So a little bit more about the AU until I make a masterpost: It's only the Smiling Critters but The Hour of Joy still happens technically just for a different reason apart from the canon
This AU is detached from the game and partially the cartoon as well but the Hour of Joy is so iconic for Catnap, I decided to keep it :0 (As well as keeping the prototype but he's a whole different being in this AU)
They are in college BUT this is also a magical girl AU too so they have ✨powers✨ as well and Catnap's are just a lil fucked up, just a smidge
Still figuring out this VHS filter, this is a lot darker in color than I wanted buuuut it's the vibe, it's fine

Ok fuck it you know something I've never really quite understood about part of the Leftist vs Liberals debate on voting.
So so so many people act like its either-or. Like you're either dedicating your entire life to voting and promoting politicians and phone banking or whatever, or you're a True Rebel waiting for The Uprising to Come and Solve Everything.
But like. In my experience. Me voting is just me kinda go 'which person seems kinda good? Which one at least sucks the least? ok lemme go vote.' and then its anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour tops of my life. And I still have plenty of time to do Stuff and participate in Conversations about Other Important Things. And also you can admit and acknowledge and understand that the system As Is kinda sorta really sucks ass, but also still admit and acknowledge and understand that at this current point in time we are still living in the suckass system and do something to alleviate the suckass At Least A Little while also working to bolster/create/advocate for Other Systems.
I guess just like. it's not a black or white thing. Between 'top 500 volunteers for a specific politician/voting office/etc' and 'absolutely positively not voting at all' there is a gray area called 'vote and then just do other stuff'.

I don't have any concrete theories on what's going on w Jeremy's backstory but I am pretty confident in saying I think his other brother used to play exy as well. I think that's the reason why he doesn't want to be called by his last name only, bc that's what his brother would have been called while playing. Plus the idea that he chose exy over family? I think something happened w his brother related to exy and the rest of the family is pissed he continued to play.

it's sound weird, but i have headcanon that Hunter didn't go hexside, because he too old to shool(according to my feelings, at the end of the he is 16-17 y.o (except for the post-credits scene), and at that age it is already too late to go to school):p
i mean, well- in my opinion he rather certainly did go to hexside, since one of the things he'd said during his TTT monologue was "i'd like to attend hexside like a normal student and play flyer derby with my friends" and all of his "wishes" were supposed to sort of foreshadow his goals and his future (carving palismen, studying wild magic, etc etc) so i feel like it's safe to say he succeeded in becoming a hexside student as well. we also know he attended grom with the rest of his friend group, and like- since he's 16 before the timeskip (no canon certainty whether he's recently turned 16 or is going on 17 already though, but like... around 16 canonically) that means he'd get at least 1 year of school, but most likely 2+.
my personal headcanon is that he went to hexside for around 2 years (full or not quite, depending on when the school year starts in the boiling isles and how long it lasts; possibly even 3), and during that time he picked up a mentorship/apprenticeship at del's palisman carving shop, and after he graduated from hexside he started carving palismen professionally with the clawthornes (i like to think that he also takes some courses at eda's wild magic university in his spare time, simply cuz . funny uni hexsquad shenanigans)

So I'm trying to make a timeline for the pjo universe, and I just realized that Rick skipped a whole year. Like, in universe, he skipped a whole year. Percy went from being old for his grade to being young (he should have turned 18 before his senior year, but now he's turning 18 right before his freshman year of college). So Percy and Annabeth essentially skipped a year of school, because he turned 15 in the battle of the labyrinth and was going into his freshman year of high school by the end of the book, and then a year and a half later, during Trials of Apollo, he's all of a sudden in his senior year. Botl was right before his freshman year, tlo was right before his sophomore year, then he got taken by Hera a few months later, then hoo (minus the lost hero) was the next summer (which would be right after his sophomore year), but then about five months later, January of the next year (when toa starts), he's a senior in high school instead of a junior. Someone please get Rick Riordan a calendar...

