things about the dr anime intro that just hm.
1) seductively dancing monokuma. why. why is this a thing. why do we need a tile image of multiple seductively dancing monokuma.
2) when it shows the elevator to the class trial. it includes junko. junko is never on that elevator. she's dead before the first trial. which like. is a fun tidbit actually and gives a nice image of what might have been.

My predictions for the secrets of the DRDT Cast!~
While I’m definitely not smart enough to figure this murder out, I think I may be qualified in figuring the current second biggest mystery of Chapter 2, the rest of the characters secrets!
While a majority of the classes secrets have been revealed, I think I have a good idea on the rest! I’ll try to explain the best I can, but this is kind of a more casual theory than a super in-depth one like most of the ones I see.
Tw: Su!c!de, Self h@/rm, Implied Eating Disorder in Ace’s section, Spoilers for Danganronpa Despair Time
Confirmed Secrets
These are the secrets that are correct and have been confirmed.
Xander - “How could I even select what secret to be your motive? Just about everything you’ve done in your life is worth killing for. The killing game is your fault.”
Nico - “No one accepted you because of your identity. You were constantly mocked by your family, your peers, and everyone else.”
Arei - “Blackmail, rumors, lying, stealing, slander. You did everything you could to ruin your sisters’ lives.”
Rose - “You took on your talent to earn money for your family. But you’ve since put them in a lifetime of debt.”
J - “You hide your name and birthright to pretend that you aren’t the daughter of Mariabella Rosales.”
Charles - “Your older brother died, but you don’t remember him at all.”
Eden - “Ever since you kissed her, you were afraid your sexuality would ruin your friendships.”
Arturo - “Your younger sister killed herself because of you. You should have never left.”
Whit - “Your mother is dead. You always omit that truth.”
Ace - “Your body is falling apart, but you still refuse to eat.”
David - “You exist to manipulate others. Everyone else exits to be taken advantage of.”
Now we move on to the characters whose secrets have not been revealed, and so everything from here on out is pure speculation. I’ll try to explain my reasoning, even if it is sometimes rather flimsy.
Characters who’s secrets have NOT been revealed: Teruko, Hu, Veronika, Min, and Levi
So! Let the speculation begin!
“You always treated the competition with ruthlessness, but poisoning them to win was a bit too far, wasn’t it?”
I think this secret belongs to Min. If I’m not mistaken, in her extra episode between Ch. 1 and 2, we learn that the competition to become the Ultimate Student is incredibly difficult. While Min is smart, that alone doesn’t guarantee that she’ll win the title. So, I believe that Min poisoned one, if not multiple of her peers to become the Ultimate Student. We’ve already seen her dark side through her murder of Xander, so is it that far of a stretch? I also think the word competition is important, as the only other character who’d really have “Competition” is Levi, as the fashion industry is incredibly cut throat, but that aside, the evidence is almost nonexistent (At least from what I remember).
“You only took on your talent to distract from your incessant need to harm yourself for fun.”
I think this secret belongs to Veronika. We already know that she treats this killing game as, well, a game. She doesn’t take any situation seriously, and seems a lot like Junko, where she finds everything boring within seconds. Therefore, she started harming herself. However, as the Ultimate Horror Fanatic, I think it truly fits her personality of getting bored easily. Good horror finds a way to surprise you no matter if you know the tropes or not, and surprises = no boredom. It’s an almost comedic reasoning, but it truly fits her in my opinion.
“You were quite the hopeless child. Dying once wasn’t enough, so you attempted three times.”
I think this is Hu. I know this secret being Hu’s is a popular theory, although admittedly I don’t follow many DRDT theories so I’m not exactly sure why, so my reasoning may or may not overlap.
Hu states in the trial that if she can’t protect people, be that motherly role that she makes herself out to be, she won’t be useful anymore. I think she knows how it feels and wants to give everyone else comfort and support, which is why she gets on to Arei and Ace for their cruelty. It also fits with David stating that “[Hu] may not be the strong, noble person she makes herself out to be,” as, speaking from experience, those thoughts definitely makes the victim feel as though they are weak.
“You’re a murderer, and you hold no remorse.”
Teruko. I think this is Teruko. She is a pretty remorseless person in general, straight up pushing Min off of her as she pleads and begs for forgiveness moments before being excecuted. And no, that’s not the murder I’m talking about. I think the victim is the mystery girl Teruko’s been dreaming about. I don’t have real evidence, but this is definitely a gut feeling.
“You’re constantly blaming yourself for the death of your parents and siblings. It doesn’t matter that it’s not your fault, just that you didn’t go with them.”
This leaves Levi. Levi talks about being a better person a lot, and blaming himself may be the reason he feels like he has to. And with his slight outlashes at Ace during trials, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a trauma response.
So! That’s my thoughts, I hope you guys enjoyed my rambles! Again, if anything said contradicts canon, just know I didn’t fact check all of this, especially Levi’s section… I do think I remember him talking about family with Eden and it not being a sore subject, but hey. I’m actually pretty confident with the rest, especially Hu and Min.
So, yeah! I think that’s about it. Bye!~

Can you do headcanons for Mukuro and Junko x reader who happens to be a friend the girl was majorly crushing on as a child before their paths diverged only to be reunited when reader accidentally gets wrapped up in a killing game? (If you want to do only one that is fine but maybe a happy ending for the reader and the sister they're paired with?)
♡ Mukuro X Childhood Crush! Reunited! Reader:♡
Thank you so much for your request, Anon!! I really like this idea, so I hope I did it well!
I only wrote for Mukuro as I’m not quite sure how to write for Junko right now. I hope that’s not too much of a bother, but if it is I am incredibly sorry. I also must admit this is not my best work and I really really apologise for that. I never like giving mediocre pieces. :(
That being said, I do hope you enjoy what I’ve written for Mukuro. Have a lovely day, angel, and feel free to request again whenever!
ALSO MEGA HEAVY SPOILERS FOR THH.
~
♡ She did not want to reunite like this.
♡ Not here, not now.
♡ Yet, there you stood within the crowd, all grown up and just as darling as she remembered.
♡ You weren’t supposed to be here. Why were you here?
♡ Junko said she wouldn’t rope you into the game.
♡ So why…?!
♡ Mukuro was so perplexed, actually kind of distressed, but she couldn’t do anything.
♡ She was Junko. That’s who she was or, at least, who she was pretending to be.
♡ What she hoped to do, however, was ensure as little harm as possible came your way.
♡ She had to be sneaky about it though, she wasn’t sure how Junko would respond to it.
♡ In this particular universe, while Mukuro was blissfully unaware of it, your presence would prevent her from being killed off so early on.
♡ You recognised her too, albeit as Junko, but, in your panic questioned where Mukuro was.
♡ Something about you being concerned for her whereabouts touched Mukuro.
♡ It seemed that, after all this time, you still cared.
♡ She couldn’t fathom how you kept all that care up for all those years.
♡ Still, you did, and that seemed to produce a strong urge of responsibility within Mukuro.
♡ Eventually, however, she knew she had to come clean.
♡ With how close you were one more becoming, she didn’t want you to remember her as Junko.
♡ It worried her. She wanted you to know it was her who cared, not Junko; not the one who put you there.
♡ Mukuro thought she made it clear that you weren’t to be mixed up in this…
♡ She couldn’t tell you everything, but eventually one day she tried to come clean about her identity.
♡ Emphasis on tried.
♡ Junko was always watching, she’d know.
♡ So, Mukuro made a promise to herself that you’d both survive.
♡ You were her first love, and she was not letting you die; not under her watch.
♡ So, the games continued, and so did her disguise.
♡ Before you, there was a plan, one that would remove Mukuro from the Killing Game.
♡ Yet, now you were here, and that plan did not follow through.
♡ Oh it was so frustrating!!
♡ Whenever a body was discovered, her anxiety grew overwhelming.
♡ What if that was…What if that was you?
♡ Every trial filled her with terror, because…what if you had killed?
♡ She was trying to keep you alive whilst trying to keep herself in character, trying to maintain whatever plan she had been part of in the first place.
♡ Very protective, didn’t let you succumb to despair, tried to subtly be by your side as much as possible.
♡ Deaths grew, trials continued and, to Mukuro’s relief, you were still alive.
♡ Yet, the longer you lived, the more painful it became for Mukuro.
♡ Here you were, growing closer, bonding with her, but it wasn’t the way she wanted it to be.
♡ It was all under the belief that she was Junko.
♡ It hurt her a little, because all that bond should be going to Mukuro!!
♡ Still, she continued fighting her way to survival.
♡ The plan of painting the world in despair was now something Mukuro was contemplating her support for.
♡ Mukuro had one plan now, to ensure you escaped with her.
♡ And, through it all, she began to grow repulsed at the plan both she and Junko had created.
♡ It was weird, hearing you let all your frustrations out, all your worries, bringing up memories, because there was a whole other layer to it.
♡ You were bonding with Junko, not Mukuro, and that ticked her off.
♡ It really, really, frustrated her. Especially when you were talking of Mukuro so fondly.
♡ She just wanted to take you and hold you close.
♡ Her identity would soon reveal itself, however, come the end of the game.
♡ The conclusions were drawing up, the mastermind revealed, disbelief shared.
♡ The look on your face broke her.
♡ But, Mukuro had vowed to keep you safe, regardless of her plan, and that’s what she had done.
♡ The world outside was…
♡ Well, it was devastating.
♡ But, you had Mukuro, and Mukuro had you.
♡ Things around you would take years, possibly even decades, to fix. Humanity as it stands would never be the same, everything would be so very different.
♡ But, she had you.
♡ You, who’d somehow ended up a crying mess in her arms. You, who she vowed to protect. You, who she’d loved for all this time.
♡ As long as you were still here, as long as you were still with her, this battle could be fought.
♡ She’d do anything for you to live a happy life once more.

