“Aidoru No Kisu”
~ Translation: Kiss of An Idol
~ Kimetsu no Yaiba AU: Idols
~ Pairings: Kimetsu no Yaiba Characters x FEM! Reader, Harem.
~ Oshi no ko Reference
Chapter 1:
Idol's Interest
"Hush, hush... Baby rabbit on the hillside... Why are your eyes so red? When I was small... mother ate the fruit of the red tree... and that's why my eyes are red~"
You cast a quick peek at your younger sister, who is already dozing off, When you saw her sleeping peacefully you stopped humming as you cleared your throat. You then fixed her long H/C-Hair putting some hair strands to the side as you smiled at her sleeping figure.
You then stood up as you closed the lamp making the room darker than it already is, Walking forward to the door you took one last look at her as you recalled what she said earlier: "Your voice is so soothing, Why don't you become an idol? I bet you would be a famous idol if you become one!" .
"I hope so too.", You then closed the door behind you as you went your way into the kitchen to cook yourself some food since you felt hungry. As soon as you opened the fridge you felt dissapointed because there weren't any foods left, not even leftovers. You decided to check the cabinets but much to your surprise it was also pretty empty.
Having no choice left, you decided to just order McDonald's unfortunately you are just too unlucky: Deliveries are Unavailable, "Can my day not get any unluckier" You sighed as you just resolved to purchase food from a store that's open at this hour, Of course convenience store's foods sometimes does not taste great but you had no choice since it was already midnight and most of your favorite fast food restaurant are closed.
Before leaving the house, You changed your clothes into something more casual and more importantly, you left a letter for your younger sister Incase she wakes up earlier than expected. You didn't worry much about having to leave your younger sister for a short amount of time since she was used to being alone when you are having a over-time at work or other situations, You also live in a condominium so there was pretty much guards around and your neighbours are nice enough to look after your younger sister when you are not presence.
After leaving your condominium, You immediately walked to the car that belonged to your late father and used your keys to  start it. Once the car is good to go you played some music on the road to not feel bored and the music was one of your favorite.
"For a broken sword is nothing, We will continue to Rise, As long as we breath, The battle goes on~"
Once you arrived at the Convenience store, you parked your car in an empty spot, You opened the door as you exit, placing the keys on your pocket as you made your way into the convenience store. This convenience store is a bit bigger compare to ones you have been before although the prices are a Heart-attack Generator.
You entered the convenience stored as you embraced yourself when the cold-air touched your bare skin, "Welcome Ma'am!" Greeted by a Guard. You hummed as you bowed your head to the guard. You then quickly made your way to the food section since you are already eager to get home.
You placed all the food you desired in your basket, While thinking of other foods to eat you remembered your younger sister wanting Sakura mochi so you tried to find a Sakura mochi from the store shelves. After what seems like forever you finally found a pack of Sakura mochi and it looks like it was the only one left so you quickly rushed to it however when you touched it someone did aswell.
"Get your dirty hands off", Was all the other person said. You got pretty pissed off since you don't like being talked to that way. "I found this first, hands off" You responded as you glared at him. When you stared at him you noticed that only his eyes were visible and all his other facial features are hidden. He was wearing a cap that almost hid his eyes, He had a white mask and he wore a hoodie that is also covering some of his features, you could only see his eyes and his front hair. While being mad at the dude you can't help yourself but get mesmerized when you noticed that he had a unique pair of eyes, the colors being different from each eye.
"Do I have to let my snake bit you so I could get this?" He threatened, An albino snake then started coming out of his hoodie and it was now on his neck. Usually you aren't really that scared of snakes since you used to live in a farm and is used to these kind of animals. "Seriously? that's petty." You gripped tighter onto the pack as he did aswell.
The guy was getting impatient and was about to just yank it and ran away but instead he had another idea in mind, "I'll pay you 2,500 yen to surrender this mochi.", When you thought about it, the deal was not too bad since you also knew that there are better Sakura mochi made in your town so you just accepted the deal "Fine, it's all yours."
"That's what I thought." He then took out something from his pocket and handed you the promised amount of money he was supposed to give, As soon as you took the money someone from the other side screamed which made you flinched.
"HELP! HELP! I'M LOST" Although it was a stranger it made you concerned so you decided to follow the voice, The guy who was also with you also followed you which made you think that he's a creep. "Weirdo stop following me" You said as you gave him a side-eye.
"Shut the fuck up, She needs me" He responded. When you arrived you noticed a girl who seems to be panicking over something so you walked towards her "Are you alr-" However before you could even get close to the girl, the guy from before pushed you aside making you irritated. "Hey obanai! that wasn't so nice" The girl said as she crossed her arms "I'm thankful that you found me but don't treat her harshly."
When she mentioned the name 'Obanai' you immediately thought about one of your favorite idols who is named as 'Iguro Obanai', you quickly shrugged the thoughts in your head thinking that it could be coincidence but...is it really a coincidence? you then recalled the Idol's eyes being a unique pair of eyes, It was the cause of hetochromia, The same eyes as the stranger before you.
'Stupid' You mentally slapped yourself for even thinking that this rude stranger is him, idols are nice so you couldn't possibly mistake an idol for another person. Right?
"Sorry for what my friend did earlier." The girl apologize on behalf of the stranger as you just stood in confusion, why would she be apologizing if it wasn't any of her fault? could these two be somehow related? You observed her features. She was also wearing a hoodie similar to the stranger besides her and she is wearing a mask although her hair is more visible, her hair is black and is tied in a braid but is her hair really black? although her hoodie had a dark color you noticed that her hair is staining the hoodie itself so it could be just a dye.
"No it's fine, It wasn't really no big deal" you said as you smiled, you noticed that the girl's eyes sparkled which made you concerned, "are you okay?", You asked out of concern, she shook her head as she spoke "No! there's nothing wrong I was just admiring your face! you have a cute face!".
You slightly blushed at her compliment however you felt as if someone is wishing you death. You then snapped out of your thoughts when you realized that you have been in the store for too long and that your younger sister might be awake so you excused yourself, "Thank you for your compliment I really appreciate it, I hope to meet you again someday" with that you took one last glance at her before going to the counter.
"Next in Line Please!"
Younger Sister's POV:
I woke up in my own bed expecting to see my Older sister right beside me but much to my surprise she wasn't there, I yawned as I stretched my arms and hopped out the bed.
I was hoping to see my older sister in the kitchen but she wasn't there, However I found something else, a paper that lies on the table.
I took the paper as I tried to read it, Although I still struggle at reading, I still have a bit knowledge in terms of reading or writing.
Dear Kumiko,
I abandoned you. go live on your own now.
I went pale when I read the letter, I thought I was mistaken so I kept trying to read it over and over again until I noticed that there's a second paper on the table, I was stupid enough for not being able to notice it so I quickly took the 2nd paper, in hopes that it was all just a prank.
Dear Kumiko,
I was only kidding with the 1st paper, you know that I love you and I would never exchange you for anything in the world. I went out to buy foods, we ran out of food stocks. I know it's better to do it in the morning but I'm really Starving and my stomach was starting to get upset, Do call me if you want me to buy anything for you and as I always warn you: Do not go outside or let a stranger in.
Love, Y/N
I could finally breath in easily after knowing that my sister didn't abandoned me, I was scared that she would abandoned me like what our Mom just did.
Why does it have to be Career over Family?
Since I'm already awake, I decided to just play on my iPad, the one father gave me. I lay my back on the couch as I unlocked my iPad.
KNOCK KNOCK
My face lit up at the thought of thinking that my sister is finally home, I disliked the idea of being home alone since I like being close to my sister. I hopped out the coach as I rushed to the door preparing to embrace my sister.
"Welcome home!" I greeted as I smiled, wait. there's something wrong
"You aren't my Sister."
NARRATOR'S POV
"Thank you ma'am! next please" You bowed down to the cashier lady to show gratitude and grabbed your groceries so that you could finally go home. When you exited the convenience store you noticed a group of people, It made you confused since it was really late for people to be out here, However you shrugged this off thinking there might be an event.
As you approached your car, you opened the door and put your groceries in the backseat however you still became curious of what's the fuss about so you decided to just see it for yourself, You locked the car doors as you approached the crowd.
as you were getting closer to the crowd, you look to the side which was a dark alley. A pair of dark blue eyes meet your E/C-Eyes, As you are about to speak you were suddenly pulled to the side.
A hand was put on your mouth preventing you to talk any further and his other hand secured around your body so you couldn't move, Your body was pressed against this unknown person as he hushed you. You tried wiggling out of his grasp but he was too strong and you were no match for this person, you also tried biting it but it didn't work.
"Hmp-h!" You tried letting out a word but it was all muffled, "Calm down for a minute, I intend no harm." The mysterious figure spoke as his breath hit your bare skin sending shiver down your spine. You stopped trying to resist him afraid that he have a weapon with him so you just stood there as you prayed to the Gods above.
"What the fuck are you doing tomioka! why did you pulled her here?!" Someone whispered in an aggressive tone, you look over to the side and noticed a guy who is Tall, It was pretty dark in the alley but you can see some of his facial features and what he wears. he is wearing a hoodie that is dark green in color, He also have a mask but the scar on his face was visible, and he has a white hair.
"She saw us, she could lead the others here and we would be screwed." He responded as he stares intensely at the other guy, the other guy huffed in response. "If it wasn't for you then we wouldn't even be spotted in the first place! you piss the living soul out of me you mother fucker!" He tried to lower his voice down but failed, he ended up being too loud on the last part attracting the crowd's attention.
"Shinazugawa? Is that really him?" "Tomioka! breed me!~"
"Shit.", Spat the white hair man. This is where you realized that these guys are not kidnappers but rather Idols, The thought of being pressed against an idol is already melting you from the inside. 'This is my lucky day' you thought.
"I think I heard it here! everyone! they might be here!"
As the voice approach closer, The two idols with you are starting to get nervous as they think of a way to escape this situation. Due to stress the guy who is securing you lost its grip as his hand left your mouth. This is where you decided that you can be a use to them if you lure these crazy fans away, "I'll help" you offered as the white hair guy also known as 'shinazugawa' stared at you "and what do you know!?" He demanded an answer.
"I'll lure them" You said as the guy called as 'Tomioka' loosen its grip on you. "We can't tru-" Shinazugawa was trying to say something until tomioka interrupted "Let her.", As soon as tomioka nodded you went out the dark alley to show yourself.
"LISTEN UP! I SAW SHINAZUGAWA AND TOMIOKA WENT THERE!"
You pointed your index finger to the opposite direction as the fans followed the direction you pointed at without question, You broke a sweat as you are confused to why they would do it so easily without questions. "That was easy.." You said as you looked at Tomioka and Shinazugawa.
As soon as the Fans disappeared from sight you let out a deep breath as you stared back at both the men, "Thank you for helping us." Tomioka expressed, You couldn't tell if tomioka was smiling at you since he had a mask on but it didn't really matter since you are already happy enough just by standing near to them, Your idols.
"I know this question may be personal but don't you have guards?" You asked tilting your head, They then stared at each other debating whether they should answer or not, Tomioka then spoke "We do have guards, but we are currently on vacation.", satisfied with the answer you planned to ask for an autograph but was quickly turned down when Shinazugawa started walking away.
"Wait-" He looked at Shinazugawa who seems annoyed "SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET'S GO" Tomioka just sighed as he took out a sealed letter from his pocket and gave it to you "A token of appreciation. Thank you for what you did earlier, I'll get going now." He slightly bowed as you waved goodbye, feeling defeated since you couldn't get their autograph.
You then opened the sealed letter and as soon as you opened it your eyes sparkled with joy, it was an invitation to an exclusive party where most celebrities gathered. As you are about to get lost in your dreamland you remembered you still have some responsibilities to take care of. "Ah! Kumiko". With that you rushed to your car with a face full of hope, would you finally find the opportunity to become an idol?
GIYUU'S POV
"Shinazugawa" I called out to a 'friend' of mine as he turned to look my way with a mad expression displayed on his face, honestly it was his normal expression so I wasn't that surprise, "WHAT" was all the response he gave.
"Do you think it will be okay if an idol fall Inlove with someone who's not from the entertainment industry?" I asked as I stared at the night sky above, Although I couldn't exactly see sanemi's facial expression I could sense his confusion, need not worry for I am confused aswell. "why are you suddenly asking questions like that?" he asked but not longer than a minute it seems like he have seen through me "Aha! are you interested in that girl we meet from the convenience store?"
I ignored his comments as I stared at the sky waiting for a proper answer, "It's not illegal if you won't get caught", His words caught me off guard, of course nothing is illegal if you don't get caught doing so. "You know, I don't blame you the girl is interesting and her voice is that of an angel's" His respond seems like something he wouldn't say, he doesn't really compliment people as he prefers to degrade them
"I see, I was just-"
"Interested huh?" Sanemi started laughing out loud which made me confused. "Looks like you got a competition man, it's not like I'm giving her that easily to you. I'll make her mine before you could even lay a hand on her"
BADUMP
I don't know why, I've never felt this way. Even with sanemi and obanai's harsh words I didn't care about them, but him saying he will get his hands on her first is frustrating.
"I'd like to see you try" Just who is this girl? I've just meet her but why do I feel like..

A Bit Possessive – Kazuma (PSF #29)
Tumblr media
PSF Ficography | H&F Flash Ficography
Genre: Fluff, supernatural, romance
Prompt: “Hey, wake up!” (@flufftober) / Frightening Films: Hocus Pocus (@slumberpartybingo Halloween Flash)
Word Count: 4,635
Pairing: Reader x Vampire! Kazuma
World: The Rampage
───── ⋆⋅🍂⋅⋆ ─────
You stretched your arms above your head, stifling a yawn as you exited the LDH building. After nearly three months of working non-stop, and dealing with the chaos that is the Rampage, you had been given a three-day vacation. It just so happened that these three days fell on Halloween, something you were super excited about.
The autumn wind was cold as it wrapped around your body, fallen leaves scraping across the cement. It brought a smile to your face because you adored this time of year. Living in the city meant there weren’t a lot of trees around, something you thought was a real shame. The few that did exist were currently bare, their brightly colored leaves lying in piles on the ground.
As you walked down the street toward your apartment, something caught your eye, making you pause. Tucked in between two large clothing stores was a movie rental store called Flicker House. Last time you had checked, most movie rental places had shut down with the rise of streaming so it was a surprise to find one still standing.
‘Rest in peace, Blockbuster and Yeonghwamaeul,’ you closed your eyes for a moment and nodded respectfully. As someone who grew up in the age of DVDs, where the last of VHS tapes was beginning to fade from the public, it was sad to see that very few rental stores still existed.
The thought filled you with nostalgia and, despite how badly you just wanted to climb into bed, you chose to check it out instead.
The bell above the door chimed when you stepped inside, the faint smell of dust reaching your nose. The store was small, black shelves living the walls and filled with hundreds of DVDs. The store was silent, though, making your ears ring. You figured they would at least have music playing or something.
To the right against the wall was the check-out counter though no one was there. Was the store even open? You double-checked the sign hanging on the door. It had been turned so that OPEN was facing outward toward the street.
‘Maybe they’re just in the bathroom or something.’ You made your way through the store, looking at the signs hanging above each shelf – romance, historical, fantasy, drama. You hummed in thought as you turned the corner, eyes widening with happiness. There, at the back of the store, was a Halloween display.
The shelf had been decorated with paper crafts of ghosts and pumpkins, the sign above reading, Frightening Films. You rushed over, scanning the shelf with a grin. They had horror and Halloween-themed movies from all over the world. The plastic cases were scratched, the images within dull and faded with age. The discs themselves seemed fine, though, and didn’t appear to have any scratches or marks.
If you were being honest, you had watched ninety percent of the movies they were offering, being an avid horror fan, so it was really just a matter of what you wanted to re-watch. The few movies you hadn’t seen didn’t look too interesting to you.
The door at the center of the room opened and a tall, thin young man came walking out with a scowl. He was wearing an orange vest with the store’s name on the left breast. When he saw you, he paused and blinked as if surprised to see someone inside the store.
Then he realized you were pretty cute and a sleazy grin came to his lips. He ran his hand over his slicked-back hair, so heavy with gel that you were surprised it wasn’t dripping down his neck. “Hey there, baby. Can I help you?”
