Amicable
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Pairing: Willas Tyrell x Reader
Warnings: So disgustingly cute and fluffy that you might gag a little
Notes: I’ve been thinking recently that my dear Willas doesn’t get nearly enough love, and I wanted to help fix that. // Based on the prompt “How do you always manage to look so captivating?” from this list.
Tumblr media
You were no stranger to love. More of an acquaintance though, really. You had seen it many times, as well as heard it described in songs, and read about it in books. But you had never personally met love. Truthfully, you didn’t think you ever would.
You’d been told from a young age that your husband would be chosen on the grounds of whoever would provide the most beneficial alliance for your family. In other words, you wouldn’t marry for love; you’d marry for political reasons. Because of this, you’d long ago come to terms with the fact that you’d most likely never find love. Deep down, however, you craved it more than anything in the world.
Your dreams were filled with fantasies of a man who was gentle, kind, and intelligent. Someone you could hold invigorating conversations with, someone who cared about you. Someone who loved you more than anything, as the songs and stories described.
Yet all the proposals you received were from men who were loud, brash, and dull as could be. They all seemed to think that you’d fall head over heels for them the moment they flashed a smile at you, or if they won a tourney in your honor. You wanted absolutely nothing to do with them, and you vehemently opposed each proposal.
The pressure on you from your parents to agree to a match was steadily increasing with each proposal you rejected. Their insistence was the only reason you agreed to meet the heir to Highgarden, but you assumed that you’d dislike him just as much as all the rest. You knew that you’d likely have to marry him regardless of whether or not you were fond of him, because your pool of suitors was almost entirely depleted.
The absolute last thing you ever expected was to fall fast in love with Lord Willas Tyrell – but it was the best thing that ever happened to you.
You had been less than thrilled about meeting – and ultimately, potentially marrying – Willas, but you went along with it, as you didn’t have much of a choice in the matter. Your mother tried to compensate for your lack of enthusiasm by being extra cheery that day, but it had no effect on you.
When you entered the courtyard of Highgarden, you were instantly overwhelmed by the staggering number of flowers. Every color imaginable was exhibited by every type of flower imaginable in that garden, all combining to create a lovely floral aroma. Vines climbed up the surrounding walls of the castle, and birds sung happily atop the trees. It was a few minutes before you returned your eyes to the people around you, and when you did, your gaze instantly fell upon Lord Willas.
All of the air left your lungs the moment you locked eyes with him. He was far more handsome than you had ever anticipated, with a mass of beautiful brown curls atop his head, and a warm smile. You had been told that he had a crippled leg due to a tourney accident as a boy, and that he was a good man, and far more astute than the other men you’d met – but no one had mentioned that he was so attractive.
You were so busy staring at him that you nearly ran into your mother, whom you’d been walking behind, as she stopped once she reached the table where Willas and his company stood. You didn’t even hear your mother introduce you, but seeing her give a slight inclination of her head as a greeting managed to break you from your trance, and you followed suit.
After taking a seat at the ornately carved wooden table at the center of the courtyard, began the obligatory friendly chatter, followed by discussion of marriage arrangements between your mother, Lord Mace Tyrell, and Lady Olenna. You did your best to pay attention, although you mainly remained silent. You were primarily occupied by attempting to steal glances at Willas, but each time you did, you quickly looked away after finding that he was already looking at you, that same warm smile on his lips.
Once their discussions died down, they left you alone with Willas, so that the two of you could have the opportunity to talk privately. The two of you sat in silence for a few moments, before Willas became the first to speak, a very serious expression on his face.
“I suppose this is where I should attempt to smooth-talk you into agreeing to marry me. I’m not very good at smooth-talking, so I won’t bother. I will say this: I know that I’m not any woman’s ideal husband. No woman dreams of marrying a cripple, who spends half his time with his nose in a book, and the other half with his animals. I’m not some well-known, handsome knight like my brother Loras, and I’m not a skilled swordsman like my brother Garlan. Those are attributes that most women hope for in a husband, and although I am none of those things, I like to think of myself as a good man. I hope that fact is enough to persuade you to at least consider the proposal.”
You allowed his words to sink in before responding. Truthfully, you wanted to laugh, but you knew that he would likely take it the wrong way.
“You consider yourself to be the last man that any woman would wish to marry, yet you’re the very man I’ve dreamed of since I was a child,” you began, and Willas’s eyebrows raised slightly in surprise. “I’ve had countless proposals from men who fit the description of what you believe to be a woman’s ‘ideal man,’ and I disliked every one of them. I’ve always wanted a husband who is kind and intelligent. Someone who describes themselves as a good man, who often has his nose in a book, seems to be exactly what I’ve always wanted.”
Willas’s smile returned as he let out a laugh, and you found yourself momentarily admiring the way his smile lit up his golden brown eyes.
“Well, you certainly seem to be the type of woman I’ve always wanted as well: beautiful, with a kind heart and horrible eyesight,” he joked, and you laughed lightly as you shook your head in disagreement.
The conversation flowed easily from there, and you found yourself completely losing track of time. It seemed that only a half hour or so had gone by, but when your mother and the others returned, they noted that several hours had passed. The grin on your mother’s face as she saw how much you’d been enjoying your visit with Willas was somewhere between overjoyed and relieved.
“It seems that we’ve finally discovered a man whose proposal you will accept,” she remarked, hope filling her voice.
You glanced at Willas, and the two of you shared a smile before you said, “Yes, it seems we have.”
-----
Years later, you found yourself looking down upon that same courtyard, in which three children were playing a game of tag. Your spot on the third floor above gave you an excellent view. Their jubilant laughter filled the air as they chased one another through the ornate garden. You were so busy watching them that you didn’t hear your husband walk up behind you.
“How do you always manage to look so captivating?” Willas inquired, leaning on the window ledge beside you. You smiled, feeling your cheeks and ears burning slightly.
“Even after eight years, you still manage to make me blush,” you said, and he only grinned before kissing your temple and wrapping an arm around your shoulders. You rested your head on his shoulder, and both of you admired your children.
“They’re certainly enjoying themselves,” Willas observed, just as the eldest, your son, screamed in mock agony when his younger sister tagged him – after he slowed down to allow her to do so – before she sprinted in the opposite direction, as fast as her three-year-old legs could take her.
“Have you any idea how maddening it is to have gone through the struggles of carrying and birthing three children, only for each of them to look like a replica of their father?” you teased, looking down at the three mops of curls weaving between the rows of flowers, and Willas chuckled.
“They all have your personality, though. And I’ve always thought the youngest resembles you more than me, albeit with my hair,” Willas countered, and placed another kiss on your temple, squeezing you gently with the arm around your shoulders. “It’s moments like these that I’m reminded that I’m the luckiest man in the world. I have a beautiful wife, and three perfect children. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
“What about a fourth?” you asked softly, glancing at Willas from the corner of your eye.
He looked as though he nearly gave himself whiplash from turning to look at you so quickly, his eyebrows raised so high that his forehead wrinkled slightly.
“Are you…?”
You nodded, and he let out a joyful shout before pulling you into a tight hug.
“Three perfect children, and counting,” Willas corrected, laughing happily. He pulled away from you so that he could cradle your face in his hands, those golden brown eyes you fell for so long ago shining as the sunlight hit is face. “I love you – more than you’ll ever know.”
“And I love you more.”

Upside
As we stepped out of the training chamber, I realized that something had gone wrong. The suits' gravity hadn't reset. We were still upside. Above us was the floor, we were standing on the ceiling. What made this even worse was we couldn't fix this without mum's help.
We looked up at the ground as mum came round the corner to take our suits off. I tried yelling for her to look up, but the training suits stopped any sound from reaching past the helmets.
"Alex, please shut up," said my older brother, Tim, "you're screaming straight into your communicator, you idiot"
"Timmy. Timmy Timmy Timmy. Just because you are the eldest child, that does not mean you can tell me to shut up. That's rude Timmy."
"Yes, it does. And don't call me Timmy. Anyway, how are we gonna get her attention"
Mum looked around, obviously wondering where we were, and started to head back in the direction she came, probably to speak to dad and ask if he knew where we were.
As she left, I started to follow her, strolling around the light fixtures and clambering over doorframes. Tim followed me, asking every few seconds what we were going to do to get their attention. I eventually give up and whirl to face him.
"Thomas. Ian. Timpson. You are older than me by. Three. Years. How the hell would I know what to do? I have never been in this situation before. What I am going to do is go hijack a water pipe and get something to drink that I may use for part of a plan. I am also gonna follow mum and see what their plan is so I know if there is some way I can help with it."
After my mini rant I stormed off, with Tim still following me. The closest drinking water pipe was the one that led to my room, so we set off, with me grabbing the only cup we could reach from the ceiling. It was a neon pink sippy cup, with a cartoon penguin on the side, missing its lid, from when I was a toddler. I hate it, but it's all I could reach.
We reached the pipe, upsides of messing gravity up instead of training for emergencies are that you can reach all the piping on the ceiling without needing a 7 meter step ladder, and stood there considering what to do. After roughly 5 minutes of me muttering while planning what to do, and Tim standing around daydreaming about girls or something, I came up with an idea.
I turned to him and started telling him what to do. "Right, you hold the cup underneath, and I'll open the valve, and then we can have something to drink while planning what to do"
He positioned the cup underneath the valve, and I opened it. It went everywhere. We forgot gravity hadn't changed for anything apart from us.
Tim attempts to raise on eyebrow at me, "Lexi, Lexi, Lexi-"
"Stop mocking me" I snapped.
"-What did you think would – wait, what did happen?" He looked around in confusion and then down at his hand that now had water on it.
"Well, Tim, you see, when the grav sets in our suits mess up, it doesn't affect the world around us. You would know this if you actually used your brain"
"Okay? That makes sense? I think?"
After explaining basic physics to my absolute idiot of a brother, I took the sippy cup off him and opened the valve so the water would flow into it. After it was pretty much full, I handed the cup to Tim so I could use both hands to close the valve securely.
"Baby cup for baby person" I explained with a smirk.
Disappointingly, Tim just rolled his eyes and accepted the cup. Then he tried to drink it and it went everywhere. I spoke to soon about how disappointing it was. There was water all over his helmet and the floor. Why did he even try to drink? He has a helmet on.
"Idiot"
I took the cup back off him and refilled it and this time I kept it in my hand and told Tim to close the valve. Thankfully, he managed to do this one thing correctly. Finally. He actually managed something. I'm surprised.
Honestly, I'm not surprised he had it the wrong way up. Holding it bottom up was just weird.
I started muttering to myself glaring at Tim out of habit while doing it. "Right. So. If gravity is the same then we could-"
"Stop geeking, I wanna get off the ceiling"
"-stop interrupting and I'll work on it. Gravity works the same. Objects go up for us. Parents are up. We are other up. Water goes down-up? Ok! Tim start listening to me right now."
"You done yet Alex. I want to watch TV."
"Yep, I'm done. What we're, sorry, what I'm gonna do is take the water, find Mum, and hold the cup the right way up for us. The water will pour on her head, we'll get a laugh, and you'll get to watch your TV."
After saying this I turned on my heel and left, carrying the cup of water. My first stop of action was going to find my parents, Mum specifically. My main guess is she'd be in the engine room, but I really hope she isn't. I'm checking the living room first, I want to live just a bit longer please.
On the walk to the living room Tim asked me where we were going 7.5 times, and I yelled at him 3 times. At least we were distracted from the walk though, cause damn the ceilings are boring.
Once we arrived at the living room it took me a couple of seconds to locate my mum, but as soon as I did I made my way over to above her. Preparing myself for the anger that is my mum when her hair gets wet, I slowly turned the cup over.
The water poured.