*shows you Takaaki*
Please don't cry but this man can fit so much angst
A man who has probably, like Taka, spent his whole life repairing their image. A man dedicated to being a police officer, someone who probably wanted to make the best future for his son and the country. To somehow atone for the sins of his father.
And then he looks up. At the big screen in the middle of the city. With everyone around, stopping the chaos, the riots to watch as the Ultimate despair herself appears on screen. She smiles. That's never a good sign.
Some run away, taking advantage of the despair-infected being glued to the screens. And those who worship Junko, the despair itself, being excited for what's to come.
She explains, quite enthusiastically, the killing game.
"Please don't" Takaaki repeats in his head. He lost so much. He doesn't want to hear it. He doesn't want it to be true
And then she shows the candidates. The Hope's Peak's brightest minds.
Takaaki cusses a bit under his breath. He's too scared to look up. He knows Taka is there. His son is defenceless, hopeless. And his father can't do anything about it.
So he watches the broadcast from the same billboard every night, even after being put on a demon list, he still makes sure to see his son. To give him guidance, just hoping he would hear him through the screen.
He cheers him on when he starts to make friends. And makes his dad jokes about introducing Mondo to the family, cracking up at the thought that maybe his straight-A son isn't that straight after all.
He forgets the bad just for a moment. He ignores the bad to feel like he is there with his son and it's just a normal school year. But there is a dark thought looming over his shoulder
"Taka... Isn't going to make it"
The good boys who want to make this world a little better, the ones that make friendships while facing the danger, the ones that want to save everyone... They never make it.
Mondo dies, Taka has a mental breakdown, the motive is introduced, Alter Ego appears, Taka becomes Kiyondo and
And then he's dead
Takaaki drinks his beer as usual when the other kids discover his son's body. He comments as usual, pretending his son is still searching for clues with the rest. He makes up stuff that Taka would say. About not running in the hallways, about being respectful to the dead, about making it through together.
"Damn it..."
The tears falls down his face as he takes another sip. He's alone again. All alone. Why did it have to be this way? Why did this need to happen? He was ready for war, for poverty, for the apocalypse... But not for hopelessly watching his son die because of his classmate on a big screen in the city square.
"Da...mn it..."
His voice cracks. He tries to drink more but the can is already empty. More tears fall. He wants to hug his son, to tell him one last joke, to tell him he was the greatest person he ever met, that he lived up to everyone's expectations. But he can't.
He's alone.

Munakata: You know nothing, you're just a naive child who thinks the world can be saved by positivity.
Well that might work in your game, but not in the real world.
Makoto: chained on the ground Your pathetic.
Munakata: What did you say?!
Makoto: You laughs, glares at him you know nothing. You think that I don't know, that words aren't enough to change people?
You think that I don't know that positivity can't fix everything?
Munakata: Than why do you drone on and on about it? If you truly believe your words are hollow, than why pretend to be such a fool?
Makoto: God your stupid. What I said was that I know words aren't enough. But they're a start, their a step and a necessary one.
If anyone's the hypocrite, it's you, Mr rehabilitating murderers is wrong but I'm gonna kill people that don't agree with me.
Munakata: You little-
Makoto: No? You go on and on about how dangerous it would be if despair disguised itself under a flag of hope.
And yet here you stand like your own Remnant of despair.
Munakata: How dare you! Kicks him, hard
Makoto: laughs And you say I'm the child. How did you get such a high up job?
I mean you talk tough but you're just a washed up graduate who's clings onto his high school glory days.
Munakata: seething How dare you!
Makoto: Oh I dare. I think you got the job to work at the overseas Hope's Peak, because you're so desperate to reignite that spark because you've found nothing else fulfilling in your life.
And than the world fell but you got lucky, because finally everything was yours. You could be the big bad hero you always wanted to be.
Munakata: You call this a victory?
Makoto: For you? Other than being vice chairman and Chisa, sounds like your dream.
Munakata: Don't you dare speak her name!
Makoto: Yeah, my bad I'm sorry. You know, I was willing to hear you out for her.
I've lost people, know how hard greif is especially in a place like this. And she wanted me to hear you out, and I thought sure okay.
Munakata: That sounds like her.
Makoto: But man, I've looked into the eyes of those infected with despair.
And I've still found shreds of humanity in their souls, you are as soulless as it gets. And I watched Junko kill her own sister without a second thought.
Munakata: scoffs
Makoto: Junko twisted the Remnants from the people they were. The kind, good loving people they were.
But no one did that to you, you are your truest self. There was nothing to regain because nothing was lost.
Munakata: Is that your long poetic way of calling me a monster? How original.
Makoto: No you're worse. Hell at least Junko knew she was being awful. You say the most awful things and pretend it's just.
Munakata: The truth is always hard to digest. You should know that better than anyone. But you insist on hiding behind your hollow words.
Makoto: They aren't hollow. Sure I talk, a lot. But I make my words mean things, I fill what could have been hollow because I believe in the power they hold.
Munakata: You do have a lot of influence in your words. But that doesn't change that they won't fix things.
Makoto: I know it's not going to fix everything! But if they can get people to act, if they can change someone's opinion. That makes them mean something.
What you're proposing would destroy what's on the surface but change won't happen if you won't touch the root of the issue.
Munakata: And what of it? It will only spread. I do what has to be done. I use my words and I put them into action.
Makoto: The difference is I'm proposing people care about each other and you're trying to justify mass murder.
That's the difference between you and me, you take the easy route.
Munakata: Easy?! You dare call this easy?!
Makoto: Violence is easy, you can hurt anyone without raising a hand. You know what's hard? Healing.
Going day in and day out in a hopeless world trying to convince people life's worth living.
You watched the game... How many times did I try to bring people together? How many times did I try to talk to someone who would later be a murderer?
A tear falls down his cheek.
I will carry their deaths for the rest of my life. I will be kind in a world that hates that because someone has to.
I gave my weakness to everyone not because I don't know the danger but because I do.
Because I know if one person, just one comes forward it can persuade others to do so too.
Munakata: Scoffs What you've done is make yourself a bigger target.
Makoto: Gets up, got free ages ago and stands tall It's easy to kill the people who wronged you. What's hard is knowing all they've done, and forgiving them anyway.
I smile and it hurts more than anything and yet I do it because it makes people feel at ease. And if that's make me weak? Than so be it.
Munakata: So what, you'll forgive me for all of this?
Makoto: Yeah, because even now I think there's still hope in you.
Munakata: That kind of optimism will get you killed one day.
Makoto: It's gotten me this far. Sad smile And apart from my friends, it's all I've got anyway walks away, pauses And for what it's worth, I'm sorry for your loss. Walks away

