Kurapika’s crush is normally very sweet and maternal, sure, but there’s something about seeing her absolutely lose it on someone that does something to him. Especially if it’s on one or both of the kid’s’ behalves.

She’s got Gon and Killua pulled behind her as she’s glaring Hisoka or Illumi down, pointing a finger into his chest as she reams him out. She’s threatening to end his whole entire bloodline right then and there, and everyone can feel a menacing aura coming off of her. Who cares if they can kill her right then and there? NO ONE messes with her loved ones.

And then as soon as they leave it’s like a switch goes off and she’s back to her worried self, making sure the kids are okay, how she’ll always look out for them.

If Kurapika was crushing before, he’s completely head over heels now.

The four of you were at the park, waiting for Leorio to meet up with you so you could all visit an aquarium together.

As usual, Killua and Gon were chasing each other around, playing like kids do. You and Kurapika sat on a bench, chatting about how you’ve been doing.

He’d just returned for a mission, so after the aquarium he’d be crashing at your place, something that had become so common that Kurapika had his own room, decorated and everything.

Kurapika’s hand is on your thigh as you talk, something you had noticed, but hadn’t registered as anything other than a friendly touch. He’d built up a lot of courage to do that, so he’s glad you don’t instantly push him off.

As your attention was taken up by your cute friend, you hadn’t noticed that another person had walked up to Gon and Killua until you could feel his aura, even from 30 feet away.

“Kurapika, hold my purse.”

You plopped the bag into his lap and leaped up, storming over to the boys. The man blinks before following behind you, holding onto your purse as asked.

Hisoka, the bane of your existence, had approached your boys, looking them up and down with his creepy smile. Before Kurapika could stop you, you had pushed yourself in between them, pushing him back and pressing a finger into his chest.

“I swear to GOD if you don’t step off my kids I will end your fucking life right now. You look at them like that again and I will shove my foot so far up your ass you’ll be tasting my sneakers for the next two weeks, you fucking creep!”

You pushed his shoulders for good measure, the magician looking down at you with a smile that was a bit too excited for your tastes.

Kurapikas face heats up as you usher the two behind you, your eyes burning holes into the man. The two boys do as you say, Killua not wanting to make the situation any worse, and Gon knowing that arguing with you would only end in you actually fighting Hisoka.

“Oh (Name), what a pleasure. Are you here to fight me in their p-“

Hisoka isn’t able to finish his sentence, as Kurapika is standing right behind you, his eyes narrowing at Hisoka. The magician’s smile widens, but he backs off and is gone before you could blink.

“Ugh he gives me the creeps.”

(Name) turns to the two, crouching down and pulling them into a hug. “I’m so sorry I didn’t get there sooner, guys. If that freak even touches you, I’ll kill him, okay? Let’s go get some ice cream.”

The two boys are a bit confused, but follow behind you at the promise of ice cream. Kurapika watches you lead them out of the park, your eyes scanning the perimeter to make sure Hisoka wasn’t anywhere near.

He sent Leorio a quick text saying their meeting place was changing, trying to keep his thumping heart quiet. You were always so soft and kind, giving out affection easily, but when it came to the safety of Gon and Killua, you would turn into a rabid animal, and QUICK.

He was really beginning to fall in love with you.

When you all finally do get to the aquarium, he buys you several fish themed plushes.

“All for you, mama bear.”

The nickname sticks, and whenever your “Gon and Killua in danger” meters goes off, Kurapika cheers you on from close behind, only stepping in if he has to.

After all, he finds your more feisty side attractive, loving how protective you are. The way you hug and spoil the two boys makes him yearn for you more than before.

Part of him wants it to be him you’re fussing over, but another part of him just enjoys watching you be so motherly. It’s cute, so much so that he wants to hold you close and pepper your face in kisses and tell you how much of a sweetheart you are.

You’ll be a great mother to his children one day, he’s sure of it. He already wanted a big family, and now he’s planning on when to buy a house and get a ring on your finger.

i feel like you are one of the only people ive seen that doesnt immediately believe gon fell in love with killua in the hunter exam arc. i feel like it's dismissive of his character, it bothers me. what are your thoughts?

Hi! Sorry for taking so long answering! I wanted to write a good answer to this because I do actually have a lot of thoughts about it, so thank you for the ask! This ended up really long and as more of an analysis on their relationship in general… I want to preface this by saying that everything in this post is simply my interpretation of the characters, and that it’s only one interpretation of many. Just because how someone else interprets their relationship is different from mine doesn’t mean I think they’re wrong, it just means we see them differently! If you read this post, I hope you are able to see my point of view!

Although Killugon is one of my favourite ships ever, introducing romantic feelings so early into their dynamic makes their relationship feel less meaningful to me. I think that their friendship is more narratively important than their romance — and I think that both of them would be okay with the other not returning their feelings because being together is more important to them than being together romantically.

One of the things that makes their relationship so special is their friendship!! Their friendship is the foundation of their relationship, and the romance exists on top of it, not before it. Although I don’t think that romantic feelings would necessarily change their motivations and actions, I do think that it would alter how the audience would perceive them! And when we look at their actions through a romantic lens, it changes how we view their motivations.

For example, to me, the reason Killua approached Gon at the beginning of the Hunter Exam and wanted to become friends with him isn’t because he had a crush on him at first sight, but because he wants to have a friend his age and to feel like a kid. Even if it’s that he developed a crush on him later in the exam, I think that the idea of him already having been attracted to Gon or even in love with him during the Hunter Exam takes away from the importance of friendship to Killua, since the climax of Killua’s character in this arc is when he declares that he just wants to be friends with Gon when he feels like he can’t even have that.

I don’t think Killua really thought that anyone would be willing to confront his family for him because that’s literally an insane thing to do?? But Gon did it!! And I think that Gon being that insane and willing to risk his life for Killua is what really dragged him out of the darkness and gave him the devotion to be insane right back at him.

On the other hand, with Gon, I feel like, when viewed through a romantic lens, his motivation during the Zoldyck Family Arc typically becomes that he’s going after Killua because he’s already developed feelings for him in the Hunter Exam Arc, which as you may have guessed, I don’t agree with. To me, that was something he’d have done for any of his friends — if Kurapika or Leorio suddenly started acting strangely and had run off when it seemed clear to Gon that they didn’t want to leave, I think he’d have chased after them, too.

We know that Gon is the type of person who would even risk his life to try to save someone he barely knows (if he likes them), like on the boat on the way to the Hunter Exam! And if I’m being completely honest, I don’t think Killua was even a particularly special friend to Gon until partway through Heaven’s Arena… If Killua hadn’t followed him and they didn’t speak ever again, Killua would’ve just been someone cool that he’d met and that he would no longer think about, and I definitely don’t think he had any romantic feelings for him by then.

That’s not to say that Killua wasn’t someone he considered a friend, just that I think that, at the time, to Gon, it was like when you make a friend at summer camp and then you lose contact as soon as you part ways. And while to Killua, Gon’s actions during Zoldyck Family Arc gave him this unpayable debt and made Killua extremely devoted to Gon, I don’t think it meant that much to Gon because again, I think this is something that he’d have done for any of his friends. However, by the end of Heaven’s Arena, I do think Killua has become someone who is special to Gon — on Whale Island, Gon tells Killua that he’s his first friend his age, and more than that, he’s someone that he wants to stay with.

In that same scene, they tell each other that they’re their first friend (their age). To me, this is something that informs so much of their dynamic — they don’t know what being friends with someone “normally” looks like, which is part of why they’re so insane!! And because of this, it’s important to me that there is at least a small period of time before this where that’s all they were — friends, no romantic feelings involved.

