moar rewatch
s1! ep2 and 3!
Tumblr media
Bow's voice actor's work here is so good lolol
Nice work establishing that only Adora can do the transformation thing with the magic sword
Tumblr media
Man someone on youtube has to have done one of those therapist deep-dives on their relationship. So much of their interactions are just painfully accurate for the way a kid reacts to an abusive parent--that combination of fear and resentment and still wishing you could make them happy, just once.
My family didn't have a golden child vs. scapegoat thing going on, though. I wonder if this is based on the writers' own experiences or if one of them read about that dynamic or had a therapist consulted or what
Tumblr media
oof too real 😬
anyway Free Palestine
even cartoons know that murdering civilians and/or destroying their homes makes you the bad guy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's some parallels here with kids who grew up in conservative/evangelical families realizing their family's politics and faith weren't based around Jesus at all but were based around bigotry and small-minded cruelty and knowing they have to leave, and knowing ND Stevenson's background I assume it's intentional
"You've known these people for, what, a couple of hours? and you're going to throw everything away for them?"
:( and to Catra, this just feels like a betrayal. There's a meta post somewhere way back in my tags that was like, from Catra's POV, Adora knew how shitty Shadow Weaver treated Catra and that wasn't enough to rebel and leave, but knowing Glimmer and Bow for a handful of hours was, and how much that had to hurt like hell, considering Catra put up with Shadow Weaver's abuse for so long in part to protect Adora and in part because it meant her and Adora were still together
Ugh this is why I love this show, Catra's actions are sometimes just awful but they make sense given what we know about her life, and right now she's just panicking and trying to hide it
And meanwhile Bow and Glimmer are like "actually we've decided we trust you :) can you be fancy sword lady again thanks!"
Like of course Adora is going to pick Bow and Glimmer and not Catra in that moment!!
"Is that....Adora?" "It's She-ra!"
Yeah that's not gonna be the source of weird "who the fuck even AM I" feelings later ha ha ha amiright
Also along with all the other weirdness of suddenly being bigger/different outfit etc, like, She-Ra is not only WAY stronger, but also knows how to fight in that body and with that sword. Like having muscle memory you didn't know you had. That's gotta be WEIRD. (I mean, there's also memories that clearly aren't hers, too)
Tumblr media
Poor bb is scared, mad, and kinda turned on (shhhh I can headcanon whatever I want)
Tumblr media
I called Yellow Diamond a clod, right to her face!!
("You made that joke the first time you saw this ep April" It's just a good joke okay!!)
OKAY EPISODE OVER
EP 3
Tumblr media
Glimmer: everyone hates Horde soldiers but I think people will love you as She-Ra YOU JUST HAVE TO BE SHE-RA HA HA IT'LL BE FINE
Adora, internally: I'm only valuable/acceptable/lovable as long as I can be She-Ra, a person who isn't entirely me and that I don't know how to control and feel extremely weird about, got it
LOL I FORGOT HOW THEY GOT SWIFT WIND
whether the sword's edges are sharp or not is entirely dependent on whether someone needs it to be or not pffft
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ouch
Tumblr media
lol this would be such a wild cosplay to do
(a quick image google says the original is far more popular for cosplay; only a couple of people have done this version)
"Adora's gone, she's defected. And I'm starting to think she had the right idea!"
Tumblr media
...okay how tempted do we think Catra actually was to just fucking leave.
Tumblr media
Once again: intentional parallels to high-control religious groups
But the reference to Lord Hordak specifically also has shades of "Just wait until your father finds out what you did!" which is, uh, a little uncomfortably close to home ngl
Tumblr media
DEEP SIGH
Tumblr media
boy do I hate how familiar this is
I used to get so scared it would make my stomach hurt, and I'd shake the same way Catra does here, which sometimes made him angrier
Tumblr media
jesus christ
okay how much of my love of Catra as a character is bc I can empathize with her in moments like this one (I was never as openly rebellious or back-talking as she is though; any disagreement got me screamed at)
I mean on the other hand Hordak is like "bitch, I know you've been doing this whole Golden Child/Scapegoat bullshit, so if your Golden Child fucked off and the Scapegoat is all you've got left then congrats that's on you, dumbass."
Tumblr media
Catra thought she was gonna be murdered and instead she got a promotion
Tumblr media
OKAY BUT ahahah oh god
IF Hordak had actually punished Catra or even threatened her in any way, I feel like Catra would, in fact, have left. There would be nothing left for her in the Horde, right? So why not leave?
But Hordak didn't promote Catra because he personally believes in her abilities, he did it to piss off Shadow Weaver. Then again maybe he knows that promoting Catra means she'll stay loyal.
Because it works, doesn't it. Oof. Catra wants to prove herself, dammit; and she's been given a shot at doing it, so she's staying.
Aaaugh.
OKAY that's 3 episodes out of 52. I think I'm done for today. No guarantees, though. Also there's no way I can do this for every single episode. >_<

Relative Happiness
When they leave, they take her with them.
“Adora,” she says, “this is very important.”
Adora giggles. “Yeah?”
“So, good news: she wiped out a pretty big chunk of the Rebel forces. Which is great, because it means your plan’s working,” Scorpia says.
“Yay!” Adora cheers, throwing her arms into the air with so much force she nearly tips over the chair she’s in.
Catra eyes her with mild satisfaction. “Let me guess, the bad side is that we also lost a good chunk of our forces trying to retrieve her.”
“Yup.”
“I did it!” Adora cheers again, and this time she really does tip her chair over, tumbling to the ground with a crash. “Ow.”
Catra props her elbows up on the table and grins as Scorpia leans over and make sure Adora didn’t crack her head open on the floor.
