Hi there! I was wondering what your thoughts are on ACD Watson's wives. First of all, I know nothing about the marriage traditions or laws in Victorian England but it seems weird to me that he kept remarrying because I guess his wives kept passing away? I mean he didn't/couldn't divorce them back them, right?
He didn't do very well with his private practice from what I've gathered. How come he could afford remarrying all the time. Also in my culture (East Asian), if a person's spouses kept dying, the matchmaker would refuse service because that person would be considered a curse.
Thank you and have a great day!
Hi!
Your questions are pretty interesting. As a South-East Asian, I can understand how people would frown at the person whose spouses kept passing away. There must be quite a few similarities in our cultures, even if we're not from the same country/region.
1.) A simple, detached answer would be that Arthur Conan Doyle was not the best person when it came to keeping his stories consistent, especially on the character-related details.
He might've wanted to tell us that Watson got married, but probably he didn't want Watson's marriage to keep him from assisting Holmes with his cases, and that's why everything about Watson's married life and wives is so skewed.
He wasn't even consistent about the location of Watson's gunshot wound in A Study in Scarlet. Initially, Watson was shot in the subclavian artery of the left side. But on the next page, the wound location has been shifted to his leg? This is just one of the many examples of Doyle's inconsistencies in his stories.
Maybe he didn't check that Mary Morstan had died sometime during one of his stories. Anything is possible.
2.) Another version of the answer (which is heavily filled with Holmes/Watson shipping): Watson was an unreliable narrator and didn't want any unwanted attention of the general public drawn towards the nature of the relationship he had with Sherlock Holmes. That's why Watson was so inconsistent in the stories that he published in The Strand magazine. I believe there's a reason Watson describes Holmes as cold and calculating at some points, but goes on to describe the incidents where Holmes was undoubtedly kind to someone at other points of the stories. I even wrote a meta about it here .
The fanon version is that Watson wanted to avoid the risk of being arrested on the grounds of gross indecency, and so he made up a wife - or even several wives - to cover it up.
I mostly agree with this theory, because otherwise, Watson (who's married by the timeline of The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes) going away with Holmes to Switzerland, and even sharing a room with him would be pretty weird and not exactly plausible, I don't think his first wife, Mary Morstan, is an imaginary character. But it's very much possible that her marriage to Watson was just a ruse to hide from the prying eyes of the public.
If we strictly talk about canon, then Watson marries Mary Morstan in The Sign of the Four, then she probably passes away by the time of The Return of Sherlock Holmes short-story collection (the jury is still out on that one - again, because of Doyle's inconsistencies), then Watson starts living with Holmes again as a bachelor for a long time. Then by the time of Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, his wife is brought up again.
Either it was another case of Doyle's inconsistencies, or Watson remarried sometime off-stage. (Though I think Doyle would've at least made a passing reference to Watson's remarriage, him being the POV character in most of the stories and all... idk.)
From what I've gathered after reading all the stories, Watson seemed to have only two wives at different points of time. Mary Morstan and another unnamed one in Casebook.
From the first-hand experience of reading those stories, I don't think Watson having multiple wives is a canonical thing. That's also a part of fan-interpretation. It's because the physical description of Watson's wife/ wives kept changing every time she was mentioned in any stories because of the lack of consistency in the whole narration. That's how it seemed to me when I read the stories. Though I've gone through them all only once, which means I could be wrong about this bit of detail in particular.
Still, Watson didn't seem to have numerous wives in canon to me. Just two.
And yes, you're right. Watson wasn't well-off even with his private practice. The fact that he was able to afford to remarry so many times (if he ever did) is quite odd.
Then there comes the social stigma behind divorce/remarriage. I'm not that familiar with the marriage traditions in Victorian England either, but I don't think people worldwide were so free and open-minded about the topic of divorce in general. Things have advanced in Western countries nowadays, but the social aspect of all this must have been quite different in the Victorian era. So, you're right about that thing too.
Tl;dr: There is no specific answer to your question, because the author of the original stories didn't bother to keep his details intact. They kept changing in canon, so you're free to believe whatever you want to. Because, as you said, the fact that Watson keeps remarrying all the time doesn't add up with his financial condition along with the societal conditions in that era.
So, everything is just open for interpretation here.
I personally believe that Watson only had one wife - Mary Morstan - whom he had a lavender marriage with (a fake marriage for the sake of society). I know this isn't canonical either, but what actually is canonical - well, nobody has a definite answer to that question.
I hope you find my answer satisfactory, because your ask was rather interesting.
Thanks.

What are your opinions on chads injuries? I feel like since he had injuries that he barely survived from he would have problems with them in the future
I WROTE A HUGE AND PERFECT RESPONSE AND LOST EVERYTHING BECAUSE I'M A DUMBASS SO I'M HAVING TO REWRITE AND IM SO SAD BUT i literally jumped from my bed and ran to the computer so i could write this better because i do have a few thoughts and i wanna comment on it. so
chad is a bit more complicated than tara in the sense that he's got a lot more injuries in places that aren't particularly certain as tara's, so the outcome might depend on a few aspects, such as where exactly the knife hit.
as much as i was baffled by the fact he survived after the amount of stabbing he's got in scream 6, it's not uncommon for victims to survive said wounds even when they've got hit multiple times; take the girl who survived the slenderman stabbing, for example, who was still a child and could still crawl out and ask for help. she's alive, well, and doesn't seem to have any permanent after-effects to her injuries.
when we were analyzing tara's case, my bestie @oooh-the-horrors left a list of all of chad's injuries on my inbox and i still got them here, which will come in handy now :3
Tumblr media
in scream V, i don't think any of his injuries led to any major outcomes, honestly. i mean, he probably went through surgery for the ones he's got on his stomach and had to go through rehabilitation after said surgery so he could get back on his feet and his body could function properly again, but nothing that could make him lose his intestinal function completely or not. he got it stitched back together and lived his life just fine after that. stab wounds usually have a better prognosis than gunshots, as well :3
the shoulder case isn't concerning as well because there aren't many areas that could have severe damage, seeing it isn't an area with many nerves that could be hit. from where it got hit, it probably didn't hit any tendons, as well, which would be the real problem in this case
and the stab in the back, both in 5 and 6, are super tricky. we've seen cases of characters being stabbed on the back in scream and having permanent consequences coming from it, aka dewey, but dewey's case just irks me and leaves a kinda bitter taste. i don't see, anatomically wise, how the place he got stabbed would lead to a limp; if the knife hit the spine, it would probably cause loss of movement in the entirety of the lower part of his body, not simply that limp? and if the knife hit the middle in chad's case, it could be similar, but i also don't believe it hit the middle for him. anyway, i'm sorry i know this isn't about dewey but his injury confuses me and i had to say this while i got the chance 😭
for scream 6 in particular, while it baffled me that he did survive that amount of stab wounds, it's entirely possible for someone to survive multiple injuries even when they hit organs and stuff. an example is the girl who survived the slenderman stabbing, she's alive and doesn't seem to have any permanent injuries, and she was much younger and more frail than chad when she got attacked. anyway.
the trickiest one of his injuries would be the stab in his left clavicula, particularly if it hit the subclavian artery. i'm sure it isn't the case, but considering it hit the artery and judging by the time he was left there bleeding before help came, chad would probably lose an arm lmao the amount of blood he lost would lead to tissue death aaaand gangrena. so that would be preeeetty tricky to treat.
arteries can be stitched back together just fine, since it's not permanent like a nerve damage, so... i'm sure his arm is just fine though!
he could probably have multiple injuries in multiple organs and i'm sure it will take him several months to recover, but he got stabbed so many times you lose count of where and what the knife must've possibly hit 😭😭😭😭 so he basically went through multiple surgeries for his injuries as well, but will probably recover just fine after rehabilitation/physical therapy.
it would be very interesting, though, if it didn't take many time timeline-wise between scream 6 and 7 and he was still recovering. chad's physically the strongest and biggest one between all of them and with that i'm sure he feels the need to protect his friends, but he wouldn't be able to when he's still fragile and treating the wounds left from the bailey family in scream VI. it would make him have to find other ways to help - or lead to some very interesting sequences seeing him try to fight while having fresh wounds.
overall, as much as he's probably like spongebob after all of the hits, i'm sure he'll turn out fine :3

6 (continued)
In which we get a closer look at Mercymorn.
