-i feel like he couldn't hold back his jealousy, he tried his best, but when he saw how close you got to one of the members, although you were just friends, he could not hold it back anymore, or maybe he didn't want to

-he walks up to you when you're talking with seonghwa, he sees how happy you looked, you were laughing, but when seonghwa put his hand on your shoulder, he felt like he's about to explode with anger

-it wasn't anything serious, you knew it, seonghwa knew it and hongjoong knew it too, it was a friendly touch, but you knew your boyfriend can get a bit possessive, although never in a toxic way

-so he basically removes seonghwa's hand from your shoulder, he isn't saying a word, just grabs your hand and pulls you aside

-he's not going to mention it until you arrive home

-i think arguments with seonghwa are about just misunderstanding each other, because of miscommunication or lack of communication because neither of you wants to hurt the other, but it just causes an uneasy feeling in both of you

-one-night seonghwa asked you to do the dishes until he takes a shower, so you two can go to bed earlier, but you were on your phone and time just flew by, and you completely forgot to do them

-when he came out of the bathroom he saw you sitting in the same position just as he left you, he didn't wanna mention it because he's not one who will scold you for such a thing, but it hurt him a little how you ignored him

-after he finished washing the dishes, he went straight to the bedroom to get ready to sleep, you noticed that something is wrong when he didn't speak to you when you asked him a question, you genuinely forgot about your duties so you were hurt by his actions too

-the lack of communication caused an argument between you, so expect of going to bed earlier you two were up all night because of it

-okay this one is hard because I feel like it's really rare to have an argument with yunho, but when it happens it's mostly because of you (sorry not sorry, but this man is perfect)

-so you two went out to get some coffee in the morning, it was your usual routine nothing special

-the problem started when the barista at this new coffee shop you went to was one of his old classmates, you didn't want to see more into it, but you couldn't help but feel insecure, your boyfriend is literally THE PERFECT MAN

-when you saw that the girl was clearly flirting with him you didn't blame her, you would probably do the same in her shoes, but you felt invisible next to him

-yunho knew something is off when you refused to hold his hand the way back to your apartment

-you didn't really want to cook dinner in the first place, you were very tired, but you started anyways because you knew your boyfriend is hungry and so are you

-you were confused when the doorbell rang, who in the hell would disturb you at this time, when you opened the door and saw the delivery guy with fried chicken in his hands saying this is for kang yeosang you just lost it

-yeosang didn't know you were preparing dinner for him, and was genuinely sorry, but you just needed some time to calm down

-san is a really sensitive guy, he loves you more than anything so it's rare that he hurt you, he is very careful to not do that ever, but sometimes it happens anyway

-yesterday he told you he would come pick you up after his dance practice since you finished at the same time as he, so you can go home together, you were so excited about it the whole day

-when you were waiting for more than anhour for san, you knew he forgot about you and he is not coming, for god sake he didn't even pick up his phone

-you weren't mad at him, you knew he is a busy man, but you couldn't help but feel disappointed, you would at least expect a text from him or something

- it was around 8 o'clock at night, he came home, three hours later

-he told you how sorry he is, and that he went straight to your workplace when he noticed that he screwed up, he said he forgot to check the time, you still weren't mad at him and he hated that the most, he wanted you to be mad at him because he was mad at himself

-do I really have to say it? he is upset with you because he feels like you don't give him enough attention, he just wants to spend every time he has with you, he feels like you abonded his moral loyalty

-you told him that you're gonna meet up with your friend since you both are free and you haven't met in a long time

-he wouldn't have any problem with this if he didn't have his day off today too, he planned that he would spend the whole day with you as he always does on these are occasions

-he told you about how upset he is that you are going out without him, when he is willingly giving you all his free time, and you are just leaving him here all alone

-you know how clingy is your boyfriend, and why is he upset, but you are literally spend every day together, either it's a workday or his free day, so you didn't understand why is this time any more special than the other

-he just got more upset of that, saying for him every time with you is special, and you knew that of course you felt the same way, you didn't mean it like that

-i feel like from all the boys it's wooyoung who's most likely to have a heated argument with, although it's never that serious

-you argue about stupid little things all the time, like you ate one of his snacks that he wanted to eat or he left his clothes all over the floor, but again it's never that serious, like it happens always every day you don't even notice it when it happens

-but one day one of these small arguments turned into something bigger, it shouldn't have been but it did, there was a lot of yelling and screaming at each other

-wooyoung raised his voice at you more than he planned to, and not just you got scared but he did too, he was really quick to apologize when he noticed how upset it made you

-it almost never happens again, you both are cautious about it from now on

jongho

-it started as a joke, it was funny to you too in the beginning, but with time you couldn't help but feel more and more insecure

-you weren't someone who couldn't joke about themselves, and it was the same for jongho, you often joked about each other, and it never caused any harm to oneanother because you both knew neither of you actually meant it

-but this one time you felt more insecure than ever, and one of jongho's joke hit home real hard, first you didn't want to mention it to him because you knew it wasn't something that he meant to hurt you

-so you moved aside, and let out all your emotions you cried for some time and unfortunately for you jongho found you, he didn't understand first what happened, but he never had the intention to hurt your feelings

-it wasn't really an argument because you never ever argue, you just sat down and talked about it, he pays more attention from now on to what he jokes about

Alexis Ness

Words of affirmation: He's very big on this one. Always reminding you of how much he loves you and repeating the many reasons why he fell in love with you over and over. He also tells pretty much everyone he meets about his love for you as well. He never really shuts up about it either, unless someone makes him. (That someone is usually Kaiser who ends up getting jealous when Ness talks about you.)

Acts of service: Definitely his main love language. To Ness, it's just natural to help you out with even the smallest tasks. Even if you invite him to your place, he does things like cooking, cleaning, etc. And most of the time, he refuses to accept your help. He either tells you to take a nap to get some rest or he tells you to sit down somewhere near him so you can talk to him while he does what's supposed to be your task. If you ever try to do the same at his place, he won't allow it. He loves doing acts of service for you, but always feels bad if you try to do them for him.

Gift-giving and -receiving: Honestly, Ness isn't as much of a gift-giver as you'd expect him to be. Sure, for special occasions like holidays, birthdays and anniversaries he gets you special gifts but there's not much in between those times. He prefers letting his actions and words speak for his love! But if you give him a present, he won't stop thanking you for it for at least two weeks. He always inserts "Thank you for giving me (present)" into random conversations.

Quality time: If he could, Ness would spend every single second of his life with you. He loves being around you and will never get tired of it, no matter if he's just sitting next to you while watching cute animal videos on your phone or talking to each other while he cleans your dishes. If you're simply in the same room together, that's all he could ask for.

Physical touch: Ness himself isn't that touchy and actually tends to get a bit shy with initiating physical touch. He still loves it a lot, though! You just have to be the one to pull him in for hugs and kisses because he gets flustered from only asking if it's okay to hold your hand.

Michael Kaiser

Words of affirmation: At the beginning of the relationship, he didn't say "I love you" that much. It definitely took him a while to get comfortable with giving verbal affection. It wasn't because he was shy or nervous about it, but just because he wasn't used to verbally expressing his love to someone who isn't himself. As soon as he got used to it he realized how good it feels to express his love and admiration for you in words. He also compliments you a lot and tells you how great you are over and over! The only issue is, he likes to talk other people down when he compliments you. For example, if you do better at something than someone else he knows, he will specifically point that out, even if that person is around.

Acts of service: He doesn't mind helping you out with whatever you need help with, but he usually doesn't initiate acts of service on his own. Well, that's what he thinks at least. When it comes to bigger things like cleaning up or needing something to be repaired, you definitely need to ask him for help. But subconsciously, Kaiser does little acts of service like making your favourite coffee/tea/any other beverage if he wakes up first in the morning and also opens doors for you all the time. But Kaiser doesn't consider those things "acts of service."