“Subject appears to be just as floppy as before,” Entrapta notes, eyeing a very limp Adora giggling to herself. “There was no noticeable resurgence in... level of floppiness, so it definitely didn’t abate over time, so it stands to conclude that so long as her sword’s infected, she’s infected! No need for renewal! Which really calls into question just how closely she and the sword are linked...”
Catra groans, already beyond bored. “We already knew all that—“
“We didn’t know, we hypothesized!“
“—but more importantly, I need you to make something to make it easier for us to stop her.”
“The brakes are broke,” Adora chimes in, delightedly sing-song.
“Well, we can’t put anything on her. Her clothes all change when she transforms. Maybe put something on the sword? But it can’t be too complex, or it’ll get infected and lash out too… no First Ones tech for sure.”
Scorpia prods Adora with a claw, watching the incapacitated princess clumsily poke her back. "Well," she says, "we just need to get the sword away from her, right? So, something like... a big magnet."
“A magnet... yes, that would work. It’d have to have quite a bit of power to pull the sword out of her hands, but it could work!”
They unleash her in villages, towns, areas susceptible to surprise attack and too far for Bright Moon to quickly transport forces to.
Entrapta said that Glitter and the other guy would know how to snap She-Ra out of it, and Catra isn’t about to let them take her away again. Yes, she wants She-Ra to kill them with her own hands, but she wants to do it right.
“I feel kinda funny,” Adora mumbles into her pillow. “Lil’... just a lil’ loopy. Lilloopy.”
You’ve been loopy for the two weeks, Catra doesn’t say. “Let me see your forehead,” she says instead, and reaches out a hand.
In this state, it’s a coin toss as to whether or not Adora successfully processes any instructions—never mind if she remembers or decides to follow them—but the infected princess seems to crave physical contact. It’s endearing and very easy to exploit, as proven by how quickly Adora scoots closer and leans her head on Catra’s shoulder with a happy sigh.
Rolling her eyes, Catra presses her palm to Adora’s head.
It’s hot, to her surprise. Much hotter than it should be. Catra tends to run hotter between the two of them, but right now...
“You’re sick,” Catra observes, mostly to herself. She tries not to think of angry red roots locked around She-Ra’s sword, of wires smoking under the strain, of Adora’s increasing lethargy.
“Silly,” Adora nearly slurs into her shoulder. Catra feels her press a smile there, like a benediction, before she closes her eyes. “Course I’m sick. S’what vi... v... being sick does. You're floofy.”
“She-ra is, essentially, programming. Seems like it’s only compatible with Adora, but I can’t figure out why that is. What makes her so special?”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“It has everything to do with everything! The sword’s a piece of First Ones tech, a runestone linked directly to her. It could be that parts of her bodily functions are connected to it—like her immune system, in this case.”
“Then... her body is trying to fight off the virus. That’s why she has a fever. But you said the sword was infected, not her.”
“She’s not! That’s why she’s not all rage murdery when she doesn’t have the sword. But she’s still connected to it somehow. Maybe the comparability allowed a few aspects of the virus to affect her, but not all of it. Just enough to make her body think it’s sick. In a short span of time, this would be meaningless, but she’s been infected for nearly a month now, and her body is exhausted from constantly fighting something it can’t beat. It... might actually kill her, at this rate.”
Catra feels her ears pin back before she can stop them, betraying her discomfort.
Adora looks up at Catra. Her blue eyes are streaked with thin threads of angry red—not all-consuming crimson like She-Ra, but something a little too close to it. They’re hazed over and directed only vaguely in Catra’s direction, like she’s having trouble focusing on her.
“Come on,” Catra says, again.
Adora laughs, but it’s a strained, hollow sound. “I’m going away,” she says. She does not move.
“Don’t be dramatic.”
A smile. “Going away,” she says, again.
Patience has never been one of Catra’s strong suits. She sighs, reaches over to pull back the thick blanket Adora’s bundled herself in, and—
Adora puts a hand on Catra’s wrist, stilling her. For the first time, she sees the subtly-glowing network of veins stretching from Adora’s fingers to her elbow. Most of them glow a faint red, but her fingertips have turned an ashy gray.
It’s like the red roots in the sword that lock around She-Ra’s arms have wormed their way under Adora’s skin. Unease prickles at the back of Catra’s neck, knowing that this… can’t be good.
After a moment, Adora lets her hand drop, like she’s too tired to keep holding on.
Something unhappy claws at the back of Catra’s throat. This isn’t what she wants.
Catra says, “Fine, lazy bones, you can sleep in,” and leaves.
She doesn't look back, but feels Adora's gaze prickle against her neck anyway.
“Can you turn it off?”
“Not without destroying it, and it’ll take me months to get it working again.”
Catra watches the little princess grab the archer and Adora, the sword tucked under one arm and the data crystal tucked under the other, and vanish.
She hopes against hope that they aren’t too late.
The first thing Glimmer does when they get to Bright Moon is throw the data crystal onto the ground and stomp, furiously, a sob caught in her throat.
“Glimmer,” Bow begins, but he’s got his arms full of a feverish Adora, and he doesn’t really want to stop her, anyway. He watches as the crystal splinters under her feet, a thousand glittering pieces of red fading to innocuous green as its self-sustaining power dies down. Glimmer’s heels chase after every shard, slamming into them over and over and over until there’s little more than dust remaining.
Adora whimpers, pulling them away from the destruction.
“Here, I’ll hold her,” Glimmer says, reaching for Adora. “Mom’s waiting. You get this… thing cleaned up and incinerated, I don’t want to see it ever again.”
