HOW TO MAKE A SALTED MAPLE MACCHIATO⁣ ⁣ Nothing says Canadiana like the natural great taste of Canadian Maple syrup. A truly unique flavored coffee experience. The taste is smooth, creamy and will satisfy your sweet treat cravings.⁣ ⁣ Side note; I had planned on having a very productive day. Suffice it to say I’ve been sitting with my feet up most of the morning ⁣ ⁣ Ingredients:⁣ 2 oz espresso⁣ 6 ounces milk, hot or frothed⁣ 2 tablespoons maple syrup, plus extra for drizzle⁣ few drops vanilla extract⁣ 1/8 teaspoon Fleur de Sel (flaky salt)⁣ ⁣ Directions:⁣ Heat the milk in a pot on the stove and beat with a whisk until rich and foamy, or use a milk frother. Pour 6 ounces cold milk into the frothing pitcher and steam. It’s officially Tomato Season and I couldn’t be happier. Yes, you can buy tomatoes all year but none taste as delicious as the tomatoes picked in the month of August. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve just picked a few ripe Beefsteak Tomatoes from my backyard garden and was inspired to try BROWN BUTTER TOMATOES by @amandahesser of @food52 with a few additions to her already delicious dish. ⁣ ⁣ Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it - swipe does the sizzle reel :) ⁣ ⁣ What you’ll need to make this dish for 2. ⁣ ⁣ • 2 beefsteak tomatoes, sliced into 1/2 inch slices⁣ • 1 ball of fior di latte mozzarella cut in half ⁣ • 6-8 basil leaves, sliced into thin ribbons ⁣ • flaky sea salt and fresh cracked pepper ⁣ • 1/4 cup unsalted butter⁣ ⁣ 1. Divide tomato slices into two plates, top with half the mozzarella. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. ⁣ 2. Melt butter in a small sauce pan over medium low heat until its golden brown in colour and smells nutty, approx. 4 - 5 minutes( the popping sound should slow down)⁣ 3. Cook this now....⁣ ⁣ A summer dinner that’s all about the fork twirl. Shrimp scampi spaghetti. ⁣ ⁣ How do you eat Spaghetti? With a spoon or without?⁣ ⁣ I’m a fork and spoon kinda girl. If spaghetti twirling were an Olympic sport I would win gold! I do my best spaghetti twirling with a spoon.⁣ ⁣ Whenever I try and use just a fork I end up wearing half of it, and bibs for adults are not sexy. ⁣ ⁣ Dinner is served ....⁣ Serves 3⁣ ⁣ Ingredients ⁣ 3/4 of a package of spaghetti ⁣ 3 tablespoons unsalted butter⁣ 2 tablespoons olive oil ⁣ 4 cloves garlic, minced⁣ 1  lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (I used wild Argentinian shrimp)⁣ 1  heaping teaspoon kosher salt ⁣ Fresh ground black pepper⁣ 1⁄3 cup  chopped fresh parsley ⁣ Zest of 1⁄2 a lemon⁣ Juice of 1 lemon⁣ ⁣ Instructions ⁣ 1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add the linguine, and cook for 7 to 10 minutes, or until al dente⁣ 2. In a large pan, melt the butter and olive oil over medium-low heat.⁣ 3. Add the garlic, saute for no more than a minute or until fragrant. Do not burn the garlic.⁣ 4. Add the shrimp, salt and pepper. Saute until the shrimp have just turned pink, about 5 minutes, stirring often.⁣ 5. Remove from the heat, add the parsley, lemon zest, lemon juice and toss to combine.⁣ 6. When you slice open the most incredibly creamy and perfect Avocado 🥑 naturally you take out your camera for a photo op ..... no? Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Nut Cookies ⁣ ⁣ WHAT MAKES THESE COOKIES SO GOOD?⁣ ⁣ The brown butter, of course! The subtle nutty flavor blends perfectly with the molasses in the brown sugar to give the cookie that amazing rich slightly smoky and nutty toffee flavor. Then you have the golden crispy edges, with a pillowy soft cake center. Now try eating just one - I dare ya ;)⁣ ⁣ ⁣ HOW TO BROWN BUTTER:⁣ ⁣ This should take about 8 minutes.⁣ ⁣ - Melt your butter over medium-high heat while continuously stirring ⁣ ⁣ -  You should notice it’s start to get cloudy and begin to bubble and boil, keep stirring.⁣ ⁣ - After a few minutes of boiling, the butter will become clear. ⁣ ⁣ - Next it will start to foam up and begin to brown quite quickly!⁣ ⁣ - Once your butter has reached the desired colour remove from heat.⁣ ⁣ Makes 3 Dozen⁣ 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour ⁣ 3/4 tsp baking soda ⁣ 1/2 tsp baking powder ⁣ 1/4 tsp salt ⁣ 3/4 cups mashed bananas (about 2 medium bananas) ⁣ 1/2 cup sour cream or greek yogurt⁣ 1/2 cup unsalted butter ⁣ 1/2 cup granulated sugar ⁣ 1/2 cup brown sugar ⁣ 1 egg ⁣ 2 tsp vanilla extract ⁣ 1 cup chocolate chips ⁣ 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 1. With the heat on low melt the butter in a small saute pan until its golden brown in colour and smells nutty, approx. 4 - 5 minutes( the popping sound should become almost obsolete) ⁣ 2. Remove from heat and add the white and brown sugars. Let sit for about 5 minutes to cool.⁣ 3. Pour into a large mixing bowl and add the egg and vanilla.