Their insanity extends to romance, but is not because of it — their friendship is the most important part of their relationship. This is why even during the needle scene, where I feel like I can say that I definitely think that Killua has feelings for Gon at this point (his reactions during the “it has to be Killua scene,” the “Gon, you are light scene,” etc.), the emphasis is on how Gon is precious to him because he’s his friend, even though he is probably in love with him.

That friendship foundation is so important to how I see Gon and Killua and honestly, beyond the whole “viewing their actions through a romantic lens changes how we perceive them” thing, I just… don’t see either of them as being in love by the end of the Hunter Exam! These reasons are why it’s important to how I interpret their characters for there to be a period of time where their feelings are purely platonic.

Also, as an add-on, personally, I think that there’s a chance that Gon doesn’t return Killua’s feelings in canon even at their separation since nothing that he’s done, said, or thought has felt as explicitly romantic in nature as Killua. BUT I really like the idea of Gon pining for Killua on Whale Island during their separation, haha. The earliest I can conceive of when Gon starts developing feelings for Killua is Greed Island and a lot of it has to do with the shift in their dynamic — it’s when Gon starts really saying things to demonstrate his appreciation of Killua!!

HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean I perceive his actions as romantic in nature from his perspective. For example, while “it has to be Killua” is a romantic line, I don’t think Gon said it with romantic intent (nor that he’d be aware of them yet if he did have them)! I think that that was more for Killua, as well as planting the seeds in the reader’s mind for their romance, rather than a confession from Gon. Plus, imagine if he’d confessed his feelings for Killua to TSEZGUERRA instead of Killua when Killua is RIGHT THERE…

The other reason why Greed Island is the time where I think Gon is most likely to have developed feelings for Killua is because I really don’t think he was focusing on Killua in the same way in Chimera Ant Arc and it’d be a strange point in their relationship for romantic feelings to develop to me… I can’t imagine any of the moments in Chimera Ant Arc as being one where Gon would have developed feelings for Killua, or where he would have realized them. I like the idea that his realization happens sometime either during or after the separation the most!

On the other hand, I think that Killua probably had feelings for Gon by the start of Greed Island and realized them either during the dodgeball match or the “Gon, you are light” scene because they had the most romantic undertones to me from Killua’s side :) and I think that Killua could have developed them at any point after the Zoldyck Family Arc.

I think that the way that their relationship develops is so beautiful and subtle that the romance ultimately feels very ambiguous. I don’t think that there is one specific point where we can say that either of them developed or realized any romantic feelings for each other definitively, and I don’t think there are any ideas that are necessarily wrong about when either happened, just ones that don’t align with each other! There are only different interpretations and ones that don’t align with each other and this post is only representative of my personal interpretation :) I hope this answered your question, Anon! And thank you to anyone who was willing to read the entirety of this post. It ended up much, much longer (and perhaps, much, much, more off-topic from the original question) than I expected, haha!

Hi again! I've had this thought in terms of hxh meta that I personally have not seen discussed, so I'm gonna dump it here for you! There's an underlying theme I've noticed of characters throughout the series being one that lost their other halves. Like, most obvious, Leorio and Kurapika lost their childhood best friends. Melody lost her friend to the devil's music. We see Nobunaga lose Uvogin, and so on. So Killua saving Gon instead of letting him die after CAA seems to be a "breaking the cycle" so to speak, although I'm not sure what that would even mean! Nothing much to say besides those details I've noticed, but I wanted to know if you had thoughts? Or perhaps it's just an interesting background detail that is up in the air in terms of being significant?

Hello, thank you so much for sending an ask again! I've put some thought into this topic as well, so I'm happy you brought this up! How I'm answering this is both somewhat abstract and far-reaching in the series so it's a little difficult to summarize and express simply, but I hope you and others might get some meaning out of it!

I strongly believe that one of HxH's great overarching themes is the transformational power of love and how it grants people second chances in life. In this post I'm referring to love in a broader sense, not just romantic love, as of course many different types of love are portrayed and have deep importance in HxH. We see the theme of transformative love in so many different relationships and instances that it's difficult to even summarize them--a few examples are Gon and Killua, Meruem and Komugi, Meruem and his Royal Guard, Ging and Kite, Killua and Ikalgo, even in less major character pairs like Ging and Razor (Razor: "Ging taught me it took only one person, one person in the entire world who will trust you, to save you.") and Kite and Koala, but that's only scraping the surface. I reblogged a previous wonderful meta that pointed out the domino effect of Killua's act of kindness towards Ikalgo, which ended up changing the ultimate trajectory of humanity's war against the Chimera Ants. This is a great example of this theme in action!

But of course, while meeting and loving someone can transform that person's whole life, so also can losing someone significant. It can set someone on a completely different life track than they would have been on had they not lost them--Kurapika, Leorio, Senritsu, the Phantom Troupe (especially with their flashback in recent chapters), Gon and Kite, Kacho and Fugetsu (though this hasn't played out all the way yet) come to mind, but there are many more throughout the series as well. Not all of the losses that fit into this are someone losing their other half/most important person, but there's a solid enough percentage that it certainly seems to be a trend Togashi is establishing and exploring.

It's difficult to explore one of these themes in depth and with honesty without the other--love happens, loss of loved ones happens, both are deeply transformative, and both can ultimately be placed under the broader umbrella of the transformative power of love. After all, if losing a person causes someone's entire life path to change, chances are they loved them a great deal and the force behind the change that occurs in their life is the love and grief they still feel after the loss.

HxH has many tragic elements and Togashi certainly doesn't shy away from the heart-wrenching and long-lasting results of loss, but I think it's fair to say from the 400 chapters we have so far that HxH's themes are not ultimately tragic and hopeless on this topic by any means. In HxH:

Death is not always insurmountable, i.e., Kite, the Chimera Ants in general

The life path one ends up on after a major loss need not be a tragic one, i.e. Leorio deciding to be a doctor and help children in poverty as a result of losing his friend

Death in itself can be an act of love, i.e. Meruem and Komugi, Netero and humanity

Even if one ends up on a dark path as a result of loss, that doesn't mean they can't be saved by someone else's love for them, i.e., Gon and Killua, this could also end up being the trajectory for Kurapika and Leorio potentially?

With Gon and Killua, their whole relationship is based on them transforming each other and giving each other second chances:

Gon saving Killua simply by not judging him, befriending him, and showing him another life path

Gon retrieving Killua from the Zoldyck family when Killua's resolve broke down because of Illumi

Killua pulling the needle of out of his head out of sheer love for and desire to protect Gon

And of course Killua not allowing Gon to die, simultaneously saving him and transforming Alluka's life.

(And Killua's ability to save and help Alluka is of course, a direct result of the kindness Gon extended to Killua and the love Killua has for Gon.)

There's no way to know for certain what will happen in their future, but I definitely think their relationship has one more transformation in it at least, in the form of a reunion and reconciliation.

So, in summary, I think these themes of someone losing a person who was their other half and how one continues to live after that are another way of exploring the broader theme of what it means to love someone and be transformed by meeting them, which I see as a primary theme of HxH. I also think some of these relationships are intended to be comparisons to or foils of Gon and Killua's relationship in a sense (especially Kurapika and Pairo and Kacho and Fugetsu, but others as well), expanding on the themes of their relationship and how a love that deep affects people, both in beautiful and in deeply painful ways.

My chest constricted as I felt my body tingle! Why on earth do people reach to conclusions about me so quick. Does words and rumors hold so much power that the authenticity I show in my conduct and behavior just gets washed away. Is the jealousy and hatred directed towards me so powerful that people get blinded to even consider my honesty. Tears pricked my eyes I felt powerless. I had lost everything, in a blink of an eye my dreams were shattered my heart was broken, my own lack of consistency and enough strength made me lose even the things I had.