You quirked a brow at him before returning your attention to the shelf. “No, I’m good. Thank you.”
He wasn’t put off by the curt answer. “I’m quite the horror enthusiast, ya know. If you have any questions, I -” He reached his hand out toward your shoulder. Before he could touch you, though, a hand wrapped around his wrist, squeezing so tightly that it prompted a cry of pain from him.
You looked up in surprise. “Kazuma?”
The raven-haired idol was glaring daggers at the employee and it took every ounce of self-control within him not to break the guy’s wrist. He was insanely protective over you, hating whenever anyone touched you. This was especially true for strangers and people who were trying to flirt with you.
“Kazuma, let him go!” You scowled, slapping the male’s shoulder.
He seemed to snap out of it, reluctantly releasing the younger male who was now shaking by a leaf, unable to meet his dark eyes.
“E-Excuse me!” He bowed, turning on his heel and rushing into the back of the store.
“What the hell was that about?” you scolded, eyes narrowed at him.
Kazu’s shoulders fell, his gaze on the floor as he frowned. He wanted to say he was just trying to protect you, but he knew it was so much more than that. He couldn’t admit to being possessive over you, even if it was obvious to everyone else.
When he refused to answer, you sighed deeply. “What are you even doing here? Shouldn’t you be out with the rest of the boys?”
He folded his arms over his chest, the leather jacket being pulled taut against his muscles. “I wanted to make sure you got home safely… you said you were going straight home.”
“That was the plan but then I found this place,” you admitted. “How many times do I have to tell you? I don’t need a bodyguard. I’m not the idol, here.”
“You don’t have to be an idol to find yourself in danger,” he retorted with a frown, poking your forehead with a black nail. “And you seem to have a penchant for finding trouble.”
“I don’t find trouble, it finds me!”
“Same thing.”
“Completely different.”
The two of you stared at each other for a moment before he smiled softly, dark eyes seeming to sparkle under the low light of the store. “What movies are you picking?”
You hummed in thought, turning your attention back to the shelf. “Well, I’ve seen most of them. I’m thinking maybe The Ring and one of the Halloween movies. As Above, So Below is really good, too!”
Kazu stepped closer to you, his shoulder brushing against yours as he reached out for the last movie you had mentioned so he could read the back. Upon removing it from the shelf, it revealed a different movie.
You gasped, eyes wide with delight as you snatched it off the shelf. “Oh my god, they have Hocus Pocus!”
He found himself smiling brightly at your excitement. “I’m guessing you really like that movie?”
“It was my favorite growing up! It’s a true Halloween classic, though I wouldn’t say it’s a scary film. Perhaps for children.”
“Can we watch it together? I’ve never seen it.”
“Absolutely!” You turned to him with a grin. “I really hope you enjoy it, it’s such a good movie.”
He nodded, slowly wrapping his arms around you, face nuzzling the side of your neck as he inhaled deeply. “I tend to like anything you do.”
You chuckled, not the least bit worried about how close to your neck he was. Over the years, you’ve grown close to Kazuma and, despite the fact that he’s a vampire, you trusted him with your whole heart. You knew he would never hurt you and you made sure he fed regularly to avoid any accidents.
You patted his back a few times before pulling away, chuckling at his hiss of disapproval. Deciding to get all four movies, you headed toward the counter to check out. You tapped the silver bell sitting on the counter, though you weren’t confident that the boy would return.
Standing at five feet seven inches, Kazuma was full of muscle with a more slender body. His resting bitch face was enough to scare most people, but when he was actually trying to be intimidating, most people tended to run. You weren’t sure if it was just him or if it was a vampire thing, but you remember being scared of him when you first met.
Rather than the young man, an elderly man came hobbling out from the back, using a cane to assist him. You could see the younger male peering out from the doorway but he hid again as soon as he caught sight of Kazuma.
“Sorry for the wait,” apologized the man, offering you a tired yet kind smile.
“No problem at all,” you smiled back, sliding the DVDs over to him.
“Did you find everything you were looking for?”
“I did, thank you.”
He entered something into the computer before it started to print out four stickers which he then placed on each DVD. The stickers held the store name, the current date, the return by date, and a barcode. “Please return them by next Thursday.”
“I’ll make sure I do, thank you.” You bowed to him before taking the bag. “Take care.”
“You, as well, dear.”
Kazuma followed you from the store, unable to take his eyes off of you. How could he when you were so damn beautiful? All he wanted was to hold you in his arms for the rest of eternity. He wanted to ask if you were going to watch them tonight, but the sound of his phone ringing interrupted him.
He frowned, tugging it from his pocket. “Hello? Hokuto, what -” His brow furrowed as he came to a stop, earning a concerned look from you. “Oi, calm down… how much have you had to drink? … eh, Makoto? Seriously? Ugh, I’m on my way, just hold on!”
“Is everything okay?”
“Hokuto got drunk and is apparently trying to fight the other people at the bar,” he sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Oh jeez.”
He cupped your face, eyes softening when they met yours. “I have to go help Makoto. Please… please get home safely.”
“I’m not helpless,” you smiled, patting his hand. “Go save our pretty boy before someone ruins that face of his.”
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to your forehead before he could stop himself. Biting his lip, he quickly turned and rushed off before he could see your reaction.
You bit your lip, as well, trying to hold back your smile.
───── ⋆⋅🍂⋅⋆ ─────
Rain gently pelted the window of your bedroom as you slept, the sound helping to keep you under the sandman’s hold. A smile came to your lips as you shifted in bed, mumbling incoherently to yourself. You were honestly exhausted and had earned a good night’s sleep.
There was a light tapping on the glass and you shifted again, body registering the sound but it wasn’t loud enough to wake you. It grew in intensity, seeming impatient, and your brow furrowed, sleep beginning to leave you.
“Hey, wake up!”
You slowly lifted your head, blinking tiredly as your mind tried to figure out what was happening. You registered the tapping on the glass and the sound of thunder rolling in the distance. Had you imagined it?
A familiar voice whined your name. “Wake up!”
With a furrowed brow, you climbed out of bed and approached the window with a yawn. Squatting on the other side of the glass was Kazuma, black hair wet and plastered to his forehead. He was frowning, looking uncomfortable as the rain pelted him.
You flicked the lock before pushing the window up and frowning at him. “Kazu? What are you doing here?”
“I missed you,” he admitted softly, a pout on his lips.
You sighed, running a hand through your hair. “You just saw me…” you glanced at the clock and groaned. “Bro, it’s three in the morning!”
“I’m sorry,” he shifted his weight, brushing his hair back away from his forehead. “Will you please invite me in? It’s cold and wet out here.”
You blinked at him dumbly. “The window is open.”
He rolled his eyes. “I’m a vampire, remember? You have to give me permission to enter.”
“Yeah, sure, whatever. You can enter,” you waved your hand at him in frustration before sliding back under the warm comforter.
Kazuma didn’t hesitate to slip through the window, closing it behind him. “Can I use your shower?”
“Do you have to be invited to do that, too?” you muttered, earning a chuckle from him. “I don’t care.”
“No, I just didn’t want to be rude.” He shook his head, sending you a smile before leaving your bedroom.
When he returned, you were out like a light, snoring softly. He readjusted the towel around his waist as he rifled through your dresser, looking for something to wear. He adored the way your clothes smelled, not just because of the detergent you used, but because it reminded him of you.
With a smile, he carefully slid under the covers, strong arms wrapping around your body and pulling you against his firm chest. You mumbled something incoherently and he hummed, nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck. His eyes flashed red when he inhaled deeply, the scent of your blood filling his nostrils.
He had wanted so desperately to drink from you the moment the two of you first met three years ago. At first, he held himself back because he didn’t want you to know his secret. As time passed by, though, he started to grow attached to you. Even after you found out the truth, he couldn’t bring himself to drink from you.
For Kazu, he knew it would be more than just feeding. With you, it would be so much more intimate and he couldn’t be sure that he wouldn’t mark you. For vampires, marking was akin to marriage but deeper. It was a connection between soul and body, promising to forever be by that person’s side.
He was sure he wanted to spend the rest of his existence with you, but it was a complicated situation. You were human, for starters, and you knew nothing of vampire customs. How could he possibly ask you to give up your humanity for him? He certainly didn’t ask for it and it took him a long time before he was able to come to terms with his new life.
Knowing how he suffered, how could he possibly put that on you?
A frown tugged at his lips as he held you tighter, fingers curling around your shirt. He closed his eyes, trying to ignore the ache inside his heart.
───── ⋆⋅🍂⋅⋆ ─────
The shrill ringing of your phone cut through the morning, knocking you from your sleep. You grunted tiredly, trying to roll over so you could grab your phone but there was a heavy weight atop your body, preventing you from moving.
Blinking a few times, you lifted your head to find Kazuma, his body wrapped around your own. His head was on your chest as he slept peacefully. You tried to push him off but he just held you tighter, his grip like iron.
“Damn it, Kazu,” you muttered, stretching your arm as far as you could. Your fingers brushed against the phone and you grunted, carefully pulling it closer until you could get a good grip on it. Unfortunately, you pulled it too close to the edge and it toppled off the table, bouncing against the wooden floor.
You winced, hoping it was okay.
The sudden noise woke Kazu, a hiss escaping his lips as he slowly lifted his head, eyes half-lidded. His gaze met yours and he smiled immediately, pulling his body farther up your own so he could reach your neck. “Mornin’,” he mumbled, lips brushing against your skin.
You sucked in a breath, goosebumps rising across your skin. “You’re too heavy,” you muttered, pushing at his shoulder.
He groaned, shifting his body so most of his weight was off of you. “Don’t get up yet…”
“I have to check my phone.” You patted his arm, slipping away from his grip so you could grab the phone off the floor.
As soon as you had it, Kazu was on you again, arms secure around your waist. You never knew vampires could be so clingy. Then again, you didn’t even know vampires existed until you met him.
You tapped the power button on your phone, checking your notifications. Most of them were messages from Zin and Likiya, asking if you had seen Kazuma. You quickly replied, letting them know that their vampire was safe, sound, and not locked up in a hunter’s lair somewhere.
There were a couple messages from Takahide and Riku, but they were just memes and funny posts they found on Instagram. There was a message from your boss, Nagoya-san, as well. Kazu frowned when he saw the name. Were you being called into work? He went through the schedule in his mind.
Right now, the Ma55ive crew were promoting their new song. Hokuto was working on a drama. Rui and Takuma had been booked for a YouTube video with Taiki and Keito from Fantastics. The rest had the day off.
Unofficially, you had been assigned to keep watch over Kazuma, making sure his feedings were in check and his secret didn’t get exposed. Officially, you worked as a sub-manager, filling in whenever and wherever you were needed. Had something come up?
You opened the message, scanning the contents. He was asking you to look over the schedule for next week and let him know if you had any issues with it. You did so quickly before letting him know that you would be able to work without issue.
His body relaxed against you, a soft exhale passing his lips.
You chuckled at his reaction, patting his back. “I need to get up, Kazu.”
“You don’t have to work,” he frowned. “Stay in bed with me.”
“I have to use the bathroom.”
“Oh…” Reluctantly, he released his hold, eyes following you as you left the room. He was tempted to just go back to sleep but decided against it. He knew you well and he knew that once you were awake, you’d struggle to go back to sleep.
He entered the kitchen with a hum, opening the fridge to check what food you had. It was pretty barren, mostly drinks and condiments that made his nose wrinkle in disapproval. You didn’t even have any eggs!
“There’s no blood in there,” you joked, slipping past him so you could grab a bottle of water.
“You don’t have any food,” he replied disapprovingly.
“Yes, I do.”
He quirked a brow, glancing at the empty fridge again. Before he could say anything, you opened the cabinet. It was stuffed with cup noodles, instant ramen packets, and various other snacks that probably weren’t the healthiest.
“See? Food.”
He sent you a deadpan look, arms folded over his chest. “You can’t survive off of ramen.”
“Lots of people do, Kazuma. It’s not that big of a deal.” You rolled your eyes at his scolded look, heading into the living room so you could flop down onto the couch.
He followed, settling down beside you. He was really tempted to keep scolding you for your choices, but he didn’t want to annoy you so he bit his lip instead.
Thunder boomed outside, rattling the sliding glass door, rain pelting the glass. Despite being the early morning hours, the sky was covered with dark grey clouds, the sun nowhere to be found.
“Do you want to watch a movie?”
“Can we watch the one you were excited about?”
You nodded with a grin, hopping off the couch so you could insert the disc into the DVD player. Once it started playing, you returned to your place beside him, making him suck in a breath when you curled up against his side. He put his arm around you, pulling you so close that you were practically on his lap.
His fingers brushed lightly over the pulse point in your neck, loving the way your heart picked up speed when he did so.
“Pay attention to the movie,” you muttered, feeling your face warm up under his intense gaze.
“I am,” he replied, blatantly staring at you as his fingers continued to rub over your skin. Oh, how he longed to sink his fangs into that vein.
You scoffed, glancing at him. The hazy look in his dark eyes took you by surprise but you tried to ignore it, forcing a laugh. “You’re staring at me, how can you be paying attention?”
“Sorry,” he mumbled, forcing his gaze toward the TV, though he wasn’t paying a lick of attention to what was happening. All he could hear was your heart racing, the smell of your blood pumping through your veins wrapping around him like a comforting blanket.
Silence fell over the two of you as you both watched the movie, though neither of you were actually paying attention. You had suddenly become hyper-aware of the man sitting beside you. You turned your head just enough to peer at him, a frown tugging at your lips. His skin was paler than normal, dark bags beneath his eyes and his lips chapped.
They were all telltale signs that he hadn’t fed in a while.
“Now you’re staring at me,” he teased, eyes flickering to meet your own.
“When did you feed last?”
This caught him off guard. “What?”
“When did you feed last?” you repeated, eyes narrowing at him.
He swallowed hard, trying to think of a lie that you would believe. You had memorized his quirks, though, and could tell if he was lying or not. He didn’t want to lie, but he knew you’d be pissed if he told you the truth.
“Damn it, Kazuma. I’ve only been away from work for a day and a half and you’re already not feeding properly!”
“Then maybe you shouldn’t leave,” he muttered under his breath, turning away from you.
“Go home.”
His head snapped toward you, eyes wide. “What?”
“Go home,” you ordered, scooting away from him and folding your arms over your chest. You closed your eyes in case he tried to pout at you – it was a look you struggled to say no to.
“I know you’re mad at me,” he breathed out, struggling to find his voice. “Please… don’t kick me out.”
You frowned at his tone, looking at him despite yourself. When you spoke again, your tone was much softer. “You need to go feed, Kazu.”
“I’m fine, I swear.”
“I know you’re lying.”
He swallowed hard, lowering his gaze. Truth be told, he was starving. He could feel the thirst getting worse with each moment that passed, but he didn’t want to leave you. More importantly… ever since he first smelled your blood all those years ago, no other blood tasted the same. It tasted sour, foul almost.
“Go home and feed…” you paused, biting your lip as you considered your next words. “Unless…”
Kazu’s eyes snapped to you, hands clenching around his jeans. “Unless…?”
“Unless…” you took a few deep breaths to try and calm your racing heart. You lofted your head, meeting his eyes. “You drink from me.”
His eyes widened, flashing bright red before settling on a deep maroon. He covered his mouth, face heating up and heart racing within his chest. Was he dreaming? He had dreamt of drinking from you every single day since you first met, and now you’re offering yourself to him?
He quickly shook his head, jumping off the couch. “No,” his voice was barely above a whisper yet it still trembled. “No, I… I can’t.”
“You want to, right?”
His shoulders tensed. He was hyper-aware that you had stood up and was slowly approaching him.
“You want to and you need to feed. What’s the harm?”
His lips parted, a shaky breath escaping him. How could he possibly explain this to you? He felt embarrassed just thinking about it.
“Please talk to me, Kazu.” You lifted your hand to his back.
As soon as you touched him, he whipped around and pressed you against the wall in the blink of an eye, his face buried in your neck. He was breathing heavily, his body trembling as he fought to control himself.
You reached up, fingers threading through his hair and pulling a groan from his lips. “It’s okay. I’m giving you permission.”
His arms tightened around you, lips brushing your skin when he spoke. “You don’t know what you’re asking.”