Something that I think is really fucked up is how few fans really consider just how uniquely miserable the revelations in Chapter 4 must have been for Nagito. Because unlike the five survivors in the finale...
Nagito was isolated from his peers when learning the truth.
Nagito did not have moral support from AI Chiaki or the DR1 trio to help ease the pain.
Monokuma deliberately omitted and downplayed important details like the fact that Junko's AI would possess Remnants who died in the simulation, and that they'd been brainwashed into Ultimate Despair.
Like...there was really no silver lining that he could have clung to at that point to keep himself together. The DR1 survivors at least could hold onto the hope that there were people on the outside still fighting the good fight, and maybe some of their loved ones might still be alive. But Nagito? As far as he was aware he and the others in his class had turned into monsters for seemingly no reason at all and ruined the world. The only slight form of atonement he could think of was ending his own life, getting the Remnants killed, and helping the one seemingly innocent person escape with their life.
And imagine how he must have felt upon waking up and learning that he'd inadvertently almost helped Junko revive in their bodies. His last desperate attempt to do one decent thing for the world failing utterly, and it being a GOOD thing that it failed. I think he'd feel pretty despondent and crushed.
The most fucked up shit is when people get mad at him for trying to kill the ultimate despairs, like WHAT?! Why wouldn't he??
Everything was their fault, everyone but the thh survivors wanted them dead. And when guven a chance at redemption Hajime pulls out the despair AI and ruins it. And when one of them got her memories back the first thing she did was kill someone and try to get them executed cause that's what Junko would want
He was 100% justified cause what else could he have done. Let world ending monsters go back into the world? He could've easily killed everyone but decided to let the innocent one live, he could've been like "it's a necessary sacrifice they knew what they got themselves into" but he didn't
Like not liking Nagito is justified but you can't deny he was right to try to kill all the remaining despairs. Some people even pretend he was mad at Hajime for being a reserve course when he's clearly mad about the Izuru thing, he litteraly talk about how Hajime threw his life away to become hope and drops hints as to Hajime being the mastermind.
Considering everything he was actually going easy on everyone and especially Hajime, like you can tell he doesn't want to have to kill them but knows he needs to for he safety of the world
Like yes it's better to let them be redeemed but how was he supposed to know they could after what Hajime and Mikan did?
Nagito had no reason to think they could be fixed, even Makoto almost revived despair when fixing them
And if you think he should've still forgiven them, you're a hypocrite for not forgiving him. Just say you don't like him