Gift-giving and -receiving: Kaiser is a massive gift-giver and it's probably his main love language. He absolutely loves to spoil you with anything you want and whenever you go shopping with him, you don't even need to take your wallet along because Kaiser insists on paying literally anything. You need new shoes? You saw a cute plushie? You're hungry and want food? Kaiser pays all of it. And besides that, he surprises you with random presents all the time. He's horrible at accepting any gifts from you, though. He loves them and appreciates everything you give to him very much, but he can't accept a present without giving you back the double amount of it the next day.

Quality time: You're the only person Kaiser can stand being around for a longer span of time without getting completely irritated at some point. Well, Ness might be an exception to some degree as well, but for him, there are other reasons. Anyways. Kaiser didn't expect himself to genuinely need you around as much as he does. He thought he can be just fine with how much time you already spent together, but almost every day he finds himself craving to be with you again, even if you already saw each other the day prior. Most of the time, he gives in to that and goes to wherever you are - even if you're busy with something - just to be around you.

Physical touch: If gift-giving isn't his main love language, then it's physical touch. Even before he was used to giving you verbal affection, he was very big on giving you as much physical affection as possible. Not only does he love holding your hand in public and cuddling you until you fall asleep in his arms, but he's extremely obsessed with kissing you. Not only on your lips, but also anywhere else on your body. Whatever body part(s) you're insecure about, Kaiser will shower you with kisses there to show you that even if you're unhappy with yourself, he adores everything about you.

Benedict Grim

Words of affirmation: His main love language by far. Even before you started dating he always expressed everything he loves about you very openly and he's always showered you with tons of compliments as well. So when you became a couple, that amount doubled or even tripled. He can't even say "I love you" without adding a reason why he loves you or a compliment. And that also drifts into complimenting you more and more all the time. The most surprising part is that he always seems to find new things to say or new ways to express his thoughts because somehow, he rarely repeats himself.

Acts of service: He'd do literally anything you ask him to. But only if you ask him to. He totally doesn't mind helping you out, but he can't initiate acts of service on his own that often. He needs to know, usually in detail, what you'd like him to do. And it's the same the other way around! If he needs your help with anything, he simply asks you. You just don't want each other to feel as if you'd expect the other to know what to do without saying anything to them first.

Gift-giving and -receiving: He doesn't give you presents that often, but when he does it's mainly to see your reactions because he adores seeing you happy so much! Also, he puts a lot of thought into what he gives you. You'd be happy about anything and he knows that, but that's exactly why he's putting so much thought into presents for you. He doesn't only want you to be happy, he wants you to be amazed and feel extra loved when you see how much thought he put into it. Whenever he receives a present for you, no matter how small or big it is, he acts very overdramatic over them - in a positive way, of course. He always thanks you with lots of hugs and kisses!

Quality time: Whenever you spend time together, no matter what you're doing, Grim always makes sure there will be no distractions at all. Most of the time, he turns his phone off completely so there won't be any distractions and he can put his full attention on having a great time with you. He always says if he's with you, the rest of the world needs to wait.

Physical touch: He always has moments or phases when he gets really physically close, but most of the time he isn't really that touchy. He kisses you a lot and he's also very big on hugs as a greeting and goodbye, but besides that, he doesn't initiate physical affection that often. He doesn't mind if you do it, though!

Erik Gesner

Words of affirmation: Probably his main love language, but let's just say... Gesner has his own way of showing verbal affection. He doesn't say "I love you" often and he rarely says direct compliments. He expresses his love for you by giving you silly nicknames, making jokes and teasing you instead. It's always obvious that he does it in the most loving way possible and even if some things can sound insulting, it's his way of expressing love with words. Besides, you know he'd never seriously be mean and you get to insult him back anyways. But especially because he's typically not the type of guy to say "I love you" he makes sure to say it in moments he sees as most special.

Acts of service: He does acts of service all the time, but never consciously. Whenever he's at your place, he just spots something that's broken and fixes it on the side while talking to you. He doesn't realize he's doing it and you don't tell him either because it's kind of funny to see how he's picking up something, fixes it and puts it back in its place. Also, if he sees items that aren't in their usual place, he puts them where they belong. He never pays attention to the fact that he's doing it and you never really notice him doing that either. Just as soon as he's gone you see how your place looks a little less messy.

Gift-giving and -receiving: It's not his main love language, but he gives you little presents at least once a week. It's always something small and usually silly looking as well. Just tiny things that reminded him of you like "Here's a little keychain of a chicken because we walked past a farm last week." Stuff like that. And even if it isn't romantic in the usual way, you adore your little collection of silly things a lot. When it comes to receiving gifts from you, Gesner is horrible at saying "thank you." He tries to say anything else, like a little joke, to show you he appreciates your gift. But for you, that's totally okay because you know he adores whatever you give him, even if he can't verbally express it.

Quality time: He could have you around 24/7 and never get tired of you. He just wants to be with you all the time because he's never met someone who understands him so well and shares the same humour as him. Really, any time spent with Gesner is quality time because he manages to make even the smallest things fun and entertaining. Especially if he thinks something is boring, he tries to spice it up in some way so at least you don't get bored.

Physical touch: He doesn't realize it, but he's super touchy. When you're not holding hands he either wraps his arm around your shoulder or your waist. When you're sitting next to each other he also often lifts you up out of nowhere and places you on his lap. He likes to sit on your lap as well from time to time. He really doesn't have a preference, but lifting you up is just easier and quicker for him.

My softest thought of the day: Having a stressful/bad day, you feel like the world hates you, but when you get home you meet your boyfriend Sungchan! who, just by seeing your face, knows what's going on in your mind. He extends his arms and says "Welcome home" with the brightest smile he can give you, and then he simply squeezes you very tightly and gives you a sweet kiss on the forehead, hoping that that can lower your low mood a little. And then tease you a little "My sweet girl can only smile when she's with me, huh? I guess you're not so sweet after all" and finally give you a sweet kiss on the lips.

Holiday headcanons with the owl house characters:

Characters will be: Adrian (he's my fav, so he's bound to show up in these 😅) Darius, Steve, Belos. Part 1? Might do more of these, but I'm not sure

Adrian

Halloween:

Pumpkin picking - he won't see what you find so enjoyable about waltzing through mud and constantly picking up and putting down different pumpkins. But his displeasure will fade when he sees the bright smile on your face when you find the two you want, giggling as you hand him on to hold, his arms will be burning holding it, but your soft laughter as you talk about different designs makes him stop thinking about the pain.

Pumpkin carving - he wants to impress you, so picks an extremely difficult design, whereas you go for the more traditional triangle eyes design. He immediately begins to struggle, so you take his hand and help him with it if there's a part where the knife just wont budge, and grabbing your own knife when there's too much to do for him alone.

Costume - definitely wants a matching costume. Belos isn't a fan of Halloween parties, so the coven heads organised it. He'll probably go for something from a film you both enjoy, and will spend hours making sure you both look flawless. He'll even do your makeup for you, focusing on the smallest details. He wants to show you off after all.

Decoration - He plays the director persona, so he's bound to have props to make his illusions feel more real. So when you discovered a cupboard filled with all sorts of props and decorations, you went crazy, covering your quarters head to toe in Halloween decor, all while Adrian was soundly asleep. So he got the shock of his life when your luxurious quarters were turned into a horror film set. At first he was worried that maybe you'd taken it a bit too far, he saw you sat on the floor, trying to untangle some lights, but accidentally wrapping them around you, he couldn't help but sigh and help you. After all it was only once a year, he could live with this.

Christmas:

Christmas markets - he adores getting dressed in fluffy thick coats with you, holding each others gloved hands in his pockets, so not to loose you in the crowd, as you gently pull him around, getting distracted by bright coloured lights and all sorts of gifts you could give to your friends and family.