“You’re just feeding -“
“No!” He hissed, squeezing you almost painfully before his grip loosened. “No, I… if I…”
“What is it?” you questioned softly, trying to push him away so you could see his face but he refused, shaking his head. “Please talk to me. I can’t help if you don’t tell me.”
“If I drink from you,” he started softly, pausing for a moment to collect his thoughts. “I’ll mark you. You’ll be mine… for all eternity.”
You blinked, taking in the words before laughter erupted from you.
Kazuma was confused. Did you not understand what he just said?
“I was under the assumption that I was already yours. Pretty sure you claimed me the day we met, right?”
“And… you’re okay with that?”
“Yes.”
He couldn’t hold himself back any longer, his fangs sinking into your skin. You gasped in pain, hands clutching his shirt. You knew it would hurt more if you were tense so you forced yourself to relax, closing your eyes. His hand rested against the other side of your neck as he drank from you, eyes glowing brightly.
He pulled his fangs free, tongue lapping at the puncture wounds. He nuzzled your neck with his nose before dipping down again, sinking his teeth into your flesh. It felt different than the first one. Rather than feeling pain, you felt euphoria fill every inch of your body.
You had never done drugs before, but you were pretty sure this is what feeling high would be like. You felt as if you were floating in the clouds, your heart beating in time with Kazu’s. His hand found yours, pressing it back against the wall so he could lace his fingers through your own.
A wave of dizziness washed over you, your vision blurring. Your lips parted, forming his name, but no sound escaped.
He flattened his tongue against your skin, running it slowly from the first wound to the next. “I love you,” he whispered, red lips pressing kisses to your neck. “God, I love you so much it hurts.“
You wanted to reply, to let him know that you felt the same, but you didn’t have the energy. Your knees gave up beneath you and he scooped you up into his arms, your eyes meeting his. You’ve never seen so much happiness and love in his eyes before. He was ecstatic, so filled with happiness that he felt as if he might burst.
“Get some rest, my love,” he whispered.
Your consciousness was fading fast but you fought against it, hand finding his cheek. You leaned up as best you could, pulling him toward you until his lips met yours. You could taste your own blood but you didn’t care.
His lips danced against your own, his teeth tugging at your bottom lip. He knew you were barely holding on so he pulled away, his forehead against yours. “Rest now. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
“Promise?” you mumbled, resting your head against his shoulder and closing your eyes.
He kissed the top of your head with a smile. “Baby, I’ll be here with you until the day I die. You’re mine, now.”
A smile tugged at your lips as you slipped into unconsciousness.
“And I’m yours.”

You stood around with your friends awaiting the races the start. The brochure in your hand, had bios of the multiple racers today. As you flipped the page, one caught your eye, Takahide; or Taka as you remembered. He was really selective of who he ran with, and loved to skateboard. It was only fitting he was a racer now. Even though many years had passed since you had seen him, nothing had changed. He was still the good looking guy you knew. Hopefully he kept his personality, being the sweet, calm soul you remembered.
High-school wasn’t a walk in the park for you. You were smart, just got bored easily. There were some classes you didn't care for, and that's how you met him. The library was usually a quiet space, but for you, it was where you practiced your extended language. Those words never meant to flow out your mouth so casually, but when you got pissed or overwhelmed, you'd make a sailor blush. Takahide just happened to be there studying as well. He would cackle anytime you spoke, with you oblivious to him being there. When he made his presence known, you weren't even apologetic. Your crass, spunkiness, and proud of having no filter sparked his interest in you. Over the course of the semesters, you two hit it off quite well.
Takahide had dreams, dreams you never thought you'd fit in to that well. That night replayed in your mind, you could still hear the rainfall, the look on his face when you ended it after years of being his. Sheer Heartbreak filled his once hopeful eyes. You knew that if you didn't let him go, he'd stay. He'd throw out his dreams just to be with you. All you wanted was for him to succeed. To grow and chase after his biggest dream, oblivious that you were it.
“Y/n,” your friends voice brought you back to the present, “the racers are so godlike. How are they real?”
She wrapped her arm around yours as you both proceeded to your seats. The tickets she bought were right by the racers. An ounce of you wanted him to notice you, but another part couldn't fathom the possible heartbreak on his face again. Shuffling through your purse you grabbed your shades. Among the racers standing around, Ryu was noticeable, his best friend all through school. It was great they both pursued racing, it was only natural that they’d be together.
Just as you wished, and didn’t want to happen, Takahide looked over in your direction. He nodded at you making your heart stop once more. Suddenly, your friends fist went right into your knee. She saw him look over at you excitedly, unbeknownst to her, your history together.
“Fuck Mia, that kind of hurt,” you rubbed your knee.
“Sorry y/n, but he's looking right at you!”
“Keep it down,” you looked away trying to find someone else to catch your eyes.
When you looked back over, he was still watching you. It was almost like fate set you both up to be around each other after all these years. All of them lined up next to their cars getting ready to start the race. Taka jumped into his car buckling the belt, as you nervously watched. The car he was in was so fitting for him, but he made the car look good in your eyes. You clenched the brochure, scooting up to the front of the bench, awaiting the flag to be dropped. Once they revved up and took off, you jumped up cheering him on. You weren’t so sure if he could see you, but you cheered loud and proudly.
They made their laps as Taka had taken the lead. With no less than your heart beating so hard, and your adrenaline rushing for him and you both. His car zoomed right past your seats hitting the finish line first. It was absolutely amazing to be witnessing this; especially to witness Takahide in his zone. You were truly happy for him and the success he had found. It was nightfall before the races had ended, with Takahide being named the winner of the race.
“Y/n, I hope you’re not leaving without saying hi and goodbye.”
You and Mia stood up to leave as you heard your name being shouted. Quickly, you turned around seeing Takahide on the other side of the fence. You paused a moment sharing glances amongst him and Mia. Finally, you decided to go talk to him. You owed it to him after all these years.
“Congratulations Taka, I’m proud of you.”
He was taller than you remembered. Boy was he taller. He pointed to a break in the fence for you and Mia to come through, to be on the track with him and the others. You obliged, Mia trying to keep up with your pace.
“You look good y/n. What have you been up to?”
“Just working lately, not much beyond that.”
“What do you do?” He asked extending his hand out so you could grab it for support as you stepped off the ledge.
“We’re Physical Therapy technicians. Mia and I graduated from the same school.”
“It’s nice to meet you Mia,” He introduced himself.
The three of you walked over to his car as it was even prettier up close.
“Is that a Lamborghini Taka?”
“Close, it’s a Ferrari,” He chuckled at your non-existent knowledge of exotic cars.
Your cheeks filled with blush, giving an embarrassing smile. Even though you weren't knowledgeable about cars, he didn't make you sound like an idiot. His personality was still the same as old times. He talked about his family and how he and Ryu got into the racing gig after High-school. It was an outlet for him. The other racers wanted to go out and celebrate, so you thought it was your cue to leave. Just as you started saying goodbye, he looked over to you.
“Would you and Mia like to join us?”
“Oh I’m not so sure about that. This is your celebration Taka, you go enjoy.”
“What if I insist?” He wasn't planning on taking no for an answer.
You stopped and looked for Mia to say something, but you noticed Ryu caught her eye. This was going to be a losing battle.
“Fine, we’ll go.”
“Do you need a ride?” He walked over to the driver's door awaiting your answer.
“Uhm y/n, we took an Uber. How about you ride with him and I'll see if his delectable friend will let me ride with him.”
You laughed placing your face in your hands. Ryu was about to have a whole problem. Just from her reactions, she was already in love and probably planning their wedding. You couldn’t blame her though, Ryu was her type. It was funny trying to imagine how she would’ve reacted to him in school, if she was your classmate.
You walked over to the Ferrari admiring it. “Is this street legal?”
He looked over at you smiling, “Sometimes. Would you like to go around the track?”
You buckled the seat belt, contemplating his question. He felt you took too long to answer, so he just took off.
“Taka!” your hands automatically went to the dash to brace yourself. You weren’t amused at the slightest at first, but then a a rush came over you. It was truly exhilarating. He was careful not to scare you too bad, but laughed at your reactions.
Takahide was still mischievous, which made you happy. That was one of the things that you loved about him when you two dated. After a lap around the track, he and the others took off in the direction of the restaurant.
“It’s thrilling isn’t it?” he looked over at you.
All you could do was smile. A wave of sadness filled you suddenly, bringing you back. You never got over the breakup with him. It was true that you let him go for his own good, but your heart went with him. You focused on school after that, you didn't have any want of somebody else. In the back of your mind, it confused you. Why he didn’t hate you for that day. It was clear he moved on, but you never did. Taka noticed your sudden change of expression, he decided to pull over.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing Taka, just go,” you didn’t want to ruin his night full of happiness.
“I’m not going anywhere until you talk to me.”
There it was, his stubborn side. The side that wasn’t prominent back then. It had plenty of time to flourish over the course of the years. You unbuckled as you got out of his car, needing fresh air. The wind was blowing calmly. He followed you grabbing your arm to face him.
“I don’t want to talk about it Taka,” you tried to remove your arm from his grip.
“What did I do to upset you this time Y/n? I’m not a mind reader, I can’t fix what I don’t know to be broken.”
“It’s not what you said or did,” you paced.
“Then what is it? Do you dislike me that much, that you can’t even be in the same car as me?”
“That’s not it.”
“Then what is it?” The volume of his voice got a little louder, filled with a mixture of confusion and sadness.
“Being with you again, makes me realize the mistake I made Taka. You moved on, I never could.”
“I never moved on, y/n. That’s the last thing I’ve done. Every day after you decided you didn’t want me anymore, I had to find something to fill my void. I tried to skateboard, play soccer. Nothing could erase you from my memory. I found racing to fill my void because that day, my biggest dream turned into the biggest nightmare. The rush I get from racing helps me cope for the short amount of time I'm behind the wheel. So don't tell me I moved on!”
You were frozen hearing his words. All this time you thought you did a favor for him, but you did the exact opposite.
“I’m sorry Taka, I just wanted to see you succeed. I knew if I didn’t make that leap, you would never get out of that run down town. That I’d be holding you back, and I couldn’t be the reason.”
“You were wrong y/n, I would have done everything in my power to take you with me. I loved you. Loved being with you. When you left me, you took my heart with you.”
Rain started falling as it fit the mood. It was ironic that it happened just as it did that solemn day.
“I’m sorry Takahide. I'm extremely sorry for what I put you through.”
He looked away momentarily, before dropping his head. Not meaning to, but it seemed like you broke him once more.
“That doesn't matter anymore. Will you please get in the car, and let me take you to where you prefer to go?”
You nodded your head as he opened the door for you. Regardless that you managed to hurt him again, he was still soft to you. The ride to your house was quiet, which made it seem longer than it actually was. He pulled up getting out, just to let you out. When you gathered the words to say, he already hopped back in. The feeling in your gut was the worst you'd felt in a long time, seeing his tail lights in the distance. There was no exchange or schedule to catch up, so there were words left unsaid. Just the impending sadness that you thought you finally got rid of.
Once you got inside your house, you poured a drink. His words swam inside your brain so casually, it was hard for you to think straight. Just as you sat down to watch a show to unwind and attempt to forget tonight, a knock befell your door. Figuring it was Mia, you quickly answered. To your dismay, it was Takahide. He was soaked, almost like he had stood outside for a while before making the decision to face you again. The drink you had in your hand dropped, glass shattering everywhere.
“I love you. I never stopped loving you. I can't have you thinking I moved on. I want to show you something,” he grabbed your hand leading you to his car.
You quickly became drenched but owed it to him after all this time to see what he wanted to show you. When you stopped, you noticed his license plate. It was the date you both met. He pulled you back to the front as he opened the car door. On the headrest, he had your anniversary day embroidered into the leather. These were small details you missed. Details that would have deterred you from freaking out in the first place.
“Taka,” you brought your hand up clutching your heart.
“I don't care at this point if you don't feel the same, but I had to show you this,” he let go of your hand. “You were the only dream I had come true.”
You wrapped him up in a hug as you cried into his chest. Takahide's gentle nature made him who he was. He returned the hug resting his head on yours.
“I know I have no right to ask for your forgiveness, but I'm truly sorry.”
You felt his hand gently rest under your chin as he lifted your face, looking deeply into your eyes. He kissed you softly. Even after all these years, the way he kissed you remained the same. When he pulled his lips away from yours, he wiped your tears that were still falling.
“Y/n, the only way I will ever be successful is if you are by my side. Can we start over?”
You grabbed his hand, “Yes we can. I love you too.”
For the first time in forever, your dreams came true.

My Galaxy
My galaxy, one-shot by Eribin
Tumblr media
A/N: hi! This is Eribin. I am not a real writer, doing this as my past time. English is not my first language so bear with my English. There’s a lot of grammatical and typographical errors. This is just a fiction from my delusions 😆 this was inspired by the song Hitomi no naka no Galaxy by Arashi. I suggest to listen to that song while reading.
CAST:
ICCHAN (ITSUKI FUJIWARA) DIANE (Y/N)
Tumblr media
ITSUKI'S POV
We were sitting next to each other on the rooftop of the hospital, stargazing. Her head was on my left shoulder, and she was holding my hand. It's almost midnight, but we don't care. We’re here since sunset. We want to have this moment alone, and this might be our last moment together.
"The sky, the galaxy, is so peaceful," she murmurs. She was tired from crying earlier.
"They shine like your eyes, Diane," I said, tightening the hold of her hands. Her hands look small and delicate in my hands. If only i can hold it forever
"It looks like wishing on the shooting stars is a scam," she said and laughed. a sweet laugh that I will definitely miss. "I wish they spared me more time to be with you, Icchan. I feel guilty for hiding our relationship all these years," she added while playing with my hands. This made me teary-eyed, so I looked away so she wouldn't see my face. I am embarrassed to cry in front of her at this moment. I need to look strong in front of her.
"Diane, you should not feel guilty. I am genuinely happy in our relationship," I said as I wiped away the tears coming from my eyes with my other hands. She moved a little away from me and smiled at me. A sweet and big smile
"I was thinking, If we wished for the shooting star, was it just fleeting? Billions of wishes were fleeting in the galaxy. Shooting stars disappeared into endless space. So, probably our wishes were left behind and just fleeting. Hahahaha. That's why my only wish was never granted," she said, and you can hint at sadness in her voice.
Actually, I don't know what to say. Diane loves astronomy, and I didn't before. We talked about planets, comets, theories, and other stuff for hours. I am not complaining. She's fun to be with and to talk to. You can actually learn something interesting from being with her.
Tumblr media
"Icchan, thank you for making me the happiest girl alive right now. Being with you is the best feeling I've experienced. Thank you for making me experience how to love and to be loved. I wish you real happiness and am sorry for breaking your heart. I am guilty for leaving you miserable. Allow your heart to heal and to love again. I am really sorry, Icchan. Days from now or even hours, I might not be here with--" I stopped her by sealing our lips. When our lips parted, I closed my eyes to prevent my tears from falling. Diane has congenital heart defects. And it's not curable. I knew from the start that she had this disease. Her parents prevented her from having a boyfriend because of her condition, but we fought it. We fight it for love. After almost 3 years of relationship, we learn to love each other unconditionally to the point that I want to spend the rest of my life with her, but destiny is not on our side.
"Don't say that, Diane, please. I'm begging you; don't make this so hard for me," I said while our foreheads touched. Just thinking of my life without her, it's sad and horrible.
Tumblr media
"I love you, Icchan. You're absolutely wonderful. You deserve all the good things in this world," she said, cupping my face. I closed my eyes and felt her touch. "I'm sorry, Icchan, for leaving you. I really am," she added.
"don't be sorry. I never regret the time we fought for our love. I love you, Diane, always and forever," I replied. I kissed her once again with care and longing. I will miss the taste of her lips. The mint lip balm. Her strawberry-scented shampoo. I will miss this feeling every time I am with her. She being talkative. Her sweetest smile. Her galaxy-like eyes shone the brightest. I will miss you, Diane.
Tumblr media
"I will surely become a star to watch over you, Icchan," she said when we parted and wiped each other's tears away. We smiled at each other, saying everything would be alright.
