• When Deuce went through his delinquency it stung. You were always used to your older brother being there for dinner, ready to help you) so when he just... stopped showing up it hurt. • There was lots of arguments on the daily between him, and your mother. Since your only in elementary, you didn't... really understand it. So it stung a lot. • Once he got accepted to the school! Everything returned back to normal! He started coming back for dinner and he spent time with you again. It sucks that it would be so short-lived since the family lived in the Queendom of Roses while the school was on Sage Island • Your even one of the reasons why he's dedicated to becoming a better person! So you can have a good influence on you as you grow up! • My man can't help you with any of your homework, sorry. He's not good at teaching people, he's trying though! (polite way of saying he forgot how to do some of the things...)

✎ JACK HOWL

• He's the older brother of a sibling group of 4! Your the youngest and you are very loved! • Jack no matter where or who your with is ready to defend you. Both from violence and your honor. Nobody talks about any of his younger siblings like that! • Jack is probably the type to have a family photo in his bedroom, with you and the other siblings in it. Very adorable (his roommates tease him about it. But he claims "the pack always sticks together even if apart") • Jack loves taking you and his other siblings sledding. He likes to pull it in his wolf form! Very fun.

• Epel taught you how to carve apples! He loves sharing his art as well so you often get some of his creations he doesn't want to keep for himself! • He LOVES it when he gets apple juice from home with your name on it! If you make him little cards as well then he'll tease you about it when he gets home again! • Loves it when you call him strong! He wants you to grow up seeing big strong older brother Epel! (He also hopes you watch him play Magishift) • Epel wants you to consider him reliable. So he'll do these things like making you food, heavy lifting, he even helped teach you how to fly a broom! Just to prove to you how strong he is! (You may sometimes tease him about how hard he tries).

• He will not shut up about how you should grow up supporting Malleus lol • Sebek probably tries to expose you more to Lord Malleus, Lilia and Silver then to your father. Take that information as you please. • He spoils you, even if he denies to doing it. He'll buy you gifts and take you out to play a lot! (Like the other siblings did with him!) He specifically takes you to run around in the forest or go to the lake with him. • I can see Sebek reading you bedtimes stories when you were little! He likes reading so its just a cute little thing I can see him doing.

No spoilers! Tags are; A whole heckin lot of fluff and cuteness!

Lae'zel -

You have to be careful with what you say around Lae'zel. Made a minor comment 3 months ago that you wanted to revisit somewhere in the Sword Coast? Get packing, you guys are all booked to go. Asked Lae'zel to get you candy on the way home? She has 3 full bags. Say that comment her folks made last time you visited made you uncomfortable- you have a paragraph text apology from all of them the next day. She's not just someone who wants to spoil Tav, she fucking will. (If Tav manages to talk her out of going nuts with the pampering, she's surprisingly sentimental. You bet she keeps a rock in her pocket that reminds her of Tav)

Shadowheart -

She is so excited to post you. She doesn't like social media and tends to keep to herself, but after watching Tav post pictures of them both, she wanted to do the same. The minute she gets even the smallest romantic gesture, she's scrapbooking, she has a wall of Polaroids joined by a horde of hand made sketches, she's putting together little snack baskets and mailing them to Tav, she's about as obviously head over heels as a person can be, really. She's always got a camera aimed at Tav, even if they're just for her. (A good 90% are just for her eyes)

Wyll -

This man never plays games/gets online with both sides of the headphones in. It doesn't matter if the game is online, offline, urgent, time sensitive, dependent on his concentration- if Tav so much as makes a peep, he's out of his seat and across the room. Hells, he takes every chance he gets to go give Tav some attention. In the drift of leaving the waking world, Tav will definitely hear a little "One minute, Tav needs me" despite them not asking. Some footsteps. And then moments later, the warmth of the duvet being tucked all over their body and a gentle kiss to the cheek. Whispered "I love you"s and then a quiet. "I'm going to hop off for a few hours." So you can have some quiet.

Karlach -

She's one of those people that really makes you realise you have good taste in other people. Like, you can't think of a time you went on a walk and she didn't pick up some trash, help an elderly person across the street, immediately offer her seat to a pregnant woman. No matter how prideful Tav might be or not, there's a pride in the admiring looks other people give her. Little girls pass in the street and say "mum, I want to be like her when I grow up!" Everything she does makes Tav proud to be with her, yet somehow Tav is always the one under a spotlight to her. "Oh, me and my partner-" this. "Oh, my partner-" that. "I'm so proud of my Tav. Ugh, I am so lucky" she insists at every turn.

Gale -

He's a night owl, much to Tara's dismay. Wether that's because he can't sleep, he likes being awake in the dark hours or- his brain won't stop nattering at him for a gods damned minute, but either way. He's probably working, quietly cleaning, organising Tavs things so they don't have to worry. In quiet moments, between possibly making them breakfast because of course he's up that early- he's just kissing Tav on the forehead, gently, trying not to wake them. He needs them to sleep but there is not a moment in his day where he doesn't think: "Does Tav know I love them? Can I remind them once more? Even if its just for my peace of mind?" Because he will not rest if he has an inkling his live for Tav isn't at the forefront of their mind.

Astarion -

If you even suggest to this man that you should do matching outfits, he's excited. He always wants to take the wheel, but also wants Tav to have a foot in the idea. He will give ideas left and right, opinions up and down. He doesn't care if it's a date or not, cringe solstice photos, or just gym clothes, he's all for it. If you guys didn't have matching pyjamas already, you have them now, congrats. (If he's still a bloodsucker, he'll definitely still go out of his way to learn how to cook for Tav. Tokyo Ghoul rules though, so Tav gets to taste test a lot. Only the best for his little capri-sun) Overall he's just unashamed and excited to be with someone who very obviously wants to be his, visibly as possible.

Halsin -

This man lives for shared activity. He's quite alright on his own and can allow Tav their space, but going to get massages, haircuts/styles, wine tasting is his total vibe. Just relaxed gatherings together. Nobody lives a spa day like this man. It allows a level of intimacy that nature intends. Cleansing. Careful. Close. He will learn how to do Tavs hair and makeup if asked. Will take pleasure in being able to undress them and put them to bed at the end of a long day. Go on hikes and camping trips, walks through the woods, carving names into rocks and bringing back souvenirs to press into a book that's only getting thicker.

REVIEW: Married Thrice to Salted Fish

WARNING: It's full of SPOILERS, so CAUTION!

Well, about this one...

IT'S TOO CUTE, MY GOD! I REALLY CAN'T STAND IT!

Seriously! Despite how labored, painful and even harrowing the plot may be, MTSF is definitely a novel with a very, very cute and sweet plot!