Somebody Else ~ Part 4
SOOO, I got inspired last night and ended up starting/finishing the next update. I hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for the next part! I have excellent plans for a few more chapters. Feedback is always welcomed!
Angel Reyes x Reader/ Ezekiel Reyes x Reader
Word Count: 1.6k
CATCH UP HERE
Warnings: language, general angst, brother jealousy
Translations
He estado mejor: I’ve been better.
Estás preciosa: You are beautiful.
Por que, mi amor: Why, my love?
Vigila tu espalda hermanito: Watch your back, little brother.
Tumblr media
-------------------------------------
She knew he was here before she ever heard the knock at the front door. It had been fourteen pathetic days since she asked him to leave her alone and he walked away. Her body tinged with anxiety mingling through her nerves, she wasn’t ready for this to see him. Y/N gaze shifted when she heard the inevitable sound of a motorcycle turning onto the street, Y/N reluctantly braced herself against the counter trying to find any courage still residing within her. The door rattled open as the cool air found residence on her skin, Angel Reyes was a goddamn Adonis.
“Hey Ba-.. Y/N. ¿cómo estás?”
Angel stepped closer to her immediately causing Y/N to recoil, her new-found courage evaporating into momentary fear. When he noticed her hesitation his right hand unknowingly found home atop his heart as he gently rubbed at the aching spot. Angel felt his heart break all over again. ‘This was all your fault’ constantly replayed on an infinite loop as a haunting reminder, ingraining itself into his daily thoughts. Why did Adelita get under his skin? How did he stray from the one girl who’s remained by his side since the very beginning?
“He estado mejor.” Apprehension lingered in the room; unhappiness etched its way into the bare concrete walls. The air maintained a stagnant, stale, and smothering ambiance. But if she knew one thing for sure it was her undeniable energy with Angel even when he the cause of her heartbreak.
“Estás preciosa. I miss y—” Suddenly, she stormed towards him firmly placing her soft hands over his smooth lips effectively cutting him off mid-sentence.
“Cut the bullshit, Angel. Have you talked to her since we broke up?” Her ocean blues were glazed with unshed tears as she impatiently awaited his response unsure if she was actually prepared for the answer. Even on Y/n’s deathbed she would never admit it aloud, but some deeply rooted and fucked up piece of her yearned to be by his side once again, and that terrified her more than raising their unborn child.
Seconds crawled by before a tear slid down Y/N’s blushed cheek. Angel’s muteness was more than enough of a response to her question. She was officially an idiot…again.
Y/N’s lip quivered with melancholy; her pulse raced against her skin; her once quick-witted tongue momentarily muzzled as defeat seeped into her very core.
“I need to stop imagining situations in my head that aren’t going to happen.”
Once more Angel attempted to close the gap between them slowly inching her way. She was so close he could almost graze his fingertips against her freckled skin. Too focused to comprehend his surroundings, Angel neglected to hear the tiny whimper leave Y/N. Her hand placed defiantly in front of her frame halting his movements. “Please, stop. Don’t come any closer.”
“¿Por que, mi amor? His breathe tickled along her jawline causing her spine to shiver. Angel was a man of many skills. He so desperately wanted to push the loose tendrils of her blue hair and look into her eyes. They always reflected nothing but the honest truth, it was her God-given power and imminent downfall. But Y/N refused him forgoing his selfish whims.
“When I think of our love, I think of pain, and that shouldn’t be so. But I love you so much. That’s what makes this next part so tricky.” Stay strong, Y/N.
The fire blazing in her dark and injured heart seemed to glow around her like an unwavering flame. She loved him because Angel had seemingly brought her back to life. She had been like a lonely caterpillar in a cocoon, and he had drawn her out and shown her that she was a butterfly. Then he proceeded to rip off her delicate wings.
“Is there something you’re not telling me, Y/N?” He was losing her. There was no absolutely doubt in his mind.
“Goodness can be found sometimes in the middle of hell, Angel. I’d say this is pretty fucking close, wouldn’t you agree?... I’m pregnant.” Y/N shuddered as air rushed past her lips releasing itself from the confines of her lungs.
Shock radiated every neuron in his entire body suddenly feeling himself come alive. Suddenly Angel was hyper-acute of the stunning figure in front of him. The edges of his vision darkened as blood rushed throughout his ears. It reminded him of the first time he heard the ocean; distressingly peaceful.
“Angel, you, uh, look a little pale. I think you need to sit down.” Still lost in translation, Y/N reached for his forearm guiding him towards the kitchenette chair. Stagnant electricity remained claustrophobically between the duo. She kneeled against the cold tile finally at eye level since he walked in.
“I’m sorry for coming in and fucking up your life. I never meant for things to get so fucking twisted. You have to believe me, Y/N. You are genuinely the best gal I’ve ever had the pleasure to call mine. Never forget that.”
A sad smile graced her lips, her muscles pulsated with uneasy energy. “That doesn’t change the fact that you want her. It was my fault, I fooled myself into ever believing I was your end game.” Her gentle hands rested on his dark denim jeans rubbing small circles all while subconsciously soothing his anxiety, allowing him the luxury of simply inhaling some much-needed air. Even after he dumped her, abandoned her for his interest in another dangerous woman filled with her own deceitful secrets, Y/N still somehow grounded him.
“Every morning, I wake up and forget just for a second that it all happened. But once my eyes open, it buries me like a murderous landslide of sharp, sad rocks. Once my eyes pry themselves open, I’m heavy, like there’s too much gravity on my heart. I’ve been in love with you my whole life but I think it’s time for me to walk away. For good, this time. I’m ... letting you go. Consider yourself free.”
Y/N pivoted off his knees standing up straight while taking a few steps away from him.
His voice a mere murmur; “When did you find out?”
She internally chuckled recalling the shitty day in question. “The day we ended things.”
Unexpectedly, Angel became the question king in concerns with all matters of Y/N’s life.
“Does anybody else know?”
The words left her mouth before her brain had a moment to register. “Simple, Ez.”
“Why did my brother know before me??”
“Because he’s my best friend.”
Shaking his head in disagreement; “He might be your best friend but he’s in love with you. He’s been drooling over you since elementary school. You run into his arms literally any time something happens. You think I don’t see this shit?” His angered tone seemingly increased forcing the veins along his tanned neck to bulge out ferociously.
“He was always the better Reyes brother. Papa Reyes never could understand what made me glued to his eldest son.”
Before Y/N could blink, Angel rushed her, invading her personal space. Her breath quickened as she quietly huffed. Angel’s hand was clasped securely along her jawline forcing her to see him, to feel his all-consuming, unbridled rage before he leaned in even closer. The hair on her neck stood up sickeningly straight as he spoke into the shell of her ear.
“When I was balls deep in Adelita, there wasn’t a moment where I even considered how you’d feel. I was blinded and betrayed by lust. You think my baby bro would want my sloppy seconds?” His malicious tone oozed with venom scaring Y/N into suspended submission. Down the road Y/N heard the tall-tale rumble of a engine cruising towards her house.
“I just wanted you to know, Angel. No matter how much I hate you, this is our child and I won’t deny you your basic rights. Trust me, I don’t expect anything from you…not at this point. Hopefully one day soon you wake the fuck up and see that I’m not the goddamn enemy. Now get the fuck out of my house.”
The wood frame rumbled as a strong fist met Y/N’s yellow front door breaking the already shattered tension. The moment was spoiled as Angel walked towards the foyer. He fingers connected with the chilled knob, twisting until success. He was met with rich, hazel eyes gleaming back at him. Fucking Ezekiel.
“Vigila tu espalda hermanito.”
Y/N appeared in Ez’s line of sight deciding to stay quiet in the background. Curiosity and awkwardness engulfed the threesome.
Ezekiel wasn’t going to back down. He finally had his chance and he would be damned to maintain his silence.
“The best man has already won.” With that, Ez clapped Angel’s rigid shoulder before moving to greet Y/N. He didn’t dare glance back no longer caring about what his brother thought and proceeded to close her front door.
“You sure do have perfect timing Mr. Reyes. I think you pissed him off.”
His chuckle aerated the room bringing a warmness to the peak of her slender neck. His muscular arms found her waist pulling her close into his chest for an embracive hug.
“Don’t shoot me. I just came for the hot meal…and enticing company.”
It was good to hear her laugh, and not just any plain laugh, but one buried within the borders of your chest that vibrated the room. His nerves soon calming as he dared a look in Y/N’s direction. She smiled sweetly, sincerely happy to be in his presence. All her life, she had learned that passion, like fire, was a dangerous force to reckon with. For it so easily spun out of control.