"When it's my time,I will search for you in the vast galaxy, Diane. I will search for you in the billion trillions of stars. I will also become a star next to you. I promise that to you," I said, another tear endlessly falling from our eyes. At that moment, we don't care about others. We care only about our hearts. She rested her head on my shoulder, and we watched the stars once again in the sky. It's beautiful, just like Diane. We talked about my future. She wants me to love again and have a family. A big family. I don't want to talk about it, but Diane insists. As we enjoyed gazing, we unexpectedly saw a shooting star.
"Did you see that, Diane? A shooting star," I said as I cried loudly. I know I am hopeless now, but I don't care. I felt that her head was getting heavier on my shoulder as her hand slowly fell to her side. I cried. "I wish that you will be safe on your next journey. Wait for me, Diane." At that moment, I wanted the time to stop for me to have more moments with her. I know that she's already tired and she don't want to be burden to us.
Tumblr media
Out of nowhere, her parents came to us, crying heavily. Her mother kneeled down to be on her level, while her father was just looked at her, try and hide their face so they can’t see that he's crying. The ache spreads out in my chest, it hurts seeing them like that.
I looked at the sky. I saw one star that shined the brightest. I smiled while crying.

Mieko was in a dance studio that she rented after a long day at high school. She was sweating from all of the dancing. She kept on missing steps here and there. Leaning against the mirror of the dance studio, she took a couple of sips of water. Everything was a mess. Nothing she does satisfied anyone, not her own parents, was satisfied with her achievements.
"What a mess," she muttered while looking at the ceiling of the dance studio. She stood up from the floor and turned on the music again so loud that she couldn't hear anything. She danced to the music without realizing someone quietly entered the room. They watched her quietly.
the rest is under the cut
She danced elegantly and perfectly, but to her, it's not elegant enough or perfect enough. She plopped, just laying on the cold floor while catching her breath after another practice. "Mieko! Are you okay?" The person asked, running towards her.
She was surprised to see her best friend in the room without her noticing him. "Hirota, I'm okay." She reassured her. She sat up, trying to push his hand away from her. He didn't budge at all. Not even a little bit. "Hirota! Hirota! Riki!" She called all of his names. "Maki!" He finally looked at her with worries in his eyes. "I'm fine, don't worry." She reassured him with a smile on her face. "No, you aren't fine. Are you hurt here? Or here?" He asked her.
She smiled and shook her head. "I'm not hurt anywhere. Don't worry." She told him again. Riki suddenly hugged her. She was kind of taken aback by the sudden hug. "You aren't hurt physically, but you are hurt mentally. You aren't fine, and it's okay. I am here now." He told her softly. She suddenly felt tears in her eyes before hugging him back. The hug was so warm and cozy just like she needed at the moment.
They hugged a bit longer before Riki broke the hug. "Mieko, do you want to go see the full moon?" He asked her after remembering it. He wanted to see it with her since it was their little thing when they were 6 years old. "There's a full moon?" She asked as her eyes glittered like the moonlight. He nodded, and she quickly got up from the floor. She quickly packed up while he was still on the floor.
"Come! What are you waiting for?!" She asked with excitement. He smiled and got up from the floor. They walked to the beach and saw the sun was setting. Mieko quickly dropped her school bag on the sand and then took off her shoes before running to the ocean. Riki watched her with a smile as he took her abandoned shoes and bag off the sand. He put down a towel that he brought with him and set them down on it. Then he took off his own shoes and put down his bag before running towards her.
"Hurry up!" She told him as she put her legs into the ocean just a little bit. Feeling the cold water around her legs, she giggled, and Riki joined her. They played in the ocean as the sun was slowly setting down. Then, after a few minutes of getting water and playing around, they sat down on the towel, watching the moon in the beautiful night sky.
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" She asked as she looked at the moon. "Yes, it is- It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my entire life." He stared at her instead of the moon with adoration in his eyes. Mieko didn't know he was staring at her since she was focused on looking at the moon and admiring it.
Then she turned to Riki. "Thank you for bringing me here, Riki." He smiled. "No problem." He took his phone out and saw it was 1 am. Turning to Mieko, he said, "Let's go home. It is getting late." She nodded and got up from the towel. They quickly packed up before they went to the sidewalk. The beach wasn't far from her house so they walked there first.
There was a comfortable silence between them as they walked. Riki noticed Mieko was shivering, so he took off his jacket and put it over her shoulders. She flinched a little when she felt something warm. She hesitantly reached for the thing that was on her shoulders. Before she looked at him. Who was behind her. "Aren't you cold?" She asked.
He shook his head. "I'm fine. You are colder than me." "Are you sure?" She asked with hesitation. He nodded and reassured her again. "I'm fine, don't worry." She then nodded and looked in front of her. Once they reached her house, they said their goodbyes.
They waved goodbye. Riki started walking away from her house until he remembered something. He turned around and saw Mieko was about to enter her house. He ran towards her before grabbing her hand and making her turn. She was surprised and almost fell but he caught her before she did. He then pulled her closer to him and kissed lightly on her forehead. "Good night, moonlight." He said before kissing the top of her hand lightly and letting go.
She was in a shocked state after what happened. She felt something so warm inside her stomach. As speechless as she was, she hastily went inside her house without saying anything to Riki. Not even a good night. Once she made it to her bed, she closed the door and crashed onto the floor. Covering her mouth in shock. The heart was pounding against her chest.
Riki chuckled a little bit as he watched her as she hastily rushed inside the house and closed the door behind her. He stared at her bedroom window one last time with a smile crept on his face before turning around and walking home.
She quickly got up and opened her window. She saw him walking away from her house. "Good night, Riki!" She quickly screamed, not caring as much if her neighbors or parents woke up, at least the moment. He turned around and smiled. The next words that came from his mouth made her world stop for a couple of minutes. "愛してる!"

I’ll Always Find You (Riku)
Tumblr media
Genre: Angst, dark, mafia, romance, fluff
Word Count: 11,979
Pairing: OC (Ana) x Riku
World: The Rampage
Prompts: Listed at the bottom because there’s so many lol (@whumptober)
A/N: This was written for @thistaleisabloodyone as a thank you for supplying me with the Yamasho/Ryu gifs I need in order to survive ♡ I hope you enjoy this! Also, writing in the second person is so engrained in my DNA at this point that I kept writing “you” instead of “she/her” lmao I think I caught them all, though.
Warnings: Blood, violence, murder
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━
Riku clenched his teeth, eyes narrowed as his fists made contact with the punching bag repeatedly. Rather than feeling better, each hit left him feeling more frustrated and tired. It had been days since he last slept because every time he closed his eyes, he could see his face.
“Damn it!” He scowled, punching the bag so hard that it dislodged from the ceiling, flopping pitifully to the ground. He was hit with a sudden wave of dizziness, making him sway where he stood, hand coming up to cover his eyes.
“Riku-san, are you okay?” Warm hands rested against his back to steady him.
A small smile came to his lips as he turned to face her. “I’m fine, Ana-chan.”
She frowned as her eyes scanned him, taking in how he was covered in sweat. Dark bags sat beneath tired eyes and his hair was a mess because he had run his hand through it several times in frustration. He felt exhausted, both mentally and physically.
She had known him long enough to know when he was lying. For the past few days, he’s been acting distracted, frustrated and even a bit worried. This concerned her, mostly because he was the type to keep things bottled up until they were ready to explode.
“You look awful.”
He chuckled softly. “Do you insult every guy like that?”
Her cheeks warmed up as she pouted at him. “You know what I meant. You look like you haven’t slept in weeks… Don’t push yourself too hard.”
Her concern warmed his heart and he nodded, a loving smile on his lips. “Don’t worry, love, I know my limits.”
“It’s getting pretty late, though.” She glanced at the clock as if to emphasize her point. It read 11:45. “You have a packed day tomorrow, you should really get some rest…”
His hands found her waist, pulling her close. “Are you going to make sure I get home safely?”
Her lips twitched upward, hand resting against his chest to keep some distance between them. His shirt was soaked, making her nose wrinkle. “Only if you take a shower first.”
He chuckled, pecking her on the forehead before heading into the locker room to take a shower. She waited for him patiently and he didn’t take too long, coming out in clean clothes and smelling faintly of strawberries.
“Ready to go?” he questioned, holding his hand out to her.
She smiled, slipping her hand into his with a nod. As the two of them headed out into the cool autumn night, she kept throwing glances at him. She wanted to ask again what was on his mind, not just because she wanted to try and help, but also because she wanted to feel like he trusted her.
The two of them had been dating in secret for several months now and yet, she knew he was keeping a part of himself hidden from her. To be fair, he kept it hidden from the other Rampage members, as well.
Riku wasn’t dumb. He saw the way she watched him with a furrowed brow and frown on her lips. He knew that she questioned his trust in her. It’s not like he didn’t want to tell her the truth, he truly did, yet he couldn’t bring himself to. It was such a dark, intimate part of his past that he was still struggling to come to terms with.
The thought of her finding out made his heart ache painfully within his chest. Would she look at him differently? Would she break up with him? Would she hate him? He released a shaky breath at the thought, gripping the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
Ana reached over, resting her hand atop his. Some of the tension left his body at her touch and he sent her a tired smile, slipping his hand into hers so he could lace their fingers together.
“When we get home, do you want to watch a movie?”
The answer was yes, of course, though she wanted to tell him he should go to sleep instead. She felt confident that he wouldn’t make it through the movie and she didn’t want him to fall asleep on the couch. Granted, it was a comfortable couch, but he had earned a nice, long sleep in his own bed.
“I’m actually feeling pretty sleepy. Can we just head to bed?” she asked, softly, hoping he wouldn’t catch on to what she was doing.
Whether he did or not, he didn’t show it. “That sounds good, love.”
When the two of them finally made it back to his apartment, she took a quick shower before joining him in the bedroom. He was barely keeping himself away, eyes half-lidded as he waited on her. She chuckled softly as she slid under the comforter, brushing the hair from his eyes.
Riku pulled her against his chest, holding her tightly. “I love you, Ana-chan,” he mumbled tiredly.
“I love you, too,” she replied softly, nuzzling into his warm chest. A sudden feeling of anxiety overcame her and she had no idea why. “You’re my world, you know?” she whispered, believing him to be asleep already but he wasn’t, chuckling softly.
“And you’re mine.”
“Promise you’ll never leave?” She wasn’t quite sure why she asked this. He had become the single most important person in her life, though, and the thought of losing him had her on edge.
“I promise,” he breathed out, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
Though the feeling of dread didn’t disappear completely, it did lessen with his words, allowing her to follow him to dreamland.
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
Riku’s brow furrowed as he looked around, finding himself surrounded by darkness. “Hello? Ana-chan?” His voice echoed several times, though he received no response. His footsteps echoed as he started to walk in a random direction.
His breathing quickened as he broke out into a run, trying to find his way out of the inky blackness that was weighing down on him. A small white light appeared in the distance, growing bigger as he ran until it was so bright that he had to close his eyes.
The brightness faded and he was now standing in a familiar basement.
His eyes widened, heart racing within his chest as he took in the scene before him.
A young boy, no older than nineteen, was tied to a metal chair, his face bloody and bruised. He was sobbing, tears and snot running down his face as he begged for mercy. Standing to the right of him was an older man wearing a suit, his greying hair slicked back away from his eyes. He was frowning, deep wrinkles forming across his face.
His name was Hide and he was the current boss of the Gentride family.
This wasn’t the most shocking part to Riku, though.
Standing in front of the boy was a younger version of Riku, only nineteen years of age, with blood dripping from his clenched fist.
The man leaned toward the boy, narrowing his eyes. “We need the information, boy. Tell us where your father is hiding and we will let you go.”
The younger Riku grunted, folding his arms over his chest. “Mikaru won’t be happy to hear that, boss. He’s been waiting a long time to get his hands on this kid.”
“I know,” sighed the older man as he straightened his back. “He’s getting out of control. He’s lost sight of what our family is about and I fear…” He stopped himself, glancing at the young boy before deciding that now wasn’t the time to discuss this. “Where is your father, Matsuda?”
“I-I don’t know!” he sobbed, shaking his head.
“Hit him again, Riku.”
He did so without hesitation, making the boy cry out.
“Where?”
“Go to hell!”
“Hit him harder.”
Clenching his fist tightly, the younger Riku cocked his fist back.
The older Riku stepped forward, his lips parting to stop him but no sound escaped. He winced when the fist made contact again, making the chair, and the boy, topple over onto the floor.
He wanted to scream, but he couldn’t make a sound.
He wanted to cry, but they refused to fall.
Boss sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Release him, Riku.”
“What?” His head snapped toward the man in surprise. “Are you sure? We haven’t gotten anything out of him.”
“A loyal man will take the secrets of those he’s loyal to to the grave. No matter what you do to him, he will never give up what he knows.”
With a nod, the younger Riku did as he was ordered to do, cutting the robe that held Matsuda to the chair. “Get out of here.”
Matsuda looked at him suspiciously, one eye swollen shut. Without wasting another moment, he struggled to his feet and rushed from the room, his feet pounding on the wooden steps. He let out a sudden cry as he was pushed down the stairs, landing hard on the ground.
Both men’s attention snapped toward the door, eyes narrowed.
The older Riku knew what was about to happen and he shook his head, swallowing hard as he stepped back until he hit the wall.
Mikaru appeared at the bottom of the steps, a maniacal grin on his lips. “Oi, oi. You’re losin’ your touch, Riku, lettin’ this kid get away from you.” His eyes flickered to the knife in the male’s hand and then to the rope on the ground, clearly cut. The grin fell, darkness clouding his eyes.  “Oi, don’t tell me… you let him go.”
The two men exchanged a look, knowing what was coming.
Hide stepped forward. “I’ve decided to release him. We’ll gain more from -“
“Shut it, old man,” snapped Mikaru, eyes flashing with anger. “You’ve been losin’ your touch for years, now look at you! Lettin’ people go free like we’re a goddamn charity case! The other families’re gonna think we’re weak!”
Riku stepped forward, his eyes filled with anger as he clutched the knife. “Watch your tongue, Mikaru. He is our boss -“
“Oh shut it, you fuckin’ ass kisser.”
Matsuda used the distraction to his advantage, slowly crawling toward the stairs. In the blink of an eye, the blonde pulled a gun from the back of his jeans, putting a bullet in the side of the young boy’s head. He dropped against the floor, blood pooling beneath him.
The older Riku closed his eyes, hand covering his mouth as he tried to stop his body from shaking. He wanted to wake up from this nightmare.
“Mikaru, what are you -“
He raised the gun toward his boss and pulled the trigger. The older man tried to dodge but he wasn’t fast enough to avoid it completely, the bullet lodging into his shoulder. He stumbled back against the wall, teeth gritted.
“Boss!” Riku rushed over with wide eyes.
Mikaru pulled the trigger again but the gun jammed, making him curse as he hurriedly tried to fix it.
Hide pulled the gun from his hip, holding it out toward Riku.
He shook his head with wide eyes, knowing what the man wanted. “No, I… I can’t…”
“You must! You know the law of this family – whoever kills the boss, becomes the boss. You mustn’t let Mikaru take over! Promise me, Riku!”
He lifted a shaking hand, fingers curling around the metal. Making sure the safety was off, he lifted the gun and his thumb pulled the hammer back. “Boss, I…” his voice was trembling just like his hand.
“Do it!”
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, pulling the trigger and planting a bullet between his eyes.
“Son of a bitch!” cried Mikaru, finally getting his gun unjammed.
Riku was faster, though, shooting his hand.
He cried out, the gun clattering to the ground. “I’ll kill you -“
Riku pulled the trigger again, planting a bullet between his eyes. Falling to his knees, his shoulders trembled as he tried to shove down everything he was feeling. He had just murdered his boss, the man who had saved his life and took him under his wing. Hide protected him, taught him everything he knew and, most importantly, he showed him love.
The older Riku sank to his knees, tears sliding down his cheeks. His eyes were screwed shut, hands over his ears despite the silence that now permeated the room. After all these years, why was he dreaming about him now?
He felt like a scared little boy and he hated it, yet he had no idea how to make everything go away. All he wanted was everything to stop. He wanted to stop feeling all this regret and pain. He wanted to feel like he could breathe properly again.
More than anything, Riku wished he could change the past.
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
Ana was startled awake by Riku thrashing in his sleep, whimpering and begging for it all to stop. The sight knocked all sleepiness from her body and she quickly reached over, shaking his shoulder.
