I watched something recently about writing and journalling and the person went on to mention some writers who kept journals and some who didn't

But there was something so icky and morbid about the way the person expressed their disappointment for the writers who have passed who did not keep a diary.

Like, I understand very much that these people are long dead and no longer have the ability to care, but don't you think it's still fucked up to read someone's personal diary? Even after they're gone. They thought they had a safe place to externalize their thoughts and it turns out all they had to do was close their eyes for a moment and it's like that respect for their privacy was never there in the first place and now we know all their most personal thoughts and feelings.

Even if someone was never famous, I feel like rummaging through someone's things and finding their most personal collection of thoughts and deciding you have even the slightest right to them is just. Incorrect.

I just find it creepy and weird the way we feel the need to consume things that are So Intensely personal and intimate. Some things just aren't For Us. Even if we really really want to know what's inside. They never gave us their consent, they just lost their ability to continue to say No.

I'm not saying this to shame people who've read diaries before, I doubt most people really think about it much. There are exceptions at times, like with most things. But now you know to think about the humanity of these people before you read their journals. Not everything that's personal needs to be the raw, unedited, innersoul of someone's entire being.

There are instances even, where people publish their diaries because they Have given their consent to have them be read. These are called memoirs and autobiographies and these both still allow the writer their dignity and autonomy.

We should have to improve more our inner selves than improving our outer appearance because what we radiate it's what we have in our hearts, our desires our thoughts our gratitude... People just thinks that by being "pretty" or just having a pretty face will have the world and will achieve happiness, but deeply, that's not the main reason of being happy, real happiness comes when you know and value yourself, when you speak with your truth and equally love others ,when you're kind to others and yourself , when you know your worth...
