"Hey, Lars, can you say Lah-na? Lahna!"
"Oh, Watcher, you're gonna be the death of me."

"You really think that you can mess with my best friend and get away with it?"
"Well-"
"If you don't stop flirting with Renna when she obviously doesn't want you to, they'll never find your skull."
...Locke does not take this as a credible threat.

"So, uhhhhh heyyyyyyy, sis, you're not, uhhhh, mad at me, about earlier, right?"
"Depends what you mean by 'earlier'..."
"Look, uh, I know you and Renna-"
"Of course I'm mad!"
"...ohno."

Lahna is discovering she can talk to Renna about anything, all night long. Nothing's off the table, from cloak-and-dagger stories to daydreams about the future.
Meanwhile, Locke is having a snitfit.
Someone got taller than him while he wasn't looking and he's NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT.

"So, Athol, how do you feel about dancing?"
"I like dancing.... sometimes.... but most of the time I'd rather just be with my family...."
"GRRRRRRRJFSKLFJJSFSJKF I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, LOCKE-"

Unfortunately for Locke, Renna's not having it.
"I'm cute, and pretty, and people like me. And you're a mouthbreather who spends all his time beating people up. No thank you."
"Pond Taverner isn't people!"
"Aaand you knew exactly what I meant because that's all you ever do. Go away."

Locke knows he needs to try to make the best match he can, too. It's even more critical for him than it is for Lahna- he's the eldest son, and even though he desperately does not want to inherit the chicken farm, the odds are good that he'll get it. He needs a good bride with a good dowry to help keep things stable through his lifetime.
The trouble is, no one knows who's going to inherit the chicken farm. Inheritance in Wildwood is weird compared to other countries- in Iskar, say, it's always the eldest male member of the family, and daughters can't inherit anything. But in Wildwood, each family gets to decide whether it's a patriarchy or a matriarchy, and inheritance is handled through that line. The Cuccos' farm belonged to the first Mr. Cucco, who disappeared into the night without telling Nina how his family handled these things-- so it's anyone's guess, really, how Mrs. Cucco is going to handle it.
What Locke does know is that Renna's definitely going to inherit her family's farm. So either he gets both farms to belong to the Cucco family, or he gets a spouse with the leisure to let him fuck around.
...As long has he can stay on her good side.

Lahna knows that she should be trying to court Athol Shepherd.
Her family has next to no money for dowries and two daughters. She needs to make the best match she can so that she can help her family... especially if she ever wants to get out of their cramped house that smells like chickenshit.
He's not too bright- he struggles to get through a simple conversation. But he's not cruel, and the Shepherds are yeoman farmers- unimaginably well off, to Lahna's mind. Moreover, his bright blue hair means he's a Hero, blessed by the gods to do great deeds. Any peasant lass in Wildwood would be lucky to have him, and he'll give her the time of day.
So why does courting him feel like a chore?
...Oh, I see.

Another day, another Teen Hangout on the village green after chores are done...
I'd say love is in the air, but Renna looks profoundly uninterested in him.
Matter of fact, she seems more interested in hugging her bestie, Lahna...

Nina has, after raising three kids with very little help, taken a laissez-faire approach to parenting.
This doesn't mean, however, that she neglects her kids. It just means that she doesn't sweat it too much if they haven't learnt all their toddler skills AND the nursery rhyme AND ten ranks in cooking by their child birthday. They'll learn it all eventually.
Some things, however, need a hands-on approach.

See? Lahna's fine. Just playing games with her brother.
"Should I be scared?"
"Whyever would you be scared, sister dear?"
"The last time you made that face I woke up with my braids tied to the bedposts."
"That was ONE TIME--"

Oh no the time cops
This lovely red-haired gent, whose name I cannot remember off the top of my head, has been stationed in Wildwood with his time-traveling Crown Victoria to catch anyone trying to sneak modern technology back in time.
"Let's give Queen Yovia a TANK" is a popular game for time travelers, apparently. As is "let's give this random peasant girl a shitty beater car!"
Kids out joyriding won't get more than a slap on the wrist, and thankfully for Lahna and Andi, that's exactly what they are.
We're going to see a lot more of this gentleman... though perhaps not for the reasons you'd think.