“Okay,” Bow says. He carefully shifts Adora into Glimmer’s waiting arms, increasingly worried by the lack of response from their friend.
“The worst of it passed with the crystal. She should be recovering just fine on her own.”
“Can we see her?”
“Of course. I think having people near might help, actually. Her illness isn’t infectious, so give her a hug for me, won’t you?”
There’s an attack the next day—not on Bright Moon, but on one of the villages in the woods.
Glimmer and Bow unwillingly pull themselves away from Adora’s bedside to help, urged by the knowledge that they’re needed (and by the reassurance that Adora was well on the mend). They arrive quickly enough to minimize damage and save most of the residents, thankfully, though everyone’s eager to get it over with.
From the corner of her eye, Glimmer spots a familiar feline form. Heterochromatic eyes meet hers for a split second, and then Catra ducks into the shadows and by the time Glimmer teleports there, she’s gone.
“I hope you’re fucking proud of yourself!” Glimmer shouts, recklessly drawing attention her way, but she doesn’t care. Every part of her bellows in righteous fury and she can’t stop thinking of Adora’s weakly whispered, Catra, did you leave? I’m sorry, I miss you, I miss you, I love you. “I hate you!”
The whine of a charging cannon gives Glimmer enough time to teleport out of the way of the blast.

Evil!Glimmer AU
Tumblr media
The She-Ra brainrot continues, anyway let's do some character assassination! I'm kidding, actually I love Glimmer she's one of my favorites and an amazing character all around. But I've been wondering, what would happen if she was evil, or part of the Horde from the get go? Now I know there's probably plenty of Evil!Glimmer fics out there, but I wanted to throw my ideas out there too (For free! Aren't I a generous bitch).
Anyway, let's begin. For me at least, there are two ways I could see it happening: the Lost Princess, and the Moon Landing (these aren't like popular names or anything I'm just using them as shorthand).
Option A. The Lost Princess
Ok so this one is actually pretty simple (and clean); the mage formerly known as Lightspinner, enraged by Micah's failure to aid her in the Spell of Obtainment, begins to seek an opportunity for vengeance. That opportunity comes with the birth of Micah's daughter, which leads to Shadow Weaver sneaking into the castle and kidnapping a babby Glimmer, Mother Gothel style (which come to think about it, you could do a lot of Rapunzel references with this AU. Maybe. Probably). A distraught Angela searches the entirety of the whispering woods for her daughter, to no avail. Instead however, she finds a tiny magicat kitten stashed away beneath a tree, clutching an apple shaped tag with a written plea to take care of the child, and a name: Catra.
So yeah, essentially a "what would happen if Glimmer and Catra grew up in each other's canonical circumstances?" AU, with Catra as princess of Brightmoon and Glimmer as Force Captain/High Magus? (and later, right hand of Hordak). I'd imagine events would play out roughly the same as in canon, with a lot of the same scenes but wildly different context. Also, Catradora from the get go, you love to see it.
Option B. Moon Landing
So this one is wildly different from canon; instead of crash landing in Scorpia's kingdom, he instead lands in Brightmoon, and like in canon, quickly subjugates both it and its citizens (which leads to a far more "futuristic" Horde). Scorpia's kingdom becomes the center of the rebellion, which takes on a far more Mad Max-esque vibe. I genuinely have no idea how this would play out, only that it wouldn't even be remotely close to canon (I don't know if Angela is even alive in this AU). One issue that I can see is Catra; she and Glimmer are Narrative Foils, and it's pretty difficult to be narrative foils if you're on the same side (which I was originally going to have be the case). One possibility is to bring in Halfmoon, with Princess Catra and Princess Scorpia being co-leaders of the rebellion. Also, Catradora AND Scorfuma from the get go, you really do love to see it.
So, a few major differences between the AUs and Canon:
So obviously, no Glimbow. As much as I love them, it wouldn't really make sense, at least to me. Catradora worked because of their shared history together (and their promise), and Glimmer and Bow wouldn't have that history. I guess you could give a more flirtatious angle to their in-combat interactions, but it would be kinda awkward, and also pretty one-sided. On the plus side, Seabowmista? Maybe? I'm not saying that Bow has to end up with someone(s), but it's a possibility.
Shadow Weaver dies. SEND IN THE CRABS.
Ok let me explain. At the end of season one, Catra curb stomps Shadow Weaver, but leaves her alive because, well, gestures vaguely. I don't think Glimmer would have those same hang ups, I think she would just murk the old hag. Maybe by teleporting her into a solid object, maybe by giving her the Palpatine special, who knows. Either way, that witch is dead. At least that's my thoughts, idk maybe she survives somehow and infects Horde Primes hive mind who knows.
Speaking of the worlds greatest catgirl, Catra is strong. Ridiculously so. She's one of the best fighters in the entire series, and when she's actually put in charge of military operations she basically steamrolls the rebellion. I don't want to neuter her so if she's going to be on the good guy's side we're going to have to find an excuse for why she hasn't already won. A lack of resources could be a part of it, or maybe the Horde has some sort of secret weapon (which would probably be Glimmer, girl's probably a living wmd in this AU). Alternatively she is just curb stomping the Horde, and they put out a bunch of hits on her in response. She can't go two feet outside without being sniped, so she spends most of her time in a secure location, unable to really do much. At least until Adora comes along to be her bodyguard eyebrow wiggle.
Anyway that's about it, thoughts, questions, concerns? Oh yeah, someone should probably check up on Micah, poor dude would really be going through it.

