Summary: I was thinking about that one scene in Euphoria in the 1 ep in season 2 where Fez slashes the bottle into Nate’s head saying happy new years and was like this would make a nice fic (IM SORRY IF THIS IS PURE DOG SHIT)

Y/n L/n and Theodore Nott were both famously known in their house Gryffindor and Slytherin each had their reputation Y/n was nice and caring, Sweet a surprise she wasn't in Hufflepuff The thing that made her a Gryffindor was how bold she was and acting before thinking she had sent a lot of females to the hospital wing while Theodore was smart looks slick like a snake and in one word a Playboy doesn't matter what kind of girl she could be seeing someone he didn't give fuck.

Something they both have in common is that they have a feud Theodore has a new girl each week or even days before leaving them heartbroken and Y/n is there to heal it for them but Theo likes seeing how their hearts fall to his empty promises his empty words leaving like a ghost.

Theodore originally dated Y/ns closet friends and when he left her friend brokenhearted it sent her friend into a spiral of depression so bad that the poor girl transferred wizarding schools.

But currently, Y/n has found herself at a house party celebrating new years it had Hufflepuffs, Ravencloths, Slytherins, and Gryffindor.

Y/n had arrived earlier at the party with a few of her friends and she had on a black Minnie skirt paired with a black belt and black boots with a white off-the-shoulder top and access jewelry pretty makeup for the occasion and her (c/n) hair was in curls with the help of her friend.

Y/n took a sip of the beer she held with one hand she laid her head softly on the nearest wall her friends ditched her to go hang out with some Ravencloth boys.

The music was being blasted loudly not being to hear any small talk so she roamed the room seeing a few boys high passing a joint she was able to pinpoint one of the guys Mattheo riddle so that must mean his counter part is close by y/looked around once more spotting Theodore..

Her eyes studied him his dark brown curls his tall build and shoving his tongue down his next victim Y/n was taking her time trying to see who it was then to her horror she knew God she was going to murder him.

The girl was a fifth-year one year below them but that wasn't even the worst part she knew this girl she was a sweet Hufflepuff girl whom she tutored a bit and who she protected against a few Slytherin girls whom She had landed big hits just enough to send them a message and to the hospital wing in return the sweet girl made her baked good for a while month.

Y/n soon snapped back to reality once Theodore Watercolor's eyes met here it was honestly disgusting to seem to stare at her as he French kissed a fifth year her face scrunched up disgusted by his sick act as she finished her drink leaving to go to the kitchen for another bottle maybe something stronger to forget what she saw.

For a while now Y/n has been engaging in a conversation with Pansy she was the only member of Theodore's friend group she could stand and they were talking about Theodore be exact.

“It's truly disgusting I mean I've seen him bring back a lot of girls and it's been disgusting to see to make out with them in the common room but French kissing a fifth year?!”

Pansy says as she takes a big sip of her cup Y/n nods in response to her words “Does he have any fucking bloody lines!” she says scoffing as she drinks her beer.

Blind to her in the corner of the kitchen was the little sweet fifth-year “I'm going to go save the princess” Y/n remarks as Pansy grins letting out a giggle “Truly heroic!” she says clapping as Y/n makes her way into the kitchen looking down in the girl crying knees to her chest.

“Hey there my badger” y/n says as she slides down next to the girl handing her a tissue “You look beautiful tonight” The girl's eyes soften once they meet Y/ns “Hello Again..n” she lets out as she sniffs.

“What happened I saw you with him a couple of minutes ago and now I'm sitting on the kitchen tiles with you,” Y/n says trying to comfort the teary eye girl “As Theodore was kissing me he broke out of the kiss and said he spotted an old friend and I said to go say hi!” she says a small smile her cheeks stained with tears.

“After I while I was getting worried I didn't anyone here..e so I began to look for him,” she says as her voice cracks Y/n sighs “And you found him making out with this old friend right?”

Y/n places an arm I've the girl which makes her scoot closer to Y/ns embrace “You're not the first girl sadly that this has happened to” Y/n sighs as she can feel her blood boil she's going to give Theodore a night to remember for sure.

“I'll be right back just need to go to the bathroom okay?” Y/n says as she brings her beer with gets up as the fifth-year nods.

Y/n makes her way around the party and soon finds Theo he can feel the presence of Y/n behind him and slowly breaks away from his hot make-out session “Bambina leave me be for a few minutes” he says to his hookup.

“But the balls going to drop soon and I wanted you to be my first kiss off the-” she's immediately cut off “Ore” says in a stern matter with a cold state she soon backs up scoffing walking away.

“Sorry about that,” Theodore says as he wipes his mouth with a nearby napkin, and a smirk is printed on his good-looking face.

Y/n arms are crossed over my chest as she smiles stabbing her nails into her arm to try and control her anger “The balls gon a drop soon!” someone shouts his watercolor eye locked into her (e/c) eyes .

