There’s a pretty common ASL brothers headcanon that Sabo teaches his brothers things like reading and writing among other things and I do think this is true to a degree. Like of course the bandits taught Ace the basics but you know little Ace and his whole “raaaa don’t tell me what to do. If I stay out of the house I can’t be a bother to you” mindset. And I certainly think Makino and the Mayor TRIED to teach Luffy but he only has a grip on bare basics. So Sabo had to teach more complicated things like grammar, multiplication, division and other things.
And honestly I could see him being a pretty good teacher. He knows how his brothers brains work and how to phrase questions for them so that they would understand. And considering Ace and Sabo had known each other for years by this point I could imagine Ace is use to Sabo being a teacher.
But Sabo as Luffy’s teacher is a little different. Because Sabo watches Luffy struggle with so many things he did when he was little. Phonetic spelling, contractions, fractions even simple things like buttoning up his own shirt are hard for Luffy. And while Ace is quick to call him stupid because it’s easy don’t be a baby. Sabo is patient with him because his own parents never were. He buttons Luffy’s shirts in the winter when he struggles, he sounds out store signs for him and break down maths questions to the point of rocks for Luffy to count. While I doubt Luffy was ever fond of class time, he was almost always met with patience helping him to learn
When Sabo left, Ace would not coddle him the same Sabo did even if he tried to and that Winter after Sabo’s death Luffy learned to button his own shirt and was so proud. He chose to leave Dawn in a button up vest as if to prove to Sabo he was grown enough to survive on his own and he didn’t need to worry.

Can I have a Cafe Au with Barista Ace and Fem reader? Angst # 10 pls. Reader went to a cafe but spotted her ex (in this case, Sanji) and get really depressed. So Barista Ace went to cheer her up. Thank you ☺️
Warnings: Angst
Word Count: 1280
So I got a request for Killer in my 200 Follower Event that this reminds me of so I’d just like to reiterate, just because Ace is comforting her, this is still angst, this won’t have a happy ending. A double prompt, Angst/fluff would, but not a single angst prompt.
Sighing, you handed your card to the black-haired barista, Ace. Originally he was just your boyfriend’s best friend’s older brother, but dating Sanji had meant getting to know Luffy, which, of course, came with Ace and Sabo. You gave a small smile as you walked over to the serving counter, watching as he made your drink. Ace had always been a pretty nice guy, so befriending the barista had been pretty easy and when you learned that he worked at your favorite coffee shop, being friends with him had been even easier. A familiar voice had your head shooting up from looking down at your phone. Sure enough, much to your horror, a familiar blond chatted away as he held the door open for a familiar female. The woman he was currently dating. Why was he here? He never came here? He’d told you he really didn’t even like coming here. A tap on your shoulder drew your attention back to your barista friend, the young man holding your drink out.
“You okay?”Ace asked, looking at you worriedly, even as a customer in line ‘ahemed’ him.
“It’s… a long story and you have customers.” you said, gesturing to said customers. Ace glanced at them before looking back at you.
“Go find a seat, I’ll be there in just a moment.” Ace said with a smile, quickly heading into the back room. You knew that he was probably grabbing his manager or one of his coworkers who was on break, but you honestly didn’t really care as you walked to a small table in the far back corner, hidden away from the prying eyes of most of the people in the coffee shop. Just as promised, Ace was walking over to you a few minutes later, taking off his apron as he approached you.
“Alright, so what’s up?” Ace asked, sitting in the chair across from you, looking at you worriedly. You looked down at your drink for a moment, just staring at it.
“So uh, you know Sanji and I were dating, right?” you asked, glancing up as Ace nodded.
“Yeah, you’re a cute couple.” Ace said with a shrug. You let out another sigh as you took a drink of the warm liquid.
“Yeah, I suppose we were… were being the key word here. He broke up with me about 2 weeks ago.” you stated, not noticing the slightly shocked look on Ace’s face.
“Wait, he broke up with you? Why?” Ace asked incredulously.
“Look over there and you’ll find out.” you stated, pointing in the direction of the blond and his new companion, the blond wrapping his arms around her. Ace glanced over at them, eyes widening.
“Her?!… WHY?!” Ace repeated, ducking his head down when a few heads turned towards his rather loud question.
“Couldn’t tell you, all I can tell you is that my heart hurts when I look at them together.” you said, a few tears falling down your cheeks, landing on your shaking hands as you took another drink.
“Well, uh… listen, you don’t need him. He’s a jerk.” Ace said, rubbing the back of his neck, unsure of exactly what to say.
“That doesn’t make it hurt any less.” you said with a sad laugh, trying to wipe away your tears, only for more to take their place.
“Well, I mean, maybe not, but it’s… I mean… you’ll recover, you’ve been around Luffy enough that I’ve gotten to know you a little and I’ve seen how strong you are. You’ll be okay, and eventually it won’t hurt to see him with someone, hell, I bet you’ll find someone even better!” Ace encouraged, giving you a comforting smile.
“Yeah and eventually they’ll break my heart too. Ace, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Not my first rodeo, it’s just the one that hurts the most often and hurts the worst.” you said, swirling your drink a little before sipping at it again, as if swirling it would make it taste better.
“Hey, that’s not gonna happen! You’re gonna find someone worthy of dating someone as great as you and they’re never gonna break your heart! Just wait, I bet once you bounce back, there’ll be guys just lining up around the block to date you. If I’m wrong then… If I’m wrong then I’ll date you.” Ace said confidently, giving you a playful, cocky smile.
“Oh great, so a pity date? The I’m dating you because no one else will? Yeah, that’s just great.” you hissed irritably, making Ace’s smile fall.
“No, no, no! That’s not it at all! I mean, I get how you got that from what I said, but it’s not what I meant, I swear!” Ace said frantically, waving his hands in front of his face, afraid of your reaction and how he’d phrased things.
“Then what do you mean?” you asked irritably, taking a rather large, angry swig of your drink.
“I-I just… I meant that you’re so amazing that I’m confident that you’ll have guys throwing themselves at you and that I doubt you won’t have them. I was trying to say that if you didn’t then you can stoop to dating a loser like me. No wait! That’s just as bad, I didn’t mean it like that! I meant that you’re so amazing that a guy like me wouldn’t normally have a chance with a girl like you, so I’d totally, or no, that’s-” Ace stopped rambling the moment you started laughing, a true, genuine laugh.
“I think I get it now, Ace. Sorry for getting mad, I just, everything hurts right now, ya know?” you asked, your laugh dying down, turning back into a sad sigh. Ace simply nodded, giving you another comforting smile.
“Give it time. You’ll be okay.” Ace said as you nodded.
Sure enough, it was a few months later that you walked in with a new male at your side, your old smile back on your lips as you ordered a couple of drinks. Ace watched as you kissed the man on the cheek, fists clenched at his side. In all honesty, he hadn’t actually wanted guys to line up around the block for you, hell, he’d driven a couple away with glares when they approached. Even Sanji had been partially his fault, he’d been the one to introduce the girl to his brother’s group of friends. Granted, he hadn’t actually expected Sanji to break up with you, he’d just hoped that you’d get jealous of the girl and leave him. He hadn’t wanted you to be so broken-hearted. Once again, Ace temporarily switched with a coworker before exiting into the back alley.
“Damn it!” Ace shouted, spinning around and punching the brick wall of the coffee shop. Another, then another, until his knuckles bled. He’d wanted you since the day he first met you, he’d felt horrible for causing Sanji to break your heart, but had held out hope that he’d be able to ask you out once you felt better. Perhaps this is what he deserved for what happened with Sanji. He made a mistake that broke your heart, now he was feeling the same pain. Taking a shuddering breath, Ace tried to hold back the tears. He couldn’t put you through that pain again, even if his heart could withstand seeing you like that, there was no way he could interfere with this new guy, he wasn’t friends with him, wasn’t the brother of his friend, he didn’t even know the guy. Instead, he’d have to sit back and watch you be happy with someone else, all the while suffering in silence.

Hello there
Can I please get the straw hats reaction to reader who is an marine admiral quitting the marine and wanting to join the them
Gender neutral please
Thanks for the request!
Luffy
He is ecstatic
Another crew member that he can hold dear to his heart
Unlike most of the crew, you came willingly
Of course, this caused the crew to be suspicious, but Luffy is bouncing around with excitement
I mean he already has two people in the navy who like him, what could go wrong by accepting an Admiral into his crew?
“Show me that move again!” He will constantly be watching you train, and ogle in awe at the amount of strength you have
But be warned, once you show him it once, you’re gonna have to do it again
You’re gonna have to get used to the chaotic nature of Luffy and his “plans” because it isn’t structured like the Navy
But that also gives you more freedom to do what you want… as long as you help/save Luffy on the way
He’ll kinda treat you like a new toy, and after that wears off he’ll treat you like the rest of the crew
Don’t delude yourself though, he is still your captain, and when in desperate situations he will get serious with you (another thing you have to get used to)
8/10 is not bad, but he needs to chill a little— can’t blame him though, you are an ex-navy admiral
Zoro
Opposite of Luffy
Not excited, but suspicious and a little angry
Sure it may be nice to have one less “enemy” and one more crew member, but he is on edge about your allegiance
You could be a spy for all he knows or an underhand way for the navy to kill Luffy and his crew
And he won’t be having any of that
He’ll be taking fewer naps, and opt to watch you instead. He’ll always be tense around you. He’s getting ready in case you attack
He won’t say anything since his captain already accepted you, but that doesn’t mean he’ll welcome you
Don’t think that trying to suck up to him will help you either. He’ll accept whatever you offer (ex: money for a sword), but he’ll only see that as you trying to gain his trust to backstab him later
The only way for you to gain his trust is to a) give them your backstory and why you quit the navy and joined them b) Stay with them long enough to just naturally become a member (as well as help them in ways that hurt the navy— several times) c) nearly die trying to save someone from the crew
After one or a combination of all of those things, he will no longer question you and relax and open up a bit
You’ll know that the first mate trusts you when he’ll share a cup of sake and take a nap— right in front of you
3/10 the only good this is that he’s not cutting your gut open
Nami
She is also suspicious of you too, but she hides it better than Zoro
Instead, she’ll leave the watching to Zoro, and go to Robin to discuss her worries (they are such an iconic duo)
Nami knows that Luffy will accept anyone onto the crew, so she feels responsible for making sure it’s in the best interests of the Strawhats
She’ll weigh the pros and cons carefully and advise everyone to be careful, but at the end of the day Luffy listens to no one
She won’t outright shun you, but she’ll be wary around you
That is until… you give her money
This tactic may not work on Zoro, but it will work on her
All of a sudden you’re her new favorite person
Just sit out on the deck with Nami and Robin and listen to Nami talk about how stupid the rest of the crew is
If you make cool-headed decisions and can stop the crew from getting into disasters, Nami will forever be thankful
It might take a while for her to warm up, but when she does (or when you give her money) be prepared for a feisty friend
7/10 can be unwelcoming, but it doesn’t take much to win her over
Usopp
Like everyone except Luffy, he is wary (and mostly scared, you could beat him up)
Seeing his nervous and pessimistic nature, he would not believe that you are on their side
He’ll try to act cool and distrusting, but once he sees you do something funny he’ll buckle
Bad people can’t be funny - Usopp. At least that’s what he seems to think
If you mess around with him, Chopper, and Luffy you’re good
No suspicions after
He’ll show you his inventions and will prank you from time to time
He’ll welcome you with wide arms
(He’s just glad that he doesn’t have to fight someone so powerful)
He act’s pretty normal
He just treats you like any other crew member
8/10 fun, until he tests out a new invention on you
Sanji
Isn’t really on edge
He knows that he can’t change Luffy’s mind so he won’t bother trying
Of course, he’ll be careful, but he trusts that the crew can handle it if something does arise
As long as you appreciate his food you’re fine
Just don’t waste it
Because if you do, that’s when his unwelcoming side comes out
But I don’t think that’ll be a problem, because his food is amazing
6/10 he is pretty indifferent
Chopper
Is nervous, but if Luffy gives the okay, then it's okay
...right?
Is confused on why you would quit the navy and join a pirate group (just like the rest of them), but he doesn’t ask why
If you get hurt, ad go to him he’ll treat you
Then compliment him and he’ll get all gushy
The moral of the story— just compliment him and you’ll be fine
Hang out with him, Usopp, and Luffy—> and the goofy trio will become a quartet
Make him Cotton-candy and he’ll let you pat his head
It truly isn’t too different from how he treats everyone else, aside from the rocky beginning
He is amazed at how strong you are
(And then he thinks about how difficult things could’ve been if you stayed in the navy)
8/10 nothing to complain about here
Robin
Isn’t on edge
After all, didn't she join similarly?
And she knows that Luffy will do what he wants to do, so she’ll just stick to reading her books
I feel like she would be the most welcoming (without having to do anything on your part)
You can come to her and talk about how you feel like you are somewhat an outcast in the group, and she’ll listen and sympathize
You guys could relate to a lot of things
This doesn't mean she isn’t watching you
She is very observant due to the way she grew up, and old habits die hard
But don’t be too sad, she watches everyone (mostly to make sure no one gets hurt)
If you ask her she’ll give you tips on how to win over each of the crew members
She would know because she had to do it
10/10 super helpful and welcoming
Franky
I can see him being suspicious, but not caring
Again, no one can control Luffy, so he’s just gonna do whatever he usually does
He’ll let you watch him, and help him out with whatever
He’ll joke around, and act pretty normal
He’s still suspicious but he is too super to care
Because he also trusts that the crew can handle anything if things go south
If you can connect him with Vegapunk, I think you would be his favorite person
That’s because he can make more beams
Giving him cola would also help ease his suspicions
6/10 Like Sanji he’s indifferent
Brook
Will quirk a non-existing eyebrow, but your joining would not be the strangest thing he’s seen
He’s gonna try to be welcoming and get you settled since many other members are still on edge around you
He knows that Luffy wants you on the crew, so he’ll do everything in his power to try and make you as comfortable as possible
But he will not hesitate to protect the crew if he thinks you are up to something
His loyalty lies with them, and not you— yet
He can’t afford to lose his crew again, don't be upset about it
But after sailing around for a while, he’ll accept you into the family
I can see you two having tea time, while he asks you what it was like being a navy admiral
And he will admire the fact that you were able to attain such a high rank and respect you as such
9/10 is not bad, and he’ll hide his suspensions well
Jinbei
Does not think it’s a smart idea to accept you on the crew
And he will voice his opinions
But don't worry, Luffy won’t listen anyway
Seeing as he is an ex-warlord of the sea, he would probably somewhat know you. Or at least heard about you before
He just doesn't trust that an admiral would drop their position to sail with the Strawhats
He won’t show his distrust like Zoro (he’s more mature than that), but that doesn't mean it’s not there
He just wants whatever is in the best interest of Luffy
But what is done is done, so he does try his best to push aside his preconceived notions and get to know you and welcome you
Like Zoro, he wouldn’t trust you until you prove your loyalty
I can see him joining the Brook tea times, and listening in on what life was like as and Admiral
And if you’re lucky he’ll share what it was like on Fishman island
8/10 nothing to complain about, other than him being a bit cold

take all the time you need to with this i dont want to rush you,,,
but i explained my situation on discord and was hoping to get a couple of my f/o reacting to a reader who feels that way? if its too much you can delete this,,, i know those are some troubling thoughts so i wont be hurt
as for who,,,,, could i get my main two boys of sanji and luffy,,,,
and if you could see it maybe doffy but if not then hhhhhhhh cora,,,,
or both if you see that and write that many 😅
I'll do all four since my limit is four, but just a reminder, Doffy isn't the best to go for comfort and I do my best to keep the characters in character, so Doffy is going to be a jerk about stuff 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Reader is feeling unwanted/ignore Reader is gender neutral!
Babes Below~!
Vinsmoke Sanji
Tumblr media
He knows what it’s like to be ignored or unwanted, his own birth was a mistake in the eyes of his father and brothers. However, he also knows that not everyone thinks that about him, and the same could be said for you!
When you are feeling these emotions, please let the man know so he can help you! He doesn’t mind listening to you vent or talk about your day, since he’s a mixture of an affirmation and physical lover, be prepared for lots of praises and a hand rubbing your back softly or kisses to your head.
If you get really depressed and can’t find motivation to eat/drink/sleep, he will be a bit harder on you. It’s all in good nature, but he wants to make sure you take care of yourself and know how important you are to him. So, if a lecture or a plead will work, he will do it!
Will suggest hot bathes or eating your favorite meal to help you feel better! If it becomes something more serious where an individual tells you negative things, he will talk to that individual about how deeply words can hurt a person.
Monkey D. Luffy
Tumblr media
Luffy will do his best to understand, however, the brunet has no problems with people not liking him, in actually he probably doesn’t like that person either. So when you have issues where you feel a person doesn’t want you around, he might be a bit confused, but can tell you’re upset.
When he knows you are upset, he will react in a defensive manner, wanting to know who hurt you to the point of crying or feeling depressed. If you don’t tell him or say it’s nothing, he will get quiet, both of you knowing there is more to the story.
Will leave you alone, mostly to calm his own brain as he reacts first and thinks later. It’s something Robin taught him to do, so he figures he could give it a try. Once he does calm down, he will come back and check on you, asking what he can do to help.
Expect lots of hugs! He likes kissing, but hugs feel more intimate to Luffy, they create a warmth that no other touch can bring out. Will mostly cuddle with you and offer you some of his food, maybe even let you wear his hat while he talks about something cool Shanks did when he was a kid.
Donquixote Doflamingo
Tumblr media
Doffy is a God (in his eyes-), he was taught at a young age that humans are below him and he deserves to rule them. So who cares if some low-class mortals don’t like him? If they keep talking his subordinate might have some new toys to play with~
Now as for you, if you truthfully came to the blond, tears in your eyes, telling him you feel unwanted and useless, he will probably chuckle and question you. Would someone as great as him really waste his time on something useless? Now you’re just offending him.
Will suggest you get your head checked, that if you really worry about people’s thoughts on you than maybe you aren’t worth his time. He’s not here for comfort, don’t mistake his interest in you as something sweet like that, you are there for him, that’s all.
Whatever you do to cure your depression, please do not expect him to help, because he will not. I suggest going to Baby 5 or Senior Pink for advice, because all Doffy will give you is another heartbreak.
Donquixote “Cora-san” Rosinante
Tumblr media
Cora is a lot better at comfort than his brother (I mean lot’s of people are, but I digress-), so be prepared for affirmations and bear hugs from this man!! He somewhat understands your pain, he’s been rejected by humans due to his bloodline, but he also was accepted and raised by other humans, so he knows not all of them are bad.
Will listen to what you have to say, will also try to make suggestions and encourage you to talk to these individuals, because sometimes misunderstands happen. If you choose not to, he won’t force you to, but will still remind you every now and then.
Tries to make you laugh by doing something dumb, luckily for him, he’s rather clumsy so that is easy to accomplish! This also might help distract you, as you are now worried about the bump on his head, either way he’s happy you aren’t thinking about negative thoughts anymore!
If you do need more softer love, he will do his best to cuddle with you, however he gets flustered easily, so don’t be surprised to see his face red and him refusing to look at you. He will get there eventually, just not today-
Tag List: @angeltani @admiral-hiba @luxiditea @macdonaldsmanager @onepieceya @undercoverweeeb @simping-master-69 @rosiinante @lukasismissing @xxtoothachexx @1-800-cherri @kodi-bear and anyone else who wants to join in!