This story is truly about love, development and how a relationship should be. The way Jiang Xing and Lin Qingyu fell in love little by little, and then got into a relationship, was definitely a sight for sore eyes, a pure delight for anyone reading! The author managed to write in such a sincere and natural way. You can clearly see the love growing between them with each reincarnation of Jiang Xing and you're able to fall in love with each interaction, as well as being fascinated by the changes in the way they treat each other with each one. I still can't get over the way they flirt! It's so sweet, funny and definitely daring that you can't help but smile with every paragraph of narration. I really love the way this author has developed them. I think I rarely come across novels where the relationship is written in a way that gives you that sense of reality, where you can feel that the couple are truly and intensely in love. And what's worse? It's not even toxic or intensely bad! It's just right!

I also love, ABSOLUTELY LOVE, Jiang Xing and his salted fish dream! I can totally relate! Too bad I'm a mere mortal and can't really reach the brain of our favorite slacker. I really wish I could, though... but even though I can't, I like having the privilege of reveling in the fact that he's still going to have to "work hard" for his Baobei for a long, long time! Anyway. Jiang Xing is also a beautifully developed character, with a captivating personality and way of thinking that easily draws anyone in. I completely understand Qingyu and why he is so enamored of this "mere student", even more so with how proficient this student is at appeasing and pampering our great beauty.

Apart from our Jiang, I obviously love Lin Qingyu, our cold and poisonous beauty, who could easily end your life with a single comment. Petty? Who cares! It's his great charm! After all, just like Jiang Xing, I can't help but get excited and anxious to see such a beautiful person poison his offenders to death and stomp on them. Honestly? If I were them, I'd even be grateful. After all, it's not every day that someone so beautiful and so prestigious is willing to pay attention to you, even if it's just to throw you in a grave. But anyway. Our beauty is not only cold, it's also unbearably cute and sweet. Of course, that's just for student Jiang and, later, a little bit for their adopted son, Shen Huaishi – another one I totally wanted to hold and spoil in every possible way! –.

Another point here is the narrative. It flows very well, and the writing doesn't leave you alone until you've consumed every chapter! I'm being honest! I finished one hundred and forty-seven of them in two or three days! I couldn't stop unless I finished it in one go and, if it hadn't been for the fact that I had obligations and had started reading in the middle of the week, I would definitely have finished it in one day after spending the night obsessively and psychotically involved with the story of these two. So believe me when I say that this is a poisonous novel that won't let you go until you have no more content left!

Well, I don't want to say too much because, even though I've already given away a HUGE spoiler just by mentioning "Jiang Xing", I still really want to preserve some things and experience before you read on. So I'm not going to say anything other than that this novel should be a must-read and high on your priority list. Especially if you're looking for a couple with real development, a compelling dynamic and a great story to tell.

In short...

READ IT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! I'M BEGGING YOU!!!

Chenford REWIND- Lucy Chen / Tim Bradford - The Rookie - Season 4 Ep 12

The Knock AKA "Who's Dating Who, Again?"

This one's been requested a few times, and it seemed like the PERFECT one to help me come down from the labor that was S2E10/11/12. Plus, it has one of the first scenes of Chenford I ever encountered on Twitter that left me thinking, "Okay, they're right. I need to know about this 'Chenford' thing."

SPOILER ALERT: Standard operating procedure for these Metas (if you're new) is to warn you that there will be spoilers. I try to write these as though I'm watching for the first time without forethought (so that newbies can read through without fear), but I'm gonna spoil ALLLL of this delicious episode.

All that out of the way? Everyone clear on the rules? Awesome, because I'm ready to dive in.

"I hate beach calls. Getting this close to the water without being able to dive in is torture."

Hey! I "dive in" to each Meta. So that kinda made me warm and fuzzy inside.

"Not for me." "There's no surprise, there. Hating one of nature's greatest gifts is totally on-brand for you." "I don't hate the beach. I'm just not a fan of the ocean."

I. Am. Horrified! All this time I've been mis-remembering that Tim hated sand, but it's the ocean he hates. I feel like a terrible fan! Tim, can you ever forgive me for getting it wrong?

Oh, wait, he's fictional. I'm good. But I hope y'all can forgive me. Gee wiz, Rachel, get it together!

"You know, psychologically speaking, fear of the water equates to a fear of not being in complete control of your environment. Again, on-brand. Uh, you know, also, good luck dating a lifeguard."

Lucy is teasing him, and I love it. Look, we are in an era where Tim and Lucy have some feelings stirring that they are not ready to deal with. So, throwing jabs and jokes at one another feels safe, but outsiders are looking at this thinking, "Geez, these two need to stop talking and start kissing."

"Did you hear her say the hottest?"

Tim, dear, you don't need your wife to validate your hotness when your placeholder girlfriend calls it out. Like, I know you care about Lucy and what she thinks of you, but you shouldn't care if she notices you're hot when you're dating another chick who is literally five feet away from you.

Just sayin'. If you're looking for Lucy to call you "hot" maybe you should, y'know, be dating Lucy. Just sayin'.

*giggle* "What's that look?" "Nothing. What?" "You wanted to strangle that guy last week. Now you're all sweet on him?" "'Sweet on him'? What, did, did we suddenly just get dropped in the 1950's? What?"

It should be said that all it took was a look. Tim knew from one look that Lucy had an attraction to this guy. It took one look. And Tim's none-too-happy about it. But he can't say that and he wouldn't acknowledge it.

Especially with the biggest mistake of his life hovering behind him. Tim turns to face her, but as he does, he steps over alongside Lucy. Because, at the end of the day, Lucy is who he wants by his side.

Is he fully aware of it, yet? No. Tim's a champion at repressing thoughts and emotions. But, subconsciously, he shifts closer to Lucy, even as he turns to face Ashley.

"Hey, do you have plans tonight?"

Watch how Lucy presses her lips together and turns away, finding some way to occupy herself so she doesn't have to listen to this.

"I'll have to think about it." "What's there to think about?"

She can't understand why Tim isn't jumping at the chance to spend the night in the sand eating experimental food, and that just goes to show that she doesn't know the man at all.

His wife has to step in to help.

"Uh, the control freak in him doesn't like to try new things. So..."

Tim is so annoyed, he turns to face his wife. Like, he turns away from his girlfriend to face Lucy.

"I'm not a control freak."

Tim, have you forgotten who you are? You orchestrate Tim Tests that kept Lucy under your thumb as a Rookie. You like to do the same thing every weekend, if you can help it. Maintaining control of your environment is completely your brand (or "on-brand" as Lucy would say).

Lucy cocks her head to the side in a silent, "Really?"