“So what did you need to talk about? You finally fell in love with me?” Theodore says cockyness in his tone “God no” Y/n says scoffing as a smile is on her face.

“Last time we were together you said you wanted to kill me,” He says smirking and arching his eyebrow staring at me waiting for a reaction “4, 3, 2,1” everyone shouts as they kiss, drink as Y/n lifts her beer “Yea well, New year playboy” she says as she smashes the glass into his he as knocking him out.

-has a sensation of touch on the metal parts of his body, but it’s visibly muted compared to his skin and it drives them nuts

-despises hot/cold temperatures due to how they interact with the metal parts of their body, on especially hot days

-very vulnerable to hacking and it scares the shit out of him (thanks past obsession with Genji for giving me this one, the amount of “Sombra hacks Genji and he has a bad time” stuff I have read is unhealthy, even if she would only do it for the shits and giggles or a mission, a character losing control of their body is unfortunately very compelling please don’t cancel me)

-can’t remember their past life or how he died but still has nightmares of it

-phantom pain is a bitch and her name is Boothill

-won’t be seen as human by most people (even actual people write him this way which is a little weird to me, like I know the Robot/Human tag w Boothill serving as a Robot is probably just for reach, but like, he’s still human, he’s not a robot, he’s a cyborg, idk it’s just a pet peeve of mine)

-has to go to the scientist who made him to get “upgrades” (aka whatever they feel like fucking with this week) against their will

-Boothill’s synesthesia beacon doesn’t just prevent Boothill from cursing, it prevents her from saying certain things entirely which makes it very hard for him to express his feelings

-charging induces sleep for them, something which Boothill tries to hide as it could be used against him

-debating between making Boothill unreasonable heavy (because metal) or unreasonably light (because high tech) both scenarios cause problems for him, feel free to torture yourself for as to why

-animals (especially dogs) don’t like them as Boothill doesn’t have as strong a scent nor the flesh of other humans which is why it’s hard for them to trust him, which sucks for Boothill because he loves animals

-doesn’t even know the planet they were originally from or how old he was when he died, Boothill doesn’t even know their birthday, so it ended up becoming the day he was brought back to life against his will

-gets called “it” by people who don’t like cyborgs or people that are non-organic/have nonorganic parts of their body/existence, I also share this for the trailblazer because of their dubious origins, I’d like to believe transphobia isn’t a thing in Star rail because it’s already tiring enough irl and there’s no proof for it unlike other real world problems, so the misgendering happens for other horrible reasons! Horrible reasons that are close to canon considering the whole organic/inorganic war thing depicted by the Sim Uni, I’d imagine a lot of people are still bitter about that (honestly I don’t know the details I was there for the jades) and/or ignorant enough to believe that only fleshy beings have a monopoly on personhood (it/its pronouns are cool but not on people who don’t want to use them!)

-constantly pushes the limits of their body (aka self destructive behavior), I doubt Boothill would be trying to hurt herself but it’s more of a “it will get fixed anyway” kinda thing, any injuries sustained still hurt like a bitch but Boothill forces himself to not care because well “it’s his job and he will get healed anyways” (also it’s implied from their LC that he’s a Galaxy ranger against his will from the whole “never living for themself again” thing, so Boothill probably has to get injured for the job and is just forced to grin and bear it

The shot of Izzy training on the gundeck is gorgeous and I'm not just saying that because of the Pecs of Death. And I love that he took himself down there and set all that up and took up his training his own self, idk, it feeds a lot of my headcanon about what sort of person Izzy is outside the context of Blackbeard - disciplined and fastidious

Love a good training montage, especially one that involves ass-slapping. And I love this new normal where Stede and Izzy, like, hang out and converse.

Anyone ever see Northern Exposure? There was a great scene in an early episode of that show where Joel was trying to figure out how Marilyn could sit still and quiet on her shifts as his receptionist and he was just boggled that she could, as Fang puts it, sit with herself. I'm not sure if this quote was from that episode, but I know it's a Marilyn quote: Words are heavy like rocks … they weigh you down. meta about the tcm game friend group????? yeah!

maria: it is my opinion that leland was really close w maria. i think she was probably the first of the group he met, along w julie and danny? it was his first year in college and he was probably doing way too much initially to try to fit in among the frat boys and w/e, but maria was someone genuine and i think that drew him to her. he loved maria a lot, they had a lot of personal values in common. and i think she impacted his overall view of the world, in that she saw beauty in everything and was just a very open and kind soul. being friends with her probably taught him how to slow down a little bit and appreciate the things that captured her love and interest in photography, like sunsets and flower fields and candids of their friends. and i think about how explosive his reaction was to finding her body at the slaughter house. like, for him it was sort of like... if someone like that could be taken away so cruelly and without reason then like what kind of god would allow that to happen? it drove such an emotional spike in him for a long time, he was just angry and sad and didn't know what to do with that. but, thinking about her very nature and how she saw things probably also helped him heal from the grief of losing her and what happened to them all at that house.