Hey bestie if you don’t mind could you possibly do a body swap soulmate AU with Luffy but his s/o is the sister of Kid cause I’m sure he wouldn’t like that Luffy is his lol sister’s soulmate😂
bestieee hiii! omg that's such a cool idea, and it was so fun to write! kid is probably wondering "is this a nightmare?" i hope you like it! ❤
You woke up early and jumped out of the bed. Rushing to the kitchen, still in your pajamas, the crew greeted you. They smiled wishing you a happy birthday, while Killer and Kid brought a cake.
— Happy Birthday, brat. — Kid ruffled your hair. — As you get older, you get less annoying. If you find your soulmate this year, I hope they’re ready to deal with you.
— And I bet I’ll find my soulmate before you even find yours. — you laughed.
The day was full of celebrations, beer and food, while Kid tried to keep an eye on you to be sure you wouldn’t drink too much. The man was quite protective, even though he tried to pretend he didn’t care. It was his duty to keep you safe, not just because he was your captain, but because he was your brother.
Luffy opened his eyes, and found weird enough the fact he couldn’t smell Sanji’s food or Brook singing. Instead, he heard more voices than the usual. Opening his eyes, he noticed right away it wasn’t the Sunny. The boy scratched his head, wondering what this place could be.
He got up and looked around, maybe the Strawhats dragged him somewhere while he was sleeping. Until he found a familiar figure from far.
— Oi, Jaggy! — he said, waving at the redhead, who raised an eyebrow. You’ve never called him that before. In fact, there was only one person who called him that.
— (Y/N)? — Kid asked. — What’s wrong?
— What? No, it’s me, Luffy! — the dark haired boy giggled.
Then it hit him. You switched bodies with your soulmate, and even worse, your soulmate was that Mugiwara. Out of all people, except Trafalgar, why him? Why destiny had to make him your soulmate? Luffy would start thinking they were friends, what a nightmare.
When the others realized what happened, they couldn’t help laughing at their captain’s misfortune, while Killer patiently went to explain Luffy the situation and how to switch back.
Meanwhile, you woke up with the smell of food, but it smelled differently from what Killer usually made. You could hear giggles, singing and weirdly enough, female voices. That was odd, since the crew didn’t bring any girls to the Victoria Punk, since the ship hasn’t docked in a couple of weeks.
You opened your eyes and realized it wasn’t your room. You saw other beds, and the decoration was completely different. Next to you, there was a strawhat, a hat you remembered well, not just from the wanted posters, but also from the time you’ve met the other Supernovas in Sabaody, and later in Wano.
When you realized you switched bodies with Monkey D. Luffy, captain of the Strawhat Pirates, your mind was a little confused. First, you were glad you already had the chance to see who your soulmate was; but also, you couldn’t help laughing imagining your brother’s reaction when he found out. They were rivals, and they were completely opposites.
Kid would probably be angry and against this. But there was nothing he could do, soulmates are meant to be together, right? You deserved a happy ending.
You saw everyone sitting and having breakfast, you even remembered their faces, but didn’t quite remember the names. When you acted shy, unlike their captain’s usual attitude, that’s the first time the crew noticed something was off. During breakfast, you didn’t eat like he did, neither tried to steal food from the other plates.
— Luffy, what’s wrong? — a girl with orange hair asked, she seemed surprised and worried. — You didn’t eat even half of your food.
— I’m full, thank you. — you smiled, hoping they’d buy it. Obviously you only made it worse.
While some seemed to choke on their food after you statement, and even the green haired man, who apparently was asleep, woke up right away. All you could do was look at them asking if you were sick, if something was wrong, and calling a reindeer that would be able to take care of you. Everyone was talking at the same time, and it was hard to try to answer them.
Until a dark haired woman, with a friendly smile, said something.
— He switched bodies with his soulmate. — she giggled. — Didn’t you?
You nodded, and finally everything got quiet. Well, at least for two minutes, until the crew asked many questions at the same time. They wanted to know your name, if you were from an island near them, what you did for a living, and so many other questions.
— I’m (Y/N). — they all got quiet, listening to what you were saying. — I don’t live in an island, but I’m part of Kid’s Pirates. — you said, a bit worried they would treat you different because of that. — I’m Kid’s sister.
Everyone gasped, not even ready to process that information. They remember seeing you many times from far, but couldn’t even imagine you and Kid were siblings. There wasn’t even a small resemblance.
They made you feel very comfortable, reassuring that they’d help you find the Victoria Punk, and fix this situation soon. The day went pretty normal, with the blonde making snacks for you and the other girls, the skeleton asking to see your panties when you switched back, and the cute little reindeer asking questions about you.
The Strawhats seemed to be fun, treating you as part of the crew.
— We’ll arrive in just a few hours if the weather doesn’t change. — Nami smiled. — Are you excited?
— Yes. — you giggled. — A little nervous too. I’ve seen Luffy before, but now it’s different. And thank you for treating me so well.
After dinner, you sat on the deck with the others. You wondered what would happen after switching back. The only thing you knew for now was that you’d miss them.
One or two hours later, you spotted the ship from far. It was exciting, your heart started beating fast and you couldn’t help walking around in circles. You jumped in on the Victoria Punk as soon as the ships were close enough from each other.
— Finally! I had to spend the whole day with him! — your brother glared at Luffy. — He thinks we’re friends now, and he didn’t leave me alone.
— I had a nice time, though. — you smiled. — They’re so cool, and treated me like family.
Before Kid could tell you not to get any ideas, Luffy ran towards you, with his signature giggle.
— Oi, (Y/N)! Killer told me how to switch back. — the boy smiled. — We need to kiss! Let's kiss!
Your cheeks got red, not expecting Luffy to be so straightforward, especially not in front of your brother. When you least expected, the boy pulled you into a kiss. Holding your face with his hands, it was clumsy and even sloppy. He didn’t know what he was doing, and you were caught off guard and couldn’t even kiss him properly. That and the crew having to hold Kid who kept saying “stay away from my sister” couldn’t create a better mood for the first kiss.
Surprisingly, felt his arms wrapped around you, using his devil fruit powers to hold you tight. You opened your eyes and saw Luffy so close, with a wide smile. How you two fell in love? You would never know. It was sometime between Sabaody, seeing each other in Wano, or during this whole day when you were in each other’s body.
— Brother, I want to stay with them. — you pouted. — I want to be with my soulmate.
— No, I won’t let you stay with him! He’s my rival and that’s unacceptable!
— Don't worry, I’ll take care of her, Jaggy! — he smiled, stretching his arms to grab you and pull you closer. — And now that we’re almost family, we can start an alliance!

hey bae!! can u write headcanons of luffy, sanji, and nami, finding out from someone else their crewmate ( reader ) likes them? thanks!! ur awesome
Hey Lovely,
Hope you likey
Luffy
Ah yes the captain,
He definitely needed someone to tell him, he wouldn't assume anyone liked him even if he returned it.
The crew, oh my, they'd be so frustrated. I mean, they see you guys everyday, hanging out catching fish, imitating the crew, and listening to Usopp's stories. They are surprised that someone can handle Luffy the way you do, you make him a better captain.
The crew made a plan, mainly Usopp, Franky, and Nami. Their first attempt didn't go as well, they had sent Usopp to tell him. Usopp didn't flat out say it, he made up some grand story about his love with Kaya, and at the end of it said well like you and y/n. But Luffy was too amazed by Usopp's story and didn't really catch his last bit.
So after that failed attempt, Nami decided that if she wants it done right, she just has to tell Luffy.
So she sits him down, and she is like "Y/n likes you, do you like them?" And Luffy would be oblivious at first, and be like "Well duh, they're my friend. I like them😁" so then Nami explained it, maybe with a few slaps on the head. But then he realized that he likes you just as much as he likes meat.
He wouldn't make a big deal out of it, I mean you like him, he likes you. So he just flat out says to you one day, "You'll be such a great future (queen/king whichever you are) of pirates."
I mean Luffy just stating you'll be there with him, I bet it would feel awesome. From that point, he'd wait to run and explore an island with you. He'd grab your hand and just run along and wouldn't even notice if his arm was stretching because he ran too far ahead.
He would let you wear his hat constantly, no doubt about it. He would make sure you ate even if he was picking off of your plate.
He wouldn't care if you are a girl or boy, he just wants to adventure with you and would make sure you are just as respected as him.
Sanji
Now let's be real, he has a crush on nearly every female he sees so he'd be kinda oblivious when it came down to realizing someone liked him.
You've been on the crew for awhile, and damn the way he smiles at you makes your heart explode. The crew started noticing, even Zoro. No one wanted to upset you by telling Sanji about your feelings without permission.
But then Zoro, him and Sanji were arguing like usual. And he slipped up, calling Sanji such a dumbass he didn't even notice y/n's crush on him.
When Sanji hears this, oh man, that man skyrockets into the sky with a nosebleed. I mean of course he returns the affection, you are so beautiful and gorgeous to him. A person like you having a crush on him, he is through the roof happy.
You watched this unfold with a wide eyed expression, I mean how did Zoro even know you liked Sanji. He doesn't approach you immediately about it, he wouldn't want you to be anxious about it. But instead he'd try to show that he likes you back.
He'd focus on you, not necessarily ignore Robin and Nami but he is less flirty than he was before. I mean this man refuses to even hurt a lady, he wouldn't want to hurt your feelings at all by flirting with another woman.
He'd wake up in the morning, to make you your favorite breakfast and grab you your favorite drink to have with it. He'd go shopping with you in mind for his meals. And he'd plan exactly how he'd tell you he returns the affection.
It would be romantic, I mean he is one of the biggest simps ever. He would do it privately, take you to a romantic secluded spot or cleared out the ship and lit candles and set up a fancy dinner.
He'd pull out your chair, make everything super proper, and he'd flower you with compliments and confess to his feelings without necessarily bringing up yours. And would ask you to be his girlfriend, and once the deal was sealed, he'd kiss you in a respectful but passionate way.
Now if you are a guy, this would probably be a little harder on him. Not that he'd be opposed but, he definitely has some internalized homophobia, I mean look at his reaction to his timeskip island. I still think he'd act the same but with an edge of shyness.
He wouldn't necessarily call you beautiful or gorgeous but instead Handsome and Charming. He'd daydream of saving you countless times, being your knight in shining armor, he might even have a few of you saving him (he may even picture a dress on himself if it's post timeskip) .
Nami
Robin is totally who told her. Robin observed the relationship, she saw all the exceptions Nami made for them. The lack of charging them for things, letting them watch her draw maps, even letting them near the treasure.
Robin would've asked a few questions first before outting your feelings. She wouldn't want to embarrass you at all, so she'd make sure Nami returned feelings first.
She'd ask if Nami was interested in a relationship at any point, then if she was interested in anyone currently. Then she'd be like, well I noticed Y/n seems to be interested.
Nami would react nonchalantly about it, I mean she knows she's gorgeous and cute. But she'd secretly be happy about it. She wouldn't wait much time.
She'd approach you, depending on how long you've known each other will change how she responds.
She may just go up to you and kiss you real quick. And hope that you ask her out then and don't act like an idiot.
But she also may just approach you and say she knows you like her and that she likes you too and give you a kiss on the cheek.
But either way you are going to have to ask her to be your girlfriend, she'll say yes. It'll become quality time and gifts that she uses to show she likes you.

Summary: simple headcannons when s/o on her period
Characters: Vinsmoke Sanji, Roronoa Zoro, and Trafalgar D. Water Law
Notes: First post, I hope you enjoy!! Also sorry if some of the ideas seem to over lap, I tried to stick close to their personality
━━☆⌒*.
Vinsmoke Sanji
Honestly this man is just the best. I fucking love him
honestly Sanji’s one of those boyfriends who would never be disgusted or freaked out. He knew that it was a natural body function for women although he doesn’t know much about periods, he never once is disgusted.
always makes you what your craving, hot drink, and pampers you with back massages and cuddles and all that shit. If you think he treats you like a princess now, just wait till its that time of the month.
He also makes sure to be in his best behavior. He tries not to flirt with Nami and Robin as much, or get into fights with Zoro. Your moods always vary and he for sure does not want to be the reason your upset.
Always willing to drop anything he’s doing at the moment for you and do anything, Besides cooking where he’ll just have you hang out in the kitchen until he’s done. You want a bath? He’s get the bubbles ready. You want something to revile the cramps? He’ll wrap his arms around you stomach and rub it in a soothing manner. You wanna eat all day? Say no more, he’s a cook for god sake
your always gonna find yourself asleep in his arms every night, no doubt about it. Normally he would always end up joining you in bed after you fell asleep but when you said you were on you period he told the others (mainly Franky and Usopp) to clean up for him
And for those nights your flow is a bit heavy and you leak, He drew a bath for you, washed your clothes, prepared you some water, cleared up the bed and was right back with you in the bathroom. Without a second thought. He doesn’t give to shits about the crew. You are his first and only priority for the night.
honestly I simp for this man as much as he simps for girls
Roronoa Zoro
‘wtf is a period’ that’s all. This man does not understand and he will continue to not understand. ‘Blood = Pain’
you can try and explain it but he just not gonna get it.
He’s hardly has like any experience with girls, besides maybe like a hook up or 2, girls are a foreign subject to him. So when you get your period, you have to try and not freak him out
You don’t mind it either, you don’t want to stress him so you end up doing your own thing (not to different from normal days anyways) but behind closed doors is a whole other thing
His practically all over you, asking if your ok, if it hurts, what even happens on a period. It’s like so out of character for him but you found it so cute. He was like a giant child.
When you first started dating and your on your period, Zoro totally did not cuddle you because he was sacred he was gonna squeeze too hard and you end up bleeding even more. He’s so one of those people. Once you tell him over and over again that’s not gonna happen, he’ll of course cuddle with you non-stop
This man only does 3 things: train, drink, and sleep so of course most of the time the only way he knows how to help you is to sleep. In bed your gonna be in his arms, when he sleeps on the deck your gonna be in his lap
And for those nights to happen to leak, mans probably won’t lay a fingers until he doesn’t feel your warmth in bed. So after he figured you were taking a shower, he gets what ever motivation he has to get up and wash the sheets. Of course, you still end up falling asleep in his lap but still you like super duper greatful that the lazy moss head cleaned up for you. It honestly just saved you the hassle of trying to wake him up (you have better luck stealing Luffy’s meat...)
Even tho his man may not know what to do or even how to act, your just greatful that he’s willing to let you cuddle with him. Even in public because nothing’s better than small dose of physical touch (although I wouldn’t know with my single ass 😔✋🏻)
Trafalgar D. Water Law
This mans a doctor, need I say more
He’s all like ‘no sweets, tons of water, make sure you stretch’ all that jazz
you listen, not wanted to make the man upset. But you can always count on his crew so sneak you some chocolate but this happens once before Law finds out. He’s not happy but let’s it slide...this time
Unlike Sanji and Zoro, this man his all medical attention. In his mind he’s doing it because he loves you. He only wants the best for you, so he’s gonna make sure your health
In public that mans gotta keep up his stoic personality so all he’ll do is check in on you from time to time, asking if you have any cramps or if you feel light headed. Nothing much just simple stuff.
In pravite though, he’s kinda like Zoro, over you but in a more ‘mature’ manner (does that even make sense??) He’ll ask all his normal questions, then provide you with a glass of water, give you some medicine or a heating pad, sometimes even does your chores around the ship.
You might still have to beg for him to lay in bed with you or even give you a kiss. He’s a busy man so he’s not going to just drop everything for you. Especially when this happens once a month but if your lucky he might just happen to stumble across a book that caught his interest, who knows *wink wonk*
Honestly, you don’t even have to worry about your period that much. With all the health stuff and water and care his gives your hardly even cramp and it’s never long which is honestly such a huge blessing. You always make sure to thank him whether it’s a kiss, extra chores, or something more ;))

