I genuinely think if it weren’t such a dead give away to their identities, Kell and Lila would speak English/High Royal in public all the time, just so they could talk about people around them without being heard or understood.
‼️Also the fact that English is effectively their own little language on the ship that they only speak privately to each other makes me wanna cry like a baby!!! Like that is so fucking intimate that they do that🥹 I could write essays‼️
Anyway…Kell and Lila talking in English in a bar where no one else speaks it so that they can chat shit is so funny to me. Imo absolutely something they would do.

Random hcs I have because I may be cringe but I'm free part 27 (Ninjago)
More platonic oppo (but still mostly Kai centric) because their friendship has infected my brain (strap in, it's a long one)
Ok so this one is kind of a mashup of 3 different headcannons, the Chinese Kai hc, the "oppo are best friends" hc, and the one im gonna talk about here that possessed me to write this in the first place, but hear me out-
(Tbh, this could take place at pretty much any point in the series but I usually imagine it somewhere between seasons 4 and 8)
Just take a second to imagine, Kai peacefully going about his life as his proudly bilingual self, until he realizes: outside of Ignacia, its insanely rare to find someone who speaks Mandarin.
This, in turn, sparks two more revelations: One, that just makes the fact that he was born and raised speaking Mandarin all the more cool, and two, that he would have virtually no chance to use/show off his first language with someone other than Nya or Zane, and he would only ever get to use Ninjargon.
This motivates Kai (desperate to keep his spot as one of the most cultured on the team) to learn THREE more languages, those being French, Italian, and Spanish (as any reasonable person would do)
The only person he ever outright tells is Wu (seeing as he's fluent in like every language ever so he's great to practice with) and he mostly keeps it a secret from the others so that he can keep surprising/impressing them by pulling another random language out of nowhere whenever its needed.
What he didn't expect however, was how Zane would react.
Turns out, being a total bookworm and a literal walking computer means that not only does deciphering other languages come easy to Zane, he also absolutely adores studying languages in all their forms. So, when he heard from his friends that the criminal they were supposed to go question didn't know any Ninjargon and that Kai had managed to hold the rather intense interrogation entirely in French, he was beyond delighted. Once he had finished cleaning up after dinner he practically ran to Kai's room to talk, and of course, he immediately insisted Kai do all his explaining in French for the rest of the night.
From that day on, anytime the two of them wanted to have a private conversation and couldn't just pull the other to the side (or, more commonly, if they just randomly felt like it) they would simply start talking in one of the four languages and fall into easy conversation with the other as if they hadn't just simultaneously stopped making sense to anybody else around them.
TL;DR (and the simple seed from which this essay of a hc was born)
Kai talks shit about people to Zane in different languages

Tom Hiddleston
Tom Hiddleston is probably best known for playing God of Mischief Loki in the Marvel movies as well as the recent streaming TV series. But a lesser-known fact about the British actor is that he is a keen polyglot.
He studied classics at The University of Cambridge, where he learned Ancient Greek and Latin. While he may not get to have a chat in those languages very often, his knowledge of classical languages probably gave him a good foundation to learn some modern ones. He's been interviewed in Spanish, French and Italian.
And he's also showed off, among others, a bit of German, Russian, Korean and Mandarin. A real-life linguistic superhero, then.

Flora Gorgeous Gardenia (eau de parfum) Gucci
Floral
Encased within a new, elongated bottle, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia relaunches with a new Eau de Parfum. With a scent built around the Gardenia flower, the joyful floral signature has been admired since the dawn of time and said to be used in elixirs and magic potions. Taking cues from its believed mystical power, the gorgeous White Gardenia note is blended with solar Jasmine Grandiflorum Absolute. The modern floral signature is introduced by a lively Pear Blossom accord, while a touch of Brown Sugar accord adds a delicate sweetness to its sillage.
Top notes: Blossom accord, Italian mandarin, Red berries Heart notes: White gardenia, Jasmine, Frangipani Base notes: Patchouli, Brown sugar

introducing myself
hello everyone! i came from langtwt so i’m new on langblr!! i guess i’ll also introduce myself on here 🐸 i’ve noticed posts are way longer here so i’ll sum everything up in the first paragraph but elaborate a little bit after that ☀️
— my name’s eva (she/her), i’m 22
— i’m from spain
— uni student
— i speak spanish, english and catalan 🇪🇸🇬🇧
— i’m learning french, mandarin, thai, korean and italian 🇫🇷🇨🇳🇹🇭🇰🇷🇮🇹
about me
as i said, my name’s eva and i’m a 22-year-old college student from spain :) i’m majoring in translation and interpreting so i study languages both as my degree/career and my hobby! i’ve started and stopped learning a lot of languages just for fun but i’m gonna stick with these five for a while!! that doesn’t mean i won’t put on pause/retake some of these languages depending on my situation, it just means i won’t take up new languages in the near future 🫡
languages
note before starting: both my life and my career goals have been changing drastically lately, which means my language journey is about to change a lot too. however as i have yet to figure it out, i’m just gonna talk about how i’ve been studying languages for the last few months and update when i finally figure out my new language plan :)
having said that:
🌳 spanish— native language
🌳 english— advanced
🌳 catalan (valencià to be specific)— i used to be advanced but i stopped using it and now it’s pretty rusty 😭
now, on to the languages i’m learning
🌿 french— probably intermediate/rusty upper intermediate
🌿 chinese (mandarin)— my golden child. probably around hsk3/4 (i’d say upper beginner though) but i can’t tell exactly. working on that
🌱 thai— beginner
🌱 korean— very beginner
🌱 italian— beginner
there’s a lot of languages i’d love to learn in the future (japanese, tagalog, swahili, vietnamese among others) but i’ve decided to focus and play around with these five languages until i reach my goals in all of them before starting any others
other socials
— twitter
— instagram
i love chatting!! i’m always happy to meet new people but it does take me a while to see messages sometimes! corrections are welcome, my dms are open, if you need help with spanish let me know! and i think that’s all 🫂🤍

My studies this month
This month I've been focusing on other things and I even took a week off for a holiday! So I haven't logged my words or anything, but I can still tell what I've been studying.
Korean: I've been watching the news every day! I haven't been learning many new words this month.
Japanese: A lot of improvement! I can speak a lot more now and understand many new words! My favorite is コヲロコヲロ!
Mandarin: A lot of accidental immersion! I went for a holiday in the city and there were a BUNCH of Chinese people for some reason? I heard an unusual amount of the language this month.
Cantonese: Not much this month either! Watched a few documentaries in the language!
Italian: new language! My friend speaks it and I wanted to have a go! So far so good, seems simple!
Okinawan: I can speak simple sentences now! I need to work on my listening skills...
Ainu: also a new language! I want to focus on this a lot more this month!
French: I read a few news articles, not my main focus!
Tumblr media
I've been focusing on conlanging all this time. I need to move my focus back to languages this month!