Hey Darling! Just wondering if you could do me the absolute honor of writing me a oneshot/drabble about original!klaroline and how all the mikaelsons have a special bond with her and see her as family.. want to see how the family see how important she is in not only Klaus life but all of them.. Bonus points if Caroline calls him Nik/Niklaus.💗💗 Will love u forever!💗
Hello! I am combing this request with this one: Hey! Dont know if you’re still taking drabbles request for mothers day! But I would love an Original!Caroline where all Mikaelsons protect her and see her as family. I love the idea that her and Kol would be bestfriends.
Both are from anonymous people:
Drabble number six: Based in the universe of my story “If I Die Before I Wake”. You can read that first on A03 or this can be a stand alone read.
Rebekah
“Does this dress make me look fat?” Rebekah asked, admiring herself in the mirror of the small boutique that she dragged Caroline to. Ever since Caroline was awoken from her magical sleep, Rebekah rarely had time to spend time with her sister-in-law; Nik taking up all of her time. That and Stefan finally made a decision between Rebekah and Elena, Rebekah being his final choice. She needed her best friend to help her choose a dress that would knock Stefan off his feet.
“I like the green one better. It brings out your eyes.” Caroline replied, circling Rebekah and gazing at her with a critical eye; trying to find a hint of fault, because if Rebekah was going to have a happy ending, there could not be one. She had hoped that Marcel would be Rebekah’s happy ending but if this Stefan was the man she chose, then Caroline was going to do her best to make Rebekah look drop dead gorgeous.
“Do you not think it is a bit short?”
“Apparently that is what women wear in this century.”
“Scandalous.” Rebekah tossed is a salacious tone. Caroline chuckled, resting her head against Rebekah’s shoulder; looking at their reflection in the mirror. Rebekah raised her hand to grasp Caroline’s. “I’m so happy you’re home with us. Nik was a nightmare without you beside him, but we all were so lost. You really are the heart of this family.”
“I promised Nik that I would never leave him again.” Caroline whispered. “That I would never leave any of you again.”
Kol
“Darling!” Kol’s loud voice echoed through the manor and Caroline could not help but roll her eyes as she poured herself a cup of hot tea. Kol was always mischievous, even as a human. However, whenever he wanted something, Caroline found that he could be very sweet and persuasive with his words. Yet, Caroline was one of the few women who Kol was not related to by blood that did not fall for it. “Nik told me that you gave a little witch your number, with the promise of a favor.”
“I provided Bonnie with my number, yes.” Caroline replied with narrowed eyes. Kol shot her a look with his puppy dog eyes that had covens of witches bending to his will. Caroline tossed him a humorless laugh and shook her head. “No. Absolutely not.”
“Come now. I think she likes me.”
“From what Freya as stated, I think Bonnie has higher standards that you could not possibly live up to.”
“Ouch. That hurt.” Kol pressed a hand to his heart, pretending to be wounded by her words. Caroline did not buy it. “I think that I have grown on her. She asked all sorts of magical questions that I was more than happy to answer. I think there are more delicious things that I could teach her. Hey! Where are you going?”
“Away from you.” Caroline chuckled and left the kitchen; hearing Kol’s laughter behind her. “I’ll think about speaking to Bonnie the next time I see her, but I make no promises.”
“Missed you too Caroline.”
Elijah
“Elijah, I need a favor.” Caroline stated, strolling into the home office he made for himself. She did not knock but she never did. Elijah always felt like the older brother she never had and secretly wanted. She once confided him Elijah a secret that the only other person who knew was Nik. Elijah never spoke about the child she lost when they were turned, and it bonded them in a way that neither expected.
“Yes, Caroline?”
“Nadia. I need to track her down.” Caroline replied, dropping onto one of the leather chairs that was stationed behind his big oak desk. She crossed her feet at her ankles and perched there elegantly while Elijah peered at her over his paperwork about the Mikaelson family finances. “Hopefully she is still alive. I kind of want to rip her heart out in front of Katerina. Although, I might just lock them in the tomb for a few years together to bond first.”
“You want to use Nadia to torture Katerina?” Elijah sighed and stood from his desk, walking around it before perching on the front of it. “I understand your desire to seek revenge, but Nadia had nothing to do with Katerina’s actions. Katerina did not even know that Nadia was still alive.”
“I turned Nadia for the sole purpose of using her as leverage one day.” Caroline replied in a simple tone. She eyed Elijah curiously, her eyes narrowing. “Oh no. Please do not tell me you’re still in love with her? Isn’t there someone out there that is not a doppelganger that you can fall in love with? They never treated you like you deserve. Either one of them.” Elijah looked at her in contemplation for a few moments before nodding in agreement. Caroline stood quickly and kissed him on his cheek. “Thank you!”
“Give me a week. I’ll have her found. That will give you time to plan exactly how you want to torture her.” Caroline smiled brightly and for a moment, Elijah thought that the room seemed just a bit brighter. She turned to leave the office until Elijah called after her. “Caroline. I stopped loving Katerina the day she took you from us.”
The smile that Caroline shot Elijah was wide and beaming.
Finn
Caroline was sitting outside the Mystic Grill, waiting for Bonnie to meet her, when her mobile phone rang; showing an unknown number. Cellphones were still a new concept to Caroline, having been in a magical coma when they were invented. Biting her lip, Caroline picked up the device and pressed it to her ear.
“Hello?”
“Caroline?” A voice she had not heard in over nine-hundred years sounded on the other end. She paused thinking about the last time she heard that voice. It had been in Italy; the night before the Five daggered them all and Nik went into a murderous rage. Nik spent fifty years tormented by hallucinations and pulling the dagger out of the eldest Mikaelson brother never occurred to them.
“Finn?”
“I wasn’t sure if you would answer. These devices are a marvel.” Finn chuckled and Caroline was flabbergasted at the sound. As far as she could remember, Finn never laughed for as long as she had known him. “I found Sage and she helped me contact Freya. She told me that you’re awake and I wanted to hear your voice for myself.” Caroline’s eyes were wide, and she was about to respond but Finn pressed on. “I was hoping that you would do something for me.”
“Um. Sure?” Caroline’s voice was high pitched, completely unsure where this was going. Finn and Caroline had never been close. Even when they were human and she had married Nik, Finn was nothing more than Nik’s brother who sometimes ate meals with them. “What is it?”
“Sage and I are going to travel for a while. I do not think I will be seeing my siblings for a long time. Nine hundred years is a long time to have a dagger in my chest. I could hear them, when they were near, but they never pulled the dagger out.”
“Neither did I.” Caroline replied. “If anyone could have done it and not faced Nik’s wrath, it would have been me. I could have begged him to pull it out and he would have for the simple fact that I requested it; but not once did I ask him to do it.”
“True.” Finn answered her. “But you and I never really considered each other family. It wasn’t your place.” Caroline thought on Finn’s words and he was correct on that account. “All I need from you is to care for them and maybe on occasion, let me know how they are. I’m angry at them and will be for a long time, but that does not mean I do not care.”
“Just a phone call every now and then?” Caroline asked and Finn confirmed her assumption. She thought on it and for all intense of purposes, it was an easy thing he was asking. “I’ll save your number. I call every decade or so.” Caroline heard a soft breath on the other line. “Give Sage my love. I did like her.”
“You’re the only one who ever did.”
Freya
“There are moments when I see you practicing magic and it reminds me of Esther.” Caroline muttered one day as she watched Freya preform a spell in the middle of a circle made of salt and candles. Freya narrowed her eyes at Caroline. “Just saying. I’ve seen Esther preform magic a good bit when we were human and the two of you are kind of similar.”
“That is not a compliment.” Freya replied with steel eyes. Caroline went out of her way to get to know Freya, even though the unexpected Mikaelson sibling had a hard exterior. It took Caroline getting Freya incredibly drunk one night one red wine that she was able to really get to know her. Since then they had a friendship that centered around insults that neither one of the women meant.
“Just being honest.”
“You know, when I spent over a century helping Nik break the sleeping curse, I never expected you to be so annoying.” Freya bit back but her tone lacked bit. Caroline laughed, tossing her blonde hair back. “You know, the way he spoke, one would have thought you hung the sun or something.”
“Maybe I did.” Caroline could see the hint of a smile creeping onto Freya’s lips. She walked over to the salt circle and looked down at Freya who was sitting in the middle of it; legs crossed. “I came in here because I realized that I never properly thank you.” Freya looked at her confused. “For helping Nik. Keeping him sane. Or, at least as sane as you could have. I know it could not have been easy. He can be a bit testy at times.”
“At times? He is like a bloodthirsty toddler on a good day.” Caroline snorted at the accurate description of her husband. “But he is family. I wanted a family for so long that I wasn’t going to turn them away, especially when they needed help. Although, it was Kol who broke me out of that conclave in the Vatican so you really should be thanking him.”
“Oh, I will.” Caroline replied, thinking about Bonnie.
“And I meant what I said about family. We are all a part of this family. At least to me.” Freya added, shifting uncomfortably; getting far too close to real feelings for her liking. “Even annoying blonde vampires who have a tendency to fall victims to sleeping curses.”
“Hey! I’m not the only blonde in this family who was under a sleeping curse!” Caroline all but yelled in indication. Freya laughed lightly and shook her head. “But thank you for the sentiment. I appreciate it. And I feel the same about you. You’re my new sister. Warts and all.”
“Rude.” Freya said simply. “Now get out. I have a spell to do.”
Nik
Caroline laid across the king-sized bed, her head tossed back, eyes closed and mouth half open. Her legs were spread wide and Nik’s tongue worked between them. Her hips were being held down by his hands while Caroline’s fingers gripped at Nik’s blonde curls. She bit her; whimpering as her back arched and she came against his tongue.
“Nik!” She called his name as spasms overtook her body. Nik kissed up her body as she came down from her high. His teeth nipped at her nipples and his lips sucked at her collarbone. He settled between her legs while Caroline wrapped them around his waist. She brought his lips to hers, tasting her juices on his tongue.
“I love you.” Nik breathed as they broke apart. He rested his forehead against hers. “I cannot get enough of you. I went almost a century and a half without you. It was too long to be apart. There are so many things I wished to show you. Paris, it has changed since we were last there. You would love it.”
“Then take me there.” Caroline whimpered as Nik’s penis brushed against her clit. “Please Nik. I need you.” Not being able to deny her any longer, Nik slid into Caroline’s heat; groaning at the sensation. Ever since the moment he gave into her demands to have him after she awoke from her magically induced coma, Nik had not been able to keep his hands off of her. He was constantly touching her, holding her, feeling her and loving her. Caroline knew that it was a mixture of his love and desire for her but also reassurance that she was still with him. “Yes! Nik!”
His movements where slow as he gazed down into her eyes face; drinking in each expression. He kissed her eyelids as they fluttered shut or nipped at her neck when she tilted her head back. He pressed their foreheads together as he rolled his hips; hitting that sensitive spot inside her that caused Caroline to grip at his shoulders. She dragged her nails down his back, causing him to bleed. She cried out his name has her orgasm hit and Nik drank in every ounce of her pleasure; unable to look away. His own release hit hard, and he spilled himself inside her.
Once their breathing calmed down, Nik rolled off of her and laid on his back. He grasped her hand, refusing to let go of it. Caroline moved over, resting her head against his chest and closed her eyes. She listened to his heartbeat and felt Nik kiss the top of her head.
“I can’t lose you. Not again.” He whispered into her blonde locks. Her return was fresh and new; only a few weeks old. She knew that it would take a while for Nik to be able to squash that fear of her being taken from him. It was why he held her tighter, loved her gentler and looked at her as though she hung the moon for him.
“You won’t. I’m not leaving. Ever.”

Zawe Ashton is sorry that she is tired. In her dressing room at Manhattan's Jacobs Theatre, at what would be the end of a working day for many, she still has to go over last night’s notes with her director Jamie Lloyd, and get into hair and make-up. Within hours, she will hit the stage for another sold-out night of her Broadway run in Betrayal, the Harold Pinter revival, which will make her a New Yorker until the end of the year.
“I feel like I'm going mad, but I think I'm really into New York. [When I speak], I can already hear my American upward inflections!” she giggles. The play, which also stars Charlie Cox and Tom Hiddleston, has come to New York after a sold-out turn in London in a year that has cemented 35-year-old Ashton's transition from emerging ingenue to bonafide leading lady. In person, she's warm, wickedly funny, and whip-smart — a combination that goes some way to explaining how she's built a career not just in front of the camera, but as a writer, director, playwright, too. Just don't call her an overnight success — it's been nearly 30 years in the making.
Ashton was born and raised in Hackney, a culturally diverse part of East London at the forefront of the city's gentrification. "Cut me open, and I do bleed Hackney," Ashton says. “I remember when cab drivers wouldn’t even go there but for me, there was just local people establishing community and establishing identity. It was multiculturalism, it was biracial, it was anarchy.”
She grew up the eldest child of an Ugandan mother and English father. She describes her younger self as a hyper child. “I just wanted constant stimulation.” Her mother, busy with three kids, enrolled Ashton in the Anna Scher Theatre, an affordable drama class, whose notable alumni ranges from Hollywood crossovers Daniel Kaluuya and Kathy Burke, to Eastenders favourites Sid Owen, Patsy Palmer, and Natalie Cassidy.
“I went in, and there were like three or four baskets on a tiny little stage. One said wigs, one said hats, one said costumes, and I thought to myself, 'I’m going to love this.'" Ashton went on to spend 14 years with the company. "Every Friday night and every Saturday afternoon for 14 years! I think back now, what a disciplined young person that I was. I think I’ve always needed something like that to keep me anchored.”
Small roles in Game On and The Demon Headmaster followed, along with appearances in British staples like The Bill, Casualty, and Holby City, but her success led to bullying at her north London school. “I was different from others at a time when you're supposed to just be blending into that wall,” she says. If there's one thing that's clear, it's that Ashton doesn't do blending in. "I never understood this thing of finding yourself or finding the truth — I couldn’t give a sh*t about the truth," she says.
Earlier this year, she released Character Breakdown, a book about her experiences as actor and the challenge of darting between make-believe and everyday life. "I've never bought into the idea that there is this one self," she says. "I started acting as a 6-year-old child, when my brain was still extremely fragile. I didn’t have hope in hell if I didn’t want to have fractured selves — that moment was over by the time I’d finished my first day on a film set."
Ashton's breakout role didn't come until years after that first day. In 2011, when she was 27, she debuted her role as the hilarious and sensational Vod in Channel 4's now cult classic, Fresh Meat. “When I got it, I had just done an independent movie called Dreams Of A Life,” she recalls. “That was a one-two punch. I had my independent film world covered and I suddenly had this cult TV world covered, and that was it. My head was above the parapet, and things have just been on the up since then."
Like many actors of her generation, she's only down with the "up" when it's about the work. "I’ve never been bothered about fame," she says. "Even when I was at Anna Scher Theatre, you were never allowed to use the words 'star' or 'fame,' they were like swear words. I want to be a successful actor, never a famous star. Because one is an organic meal that will sustain you, and the other is toxic.”
That does complicate things, because whether she's conscious of it or not, Ashton is a star. Her most recent work has seen her share the screen with Toni Collette in the BBC drama Wanderlust, about a therapist trying to save her fraught relationship with her husband,  played by Steven Mackintosh. She also had a lead role in Netflix’s Velvet Buzzsaw, a quirky thriller set in the contemporary art world where she plays Josephina, the object of affection, alongside an idiosyncratic art critic called Morf, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Her wattage is rising, and unsurprisingly, the designers have come calling. Erdem, Mulberry, Regina Pyo, and Roksanda Illincic all want to dress her, but as Ashton discloses, the style part doesn't always come naturally.
“People talk about ‘effortless style’ but effortless is so far away from any of my experiences of that sort of thing." She now works with stylist, art director, and brand consultant Steph Wilson for her big appearances. "She's not a celebrity stylist, which seems to be a very different breed of person," Ashton explains, "but my stylist is a big reason I am able to cope with events." Their first collaboration — a voluminous, tiered Stella McCartney gown that Ashton wore on the 2016 Olivier's Red Carpet — set the tone in their relationship. "We affectionately called [it] the lampshade dress," Ashton recalls. "It was a complete risk, and a risk that I'd been told again and again and again not to take. 'Don’t go there, you're not well known, you're not famous, unless you’re famous you shouldn’t wear things like this.' I just said, 'I want to dress like the artist I feel,' and that was that."
Ashton might sound assertive, but she swears she is only now coming into her own. “How long have we got to talk about women of colour and imposter syndrome,” Ashton asks, now in her hair and make-up prep. “It’s a real thing, and many people have it. It’s, I think, a particular characteristic of the overachiever. Because you're bottomless, you never think what you’ve achieved is enough. There are lots of little dots, as I approach my 30th year as an actor, that I'm sort of really looking to connect so I can move on to the next stage of my life.”
Part of that next stage is taking up more space. "When you work in film sets, when you’re working on projects that are male dominated, you are always treated as the last priority," she says carefully. "There have been times when, like in sex scenes or whatever, I’ve just been expected to get on with it. No conversation, no time wasting, you're just supposed to minimise your space, and let the money-making industry crack on because time is money." Not any more. "I'm going to call abuse when it’s abuse, and I'm going to call micro-aggression when it’s micro-aggression," she says of on-set behaviour she once might have let slide.
In October, in both Hackney and New York, she will stage For All The Women Who Thought They Were Mad, a play she wrote some 10 years ago when she part of the Royal Court Young Writers group. The play uses statistics to platform the cultural biases at work in medical institutions in Britain that are specifically stacked against women from the African diaspora. “Women being over medicated, unnecessarily being sectioned into their families, losing their jobs. It’s all really shocking, so I wanted to write something for all the women I’ve known [who] thought they were alone. It’s taken so long to get off the ground because it was considered an exposé by every theatrical institution in London, and [I'm] so glad we are doing it," she adds. "A lot of women for a long time have been told to find their voices, but I don’t agree. We have voices. We just need a platform. And we need the words."
One word Ashton is thinking about a lot these days is "motherhood." “I would like to have a baby,” she says slowly. "I’ve never said that before, but women never say it." Despite various rumours about her love life, she emphasises that the baby is a goal, not a current reality. "It's not in the works, and it's not being planned," she says. "There's absolutely not one single detail that I can mention, but the next thing on my agenda is building towards that stage, and I feel very proud of that."
Ashton is aware that the path in that direction will be unreasonably complicated. "The widespread shame of motherhood is criminal, and it needs to stop," she says. "The world can never improve if you disrespect the people that bring life." Still, Ashton is rolling up her sleeves. "I feel like this career has so many connections to my childhood desires, and now I want to figure out what my adult ones are.”