And Harrow finds out how to undo the nerve root twist keeping her paralysed; she would do well to heed Mercymorn's warning, tbh. That could have ended badly.
“Lie, Harrow. Now.” “Fifteen,” you said immediately, hoping your own meat would not betray you.
Why does the Body bid Harrow to lie?
I said, Put an age requirement in the letter! I said, Everyone will be pubescent if you don’t! And now we reap what he sowed. Hiss.
Hiss 🤣 Lady Mercymorn, you're funny.
She was right in calling Harrow and Ianthe babies. Idk how old Ianthe is, but she's still young as well. They're young for regular humans, nevermind Lyctors.
“You’ve met our respected elder sister, I see,” Ianthe said. “She accused me of being twelve, called me one of those animaphiliacs, then told me I wasn’t as good looking as someone called Cyrus. It was like being back with Mummy,” she added, with a touch of fond nostalgia.
Good to know Ianthe got the same treatment. Sounds like some Mummy issues are abound as well.
And what is up with this shuttle? We will see.
"Well, Nonagesimus, they do see action when the Cohort suddenly loses three warships to as many orbital radiation missiles, which is three more warships than we’ve lost in the past thousand years,” said Ianthe.
Eighteen thousand dead??? I have a bad feeling about this. Flashbacks to the prologue, when they were under attack from... those insecty things, who seem to be related to that thing the Emperor was talking about before. The Resurrection Beast.
As he drew closer, you could see that he looked as though he had prepared in a hurry; he carried a small bag, hastily packed, slung over his shoulder—the ever-present tablet peeked out of his pocket, along with what seemed to be at least five styluses—and he was dressed simply, as per usual, in a black shirt and trousers.
You know, for the God-Emperor, so venerated by everyone around him, he really just seems like some normal guy. Some totally normal, extremely powerful, practically immortal guy. Kinda like the Lyctors. I wonder what his story is.
Each leaf was intertwined with a match-sized infant fingerbone.
Sorry, anatomy nitpicking again. Infants don't have much in the way of fingerbones, it's mostly still cartilage at that point. What bones they do have in their fingers are going to be much, much smaller than matches.
Unless cartilage counts as bone, for these purposes? We may never know.
He turned to find the beautiful ward completed on the wall, and the Seventh adept quietly dying on the floor. There was a whorl of blood down her front; at some point she had levered her syringe deep into her subclavian artery. [...] Her expression changed from glassy-eyed expectation to resignation; she rolled over to kiss the dusty floor of the shuttle. You and Ianthe were left blinking, eyes and noses streaming, as though you had just eaten something slightly too spicy.
Ah, well, it's not Quite resurrection, as she wasn't Quite dead yet, but close enough. Interesting, the externalised power here, affecting Ianthe and Harrow. I want to study the Emperor and his powers under a microscope.
The non-sequitur conversation between the Emperor and Mercymorn is unnerving. When they start talking again, I have no idea what they're on about. I'm going to keep reading, assuming it will all be explained to me in due course.
She was deeply excited. That starry, far-off gaze refocused on you, and she whispered coyly: “Should we hold hands, in girlish solidarity?” At your expression, she puffed away a strand of colourless hair and remarked, “You’re the one who investigated my tonsils.”
Lmao, good point. I'm guessing that means she doesn't know the reason for the kiss - which I can only take as good news.
The shuttle might as well have been empty for all that you could sense within, except for that single foetal bundle of thanergy lying still inside the coffin.
Cytherea's, if I remember correctly. Ominous that Thalergy remains this long after she died.
Ohhh, we're getting more insight into The River and how it works. Absolutely Fascinating. It's like subspace, but also the underworld/afterlife, and apparently, full of man-eating monsters.
Interesting!! Sounds like a great place to take your two babyfaced new Lyctors to/through.
Mercy said lowly: “It turned out that being sensible and brilliant and careful doesn’t keep you from getting ripped to shreds by ten thousand feral ghosts.” Ianthe said, “But the Beast—?” “Emerged unscathed twenty minutes later,” the Emperor said. And: “Life’s a bitch.”
I wholeheartedly agree. It seems everyone here is grieving in some way.
You recalled the enormous construction of regrowing bone, your hands encased in it so that you could not wrench yourself free, your mind voyaging nauseously into the chamber of another person’s brain. God said, “You’ll need that skillset now."
How conveniently the narration/Harrow's memories twist themselves to avoid ever even mentioning Gideon.
And they're in the River, and this concludes the liveblog for the night. See you probably tomorrow for Chapter 7.

PARTIES: @longislandcharm and @realmackross TIMING: Mid December right after this thread. SUMMARY: After the attack on both of them, Mack meets Winter at the hospital and the two have a heart to heart. WARNINGS: Murder mention tw, Assault tw, Blood tw (brief mention), Unsanitary tw
It was weird. The experience of having someone else lingering inside your body like Henry had. Yet, Mackenzie was aware of everything that had happened. Everything that had gone on and, now, here the young zombie was, once again left alone leaning over the devoured corpse of someone she was forced to eat just to survive. And as much as she wanted to justify it by the attack on Winter, she knew Winter would survive. But this man’s family probably would not.
As she slowly climbed to her feet, Mackenzie glanced around to see if anyone had spotted her. This town had been very strange when it came to witnessing things like this. It was always blamed on animal attacks, and the longer she stayed here, the more she believed that residents just resided in fear and instead of trying to help others, they simply put it behind them and went about their day. Which was what she knew she had to do, if she wanted to live to see another day herself.
Shaky and once again nauseated from her actions, the Hollywood Starlet wiped her hands, smearing blood onto her pants – another pair ruined – and dug her phone out of her pocket. Concerned for Winter, she searched the local hospital, and when she found what she was looking for, she headed back to her car.
A quick pit-stop at home to shower, nurse her own wounds as best she could, and a change of clothes and she would be on her way to see her friend.
“You’re really lucky, Miss Cahya. They just missed the subclavian artery.” She wanted to scoff as the doctor finished up the stitches to her shoulder but what came out was a soft gasp as the pressure of his handiwork started to bypass whatever numbing medication he’d put on the wound. She felt so lucky sitting there after being stabbed in a scuffle with a mugger who was most definitely dead now, and by the hands of her best friend. “Why do doctors feel like if a person isn’t close to death then they’re lucky? This shit still hurts, you know.” The man was taken aback, she could tell, but she didn’t care if she’d hurt his feelings or whatever. The pain medication was doing shit all for her as he stuck a needle in her shoulder over and over to stitch her up.
“Be nice, Winter. Remember, he’s helping you.” She scowled at Henry’s words but didn’t respond otherwise the doctor might think she needed more than a sling and some stitches. Instead, she looked at her phone to see if Mack had responded to any of her texts. Nothing.
Most of her frustration that night was directed at the wrong people. She knew that. But the worry and the guilt gnawing through her wasn’t helping. Every minute that passed without a text meant more attitude from her big personality. Henry was eyeing her as the doctor finished up, knowing exactly why she was being a complete bitch to the man just doing his job. He couldn’t spend all this time with her and not get to know her and the moods she could get in. “She’ll call when she can.”
She stayed silent but her heart rate was giving away the nerves that were churning in her gut. The doctor even glanced at the monitor for a moment before he finished the last stitch in her shoulder. After care instructions and follow up doctor’s appointments were discussed before he walked away to get the orders in for her discharge, Winter looked to Henry and finally voiced her concerns. “No one was around when you left her body, right? Like, you don’t think anyone saw her, do you?” The ghost shook his head, trying to be reassuring. “There was no one around, I made sure.” His words didn’t do much. What if someone had walked by after Henry had left? What if the mugger hadn’t been enough to satiate Mack’s hunger? There were so many what if’s that could have come true. She just hoped that Mackenzie was safe wherever she was.
