Do you guys really believe that killing is the singular bad thing that cops do?
Or even that killing is the most frequent bad thing that cops do?
Are you saying that if cops didn't kill, then they'd be the same as Batman? Because then you're suggesting that effectively Batman already is a cop, with the exception that he hasn't killed (just like the majority of U.S. cops, who have never once shot or killed anybody).
I'm a bit worried to see opinions suggesting that only killing is wrong—and that violence, stalking, and humiliation are okay. In real-life, police commit countless acts of those "little" abuses, terrorizing entire communities, before they murder anybody.
Invading people's privacy is wrong. Hurting people to the point of hospitalization is wrong. Forcibly drugging people is wrong. Putting people in cages is wrong. Torture and "enhanced interrogation" are wrong. Ambushing people in their homes and safe places is wrong. Keeping inexhaustible wealth is wrong.
Superhero comics are power fantasies. Not all fantasies need to reflect our ideology in reality. But once you apply your real-life values to fiction, once you decide that fiction showcases exemplary real-life ideology—then your praise for Batman's ideology does become a worrying reflection of your real-life understanding of social issues.

Against my better judgement, can I ask about the 24k word TMA conspiracy board?
I like how you already know that you might regret this halfway through, self-awareness is important!
Against anon's better judgement, I hereby present the Original TMA Brainrot Document! *drumroll*
I've only had comment permissions on this document since today, actually, so all my added nonsense is FRESH!
General layout is this: the doc goes episode by episode until mid s4 (as you, beloved people, can see below), and then we follow it up with conspiracy rants, entity characterisations & rituals. Not only confirmed rituals, but also Ali's speculations, which are delightful.
Let's start out gently, shall we? First info we get on the document is about the Magnus Institute and its employees:
Yes, I know this is Hannah-from-the-library erasure, but she's on maternity leave. Good on her. If you, like me, have no idea who Sonia is, please comment because I feel very silly that I cannot remember her for the life of me. Thanks o7
Anyway!
Every episode entry will look like an approximation of this, with more or less red string ranting and "ohhhhh I know that name!!" depending on the episode.
What follows now is a highlight trip through things written by @alice-apparently and carefully chosen by yours truly.
Firstly, to highlight once again our different listening styles: Ali edited this document after pretty much every episode she listened to and I blazed through a quarter of s1 in one afternoon. Self-restraint? Never heard of her.
Cross-referencing like the good academic she is:
Ali's paranoia is rarely wrong, even when she doubts herself. Granted, she might run right past ginormous plot points, but none of the details shall escape her grasp!
Fun fact: in s4, we turned Ali's "I'm so worried about Martin" into a whatsapp sticker, THAT'S how often she texted me those exact words
Bone Apple Teeth. also something something DC Universe, help me out here folks bc I know zilch about DC save for Henry Cavill's Superman films (for shame, I know I know)
Jurgen Leitner??? Stupid idiot motherfucking Jurgen Leitner-
No but fun fact, Gerry Keay (and Mike Crew/Ex Altiora) is the reason Ali even started this doc, so we are very very attached to Gerry in this house and only mildly upset at Leitner's demise. Ceci n'est pas un pipemurder.

I've hit the max image limit, so wait for the self reblog for more rambling if you so please <3