sonny: i think them being besties is so charming to me because it's just so jock nerd archetype it is a wonder that sonny puts up w leland's affectionate one braincell self. and yet... anyway i feel like they either roomed together first year or they met through maria but you already know that sonny is The reason leland isn't failing his courses and leland knows it. i think what leland loves about sonny is that he's so earnest in his interests and how observant he is, noticing things that the average person simply wouldn't. leland just thinks he's neat. and like, he's kind and reliable. even if sonny was scared or had his doubts about going out to find maria, he didn't say no. leland has brawn and courage but he always looks to sonny when there's a choice to be made because he just sincerely trusts his judgement. and though leland will tease him like zzzz nerd shit be so serious bro could listen to sonny talk at him about nerd shit forever because he loves him. anyway if anyone ever steps to sonny while leland's around it's so over for them. that's my emotional support nerd? if anything ever happened to sonny i'd kill everyone in this room etc?

connie: i think danny and julie maybe introduced these two at a party or smth but connie and him got off on the wrong foot for the first little while because he wasn't beating the dumb jock allegations. honestly she was so mean pretty girl from out of state that leland liked her immediately but it was simply not mutual. him, affectionate: ice princess. but anyway she shot him down and humbled him pretty immediately and he was like yeah fair enough! have a great day! anyway somehow he grew on her like some kind of moss and they became pretty inseparable once she figured out he's just dumb (affectionate, unthreatening). he knows she can handle herself but also he steps to any dudes that bother her too much or make dumbass comments. they r each others rocks they both do the 'hiding our emotions to be a source of stability for others' but she's definitely seen his most raw emotional side. he also often looks to her for like... a realistic and honest take on a given situation, because he knows she won't sugarcoat things that he needs to hear. idk he loves her a lot, like he'd listen to her talk about w/e just like very fondly. and appreciates that girl who does not show affection will be affectionate w him u know???

julie: so i think julie and him got along pretty quickly, and she was maybe one of the first of the friend group he met? they're sharing a jock braincell and their vibes are simply on similar wavelengths and honestly i feel like he looks up to her a lot? she's just so cool california girl like she might as well be a hollywood star already. he probably goes to her for advice, and also when he's being vaguely whiny and pathetic. but anyway i can see them being chaotic to deal with in any party game scenario, the dual jock energy is too powerful in any scenario tbh. and while i think julie thinks a little more than he does before jumping, they're kind of the first people to jump in feet first. esp if they were both close to maria. leland's like well if julie's going i'm going. leland really resonates with and appreciates her loyalty and bravery for the people around her, she's someone that probably holds the group together as one of their pillars? that's how he sees her anyway! her presence is an immediate morale boost for him, even and especially in the situation they find themselves in later. trusts her loves her would be there for her no matter what, knows she has his back!

danny: danny is probably someone leland was introduced to through julie and maria, and probably wasn't the type of person leland ever hung out with in like, highschool. obviously danny had a tough upbringing and was kind of other side of the tracks from him, but he also seemed like a very down to earth easy going person so i feel like leland would have at least on his end gotten along with danny quickly. he's just your local chill stoner van vibes type dude how can you not like him. i think they probably share a braincell sometimes like i think they're funny and encourage each other's nonsense. they are giving me vibes of bros who u find passed out cuddling or half sprawled on each other after the party just bro things. but like w/ julie leland appreciates danny's ride or die loyalty like i feel like he was probably also easy to convince to go find maria, since his summary mentions how close he was with her. supposedly also a tough kid so u know, leland and danny handshake emoji protect our friends boys???

ana: idk if any of the friends would have known ana but leland definitely heard about her from maria, and knew how much maria cared about her little sister. i think that immediately upon meeting her, he quickly likes her because of course, she reminds him of one of his closest friends. he's kind of like... in awe and humbled a bit by her determination to find her sister, taking it into her own hands to form a search party. so, whatever his reservations are about anything, there's no shot he could have told her no. i think as they go on the roadtrip, he feels for her being like, an outsider to their group, and kind of does his best to make her feel welcome with them. bring her spirits up a little bit etc. i think he also feels very responsible in particular for keeping her safe, for maria's sake, and then ofc a responsibility to ana to find maria, because he knows their family has been through a lot already. idk, she's brave and resilient and he respects her a lot!

🍋: What is your OC's most painful memory?

There are huge chunks of their backstory I still haven't touched but intend to get to at some point, but so far I think it would be whatever led to them being raised by a family friend. Maybe his family died of a preventable (if they had the money) illness and they were the only one spared? I'm not sure on that one yet, but I one thing set in stone that could be the answer to this question would be her memory with their childhood friend that they grew apart from. They were promised that they'd always be friends, but eventually said friend dumped him once he grew popular and eventually bullied them for being worse at singing than he was. Led to an inferiority complex which eventually they will heal from, with Aerwyn's help.