Mistletoe - You know he's going to be waiting under one all day till you notice. He'll even try to draw your attention by calling you over, so when you come up to him wondering what he wants and he gives you a peck, you think he's just being affectionate, much to his confusion, before realising you're completely oblivious to the plant above the both of you. But when one doesn't work, he'll literally cover each doorway in mistletoe, still confused as to why he was kissing you so much, not that you minded. So when you do inevitably look up, and your face is beat red, he's going to give you the biggest kiss ever. You may be oblivious, but it makes it all the more fun for him.

Baking - Despite his appearance, he loves baking, but only if its with you, since he has no idea what he's doing and needs you to guide him, otherwise you'll probably be eating a handful of burnt flour and butter. In the end, you'll end up making things for him while he hands you ingredients, playing music and dancing with you as things are put in the oven. But his favourite part is the decorating, where he'll not so subtly put icing on your nose.

Gifts - He's a mix between getting you things that'll be practical, like a new dressing gown, so you can match, obviously in light blue, or a piece of jewellery he knows you've been eyeing up for a while, telling him you're saving for it. But mostly gets you things he knows you'll adore and cherish. He absolutely adored one that you made for him, a tail warmer. It was custom made for his, measured to perfection and in his favourite shade of blue, which he wore all the time in colder months.

Darius

Halloween:

Pumpkin picking - He will refuse to hold one, he's not getting dirt on his gloves. At all. He'll happily watch you, seeing you struggle to carry one, bending over and waddling to carry it to where ever you need to. He'll give it a few minutes before summoning an abomination for the both of you to carry them. He wont let you pick his, he's very nick picky about it. He'll be there for ages, looking at various pumpkins, but he'll soon find the perfect one, as he hands it over to his abomination when you link arms with him, and he holds your hand as you get excited over the different designs to carve on them.

Pumpkin carving - He'll draw out the designs for you two, but he'll get his mini abomination to cut it out for him, not wanting to get pumpkin juice on his gloves and clothes. But he'll watch over you carve, pointing out different things to do or to change angle, in his head it sounds like he's just advising you, but his tone is more like demanding, he sometimes needs to do tone checks.

Costume - He's not really one for matching costumes, but you know he'll make sure you both look perfect, more so you, he wants to show you off. He'll even make the costumes himself, he knows your measurements, so its no hassle for him.

Decoration - I don't think he'd be too thrilled waking up one day and seeing his quarters being turned into a grave yard. He didn't even have any decorations, but he's too afraid to ask you where you got them from, when some of the decorations look a little too realistic. But he may sit down and help you, wanting to get excited over your hobbies and interests too.

Christmas:

Christmas markets - You know he's got you wrapped up, despite your protests of wanting to look cute so you can take nice photos, he wants you to be warm and not catch the common mould. But he'll make sure you look cute, in his eyes at least, abomination themed hat, scarf and gloves. But he enjoys going around looking at various stalls and watching you jump up and down over the smallest things, like little palisman themed earrings, which he makes a mental note of.

Mistletoe - Surprisingly he does like having plants in the house, to help with relaxation and just general decoration. He'll hang it up in one spot where he knows you'll definitely see it. He wont wait under it, but he may stand around it, but the look on your face when you see it, drop everything and charge full speed over to him to give him a kiss will always put a blush on his cheeks, out of fear and love.

Baking - Like sewing, he's very talented at baking too. Anything you want he'll make. But over Christmas, he'll especially make your favourite treats for you both to snack on. If you try to take a sweet treat from the hot tray fresh out of the oven, he'll playfully slap your hand away with his oven mitt and will give you an hour long lecture on why its bad to touch hot trays and things that have just come out of the oven. Christmas or not, safety comes first.

Gifts - He's definitely more on the practical side, like giving you scented bath mixture for your spa days, or things you need for missions that needed replacing, like an abomination goo pouch. But he does take into consideration things you've after or looking at most of the year, and definitely gets them the minute you mention it.

Steve

Halloween:

Pumpkin picking - If you're excited about Halloween, he'll 100% match the energy and excitement you're feeling. He'll be the one to spend hours in a field with you, he even considers growing them yourselves, to make them even more special, which you very quickly and happily take up. But he may be too eager and makes one massive one, which only makes it all the more fun for the both of you.

Pumpkin carving - Honestly, if he's having fun, he won't mind what it looks like. He'll flick pumpkin seeds at you, and then turn away, claiming there must be an invisible man, which triggers a pumpkin war, throwing the pumpkin insides at each other, and using the seeds as projectiles.

Costume - He's going all out. He'll even use illusions to make them all the more realistic, which you have to tell him to tone down when 1) Adrian looks immensely jealous of his ability and may start a fight, and 2) are too realistic to the point people are actually afraid of you. You appreciate the gesture though.

Decoration - Like the costumes, he's going all out, if you've already got them out, hell drop whatever he's doing to help you. Even when you've got all your decorations up, that wont be enough and he'll conjure more, wanting you to have a full Halloween experience, even if it means your living quarters become uninhabitable with the amount of decorations that's in the room.

Christmas:

Christmas markets - He'll make sure to take tonnes of photos, even if they're ugly and the angles all wrong, you know he's going to save them to use for things like birthday cards. He'll hold your hand the entire time, unless you're trying to buy something, then he'll keep it around your waist. He's gonna carry everything you buy, even if you don't ask him to.

Mistletoe - He's the type to hold the flower all day and suddenly spring it from behind his back and above you whenever he wants a kiss.

Baking - It'll be chaos. He doesn't know what he's doing, he'll try, but there'll be flower, sugar. butter everywhere. He'll clean it up with you, but not before sprinkling it on you, earning another war. But despite this, he'll still eat whatever's been made, even if it comes out wrong, hell still say its the most amazing thing he's eaten and encourages you to keep baking and that you'll get it right eventually.

Gifts - He's 100% gonna get you stuff your interested in, with maybe a few cute things like a plushie that reminded him of you, or a jumper he thought you'd look amazing in. If you've mentioned something, he's already bought it within the hour, but honestly he gets stuff that he knows you'll absolutely love and gush over.

Belos

Halloween:

Pumpkin picking - He'll pick a pumpkin for the decoration, but he defiantly won't carve it. He's only doing it because you begged him to come, wanting to spend more time with him and enjoy a mini holiday together. You knew his feelings towards Halloween, so you try to keep it lowkey, but you cant help getting excited on some parts of it, and Belos himself will feel a small smile form on his face when he sees how cheery you get picking out a pumpkin for him and handing it to him.

Pumpkin carving - He won't carve one himself, but he'll gladly watch you, making sure your safe and not going to hurt yourself trying to carve intercut patterns. Watching you reminds him of Caleb, so he's fond of you carving, and finds enjoyment in your designs, coming up with something new each year. He'll proudly display it by his thrown for all to see who entre. No one would dare do anything to it with the fear of being petrified for defacing his lovers work.

Costume - Again, he wouldn't dress up, he'd discourage you from doing it, under the guise of 'I'm the emperor, your my partner, it's not an activity we should be dabbling in.' He'll go to the parties with you after some convincing from your end, telling him it'll just be social and see how his workers are getting on, to properly motivate them, even give the coven a good impression that you involve yourself in the small things. And somehow it works, but he'll definitely stand to the side as you engage in conversation and maybe a dance or two.

Decoration - Nope, he's not doing it. No amount of convincing can change his mind. He doesn't mind others doing it, but him. Absolutely not.

Christmas:

Christmas markets - He'll be interested, but he may not go out of his way to go unless you drag him along, just because he's a busy man, he has an empire to run. But if he does happen to go, he's glad he does, as he watches you try to catch falling snow in your hands and maybe with your mouth, trying to encourage him to do the same. He disagrees, worried about his reputation, but can't help but smirk at you. He defiantly has to keep you close, if you're over eager and wanting to go all over the place, he'll worry, so practically keeps you attached to him, holding your hand. He doesn't really get much of a chance to look around as you hop from stall to stall, but he doesn't mind.