season four of she-ra rated by catradora content
the coronation: okay so... rightfully. there’s nothing i should be appraising here. adora and catra didn’t interact or bring each other up at all. but bro... catra’s new outfit... the best character of season four. i’m kidding but also she is so hot. catra seems to be dealing w the portal incident by framing it as a victory, since the rebellion was hurt by it. but also who cares. who fucking cares man. her arc this episode was about her deciding to make hordak her little bitch and design a new sexy outfit. that adora did NOT talk about nor seem visually affected by >:( yes, this entire season will be measured by how much i think it was a missed opportunity that adora did not get to thirst. jk but also am i? 500000000/10 for catra’s new look, 0/10 for official catradora stuff
the valley of the lost: god...... this episode. i know it’s like one of the few catradora moments we have this season already but it makes me LIVID that adora said that flirty ass line and catra never even got to hear it. anyway, let’s begin properly. double trouble seeks catra out and says they’re gonna be her new best friend. catra says “oh, yeah? i’m done with best friends”, making it official that she and adora broke up 😔 like friend broke up oh my god 😔 KFKSKDKD like we been knew but i think it is so dramatic and funny of catra to announce that she’s never having a best friend again because adora broke her heart 😔💔 i mean i know it’s also like sad but let’s keep it light ok uwu anyway. sigh. double trouble! auditions for catra! by pretending to be her in battle! which is great for them, but not for me and my hang ups about adora bringing back a flirty line catra said to her in season one and winking and then catra doesn’t hear or see ANY of it. sigh. let’s go through the scene. adora sees who she thinks is catra run in and say “hey! careful with the goods”, pouncing on adora and taking her down. adora tosses dt!catra into the walkway above and they get a cut on their face. not sure whether this is meant to signify adora pulling less of her punches around catra or double trouble just not being as agile as catra is in combat. it’s probably the latter because when you think about it, throwing catra away is much more of a defensive tactic than an offensive one. anyway! double trouble still does a more or less good job fighting adora as catra. huntara calls adora over and is like hi adora! could you stop fighting ur gf for one fucking second? we need you to do literally anything else. and adora (who has NO IDEA she’s not fighting her ACTUAL gf) is like :( wait no what really?? ok :( one sec tho lemme pull off this super cool sexy farewell thing before i stop fighting catra i’ve been practicing it for years u kno kinda been working up to doing this bit. and then she. grabs dt!catra after stopping them from running away, and grabs this trap thingy to trap them against the side of this wall. “i got something more important to do :) it was fun distracting you though ;)” and she actually WINKS and she looks SO PROUD of her damn self but it means pretty much NOTHING because that’s not ACTUALLY catra :( wtf :( the worst thing about this whole situation is that adora clearly wanted to do her whole super strong super powered thing and then go BACK to catra and like.... gloat or something.... flirt some more.... kiss her.... i don’t know. but dt!catra is gone because they’re good at getting out of tight spots, and adora is like “how did she get out of that? :( i wanted to see more of her tf....” anyway double trouble, scorpia, and catra are escaping in a skiff after this. catra thinks double trouble did marvelously. “i grew up with adora, and you fooled her” well catra. i’m very sorry. but if i were adora seeing you in that new look for the first time, i wouldn’t be checking to see if u were ooc. i would be.... hm idk.... flirting with you as hard as possible? like i know i complained that we never got a proper reaction from adora re catra’s new outfit, but i think we could interpret this scene as a lapse in adora’s morals <3 like she gave catra such a hard stare the last time they saw each other, and the next time they saw each other (after this) adora glared at her too, but somehow this time she’s all 👅👅👅👅👅it was fun distracting you ;) ;) ;) like ok. slow down there horn dog. “if you can do that, we can do anything. this is gonna be fun...” catra :( perhaps you would have more fun :( if you suggestively fought with adora :( yourself? :( 8/10
flutterina: catra’s having bad dreams :( her mistakes and past actions are haunting her and the guilt is messing her up so bad :( so what am i choosing to focus on? the fact that adora was in her dream :) dream!adora looks Angry and dream!catra is scared and backing away :( a quick callback to when adora gave catra an angry Look when she destroyed the portal, and catra looked scared for a second before her face hardened back to something equally pissed off looking. so this dream obviously tells us that the thought of adora genuinely just hating and being pissed off at catra... hurts and scares her. because we all know that she loves adora and just wants adora to love her back! but.... ya lmao. dream!adora asks “why did you do it?!” reminiscent of what she said last season, but angrier this time. and we all know that catra doesn’t really know why. sometimes things torture you so bad and you do stuff that you can’t come up with sound or logical reasons for. u would rather keep running or keep deflecting, and so catra deflects dream!adora’s questions by waking up. i wonder if catra dreams about adora more than what we’re shown in this scene. i also REALLY wanna know if adora dreams of catra. i want more :( why this season gotta be the fucking break up season bro :( like i KNOW they’re thinking of each other. gimme the content :( for now, let’s skip ahead to💔 their only real interaction this season💔 holy fuck. stay strong u guys. stay strong me. i think it’s very offensive of she-ra to not give me a catradora heavy season every season? like yeah this season is good but god at what cost? they should’ve known i was going to do an evaluation? :/ that i was gonna rate each ep out of ten according to how much catradora content