The Voyage So Far: Skypiea
east blue (1 | 2) || alabasta (1 | 2) || skypiea || water 7 || enies lobby || thriller bark || paramount war (1 | 2) || fishman island || punk hazard || dressrosa (1 | 2) || whole cake island || wano (1 | 2)
Tumblr media
the bar scene in jaya is one i didn’t really get the first time i read it- like nami, i mostly found luffy and zoro’s refusal to fight back frustrating more than anything else. i didn’t realize the connection to shanks in the prologue until someone else pointed it out awhile later, but when i did, it made me appreciate the entire sequence and luffy’s choices a lot more.
Tumblr media
honestly, i know this is one of the pages that gets the most attention from jaya, and it absolutely deserves it. blackbeard here is effectively dropping one of the biggest main themes of the series- people’s dreams don’t end!!- and how interesting that we get that delivered by the antagonist to the protagonist, instead of the other way around? how often do you see a series do that?
and the line hits. look at the emphasis. there’s absolutely nothing on these two pages except for the three strawhats, blackbeard, and blackbeard’s line, bigger than anything else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
chapter 232, with luffy punching out bellamy in one hit is still, to this day, probably my favorite one piece chapter. it opens with the drunk pirate seeing the newspaper with luffy’s hundred million bounty and realizing just who bellamy was kicking around, and it hits on one of my favorite plot threads of one piece- the growing infamy of the strawhats and luffy in particular, and their rise in the world.
the atmosphere of the whole scene is so good, the tension in their air, the way all the bar patrons jump when luffy yells for bellamy to come out- and when the hit comes, the satisfaction is visceral.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’ve talked about it before, but god, i LOVE the way one piece defines “romance”- the arthurian kind of romance, the adventurous kind, that romanticizes the world and its wonders- romance dawn. in an arc as thematically heavy as jaya, it makes sense that it, too, is explicitly brought up. can you think of a more romantic, impossible adventure than traveling to the sky?
Tumblr media
nami’s confidence when faced with the task of navigating into the sky is so fantastic.
Tumblr media
the expressions, and the art in general, in skypiea, are really so lovely. look at the variety between the strawhats when they first emerge from the white-white sea to lay eyes on angel island. look how expressive they all are!! i have such a soft place in my heart for the art in these earlier arcs, honestly.
Tumblr media
somewhat related to the above: there are so many little moments in skypiea where the strawhats just get to have FUN, and be stupid, and get fleshed out more as characters, and honestly it’s such a delight. also, everyone’s skypiea outfits were just really really good. cowboy hat robin... i miss u every day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i really like the whole scene where robin is exploring the ruins, and these panels in particular have such a lovely sort of ethereal look to them. i love seeing robin doing archeology, i think for the same reason i love to see sanji cooking- the strawhats are all such cool and passionate people, and it’s really really nice to see them doing and talking about the things they love and excel at most.
Tumblr media
i’m sure i’ve said it before but i LOVE how logia powers are depicted, especially when used to avoid an attack. it’s so cool. ace’s cover story runs through most of this arc, and we get some great examples of it there as well.
Tumblr media
1. wife
2. skypiea is SUCH a good character-building arc for robin- which is good, because the next saga is almost entirely predicated on how much both the audience and the strawhats care about her. it’s here where we learn about her passion for archeology, her reverence for history, and get a much better look at the softer sides of her personality and her fast-growing admiration and affection for the strawhats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
man, enel has so many huge, terrifyingly powerful shows of force throughout this arc, but this right here, this little sequence where he appears behind raki between panels without warning and we see him reflected in her eye, communicates better than absolutely anything else just why he’s a nightmare.
Tumblr media
“jonny you sure are posting a lot of panels of zoro being cool without any real commentary” yeah. he kicks ass in this arc
Tumblr media
conis is a very underrated character, i think. she’s pretty easy to overlook, but she also manages to completely break the indoctrination she’s been raised into and gambles her own life to save most of the population of angel island from complete extermination. she yells that she doesn’t recognize enel as god, an instant death sentence at any other time, just to get them to listen to her.
there’s a moment, in this scene, where a boy throws a rock at her for insulting enel, and she just stands there, and lets the blood trickle down her face, and keeps making her case. honestly, i really like her.
Tumblr media
look at this page. look how it’s framed. luffy in the foreground, taking up most of the page- enel in the background, tiny, inconsequential.
now that’s how you draw god’s natural enemy.
Tumblr media
this is one of my favorite nami character moments in the whole manga. nami is a greedy person. she has a lot of things she wants. it’s one of her defining traits.
but when faced with someone with godlike power, offering her absolutely anything she wants if she’ll just abandon her friends and come with him- she doesn’t want anything, for that price, even with her life on the line if she declines. she knows exactly what her treasure is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
obviously this is an awesome panel, but sanji’s little smile just before enel strikes him is what really, really makes it for me. he’s about to get slammed with several thousand volts of lightning, but more importantly, nami and usopp are going to be safe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the skypiea flashback is one of my very favorites, and also the first time one piece ever made me cry. i nearly cried just flipping through it again for this post. it’s just so fucking devastating.
noland never stopped looking, and calgara never stopped waiting, and neither of them ever lost faith in each other despite how badly they fell out at the end, and wow, that just kills me. but at the same time, it makes the way the flashback and the main story come together at the end so satisfying and cathartic.
Tumblr media
i do think skypiea has one of the best climaxes of any arc. the way all the disparate elements and plot threads- enel, the story of noland and calgara, the war between the skypieans and shandians, cricket’s search down on jaya- come together and tie up so perfectly that the entire arc can be ended by the ringing of a single massive bell is nothing less than genius writing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i really love the establishment of roger’s poneglyph message and all the things it implies here. it raises so many questions, most of which we’ve only now gotten answered, in wano. oda’s capacity for long-term storytelling is one of his greatest strengths, and this is probably one of my favorite examples of it. (see also, in jaya when sanji mentions offhand that he was born in north blue.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i just really love seeing them all smiling, and i love the parallels to calgara and noland’s sendoff here. feels like a wound finally healing, after four hundred years.
Tumblr media
and, of course, it ends with cricket, asking what crazy, romantic dream they’re going to chase down next. because this is one piece!! just because you find the end of one rainbow doesn’t mean you stop looking for the next one.

Chapter One » Target
Tumblr media
A/N : obviously my starting out isn’t going to go well but I’m sure it’ll get better, hopefully. Let’s just hope! And enjoy!
and I know I mentioned who would be included in here, but I’d like to know your thoughts if there are any characters you wish to have as love interests! :> it’s so I can confirm and get an idea.
Masterlist | Chapter Two
-
MULTI-BILLIONAIRE CEO PASSES ON — [LASTNAME] INC. TO FALL?
“[Name] [LastName]? I heard her father passed away last week.”
“No way, the [LastName] corporation is bound to fall without their CEO, what’s going to happen now? Is she going to take over?”
“She’s so young, I doubt they’ll hand everything to her. She doesn’t have the backbone to handle it.”
Walking past the gossiping pair, you tilt your head to the side and after a minute of walking, your shoulders relax and you heave a sigh.
“People don’t have anything better to do but gossip.” You thought, expression holding a look of disinterest, as you glance down at your necklace.
The only memory you had of your mother.
It was a simple, small and cylinder-like key, silver and hooked onto a thin silver chain. As if it was some sort of screw, in other words. Too bad you never found out what the key actually led to or unlocked.
Not like you actually looked around though.
If it wasn’t the last thing you had of your mother, you probably would’ve thrown it away by now.
Tucking the necklace inside your shirt, you make it to an ice cream stand on the street and stop in front of it, standing behind a tall ravenette.
It seems like it’ll be a while before the male would choose something though. You purse your lips and look to the side. ‘Maybe I should just go..’
“Oh, my apologies, miss. You can go on ahead, I’m actually waiting for a friend, I’m not in line.”
You look back to the male and found the freckled face smiling at you kindly. Blinking, you glance at where he was standing and where the vendor was, and felt a blush creeping up onto your cheeks. “Oh..”
‘So i’m just stupid.. idiot.’ You internally curse yourself before nodding at the tall male. “Er.. sorry. Thanks.”
He merely chuckles and waves it off, returning to his phone that was in his hand as you move ahead to the vendor behind the stand.
“What can I get ya?”
You ponder for a few seconds before stating what you wanted from the ice cream vendor. Once the salesman gets your desired ice cream, you hand the cash over to him and take the ice cream.
Gripping the fabric of your mask, you pull it down to your chin to reveal your face and lift the ice cream to your lips.
Thanking the man, you walk away and just as you proceed to take a bite, a sudden loud crash interrupts your process. ‘Gunshots?’
Screams erupt from people around, some quick to start running away, others freeze still in fear at the sight.
Before you could even do a thing, shouts are heard and running figures chasing after a speeding bike.
“Ace, it’s time to go!”
Amidst the shouts and screams, the motorbike pulls up near you and the freckled man from before is quick to hop onto the back, behind the one driving. “Marco? What happened?!”
“I’ll explain later, just get on!”
“Hey! Stop right there!”
“Don’t shoot, you can hurt the civilians!”
The blonde behind the drivers seat, his hair a little messy and half-lidded eyes, held a cigarette between his teeth clicks his tongue and revs up the gas. “Shit.. hold on!”
Just before they drove off, you made direct eye contact with the blonde for a brief second before he broke it.
With that, the bike begins to drive off with speed, the men in white-clad police uniforms with guns strapped on their backs continue to chase them before stopping in defeat once the motorcycle was out of sight.
“Damn it! We were so close to capturing one of the Whitebeard members!”
“Forget about it, we need to get back to headquarters. Let’s go.”
The men began to retreat back, you just standing still in shock at the event that just occurred and ended in like five minutes.
‘What the hell?’
Slowly biting your ice cream that was melting in your mouth and a bit on your hand, you look back at where the bike had disappeared to.
Your mind wanders back to the blonde from before. “What was with that look?.. Did he recognize me?..”
Muttering to yourself, you continue to eat your dessert, deciding to make way back to your place, before your father’s assistant could lecture you.
‘This is why I don’t leave the house.’
-
“Miss [Lastname], you’re back early this time.”
You plop yourself onto the couch of your living room once you made it and laid down, heaving a heavy sigh. “Yeah.”
Pulling off the black mask around your ears, you laid it on your chest and shut your eyes.
“Any particular reason?” The raspy, deep voice asks from the hall, coming into the living room and standing at the entrance, his eyes taking a look at your sprawled form on the couch.
Sitting up slightly to get a better look at the assistant, you watch him stare just as intensely back at you with his sharp dark eyes.
Axel.
The male was dressed in dress shoes, black slacks and a ironed white button up, with the sleeves pulled up to his elbows. He had rounded, silver thin framed glasses that rest just above the bridge of his nose. His tousled black hair brushed over his eyes a bit, and if you didn’t know better, you would’ve assumed Axel was a CEO owner himself.
But he was nothing but an assistant to one. Or, formerly was. You were surprised he still stuck around after your father passed.
Keeping the eye contact for a few more seconds, you shut your eyes and turn onto your side, facing the backrest of the couch. “No, just didn’t feel like receiving a lecture from you.”
The scoff that escapes his lips is heard as his footsteps come towards you.
“You deserve my lectures, you always seem to forget them.” He says, picking up the mess of magazines on the coffee table and stacking them neatly together.
“I can’t forget something I don’t bother remembering, so— ACK!”
Axel is quick to roll up one of the magazines and whack the back of your head without hesitance, a slight scowl on his lips. “Perhaps you should start remembering then!”
You sent a glare to the older male and rub your head to soothe the pain, keeping shut to prevent yourself from possibly getting even more hurt.
“Now, come on. Get dressed so we can get going to meet the lawyers.”
Furrowing your brows, you look at him in confusion, watching him place the magazines away onto the shelf. “Lawyers, what for?”
He tilts his head behind him to glance at your expression. “Your father’s will. To confirm your inheritance of his belongings so you can be given all his things.”
“Ah....” You then lay back down with force and groan out. “No way! I don’t want to handle all that! Why don’t you just take it?”
“Take everything that the owner of the [Lastname] company owns? No, thank you.” Axel mutters, pushing up his glasses with his index finger from the side.
“You don’t want it?”
“I don’t think I’m capable of handling something like that, much less when I’m not supposed to in the first place. Besides, my hands are full with taking care of a helpless, troublesome, lazy-ass toddler.”
“Oh? Who?” You smugly feign innocence whilst turning away, causing Axel to roll his eyes as he brushes a gloved hand into his black locks of hair.
“Funny. Now, if you don’t get your ass up, Miss [Lastname],” he clears his throat loudly. “We’ll be late to discuss your father’s will with the lawyers.”
“You’re so mean sometimes.. what kind of assistant are you?”
Ignoring your sulking, Axel proceeds to walk away to start the car, but not before releasing a soft sigh at the female.
“What am I going to do with you?..”

With the Straw Hats Crew «
“What do you think, Luffy?”
The navigator looks to their captain on the end of the dining table, rolling up the newspaper in her hand after reading the headlines aloud.
The male was busy shoveling meat into his mouth to listen but merely nods. “Sure! *omn nom* Sounds like an adventure!”
“God, you’re hopeless...”
The archaeologist lets out a little giggle. “He never ceases to amuse.”
“If we get our hands on that treasure, we can have everything?” The long-nosed questions, crossing his arms and the taller, Afro-wearing man laughs. “Yohoho~ how exciting!”
-
With the Heart Crew «
“The chance to have everything you could desire..”
“Wealth, power, love..”
The big polar bear in an orange-clad jumpsuit hums. “Should we try to acquire it, Captain? It won’t be easy.”
The doctor / leader of the group leaned against the wall silently, arms crossed as he thought about it, the newspaper headlines laid across the table.
“We’ll have to come up some plans to get it, considering we’ll have to make contact with her somehow.”
-
With the Kid Crew «
“To get the chance to have all power and money in the world, huh?” The red-head smirks dangerously as he listens to his right hand discuss the newspaper article.
“Think this through, Kid. Won’t be easy to capture the girl, and I’m sure we aren’t the only ones looking to get this treasure.” The masked blonde warns, but the red-head wasn’t listening.
“How unfortunate for her to have to experience such a thing, but I will get my hands on her and that treasure, no matter what it takes.”
-
With the Whitebeard Crew «
“I see..”
The tall, older, white haired man comments as he sits in his chair, hands resting in his lap.
“We actually drove by her on our way here after the run-in with the police. Eating ice cream.” The blonde says, shifting his weight and resting a hand on his hip.
“And you’re positive it was her?” A tall orange-haired male questions, wearing a yellow foulard.
The freckled man nods, smiling a bit. “I’m sure. She stood behind me in line, thinking it was to get ice cream.” He laughs lightly at the memory.
Another voice chimes in, belonging to a rather beautiful man with a sexy deep voice. “Well, if it truly is her, I guess we won’t have to look far. Question is, how we’ll get in touch with her again.”
The older, bigger man in front merely laughs. “Not a problem, my sons. Leave it to me.”
-
With the Police «
“It’s a danger to have that so carelessly around, if it lands into the wrong hands, we can have a tragedy.” The rice-cracker eating leader states, arms crossed as he stares hard at the picture of the female under the headlines.
“So you intend to confront her about her father’s belongings, then?” The old man on the couch of his office asks, picking his nose with disinterest.
“E-Excuse me, sir.. but would it be in the wrong hands.. if Miss [LastName] is supposed to inherit her father’s things?..” the pink-haired male shyly asks, sweating a little bit in fear of having interrupt the two.
“We don’t know for sure, that is why I insist we should hold her here for questioning and her intentions!”
-
With the Revolutionaries «
“It’ll be interesting, to say the least.” The blonde with goggles around his top hat hums, a smile present on his lips as he leans back in his chair.
The brunette female with a bright smile just sighs. “Thats for sure. No doubt that everyone will be having their eyes on that one of a kind opportunity. What should we do?”
“My, my, imagine being able to wield such power! No wonder her bounty is so high in the black market! Going for over a billion beli’s!” The extravagant purple haired man exclaims. “I must meet her face to face!”
-
“Ah— Achoo!”
Sniffling, you rub your nose and let out a sigh, groaning slightly.
“Oi, you better not be sick, Miss [Lastname]. We don’t need you to be catching a cold at this time. I’m not going to be taking care of you.” Axel warns, eyes lingering on you and you huff in annoyance.
“Shut up, Axel..”
-

a/n : hi! I’d love to know what you think of this so far and what you think of Axel! I might post this on Quotev as well but I can’t say for sure.
So it’s not great, but not horrible, but regardless, I hope you enjoyed it! :>