Even if u went back in time I would have probably did the same mistake as the burden was too much for me to bear but! This lonely heart of mine craves to be seen for real! To be understood to be loved! Why oh why do I have to be dragged into the drama and hatred when I am gone, lost hiding somewhere under a shell to protect this fragile heart! Taking deep breath I close my eyes. There I feel an embrace that answers all.

It was non other than him who's strong arms held me tightly around my waist his breath warming my neck as he peppered kisses all over. “ no matter what I love you! I am here and I will not let them near you ever again “ he whispers. I turn around to face him and he instantly cradles my face in his palms. “ aww my little cute baby don't worry I am never going to leave you ok? It's a promise “ he kisses my forehead my eye lids my tip of nose and my lips. A wave of goosebumps hit me to stop myself form bailing my eyes out. His arms tug me to the bed and he cuddles me directly into his solid chest.

I am still trembling, I know he does love me a lot but I am scared, scared to be left alone, scared to be used, scared to be hated and sacred to hand over my heart to him, many came saying the same thing “I ain't gonna leave you, you are beautiful, I like you, I lovevyou, but it was only a matter of time, a single rumor, a single perspective away for them to completely go back on their words. Also to the fact I didn't want to be the one doting over an emotion less block either, someone who didn't value me at all who didn't harbour feelings for me and simply bask under the love I poured until i was drained dry while i was constantly made realize how pathetic ugly and worthless i was . Life didn't only throw stones at me it literally plunged me into the sea of decite, lies, back luck, despair and heartbreak. This made me trust no other soul but myself which was burdening. Finally nw that he was here, I.. Know now he will always.. always love me.

Tear that I had been holding soo much now trickle down from my face he kisses those tears away running his fingers through my hair he says “ shhh, it's ok love, I know you are great you always work hard to be better, you have not said bad about others don't even harbor dark emotions for others, though you don't deserve hate, I don't know myself why they do it, but no matter what I am always going to be by your side loving you ,protecting you like your shield, I won't leave and I will not even let you leave, I need you babe, because you are my world !” those words those words were what I needed! I didnt want to be a burden to anyone but I was desperately looking out for a person at least a single person whom I could confine to. I burts into a stream of tears while he wipes them ever so softly. “ I love you I love you so so much so please don't ever leaveme ok? Please I beg you, if you ever leave my heart wont survive !” finally letting those pathetic words leave my mouth I gaze at the expectantly.

He chuckled, “ haha yes yes definitely even if you fight or push me I will pull you soo tight and shower you will so much love that you can't ever leave me “ . I giggled a little “ well I ain't that pretty and all nor I have a good body! I ain't that great in brains depart either! Do you regret?” still not so confident in myself I ask him “what are you talking about! I love you with all my heart and you are so so beautiful in my eyes you are multi talented and that perfect for me no body I have seen is as bright and lovely as you! You are my cute little baby how can I leave you or even regret! You are the best thing in my life, your presence gives me strength and you have always helped me taken care of me loved me no matter what world said me and accepted and understood me you stood up for me so I can't ask for anything more love! I love you and only you !”

Finally the heavy feeling , wave of anxious thoughts and emotions leave my body as his warmth and kisses lulls me to sleep while he pulls a blanket over our bodies! Forever and always will I bask in the imaginary warmth of my comfort character unless one day it becomes real if i meet the one i could trust, until then I will cherish this warmth even if it's only made up in my head !

Umm.. hello. So, I was wondering if I could request an emergency ask? So, I have to explain basically cuz of ask character limit, but essentially I break down completely every little while and loose my emotions till they come back and launch me into my next break down. Losing my emotions is my brains why if “protecting me “ from my problems. So I was wondering if I could request head cannons for how the main hxh characters would help me during an emotional rest (what I call the break downs)?

CW BELOW THE CUT: Emotional drainage

𝐿𝑒𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑜 𝑃𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑘𝑛𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡

Leorio is a very busy guy, but he always knows whenever you’re experiencing your cooldown periods.

He’s always been big on quality time; simply being in your presence was enough to keep him happy.

So when your best friend had invited you over, and you turned him down, he immediately knew something was off.

That being said, Leorio made it his goal to assure you that you were loved and appreciated.

He went to the store to make you a little “care package”.

It wasn’t the best thing in the world, but it was the thought that counted.

He grabbed some of your favorite drinks, a few bags of microwave popcorn, a small stuffed animal he found on sale, and a move from the bargain bin.

Leorio then would arrive at your home to drop off the package. If you weren’t up for a guest, he left it at the door and texted you to wish you well. If you were?

Oh buddy he’s gonna give you the best visit ever.

He first checked to see how you were feeling, offering the best words he could at your reply.

After that, he popped the popcorn and turned the movie on. “I’ve never seen this one, but I feel like it’ll be an adventure for us to take on!”

When the popcorn was all eaten, he would pull you close to him and hold you in his arms. “I hope you’re feeling at all better (Y/N). Please tell me if you need anything.”

Without anymore need for words, Leorio would run his fingers through your hair, trying to relax you as much as he could.

If by the grace of the gods you fell asleep, he would place you on the couch to let you rest. Afterward, he’d begin to tidy up your living space.

He would wash dishes, sweep and mop the floor, clean off countertops. Etc.

Leorio just wants to make sure that you are as relaxed and at peace as possible during these times. He thinks that the more relaxed you are, the quicker you’re out of it.

He may not be right, but you always appreciate his help.

𝐾𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑝𝑖𝑘𝑎 𝐾𝑢𝑟𝑡𝑎

Kurapika hates how much his job interferes with his personal life.

Regardless of that though, he always tells Nostrade and his co-workers when he needs a day off.

He doesn’t do it often, but the only time he does so is when you need his help.

When you entered the breakdown, Kurapika recieved a quick text from you. It’s contents only being “it happened again.”

He immediately notified Nostrade and went home for the day. “Are you in a place for me to see you?”

If you tell him no, he anxiously awaits for you to be ready for visitors. He wants nothing more than to assure your health and well-being, so he isn’t very good at waiting.

If you tell him yes, he’s absolutely hightailing it to where you live. He doesn’t come prepared with anything but himself.

When he arrived at your home, the first thing Kurapika did was start up your stove and make you a meal. You had always sworn he was a good cook, so he made sure to abuse that fact right now.

He figured that at the very least, if he could get you to eat something, he’d succeeded in helping you. He made you your favorite dish, bringing it to you in bed.

He helped you to sit up and eat. Even if you weren’t in the mood to do so, he urged you to have as many bites to match how old you were.

After a quick meal, he laid with you in bed and held you close. “I truly hope that you can take any sort of comfort in my presence and help. I want you to feel better as soon as possible.”

Kurapika truly can’t bear to see you in such a state, so he takes it upon himself to try and make you better as soon as he can.

𝐾𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑢𝑎 𝑍𝑜𝑙𝑑𝑦𝑐𝑘

I can’t say that Killua would exactly understand, but he would absolutely try his best to help.

When you refused his offer to have a picnic with Gon, he wondered if you were upset with them.

So he did what any good friend would do: he made you some cookies.

You had told him your favorite kind of cookie ages ago, but he remembers everything important about you. Yes, he finds even your cookie preferences important.

He knocked on the door of your home, waiting for you to see him. When you answered, you looked disheveled. This instantly sprouted the boy’s concern.

Regardless of your state, you invited him inside and sat down with him.

“Is something wrong? Do I need to kill someone for you?” He was instantly checking in on you, worried so deeply about your mental state.

When you explain to him what had happened, he didn’t really intake it at first. It took him a while to understand.

When he finally registered what you were going through, he offered to hang out with you for the day. He wanted to keep your mind clear, so he mainly offered to play video games and make random treats with you.

In the end, Killua hoped that he could provide any form of relief for you during this time.

Oh Gon. Sweet little guy.

He would not understand in the beginning,

Like at all.