Mackenzie was still a bit shaky from everything that had happened. From a chance encounter with Winter that turned fatal to adding one more human life to her collection, the twenty-five year old hadn’t expected her day to turn into what it had, but here she was, grabbing her car keys and rushing out the door to go check on the last person, she had expected to be interacting with for the day.
As she made her way back to town and towards the hospital, she couldn’t help but run scenarios and conversations over in her head. Could she have prevented Winter from getting hurt? Would Winter have still been alive if she hadn’t run into Mackenzie while she was out shopping? Were her and Winter good now? So many questions, and as she pulled into the parking lot, parked, and shut off the engine on her car, Mack took a moment to just gather her nerves, “She’s your friend, Mackenzie. And she needs you.”
With one final sigh, she got out of the car and made her way inside, “Uh, I’m looking for Winter Cahya?” Directions and a room number in hand, Mackenzie made her way down the hall. When she reached the room, she gathered herself, nervous of how the interaction was going to go. The sooner you go in, the sooner you get this over with…
Raising her hand up, she wrapped softly on the door with her knuckles waiting for the okay to enter.
“What?” Her voice was like venom as she answered the knock. If she could spit out the annoyance that was flowing through her like some sort of acid, Winter felt like the door would have melted away with that one word. Even Henry recoiled slightly, knowing full well that she couldn’t hurt him. It was the stress of the night finally getting to her, her mind racing over where her best friend was at that moment, and it all just seemed to spill over onto the people who didn’t deserve it. No, the one who deserved it should be dead by now. As bad as she felt about that, she kept telling herself that he deserved it. He’d stabbed an innocent person for having a complication with her purse for god’s sake and then proceeded to stab another over and over again.
When she looked up to see Mack walking in, all thoughts of what happened to the other man went out of her mind. She immediately stood from the bed and wrapped her good arm around Mack’s neck pulling her into a tight hug. “Oh my god, I was so worried about you. I didn’t know why you weren’t answering your phone and Henry had to leave before he could make sure you were okay. Are you okay?”
She pulled back, her eyes roaming over her best friend as if forgetting that she could heal quickly. Especially when she had a meal. “Nobody saw you, right?” Winter wasn’t even thinking about the fact that they had been arguing before the mugger had jumped in. She didn’t care and whether Mack did or not was yet to be seen. All she wanted was to know that her friend would be okay.
Mackenzie could feel her entire body sink down at the hiss coming from behind the door. Did she really want to do this? She had to, right? But that venomous word was a big indication that Winter would be just fine, which was a relief to the zombie. However, nothing between them would ever be resolved if Mack had just up and disappeared again. It was the easier option in the moment, but in the long run, she knew it was a lot more damaging.
With a deep breath, she went through the door reluctantly to find Henry by Winter’s side, still a strange feeling knowing he had just been inside her body not too long before, and with a soft nod, acknowledged his presence despite not really wanting to look at him or talk to him. Her mind was quickly pulled to Winter though, when she felt the numbing embrace of her friend’s hug. Closing her eyes, she took it in for a moment. It had been months since she had been hugged by Winter, and she slowly put her arms around the girl, before pulling away.
“Uh, yeah. I’m fine. I can’t really feel much, you know? Perks of being dead, I guess…” Mackenzie could feel her heart breaking once again knowing she had killed somebody now that her zombified experiences were starting to linger in a brain that was no longer fully rejecting the trauma of killing and eating people. “It’s just gonna take some time, but not as long as that apparently…” She motioned to Winter’s shoulder, but the question of if anyone saw her or not, she hadn’t been fully sure, “And I-I don’t know. Kind of a lot going on between being possessed and killing someone else.” Her smile was weak and one that was tired, “Guess we’ll find out later on. But I have noticed that people in this town like to believe heavily in the excuse of animal attacks.”
“I’d definitely call that a perk right now.” Winter looked down at Mack's abdomen where she had taken the brunt of the damage before subconsciously placing a gentle hand on her upper arm. She knew deep down that she’d not want what Mack had to go through just to alleviate pain and healing but damn was it tempting when painkillers weren’t helping to take the edge off. She also couldn’t understand why her friend was being…subdued. Winter knew there was pain underneath those words, a different kind, of course, but Mack was making it seem like it wasn’t too big of a deal. It was a reaction that the medium would have expected from herself.
She rolled her eyes when Mack motioned to her arm, almost waving it off like she normally would have. But something in Winter told her it was time to stop pushing away the realities that came with being in this town and to start embracing them. She needed to start talking about this stuff and not hold it in anymore. At least when it came to Mack. “I think he said about six weeks recovery. Which is going to suck because I have to wear one of those ugly slings.” It was like she could feel Henry’s eyes roll even without looking at him but she ignored it. “But I’m not dead thanks to you…and I mean dead dead. Not…undead.”
Which was something they probably needed to talk about. Before the stabbing the two of them had been having a pretty heated discussion and it hadn’t even been close to resolved. All Winter wanted to do was forget about it but sweeping it under the rug wasn’t an option. Mack deserved some answers. “Yea, about the possession thing…I didn’t know Henry could do that. I mean, I knew he could possess people but I didn’t know he was strong enough to do it.” She paused, trying to gather her thoughts before she spoke again. She didn’t want another fight happening. “I’m glad he was able to though. I mean, obviously I didn’t want you coming after me. But I’m sorry you had to…die again for me….and I’m sorry for acting like such a bitch lately.”
“Six weeks will be here and gone, before you know it. Besides, I’m sure you could bedazzle that thing. Or there’s gotta be somebody around here who can.” Mackenzie looked at the sling. It was that deep, yet somehow dull hospital blue, but if anyone could make it work, she knew it would be Winter. The girl just had a certain cool about herself. And even though Mack knew Winter was good at hiding her true feelings, she knew that the girl was probably going to eat up the attention she got wearing a sling around town, which made her let out a quiet snort to herself.
“Yeah, glad I could help.” She let out a breathy laugh. “We may not exactly be on the best of terms right now, but I wasn’t going to let some rando stab you to death. Especially here at the holidays. What kind of person would that make me?” It was a joke she had hoped Winter had gotten. A morbid one, but a joke nonetheless.
At the mention of Henry’s name Mackenzie looked away again. It was a feeling she had only experienced one other time, and that was in the cemetery at Halloween. Thankfully Lil had been nearby to exorcize the ghost out of her (the ghost who had been a complete dipshit, she might add), but Henry was different. Henry was familiar, and it felt more personal and like an invasion of her privacy. She knew why he had done it. She didn’t want Winter being her meal for the day, but it still didn’t make that experience enjoyable, “It’s…It’s fine. I mean, I-I just wanted an explanation you know? Why you just all of a sudden ghosted me? I mean if I knew us not talking for months on end was going to happen, I never would have told you what I told you. I just thought I could trust you…you were my best friend.” Mack set her eyes to outside the window where she thought she caught a glimpse of massive wings, but shrugged it off. “I’m just glad you’re okay.” She looked back over to Winter.
“Right, you’d be a pretty awful human being if you did.” It was like a role reversal, Winter the emotional one who was apologizing and Mack being the one making stupid jokes to try and alleviate the tension. She didn’t like it. Even if Mack was right about her being able to rock an arm sling. She could do it if she wanted to put the energy into it. But that wasn’t important. Right now, what was important was the medium being real with her friend for once. It was such a rare thing that she had to prepare herself by taking a couple of deep breaths in, not ready to get so personal. Even if it was with someone she cared deeply for.
“I don’t think it’s fine, actually.” She looked at Henry, the ghost seemingly shocked as he stared back at her. She was sure that he was trying to avoid Mack’s gaze just as her friend was doing to him but he became even more uncomfortable after realizing where Winter was going with this. The ghost stood without a word and walked through the door so he could give them some space, careful to avoid the zombie as he went. Maybe occupying someone else’s body was more personal than she realized.
“You deserved an explanation and I didn’t give it to you because…well, you know me. Anything too deep sends me running.” Now she was the one uncomfortable, closing herself off by crossing her arms over her chest. But she was starting to believe that she needed this talk just as much as Mack did. “I was scared, you know? I should have been scared when I first found out what had happened to you but I kept telling myself you wouldn’t hurt me, even in that zombie state you go into. When you told me about Brody it was like…that delusion I was holding onto so tightly shattered.” Winter finally looked at her friend, the vulnerability she was always so scared to show shining in her eyes. “I didn’t want to face that. I didn’t want to face the idea that one day one of us might have to hurt the other one. So…I went ahead and hurt you anyway.”
Mackenzie didn’t know what to say. The day had already been eventful enough, but when Winter decided to open up, all the young zombie could do was stand there and listen. She had loved Winter with all of her heart. The woman had become like a sister to her. But the past several months were hard. No. Impossible. And just when Mackenzie had felt like things were starting to work out for her, life had taken another shitty turn, which included her best friend being the one to run this time. So now, as she stood silently listening to Winter pour her heart out, she honestly didn’t know what to do or say.
Taking in a deep breath and letting it out softly, she looked to the floor. Words were failing her, but she had been appreciative that Henry had left the room. Mackenzie had needed time to process and that meant not having someone who had experienced all the pain and hurt she felt on the inside, standing awkwardly to the side; even if he had been dead.
“I-I just, I don’t really know what to say. The reason I disappeared in the first place was to keep you and my family safe. And when you showed up here in Wicked’s Rest, I was shocked. I mean I know it was coincidental. But it was like having a piece of my life back after everything with Brody - something I never thought would happen again. And we started getting close and things almost felt normal, until the sleepover. And I warned and begged you that things could get dangerous and you ignored me, which I don’t fault you for that okay? I died. And I’m sure, as weird as it seems, you probably were still going through grief - maybe shock, I don’t know. But I thought I could tell you.” She finally made eye contact with Winter.
“I thought we were in a good enough place that I could tell you about…him, and maybe I just rushed it. I don’t know. But then you disappeared and everyone else started to, and I started to hate myself all over again for what I had done to Brody and after touching the flats, and it got bad, Winter, and the longer you were gone, the more it hurt and the more I felt so alone. And I know you deserved time to grieve and mourn and take in the shock of everything. On top of all of your own life stuff. It just really, fucking hurt being in the dark for so long after I tried to talk to you.”
“So you succeeded. You did hurt me. Really badly. But I never wanted you to end up here or to have to see me eating that man – which by the way, since we’re on the topic of honesty, anytime I zomb out now, I can remember every part of it. I couldn’t before. So I remember the look of horror on your face when I couldn’t control the urge of needing food. I remember not having control of my body when Henry possessed me. I remember you giving him the okay to allow me to kill that man. I remember him leaving me. I remember all of it. And I swear to you on every part of my being that I never intentionally mean to go after anybody, if I can help it. It’s just who I am now.” Mack’s face fell, and she let her eyes drift back to the floor, tears sprinkling the linoleum every now and then.
Her arms crossed turned into Winter hugging herself as Mack spoke. It was one thing knowing she was causing someone else pain but hearing how much pain she actually caused was enough to make her feel so ashamed of herself. She should have been stronger for Mack. She should have been able to handle everything that this new life was throwing at her. It was her role. She was the rock that stood strong for everyone in her life no matter what the circumstances but for some reason, with this entire situation, she’d lost that strength that she prided herself on having. “You didn’t rush anything.”
The words were so quiet that they barely filled the space between them, the girl not even sure her friend had heard them as Mack continued with how she felt. Eyes downcast, she could feel the tears welling up in her eyes but this time she didn’t fight them. No, it was time to start being real with her best friend. It was time to let her see that Winter wasn’t always that strong rock that she felt she needed to be.
The tears fell, along with her pride.
Clearing her throat with the goal of her words at least sounding stronger, she threw a hand up in the air. To anyone else it could have given the impression that she was frustrated but she was really giving in fully to her feelings, a gesture of having no fucks left to give on whether or not Mack saw her as anything but solid. “You were in a good place, you had every right to tell me about him if you trusted me with it. It’s me, Mack. I wasn’t ready for it. But I needed it.” And she had. Winter had needed that delusion to break, she’d needed to know that things weren’t always going to be okay and go her way. She needed to know the danger that came with loving someone who wasn’t completely alive. “I needed you to break that delusion so that I could protect myself if it comes down to it. I hope it never does but with the way I was thinking I was going to let you eat me if you got to that point again.”
God, she hated when her voice broke. That alone was enough to add to her shame but there was no point to hiding herself away anymore. Not with Mack. She’d seen it all already. Still, knowing that the zombie could remember Winter…giving permission, or whatever it was that she’d done, for Henry to let go of mack and eat the other person was a lot to take in. It was another thing to be ashamed of but maybe she could weaponize it for the good of both of them, or at least for the good of Mack. “So…you know it’s not your fault then. It was me. I made that decision to give that guy over to you. You couldn’t control it but I…could have. I could have saved him over you but I wasn’t about to let him live when I knew he was going to destroy so many other’s lives on purpose.” She didn’t want Mack to blame only herself. Winter was the real murderer in this situation.
She took a step forward, and then another until she was right in front of Mack. Winter’s good hand went out to take the blonde’s, squeezing it softly. “But I know now. I know what needs to be done, I know that this won’t be the outcome every time. There’s not always going to be someone who has worse intentions around to bring you back to me. I’m prepared for that reality and…ready to accept it. Because honestly, not having you in my life these past couple of months has been worse than whatever outcome could come in our future together.” That thought hurt but it was something she had to accept.  “Do you know what this means? It means we’re in this together now. Fully…if that’s what you want.”
Mackenzie refused to look up. She couldn’t. She loved Winter with all of her heart, and the conversation between them was digging into an already painful day. The zombie was just grateful she was still in the presence of the woman who could have easily been murdered if it hadn’t been for her taking the brunt of the stabbing. But Mackenzie listened. She listened intently. She took in every word that Winter was saying. Holding onto them in case something else came along sooner rather than later to tear them apart once more. But what she didn’t expect was for Winter to admit that she needed the illusion that everything was okay, to be ripped away from her. That the rug had to be pulled out from underneath her in such a painful way for them both just for the brunette to realize how dangerous Mackenzie Ross really was.
What struck Mackenzie to the core though, was Winter taking the blame for the murder of her attacker. It was the last thing she had expected, but it caused her to let out an audible gasp of relief. One less murder on an overwhelmingly long list that was still growing every time she lost control. In fact, Mackenzie found herself sobbing, which she hadn’t done in quite some time in front of anyone else. The last time had been in front of Alex, ironically enough, when things with Winter had gone south at Monty’s farm.
Quieting as Winter was now standing in front of the ashamed creature, Mackenzie slowly raised her head and locked eyes with the woman. She could barely feel Winter’s hand holding hers, but it was enough to make an impact. She hadn't been this close to her in a long time, “I can’t always promise that this is going to be easy, Winter. Y-You know what I did to the person I loved most in this world.” Tears were running down her pale face, “And if it ever gets to the point where you’re in danger, because of me…then you have to promise me that you will do whatever it takes to kill me for good, because I am not going to be the death of you Winter Grace Cahya.” Her gaze was stern. If saving Winter’s life meant Mackenzie dying, then so be it.
Her best friend sobbing in front of her, the sheer relief of that one murder being off of her shoulders, was everything that Winter needed to show her how heavily Mackenzie’s little rampages were weighing on the blonde. It almost made her angry. Not at Mack but at the people who had the gall to say she wasn’t trying to make things right with the victim’s or their families. What the hell was she supposed to do? Walk up to the mother of someone she killed and say ‘Hey, I ate your son. Hope we can be friends.’ The guilt of every person she killed was clearly eating her alive so in some small way karma was striking down Mackenzie Ross. In her heart, she knew that one day her friend would figure out how to make things right but right now she was still so new to everything that was happening to her. People needed to give her a break.
She quickly wiped some of her own tears away but they were still falling as Mackenzie quieted down, her friend’s words making Winter nod. “I know, Mack.” She’d seen the crime photos that had been released or leaked or however they’d been shown to the world. It was nauseating at the time even when she thought her friend had nothing to do with it but knowing that Mack had been the cause was a gut punch. “I know what you did, Mack, but that’s not who you are. That’s a consequence of what you are and I see a huge difference there.”
She nodded her head, not wanting to admit out loud that she could one day have to, for a lack of a better word, dispose of her friend. But she’d seen what Henry could do and no matter how uncomfortable it had made the two parties, Winter would take that option over permanently losing Mack any day. It almost made this whole situation easier, knowing that she had another way of stopping zombie Mack without actually killing her. More tears fell, Winter’s throat coated as she started to speak again. “I promise, okay? If it comes down to it I’ll do what it takes.” It’s what she’d been trying to say all along but it was like saying it aloud set it stone, almost as if some sort of fae was in the room making sure to bound this for them. “But I’m done with running from this. Friends for life…or well, a lifetime.”

Ok so. This is gonna be part craft talk part commentary because craft is essential when talking abt authorial intent and like. What the story is trying to say. Anyways. Commentary below the cut.
The first time the Righteous Man sees Castiel’s vessel, he stabs it. His knife slips through the skin of its chest and scrapes against the collarbone, nicks its subclavian veins and arteries, and punctures the very top of the left lung.
Ok craft time. What I’m doing here is creating a little shortcut, so to speak. I’m priming the audience to think of cas (and his perspective) as somewhat alien, detached, and, crucially, as a being separate from his body. I want to immediately draw attention to the fact that there is a vast difference between cas the angel, and jimmy as the vessel. This is really important, because it sets up a lot of the thematic work in the rest of the fic.
He pokes at the knife with his grace, and it—it tickles. It sends some strange electrical impulse up the vessel’s spine, and Castiel does it again, and again, and again, though he cannot say why. He touches the hilt of the knife with the vessel’s fingers, again, and his true eyes slip closed. He will keep it, he decides. The knife will stay where it rests until Castiel is told otherwise.
Ok so. The idea I’m getting at right here is that, to Cas, pain isn’t necessarily a bad thing. At least, not yet. Right now, pain is just one sensation among many, and it’s just as fascinating and miraculous as like. Smelling the air around him, or feeling the earth beneath his feet. Like cas’s definition of pain is so alien and other that OUR version of pain just just sort of fun to him, at first. He literally doesn’t understand pain enough to be hurt by it yet. And the implication here is that this is a trend in cas and dean’s relationship long after cas learns that pain is bad. Like. Dean hurts cas, constantly, but he stays because even though it hurts, he likes the intensity of the emotions. Or, when dean is beating him up, the sensations. Men will be masochists etc etc.
He is due for a debrief—the Host clamors for it, their curiosity seeping into the edges of his thoughts. But inexplicably, Castiel finds himself reluctant to return. He has always enjoyed his time inhabiting a vessel; the dull human senses are so limiting, and so profoundly visceral in their limitation. How exhilarating, to feel the throat work as it swallows, to taste stale gasoline and fungal rot on the air, to feel the minute brush of clothing against bare skin! How incredible, to have a thing as wondrous and sensorial as a mouth, as a hand, as a squirming, reckless tongue!
So. I’ve gotten the reader to start thinking about Cas’s body as separate from himself. Now, I’m doing a little pivot, and exploring how CAS feels about his body. And what this section is about is really like. Comparing angelic existence to human existence. It’s about seeing everything from a distance vs interacting with it up close. Looking at a photo of the beach vs jumping into the ocean. And this, fundamentally, is what cas is hungry for. He’s hungry for sensation, yes, but also for experience. For knowledge.
In Heaven, Castiel is a creature with ten thousand roving eyes and dozens of wings and great, terrible rings of vibrating vocal cords, home to nine hundred ninety-two thousand, four hundred and three human souls slumbering inside their individual chambers. He is rather large, for an angel of his rank, and could easily hold twice that number. This makes him feel hollow and incomplete, sometimes, when he pays attention to the empty rooms inside him. He has no lips, no mouth. He has no tongue to taste or nose to smell—just his eyes, studded along his inner and outer walls, which see far more than the human nose or mouth can perceive. He does not touch, for he has no hands. He does not eat; he is not a thing that consumes. Instead, he is tightly bound to his brothers and sisters, slotted neatly together like kanawa tsugi joinery, and he waits patiently, hoping one of the newly dead souls will be assigned to one of the empty rooms inside of him.
And this right here is WHY cas is so hungry for those sensations and experiences. To put it simply, he’s so fucking bored. His entire existence is an extremely dull combination of watching things from afar and patiently waiting to be filled. Like. Cas’s fall is incredibly complex, and there are a lot of factors involved, but I think one of the big reasons why he was originally so fascinated by dean (and the rest of the world) is because he’s literally so fucking starved of stimulation (mentally, physically, emotionally, etc) that ANY source of stimulation is like. Hypnotic and addicting. Men will throw their entire lives away for one single crumb of deanpussy etc etc.
In truth, Castiel is somewhat envious of his vessel. And sometimes, when the Host is quiet, he contemplates keeping it, the same way he has chosen to keep the knife Dean thrust inside of him. He touches it once more. Runs his fingers around the split skin where it enters him, and pulls lightly at the torn flesh. He tilts his head and savors the hot, shivery feeling in the vessel’s gut and the warmth of its blood slowly dripping down his chest.
I love it when Cas is a little slutty. As a treat. Go baby finger yourself!!!
“Don’t say it,” Castiel says, and works his way back up the beach, towards where Uriel stands.
“Say what?” Uriel replies, and steps neatly into Castiel’s path. A hint of a smile plays about his vessel’s lips, and there is a mirthful look in his eye.
“The quick-witted quip on the tip of your tongue.”
“Fine,” Uriel says, and pouts, just a little. “I’ll save it for someone who appreciates my ‘quick-witted quips.’”
He’s the funniest angel in the garrison! But. Jokes aside. The point of this exchange is to gesture toward cas and Uriel’s shared past, as well as how their relationship works. The point here is to give the reader a little taste of how close Cas is to uriel, and by extension, his siblings. It’s there specifically to make you think about what cas will lose when he eventually falls, and make you feel a bit crazy.
“You didn’t see him, Uriel. Not the way I did.” And oh, what a sight it was. The soul, piercing white and overlaid with deep black, pockmarked corruption, towering over the blasted, blighted lands of Hell like some strange Medieval castle. And the self-image it projected; part mangled flesh, part sulphuric smoke. The sharp-edged tool it clutched tight in its fist. The way it carved into the weeping soul below it, the artful scene of pain and despair. How it felt, when Castiel scooped that raw, starving, screaming thing inside of himself. And when it bit at his innermost walls until he bled, then suckled on his grace—Castiel shudders at the mere memory. He feels the echoes of it even now; the faint impression of hungry, tearing teeth deep inside.
The number one way to build a theme in a work is through repetition. So. This is a repeat of a few ideas I’ve already touched on in the fic, but they’ve now been combined and interpreted slightly differently, because if you repeat yourself exactly people get bored. The idea here is that yes, cas doesn’t understand that pain is bad, and yes, cas is hungry for new knowledge and sensation, but he is SPECIFICALLY hungry for pain. For that new sensation dean introduced him to when he bit at Cas’s insides. THAT is what has him so fascinated with the knife dean stabbed him with. It’s not just the knife’s sensation on its own; it’s the similarity to what cas is ACTUALLY curious about. Cas wants to be full, again. He wants to feel so full that it hurts.
“No, we weren’t. Archangels are important. Our superiors are important. We are soldiers. We go where we are told to go, and we die when we are told to die.
This is here to provide insight into cas’s existence in heaven. He’s a cog in the machine. While he does have some sort of discrete identity, he is also part of a collective, and firmly knows his place within it.
He is afraid. Very afraid. Of what, I cannot say.” Castiel brushes his fingers down the handle of the blade in his chest. “Afraid of me, perhaps.”
And THIS is here to hint at cas’s relationship with dean. Cas understands some things, but he doesn’t understand the nuances. He knows what dean feels, generally, but he doesn’t understand why dean would feel that way.
“Why did you keep it, Castiel?” Uriel murmurs. As though he knows he is asking Castiel to confess a secret.