Why don’t you listen to me? Law x GN! Reader - Part 2
Spoilers for : Punk Hazard and Dressrosa arcs [No gender used for the reader, no physical description, everyone is +18] Words : 6809 Archive of Our Own A bit of angst, of fluff too! Bad flirting, if you can call that flirting. No warnings, if you feel like I should put some, send me a DM or an ask!
... Part 1
“How did that stranger get here?” A gentle voice said. “That’s super weird, I didn’t see anyone when I brought the Sunny around the island!” This one is so much louder. “Are there any injuries? Should I take a look?” “Wait, Chopper! I’ll go tell the captain, see what we have to do.” This person had common sense, warn your captain first before taking any course of action. Taking a deep breath, I was about to open my eyes when I started choking on the smoke that was around the room. Sitting up quickly, I put my hand on my nose and threw a glance around the room as I saw a man in a suit going down the stairs, the smoke following him. My eyes then looked around some more and I saw a small reindeer next to me, along with two other members of the Straw Hats crew. Giving them a smile, I quickly realized the situation and cursed under my breath.
Throwing my coat on, I stood up and apologized profusely, “I did not mean- I had planned to wake up before you all came back but I fell asleep and- I’m not hitching a ride or anything I was waiting for my captain- he doesn’t know I’m here though, so that kind of sounds strange-“ I was interrupted by the sound of my name being called by an all too familiar voice. I winced visibly as I turned around, making the three people in front of me chuckle as they stood up from beside the bench. “Captain.” I said in a composed tone, now seeing Luffy right next to my captain, he seemed confused. However, he did not have time to ask any question that the infamous Black Leg told everyone to leave us alone, which they did. It was awkward to wait for them to go down the stairs, but once they did, we were truly alone.
That’s when I felt my heart tighten in my chest. “You lied to me.” He said as he approached, taking his hat off before walking past me and sitting on the bench behind me, his elbows resting on his knees.
“I didn’t, I said I’d get off Punk Hazard and- I did I went on this boat so-“ I was cut off,
“Don’t play with words, do you know what happened out there?” he asked in a way too serious tone. Shaking my head, I took off my coat once more, feeling too hot in this room now that he had joined me. I put it on the ground and sat in front of my captain, trying to meet his eyes.
“A gaz-“ he paused, composing himself, “If you had been out there you could have…” he trailed off, running a hand through his hair before sighing. “It doesn’t matter now, it’s over.” He grunted, putting his hat back before standing up. In panic at grabbed his hand and sat him back down, he wasn’t even talking to me. He was not even feeling angry like before, or frustrated. He was resigned. I didn’t like that.
 “I’m sorry captain-“
“Law, just Law.” He said. I was caught off guard, but nodded before resuming.
“I’m sorry for disappointing you- I… I keep repeating myself but I was just worried and I realize I disobeyed your order and I’ll stop doing that. I’ll just return to the submarine I’m sorry… Please don’t kick me off the crew?” I tried to play the last part off, as a joke but I was truly worried I had unnerved him to the point where he would have had enough. I thought I could make him understand I cared by… well, being worried but I just really had a hard time sharing my emotions.
“It’s too late for that,“ He grunted.
A knot in my throat. I couldn’t really speak when I heard his words but I nodded as I stood up. “Understood, I’ll get my stuff and leave-“ “I meant, to return to the submarine, look outside, we’re already on our way to Dressrosa.” Pointing at the window with his slender hand, I shuffled to my feet and noticed all the blue that surrounded us.
“I would apologize but, I don’t think I could have stayed at Zou knowing you’d be off on your own, so…” Facing Law again, I saw the small smirk that had drawn itself on his features as a huff laughed escaped his lips. “What has gotten in your head to follow me?” he asked, a bit curious, while leaning back on the bench, his arms resting on it. I hid my grimace, it wasn’t the first he had asked me that question and at some point, I was bound to be honest with me, but that moment had not come yet. “Bepo-“
“Don’t tell me Bepo was worried, he already told me that you were the one that insisted to go.” He stated in his low and beautiful voice- come on, focus, you’re caught, find an excuse!
Grabbing my coat from the floor, I let out a nervous laugh. “Right, I had forgotten that- I already told you I was worried, that’s all I can give you captain.” His brows furrowed quickly, and I chuckled as I quickly muttered his name instead of his title. Sitting down next to him, I let enough space between us for at least one person to sit; I may have a crush on the man but I did not plan to act on it, so I had to not give off the wrong idea.
“If I’m being honest, I just feel like you’re about to do something crazy. It’s a gut feeling, and maybe I’m wrong, but hey, I can’t go back now, so you’ll have to bear with me until we’re back with our friends.” Tipping his head down, Law laughed lightly but it felt off, almost dark. Then he raised his head and met my eyes with his grey ones.
“I’m going to kill Doflamingo.” He stated.
I blinked a few times at his words, taking in what he had said. Kill… Doflamingo, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. The previous smile on his face had disappear in an instant as he looked off to the window, his cool attitude changing entirely as he grabbed his sword and held it with both of his hands. He had talked about that man, the awful things he had done. Nothing good came out of him, nothing, and while I did not condone murder, I did not feel anything if he were to disappear of the face of earth.
“I understand, I hope it’ll bring you what you seek- I’m not really one for revenge but if you think it’ll help you-“
“It’s not about helping, it’s about doing what’s right- it’s about following Cora-san’s will!” I felt so small when Law stood up and was now towering over me, pushing him away slightly, I stood up too but didn’t move. Instead, I gave him a warm smile.
“I see, I’m sorry for misunderstanding. Do you trust the Straw Hats enough to have them help you with something personal like this?” He was probably irritated enough to not have me here; I should probably just make myself small. Or not, I was not like that, but I would try to not get on his nerve too much. His expression lightened and he stepped back, putting his sword back on the bench.
His form slouched, he shrugged, “It’s an alliance, they’re strong. It’s enough for me.”
I couldn’t hold back my chuckle as he said that, I could see he was getting along with their captain. I’m sure they were on the same wavelength, or else he wouldn’t have suggested this alliance. “I see a blooming friendship, that’s so beautiful Law- admit it you like him,” Nudging his side with my elbow, I was hoping to get a confession out of him but instead he grabbed my arm and stopped me.
It was always fun to tease him, it was hard to get a reaction out of him but when I could, it made my day. Right now, even though he reacted some way, I could feel the warmth of his hand through my shirt. Part of me really wanted that hand to hold me, I kind of wanted to stay there longer but instead I chuckled nervously and grabbed his hand to free my arm. “Promise, I won’t tell them you’re actually growing fond of them.” I said teasingly, for a moment there I felt my face heat up for some reason. I shouldn’t be acting like this around my captain, right? Sighing in fake exasperation he repeated that it was just an alliance, and I shrugged while walking towards the door. “I can read you like a book captain Law; nothing escapes me.” Shaking his head, he followed me, making sure to not forget his sword.
“Right. Well, now that you here, I’ll introduce you-“ Cutting him off I shook my head, “I can do that just fine by myself, I think I recall my name just fine too.” I told him jokingly. A gasp escaped my lips as, from the corner of my eyes, I saw the small paper I had left on the bench, Law’s vivre card. I rapidly took it before following him outside, “But you’re my responsibility, for being a member of my crew.” He paused, then on a lighter tone continued, “And a stowaway.” A cackled escaped my lips as I placed my hand on his shoulder before teleporting us down to the deck, where people seemed to be interacting together, they weren’t really talking considering the people running around the deck while being chased by the ginger woman. “That’s the alliance?” I asked Law, barely above a whisper, as I leaned closer to him. He tilted his head forward but didn’t say anything, instead he removed my hand, that was still on his shoulder before turning towards me with a frown.
“You’re freezing- why didn’t you say something earlier,” The way he said my name at the end of his sentence sent shivers down my spine, goosebumps all over my skin, if he could say it like that again I would enjoy it greatly. Get yourself together, he’s a doctor of course he’d get worried over your dumb ass, I told myself before pulling my hand back.
“It’s alright, I did sleep through worse when I, not so discretely, watched over you on Punk Hazard.” I said sheepishly. But the sheepishness probably made it worse as he told me to stay put before he walked off to the elegant black-haired woman, she looked so kind and poised on her chair as she read her book amidst the chaos that was happening on deck. Talking with her, Law then turned around and pointed at me, the woman’s face lit up and she waved at me before smiling oh so beautifully.
Waving back, I reciprocated the smile which seemed to annoy Law since he turned around quickly, pulling his cap down before resuming his discussion with who I assume was Nico Robin. My focus was brought to a loud voice that entered my ear very loudly, someone said my name in the loudest way possible as they threw an arm around my shoulder.
“You’re Torao’s friend! I don’t remember fighting with you at Punk Hazard!” he exclaimed before stopping dead in his words, looking at me for a long moment, pondering with a confused expression.
Should I tell him that I was actually not fighting with them and that I had just… followed my captain? Or maybe- “Well! It doesn’t matter, Sanji’s about to make some food, you should come! Sanji’s the best cook- he’s so great, you should try his food! Come on! I’m hungry!” I was then pulled towards a door that led to the inside of the boat but quickly got stopped by a tattooed hand.
“Mugiwara-ya, give me a minute.” He told the Straw Hats captain, who, strangely, listened as he ran inside shouting for more food, more meat.
“He has so much energy, it’s so fun- he’s your exact opposite! Not that you’re not funny, but like, you’re way calmer. I like that- I don’t think I could ever handle Luffy’s energy, yours I can, I’m used to it you know?” A hand placed on my shoulder stopped me in my accidental ramble, I felt my cheeks heat up in an instant as I looked off to the side, slowly coming to the realization that it wasn’t Law’s hand on my shoulder but one a lot lighter.
“Nico-ya will show you the bathroom, you need to get warm. I don’t have time to take care of you if you get a cold.” He stated before gesturing with his head to the person behind me. Turning around I saw Nico Robin’s warm expression and grinned back.
When I turned back, saying “Ah you’re just worried-“ I noticed he had entered the boat and was nowhere in sight. “Come on, I’ll show you around.” She then led me to what looked like a small interior bath house. I was amazed by the inside, we did not have that on the submarine, it was a lot brighter than our bathroom; And spacious too. Stepping inside, I took off my coat but stopped in my tracks, seeing the fruit user sitting on a chair next to the door.
“I’m good miss Robin, I think I can bathe on my own.” I told her lightly, earning a surprised gasp from her.
“No need to call me miss, you can call me Robin. But don’t worry, I’m not going to look, I’m just here in case you fall asleep.” She explained softly, but it confused me a bit. Seeing that she was covering her eyes I removed my clothes and stepped inside the scalding hot water; It must have been just hot at first but considering how cold my body was, the shock between the temperatures made it a lot warmer.
“Fall asleep? I’ll just get cleaned and get out, don’t worry.” I said softly. Chuckling slightly, she asked if she could look, if I was in the water, and I told her yes, so she uncovered her eyes, smiling.
“I’m not worried, Torao said,” frowning she took a slightly deeper voice, I had to hold back from laughing out loud but listened intently as she imitated Law explaining that one time, I fell asleep in the bath after a long fight and Bepo was the one that found me out, burning hot and asleep in the bath.
Once she was done, her expression changed entirely, “He also added that he did not want you to get sick, if anything I think he’s the one worried about you.” She then grabbed a book from the small table next to the chair.
Folding my arms on the edge of the huge bath, I started thinking. I did not think Law cared that much, sure it would be a pain in his ass if I got sick but that’s about it, he was a great doctor so I understood if he did not want to spend time on someone with a cold. I’m even surprised he remembered that one time I passed out, I almost forgot that. It wasn’t going to happen again, considering that it only happened because I had lost a lot of blood and was pretty tired that day. All while thinking about him, I washed myself then simply enjoyed the warmth of the water. It was one of those rare time I could relax, but it felt nice. Maybe Law could take one too, he looked rather stressed… maybe part of it being that I completely ignored his orders… I’m an idiot. Now he must hate me for being a stubborn moron.
Fuck, definitely not how someone shows any sort of affection, but it doesn’t matter, because I’m not going to act on it anyway. Yeah, just, keep it in. “Daydreaming?” I heard Nico Robin’s voice echo in the room, bringing my attention back to her, face heating up from what I was thinking about.
“Daydreaming, ha! No, no, nothing to daydream about, just thinking.” A smile drew itself on her face as she closed the book in her hands.
“Not even your Captain?” She suggested teasingly, my eyes widened in shock at her words. It couldn’t be that obvious, it’s been going on for months and it’s only now that people were realizing it? I hadn’t done anything to be obvious, right? So, I denied it.
“Law? No, no, a Captain? That’d be crazy, he’s a Warlord too- I couldn’t, I would never. No, no, he’s too- too much, and grumpy you know? I mean sure he’s funny, kind too, and determined- or is it stubbornness? But grumpy, I don’t care how handsome he is, you know? I mean I can handle his grumpiness, I don’t mind it that much-“
I cut myself off, realizing that I was talking way too much and that I had just done the exact opposite of what I had planned on doing. This was not denying, this was an obvious confession. This was bad, I had to stop being honest and stop blathering what came through my head. I’m an idiot, I thought as I let my head hang but quickly lifted it back up when I heard Robin laugh charmingly.
“It’s cute, if you’d like to talk about it, do not hesitate. I rarely have the occasion to talk about such things, it could be nice.” I stared at her in awe, cute? I’m not cute, I’m a fool for having a crush on a gorgeous pirate that has a bounty of 440 Million berries.
“Talk about it? I’m not- I’m not planning on doing anything about it, it’ll go away. It’s a foolish crush, and he has definitely other things to do than think of a nice way to turn me down. So, yeah…” There was an awkward silence, maybe I shouldn’t have said that but it was how I felt.
About to get up, I realized my clothes weren’t where I had left them. Since there were towels nearby, I wrapped them around myself and look at Robin a bit lost. “Where are my clothes?” As if coming to a realization she stood up and brought me a fresh pair of clothes, but they weren’t mine. It was something I would wear, and it was my size… for some reason… but it wasn’t mine.
“Your clothes were pretty dirty; I gave them to Chopper so he’d clean them.” She then thrusted the clothes in my hands, “Those’ll be adequate for the weather in Dressrosa,” She then walked towards the door, but turned around as she reached it, “My offer still stands, I’m here if you’d like to talk. Or, you know… gush about how attractive he is.” I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help but smile as I nodded, telling her I’d think about it.
When she left the room, I heard voices outside and paid attention to what was being said. I think I heard Law’s voice behind the door asking if I had fallen asleep, and Robin’s answer being that when she left, I wasn’t asleep but she had to go help Chopper. I did not know her enough to know if she was lying or not, but it was pretty suspect the way she said it. I also wondered why she would say that, she knows I’m out of the bathtub and getting dressed- my train of thoughts got interrupted by a gentle knock on the door, quickly followed by my name. Fuck could I hear him say my name many more times. “Alive and well, come in.” I called out once I was finished with putting on my shirt. If I didn’t know better, I would have said there was hesitance when the door opened. “You did not fall asleep, good.” He then stepped forward and placed a hand on my forehead, I almost flinched at how sudden it was but stood there.
“No fever. At least you’re not freezing anymore.” He stated. When he let his hand fall back to his side I shrugged in response, “Don’t speak so soon, you’d be surprised by how quick my body temperature fucks me up, Law.” I said jokingly as we made our way out of the room, I think I heard him chuckle as he followed me outside. His cheeks were slightly red from the heat of the room and he looked so cute like that, it was a rare sight to see him with colors on his face. It almost looked like a blush, but I did not comment on it.
Once we made our way to the dining room, shivers ran down my spine despite the sun that shone outside. “You’re cold.” Law said as he glanced my way, his hand wrapped around his sword as he led the way. I’ll admit I would get lost around this boat, seeing how big it is; Which is why I was grateful for his presence, not just because he was pretty soothing to be around… no… Right he had said something-
Throwing him a glance I laughed a bit, “Ah, I’ll warm up, don’t you worry- maybe I’ll ask the little reindeer if he wants to cuddle, he does seem quite fluffy and warm-“ I heard him say ‘Shambles’, then saw something appear in his hands before he handed it to me.
“Tony-ya is busy, just take this.” I hesitantly took his coat from his hands, brushing mine against his tattooed ones. Just like before, they were soft and I wanted to hold them a bit longer, which I accidentally did when I did not pull away with the coat right away and instead let my hand touch his. I observed his features, even though he looked away, but as seconds passed, he turned his face towards me with a scowl.
“Are you taking it or not?” He grumbled; his face still slightly red from the heat of the bathroom. “Right, yeah- yeah, thank you!” I said with a bit too much enthusiasm as I grabbed the coat and draped it over my shoulders before following him to the kitchen.
My face heated up at the same time my body did with the coat. It was nothing, he was just being careful so that he did not have to spend extra time on me if I did get sick from the cold. It wasn’t a romantic gesture or anything, just a friend lending another friend some help… unfortunately.
Then, my mouth spoke faster than I could think and said, “It’s quite comfortable, if all your clothes are this comfortable, I might have to borrow them more often.” Why did I say that, was this flirting? Or was I joking? I did not even know, I had to stop talking. I was usually able to hold back from being like this, but maybe it was because I never had alone time with him? Usually the crew was always around, I could not let my guard down but right now it was just him and I, and my stupid idiotic heart wanted to come clean, but no.
Hearing him sigh, I felt like I had made a mistake and was about to apologize when I heard him say, “I would not mind. You look cute like this.” Then he sped off and went to talk to the blond cook.
As Law spoke with the cook, I stood at the entrance of the kitchen, baffled. Had he said cute? Me? No, it was probably more of a, cute like a child wearing their parents’ clothes, right? But still… cute? Shaking myself out of my reverie I looked up and joined the men in the kitchen by Law’s instruction, or more by his gesture of me to step inside, which I did. The table was full, everyone was drinking and eating to their heart’s content, the skeleton however moved from his seat and slithered towards the thief, Nami was her name. He asked her something I couldn’t hear but the woman beat him up for it, which startled me.
“Are they always like this?” I asked as I leaned towards Law, I felt pride burst in my chest when he chuckled lowly but I did not show it.
“They’re loud.” He simply said. I could only hum in agreement, loud was one word, they were merry, rowdy, loud indeed, but also… welcoming.
One of the men around the table was pretty talkative and from what I could hear, he was only spurring bullshit but the youngest of the bunch seemed to believe all that he was saying. My observation was cut short when Law pulled me towards the kitchen, instead of just standing in the dining room, and asked Sanji for a serving each. The blond cook served us before doing a bee line and going straight to the two women at the table, asking them, enamored, if they needed anything.
“He’s quite… vocal with his- uh… affection, isn’t he?” I said hesitantly.
Law didn’t answer, but we both sat at the island that was facing the oven and started eating in silence. At least, in as much silence as possible when the entire Straw Hats crew was having a blast during their dinner.
“Hoi, Torao!!” Luffy called out.
Law put down his fork with an annoyed grunt and looked over his shoulder at the other Captain. “What.” A wide grin spread on his face, Luffy shoved more food in his mouth before speaking; Using the bone in his hand, he pointed at Law, then at me,
“Are you both dat-“ the energetic captain was interrupted when hands appeared all over his body, and face.
Nico Robin had used her power to make him shut up, for some reason. The ginger woman peeped in a bit embarrassed, “What Luffy meant to ask was, are you both- enjoying the food? Sanji makes the best food!” she asked with a big smile.
I was a bit confused, but nodded. “It’s very good, you have a very talented cook in you crew.” I said in all politeness, in the background the blond cook almost had heart-eyes at the compliment from the ginger. Next to me, Law sighed and grabbed the slice of bread from his tray then dropped it on mine, not commenting on the short interaction that that happened with the Straw Hats.
I smiled at that before remarking, “Still not a fan of bread, I see.”
Looking at his plate, he did not reply, instead he shrugged.
“I’ll be your designated bread eater, don’t worry.” With the fork in his mouth, he smiled slightly while I tore the bread before dipping it in the sauce. Although the crew behind us seemed to be whispering a lot, I was mostly focus on not letting it anything slip through my actions, anything crush-related. I focused hard on keeping thing casual, cool, composed.
However, to my captain, I was just taking too long eating. He had finished rather quickly and was now waiting with his arms crossed over his chest. “Are you almost done?” he asked impatiently. Surprised by his demeanor, I looked at him with my mouth full of bread and quirked a brow before swallowing, “You can go, I’m almost done anyway-“
“It’s ok, I’ll wait. Then you’ll follow me.” Could his words be any more ominous? Instead of leaving, like I had suggested, he did as he said and stayed until I finished. But he seemed restless, he kept glancing behind us at the Straw Hats every time they would mutter a word remotely close to either my name, or his, or even to our crew. Instead of asking him what got him so on edge, I finished my plate then stood up, earning a surprised face from the swordsman.
With my plate in hand, I gave a curt nod to Law, telling him I was done then put it in the sink before pulling at his sleeve once. “Where shall we go O captain my captain-“
“I already told you to stop calling me that,” He grumbled.
Instead of telling him I was just fooling around, I could not control myself I teased a bit, “Right, Torao” The speed at which he faced me made me snort without an ounce of charm, I put a hand to my mouth and looked to the side. The expression on his face was even more priceless, “Not you too-“ seeing how distressed it made him, albeit how funny it was, I nudged his side as we walked and interrupted him.
“Kidding, kidding, Law, Trafalgar Law- but you know Torao is much more fun-“ his deadly glare made me change the route I was taking with my words, “But Law is badass, you’re badass, Law it is. I guess it’s cute too.” I shrugged.
He cleared his throat before walking ahead, we quickly reached the outside deck where Caesar was tied up; I had only now realized the man was there. “Hey, what’s he doing here? Shouldn’t he be thrown into the ocean or something?” I inquired as we made our way closer to the annoying stand-user.
“I thought you did not like revenge.” Law commented jokingly, I threw him a glance but couldn’t keep it long seeing how gorgeous he looked with that smile of his. Swearing under my breath, I looked back at the pale man who had an almost pleading face.
“For him I would make an exception though. Definitely.” I stated, earning a laugh from my captain as he put his sword down against the mast.
“We need him alive in the meantime,” he then quickly explained to me the importance of the man, and although I understood I did not like the idea of him being on our ship. But I was not about to throw their plan off just because I hated him, so I nodded.
“Alright then, we just, what? Watch over him?” The raven-haired man nodded before sitting down on the floor, leaning his head against the mast. Shrugging off his coat, I threw it on him before sitting next to him, more likely slumping next to him; A bit too violently too, considering the pain I felt on my backside when I hit the floor, but I ignored it.
“This sounds fun. Crew bonding, love me some bond.” I closed my eyes a moment, pondering why I said that, but only for a moment before opening them again when I felt a weight on my lap; It was Law’s coat, the same one I had threw back at him. “I- I’ll ask inside if they have a spare blanket, not that I don’t like your coat but, it’s a coat, and clearly it’s not practical.”
“You can sleep inside if you want, watching over this idiot is not the most entertaining thing-“ Since I had stood, I couldn’t see his face due to his cap, so as I interrupted him, I took it off his head and frowned. He did groan at my actions, not liking it one bit, but I still spoke.
“I said, bonding time. I’m not about to let you and that moron alone. Plus, I would not miss an opportunity to sleep under the starry sky, with you nonetheless-“ I stopped dead in my tracks and winced, I should really shut up because the more time I spent around him, the more my tongue would slip. With as much composure I could muster, I turned around and told him I was going to go get a blanket. Once inside, the hubbub from earlier as we ate, had slowly quieted down, all that could be heard was piano being played in the background as they talked together.
Entering the dining area, everyone around the table was asleep but Robin, Franky and Sanji; Nami and Usopp were nowhere to be seen, while the captain and his right hand-man were asleep with their head on the table, and youngest of the crew being asleep on his chair. The skeleton however, was the one playing the piano, he seemed in a sort of nostalgia as he played his tune, so I did not hover and entered discretely.
“Hi, can I bother you real quick?” I asked softly,
Sanji who was enthralled by the black-haired woman in front of him only hummed in response as he puffed smoke. “Do you have any spare blankets, since I’ll be watching over Caesar Clown with Law-“ The cyborg leaned on the table, smiling brightly, the way he rolled his r’s as he spoke made me smile, “How romantic! I didn’t think Torao was like that-“ Nico Robin pulled him down, so that he was sitting again, then she whispered something to him in a hushed yet urgent manner. It calmed him down as he looked to the side, a bit red.
“Yes, we have spare blankets. They’re in the hall, come on I’ll show you.”
Thanking her, I was startled to see the skeleton standing at the door with his hands over his ‘cheeks’, but stopped before bumping into him. “How beautiful, young love- I do believe I have a song that could fit the mood if you’d like. Ahh it has been a while since I played the violin but it could-“ As he opened his skull and started rummaging through it, he got interrupted,
“Brook! Please,” Nico Robin widened her eyes then gestured for him to go back inside the dining room, which he did after closing his skull, albeit a bit confused. I could feel my whole body burning in embarrassment, for months I had kept this crush a secret and now, everyone knew? Or perhaps I thought it was a secret, but I was obvious and the crew was playing along- it must be it.
“Still thinking?” The gentle voice of Robin reached my ear, I blinked a few times and looked at her, a bit lost. Humming in response, I stopped when she did,
“I guess I am, uh? I think I’ll ask him to stargaze.” she chuckled softly before handing be two blankets and pillows then turning around.
“Wait up- wait miss Robin- Robin, just Robin. Right.” She paused, smiling and cocked her head to the side, curious. I was hesitant, squeezing the blanket tighter; Taking a long breath, I sighed, “How- I mean, should I flirt? With… Law, I just don’t know what to do. I would usually talk to Bepo but-“
“You should, if you feel comfortable doing so.”
I made a face in response, then decided against it. “Yeah, no… you’re right, I shouldn’t. I should keep things professional- it would be awkward if he rejected me, you’re right.” Before the woman in front of me could speak, I turned around and rushed off, hearing a confused ‘I did not say that at all’ in the back.
I just give him his stuff, then sit down, and shut up. Yep. Easy. “I got everything; the entire Straw Hat crew is exhausted it seems. I can’t really blame them though,” I said off-handedly as I arrived. “Do they often sleep in such random places?” I wondered as I sat down next to Law, opening the blanket wide and covering both us with it. Considering that we had 2 blankets, I could have given him one, and one for myself too, but I decided to put both on both of us.
“They are quite special, I’m sure they’ll wake up and move to their bed soon enough.” At the same time, he did, I grabbed the blanket to pulled it higher, and our hands grazed. Like a high-schooler I reacted stupidly and giggled like an idiot. “My bad, ah, yep you- you do you.” It was not the right thing to say, nor the bad one either. But it sucked for sure.
Change the topic, just do it. “I have an extra blanket if you need it-“ turning around to face him for the first time, I suppose I had been avoiding his gaze for unknown reasons, I saw he had taken his hat off. And I huffed a laugh, in surprise. “Your hair it’s-“
Annoyed, he ran his hands through his hair, grumbling, perhaps trying to tame it. “No, no, it’s good- it’s fine, it’s actually adorable, I just rarely see you without the hat and- no I like it, just surprised.” He mumbled something I didn’t quite heart adding a scoff to it. Curious, I asked him to repeat but he only scowled, telling me that it was nothing.
“If you’re sure…” there was a short silence, so I spoked again, “I really meant it as a compliment, I really like it-“ covering my mouth with his hand, he sighed,
“I get it, I get it, will you sleep now?” Raising my brows, confused, but nodded and grabbed his hand to pull it away from my face. For a second, I did not let it go and considered holding it; It could be a subtle way to try right? I could hold his gentle hand and feel the warmth-
“Is there a problem?”
Dropping his hand quickly, I shook my head and looked up the stars instead of him. “No, yeah, there- nothing. Wake me up when you want to sleep, we’ll take turns, alright?” I muttered as I started sliding to the ground; Although he hummed in agreement, I knew he would not, so I gave him a dirty look,
“I mean it, you also need some sleep. I can manage that chained-up stupid scientist- no, you know what I’ll take the first turn actually. Or else, I know you won’t wake me up.” I said quickly, pulling myself up so that my back was aligned with the mast and I was sitting straight. Law tsked and told me to stop acting cute, I needed to sleep and he was not going to let me fuck my sleep like that.
“Is that so? Did you even sleep since you got back from Punk Hazard? Mm?” he seemed taken aback for a second, seeing the surprised expression on his face was rare, but I had grown to like it for some reason.
“You think you’ll be able to take on Doflamingo, if your body is as exhausted as your mind?” After I said that, he frowned, his mouth slightly open as if he was about to say something but instead decided against it. “Come on Law, for a doctor you really don’t give two fucks about your health-“
“I’m not letting you watch over this moron on your own, I don’t care if I don’t sleep. Some things are more important.” I would have smiled at how stubborn he was, but at the same time I wanted to hit him for being a dumbass.
“You’re exhausting, and exhausted, I can see it. But alright. How about this, we watch over him until someone else takes the shift, then we go sleep, together-“ I stopped at the use of word, seeing how he quirked a brow I could see he was no entirely convinced by my choice of words either. “Together like- both of us we’ll go sleep, somewhere but not like together, more like- hey you get what I’m saying, just, let’s fuck our sleep more, then fix it, you know?” His beautiful laughed sounded like a melody to my ears, making my cheeks heat up lightly at being able to get this out of him.
And he agreed, strangely. The night was long, a few times I felt my head lull backwards or to the side; When it’d hit the mast, I would straighten myself right away, however when it would hit Law’s shoulders, he wouldn’t say anything. It was only after minutes of being in this state, between asleep and awake, that I would realize and wake up quickly. I would berate him, jokingly, and his only response was a shrug, however I could see a slight smirk in the corner of his lips as he did so.
It’s like in his head he was telling me ‘I told you so’ like he felt proud for being still awake, while I was clearly slowly falling asleep. The sun could not arrive sooner, around what felt like five or six in the morning, noise could be heard inside the boat, more than the usual creaking noises a boat made. The sound of people walking around, getting prepared, all of it. I was getting excited to finally be able to go to sleep very soon. [Part 3]