When you told him that you couldn’t see him today because you weren’t feeling too well, he rushed to the pharmacy to get you some cold medicine.

He knocked vigorously on your door, face full of worry. “You told me that you weren’t feeling good so I brought you some medicine!”

You chuckled dryly and invited him inside. You explained to him that it wasn’t that kind of sick, but your mind was keeping you safe from anything that was troubling you.

Gon wouldn’t really know or understand what you told him, but he opted to keep you company.

He would sit on the couch with you, kicking his legs back and forth as he explained all of his most recent adventures as a hunter.

He would also try to cook you dinner. Emphasis on try. After failing, he’d quickly order food for the two of you. He wanted to make sure that you had something to eat over everything.

Aunt Mito always told him that the best way to help a sad friend is to make sure they’ve eaten. So Gon does just that.

He also would watch movies with you. He’s seen a whole bunch of classic movies, so he offers to watch a few of them with you. He’s more than thrilled when you express that you enjoyed one.

Gon wants to make sure that you still have a good time despite being in a cool-off state. He’ll go to kingdom come just to make sure of that.

hunter x hunter thoughts

i have not been able to stop thinking about hunter x hunter since i watched episodes 19-21 and i need to put some thoughts somewhere so here they are

spoilers under the cut for hxh (2011) episodes 19-21!

genuinely i have a lot of respect for hanzo and i really like him a lot as a character. this is absolutely not what i was thinking while i watched episode 19 (i was thinking "stop hurting my boy!") but after thinking about it more, hanzo kinda fucking rules. and i love his business cards

anyway i am SO glad that we got to see this matchup between gon and hanzo!!

i think that the gon vs hanzo fight features probably the two most strong-willed and stubborn of the applicants - obviously we know that killua is uh. the opposite (love you killua) but despite leorio and kurapika both being imo pretty strong-willed, they both would have used their brains more (which gon is sometimes incapable of doing it seems) and been like “well there’s other rounds that will probably be easier, i don’t have to win this one”

also kurapika probably assumed that that would happen in his fight with hisoka? or at least i would have assumed that if i was kurapika i guess. kurapika can absolutely fight, but hisoka is also hisoka. like sure i'll fight hisoka but if i lose against him i just have to fight bodoro later which shouldn't be as bad

SIDEBAR: WHAT THE FUCK DID HISOKA WHISPER TO KURAPIKA. like is it some sort of thing like hisoka wanting to make sure kurapika passes the exam? if so is that because of kurapika himself? or because of kurapika’s friendship with gon? either way i still don’t know what he’d SAY here!

anyway i suppose i don’t know where i’d put hisoka (or fucking. illumi?????) on that list of who is the strongest mentally - like the two of them feel like they’d be at the top but for some reason i can’t put either one of them there yet, i feel like i need to know more about them and their weaknesses, i guess, because surely they must also have those, before I can really figure out where they’d go. like idk i think if either had to fight hanzo they both seem like they’d just let hanzo win

also we still don’t know exactly what’s up with their walkie-talkies???? and like. their whole deal i guess????

also just. “here’s my email!” and having The Internet and then also getting fucking. stuck in traffic at the end??? WHAT KIND OF WORLD ARE WE IN. jarring. anyway. also kurapika's "this reminds me of the hunter exam :)" when gon decides they should run to the airport is very cute

OH ALSO. a bit of characterization for leorio that i love is that he doesn’t want to fight bodoro until bodoro has had some time to recover from his fight with hisoka and i think that’s very honorable and also very sweet. i love leorio <3

part of me wishes that we could have seen leorio actually fight, especially since we don't often see leorio being really good at stuff, but it was nice to hear later on that the examiners thought that leorio had the advantage against bodoro (despite leorio insisting on postponing the match so bodoro could recover)

lastly. do i have any killua thoughts. YES. of course! they are just not as well-phrased. killua you silly goose gon is already your friend!!! also i need to give killua a hug and also i need to destroy illumi. and i cannot wait until we get to see more of killua's family it's gonna be fascinating !

also. gon just fucking straight up broke illumi's arm! a nice reminder that yes gon CAN throw down

Headcanons about the Main Four + Y/N (afab)

I just wanted to preface that this is just my Headcanons and all of this is for fun! If the characters seem ooc mind your buisness and let me live my delulu life. j/

Also for after having a convo with a friend of mine Y/N is gonna be specified at the top of post if their female, male or gender neutral presenting! Also I know Y/N is suppose to be a self insert but I lover writing personalities so heres some head canons that I have for her!

Kurapika

Always somehow smells like rain water and eucalyptus

Though he's tried to preserve as much of the traditions and customs of the kurta clan, he's slowly losing it as he goes deeper and deeper his attempt to avenge them.

Keeps a diary but is never consistent with it (sounds like his friendships)

Has the biggest rbf ever and no one is brave enough to point it out.

Absolutely despised fast food, would only eat it if it was the only option for him.

Has never kissed anyone on the lips in his life and most likely will never (sorry guys)

Has the best skin out of the whole group, he doesn't even do much its literally water and face wash

According to him his phone doesn't work, so he doesn't have Spotify to stream new artist (pls call your friend back). I do believe that he would listen to jazz and folk music.

Says he's above petty shit talking but once you get him going, he doesn't stop.

Up until he started wearing suits for his body guard job he use to hand sew his clothes.

Constantly forgets to get hair cuts and gets annoyed when his hair covers his face.

Doesn't respond to texts or calls. In the groupchat he just reads the messages and its rare that he shows up to the group hangouts

Leorio

Has a consistent smell of old spice and axe body spray

Has a thing against germs so he always has hand sanitizer on hand for whenever and wherever

Needs to be able to read something to learn it, thats why learning nen was hard for him. (apparently writing down knowelege is sacrilege in the hxh universe but whatever)

Hates modern art with a passion, all he sees are splotches of paint on a canvas with an overpriced tag attached to it.

I hate to say is girls, but he was not a feminist until Y/N beat the shit out of him for saying some bs analogy about locks and keys (if yk im sorry that yk). Would have definitly listened to one of those alpha male podcast. Kurapika almost broke his arm trying to hold Y/N back.

Has kissed one girl in his life, but it was BAD like real bad. He kept doing the kissy face (yk what I'm talking about) and gave the poor thing the ick.

Owns a planner yet never uses it.

Music taste is that of a middle aged father: Eagles, Alice Cooper, Chicago, Radio Head

The best gift giver and honestly the most thoughtful when it comes to his friends.

He'll listen to everyones problems. Honestly such a dad.

Biggest gossip, cannot shut his mouth to save his life

Killua

Wants to learn how to surf so bad but doesn't have the time

Y/N gave him a fidget spinner as a joke for his birthday, but he ended up loving it.

Only texts in the groupchat via meme reactions. Responds for both Gon and him because they're always together. Either way Leorio is just happy that someone is responding.

Is so judgmental on what you wear.

Thinks he's cool and edgy for listening to green day and panic! at the disco but really its what every twelve year old boy does.

Met Y/N before the rest of the group so now she's #number1trustedadult. This has caused her a lot of problems with the Zoldyck family, especially with Illumi.

Tried flirting with a girl once but in twelve year old boy fashion he ended up accidentally insulting her. He hasn't attempted to talk to a girl ever since.

Has ice cold skin, like touching it is like touching a corpse thats been stuck in the freezer

Bought purple shampoo for his hair because he noticed that the hard water in most places was discoloring his white hair.

Illumi has been blocked on everything except email, so every once in awhile he'll get random emails from Illumi's spam account.

Gon

Our sweet boy probably smells like salt water and wet forest

Has a wildlife analogy or story for every occasion

Killua has been trying to get him to change outfits, but he absolutely refuses to go into a department store after Aunt Mito lost him in one when he was younger.

Will eat absolutely anything edible.

