Tanthamore Week May 2023 Info (updated)
What is Tanthamore Week?
Tanthamore Week 2023 is a week-long fanwork creation celebration for the pairing Jade Claymore/Kit Tanthalos from the TV show Willow (2022), running from May 22-28, 2023. The theme is “Season 2”!
How does it work?
You create fan content aligning with one of the prompts and post it during the week! You can use the tags and AO3 collection to organise, and we will reblog/post some of the creations.
There are seven prompts, one for each day – they are general and then we have provided specific ideas for each of them. You don’t have to use any of the specific ones.
You don’t have to create something for every day! You don’t have to adhere strictly to the prompts! This is meant to be as inclusive and accessible as possible. There are no word minimums or maximums, no requirements for art size or approach, etc. You can write a long fic that hits each of the prompts, or a drabble for only one prompt – anything is welcome.
All types of fan content are welcome: art, fic, vids, fan mixes, rec lists, etc. If it’s transformative, it’s welcome!
You can add your work to the collection on AO3 here if you would like (use the "Post to Collection" button).
All content should be in some way related to Tanthamore, and to the overall theme of “Season 2”, but other than that, feel free to interpret the prompts and guidelines however you like. We are not going to police your work!
All ratings and content warnings are welcome, but please tag it appropriately (on AO3, using the Archive warnings and rating system as you please, and on Tumblr, with tags that communicate the content in a manner similar to the archive warnings.

there have been so many awesome fics so far for @tanthamoreweek ! I still have several bookmarked to read, but I wanted to share some of my favorites so far
Offspring of the Wind ( @overkill-max ) - Kit’s daughter is named Madigan? Like how perfect is that? Waiting on baited breath for the final chapter!

Okay this took longer to write than I thought it would, but it needed to feel right. So, sorry for the delay but Tanthamore week is never over in our hearts! Or in our missed deadlines!
Tanthamore Week, day 3 prompt: The Journey Home.

Summary: Without knowing who she can trust in a strange and foreign kingdom, Kit takes her daughter and heads towards the only safe place she ever knew. Things get complicated when King Hastur sends men after her once they find her husband’s dead body. In a desperate attempt to survive, she seeks the help of a stranger with a dark past who promises to help her get home, but are things as they seem?

This is an entry for Tanthamore Week 2023 Day 1 - A World of Fantasy. The title from Sufjan Steven & Angelo De Augustine's song (This Is) The Thing

They’d be mercenaries.
No, that’s not right.
They’d be more than a hired weapon following the heaviest purse. They’d offer their swords and shields to those who needed it most and take whatever reward was offered.
Yes, that’s it.
They’d live off the wilderness as they traveled between towns, hunting and gathering what they could. Making camp under the stars. Enjoying that it was just them for miles. On the cold nights they’d share a bedroll.
It would be perfect.
They’d visit the Wildwood regularly. Jade, of course, would be welcomed with raucous joy every time. Because she grew up a bone reaver.
Except that means they didn’t know each other, okay, the exact details of her backstory doesn’t matter, but she would be there more regularly. Scorpia would tease her about staying, but they’d accept that traveling around was part of who she was.
That works.
And Scorpia would look at her and think she’s a great companion for her sister. She’d have been skeptical at first, and probably make her prove herself on some absurd, dangerous test that she’d pass with flying colors. Jade would only find out about it later and be unsure who she should be mad at. Scorpia for setting it up or her for doing what she did.
She’d get Scorpia’s begrudging respect, and that, despite all odds, would develop into a real friendship. Scorpia would tease her almost as much as Jade. Maybe more.
She’d be welcomed into camp even if Jade wasn’t with her, not that there would ever be a reason they were apart. But they’d let her know the option was there, just in case.
When they weren’t a helping sword or in the Wildwood they’d enter the tournaments around the realm. And they’d win every time.
Okay, almost every time, no one was perfect.
When they win a windfall, they might stay some nights at an inn and enjoy a couple nights of luxury. The hay mattress would feel soft after sleeping on the ground for so long, and the hot bath would convince them they were royalty. When they went downstairs for a meal they didn’t have to catch or prepare someone might recognize them, but they’d only want stories of their deeds and travels.
They’d mostly be left alone because, like everyone else, they were just two weary travelers.
And maybe, they’d be able to save a princess. Enter a tournament where her hand is on the line and when they win, they set her free. It would be annoying at first, to have her travel with them as they prepared her for no longer being royalty, but she’d be a quick student. And when she departed, she’d be a lifelong friend.
There wouldn’t be a war. Just Kings and Queens making bad decisions. Bandits trying to take advantage. Bad seasons and harvests. And-
Kit’s knocked out of her daydream by the thud of her head against a metal bar. She winces and tries to rub her head, straining against the chains that attach her feet to the floor and her hands to the roof of the cage, feeling like a chained dog as she contorts her neck.
Her muscles are already burning from standing in the swaying wagon with little room for movement and she is only grateful that so far the road has been relatively smooth and flat.
This whole thing was so stupid.
She’d been mad with her mom about troop movements of all things, though it was never as simple as that with her mom. She’d stormed to Jade to complain because maybe her mom had more experience being a general but that didn’t mean that she had bad ideas.
Jade had agreed with her mom.
Albeit reluctantly, at first, but then it had turned into a whole argument (her own fault, Kit’s brain reminds her) that led to Kit walking out of the city limits to the forest and angrily throwing shurikens at a tree as she ranted to herself about how unfair everything was.
She hadn’t noticed anything was amiss until a group of men burst out of the trees. She had hit one with the shuriken she had in hand (though she was fairly sure it hadn’t been a lethal hit) before they’d knocked her down and out with the pommel of a sword.
She hadn’t stood a chance.
She should have known something was wrong. The quietness of the forest, or the footsteps on the crunchy forest floor or their commands. It wasn’t like they were quiet on the road, already toasting their success at capturing the prize.
At least they weren’t stupid enough to say capturing the princess where everyone could hear them. Or, she realized, maybe she should be hoping that they’d mess up even if it is more embarrassing when she’s rescued.
She should still be figuring out a way to escape, but after the first hour of trying to bend and reach and spit to just get the gag out of her mouth with no success she’d given up.
She was the princess that needed rescuing.
She just hoped they knew she was gone
That Jade had realized that Kit still wasn’t back yet and would look for her.
You know, hopefully not be too annoyed at Kit being a brat and leave her stewing in the forest all night. Because maybe, after standing in this cage for hours, she can reluctantly admit that maybe her mom was right. And that she’d blown up at Jade for no reason.
She sighed as her head banged against the bar again.