sorry if this comes off as rude or in bad faith but i'm interested in hearing your reasons on why you dislike saiouma? again, not trying to be rude, i'm just interested since it's one of the big popular ships and i think you have interesting danganronpa takes
@crowssoul2 sent another ask with the same idea, so allow me to respond to them both here instead of trying to cut an essay in half.
Nah! You didn't seem rude at all! I am more than happy to overanalyze Danganronpa, since I love Danganronpa to death. I am just as happy to be asked what I thought they failed @ then to be asked what I liked. Hell, I'll even enjoy civil discussion about why you disagree with my takes. (except maybe my take on the great Chihiro discourse, since bystanders always get pissy at that one)
Also, to preface this, this is a ship and let ship blog. I'm glad all you Saiouma shippers are having fun. Also, I love all the ship art you make. If you enjoy what we got, this isn't a personal attack. Honestly, I wish I were one of you since there's so much more content that way.
I feel like I dislike Saiouma because their canon dynamic went against the themes of the work. Kokichi, as a character, represents lies, which is one of the major themes of Drv3. (The same way Makoto represents hope and Junko represents despair) This seems really obvious to say, but is important to my point. A characters relationship with Kokichi should mirror their relationship with lies.
A good example of this done right is Kaito. Listen, his writing irks me, but his relationship with Kokichi is one of my favorite things about him. (Still can't get behind Oumota bc of Kaito's personality, but that doesn't mean I dislike the foils OR the shippers)
Kaito pretends to hate lies, as heroes should. But his heroic personality is in fact, a lie he tells. Not out of malice, but because that's who he wants to be. (Think Kaito:Hero as Gundam:Dark God) He lies to protect people, and hide his illness. As a result, he's willing to work with Kokichi to... protect Maki, conceal his identity, (which includes hiding his illness) and from a certian POV, be a hero! It makes perfect sense.
Another good example of this is Maki. She hates Kokichi, because she hates lies. Her hatred of Kokichi is actually tied to him revealing one of her lies, a lie that was causing her quite a lot of stress. But... she also directly benefits from Kokichi. He saved her life. Unrelated tangent (sarcasm), what was revealed to be a lie in Ch6? Her feelings for Kaito. Let me rephrase that sentence: She hates LIES but she also directly benefits from them (her feelings for Kaito improving her mental health)
I wish that theme carried over into other characters the same way it did for those two. There are some other parallels I can draw (Ryoma liking Kokichi to an extent, Kirumi playing tag with him) but those two are the most obvious and explicit.
So its sad that characters with a complicated relationship with lies don't also have a complicated relationship with Kokichi, the embodiment of lies.
Himiko lives a lie. Lying is needed for her job. But her lies almost got her killed in chapter 2, and Tenko going along with her lie doesn't help. How does this reflect in her interactions with Kokichi? It doesn;t.
Kaede lied to us, the motherfucking audience. Honestly, thats arguably just as impressive as Kokichi ever pulled. What is her relationship with Kokichi? Kokichi acts sort of like a mentor figure to HER in the tunnels, and stands up against her. I like that, but give that plot beat to someone else. (Kaito makes the most sense, but give it to Tenko since I love her.)
Danganronpa itself is a lie, a work of fiction. And Tsumugi is obsessed with it.
In fact, this applies to the v3 casts dynamic with Kokichi as a whole. Almost everyone dislikes and distrusts Kokichi, despite the big reveal of being liars themselves. I'd write it as "everyone pretends to hate Kokichi (lies), but actually don't mind him that much. However, they think everyone else hates Kokichi so they go along with the group." to foreshadow the big reveal that they themselves are lies told by Tsumugi.
And Shuichi suffers from this the most.
Shuichi's Ch1 arc is summed up by "Shuichi learns to face the truth for the first time with that case, and stops averting his eyes." In other words, on the Truth vs Lies scale, Shuichi begins the series aligned with LIES.
The rest of the game shows Shuichi gradually becoming a paragon of Truth to go against Kokichi's lies- ONLY FOR IT TO BE REVEALED IN CH6 THAT HE HIMSELF IS A LIE.
That he is, a fictional character and a pawn in someone elses game. It then becomes a Schrodinger's cat on the alignment scale I mentioned earlier. Was Shuichi's journey to the Truth end of the scale fake or not?
The game settles upon a hesitant no at the end of it, (I disagree, since the games mechanics tell a different story) when Shuichi ventures out into the world with the other survivors to find the truth upon whats out there.
Thats a HECK of a complicated relationship with lies. It should equal a heck of a complicated relationship with Kokichi, right? WRONG.
The canon Saiouma dynamic is basically
"Kokichi likes and teases Saihara, while Shuichi is annoyed by Kokichi until his death, when he gradually begins to come around. Despite this, Kokichi (and the lie mechanic) is surprisingly helpful in trials"
(actually the localization changed this quite a bit, but I'm going off the English version since this is what I actually played. That being said, its a fascinating topic that you should look into if you're as obsessed as I am.)
While the fanon is more akin to:
"Shuichi gradually gets drawn in by Kokichi and learns to accept his quirks."
(maybe shippers will disagree with me about those dynamics, since again, not my cup of tea.)
Meanwhile a Saiouma dynamic I can get behind is:
"Shuichi is drawn in by Kokichi (lies), and feels a sort of magnetism to him. But he knows it isn't a good idea, and he knows it isn't right. Kokichi's feelings are unclear at first due to his nature, but it turns out he has a love-hate relationship with Shuichi (truth). He'll rely on him sometimes, but rebuff him at others with seemingly no logic from his end."
In other words, I'd do a semi-reversal of the canon dynamic.
NOTE: I am not saying I'm a writing genius or anything. Hindsight is 20/20, and I'm sure if Kodaka could magically remake his games he'd stomp my rewrite to the ground.
You asked why I dislike it, and that's my explanation. But please allow me to go a step further and speculate why things are this way.
At about the same time you sent me your ask, my good friend Crow sent me this:
"I don't like Saiouma because well Komahina is exactly what the black romance should be while Saiouma is just feels like another Shuichi ship. Do you get my point?
Shuichi and Hajime is entirely different characters while Komaeda and Kokichi different af too like, they can't hit the Komahina dynamic like they intended to do, this is why Saiouma is just another Shuichi ship while Komahina is THE SHIP.
If you want to do a homoerotic Shuichi ship who would be the next Komahina you shouldn't do that with Kokichi at all, maybe Rantaro? But Rantaro isnt work well too like there is no Komaeda for him to work the Komahina. Saiouma felt poorly executed idea of a black romance, if I need to be honest Oumaede would be more fitting for the Komahina dynamic despite Kaede is just pov character.
So yeah there is no Komahina in drv3 because they tried to play the same tropes with very different characters and very different stories, I even felt more interested in Saihoshi despite Ryoma only been around 2 chapters than Kokichi. That is the problem in here"
I felt like I can't answer one of these asks without referencing what I said in the other ask, so I just both answered them both together. (no hard feelings?)
In case you haven't read Homestuck (wise call, honestly) Black romance is basically non-sexual hatefucking. Usually, there's an undertone of mutual respect, but not always. Felt like that context was important.
Komeada and Kokichi ARE different characters. From a narrative standpoint, Komeada completely turns existing themes like Hope and Talent into complex issues in the Drverse, while in THH they were pretty black and white. Meanwhile, Kokichi's introduction is the introduction to the theme of truth vs lies.
In other words (Makoto is to Nagito (and later to Hajime and Izuru) as Kokichi is to Shuichi) The second takes the theme from the first, and massively expands on it! ...Despite Shuichi and Kokichi being in the same game.
Despite this, the reason people think they are similar is because Kokichi piggybacks too hard on Nagito and Komahina's success.
What does Nagito have in common with Togami, other than being an antagonistic force. Not much, actually! Togami fucked up a corpse while Nagito fucked up his own body, and that distinction is all that needs to be said I think.
Togami would look down upon Nagito if they ever met, and Nagito'd be into that.
What does Kokichi have in common with Nagito?
They want to make an unsolvable murder in which poison was involved and they got someone to kill them.
They both have a one sided crush on their protagonist, that the protagonist doesn't think exists. (Kokichi confessed, but perks of being a chronic liar)
They both are the MVP in almost every trial they are in, with one notable exception for each of them. Thats... kind of a lot, actually! I do think they are noticeably different characters, especially on a thematic level, but I can see why people notice that. I can also see why people would find that bad! Nagito was the star of Dr2, hands down. If you were one of the few people that isn't a total Nagito simp, then a very simmilar character getting screentime might be annoying since you have Nagito fatigue from the last game. and if you are a Nagito simp, then Kokichi will likely never be his own dude with so much in common. You'll see him as a lesser Nagito and want him back. I agree with Crow when he says "Saiouma just feels like another ship. I found it hard to articulate why I feel that paradoxically feels like a rip-off of another ship I liked, but also had no bite to it. And then it hit me. Until Chapter four, Kokichi never did anything that warranted Nagito levels of hatred. (of course, this is entirely subjective. I hate Kaito pretty much for being annoying and fitting into tropes I dislike without commenting on it. If you think this is enough to hate Kokichi, power to you!) By the end of chapter one of Dr2, Nagito:
Attempted to 1st degree murder a fan-favorite character, with a deliberately confusing and unsympathetic (at this point in time) motive to do so.
Goaded another character (that most fans hated, but still) into committing that murder FOR him. The only time we ever saw that level of insanity was Celeste, and Teruteru is no Hifumi in terms of gullibility. (Celeste had plot armor anyway.)
Sat back and monologues while everyone's ass was on the line. If Hajime and the others voted wrong, everyone would have died.
Showed NO remorse over any of it. Seemed to enjoy it.
This one is more meta but: he shows despair eyes, which previously were only seen on the big bad of the first game. Characters have every reason to hate the guy. Soda and Nekomaru were absolutely correct in taking him out, and I'd argue that you should maybe go father by putting him in a public area and gagging his mouth unless it's mealtime. Meanwhile, by chapter three, Kokichi has:
Stood up to Kaede in the tunnels, which most students agree was the right call.
Showed emotions over Rantaro's death, but due to his lying they can't be sure if they were genuine.
Was civil (if a bit wierd) to Kaede right before her execution.
Bullied Kiibo. Yes, bullying is- bad but look me in the eye and tell me its worse than murder. You can't.
Shared the motive videos in the insect meet and greet. This is the major strike against him, but its reasonable to assume he did this with good intentions.
While doing that, tortured them with bugs when it wasn't really needed for the plan to work.
(okay, this one didn't actually happen and I will die on this hill, but the main group thinks it did so I'm counting it) Tricked Gonta into helping with his plans.
Saved our asses in the second trial.
Saved our asses in the post-trial portion of chapter 2
Not joined a cult that was forming in our school. Also did not stop Gonta from joining the cult, which doesn't point to a pattern of controlling behavior from Shuichi's POV.
Was key in getting to Angie's body. Pun intended.
Helped out during the seance.
While arguably not the MVP in trial 3, he still contributed a great deal. Do those lists of crimes seem equal to you? It takes Kokichi 3 chapters to do something that is, at most, Hiyoko level. Maybe Byakuya level, but thats pushing it. Yet, the characters treat Nagito and Kokichi with about equal annoyance and disdain. The v3 cast, of course, doesn't know that Nagito exists. But we, the players, know. Its like we got prologue Nagito for almost four chapters, but prologue Nagito was also kind of a bitch? But also possibly well-meaning and OP as fuck. This concludes my analysis! Do you agree? Disagree? I'd love to hear thoughts.

