FYI just want people to know that the abbreviation of Omegaverse with and without the slashes is a very real world derogatory slur that has been hurled towards Indigenous Aboriginal Australians for centuries. I obviously understand not everyone is fully aware of Australia's history of institutionalized racism, genocide of traditional land owners and the stolen generation etc., but seeing the Omegaverse abbreviation everywhere is genuinely frustrating especially when people are ignorant to the actual serious implications of the word when put into a different cultural context.
EDIT: it should be noted that is also frustrating that people outside of Australia don't really know much about it's racist history (which is no fault of their own, hell even my education on Australian history back in primary school was abysmal and never mentioned the countless genocides the English settlers caused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people during colonization), but that's a whole other wider conversation - and even then you should be looking for Indigenous Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander Voices if you want learn about Australia's history.

this is going to be an annoying rant so feel free to ignore it but so actually are there no good universities in all of the united states that don't leave you in lifelong debt?????? like hello???????? everywhere i look at that seems interesting and doesn't have reviews talking about how no one cares about you and you're on your own the entire time you're there or the staff/students are -ist/-phobic or no one does work and just goes to parties or other such things they're talking about the expenses. i want a degree because i need one if i want to do anything but i don't know if i want it enough to be in debt for my whole life. and why is the us like this. i just want to go somewhere else this country does not seem worth it to me. i want to go back in time and find a way to sink every european colonizer ship that landed on the land of the americas

Y'know it was REALLY goddamn evil and nefarious that the oil fields gave my mom (a single mom working 3 jobs to raise 2 kids) a single $5,000 check in exchange for her signing a nondisclosure to never complain about them.
Of course we fucking took the money. Even with her working 1 full-time job and 2 part-time jobs, she barely made over $1,000 a month. Of course she took the money. We though about moving but we still couldn't afford it. She was so frugal with it, though. It did give us a sliver of financial security for years.
But goddamn. $5,000 is table scraps to them, and they bought her silence with it because she couldn't refuse the chance to slightly lessen the weight of poverty on her family.
#sorenhoots#i remember i was like 11 or something. she didnt know if she should sign it. and its not like we had or knew any lawyers. she had ME read it#over and even i was like “this is a nondisclosure and it means you cant ever talk about anything they do even if they do something terrible”#i recall being very proud of myself for knowing what a NDA was. lord knows where my middle-school self learned that from. she did eventually#have a lawyer of some sort look over it and they said the same thing but.... $5000#it wasnt an option for her. that was more money than wed ever had or saved. she had two kids who would need cars bc we lived so far in the#country. she knew i wanted to go to college. i dont think i ever saw her buy herself clothes before then either. it was money for emergencys#and necessities and birthday presents and road trips and... i often wondered about the person who offered us that. i wondered where they#lived and wondered how much their clothes costed and wondered if their kids got to have art or piano lessons. i wondered if their home was#over 80 degrees in the summer and under 60 in the winter and if they lived in a house that wasnt filled with dangerous spiders (we had nice#spiders too but we did also have Very Dangerous Spiders) and id picture him in his office in a button up and slacks and it would break my#heart that my mom couldnt have all of that. we just had a $5000 check and a vow to not complain.#she still feels earthquakes from it. less nowdays but still. and sometimee it still smells like a jar of hot petroleum jelly. and the attic#smell is worse than ever and the tap water smells like sulfur and wet mold#goddamn what the fuck? jesus christ. she should move.

so I don't know if it's just because my fiancé is in tiktok holes or if this is actually a thing people are talking about a lot, but holy fucking shit this is not the year to refuse to vote for the democratic nominee. biden isn't great. biden is actively funding a genocide. but we live in a two party system, only five third party candidates have ever gotten ANY electoral votes. you are coming from a good place, but all this will do is split the democratic vote while republicans vote along party lines. this is how trump or desantis win the election (and I guarantee you they will provide even more funding for israel). please go read project 2025, and ask if you want it or not.

Okay I'm going to say it. The MOST unrealistic thing about Supernatural are the motels in the show. The driving. Can't just show up anywhere in America with 30$ and a prayer anymore.

sorry just been seeing a weird backlash against academics from leftists too like was the right-wing backlash not enough lol. i'm not sure when professors became a ideologically homogeneous group intent on upholding """cultural hegemony""" for either political side. like sorry but nobody reads academic monographs except for other college students/faculty omg ......... and whatever influence they actually have in the classroom is probably overstated

delightful experience w guests where there was a young man traveling from hamburg, and later, a group of older guys came in and sat down, and mentioned they were from "just outside hamburg" and I was like oh, are you with that gentleman over there? bc its not uncommon for someone to show up to the seating period to hold a spot for friends or family who are still in the bathroom or the gift shop or something, but they said, no
but all the same they went over and introduced themselves and seemed to appoint him as an honorary member of their group, and were, like, including him in their vacation photos, and im very charmed by that

puts the shock gauntlets on his hips like a pair of big irons and stuffs his hands into them quickly to shoot at his targets like he were in a western showdown.

whenever i talk positively abt college i do need a caveat that my university itself is hellish and isn't dystopian but feels adjacent due to [redacted] being so close by & the administration sucks. also i feel like it's giving me a chance to actually be a person without the shadow of trauma right behind me so even as i'm mentally ill and actively trying to protest my university it is actually so fucking freeing that what happened when i was 15 is not something people just know about. like these people don't have the knowledge that i disappeared during COVID and came back entirely different and Better but clearly haunted. these people only know the issues i have that i choose to divulge and it's almost easier to hide it because i'm not in classes for eight hours. i finally feel intelligent because i'm not going home and collapsing from exhaustion to the point i can't do anything; i can actually do work and be productive bc i'm only in class a bit and studying things that matter.
college is expensive and shitty and elitist and i do not love my university but i love being in college so much because it just works better for my brain and like. it's been so long since i've felt people just liking me without this haunting element of weird trauma sharing shit or homoromanticism or past histories. it's a complete clean state. and people still like me. it's so fucking healing is what it is

listening to a white girl give a slideshow presentation about apologetic customs in japanese (11 slides), chinese (both mando and canto combined into 1 slide), and south korean (3 slides) while just spouting generalizations should be a jarring experience but hearing this sort of thing at least once every 3 days while attending a liberal arts college makes none of this is surprising at all whatsoever.

Little did my marine policy professor know that she will be sent in an assignment detailing my anger towards monopolies and oligopolies and how they pollute and have extremely unethical practices towards the environment and their workers today.  ::)