“Riku-kun, wake up.”
His fists clenched around the sheets so tightly that his knuckles turned pure white.
She frowned, resting her hand on his flushed cheek. “Baby, please wake up.”
Riku’s eyes snapped open and he sat up quickly, covered in sweat and gasping for air. His eyes were wide, wild, and unfocused as if part of him was still within his nightmare.
“Hey, are you -” she rested her hand on his shoulder but he slapped it away, eyes snapping to her. She swallowed hard, having never seen him in such a state. “It’s okay, it’s me. It was just a bad dream. You’re okay, Riku-kun.”
When she reached for his hand, he flinched away from her, slipping off the bed and tugging at the collar of his shirt because he felt like he couldn’t breathe. It felt as if a knot had formed within his chest, a lump in his throat that he couldn’t seem to swallow.
Ana was equal parts confused and concerned, not sure how to feel about how he was acting. “Do you… want to talk about it or do you want to be alone?”
“Alone,” he choked out, voice trembling as he placed his palms atop the dresser, lowering his head. He was losing control of the emotions he had been carefully keeping under lock and key for years and that’s not something he wanted her to see. “Please… just leave me alone.”
Her heart ached at his words but she tried to ignore the pain she was feeling. He was more important right now and if he wanted to be left alone, she would comply with the request. Sliding out of bed, she quickly got changed with the spare clothes she kept at his apartment before heading for the door.
Pausing, she bit her lip in consideration. Should she tell him she was leaving? Ask him if he was okay? No, she shook her head with a sigh, turning and leaving his apartment.
Glancing at her phone, she frowned at the time – 2:23 in the morning. Not exactly the best time to be walking home alone, but what choice did she have? She considered calling a taxi to come and pick her up only to realize she had left her wallet in Riku’s apartment. For a moment, she had an internal debate about whether or not she should go back only to decide that she didn’t want to bother him.
Taking a deep breath, she started down the street, hugging herself tightly when the wind picked up. It was cold out, the wind like ice against her exposed skin.
Fifteen minutes passed by without issue and she was getting close to her home now. Suddenly, she felt a chill go down her spine. It felt like someone was staring at her and she slowly glanced around, looking for the source. She saw no one around, the street eerily silent.
‘It’s probably just my imagination…’ Ana shook her head, exhaling nervously as she continued down the street. She increased her speed, trying to ignore the feeling of being watched. It only got worse, though, and she kept glancing over her shoulder.
The street was nearly pitch black, the moon covered by clouds. The street lamps were spaced far apart, their bulbs dull and doing little to pierce the darkness around her.
Within these shadows lurked a monster. Not one of fairy tales or legend, but a monster of flesh and bone. A monster with ill intent, willing to do anything to achieve its goal.
“Who’s there?” she called out before cursing herself. She had just done the very same thing she often scolded people for in movies. Asking who was there never worked out well for the person asking.
Honestly, she wasn’t sure what would be more unsettling – if someone actually answered or the dead silence she was currently experiencing.
Ana picked up her pace once more, nearly running now. Her heart was racing within her chest, alarm bells screaming at her to run away so she did. She ran as fast as she could, suddenly aware of boots slapping the pavement behind her. She was sure someone was chasing her but she was far too afraid to look behind her to confirm her fears.
She fumbled to pull her keys from her pocket, nearly dropping them in her haste. Her front door was in sight, so close now that she could touch the cold metal of the doorknob. As soon as the key slid into the lock, she felt something hard strike the back of her head.
Her body stilled, pain blooming from her skull as her vision blurred.
A male voice chuckled in amusement as she fell to the concrete below.  Through blurred eyes, she managed to get a look at her attacker. His dark eyes glinted dangerously in the low light from above the door. A jagged scar ran from the center of his forehead, curving down to the side of his nose before stopping beside his chin. The hood of his jacket cloaked his face in shadow and she realized he was dressed in all black.
This wasn’t a crime of opportunity. He hadn’t seen her walking alone at night  and decided to attack. No, he had been waiting, stalking from the shadows.
With a grin, he squatted down, reaching out to poke her in the forehead with his index finger. She noticed the fact that he was missing his pinkie and ring finger. “I’ve been waitin’ for ya, little bird.”
Her lips parted but the words died on her tongue. It was taking everything she had just to remain conscious, scared of what would come if she passed out.
“Don’t worry, girlie. We’re gonna have lots of fun together~” he laughed before cooking his fist back and slamming it against her face, the force great enough to finally knock the consciousness from her.
She fell limp against the cold ground and he grunted in satisfaction, grabbing her before tossing her over his shoulder as if she was nothing more than a bag of cat food. A black van pulled up beside him and he grabbed the handle, sliding the back door open before tossing her inside.
“Let’s go,” he ordered the driver as she hopped inside, pulling the door closed.
“Yes, boss!”
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
“Hey, you in there?”
Shockwaves of pain shot through Ana’s body, jolting her from unconsciousness as a cry left her lips. She tried to jerk away, but her body was tied to a metal chair, the thick rope digging into her arms and legs. Her entire body ached, the side of her face throbbing.
The sound of a cattle prod sparking made her tense up, eyes snapping forward. The man that had kidnapped her was standing over her, an enhanced cattle prod in hand and a malicious grin on his lips.
“Sleepin’ beauty finally woke up! Didn’t even need a kiss,” he snickered, making the prod spark again.
She swallowed hard, eyes flickering around the room. It was a dingy little basement, plastic sheets covering the walls and floor. Floodlights had been set up near the door, shining brightly on her. A second, older man was leaning against the wall, his arms folded over his chest as he glared at her.
“What…” She swallowed again, her mouth dry. “What do you want from me?”
“Oh darlin’,” soothed the man mockingly as he patted her cheek. Danger was clearly written there within his eyes and it was unsettling. “We don’t want you, we want your cute lil boyfriend. We want that bastard, Riku.”
Her eyes widened, the breath leaving her lungs. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t understand why they wanted him, she could only assume they wanted money. He was one of three faces of a very popular music group and the company would pay a lot of money for him.
Riku was no pushover, though. He was strong, filled with muscles after years of bouncing between boxing, martial arts and kickboxing. Of the three singers, he was the last person someone should attempt to kidnap for a ransom, so why had they chosen him?
‘Is it… my fault?’ The thought made her want to cry.
Hokuto and Kazuma were weaker than Riku, easier to take, but Riku had one weakness that they did not. Even not knowing that she and Riku were dating, it was clear that he cared deeply for her and would do anything for her.
While she had become a source of strength and comfort for him, she had also become his biggest weakness. She could only hope and pray that he wasn’t dumb enough to come for her.
“Aww, is the lil princess gonna cry?” asked the man with a mocking laugh. “Go on, it’ll make the call sound better!”
Her eyes fell to the cell phone he was holding, realizing it was her phone with Riku’s contact info pulled up. She struggled harder against her binds, throwing her body back and forth as she tried to loosen the ropes but they only seemed to tighten, digging roughly into her skin.
“Don’t move too much or ya might hurt yourself before I get to,” he snickered, pressing the call button. It rang and rang and rang.
With every moment that passed, his expression fell. She prayed to every God and deity she could think of that he wouldn’t answer the phone and, to her relief, it finally went to voice-mail.
The older man pushed away from the wall, anger flashing through his eyes. “Did you grab the wrong girl, you idiot?!”
The young male’s eyes darkened as he turned toward him, the cattle prod sparking menacingly. “Don’t forget your place, Madaira. I am in charge here, not you, and if you ever speak to me like that again, I will fuckin’ kill you. You can finally be reunited with your precious boy.”
Madaira narrowed his eyes, fists clenched at his sides. “Don’t bring my son into this, Mikaru.”
Before he could reply, Ana’s phone started to ring. She shook her head, eyes wide as her body trembled against the ropes. Mikaru just grinned, showing her the called ID – it was Riku.
“Please don’t…” her pleas fell on deaf ears as he answered the call, Riku’s voice filling the basement.
“Hey, Ana-chan.” His voice was soft, though she couldn’t tell if he was tired or still recovering from his nightmare. “I’m sorry, I… I was really rude to you last night. Can you forgive me?“
Mikaru made his voice higher pitched, trying to imitate Ana. “Oh, sweetie, of course I can!”
There was silence on the line for a moment. When he spoke again, his tone was darker and more alert. “Who the fuck is this? Why do you have Ana’s phone?“
“Karma’s come to collect what’s due, Riku.” He used his normal voice now, a grin on his lips. “I have your cute lil girlfriend. Why don’t you say hi, Ana-chan?”
Hearing her name spoken by him made her feel sick to her stomach. She pursed her lips, eyes narrowed at him in defiance. Perhaps if she remained silent, Riku wouldn’t believe him and would remain safe. She didn’t care what happened to her so long as he was okay.
Mikaru scowled in annoyance. “You really know how to pick ’em, don’t you? She’s just as stubborn as you!” The cattle prod was thrust against her stomach, electricity sparking against her shirt.
She tried hard to remain quiet but a cry of pain left her lips and she started to struggle again, trying to put distance between herself and the object causing her pain.
“Ana-chan!” cried Riku in alarm. “Who the fuck are you? I swear to God if you hurt her, I’ll kill you!“
“Ooo, the idol is starting to show his true self, hm?” snickered Mikaru, a glint in his dark eyes. “If you want your girl back, then I suggest you get your ass over to the place where you became the boss of the Gentride family.”
Riku sucked in a breath, voice trembling. “What –“
The call was ended before Mikaru threw the phone against the wall, smashing it into pieces. He grabbed a metal folding chair, setting it in front of her before relaxing in it as if he hadn’t just kidnapped someone.
“Tell me, girlie, just how much do you know about your lil boyfriend, hm?”
She glared at him through teary eyes, left over from the previous shock.
“My guess is – nothin’. Knowing that idiot, he bottled it all up inside so he could live a ‘normal’ life,” he spat, acting as if it was the most disgusting thing he had ever heard. “Want me to tell ya?”
She scoffed,  turning her head away from him.
He just chuckled, leaning forward on his elbows. “Your precious lil boyfriend is part of the Yakuza.”
Her eyes widened in shock, body tensing. ‘No way, Riku would never…’
“He’s a murderer.”
“You’re a liar!” she snapped angrily, eyes flashing with anger as she glared at him. “Riku is not a murderer!”
“He murdered my son!” snapped Madaira, taking a step toward her. “They wanted me, but I was hiding. I… I never thought they’d kill my boy… they were supposed to be better than that… they… they…” His shoulders shook, tears gathering in his eyes behind his glasses.
Mikaru sent him a fake sympathetic look before nodding. “It’s true. I was there. How do you think I lost my fingers?” He held up his hand, giving her a better look at the two missing digits. “He shot them off before plantin’ one in my skull. Doctors said it was a miracle I survived.” His voice darkened as he tilted his head. “A miracle indeed.”
“You expect me to believe this nonsense?” she scoffed, though even she could hear the lack of confidence in her tone.
Without a word, the male stood up from the chair, disappearing behind her.
She turned her head, body tense as she tried to see what he was doing but she could only just see him from the corner of her eye. A moment later, he returned, pushing a cart with a small TV on top of it.
“I didn’t figure you’d believe me, so I prepared a lil somethin’ for you.”
The TV flickered on, showing a still image of the very same room Ana was being held in. At first, she thought it was a security feed but then she realized she wasn’t seeing herself or Mikaru, she was seeing Riku standing over an older man.
“Watch closely, girlie.” Mikaru sent her a grin before pressing play on the remote.
Ana watched on in horror as Riku lifted the gun, shooting the man in the forehead. The video was rewound, showing the scene again and again. Tears pooled in her eyes, sliding down her cheeks. She wanted desperately to look away but she couldn’t seem to tear her eyes away from the screen.
“See, there’s a law within the Gentride family, one that’s been passed down for hundreds of generations.” Mikaru walked behind the cart, sprawling his body over the TV. “Whoever kills the boss, becomes the boss. Riku was always power-hungry, you know?”
She shook her head in disbelief but her voice failed her, eyes still trained on the screen.
“Boss realized this so he skipped over Riku. He chose me to be the new boss when he retired and Riku lost it. It should have been me, but that bastard killed the boss so he could take over and when I tried to stop ’em…” he held up his hand again, observing it curiously. “Well, you know.”
She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. The Riku she knew was kind and loving. He cared about the people in his life and he worked harder than anyone she knew in order to achieve his goals. He wanted to be a singer, to reach people’s hearts with his music. Now, she’s supposed to believe that he’s not only part of the mafia but the boss?
The proof was there, though, right in front of her eyes. Riku murdered that man, that was undeniable, but she refused to believe that he had done so simply to gain power. He just wasn’t that kind of man.
The door was suddenly kicked open, Riku breathing heavily in the doorway. His eyes fell on Ana, multiple emotions flickering through his eyes. He was relieved to see her alive, though he was filled with guilt knowing that she had been taken because of him. Anger was the most powerful emotion he was feeling.
His fists clenched at his sides, brass knuckles in his right hand. His eyes fell on Mikaru and it took him a minute to recognize the younger man. “How are you…”
“Alive?” finished the male, slapping the prod against his palm. “Considering how many people you’ve killed, one would think you’d be better at it, mate. Guess this is proof that I was always meant to be the boss.”
Riku scoffed in disbelief. “You never deserved to lead. Everyone knew that. Boss was willing to die just to make sure you didn’t get your filthy hands on his family.”
Anger flashed through Mikaru’s eyes, teeth clenched. “He ruined us! He went soft and ruined everythin’ we once stood for! We were strong, powerful! People feared us! And then you came along and boss went all soft. You ruined this family, then you killed our boss and ran away like the coward you are.”
Riku’s eyes met hers before softening. “I promise you, Ana-chan, everything will be okay.”
“Don’t you ignore me!” yelled Mikaru as he rushed toward the male, prod sparking.
“Riku, run!” She begged, tears gathering in her eyes again as she fought against her bonds. Adrenaline overshadowed the pain but she wasn’t strong enough to break free, the ropes were just too thick.
Riku didn’t run, though. He met Mikaru head-on, the two beginning to exchange blows. The prod was shoved against Riku’s side and he gritted his teeth against the pain before he grabbed the center of it, yanking it from Mikaru’s grip. It was thrown across the room, skittering across the clear sheet that covered the floor.
“You will regret touching her,” growled Riku, anger flashing through his eyes.
Mikaru wasn’t intimidated as he cried out, “I’m going to kill you!”
His fist shot toward the brunette’s face, Riku dodging it easily before returning the blow, brass knuckles hitting him square in the gut. His eyes were dark, voice filled with malice. “I’ll make sure you’re actually dead this time.” Pulling his fist back, he slammed the brass knuckles against Mikaru’s face.
Ana winced at the sound of his nose breaking, turning away when blood started to gush from his face. He cried out in pain, stumbling backward. His foot got caught on the plastic sheet and he fell onto his back, sliding backward as Riku slowly approached.
His voice was nasily now, a grin on his lips despite the pain. “Go ahead. Show your lil girlfriend the kind of monster you truly are!”
Riku paused at this, suddenly aware of her eyes on him. He never wanted this.
From the moment he first met her, she became his found family. After the death of his boss, he never thought he would ever find peace again, but he found it in her. She was his peace, acting as a shield against all the negative thoughts and feelings that usually plagued his mind.
She was the love of his life, the one person he never wanted to lose and now… now she was hurt because of him. What had Mikaru told her? He didn’t know and he was too afraid to look at her. He knew he would break down if her eyes held fear or disgust toward him.
Mikaru threw his head back, laughter echoing through the basement. “Oh, don’t worry pretty boy, she already knows! I showed her.”
“What?” His brow furrowed and he found himself swallowing hard, his mouth dry. “What are you on about, Mikaru?”
“Did you forget about the security cameras? Boss always did love to revisit his tortures. He got off to ’em, you know.”
Riku’s eyes snapped to the small camera that sat in the corner of the ceiling, pointed right at him. The red light was not on, the lens shattered and wires dangling from the bottom of it. It no longer functioned, but he remembered glancing at it back then to ensure that the red light was on.
Realization flooded him, dread weighing heavily on his shoulders. “No…”
“She watched you put a bullet between the old man’s eyes,” he cackled. “You shoulda seen the look on -“
Something snapped within him and he darted forward, planting his body on top of Mikaru’s so he couldn’t escape. His fists hit him repeatedly in the face, blood splattering across Riku’s face and clothes.
