Aaaaand here it is! The genderbent darth maul that I (somewhat) promised! And let me tell you this was a beast to get done. Dathomirian tattoos are my nemesis (does anyone notice how inconsistent mauls tattoos are across different media or is this just me seeing things that aren’t there). But anyway! I know that night sisters look way different than the night brothers, but I didn’t want to make maul unrecognizable, so maybe this is an au where she’s trans? Idk.

At first I was thinking I would do just a few sketches, maybe genderbend obi wan as well for some obimaul, but then I ended up making this into a complete drawing and at the moment I don’t have the energy to draw more. I might end up doing more later, but like I said, idk.

blood and bone: what sith are

still thinking about how maul bit palpatine’s hand in his final trial on hypori. he bites the hand that feeds him. sidious tells him there is a second apprentice not out of any truth, but only to determine if maul can take this last, crucial, utterly irrevocable step towards the dark side: to hunger not only for destruction, but to hone that anger, one target at a time. to be willing to kill the one thing he loves. (and maul does indeed love sidious.)

this is why maul succeeded. this is why anakin failed. for he did not truly love the jedi. and he did not willingly kill padme. his anger was a frenzy, blind and indiscriminate. palpatine underestimated the power of pure, love. for the love maul had for sidious was sickened and twisted and built on foundations of blood and bone. but anakin and padme had something particularly tangible. something sidious could not understand, even though he claimed to. you cannot unravel this love, you cannot pervert it or manipulate it at its core, though it’s extremities may weaken and die.

this is why vader failed, this is why luke succeeded. because vader never really wanted to kill padme. and perhaps he buried the notion of fatherhood despite bearing it in his new name, but he never really killed it. so when luke comes into the picture, vader no longer needs palpatine. he is no longer the only connection he has. padme is back, now, and the legacy of anakin skywalker is more than blood and bone.

it is luke. it is leia. it is hope. it is light. it is love.

vader will not bite the hand that feeds him because everything he has done has been for love. and palpatine can’t understand that. he never has. he never will.

and this is why anakin skywalker succeeds. this is why palpatine fails.

My favorite food? Mnh. I am a zabrak, and we are technically hypercarnivores, so it should not surprise you to hear that my dinner of choice is protein rich.

Preferably wild caught, preferably cooked lightly, spiced heavily.

If I had to choose one penultimate option... fresh fish, it would be. Cuts of tender seafood, fatty white or pink, are a favored meal.

Gifts? Ahh... I roam too far, and move on too quickly for physical gifts to reach me... but I do enjoy poetry. Stories. Art. The odd bit of music. Particularly, anything that mocks and ridicules the jedi order. Do with that what you will.

With all due caution, you lean out a bit and call, “Hello? Are you dead?”

“Mnnggg,” the body replies. Oh good, still kicking.

“Are you one of the Opress brothers?” you ask hopefully.

It's a man, or male looking at least. Horned. Tattooed. Average height and build. Yellow, with a smidge of orange. Hot as fuck, honestly.

Fan art for @d0nkarnage’s fic “To the Wild” where Ahsoka joins Maul (no maulsoka, they are like siblings to me) and becomes his bodyguard. I demand that you go check it out.

I tried to draw the adult ahsoka I imagined while reading the fic, and here I’d say she’s like 20-23ish. I admit there are some things I took creative liberties on like the thickness of her Lekku or sleeveless uniform, but overall I think it looks good. (And besides, what were you going to do, tell me she had incredible arms and then expect me to not show them off?? Nothing short of snapping my tendons will keep that from happening.) Also I moved the crimson dawn logo to her headband because her chest area was covered by her Lekku. Here are the references I used:
