So after doing some testing, I figured out the problem with my TS2 wasn't my CC at all.
Wildwood got a spot of the ol' hood corruption. And once I figured that out- and figured out that I did have some very old backups indeed- I was able to use Alt Sim Surgery to get 90% of the sims in the hood backed up.
The bad news: I've still got to rebuild the whole town, and not every sim made it.
The good news: Yovia, Buff Drinklots, Primevere Forester, and 90% of the rest of the kids you know and love are safe.
The even better news: you still have a solid year and a half of gameplay photos before this becomes relevant.

Junelezen day 2 - Home
"These places from which we came, to which we may never truly return. They remind of a time once vibrant, when the colors touched the sky with such grace.
They harken back to youth spent under beating sun, it's shine warming us in our days of gold.
Now all that stands here is the hollow feeling of loss. Of yesterdays long departed, embers of loves extinguished, old hopes dashed like waves against rock.
I came here to recollect, to trace back all the pieces of who I am, yet... When I have thought upon all from then to now, I cannot help but weep and wish for it all back."

There’s hope in younger days There’s warmth within the past that’s so familiar I forget just why I came here I Hope that you remember Home

ALRIGHT EVERYONE guess what insane thing I did? I made a really rough concept for if the universe of Willow got the full Star Wars-esque saga treatment. I will say it's a lot more focused on characters and general plots than themes, but for anyone who wants to see it, here it is.
The Willow Saga (chronological order)
Kymeria, movies: movie series (maybe a trilogy?) about the fall of the Kymerian Empire and the creation of the Kymerian Cuirass. Could contain all kinds of narrative parallels to the Willow (2022) show.
Elora Danan Origin Story (Movie): A movie about the origins of the myth of Elora Danan and the past Elora Danans and all that fun stuff.
Paladins of Cashmere (series): TV series about the Princess of Cashmere and how she went missing, followed by the Paladins of Cashmere trying to find her. Provides a lot of cool worldbuilding about the other kingdoms in the realm.
Lands End (movie or 3 season series, depending on importance/vibes/plot): a tv show/movie about the war leading up to the fall of Bavmorda. About Madmartigan’s time as a knight of Galladoorn. Emphasis on the Battle of Land’s End because that’s mentioned multiple times.
The Princess (movie, working title): The story of Sorsha Tanthalos, from child to queen.
Willow (1988), movie: Nelwyn farmer Willow Ufgood finds a baby in a river and embarks on a quest to protect her after learning she is Elora Danan. He teams up with rogue swordsman Madmartigan and eventually together they defeat the evil queen Bavmorda and save the realm.
Tales from the Wildwood, TV series: Follows the story of teenage Venoma Scorpia and Thraxus Boorman as the Bone Reavers establish themselves in the Wildwood and the pair seek to find the rest of General Kael’s thirteen children.
The Cuirass, movie: Madmartigan, Allagash, and Boorman on their quest to find the Kymerian Cuirass in order to prevent Elora Danan from having to save the realm alone. Also shows some of life in Tir Asleen immediately after the war. Opportunities for tiny Kit and Airk. Willow (2022), 3 season TV series: Set approximately 20 years after the original movie, Willow (2022) follows Elora Danan as she undertakes her quest to stop the Withered Crone. She is joined by washed up sorcerer Willow Ufgood, a timid prince Graydon Hastur, valiant knight Jade Claymore, criminal and rogue Thraxus Boorman, and a cocky princess Kit Tanthalos.

It’s time to revisit photographer turned novelty chandelier maker, Adam Wallacavage’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1890 brownstone, b/c it celebrates spooky season all year.
Tumblr media
Before he purchased his home, he lived in a tiny apartment across the street from famed stained glass artist Judith Schaechter. Her house was his original inspiration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From there, he graduated to making sculptural lighting, then showing at the Jonathan LeVine gallery in NYC and all over the world.
Tumblr media
Unlike Judith’s house, Adam’s was missing all the ornamental elements as it was modernized in the 1940s.  It was dirt cheap, so he didn’t have a place worth restoring but a place worth customizing.
Tumblr media
He tore down walls and rebuilt the layout similar to the original design, making molds and casting plaster and turning the place into a Victorian style freak show.
Tumblr media
After visiting the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, United Kingdom just a few months after closing on the house, he found his path to what he wanted his interior to be based on.
Tumblr media
He describes his style as a mixture of the beach towns Wildwood, New Jersey and Cape May, New Jersey.  Wildwood is known for kitschy ’50s neon and mid-century modern motels. Cape May is known for its gingerbread Victorians.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s proudest of the first room he did, which was inspired by Jules Verne’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.” It’s the room that he made the first octopus chandelier for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chandeliers are how he makes his living now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was broke when got the place, but was able to do things like bling it out in ornamental plasterwork with help from a friend who has a plaster studio and let him borrow from her extensive rubber mold collection.
Tumblr media
There’s a perfect long decal for fridge.
Tumblr media
Adam says that a backpack vacuum cleaner is the best thing he ever bought to dust the house.
Tumblr media
Adam’s advice: Don’t be afraid of messing stuff up. It can always be redone.
Tumblr media
And don’t be afraid of what people are going to think. Do it for yourself first and not for trying to impress others.
Tumblr media
Being pretentious works in what you do as well as what you don’t do that’s not yourself or true to your vision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s okay to emulate others but always give credit to those who inspired you and try to put a spin on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adam says that his home is basically a show room for his chandeliers. His studio is on the third floor as well.
Tumblr media
His biggest indulgence is the second floor greenhouse and backyard.
Tumblr media
It’s not finished or really started on yet, but the room under the greenhouse is going to be the seashell grotto room.
Tumblr media
Adam’s fabulous Victorian fish tank and goldfish.
Tumblr media
Adam’s absolute best home secret is to let your freak flag fly.
Tumblr media
If you are remodeling, Adam says to mess with what you are getting rid of, for practice.
Tumblr media
What a beautiful back garden.

for the ffxiv specbio stuff, do you headcanon the people on the First as having physically different traits from the people on the Source, or are they pretty one to one? and if so, were there any strange looks/social faux pas regarding the scions while on the First?
THIS IS REALLY INTERESTING ACTUALLY I think… that the species are all the same, mostly, but since they evolved/grew/colonized in/from different environments, there are definitely differences because of that. Like, say, dwarves not having any of the lalafells’ adaptations to sand, and instead having darkvision in their mining environments and more of a mole snout than a slit snout. Maybe being fuzzier overall. Or elves not having that split between duskwight (colorful, variant cave animal) and wildwood (forest animal). Heck there’s not a lot of elves at all, are there? Was their homeland just so concentrated that most of them were wiped? Another hard thing about this is the complete lack of knowledge we have of the regions before the Flood outside of Norvrandt! Or maybe just knowledge I have. Lol. I don’t have encyclopedia eorzea 2 or 3 just the first one… if anyone can hook me up with a First Lore Historian. I’d love to learn. Or with 50 bucks so I can grab the encyclopedia
And then, even, after the Flood, a lot of culture broke down in favor of communication and survival, so people just souped together. In short… ok. I think the First had a very fairytale vibe, so their designs should reflect that. I know drahn and galdjent have like a kingdom thing going on. There’s probably WAY less sea imagery and ocean features on roe in the first. More puppies than sea puppies, vaguely. More mountainy? Drahn I think are much more draconic than most Auri people, think fairytale dragon guys. They have the kind of customs that fairytale dragons and fae have, too, so it’s historically easy to say something odd to them and vice versa. Giants and dragons! I haven’t met a single elf except Ardbert’s friend. That’s an exaggeration but like no important npcs were elves. They seem very isolationist to me, very used to solo travel. Humes seem to have been mostly in kingdoms as well, like Ishgard, but less Catholic. They’re probably the most same. Garleans as a race of people do not exist on the First which is interesting. Ronso seem much more family-oriented, work-oriented, still cowboys, but very similar. I think the coeurl type hrothgar would be replaced with something else. Viis we know a lot about! They seem to be very similar as well, though I think just for fun for me, they’re Bigger. Like, taller, they’re isolated in a warm forest with plenty of prey and big magic energy. Viis big. Mystel I don’t know about, but they don’t SEEM to be desert cats, so I actually think. They don’t have undereye markings. Some of them have fold ears or domestic triangle cat ears rather than wild cat features. Familiar-like, not a lion pride — so they don’t have the same family structure miqote do either, it’s more like wolves where location and family are top tier. And Dwarves for sure have more mole than mouse features - thick claws on their toes and fingers, a little snoot, and very reflective eyes that are a bit sensitive to light.
As for social faux pas… I think that Miqote, to show they’re unserious or apologetic, bunt or touch the other cat, lay down or sit next to them, put their tail on the other’s tail, something physical — and Mystel will lick their lips and look away and NOT touch, because further touching is To Fight. Ari FOR SURE tried to lean on and got smacked by Kai-Shirr and then smacked him back in betrayal. It took Alphy intervention to fix that. It is also way more common for humes to grumble and growl than it is for hyur (that’s bad manners. Imagine you bumped into someone at the store and they growled at you), so there was one point where Ryne actually (quietly like a kid swearing for the first time) grrrd at a monster and thancred had a whole 20 minutes of thinking to himself wether or not this was OK feral child behavior to let her keep doing or if he should tell her not to or. Or what. What do here. Is this OK. And lastly..,,, lalafellin alcohol is pretty strong, but their beer and mead taste great so it’s a popular party drink. dwarven alcohol is INCREDIBLY strong, it contains an ingredient mildly toxic to every other race except mord. You are SUPPOSED to, however you decide to do it, last a number of mugs (if you’re a bigger race, dilute the thing with soda or juice, you might get teased but it’s what you do). Some people were not aware of this and passed out after one mug, and got pitiful beards drawn on them (Urianger’s wispy stubble was quite silly to the rest of the party)
I’d love to compile more abt the First just in general. maybe my ideas would change with more info … anyways! Thank u for letting me drop a very large text bubble :]

Notice Me, Reader! Tag
Thanks for the tag, @tabswrites!
Rules: Share 3 (or more!) small details from your WIP that you feel have gone/will go unnoticed. (You can choose whether or not to share why the detail is significant!)
I'll share some sneaky details from Tales of Wilted Flowers and Realms of Loss (:
Tales of Wilted Flowers -
Lorelai's name means "alluring enchantress", and usually a name with a meaning related to sirens that lure people to their doom. That name fits well the way the kingdom views her House, as "conniving traitors", but also has a hint of mystery that implies that not all is what it seems. (The idea for this name also came to me after listening to Loreley by Blackmore's Night)
As the title of the story would imply, many of the characters have flower motifs - some of which may appear in clothing motifs, symbolism, or actual flowers in the story. Flowers are usually tied to meanings of rebirth, hope, and something that is thriving. Wilted flowers indicate that something is amiss - perhaps their environment is sickly as well. Rylisan's flower motif is daisies. Xarian's flower motif is the nightshade. Think about that as you will (: Both have multiple meanings for the characters at hand.
When Neoma'ka is introduced she is trapped in a complicated situation. This parallels her backstory, which revolves around her being "trapped" within her family's expectations of her. It also implies that she is trapped, emotionally, by her own hands - for as long as she does not come to terms with her past.
King Tieran Kallasen's story as well as his past friendship-turned-rivalry with Arcturus Wildwood was vaguely inspired by the actual Arthurian legends. Tieran is a twisted version of King Arthur, while Arcturus is inspired by Lancelot.
Once again, the "flower" motif, but subtler: Arista Bryar's surname is a variation of the word briar - which means wild rose. Roses are innocent flowers usually hailed for their beauty, but their thorns can cause a lot of pain. As it turns out, Arista might be more thorn than flower when the story starts. I also chose her surname as "Bryar" because in Ravaryn faeries are known for having nature-inspired surnames, and she is a half-fae (vampires are faeries in this story). She is also associated with the color ember red, or blood crimson - respectively, "like her father's eyes or the rage in her heart."
Multiple character backstories in this WIP deal with the theme of being unjustly judged and shunned, being othered and cast away by other people - be it by being called a bloodthirsty aberration, a scoundrel, a dark magician, or a traitor, when that's not true. It's also a story about those characters learning to love themselves no matter what society thinks about them.
Realms of Loss:
Kassien's symbol (which is in his actual insignia in the story) is the Sea Serpent (the legendary monster). Those creatures are associated in mythology with the ungovernable power of the oceans, chaos, and the mysteries of the unknown.
When Gwain Vytris is first described in the story there's the phrase "his grey cloak frames him like the closed wings of a hawk". Hawks are birds associated with intelligence, adaptability, and freedom, while also being birds of prey capable of causing serious danger to those they hunt. It's a pretty ominous, somewhat hopeful imagery for our angry boi.
The name Drystan is a variation of Tristan, a name that means "sorrow, or one who is sorrowful". Considering Drystan's backstory in this book, I think the name is pretty accurate.
Sara Kallary's story is very much a "person vs fate" story in which she questions whether she was born destined to be a vile monster like a certain relative of hers, or if she can choose and carve out her own path and destiny.
Nesrynna is known for her unique necklace, which has an amulet that is actually a music box. This has two meanings, both are correct: 1. she chooses to look for beauty and hope in unlikely places, 2. she is stuck in the pain of her childhood, and what it could've been if nothing had gone wrong, she never let go.
Tagging - @oh-no-another-idea, @sm-writes-chaos, @steh-lar-uh-nuhs, @writernopal, @elshells, @cabbojage, @jay-avian and @rickie-the-storyteller

had this au in my mind for a while and just want to talk about it so. what if bavmorda had never been defeated?
it goes like this: it’s the battle of nockmaar. raziel is dead. so are most of the rebels. those left are putting up a good fight, but they all know they are losing. sorsha more than anyone.
she manages to convince willow and madmartigan and their army to flee, and so they do. they flee to the wildwood, picking up refugees along the way (boorman’s family among them). but so do the bone reavers.
the rebels settle in the grove with the fay (willow probably returns to the nelwyn valley to protect his village). the bone reavers settle as they do in canon.
tensions between the two groups are high for a while, but eventually sorsha is able to broker a peace, and they become close allies.
with bavmorda technically losing when she had been so close to succeeding, and with her one heir having betrayed her, her capability as ruler and as the harbinger is being questioned. so in steps hastur.
he makes a deal with the crone. he will be ruler of nockmaar if he sacrifices one of his kids to be the harbinger. he does not choose which one. the crone chooses graydon, who is the same age as elora danan.
they will one day lead the opposing armies, the crone promises. he will lead us to victory.
eighteen years later, the war is still raging. more and more kingdoms are being consumed by the wyrm, and every magical creature has no choice but to fight, no matter how weak or isolated they may be. your kingdom no longer matters, only whether you are with the wyrm or not.
elora has been raised by cherlindrea, trained to be high priestess and ruler of the fay, and to defeat the harbinger. at 18, she feels she has learned all she can where she is. recently, she has started to have strange visions of a boy. a boy who is constantly surrounded by demons. a boy that she is confident is the harbinger.
having grown up around the fay and magic, kit and airk learned magic. kit is a fire fay. she can summon the smallest flame with just a thought, and can use it to fight. she is elora’s sworn protector. she is aching to leave the grove.
jade is raised princess of the bone reavers. a warrior. a protector. a leader. and kit’s best friend/maybe lover? she is tired of staying in one place. her people need to move. need to do more than protect the grove. they need to defeat the trolls, who keep on terrorizing them and enslaving their people.
boorman has failed. a year ago, he left to look for the cuirass. a year ago, he found the cuirass. a year ago, he left madmartigan to die. he has been on the run ever since, fearing what will happen when he returns to the grove. but he knows he’ll have to pay for his actions eventually.
graydon is dying. everyday, he feels dark magic eating at him, begging to take control. everyday, he loses the fight more and more. he knows what it is — whatever darkness the crone placed in him as a child, whatever darkness will turn him into the harbinger. he is away from his father — finally — and captain of the navy. lately, he’s been having visions of a girl. a girl surrounded by fay. a girl he is pretty sure is elora danan.
one day, the wildwood’s defenses fail. the gales attack. elora is forced to flee, with kit, jade, airk and scorpia. cherlindrea is killed. elora is now empress of the fay, and she needs to gather an army.

Wild Bison Now Roam the UK for First Time in Thousands of Years
Three European bison have been released into a forest preserve in a trial attempt to help the landscape reach a more natural state
The British Isles were a very different place some 10,000 years ago. For one thing, the land mass was still connected to mainland Europe. The last ice age was ending, and glaciers were receding. And bison may have been roaming—specifically, a now-extinct species known as the steppe bison. (Even farther back, in the Pleistocene, the forest bison likely made its home in Britain.)
Now, for the first time in at least 10 millennia, there are wild bison wandering around the United Kingdom. On Sunday, the conservation organizations Wildwood Trust and Kent Wildlife Trust (KWT) teamed up to release three European Bison into a track of forest known as West Blean Woods. The bison introduction is part of a project called “Wilder Blean,” wherein the partnered charities are trying to “promote stronger habitats by restoring natural processes that are able to withstand the current environmental crisis...”

Offspring of the Wind: The Wildwood (3/3)
Okay this took longer to write than I thought it would, but it needed to feel right. So, sorry for the delay but Tanthamore week is never over in our hearts! Or in our missed deadlines!
Tanthamore Week, day 3 prompt: The Journey Home.
——————
Summary: Without knowing who she can trust in a strange and foreign kingdom, Kit takes her daughter and heads towards the only safe place she ever knew. Things get complicated when King Hastur sends men after her once they find her husband’s dead body. In a desperate attempt to survive, she seeks the help of a stranger with a dark past who promises to help her get home, but are things as they seem?
AKA
The Dark Fantasy AU
——————
“Will you embrace the light of the Eternal One? Pledge your life to our endeavor, that we might deliver this world from suffer, into his warm embrace?” The voice asks again. The walls shake around her.
“I will!” Kit feels a familiar tug towards that voice. That woman. She should know her.
“The blood of the six runs in your veins. You shall be his harbinger. Primal Priestess of the Wyrm.” Kit falls onto the floor.