FFxivWrite 2019 Prompt 10: Foster
As was something of a tradition with family dinner running all the back to when his children were all still actually children, Abylnpfef sweeps through the main room of his restaurant with the last dish being brought to the table and pulls back the lid with an overdone flourish. It was a stew they'd all had countless times, but playing into being a bit silly always made at least him happy, even if most of his daughters and a few of his grandchildren groaned at the shameless display of 'Dad'. He detours long enough to press a kiss to his wife's brow before taking a seat at the head of the table. All three daughters were in town and free, and that was a rare enough event for him to close up the place early and have a night just to the family. The spouses were all otherwise occupied, but if the man was being truly honest it didn't greatly bother him that particular night.
As the clink of ladles into pots of stew and then on into bowls started to ring out as mothers saw to putting enough food in front of their children to get at least a few minutes without another 'but why?' question, the Sea Wolf's eldest daughter and newest grand kid were a few paces away as she tried to appease the tiny boy. Alvin was riding the line right between sleep and crying because too much he didn't like was going on, held at bay only by gentle bouncing and cooing promises of high flying adventure someday in his future. By the time the rest of the family had calmed down enough to let him finally settle on being sleepy, most of the bowls were half empty and Brem's own was threatening to start to chill. As the pale woman sat back down, a breath weighed with equal parts relief and exhaustion falls from her. "I know he's not even two moons old yet, but some days it feels like it's been a hundred years already."
The statement's met immediately with a derisive snort from across the table, quickly paired with a sneer from the middle child sat next to her own boy and girl, the eldest of the grandkids. "You think -you're- tired? You've barely even started this, AND you have two other women helping you full time for ONE kid." Mytethota's tirade was paused by one of the only forces capable of doing so, sending another mouthful of red wine down her gullet. "One that you didn't even carry or have to go through labor with, I might add. Come cry about being tired when you're getting your nipples gnawed on while the next one's ready to pop out and their father's busy keeping a roof over your collective heads."
"Forgive me, little sister. I hadn't possibly considered that someone could maybe be -more- tired. I'm glad you were here to remind me so suddenly all this fatigue will fly right out of me that I must have been making up this whole time." There's a dramatic flick of her gloved hand in the air as a heavy lidded natural eye turns to the younger Sea Wolf. "It must be the three different ways I bring my money home that doesn't leave me time for both childcare AND considering how much harder it would be if I had to spend half my day marinating myself in mediocre wine so that new flavors of insufferable bitch could rise to the surface."
"Girls, that'll be enough of all that. We're here to enjoy a night with our family, so pour another helping and start enjoying." The patron of the family let his voice fall somewhere between an actual chiding and 'girls will be girls' to try and keep things light with a few notes of parental threat. It'd worked wonders for him a few decades ago when they were still growing up, but there admittedly wasn't nearly as much testing for it as adults. The snarling expressions of his two oldest weren't making him overly hopeful.
Mytethota gave a lazy toss of her hand as if she was discarding the argument like a used napkin, even while mulling over how to toss another barb out. It was her favorite tactic with her husband, and one of the few ways she kept a hold snared on him. "I'm just thankful you don't bring the little.. lizard kitten thing here while the business is actually open. It's bad enough I still get questions about how my man-dyke big sister is doing these days.." At that moment the old man at the head of the table almost felt like he was watching an explosion happen in slow motion, unable to get his head on fast enough to do anything to stop it. ".. imagine if I had to explain to them 'Oh, she has this foster kid she's raising for her two miqo'te girlfriends and pretending it's her's like some sort of female cuckold.'"
"Myteth-" Harsh fatherly scolding was swiftly put on hold as Abylnpfef caught a pale blur of motion, his eldest girl taking things immediately into her own hands as she was oft want to do. A leather bound hand snatched up a handful of wavy green strands with the sort of roar she normally reserved for the arena. The whole family of Sea Wolves watched in silent shock as the yelping frame of the middle daughter was yanked up from her seat, half way over the table they were sat at. Drug a few fulms by that hold in her hair, Brem got her younger sister parked over a half-empty pot of stew and let her linger just a heartbeat or two long enough to realize what was coming before slamming her hard down into the remnants of the meal. Her heavily made-up face when straight into the thick mess while the edge of the pot drove hard up into the woman's throat, enough to leave her without breath temporarily. The yank back up and out flung some of the mess out over the table before the pale woman throws Myte backwards hard enough to send her reeling over her seat and crashing to the floor.
"BREMWYDA!" Abylnpfef's outraged voice jumps over the absolute chaos that just broke out, standing above worried matrons and screaming children that just watched their mother and/or aunt just get stew-bombed by a family member. "What in the Navigator's name is wrong with you! Doing that to your sister!"
Whipping her attention around to her father now, a finger jabs out his way with each word that comes flowing out of the mountain of enraged roegadyn. "What's wrong with ME? Did you hear that vile shit falling out of her fucking mouth? If she were anyone BUT my sister she'd be breathing out of a new fucking mouth right where that bruise is going to form!" Pushing away from the table, she moved over to claim the carrier that Alvin was in. The infant had swiftly flipped the switch back from sleep to 'things are loud and angry and I don't like it' and was adding his wail to the symphony in the room. "The next gods-damned thing I hear out of her better be an apology to me, my boy, and my girls and some GROVELING for forgiveness! Until that happens, neither me, nor your grandson are sharing a table where that ingrown cunt hair of a person is welcome!"

The Good Counselor - Chapter 1
Free previews published weekly every Wednesday night at Midnight, Pacific Standard Time.
Tumblr media
Seventy years have passed since Elysion was created, and Persephone’s efforts to conceive a child with Hades have been in vain.  But a secret rite on Samothrace might bend the Fates and give them all that they have ever dreamed of, or pave a path of untold suffering.
Chapter 1
The water was calm, clear and infused with the scent of ash. He knelt down and washed his arms, his legs and torso. It was cold and purifying. He rubbed olive oil across his skin, banishing all miasma from his person.
Orpheus scraped the excess oil off with a metal strigil and dried himself in the sunlight, tussling his short brown hair to shake out the water. He donned his tunic and himation, both unadorned and undyed.
He closed his eyes, trying to escape the distraction of his surroundings, listening. A songbird in the oak tree warbled its tune and he hummed along with it. A song to the Seasons had overtaken his thoughts for the last several days, but still the tune for the heart of the hymn eluded him. He had no instrument to produce a harmony— none, at least, that could do the immortals justice. He borrowed the bird’s notes, slowing them to match the words. “At play you are companions,” he sang softly.
“At play you are companions,” he muttered, repeating the line a few more times, smoothing out the melody while he paced. Orpheus stopped and sang it once again, a little more boldly, then raised the songbird’s tune by five tonic notes, “of holy Persephone, when the Fates—”
He stopped, a shiver rushing over his skin. Had he called upon Karpophoros disrespectfully? No, he thought. Ancient Eumolpus had told him that she was not offended by that name. And the priest knew her: he had walked beside her in his youth and founded the Lower Mysteries with her. Persephone’s rites. Orpheus shrugged off his fears. He wouldn’t be bound by superstition.
He wondered after the old man, whether he was well. It had been years.
“And the Graces in circling dances, come forth to the light,” he sang, then stopped. He felt it again. He was being watched. Orpheus turned to where he felt the presence of... something… a wild aurochs, a man? He sensed somehow that it was more than mortal, but satyrs and nymphs were a rare sight on Samothrace, and wouldn’t willingly approach a man.
Cold seeped into his skin again and a weight gathered in his chest. For all that he was attuned to his surroundings, it was unlike anything he’d experienced before. He wasn’t just being watched, but looked through, body and soul. The woods were silent, as though every creature knew to be still, and Orpheus wondered… He’d rid himself of miasma. He’d called upon a goddess with his song. She was here; she must be. The lump in his throat, the cold, a sense of dread and the fleeting thought of asphodel flowers… He quickly dropped to one knee and bowed his head. “Lady of the Flowers and Spring, Mistress of the Lands Beneath the Earth… If it is you… I am your humble servant.”
“It is not she.”
He raised his head, his breath shallow. The voice was male— calm and measured, and its owner invisible to him. “I beg your pardon.”
“No need. I know her well.”
He swallowed. “You do…”
“Is she the one you serve, hymnist?”
He drew in a breath. “I serve all the gods, my lord.”
“That’s quite a task… To curry favor with all the gods.”
“It isn’t favor I seek. I honor them, from the least to the greatest, since they are the highest expression of phanes, the light of life that dwells in all things. My only wish in this life is to displease none of them. For I might find myself parted from Elysion.”
“Ah,” said the voice. “You have gone through the Greater and Lesser Rites, no?”
“I have.”
“Who instructed you?”
“The great priest, Eumolpus.”
“I knew him,” said the voice, the tone changing.
“Knew?”
“Yes. He passed from this earth just before winter came. I was there when his family prepared him for the afterlife and took him to his mausoleum.”
“If I may be so bold to ask,” he said, fearing the answer, “who are you, my lord?”
“One who would not be known to you yet, hymnist.”
Orpheus bowed his head. “F-forgive my presumption.”
“Don’t fear me so. Stand, Orpheus.”
Orpheus cautiously rose, his knee damp from the mossy earth. “What shall I call you, my lord?”
The voice remained silent. But Orpheus could still feel his presence. He was thinking. He heard sandals pacing the ground, and if he listened closely enough, the rhythmic tap of a staff hitting the earth with every third step. “The God of Nysa.”
“Nysa…”
“You know of that place?”
“Only in legend. The fields and groves of the gods. The place where the Receiver of Many took Demeter’s Daughter from the sunlit world to be his Queen beneath the earth.”
“Indeed.”
He suspected enough from that, but wasn’t foolish enough to utter a name. This visitor had made his identity clear enough. Orpheus kept his eyes to the ground. “Then, God of Nysa, why, if I may I ask, did you seek me out?”
“I’ve heard stories of a ceremony that takes place here, on Samothrace. One that invokes a god that is not yet born. One that you are familiar with.”
He nodded. “It… It hasn’t been performed in years.”
“A rare thing, then. When in the year?”
“When the first seeds sprout from the earth, midway between Spring and the Solstice. There are few who are truly prepared to give what it requires.”
“And what is that?”
“Something that represents what you are and will be.”
“I understand. Would anything I could offer aide you now?”
“Not for the rite.”
“But you yearn for something nonetheless. Something only one of my kind can procure for you.”
“I live by ananke. My life is in the hands of the Moirai alone, so my desires are irrelevant.”
“You are the son of Apollo.”
“So my mother said…”
“She was right. You are not immortal yourself then, hemitheoi. Yet you abide by the laws which govern the deathless ones?”
“Aren’t we, all the manifestations of phanes, from the eldest Protogenoi to the lowliest mortal, bound by the will of the Fates?” He swore that he could sense the god smiling. He held his breath, unsure of what to make of the long pause.
“Perhaps.”
Orpheus stood still, and felt himself being gazed upon, a pull at his chest and behind his eyes, as though his thoughts and his heart were being weighed and measured and that nothing could be hidden. He heard footfalls.
“You sing. You honor the immortals with song.”
“Yes.”
“But all of them? Surely your work cannot be completed in your lifetime. There are too many of us.”
“I can try.”
“There is one thing that would help…”
“Gifts like that… come with a heavy price.”
“They do,” the voice said. Orpheus felt the same heavy pull, his very thoughts sifted and gleaned. “But you need a lyre, crafted by the gods, if all your works are to be finished in your lifetime. You desire to bring forth the songs from your heart, and it frustrates you to no end— because for now, they are trapped there. You wish to finish your earthly task, do you not?”
“I cannot ask for such a thing from… one I do not know.”
“Would you rather your life’s work go unfinished? Or that someone else completes it?”
“No.”
“I am willing to consider it your price.”
“For what?”
“For not revealing to your fellow priests or anyone involved in this… rite… that the ones who wish to participate in it are deathless.”
Orpheus said nothing.
“I know you despise lying, Orpheus. I can see it in your heart. I know what I ask for. But it is of great importance that this be only known to you. I would not ask you to betray your own ethos if it were not so very important.”
“Why seek me out? Is what I have to offer so extraordinary?”
“The god you call upon— the one not yet born…” Orpheus could feel the full weight of the god’s gaze upon him. “Name him.”
His heart beat out of his chest. “The Unborn One’s name is only uttered in absolute secrecy and sanctity. My order does not sully it with human speech.”
“Name him,” came the voice in a hoarse whisper.
Orpheus spoke just as low. “Zagreus.”
The god paused again and Orpheus wondered if he had angered him. But he could feel the enveloping coldness grow warmer, could feel a brief flicker of relief and… hope. Happiness, even. Through the wash of emotion, the voice remained staid. “What if I told you that your Zagreus could be conceived by these very rites? That is, if she and I were allowed to attend… unfettered by human fears and superstitions.”
“I would have no choice but to believe you, my lord.”
“Then you understand the reason for my surreptitiousness.”
He shuddered and nodded in acknowledgement. Now he was certain he knew who spoke to him. “My lord, can I think on it?”
“Of course. You have until the first moon of winter. I will return then.”
“When you return, how will I know it is you if I don’t even know your true name?”
“Because at that time, I will reveal how I know you, how you came to my attention, and when I do so, you will know precisely who I am.”
The presence lifted. As Orpheus looked up and puzzled over the god’s words, the birds started to sing again, the beetles hummed in the humid air. Everywhere he turned, narcissus bloomed in the shade of the trees.