🍎: Do they share any features or traits with any family members?

Uhhh, her beautymark? Probably an affinity for stealth? Pessimistic outlook on life? Idk yet, haven't thought too much about what his family would be like... They had a sister, that's all I know.

🍾: Does your OC believe in luck? If so, do they have any charm or ritual they do before a stressful event?

He was a devout follower of Calistria before becoming Aerwyn's herald. Well, he still is, but obviously as Aerwyn's herald he's devoted more of his time now to them instead of Calistria.

In honor of both, he uh, spends some "alone time" with Aerwyn before a dangerous job. Calistria is a goddess of lust, after all. (Thanks for the idea, @ritunn! hehe)

Probably drinking and shooting the shit with Andrés, the guy who raised him after his family died. He's also the guild master of the Oilbird's Nest. That or loafing around in the forest with Aerwyn.

In their dreamscape! While it can take whatever shape she wants it to, her favorite that she keeps coming back to is a tiny island in the middle of an ocean with white sand beaches, and the sort of buildings you would find in Santorini. She even has her own house in it with a combination bedroom/sensory room. It's really empty as Aerwyn just wants it all to herself and would rather not have to imagine what people living there with her would be like. It's like that first episode of the Twilight Zone where there's signs of people being there, just no actual people. She's usually the only one who gets to see it, but Ignazio gets special privilege access as her Herald. Also because he's a lucid dreamer and he gets to do what he wants in her dreams. The first time he stumbles into it (completely on accident) she chases him with a broom as she's spooked by the situation.

First, I think Rhea should have never allowed Fodlans people to keep any of the sacred weapons or relics.

After everything she's seen and experienced, centuries of seeing humans fuck up and commit endless atrocities , how can she give these weapons to humanity KNOWING how prone to corruption they are ?! knowing the chances of them abusing that power is so high.

Like they already have crests (stolen from her kin) that extend their lifespan and give their bodies power. Is this not enough? They already abuse crests, do they need powerful weapons to abuse too?

Imo it's the same "mistake" Sothis herself did with the Agarthans, teach them stuff most likely because she liked them and trusted them, but they turned that tech against her. Rhea lends weapons to humans to protect themselves and do "correct things", and they turn (Tru Piss and Golden Shower special mention) against her, using the very same weapons.

It's her fatal flaw, but also the one that helped her survive after Zanado, Rhea is shown to always trust humans, and in the events of the Fodlan games, we see that trust being misplaced.

Seiros the Warrior trusted Willy (with her brother's shield) and in turn he saved and supported her. House Fraldarius was entrusted with her sister's shoulder plate, and now their motto is to be their land's "shield". Mercedes uses the power Lamine stole to heal the wounded and support people. Ultimately, both VW, AG and AM see Rhea's trust being rewarded as the people with relics, humans she trusted, ultimately save her life.

for anyone wondering my setup is:

A Team: Throne // Merchant [she is my carry, rest can save her + get her SP for more ults. she has like 500 speed maybe more. queen shit] Ochette // Armsmaster [the breaking queen, and tank of the team. somehow though she has the least base HP of everyone? I do not know how this happened. she will be getting the stat increase items I think] Temenos // Conjurer [not super useful class imho but B team doesn't have the JP for it anyway, and I'm not grinding more of that if I can avoid it] Osvald // Arcanist [the light and dark spells are really good with Alephan on, + if he's not very useful at a point in the fight he can ult Throne while she has speed up and save me an ungodly amount of turns]

B Team: Castti // Inventor [someone's gotta have this class I guess? Castti and Partitio are tied for "most 'idk what the fuck to do here' turns and I think she's prettier in the outfit] Partitio // Scholar [he was gonna be my MDPS of the team. he will be relegated to dancer by my next attempt. by the end of the fight he had one purpose: give Throne BP] Agnea // Cleric [turned out to be a blessing in disguise, I just had a feeling I'd need a cleric bc of how useful Temenos turned out to be. since you literally can't use apothecary heal during the "cannot revive people" phase unless no one is dead, IMPORTANT.] Hikari // Hunter [initially this was for leghold trap. however now it's staying b/c he has become Break Boy (his job is to break the enemy so Throne's ult does more dmg)]

sorry Partitio. you are support. and sorry Castti you are extremely useful normally, just in this fight with double cleric you don't need to heal nearly as often. tbh sweeping cleave did some heavy lifting so it's not like her "what do I do" here turns were negatively, it's just genuinely difficult to decided what to do- use latent talent, poison axe, sweeping cleave, maybe even heal herself higher

I think maybe swapping Partitio to dancer ult and then using it on probably Temenos could work? during final phase with all 8 out. Because Temenos can use both Prayer to the Flame and Prayer for Plenty on everyone that way. Temmy and Throne carry is really the moral of the story here

you may also notice that B team, despite going second, has no AOE for the 2nd phase. this is because I am an Idiot and I just brute forced it with Hikari's latent talent, Brand ult, Castti's sweeping cleave and poison axe.