“I—“ Castiel cuts himself off and shrugs. The knife inside him shifts and grinds against the vessel’s collarbone. Like this, Castiel can almost convince himself that the sensation is not steel on mortal bone; instead, it is teeth inside him, ripping and tearing and sucking at his creature-parts and fifth-dimensional meat. “I don’t know,” Castiel says, decisively.
Obviously I have multiple reasons for writing this conversation with Uriel, but this exchange here is like. The crux. This is what the rest of the scene has been building to. Like the point is to force cas to interrogate WHY he kept that knife. What does he want from it? What does he gain? And the answer is, he doesn’t know. He isn’t familiar enough with naming his own emotions to even hazard a guess. All he knows is that it feels like dean, and he likes how it feels. Like yes babygirl refuse to think about your own desires.
For a moment, Castiel pauses. He turns his true eyes to the true Uriel, lashed to his side in Heaven; the true Uriel looks at him in turn, his eyes wary and afraid. Castiel feels cold, all along the many places where their heavenly bodies are pressed together. He wonders how many other eyes are turned towards their two infinitesimal vessels, perched at the edge of a beach millions of miles below. He wonders who they are performing for, in this little play with a humble cast of two.
And then, he brushes his grace up against the knife in his chest and finds he doesn’t care. “Well,” Castiel says, spreading his many wings, “our superiors aren’t here.”
Ok THIS. is designed specifically to cast a sort of spectre over the fic. Prior to this, it feels very intimate, right? You have cas by himself. You have cas talking to uriel. What this moment does is reminds you of the looming threat; heaven is watching everything. And if cas steps too far out of line, or goes too far off script, he WILL get lobotomized. Cas deliberately ignoring that threat speaks both to the sheer depth of his hunger and to canon events that happen later in s4. It also injects a little bit of danger and tension into the fic, which slightly changes the tone for the last scene.
Castiel cannot see his face—at some point in the night, Dean turned his face into the back of the couch, and now he lies pressed against it, as though he wants the misshapen cushions to swallow him whole.
Here, I’m setting up a thread that actually shows up in a different fic. I’m implying that dean WANTS to be swallowed whole. Their desires are complimentary.
Like this, his soul has slipped closer to the surface. Castiel finds himself captivated by its many twists and turns. He hungers for it, in a way that makes him wish his true body had a mouth with which to swallow.
We’re close to the end of the fic, so this is a more overt repetition of cas’s desires and hungers. It’s made more explicit and fleshed out. He doesn’t just want dean inside him; he wants to CONSUME dean. To swallow him whole.
And, so. Castiel watches over Dean the way he once watched Jesus of Nazareth sleep for one last time in the Garden of Gethsemane. He, too, slept fully clothed and afraid—the sandals still strapped to his feet, messy tear tracks still drying upon his face. That moment has since been memorialized in grand, blue-black paintings, a single streak of golden light haloing Christ’s somber, contemplative face.
Men will be Jesus figures. Anyways. This is about dean’s chosen status and his martyrdom. Cas finds it fascinating. Cas thinks of it as grand and important. He thinks DEAN is just as grand and important as Jesus.
Castiel wonders if this too will be memorialized in the centuries to come. If, once this story becomes gospel, some aspiring artist will paint this moment, just as painters of old have illustrated the entire arc of Christ’s life, over and over and over again. He wonders what such a painting would look like—would Robert’s house be as golden and bright as John Everett Millais imagined the humble home Christ was raised in? Or would it be transformed as the classical painters do—the grim walls replaced with delicate archways and spiraling curlicues. Castiel pictures it in detail; Dean’s blanket a lush brocade, his shirt a fine linen, open at the throat. His mouth prim in sleep, his hair curling delicately against his brow.
ok so. This is doing multiple things. First of all im setting up for @femchef’s art because it appears right after this paragraph. Second of all I’m adding another thematic element here; specifically, the question of memory, and how these events will be remembered in the future. So like. At this point, the reader knows that cas is hungry for sensation and knowledge. He’s hungry for dean. He wants to swallow dean whole. But now, cas is ALSO fantasizing about being part of deans story—a part important enough to be included in future paintings. This moment is speaking to cas’s desire to be important TO DEAN. in its infancy. This is where that budding desire to be an important person in dean’s life begins to form.
Would the Castiel in the painting be allowed to touch him? He pictures that, too; an errant, brush-stroked finger pressed gently against Dean’s bare shoulder, his lips just barely brushing the shell of Dean’s ear. He moves his own mouth up, up, until he, too, can just barely brush Dean’s ear with his own lips. It feels—Castiel can hardly stand it. It feels the same way the knife does, when he touches it.
Here, cas’s desire is sort of like. Coalescing. It isn’t just about hunger and sensation. On some level, it’s also about intimacy.
He palms the knife’s handle, inch by inch. He curls his fingers around the wood one-by-one, until his hand is wrapped around the hilt, but he still—even now, he cannot bring himself to pull it free. Instead, he wiggles it back and forth, and wishes for things he cannot have, and a mouth he will never possess.
Go hungry boy go! Become so so desperate for a single crumb of deanpussy that you can’t bring yourself to get rid of the knife he stabbed you with!!!
It leaves Castiel empty, as he was before Dean filled him so well and so thoroughly that he still craves it, even now. He—he longs, he covets. He wants to open his nonexistent maw and swallow Dean whole. He wants to take Dean from Michael—to claim Dean for himself, to take Dean’s vessel as his own and place Dean’s soul inside his innermost empty rooms and never, ever let either of them go.
And THIS. is the crux of the fic. This is what the entire thing was building to. This is how cas has interpreted his nascent desires. He’s taken this strange, new thing, and tried to fit it into his preexisting framework of understanding. He’s interpreted his hunger (or lust, or greed, or gluttony) as the simple desire to take dean as a vessel, or to be the keeper of deans soul in the afterlife. And the reason for this is because he doesn’t know how to think about it differently. He knows he wants to be full, and these are the only ways he knows how. It’s like instead of actually understanding what he wants, which is impossible, he’s simply translated it into something he DOES understand. Later, of course, his understanding of what he wants changes, but in season 4 I genuinely think this is how cas like. Thinks about his connection with dean.
After a time, the Host’s clamoring rises to a level he can no longer ignore. And so, he looks one last time—commits the Righteous Man to memory—and strokes his grace along Dean’s slumbering soul. It hisses and bites, just as it did in Hell. Castiel smiles, quiet and slow, and gently pries its metaphysical teeth free.
And once again. We return to the idea that cas LIKES when dean hurts him. He likes the intensity. Early on, he thinks it’s cute.
He leaves the knife on a nearby coffee table, the blade still red and slick with blood. He reaches out, tempted to press his palm to Dean’s cheek, but refrains before he can. And then, Castiel slowly, painstakingly reels his vessel back upwards, into Heaven. He is late for his debrief, and his superiors will have many questions.
And we end here because the implication is that this moment is when Cas first betrayed heaven for dean. Not 4x22. Not 4x16. Here. This moment. Because the truth is, cas betrayed heaven long before that betrayal became explicit. His motive here is selfish; he’s not leaving the knife because earning deans trust is part of his mission. He’s leaving the knife because cas, selfishly, wants to earn dean’s favor. He wants dean to like him. Like. This is where cas’s downfall starts.

Veins of the Upper Extremity: Part Two
Divided into two parts: Deep (running next to arteries) and Superficial (right beneath the skin). The deep veins have more valves than the superficial veins.