dear @ask-kitchenwitchsanji! i was your secret santa for the @opsecretsanta2019 exchange and i’ve come to finally bring your gift (finally!). first, of all i want to apologize for the delay and wish you happy holidays and a happy new year. all the best for this coming decade ✨✨ for your gift, i wrote fic and i ended up going with the prompts of near death experience and angst, because that’s my jam too, and boy let me tell you, this one really ran away from me. i had a lot of fun writing and hope you enjoy it as well.
title: brave face characters: sanji, zoro, mentions of the rest of the straw hats. summary: actions have consequenses and zoro’s had enough. or, sanji puts his life in danger. again. words: 3 623 a/n: discussions of canon-typical violence and its more realistic consequences/death.
”What’s your problem, huh?”
Sanji blinks. Or he tries to, but his head hurts too much for the motion to be anything more than a slight wince.
Wait.
His head hurts?
Why?
What the fuck is going on? Did someone say something?
Fuck, it hurts.
---
”What’s your problem, Cook?”
There’s that voice again. Zoro.
Sanji grimaces. Of all the goddamn things in the world to wake up to-- He’s too fucking tired for this.
Shit, it really hurts all over. He must have been done in real good in their latest fight. Sanji grunts, tries to open his eyes. Slowly, his head is already pounding as it is. It takes a moment for his vision to clear, but sure enough he’s in the infirmary and the mosshead is sitting at the side of his bed. Gross.
Sanji moves his mouth. His lips are dry.
”What are you doing here?” he says. Tries to say. It’s annoying how hoarse his voice sounds, how weak. He must have been out of it for a good while.
Zoro doesn’t answer. Sanji would ask him again, but he’s too tired to bother and either way something is…off about the swordsman. The furrow of his brows, the set of his shoulders. It’s enough to unnerve Sanji, so he asks, has to ask:
“Is something wrong? Are the others okay?”
For some reason, that was the wrong thing to say because Zoro stands up abruptly, the look on his face mean as he replies:
“Look who’s talking.”
Normally that would be enough to goad Sanji into a fight but the shithead has a point. He’s too tired. He can barely keep his eyes open as is.
Zoro grunts and starts moving towards the door
“Everyone else is fine. I’m getting Chopper. Try to stay awake until he’s had a look at you, idiot,” he says and his voice is all even and quiet as he talks. Weird.
Try as he might it’s fucking hard, keeping his eyes open and Sanji feels himself drift back into nothingness.
 ---
 Third time’s the charm.
Sure, everything still fucking hurts when Sanji wakes but the fog clogging his head is slowly starting to clear.
“You have a real problem, you know?” Zoro’s voice comes from the side of the bed and Sanji wants to scream.
He turns his head (slowly, slowly) to glare at the swordsman.
“Hey fuckhead, you really got nothing better to do than torment me?” Sanji says and while the edge is missing from his voice at least it doesn’t give up on him in the middle of the sentence. Small steps and all that. “Last I knew the infirmary belonged to Chopper.”
Zoro grimaces, the look on his face harsh.
“Even doctors need to sleep. Wasn’t doing him any good, fretting over you every hour.”
Sanji’s mouth clamps shut. After a moments struggle, his compulsion to antagonize Zoro loses out to his increasing need to understand what the fuck is going on and what the hell happened to him. He starts out easy.
“What time is it?”
“Early morning, rest of the crew’s still asleep,” Zoro answers. “I’m on watch.”
“Sure,” Sanji says, and it takes all his willpower to not comment on the fact that the swordsman had apparently been spending his shift in the infirmary instead of the crow’s nest. There was probably a reason for that.
Sanji wets his lips. As he starts coming back to his body it dawns on him just how bad shape he’s in. All this from a fight? While he’s not sure exactly what happened, he remembers the skirmish and the small crew of two-bit marines they’d run into. None of the usual big guns that were after them, just some local division leader too high on his own supply to realize just how outmatched him and his men were.
It just doesn’t add up. From what Sanji can tell he’s been knocked out for a good while, and the crew had been worried enough to assign him a watch. And he feels like pure shit. His body feels weak, his limbs sluggish and heavy. Loathe as he is to admit it, Sanji doubts he could get out of bed on his own. His head hurts and, even worse than that, his chest aches. Not just the pain from broken ribs – that he recognizes – but his insides feel raw, irritated. Like his airways have been filled with broken glass, like something chafes with every breath he takes.
“What happened?” Sanji asks.
 “You drowned,” Zoro says.
Huh?
“Stop fucking around,” Sanji grits out.
“I’m not. You drowned.”
“Hey shithead, does it look like I’m in the mood for jokes?” Sanji shouts, “How the fuck would I drown?!”
Sanji doesn’t get an answer to that question. Right then the door is slammed open by Chopper who manages to look both rushed and newly awake, the hat on his head askew and his eyes wide-open.
“Sanji! You’re up,” their small doctor exclaims and then he pauses. Any other time and Sanji would have found it funny, the way Chopper’s face gave away the exact moment he took in the scene he’d walked into.
“Are you fighting?” Chopper asks, immediately he transforming into his man-form and getting between them. “But Zoro, you promised!” he berates as he drags the swordsman out from the infirmary.
“Yeah, yeah, apologies,” Zoro says, reaching up to straighten out the hat on Chopper’s head as he’s being shooed away. “The moron’s all yours, Doc.”
 ---
With only Chopper left in the room with him, Sanji isn’t quite sure what to say. He can’t say he cares very much for the sickbed, and unlike the rest of the knobheads on their crew it’s not very often his injuries are bad enough to keep him confined. There are exceptions, sure, but overall this is a foreign experience.
“How are you doing?”
Chopper is the first to speak, expertly stepping into his role and Sanji has to smile.
“I’m fine,” he reassures, “Should be back on my feet in no time.”
So what, his body hurts. He’s alive and there’s no reason that anyone should have to worry about him.
“Don’t doubt that for a second,” Chopper replies as he comes closer. “Is it really that difficult, to rest up properly for once?” he wonders and it’s only when Chopper steps up right by the bed that Sanji notices just how wobbly a smile their little reindeer is sporting.
Sanji stays quiet while he’s examined from top to bottom. He doesn’t doubt Chopper’s capabilities, or intentions, but something about the whole thing seems—excessive and it makes his skin crawl.
“Hey,” he starts, keeping his voice to a gentle murmur so as to not startle Chopper while he’s drawing blood. “Everything good?”
Chopper hums, absorbed enough in his work that he doesn’t look up. “I’d need the results from your blood samples to make sure, and it still too early to rule out neurological damage…” he trails off, brain finally catching up to what he’d let slip. “Not that I’m too worried! Everything seems fine so far so you don’t need to worry either, okay?”
Sanji finds himself fidgeting, his fingers running over the small band-aid on the inside of his elbow.
“Of course not,” he says finally.
 ---
To his absolute dismay Sanji is prescribed further bedrest and Chopper expressively forbids him from returning to his duties in the kitchen. Sanji protests to the best of his ability, expecting to get some type of support from the rest of crew. But to his surprise there was only approval of Chopper’s decision, and Sanji realizes all hope is lost when he turns to his captain and Luffy’s face is been serious, as if he’d tried to think long and hard on the matter. "You need to rest up first Sanji. Captain's orders!"
Effectively barred from the kitchen and told to rest, there’s not much left from Sanji’s usual routine to occupy himself with. He sleeps a lot, and it’s not like it’s possible to be truly alone on a ship like theirs. Luffy seems to have made it his personal mission to fill Sanji in on whatever idiocy he and Usopp have come up with during the day, and Robin, bless her, has taken to dropping by with books from the library. One afternoon, Nami had cleared out space for herself at Chopper’s desk to work on her maps muttering something about the deck being too noisy ,and Brook keeps sticking his head in and asking for suggestions on what to play next, wandering off but somehow always straying close enough that Sanji can hear the music too.
Still, the days are long and the nights even longer, and so when the ship is quiet and dark, Sanji broods.
It’s starting to catch up with him, the strangeness of the situation and his mind is filled with thoughts he’d rather not linger on. Like the relief on the faces of the crew that morning when he’d first woken up, when they’d filed in one after another with that same expression on their faces and that same weight leaving their shoulders as they caught sight of him. Like the state of his body, still so goddamn tired and worn.
‘You drowned’ Zoro had said and Sanji still doesn’t know what that means.
 ---
One night it all gets a little too much. Desperate to get a moment’s reprieve from the noise inside his head Sanji listens and waits. On the other side of the infirmary door the crew of the Sunny are slowly but surely settling for the night and finally the ship is silent. Sanji knows that Luffy has the first watch of the night which just means that their captain will be sleeping in the crow’s nest instead of in the men’s cabin, and so Sanji only looks around once before he steps out from the infirmary onto the deck.
It’s cold.
What was it Nami-san had said yesterday, they’d entered the climate zone of an Autumn island? It’s been a second since Sanji’s shivered like this, but wrapped in one of the blankets from his sickbed the chill against his skin makes him feel alive. He breathes in, holds the air, exhales. Fuck, he could really use a cigarette right now.
Sanji stands outside for a good while watching the sea and tasting the salt in the air. Some self-medication, he thinks to himself and snickers.
Next is the galley. He’s not stupid enough to go against doctor’s orders and try to cook something, but a cup of tea that he’s brewed himself, getting the stand in front of the stove and soak in the heat. He thinks that’d do him good.
So of course, because the universe hates him, he opens the door to the galley and steps inside only to find that he’s not alone. The lights are off but moonlight streams through the portholes and by the table Zoro is drinking.
Sanji stands by the threshold and curses the world.
Zoro looks up from his drink, his face infuriatingly stoic as he opens his stupid mouth.
“You’re not supposed to be here. Chopper’s gonna have your head.”
Sanji grits his teeth. Maybe it’s just as well that he’s not smoking, he would have bit through his cigarette by now otherwise.
“Shut up,” he mutters as he makes his way to the stove. It’s not worth it, starting a fight. Besides…”You’d snitch on me, mosshead?”
Zoro grunts and takes another swig from his bottle. It’s the good sake that Sanji had hid way back in the pantry. He imagines not much is left out of that stock.
Sanji inhales slowly and turns away. No fighting, he repeats inside his head like a mantra as he prepares his tea. It’s not worth it.
To his great disappointment Zoro's still sitting there when he turns back. He scowls as he takes a seat at the table but makes sure put his cup down gently.
He takes a sip, closes his eyes. Despite the unwanted presence on the other side of the table he feels himself relax. Why wouldn’t he? The galley is his domain, his second skin. Fuck, as much as he needed fresh air, this is it. Inside the galley, the heart of the ship, he’s okay.
When he opens his eyes he finds Zoro staring at him and at once the smile on his face drops. This fucker. The mosshead isn’t even drinking anymore. The bottle’s empty, his arms are crossed over his chest, the expression on his face unreadable as he keeps. Fucking. Staring.
Sanji’s had enough.
“What’s your problem?” he says and he tries to keep his voice calm, neutral. His voice is still raspy, even though it’s been days since he woke up.
Zoro face hardens.
“That’s my question.” He leans forward to rest an elbow on the table. “Actually, I've been asking you for a while now but no dice.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Sanji wants to say. Unfortunately, he remembers the mosshead glued to his side in the infirmary, asking that one question with various degrees of rudeness attached. But that had only been until he’d woken up properly. The idiot sure had been making himself scarce since then.
“I have no idea what your taking about?” he says instead.
It takes a while for Zoro to respond, finally he says:
“Do you remember what happened?”
Sanji glares.
“No,” he admits finally. As much as he hates it he realizes at once what Zoro means and that this is his best shot at finally getting some answers.
“You drowned—” Zoro starts but Sanji interrupts him at once. He’s not here to listen to bullshit.
“Talk sense, mosshead. Start from the beginning.”
There’s no way I drowned.
It’s Zoro’s turn to glare, but if looks could kill Sanji would be burning in hell a hundred times over so he ignores him.
Then – finally – Zoro starts talking.
“We were about to leave the latest island when a bunch of marines ambushed us. The usual weaklings”
Sanji nods. That much he remembers, it had only been him, Luffy and the mosshead fighting while the others prepared the ship to set sail, stowing away their shopping and what not. It’s after that shit gets blurry.
“Well, their captain was apparently the ambitious type, had invested in all this advanced weaponry. Out of the norm on a small base like this one but still no different from the shit we’d run into before. We thought.” Zoro goes on speaking, his voice the usual drone but something about it is still unnerving, maybe it’s because Sanji knows that something ends up going south.
“So he kept going on about all his toys, you know the type, but then he mentioned something kinda troublesome. Some genius had come up the idea to combine those seastone nets of theirs with a bazooka or whatever. He said that, the marine captain, and aimed at Luffy.”
“Luffy didn’t notice, he was fighting some martial artist and he’s never been the type to listen twice to weaklings. But you did, Cook,” Zoro says, his face serious as he stares at Sanji. And Sanji realizes that that strange undercurrent to Zoro’s voice is rage.
“You heard the guy,” he continues, “and instead of shouting out a warning or kicking Luffy out of the way and dodging, you took the hit for him and was sent flying into the sea. And sure, you’re good swimmer but that net knocked the air out of you, and in the blink of an eye you were sinking. ‘S not like you can kick you’re way out of seastone, either.”
Sanji swallows. Not his greatest moment, but still.
“Big deal, someone got me out, right?”
Zoro’s not amused.
“You see, Cook. It took a moment, since both Luffy and I were busy with our own fights and that idiot is useless in the water anyway. But sure I jumped in after you and by the time I got you out the marines were done with. But seastone’s heavy, it slowed me down.”
Sanji’s stunned. That’s an unexpected confession, coming from the swordsman. It makes him uncomfortable.
“Called for Chopper when I got out because you weren’t responding. Think you swallowed a decent amount of water. He wanted to start compressions, you know, but seastone’s a bitch. It took you a while to free you, especially since four out of the crew couldn’t even help out.”
“You weren’t breathing when we finally got you free from the net. Chopper couldn’t find at pulse. You drowned.”
Sanji’s stomach churns. “Then what?” He manages to choke out.
Zoro shrugs. “Chopper started compressions, tried to get you breathing. The others helped him move you to the infirmary, and I guess they got you going after a couple of minutes. I’m not sure. I was trying to calm Luffy down."
“Why,” Sanji whispers.
“He would have killed those marines otherwise.”
Sanji runs his hands through his hair. He doesn’t want to look at the Zoro right now.
Fuck. The grip on his hair tightens. All this while he’d imagined all kinds of scenarios and yet the truth is worse than anythings he's managed to conjure up. He wants to accuse the other of lying, of making things up to fuck with him, but he knows Zoro’s not the type. Not even Usopp would lie about something like this. He feels bile at the back of his throat.
No wonder then. That he’d been feeling like shit. That the others had been looking at him like something fragile and precious. That Zoro was furious with him.
Speak of the devil.
“I’m gonna ask you again, Cook. What’s you problem?”
Sanji wants to laugh. Fuck this guy really, for choosing to do this now while his mind was still reeling.
“I don’t have a problem.”
“Then, why'd you take that hit in Luffy’s place instead of getting him out of the way?”
“Fuck if I know. I was just trying to save him. You would have done it too.”
Zoro sneers, the look on his face meaner than ever.
“Wrong. Anyone of us in the crew would have saved him, sure. Only you would put your sorry ass at risk, because you’re the only here with a death-wish.”
Sanji sees red.
“Like you’re the one to talk,” he spits out. “After Thriller Bark.”
“I was never going to die.”
Sanji stands up and it’s only the vertigo from rising so suddenly that stops him from kicking the swordsman through the wall. The hypocrisy is enough to throw all his senses awry.
“I was there, remember? I heard you offer your head in Luffy’s place!”
Sanji’’s self-aware enough to admit he’s the hotheaded type of guy. He doesn’t know how he finds it within himself to still keep a respectable volume.
Zoro grinds his teeth. Looking at him properly, Sanji can spot all these signs that tell him the calm Zoro’s projecting is a façade. The tense posture, the unnatural clench of his jaw. Suddenly Sanji’s tired, the fight running off him like water. He wishes they could just fight it out, cut through the tension with swords and kicks, without uttering a single world. Instead they’ve been reduced to this. It’s not like them.
“I remember,” Zoro says. “I know what I said, but unlike you I had the resolve to not die. Kuma was never gonna kill me.”
Sanji sits back down. He wants a smoke. He wants to not be here.
“You’re saying I would have died, and that’s why you knocked me out,” Sanji can’t help the resentment that colors his voice.
“Yes.”
“Because I’m weak.”
“Yes.”
There it is. It took two years but there it is. An admission.
“Don’t get me wrong, idiot. I’m not taking about your fighting ability, in that sense you’re as strong as any,” Sanji gets the distinct feeling that saying this out loud is like pulling teeth for Zoro. “But you’re fine with sacrificing your life, and that makes you weak.”
Sanji bites the inside of his cheek.
“That’s not true,” he counters but finds his voice unconvincing. He blames the early hour. The state of his body. Anything.
It would take a hundred years before he’d admit that Zoro has a point.
Zoro shakes his head and for a brief moment the mask is off. Instead of stern, he just looks weary and in the moonlit galley the shadows under his eyes are pronounced.
“I don’t how to get through to you,” he says and Sanji’s reminded of how young he is. How young they both are when it comes to the grand scheme of things; despite how much they’ve been through. But the moment passes and Zoro stands up.
Sanji realizes he missed his chance, but he not sure for what, and maybe that’s for the better.
“One more thing.” Zoro stops by the doorway, not even bothering to look back. “You’re not putting the crew through this again.”
The door falls shut behind him and Sanji is alone.
He leans his head back to stare at the ceiling.
Well, what the fuck am I supposed to do then?
Sure, this one was unecessary, but Sanji knows the sea is cruel. He's not naive enough to think that their little crew, however much they mean to him, are special enough to coast by without coming across tragedy or hardships. And maybe that means that somewhere deep down, unconsciously, he'd promised himself that when the time comes it's him and not them. Never them.
He'll just have to be smarter about it.