HI I SEE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT DANGRANOPA AGAIN!!! i should not be on tumblr rn but i'd like to ask on what you think about the whole remnant brainwashing thing revealed on the danganronpa 3 (i think it was 3??) anime. I have. Thoughts on this topic n im curious about yours aswell :D (also your post on the patterns in danganronpa is so <333 honestly my only observation that differs is that the chapter 2 murders were caused by the motives themselves, its a bit of a stretch on the first game but its there sksksksks)
ohhhhh……… i hate hate HATE the brainwashing thing so much. it’s so bad and honestly ruins a LOT of what makes the remnants so interesting to me. i pretend it does not exist.
because like. they had everything laid out for them. there was SO MUCH they could’ve done to explain why the remnants fell into despair. i would imagine the class was already going through it with the death of fuyuhiko’s sister. it would’ve been easy for junko to start pulling the strings from there, to make them slowly fall into despair, only to use chiaki’s death/execution as the final tipping point.
it feels so much more impactful for despair to have been a Choice, at least to some extent. it’s worse to have them turn to it, to be pushed to their limits and fall from grace in such a horrible and shocking way. brainwashing is just. what’s the point? there’s no conflict. all the crimes they committed while remnants? well it’s okay because they were brainwashed ^_^ that wasn’t ACTUALLY them, silly ^_^ it’s also a total fucking cop-out and ruins miterai’s character. like what the fuck do you mean the ultimate animator’s work is only so widely beloved because he found out about subliminal mind control. it should be widely beloved because he’s. yknow. the best at his craft. he should animate so well it blows people’s dicks off. everyone else gets to have their titles because they’re insanely skilled at their craft but he gets it because mind fuckery?? imagine if mikan was the ultimate nurse because she figured out placebo bullshit instead of actual nursing. what’s the point of an ultimate title if your fame and prestige don’t actually come from your skill and instead brainwashing everyone into thinking you’re the best.
as much as udg sucks ass, they did the despair thing RIGHT. we saw the warriors be pushed to the edge, have despair offered to them as a way out, and fall to it. and they turned away!! they realized they’d been manipulated and lied to and chose to make up for their actions!! you KNOW you fucked up when udg does something better than you.
so yeah 👍 i hate it and actively ignore its existence. 2 me junko did the same thing she did with the warriors and manipulated and pushed class 77 into despair in a more natural and believable way. miterai gets to stay tho bc i love him

Tam Lin Saiou AU
Ves: okay please consider. saiou tam lin (osp link if you're not familiar w the fairy tale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF3O6Xkpscs&list=WL&index=1&pp=gAQBiAQB) i left the prompt vague because i can't decide who should be who. both options are SO funny to me why do saiou always end up pregante in my fairy tale aus i do not know ALL THE BEST FAIRY TALES INVOLVE IT OKAY I STILL CAN'T DECIDE…probably tam lin!kokichi though, i suppose it makes more sense it's not as easy as lindwyrm for me. who tf do i make the queen,,,
Me: the heroine is just like Shuichi going to the love hotel She Knows What She Came Here For [as for the queen] Angie maybe? it's a bit of a step up from asking for blood but Ves: WHY SHE LIKE THAT she's not asking she's giving remember
Hina: See in my head I lean toward Kokichi Janet with the way the video described the two I'm just in my head imagining the hilarity of Kokichi pretending to be all "Oops i forgor" while Shuichis like. "Hold up wait you don't actually. Like. Actually it's fine I can take something else it's fine."
Ves: i tip towards janet shuuichi just bc he's the one i hc as being able to get pregananante Hina: See I was just. Ignoring that. DIDNT HAPPEN I just can't imagine Shuichi being all cool with that if that's the outcome Me: Do it I knew it! You and your anti-children agenda Hina: WHAT DO YOU MEAN Me: exactly what I said, I knew you're going to try to erase the child out of the story, but not on my watch Ves: allister is in hina's walls Checkers: Hina how else would you explain the baby daddy part Hina: Maybe you just have an agenda for children smh Me: that's not mutually exclusive heroine just wanted a hook up, she wouldn't come back if it didn't happen Hina: Easy, Janet was intrigued by what happened and wanted to come back Ves: you'd have to completely cut out the part about the father and the knights Checkers: no the the tam lin can't hurt her bc he's her baby daddy part Dra: Hina has the single father Shu au Defending the bestie and leaving djfjd Me: that's because it's a pre-existing child, alive for narrative purposes, he doesn't let saiou have children together tho and takes any opportunity to get rid of fetuses Hina: If they're mutually each other's firsts that's another way to connect them Ves: i mean, we could have him hurt shuuichi… Hina: OR THAT I FUCKING GUESS Checkers: ves he turns into fire like "can kill people" fire Hina: Fireproof cloak Checkers: how about the red-hot iron Ves: i've always thought the newer versions where she clings to him even though he burns are sweet Hina: Is standing in water when the fire is cast
Ves: but could kokichi manage a reputation as a bodice ripper. i think no actually yes he just lied 'ooooh don't go to carterhaugh or fair tam lin will take your maidenhead' tam lin has never felt the touch of another he's shaking Me: he was just being silly, securing the gifts he actually wants, he didn't expect horny people to seek him out, he doesn't even have a known appearance! Ves: he's a little magpie, he wanted the shinies, he was not prepared OOO new thought. the two headed rose as a metaphor the first thing janet does in carterhaugh is pick a two-headed rose, which is what tam lin shows up to bitch at her for initially. for shuuichi it could be a representation of his curiosity, his fascination with strange and mildly dangerous things kokichi is the rose. i've connected the dots /ref what direction are we heading with the faerie queen? depending on ur adaptation she's treated either like a mother figure or a toxic gf and that affects what character we pick
Checkers: what if she just sees him as more a toy and less a lover? Ves: so junko then? or moogi O MY GOD YOU GUYS DID YOU KNOW THAT IN SOME VERSIONS THEY'RE CHILDHOOD FRIENDS THEY KNEW EACH OTHER BEFORE HE WAS TAKEN BY THE FAERIE QUEEN I- this provides more justification for the baby actually THEY KNEW EACH OTHER BEFORE MAYBE WERE EVEN IN LOVE BEFORE KOKICHI WAS STOLEN…
Hina: What if Nobody was stolen Ves: THAT IS THE ENTIRE CONCEIT OF THE FAIRY TALE?? Hina: Ran away And got caught Ves: no. THAT'S JUST ANGST FOR ANGST'S SAKE, IT DOESN'T EVEN FIT IN THE STORY!! THEY'RE ALREADY GOING TF THROUGH IT WHY MUST YOU CRAM IN MORE Hina: LISTEN Ves: listening. Hina: I just I think it'd be funny (I had an idea but it doesn't work so nvm)
Ves: is it not MORE angsty for shuuichi to think kokichi finally got bored of him and bolted, meanwhile he's held captive as a future sacrifice Hina: I had an idea if Tsumugi was the queen or whatever but I realized it doesn't work with Kokichi Ves: imagine heading into the woods to fuck and meeting your long lost childhood love queen tsumugi still works with kokichi i think? Hina: In general it does but I had an idea hinged on Shuichi and Tsumugi being siblings skskskske Ves: yeah that doesn't work they're different species ndsjghsgf maybe in a tamlin!shuuichi variant? Hina: The idea was kinda Tsumugi snatching herself a brother Ves: TSUMUGI. THAT'S NOT FREE Hina: YEAH BUT SHE WANTED A SIBLING They keep getting sacrificed for being human smh