"I would be happy to go to your dinner thing."

Wrong move, Bradford. Spiting your wife by going to something supremely uncomfortable with the Baywatch Bitch is not going to go well for you.

"It's Ash."

Yeah, that relationship's gonna be "ash" soon enough. Trust me, this isn't sustainable. You can't spend every day with the girl of your dreams and every night with a person who doesn't even know you and pressures you into doing what she wants.

"I was thinking of asking Byron and his girlfriend-"

Tim isn't into that. He doesn't like Byron. We can see in one glance that he doesn't want to be even more uncomfortable at this thing.

His eyes turn to the woman right beside him—Lucy. Because, let's be real, we're at a point where Tim would love to share a dinner outside of work with Lucy.

Watch the wheels turn as he realizes he could have a buffer against this horrible night.

"You know what, Lucy's been pining after that place all day. Maybe we ask her."

Ashley doesn't know that Lucy's right in front of him. But Lucy's thrilled. And this is the epitome of their "Grumpy/Sunshine" relationship because while Lucy's beaming in front of him and holding her hands in prayer position, Tim's glaring at her and trying to get her to calm down with a wave of his hand.

"Cool. Does she have a date to bring?" "Hey Sanford. You got plans tonight?" "What are you doing?"

Picking an awful boyfriend for you because he's too afraid to pick himself. Look, Chris and Lucy started out butting heads, and we can argue that so did Tim and Lucy. Starting points for relationships can happen in any combination of scenarios. But the trajectory is what matters.

Baywatch Bimbo doesn't know Tim at all, and I don't have high hopes for this dude.

Also, can I just say that whenever Tim and Lucy say, "What are you doing" to one another, the other is usually up to no good or trying to do the best thing. Trust me. You'll see.

"Lucy needs a date to a fancy dinner." "It'll be fun."

With Chris gone, Lucy gives him a look. Reminds me a little of the first time Tim met Caleb and how embarrassed she was by him. Like, "what the hell, man?!"

"What? Don't be such a control freak."

Look. At. Tim's. SMILE. Because he's purposefully needling at her. It's part of their rhythm and language. And at this point in the show, it's safe. He's not ready to acknowledge that there might be something else there besides friendship.

And Lucy glares (as she should) at her husband.

"I told a food friend I was coming here and they flipped."

I once made the mistake of bringing food to the beach on a windy day. My twin sons' first birthday weekend we went to Cape Charles armed with two smash cakes and good attitudes. It ended with sandy buttercream and a stranger helping bathe our kids in the ocean water.

Some people may love eating at the beach, but I'm not a fan.

"I'm sorry, but who puts a restaurant on the beach? I mean, you're just asking for sand in your food. I don't get it."

Tim! Mi amigo!! But this is a case where Lucy is "used to you" and the others aren't, necessarily. Tim's going to call it like he sees it, sometimes, and he doesn't care what people think of him.

But, he needs to care a little because his girlfriend is right there and she is super excited about... sandy food.

"Was any of that English?" "Let me translate. All you need to know is that pancake is made of mushroom, which I know is not your favorite, so I'll just-" "Oh, no, yeah, take it."

Did you two, just, like, totally forget who your dates are here? Tim. Lucy. That is married behavior. Forget dating. Y'all've skipped it and gone straight to marriage.

Lucy scooped the pancake off his plate.

Ashley's eyes follow the fucking pancake because she's never seen Lucy and Tim in the wild, before, and holy shit she just took the food off his plate, and he didn't care. In fact, he invited her to do it.

Ashley has never been so mad at a pancake in her life. Be mad, Budget Barbie. You're the one who made him come here.

"... once on vacation I did have curry goat." "Was his name Gerald?" "God, shut up! *laughing* Don't." "It's a great story." "It's nothing." "No, it's something."

You know that couple that tells tag-team stories at the table? That's Tim and Lucy right now. My husband and I do it, and when we had my cousin and his wife over for dinner a few months back, we learned they do it, too.

And Tim's "It's a great story" isn't subtitled (probably because of how quickly it's said), but I love that detail. He wants to tell the story with Lucy. It's their story that they're sharing together.

And the clueless idiots still don't realize they're already married.

"Okay, we had a 2-11 at a petting zoo." "All the animals got lose."

Tim's the rambling husband who is so excited to share, he's forgotten everyone at the table doesn't speak the same language. And Lucy's the one translating. Because Lucy speaks Tim. It's not just the cop-code, but just the Tim-code.

She knows the meaning behind the words, and like a good and patient wife, she's not making him feel bad for speaking in a manner that's clear for him. She's simply providing context to the others on the outside.

Because, no matter how physically close Chris and Ashley get to Tim and Lucy, there is only one Tim for Lucy and one Lucy for Tim.

"So, we nab our suspect. We get him back to the Shop and that's where we find-" "Gerald the Goat. He is so cute." "And he's sitting in Lucy's seat." "Because I forgot that I had rolled down the-the window. You know, who knew goats could jump?"

I love her looking back to him on this. Like, "right, honey?" And have we ever heard them speak like this? No, no we haven't. Because in this moment Tim and Lucy have both completely forgotten themselves and are just having fun together.

They don't realize they've stepped outside of the paradigm of the evening—acting the couple instead of dating the people across from them.

Also, mad respect to Melissa O'Neil for actually rolling the window with her hand. Kids today have no clue, but it looks like she remembers! It was a tiny detail that made me smile.

"She tries to talk him out of the Shop, but it's a goat, right? So she spends 5 minutes making goat noises at this thing." "Yes, he called me 'goat whisperer' for all of last February."

Awww. Her first pet name from him. Come on, if Isabel could dub him "Eagle Eye" and it turn into a pet name, I can definitely see this being their first, even if they didn't realize it.

Also, can we please appreciate that some hapless suspect witnessed this whole ordeal?

Like, there was someone in lockup saying, "man, my cops must've been high because one of them was making goat noises the whole time".

And. Look. At. Tim's. Smile. He beaming. All of him is alight, engaged in this conversation with the love of his life. He just doesn't know it, yet.

"It was great." "Darn thing wouldn't move! So, you know, we finally had to call Animal Control." "Right?"

Look. At. Them. The framing of this is so perfect. We're on the inside with Tim and Lucy, who are looking at one another with pure joy. And on the outside, looking in, are Chris and Ashley.

Tim and Lucy are smiling and I bet Ashley's never seen him smile this big with her. That's because it's not for you, Beach Girl. Step off, now, before you break our boy's heart.

And we end on Ashley's face. Because we don't know Chris well enough to hate him (trust me, Rachel from the Future knows we will), but Ashley's realizing there's a kink in her "Enslave Tim Bradford" plan.