Has a collection of stuffed animals from everywhere he and Killua have been.

He use to feed all the cats on the island. It gotten so bad that all the rodents on the island are nearly extinct because he's been keeping hundreds of felines alive.

The best swimmer out of everyone.

Does not have a specific type of music he likes but Killua got him to listen to the Weekend and they've bonded over that.

When he was younger he really wanted younger siblings because there weren't many kids on the island.

Has accidentally gotten high trying to eat a wild psychoactive plant on accident

Forgets he has a phone most of the time and when he texts back its mostly in emoji

Y/N

She probably smells like lemons and ink (you'll learn eventually)

A GIRLS GIRL (author would write her with the other female characters, however I feel like Y/N would have beef with them due to moral reason)

Like probably has thrown hands with Illumi in multiple occasions for saying that she would make a great Zoldyck house wife.

Really good at puzzles and anagrams.

Horrendously bad at math. Give her a problem more advanced than arithmetic and she's done for.

Has Aunt Mito on speed dial.

During the hunters exam she was paired up with Hisoka during the tower phase and lets say the two have a very (one-sided on Y/N's part) beef.

She's a specialist

got the ick from Chrollo for saying she's not like other girls

listens to all the sad girl artist: laufey, phoebe bridgers, taylor swift, lana del rey, fleetwood mac, e.t.c

Was a camp counselor for a few summers and made friendship bracelets for the whole group.

The only one in the group who has been to therapy (as she should).

Texts frequently in the groupchat, but is very bad at calling back.

However, when your and Illumi’s marriage finally did come true, your relationship with his family (and your own too) improved even more.

↘ Your husband’s mother talked to you about all kinds of topics every day, his father used to call you his ‘Daughter’, and his grandfather, Mr. Zeno, would invite you to tea in his office every few days so that you could talk about his and your missions more often. You felt really great between them, like a real member of their big, strong family.

↘ Despite being a killer, I mean, a hell of a good assassin, you didn’t lose your feelings and positive emotions, so you could pass them on to others; you could give them as a teddy bear for Alluka, you could give them as a new sweater for Killua, you could give them as a hug for Kalluto to make him feel some love from the other person, and you could also give them as a new game or standee for Milluki who also adored you (and who I must include here too).

↘ So finally, after many months, you were ready to receive Illumi’s first compliment; it was a compliment you never expected to hear. Or at least not so fast.

↘ “... You will be a amazing mother to our children, Y/N. I don’t know a more gorgeous person than you.” He told you one evening when you, he and all his younger siblings were sitting in the living room, watching TV with Kalluto asleep on your own lap. At the same time, Killua and Alluka fell asleep on both of your shoulders, and Milluki fell asleep on the armchair with a packet of chips that you had bought him earlier.

Do you guys think Killua and Damian would get along? Like, if Damian messed with some universe-hopping entity, if he got stuck in York New with not a clue where he is, do you think they’d get along?

I’m thinking they may be cautious/unsettled around each other, only begrudgingly working together to escape whatever calamity brought them together.

Then they start to get to know each other, somehow. Maybe Illumi pays Killua a visit and Damian experiences nen for the first time (nearly kills him). Maybe Damian catches news about Talia via trying to find his way home. They learn they were both raised to kill, to be weapons, and to never love.

Maybe they run into Kurapika or Leorio and Damian hears about this bright-eyed boy who endeared himself to Killua, and he thinks about his own sunny best friend, who is gone, now.

They see their own pain echoed in each other. They lean on each other. They get close.

Killua teaches Damian to use some nen; Damian teaches Killua some disguise techniques.

Killua confides in Damian about the things Gon said to him, how it felt like a smack to the face, that they weren’t as close as he thought they were. Gon likes his company, but he doesn’t need him the way he needs Gon. He would throw his life away to die at Gon’s side... but Gon wouldn’t do that for him.

Damian confides that Jon was his best friend, and he suddenly grew up overnight and didn’t need him anymore. He confides how much it hurt that Jon... left, just up and left after he just got home. He feels like a figment of Jon’s past, now, and he has no place in his future.

Gon catches wind that there’s another boy with green in his soul following Killua around, and something in him snaps. Oh. Killua... Killua has replaced him. Killua isn’t missing him the way he’s missing Killua.

No. He sets out, regardless of the danger to find him again, to fight for his place at Killua’s side. He will not lose him that easily!

Jon doesn’t know about Killua until he’s finally found Damian-- and there’s this pale, snobby kid glaring up at him and a sweet girl asking Damian if this is the super boy...? Killua looks him in the eye and mumbles about how he doesn’t look so super, and it’s been awhile since Jon has wanted to punt a kid.

When Gon finally meets Damian, Killua is mortified. “How did you even find me,” Killua would ask. “I would never forget your scent!” Gon would say. Damian thinks it’s hilarious until Killua mumbles “Shut up, yours knows your heartbeat”.

Gon won’t stop challenging Damian to fishing contests, sparring matches, most of which he’d win if Damian didn’t see Gon winning a mile away and start blatantly cheating. Gon is miffed. Damian is smug. Killua is exasperated and about three seconds away from putting both their heads in the dirt. Alluka is amused.

If Jon’s there, he and Gon may get along like white on rice, much to Damian’s and Killua’s ire.

You made the choice in saying that someone had tried to hurt you, and with Gon away, you didn’t know what to do

Kurapika sighed and said he’d get a hotel and would scout the island for any suspicious behavior,,,

But he didn’t know that Gon WAS the culprit.

Soon after that, you went home with Gon.

“....You lied to him, Y/N.” There was a pregnant pause before your name, almost like it was hard for him to pronounce. “You never lie.”

“...Gon....” You said quietly, not prepared for whatever the hell he was going to say.

“Is this about the woman?” Gon narrowed his eyes at his feet, which moved as the both of you took the road to his house.

“No I just-“ you went quiet, not knowing what to say. Make something up. Fast. “I just wanted to.. get away from the island a bit.”

“Get away?” Gon’s dark expression changed into one of confusion. “Do you not like it here?”

“No! I like it here!” You said abruptly, your eyes widening. “It’s just, I was thinking of visiting my parents! See what they’re up too!” You nervously laughed, praying he didn’t notice your smile faulter.

“...Oh well...that’s easy.” Gon smiled at you, and for a second, you thought you did something good. “They’re up to nothing.” His eyes darkened, his smile widening a bit.

“Nothing?” You questioned, confused.

“They’re dead.” Gon hummed. “They kept trying to get in my way.. so I put them out of their misery. They missed you a lot.. and kept saying I kidnapped you! Which isn’t true right?”

You didn’t say anything. Nothing at all. The only thing that escaped your mouth were the harsh sobs, which seemed to shake your whole body. You fell to the ground, the rough asphalt slicing your knees, the stinging couldn’t compare to the state your heart was in.

“...Oh..” His voice lowered, the slight evidence of worry laced his tone. “.....Can you not speak..?” He grabbed your hand, kneeling before you.

You smacked his hand away, falling onto your back. “G-get the hell away from me!” You screamed, your hands slipping on the bloodied gravel below you. You kept trying to stand up, but it seemed that gravity pushed against you even harder than before. “Go away! For gods sake just leave me alone!”

He stared at his hand for about a minute, his mouth wide and agape. “Leave.. you alone? While your upset?” He seemed hurt, his eyes swelling up, tears appearing. “What kind of boyfriend would I be if I left you like this! You’re hurting!”

“Because of you! I’m HURTING BECAUSE OF YOU!” You screamed in his face, somehow gaining the strength to sit up.

“.......I didn’t hurt you! I would never hurt you!” His voice gained in volume, almost like he was panicking. “I just did what was best for both of us!”