not to be fake deep but let's talk about all your old walt babies that you haven't mentioned (because i love the hainline's okay and you and all your kids and i miss you
Send me an old muse and I’ll gush about them.
oKAY SIT DOWN AND BUCKLE UP, KIDDOS.
(I love you, too, sweet pea.  *smooch*)
Frank Hainline
Tumblr media
So Frank is a prick, to start off, but he’s my prick and you’re not allowed to trash talk him without my say so (which of course you have because he’s A PRICK).  He was the kind of kid who wore an anarchy symbol on his jacket but never actually did anything to represent or invoke anarchy.  He’s also a gigantic slut and can’t keep his pants zipped for longer than ten minutes.  Fidelity is not this man’s middle name (*CoUgH* illegitimate child he never knew about).  He definitely wasn’t ready to become a father when Victoria got pregnant (and more or less trapped him into marriage), but by the time baby Penelope came, he devoted every ounce of energy he could to making sure she had a good life, and the two of them actually grew very close.  He passed away from cancer when Penelope was about ten.
Norma Hainline
Tumblr media
Penelope’s eldest.  The two most important things you need to know about Norma are that she’s a dancer and she’s gay as a maypole.  Her main focuses are tap and ballet.  She loves old Hollywood - she got her start watching Singin’ in the Rain and Fred & Ginger films - but definitely prefers to live in the here and now where she can express herself both as an artist and as a lesbian.  The dance world, much as she loves it, is a crusty old institution that needs to break some pointless rules and get over itself.  She is also Grade A Mom Friend Extraordinaire™.  Her love language is definitely acts of service, particularly making sure you’re eating and sleeping well and taking your medicine on time (though turns out she’s a terrible patient herself).  Much to her frustration, her two closet friends - Noah and Nick - are both more or less bent on self destruction and driving her completely bonkers, but she loves them just the same.
Francis Hainline
Tumblr media
Francis, the third eldest, has no business being in this family with how shy he is, but nevertheless.  Definitely the black sheep of the family, but his siblings defend and support him with everything they have.  (Well, Kath usually does it with a lot of sarcasm, but you can tell she loves him.)  He’s a total hipster and has a special love for anything that was built before the year 2000.  His prize possession is an old camcorder that uses real VHS tapes, so naturally he becomes a film student.  I envision him growing up and working as a cinematographer and eventual director of poignant indie films and documentaries - stuff with lots of lingering, fly-on-the-wall shots.  Also, special shoutout to Seraphina, the love of his got dang life.  Those two gave me so many freaking cavities with their cuteness.
Kathleen Hainline
Tumblr media
So Kath is a mess, but that’s just par for the course in this family, I suppose.  She’s the baby of the family and has always felt like she’s living in her sister Norma’s shadow.  She’s a bit of a wild child, but certainly not to the extent Victoria was.  It’s all just a cry for attention, trust me.  She wants to feel needed, she wants to feel wanted, she wants to feel special.  And anything that takes the attention of the people she loves off of her needs to die, plain and simple.  She’s best friends with Daisy and is technically endgame with Jonas (though we really didn’t get to write them that far), so here goes a prayer candle for my lovely Becca.
Dory Novak
Tumblr media
As you can probably guess by the name, Dory is based on that delightful blue tang we know and love.  In the Walt universe, she developed her short term memory loss after an accident that killed her parents, and was adopted by Marlin.  She loves swimming and her family and especially anything combining the two.  She’s a freaking sweetheart who is actually pretty hard on herself, and it was so heartbreaking to play her in any kind of stressful situation because five minutes later she would still be freaked out by have no idea as to why (looking at you, Scream event).  Also, Scooby liked her a lot and I felt so freaking blessed???  She ends up becoming a social worker and helping kids in the foster system like her.
Charlie Harper & Jenny Harper née Parkington
I never got to properly play Dory’s parents, but here’s the fast and skinny on them.  Jenny was a shy bookworm who never thought boys would be interested in her and (for the most part) had made peace with that theory.  Charlie was a jock who was head over heels for Jenny but never knew how to communicate it without being a sleaze.  Eventually, he manages to ask her out, she says yes, and they pretty much become attached at the hip.  She comes to his basketball games and swim meets decked out in the school colors and cheering like a maniac.  My guess is Dory came a little earlier than they were expecting, but not so early that it would be considered scandalous - probably when they were almost finished with college or something.  Dory became their world and they spoiled that little girl beyond belief.  Unfortunately, both of them were killed in a car wreck when Dory was very little.
Marlene Novak
Tumblr media
Dory’s first kid, adopted.  To sum it up nicely, Marlene’s a hot mess because she was never able to come to terms with the fact that her birth mother didn’t want her.  I tried to start this whole plot where she ran into her birth mother just out in the wild and that made her get even messier, but I think I was just throwing crap on the fire to see what blew up at that point.  She also has a…flirtatious arrangement, shall we say, with her friend Viv.
Lyle Novak
Tumblr media
Dory’s second kid, also adopted.  *sigh*  Lyle, Lyle, Lyle…  He’s a cutie, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like I didn’t give his character enough punch?  He just seems kind of blah now that I look back at him.  I have a history of being super self conscious about my male characters if they don’t have like a Super Archetype personality for some freaking reason, and Lyle is definitely an example of that.  He’s a little shy, but not so shy that it’s endearing, and he’s also a little courageous, but not so courageous that he actually gets crap done.  He’s a little complacent, looking back on him, which is kind of the opposite of how I wanted to play him...?  I dunno.  Maybe I’m being too harsh on myself.  HE’S CUTE.  LIFE GOES ON.
Cinderella Tremaine
Tumblr media
To the surprise of absolutely no one, I’ve actually played a Cinderella counterpart in a few different groups, but let’s just talk about how I portrayed her at Walt.  French transfer student in America (I changed her to straight up American after a point) who loves animals arguably more than life itself and tries her best not to cry over things she can’t control.  She’s also daydreamy as FRICK.  Loves to get lost in her own imagination.  If she’s not engaged in conversation or work of some kind, I can guarantee you her conscience isn’t even on this plane.  Also, can I just shriek about the superhero AU version of her where she was a counterpart to Zatanna and literally became her own fairy godmother?  Because I think about that far more than is probably healthy.
Emmett Tremaine & Johanna Tremaine née Cartier
Same thing as Dory’s parents, just gonna give you a quick lowdown.  Johanna came from a fairly well off family in France (distantly related to those guys, but far enough away that it doesn’t really count), but her parents thought she was an absolute embarrassment.  She was never afraid to speak her mind when it came to things like etiquette and politics, and she had a fabulously wild imagination.  She never stopped believing in fairies, ghosts, gremlins, things like that.  Emmett was that quiet nerd dreamer type, very much obsessed with travel and history.  And like I need to spell it out for you, but they were LUDICROUSLY in love with each other.  Like, nauseatingly so.
Robby Tremaine
Tumblr media
Robby is Cindy’s son I whipped up real quick one next gen when I was going crazy and wanted to snatch Nick Robinson’s beautiful face.  He’s a hardcore farm boy who doesn’t mind a little mud behind his ears and super environmentally conscious.  Not just recycling and veganism and all that, but he will go off on you about sustainable farming and animal raising, and how the hydrogen fuel cell is the way of the future.
Taige Bailey
Tumblr media
Based on Terk from Tarzan, Taige is a super jock, total butch lesbian, and altogether DUMBNUT.  Like, GOD she’s so stupid sometimes because she just barrels into crap with reckless abandon and doesn’t think things through.  Dear God, she will PUNCH you if you so much as look at her funny, just ‘cause she feels bored.  And she walks around like she’s God’s gift to creation, but she’s just a little twerp.  But she’s my twerp.  (Huh.  I’m just now realizing how similar Taige and Pen are.  In a weird way, Taige is like the tomboy version of Pen.)  Here, you can imagine me lighting a prayer candle because I never got to play her against her two best friends and I’m SAD.  Y’ALL NEVER GOT TO EXPERIENCE THE TOUR DE FORCE THAT IS T CUBED.  Also *cough* she and Vitani may have had a *coUGH* flirtationship.
I would also put Taige’s parents on this list, but they’re so hardly even developed that it’s not really worth mentioning them.  I only know their names: Lamarr and April.
Jared Bailey
Tumblr media
Taige’s only child, Jared’s still trying to figure out what masculinity means to him, what with being raised by two women and all.  He can get a little “dudebro alpha male” sometimes, but he’s also that kid you definitely want to have your back when things get rough.  He’ll help you with your homework, teach you how to shoot a three-pointer, and walk you home when it’s dark like the gentleman he is.

So I love when you rant and give detailed explanations about certain topics so: was Jason better off not being adopted by Bruce?
So, I’m not sure if you’re asking about any particular story line or alternate universe in which Jason is not adopted, and so I am going to answer under the assumption that you’re referring to headcanons floating around about the way things would have gone for Jay if he’d never been taken in as a Robin.
Furthermore, I’m going to answer this with absolutely zero self-pity. Do not mistake my relating low-income struggles that were present in my life as bellyaching. There were a lot of reasons why things were the way that they were for me, and I do not need an ounce of anybody’s pity.
So, without further ado, Anon, as somebody who was raised in an incredibly low-income environment with violence, drug abuse, and all other manner of illegal activity going on in my home through my childhood into adolescence: No.
Fuck. No.
Jason remaining in a dangerous environment, no matter how he thrived there, would not leave him in a state that I consider “better off.”
Simply through the lens of base needs, no fucking way.
Being from a home without resources was literally the worst part of all of that nonsense. At least, for me.
The emotional/physical abuse lingers, whatever. The drug and alcohol use was a wild ride to witness as an outside party, sure.
Not having hot water for a shower? Not having more than two pairs of pants that weren’t pajamas and no place to wash them? Not having a toothbrush or anything but cold canned carrots from the food pantry for supper?
Not having pads or tampons as a scared 12 year old girl who then has to bear the humiliation of my school nurse going out and buying them for me because everyone knew that my family was too poor and the government subsidies weren’t being spent on keeping our home livable and providing for our needs?
Yeah. No. Jason Peter Todd was a clever, gifted child who would do well in any environment. That doesn’t mean that squalor suited him better than an emotionally stunted man-child that did the motherfucking best he could to love him and give him everything that he could possibly need and then some.
Making Jason Robin and putting him in danger was like handing-over your keys to a car thief and accepting that you were gonna be calling your insurance the next day. Bruce didn’t have a lot of choices there. Jason already had a thirst. He already sought the thrill. The only thing Bruce thought to do was offer him proper skills, training, and equipment.
Along the way, he loved him. Grew alongside him as a person and a father-figure. He guided him to the best of his ability, and when that backfired?
It broke him too.
I was taken in by my eldest sister. Granted, she’s no Bruce Wayne and I didn’t oil myself up to slide into a neon crime-fighting get up. I did, however, provide so much childcare and support that I was the only person to cook, grocery shop, meal plan, or be allowed by the baby to bathe her and brush her hair by the time I was 16. My sister didn’t mean for me to take over so much domestic responsibility, it just happened that way.
I was a profoundly grateful people pleaser desperate to be somebody (anybody)’s favorite, and she had a husband who worked nights and so was basically functioning as a single mom with a houseful of 4 kids (plus me) to worry about.
And I hurt for the nervous disorders she fed by expecting me to provide as much or, in some cases, more care to her home and children than she did. The unhealthy dynamic we fell into left me an anxious mess with little to no self-value as a human being if I am not providing others some kind of measurable benefit.
Five years out of her house and I have to work on this mentality every day.
All the same, I got the opportunity to live in a home that was well-managed. I had clothes, food, showers and baths, school, and adults who were invested in my education and development.
Jason's situation is similar, in my opinion. He suffers for some of the damage done by Bruce. Ultimately though, he is better and more loved for having been his son.
Having the unique experience of being literally saved from a broken home (which Jason didn’t even fucking have. Poor baby was on his own) and lifted up into a household with actual disposable income, affection, education, and delicious produce regularly?
Jason Todd was the luckiest boy in the world.
The depictions of Bruce and Jay that have them being nothing but violent and hateful toward one another hurt my heart so much, I cannot even express with words the pain I associate with it.
I would like to note here that I do understand the abusive link between Bruce and a lot of his kids. Being idolized as a parent and literal hero sets you up for failure. Nobody can ever hope to live up to those kinds of expectations, and Bruce is all kinds of fucked up in his own right.
The physical abuse and resentment I understand from both sides, though it kills me.
One can see how Jason returning as a man who lived to spit in the face of everything he worked so hard to foster in him would push Bruce over the edge into more progressively abusive behavior, where before he had been emotionally neglectful and selfish as a parent. Blind, even, to the non-physical needs of Jason.
I 100% relate to Jason’s shock and horror upon being utterly disillusioned with his hero, the man acting as his father.
He failed to save him. He failed to avenge him. While he was alive, he failed to understand him.
What more can you do?
Jason gave it all.
He gave his life.
And he’s still not good enough for Bruce?
Fuck’s sake. I’d blow shit up and put heads in a bag too.
Damn.
Anyway, TLDR: Though the unhealthy/abusive aspects of the relationship between Jason and Bruce are brutal and heart-wrenching for all involved, I do not think that Jason would have been better left to his own devices. He was a child who needed a home with enough resources to care for him.
Bruce provided that.
Additionally, they love each other.
This, of course, is not an excuse for abuse.
Canon or headcanon, doesn’t matter: I argue that the love between Bruce and Jason was the first time Bruce truly felt a parental connection. Dick was like a younger brother. A nephew. A darling student. It wasn’t until he could contextualize his affection for Dick through the channels he developed toward Jason that Bruce realized the reason he could never see Dick as an equal companion was because he held him in his heart as a child.
His child.
Like Jason.
All families are fucked up. They hurt each other. They shape one another through pain as much as they do love.
I can’t handle the especially hateful and violent depictions of Bruce and Jason’s relationship. It literally kills me, and I actively disregard them as shittily written canon with no deep concept of characterization.
Same for Bruce and all of his other children.