She's met a guy with a nice house, a steady job, a strong moral compass, and a heapful of loyalty. It's like a diamond in the rough if you're talking LA dating. And she likes the idea of this life—but not necessarily with Tim.

He's a project for her. She wants to mold him into the right man because the rest of the package is so appealing. But, honey, that'll never work.

Tim is growing and changing, sure, but that's the result of years of learning to bend. And I'm so horrified you think you can break him to get what you want.

"Well, people don't like the idea of experimenting on the dead for emotional reasons, but it's an important tool in the medical field." "Yeah, I'm not arguing that. All I'm saying is turning people into cyborgs is how the world is going to end."

Look. At. Their. BODY LANGUAGE. Tim and Lucy are turned towards one another, their eyes locked on each other. It's as though Chris and Ashley don't even exist.

"So, then I guess you haven't volunteered to be an organ donor when you die."

This is like the child at the table trying to enter the adult conversation. Famously, when I was 4-years-old, I was frustrated to be left out of the adult conversation. I set my elbows on the table very determinedly and said, "So, what do you think about peas?"

Ashley's giving off those same vibes.

"Tim? No."

Because his wife knows him best. Like, Lucy doesn't even give Tim the room to answer. It's not that she's cutting him off, but a husband and wife know one another so well, sometimes, it just flows.

"He wants to be cremated and spread over Dodger Field." "I was joking when I said that. My ashes would screw up the pH level of the grass." "I can't believe you actually called and asked." "I like the Dodgers."

Third wheel energy, my man. Third wheel.

Look, this whole date has been a massive disaster... for Chris and Ashley. For Chenford, it was actually a fun time. And for us viewers, it was kinda validating. We don't get to see every second Tim and Lucy are together, so knowing that they can speak so easily and volley off of one another so naturally in a different setting? Pure magic.

"Anything in these videos that can lead us to where he's hiding?" "Not that I've seen." "Well, let's keep looking."

The staging's been really interesting, because Tim is standing over Lucy, in a position of authority. But here, he chooses to sit alongside her at the table. He's joining her in the effort. Much as Tim protests their partnership, it's there.

And the inclusive language, too. It's beautiful. Tim is acting like they are a unit, here, and I really love it.

When Angela comes into the room, Tim has turned his body to face Lucy and the laptop. And it's eerily reminiscent of the night before over dinner with their separate dates.

In the morgue hallway, Lucy is the first one to spot the blood on the floor, and Tim's gaze follows hers. I love that touch. Yes, Tim is Senior Officer, but Lucy's damn good at what she does. And Tim knows it.

This next sequence is really beautiful to watch, just the way that Tim and Lucy move in sync. They don't need to check in with one another, too much. They don't have to worry if the other is doing the right thing. They're united in this effort. They both know this dance very well, and they're great dance partners.

"It's him. He's got hostages."

Tim gently pushes Lucy where he needs her, and it reminds me of the gentle pressure of a lead when you're dancing ballroom. One of my instructors said I was a great follow, and I swear it's the only time in my life where I excelled as a follower.

He's not shoving her. He's leading her. And she trusts his guide to go where he needs her for their next move.

Also, can we please applaud Tim Bradford for that genius move with the body cam? Way to use what you have to get the job done!

"So, what's our game plan?"

Look, we're far past Tim being her TO and her being his Rookie. But, I don't think we're past these two teaching one another lessons. That's going to be a life-long thing, methinks.

And, look, that plan looks like a "Tim" plan to me (he does like to come at things from a different angle), but I'm cool if it was Lucy, too. They both think creatively, and I think that's part of their appeal to one another.

"Have to be honest, I wasn't really feeling last night... hanging with Ashley and Tim." "I am so sorry. Tim and I spend so much time together on the job, we have a shorthand."

Lucy Chen. He didn't tell you why he wasn't vibing. He just said he wasn't vibing. But you already knew you were having way too much fun with your husband last night.

And now that Tim's conveniently opened the "Chris" door for you, you're going to keep walking through. Because Tim's not an option, right? Might as well have some fun, right?

"... and then you spent the whole night talking to Lucy. It didn't feel good."

Goooooodddd. Let that hate grow inside you so you leave our boy alone. What? I can dream, right? This is only going to end in tears for one of them, and I'd rather it be Asinine Ashley than our boy Tim.

"Life can't just be about watching the Rams game on the couch, or talking about the job with your partner." "She is not my partner, okay? I am her Sergeant. And, that's not the point."

He is so caught up in trying to keep himself separated from Lucy that he's explaining away his feelings and setting up road blocks in front of his girlfriend. Because as long as there are obstacles, Tim can keep himself from thinking of Lucy as... Lucy.

This beautiful, bright ball of sunshine that fell into his world, warming his chilled skin with her radiance, piercing the darkness of his thoughts with her rays of light.

It was a close call at that dinner, and he already knew he needed to apologize when he next saw Ashley.

But the walls that separate Tim and Lucy are thinning—so he has to cling to his mental roadblocks to keep himself from falling through and running to her.

This is the era of Tim and Lucy running from one another. Not directly, of course, but as a way of avoiding their feelings. Because at that dinner they were downright married. And it was fun. And it was nice. But he's dating the Blonde Bimbo and she's going to Pinks with Cockblock Chris.

Someday I have hope these two'll get it together. In the meantime... we enjoy the ride.

I still live a beautiful life. I love my treadmill, my stationary bike, and way too many Jillian Michaels DVDs I've horded over the years. I can bike ride and roller skate and trampoline. But I'm always in pain. I can't remember the last day of my adult life that I wasn't in pain.

This back thing hasn't happened since before my twins were born (they're 8, for reference) and is a result of life circumstances that will pass.

Today was my first day all week of not being on a heating pad half the day, and I only took pain pills once, which is good. Progress. Moving forward. Getting better.

Life isn't simple or easy for any of us. We're all up against something, whether it's physical, emotional, spiritual, or psychological. Or some combination of the aforementioned.

The point is, I'm thankful. I can be bitter and angry about the body I've been given, but this body carried three babies. This body has gone amazing places. This body is still moving and shaking and doing.

And maybe my stomach's not as tight as it once was, and I have deep scarring on my tailbone from surgeries, and I have to adapt my exercises constantly... but I'm alive. I'm here. And I'm going to make the most of every moment I'm given.

One breath at a time, loves. That's the only way through.

Nice parallels between Negai no Astro and Tokyo Aliens

I mean, I have 1 person that has caused me to write this, say hi to @chifuyusun but these things ARE nice and maybe someone will start the other manga in the parallels so pls look at my ramblings.

Yes it's just the first chapter for Negai no Astro but I feel some of these are fair assumptions.