In theory, I could swap them out so the teams are something more like a/b/a/b and b/a/b/a but I got through the first 2 phases fine so I don't think that'll help me much.

so genshin related question, but do you have any tips on how to read and learn the characters compatibility and skills just by looking at their desc. I feel utterly lost whenever I try to make sense of games where I got to learn a characters skills and utilize that properly when matching them up or giving them artifacts etc…

idk what desc means (description?) but yeah really all you need to read is their second and third talents to get the gist of the character. sometimes some stuff is hidden in cons you may have, but often nothing game-changing. most times a characters talents will tell you basic stuff that you should look for first: what they scale off of and what their kit is primed for (healing, dmg, support, etc). if it's not clearly stated, they probably scale off atk

Usually, a DPS "build" is their stat-of-choice sands, elemental goblet, and crit circlet. An example of this: Hu Tao is a DPS who scales off HP. This will often be found in the second talent/skill slot. So Hu Tao has her ATK increased based off her HP (stat of choice). It also states her atks when you activate her skill deals pyro dmg and a charged atk applies "blood blossom" which is a fancy way to describe off-field dmg she can inflict on enemies. The thing is with genshin, DPS chars are often the easiest to understand their kits right off the bat. Even though it has flowery language, most DPS kits are quite straight forward in that their E or Q hits big dmg and that's all you really gotta build towards. Some DPS talents will explain "stacking" that some chars have, such as Heizou or Raiden, which is sometimes harder to parse out in all the word fluff, so if you feel you're not quite understanding what the talents mean, watch a guide video and *see* it in action. That often helps me if something is just confusing, which especially for supports it is...

Now the actual bread and butter confusion I think comes from Hoyo making shit way more flowerly than it needs to be, especially for support characters. I think reading Furina's talents for the first time gave me an aneurysm I won't lie

Within this absolute mess of an explanation, you should always find where stuff is highlighted in color, that will often help you find the "important" sentences in the sea of words. Furina deals hydro dmg based off her HP. When she's on your team and you use her skill, your team members lose HP in order to deal more DMG.

Fanfare stacks are just another fancy stacking mechanic that you as the player have to meet the "reqs" for in order to get bigger dmg, that's all stacks mean at the end of the day. You don't need to really try to understand every single thing here, but that you found her stat-of-choice, how to trigger her stacks (fanfare stacks when chars heal or lose HP), and what it does (increase the DMG dealt by party members). This all points to Furina being an HP scaling support or sub-DPS, as she isn't necessarily DPSing anything herself. All her dmg comes from her elemental skill, which does a lot of dmg, but a majority of her kit also comes from her dmg-boosting burst.

Overall, that's really how I "quick read" talents to understand their skill and burst quick. Otherwise, a great way to understand them is just to play them in the trial, take your time reading and seeing how the character work. Most times characters have either their E or their Q be their main source of dmg, so you can scan talents to figure out which that might be as you check them out. Ei is a burst DPS and her major damage stacks will come from her burst, whereas someone like Heizou gets all his stacks in his skill and his burst is a just some minor crowd control, for example. So not every character is minor skill damage and massive burst damage, and sometimes that can be helpful depending on the playstyles you prefer.

In terms of team comp, oof. I would say that knowledge comes from two places: check out meta theory crafters who in-depth can explain a char's best teams for X, Y, Z reasons or test them out in your own teams if you have the character waiting. Second, elemental reactions is a huge part of this game. If you dislike playing certain reactions, this will limit the roster of characters you need to worry about since a lot of characters in genshin aren't really universal supports, but geared to support a specific char/reaction. You may have heard of teams like National/Rational, which utilizes a core team of Bennett, Xingqiu, and Xiangling. These three are considered like universal good supports in the game no matter the reactions you're playing, for the most part, and they're always safe bets to pair with your DPS or on-fielder. Some characters like Gorou for Itto, Sara for Raiden, or Yun Jin for Yoimiya are niche and made for those 5 stars, so throwing them into random comps won't often benefit you much. Otherwise, a team really can work as long as you understand the elemental reactions you're trying to get from the team. For example, my favorite reactions are vape (pyro and hydro), overload (pyro and electro), and i guess taser (hydro and electro). So when I saw Gaming, I decided I wanted to try him in a vape comp, and grabbed units that would create those reactions I wanted to try (Mona, Xingqiu, flex slot). That's often a good way to start testing out team builds: slot characters into elemental reaction comps and go from there. By playing with them, you can feel if the rotation flows well or not or if you just dislike a playstyle. Many characters are flexible enough that as long as you're aiming for certain reactions as your starting point, you should be good testing. But if you're still not sure, again, check out theory and build guides! I watch so many even now because meta can always change and sometimes I want to change my builds or teams and get stuck too.