So, about a week ago (insert slightly sheepish laughter here) I asked @kimium what video games she thought the Vice Housewardens of NRC would enjoy; not including the already canonverse videogames (see her answer here). She prompted me, in her post, to give my own answers as well...and I have taken my time it seems ahahaha, but I did not forget! So, here they are:
Trey - Trey is gonna play something like Dentist Simulator. He loves it. Even if it's gross at times. He finds it fascinating and satisfying. Trey loves teeth and the cleaning of teeth; this is mentioned not only in a vignette, but also in the Halloween event currently going on when it is revealed that Sebek's father is, in fact, a dentist. (Trey gets very excited and that is so adorable) I can just imagine him loving every minute of a Dentist themed game, and I've seen enough simulators to feel confident in my selection for him even if I haven't played this specific one.
Ruggie - Ruggie is gonna like some online Monopoly. I think he would have fun with the game, he can play with the kids back home, and he absolutely can and will crush anyone who challenges him. I think it gives him a little bit of an escape from reality, too. It's nice to be able to pretend a little that he has money and the power to buy entire properties. Ruggie respects the hustle. He's made for Monopoly.
Jade - I think Jade would really enjoy Danganronpa. He's definitely on Junko's side. Loves the despair and seeing people pushed to the brink, and he probably enjoys the executions more than he should, but it's all in fun. I think he would enjoy the mystery, solving things and putting clues together, and the puzzles! (except Hangman's gambit. Fuck Hangman's gambit). While I think he would enjoy the entire series, I do think he'd have a special place in his heart for Trigger Happy Havoc. I can almost see the look on his face when the first execution comes up. He'd be surprised, and I think Jade likes surprises. He finds them fun.
Jamil - I don't know why, I just really think Jamil would like the old Space-themed pinball that came already installed on Microsoft Windows computers when I was a child. I think it would be something he doesn't have to stress over, he doesn't have to try overly hard if he doesn't want to, he can just play for a little fun and down-time. (goodness knows, the boy needs some down-time).
Rook - So, Rook is gonna love him some DMMD. The characters are all beautiful, the art is cool, the colour scheme is good, the story is interesting...the only sin is Aoba's jacket. "Meags," you say. "You're forgetting something," you say. Listen. LISTEN. If anyone thinks for one second Rook isn't playing the spicy yaoi games they are Wrong. Of course he is. But don't ask him his favourite route; that's just opening yourself up to a five-hour verbal essay that boils down to "he can't choose because every character is so beautiful in their own way and all deserve to be happy and in love".
Ortho - Ortho really likes adventure and heroes, much like his brother. I think he'd have fun with Skyrim! The quests are fun, and there's a lot of character customization you can do. I think it's a fun game, and I think Ortho would like to be a hero too. He probably finishes the main quest, because I think Ortho would do that (I never did, but I did become the head of the mage's college and a vampire, so who's really winning? lol).
Lilia - Call of Duty. Which one? All. He has the time, he can play them all. I think he would enjoy the aspect of playing on a team and defeating enemies that way, much like he does already with Idia. Now, I personally suck at COD, but my brother does not and I used to watch him play quite a bit. It can be a lot of fun when you know what you're doing and can actually do more strategy than just "point and shoot and hope to heck you didn't miss the dude three feet in front of you".
There you go friend! Those are my answers. I hope you enjoyed them!!!

so. I've just finished the last trial and just. I don't even know what to think of it yet, part of me loves the ambiguous ending but at the same time I want to know what happened (will dr2 address that even?? my fear for spoilers is just too big)
but also like. the artworks?????? the promo arts, character details and all... ended up spending all my coins on it
I liked all of them, but specially 'Here Comes Junko!' and 'Preview Image 1', would definitely buy posters of these
actually that's not true, the Junko character arts (genuine and Mukuro) made me very very very uncomfortable
anyways, sorry for venting to you like that, came to ask your thoughts on the dr1 ending :))
No spoilers. Play DR2. It is.... Let's be honest, I like DR2 significantly more than I like DR1. Also you get to meet my precious child Mikan Tsumiki the most precious child in the series so far who deserves nothing more than a warm blanket and a mug of hot chocolate and good pats on the head.
I had so many coins throughout the game because I kept going back to finish all the FTEs (for the dead characters) between chapters and then had to do the Class Trials again to get back into the chapter I was at but a lot of my coins went to the MonoMono Machine because I was pretending to be a completionist and wanted all of the Gatcha toys. >.>;;;;;
(wait why do the junko and mukuro stuff make you uncomfortable though)
Okay, so like. my concept of the ending was a lot of hype for Junko and then meeting Junko and then feeling like she was overhyped. I think this is a place where the game did better than the anime; at least, I liked how she was done better in the game.
But, and this is important to me, Makoto asked her to leave with them. Like. Here is the mastermind. Who did all of the horrible things to them. Who has said that she caused the most horrible most tragic most despair-inducing event in the history of the world (I probably do not have those descriptors 100% accurate, don't judge me DR fans). And Makoto just. Hey, you want to get out of here with us? Be my new bestie?
M A K O T O. C'MON. Byakuya's going to kill her if she doesn't punish herself what are you thinking. Honestly.
I'm a huge fan of ambiguous endings, though. Particularly in this case. The story isn't about what's waiting for them outside; it's about them surviving. And they survived! ...some of them, at least!
(And so did Monokuma! Apparently! XD)
but also who is your favorite character so far this is the real important question here
OH AND ALSO ALSO if you want additional etc. (I probably won't all the light novels and expanded manga and whatever but I do recommend this one, even if I don't think the writing is great) - I would suggest reading a fan translation of DR0 before playing DR2. It's a prequel! About Ryoko Otonashi! Who has amnesia! And also Junko keeps showing up for some reason and also people keep dying. Around Ryoko. Who insists that this has absolutely nothing to do with her at all absolutely nothing she's absolutely sure of it. (I think this is the fan translation I read.)
Think of it as Dory (from Finding Nemo) is stuck in Danganronpa. Dory who has a notebook where she can write things down so she can remember them later. So Dory but also that guy from Memento. But like. Dory.
(Ryoko is sweet and also deserves better in the same way that everyone in this series deserves better.)

Biju has a point!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He might have but he doesn't need to say it, Mr. Hakoda - I understand your wary but the Ultimate Imposter isn't an Ultimate Despair anymore and will be working towards hope.
Tumblr media
And? Unless I do see that change for myself I can't trust him.
Tumblr media
Kyoko... I think it's fine, he has his reasons to not trust me and I've accepted that; after all, we committed all these crimes so it makes sense to suspect me...
Tumblr media
...If you say so.
Tumblr media
Huh... seems you don't deny it but if you mind me asking - why did you and your class even side with Junko Enoshima? What did you gain from it?
Tumblr media
Well for me, I mostly enroll to gain an identity of my own, to live a normal life and form an identity...
Tumblr media
However, thanks to my teacher - I was never allow that at all; in fact I had to pretend to be her to 'work on my talent' it frustrated me and I couldn't do anything...
Tumblr media
That school... whenever I had hope, it got taken away from me... I really wanted to drop out but due to the parade and then the death of Yukio Miyahira - our classmate, was what made me side with her...
Tumblr media
So you can see why I join Junko Enoshima, that school had given up on our class and taken hope from us far too many times... so while you may not think highly of us but I hope you understand where we are coming from.
Tumblr media
I see... so your teacher never help you at all,...? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprise given how staff was towards most students...
Tumblr media
My teacher didn't really care what we did and the headmaster allow me to leave class as much as I want due to my talent so I can see why you feel that way.
Tumblr media
Oh right... I remember reading that all Future Foundation Heads are former Hope's Peak Academy Students, so what was your talent?
Tumblr media
Ah well, you be surprise but I was the Ultimate Hiker from Class 49 back then, often times I left class to go on trips.
Tumblr media
A Hiker... but you work in the 15th Division which is commented to the economy, right?
Tumblr media
Sorry but I should explain a bit; honestly I mostly do hiking as a hobby more then business unless I want to make a business out of it, in fact I remember a former classmate of mine getting on my case about skipping class way too often for her liking...
...
...
...
Date: September 12th, 1982
*A younger Biju walks back with his backpack*
Tumblr media
Well well, seems your back Biju - I really question why you keep going on these trips.
BIJU: Oh... hello, Emina - your as crabby as ever, huh?
Tumblr media
I'll ignore your snide comment, anyway go attend Class because you skipping would be concerning for any normal school.
BIJU: But I was given permission and why does it matter to you?
Tumblr media
Well some of us want to study in class so maybe take your studying seriously.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I really question if you are even deserving of being called an ultimate if you're always skipping class? If you aren't going to attend class then maybe it's better you drop out because honestly you don't deserve to be here!
BIJU: Well I have my reasons that I don't feel a need to tell you; I just figure I get a bit of a head start plus maybe I just want to avoid certain annoying classmates that won't shut up about being married into some art family or whatever, after all - at least I don't need to constantly bring that up all the time, right Emina?
Tumblr media
...
BIJU: Anywaaaay, going back to bed and heading back for Palau, see you never Mrs Emina Nijiue.
*Walks away*
Tumblr media
Hmph, will see about that - I bet you'll be some homeless man with no future at all!
...
...
...
Tumblr media
She thought I was skipping class and just going on hikes but in reality, I was setting up businesses around the world and even created a whole hotel chain - honestly I had a lot of fun traveling around the world and exploring the sights and cultures, honestly not to brag but I do have a tiny bit more wealth then her family.
Tumblr media
So if I'm understanding right, your an entrepreneur?
Tumblr media
Yeah - I am, I wasn't married and never had kids either but I was mostly focusing on my business.
Tumblr media
I should bring up that while Japan had suffer from the lost decade, India saw a period of economic reform and liberalization and was the world's third largest economy before the tragedy so probably unlike my other classmates - I was way more prepared then the others as the seeds were there during the 80's.
Tumblr media
I did hear about that, India was one of the countries that had a better chance in the 90's...
Tumblr media
I have to say, you surely did think far ahead of your goals - I'm quite envious of you.
Tumblr media
Thanks, happy to hear that... even if it's from an Ultimate Despair and seeing what India was like during the 80's; I think I had my reasons...