Ana watched on in horror. ‘He… he’s actually going to kill him…’ Her lips parted, wanting desperately to tell him to stop but the words just wouldn’t come.
“Monster…” said Madaira shakily as he took a step back. His eyes flickered to the open door, prepared to flee until he saw a flash of his son’s bloody, bruised face. Fear morphed into anger as he pulled a knife from his pocket.
Her eyes widened. “Riku, watch out!”
Riku was too focused, too angry to hear her cry or to hear his hurried footsteps as he ran toward him. Only when he felt the blade plunge into his shoulder did he snap out of it, wincing in pain. With a scowl, he stood to his full height, pulling the knife from his skin and turning to face the older man.
Madaira gulped fearfully as he stumbled back until he was flush against the support beam. Despite his fear, he spoke up. “Go ahead and kill me. Let me finally be with my boy!” Tears gathered in his eyes from behind his glasses. “You killed him and now you’re going to kill me.”
Riku’s brow furrowed. “Your son?”
He scoffed in disbelief, removing his glasses. “You don’t even remember his name? I’m not surprised, you monster! His name was Matsuda, you bastard!” With a war cry, he ran toward Riku with his fist raised.
Riku was easily stronger than him, shoving the man back against the beam, little pieces of dust falling from the ceiling. “Mikaru lied to you. I didn’t kill your son, he did!”
“Bullshit!” He rushed at him again but the result was the same, more dust floating down on top of him.
“He lied about everything!” snapped Riku, his voice desperate. Though he was looking at Madaira, Ana knew he was talking to her. “Mikaru is the one who killed your son. We were letting Matsuda go and he didn’t like that.”
“You… you’re lying,” breathed Madaira, his glassy eyes flickering between Riku and the fallen man. His eyes suddenly widened and he ducked to the side just as Mikaru tackled Riku from behind.
The force was enough to send him forward, slamming into the beam, the wood beginning to splinter from the abuse. Riku grunted, pushing away from the beam so he could turn and punch the younger male. He managed to dodge the blow but Riku grabbed him, shoving him against the beam before cocking his fist back.
Mikaru slid down at the last second, the brass knuckles making contact with the beam. It easily broke through, the wood cracking and splintering. The ceiling shook, large amounts of dust and dirt falling onto all of them. With a grin, he grabbed the prod off the ground and shoved it hard into another beam.
Riku realized what he was doing and darted toward him. It was too late, the wood creaking pitifully as it started to give way under the weight of the ceiling. He cursed as Mikaru rushed toward the door, his mind telling him to give chase and finally end the man’s life.
His heart, on the other hand, was telling him to save Ana and that’s exactly what he chose to do. As he rushed over to her, a chunk of ceiling gave way directly above her. She cried out, closing her eyes as she waited for the blow to her head. Riku tackled her, both of them hitting the ground.
A cry of pain left her as the concrete fell onto her legs, pinning the lower half of her body and the chair. Her right shoulder had taken the brunt of the fall and she was sure her arm was broken. Her body was filled with so much pain that her brain was struggling to decide which pain to focus on.
Riku covered the upper half of her body with his own until the debris stopped falling and the room fell silent.
He shifted to undo the knot in the rope and when Ana tried to push herself up, she cried out in pain, her arm giving out beneath her. It hurt like a bitch.
“I think it’s broken,” she muttered before turning her attention to the concrete resting over her legs. She tried to push it away but it was heavy and she just didn’t have the strength at that moment.
Riku quickly crawled over so he could remove it, a deep frown on his lips. “Are you okay, Ana-chan?” He mentally slapped himself for asking, knowing that it was a dumb question.
She honestly didn’t know how to answer that because she didn’t know how she was feeling. She was just so overwhelmed by everything and wanted to go home. “I’m fine,” she finally muttered under her breath, carefully cradling her broken arm.
Riku tugged his shirt over his head so he could rip it into strips. Despite everything, she couldn’t help but admire his body. He worked hard to be sculpted like a god and his efforts certainly paid off.
He seemed to hesitate for a moment before slowly moving closer as if worried he was going to scare her. As he carefully put her arm into the makeshift sling, she couldn’t help but admire his body.
He wasn’t a shy man by any means, being one of the top Rampage members who often went shirtless during concerts. Now, though, in a small room alone with his girlfriend, he couldn’t help but feel self-conscious. He could feel her eyes raking over his body, taking in every scar that littered his skin.
Concerts were often dark with lots of flashing lights and those attending were far enough away from the stage that his scars went unnoticed. The basement was  rightly lit, though, even with half the roof collapsed, thanks to the bright floodlights. She was also sitting just inches away from him so he couldn’t hide.
Without thinking, her uninjured arm lifted, fingers brushing against a particularly long scar that ran from the bottom of his ribs to the center of his right breast. His body tensed as he sucked in a breath, pausing his ministrations.
Perhaps she should have stopped and apologized, but she felt entranced by them and she couldn’t stop her fingers running across his skin, drawing tiny stars across each one. He swallowed hard, shoving her hand away before sliding backward, trying to hide them with his arms. He hadn’t considered them when he took his shirt off, focused only on helping her, but now he was starting to regret it.
“Riku, let me see them,” she called softly, a frown on her lips. “You don’t have to hide them.”
“They’re ugly,” he muttered, eyes narrowed at the ground.
“They’re not.” Ana closed the distance, using her uninjured arm to tug his own away from his body. “Every scar tells a story. They’re part of who you are, they remind you of how you got here. They’re lessons to not repeat your mistakes and they’re motivation to keep being better.”
Riku slowly turned his head to face her, his eyes meeting hers. She had never seen him look so broken before and it broke her heart. “Do you…” he started softly before biting his lip. She waited patiently for him to find the words. “Do you hate me?”
“No,” she replied without hesitation which surprised him. Her hand cupped his cheek, thumb rubbing across his skin gently. “I’m very confused right now, I’ll admit that, but… I could never hate you. I love you, Riku.”
The breath was stolen from his lungs at her words and he threw his arms around her, careful of her arm as he held her tightly. He didn’t know what to say, though he felt worried that she would change her mind once she had time to reflect on everything that had happened.
Ana hugged him back, comforted by the warmth he offered. Her fingers combed through his hair, hoping she could offer him comfort, as well. Several minutes passed by in silence as the two of them embraced, neither wanting to let go. Both of them knew that everything would change as soon as they did.
Riku wouldn’t just be a member of the Rampage to her anymore, he would be a member of the yakuza with blood on his hands. It was the harsh reality that both of them would have to face, whether they wanted to or not.

Because of her broken arm, Ana was given a week off from work to rest and recover. This was forced on her by her manager at Riku’s insistence despite her claiming that she was perfectly fine. More than anything, she was afraid of being away from Riku.
That feeling of dread had returned and she couldn’t seem to shake it. She assumed it was just trauma from what had occurred and she had to admit that she was still jumpy after everything. Her body would heal long before her mind would but she was trying her hardest to keep it together.
Her broken arm was a constant reminder, though, and every time she closed her eyes, she would see Mikaru’s grinning face in her mind. She would often dream of Riku shooting his boss, as well.
For all her suffering, Riku was much worse off.
He stopped eating and sleeping, throwing himself into practice to try and escape his shaky reality. As bad as he wanted to be by her side, he couldn’t bring himself to because of the guilt. She had nearly died because of him yet she treated him no differently.
He hated it.
He wanted her to yell at him, to scream at him for what he did to her. He wanted her to demand answers, to demand an apology. It would be so much easier if she just hated him as much as he hated himself. Ana wasn’t like that, though. She preferred to see the good in people rather than the bad.
Personally, he didn’t believe there was any good left in him and if there was, surely it was hidden by the darkness of all the bad he’s done. He couldn’t wrap his mind around it. More importantly, he refused to believe that he deserved her.
To some degree, Ana realized this and she wanted to change his mind, to let him know that he was deserving of love. He did deserve to be with her, to be happy and feel loved and supported. How could she, though, when he was avoiding her?
When her phone lit up, she hurriedly grabbed it off the couch in the hopes that Riku had finally responded to her messages. She ended up scowling when she realized it was just a notification for some junk mail. Should she message again? Perhaps he just didn’t hear the notification and messaging once more would get his attention.
She didn’t want to annoy him, though.
Instead, she decided to ring up Zin and subtly ask how everyone was. He didn’t know about the relationship so he wouldn’t be suspicious if she asked about Riku as long as she also asked about the others.
Unlike Riku, he answered fairly quickly. “Ana-chan~ How are you feeling?“
She glanced at her arm and frowned. It was set in a cast and sling, a constant reminder that she could have been killed. “I’m fine, just wanted to check in with everyone.”
He chuckled softly. “You’re the one that’s injured yet you’re worried about us? Don’t worry, we aren’t working too hard.“
“How’s Kazu? I know he wasn’t feeling well.”
“Likiya made him drink some herbal tea and he’s feeling better.“
“That’s good to hear.” She bit her lip, wondering if it was too soon to mention Riku. “What about Ryu? Is he still struggling with the choreo?”
“He’s slowly getting the hang of it. Takahide and Kenta have been running him through it whenever he stumbles.“
“And Riku? He seemed… distracted before I left.”
There was silence on the other end of the line before he spoke again, concern in his tone. “I thought he was with you.“
“Huh?”
“He said he was going to go check on you thirty minutes ago… did he not –“
Without a word, Ana hung up the phone and rushed from the house. Her heart was racing within her chest as she ran down the street toward Riku’s apartment, fear and dread settling in her gut. Zin kept calling and texting, clearly concerned about both her and his bandmate, but she ignored him, far too focused on finding her boyfriend.
“Riku!” Her fist pounded on his apartment door before she paused to listen for any sound of movement. It was dead silent inside which did little to ease her anxiety. Her fingers wrapped around the doorknob, sure that it would be locked.
To her surprise, it clicked as she turned it, allowing her to push the door open. She burst into the apartment, calling out his name only to receive no response. She ran from room to room, checking each one for any sign of him but there was none. Cursing, she started for the front door only to pause when she caught sight of a thick white envelope sitting on the table.
Ana wasn’t usually the type of person to go through other people’s things, but what if it held a clue as to where he had gone? When she got closer, she realized her name had been scrawled onto it in Riku’s beautiful, unmistakable handwriting. He had left this for her.
Her heart pounded in her ears as she opened it and she had to take a deep breath to calm herself before beginning to read.
『My dearest Ana-chan,
I’m sorry for what you went through because of me. I never wanted you to know the truth about me and I was foolish enough to believe that I could live a normal life with you and the Rampage. As if I deserve such a thing after everything I’ve done…
Because of my neglect, my past came back with a vengeance and you’re the one who suffered. I’ve been selfish, putting all of you at risk because I wanted to hide from who I am. My boss used to tell me that, ‘No matter how far you run, your past and your choices will always catch up to you. We must face our mistakes head-on or risk those mistakes coming back to hurt the people we love.’
He’s right. He’s always been right. I have to face who I am, what I am, and I have to take responsibility.
Thank you for loving me, Ana-chan. Words can’t express how happy you’ve made me and I can never apologize enough for ruining your life. Please… please just forget that you ever met me. Move on with your life and find happiness.
I didn’t say it as often as I should have, but I truly do love you. I’ve loved you since the moment we met and I’ll continue loving you until the day I die.
I’ll leave it up to you whether or not you tell the Rampage the truth about me, but I ask that you let them know that I love them. I hold my memories close to my heart and I will never forget any of you, though I hope you all forget me.
I’m sorry, Ana, truly. I know it’s not much, but I transferred my apartment into your name. You can do what you want with it and everything inside. Should you sell my things, you’ll be left with plenty of cash to pay for whatever you desire.
Forever yours, Riku.』
Tears were sliding down her face, heart aching. “Riku, you idiot,” she sobbed, rubbing at her eyes in a failed attempt to stop the tears. “How can you tell me to move on and then tell me how much you love me? You absolute idiot!”
Ana knew what this meant.
Riku was going to do something dumb and she had to find him before he could. She had no idea how she was going to do this, though the details didn’t matter at that moment.
Pain and fear turned to determination as she ran from the apartment, the letter tucked into her hoodie pocket. She was determined to find the man she loved no matter the cost. Whether or not she slapped some sense into him was still up for debate.
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
The sun was beginning to sink low on the horizon, the sky fading from blue to a mixture of red and orange. The cold air felt like tiny needles against her face as she ran, though she paid it no mind, far too focused on the task at hand.
It felt as if she had been searching for ages and was no closer to finding the male, something that seriously frustrated her. Where the hell was he? She tried to pull from all the delinquent and yakuza dramas she’d seen in her life, but that list was fairly small.
Just as she was about to call Zin for help, she caught sight of something in the distance. Taking a step closer, she realized it was Mikaru standing at the end of a dead-end street and he wasn’t alone. Though she could only see his back, she was sure it was Riku.
Behind Mikaru was the Sumida River, the surface of the water peaceful as if these two men weren’t about to fight for their lives in front of it. She knew she didn’t have the strength to go against Mikaru, but if she could push him into the river, perhaps that would give her enough time to grab Riku and run away. With any luck, he’ll be eaten by a school of fish.
“So, what now, Riku? Eh?” Mikaru held out his arms in an exasperated motion. “Is our lil cat n mouse game finally gonna end, hm?”
“It should have ended a long time ago,” grunted Riku, eyes narrowed at the male.
“For once, we agree,” he grinned, tugging a large knife from his coat. With a war cry, he ran toward Riku with the knife outstretched.
Riku showed no sign of dodging and Ana cursed, knowing what he was thinking – he was going to atone for his sins by dying. She wasn’t about to let that happen so, without a moment of hesitation, she ran as fast as she could toward them.
She threw herself in front of him just as Mikaru thrust the knife forward.  Riku’s eyes widened, his breath leaving his lungs. She felt pressure against her stomach but no pain. Perhaps it was the adrenaline or perhaps she was just too focused on protecting the reckless idiot behind her.
“If you want to kill Riku, you’ll have to go through me first!”
“That can be arranged,” smirked Mikaru, tugging the knife free before raising it again.
Riku finally snapped out of his shock, grabbing her roughly before turning so that the knife went into his side. His jaw clenched in pain, his grip on her shoulders tightening.
“I’ll kill both of you!” he laughed maniacally, pulling the knife free once more.
With Ana there, Riku found his will to keep fighting. More importantly, he needed to get her to the hospital for her wound before she bled out. He knew that, as long as Mikaru was alive, her life would always be in danger.
Cocking his fist back, Riku slammed it against the male’s face, his eyes darkening. Mikaru stumbled back from the blow, broken nose reigniting with pain. Riku took this opportunity to kick the knife from his hand before starting a vicious assault on the male, punching him repeatedly without giving him the chance to recover.
His legs gave out beneath him, body crumbling to the ground. This meant nothing to Riku as he straddled the male, every punch filled with rage and pain – at himself, at Mikaru, at his boss. There were so many things, so many choices and mistakes for him to be angry over. More than anything, he was pissed off about Ana getting hurt twice.
The assault continued until he was out of breath, his vision blurred by the blood loss. He slid off of the unconscious male, falling onto his back against the concrete.
“Riku!” Ana rushed over to him, kneeling at his side. His shirt was soaked with blood, his skin pale.
He looked up at her through half-lidded eyes. “Why are you here?”
“Stop talking,” she muttered, pressing her hand against the wound to try and stop the blood. ‘I have to call an ambulance!’ “Riku, baby, please put your hands over the wound!”
He grunted, doing as she ordered. “Are you okay?”
She scoffed in disbelief. “You were stabbed and you’re asking me if I’m okay?”
“So were you.”
Her brow furrowed. ‘He’s right, I was… why don’t I feel any pain?’ She glanced down, early seeing a hole in her hoodie. There was no blood, though. Reaching into the pocket, she removed his letter and her phone, both of which had a deep cut in the center. The knife had gone through the letter before shattering the phone screen, saving her.
Riku laughed when he realized this, relief flooding him. This quickly turned to a coughing fit, pain flooding his system. He could taste the blood on his tongue, a familiar taste that he would never get used to.
“Be still!” She hissed angrily, shoving the items back into her pocket. With her phone broken, she had no choice but to go off in search of help. Her eyes flickered to Mikaru.