⁣ 4. Mix in banana and sour cream.⁣ 5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.⁣ 6. Fold into banana mixture.⁣ 7. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Choose your own additions - you could also use raisins, toffee bits, pecans, etc.⁣ 8. Refrigerate dough for at least 30 minutes (dough will still be sticky). Drop a one-inch ball of dough onto cookie sheets 2-inches apart (about 2 Tbsp).⁣ 9. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-13 minutes or until the edges are brown.⁣ 10. What’s a potato’s favourite horror movie? ..... READY? GO! Answer in the comments 😁 Here’s the recipe to my Roasted Potato Salad while we wait. 2 lbs baby red potatoes, halved 3 cups frozen corn 1 red bell pepper, diced 1 orange bell pepper, diced 1 yellow bell pepper, diced 1/2 teaspoon cumin 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 1 tablespoon greek seasoning 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon pepper 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil DRESSING 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil Juice of 1/2 a lemon 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped + extra roughly chopped to garnish 1️⃣ Preheat oven to 400˚F. 2️⃣ Toss potatoes, bell peppers, cumin, chili powder, Greek seasoning, salt, pepper, minced dill, and olive oil until coated in a bowl toss to coat. Spread the vegetables out into a single layer. 3️⃣ Put the pan on a middle rack in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remove, add the corn to the pan and place the mixture back in the oven and cook for another 10 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. 4️⃣ While the vegetables are roasting mix the dressing in a small bowl. 5️⃣ When the potatoes are tender enough to be pierced with a fork, remove the pan from the oven. You haven’t really eaten the BEST Banana Bread if you haven’t had a spoonful of Nutella smeared on top of a warm right out of the oven slice. Now don’t just cut a sliver, give yourself a 2 finger slab! ⁣ ⁣ Have you tried it with Nutella?⁣ ⁣ Are you a purest and enjoy your banana bread plain OR Do you add a thin layer of butter, peanut butter or Nutella overt top of a warm slice. ⁣ ⁣ I’m sharing the recipe to this simple, nutty loaf because we can never have too many recipes. ⁣ ⁣ Makes 1 Loaf⁣ 1 cup sugar⁣ 1/2 cup butter, softened⁣ 1 1/2 cups flour⁣ 1/2 tsp. baking soda⁣ 1/2 tsp. sea salt⁣ 2 large eggs ⁣ 2 tsp. vanilla extract⁣ 1 cup walnuts (optional)⁣ 1/4 cup buttermilk⁣ 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)⁣ 3 large ripe bananas⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Butter one loaf pan. (I butter generously.)⁣ 2️⃣ In a stand mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.⁣ 3️⃣ Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.⁣ 4️⃣ With the mixer on low, add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add the vanilla, buttermilk, yogurt and bananas.⁣ 5️⃣ Add the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Divide batter into the prepared pan. THE BASICS OF FRIED RICE:⁣ ⁣ Over the years I’ve found a couple of tried and true ways of making flavorful Fried Rice every single time. Use cold rice, so plan ahead and cook some up the day before. Cool up a big batch and have it throughout the week. A fresh pot of warm rice does not fry well. Ever wonder why your fried rice turns out sticky and clumpy? Warm rice added to the hot pan is why. So leftover refrigerated rice is ideal. If you’ve just cook up a fresh batch of plain rice and want to fry it up spread it out on a rinsed baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and pop it in the fridge for 30 minutes (or in the freezer for 10-15 minutes) until chilled but not frozen.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Fried rice is incredibly easy to make and customizable with any of your favorites. It’s also a great way to clean out your fridge :)⁣ ⁣ Easy Teriyaki Fried Rice⁣ Serves: 2 to 3⁣ ⁣ INGREDIENTS ⁣ 2 tbsp sesame oil⁣ 1 to 2 garlic cloves, minced ⁣ 1 red bell pepper, finely diced⁣ 2 medium carrots, peeled and finely diced⁣ 1/4 cup frozen corn⁣ 1/4 cup frozen peas⁣ 1 cup purple cabbage, shredded⁣ 1 can chickpeas, drained & rinsed ⁣ 3 cups cooked long grain rice (I used leftover plain rice, or see my earlier post )⁣ 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce⁣ Sesame seeds, for garnish ⁣ ⁣ INSTRUCTIONS ⁣ * Heat a large pan and add in 2 tbsp sesame oil. ⁣ * Sauté the garlic until fragrant, careful do not burn it will taste bitter. Add in the vegetables and chickpeas.⁣ * Cook until tender. Mix in the rice. ⁣ * Pour in the teriyaki sauce overtop and sauté for 2-3 minutes. ⁣ * Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and enjoy! Oven free meals!