women will literally accuse women and esp lesbian circles of "not unpacking ""man-hating""" alleged ""misandry" sweetie xo" getting offended ppl aren't appropriately uplifting how "men are amazing and awesome and attractive and i won't be shamed for thinking so" as if appreciating men is a real counter opinion than blame whatever gave women of every sexuality instance to be jaded weary cautious and tired and who'll complain every now and then and continue on with her life until she dies putting up with patriarchy. just welcome to the "woke" internet where misogyny's over and "man-hate" "shamed for not hating men" is worth springing to defences for
yeah i've only seen people talk like men's rights activists and think they're being unbelievably progressive on tumblr it's kind of fascinating. like i can see how seeing people hate on men could mess with people and stuff but you can't demand men appreciation posts that's literally the whole world outside of idk your tumblr dash (or even on your tumblr dash because fandom misogyny from people who think they're not misogynistic at all is really something). men get praised for "babysitting" their own kids like be serious? it's very let men be masculine
i don't think being like men are soooo gross and we hate them is actually constructive and it can definitely veer into transphobia (you'll always be a man/"a male" and thus a danger to women/why would you ever want to become a man they're the enemy and the bane of society etc) and homophobia relatively quickly?
but the way people ON TUMBLR ""combat that"" is often so off to me like if the most basic feminist principles offend you then i'm not really sure where to go from here. i remember seeing a post that was like "men aren't your enemy. they're your friend/brother/father/colleague/neighbor" with a lot of notes and like i don't know how to tell you this but that's literally who's most likely to harm a woman, the men she knows?😭 and obviously not every system of oppression is exactly the same but would you say the same thing to someone criticizing white people like...just very weird
i think women who are attracted to men and dating them making jokes about how they only tolerate being attracted to men because they have no choice and especially the whole i'm bi so i love every woman and only find 1 in a 1000 men attractive (very often said while in a relationship with a man) thing is obnoxious and annoying for like everyone who has to hear it lmao but also when women who date men make jokes about it (not about them being ugly or unattractive or whatever but about them being bad partners in general) it's like. what else are they going to do like you said they're gonna endure patriarchy for the rest of their lives and as girlfriends/wives/mothers they go through the most it's very bleak? idk. it's not like you can date a better man yourself out of patriarchy
of course men aren't a all as bad as the worst guy you can imagine and they're not all out to get you or whatever but saying things like "men don't all benefit from the patriarchy rich men benefit from the patriarchy but jake, 23, is not oppressing you" is like. kind of insane. jake, 14, was oppressing me like have you never interacted with boys in school😭 and it's not like it was entirely their fault we all have to outgrow misogyny it's just you know society etc but some of them never outgrow it lmao and just...the takes you see on feminism on tumblr are astounding i hate it here

Seeing the same people who perpetuated or sent vicious misogynistic hate to Hannah Schmitz, as well as disgusting racist abuse towards Yuki and Alex because of FUCKING CONSPIRACY THEORIES and those who just straight up ignored it, now up in arms regarding whatever the fuck is going on between the FIA and the wolffs is beginning to piss me off. Because now that it's not someone red bull affiliated involved, it's somehow now unacceptable.

in which dutch & hosea nurse sick arthur back to health in their little farmstead. Dutch bought two chickens and they are his silver lining, while Arthur makes fun of them for being only two little chicken, which is a pathetic number for a farmstead.

got tagged in a wip ask game by @optiwashere, cheers mate
Rules: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it. Tag as many people as WIPs, or as many as you want.
ok slight problem pals, i only have 1 wip going
fuck you *transes your tav*
because in several past fandoms, i've started numerous wips and never finished them, and with the feedback i'm getting + having support + interacting with the community properly, i'm determined to finish fics as i start them - unless shakespeare strikes me again, like unspoken, or getting hit with the metaphorical freight train of inspiration like alone together while i was trying to write (cult)ure shock
to make up for the fact that i only have 1 true wip going, here's some of my head gremlins:
karlach/rivan meeting rivan's mum and numerous aunties
maybe the first date in the ice rink au, or maybe something else. that ice rink au lives rent free in my brain 24/7
karlach/rivan turboangst
i'm a bit of a history nerd (get a load of this twat) so i'm lowkey frothing at the mouth about a wild west au with karlach/rivan and shadowheart/kohara, and all the fun research i'd get to do
so feel free to ask about the head gremlins instead if y'all wish :)

As Lilith starts shifting into a more demonic form, both that sweet spot of being in mid-transformation like we see Charlie get, and the actual full-fledged form, her hair starts turning red. It's a rich and vibrant auburn color.
In mythology, depictions and descriptions of Lilith tend to say that she is red-headed. I am absolutely incorporating that into this one's design.

