Writing is one of the most challenging abilities. It calls on many abilities, from word choice, spelling, and pronunciation to more sophisticated abilities like organizing thoughts and putting out texts.  
The rules that must be observed when writing is outlined in writing mechanics. Capitalization, contractions, gerunds, participles, numbers, numerals, pronouns, technical abbreviations, acronyms, units of measurement, and punctuation are some of these norms.
The mechanics of writing refer to the technical aspects of writing, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and formatting.   
These mechanics are essential for effective communication and ensuring that written work is clear, coherent, and easily understood by the reader. Here are some key elements for the mechanics of writing:  
Grammar: Grammar deals with a language's structure and rules. It includes knowing how to use the right pronouns, sentence structure, verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and word order. Correct grammar aids in correctly communicating meaning.  
Punctuation: Punctuation markings, such as periods, commas, semicolons, and quote marks, are used to denote pauses, emphasis, and links between words and phrases, as well as to explain the meaning of sentences.  
Spelling: For effective communication, precise spelling is essential. It includes accurately displaying words and their proper letter combinations. Using dictionaries and spell-checking software can assist in ensuring precise spelling.    
Capitalization: When to employ uppercase and lowercase letters depends on capitalization rules. The beginning of phrases, proper names, titles, and other abbreviations are frequently written in capital letters.   
Formatting: A written piece's visual appearance is referred to as formatting. It considers margins, font size, line spacing, and paragraph indentation. Readability is improved by consistent and proper formatting.    
Sentence structure: To successfully communicate ideas, writing should use a variety of sentence patterns, including basic, compound, and complicated phrases. Clarity and coherence are enhanced by good sentence construction.  
Usage and style: Proper usage entails choosing the appropriate words and expressions to communicate meaning effectively. The way or voice in which a writer expresses ideas is referred to as style, and it can change based on the writing's goal, target audience, and context.  
Proofreading and editing are two different processes. Proofreading includes checking and fixing a written work for faults, while editing enhances the writing's clarity, coherence, and general quality. To create polished and error-free work, both procedures are crucial.  
Conventions and standards for how things should be set down in writing help to guarantee that what appears on the page matches what was intended to be spoken. Grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization are examples of areas that fall under the purview of mechanics of writing and conventions.

Movement of Earth  
The Earth's crust is not a solid, continuous surface but a dynamic and ever-changing mosaic of large, rigid plates known as tectonic plates. These plates are constantly in motion, drifting atop the semi-fluid asthenosphere, a layer of the Earth's mantle. This fascinating phenomenon is known as plate tectonics, and it plays a crucial role in shaping the Earth's landscape, causing earthquakes, forming mountains, and contributing to the distribution of land and oceanic features.  
Plate Tectonics  
Plate tectonics is a geological theory that revolutionized our understanding of the Earth's structure and dynamics. The theory was proposed in the mid-20th century, consolidating various evidence from geological and geophysical studies. According to this theory, the Earth's lithosphere, which is the rigid outer layer of the Earth, is divided into several large and some smaller tectonic plates. These plates move horizontally and independently of each other, causing them to interact at their boundaries.  
Types of Plate Boundaries  
The interaction of tectonic plates mainly occurs at three types of plate boundaries:  
Divergent Boundaries: At divergent boundaries, tectonic plates move away from each other. This movement leads to the upwelling of magma from the mantle, creating new crust and widening ocean basins. One of the most famous divergent boundaries is the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the Eurasian and North American plates are moving apart, causing seafloor spreading.  
Convergent Boundaries: Convergent boundaries are locations where tectonic plates move toward each other. When two plates collide, one may be forced beneath the other in a process known as subduction. Subduction zones often lead to deep ocean trenches and volcanic arcs forming. An example of a convergent boundary is the collision between the Indo-Australian Plate and the Eurasian Plate, resulting in the formation of the Himalayan mountain range.  
Transform Plate Boundaries: Tectonic plates slide past each other horizontally at transform boundaries. The movement along these boundaries is responsible for earthquakes. The San Andreas Fault in California is a well-known transform boundary where the Pacific and North American plates are sliding past each other.  
Driving Forces of Plate Tectonics  
Several factors contribute to the movement of tectonic plates. The main driving forces behind plate tectonics are:  
Mantle Convection: Heat from the Earth's interior drives convection currents in the semi-fluid asthenosphere. These currents play a significant role in pushing and dragging the overlying tectonic plates, influencing their movement.  
Slab Pull: Subduction zones at convergent boundaries involve sinking a denser tectonic plate into the mantle. The sinking slab's downward pull contributes to the plates' motion.  
Ridge Push: At divergent boundaries, the newly formed oceanic crust pushes the plates apart due to its elevated position at mid-ocean ridges.  
Result of Movement of Earth's Plate  
Tectonic plate movement causes folding and faulting of the Earth's crust, forming mountains like the Himalayas through folding and rift valleys like the East African Rift Valley through faulting. The crust's layers, called strata, result from the compression of materials eroded from pre-existing rocks. Accumulated pressure from plate movements can eventually release energy.  
Folding   
When the crust of the Earth is folded, it is strained and pushed, resulting in a variety of characteristics commonly evident when gazing at a rock face. The anticline, which is high; the syncline, which is low; and the limbs, also referred to as the "arms" of the folds, make up a fold.  
The different types of folds include: 
Monoclines, where the layers move in the same direction. 
Symmetrical folds, where both arms have the same slope. 
Asymmetric folds, where one arm has a steeper slope than the other. 
Overfolds, where the arms have slightly turned over.  
Faulting  
Faulting is a phenomenon that occurs as a result of the significant strain that the folding of layers exerts on plates. The tension or compression pressure in the fold, which can build along a fault line, results in a fracture. This defect is capable of moving both vertically and horizontally. Such a fault line is the San Andreas Fault Line in the United States.  
The three primary forms of faulting are normal faulting, reverse faulting, and rip faulting. They result from the plates' divergence, convergence, and transverse motion. In conclusion, the planet's crust is deformed and reorganized by the folding and faulting of the Earth's surface brought on by compression, tension, and shearing induced by the movement of Earth's plates.