There is technically 1 spoiler for Tokyo Aliens but I'm confident it comes out quickly in the main story so I don't think it's a major thing to spoil.

Also I haven't looked at the spoilers for Negai no Astro so I could be very wrong but I would like to not know it from spoilers thanks

Yes I am aware these things are not exclusive of these two series, but it's still nice to see them.

Founded family (and golden retriever MC)

Negai no Astro: they are litteraly a bunch of children that the old man liked and he adopted them all. Hibaru cares deeply for them, he doesn't seem to consider the family being such only on paper, but he wants to protect them and be good for them (such a precious boy)

Tokyo aliens: well, here it is definitely not as in NnA ops. But Akira is desperate to feel the warmth of a family getting closer to the other characters which do seem to look out for him and care for him. No I don't mean Amamiya, he is excluded. But the others are going "well, must adopt him now". And don't get me started on poor Sho which is in a DESPERATE need for a hug and finally with Akira he finding his own peace and opening up more.

Hands for protection

I just find it fun that both our MC don't have a magical weapon or something similar for their battles (for now at least). Hibaru got his magical/super powered hands and immediately used them to protect his brother and help him. When Akira had to chose his battle weapon, he decided to go for gloves (see Father I miss you section).

Idk but there is something so... soft? Precious? In specifically power-upping (?) their hand to protect people? Usually you see people do it for violence, punching and breaking, but them?? They are using them for the others. Hibaru is more focused on attack for now, while Akira on defence but there is something beautiful in seeing them with their hands up ready to protect people.

Spear and Shield - covering for each other

I am a sucker for one thing that is separated in two and those two make the complete again together. They complete each other, backing up the other's weakness. SO OF COURSE I AM EATING GOOD WITH NEGAI NO ASTRE. Spear and shield??? Probably fighting together in the future having to rely on someone else? Sign me up. I need this aspect to be central and not forgotten pls Wakui I always believed in you.

And for Tokyo Aliens you may ask? You are adding to that beautiful trope also the emotional compensation between Akira and Sho. They cover for each other (probably will happen more in the future, poor Akira is still struggling) and well balance each other weak points. Sho is the spear and Akira is the shield (that quite litteraly saved lives, and it was very pretty). I can write an essay but it would have too many spoilers so I will stop now.

Father I miss you (and Mother is MIA I guess)

As the rules established: you can't have both parents. And ofc, why should you be able to keep the father with you??? Ofc they have to die. I am not confident for Tokyo Aliens but that is just me.

I would like to congratulate to the spirit of the fathers because they raised precious boys that love people. But I found interesting how in both cases, the one that gave Hibaru and Akira the strenght to make the correct decision was the memory of their fathers. They both wish to live up to them and make them proud.

In both cases you also have their power coming from an object related to the father (the keychain for Hibaru and the gloves for Akira) They are bringing their fathers to fight with them in a sense. Getting their strenght and their courage. They are precious boys and I am sobbing.

Anyway, I'm sure they are proud my boys. They could not be more proud of you.

Aliens??

I mean, in Tokyo Aliens there are aliens. Shocking, I know. A very interesting and refreshing take if I can add, since most of them are pretty chill. Negai no Astro has nothing confirmed yet, that I know, but I mean the magic thing that gave power has come from space, so I think we are more or less on the same line. Maybe it's a different planet or something. Idk. It doesn't seem to come from humans, that seem to be a correct take.

There are probably more but I think I made my points. If you like one serie I highly suggest you to give a try to the other!

Omori game review (no spoilers): Should you play it or not?

I love video games but I never know what to play so I thought I would start making some game reviews to help those who are in the same case as me. Here we go

First, Omori is a psychological horror RPG game developped by the indie studio omocat. You have to fight ennemies and solve some mysteries, fighting is by turns and it is based on emotions type. I think it can be quite repetitive but the fights are challenging so it makes it fun!

As for the story, I can't tell much without spoiling. All I can say is that it's truly mind breaking, breath taking and interesting. You play as Omori who lives with his friends in a colorful world but then one of them disappear after seeing a picture and horror stuff start appearing. You decide to search for him.

At first, I won't lie, I was bored. It was too cheesy for me and I had no interest into the battles neither the dialogues. But once the friend disapear, things get interesting. The more you get to know about the world you're in and the story, the more you get invested and entertained. In the end, it had the same impact on me as Undertale, except that I didn't cry for undertale but I have cried for omori. I swear, I couldn't stop crying lmao. You get truly attached to the characters and I felt so bad for some of them. At the end, I was truly addicted and realized that I was playing a masterpiece.

However, you shouldn't play it if you're too sensitive!! I'm quite sensitive and sometimes, it was really too much to bare for me (for those who have played it, the mewo scene.... I WAS SO UNCOMFORTABLE AND TERRIFIED). It has some trigger warning that you should definitely read and consider before playing it! If you're comfortable with that then I think you should play it, the game is wonderful.

How long I have played: around 25 hours

The day ends with you two snuggled up on the couch together, and you fall asleep on his chest, arms wrapped around his torso (he's probably just the comfiest and he probably smells so good I just agdhasgfhs)

He just smiles at the sight, thinking about how lucky he is to have you in his life <3

Tengen Uzui

It is an EVENT

As with everything with Tengen, it is flashy, flamboyant, and extravagant

And, of course, his lovely wives help in making the day special

Like Gojo, Tengen will SPOIL you!!! He'll get you an especially beautiful kimono that he had custom made for you to wear <3

Get ready to be just showered in love and praise from all of them, all day

Suma has a hand written letter for you full of how much she adores you and appreciates you, she will also just cling to you all day long

Makio shoves a bouquet of hand-picked flowers into your arms, grumbling while she does so (but she's blushing and shyly wishing you a happy birthday)

Hinatsuru, of course, cooks your favourite meal, but also enlists your help in making a cake for you. She just enjoys spending time with you and likes teaching you how to bake

When Tengen gets home he swoops you up and practically crushes you in his huge arms, swinging you around and covering you in kisses. "Another year of you in this world, Y/N! How very flamboyant!"

Bakugo Katsuki

"Oi, dumbass. Happy birthday."

Acts like he doesn't give a shit or that he didn't spend an extraordinary amount of time panicking about what to do or what to get you for your birthday (spoiler alert: he did ;w;)

It got to such a point that he begrudgingly enlisted the help of his classmates

When Izuku and Ochako suggested throwing you a surprise party, he was a bit hesitant but eventually went along with it, helping them set everything up and telling them what you'd like or wouldn't like

You were so surprised and touched when you saw how much effort they all put into it!