She couldn’t leave Riku on the off chance that Mikaru woke up and finished him off. She considered dragging him off the edge and into the river but decided against it.
“Give me your hand,” she ordered, taking his hand and pulling him to his feet. He grunted in pain, arm over his stomach as his other hand clutched at the wound. She put his arm around her shoulders. “Put your weight on me.”
Despite not wanting to do so, he had no choice because his strength was rapidly fading, vision blurring. “Ana-chan,” he breathed out.
She huffed from the effort it was taking to help him down the street. “Yeah?”
“Just let me go.”
“Absolutely not!” She snapped, hand tightening around his wrist. “I’ll never let you go, Riku!”
He smiled softly. “Thank you… for loving me.”
“Riku!” Ana cried out when his body went limp, unconsciousness slipping from him. She tried to keep him upright but he was just too heavy, his body slumping to the ground. “Shit!” She looked around frantically, spying a taxi in the distance.
She ran toward it so quickly that her body slammed against the side, startling the driver. He looked at her in shock as her bloody hand slammed against the window.
“Please help! Riku’s going to die!”
He glanced behind her, seeing the male lying on the ground, as still as the grave. “Get in!”
She hopped into the passenger seat as he took off down the street toward Riku, both of them jumping out as soon as the car came to a stop. With her help, the two managed to load Riku into the back and she slid in with him, pressing her hand against his wound.
“Please hurry!”
“Please don’t die in my car, man!” he cried, the tires squealing as he took off. “I don’t want a haunted cab!”
She didn’t even hear his comment, too focused on the pale face of her boyfriend. Tears slid down her cheeks, falling onto his own. “Please… please don’t leave me, Riku. You promised, remember?” She leaned down, forehead against his own as she whispered out, “You said you’d never leave…”
When they finally reached the hospital, the ER was overcrowded with people. There had been a large pile up so the staff were running around, trying to assist the people who had the most dangerous injuries.
The cab driver helped her carry Riku into the hospital, his feet dragging across the floor.
“We need help over here!” called the male, trying to get the attention of a nurse who was rushing past.
“Please!” Ana cried, blinking back her tears. “He’s going to bleed out!”
The woman behind the desk picked up the phone, saying something into the receiver before putting it back down and rushing over to them. “Was he in the accident?”
“He was stabbed! He – he -” Tears fell from her eyes, unable to be held back any longer. Panic was beginning to take hold of her, her body trembling. “Please help him!”
He flatlines and they put him on the gurney to take him back. She begs him not to leave her.
She reached forward, pressing two fingers to his neck. “He has no pulse.” With a curse, she rushed over to her desk, grabbing the phone again. “Code blue at the entrance! Code blue!”
“No pulse?” It felt as if her own heart stopped, the words bouncing around her brain but not quite sinking in.
“Lay him down, quick!” ordered the woman as she returned to them, helping them lay him down. She kneeled beside him, beginning chest compressions.
A group of nurses came running from the back, bringing a crash cart with them.
“Riku, please!” Ana sobbed, shaking his shoulder. “Please wake up!”
“Get her back!”
The cab driver did as he was ordered, wrapping his arms around her in order to pull her away from the group. She fought against him, trying to return to his side.
“Please don’t go where I can’t follow, Riku!”
They cut his shirt, placing the paddles against his chest. “Clear!”
His body shifted from the shock but his heart didn’t start.
“Again!”
“Riku please!” She screamed, still fighting against the man’s hold. “I’ll never forgive you if you don’t wake up!”
The other patients in the waiting area were watching on in horror as they worked to resuscitate him, sending Ana pitying looks that only made her feel worse.
“Clear!”
His body was shocked again and the nurse placed her fingers against the side of his neck. “We’ve got a pulse!”
Relief flooded her, her legs giving out beneath her. The cabbie slowly lowered them both to the ground, his hand rubbing her upper arm in a comforting manner as she sobbed.
Riku was lifted onto a gurney before they started to wheel him into the back.
Ana jumped up, shoving the cabbie away and attempting to follow but she was stopped by the woman who had been sitting at the desk. “Please, I need to be with him!”
“You’re not allowed into the surgery room,” she spoke softly, knowing how upset Ana was. “Please have a seat. I promise I’ll let you know his condition as soon as possible.”
She could only stare at the double doors as they closed behind the woman, fear and pain curling around her like a heavy blanket.

“Got any fours?”
Ana glanced up at Zin who was sitting across from her before glancing at the cards in her hand. “Go fish.”
Clicking his tongue, he grabbed a card from the top of the pile.
It had been nearly two days since Riku was taken into surgery and, though the surgery had been successful, he hadn’t yet woken up. Obviously, she hadn’t been able to tell the doctor the entire truth about the situation, not wanting Riku to get into trouble, but she had made it clear that he had been stabbed by a psychopath.
The doctor was convinced that Riku wasn’t waking up because he didn’t want to. He claimed this was quite common among patients who have gone through a traumatic experience and he told her that the only thing they could do was be patient.
This was not her strong suit, especially not where Riku was involved. She had been losing her mind and had no choice but to call Zin and tell him everything. She had only planned on telling him that Riku had been stabbed but, once she started speaking, she couldn’t stop. She told him everything, unloading all of her fear and stress.
Though mostly confused and shocked, Zin didn’t complain. He listened to her patiently as he rushed over to the hospital to meet her. Honestly, she wasn’t sure what would have happened to her without him there supporting her.
Her eyes fell on the unconscious male, a frown tugging at her lips.
“He just needs time,” said Zin softly. Despite his reassurances, he also felt very worried by the fact that Riku had yet to wake up. He had to be strong for her, though.
“I know,” she sighed, laying her cards down so she could run a hand through her hair. “I just miss him, Zin. I…” Tears gathered in her eyes but she blinked them back, turning her attention to the window.
It was late, the sky navy blue and dotted with tiny stars, barely visible because of the bright city lights. The moon was a waxing gibbous, the bottom half covered by thin clouds. It was a beautiful sight, but it seemed so dull to her. Everything seemed so much more dull without Riku.
“I know, Ana-chan,” Zin smiled sadly, reaching out to pat her hand. His eyes flickered to her arm and then to the bags beneath her eyes. He knew she hadn’t slept since he was brought into the hospital. “How are you feeling? You should really get some rest.”
Her nose wrinkled at the thought. “I’m fine.”
Zin sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I know you’re as stubborn as he is, but you can’t just not sleep.”
“I refuse to sleep until he wakes up.”
He just sighed again, resisting the urge to facepalm. Before he could scold her, he caught movement from the corner of his eye. He figured it was just the nurse coming in to check on them but, when he glanced over, he realized Riku was stirring.
“Ana-chan!”
Since she was looking out the window, she hadn’t yet noticed this. “I’ve made up my mind and nothing you say will change that.”
“He’s waking up!”
Her head snapped toward him so quickly that he worried she might have whiplash. Sure enough, a soft groan passed Riku’s lips as his eyes fluttered open, brow furrowed in pain.
His body felt heavy, as if it were made out of lead, and there was an incessant beeping to his right that made him want to punch something. Confusion was the first thing he felt, his foggy brain trying to fill in the gaps and piece together where he was and what had happened.
Ana swallowed hard, resisting the urge to scream his name and throw herself on top of him. Her legs trembled as she stood up, slowly approaching his bed. “Riku?”
At the sound of her shaky voice, he snapped his head to the side, attempting to push himself up only to hiss in pain and fall back down against the pillow.
“Don’t try to get up!” she scolded softly, glancing at his side to see if the wound had started to bleed. “You’ll reopen your stitches.”
He glanced down, realizing he was wearing a hospital gown and had an IV in his arm. He hated hospitals and had been taught to avoid them no matter how bad the injury was. Inhaling slowly, he pushed himself up, vision blurring and head throbbing.
“Riku!” scolded Ana again, trying to push him back down but he shook his head which certainly didn’t help to clear up his vision.
“I don’t do hospitals,” he muttered. “Take me home.”
Zin hummed, appearing at the end of the bed and holding up his hand. “How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Huh?” Riku was confused by the sudden question and he shifted, nervous about the male’s presence. How much did he know? The question worried him.
“If you answer correctly, we can leave.”
“Zin,” she stressed in disbelief. “He’s in no condition to leave!”
“I know.” He sent her a reassuring smile before addressing the male once more. “If you answer incorrectly, you have to stay here without complaint until the doctor releases you. Deal?”
Riku pursed his lips, eyes narrowed at Zin’s hand. He tried his hardest to focus his eyes but his brain refused to cooperate. “Four.”
“Wrong!” he grinned, stepping closer so Riku could see the three fingers he was holding up.
Ana breathed a sigh of relief while Riku huffed in annoyance, falling back against his pillow once again.
Zin patted her on the shoulder before grabbing his jacket from the chair. “I need to go check on the others. Don’t give her too much trouble, Riku, she hasn’t slept.” He waved to the two of them before leaving the room, closing the door to give them some privacy.
Riku frowned at the words, his eyes scanning her face. When he noticed just how exhausted she looked, his frown deepened. “Ana-chan -“
Sobs escaped her lips, tears sliding down her cheeks. She didn’t want to break down in front of him like this, but she was far too tired to try and control herself.
“Please don’t cry,” he told her softly, sliding his hand into hers.
“I thought… I thought I l-lost you…” Her eyes met his and he swallowed hard, taken aback by the raw emotion that lingered there. “You promised to – to never leave… you… you’re a dumbass, Riku!”
His fingers curled around her wrist and, with a sharp tug, he pulled her onto the bed with him, arms wrapped tightly around her body. Her fingers curled around his hospital robe, face buried in his chest. She could feel his heart beating beneath her touch and it was comforting to her.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, fighting against his own tears as he pulled her closer. A simple sorry didn’t feel sufficient for everything that had happened and yet… it was all he could say.
He always knew he loved her, from the moment they first met. There was something deep inside him that knew he would love her for the rest of his life, but he never realized the true impact she had on him. He never realized that she had become his happiness, his reason to keep moving forward.
Somewhere along the way, she had become his safety net, the one person that kept him from drowning in his own self-loathing. Alone, the weight of his mistakes and poor choices weighed heavily on him, forcing his head beneath the water until he could no longer breathe.
With Ana, though, it all felt more bearable. For the first time in a long time, he felt hopeful. He felt loved. He felt like he was enough. How could he possibly put that into words? How could he make her realize just how much she meant to him? He thought he was doing what was best by leaving her.
He closed his eyes, tears forming small wet spots on his pillow.
“I love you, Riku,” she whispered, clutching his clothes tighter. “No matter how dangerous it is, I want to follow you on whatever path you take. I don’t want to live without you. I… I can’t live without you.”
Though it was harder for him to admit, he felt the same way. He was perfectly content with Mikaru killing him when he tried to leave Ana’s life. Without her, his world was bleak and his demons threatened to smother him. She was a light in the darkness, though, acting as a protective shield around him that he didn’t feel he deserved.
His hand found the back of her neck and she slowly lifted her head. For several moments, the two just stared at each other. He may not be able to express how he was feeling with words, but she could see it clearly within his glassy eyes.
With a smile, she cupped his face before leaning down to claim his lips. He groaned in appreciation, tilting his head to deepen the kiss, hands on her hips as he attempted to bring her closer but there was already no space between them.
His tongue slid across her bottom lip and she didn’t hesitate to give him access, their tongues dancing. Neither of them had ever felt so overwhelmed by love and warmth before. It was intoxicating, like a drug that they were both addicted to and couldn’t get enough of.
They didn’t pull away until their lungs were screaming for air, the two of them panting softly as they stared at each other again, foreheads touching.
Riku swallowed hard, hands gripping her hips tighter. When he spoke, his voice was a soft whisper meant only for her. “Don’t ever leave me, Ana-chan.”
A smile tugged at her lips as she brushed the hair away from his forehead. “I should be saying that to you.”
“I’m sorry,” he frowned, guilt swirling in his beautiful brown eyes. “I thought I was doing the right thing…”
“That’s all any of us can do,” she hummed softly. “Just know that I will always chase after you. No matter how far away you run, no matter what situation you find yourself in, I’ll find you.”
“Promise?”
“I promise,” she whispered, claiming his lips again.

Shogo sat watching Giselle on her balcony, downing her wine, seemingly upset. Her boyfriend of three years once again stood her up. This time though, it was deplorable. Her birthday was supposed to be a big celebration, surrounded by her friends and those she considered family. He growled under his breath, waiting for a miracle to happen, for Takashi to actually think of someone other than himself. Shogo and Elle had spent a lot of time together, going shopping, eating at her favorite restaurants, watching her favorite movies. She was the one person he wanted nothing more than to be with. Her boyfriend was treating her wrong, which irked his soul like no other, but he wasn't about to over step his boundaries. He felt there was a spark between them, but knew that Giselle was torn.
Misaki, Zin’s girlfriend looked over as she saw the sight. She walked out towards Giselle, placing a hand on her shoulder. She looked at Misaki with a half smile.
“Elle, you know you don’t have to take this from him.”
“Misa, he’s working, I can't condemn him for that.”
“Just like Valentine’s day right?”
Giselle took a sip, thinking of how Misa was right. He had avoided spending time with her on Valentine’s day. Blaming it on work, but on social media, was with his friends. Instead, Shogo spent the evening with her to make her feel better. She looked out seeing the lights illuminate the streets, annoyed by his lack of consideration once more. Just once, Giselle wanted him to match her energy. Misa developed a deep bond with Giselle when they met, due to Giselle being important to Shogo.
She looked over at Shogo. By all actions he was the one she should've picked. He acted more like her partner than Takeshi. She still remembered that day at the restaurant when Shogo and Takeshi got into it. They didn't know she was in the booth behind them.
“Takeshi, thank you for hearing me out. I just want to know why you keep Giselle when your actions scream you don't want her.”
The tapping stopped as Takeshi placed his phone down. “Iwata is it?”
“It’s Iwaya.”
“Right. Women like Giselle need to be in a relationship to feel like they have some meaning in their useless, mundane life. You see, I’m actually doing her a favor by keeping her; regardless if I ghost her.”
“Useless life? You pompous little prick. Giselle deserves better than this game your playing with her heart. She deserves the world and someone who would build theirs around her.”
“She's independent, so she'll survive.”
Shogo clinched his fists, he had a mind to drive his hand through Takeshi’s face, if it wouldn't hurt Giselle. “I hope one day you don’t realize how much of an asshole you are, so she can invest time into someone who truly cares about her!” His yell silenced the restaurant.
“I doubt she will. You see, even if our love is one-sided, she won't leave me; Giselle is too nice to ‘hurt me’,” he chuckled, “Now, why don't you two go prance your way back to the studio where you belong.” He picked his phone back up shooing them away.
Shogo stood up quickly, Zin pulling him back from making a mistake that could hurt his image. They left furious.
When Giselle came back to reality, she sighed. The pain she felt afterwards was worse than anything that had happened to her. She downed the last of her wine as she was going to make a change. Grabbing a box she went to her room throwing all of Takeshi’s items in it. Misa followed her slightly confused on what her friend had in mind.
“He said I was too nice, and my life is useless without him. I’ll show him.”
“Hell yes Elle!” Misa threw her glass down shattering it. “Shit. Sorry Elle, I got too wrapped up in the moment.” She grabbed a broom cleaning up her mess.
Giselle giggled, as she had other onlookers coming to see what the ruckus was. She focused on her task at hand though, filling up the box quickly. Shogo stood at the door leaning into the frame. He was glad she was making this decision, but wondered why the sudden change of heart with her. He overheard her tell Misa, word for word, what Takeshi said to him. Shogo never disclosed that tidbit of information, to try and protect Giselle of a broken heart.
Throwing the last article in the box, Giselle felt a slight weight lifting from her shoulders. It was well past time for her to cut ties, and start anew. She grabbed the box as Misa skipped besides her.
“Do you need a ride?” Shogo stopped her.
“Only if you don't mind, if not I can get a taxi or Uber.”
Zin grabbed Misaki’s hand as they decided to join. This was going to be a group effort. Giselle knew the code to his apartment, her plan was to drop it off as his house while he wasn’t there. Takeshi was supposed to be working, but she wasn’t prepared for what was to come.