Mistletoe - He'll put some up, not realising you've dotted some all over the castle, which came at a surprise to him when he was strolling down one of the many corridors and was suddenly attacked by you, planting a kiss on his face. He figured you were just being affectionate, until he looks up to see mistletoe tied in a yellow ribbon. After seeing it once, he thinks he's going mad when he keeps seeing them everywhere, but you happily informed him that was your doing. He relaxes, but makes sure to swerve around them, not because he doesn't want to kiss you, but with the amount you put around the castle, he's going to be worn out by the end of the day.

Baking - He doesn't bake, but he does get one of his scouts to do some for you. You really wanted to bake with him, but he doesn't get much time free, so he sent you different treats to your room as an apology. You accept, but he surprises you one evening when he sneaks you into the kitchen to watch you bake all sorts of things, even making some for the coven heads and scouts, knowing how hard they've been working.

Gifts - Only practical. Unless you mentioned something really specific to him, it'll be things that'll be useful to your everyday life. New shoes, accessories, if you work a lot then probably some fancy pens and note book. He tries.

Ann Leckie actually casually and effortlessly and genuinely including physically disabled characters and letting the characters become physically disabled over the course of the story is really making me hate Martha Wells' refusal to let even the smallest injury last more and more.

She's always got a magical fucking cure for everything. Either a literal magical healing coma or the exact same thing now with a scifi twist. No one ever gets hurt in a way that matters, Moon, Jade, Murderbot, they just get back up and keep on going and nothing will slow them down. The only reason Malachite has scars is to make her cool and intimidating. They don't cause her pain that we know of. It's just set dressing. They're literally just cosmetic.

Not even Flower, who was so old her scales turned white, has any real trouble getting around. She fucking leapt perfectly straight into a Kethel's mouth. That is a feat that requires agility and speed.

Because physically disabled people just aren't cool enough to be allowed to exist in Martha Wells' settings, I guess!!!

Like, I can fucking hope that Murderbot's wrist at the very fucking least will be permanently fucked up because of what happened in the last chronological book, but I fucking doubt it.

Martha Wells has had six books to include any kind of lasting damage, to let Murderbot even become slightly physically disabled, and that was even when Murderbot didn't have the kind of help it was designed to even receive.

She hasn't even introduced any physically disabled characters at all.

Dr. Bharadwaj isn't even implied to be physically disabled now even after she almost died getting almost eaten by a space graboid. And she's not even fucking on-screen 99% of the time anyways, her using a fucking cane would take maybe five fucking additional words and change nothing, except letting physically disabled people fucking exist in the easiest way ever.

It's just really fucking getting infuriating every time Breq continues to be physically disabled without it being fucking wiped away and even the way Seivarden's addiction is handled and Tisarwat's depression and how none of these people are treated badly or shamed by the narrative for needing help, and meanwhile Martha Wells magically cures everything and then the only physically disabled characters who are ever mentioned are enslaved people who can't feel pain and are drugged to be in a frenzy and we're just casually told they're, and I quote, "less sentient than a hauler bot", (even though...hauler bots are supposed to fucking be fucking people deserving of respect in this universe???) and it's just fucking infuriating.

Martha Wells reads a trilogy where the main character is physically disabled as a result of an accident in the first book and continues to be physically disabled throughout the story including receiving more fucking disabling injuries, and the other main character is a recovering addict, and another character takes antidepressants, and pronouns and gender get discussed within the first scene of the first book, and continue to be relevant, and two characters literally have a conversation about the pronouns they use....

and then Martha Wells decides not to even use the word "pronouns" in any fucking capacity or context and decides cyborgs, who by all logic and her own fucking worldbuilding are physically disabled people, just are casually viewed as not being human, and then two fucking humans who have been forcibly addicted to drugs and disabled are so subhuman that they're "less sentient than hauler bots" and "not a person before they were even killed the first time" and no one even tries to help them and we aren't even supposed to notice this. We're not supposed to care.

If you're not ableist, and you don't want to be ableist, have physically disabled characters. Let your characters become physically disabled over the course of the story. Do not fucking magically heal everything away.

- however, he is still very happy to have you around, it makes him feel special,

- asks you about the afterlife, but will understand if it makes you uncomfortable,

Soldier

- he doesn't mind. I mean, he already had a wizard roommate,

- but he's very jealous of your wings, he wants ones too,

- when he's feeling down, you use some extra strength to give him a short fly in your arms. It's usually short, because he's not the smallest, but it's worth it every time,

Pyro

- in their Pyrovision, they would see you as an angel anyway, so doesn't change much for them,

- still, they will do everything to not accidentally set your wings on fire,

- due to your supernatural setting, you're one of the few people that can actually understand them,

- this firebug ain't afraid of anything, but is still very anxious to ask about your " powers ", in fact they don't even know if you have any,

Demoman

- when he first saw you, he genuinely thought his liver stopped working and he died,

- but other than that little accident, Tavish is a sweetheart,

- he is a bit overprotective, and will make sure you don't get into the mercenary business,

- let's just hope you don't want to meet his mother,

- " momma always told ya there's an angel watchin' over ya ",

- Eyelander likes you too,

Heavy

- Mikhail might seem tough outside, but is actually pretty worned up from all the fights,

- you are like his last hope. Much like Scout, the fact that he got a literal angel in love with him makes him feel special,

- he spends most of his free time making up angel related pet names,

Engineer

- get ready to help him with his projects,

- he needs to know how his teleporters affect supernatural beings ( he wants to know if you will or won't have tumors ),

- other than that, Dell will gladly use his handiness to help you with everyday things that seem easy for humans,

- after hard day at work, he gladly flops into the embrace of your wings and refuses to move from there,

Medic

- let's just hope you don't being experimented on...in the name of science!

- seriously, he is very, very curious about the whole angel thing, and he wants to know how exactly it works,

- you're the only person that actually is capable to remember all of his dove's names,

- he will compare you to said doves, especially the wings,

Sniper

- this man feels miserable for you. Really, you are a cosmic being, and he lives in a van,

- but with some reassurance, he understands that you really don't regret being with him,

- much like Engie, he will flop into your wings after a hard day,

- the difference being he loves touching them, they're very fluffy,

- he will run his hands through them to calm down,

Spy

- he loves to compare you to historical art of angels, in fact he would even commission one piece just for you,

- he trusts you with his real identity, more than he would trust another human,

- maybe secretly tries not to smoke as much around you, to not " ruin your purity ",

- if a feather falls from your wing, he will keep it in his Spytron.

Midnight Rendezvous

Continuing the miniseries that was based on the promptober list that @/Bittykimmy13 made.

This is part 4 of Forlorn

A tantalizing aroma filled the air as the expertly carved steaks was finally served. While the cuisine was delightful to the senses, the two friends paid little mind to it at first as they focused instead on each other in their small, yet still important chatter. These talks were short lived yet welcomed, for long, awkward pauses often followed between each sentence. But as time went on their wariness lessened, and the atmosphere would gradually turn into a welcoming calm.

Richard barely touched his plate, despite a Wile giant's typical response to fresh, grade-A meat. This wasn't something that Jac took lightly, for she assumed since he got here that the shrunken Wile had neglected his appetite for far too long.

"Eat up," Jac reminded. "You're beginning to look like skin and bones under that suit! You can't hide that from me.."

"No I don't..." Richard mumbled.

Jac then cuts out a large piece of beef and shoved it into his mouth.

"Good, right?"

Richard was annoyed by this gesture but ultimately couldn't refuse. After the swallow, his eyelids sprung upward, and at long last his stomach trembled desperately for more. He leered at the still sizzling meat for a few seconds before he started to dig into it quite menacingly. While he was more than ready to forgo utensils in favor of sinking his teeth into it literally, he knew that maintaining a proper form was the safer option in a place like this. He still looked less than humble, to put it gently, and Jac couldn't help but crack a smile at the sight of him destroying his meal.

"This is barely enough to satisfy you." She laughed.

Wiping his mouth, the Wile gave out a toothy, yet softer than normal grin.