When you hugged Bakugo and thanked him for getting it all set up, he grumbled and blushed a little, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yeah, yeah...you're welcome."

Though when he sees you having fun and enjoying yourself he can't help but smile a little bit

He would never ever admit it but he's so weak for you <333

Gundham Tanaka

How should he go about showing you how much you matter to him, especially on such an important day?

He consults Sonia on what to do and she replies with "Well, what do they like to do? Take them to do something they like!"

So, he does just that. Accompanies you wherever you'd like to go, no matter where or what it is. He struggles with socializing, of course, but he enjoys being near you and watching you

He'll stay very quiet throughout the whole day but the look in his eyes just shows how much he adores you (they become so much softer)

If you both somehow end up at an animal shelter his demeanour completely changes

You both spend so much time just playing with the cats and dogs ;u;

Sonia, Peko and Gonta stop by later on with cake to celebrate with you both <3

Sooooo the Main Story quest i kinda want to talk about it so to all you pumpkins who don't want to get spoiled ignore this post okiiii 🩷 because sso Main quest spoilers

So a few months ago i stopped playing the quest because i just could not win this damn race with Beatrix (I'm a person who get's angry very fast when something doesn't go the way i want 😅) but now i started it again and how did i win the race at my first try when i was struggling with it a few months ago ?! Then i got to a big book shelf that hides something behind, the book shelf slides away and i'm like OMG WOW and Alex just say's that she thinks that it's a broom closet....sorry Alex but that big ass fat gate with a Juwel in the middle is definitely not a ✨️ just a broom closet✨️ well on going it leads to another i don't know how to call it i just put some pics here:

Ok so obviuosly there’s gonna be spoilers here. There’s a very short and concise summary about my thoughts on this at the bottom, if you wanna avoid being spoiled (I’ve tried to keep the spoil to a minimum)

So what you need to understand is that yes, there is romance. ISH. The series isn’t about romance, so it isn’t the main focus at all. Big Butch (Gideon) and Skeleton Lesbian (Harrow) have grown up hating eachother; Gideon has hated Harrow because Harrow has both represented and been an integral part of a system that has kept Gideon prisoner in a dying society, and Harrow has hated Gideon because Harrow hasn’t been able to understand Gideon (Gideon should have died a bunch of years ago, but she didn’t, and it freaked Harrow and her parents tf out).

But they come to this realization that they’re each other’s person. They’re in a new environment, in a new dynamic, away from home, and things are collapsing around them, people are dying. And they have a short period of time when they come to understand each other, they’re a unit. And then they collapse too.

Gideon dies. Harrow, in an attempt to survive this loss (and also to stop her soul from absorbing Gideons, due to death magic) has an even MORE skeleton lesbian (Ianthe) perform lobotomy on her so she won’t remember Gideon. But Gideon has already been a bit absorbed, and is living is the back of Harrows brain. She’s stuck there for almost a year, while Harrow is having the worst time dodging Ianthe’s (sorta) unwanted advances and “Ortus”, god’s friend who keeps trying to murder her. While this is happening, Gideon comes to terms with the fact that she is in love with Harrow. She’s watching Harrow go through life being a wet stinky rat of a necromancer, with no memory of Gideon, and Gideon loves her.

The kicker is that Gideon thinks Harrow had her brainjob because she was grossed out by having Gideons soul in her, and wanted to forget about Gideon because of the yuck.

Due to circumstances, Harrow dies too, and Gideon pilots her body while Harrow roams the afterlife. She regains her memories of Gideon, and Gideons death, and decides that she’d rather have Gideon keep living in her body, alive, than live in a world without Gideon.

After that, a bunch of stuff happens, Gideon gets back into her own body, some other lady takes over Harrows for a while, and Harrow takes a well deserved soul-nap before eventually getting back into her body again. The latest book in the series ends with Gideon declaring that she still wants to be by Harrows side, even after Harrow gets kissed by an eldritch horror with the face of Barbie.

Summary:

There’s a lot of layers to this, but yeah they love each other. They’re idiots who can’t communicate for shit, but they both die for each other and then help each other back to life. The series is about love, and what it does to a person. I’m not gonna lie and say there’s romance, because there isn’t (not in the traditional sense), but there is love.

Also, they are lesbians. By default, it cannot be queerbait. They're queer, wether or not they end up together -- which I think they will, just to be clear, but even if they don't it doesn't erase the fact that they're queer. So it actually can't be queerbaiting.

ENCHANTED AFTERTHOUGHTS

Game: Enchanted Arms (January 12, 2006)

Console: Xbox 360

Rough day so far. Trying to unwind a little bit by taking care of some non-work related stuff. So I figure this is the perfect time to talk about Enchanted Arms! I beat this game on the first of September, but even 5 days later I can't stop thinking about it. There's something really special about this game and I want to be the one to tell YOU why you should check it out... Although maybe not cause I'll be talking about some spoilers I guess. Oops.

As always, this isn't a review yadda yadda ect ect. I'm just spilling my thoughts about how I felt from playing through it. Not meant to be a guide for if you should play, it's just me talking about video games. Always try ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I talk about here if it interests you at all.

SOME ENCHANTED ARMS SPOILERS AHEAD, IF YOU EVEN CARE U_U

Opening

I'm not 100% sure how I found out about this game. It was on youtube I believe. Either a video for underrated or bad RPGs I genuinely cannot recall lol. But I remember thinking it actually looked really cool! And last year I managed to find a copy for under $10 on ebay and decided, hey why the heck not? And gave it a shot. I made slow progress on it through August but FINALLY managed to wrap it up in September. Like I said earlier, I haven't stopped thinking about it since. It's a janky little game but I think it's a special game too.

Stuff I liked

So, first and foremost. This is an XBOX 360 JRPG. Which is a very odd era for turnbased RPGs to exist in just in general. They tend to be kinda janky and feel a little cheap in some ways? But this just makes them extremely charming in my opinion. They're so few and far in between on 7th generation consoles but ESPECIALLY 360. So I find them all to be extremely charming in spite of their flaws. And this applies to Enchanted Arms as well. All the weirdness and jank just kinda makes it more endearing.

You play as Atsuma, a hot blooded anime-protagonist type guy (who is also an honorary edgy badboy made in a lab! You love to see it.) As he goes on a quest to save his 2 best friends who vanished after a powerful devil golems is freed. He meets new friends and discovers a lot about himself while finding a way to save the world. Kinda basic stuff but the story does manage to do some VERY interesting things. It has a big moral on relying on others, not doing things alone, sticking to what you believe in no matter what, but also some tougher stuff like when helping others just becomes about helping yourself, ect ect. It's a lot of themes I really love and love seeing tackled and I think Enchanted Arms really does a good job with a lot of the ideas! I really loved seeing how the 4 main teammates grow and come to really trust each other. And I thought the whole finale and concept of Infinity was SUPER cool. Infinity was such a freaky and interesting final boss. And while I won't spoil it completely, the way you kill him was very cool.