Artifacts really depends on the teams you wanna run a character in and there are many builds that can slot as more universal, most characters have best in slot artifact sets and for the last two ish years genshin really curates an artifact set to a newly released character, making it more obvious "what" you should farm. ofc, there's lots of good artifact sets that can work on characters you wouldn't expect depending on how people are using that character. I recently put some golden troupe pieces on my fischl to make her more geared for dendro teams, and it's been fun, but i wouldn't have necessarily thought to do that unless i checked out some updated fish builds online and learned she was a good support in dendro comps. but really, if you stick to *their* artifact set you're likely gonna be just fine.

But also Genshin is quite forgiving in many ways and you should always try to play teams that feel fun and comfortable to you. One of my favorite teams since Furina's release is Raiden, Furina, Jean, and Kazu. It's not super meta, it's not anything insane, but it works well because I understand Jean supports Furina's kit, Kazu is my crowd control, Furina does her sub-dps stuff, and Ei funnels energy into everyone else to make sure Furina can reach her max stacks, and since everyone has so much ER, it benefits Raiden whose own stacks come from making sure the rest of the party bursts often. I've played with many of those characters long enough to figure this team out for myself based on information I learned from the community (Jean being a great support for Furina) and my own learning from having played with Raiden and Kazu for longer. So again, a lot of the time teams can be slapped together and work just fine as long as you're goals are being met, whatever they are, from that team.

And it's always more fun to play teams with characters you enjoy playing even if it's not "meta". Also idk how long you've been playing genshin, but eventually a lot of this becomes very intuitive so don't stress too hard. there's a learning curve, and then suddenly you'll be reading talents and understanding new kits with ease and forming teams better bc you've had just had the characters longer and have used them longer. easy peasy.

I don’t like Rhys because of how he treats Feyre. I don’t like that he SA Under the Mountain, I don’t like how he hid the pregnancy from her only to tell everyone else (including her abusive sister), how he implied that Feyre holds Elain back when all Feyre has ever done was feed, clothe, protect, and shelter that girl.

But I couldn’t care less about how Rhys treats Nesta. People bring up how he’s awful to Nesta, but all he ever did to Nesta was match her energy. I see people angry that he threatened to kill her after she weaponized Feyre’s potential death/miscarriage but those same people call Nesta a queen when she’d threatened to slit Feyre’s throat just for talking to Elain. Oh, Rhys is so mean to Nesta - good, I wanted him to be meaner. All this girl has ever done was abuse and belittle those around her, and Rhys was the first one to actually stand up to her. If she wants to be rude to those around her, expect those around her to be rude right back. He’s not Elain, who sat back and allowed some insecure little girl to verbally abuse Feyre, and he’s not Cassian, who’s too blinded by Nesta’s looks that he will forgive everything she says and does.

Nesta stans hate him because he’s not Nesta’s yes man. He won’t take her insults laying down like everyone else does. He won’t pat Nesta on her back and coddle her after she says something outta pocket just because she is hurting and has trauma. Trauma may explain why someone acts mean, but it doesn’t excuse it. Just because you are suffering with PTSD and grieving doesn’t mean that what you say has no repercussions. If you’re rude, someone is likely going to be rude to you right back. It’s not Rhys’s job to hold Nesta’s hand or help her heal. He has absolutely no obligation to Nesta. But he does have an obligation to his wife and his family to protect them against those that will hurt them intentionally and unnecessarily - which Nesta has done repeatedly and consistently.

On the list of problematic things Rhys has done, him treating Nesta like shit is all the way at the bottom. Honestly it shouldn’t even be included. Idk why him treating someone who ABUSED HIS WIFE like shit is such a controversial topic in this fandom. Any person would react the same way Rhys did. When you love and care about someone chances are you aren’t going to like anyone who causes them pain. That’s just the way people are with their loved ones?

Just look at how they treat him vs the people who like Nesta/ are neutral towards her. Eris is arguably one of the most morally questionable people in the series and he’s basically a mini Rhys. He has done most of the shit they hate Rhys (+ the inner circle) for however they make excuses for his actions instead of condemning him for them. They do this because he’s someone who “likes and appreciates” Nesta. If Rhys played the big brother/best friend role towards Nesta like they wanted him to and held her hand like she was a little kid I guarantee they wouldn’t have hated him as much.

I swear sometimes I think they wanted Rhys to argue with Feyre or “call her out” for the way she treated Nesta. They quite literally want this 25 year old woman to be babied. Which is kind of odd because they spend so much time tearing Feyre down for how young she is and how everyone “coddled” her because of it yet they’re over here popping veins when the same isn’t done to Nesta? One second she’s a baddass who can stand up for herself and doesn’t need anyone. The next she’s a 25 year old child who shouldn’t be held accountable for any of her actions because “she didn’t ask for this life”.