"I have work arounds. Even so... to be honest... I had considered staying in this size for a little while longer."

"Wha, really? Wouldn't... that take up a lot of energy?"

"I'll be okay. If Beta Wiles can handle it, then I shouldn't have a problem."

"It's... not like you though... Is there some other reason for this?"

Richard lowered his napkin and stared blankly at his empty plate. He was still taking his time to say anything, for his overwhelming guilt showed no signs of stopping anytime soon. Even the smallest of words required careful consideration, and Jac understood this. Although she appreciated this approach, she was far from fond of it.

"Please... you don't have to be scared of me. Do you think that every little thing you say is going to make me angry?"

"...No... It's not that..."

"You're afraid of messing up, even if it's by accident... is that it?"

"Yeah." Richard sighed. "Is it... ok if I ask you something?"

"Sure."

Richard sighed and spoke as softly as he could.

"I... would like to go somewhere in the human district. Since... I'm in the proper height to actually be allowed inside now, haha. I would, like to walk with you... and talk, and listen... If, that's okay of course."

Jac was quiet for a moment, yet she never looked away from the shrunken Wile's face. She rose to her feet before she placed a hand over his forehead.

"You don't seem warmer than usual."

"I'm fine..." Richard grumbled.

"Well... to answer your question I... don't mind that at all if I gotta be honest. But, I don't want you to be uncomfortable for my sake! We can always do something in your true height, and on a separate night if you're too tired. It's not a big deal."

"Jac, I want this. It's the main reason why I... well..."

Jac cocked an eyebrow and pondered for a minute. Surely there was no foul play here, after all her best friend was clearly too afraid to do anything remotely manipulative. Her caution was warranted, but ultimately trust paved the way to her final decision.

"Well, if it isn't that much harder for you, then... yeah. I would like that."

Richard could not express the relief he felt upon hearing those words. For the first time in forever it seemed, he was finally able to crack a proper smile.

After Jac ate her fill, the duo left Frederico's upon Jac's insistence with paying half of the bill. A small squabble between these two over money duties was nothing new, and after a few minutes they were able to laugh it off without much worry.

They walked for some ways in a quiet street, the stars obscured by the giant streetlights a hundred feet above. Jac never enjoyed walking beneath them, and secretly wished that she could ride under the crook of the giant's neck to avoid these flickering annoyances altogether. Her focus then turned to Richard, who was already feeling the strain of walking without, at least by his normal standard, covering much ground.

"Are you sure you're ok?"

"Yeah! I... need a bit of a workout. So, uh... where were we heading to again?"

"Shi...su... I forget the name. But it's a garden located on the other side of town. The view is fantastic at night, and every time I visit I always wished that you could be there to see it."

"That sounds great." Richard replied, his thoughts enamored by the visuals described.

"We have to take the monorail to get there, but it's open to the public all night. Think that'll be all right with you?"

"Yeah! Let's go then."

He reached out but suddenly stopped midway, his hand shaking subtly in the air. Jac gave him a puzzled look before he decided to pull back.

"I'm sorry." He sighed.

"For what?"

Jac then took out her own hand and grabbed his, which caused him to panic for a split second.

"C'mon! We haven't got all night!" She chuckled.

Jac had virtually pulled Richard for a few steps before he finally followed along. They continued like this for over a minute with the latter not knowing what to say or how to feel about it. Realizing this, Jac slowed down her pace.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Is... this ok?"

"What do you mean?"

"The... hand..."

Jac looked down at her hand, which held a firm grip on Richard's digits. His was loose, however, and she realized then that they were still trembling.

"You don't... like this?"

"No! I... uh, I'm not used to it."

"That's okay. I'm sorry."

Jac then let go of the Wile's palm and walked a little ways ahead of him.

"Nonono! It's fine!" Richard said. "It just... caught me off guard."

"Yeah, I... should have given you a warning."

"Don't say that..."

The two strolled for a few moments before Jac broke the silence.

"I... always wanted to hold your hand. I just thought it would be kinda neat, that's all."

"So... that's, ok with you?"

"Yeah! Of course! Why didn't you think it would be?"

Richard didn't reply straight away, though Jac was able to put the pieces together on her own.

"I see... that's, why I decided to stop. If you're not comfortable with that, then--"

"Nono, I'm not... it's... hard to explain."

"It's confusing, right?"

"Yeah... I suppose so."

"It's okay." Jac sighed through her nose before continuing. "Society instilled the idea of holding hands as being more than just a thing that friends would do... Just know that... I personally don't agree with that."

As soon as they were finally away from the lamp posts, Jac breathed a loud sigh of relief before looking up into the night sky.

"I don't mind it personally, and I will hold hands with any friend who allows it. I also don't mind a lot of stuff that... people think is romantic. Like snuggles... and kisses."

Richard lowered his head, and started laughing between low energy breaths.

"Now I'm really confused."

"I get that a lot, don't worry. That's what it means to be a part of a spectrum. Some aromantic folks don't like those things but for me, personally, I don't mind! I don't see those actions, by themselves, as romantic. There's, more to it than that... that would make me uncomfortable."

"I want to learn." Richard said calmly. "Teach me... what is okay, and what isn't... so that I don't... make those mistakes again."

"I will. It's my fault for not explaining these things to you a long time ago. Though, to be fair, I was learning a lot of this myself, on my own..."

The two friends didn't say much to each other before they reached the railway station, but they both enjoyed each other's company with quaint smiles that never faded. They went off topic to talk about this and that while they waited, but in what felt like only a moment it was already time to step on board.

Jac flashed her card and went through the turnstile quickly, but before Richard could do the same a alarm was sounded along with red lights that flashed from the gate itself. Jac turned towards him and saw the distressed look on his face, his eyes dilated in the light as if he was a cornered animal. While there were only a few people who boarded the midnight express, there were a couple among them that stared down the young man.

"Wile giant..." One voice uttered.

Jac leered back to find whoever it was, but gave up quickly to return to her friend, the bars of the gate separating them by a couple of feet.

"Anti... Wile giant zone..." Richard grumbled.

"I'm sorry, Rich... I had no idea."

"It's... whatever. They probably think I'm going to grow into my full height while on board. While, excessive... it does happen suddenly sometimes, so... I can see why they'd be cautious about that."

"I see..."

Jac wasn't about to give up just yet. She pulled a brochure from the shelves and rushed back to the gates while flipping through the pages swiftly. And sure enough she found a map of the city and the places where the human and giant districts are segmented apart from each other. Using her finger as a guide, she gave Richard instructions for the next course of action.

"If you size up, you should be able to meet up with me before the monorail arrives right around... here! To the north east."

Jac grabbed her pen and made broad circles around the rendezvous spot. She then shoved the papers to his hands and squeezed them tightly.

"Think you can handle that?"

"Yeah," Richard sighed. "I'll be fine."

"You'll have to shrink again..."

"I know. But, I want to see this through."

"Okay."

Just then the monorail horn blasted, which instantly sent Jac running.

"I'll wait for you there!" She shouted.

She stepped in just before the doors shut, and within a few seconds the vehicle began to stir. Richard stayed put in his spot as he watched the monorail depart, waving goodbye to his friend inside even though it was unlikely that she could see him from his position.

Richard was saddened, yet a new sense of determination began to emerge from within. As soon as he stepped out, he hurried to the giant border and immediately sized up when his shoe touched the pavement. As always he had to kneel down to allow air back in his lungs, and during this time a passing security guard stepped in.

"You okay?" The man shouted.

Richard looked back at the Beansprout who was standing mere inches from his leg.

"I'm fine," he sputtered. "I wasn't going to do anything in there, I promise."

"I figured." The guard replied.

As the human walked away, he turned his head back and hollered.

"Go get her."

"Uh, thanks... She's, a good friend."

"Nevertheless! Good luck out there."

"...I appreciate that. Thank you."