Deep Veins
Interosseous veins
next to interosseous arteries
anterior interosseous veins start in front of the wrist
connect to deep radial and ulnar veins
anterior interosseus veins join to posterior interosseous veins at top of forearm
Deep palmar veins
connect to deep ulnar veins on inside of hand
end in radial artery on outside of hand
join to deep radial veins by thumb
Brachial veins
one vein on each side of brachial artery
join axillary vein at bottom of subscapularis
Axillary vein
large vein
is the continuation of the basilic vein
starts at border of teres major and latissimus dorsi tendons
gets bigger as it continues upwards
ends just below clavicle, becoming subclavian vein
covered in front by pectoral muscles
partially overlaps axillary artery
connects to cephalic vein near its end
Subclavian vein
continuation of axillary vein
runs from outer end of first rib to inner end of clavicle
joins internal jugular to make innominate vein
sits on pleura
sometimes comes level to subclavian artery in neck
usually has valves an inch from its end near external jugular vein
Innominate/Brachio-cephalic veins
one on each side of neck
are joining of internal jugular veins and subclavian veins
no valves
Internal mammary veins
two for each artery
follow where artery goes
connect and end in innominate vein
Inferior thyroid veins
often three or four
start in venous plexus of thyroid body
create plexus in front of trachea behind sterno-thyroid muscles
left vein joins left innominate
right vein opens where right innominate meets superior vena cava
have valves where they connect to innominate veins
Superior intercostal veins
drain blood from intercostal spaces
right vein joins vena azygos major
left vein joins left innominate vein
Superior vena cava
gives blood to heart from upper part of body

The Sun in Leo
Leo Suns are bright and radiant! Which makes a lot of sense considering that Leo’s Guardian “planet” is the Sun. Self-expression and the recognition of their expression is a central to their identity. They know themselves through their performance and when wisely attuned, the gift of Leo is revealing that we are all performing, so why not choose what role we want to play? It’s time to write your own lines, the lion tells us. Bigger is often better in the world of Leo and they don’t always have an inner voice nagging them about “too much of a good thing.” What is that, the lion asks.
Where Leo folk fall into trouble is when they allow their pride to trip them up. When they mistake confidence for competence. Many a lion can get carried away with the need for being the center of attention that they forgo the effort it might take to earn being paid attention to in the ways they want. Sometimes Leo folk are perceived to lack emotional maturity. While there are Leo folk who do need to spend time developing themselves emotionally, many possess a child-like enthusiasm and emotional clarity that resists overcomplicating everything. If you’re in love, be in love! If you’re angry, be angry! Yet, emotionally complicated situations are a fact of life and can become confusing, aggravating, and defeating to Leo folk and their companions. Understanding that embracing complexity does not mean they will jeopardize their purity of expression is an important lesson for Leo folk to learn. Then, their theatre begins to take on the gifts of sacred expression and their stories become timeless.
Within a medical astrology perspective, Leo are one of the most inherently vital signs of the zodiac. Yet, it is very important for Leo folk to not spend all of their energy in the wildness of youth, but learn how to temper their energetic output in a way that will keep them vital until the end of their days. They are a fixed fire sign which means that they burn hot which can very easily lead to burnout. Physically, Leo folk need to be very mindful of drinking lots of fresh water to keep their inner heat from burning them up from the inside out (and prevent the all too common imbalance of dehydration). The gifts of Leo is a spirit of generosity so big that is might just change the world. Leo folk help us to connect with our innate will, our truest desires, and to find the confidence we need to actually go after our dreams.
Leo Guardian Herbs
Tumblr media
Rue (Ruta graveolens)
The name Rue is derived from the Greek rueo which means “to set free” which tells us about Rue’s ability to set us free from disease as well as magickal crossings. The traditional cimaruta charm of Italy is shaped like the Rue plant and protects against the evil eye. The herb is hot and dry, embodying the Leo qualities of Sun. Leo values emotional expression and Rue can be a helpful herb for those who struggle to express emotions that they feel are volatile, such as anger and frustration.
Rue is an herb that should be used with respect and is a step beyond some of the more accessible herbs of the western herbal tradition. It is an herb best used at low doses as higher doses can cause unpleasant side effects such as dizziness, nausea, and cramping. Rue should be used in moderation and those who are especially sensitive-skinned should be mindful of touching the fresh plant with bare skin or ingesting the herb in remedies as it can cause blistering. In general, excessive handling of the fresh plant with bare skin should be avoided. It is an herb of the Sun and it’s heat should be respected.
While it was an herb used widely in the ancient world of traditional western herbalism, its use has decline during the modern era. Yet, one of the continued uses of Rue is as an emmenagogue and anti-fertility herb. It can help to bring on menses, ease premenstrual tension, and prevent pregnancy. Rue is used widely in Latine communities as an abortifacient. The herb also has a traditional use for cancer, especially uterine cancer, which may stem from its cleansing qualities of the uterus.
Rue is also used for eyestrain and imbalances, helping sooth overworked eyes whether taken internally or topically as a an oil. Look for signs of wateriness and sensitivity. Digestive congestion, colic, and a cold digestion may be aided by Rue’s drying, warming, and stimulating qualities. It’s Sun powers also make it effective in the relief of arthritis especially when the condition is made worse during times of damp and cold.
Tumblr media
I use the herb most often in my practice in magickal charms and as a flower essence. It is an herb of protection, bringing luck, steadfast will, and the abundance of love. I also use the flower essence for helping folks return to a state of grace (one of the Rue’s folk names is Herb of Grace). It is especially useful for folks who feel like they lack support in their life and they are having to deal with all of their problems on their own. Rue can help folks who may feel paranoid that they are always under attack - the herb helps them release a victim-mentality and find their strength.
Leo Remedy Herbs
Tumblr media
Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna)
Hawthorn is heart medicine of the most nourishing variety. The herb strengthens the heart, improved blood flow, dilates the blood vessels, and increases nutrient absorption. It is an excellent herb to take after a period of illness or physical strain to protect the heart from further upset. For our lion-hearted Leo folk, Hawthorn is cooling, without dampening, helping Leo folk to return to their center. It is a calming herb, excellent for cases of attention-deficit, nervousness, and anxiety. Drink Hawthorn tea before bed in cases of insomnia caused by excess of agitating heat in the system. An added bonus, is Hawthorn’s ability to help us ride the hedge or travel purposefully in our dreams between the worlds.
As a digestive tonic, Hawthorn clears the gut of toxicity and build-up as well as helping with metabolizing of fat. Look for excess heat and fluids. The flower can be used in steams for acne and a lack of lustre in the complexion, while the berry can be used in a gargle for sore throats and bleeding gums. The herb has a long association with the Good Folk and magick within Celtic cultures. Use it in your magickal workings for trance and journey work, as well as connecting with the liminal spaces between.
Sun in Leo Flower Essence
Tumblr media
Vervain is the flower essence for Leo folk who let their enthusiasm get the best of them. They take up too much space, whether dominating conversations or trying to always take the lead, and can end up trying to convince everyone that their opinion is the best way forward. Now often their need for everyone to get on board their enthusiasm train is driven from a belief that everyone will benefit, they need to learn how to share space effectively. Vervain helps Leo folk realize that commonality of purpose is more important than everyone having the same opinion as them. The essence helps Leo folk take a step back, relax, and become a better team player.

Best vascular surgeon in Jaipur
Vascular surgery is a specialty that is part of a broader specialty also it's  an independent specialty in which vascular disease like  : -
▶ Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
▶ Carotid Artery Disease.
▶ Pulmonary Embolism.
▶ Collagen Vascular Disease.
▶ Cerebrovascular Disease.
▶ Spider Veins
- are managed by medical therapy, Non-surgical procedures, such as angioplasty, blood pressure medicines, Carotid Endarterectomy , Best vascular surgeon in Jaipur , Carotid Stenting etc.
Vascular surgery is an evolved version of general  surgery where it refined the management of just the vessels and there are no longer treating the heart or other organs. Today's vascular surgery includes open surgeries and minimally-invasive procedures and medical management of vascular diseases - unlike the previous specialties. The best vascular surgeon in Jaipur  is trained to diagnose and management of diseases affecting all parts of the vascular system .

Vascular surgery comes in two types — minimally invasive surgery and open surgery.
1 - Minimally Invasive Vascular Surgery :-
Minimally invasive surgical operation uses small incisions to carry out surgical techniques. Also called laparoscopic surgical procedure, minimally invasive surgical procedure makes use of a tiny fiber-optic device referred to as a laparoscope to carry out techniques. A laparoscope has a camera and mild at the tip. When inserted via an incision, it sends pictures to a high-definition video reveal in actual-time for surgeons to view.
Minimally invasive techniques can be very useful whilst acting vascular surgical tactics. They can permit surgeons to perform both diagnostic and therapeutic processes in methods which can be much less disturbing for patients’ bodies and minds.