Plate tectonics have significant implications for climate change and the evolution of life on Earth. The movement of continents affects ocean currents, which, in turn, influence climate patterns. One of the biggest advantages of online tutoring is convenience. With online tutoring, students can learn from anywhere in the world if they have access to the internet. Online tutoring eliminates the inconvenience of traveling to a tutoring center or scheduling a private tutor.
Students can sit comfortably in their own homes and learn from their own computers. Furthermore, online tutoring affords students more flexibility as they can schedule sessions outside regular schooling hours.

PSAT NMSQT

Valence Bond Theory 
Valence Bond Theory is a type of chemical bonding model that is used to predict the bonding behaviour of molecules. This theory is particularly useful when considering the specific interactions that occur between atoms and molecules, and how these interactions ultimately influence the physical and chemical properties of the compound.
In this theory, the chemical bond between atoms is formed when two or more valence electrons are shared between two atoms. The valence electrons are the electrons found in the outermost shell of the atom, and it is these electrons that are most likely to be involved in the process of bonding. 
Valence Bond Theory explains chemical bonding based on the electronic configurations of the atoms present in a molecule. The theory states that atoms share electrons by overlapping of their orbitals so that a new, hybridized orbital is formed from the original atomic orbitals.
When two atoms with parallel spins overlap with each other, the bond formed is called a sigma bond. This bond is stronger than the pi bond, which is formed by atoms with perpendicular spins. Valence Bond Theory helps us understand the bond strength, bond type, and electron distribution in a molecule. 
Postulates of Valence Bond Theory 
The theory is based on several postulates, which include: 
Atomic Orbital Overlap: Covalent bonds are formed by the overlapping of atomic orbitals from different atoms. The overlapping orbitals must have the same symmetry and overlap effectively to allow for the sharing of electrons. 
Electron Pairing: When two atomic orbitals overlap, the electrons within them pair up and occupy the resulting molecular orbital. This pairing of electrons forms a covalent bond between the atoms. 
Conservation of Orbital Symmetry: The symmetry of atomic orbitals is preserved in the process of orbital overlap. Overlapping orbitals must have the same symmetry to ensure proper overlap and bond formation. 
Hybridization: Valence Bond Theory incorporates the concept of hybridization, which suggests that atomic orbitals of different types (such as s, p, d orbitals) can mix or hybridize to form a new set of hybrid orbitals. These hybrid orbitals have specific shapes and orientations that facilitate effective overlap with other atomic orbitals. 
Resonance: Valence Bond Theory also considers the concept of resonance, which arises when a molecule can be represented by multiple Lewis structures with different arrangements of electrons. Resonance structures contribute to the overall electronic structure and bonding in the molecule. 
Types of Orbital Overlap 
Orbital overlap is a term that refers to the interaction between two or more orbitals as they merge to form a chemical bond. The types of orbital overlap are determined by the shape and orientation of the orbitals involved.
There are three main types of orbital overlap: sigma (σ), pi (π), and delta (δ). 
The first type of orbital overlap is sigma (σ) bonding, which occurs when orbitals overlap head on. Sigma bonds are the strongest type of chemical bond formed between atoms and are created by the overlap of s and p orbitals.
This type of overlap results in a linear bond with no orbital nodes, making it the strongest bond between two atoms. Sigmas bonds are the most common types of bonds found in organic chemistry and are responsible for the formation of single bonds in most organic molecules. 
The second type of orbital overlap is pi (π) bonding. P orbital overlap creates π bonds, which are formed by overlapping parallel orbitals. These orbitals have nodal planes perpendicular to the molecular axis. This means that π bonds are weaker than σ bonds because they possess only one nodal plane.
The double bond in alkenes, carbonyl groups, and aromatic compounds results from a π bond between the two atoms. Also, π bonding is responsible for the conductive properties of metals, as the electrons in metal atoms form delocalized π bonds. 
The third type of orbital overlap is delta (δ) bonding. Delta bonds are formed by the overlap of 3 or more orbitals, which can be represented using the D3h point group symmetry. Delta bonds are rare, and only occur in a few compounds such as chromium hexacarbonyl and molybdenum hexacarbonyl.
These compounds have large metal centres with many ligands coordinated to the metal atom, and the bonding is a result of a complex combination of overlapping orbitals. Delta bonds have been of limited practical importance in chemistry but are nonetheless interesting due to the unique bonding arrangement that produces the highly stable compound.