So, i have an addict friend, she’s always been so frustrated when she’s sober, she doesn’t want to recover nor to heal, i love her so much, but because we live in different country it’s hard for me to watch over her, it’s hard for me to control her with the drugs (almost impossible), she’s been using it for 9 years and never get proper treatment for it, i want her to heal, i want her to have this spirit to recover but she said it’s hard for her for it, she can’t without the drugs, she doesn’t want to get treatment for her addiction but she always tells me everytime she wants to take the drugs as if she asked for my consent even though we both know that it will only end up with her take it no matter how hard I prevent her to not take it, and I actually know it already in the first place. But idk i just i feel so cruel if I let her use the drugs just like that, that’s why i always tried even though i know all my words will just be in “vain”. This kind of state confusing me ngl, like i feel I don’t know nothing about how to face/handle her, how to help her, I’m willing to try and i really want to but i just don’t know how. Like i want her to heal but she doesn’t want to heal, but in other hand, she always told me everytime she wants to take the drugs as if she wanted me stop her, it’s frustrating me, idk what I’m supposed to do, like should I encourage her more to get any help (which could make her hates me cz that’d make it look like I don’t respect her decision to not get any) or should i just let her be and just be there for her (but I don’t how to behave and what to say everytime she asks for my consent to take the drugs). Hi... well. I'm sorry you have to go through something like this, I always say there is only one thing worse than being an addict, and that's loving an addict.

I cannot tell you how to help your friend. I don't know her, but I know all addicts in active addiction lie to themselves to justify their using, and because of that, they lie to others as well. You cannot handle an addict. You can't control her using, and you can't make her want to recover. You can't force her to ask for help. By telling you she wants to use, she's most likely not trying to stop herself, she wishes for your approval to feel better about herself, because she probably feels like shit. You said it yourself - she doesn't want to heal.

It may seem cruel, but you should accept that you can't help her with her using, not until she's ready.

You should ask her what is she expecting from you in this matter, have a conversation. You can try to be a positive infuence, listen to her, show her that there is more to life than what she's currently able to see. Send her to a NA/AA meeting. And since addiction is usually based on traumatic experiences, i would recommend therapy.

You can be there to support her if she decides to do something about her using, but that's it. Her using and her life is her responsibility, not yours. Failing to see this may destroy you as well.

been wanting to watch the thelma film since i saw the trailer for it innnn 2017? so i finally checked it out the other day

i ultimately think i need to rewatch it and re-examine a lot through the religious/religious upbringing lenses.

i don't remember the trailer a ton but i do think i remember more bizarre or bigger displays of power in it? so it was a tad disappointing that they seemed to use ALL the cool surreal stuff there while the rest of the film was more subtle

BUT.................... those subtleties were actually really intriguing and why i need to rewatch

like cool the focus is on gay shit, but i didn't really feel any chemistry between thelma and anja. BUT. maybe that's the point, because it's implied that anja only wants thelma because thelma is influencing her. so no, they don't need to really have anything in common or anything to attract anja to her. you could assume there's some stuff. but maybe there isn't supposed to be any.

i'm torn about the dad. on one hand i do think he was trying to help in the only ways he felt he could? because no matter how much thelma would train to get her powers under control, any subtle subconscious Want is bound to be a danger, esp given what's already happened. but on the other hand idk it would've been interesting to see if there was a different way.

AND ALSO i saw some theories that the dad also has some of those powers and he's actually the one who caused the brother's death and the mom's attempt, and his influence is what's keeping thelma's grandma so heavily drugged etc. i'm actually really intrigued by that and i can see part of it coming into play.

if so i then wonder how much his and thelma's different desires can conflict, because i was thinking about her breaking down and telling him she had a cigarette or alcohol etc and how he relented and said it's okay to do once in a while. knowing what he knows about her, that wasn't very wise? or maybe it was fine, because he was trying to keep her content. but i feel that was the start of the subtleties of thelma getting her way. so... would she be getting her way like that if he had his own powers too?

there's another angle as well about... what's real/what isn't. the thing with the brother's death is the mom did something incredibly dangerous anyway by leaving a baby unattended in the bath. i honestly can see an angle where he had died naturally and someone's powers reconstructed the whole story.

also dreams! lots of bad things happen while thelma's dreaming. so i guess there really isn't a great way to control her powers with that in mind.

i'm not totally sure why her dad had to burn, like i know it was a callback to the candle thing (him showing her what hell feels like as a kid) but i really... don't think he was all that awful all things considered, going off surface level anyway? but i know that she was always going to be repressed and restrained while he lives. so i guess she made a choice between him and anja? but then why'd she heal her mother? i'm not... totally sure about how she feels about either parent in the end or why.

ambiguous ending! is anja with her because thelma wants her to be or because anja wants to be? i think it's thelma's powers, given the glimpse of wanting anja to kiss her neck and suddenly it happens, same with how anja's fashion has changed to be more like thelma's. thelma's making her into her own toy.

i feel like a lot works better on a metaphorical level than an actual superpowers level, like i still don't... Get how thelma learned to control these things better in the end. i guess it was more the choice, and therefore she gained more control by accepting herself more fully and being able to more clearly understand herself and how it all works, rather than repression causing issues.

basically a good movie but could've been shorter maybe, and probably better on rewatch

y'all ever have dreams that are so real and so detailed that it's as if you're living in an entirely different universe for one night? I'm talking the kind of dream where your brain makes up a false past, false relationships, and a false life that all feel real.