Hello! I love your writing and headcanons 💕🤗 Since requests are open, can I ask for some headcanons of Killer being not only a trusted friend to Eustass but an older brother figure too? The fact that they're childhood friends and Killer is 4 years older than him is quite cute. I imagine Killer watching Kid grow up before his eyes must make him quite proud in some way and Kid probably looked up to Killer as a kid. I hope this makes sense! Thank you so much and keep up the great work! ❤️❤️❤️
(I’m an only child so I don’t have any firsthand experience with how sibling dynamics work. But I can do my best!)
Kid usually goes to Killer for advice, when he feels the need to ask for it. Normally he just goes with his gut instinct, but when it comes to decisions where he’s not sure what to do he’ll always ask Killer first. He’s been like that since they were kids, and Kid was definitely that kind of kid who asked a billion questions like this:
“Hey Killer, how come blood’s red when it comes out, but all the veins on me are blue?”
“…I dunno.”
“How come you don’t know?”
“…I dunno…”
Even now, they have conversations like that, usually while they’re both drunk.
“Oi, Killer…why do they call Berries ‘Berries’? What’s up with that? They don’t even look like berries, it’s just paper money n’ gold coins.”
“…I’m not sure.”
“And speakin’ of gold, how come I can get weapons and shit to come to me but not other metal stuff like gold? Sometimes I accidentally get ladies’ jewelry and shit to stick to me, but never gold. How come?”
“…I think you’d have to ask a scientist or something.”
“Man, I should’ve asked Caesar Clown that while we were in Punk Hazard. When the fuck are we gonna come across another egghead?”
Killer’s actually shorter than Kid despite being older, and Kid relishes in being a shit and using Killer as an arm rest or calling him his “little’ brother (I mean, in terms of height, he’s right).
There are times where Kid goes too far in a fight and is just repeatedly beating an enemy to a bloody pulp until they’re completely unrecognizable. This kind of ferocity can sometimes unnerve his crewmates, and Killer’s the only one who’s able to pull him off of a guy and get him to leave it alone. He knows that Kid gets like that because of something he’s been repressing for a while (overall stress, anger that’s just been festering and he has no other real outlet for it, etc.), and he’ll pull Kid aside for a bit over drinks. Kid doesn’t really open up about things unless he’s a bit drunk, and even then it isn’t much. Still, Killer’s always been there to listen to Kid vent (sometimes for upwards of an hour)
There are a lot of inside jokes between them, and they’re constantly giving the other crewmates embarrassing stories about each other.
“The first time Killer messed around with his hair, he tried it with some honey that we’d stolen from this bakery on the island. I can still hear him whining and complaining that he was gonna have to shave his entire head for it to be normal again.”
“Oh yeah, I remember that. I also remember when we stole the honey, you saw a moth fly by your ear and screamed like a little girl before tripping over an open sack of flour.”
He and the rest of Kid’s crew watched from the sidelines while Ace was executed, and he felt a pang of sympathy for Luffy. He knows what it’s like to have a brother like that, and to lose one is just as painful as losing a biological family member. He has a lot of hidden respect for Ace after that, and he knows that if he and Kid were in that situation that he would gladly die for his own “little brother”.
Killer isn’t necessarily protective of Kid, since in most situations he can take care of himself. The only time in recent memory where he was genuinely worried for Kid’s safety was shortly after they’d first interacted with Kaido. Killer was dragged off while Kid was left imprisoned alone, and even after his personality had shifted due to the failed SMILE Fruit, a small part of him is still worried for Kid’s safety and well-being. After he became Kamazo, he’d have frequent dreams/nightmares about Kid being force-fed a SMILE Fruit that left him to the same fate as Killer.