👉 Types of Minimally Invasive Vascular Surgery -
Laparoscopic strategies for vascular surgical procedures are beneficial in each diagnostic and healing process. That is especially real on the subject of leg angioplasty. Sometimes blood vessels and arteries end up clogged and blood is no longer capable of wafting commonly. Surgeons use angioplasty to help clean clogged pathways inside the leg and restore herbal blood glide.
Stents and angioplasty tend to focus on certain arteries, including:
a -> Peripheral arteries
b -> Carotid arteries
c -> Renal arteries
d -> Subclavian arteries
:
2 -  Open Vascular Surgery :-
Open surgical procedure is what the majority likely imagine once they think about surgical processes. It involves being placed underneath standard anesthesia and your surgeon cutting an incision massive enough to see the structures and organs that they’ll want to function on inside the surgery.
Types of Open Vascular Surgery -
➡  Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair - Aortic aneurysms are while a bulge develops in the aorta. The aorta is extremely crucial since it’s the artery that consists of blood faraway from the heart and down into the chest and torso. If left untreated, the aneurysm can purpose the aorta to both rupture or dissect.
➡ Arterial Bypass Grafts -  Arterial bypass grafts are a way to treat arteries that have become too narrow or clogged. To fix this problem, your surgeon will address the malfunctioning artery by bypassing it. To do this, they will remove a section from a healthy blood vessel, such as one from your leg or chest, and graft it above and below the faulty section to allow blood to flow normally again.
➡ Carotid Endarterectomy - A carotid endarterectomy is performed when a patient is suffering from carotid artery disease. This disease greatly increases your risk of having a stroke, so getting treatment is essential. To perform the procedure, your surgeon will make an incision in your neck and open the carotid artery. They will then remove the blockage with stitches or a patch of artificial or vein material.

Pseudocoarctation of the aorta by  Phong Teck Lee in Journal of Clinical and Medical Images, Case Reports
Tumblr media
Introduction
Pseudocoarctation of the aorta was first described in 1951 and remains a relatively rare congenital anomaly [1]. We present a case of pseudocoarctation of the aorta which was detected on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Case Report
A 19-year-old gentleman with suspected coarctation of aorta was referred for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Twelve-lead electrocardiogram showed right bundle branch block. On clinical examination, there was a soft ejection systolic murmur in the left parasternal edge. He was asymptomatic with excellent exercise capacity. MRI was performed with Siemens Aera 1.5-Tesla scanner. The entire aorta was reconstructed with three-dimensional rendered imaging from non-contrast aortogram. The aorta appears elongated an unusually “high” aortic arch up to the level of the clavicle. This results in a large distance between the aortic arch and the pulmonary artery bifurcation. The descending aorta is mildly kinked at the level of the ligamentum arteriosum with no significant stenosis (Figure/Video). Phase contrast assessment at the level of the kink demonstrated absence of significant stenosis with a maximal velocity of 1.5 m/s. There was no evidence of collateral artery formation. The left ventricular volumes and systolic function were normal and there was no evidence of myocardial hypertrophy. These findings are consistent with a diagnosis of pseudocoarctation of the aorta.
Discussion
Pseudocoarctation of the aorta consists of elongation and kinking of the aortic arch and narrowing of the aortic isthmus without significant obstruction. The exact etiology of pseudocoarctation of the aorta is unknown. Postulated embryologic cause include failure of the compression of the third through the seventh segments of the dorsal aortic roots and the fourth arch segment [2].
Features of pseudocoarctation of the aorta are best visualized using three-dimensional reconstruction of the aorta by computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The elongation of the arch frequently produces an unusually high aortic arch in the mediastinum and increased distance between the origins of left common carotid artery and left subclavian artery [3]. The left subclavian artery also has a more caudal origin [3]. Other features include absence or only a mild degree of luminal stenosis, absence of collateral circulation and absence of left ventricular hypertrophy and ascending aortic dilatation [4]. These features are present in our case. Concomitant congenital heart lesions have been reported in association with pseudocoartation of the aorta [2]. It could also be associated with distal aneurysmal dilatation. While pseudocoarctation of the aorta is usually benign, cases of aneurysm formation and rupture have been reported [2, 3]. As such, surgical treatment is recommended for symptomatic cases, or those associated with aneurysm formation, and regular follow-up for asymptomatic patients.
This case highlights the imaging features of pseudocoarctation of the aorta. We demonstrated the utility of CMR, especially three-dimensional reconstruction imaging and phase contrast assessment in the diagnosis of pseudocoarctation of the aorta.

A CT cerebral perfusion was done in my pt who presented with stroke-like symptoms.
From Radiopaedia:
CT perfusion in ischemic stroke has become established in most centers with stroke services as an important adjunct, along with CT angiography (CTA), to conventional unenhanced CT brain imaging.
It enables differentiation of salvageable ischemic brain tissue (the penumbra) from the irrevocably damaged infarcted brain (the infarct core). This is useful when assessing a patient for treatment (thrombolysis or clot retrieval).
Although MRI is more sensitive to the early parenchymal changes of infarction (see DWI in acute stroke) its clinical application has been limited by difficulties in accessing MRI in a timely fashion in many institutions; this is especially important in this clinical setting as rapid imaging and treatment are crucial to successful intervention.
The study that was done for my pt:
CT CEREBRAL PERFUSION +VIZ.AI CT PERFUSION OF THE HEAD AND NECK WITH CT ANGIOGRAMS AND REFORMATIONS
INDICATION: Altered mental status.
COMPARISON: Noncontrast head CT the same day.
TECHNIQUE: CT Perfusion was performed with intravenous contrast. This scan was analyzed using Viz ConaCT artificial intelligence software for LVO detection. A CTA scan of the head and neck was then performed during the dynamic administration of intravenous contrast for a CT angiogram and reformations. No immediate complications occurred. Automated exposure control, adjustment of the mA and/or kV according to patient size, and use of iterative reconstruction technique was utilized. 2D and 3D rendering was performed along with MIP reformations. The North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial (NASCET) method was utilized to calculate the degree of any stenosis, which includes evaluation of the distal internal carotid artery.
FINDINGS: PERFUSION: rCBF 6s : 3 cc in the left temporal cortex.
NECK: Parotid glands: Within normal limits.
Soft tissues: Within normal limits.
Thyroid gland: Heterogeneous. No focal nodule.
Adenopathy: No significant.
Lung apices: No significant abnormality.
Upper mediastinum: No significant adenopathy.
Osseous structures: No significant abnormality.
ANGIOGRAM:
Aortic arch: No significant abnormality.
Innominate artery: No significant abnormality.
Right subclavian artery: No significant abnormality.
Left subclavian artery: No significant abnormality.
Right vertebral artery: No significant abnormality.
Left vertebral artery: No significant abnormality.
Basilar artery: No significant abnormality.
Right common carotid artery: No significant abnormality.
Right internal carotid artery: No significant abnormality.
Right external carotid artery: No significant abnormality.
Left common carotid artery: No significant abnormality.
Left internal carotid artery: No significant abnormality.
Left external carotid artery: No significant abnormality.
Right middle cerebral artery: No significant abnormality.
Right anterior cerebral artery: No significant abnormality.
Right posterior cerebral artery: No significant abnormality.
Left middle cerebral artery: No significant abnormality.
Left anterior cerebral artery: No significant abnormality.
Left posterior cerebral artery: No significant abnormality.
IMPRESSION: 1. No large vessel occlusion. 2. Perfusion software suggests a small region of ischemia in the left temporal cortex, but adjacent M1, M2, and M3 branches are patent. 3. No significant stenosis or focal occlusion evident.

Due to the short- and long-term consequences, as well as patency difficulties, treatment for subclavian artery blockage is still up for debate. We present a rare instance of bilateral internal carotid artery occlusion and coupled proximal segmental occlusion of the left subclavian artery and subclavian steal phenomenon. Depending on the severity of the stenosis, the patient may exhibit symptoms or be asymptomatic. Upper extremity claudication, vertigo, diplopia, or syncope are some of the symptoms. Read More Here