there was? :/ the fuck bros. ,,,,anyway, let’s get to the actual scene. catra’s walking around w an ipad and scorpia is talking to her. catra looks like. v serious and :| and >:/ BUT when scorpia asks about she-ra catra becomes >:) and >:D “she-ra was in elberon, which means she’s nearby.” “do you think she’ll try some secret attack? :0” “;D oh i’m counting on it ;)” fucking god catra can you just flirt normally??? like be horny in a normal way??????? u can just ask adora out on a date. have u tried that? i know she blocked u for nearly destroying the world but adora’s a hoe ❤️ she would’ve said yes ❤️ u don’t need to kidnap a town as an excuse to see her ❤️ yes i know she did it to plant flutterina!DT into the rebellion as a spy but shhhhh ❤️ we finally get to the most GORGEOUS “hey adora”,,, ever because it’s the only hey adora of this season 💔 i looked back and we did not get a ‘hey adora’ last ep. honestly, adora should’ve figured it wasn’t catra JUST from the lack of greeting. catra is fucking POLITE ok :( anyway. it’s so homophobic that we only got ONE “hey adora” in THAT LOOK but..... it’s okay. because it’s such a good one. catra’s hand is propping her face up and she just looks so pretty.... the way she SAYS the hey adora too like bros... how we holding up? bad? she’s posing and lounging so prettily... “took you long enough to show up” HHHHH why does she sound like a gf who’s a little :/ that her gf showed up late for their date.... bro....... must she SMILE that prettily..... also adora’s reaction... she goes :0 and her EYES get this like ‘oh wow’ look for a Moment right before she remembers she’s supposed to be mad when she sees catra then she’s like >:( CATRA >:( and like. let’s dissect that look for a moment? it’s almost like AWE but why??? why would she be at all surprised to see catra??? catra is IN the horde like. she got happy for a moment until she remembered she’s meant to be mad. good bye <3 i will now be passing away <3 “seriously. i thought i’d have to kidnap another town to get your attention” TO GET. YOUR ATTENTION. HHHHH HELP THEY’RE GAY...... BRO WHY.............. THE GAYNESS UNMATCHED..... anyway catra continues like OH RIGHT u were at a PARTY feeling SPECIAL and adora.... oof oh fuck she COLD she was like skip the SPEECH i’m done playing your GAMES and she like reminds catra of the portal and they just... oof this really IS the breakup season it’s so brutal bros :( can’t they just kiss :( like nooooo don’t stare at each other angrily you’re so sexy aha OK BUT... at the end after catra runs away and adora’s getting hugged by flutterina and everyone’s cheering for her... she lets her ‘catra BAD’ and ‘yay haha rebellion for the win! :)’ facade drop for a moment... and she gets this really sad look on her face that makes u think.... and the next scene we see catra sitting on the ledge of where she and adora used to sit together? and she looks real upset too???? they hate being enemies. 9/10
pulse: in this ep adora fucking SHUSHED spinnerella and netossa while they were bickering and like... ok wow. rude :/ adora straight up was like ok HAHA WOW we GET IT ur HAPPY y’all have WIVES and iiiiiii don’t HAVE a GIRLFRIEND because my crush is EVIL :( on the other hand, we find out that catra is meeting up regularly with double trouble to get intel. it’s very funny because she’s like yeah yeah WHATEVER what can u tell me about SHE-RA >:( like girl? u are not subtle ❤️ catra literally met double trouble and said let’s be friends with benefits ❤️ the benefits? you spy on adora and tell me everything about what she does ❤️ was she pretty today ❤️ haha jk she’s pretty everyday ❤️ here’s some bitcoin for your troubles ❤️ AND THEN the next time double trouble facetimes catra they transform into bow and glimmer to roast them and catra is at most unamused and annoyed but BUT when double trouble pretends to be she-ra catra’s like HAHAHAHDJSJDJSJD OMG,,,, INSPIRED FAM,,,, SO FUNNY TOP PEAK COMEDY,,,, ABSOLUTE LEGEND,,,,,, SHOW ME SHE-RA AGAIN,,,,, u know that thing where you find people who you’re attracted to way funnier than they actually are? ya :-) apparently catra doesn’t even need the Actual she-ra/adora to lose her shit. she just needs to see a physical representation of her and it’s suddenly Peak Comedy. someone once pointed out that this moment was the last time catra was happy all season and... can we take a fucking second to cry about that. haha 💔 anyway double trouble is happy that they finally cracked the code to making catra go from ARGH >:( to HAHAHAHAHAH :D so they give her she-ra intel as a treat ❤️ “she-ra’s going back out to destroy the bot that hurt her friend” “ugh 🙄 typical heroic adora plan” shut up bitch u dream of her lips on yours!!!!!! 7/10
protocol: no rights for white boys ❤️ 0/10
princess scorpia: well, nothing! but since i’m scouring i might as well say the line where catra says “you don’t need a princess in your life telling you what to do!” to hordak she’s actually talking about her and adora haha i mean duh :-) anyway since i’m here can i talk about how hot catra is again this season. i’m madly in love did y’all see her from behind? even her back view is beautiful i am going to combust <3 2/10
mer-mysteries: what a great episode! 0/10
boys’ night out: catra gets banned from doing war crimes because hordak wants to do the war crimes all by himself and this is a real bummer because there’s an even SMALLER chance she’ll bump into adora now :( jk ik she was avoiding her this season because the guilt was eating her alive haha :-) also glimmer and adora fought and we all know that ‘but the rebellion’s in a worse place than ever since you showed up’ is like a very :( line but when u think about it it’s true because adora joining the rebellion pissed catra off so much she became an antagonistic force driving most of the conflict in the series up to this point in the story JFJDDJDJDJ like imagine if they brought catra up in this convo ‘i’m doing my BEST glimmer :(‘ ‘ok but what can we do about your terrible taste in evil women????? was ur catgirl gf ex really worth it????? did she hit that different???? did the catgirl ***** slap that hard????’ 1.5/10
hero: man mara is so hot! 0/10