Various Characters X Reader
The boys were homesick. Three days away and more than a hundred human lifetimes in the house of lamentation goes down the drain. They all moaned their loss as soon as they walked in through the door. Imploring the unknown future to let them rest in their safe haven.
Gathering in the kitchen, the first thing they did was prepare a nice lunch, having left before they could eat anything. Inviting you to join in with them, you all laughed and played in the newly finished kitchen that none of you have yet to test out. Reminiscing on your stay in the palace. Poking fun at the small fights and the constant visits to the underground labyrinth. Law sniveled over his lost pet while Sanji proudly pronounced the new pact he’d made.
All throughout the meal, the chatter continued. Even as it ended and the table was cleared, the conversation didn’t end. It just moved on to the living room, all sitting around each other to better listen. The stories didn’t stop at the retreat. Bringing up past stories, and mementos that they’ve all kept. Your shenanigans with the siblings being a popular topic of conversation. Sabo leading the cheerful atmosphere to a more subdued one.
“Y/n, you’ve already made pacts with four of my brothers, what’s your end goal?” He didn’t beat around the bush. He needed to know the truth and so did his brothers. All of them deserved to know.
“A-ah well you see…” There was a pressure in the room that was palpable, different from when the demon brothers showed their true forms. It wasn’t suffocating, so to say, but it was dizzying having to think of a lie. You were doing this for Zoro, so he could make up with Sabo. At first, when you first told him you’d do it, it was because you pitied him. He seemed so desolate. Then you got closer to the brothers. There was this undeniably human urge to help them. You wanted to make their family whole like it was before the war. Before the protest. Before the heartbreak of losing someone they loved. It was a human cliche to want to fix a broken person, but this was more than one single person. It was a whole family being held together by lies and deceit. They were grief-stricken. Grasping at whatever they could so that their last remaining strands of normalcy stayed. It wasn’t a lie you wanted to help them all. It wasn’t just for Zoro anymore. So you told the truth, for the first time. Albeit, leaving out a few details.
“I’ve seen how well you all seem to get along… but there’s this underlying… how should I put this…” You put a balled hand up to your chin, thinking of a way to say this without being rude. “I don’t mean to step out of line…. But you all seem sad. There are times where you all seclude yourselves and I don’t know.” You ran your hand through your hair. Looking anywhere but them, you distracted yourself from the embarrassing statement. “Maybe it’s because I’m human, but I want to see you all get along.” The brothers were confused, they thought they had been getting along. Sure they had their sad days, but who didn’t? “I know that you guys have your times when you do, but there are other times when you all can barely hang out together?” you knew how this was sounding. You didn’t mean it like that! Waving your hands in front of you, you tried to fix your mistake. “I-i mean there’s just a coldness in the room… I uh….” Blood rushed to your face, you were making a fool of yourself. You should just wrap it up. “I just wanna see you guys hang out comfortably all the time because even if you don’t I see you all as friends!” Your face was hot, and your hands shook. It was embarrassing to admit this, but you needed to say something. “Oh Y/n, I love how much you care for us!” Sanji swooned over to you, taking your hand in his, he leaned in close. Dropping his voice lower, he murmured in your ear, “and It’s so cute how flustered you got.”
Law and Luffy thanked you for looking out for their family while Kid fought with Sanji. He wanted him to let go of you, but the other didn’t relent. You all lost yourselves in your own little bubble; maybe if you had paid more attention you would have noticed the suspicious look Sabo sent you. He was skeptical of your intentions. He believed you wanted to help. He just didn’t think that what you said was the whole truth. Ace noticed it too. He might be tempestuous and distant, but he was also smart. He too knew you were hiding something. And he knew how much it irked Sabo to not know the full truth. Ace liked to irritate Sabo, and if you were hell-bent on getting them to grow closer. The answer was one in the same. Out of the spite he had, he’d make an offer. One you couldn’t refuse.
“Y/n.” You pulled away from Kid and Sanji who were still grumbling about not letting the other lay a hand on you. “Yeah?”
“You’ll need my pact too, right? I’m willing.” He seemed smug. He knew how mad Sabo would get if he offered himself without a thought. They argued back and forth, about how he wasn’t doing this because he wanted to make a pact. Ace was doing it because he liked to rile him up. Back and forth they went. It was close to physical at some point, but the others separated them. Telling them to go to their rooms to cool off.
There it was again. A constricting force in the room. Ace and Sabo fought all the time, usually it was yelling. If it leads to anything more physical one of the brothers would tell them to go to their corners. It made you wonder what could have happened to turn their relationship so sour. Right now wasn’t a good time, you’ll wait for later that night and ask one of the brothers you had a pact with. Kid or Law, they were the most likely to give out information.
After everyone left for their rooms for the night you felt it safe to poke at the conflict the two brothers seemed to share. You texted the group chat you had with Kid and Law, asking if they could provide some answers or if it would be best to speak to Ace in person. They both spammed you with messages saying that you shouldn’t bring it up to him, ESPECIALLY not in person. Law offered to fill you in on what happened at the cost that you come over. It was a small risk, but a risk nonetheless. Sabo didn’t like you wandering around late at night. Though you wanted to know the truth more than you feared the reprimand you would get if you were caught. So you went over with Kid tagging along. Obviously he would, for ‘help with the storytelling,’ as he put it.
Law’s room hadn’t changed since the last time you were here. Papers were still strewn around on his desk; comic books and books alike were still piled high on the coffee table, the floor, his bed, any surface really. His beloved series is still center stage in this whole mess. It was probably the only thing that looked like it wasn’t in disarray, Law included. He had dark bags under his eyes and seemed to only change between the same three outfits. Always adorning it with his beloved long coat.
“Can’t believe you live in this mess.” It looks like Sabo wasn’t the only one scolding Law for the state of his room. Kid pushed books off of Law’s bed to make way for himself, all the while continuing to grumble about the mess. “At least it’s not a scrap pile like yours.” Angrily, Law collected the books from the floor and stacked them in a pile by the bed. “I have them organized! And I use them, unlike you who reads the book once and never picks it up again.” Kid grabbed a book of the pile next to him, “I mean, come on. Med books? Who’d read these in the first place!” Kid tossed it back onto the floor. “I read them! And study them! If you’ve forgotten I’m a licensed surgeon.”
“Surgeon my ass. The only reason that you’re allowed to do any of your sadistic testings on people is that the people at the hospitals are too afraid to tell you to fuck off!” sparks were flying between the both of them, you needed to end this now. “Will you both stop! Two brothers fighting in one night is enough!” Law turns to you, still simmering in the heat of the moment, “Is that an order, master? Gonna keep telling us what to do?” How could he think that! You would never abuse your power over them. “No, it’s not. But the fighting is getting us nowhere.” The tension in the room is thick, both of them not wanting to let the other have the last word. It soon dissipated as Law decided it was time to get the point of this meeting. “Well… about why Ace hates Sabo. He doesn’t really hate him per se.” Law kept his eye on Kid, who continued to move his things around. “How should I put this… the more alike two people are the more they hate each other?” Kid scoffed, “why don’t you start from the beginning. You’re just gonna confuse her.”
Law crossed his arms, “if you’re so great at telling stories, why don’t you?” Still fighting, really? “Fine, I will. Sit down pee-squeak, I’ll try to make it short.” he patted the spot next to him. Making himself right at home, isn’t he. “You know what we are, right? The seven deadly sins,” He answers his own question, classy. “We only became that after we started to revolt against our father, god”
“Before we became that we were the seven heavenly virtues. Chastity, abstinence, liberality, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.” Law noticed Kid settling down, deciding that he wasn’t gonna move anymore of his stuff, he sat at his desk. “Ace was the first of us to fully change,” Law continued the story from his new spot, “the civil war in Heaven fueled his anger. It was like a punishment from falling from Heaven. Straying from the path of righteousness,”
“Ace was all rage and frustration when we first got here.”Kid breathed out heavily from beside you. He remembered the bout of anger his brother had. It wasn’t easy to see one’s own family be consumed by such an emotion. There was the hate for the war and towards his brothers. Hate towards himself. Ace couldn’t help it, he was just so angry all the time now. They all had to go through that with him. “We had to keep reassuring him. Teaching him how to cope.” Law rubbed at his face, insomnia finally letting his shoulder droop in tiredness. “Sabo doted on him. He felt guilty for making us fall out of grace.”
“But it wasn’t his fault,” Kid interjected, “we CHOSE to follow. We saw how corrupted it was getting in Heaven too.” you’ve heard from Luffy that it was, but just what was it that made Heaven corrupted? “If you don’t mind me asking, how was it corrupted?”
“That’s a whole other story, sweetheart.” Law said, “short version, there was gonna be a war between Heaven and Hell. Demons were amassing an army, but it’s so hard to be good these days.” Law’s eyes widen as he raises his hands, feigning shock. “Heaven didn’t have many soldiers so they had to get some.”
“A war between Heaven and Hell?”
“Yes, that was with the old king, but rules around here are different. If you can defeat the king you get to rule.” That’s why Shanks is in office right now… erm palace. That also explains why after all this time and fighting, Hell wanted the three realms to get along.
“Ahem,” Kid clears his throat, “back to the story, Sabo doted on Ace. They got close for a while, but soon after we found out Sabo swore his loyalty to Shanks.” Law followed him up, “It wasn’t just that he swore his loyalty to brand new king. It was that he tried to hide it.” That must have made Ace feel betrayed. His loyalty to his father was terminated in such a disastrous way. He wouldn’t have wanted to pledge his loyalty so soon, nor would he have wanted his brothers too. After Ace and Sabo had gotten close, to have the newfound avatar of pride throw his dignity away and swear his loyalty. It must have been a hard blow. One that must have broken Ace’s trust even more. Cracking their bond as brothers. Sabo didn’t just put his pride away for this, he put doubt in the strength the brothers held. This thought must have festered until Ace just found himself hating Sabo.
*Author’s note: I changed how wrath got was birthed or whatever to this to go into more depth. (In truth I forgot about the circumstances of his birth so I decided to just roll with this.) (Later I did find out but decided to keep it this way.) Also, I changed the scene to only envy and avarice because too many characters in one scene make me stressed out.😓*

Idk, I think it might be bc you're early on in the series/are a new blog? Just a guess, since a lot of people like Ace/Law/Kid or whoever. Anyhow, could I have some headcanons of Sanji with a crush who hides their mouth under a slip-on mask? They were told were told by their village elders that they have a disturbing grin and the mask doubles as a partial disguise while going out. Hope you get more requests soon!
i can appreciate that actually. also if that’s the case i should probably dip lmao i hate having to beg for asks. i do however appreciate you trying to help! also explain to me where you get these ideas bc they are stellar
“Hey.”
You jumped a little as a voice sounded from above you. Out of pure habit, you reached up and adjusted your mask, making sure it hadn’t slipped. When you looked up, you found a young man in a straw hat hanging upside down from the lowest branch of the tree you were seated under.
“Hello,” you said hesitantly. He wasn’t blinking as he stared, which would have been unnerving enough, but the straight line frown he wore made the whole of his upside down face downright disturbing. Closing the book in your lap, you prepared to run.
“Why doesn’t your mouth move when you talk?” he asked. His voice was deadpan, with little to no curiosity, which was in opposition to the fact that he had asked you a question that bordered on too personal.
You weren’t sure what possessed you to answer. Maybe it was that he seemed a bit dense, maybe it was the fact that he made you feel normal, but whatever it was, it made you say, “It’s…a mask.”
With that, he flipped out of the tree, landing on his feet in front of you. His mouth stretched into a wide and silly grin, instantly putting you at ease. “Why are you wearing that?” His question, though asked with no malice, set off alarm bells in your head, and you began to shut down.
“That’s none of your business, straw hat. I have to go.” But that wouldn’t be the last you saw of him.
You met the rest of the crew later on in the week, at the same time you found out they were pirates. It didn’t take them long to realize that the villagers seemed to avoid you unless absolutely necessary, and that you wore that mask like it was a defense against them. Each of them asked, at least once, and though you were less frosty than you had been with Luffy, you still made it abundantly clear to them that the topic was off limits.
They took the hint, and took it well, which maybe attributed to why you agreed to join their crew the day they decided to leave port. That, and they didn’t act like you were a freak for wearing it, even though they had only ever seen half of your face. They didn’t pressure you to remove it, to let them see it. They accepted that you may never show them, and invited you anyway.
You didn’t turn around to wave goodbye to anyone on the island, you knew that no one would be there waiting to see you off. It was likely only your imagination, but you thought maybe you could hear the whole island breathe one collective sigh of relief as you sailed away on a boat full of relative strangers. You did, too.
One person that seemed to care less than any of the others was Sanji. He treated you just like any of the others on the ship, except maybe Zoro. You weren’t sure what that was all about, but the others seemed to ignore it, so you did too.
You had been on the ship for a few months when you began to notice a change in his behavior, however. It was such a gradual change that you didn’t notice it at first, in fact, you weren’t really sure why you noticed it all of a sudden. You just did.
A big tell-tale was less flirting with Nami and Robin. Not that he didn’t still freak out periodically, but it was just…less.
A less obvious tell, and one you thought you were imagining at first, was that he began to watch you. More than he was before, and in a different way than before. It wasn’t suspicious, maybe concern, maybe confusion, you weren’t sure. But the more you watched him, the more he watched you.
It wasn’t long before it began to bother you, and you began to grow paranoid. Maybe he was finally wondering what was wrong with your face that you had never shown it, maybe he was going to demand you reveal yourself. Panic filled you at the thought, and you began to contemplate jumping ship at the next port of call. You wondered how long it would take them to notice you hadn’t come back, and that thought made you feel so lonely it was almost unbearable. It was the first time you had actually felt like you belonged somewhere, with no one judging you, no one casting dark looks over the shoulder as you passed, not ducking down alleyways as you approached.
The idea of leaving left your head swimming, and it was as you were starting to drown in it that Sanji approached.
The call of you name snapped you out of it, just enough that you could respond, but realizing that it was him sent you spiraling again. He wore a serious, contemplative look, the cigarette between his lips casting a strange shadow across his face.
“Woah, what’s wrong?” he asked, stopping just shy of your personal space.
“Nothing,” you said, a little to quickly, and even to you it sound hollow and untrue. But you couldn’t think of anything to add, too lost in your own negativity as you were, and you were content to stay there, until he spoke again.
“So, uh, we’re going to be landing soon. I was wondering…I have to go shopping so…do you maybe want to go into town with me?” he asked, his cheeks a flaming red that only grew brighter the more words tumbled out of his mouth. He was scratching the back of his head, his eyes flicking towards your face but never quite meeting yours.
Whatever you had expected him to say or ask, it wasn’t that, and you began to gnaw at your bottom lip as you considered his request. Throwing caution to the wind in the wake of the relief that filled your chest, you nodded, allowing a small, shy smile to creep up onto your face.
You shut it down just as quickly, slamming the happiness down as hard as you could before it could really manifest itself. It was too much to hope that he would go any further, too much to hope that it was more than it seemed. But still, you couldn’t help the tiny spark that lit in your chest.
From that moment until the time the anchor dropped at the dock, your heart fluttered against your ribs like a trapped bird, hope and despair playing tug-of-war with your nerves the whole time.
They eased a little when Sanji looked to you and offered his arm, which you took hesitantly but quickly came to enjoy. As you strolled through the square, he chatted amicably, like you were his best friend, and you found yourself reciprocating with ease. It was easy to forget for a while that you weren’t like everyone else, Sanji just treated you like that.
The facade was broken by a child screaming out, “What is that freaky mask your wearing? Are you ugly?”
As soon as you registered what was said, you deflated and sunk in on yourself, hunching your shoulders as you used your hair to hide your face. On the verge of tears, you yanked your arm from Sanji’s, wanting nothing more than to run back and hide on the ship. A strong hand on your wrist prevented you from escaping, and to your astonishment he began to yell at the child, calling him rude and demanding he apologize.
Unable to look up, you missed the terror on the boy’s face, followed by his mother ushering him away in a hurry, casting scathing looks back at your companion.
The grip on your wrist relaxed, and his thumb began to rub circles on your skin. “Hey, don’t listen to him. I don’t have to see your face to know you’re beautiful.”
It was such a typically Sanji thing to say you couldn’t help the snort of laughter that escaped your lips, but you quickly clamped your hand over the mask covering your mouth and cast a quick glance at Sanji.
“You can laugh. I’m not offended,” he said with a shrug. His hand slid further down, linking his fingers between yours before he began to pull you along in the direction you had been heading before the rude child called out.
You let him, watching the back of his head in bewilderment.
That initial outing didn’t establish a pattern exactly, but it quickly became apparent to everyone that something more was going on between the two of you since that day. Gentle hand brushed, a hand on your lower back as he passed by you, and soft smiles in your direction were too obvious to miss.
He still had his outbursts about Robin and Nami, but now they seemed reactionary rather than attention seeking, and even they could see the difference. Something about you had enamored him, and all without him ever seeing your full face.
The idea that he ever would filled you with dread. So you began to pull away.
He didn’t give you very long to try, though, and approached you about it exactly one week into your avoidance scheme. Naturally, you tried to duck away from him, but his hand around your wrist stopped you. It reminded you so strongly of that first day, that date, as you had begun to think of it, that you wanted to cry. It hurt to be so afraid of something as natural as this, but you couldn’t take the rejection if he decided, like your village had, that your smile was too unnatural to be normal.
“What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly avoiding me? Did I do something wrong?” he demanded, but he didn’t sound angry. Just hurt.
It twisted your heart, and you stopped trying to pull away. He was so kind, and funny, and charming, and all that coalesced into as strong a pull as you had ever felt towards someone before, and that frightened you. “No, Sanji. It’s– I–” You sighed in frustration at the words that wouldn’t come. You wanted to let him down easy, but it was impossible when you didn’t want to let him down at all. “I think– it’s better this way. I have a lot of…problems, from my past. I don’t want to drag you down.”
“It’s about that mask, isn’t it?” he asked, pulling at your wrist so you would turn around to face him. You went willingly enough, but wouldn’t look him in the eyes. “I don’t care about what’s under it. If it’s a scar or– or you have big lips or–”
You snickered at that, placing the back of your hand to the mask to stifle the noise. A flicker of a smile appeared on his face as well, but fell quickly.
“I mean it. I don’t care what’s under the mask. I like you, I want to get to know you better, if you’ll let me?” It was more question than statement; he was asking permission, and that endeared him all the more to you. For such a flirt, he sure was polite.
You looked up at him, trying to gauge whether he was lying at all, even though you knew from his tone that he wasn’t. He was only every this serious about food and fighting. And you, it seemed.
Trying to tamp down the rising panic in your chest, you began to reach up towards the ties that held your mask in place, your head starting to swim as your breathing became more shallow. Hands on yours stopped your progress though, and through the fog you could hear Sanji say, “Hey, you don’t have to show me. Not until you’re ready.”
Tears sparked at the sincerity, but you shook your head, words coming out in a hoarse tumble. “I need to know you’ll accept me as I am, before I get too attached and you hurt me. It’s better this way. Believe me.”
You could hardly see him, but thought you saw him nod, and the hands slipped from yours. The ties came loose a second later, and you cradled the mask gently in your hands as you brought it down from your face. It was the first time in many, many years that you had allowed someone to see you without it, and it felt like you were standing on the deck naked without it.
Sanji remained quiet as he stared at you, drinking in your face in it’s entirety like it was his first sip of water in a week. “Well, I don’t see any big lips, or a mustache, so–“
You cut him off with a snort, your lips curling up in a smile before you could stop it. Immediately, you clapped a hand to your mouth, barely daring to look at him but needing to know what his reaction was.
His brows furrowed, and his hand came up to tug gently at yours. You reluctantly allowed him to pull it down, clasping it in his like he was afraid you were going to hide behind it again if he let go. “Is that what you’re so afraid of? Your smile?”
The nod you gave him was a forced one; it felt like a weakness admitting it. The villagers never expressly made you wear the mask, but they made it clear they liked you better behind it. It became an unspoken rule that you had to wear it, and pretty soon you began to believe something actually was wrong with your smile, and with you. But the way Sanji was staring at you, not with disgust but with confusion, made you believe, just for a second, that maybe nothing was wrong.
“I don’t see anything wrong with it. Maybe it isn’t exactly like mine, but that doesn’t mean you have anything to be ashamed of.” His free hand came up and pushed a curl of hair out of your face, his fingers tracing a gentle path down your cheek afterwards. “I understand if you’re afraid, but my personal opinion is that you’re gorgeous. Wear the mask if it makes you feel better, but you don’t need to be ashamed of anything.”
More than anything, besides the fact that he didn’t outright run from you in horror, you were relieved that he didn’t diminish your fears. They were long kept and deep rooted, and they weren’t going to be conquered in one night. But even with just one person on your side, by your side, you felt better already. Like maybe one day you would be able to face everyone without your mask.
“Thank you, Sanji,” you whispered, your voice thick with unshed tears.
“You’re welcome, princess. You gonna stop avoiding me now?” he asked, flicking you gently on the forehead.
You giggled, and before you could even consider lifting your hand to hide it, it was already coming up. But then his was wrapped around it, squeezing gently. “We’ll work on that,” he said, leading you into the kitchen. “I think it’s time we celebrate to seeing that pretty face of yours.”
let me explain something to y’all it is 11pm here and this got wildly out of hand and it’s too mushy and i have an extreme paranoia of characters being ooc without meaning for them to be event tho sanji is hella easy but this was also super fun to write
also i suck at endings but tbh this one is like, top 5 for me so kudos me ima pat myself on the back. i’m posting this now bc idk what a schedule is :^)
also x2 i realized i didn’t edit this stupid thing, then i reread the ask for the third time and realized you asked for headcanons so long story short no headcanons, just scenario, and one very tired, incapable of reading admin