“You did what was best for you!” You shoved your finger into his chest, your nail almost bending due to the pressure. “You never think about me! You force me to stay with you! I never wanted something like this! I-“

“Shut up.” Gon said suddenly, shadow overcasting his facial features. “Everything I do is for you... don’t you dare say it isn’t!” His hand quickly grabbed your wrist, the sickening sound of bone being crushed seemed to echo in your ears.

“Y-you’re hurting me... right now... you’re hurting me..” you whispered, trying your best not to cry even more. Your head already hurt from the screaming, the pain adding to your desire to pass out.

“You don’t know real pain.” He said coldly. “But you’ll find out soon.”

That’s all you heard before you eyes seemed to close, your body falling forward into someone’s warm embrace, the air being knocked out of you.

“But everything I do... is for you.. Y/N.”

Killua:

Thing is I don’t see him cheating :(

He’s so closed off as is, so it’s surprising he’s in love with you anyway!!

He’s definetly the Yandere who thinks that you need him

Like you’d be in danger without him

He’s definitely convinced himself that you’d die if you weren’t with him

And that makes him so friggin sad

He wants you to be happy

But he wants you to be safe first.

So, if you try to escape, that’ll make him even more broken inside

He’s a tragic yandere tbh

Wants to give you happiness and love, but he can’t let you out of his sight 😭

So you probably try to leave when he kills someone that was close to you

Probably a guy friend of yours

He felt like he was dangerous, and couldn’t have him taking you away

So he murdered him on the spot with a quick hand through the heart, his nails bloodied.

That was the last straw. You were living with a murderer.

How you would get out? You had no idea

You were in the Zoldyck Mansion. Locked away.

If anything, you could try talking to Canary. She liked you. A lot.

So that’s what you did. You told Canary everything.

She believed you almost immediately. She knew the Zoldycks were cruel... Killua included, no matter how much she liked him.

She’d try to smuggle you outside the gate

Hopefully the security guard would understand

That’s what got you here, standing from right inside the testing gate, Killua before you.

Canary was long gone. She had to stop the butlers from following you.. so you were alone.

“....What are you doing so far from home...?” He questioned, his eyes widened at the sight of you with bags in your hands. “It’s dangerous out here.”

“Killua, we’re inside the gate. You know it’s plenty safe out here.” You narrowed your eyes, nails digging into the leather holsters of your bag. You couldn’t back down now. “Besides, I can protect myself if need be.”

“.....Of course you can. I don’t doubt your abilities.” Killua rolled his eyes, his attitude returning to normal. “I wouldn’t date someone who can’t protect themselves.”

“....Then why don’t you act like that?” You felt a pang in your chest. He made it seems like you were weak.... He made it seem like you were helpless. Why would he do that?

“Act like what? Protective? I can’t do that?” He questioned, his defensive tone making itself clear.

“That is not what this is.” You countered, stepping back a bit. “You know this isn’t you being protective! You act like I’m fragile! Some glass vase that’ll break if someone pushes me to hard! I’m not! I’m a professional hunter just like you!”

“...You don’t act like it.” He pouted, shoving his hands in his pockets.

“How can you be so childish right now!? This is why I need to leave!” You stepped forward, your voice gaining in volume.

“...Leaving is a need? Are you sure you just don’t want it?” He stepped towards you, his voice getting low. He was definitely getting pissed off now.

“I haven’t been outside the gate in years Killua! You know how ridiculous that sounds?! Last time I interacted with someone from outside this gate, you fucking murdered them! He was my friend!”

“He was trying to hurt you!” Killua responded, his eyes darkening. “He was inviting you outside the gate! And by yourself no less! He could’ve hurt you!”

“Going out the gate isn’t a death sentence! I need fresh air Killua! I need to see people!” You continued to yell, throwing your hands up in the air dramatically, the bag in your hand almost being flung off to the side.

“You see my family everyday! They’re people!” Killua scoffed. “barely...” he muttered to himself, getting lost in thought.

“What if I don’t want to see your family anymore?! What if I don’t want to see you?!” You gasped right after the words left your mouth, hands covered your lips, almost in disbelief of what you had just said.

As your thoughts consumed you, you felt a slight pain in your abdomen, your body falling to the ground. Your bags cluttered around you, creating what ironically looked like a crime scene. He had just pushed you. That’s never happened before.

Killua stood above you, his eyes pulsating with dark intent, his aura covering for what seemed like miles. “....Don’t you ever say that!” He yelled out, tears almost appearing in his empty voids. “I might believe it one day! That you don’t need me anymore!” He grabbed the collar of your shirt, so his eyes could look into yours. “I can’t lose you like everyone else! Don’t leave me behind! I used to think you needed me but now I think it’s the other way around!” He cried out, tears threatening to spill. “I have to protect you with everything I have! I’ll continue to kill the people who try to take you away! So please don’t make this hard! I know you want to leave! I understand! But that can’t happen!”

You were quiet, your body feeling limp as he had hit a sensitive point on your body. “O-okay...” you muttered out, tears brimming the corners of your eyes. “I’ll stay.... I-“

Before you can finish, Killua hugged you tighter than ever before, knocking the air out of you. You felt like you could pass out, that feeling soon coming to reality as black dots filled your vision. He had somehow managed to manipulated you again. His worry getting the best of you.

okay so first things first !!! as a lee, gon is absolutely ADORABLE i mean hes always adorable but still!!

aunt mito used to tickle him all the time to cheer him up and he honestly doesnt even mind it because it does make him feel better!!

although he is pretty ticklish and the experience can get uncomfortable at times, he overall enjoys it because both parties are smiling and laughing and its just fun for everyone!!

but as a ler… man he can actually be pretty evil!!

he starts out very gentle and playful but if his lee is being stubborn then he kicks it up a notch and gets DEVIOUS

this especially happens a lot with killua, since this boy is in mega denial over being ticklish

he enjoys making people smile and teasing them but always backs off before his lee is too overwhelmed, he doesnt want anyone to have a bad experience!!

so kurapika is pretty ticklish and pretty much intended on keeping this a secret for the rest of his life lol

but of course, two kids + one big doofus just couldnt let that happen

hes pretty ticklish all over but moreso in unconventional spots like his knees and back/shoulders and such

he dislikes how being tickled makes him lose his composure and how out of control he is, but when hes around gon, killua and leorio he cant bring himself to be mad at them

so one day leorio accidentally found out kurapika was ticklish and said something along the lines of “wow kurapika, who knew you of all people would be ticklish” and unfortunately for kurapika, gon and killua overheard this

then it got pretty chaotic lol

but kurapika got his payback eventually of course

as a ler he is devastatingly gentle, 10/10 guaranteed to destroy any lee

he isnt used to physical touch, especially touching or tickling others, so he takes care to not hurt them which just makes it so much worse for his lee

hes the type to casually remark out loud how ticklish his lee is, unintentionally teasing them and making it so much worse

when he gets more comfortable around certain people he gets more playful and mischievous, initiating tickles more often, though this will take a while for him

leorio prides himself on being the king of tickle fights due to not being ticklish at all, but its only so long until the truth comes to light

while it is true that he isnt super ticklish in all the typical spots, you can really get him if you for his back/shoulders and also his ribs but only if youre SUPER gentle

other than that, good luck trying to tickle him lol

especially since he will 100% get revenge on you

or maybe it isnt even revenge, maybe its out of boredom since he tends to be very affectionate and tickle people often

gon and killua made the fatal mistake of trying to drag leorio into a tickle fight when leorio promptly wrecked both of them

kurapika just watched from a distance since he unsuccessfully tried to tickle leorio many times himself (excuse my leopika bias)

however after being patient enough kurapika eventually did find leorio’s ticklish spots and passed the information along to gon and killua

leorio is also a very goofy ler who laughs along with his lee!! he just finds it so entertaining and stuff

I'm not even gonna lie, this might be awful because of how tired I am. But I'll do my best!