Richard then got up, and began to brisk walk towards the path to the northern Sprout border. As the drama that drove me from Twitter came back up on my TikTok feed from a creator who blocked me over on Twitter for my views on this topic, eeehhhhhhaaaahhhheeeeggghhhrrrhhhhhgggg

tldr; Pointing out that someone contributes both money and legitimacy to a religious organization that does real (legal, physical, and mental) harm to people, minorities specifically, and that we should be aware of that and aware that that's what our money is going to if we support them financially, IS NOT 'trying to cancel someone based only on their religion'. Pointing out harm done systemically, even if the individual personally is an 'ally', is NOT trying to cancel them, nor is it a witch hunt designed to whip up an angry mob against the person. You can acknowledge the harm they're causing by their actions and still support them because you think the good they do outweighs that harm, but you DO NOT get to tell others to sit down and shut up and that they're actually the bad ones for pointing out the very real and tangible harm that's being caused.

So a certain very popular author is Mormon. He is very loudly and proudly a Mormon, is in good standing with the church - and that requires you to tithe 10% of your money to them and as he's very very well off at this point, that means a bunch of money going to the church. He also works at a Mormon university.

The issue comes in when people point out the bad things the Mormon church does as an organization, using the money that is being tithed to them to push for really harmful laws - laws against women, LGBTQ+ ppl, not even mentioning the vast history of racism and genocide against indigenous people, etc. And very concerning school policies at the university they work at like students are 'allowed' to be gay, but you can't act on it, all the while teachers are giving extra credit to students if they date each other. THAT is horrific to do to the straights even if you ignore the harm the 'don't ask don't tell' shit does to gay kids.

Even if the author has come out and said "I'm pro gay people, I want to be an ally to gay kids at the school", the author's ACTIONS still lead to the legitimization and funding of bigotry.

Now, to the issue part: when people say "Ok, yeah, HE might have changed his views on gay people, but that money he's donating/legitimacy he's giving still is being used to harm gay people and I'm not ok with that" and YOU respond with "Well I'm not going to CANCEL someone based only on their religion 😤" that's just...uuuuhhhhhh bro.

Actions speak louder than words. Cool, they're adding gay people into their books, they speak out for gay people, and maybe they donate personal money to funds that help the LGBTQ community - that doesn't NEGATE the tons of money and legitimacy they give to the harmful organization and pointing that out isn't "cancelling" them and it most certainly isn't "cancelling them only due to their religion". If your religion requires you to donate to bigoted causes, then um, quite frankly, we're allowed to call that out and say "That religion is bad and you shouldn't be it."

This hyper-focus on the individual and refusing to take into consideration the wide-ranging systemic effects of their actions - even actions they themselves say they don't like, and claiming that if someone is PERSONALLY an ally, then we get to ignore all the systemic issues the groups they are a part of do, is just...a very simplistic view of the world.

And I totally get 'working within the system to change it' - to a point. That's usually in the case of your society being overwhelmingly one way and so in order to make change, you literally HAVE to be a part of the corrupt organization. Think the two party system in the US: D's are just as war hungry and capitalist as R's are, but if you want a say in the running of the nation, you've gotta say you're a part of one party or the other in order to even have the smallest amount of influence in changing the process. BUT that's not the ONLY way to change the system, just one way.

Back to said author 'changing Mormonism from within' - some groups DON'T need to be 'changed' so they can be more palatable. (I am staunchly ACAB/abolish prisons and the police.) Mormonism has already done that with all the re-writing of their history and making allowances like not being SO racist and misogynistic. The whole deal with Christianity is that they keep breaking off to make their own church when they disagree with the main one they're a part of - that's kind of their whole thing. It's what Mormonism did to create their church, it's even what some Mormons are trying to do now - create a sect that's more 'liberal' and accepting of you know, diversity.

If the group you're with already has alternatives, there are other places for you to go, you're not financially reliant on them in order to survive, and the harm the group causes is acute and wide-reaching through the organization, then staying to 'change it from within' just seems like you're more interested in your own comfort than the safety and basic human rights of those your group is harming. And hey, that's usually one of the steps of growth and change - it doesn't all happen in a flash overnight, it can be a long process of slowly changing your actions and how you engage with the organizations that raised you.

Again, pointing out the real harm the organization the individual is choosing to remain a part of is causing is NOT "cancelling" the person nor is it "cancelling them just because of their religion".

WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID: you can acknowledge that someone is part of and contributing to a terrible organization and still support them. That doesn't make you a hypocrite or anything, but acknowledging that you're aware of the harm the organization causes, but for you, personally, supporting the author will do more good than harm, is a completely acceptable (in my eyes) thing to do. What is NOT acceptable is going to people who are saying "Oh, this organization this author works closely with is doing some awful things to LGBT people and he's giving a whole bunch of money to them, that's not great. People should be aware of that if they're supporting him." and deciding to blow up at them claiming they're trying to 'cancel a wonderful person and an ally' and 'how dare you talk about that when he's doing all this other good' etc.

A lot of people DON'T already know all the terrible things the Mormon church/faith does/supports/enforces. A lot of people don't know the terrible things A LOT of organizations do. That's why this whole living thing is a process of learning and informing others of what we've learned so as a people, we can do better and push for better. How do you advocate for better when you don't even know the harm that's being caused?

And finally: individuals cannot infringe upon the First Amendment freedom of religion clause. We can criticize the actions of a religion you're a part of and say "hey, the fact that you're helping contribute to harming people due to the tenets of your religion - that's bad". We're allowed to criticize specific acts religions do and say we don't want to support ppl who are part of contributing to those harmful acts. That's not a bigoted thing to do, so you don't get to be on your high-horse pretending that ignoring someone being a part of a religion doing harm is somehow the more noble stance to take.

Anyways, I was lambasted on Twitter by a certain community due to these views, so yeah. I've unfollowed most of the people in that group who I was following here because I didn't want it to follow me to Tumblr, but I guess I'm bringing it back up since the TikTok was just posted about this very topic. So if you've found this and had seen me in that community on Twitter, hi. Nothing personal, but when you're told by tons of people in a community to sit down and shut up about the harm being done to the LGBTQ community because "we've already discussed that in the past and decided it's not a big deal, so you need to accept our ruling on that and shut up" or just making up things and telling others you said them, and only like, 2 people in that whole community had your back, yeah, I wasn't going to take any chances here.

Ahh yeah I did mention that Soonyoung gets insecure because of how their friendship even began!! Besides, unrequited love is a BITCH !!! It really messes with your self esteem for a while. Soonyoung is certainly an overthinker because he has so much time to himself aha. It's the way he lives his life. He's not necessarily concerned with school or his career. It's just him, his closest friends, and the girl of his dreams. (Oh and of course quidditch because Soonyoung is the definition of himbo <3)

He needs a ton of reassurance from mc!!! But at the same time, he doesn't want to seem like the pathetic guy who constantly needs comfort (that sounds harsh, sorry). He wants to present himself as the confident guy that he is. So, Soonyoung would tend to keep quiet, or at least he won't verbalize his insecurities much. You can definitely see the hurt in his demeanor, especially the pout on his lips. His words always sound like he's second guessing himself, and he's hesitant with what he wants to say. But mc is the fiery type, so she has to coax him for a bit

I think their relationship would have been rocky in the beginning because mc isn't the most vocal about her feelings, and she doesn't reassure him that she loves him often. It's typically shown through her actions, but Soonyoung would still really appreciate the verbal validation. So it takes a bit of talking and a bit of practice before they can build it up to a healthier relationship

Of course that's all okay because couples do fight ! And each party will always have their insecurities ! It takes communication to make sure everyone is at the same level. Plus, since they've only ever been friends, they have to learn how to be lovers as well. It's not a quick or easy process. There are always bumps in the road when it comes to these two, but what's important is that they will continue to fight for their relationship at the end of the day

• Though, you don't mind him being this way, it's nice to tease him about it sometimes. He'd get all pouty and would ignore you for the rest of the day, only for you to get woken up by his nudges and poking while he tries to snuggle to you at bedtime.