East Sea of Monsters - Chapter 17
Whiskey Peak doesn’t often experience visitors from the East but Baroque Works tends to treat them like everyone else.
That is their first and final mistake.
-
Chapter 15 of this series now has a podfic by the amazing @oceanaromantic ! Please go check it out if you haven't done so, its absolutely awesome to listen to! (Part 1 Part 2)
Read the entire series on Ao3 for better quality and authors notes! Gen, creepy, featuring all of the Straw Hats, multi-chapter story. (Tag “Ficart” on my blog should also show some fan art for this fic!)
“The East Blue has a different nickname to those in the Grand Line, and those who hail it as home have a few… unique traits.”
-
Whiskey Peak has many visitors. Some not even from this realm.
Some fall quickly to their (Baroque Work’s) schemes, others take a bit more convincing, but eventually, they all do become another nameless, stone grave upon its rolling green hills.
(Before the hunters of Baroque settled there, there were still gravestones littering the peaks, gently Illuminated by moonlight. They don’t know where they came from, and perhaps they never will.
But they are always careful of something on this (breathing) island that might get them instead of the other way around.)
(Has it left?)
(Gold Roger was the last person to step foot on this island. According to local legend, that was the last time a stone cross appeared on its own.)
These visitors should be no different, even if there are special instructions for their capture and death.
These pirates are from the East Blue after all.
And everyone knows the East Blue is the weakest.
(They don’t think about monsters such as Garp and Roger. Bounty hunters aren’t particularly bright like that. )
The Straw hat pirates are insane and the ‘townspeople’ slowly falling unconscious isn’t a complete façade, but eventually they wear away to sleep.
The permanent kind.
Dead or alive after all.
(The bounty hunters don’t comment on how they can’t quite focus on their visitors, how Ms. Wednesday had shaken her head when they tried to ask what sea they came from directly. (East Blue they found out, and thought nothing of it. East Blue, they think later, and shiver.) Bounty hunters deal in information but Whiskey Peak has never needed it before.)
They didn’t count on one waking up. On all of them waking up.
(For the first time in 23 years, Whiskey Peak adds some of its own to the graves dotting the hills. The beast, touched by East Blue waters, feasts on its people with a wicked smile.
-
A good swordsman never lets the drink overcome him, and Zoro is no different.
(Unless he’s sure that his nakama can handle it. Booze is great after all.)
Plus, costumes and stupid code names. A trap, obviously.
(Mr. 7 could never have made it in the East Blue – he would have been eaten alive (literally) – it’s a good thing Zoro took his head.
(Asura had been pleased))
Standing in the moonlight now, watching them walk out, thinking they had taken care of all of them, he can’t help but smirk.
The bounty hunters have no idea, do they? They don’t know of the darkness that seeps into these waters, of the darkness that they unwittingly invite into their homes. They don’t even register the misty quality about their crew and how Luffy’s playful bites at hands serving his food had been anything but.
There is blood to be shed tonight, and it won’t be Zoro’s – this he is certain.
(Ever since they crossed into the Grand Line, there as been a presence, pressing down on them all. Crocus had explained it vaguely – the Veil, this thing that obscures what should not be seen.
Zoro, and the rest of the East Blue, apparently fall into that category.
(And it’s no surprise – Zoro thinks of the things he has seen beneath the waves and the people on every island, and wonders if there are things that are obscured from him.)
Technically, they shouldn’t be here. Technically, they shouldn’t have any strength to surpass this bearing might of some invisible force.
But Zoro doesn’t care. He’s strong enough to withstand it – and eventually, he vows, he will surpass it.)
He lifts Wado, lets her blade gleam in the moonlight, and announces his presence.
(In shimmering view, two other arms lift two other shadowy blades – solid and sure but not quite of this realm.)
“Sorry, but I think you might want to let them sleep a little longer. Luffy’s hungry when he wakes up you see…”
The bounty hunters quiver, and Zoro can taste their fear.
Good.
-
There’s blabbering, and Zoro reveals a bit of his hand. It doesn’t matter though, because a step forward (through three worlds) and he’s in their midst’s, a feral grin on his face and moonlight shining off his blades and many arms (not that they can see all of them).
“Wanna fight?” he smiles.
They pull their weapons and Zoro unleashes hell.
-
The moon sets later to an explosion of fire. Zoro watches dispassionately and licks the blood off his blades.
So the bounty hunter is actually a princess, huh?
Funny. He thought princesses had more sense. Weren’t they supposed to run from monsters?
Yet here she was, on her knees and absolutely terrified but begging them to save her country.
“You hail from the East, don’t you? Please, I know the truth – you can help me save my country, can’t you? I’ll offer you anything – anything, just please, help us – there’s no one left.”
Zoro doesn’t care about her all that much, but Crocodile is a war lord, and rumor has it his right-hand man is proficient with blades. A challenge, right off the bat in the Grand Line – looking to his left he can see Luffy thinks the same, if about Crocodile, but probably with the addition of a feast.
(His captain should be sated for now, though he will have to cut down how much he eats in front of Vivi. She already saw Zoro, bloody and blood thirsty, cutting down her former colleagues – how will she react to Luffy, bloody and bloodthirsty, feasting on the people of her country?)
Nami, the blasted weather witch, has berries in her eyes. The storm she’s made of rumbles and flashes with the promise of gold as she sidles up to the princess – “A princess, eh?”
“FEAST!” Luffy shouts, and Zoro knows for a fact they were heading to Alabasta.
Vivi trembles but the inklings of a smile make their way onto her face. Zoro gives her a grin and goes to take a nap, internally laughing at the paling of her face as she caught a glimpse of his fangs through the veil.
She better get used to it.
It’s one of the more mundane things on this sea.
(In flickering moments, she sees the truth, and becomes used to dwelling with demons, in a way that few are. She doesn’t question things, and doesn’t let fear rule her as she sleeps unguarded.
Zoro’s proud to call her nakama, when they leave.
They should have taken her with them.)
-
As the Going Merry leaves Whiskey Peak, blood sinks into the ground. The water darkens and only a few more souls manage to leave the deceiving paradise in the moonlight.
The rest are not seen again.
A hundred more gravestones appear.
(Water from the East flows from Reverse Mountain without the bracing divide of the Calm Belt to stop any presence. It. corrupts as far as it can reach, turning whales into beasts and islands into monsters.
Whiskey peak, the closest island to the East Blue, has been in its waters for a long, long time.
It’s an Island and it does not take kindly to visitors.
Especially ones that create their hideout on its shores.)

Battle for the Ocean’s Hearts
A/N: Okay my lovelies to celebrate this beautiful day I wanna update chapter 2 of Battle for the Ocean’s hearts as well as explain to you guys why I haven’t been updating.
Okay here goes, somewhere along the line between my birthday and now I lost my love and passion for writing. I literally would rush and force myself to write something anything and I would hate what I had out and didn’t want to tell you guys because I am not use to sharing my feelings and I thought it was better to tell you guys I am almost done with the stories or that I will have them out soon etc. and that was wrong of me to do so and I am sorry.
However, after taking some time off social meida and watching One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Demon Slayer as well as finding a new job and realizing my worth I began to slowly find my passion for writing again, and on this special day I got back my love for writing of course I had to rewrite all my work because like I said I rushed everything and was not happy with it now I am back and I am going to keep my word on the days that I will update my stories ^^ welp that enough of my babbling on with the show ^^ and once again thank you all so much for sticking by me and hope you continue to do so ^^

Chapter 2: A mother’s concerns
Ace, Sabo, and Luffy looked at their bags, making sure they had everything they needed, Dadan watched her boys pack their things with gloomy expressions, she didn’t want her boys to leave, more importantly she didn’t want them to give up their dreams of being pirates.
She understood where Garp was coming from, wanting to protect the boys, but still…didn’t he realized that by bringing them to the Marines he was basically leading the lambs to the slaughter?
Sure they promised him to not hurt the boys so long as they followed orders and stayed on the side of the Marines, but Luffy, Sabo, and Ace were meant for the sea. They were meant to rebel against society and to cause as much chaos and mischief as they could.
Garp probably did understand that and maybe that’s why he was sending them to Marinford so that they are somewhat protected and aren’t hunted down because of their blood.
While in the beginning she hated them, she slowly began to love them as a mother would. These boys lost everything and only had each other and her.
She realized how close she came to losing them when Sabo almost died, when she saw he was alive and well she thanked Shanks and begged for forgiveness from Ace, she slowly realized that Ace felt lonely because of his blood and her distain for him didn’t help.
After Ace forgave her the four became close, and when Shanks offered to take them she was reluctant but agreed, they were no longer safe here with Sabo’s parents trying to find him the next time could be worse.
Of course, that’s when Garp showed up and told her he was taken the boys with him.
“Dadan,” the bandit turned to see Garp looking at her, she couldn’t help but feel that Garp was hiding something from them. Something that he didn’t want anyone to know especially the boys. Of course, she was probably reaching, and it might be her motherly instincts trying to protect her boys and their dreams but still she couldn’t help but feel that there where holes in his stories.
Like how exactly did the Marines find out about Ace and his parentage? Also, the timing seemed off, them finding out about Ace being Gol D. Roger’s son around the same time Luffy found out about Shanks being his father as well as Shanks informing both her and Makino that he will be taking the boys with them.
It just seemed weird to her that once Shanks announced that he will be taking the boys away Garp comes out of the blue and telling them and the boys that the Marines found out the truth about Ace and that they would be spared if Ace joined them?
Something just didn’t seem right and while Dadan did want to question him she knew that if she did he would probably call her crazy or worse he’ll probably give her a fist of love and tell her to mind her own business.
Which now that she thinks about it when it comes to the safety of her boys…it is her business! Still she had to make sure that her boys were safe and that this wasn’t another ploy of Garp’s to get the boys to become Marines.
“What?”
“I want to thank you for all that you’ve done, and just know that whatever you need I would be happy to pay you back for everything you’ve done,”
She looked at him before she took a deep calming breath.
“Garp…I want to ask one thing and one thing only,”
“What’s that?”
“Will the boys be safe with you?”
Garp stared at his life long friend…the woman he bribed to take care of Ace and Luffy, she raised Ace and took care of Luffy and while Sabo wasn’t part of the deal she still took him and risked her life to save him all because he meant something to Ace and Luffy.
Taking a deep breath he looked at her, he knew she cared for them even if she acted like she didn’t, still he knew that if he told her the truth Dadan would take the boys and contact Shanks the minute she could.
She cared for them, hell she even supported their dreams of being pirates so he had to make sure that whatever he said next did not give her a hint that he was not only lying to the boys but to her as well.
“Yes, they will be safe. So long as they stay Marines and follow protocol then nothing bad will happen to them,”
The look that she was giving him made him feel a little unnerved, it was like she knew he was lying to her but she was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if it meant ignoring everything inside her that was telling her to take the boys away and run as fast as she can.
Garp…owed her a lot…and holding out information from her was another thing he will have to owe her.
Dadan took a deep breath before she walked over to the boys and grabbed each of them by the scruff of their necks.
“You brats better behave got it?”
The three boys looked at the woman who took them in, fed them, and risked her life to save Sabo and them.
They owed her a lot…and if doing this little favor for her then they would do it.
“We will,” Sabo said.
“Whatever,” Ace grumbled.
“Okay,” Luffy said.
Dadan tried not to cry at seeing the boys’ disappointed expressions, she knew how badly they wanted to be pirates, sadly they had to give up their dreams.
Well Ace did, but she knew deep in her heart and soul that neither Sabo nor Luffy would be able to live with themselves if they had to fight Ace and harm him that doesn’t involve training.
She also knew that Ace would rather die then arrest his brothers or bring them any harm so if giving up their dreams meant protecting each other and saving one another from the heartache of bringing harm to one another they would gladly do it.
The bandit turned them around and wrapped them in her arms and held them as tight as she could.
“Watch over one another, protect each other,”
The boys didn’t say anything, they just held onto the woman who took care of them…the woman who became a mother to them.
“We will,” they said together.
Dadan then looked to Garp.
“Take care of them or else,”
Garp nodded his head and stepped outside letting the small family enjoy their moment.
After their good-byes the boys and Garp boarded his ship and set sail.
He turned to look at the boys who were torn between looking excited at being in the open sea or disappointed that they were at sea and headed towards becoming Marines and not following their dreams.
Garp decided that this was the perfect time to turn those frowns upside down by telling them some stories about his time as a Marine and maybe just maybe this will bring them some joy into becoming Marines.
“Okay brats gather around, I wanna tell you guys about my time as a Marine,”
“Aren’t you still one old man?”
Garp shook his head,
“I mean, when I was young,”
The three looked at each other before shrugging their shoulders not really caring if they were being honest.
Garp took it as a yes abd began to tell them tales of when he was younger and the dangers he faced.
If they were being honest Ace and Sabo were a tiny bit interested, okay maybe a lot but only because they like the idea of kicking someone’s ass, other than that they didn’t care about Marine life.
Luffy on the other hand,
“Sounds boring,”
Garp looked at his biological grandson.
“What? What do you mean boring? The life a Marine is much better than that of a pirate’s,”
“You always follow the rules, my dad said being a pirate means about being free and getting to do whatever you want,”
Garp took a deep breath and silently cursed Shanks for wanting to become a pirate.
“Luffy, being a law-abiding person is better than being a criminal,”
“What’s wrong with wanting to be free?”
Garp glared at his grandson.
“Being free is just a fancy term for people who want to do whatever they want and hurt whoever they want,”
“That’s not what my dad told me,”
“Did your dad also told you he’s one of the most dangerous pirates to sail the sea? And a celestial Dragon? Or that he used to be in Roger’s crew?”
Garp knew that if he brought up Roger that would set Ace off and mentioning that he was a celestial dragon would piss Sabo off since he hated nobles and celestial dragons.
Luffy loved his brothers and he would listen to them without hesitation at least he hoped that was true since Dadan mentioned how ever since Ace, Luffy, and Sabo met the three have balanced each other out in different ways.
And sure, enough he was right, Ace looked at Garp with eyes full of curiosity and anger.
“Shanks…was in Roger’s crew?”
“Shanks is a celestial dragon” Sabo asked.
“Yes, he’s dangerous and not someone to be taken lightly,”
Looking at Luffy he saw that his grandson was close to tears.
“No…my daddy isn’t a dangerous man…he’s just a pirate who wants to be free…”
“He’s killed innocent lives Luffy, that’s what pirates do, they kill and take and destroy lives, why do you think that your other father never send you to him? He didn’t trust him and was scared that you would get hurt with him,”
Another lie, Dragon didn’t tell Shanks about Luffy because Dragon didn’t want Shanks to know as well as give up his life of being a pirate, hell Dragon even admitted to Garp that if Garp didn’t take Luffy in then he would find Shanks and hand the brat over to him knowing full well that he would not hesitate to take him in and do whatever he can to protect Luffy.
Garp could see in Luffy’s eyes that he was trying to cling onto the image of Shanks that he had in his head, that he didn’t want to believe what his grandfather’s words and that Shanks wasn’t a celestial dragon, the very same people that tried to take Sabo away from him or that he killed innocent people but Luffy wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, and so long as he didn’t question nor asked why Shanks left the Celestial Dragons then Garp should be fine.
As for Ace and Sabo…mentioning that Shanks was once in Roger’s crew would surly piss off Ace and stop him from defending Shanks since the man saved Luffy from a sea king and if Ace was angry then Sabo’s protective side over Ace would take over, stopping him from asking the right questions.
These next few days Garp would have to play his cards very, very carefully if he wants the boys to give up their dreams of being pirates and become law abiding citizens.
He looked at Luffy who was trying hard not to cry but was losing the battle, Garp took him in his arms and allowed the boy to cry. He looked at Sabo and Ace who did not hesitate in joining the hug. Garp wrapped his arms around all three of them, silently asking for forgiveness for all the lies he was feeding them.
“Its to protect them, I need to do whatever I can to protect them…”
Somehow that was slowly getting harder to believe.
