Realisation sparks in Swiss' eyes and he grins widely, his entire body language changing in the blink of an eye. "You want me to teach you how to fuck, baby? How to fill me up real good with that fat dick of yours?"

okay i was in a car for like seven, almost eight hours today and now i'm in an airbnb and i played several hours of darkside detective on the drive so. here's a little darkside detective thing that may or may not become a full fic at some point. idk where this is on the timeline except "after game 1 case 4" so feel free to pick a moment in your heart

McQueen felt McKing shut the door before he heard the man himself loudly proclaim that he was off to save the city by showing his face or whatever bullshit he decided on claiming for today. Which meant it was lunchtime, and that McQueen was probably alone in the station because Dooley had gone out to get lunch somewhere and McQueen had turned down his invitation (with somewhat of a heavy heart) in order to catch up on reports. He didn't actually have that many reports to catch up on, of course, but he liked the peace and quiet to do them in. Especially if he needed to edit any of "Dooley's" again (the Bloodwoves were getting better at reports, but McQueen had known Dooley for longer than they'd been alive).

Until, at least, there was a knock on his door. A horrible second passed where he was afraid that McKing had come back to make fun of him for sitting in his office alone during lunch, but... nothing.

"Come in...?"

And in came Dooley.

Not that McQueen didn't enjoy seeing Dooley. Dooley was, and had been for years, McQueen's best friend and closest partner. He had just assumed that he wouldn't be seeing Dooley for another hour or two, and it was doing something awful to his brain that Dooley not only had come back early from lunch but was holding a bag labeled with the most generic of thank you text and that his cheeks were flushed just enough pink that McQueen couldn't help but notice (he always noticed. He noticed a lot of things about Dooley).

"Hey, Detective," Dooley greeted, gesturing with the bag. "I saw McKing out and about and he was ruining the super chill atmosphere at that new sandwich place, so I figured I'd, uh, come back early."

McQueen was not proud of how long it took him to say, "Feel free to relax, then. I'm catching up on paperwork, so I'm not sure --"

"What, you're not gonna eat anything?"

Dooley, a man who consistently went to the gym and definitely did not go to Busty Bell's as a client, ate significantly more than McQueen, who exercised almost exclusively when doing so helped him catch the supernatural. This was not a fact that needed any particular acknowledgment or came as a surprise to anyone who found out. Anyone who spoke to McQueen could also very easily guess that he was the sort of guy who got so deep into his work that he forgot to eat. So, really, Dooley had no right to sound as surprised as he did that McQueen had not packed or purchased lunch for an afternoon he'd set aside to do paperwork during.

"I'll be fine," was all McQueen said before he turned back to his work.

He could sense the frown on Dooley's face as he sat down next to McQueen and pulled a sandwich out from the bag. Not thinking much of it, he assumed it was a room issue, and scooted his chair slightly over, taking his paper with him, so Dooley could take the other half of his desk to eat.

Dooley set the sandwich down on top of his paperwork. "You've gotta eat sometime, Detective, or you'll waste away, and I'd hate to see you go."

McQueen looked over and Dooley had on that smile, the one that he used when he flirted with whoever caught his fancy, but... gentler. Mixed with something that made McQueen's heart do a little flip that he promptly ignored in favor of picking up the wrapped sandwich. "Dooley, this is yours?" He didn't mean for it to be a question, but a question it was.

"I got it for you."

He was... so he was definitely leaning in. The arms of their chairs had not almost been touching before, but McQueen's elbow was practically touching Dooley's, and this close McQueen could tell that he'd put on more cologne since leaving the office (and why, some part of him asked, did he know how much cologne Dooley usually wore?). Dooley was just slightly taller, even sitting down, but McQueen felt more than ever like he was looking up at him. Still with that smile. McQueen...

It was... nice. He liked it, and he did not want, on any level, to admit that he liked the idea that Patrick Dooley would want to flirt with Francis McQueen. Because that wasn't a thing.

... No matter, if he was honest with himself, how often he'd wished for this exact sort of thing.