Honest Q&A: Haruki
Tumblr media
((hOOOOOOly shit this took way longer than i thought it would, it’s been sitting in my drafts for HOW LONG now????... I think @gaillaffxiv tagged me? ...if not i did it anyway SO ENJOY IT IT’S LATE BUT IT’S HERE ENJOY INFO ABOUT ELOISE. also i’m putting it under the read more because WOW hugepost))
“What is your full name?”
“Eloise Severin.”
“What do your friends call you?”
“Eloise, or Severin. Only one person calls me anything else -- only one person can get away with calling me anything else.” She breathed a sigh through her nose. “And even then, it’s merely a shortening of my name.”
“Where were you born?”
Her answer was stiffly delivered. “I was born and raised in Ishgard, as was my mother and father before me.”
“Do you have any children?”
“Only one, whom was adopted. He was the son of a dear friend of Narua’s, and after his passing... seeing as his birth mother was in no shape to care for the boy, guess who’s been stuck with the brat ever since.” Her answer definitely carried tones of agitation, but if one were to look closely enough, they would be able to pick up a hint of fondness. Perhaps she didn’t dislike the situation as much as she’d led them to believe...
“Is there a person/people you love?”
“Of course. There’s several, though I can just hear the disbelieving whispers from here. Here’s a surprise: I am a bitch, but I’m not heartless.”
“What is your favorite colour?”
“I’ve always been partial to both white and red.”
“What is your full occupation?”
“I am both a physician and alchemist, though these days most seek me out in regards to alchemy.”
“Are you good at physical fighting?”
“Well, I consider myself at least adept at it. I didn’t survive all this time relying on others for protection, so I say that’s good enough.”
“What about magic?”
“I’ll have to admit that I’ve never been the one who meddled with it. That would be my brother and eldest sister, who clearly were the ones who ended up with that particular set of talents.” From the way she spoke, it was clear that subject was not one she enjoyed speaking about.
“Which type are you best at?”
“...We’ve just established that I am better at physical combat. Pay attention!”
“Craftsmanship?”
“If you don’t consider alchemy a craftsmanship I will strangle you right here, right now, legality be damned.”
“Any other skills?”
“Well, I am a physician. On the side of what I don’t get paid for, however... Cooking, botany, child-watching, keeping idiots in line.... keeping my wife in line...” She rolled her eyes, holding up a finger as she listed them off before crossing her arms with an unamaused expression. “Need I go on?”
“Are you an only child?”
She let out a harsh laugh, tossing her head back before shaking it. “If only! No, I am one of the middle children in a family of four other siblings. All of them are positively dull and demeaning to be around, I assure you, barring the youngest... though I cannot say she is much better to be around.”
“Where do you see yourself in five years?”
“Could be anywhere. Could be dead, could be alive, could be successful, could be struggling with the most horrendous of failures. Planning for the future is one thing, but I’m not a believer in dreaming about it, or trying to see myself somewhere. It’s a waste of time, but since you’re so insistent on taking up my time as it is... doing the same things I’ve always done: working.”
“Have you ever almost died?”
She snorted, glancing up off to the side. “A few times, yes. Are you going to be privy to those stories? Absolutely not. They’re none of your business.”
“Do you have a secret? Not just a secret, but a really big secret hardly anyone knows?”
“Tell me something, friend.” She asked, sickly sweet, intertwining her fingers together. “You understand what a secret is, yes? You do? Alright, now tell me this. What makes you think that I would admit to such a thing?! And to you, of all people?! What kind of moron are you?!”
“Salty or sweet?”
“Both.”
“Do you like yourself?”
“The short answer to that is ‘most of the time.’ I’m not about to wander down some deep, emotional hole with you of all people, so don’t get your hopes up.”
“Do you believe in the Twelve?”
“I, ah... let’s say I do, to an extent.”
“Are you religious?”
She seemed to hesitate before answering. “Yes, I suppose so, but... perhaps not as much as some would expect.”
“Do you carry prejudice with you?”
“I believe we all do to some degree. If you ask me, all we can do is do our best to account for it, and change our behavior and thought processes to minimize any damage it causes.”
“What do you consider entertainment?”
“You can find entertainment in almost anything if you try. Except for this. This isn’t entertaining. Hint hint?”
“Favorite drink?”
“I suppose mint lassi is alright...”
“Do you have any family traditions?”
She sighed. “You just don’t let up, do you? The answer is no, none that I can think of.”
“Are you a good person?”
“I am a woman of the belief that no person is strictly good, or strictly evil. People are people, and we all possess our own flaws. So to answer your question, no, I don’t think myself to be, and you shouldn’t either. Believing yourself to be in the right, and that you’re the moral person? That will lead to your downfall. Never assume that you’re the ‘good person.’ Chances are, the other person thinks the exact same.”
“Thank you for answering my questions!”
The woman breathed in deeply, closing her eyes. “You’re most welcome.” She’d managed through gritted teeth. “...now piss off already, I have work to do and I don’t have the time to waste with your frivolities!”

I snatched my children from Sun Myung Moon
Tumblr media
▲ Nansook Hong, 32, has found refuge with her five children (as seen in the photos on the table) in this house in New England.
Translated from French to English
________________________________________
Paris Match 2579    29 October 1998 pages 108-110
Interviewed by Romain Clergeat       Photos by Yann Gamblin
She thought she had married the son of God on earth. Instead, Nansook Hong tied her destiny, at the age of 15, with Reverend Moon’s eldest son, a violent, drunken, and drug addicted youth with whom she had five children. Now divorced, the young Korean woman evokes her ordeal in a book recounting her story. “In the Shadow of the Moons” is published by Editions1. She wrote it “to assure my protection,” she admitted to Paris Match. Nansook Hong reveals the hidden face of the Moon empire: the brutality of her husband, Hyo Jin Moon, the hypocrisy of her parents in-law, but also the reverend’s scheming, the diversion of money, the blindness of the faithful ...  It is a story of a dive into a Unification Church hell on earth.
From 15 to 29 years of age, Nansook Hong dedicated her life to the famous Reverend and married one of his sons. Now she straightens the record. For the Unification Church it is a shattering book.
Paris Match. Your departure from the Moon sect three years ago provoked the Reverend’s wrath. Things seem to have gradually calmed down. Why have you put fuel on the fire with this book?
Nansook Hong. When I left, I immediately thought about telling my story. I felt a kind of moral obligation towards those who were still in the organization. I would be happy if my experience could “enlighten” even one person. I spent a part of my life, from 15 to 29, in the Unification Church. For my mental equilibrium, I absolutely needed to make sense of what I had lived through. I also wrote this book for battered women and those who live in fear. I want to let them know that one can always get out of even the worst situations.
P.M. Your parents are members of the sect. In a sense they “gave” you to Reverend Moon to marry to Hyo Jin, his son. Do you feel bitter towards them about that?
N.H. No, not for a second. They had dedicated their lives to the Unification Church. For them it was an honor that their child had been chosen by Reverend Moon.
P.M. During the years of your marriage, did you talk with your parents about what you discovered each day in the sect?
N.H. I never told them that my husband was beating me. It would have “devastated” them. To endure, I very early on considered my marriage as a mission that I had been given by God. I could not complain. On the other hand, when I began to understand that Reverend Moon was not adhering to the principles he preached, I talked to my parents about it. But we felt stuck. For a while, I naively thought that I could change all that from the inside. That, of course, was an illusion. So I concentrated on educating my children; I wanted to raise them in a good way.
P.M. When did your husband, Hyo Jin, start drinking and taking cocaine?
N.H. He was doing that from the start of our marriage, when he was 19 years old. He was doing it in rebellion against his father. He felt immeasurable resentment against him. He blamed his father for not raising him.
Tumblr media
▲ The young Korean Nansook married Hyo Jin, Reverend Moon’s eldest son, in January 1982, at the age of 15. In the foreground, her divine in-laws.
P.M. Did you try to reason with him?
N.H. At the beginning, yes. But he quickly became addicted to coke. That said, the only times he spoke was when he took it ... but soon his words did not make sense. He had a very Asian concept of the role of women, and considered them to be subordinate, and certainly not meant to help him solve his problems. In the evenings when he was particularly angry, he said that it was all my fault ... Then he started to hit me, which seemed quite normal to him since his father boasted of doing the same thing with a female church member.
P.M. Do you think he would be capable of taking over the leadership from his father?
N.H. I heard it said that the Reverend Moon had designated his successor. It will be one of Hyo Jin’s brothers. When the Reverend disappears there will be a bloody battle.
P.M. Why did you wait fourteen years before leaving?
N.H. I have asked myself that for a long time. If I had been 20 years old at the time of my marriage, I do not think I would have stayed more than a year. I was 15 years old and I was very naive. As time passed things got more complicated, above all because of my children. Besides, I was very religious and Reverend Moon was the embodiment of the Chosen One. It took me a long time to break that image. It was a long and painful journey. When I decided to leave, at 29, it was, in a sense, totally unrealistic. I was the mother of five children, living in unbelievable luxury, and I was going to find myself living without any money and all alone. And a lot of people were going to hate me eternally.
Tumblr media
▲ It was already hell. In 1993, two years before fleeing, Nansook with Hyo Jin and four of their five children. Photographed at a Moon property in Irvington.
P.M. How long passed from the moment you decided to leave the Church to the day you actually did?
N.H. In January 1995 I felt that I had to leave. The beating sessions became more and more frequent and I knew that it would worsen, and that he would attack my children. I did not want to wait until it reached that extreme situation. It would have ended up with him killing all of us. I remember one evening watching my husband get dressed to go to a strip-tease club or to the bars. I had like a revelation: God authorized me to leave. Since I had deep faith, I needed this spiritual permission. It was a kind of grace. It was the best day of my life. I felt liberated. All the same it took me eight months to realize what I had felt so intensely.
P.M. How did you escape?
N.H. First of all I secured custody of my children. Without money and caught off guard, I could not fight against the financial power of the Moons. I consulted lawyers. I rented a house and, bit by bit, I took my things to a storage place. Fortunately, my husband, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, did not notice anything. Within the Church, no one thought that I would leave such a luxurious life. This was my chance.
P.M. Isn’t it surprising, despite suspicions, that no one, starting with the Moons, reacted?
N.H. It did happen. When I went to New York to see the lawyers, several people recognized me and then made their reports. Following that there were times when I was told off, but I repeat, no one thought that I would really leave.
P.M. Have you received any threats?
N.H. Of course. But I had taken care to obtain legal measures that forbade my husband to approach us by less than 50 meters. That did not stop him from hiring people to track me down. In the end they did find me. Fortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Moon prevented their son from doing something stupid. That said, again these days, people come around to the house, call us on the phone and scare my children. I still fear them – and even more so my husband who is a dangerous man. I was scared, but the publication of this book and the publicity surrounding it will give me some protection. At least, I hope so.
P.M. Did the Moons try to buy you?
N.H. Of course. They tried everything from threats to propositions. Mrs. Moon sent me tapes in which she spoke about a reconciliation. She sent people to visit my parents, and my friends. They also wanted to buy my silence when they realized that I would not come back. I’m glad they did not offer me a huge amount of money when I was weaker; I would have probably accepted.
P.M. Do you remember the first incident that made you understand that Reverend Moon was surely not the Messiah he claimed to be?
N.H. I understood that something was wrong when I realized that he thought he was God. It was a shock to me. He took himself to be the master of the universe. And these days how can a person conquer the world if not with money? He spoke as much about money as he did about God. But I do not know to what extent he has not gone mad, he has not convinced himself that he is really the all powerful Messiah.
NANSOOK HONG “Sometimes the Moons gave $1 million in cash to my husband. It was for him to “recycle” in the Korean businesses of New York.”
P.M. How does the collection of money work in the Church?
N.H. At first, to become a member, it was very simple: you had to give all your money. Today, it’s more fuzzy. Moon still always wants more members and has to “content” himself with substantial donations but not total ones. The main source of income for the Church comes from Japan which is the most flourishing branch of the Church. At regular intervals emissaries bring suitcases full of cash. The Japanese members are probably the most fanatical. They work until they are exhausted to fulfill the goals of the Church. In addition to the restaurants, hotels, and newspapers that Moon controls, the Church hides behind organizations such as The Women’s Federation for World Peace. Under the pretext of humanitarian work, they go knocking on the doors of the rich and extort incredible sums from them.
P.M. How does money laundering work?
N.H. Oh, it is very simple! The Moons sometimes gave $1 million in cash to their children, to the sons, who immediately make a trip to the family owned Korean restaurants in New York. It is a very easy way to recycle the money.
P.M. You say in your book that the true power of the sect is in fact held by Moon’s wife.
N.H. Reverend Moon had several extramarital affairs that he called “providential encounters, trials that God put on his path”. He and his wife had some sort of tacit agreement, a little bit like Hillary and Bill Clinton. Given power and a fortune, she closed her eyes. She is the mother of his thirteen children; she knows all his secrets. In traditional Asian societies, even if the man commands, in the shadows the woman is pulling the strings. If you had a favor to ask Reverend Moon, the best way to get it was to address his wife. Unfortunately for me, she never supported me. My husband beat me, but according to her I was one to blame. If I had lived up to my task, I should have changed him, she said. But how could I have transformed a violent manic-depressive when they themselves, who called themselves superior, had failed in their education of their own son? In their defense, my husband scared them. He is the only one in the family who answered back to his father.
P.M. Does Reverend Moon have illegitimate children inside the sect?
N.H. In the inner circle, it is known! But people are bound by the money and the desire to preserve their comfort.
P.M. You say Reverend Moon is able to give speeches to the members for fifteen hours. Does he use drugs to achieve such performances?
N.H. No, absolutely not. But these speeches are translated from Korean into English, which reduces his effective speaking time to seven hours; which is not bad.
P.M. What exactly does he talk about?
N.H. It’s a pretty incoherent jumble about God, family, purity and other nonsense ...
P.M. What are you living off these days?
N.H. Through my lawyers, I receive a pension from the Moons for the education of my children. That is my only source of income. I work at an association for battered women.
P.M. After being betrayed, do you now find it hard to trust your fellow men?
N.H. Not really. I find it hard believe the talk of religious people. In any case, I do not want to be under the control of anyone. ♦

3. Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out?
What does this mean...?
4. Have you stolen a street sign before?
Yes! Well, kind of. I found one on the side of the highway and gave it to a friend for his birthday. I also had a bunch in my backyard because my dad is a sign thief.
5. Do you like to use post-it notes?
I prefer digital notes. Post-Its are fun, though.
6. Do you cut out coupons but then never use them?
I just throw them away or let them expire.
7. Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of bees?
Are they definitely going to attack me? Because I know how to deal with bears and how to avoid being mauled by them. And also it’s really hard to get attacked by a swarm of bees. If it was wasps, however, I’d take my chances with the bear.
8. Do you have freckles?
A few!
9. Do you always smile for pictures?
With my teeth or...? I haven’t really perfected my photo face....
10. What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Plenty of times. I hate doing it, but I have.

California King! So much room.
18. What is your song of the week?
Tell Me I’m A Wreck by Every Avenue.
19. Is it OK for guys to wear pink?
Is this an actual question? It’s dumb as hell. You know what’s not okay for guys to wear? Fragile masculinity. Pink was originally a masculine color because it’s a shade of red and red is a ‘powerful’ color. Dresses were also deemed masculine in the early 1900s. Fuck gender roles, honestly.

35. Best thing to eat for breakfast?
Steak, eggs, french toast, hashbrowns, and grits.
36. What is your usual bedtime?
Anytime after midnight.
37. Are you lazy?

52. Do you think musicals are cheesy?
Usually. The only one I’ve ever found that executed it perfectly is Across The Universe. That’s some good shit right there.
53. Is Christmas stressful?
Only because I constantly have to remind people that tell me “remember the real reason we celebrate Christmas” that it’s a pagan holiday and not a Christian holiday. I do love shopping for and giving gifts, though. I’m really good at it.

Nope. Just try to eat my daily greens.
60. Do you wear slippers?
Nope! I hate wearing shoes, especially in my own house.

62. What do you wear to be comfortable?
Ethica underwear. Comfiest shit in the world.
63. What was your first concert?

I Am An Alpha Ch 3: I Can Do This, I Think...
“I can’t do this!” I groan as Jin drags me behind him through the forest. We spent most of the night figuring out where the black dragon’s home base is located and finding a quick path back to the camp so we, or I guess I mean they, can run back after. The land near the massive mansion reeks of them, not in a bad way it’s just so over whelming for me. I smell four wolves inside, three are unfamiliar and one is the wolf from yesterday. A small sigh of relief leaves my lips when I know the head alpha is not there, though that is a problem that Jin quickly realizes.
“The head alpha is out,” Jin informs the group, stopping us just behind the last row of trees that separate the forest from their main property.  There is a green house on one side of the mansion, I can smell flowers and fruits and vegetables. Even with the massive windows on the back of the house I can’t see a single person inside but I know they are here. “They know we’re here.”
“How can you tell?” Tae stares into the house with so much focus I feel like his eyes are going to pop out of his head.
“They are coming out,” Jin nods in the direction of the green house. Four figures step out and scan the forest line. Jin quickly tucks me behind him.
“Come out, come out where ever you are,” One sing songs. His voice sounds so warm and alluring I almost feel tempted to obey but Jin’s firm grip on my arm keeps me low.
Another sighs, already bored with the situation, “We know you are out there, don’t make us come look for you.”
“So many trespassers in two day? I wonder if they are with that mutt we cut up last night,” One chuckles in a deep voice.
My heart shatters at those words, “Cut up?” I echo.
“What a pretty voice,” The first voice purrs.
Another hums in agreement, “I wonder what pretty little creature it came from.”
“Should we go find out?”
The annoyed one voices his opinion, “I think we should just slaughter them now before the hyungs come back.”
“If you insist.”
“Wait,” Namjoon sighs as he stands up from cover. “No need to bring out your claws.”
“You are trespassing on our territory, that gives us permission to slit your throats without question. Lucky for you though, I’m feeling friendly today, now tell us what you are doing here.” The first voice demands.
“The rest of you stand too, I want to know who had the pretty voice,” The other commands. Jin pulls me up with him, still blocking me from view. The others join us, Joon is standing at point, Jin and Yoongi are flanking him with the other three standing at the back.
Namjoon bows as he introduces himself, “I am Kim Namjoon, we came looking for our pup, you caught him yesterday. We are sorry for being on your territory, we didn’t realize who you were until after. So if you could just give us back our pup we will be on our way.”
“Why would we just hand him over? We have a nice new chew toy.”
“We have something that you want more,” He offers.
One chuckles, “What do you have that we would want?”
“Your mate.”
There is a brief moment of silence before a chorus of growls come from the four alphas, “Mate.” I cling to Jin’s jacket, both out of fear and excitement. There is a silent fight for dominance as both my pack and my mates release their alpha pheromones. My omega instincts are screaming at me to drop to my knees and bare my neck, to submit just to get this to stop. I hold on to Jin tighter as my knees begin to loose their ability to hold me up. Jin, who is masking my scent, notices my suddenly trembling hands.
“Where is she? Do you have her with you? Where the fuck is she?” The first demands impatiently.
“We want our pup first, but since neither your head alpha, or your second in command, aren’t here we are going to have to come back later.”
“There is no way in hell we are letting you leave without handing over our mate.”
“We aren’t holding her back, she’s here for the pup as well,” Jin tells them, slipping a hand behind his back he offers it to me for stability and comfort. I accept it and let out a breath I didn’t even realize I was holding. “Please reel your pheromones in though, you are scaring her.”
“Why can’t we smell her?” The first whines almost desperately.
“I’m masking her scent with mine.”
“Stop it,” Another snaps.
“It makes her feel safe, so no.”
One growls, “We would never hurt her.”
Jin scoffs, “Your head alpha almost killed her thirty years ago. You,” Jin raises his free hand to gesture to one of them, “you almost attacked her yesterday.”
“Me?”
“Yes, you. But you missed her and attacked our pup instead.”
“Can we at least see her?”
“I don’t know,” Jin hums, “It’s all up to her. Do you want to see them Insoo-ya?”
I gulp, “As long as they don’t freak out or anything.”
“Wait,” Joon stops me, “Maybe it’s better if they don’t see you yet. I will be harder for both parties when we have to leave.”
“Where the hell do you think you’ll be going with our mate?” Someone barks, again I find myself under a massive amount of pressure. I hold Jin’s hand tighter.
“Control your anger!” Jin snaps back.
Namjoon gives his second in command a stern look before turning around to face the four men, “We aren’t running away, we are just waiting until your alpha comes back. I figure we should leave since none of you seem to be able to control your emotions which means Insoo is struggling to even breath with so much alpha pheromone in the air.”
“We will call him, just don’t leave.”
“Will you at least go inside or something?” Yoongi suggests, “None of us are enjoying the hostile atmosphere and at this point you are going to give her panic attack.”
The four men are silent for a moment before one speaks for all of them, “As long as we have your word not to run.”
“We came to you for our pup, we aren’t leaving without him.” Joon tells them.
“Does that mean we can see her? Since you won’t be leaving now?” One says hopefully.
“Insoo?” Jin wonders.
“I really want to peek,” I admit meekly. My pack is watching me intently, this isn’t my normal personality, I’ve always been strong and brave, not like this. I take a deep breath and take a shaky step to the side to look around Jin. The four men are standing a few yards away from the forest, watching with an intense stare. Three are really tall, about Namjoon’s height or a little taller. The other is short but only by a few inches, he’s absolutely beautiful, I mean they all are, but he is strikingly so. I’m surprised to see faded pink hair and darkly outlined eyes but they fit him so well, it makes him appear other worldly.
The tallest of the group is to his right, this one has tan skin and bags under his eyes. He doesn’t make me think of a wolf, maybe a cat or possibly a bird. Next to him is slightly shorter with a scary looking face. I find myself actually taking a step back when our eyes lock. He is the one from the forest, I can feel his familiar scent calling to me, drawing me in again. His hair is a light blond, beautiful pale skin stands out against the two tan men standing on either side of him. The other tan boy on his right has soft features compared to the other but he looks just as dangerous. Jin has to hold my hand to keep me form taking another step back.
“So beautiful,” The pink haired man purrs taking a step closer.
“Hello little wolf,” The next one coos. The other two just continue to stare. “What is your name?”
“Insoo,” I say softly.
He smiles, “So pretty, I’m Tao, this is our hyung Baekhyun. These two are our youngest pack members, Sehun and Jongin.”
I gulp, “Hello.”
Their eyes turn a brilliant gold.
“Hyung,” The youngest, Sehun, says with a cold voice.
“Sehun,” Baekhyun says with a obviously forced calm voice. “We have to wait for Kris hyung to get home, you should go call him.”
“But-“
“But nothing,” The eldest says sternly, “go.”
With that the boy nods and turns to leave, not before giving me one last glance. Even his stare seems so cold, I wonder what I could have done to earn such a frightening look. “Sorry about him, he’s still so young but you can understand that. This pup of yours, he’s younger than our Sehun, he must be quiet a handful.”
Joon shakes his head, “He’s pretty well behaved. We were pretty strict since that is how we were raised but he never really caused any problems.”
“Um,” I open my mouth to ask a question but quickly close it when all eyes switch to me.
“Go ahead little wolf,” Baekhyun urges with a sweet smile that reminds me vaguely of Tae’s.
I take a deep breath to calm my pounding heart, “You didn’t hurt him did you? You didn’t cut up my little pup, did you?”
“Your pup?” Jongin finally speaks, his is like ice as he glares daggers as Jin.
“He is not really her pup,” Namjoon clarifies, “She raised him since he was a child so she considers herself his mother.”
“How long have you all been together?” Tao wonders.
“Over one hundred years for most of us. Insoo has been with us for about 109, the three younger than her about 70 to 50. Jungkook was the one she took responsibility for.”
Baekhyun’s brow furrows, “109 years? How have we not found you?”
“We wandered frequently with a larger pack for most of that time,” Jin explains simply.
“You said something about our leader attacking her, when did that happen?”
“It was thirty years ago, he tackled her and almost ripped open her throat.”
“Excuse me,” I call their attention hesitantly.
“Yes my little wolf?” Baekhyun gives me a kind smile.
“Our pup, Jungkook, is he okay? Could I see him?”
The three men share a look but Baekhyun’s smile doesn’t falter, “If you want to come in, of course you can. But because of certain  rules I’m not going to bring him out yet.”
“How is he?”
“He’s fine,” Jongin answers shortly.
“How about you?” Tao asks, “Are you okay? Are you hungry or cold? Would you like to come in and warm up?”
I tuck myself against Jin’s side, “I’m fine thank you. I’ll just stay out here with my pack.” I watch as most of the warmth in his eyes fades to a obvious distaste for me actions. His hands clench to fists at his side and his jaw is clenched.
“As you wish, we will be inside if you need anything,” Baekhyun nods curtly and begins pulling the stubborn younger boys inside with him. As soon as they are gone I drop to my knees, ignoring the cold seeping into my jeans. Even though I already miss my mates and yearn for them to come back out and just take me in their arms I’m happy I can finally breath. Just them staring is enough to take the air out of my lungs.
“They looked pissed,” Taehyung stresses. The younger wolf joins me on the ground, letting out an exhausted breath of his own. “You have some strong mates, and that’s only four of them.”
“Of course they are pissed,” Jin snaps as he also collapses. “Their mate is clinging to another wolf, jealousy with wolves is a scary thing. I’m surprised the tan one didn’t rip my head off.”
“How many are there?” Yoongi wonders, not taking his eyes off the house.
“I’m not sure, their numbers have never really been discussed since many don’t live to see them all but I know there is about six or seven,” Namjoon answers.
“Do you think all of them are my mates?”
Namjoon nods, “I believe so. They all seem to have the belief that they will have the same mate.”
“They probably smelled you on Jungkook like the youngest one,” Hoseok figures.
“Are you okay Hyung?” Tae checks on me, placing a warm hand on my back.
I sigh and run my fingers threw my hair, “I feel so tired. It has been awhile since I had so many powerful alphas around me, I’m not used to it anymore.”
“Well you better get used to it because there is no way in hell we are getting out of here with both you and Jungkook,” Hoseok gives me a sad smile.
“I know,” I return the smile briefly before suddenly tackling the male.
“Fuck,” The older boy curses as we roll in the snow, wrestling for dominace, “What are you doing?”
I can’t hold in my giggles as I’m able to get on top and pin him down, “I’m enjoying my last bit of freedom with you guys.” The others stare at our fight for a brief moment, letting my words sink in before sharing a look. Soon they are joining in on our fight.
“Dog pile on Insoo hyung!” Jimin declares. Suddenly I’m on bottom with six heavy wolves on top of me. There are laughs and curses as everyone is scrambling to be king of the pile. I push, punch, and kick my way through, doing my best to not seriously injure anyone, but in a fight like this, anything can happen. With lady luck on my side I’m able to concur my pack to reach the top.
“King of the hill!” I yell happily.
This is it. My last few hours of freedom before I have to commit to seven mates and leave my crazy world and past behind. I will no long be a alpha, or a hyung, or a boy. I will be a pretty little omega like I was always meant to be, like I always wanted to be when I was slaughtering villages. But now that I have the possibility in front of me, I don’t know if I want it.