Forced Hand (Kurapika x Spider! Reader)

Kurapika was worried sick. You've been gone without a trace for a full week now and no one had heard from you. Not only were you not answering your phone, from the looks of it, it seemed to be completely turned off which meant he couldn't even see your location. Kurapika was about to lose his sanity. He had absolutely no idea what would make you leave so suddenly without even telling him where you were heading off to.

As he began to pace around the hotel room again, all of a sudden the door opened and you walked through. A mix of emotions clouded Kurapika's mind. He was elated that you were finally back, relieved that you looked unharmed, but also angry because you didn't tell him where you were going.

"Where the hell have you been?" Kurapika asks while engulfing you in a warm hug.

You could feel his body physically shaking as he held onto you for dear life. You felt guilty for leaving without telling him anything, but you didn't have a choice. After all you were doing this to keep Kurapika safe.

Kurapika breaths in your scent and relaxes into your touch until he notices two things:

1. You weren't hugging him back 2. There was a spider tattoo on the side of your neck with the number 11 on it

He immediately jumps back into a defensive stance and looks at you with hurt in his eyes. You look at him with emotionless eyes and utter words that send a chill down his spine.

"We're done here. I'm tired of pretending I love you,"

Several thoughts were swimming through Kurapika's mind as he wonders how the hell things went south so quickly. You began to turn around and walk out the door but Kurapika stops you.

"Wait a second!" he screams, pleading for you to give him some type of explanation.

"What do you want?" you ask with the same heartbreaking emotionless tone.

"What the hell is going on?" Kurapika yells, now pinning you against the wall.

He takes a better look at your tattoo and realizes that it's legit. You were an actual member of the Phantom Troupe.

"Let me go or I'll kill you," you respond simply, which makes Kurapika angry.

"You are in no position to be making demands right now! Tell me what's going on right now!" Kurapika orders, his tone almost making you flinch.

It hurt to see Kurapika in so much pain because of you, but you needed to keep him safe. With that in mind, you flat out refused to offer him any sort of explanation. It wasn't until it was too late that you felt a stabbing pain in your chest and looked up to see Kurapika with tears in his eyes.

"I didn't want to do this but you left me no choice!" Kurapika yelled, his voice breaking in the process.

As tears stream down your face involuntarily, Kurapika's expression changes to sympathy, but he quickly puts his cold demeanor back.

"Here are the conditions. You will answer my questions truthfully. If you lie, the dagger attached to my chain will piece your heart. If you tell the truth, you will be released from my judgement chain and allowed to live freely," Kurapika states.

Instead of responding you avert your eyes, not being able to look at him anymore. If he forced the truth out of you the operation would be worthless, but if you died the operation would still have been worthless.

"Are you my enemy?" Kurapika asks.

"No," you respond.

"Why did you join the Phantom Troupe?"

"Because I was forced to in order to protect you,"

As soon as those words fall from your mouth, Kurapika is speechless. You aren't dead, which means you're telling the truth. That means that you've had his best interest in mind this whole time and he just threatened to kill you.

"But how is joining going to protect me?" he asks, tears starting to flow from his eyes yet again.

You choose your words very carefully.

"If I didn't join, they would kill you, and then Leorio, Killua, and Gon. I couldn't let that happen," you say truthfully.

"Oh God," Kurapika mutters, releasing his judgement chain from your heart.

You gasp at the feeling of the chain being removed and Kurapika engulfs you in a hug.

"I swear on my life I will kill those dirty spiders so that you won't have to live in fear anymore. That's a promise," he says.

• You had been spending an awful lot of time looking after Gon and Killua lately, and not spending much time with your boyfriend, Kurapika

• You chose to look after them because you knew they absolutely adored you, and you knew Kurapika was usually pretty busy with body guard duties and tracking the Phantom Troupe

• Leorio had been helping you watch after the boys, as they can be a pretty big responsibility at times (Although you really didn’t mind, it was great entertainment)

• Kurapika had been watching you from the sidelines, and although he admired the way you cared so much for them, he couldn’t help but get a little bit jealous. He saw the way you and Leorio had began to grow closer, spending so many hours of the day together.

• He knew Leorio would never make a move on you, and he knew you weren’t the type to cheat. He knew it was a silly thing to be jealous over, but a part of him deep down inside still hurt to see you spend so much time with other boys, even if he knew you were loyal to him

• Kurapika isn’t the type to express his feelings about this type of thing, but you can definitely tell that something is up with him

• He just kind of smiles at you and Leorio, and then goes off to be by himself

• When you ask him if something is up, he’ll assure you that he’s fine. He’ll lie and say he’s stressed over work or the Troupe (but really he just wants you to himself)

• Kurapika is selfless with most things, but you’re the one exception. When it comes to you, he doesn’t want anyone else to have you. You’re his and ONLY his. Even another man LOOKING at you in public is enough to make his eyes turn scarlet

• Since losing his clan, he feels that he’s lost control over so many things in his life. He feels that you, Gon, Killua, and Leorio are some of the only people he has left anymore. Especially you. He loves and cares for you deeply, and doesn’t want to lose you like he’s lost so many others. This causes him to be sometimes EXCESSIVELY overprotective of you. (you secretly think it’s kind of cute)

• Eventually you can’t take the tension anymore, and confront him directly. He eventually breaks under you and tells you how he’s been feeling, even if it sounds silly to admit out loud

• You assure him that it’s not silly, and that you’re only his

• He smiles with tears in his eyes and pulls you against his chest, telling you how much he loves you and gets jealous because he doesn’t want to lose you like he’s lost so many others in his life

The reason why I love hxh so much is that the anime shows class discrimination in every arc in its own way. Some may say its shown in CAA only or whatever but I feel, class discrimination started in the anime at least since the mention of meteor city. Not only class discrimination but it also shows misogyny in some way, how the examinees listened to male examiners carefully while the only female examiner was taken lightly and even made fun off but in the end her exam was the most difficult one to pass and failed almost everyone. But yes, Togashi did dwell into class discrimination more than anything in hxh. Phantom Troupe originated from Meteor city, a ragged place. They were the ones who made that place at least livable, remember the glimpse of chrollo's past? Where he was running in torn clothes around a pile of trash and nothing? Remember how phantom troupe was formed around a pile of trash? In CAA Meteor city had buildings, it was looking like a place that was at least livable, that is because of the crimes did by Phantom Troupe against Mafias, who are also criminals. If it weren't for their annihilation of the Kurta clan (which I am very very very sus about) they would've been considered robinhoods. The Hunter association is not at all "good" in fact as mentioned, Pariston has sent people for missions that are impossible, he is known to be responsible for the disappearance of many hunters. Hunter association is also affiliated to Mafias. Yet they are never seen in the bad light and Phantom Troupe are considered to be the most wanted criminals. The class discrimination is more clear in the CAA where Togashi used the Ant hierarchy to explain. A "king" is born to rule the world while others follow him without question. Mereum existence not only was a threat to the world but was also a threat to the Hunter association. In this case the Hunter Association can be considered as the other "king". Fighting for absolute domination. Hunter association that barely gave two flying fucks suddenly started caring about humanity. Because they would then lose power. Hxh characters are some of the most amazingly written characters out there. Gon is no typical shonen protagonist, who was always the "good" side in fact he is a gray character. He isn't good but he isn't bad either. Thats what makes Gon different. Killua used to be an assassin, that doesn't erase the past of his killings and his association with his family and the fact that one of the villains is his own Brother, again making him too a grey character. Leorio is the only supposed "good" main character but he is literally not shown in most of the arcs that is there. And there are "bad" characters too, for example Mafias, who too die or whatever. But here is what, Togashi making characters like Mafias and Leorio, he is not denying the fact that there is no absolute "good" or absolute "bad" but you don't see them often, they are rare. Humans aren't just supposed to be "good" or "bad", Humans are more than that, they are more than just "good" or "bad", no they are beyond those concepts and Togashi portrays it brilliantly.