• This man craves your affection so bad i don't even know what to begin with. The only chair you'll be sitting on is his lap and if you refuse to he'll pull his usual sulking.

• Telling you in detail how amazing you look while you two got ready in the morning is like a daily routine for him at this point.

The money thing (part 1/2) - Daniel Ricciardo

It's always the little things, isn't it? The smallest stupidest things make almost no difference and then make all the difference in the world. They make everything special, but they also have the power to tear everything appart.

You and Daniel fight about money for the thousand time and he's had enough of it.

Warnings: super angst, but with a happy ending :)

Guys, this turned out WAY BIGGER than I expected, so I'm just gonna do a part 2, okay? Okay, thanks for understanding!

You and Daniel had been dating for a couple months now, having met through a common friend and hitting off almost instantly. You lived in Amsterdam and he, well he lived all over the world really, but his "time off" (meaning not racing) was spent between Monaco and London (for work), and Amsterdam now too, of course.

The changes were small and subtle at the beginning, like your weekends being spent traveling to meet him wherever in the world he was and consequently spending almost all your savings on plane tickets. You never complained to him (you planned on spending the money traveling anyway, so you didn't see the point), but didn't accept when he offered to buy your tickets, either. There's been some awkwardness around the subject but it usually died on its own.

*beginning of flashback*

"You’d have gotten here in time if you'd gotten the early flight like I told you" you remembered him saying that time you got in the paddock after the qualifying session had begun and couldn’t kiss him good luck.

"Baby, I told you. It was crazy expensive! Absurd even!"

"(y/n) for god's sake! What are we saving money for? I told you, you have my credit card number, I've offered to get you one, this is ridiculous, I can't believe I literally earn millions and my girlfriend wasn't there with me because the ticket was too expensive! I'll fucking fly you private if I have to!" he was almost yelling in his driver's room. You could only stare from the corner.

He took a deep breath running his hands through his hair. "Sorry. It's just... it was crap out there. I needed you" you grimaced at his words.

"Sorry. I really am..." you tried to approach him. "I'm here now?" you touched his arm. "It can't have been that bad, you're still on the top 10 and we both know what you can do from the 8th car..." you smiled at him.

*end of flashback*

He started to spend much more of his time off with you at your place, so you decided to get a place by yourself (having a roommate was great for company and splitting the rent, but having a roommate there while you guys just wanted some much-needed privacy was not working). Then there were more traveling to meet him, furniture for the new place, clothing for all the events (GPs or not), uber rides here and there... all of that without mentioning that you weren't being able to get the freelance jobs you used to get to make some extra money, so yeah, to say things were tight was an understatement. You tried to do all your shopping alone, so he wouldn't offer and you wouldn't refuse or be awkward about it, but Daniel seem to be glued to you whenever you were in the same city (not that you’re complaining).

The thing is, you always had trouble dealing with money. Sure, you liked to pay for your own stuff so as to not owe anything to anyone (especially boys), but it was so much deeper than that. Ever since a kid, you hated asking for money from your parents, and sometimes even the thought of buying stuff that was a bit more expensive made you sick. You couldn't explain why, you just felt guilty having so much and knowing that most people have never even seen that amount. It's not that you didn't want to spend it and save for the sake of it, you just didn't handle the idea of money very well. Needless to say, dating a millionnaire was bound to cause trouble in the relationship for you.

You were currently at his place in Monaco. It was the summer break and you had decided to spend some days just chilling at home, just the two of you - which you were glad since going out means hair, makeup, clothes, accessories, shoes... and, let's be honest, the kind of places he usually took you is not the kind of places you just throw something together last minute (the Instagram models and other driver's girlfriends looking you up and down were enough to make you think about spending money you did not have to hire a stylist or something like that). The whole situation was really stressing you out and you knew you would have to be honest with him eventually, instead of only dodging the subject and refusing most of his offers to pay. You tried to. You kind of tried. You suggested staying at home, in bed, most of the time, and he gladly agreed, but that strategy wasn't gonna work forever. You had to be honest with him. But at the same time, you knew what he was going to say and do, and the thought of him spending money on you, even if just by handling the restaurant bill, wasn't something you were much more comfortable with. Besides, it was only a matter of time before the "gold-digger" term starts to fly around in the small world that was the F1's.

You were laying on his couch, the Olympics playing on the TV but you were too busy overthinking the money thing to pay attention. Daniel was laying with his head on your lap, absently caressing your thigh and watching the TV. His phone went off and he moved to pick it up.

"Hello?" you watched as he answered the phone. "Hey mate, how's it going? Uh nothing, we're just chilling at home. Getting some rest... Yeah, I'm getting rested, you dirty-minded son of a bitch" you rolled your eyes while he laughed out loud on the line with someone. "Yeah, I know... the 19th is it? No, it's fine. Yeah, yeah. I'll be there. Alright, mate. Thanks for calling. Have a good one! Bye!" he hanged up and leaned in to peck you on the lips.

"Good news?" you asked him.

"Not really. Just wanted to kiss you" he shrugged, smiling. You smiled back and hugged him, pulling him in for another kiss. He was always so caring with you, always finding an excuse to kiss or touch you. You knew some people didn't like it, but you loved it. Physical touch was definitely one of your love languages.

"What's happening on the 19th then?" you asked him once you guys set apart from the kiss.

"Gotta be in London. Gonna run some testings and other boring race stuff..."

"Hum..." you hummed in understanding.

"You know what would make it less boring though?" he asked and you just looked at him, you already knew what he was going to ask you and it wasn't that you didn't want to spend every minute of the day with him, but you simply couldn't afford any more traveling, especially not in such short notice. "If you came with me. Huh? What do you say? A week in the Queen's land? Then we can fly together to Spa and after the race, I can go with you to Amsterdam. The next one it's the Dutch GP anyway, I'll just get there sooner" he laughed. It was crushing you, the man of your dreams was literally beaming at making plans with you, talking about spending the next few weeks glued together and you couldn't say yes.

"Dan, I have to work" you smiled sadly.

"Can't you work from distance? Or, I don't know, I mean... And the thing is, you really didn't mind the flying. You always slept during the whole thing anyway, so you never got tired and the jetlag was minimal. You could work from distance, sure. Your boss wouldn't mind, as long as you got there eventually to check in on everything. But the whole logistics were just too expensive. There was no way you could afford it.

"I... sorry, I don't think I can" you said sadly and watched as his face dropped.

"That's fine, baby. I get it. I'm asking too much, all this traveling... don't worry about it" he tried to mask his emotions but you knew better. He knew you could in fact work from distance, so he was probably thinking the reason you couldn't do it was because you didn't want to.

He got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen. Meanwhile, you couldn't help but bury your face in your palms. This was so frustrating!

"You wanna go for a run or something? Maybe get something to eat?" he called from the kitchen, already moving on from the subject. You knew this whole thing was only gonna keep build up till he got tired of your excuses or you blowing up, probably the former, but you just keep going.

"Yeah, sure" you answered, getting up from the couch.

You and Daniel were both very active so going for a run, hiking, riding bikes, or whatever in the middle of the day was really routine for you. The Monaco summer weather was as beautiful as always and the sun was shining bright. You enjoyed the rest of your afternoon racing each other, kissing in the harbor, and just taking in the views, spending quality time together. Money wasn't even a thing in your bubble for a while.

"I'm getting hungry" he said on the way back home.

"Me too, and I'm super hot. I could go for a juice or something right now" you were all sweaty from the running, but you didn't care, he was too.

"You're always hot baby, I don't think juice gonna help with that" he grinned at you and you just rolled your eyes at him.

You passed by one of his favorite spots for food, nearby his place and he suggested getting some take-out, to which you agreed.

"Green juice, and a chicken wrap?" you tried to decide while the both of you waited in line.