Bored so I'm stating my thoughts on every DRS swimsuit sprite
(Part 1: THH)
Tumblr media
Makoto: it's like. Fine lol. Kind of generic but totally fits with his "totally average high school student" thing
Tumblr media
Taka: Accurate. Next.
Tumblr media
Byakuya: Torn between "this looks stupid" and "it's Byakuya we're talking about here, of course he'd wear something stupid and think it would make him look more refined ". Like this looks bad but it's absolutely in character
Tumblr media
Mondo: Eh. Feels almost kinda young for him but I don't really have any better ideas and it does fit his color scheme well
Tumblr media
Leon: Flaming hot cheetos vibes but I'll take it
Tumblr media
Hifumi: Fitting but makes me even more mad that he's stylized Like That. All the other characters had plausible proportions I'm SURE you can do that for a fat character too. Either they all should be cartoony or none of em should be
Tumblr media
Hiro: I guess I get what they were going for but this is too patterned and also not his color scheme at all. Maybe I'm just saying this bc I think orange and green basically never match but yeah
Tumblr media
Chihiro: BEAUTIFUL AMAZING SHOWSTOPPING PERFECT. My favorite outfit so far. Dr may have utterly failed in basically every aspect of Chihiro's writing but they did not fail with this outfit she looks amazing
Tumblr media
Sayaka: This looks dumb sorry. Idk what they were going for but like. Why. The top and bottom of her suit don't even match? (Admittedly her hair being draped over her shoulders weirdly like that is just for this sprite not all of them but still)
Tumblr media
Kyoko. Like. Technically it's better than Sayaka's aesthetically in that at least it matches with itself and her hair ties (in most of the sprites at least. For some reason they're discolored in this only fullbody one.). Still. The thing about me is that I have trouble imagining Kyoko wearing literally any feminine clothing ever so I see this and my mind just goes "OOC" even though she literally also dresses fem in canon
Tumblr media
Hina: Worst one yet. She's literally ultimate swimmer why would she wear this it's impractical and dumb. Also the color scheme is soo different from the normal desaturated red+white+blue she normally wears. The bandaid is an ok touch but that's the only good thing about this design
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I'm sorry Toko's expression is like that; this is the only close-to-fullbody DRS sprite on the wiki)
Toko and Syo (kind of the same outfit so I'll judge it together): I really like this one! Toko having a skirt thing so no one can see her tallymarks but Syo taking it off is a good touch. I wouldn't have thought of blue as her color but it actually really works (and reminds me of Komaru's uniform...)
Tumblr media
Sakura: Cute! Tbh a bit more frilly/cutesy than I would have expected but she looks nice :)
Tumblr media
Celeste: SECOND FAVE AFTER CHIHIRO I <3 IT. Generally Celeste's aesthetic fucks so hard (only tiiiiny criticism I have is that the lace on her suit would look nicer if it was matching in size with that on her headdress)
Tumblr media
Junko: Why so plain??? Like it really doesn't seem to fit with the gyaru aesthetic at all (admittedly I don't know much about said fashion subculture though so I def could be wrong it just looks very different to my eye). Like I feel like this is what Hina should have worn it looks like smth actual swimmers would wear in a race
Tumblr media
Mukuro: REAL LIXED FEELINGS HERE. On the one hand, this is very fitting for someone pretending to be the ultimate fashionista; you've perfectly captured that vibe. On the other hand, why should she have to pretend to be Junko in this context whyyy. (So like generally this aesthetic is good she's getting a good grade in Junko mimicry but the "Mukuro is butch" part of my brain is NOT a fan she shouldn't HAVE to wear that)
Tumblr media
Monokuma: Sure lol. this is fine. Why do you need a swimsuit when you're normally naked

Hi! i hope you're having a good day, could I request some positivity?
so like... i'm chiaki nanami from SDR2. but my timeline was way different from the game in the sense that i was the mastermind behind the killing game. kind of? i was basically manipulated into running it by junko. i don't quite remember what it was, but she was holding something over my head that i would have died to protect. and oh my fucking god i feel so guilty. i loved everybody there. and i was literally part of the reason that the majority of them died, it wasn't a simulation in my timeline. i basically murdered over half of my best friends, the people that had my entire heart. and now i cant even interact with like danganronpa material without feeling so guilty. without the reminder of what i did. and i want to try and find sourcemates because i miss all of them so fucking much but i feel so bad about thinking about that because i don't deserve to reconnect with them, even if they weren't from my timeline i still hurt them!
waugh im so sorry for this :(. tysm and i love your blog btw!
hello, thank you so much for your well wishes! (✿◡‿◡)
you have nothing to apologize for, i promise. this is one of the purposes of this blog.
anyway, i'm so sorry to hear that you've gone through all that. being manipulated into doing something against your will and your values (much less murder!) sounds traumatizing, and it's completely okay to be stressed out about it. you're not a bad person just because you've come from a fucked up timeline, and you don't deserve to be punished in this world for it. this life shouldn't have to be spent with you apologizing for your other life, and you shouldn't be judged by anyone for it... including by yourself.
your worry about your friends shows that you care about them, their well-being, their feelings. the way you regret your actions (you were forced, manipulated, it was barely a choice) shows that you wouldn't hurt them again if you can help it.
however, your being reminded of your actions whenever you see danganronpa media is valid and normal. what happened was traumatic and you don't have to move on immediately, you don't have to pretend it was okay. you are allowed to express your struggles, you need to be supported for having them. you deserve to have your needs met, including be supported in healing from these events.
but you're still allowed to want to, and to find, sourcemates. it's okay, and very common, to miss people you've known. it's okay, and many can relate, to wanting to meet people who understand. i can relate.
sourcemates shouldn't be judging you based on your other life. it wouldn't be fair to assess you as a person without interacting with you beforehand. moreover, you didn't hurt every single danganronpa folk. you've only hurt the ones in your own timeline, not the others. you've never met or even known them, you can't have hurt them. not even by accident, because they're literally from other worlds, other lives, other timelines.
regarding the people from your own timeline, i believe you do deserve to reconnect with them. even if they don't forgive you, i think knowing that you didn't do it out of your own volition (that means you were not the mastermind, Junko was) would make them at least understand why you did what you did.
also, as a person who's done the same thing as you back "home" (though under different circumstances), what helps me is the fact that being the perpetrator of something does not undo my being the victim of something else. this is the same for you. your murders of your friends does not undo the fact that you were manipulated and blackmailed. please try to remember that.
last but not least, thank you for loving our blog! we do try our best to provide a respectful, accepting environment. i hope you have a good day, too. take care and stay safe out there.