I had this vivid as fuck dream a few nights ago that 20 years ago, toonami/cartoon network did a special series of bumpers about a character named Poppy that we all got super attached to. Poppy was fighting some sort of sci fi war and managed to--with the help of we the audience, a few cartoon network characters, and shadow the hedgehog for some reason--build a machine that would stop the war for good, thus saving everyone.

she went into the machine herself to activate it, but because we and the other characters weren't trained in Sci Fi War Bullshit like Poppy had been, the machine was built incorrectly. Poppy would have to stay behind inside the machine to make sure it worked, thus sacrificing herself for all of us.

however, Poppy had a special ability--she could turn into a flower and go into a stasis. the details get fuzzy here. it was either to heal or pass the time, i think. point is, she retreated into her flower form after activating the Save Everyone Machine, gave a heroic speech about her friends and stuff, and asked the audience to wake her up in 20 years. i think the expectation was either that it was a dramatic end, or there'd be an event 20 years later where the kids who remembered Poppy could go on a website and do an interactive thing that gave the whole thing an epilogue. maybe it was that there'd be a special anniversary thing. idk dreams are vague

and in the dream, this was like one of those big shared childhood mini-traumas for an entire generation, ala Steve going off to college in Blue's Clues. like, kids cried and wept and lost their shits over Poppy. she was our girl! she sacrificed herself! the series of bumpers with this big storyline all culminated in the bittersweet ending of our bestest buddy sacrificing herself to save us!

it was such a big deal that a bunch of people, including me, signed our names on a big contract at school/a school reunion, promising to remember to come back and wake Poppy up. the date changed from the 14th of february 2024 to the 24th of february 2024 bc, y'know, dream shenanigans. it got so much attention that people were like, going to recreate an old cartoon network/toonami website so we could take part in the event and wake her up.

anyway, even though none of this happened because it was just a dream and Poppy was never actually real, happy We All Go Wake Up Poppy Day

Ok so most of this centers around part 8 (shock i know).

First the thing about signs in the beginning and end still has me flailing. Like holy shit, what a way to tie not only that part together but the rest of the story to! So yeah, still not over that.

So idk how to say it best but just imagine the 'thats growth' meme for Regina, especially in parts 6 , 7, and 8. Regina seems like she's really beating herself up over how she's handled things, which sure havent been the best, but i dont think she's giving herself enough credit. But that may be projecting my wants/desire for someone to love and prioritize and care about me in ways that require a degree of trust i dont have... but we're not going to talk about that! :b

Which is interesting because Emma has some heavy thoughts in part 8: “I feel like I tricked you, Regina,” Emma snapped, stomping her foot and looking up at her with a truly painful expression on her face. “I feel like I manipulated you into getting me out of my family. We met because of me and everything was great and sexy and just what I fucking wanted it to be and I did EVERYTHING I could to make you fall in love with me and now I just keep dumping all of my shit on you and now you feel like you have to do this or-” AND FUCK IF THAT DOESNT MAKE YOU WANT TO WRAP THEM IN BUBBLE WRAP AND PROTECT THEM AGAINST THE WORLD

... if you cant tell im excited to see where they go from this, because unpacking that /trauma/ will be a trip

Oh and the potential Mal/Mulan - look. I may or may not be internally screaming for various reasons. Im super curious to see how Emma and Mulan would interact in a little headspace, both in a playdate/camp in Regina's backyard and at the club.

*flailing* Thank you anon! I'm so glad you appreciate the signs thing. I know it is silly but I'm a really big believer in signs myself and have a little list of superstitions I usually adhere by out of habit and what-ifs lol. And I get it Anon, about the degree of trust thing. That is an incredibly difficult thing to place in anyone. Emma's words there about how she feels like she has tricked Regina kind of mirror my own personal issues with dating in a complicated way so I'm glad that you were able to have that same experience of relating/projecting with Regina lol. Admittedly one of the reasons I've been writing this next part so slowly is because it is going to set up what unpacking trauma and healing will look like for them and I want to do it right. It's very much a, Emma still has a LOT of problems that have to be worked through now and they have to be patient about it. And the Emma/Mulan interaction is going to be hella cute but what I'm very excited to write and have others read is the interactions between Mulan and Regina at the beginning of that section of the fic where they are not friends who play video games and smoke weed together, but a nervous little and a Caretaker who is "responsible" for that little. At least until Mal is like MINE.

Anyways, sorry for the word vomit but talking about my fic helps me write more of it so thank you for the long thought out message to reply to 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