fractures: scorpia said catra’s name in front of adora... ‘shadow weaver! and at bright moon! everything is making so much sense about why catra’s been acting the way she has’ and adora’s reaction is so interesting.... she goes from this ‘catra....’ look to this ‘catra >:(‘ look and like it’s interesting to see catra’s psyche explained to adora like this and it’s clearly something that makes adora feel bad but then she remembers the bad stuff catra did and forces herself to focus on that. 5/10 for that alone lmao
beast island: bow being very upset and annoyed and disappointed in glimmer is a fun little parallel to how adora has felt about catra’s descent into the darkness. you feel doubly upset and doubly betrayed when someone you’re in love with goes against what you stand for, and the goodness you know they’re capable of but aren’t showing. 1/10
destiny part 1: ‘i’ll be happy when the rebellion and she-ra are gone for good!!!’ are u sure about that catra :/ 1/10
destiny part 2: catra gets into a huge fight with some dude and right after she sort of collects herself after barely beating him she hears “hey, catra” and she completely freezes up. she’s been so proactive with avoiding adora all season... and the moment in 4x03 nearly doesn’t count because she was acting specifically to get double trouble snuck into the rebellion. aside from a necessary interaction in which she was far away and removed from adora anyway.... where she was far enough away to smile and laugh and manipulate the situation.... she hasn’t wanted to see adora at all, clearly. and having this happen now, right after one of her worst fights, right after she thought she was going to win... “no. you can’t do this. you can’t come in and take this from me now.” “woah, i knew this would get a rise out of you, but still, you really are obsessed, aren’t you, kitten?” and catra’s standing there like 👁👄👁 until double trouble reveals themself and says stuff that :( hurts :( i am not going to repeat until i get to anything catradora relevant because i don’t wanna be bummed out ok hoes 😔 anyway double trouble becomes adora again and is like “didn’t need you... left you” and puts catra’s hand on adora’s cheek...... and then shoves catra???? rude :( 7/10

Mermista x Reader
Summary: You go with the group to find Peekablue, it doesn’t go as expected and now you have to fight your infected girlfriend.
Warnings:N/A
Tumblr media
"Really Double Trouble? Where is Peekablue? You know what it doesn't even matter. How many people out there are chipped?" Double Trouble crosses their legs and taps their chin for a second. "All of them." You, Scorpia, Sea Hawk, and Perfuma freeze for a minute. "Everyone!?" Before any of you can say anything else, the glass around you starts to crack. "What the--- Mermista? What are you doing?" You all look over to Mermista to see that her eyes are green and her pupils were white, "Prime sees all, Prime knows all." She says with a mix of her voice and Horde Prime's. "We gotta go!"
*Time Skip*
"Adora!" You yell as you wrap your arms around your younger sister. "I'm so glad you're okay." You say pulling back a little to give her a check over before going back to hug her. You look over Adora's shoulder to see Glimmer and Bow getting greeted by what was left of the rebellion. You then notice Catra standing off to the side awkwardly. You pull back from your hug and slowly walk over to Catra. Adora and the rest of your friends hold their breathe, knowing how protective you were of Adora even when she could turn into She-ra. Honestly, Catra looks like a deer caught in headlights, she is so sure she is about to get hit that she flinches when you raise your hand. Instead however, she feels you place your hand on her shoulder and pull her into a tight hug. Catra tenses for a moment, thinking this is a trick, before finally relaxing and hugging you back. "I'm glad your on the right side now but break Adora's heart one more time and the Horde won't be your only problem. Got it?" Catra nods her head fast, you use to beat her ass in horde training and she's sure you could still do it now.
You give Catra one more squeeze before letting go and turning around. "Now lets brainstorm how to beat the Horde and free our friends and my girlfriend." "Girlfriend!?" Adora says in complete shock. "Oh yeah, I forgot you weren't here for that." Perfuma instantly bounces over to Adora to explain everything that happened with you while she was gone. You were happy that Perfuma was smiling and happy again, even if it was for a moment.
*Time Skip*
"C'mon Mermista, I really don't want to hurt you!" You yell as you dodge Mermista's water. "Come on Bow what is taking so long!?" You mumble under your breathe as you dodge Mermista and take out Horde soldiers. "I hope Adora is alri---" As your thinking, you don't notice a stream of water that Mermista sent at you. You slam against the wall, hitting your head, and feel a little dizzy. "Wha---" You shake your head, getting your bearings, before lifting your head to see a wave of water coming at you. You cover your face expecting to get hit, but when you don't you look up to see the water fall to the ground along with Mermista. "Mermista!" You yell struggling to move, just now realizing you can't feel your legs. Luckily Mermista gets up a few minutes later and runs over to you. "Oh my spirits, I'm so sorry Y/n!" You just shake your head and let a few tears slip, happy that Mermista was back, and pull her into a passionate kiss. "It's okay but I can't fight anymore, I can't feel my legs." Mermista looks at you in shock before looking around and grabs a horde laser gun. "Here use this if anyone gets to close to you." Mermista says before running into battle.
After sitting and firing for a while, you notice that all your friends are frozen. "What the hell?" Then you get to watch a pretty cool battle between Glimmer and her dad. "Wow, Sparkles definitely got some practice in while in space." Luckily, Glimmer wins and all your friends are free. Mermista instantly runs over to you and pulls you into a hug. "Now it's all up to Adora." Mermista says before she turns back and gets into a fighting position against the remaining Horde soldiers. (Sorry this part was kinda bad, I just suck at writing fight scenes and wanted to get all that out the way.)