The characters are certainly a high point in my opinion. Again, I LOVE Atsuma. I'm a huge sucker for protagonists and he has pretty much everything I love. Stupid? Check. Edgy badboy made in a lab? Check. Happy-go-lucky? Check. Has to do some soul searching through the game? Check. Evil fucked up arm that does crazy shit he can't explain? Check check check! But the other characters are good too! I liked Karin is a little annoying but generally I'd say her mean attitude is funny more than it is off putting. Plus the cooking scene was very good. Raigar is cool and I used him a TON during the game. And Yuki is hilarious, she may have been one of the funniest next to Atsuma. And they all have great chemistry, I loved how they tease each other but also help and comfort each other. It's a small party but I think focusing on just 4 teammates really helped the game out in the long run!

Even other things like just the world concept. The lore behind the golem wars is cool, I like the different city concepts and how they're based on real world locations. And even small world building details like how everyone hates Atsuma at school, to the point where there's an afterschool club for hating on him. Or how everyone loves Toya. There's neat concepts like a girl in another city who knows Atsuma, but you don't really know her unless you actually read the tie in comic. There's small world building stuff like that, which you'd expect from an RPG probably. But still! It's neat!

Outside of just the story, the gameplay is really interesting. The overworld is pretty standard walking around dungeons type stuff. But in combat is where it gets really interesting. It's turnbased, but rather than being just regular turnbased combat, it has strategy elements infused into it. So you actually move your characters around a grid, and your attacks only attack certain tiles on the enemy grid (if you've ever played Ikenfell, it's VERY similar to that!) So fights require a little bit more strategy and thinking than just mashing through them. Even basic enemy encounters can topple you if you're not playing smart. While this can make some encounters a total pain, believe me, ultimately I think it benefits the game more than hurts it.

And its not just the combat itself that's unique. The way stats work and characters upgrade is pretty interesting. You have all the usual stats and level ups you'd expect. But where most of your stat increases come from is actually a skill currency you get from battles that you can spend on upgrading stats or learning new moves. It's interesting! And allows you to customize your team how you see fit to match your playstyle! Which is nice! There's some other stuff like friendship points, combos, and overdrive attacks. But I'll be perfectly honest, I never got a grasp on what these were lol. But I think they all play into eachother and helping you build meter for super powerful EX attacks?

And then, something that kinda surprised me about this game. It has a small monster collection aspect to it? As you progress you can find golems to fight in the overworld who will join your team if you beat them, as well as golems you can buy from shops to join you. Golems act as additional teammates who all have their own unique attacks with unique tile layouts they can hit. You can also upgrade them with their skillpoints uniquely. So while they don't learn new skills, they can still be useful and serve to help fill holes in your team composition. For example, I got HUGE use out of the first golem you get in the story, Taigalion, because they can power up 2 teammates without having to waste those teammates turns. Or Eternity, a later game golem, who could use Gravity on some bosses to help me cheese the fights. It's neat!

Outside of all that? I'd say the highlights are the graphics and especially the music! The graphics aren't AMAZING but sometimes I think they can look REALLY good. Particularly in the environments! The Ice Castle, the Marsh, the Woods, even just the overworld field all look INCREDIBLE in my opinion! And relistening to the OST now, it's SO good! I forgot how many good songs were in this. Towards Reconstruction, Day at the Academy, and Reborn are all good ones. And the final boss theme was so haunting. And there's more I could praise about the visuals like the cool menu designs, that equipment shows up on your character (which is always a plus) and how cool all the different golems can look! But I think it might be time to move on!

Stuff I didn't like

Yeah it's not perfect. Starting with smaller stuff, there's a bit to be desired on the characters. Reading the manga that came with the game made me really wish they had opted for a more anime look for the humans than the slightly more realistic approach the game has.

And while I DO like the outfits of the main 4 teammates for the most part. I think Raigar's outfit is a little weird. And Makoto (we'll get to him) and Toya, Atsuma's 2 best friends, are just totally dripless. Toya mostly just cause of his rat tail, a better hair cut to fix it. But Makoto. He wears clogs what more do I gotta say?

Okay I'll go into it really quick cause Makoto is kind of a mess. He's a huge homophobic stereotype, I think having a gay teammates RULES! And having him be in love with another team mate is great. But now like this. He's the one with the blonde hair + exposed midriff on the right on the bottom image if you wanna go peek. But he's like, almost a sexual harasser in some ways and he's ABSOLUTELY played as like "ew gross he's GAY zomg 0_o" Even having a stereotype gay voice and GENUINELY saying "YAAAAAAAAAAAS" super high pitched during some of his attacks which is... So nuts that anyone thought this was a good idea. Spoilers but he returns later in the game with a new disguise that's supposed to be straight but has his chest fully exposed revealing a big scar. You failed this so hard, FromSoftware. Like. How? How did you fuck this up?

ANYWAY! outside of that there's some smaller gripes like the voice acting being not super great. Again a lot of the human designs are kinda meh. Stuff like that. But I think I really need to wrap this up by complaining about some serious gameplay issues I have.

So first off, the golems are totally underused. Once I got 4 teammates I VERY rarely found myself ever pulling out my golems again. Which is a shame cause that's such a big mechanic. While I don't totally mind I think being able to upgrade and customize the golems further would have made me care about them in the second act of the game. But even if I were still using them by that point, I doubt I would have been able to OBTAIN much more. I tried to get every golem I found in the overworld. But partway through the game the fights just become such bullshit. ALWAYS letting the golems go first, then wipe your team with instakill attacks. It's so stupid. So a lot of the golems got left behind in my playthrough anyway.

Then there's the gravity status. This becomes less of an issue later when Karin learns a status ailment curing move. But Gravity is a status ailment that means you can no longer move on the grid. EVER AGAIN. Unless you can cure yourself, status ailments never go away. Meaning if someone gets hit by gravity, even an enemy, they are STUCK until they die. Which is great cause it lets you cheese some fights if you get a boss stuck where they can't hit you. But if that happens to you? You're done! Game over!