"I'll never understand how you drink that"

"I've seen you drink that too, it's actually very refreshing"

"Because I'm forced to, I'm a high-performance athlete baby. But I'm on a break, so I'll have a coke, thank you very much" you laughed at him. He was holding your hand and tried to kiss you, wrapping his arm around you, you didn't dodge his kiss, you would never, but still laughed at the fact he wanted to kiss the sweaty mess you were right now.

"I'm gross, only you" you laughed.

"That's my baby, with no makeup she a ten" he rapped shrugging and grinning.

"Alright Lil Wayne, I know that one, don't even finish the verse" you laughed at him, making him laugh out loud, getting everyone's in the restaurant's attention.

"It's true, though"

"Sure..." You just shook your head smiling. Then you heard someone call his name.

"Hey! Daniel!" you both turned around to see Charles and Charlotte sitting in a corner, him waving at you two. You had met Charles a couple of times before but never spoke too much to him. They seemed to be leaving anyway, so they walked towards you guys, instead of towards the door.

"Hey mate, how's it going?" Daniel greeted him with a handshake. "Hey, Charlotte! You know (y/n) yet?"

"Hi! I don't think so, hi! How are you?" she greeted you smiling.

"Hi! Nice to meet you. Hi, Charles!" you said.

"Hey, (y/n). You're keeping him in line during the break? Char won't let me cheat my diet either" he laughed.

"Oh, that ship has sailed long ago! Daniel will just roll into the paddock if it's up to him" you laughed back.

"Hey! I think I've earned the right to some extra calories, we've been working out extra hard lately" Daniel said waving his eyebrows suggestively, making Charlotte giggle, Charles rolls his eyes and you go even redder than you were from the actual workout, while he just laughed out loud.

"I don't even want to know" Charles said. "Always great running into you mate" he was getting ready to say goodbye.

"Are we seeing you guys tomorrow?" Charlotte asked you.

"Tomorrow?" you asked her.

"Stefano's birthday" she said like it was obvious. Stefano Domenicali was the President and CEO of Formula 1, but you didn't know that yet - still, her tone made it seems like it was someone Daniel knew, so you just looked at him. He just rubbed his neck, looking a little embarrassed. "Oh, wait. Please tell me I didn't just said something I shouldn't" she looked at Charles.

"No, no. He invited me. Us, actually" Daniel reassured her. "I don't think we're going though, forgot to mention to you" he said looking at you.

"Uh mate, I wouldn't skip that if I were you. He didn't even invite all the drivers I heard" Charles said. "Maybe just stop by to say hello?"

"Stop by... a yacht... at the sea?" Charlotte said grinning at him. Daniel looked at you.

"You feel like going? It should be fun" he asked you.

"Sounds fancy... I mean, I don't mind if you go" you said.

"Common... I’m not going alone" he nudged you.

"I don't even have anything to wear, Dan" you told him.

"Oh! We can go shopping together!" Charlotte said and you had almost forgotten they were still there.

"Perfect!" Daniel answered for you. You could only imagine the types of stores she shopped.

"Tomorrow morning, then? Daniel can text your address to Charles for me? I'll pick you up!" she was being really nice about it.

"I thought you wanted to go today?" Charles said.

"That's when I thought I would have to go shopping with you, so I could use the extra time since you're the worst shopping partner ever!" she laughed at him.

"Burn!" Daniel laughed.

"His fashion taste is not the most reliable, let's face it" she laughed and kissed his cheek. "It's a date then (y/n)?" she looked expectantly at you. You didn't want to let her down, it was so hard to make friends with the girlfriends of other drivers, they were usually so... not nice. You could always just help her and find something to wear in your own stuff later.

"Yeah, sure! See you tomorrow, at 10?" you said simply.

"Perfect!" she beamed.

About you not being able to stand WY fans: yes, i agree, and it's been bothering me so much lately.

Like, some people are obsessed with making him some kind of "queer icon" because he *check notes*... wears chanel blazers and played lwj and*checks more notes*... is not openly homophobic...? (Not to say he is, but you now, no one does know the personal convictions of a celebrity)

Like, i remember when sdoc3 happened and he danced with Xiao Bao and everyone was like "well NO STRAIGHT MAN under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES would do it!!!". And there's all the "number theories" that are like "OMG he posted this selfie at 12:34, which is the exact date of *insert other male celebrity here, i refuse to do it myself*'s birthday! Baby boy is so whipped <3". And the "body language analysis" posts, "accessories meaning analysis" posts, the fucking "who's this finger?" posts (that is about people trying to prove that a finger that appears on a selfie is not his own), all which take themselves way to seriously, even the ones that have the "this is not serious guys 🤣" at the beginning.

And like, i think it's kinda fascinating, cause I study science of information and these posts are a perfect example of "misleading research" and bad research approaches in general, so i DO think it is fascinating but I'm also kinda furious on a personal level cause, and that's the reason I'm writing this rant letter and sending it to you as if you're some kind of priest:

People be out there having internet fights about a celebrity's sexuality, taking the smallest of the details and making it seem like some kind of "secret message", like "Oh he's clearly gay but he have to stay in the closet because of his job, so he wore this watch once that have this teeny-tiny rainbow detail to PROVE TO US that he's gay." You know, like if all queer people do is seek approval from cishets. And i would put it all in the "fetishization of queer identity" box, but there's also a lot of people who make these kinds of posts that self identify as queer, which makes me really sad.

And on top of that, which makes me feel even worse, is that queer celebrities who are open about their identities are CONSTANTLY under the scrutiny of literally everyone. They have their identities questioned and judged constantly by both people inside and outside of the lgbt+ community, they have their work judged on impossible standards because people expect them to make "the best representation of queer experience ever", they are put on dehumanizing moral standards and when they inevitably fail to be perfect in every way they are persecuted and bullied. Its inhumane the treatment they receive, even on the most liberal of places, and yet, a lot of openly queer celebrities try to use their platforms to help the community.

And then we have wy, who is like chilling in a corner just going on with his life, but at the same time he's like in this limbo where he is put under this scrutiny where fans try to analyze his every move to try to prove that his identity is X or Z, which i think is terrible cause it makes me feel like no one can really escape from this constant policy and judgment of their own identities, something that should be personal and intimate and only shared by personal choice.

And just as a side note, i do see a lot of people criticizing this kind of behavior, but most of what I see is like "oh these 16yo girls fetishizing asian men" and im not saying that's not what happens, but i think that it is more like a side effect of something bigger. What i mean is that, like, 16yo girls didn't come up with it out of thin air, if anything, i believe that it's a side effect of most societies using the personal lifes of celebrities as a way to profit, tabloid scandals for example (remember the brangelina thing?)... so yeah, 16yo fetishizing asian men is definitely a problem, but i think the roots of this problem is the way entire industries exist with the sole purpose of profiting of the exploitation, abuse and exposure of celebrities personal and intimate lifes.

listen like. i wont say that i've never thought about it myself but when i did it was just me and my lesbian friends joking around like 'oh what if this male celebrity we all like is gay' without making it into this big thing with conspiracy theories and blatant invasions of privacy and real person shipping, ya know?

going off what you say, i think it's definitely possible for lgbt people to fetishize other lgbt people, especially when it concerns white lgbt people and their favourite asian idols. on top of that, most of the people saying weird things about wyb like 'omg he's so limp wristed' and speculating wildly about his sexuality and relationships with his male colleagues are older than him. there is definitely a race element connected to this as well and i've definitely read posts by asian people discussing this issue, but i don't feel like i have the authority to comment in depth on that here.

also not the timestamp theory...... i want to erase that from my mind y*zhaners are SO stupid. no closeted chinese celebrity is gonna drop little cryptic hints for yall to follow like a bread trail. they would be closeted for a reason because even the slightest rumour could seriously harm their career. i feel like all of this also demonstrates an enormous lack of empathy towards actual lgbt people in china as a whole. they only care about lgbt issues in china when it concerns their fave (such as the recent ban on 'effeminate' actors).
