I know I should really stay out of the discourse, but I gotta say it feels weird how I've seen multiple posts talking about how hard it is to like Imogen while acknowledging her flaws, meanwhile I've had to scroll past dozens upon dozens of posts(some of them from the same people saying this about Imogen!!!) crying about Orym being demonized because somebody dared suggest that maybe one of his actions was a dick move

in regards to the constant dismissal of his aroace identity, i hate it when alastor 'fans' say and use the excuse: "he's fictional, he won't get offended."
like, you're right, but it can and will offend us.
when you see yourself being represented on screen, of course you'd feel enthusiastic about it — representation allows individuals to see themselves reflected in the media they consume, validating their identities and experiences. but when so many people take that representation and decide to disregard and discard it, it is so fucking frustrating. we finally have another character to be part of the tiny amount of representation we have, but then people don't even care about how much it means to us? like yeah, alastor won't get offended because he's not real, but it frustrates and annoys us. do you realize that it's also technically invalidating the aroace community? that you're invalidating our feelings? imagine feeling like you're finally being seen because your orientation is finally being represented in media, and people just decide to blatantly ignore, discard, and invalidate it.
media has such a powerful influence on real life, representation being a prevalent factor of it. there are numerous posts that dictate how people went to watch a movie/show or read a book just because a character depicts their identity in it — obviously, being represented is an incredibly uplifting and validating experience.
which is why seeing an aroace character in a popular show is so meaningful to us because we live in a world where romance and sex are literally everywhere and prioritized above all else. (and it's pretty obvious that alastor's on the repulsed end of the spectrum, but even if he wasn't, at least make an effort to acknowledge his sexuality instead of continuing to portray him as allo; aroace folks can be in relationships but it's not going to be the same thing with allos' experiences.)
any and every representation matters, but why does that seem to stop at people under the aroace spectrum? like y'all can't even let us appreciate the scraps of representation we have. we barely have any, so are we really that dramatic for being upset at how people easily disregard and dismiss our identities that are being depicted on screen just like that? is it truly wrong of us to want to defend and maintain the little representation we have?

this is a long shot and i'm sorry to ask, but if you don't mind, can mutuals (or contacts or regulars... just... this community) of mine who aren't jumping ship like... let me know? will any of us still be here? is it over? i'm trying to know if this really is it or what's... even happening. i hate to reassurance seek but i'm feeling pretty miserable and confused.
edit: felt like i was being really pitiful and fragile making this but everybody is being so nice to me and responding so patiently with all your thoughts and i'm in tears of gratitude thank you thank you thank you 💖

Not the straight fans always complaining that people reach too far to justify gay ships just to turn around and ship Navia and Neuvillette or Wriothsley and Clorinde for existing on screen together

Just to minimize my chances of being genuinely misunderstood OR deliberately misinterpreted, and crucified for something I don't think, How Dare You Say We Piss on the Poor website etc...I'm gonna say this right up top. I absolutely understand why people don't like Thessaly as a character, if anyone does completely unironically stan her as some kind of feminist hero who Did Nothing Wrong uwu, I personally see it as a bit of a red flag. I don't like terfs real or fictional. In a vacuum, I could even completely sympathize and agree with the people who want her cut.
HOWEVER.
It's really something to me to see people clamoring for her to be cut, because she carries and expressed an ugly indefensible prejudice (transphobia) in words towards (1) person. Meanwhile Hob fucking Gadling enacted one of the most violent forms of antiblack racism I can even think of against thousands no, millions of people, the ripple effects of which still affect billions more today. Just a little light idk, profiting off the fucking slave trade and had to be told by someone else that it was bad...and he's a fan favorite.
People are saying Thessally being Dream's love interest reflects badly on him or is somehow endorsement by the narrative (?!?!?!?!?!? Didn't she (SPOILER ALERT AS IF IT MATTERS BY NOW) help participate in his extended assisted suicide? She's not painted as a great person to me just another character what are y'all SMOKING whatever fine. It's fine this is fine.) But shipping Dream with Mr. Former Slaver is not only not verboten or frowned on widely in the fandom but its THEE most popular pairing by far. So...why the difference?
Like where are the same fans who are saying Thessaly shouldn't just be more clearly shown to be wrong, she shouldn't even be in the show at all when it comes to Hobert's crimes??? Yes, transphobia is indefensible. Isn't racism?
And I hear the cries of "it's fiction!!!" Already rallying (if anyone who needs to hear this even sees it lol) to which I say:
HORSESHIT. I KNOW you don't, deep down, really agree because if you did, why get upset about Thessaly being included??? Why does what she said to one person matter if it's Just Fiction You Guyze. Fictional characters are allowed to do bad things and fiction isn't reality sweaty....except when you only apply that standard to fictional racists you like and simp for, but fictional transphobes you don't are SO HARMFUL they shouldn't even be portrayed in fiction.
Like. Give me a big fat BREAK. This looks like bullshit, no? I'm sorry, but I'd love for someone to try and give any other explanation besides one personally offended you or hit home for you, and the other doesn't.
And if that bothers you or you feel like it says something negative about you...idk what you want me to say??? You can't control how other people perceive you and that's how people outside this majority-of-the-fandom bubble see it. You don't need to respond, I just wish and genuinely hope this gives you a moment to think about why fans who ARE bothered by both (and not just paying lip service to being bothered by the one but railing against the other) are so frustrated with people saying everyone is welcome but in practice only bending over backwards for the comfort and emotions of themselves, and people they can easily relate to.
You don't have to like Thessaly (I don't. I find her an interesting antagonist, I don't stan her. And frankly that's not the point of her character) but you'll pardon me for feeling more than a bit cynical and side eying people's motivations for what seems a...pretty obvious double standard, on what fictional crimes related to real world issues matter to y'all, and which clearly don't. Either actually bring the same energy to the table for fictional people who committed atrocities, even if against a group you're not part of and thus don't feel the need to empathize with, or just carry on, but accept that you don't have the SLIGHTEST room to talk about cutting characters who do immoral things. And you also need to accept that you look like a hypocrite when you do.