But where this game really struggles is with balancing. Some fights are INSANELY easy. Letting you breeze through them with no issues. While some fights are insane slogs that take FOREVER to finish. Some big examples are 1-on-1 fights, which usually devolve into whoever goes first (which is ALWAYS the enemy in these cases) winning so you just have to spam health items. But there are more specific cases of weird balancing too. Such as the Warlord of Earth who randomly deals INSANE damage and takes minimal damage themselves. Dragging the fight out FOREVER. Or the first of 8 (YES 8) final boss phases which can only be hit by Atsuma but also instakills Atsuma? So I had to go grind in the fucking casino for HOURS just to build up the money to buy him enough skill points to raise his health high enough to survive that stupid instakill attack (I did 3000 but people were suggesting 7000 hp. It takes FOREVER to do the casino grind by the way. I won't describe it here but good lord.) And it'll always be just for stupid little reasons that you get totally knee capped during a fight like this. It's frustrating. You wanna save your money for weapons and skills but ultimately you kinda need to spend tons of money on items just to be able to survive tons of bullshit.

Now I will say, for all the bullshit with balancing and just roadblocking you with bullshit. Enchanted Arms does a good job at making sure the enemies play the same game as you. Which is something a lot of games struggle to do. Enemies are all susceptible to status ailments, even most bosses. Enemies ALSO have to manage how many attacks they can do before they must recharge like you do. They're susceptible to the same weaknesses you are. Which is nice. Again a lot of games don't do that. But Enchanted Arms does which makes the game just that tiny bit easier thankfully.

I have some other complaints, like, it's an expensive ass game to clear. Requiring TONS of money to buy everything you need, which leads me to believe the casino is required in a weird way which sucks. Or how there's a weakness system but it kind of makes no sense? (If you're weak to something, it means they're also weak to YOU so it's kind of pointless imo). Or the insane amount of tutorials the game tries to give you which ALL devolve into "go here, press A. Done." It's actually more insane than a Mario & Luigi game lmao. But I think we're done here.

Final Thoughts

As I kept writing more and more things to praise and criticize just kept popping into my brain! There's just SO much to say about Enchanted Arms. I'm kind of shocked. There were times I genuinely wanted to snap the disc in half. But now that all is said and done. I really can't help but look back on the adventure fondly. I still feel like I have more to say. I feel like this game is weirdly influential but no one realizes it cause no one played it. I feel like it's such a good game and deserves more attention (IT WAS REMOVED FROM THE XBOX STORE BOOOOO BRING IT BACK) but at the same time it is a clunky game with a lot of short comings. But I still liked it a lot! I'dunno! It's a game that gave me a lot to think about and I think I'll be thinking about it for a long time coming.

At this point I've played 4 Xbox 360 JRPGs. Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Enchanted Arms, and Tales of Vesperia (which I played the Definitive Version but still it started as a 360 game lol) and honestly excluding Lost Odyssey which I hated despite popular opinion. They've all been VERY good. Even Lost Odyssey had high points when it wanted to. So I'm honestly kind of tempted to try and track down and play every 360 JRPG I can get my hands on. Again, it's just a fascinating era for a genre I love. We'll see!

5. Has your OC always had the same opinion of themselves or has this changed over time? Have they learned to love themselves - perhaps with the help of others - as their journey progressed? Or have the consequences of their actions only served to erode their sense of self-worth? for Aemon

You know what, this is sort of perfect for him, because a lot of his character arc is about this & this ask gives me a chance to really think about it.

Minor spoilers for Chapter 13 (I've already alluded to them, but I'm noting it anyway) & beyond are below the cut.

When we first meet Aemon as a sentient character in Chapter 11/"Be Not A Bed Of Roses," he doesn't have the most developed sense of who he is, because he's 5, but he trusts the world & the people in it & thinks well about himself because he's never been given a reason not to. He "knows" how his life is going to go with all the confidence of a child who has been loved & nurtured, & who has an older sister he looks up to that has given him a tangible goal that she herself accomplished. He's not always sure of himself, because again, five-years-old, but those fears are, generally, other people's problems & have nothing to do with how he sees himself. He maintains this throughout Chapter 12/"In The Name Of The Mother, In The Name Of The Father," as well because not a lot different happens to him.

In Chapter 13 (tentatively 2 halves, we'll see what it starts looking like when I get to writing) things get to be a different story. He was the only one there when his mom died, he saw what happened & he was powerless to stop what was going on because he was 6 & was too physically weak to do anything, & because he hadn't claimed Silverwing at that point. There was, quite literally, nothing he could have done to stop what was going on, & he blacks out before going largely non-verbal for a good month-and-a-half. He doesn't necessarily blame himself for what happened, not fully anyway. He definitely lays blame at Daemon's feet because, well, he's who did it. But Aemon does think he should have been able to do something: if he was big & strong like Ser Gerold & Ser Gunthor he could have stopped his dad, if he had claimed Silverwing earlier he could have stopped his dad. Just a lot of really heavy stuff that he lays on himself even though he's really young, that he sort of buckles under the weight of for a while & lets control a lot of things that happen once he's sent to be fostered in The North.

It takes a really long time for him to recover from actively thinking about how he could have/should have done something, & from how badly he views his response to the direct & quite frankly dark trauma of witnessing his mom's murder. Truthfully, a lot of it doesn't every really leave him: he trains ridiculously hard to get Big And Strong because he doesn't want to ever be in a situation where he can't protect someone ever again, he hates how he clams up and reverts to how he was when the trauma was fresh if he's put in a situation that makes him confront Daemon is a real person who exists, he dislikes how his reaction made him isolated from other people because it made him weird (& that fuels a lot of his closeness with Helaena later on once they meet).

His siblings & their spouses all help on some level, by going to visit him while he's fostering most times he asks & constantly writing him & showing him lots of attentive care that reinforces that they still love him & don't blame him for anything because he was a literal child & that he was sent away to help everyone/not just to get him out of the way. A lot of the work gets done by the House fostering him (don't want to necessarily spoil where he goes since I'm already spilling some of his emotional arc, lol), because they're who he's around all the time & reassure him & put in a lot of the Ye Olde Therapy work. Also, ngl, his boyfriend does a lot of the helping. His Non-Relative-Bestie/Foster Brother/Lover (Aemon is going full Fucky Targ Relationship Dynamics lmao) is his manic pixie dream boy toy who helps Aemon do a lot of inner work to get okay with things by being a stable, supportive presence in his life who sees all of/the worst of him & never gets scared away.

So by the time Aemon gets back to Runestone once he's 16, I'm not gonna say he's back to where he was, because Kill The Boy And Let The Goth Be Born, but he's doing about as well as one can when you live in a setting/time period where therapy doesn't exist. He sees himself in a way better & healthier way. None of the negativity ever leaves him, because what he saw just irrevocably altered him, how could it not? He gets to thinking about himself positively though, & once he's back home & starts growing up he keeps making little bits of progress until he's got a good view of himself a good 85-90% of the time/really needs a dark moment to get in a bad Self Image place again.