Danganronpa 3: Despair arc episode 5.
Thonks.
Into a flashback of kid Ryota being bullied by some kids.
Having rubbish tipped onto him as they call him dirty and taking photos.
Kids are scary man.
Poor Ryota.
And his parents suck, and he copes by watching cartoons.
This got way to relatable.
Cool seeing his set up and such but man he's so stressed which... yeah, shout out to all the artists and animators out there.
Ya'll are great.
Back to Chisa heading to the Reserve Course.
Aaand we don't see it, it's skipped over of course.
I get that it's her punishment and it's a downgrade from her usual class which she loves.
And I know kids can be asshole's.
But I just hate that teaching these kids is considered a punishment.
These kids are looked down upon by everyone at the main school, it's just sad seeing that everyone really was against them.
Hammering the point that any one of those kids could've become Izuru Kamakura.
And for teaching them Chisa was treated awfully for it.
It's werid seeing Juzo calmly talk to someone.
Chisa's heard about the Kamakura project, I think it's too late though.
This sounds werid but I'm kinda glad they're not gonna be able to save Hajime.
Because can you imagine if they got him out and saved him?
The Reserve Course would probably be shut down or something especially knowing where the funds for it were going.
Hajime would be more depressed than ever, and these guys are not the people to give the "You're more than a talent speech."
Unless it's Chiaki than its a whole other story.
But than they'd be seperated and Hajime is back to square one.
... Fuck is the good ending for Hajime bring tortured so bad he literally becomes someone else?
I mean it does get better, hopefully if the end of Danganronpa 2 is any sign.
But man that's sad.
Did not need to re-live Juzo beating Hajime.
Ohh so they covered up Hajime being involved by saying he's been expelled.
Clever.
And looking like Jin Kirigiri wasn't involved, as they say the other staff on the board run the school.
Idk if its better or worse he wasn't involved.
Because either way he's enabling it.
I really like the idea of him being in on it, but than regretting it.
Much like the Director, case of history repeating itself.
And that guilt playing into his actions in the first game.
And partly why he kept Kyoko at arms length, he didn't want her getting caught up into this.
But also knew if Kyoko was near him she would snuff out the project easily.
It's okay if he's not, just makes him both a bad headmaster and a bad father.
"Make sure you're students don't make the news again."
Oh you're in for a rude awakening.
But Nagito's gone missing.
Suspicious.
And we get a shot of the applications of the 78th class.
Hell yeah.
And Jin looking at Kyoko's. Incase we forgot she's his daughter.
... Chisa why would you want to be Munakata's anything nevermind beloved?
Sworn enemy maybe, but beloved?
Aww the class having a celebration for her that's so sweet.
And Chiaki planned it, and she's been holding the class together.
Love that for her.
Fuyuhiko pretending he doesn't care but he does.
Man I missed these guys, even though it hasn't been long at all.
Hiyoko got taller, holyshit.
Gundam and Sonia giving a toast in true Gundam fashion might just be the sweetest thing I've ever seen.
Ryota saying he has no time for friendship.
I get your busy man but you can't stop friendship.
It will find you, you will be friended.
And yes that is a threat.
... Wait a sec... That wasn't Ryota, that's Imposter?!
Twogami my boy! I was wondering where he was.
Awh he's been covering for and looking after Ryota.
That's so sweet.
"This show can't end till its characters get a redemption."
I hope so.
"People can flake you out but carbs are always there."
Same ol Twogami.
He's not wrong though.
A plane and a fancy car.
..... SHE'S HERE.
And she put a bomb in her purse, or her purse was a bomb.
Either way that limo is gone, heh unintentional rhymes.
Junko Enoshima has entered the building.
As fabulous as ever.
And of course she's narrating her own life and insulting Mukuro at the same time.
I like how Mukuro's voice is almost monotone, balancing out Junko's more loud upbeat voice.
Junko's narration including the tragedy, so she had this shit planned from the get go.
This afternoon in fact.
Man imagine joining secondary school like what are your goals?
Oh I'm gonna destroy the whole world.
Can't even call her overconfident because she did it.
Mukuro being... Infatuated? With Junko doesn't suprise me, mainly cos I've seen that clip of them in the limo before.
Without context.
But even than makes sense, they may be the despair sisters but Junko has always been the mastermind behind the whole operation.
And for Mukuro to go through and do this shit for Junko, yeah she's gotta care for her a lot.
... Maybe too much...
The fact they both talk while Junko casually tries to kill Mukuro, I guess that's how they bond.
Because if they wanted to, they could kill the other.
The only one who would and succeeded was Junko.
"What an affect my bloody corpse would have on her."
Honestly, yeah I think it would. Junko wouldn't have killed her if it didn't give her despair.
Love that Mukuro didn't even know about them going to Hope's Peak.
Once again Junko is the brains of the operation.
Love the friendship between Ryota and Twogami.
And it makes sense why Ryota is so focused and why he spends all his time on his talent.
It's all he had growing up he has to make it.
Has to.
Annnd Ryota passed out.
Poor guy.
Twogami, my dude there are better and easier ways to get someone to help you.
Rather than just grabbing Mikan and dragging her away.
Poor Mikan.
So Twogami realised he was struggling and got him to stay with him.
That's sweet.
Probably wasn't the best idea given it enabled him to overwork himself so much.
But still sweet.
I'm sad we don't get to know his name but I guess that's the point.
I like to think if he had one, Ryota knew it.
... AHHHH MAKOTO!!!
My boyyy!!
I didn't think we'd see him in the despair arc, or at least this early but here we are.
Oh Makoto, look at how happy and not traumatised he is.
Savour this moment.
His little pep talk to himself.
Annnd Junko's here narrating about her plan and drawing Monokuma.
Imagine telling her the random kid before her is the one who's gonna defeat her.
"Who knows maybe fate will drop someone into my lap."
Oh it will... And there he is.
Hi Hajime.
And incase we didn't know if already, Juzo's verbal and physical best down of Hajime was the final nail in the coffin and why he agreed to do the project.
Fuck you Juzo.
"You'll be fine."
... No... No he won't.

Are there two characters from each game that the writers went completely overboard with?
DR- I think Yasuhiro is a bit too stupid for my liking and the whole "Kirigiri is a ghost" felt like pandering. Also him calling Sakura "Ogre" got annoying real fast.
-Mukuro in the DR1 anime, she's way to submissive for my liking and I don't get why she acts like that towards Junko.
DR2- I don't think they take Mikan's s*xual assault/bullying trauma seriously at all. And she comes off as way too whiny. And making a character like her the game's fanservice despite her background is incredibly gross. Her Swimsuit is even worse.
Teruteru, yeah he really didn't need to come off as a s*xually depraved bisexual. I saw no point in drugging Hajime in his FTE or his classmates in the anime. I think Ultimate Summer did him justice, and I wish he was written like that.
DRV3- Angie talking about Atua got annoying super fast and I honestly don't think that girl can genuinely think for herself properly. She doesn't have anything outside of Atua.
-Tenko is just a more violent version of Mahiru. And it annoys me that she complained about males being perverts when Miu is right freaking there! Also her blindly believing Himiko even if it gets her and the others killed was straight up awful. Her nicest moment to any of the guys was telling Kokichi to shut up about Kaede's death in front of Shuichi.
//I mostly agree with this, but I also feel that a large part of V3's case feel a little bit overboard, namely because they all seem to ride or die on one big aspect of each of their characters.
//Honestly, I've made clear before how much I hate Hiro and that Angie isn't someone I particularly care for. I still like Teruteru and Mikan despite the...everything, and same applies to Tenko because I don't dislike her as much as I used to.
//I just pretend DR3 Mukuro doesn't exist. It's better for my mental health, and entirely possible.