After a few more minutes of firing lasers and Mermista throwing water the ground starts to shake. "What the---" You start to say as the ground breaks open and fire starts shooting out of it. "Woah!" You yell as one gets a little too close and Mermista has to pull you back. "I can't dodge these. If it gets to close I need you to get away." Mermista turns to look at you like your crazy. "If it gets to close I'm taking you with me. End of discussion." You go to respond when Mermista send you a glare that instantly shuts you up. You both watch as the planet seems to crack open and shoot fire out everywhere and slowly get closer to the two of you. "If this is it, I just want you to know that I love you." You say looking up at Mermista, who is crouched down beside you with one arm around your shoulder. "Don't talk like that... We'll be fine, you know Adora always like to be fashionably late." Mermista says, looking around to see if there is anywhere to go. You reach up and put a hand on Mermista's cheek, making her look down at you. "I love you." You say as you pull her into a kiss. Mermista returns it, ignoring how she's getting hotter and hotter each second. "I love you too." She says giving you a smile before looking back out into the fire.
Right as its about to hit you, it all suddenly stop. "I told you Adora is always fashionably late." "I swear that's a princess thing." You mumble back as you watch the ground close back together and a white light shoot out from in front of the spire, turning the Horde ship into a tree. "Woah... that's my sister." You say as you watch the ground suddenly get covered in thick green grass with flower here and there. You and Mermista stay where you are as you watch everyone run up to Adora in celebration. From your spot, you see her and Catra holding hands and smirk. "You owe me $20, I won the bet." Mermista looks at you confused before turning to see what you saw. "Damn it." Mermista says causing you to laugh. "I told you, I know my sister well."
You sit with Mermista for a few more minutes until you hear and see Adora sprinting over to you. "Y/n? Y/n!? What's wrong? What happened?" Adora says and she kneels down next to you. "This one," You gesture at Mermista, "Hit me when she was infected and sent me straight into the wall. I haven't been able to feel or move my legs since." Adora looks worried and attempts to heal you... Nothing happens. "What? C'mon..." Adora says as she tries and tries again. "Adora stop! You'll just tire yourself out. If this is what I have to deal with now, it'll be fine. I can just get Entrapta to make me something." Adora gives you and Mermista concerned look. "Don't worry blondie, I'll be with your sister every step of the way."

Hey friend! What better way to show our love for characters than through some good old whump?
“Just move your hands for a minute, please, ______, I can’t help you if you won’t let me see what’s wrong!” +glitra
How dare you. In exchange for being such an enabler with such a cruel and delightful whump prompt I have decided to give you your whumpage. This may be the most classically all hurt no comfort things I’ve ever written.
TRIGGER WARNING: Blood, injury, abdominal injury, implied character death (open for interpretation but vague enough). Graphic depictions of violence and injury.
Please excuse any obvious errors. Lost the ability to blink my eye half way through and was a bit distracted by the blurry pain tearing up part of that, but also fucking obsessed and needing to get this one out on the page like ASAP. (Don’t worry I did take care of it best I could but once you notice that it kinda distracts. Dry eye pain is a jerk and should meet me outside the school at 3PM for an ass kicking.)
Also, uh, happy early B-Day Glimmer?????? I’m so sorry??????????????
It’s not hard to find her once Catra takes every last emotion still left in her wrung out body and shoves it down and away. Deep deep down. It’s relieving. Like pulling a loose tooth out, the feeling of it as it’s finally freed from the gums, the satisfying squelch that comes right before the pressure disappears. It’s painful and disgusting and addicting. And it helps settle her heart enough to think.
The attack was unexpected for sure, and this far away from Etheria Glimmer’s powers were severely limited.
Adora and Bow are helping the surviving civilians that got caught up in the battle. Battle, ha. Ambush. Catra breathes deeper and closes her eyes, lets her hearing and smell guide her. Because they don’t know where Glimmer is, and if the queen had her magic she’d be there helping too.
On the Velvet Gauntlet, Catra saved her for more than just Adora. Trapped on that ship, back to back and trying to stay sane she’d come to a realization. Glimmer was everything that Catra was not, every part of her that could have possibly been good or useful or right bundled together into hope and fire and a warm kindness that felt white hot against her chest.
“Why are you saving me!?”
Because you’re worth it. Because you’re amazing. Because you have so much left to live for. Because I would rather die than let them break you.
“Not you.” It’s one of the biggest lies she’s ever told in her life. “Adora.”
Her eyes snap open as she finally gets a scent. Glimmer. Blood. Lots of blood.
Catra isn’t even thinking as she drops to all fours, claws digging into the dirt and clay to give her purchase. Careless of the grooves she leaves behind, ignoring the cries for help from others as she passes, and certainly uncaring of her own injuries. She catches the sudden change in direction a hair too late, skidding sideways into a half destroyed wall before managing to dig into the ground again.
Only to pull up short.
Thank the moons, thank the stars, thank everything!
She has to learn to stop being hopeful someday. As she finally gets close enough to see that it’s not just the green blood of clones but the red of etherian. To finally notice the weak way that Glimmer is shuddering and twisting, curled around herself tightly with ragged breath.
Catra forces herself to slow down, to keep the emotions down. Lock it up.
“Glimmer, where?”
Hazy through the pain, two pink eyes glance up at her and Glimmer doesn’t even try to smile. Tears roll down her face and she clutches at her stomach. Catra drops to her side, reacting to see but Glimmer gasps and tries to wiggle away. It’s involuntary, Catra knows that, maybe better than most. How many times did her squad reach out to help her after another round of it with Shadow Weaver? How many times did she hiss and bite and struggle when what she needed more than anything else was their help.
“Hey! I can’t help you if you don’t let me.” Catra growls all the same, the box shaking inside of her before she slows her heart rate again. Quickly dragging her fingers through her hair, the scratching and tugging helping her focus again. But reaching in doesn’t help, Glimmer looks panicked, lashing out as best she can with weakened kicks. Ironically in some ways, Catra has to withdraw when Glimmer bites her with a snarl. “SPARKLES!”