Silently, they walked down the hall to his apartment, to not disturb the other residents. She typed in the code as the door unlocked, to sounds of moaning. Anger filled Giselle as her fists clinched tightly, turning her knuckles white. She slammed open his door seeing Takeshi on top of another woman. She grabbed the closest thing to her as she pelted it across the room hitting him in the back of the head. The girl screeched trying to cover up, rage coursing through Giselle's body.
“Seriously Takeshi?” Her yell startled everyone. “Your stuff is in the living room. You can play your stupid games with this broad.”
She shoved past everyone wanting to leave. She had feared this day would come, but wasn’t sure when or if she’d ever catch him in the act. Takeshi threw his legs over the side, rubbing his head. It was a surprise she didn’t crack his skull. He followed her outside trying to talk to her.
“Giselle, wait,” he grabbed her arm turning her around.
“I have nothing else to say to you, you’re not my problem anymore.”
He slammed her door, “Will you let me talk? I'm sorry.”
“Fuck off, you're only sorry you got caught. You have been the worst boyfriend. Cheating on me on my birthday? You showed you have no couth, many times, and I’m not lowering myself any longer to a tool like you. I deserve better than what you give me. Go back to her, she's more important.” She turned to Shogo, “Take me away from here please.”
“You’re making a big mistake! I won't take you back,” Takeshi was furious he lost Giselle.
“You don't have to worry about that, because that will never be up for discussion.”
After the long drive of silence, they arrived back at her apartment. Everyone was still there, but she proceeded to her room. She wanted to gather her emotions before she faced anyone; Misa included. She was right all along, but Giselle was living in the clouds. At this point, she didn't even know why. The breakup went a lot better, and she wasn't that hurt from it, so she didn't know why she was in the dumps about it. Shogo entered her room sitting at the foot of her bed. She turned her head slightly, not completely meeting eye contact with him.
“How did you know what he said about you, that day at the restaurant?”
“I was there, I was meeting a client for lunch when I heard the discussion. After you left, I called them and scheduled else where.”
Shogo dropped his head. The hateful words he tried to protect her from, inevitably found their way to her.
“I hope you aren't mad at me for not telling you.”
She smirked, “Why would I be mad at you? You tried to protect me, I can't be angry.”
He scooted closer to her, “But that was for naught, because you ended up hurt anyways.”
“You're not the one who hurt me. You've never hurt me, and I know you never will. This is just something I had to learn for myself. I'm better off without him anyways,” she stood up, “let's go. Everyone is about to leave.”
Shogo followed her out as Elle's apartment was emptying. He was stopped suddenly by her, confused on what she needed.
“Shogo, can you stay? I want to be around my best friend.”
He looked back at his friends as he ushered them to leave without him. He locked the door for the night as they relaxed on the couch. Giselle brought blankets and pillows for them, since they were having a night together. They only got through a full movie, before Elle passed out. Shogo laid in front of her covering her shoulders up, tucking her more in.
A smile formed on her lips as she looked at him, noticing he was almost hanging off the couch.
“Aren’t you afraid of falling?”
“I already have,” he nudged closer to her.
When Giselle woke up, she noticed the house being quiet.
Hmm. Did you really leave without saying goodbye Sho? She collected her thoughts walking through the house. Suddenly, she heard her keys jingle outside of the door. Right when she opened it, she saw a whole new Shogo. Sure, he was dressed the same with a snack hanging out his mouth, and his hand full of groceries, but he was different. The whole aura that surrounded him was enchanting. She rushed to help empty his hands, looking away suddenly. It was for sure written on her forehead how extremely gorgeous he was to her. She placed the groceries down before heading to the bathroom.
Giselle stood in front of the mirror as she was in complete shock, how she never noticed him before. She always looked at him, but not like that. The smile that he gave her, behind the snack, was burning through her mind, taking up space rent free. The cold water felt awesome, helping calm her down. She heard a light knock, followed by his sweet voice.
“Ellie, I’m gonna make you breakfast. That’s why I was gone, I hope I didn't upset you.”
Even the way he said her name had a nice ring to it now. She inhaled slowly opening the door.
“I’m not upset, was just curious where you were, that’s all.”
“Are you sure you’re okay? You seem kinda far off like something is bothering you.”
“I promise I'm fine Sho. Do you need help?”
He shook his head abruptly, “Nope that would make the point, of me making you breakfast, obsolete if I had your help. You can just keep me company.”
She smiled following him to the kitchen. Him being there made her feel better. Giselle sat at her bar watching him whip together her favorite, a sausage omelet. Hardly anyone knew that she loved them so much, she was impressed that he did. Shogo noticed her staring at him through his peripherals, he smirked as his back was to her.
“Are you going to ask me or not,” He broke her trance.
“Ask what?”
“How I knew.”
She looked over at the window, knowing he could read her mind at this point. “I’m curious.”
“I know you like the back of my hand. I wouldn’t be your best friend if I didn’t know what you liked; or what makes you the saddest, but you choose to hold it in. I'm also observant and receptive of your emotions, and just hope that I'm never in the same room while your heart shatters.”
“Sho-"
“I mean that, it controls my mood. Your emotions controls my mood,” He placed a beautifully arranged omelet in front of her with a cup or coffee.
She slowly bit a piece as her taste buds were in full ecstasy at the moment. Giselle placed her fork down, trying to come up with the words to tell Shogo how she was feeling. Everything that she rehearsed in her mind, sounded so much better there. It wasn’t that she didn’t like him, she was just scared with everything that recently happened.
“Sho, I-"
“I didn’t tell you all this for you to feel pressured to say you like me back. I just wanted to let you know that you don’t have to look very far if you want someone who cares.”
He sat down with his own plate eating, glancing at his watch. It was getting close for him to have to leave, but for the first time, he was dreading going.
“If you have to leave Sho, you can. I don’t expect your life to be put on pause for what happened. I won’t mind, I might even take a nap.”
He smiled his half smile, nodding his head. He was going to finish his plate first. They ate in silence, before he stood up to excuse himself. Giselle jumped up wrapping her arms around him.
“Thank you Sho. You’re always the one to stay by my side.”
“Always. Now get some rest. Text me later if you need me,” He lightly cupped his hand around her face.
Giselle nodded sending him on his way. From the moment he left, she replayed his words in her head. Over and over like a record stuck on one song. Every time she tried to lay back down, he ran through her mind. Her phone went off seeing Misa’s notifications. She was bored at the studio and wanted Elle’s presence there.
At first it seemed like a bad idea, not wanting to bother or distract Shogo, but then again she noticed a difference when he wasn't around. Also, she would be there for Misa, not just to see him so it would be okay. Sure, it’d be a bonus, but she was going to do her part of their friendship. Giselle looked in the mirror, getting freshened up. Her clothes were waiting on her to make her final decision, as she stood wondering what he'd like her in. Misa sent another series of texts telling her to hurry up, just as she finished dressing. She grabbed her keys heading to the studio.
Their songs could be heard down the hallway, as her heart sped up. She got to the door as she froze, hand stopping just before she reached the handle. She was blocking the door as she couldn’t put it in motion to turn it. A hand placed on hers drew her back to reality.
“You okay Ellie?” Shogo was glistening from dancing so hard.
“Sho,” she brushed her hair behind her ear, “what a coincidence that you’re here.”
He grinned lowering his eyes in confusion. “Yeah this is kind of like my second home. You gonna come in?” He helped turn the handle as Misa pulled her in.
Shogo went back to formation as he chuckled. It was apparent that Giselle was becoming bashful around him, he thought it was cute.
“I’m glad I wasn’t bleeding out, it took you long enough Elle.”
Elle nodded not hearing what was said. Misa snapped in her face. “Misa, when did you know Zin was the one for you.”
“Hey whoa. You have to get your own, he’s mine.”
“What? No, I didn’t mean it like that, I don’t see Zin like that I promise.”
Misa was splitting at the side with how worked up Giselle seemed. “Relax, I know he’s not the one you’re inquiring about. It’s about Sho isn’t it?”
“I’m actually not sure. I just feel really different around him. Something has definitely changed between us, but we haven't done anything differently.”
“Maybe you’re finally letting him into your heart.”
Giselle looked over at Sho seeing him laughing with the others. His smile was quite calming to her.
“I guess. I also find it weird I'm not upset about ending things with Takeshi.”
“Elle, he was a tool. The one that's perfect for you, hasn't been able to keep his eyes off of you since you met.”
Shogo looked over at Elle. He did look at her in the most adorning way, but she was clouded by horrible decisions. Zin pushed him forward to talk to her, since they decided to take a break. He laid his head in her lap causing her to gasp. Elle placed her hand on his head, subconsciously stroking his hair.
“Are you planning on staring at me the entire time you’re here?”
A smirk curved Elle’s lips. He caught her glancing, even while dancing.
“If it’s an issue I can stop.”
He opened his eyes gazing into hers. “You do and I’ll never forgive you.”
A light shade of pink crept across her face. It took her so long to realize that her true love was disguised as her best friend. He never made her feel less about herself. If she ever needed him, he was there on a drop of the dime. With all the chaos that ever surrounded her, he was the peace. Shogo was her tranquility, simply put. Her eyes were wide open now, and she wasn't going to lose him.
There was a risk for them taking their friendship to a whole new level, but he was worth it. To her, he was worth everything.
“Can we talk after you guys are done?”
“Of course Ellie,” He raised up inches away from her face, “Where at?”
“My apartment.”
Shogo nodded as he returned to the group. Elle was nervous to talk to him about them and where they were going to go, but she felt it was necessary. She just hoped that what he said earlier, he meant it. Back home she had an elaborate plan to cook for him. Elle made spaghetti for him, since it was his favorite dish of hers, homemade garlic bread included. Just as she pulled out the bread, her door opened. Shogo looked refreshed, getting a shower in before coming to her.
“You can literally smell this down the hallway,” He smiled sitting down at the bar in front of her.
Elle smirked as she cut the bread. Her sauce was his favorite, and she had a way with the meatballs she made. He wasn't much on them, but hers was his favorite. Elle made his plate sitting it in front of him. He leaned over taking the fork as he dug in. Finally, she sat down to eat. The meal was quiet, but it gave her a chance to gather her thoughts.
“You okay Ellie?”
“Iwaya, I have to be honest. What’s on my mind is scarier than any thoughts that have crossed it,” she continued to look down.
By this time, she had his full attention. She got nervous as she looked up at Sho, feeling like a weight was about to be lifted off her shoulders.
“If whatever you’re thinking is causing you turmoil, you don't have to tell me right now.”
“You need to know Shogo, that when I go to bed, I think of you. When I wake, if I don't see a message from you, I get this weird feeling. I feel a sense of happiness when you are around me. You have always been my person and I'm sorry I haven't noticed before. I don't want to look past you any longer.”
He smiled turning their chairs to face each other. “Are you confessing to me?”
“I am but I'm scared. I'm scared of what might happen to us.”
“The only thing that will happen is we will work out what ever is headed our way. If you love me, and I know I love you, then nothing will go wrong,” He ran his thumbs along her cheeks trying to dry her trailing tears. “Ellie, I will never break your heart. And these tears you’re crying, I will dry up the best of my ability. All we can do is take it one day at a time.”
Elle placed her hand on his, intertwining their fingers. His touch was soft and gentle.
“I love you Iwaya.”
He placed an adorning kiss on her forehead, “I love you Giselle.”
They closed the space between them. She finally had the happiness she had been searching for, it was just hidden in plain sight all along.

The Friendship is Over
“Friendship is another word for LOVE”
Tumblr media
A/N: hi! This is Eribin. I am not a real writer, doing this as my past time. English is not my first language so bear with my English. There’s a lot of grammatical and typographical errors. This is just a fiction from my delusions 😆
Hokuto’s POV
“There’s someone I really like, Hokkun. But I guess I have no hope. I don’t have the courage to confess. What should I do?” Kazuma whined. That hurts a little. Here we go again, with Kazu telling me how he likes this certain person. I have no idea who she is. It hurts big time, you know, because I love him. After almost 10 years of friendship, I don’t want to screw up our friendship. But he doesn’t know that I love him more than friends. And I’m a boy. He might not accept me.
“Do I know that person you’re talking about?” I asked him while throwing the leaves I picked up around me. We were in our hideout. This is where we always hang out during our vacant hours. It’s located at the back of our school.

“Yeah~ I guess so.” He just replied and looked down. This breaks your heart even more. Kazu looks so sad and hopeless. I did not ask for more questions. I didn’t want to find out who she was.
“You know what, Kazu, Drop some hints. Surprise her by writing a letter or buying her gifts and leaving them in her locker. That might help” I just said. Well, I heard girls like surprises.
“You think so?” Kazu asked, and I glanced at him. I saw his brown eyes twinkle, and a smile showed across his face.
Tumblr media
“Bro, I’m not a romantic type, so I have no idea, but I heard girls like that stuff.” I just said that and stood up.
“Let’s go. We will be late for our next class” I added. Actually, I don’t want to talk or hear about his crush or anything. My heart crumpled every time he mentioned that. I tried to confess before, but he said something that froze me.
‘Good thing you’re always on my side. You’re the best bestfriend I've ever had!’
That phrase never leaves my mind. Bestfriend. I’m only just a best friend. Nothing more, nothing less. After that, I did not attempt to do it again. I’m content to be his just “bestfriend” as long as he’s on my side, and vice versa.

—— after 3 days
“Will you quit biting your nails?” I said to Kazuma. He looks so nervous as he hides his hand and tucks it in his pants. He always bit his nails if he did something new or was just nervous over something. We’re just neighbors, so we always went to school together.
“I’m sorry if this bothers you. I’m just nervous.” he said, and he’s looking just straight and never looked at me. This made me make a face at him.
“What did you do?” I asked him as we were walking. Kazu just shook his head. As we were getting closer to the locker area, the more nervous he became. Weird. This is not his normal self. Maybe it’s about his “crush”. Maybe he will confess? I shook my head mentally, and I should not have been thinking about this. I need to focus on my studies rather than worrying about him and my stupid love for him.
I took out my key from my bag and unlocked my locker. My eyes widen as I see a red octopus plushie above my books. Beside the plushie, there’s a letter. My mouth was open wide, and I took out the letter. There's no sender name, but at the back there’s a phrase written.
The friendship is over.
Huh? Who is this? I decided to open the letter, and reading the first paragraph, I gasped. My eyes watered.
Hokkun,
I don’t know what to write in this letter. But I just want you to know that I like you. No— scratch that. I love you.
You have no idea how much I liked you from the start. I thought I just wanted you to be my friend or my bud. But as the days passed, my feelings developed. I have fallen deeply and irrevocably in love with you. But I know, I know my limitations; we’re friends. And I cherished our friendship more than anything. But I couldn’t bear anymore to keep my feelings to myself. Fears enveloped my whole self. You might find someone and eventually fall for her. I couldn’t bear that, Hokkun. Yet I write this letter without expecting anything. I will accept any response. I simply couldn’t bear to keep my feelings hidden.
But if your heart resonates with mine, are you willing to change the friendship status and make it into a relationship?
Love Kazu
Tumblr media
I gasped. Wait— what!!?? Kazu? As in Kazuma Kawamura!!?? He liked me? I mean— love me?
I turn around. Kazu’s locker is just across mine. I saw him innocently looking at me and biting his lower lip. It looks like he’s waiting for my response. My eyes watered with so much happiness. So, all this time, we feel the same way?
Fear fitted across his face the moment he saw a tear fall from my eyes.
Tumblr media
“Ho—hokkun! I’m sorry. I know you don’t feel the same way, but—.” I cut him off by throwing my arms around his neck. I don’t care if everybody sees us hugging. The most important thing here is our love.
I felt his hand enveloping me all over my waist, and he tightened the hug. I suppressed a smile, and another tear fell from my eyes.
“So it means—.” I cut him off again.
“Go out with me” I said between my sobbing. I just felt him smile.
“Of course, Hokkun” he said, letting go of our hug. “After class?” He added, and I just smiled at him as I wiped my tears away. He helped me wipe my face. I know everyone’s eyes are on us. But I don’t care; we’re in love.
“We’ll be late for our class; let’s go!” I said. He took my hands, I took the red octopus plushie, and he helped me lock the locker, and we went to our class, holding hands.
The end———
THANK YOU FOR READING 😍