=The Hearth=
[Weak of body and burdened with an old injury, your failing body will be your main concern. Be wary yet, this path is one of extreme peril.]
[Little Gods and Passing Beasts AU, aka roleswapped rain world! ;; more under the cut]
Looks to the Moon!! in hunter's campaign whoops. they will die in 30 ish cycles,, maybe 28.
(i dont think ive said yet but its a headcanon of mine that scugs dont have gender, not like we do. so. they them for every scug. iterators however get that sweet sweet Gender and also neopronouns)
anyway yeah the Hearth is the Hunter campaign, or hard mode, of Little Gods and Passing Beasts rw au. even worse actually, as Hearth has Monks shit spear throws in addition to the 'everything hates you, specifically' of Hunter's campaign. on the bright side the food pip requirement looks more like Survivor's. also, theres a lotta vultures. a Very Big difference in Hearths campaign to Hunter's though is that the cycle limit is a hard limit. apparently in Hunter you can go below 0 cycles? i didnt know that. but thats not a thing with Hearth, you do all the everything in 29 cycles then permadie. cope
the intro of Hearth actually places them close to RS, like how Hunter is placed in farm arrays not outskirts. if you successfully backtrack into RS she will give you five extra cycles like 5pebs does, but the trip might not actually be all that worth it cause i imagine Hearth starts juuust far enough that if you arent quick about it the five cycles you get will be negated as by the time you get back to where you started five cycles have already passed. maybe more. and thered be enemies in the way thatd kill you dead. anyway
the Hearths former slugcat colony is close by, right outside RSs retaining wall. some time before Hearths campaign, their little sibling had a hunt gone wrong. no scug died, but many were injured - the worst being Hearth themself - and the blame was put on their little sibling due to the unnecessary risks taken by them. they were exiled while Hearth was healing, unable to speak up in their defense. after Hearth deemed themself healed enough they left the colony in search of their little sibling. they didnt succeed, couldnt find them. time is running out.
while exploring the area, Hearth managed to get into Rushing Streams's can. after receiving the Mark of Communication they were asked by a frantic, frazzled, so very regretful god to deliver a golden pearl to iterator Explosive Redamancy, who is nearby and will have the medical facilities that RS does not, and should be able to heal Hearth even in her disrepaired, fallen state.
the Hearth suspects that an apology lies in the pearl, and suspects that ER will not be able to heal them. nonetheless, it was by kindness they earned their name, and it is kindness that defines them, and so with their remaining cycles they will deliver the pearl and expect nothing in return. it is only right. maybe, just maybe, if they are quick enough they can make it to the void sea they were told about, and wait for their little sibling there, at the end of everything

i’m genuinely baffled by this post below
the fact that rhaegar fighting on the trident is him protecting his family goes over these peoples heads. he died trying to protect them from the rebels, sorry that he failed. i very much doubt that he was trying to die. but based on this persons logic should we blame ned stark for the deaths of his family then? if you actually read the books then you’d know it was aerys who put the targaryen family in danger. it was aerys who didn’t give brandon and rickard a fair trial. it was aerys who called for robert and ned’s heads. it was aerys who decided to hold elia and her children hostage.
and it is mind boggling that people consider what rhaegar did as cheating. he and elia were in an arranged political marriage. we have very little reason to believe that there was any romantic love there. rhaegar falling in love outside of his political marriage is not some horrible evil act of malice. it’s simply the actions of a very depressed and stressed 20 something year old who finally fell in love.
and the fact that the op firmly states that rhaegar was a shitty prince, husband, and father is literally next level delusion. because from what little we know about rhaegar it is made clear that he was an incredible prince, a good husband who refused to risk elias life for a third child (even though he believed in the prophecy and was right about the prophecy being a big deal/azor ahai did indeed come from his family), and based on rhaenys actions during the sack of kings landing it’s clear that little girl loved her father.
i can’t say it enough. rhaegar died protecting his family. aerys was the one who doomed them. neither rhaegar nor elia owed each other love. nedcat is an exception in westeros.
and how is rhaegar one of the most unlikeable male targaryens? aegon the second and aemond are right there. there’s aegon the unworthy and aerys as well. imo rhaegar is probably one of the best male targaryens.