River’s Last Interview by Jean-Paul Chaillet for Premiere, October 1993.
A few days before his death, on October 31, in L.A., the American actor had received "Première" on the filming of his last movie, "Dark Blood", in Utah. He was 23 years old...
Tumblr media
He was called River. Like a river. Child of a couple of flower children, pure product of the 70es, he loved nature, animals and rock'n'roll. A teenager become a star, in 1986, with Rob Reiner's "Stand by Me", he showed his blond hair, hollow cheeks and pale face in half a dozen of striking movies. Nominated at 17 for an Academy Award for "Running on Empty", by Sidney Lumet, he would be Harrison Ford's eldest son in Peter Weir's "Mosquito Coast, then young Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", by Steven Spielberg. Ecologist with a mystique, he also liked difficult parts and unsettling movies. Drugged-out, prostitute and homosexual in Gus Van Sant's "My Own Private Idaho", he'd then be a hacker in "Sneakers" with Robert Redford. His last movies, Sam Shepard's "Silent Tongue" and Peter Bogdanovich's "The thing called love", are still unreleased. He was set to join Tom Cruise in "Interview with the vampire". And was achieving, when we met him, south from Salt Lake City, in Utah, an obsessional love story between three characters, with Jonathan Pryce and Judy Davis: "Dark Blood", directed by George Sluizer. River Phoenix has gone at 23. Foolishly. The 90es lose a good-hearted rebel.
Première: Your movies often contain an important social or political message. Is it a deliberate choice from yours? River Phoenix: What inspires me first is the quality of the written word and script, and not some strategy. At the time of "Mosquito Coast", I didn't choose my parts yet. I went to a casting and I had the chance to join in such a movie.
Première: Most young actors seem to make more commercial choices than you, is it right? River Phoenix: Maybe some of my movies would have been successful if I hadn't played in... These commercial stuff, I consider them as a pollution of mind. I don't want to contaminate my work or my convictions with things that won't contribute to my growth or to the development of my art.
Première: Generally, how do you deal with a part? River Phoenix: Usually, I write the detailed biography of the character. For me it's the only possible way. To play a sad scene, many will only for example think of their mother's death. I consider it's a mistake for an actor to cross the boundary that separates him from his character. Because then you impose him your own references. That's why I need to have landmarks that only belong to my character. For example, for "My Own Private Idaho" I wrote a lot. And once the movie was done, I burned it all.
Première: Why? River Phoenix: Everything was on the screen.
Première: Was this also not to use it again? River Phoenix: That's right, even if, as an actor, I'm growing richer and learning with each character. And a new character will then be able to raise from this compilation of parts.
Première: What kind of character are you in "Dark Blood"? River Phoenix: Boy is someone in search for absolute, looking for solace in wide spaces. Someone surviving by eating rodents and snakes, drinking from rain and the blood of the animals he killed.
Première: You're vegan? River Phoenix: I'm not eating any animal flesh and I don't feel having the right to take the soul of any living creature. But the movie character, on his side, belongs to the natural food chain, like Native Americans or Inuit. He's entitled to live on earth's natural resources.
Première: How do you like to work with your partners? River Phoenix: I adjust myself very easily and I never hold any prejudice about them. I try to keep my mind as open as possible towards them. But I prefer to communicate through my character.
Première: Could you describe what you enjoy as an actor? River Phoenix: When you look at the movie history, you realize that there are gaps and missing links. My ultimate goal is to try to give in a competent way a voice to characters who haven't had the chance to talk yet, those who never expressed themselves so far. Even if I've not always been able to do so. For me, the ideal recompense, what really fulfills me, is to create something new. Not only to be original at any cost or to be the first one to do it, but because these blanks need to be filled. Besides, I could play the same character again and again, in a different way each time. As many times as I have atoms in my body.
Première: Is it important for a young actor needing to compose with the Hollywood system, to plan his career? River Phoenix: Of course, there is pressure, people who'd like to build career's plan for you. But I'm not looking for their opinion. I don't mind because I'm not here to complete my career of fill my bank account. I don't care about my image.
Première: You started very early in this career. Do you feel like you've lost your naivety faster than others? River Phoenix: It wasn't really naivety but more ignorance like any beginner.
Première: Are you satisfied with what you've achieved at this point in your career? River Phoenix: Honestly, I don't think this way. I never think of me as an actor. I see all of this as new experiences each time, like as many different lives. As many reincarnations. So when I watch my last movie, I'm unable to judge or to be critical. For me, it's past, and I don't feel any connection to it anymore, like if it was somebody else than me that I'm not responsible for. I immersed myself in another life that the character appropriated. He expressed himself through me, not the other way around.
Première: It sounds like you've always taken care to separate your private life from your actor's work... River Phoenix: Absolutely. Quite often, when actors have such a strong charisma in real life, eventually it has to affect the characters they play. For myself I'm not charismatic in that way. I'm not a "performer". Ideally I would stay mute as River. That's the reason why, for a long time, I've said the opposite of what I really thought. In interviews, I've also played characters that I wasn't. I've lied and often contradicted myself to dumbfound people. It's all over now, because I have nothing left to hide. Eventually, I'm quite an ordinary person.

How much does US health insurance cost per year?
I am considering moving with my wife and kids to Michigan for a year as part of my degree. I have a number of questions, mainly about health insurance. 1. Will my wife and I still be considered married? If not, will that affect the way we buy insurance/are treated at the hospital? 2. She is very active, with slight asthma and bad PCOS. How much (roughly) would health insurance be for her for one year? 3. I am wheelchair dependent and suffer from epilepsy. How much (really roughly) would my health insurance cost? 4. Do I buy separate health insurance for my children (aged 17 months, 1 month and 1 month)? 5. My eldest child appears to be struggling with leg movement and we are considering the possibility that she may have inherited my condition. Will treatment and tests be covered by the insurance, even though we have an idea of what it might be before buying the insurance? I know these must sound like obvious questions to US citizens, but we are not a particularly rich family, so we need to make sure that there are no big bills hiding around the corner! Thank you""

How do I go about getting health insurance for my baby?
Me and my husband just got married this year and found out that we were pregnant a few weeks later. We both just got jobs mine does not have insurance and his offers insurance but it will not kick in for three more months and our baby is due in one month. Right now we are both on our parents health insurance my dads includes maternity but will not cover anything for the baby after he is born. We now make too much for Medicaid but are still struggling financially. Should we wait until my husbands insurance kicks in and pay out of pocket for two months or get him on a private plan so when the baby comes we can add the baby to that private plan? Most of the plans that we can afford have like a 10,000 dollar deductible before they cover anything anyway.""

How much would insurance on a mustang cost (ROUGH GUESS)?
Okay, so my mom's car (Chevrolet Cobalt) is finally paid off. I get my license in less than 3 months. We're wanting to get a 2011 Mustang. The concern is though, the insurance cost. Her and I would have to be on the insurance. Her insurance now is like 185 every 2 months, because she got a speeding ticket a while ago so it went up..? But this isn't going to be a really expensive car. The MSRP is around 22k and the only option I would get is automatic, instead of shift. Which is like an extra 1000. But of course it's a 2 door sports car.. So any estimations? Like extremely rough estimations. Like the average insurance, not real high or real low protection. She'd be the primary driver. ONE more question. 2011 Mustang or 2011 camaro? I like the camaro better, but she thinks it's ugly. But it's less than 1k more than the mustang, and I would love it.. I'm male by the way and make all A's in school if that has any effect at all, which i doubt. Thanks very much!""

Cheap Car Insurance For Young Adult?
I am 19. I just bought a car that needs to be plated. Its a 2002 Daewoo. (model name Lanos). I need to know the cheapest insurance I can put on the car. Ive never had any tickets or violations or trouble with the law. Ive never even been pulled over. I live in Indiana. Any suggestions please let me know. Also, I just moved to Lake Station from Elkhart. I guess you have to go through emissions to get plates but since its an 02 I dont believe I need to do it this year. However, I may plan on going back to Elkhart & thats where my lincence is from. Could I tell the BMV that and they plate it as Elkhart? & I wont even have to go through emissions?""

Can someone help me figure out how to get car insurance?? Very confused :(?
This is my first time ever getting a car loan, making payments & getting insurance by myself & so far it's been frustrating & confusing!! If anyone could help steer me in the right direction it'd be much appreciated! --I'm originally from Arkansas. I moved to North Dakota with my man, got a job & started vehicle hunting. One of my friends up here, also from AR, had a truck close to getting on the repo list because he couldn't make payments anymore. This truck is registered in AR. So, I got a loan & bought his truck from him. I got this loan Oct 4th, a month ago. All I'm trying to do is register this truck, pay sales tax & get insurance. I understand I'm not ever getting the title but my bank will & when I explained that the title hadn't been sent to my bank yet, the dmv lady said I couldn't even get temporary tags?? Can I get insurance with the truck not being registered yet?? If it's not officially mine bc the title hasn't been sent to my bank. ???""

Fastest accelerating car in the insurance group 1-3?
Hello, I am going to be turning 17 shortly and would like some advise on which car that would be very responsive and quick. My budget for the car itself is 1450 but there could be a bit of flexibility. As I am sure you all know, insurance for new drivers is very high, so I want something in between groups one and three as I believe that is the area that I can afford. Could I also please ask for serious answers. I am not not wanting to drive irresponsibly, if that is a worry to some contributors. Thanks.""

I passed my test a few weeks ago and i'm 18, 19 in december. I heard about those trackers my cousins got one but he isn't allowed to drive past 11 o clock or else his premium will increase and i'll sometimes need to drive past that time.""