hi hi Trade, I am here because I simply Must know more about Elan immediately please and thank you (also do you have any tunes for him? just by the look of him n his vibe I feel like he'd have some bangers) mwah ok bye
:D HELLO
I'm tagging @khufiya-khaufnak-antariksh here as well cause you both asked about Elan and I figured I'd just babble a lil about them to both of you here, hello, thank you for your interest!!!
Okay okay okay Elan issssss yeah! A fucking mess, basically! They, they, they. Hmm. HMMM!
They're basically the result of a fun kidnapping and testing that was executed on a wide number of colour mages. Elan semi-volunteered for it, with zero intention of actually taking part, and then took part anyway. Sucks to be them.
I don't know an awful lot about the actual process, but the general aim of it was to see how much colour could be taken from a mage before they. Yknow. Fucking died. Which for most people was alarmingly far! Strip magic away and see how deep this colourlessness can go.
Alas, most of the people fucking died before anything truly interesting could happen. But but but! Elan did! Not! For various reasons I'm keeping disclosed, they were full of spite and rage and Vengence and decided actually, you know, I'm not gonna die, I'm gonna take this white you're pumping me full of and just. Harness that, thank you very much. Reject the magic you were born with and embrace this synthetic model instead.
Basically, edge 14-year-old brain went 'teehee evil science experiment character :)))?' and I went oh HELL yeah!
Elan is the kinda guy who likes gardening :)! Lil gardener fella! They've got a section of BigBad's base wardened off for Just Them, where they have a little living area and a big garden, where they spend most of their time, chilling out, feeling At Peace, crushing any sliver of green that starts to edge into any stalks or leaves. It is a petrified garden. It could not survive without them. They love it dearly. Sometimes, when they get overwhelmed or frustrated, they smash it and sob in its remains until it's replaced and they start the cycle over again.
They also stand as one of the first characters of mine where I looked at them and decided they wanted to be in a lil relationship, which is nice and good for them! Less good for them that it's, uh, with the. BigBad. The woman who funded and dictated the research that made them Like This.
The relationship is very much a. Toxic one. Power struggles between the two, knowing full well they've hurt each other badly and still coming back for more. By the end of the first book, they quite literally stab her in the back and ease her into her death, all romantic style.
Mmmm despite how things have been phrased, I think Elan does quite like being a White. They want more people to be White so they can understand how things are, how they should be. Very obsessed with perfection and cleanliness and purity. Bleached as many pigments out of themselves as they possibly could, and still finds the red of their blood to be grating.
I have exactly one (2) songs that vibes for them at the moment which I think you know both of, Monday? Tis 'The Quittin' Kind' by Eleisha Eagle and 'Pretty Little Head' by Eliza Rickman. Both vibe with the more toxic part of their relationship with the BigBad. Who has no name. Pretend she does.
Okay that's it! Bye! Thank you!

I'm sorry Lauren, but you're wrong. If Lucy was a canon character i don't think the fandom would hate her. She's not instantly lovable and has a conflicting relationship with most of the cast, but all of that makes her multi-layered. In my reading of the story (which is not much i admit 🫣), i felt that her central theme is trauma and that alone turns her compelling. It also mirrors Tommy really well. They have chemistry and understand each other.
This is the main issue that i (and most of the fandom) have with Grace's character: she fails to deliver that sense of understanding the relationship with Tommy was suppose to emulate and Lucy does the opposite of that.
If after my ranting you still don't buy it, jokes in you 🤣
Aw, thank you, Isa! I'm so happy that Lucy comes across as being multi-layered, since I really worked hard to try to ensure that she's depicted that way and showcase a lot of her significant flaws as a person. She's my traumatized baby and I really wanted to make sure that there were plenty of parallels between her and Tommy to help deepen their emotional connection.
That being said, I do know that the polyamorous aspects of her character have been kind of a not insignificant turn off for a good share of people, which is understandable since I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. But IF Lucy was a canon character, I could see her still getting blasted during certain ship wars, especially from fans of Lizzie since her relationship with Lizzie is...tumultuous to say the least particularly after season 5 lol.