Netflixvania fans will hate Mariacard because one's 16 and the other's an adult after shipping and continuing to ship Trephacard, which has a teenager shipped with two adults
EDIT: Okay I know this isn't obvious but it needs to be said, Netflix Maria uses the design of 12 year old Maria, but she's actually 16. SOTN Maria is 17, which makes her a year older than Netflix Maria. If there was a 5 year time skip in the show, that would make Maria 21.

maybe ive been too fucked up by growing up in america during the fucked up hypernationalistic war on terror era but I think it’s FUCKING DISGUSTING to see mainstream people praising the murder of civilians while days ago they were condemning it
it’s also super creepy that so many americans have blind allegiance to a government they don’t live under or actually understand
THATS why I was bothered by people earlier this week posting Israeli flags on their social media
just like. stop killing people on any fucking side, cheering for death is barbaric

There was an interaction I had with another author on here once where they said they liked my writing, even named a hyper specific scene in one of my fics that bombed, and yet they’d never liked or reblogged any of my shit. But I would always see them posting about how “if you enjoy a fic, you should reblog it. Support fanfic writers!!” And idk. I think about that a lot😂

sometimes I wonder if I should take a gender studies class just so I can bitch every day about how an imaginary boyfriend is often seen as a requirement for a woman to feel safe enough to have fun at a club, or the idea that an imaginary person with a fake “claim” over me has more influence over predatory men than my own voice saying “No, I’m not interested, get lost”

ok sorry i made a spontaneous post a while back cus i freaked out a little over it but is nobody else like actually disturbed by the existence of that public "blocklist" google spreadsheet thing that's here on e.nstars tumblr. like is nobody else concerned over the fact that there is a public list of Bad People that you could be added to at any time without your knowledge for even just thinking it's fine for a 17 year old and a 19 year old to date (perfectly normal.) what the fuck?
i got like an anon about it shortly after making my post & updating my pinned. an anon ask. i am mutuals with the majority of my followers that is suspicious as hell. and maybe they were asking a genuine question but it seemed awfully baity to me like they were trying to see if i needed to be added to the Bad People List
i understand curating a private blocklist like it's perfectly fine and normal, reasonable too, to have stuff you dislike seeing online so you like, block people who post that stuff... i also block people if i find them annoying or i dodge content that disturbs me. that isnt the issue. the issue is having all of this PUBLIC, that ANYONE can add to. it's just asking for people to be harassed, or worse. and maybe i'm alone in my anxiety i dunno but it makes me feel like i'm being watched or i have to walk on eggshells to not be deemed bad and be like punished for it. cus im no stranger to people ive recently met deciding im Bad off of a first impression and then twisting my words or going out of their way to villainise me because of it, it's a really dangerous power to hold. and i feel like its impossible to guess what people might think is Bad of me
a few people i know who arent on e.nstars tumblr agree with me on this but i havent seen anyone on here talking about it so im like wondering if im insane for this or something. is everyone else okay with this??? i dunno

I honestly like. I am so so tired today and I've had a bad and busy one and haven't had time to sit here and think about this. and I truly truly mainly think we lack enough information about this potential release to make any complete judgements on it. but as it stands right now I feel comfortable saying that I think constructing a new song, creating new pieces of it and releasing it now as a "Beatles song" does not sit right with me. I do not think the technology used is the issue here. this coming up in the same conversation as the AI discussion I think has created some confusion about exactly what its being used for- its just a form of remastering tracks. but the idea that this is something they've built up anew, for ME? isn't right. if it IS Now and Then I don't think its entirely right of them to use George's guitar from when they worked on it on anthology and put it out, and it wouldn't be right to do it without his work either.
George was insanely particular about his playing and would exhaustively rerecord his parts until he thought it was EXACTLY right. do you think he got there with a track he didn't think they should complete? whether or not he only didn't want to work with it due to the sound quality or not, using that recording now as a finished product doesn't align with that. as a rule of thumb I am very trusting of Olivia and Dhani's handling of George's legacy and all but something just feels off to me about this. I genuinely am asking because I don't know, but do we know how much of a say the Harrison estate has in things like this?
frankly the biggest thing bothering me about all of this is the way people have taken this as an opportunity to just be really openly shitty to George. he wasn't even mentioned in the interview and so many people are just framing this as an opportunity to stick it to George, or actively even saying pretty callous things about him being dead so thank god this could finally get made.
I do want to hear more about what this track is ACTUALLY going to be or going to look like but I'm really disappointed in a lot of people's reactions, whether it be encouraging MORE AI to be used in the production of music or if its jumping at the chance to talk shit on George and his position in the band. it's a sad sad day to look around at this community. I don't understand some of the people who call themselves fans here. I think we should put out old demo tracks fuckin all day long. Even if it is a recording of them playing here and now in the anthology session simply cleaned up, I don't see an issue with that. But finishing anything and changing it and calling it a new single? I'll feel a little strange about that.