i cant HATE hanzo because i dont think that he meant to do what he did but his whole fight with gon was just a HORRIBLE lesson to gon. he 1000% internalised everything that happened theres just no way that he didnt. being told over and over again that he cant win, that he needs to give up, and having countless adults just stand around and not say or do anything. like i know i know its part of the exam it HAS to test his mental skill but its fucking cruel the only person helping him or showing that they care is leorio, killua, and kurapika. everyone else is literally turning their heads from him. hes getting told that theres no way he could win as hes fucking bleeding and all of his senses are fucked up. he cant see, he cant hear out of one ear, he cant get up, he has a broken arm, his nose just got busted and he still tries to fight, he doesnt give up, and he tells leorio that hes fine. its nothing he cant handle.

hes screaming out in pain and no one is doing anything. they might stare in shock or they might show that they litearlly cant stand to watch gon but gon litearlly cant SEE. gon is stubborn to all hell and he wont give up.

the fight does a couple of things.

by eventually winning, it teaches him that he can keep going. he can have absolutely no strength in his body and he still will force himself to try and recover and try to fight. i could see gon exhausting himself to death because of this mindset. he will force himself over and over and he refuses to give up no matter what and he will only ever use his own strength and try to win. he goes through the thought that hanzo wouldnt cut off his legs because that would make him bleed out-- he doesnt think about how horrific it would be to have his legs cut off, its not like he doesnt take it seriously, but he doesnt take his own life seriously. he doesnt CARE. he would rather die than not be a hunter.

people praise him when he does well in the fight, and that teaches him that all he has to do is keep going. all he has to do is do good and he will be fine. all he has to do is keep getting back up and people will love him and he'll be admired. and all of this because of his dad, because he wants to find his dad, and i think the fight also teaches him that his father would eventually praise him for all of his efforts.

by hanzo still being nice, and not actually wanting to kill gon, pleading with him over and over again that hes not going to quit, that gon is going to die if he continues... and then hanzo pussing out and not doing it like that plants the idea in his head that the "bad guys" or the people that he has to fight ARENT that bad, i believe. this ones a hunch. i think that this will put it in gons head that eventually he will come out on top because his opponents cant be the worst people inside of their hearts, that they wouldnt kill him. you can bring up that gon refuses to take an easy win, that gon NEEDS to have a fair fight, but that doesnt really change anything. subconsciously, i think gon has a bit of an overconfidence that he cannot die. hisoka didnt kill him, hanzo didnt kill him, genthru didnt kill him, whatever and whoever didnt kill him. he wont die. i think that if gon ever accepted that he COULD die, like truly let it set in, then he would lose part of himself. i think gon refuses to truly have it in his head that he COULD die because i think that would admit defeat. i know that gon knows he can die, but his mortality and his own life is not serious to him because thats not a concern to him. his concern is his father and his friends.

by his friends being the only ones to outwardly show support, by being the ones who would scream out and tell him to quit, by him hearing them and knowing in his heart theyre barely holding themselves back to save him, their bond grows. i dont want to say thats unfortunate... but its kind of unfortunate. i dont want their bond and friendship to grow over feelings of pain and anguish, but thats what happens. he hears their cries and i know he internalises it as strength for him to keep going. the desperation that his friend show him only makes him be committed to them more. gon doesnt need verbal support, he barely needs people to tell him they like him. after all killua is his closest friend not because killua says nice things to gon and tells him sweet things or anything like that-- he and killua are best friends because of their actions. killua is committed to gon. gon knows that. he trusts killua because of that. gon sees the things his friends do for him, and it makes him want to match those exact things as well.

hanzos age is also a small thing, but a big thing at the same time. hanzo does mention his age to gon as a side note, but gon brings it up as a main point. he talks about how hanzo is only six years older than him. he doesnt keep going with that point, but i think his brain does do something with it. gon ends up putting that as motivation, i know he wants to match hanzos strength. he probably wants to be better than hanzo, stronger and more skilled. if gon got to hanzos age and was weaker than him i think he would hate himself for it. gon has unreasonably high expectations of himself, and age matters to him in the way that he needs to be stronger than everyone else. yes, to make his father proud and to thank him, but i know its also so he can protect his friends and family as well.

even what killua eventually eventually does, just that small thing of drawing hanzos face on the ground and saying that gon is nowhere near his strength... thats just basically forcing gon to compare himself to hanzo (something i know killua didnt mean as a bad thing). hanzo isnt the biggest threat that gon has ever had to deal with; i dont think that he has made THE absolute most impact, but i HAVE to think about it in this sense: gons spirit is...strong. but hisoka wounds it when he gives him an "easy win" and passes gon his badge. this makes gon deal with a bunch of self worth issues for a few days straight... and then hanzo goes and does all of that to him. had it been separate from everything that hisoka did i think that it mightve not hurt as much, but all of the stress i know went to his head. the end of the hunter exams were some of the most impactful yet painful events for gon, at least thats what seems to show once you looka t the behaviour that follows. i cant hate hanzo because i know he didnt mean to make gon develop the way he did. but i think hanzos fight did horrible damage to the way gon thinks.

There’s a new action movie that’s been catching your eye, and honestly you’ve been very hesitant on asking your new friends if they wanna see the new movie because they just seem so busy but, they make time for you. Of course they do, because Killua also wants to see the movie, Gon wants to see the movie and begged Kurapika to come, and Leorio needs a break from studying.

Leorio is the first to show up, he’s a sucker for being on time and honestly he’s way too early. Like 30 minutes early, and so he messages the group chat.

You’re on your way with Gon, Killua, and Kurapika who is the reason why you all arrived as a group. Gon has to make sure Kurapika won’t run off to do any of his extra curricular activities.

It’s already a night when Killua sees Leorio spamming the group chat, asking when everyone plans to arrive. The boy giggles and convinces everyone it’d be a good idea if everyone left him on seen, just to drive the ‘old man’ crazy.

It works, and Leorio falls victim to spamming while Gon and Killua giggle while Kurapika laughs quietly beneath his breath, careful to not let it show that he’s finding humor in his other friend going batty about being left on read.

You all show up, Leorio barely managing to keep his cool but Kurapika reassures him it’s a joke. Aided by Killua laughing at his crazed expression.

You’re in line now right, and Leorio is like “I’ll pay for Y/N’s ticket!” and Killua snorts and he’s like “With what money you’re not a doctor yet” and Leorio is like “😀 Excuse me”

Like he was only offering to be so nice to you since it’s your first time tagging along and now he’s got this little 14 yr old out here tryna make him look dumb he cannot HANDLE IT.

So besides all that, he pays for your ticket and he is broke but he will never let it show but he does... ask to share your popcorn with you when Killua isn’t near.

Gon and Killua convince you to sit next to Kurapika and Leorio, so they can chat throughout the movie and you were really hoping that the four of them would be quiet movie watchers but how naive are you to expect anything else?

Gon does nothing but ask questions throughout the entire movie to Killua who loses his patience every 3 minutes saying “I’M WATCHING IT AT THE SAME TIME AS YOU ARE YOU STUPID?” to which gon always says “YEAH.” and thats how they are for the entire two hours every 30 minutes.

Leorio isn’t any better but at least Kurapika seems to master handling Leorio better because after the third question Kurapika turned to him and told him if he asked another question it’d be his last. :)

Besides Gon and Killua babbling next to you, the movie was enjoyable. Even if you passed the popcorn back and forth every five minutes cause Leorio surely had a hankering for popcorn on this fine day.

Gon asks if you all wanna do another movie night, and honestly, who are you to say no?