Tamalpais High School 
Tamalpais High School has a total enrollment of 1,610 students in grades 9 through 12. In California, Tam High School is placed 152nd. Unlike other schools, Tamalpais High School does not have a student body that is primarily male or female. Instead, the ratio of male to female pupils is equal. 50.4% of the population are boys, and 49.6% are females.  
Your classes should feel like they have an equal number of male and female students because the student body is often similar. Additionally, 11% of students are from low-income homes, and 32% of pupils identify as ethnic minorities. There are five high schools in the Tamalpais Union High School District. The student-to-teacher ratio is below the 20:1 state norm for California.

SAT Test Score Requirements 
The average SAT composite score is higher than the US average of 1500, at 1720 out of 2400. The SAT is taken by about 331 Tamalpais High students each year. Averaging SAT results place Tamalpais High School in the top 10% of all California high schools. 81 percent of Tamalpais High School students, to put it another way, achieved a score in the 75th percentile or better on their standardised examinations.   
The nation's top pupils are probably going to compete at the highest levels. High scorers' company is a good indicator because the SAT is an intelligence exam. Temperature is a physical quantity that describes the degree of hotness or coldness of a substance or object. It measures the average kinetic energy of the particles that make up the substance or object.
In simpler terms, temperature tells us how hot or cold something is.

The S I unit of temperature is Kelvin (K). However, it is also commonly measured in the units of degree Celsius (oC) and degrees Fahrenheit (oF). These units are interconvertible.   
The temperature on kelvin scale and Celsius scale are related as under.  
T (K) = 273 + t (oC)  
This means that the ice point   
0 oC = (273 + 0) K  
0 oC = 273 K  
And that the steam point   
100 oC = (273 + 100) K  
100 oC = 373 K  
A degree in both Kelvin and Celsius scales is the same. 
Some common temperature scales and their conversions are: 
Kelvin: K = °C + 273.15; K = (°F + 459.67) x 5/9 
Celsius: °C = K - 273.15; °C = (°F - 32) x 5/9

What is a Perpendicular Bisector?  
A perpendicular bisector is a line that intersects a given line segment at its midpoint and forms a right angle with it. In other words, it is a line that divides a line segment into two equal parts and is perpendicular to it.  
The perpendicular bisector of a line segment can be constructed using a compass and straightedge by finding the midpoint of the line segment and then constructing a line perpendicular to the line segment and passing through the midpoint.

The Perpendicular Bisector Theorem states that if a point is equidistant from the endpoints of a line segment, it lies on its perpendicular bisector. Conversely, if a point lies on the perpendicular bisector of a line segment, then it is equidistant from the segment's endpoints.  
More formally, let AB be a line segment, and let P be a point on the perpendicular bisector of AB. Then:  
PA = PB, meaning that P is equidistant from A and B.  
Conversely, if a point P is equidistant from A and B, then P lies on the perpendicular bisector of AB.  
Concurrency  
Concurrent lines, rays, or segments cross three or more rays, lines, or segments at the same location.   
The term "point of concurrency" refers to the location where the lines, rays, or segments cross.

Concurrency of Perpendicular Bisector of a Triangle  
The perpendicular bisectors of a triangle intersect at an equidistant point from the triangle's vertices.    
If DP, EP, and FP are perpendicular bisectors, then AP=BP=CP

A point P is equidistant from all the vertices of a triangle A, B, C. Find the location of P such that it is equidistant from vertices.

Solution:   
Given A, B, and C are vertices of a triangle.   
P is a point equidistant from A, B, C.   
Now we need to find the location of the P   
We use the concurrency of the perpendicular bisector theorem,   
From the theorem, we can say that, to find the point of location, we need to use perpendicular bisectors.   
First, we draw the triangle ABC.   
Now we construct the perpendicular bisector for each side using a ruler and protractor.   
Then the point of concurrency is the location of the P  
Circumcentre  
The circumcenter of a triangle is where the perpendicular bisectors of the sides of the triangle intersect. It is the center of the circumcircle, a circle that passes through all three vertices of the triangle.  
To find the circumcenter of a triangle, follow these steps: 
Draw the three sides of the triangle.  
Construct the perpendicular bisectors of any two sides of the triangle using a compass and straightedge. The point where these two perpendicular bisectors intersect is the circumcenter.  
Alternatively, you can construct the perpendicular bisectors of all three sides of the triangle. The point where all three perpendicular bisectors intersect is the circumcenter. 
The Circumcenter has some Important Properties:  
It is equidistant from the three vertices of the triangle.  
It lies on the perpendicular bisectors of all three sides of the triangle.  
The radius of the circumcircle is the distance from the circumcenter to any vertex of the triangle.