It’s a light switch. Glimmer finally stops struggling, and instead squints up at her. “C-Catra?”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s me. I need to-” She’s barely motioned again to the injury when Glimmer gasps and curls tighter.
“No!”
“Don’t be an idiot!” The box rattles again when Glimmer stares at her as if the last few years never happened. She’s shaking. They are wasting time. “You need to- I need...just. Move your hands for a minute, please, Glimmer, I can’t help if you won’t let me see what’s wrong!”
Glimmer doesn’t move her hands, but she stops fighting when Catra reaches again. It’s not as big as Catra feared, but it certainly isn’t good either. A patch a bit larger than her fist is missing skin and fat, there something small and tube like poking out amidst the missing flesh. The bleeding is mostly from the other side. Explosion? Ballistic? Glimmer’s left side has a wound too, a clear cut exit wound that was hidden by her body.
Catra can feel the terrified purring kicking in as she scrambles to rip Glimmer’s cape into a half assed bandage. She rips off her own shirt to have more fabric. She’d rip of her own fucking skin if it would help. Strip by strip if she could use it to heal.
But she can’t, and she isn’t a medic, and she can’t save her this time. She can’t save her from this.
“I’m going to pick you up, we need to get to Adora.” It’s not up for debate, just a statement of facts as Catra hauls Glimmer into her arms. Her ribs scream and her back must be on fire but it doesn’t matter. “Hang on.”
“Yup,” Glimmer wheezes, obviously trying to be light hearted as she can.
Catra doesn’t even remember running back. Not really. She remembers checking in on Glimmer what felt like every few seconds. She remembers almost tripping on a body. But her focus is on the amazing woman in her arms. She barely even remembers passing Glimmer over into Adora’s hands, white magic pouring from She-Ra’s infinite well into their friend.
“You don’t understand!”
“Well enlighten me!”
They stand almost nose to nose, both huffing and nearly panting after shouting at one another.
“YOU WERE DEAD CATRA!”
The fight is sucked right out of her. “...yeah, I was.”
“Shut up, shut up! You were dead and it was my fault!” Glimmer is an ugly crier. Her face gets blotchy and her nose runs like a fountain. Somehow that’s so much worse than if she’d shed a single tear, because it’s for her.
“It wasn’t-”
But Glimmer grabs her and hauls her in roughly. The kiss is intense and lightning fast before Glimmer is hiccupping into her neck. “It was, it was, it was. And-and-and you wouldn’t have known, Catra! It hurt to see you like that, I never, ever want to see that again, okay!? So STOP trying to throw it all away!”
At the time she’d been too stunned to really think it through. But here, now, watching with bated breath and Glimmer’s heart stops even as She-Ra’s magic becomes blinding...she gets it.
Bow’s hand is on her shoulder, both having to turn away from the light, when Catra finally puts a name to it. That feeling she had when Glimmer had kissed her, the drop in her stomach when she’d found her. The box tumbles out and bursts open on the ground.
I love her, I love her, I love her, I love her, I love her, I love her, I love her, I love her.
I can’t lose her. I can’t!
But really, when has what she wanted ever mattered?

She-Ra Review (Better late than never)
Okay, I just watched the first episode of the original She-Ra and... PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF! I think we evolved quite from that. Even though Bow used to have more male empowerment by showing off even more skin, lol.
But here it is. Review of the new She-Ra:
So, for me the show overall used to be quite in need of getting used to. I guess because the stakes are rather low and I preferred more adult-orientated shows. Falling from a high point and not getting hurt or getting hit by a laserbeam and just stumbling backwards wasn't doing it for me.
But after giving AtLA a chance, I was able to go back to more child-like shows and to just roll with it. The plot never really interested me. We need to do this or that in order to accomplish this- fine by me. Just do what you do.
I never cared much about the kingdoms or the people living there. It was just decoration. Some interesting character designs in the background. No culture. When the evil-doers took the decoration away, I didn't care. I was missing some "war leaves scars, in people and the landscapes". Sometimes wounds can't be healed. Sometimes we can't return things the way they were. Make the loss of something count so you see its worth.
There was also never a moment where I wanted to know more about the lore or the past. How it all functions. What carried the series were the characters. But a lot of them are more like a walking gimmick and aside from that nothing.
I think Bow is one of the best characters. He has some nice, positive masculinity going, he is a mediator, he tries to find solutions and tries to keep the team together. When he later just snaps and says "I can't be the happy one all the time!", I felt that. He has a right to be mad at someone too (Glimmer) and he doesn't have to instantly forgive. Lol, I had people say you are immature if you don't forgive and stuff. And dozens of characters who constantly have to be the bigger person, no, more like they have to be Jesus in order to keep the rest happy and zero damage is shown. Their psyche doesn't matter.
So. Big <3 for Bow and his only weakness: A covered belly! x'D
---
Scorpia is probably the heart and soul of the series. And after seeing how her original was... that's fucking evolution times ten! xD She is just so genuinely likable and clueless while also being insecure. When she wears the princess-prom dress for the first time and blushes... what a cutie! I was going AWWW! And when she finally realizes that Catra is no friend material and Catra realizes who she chased away with her behavior: That was true loss! I felt that. I didn't do wrong to Scorpia, but I felt the pain anyway. So, like Bow, Scorpia didn't stay the punching bag forever and reacted. I like that!
10 out of 10 scorpions for Scorpia!!
---
Entrapta has a really cool design, especially with her moving hair. All the budget to the hair! For some reason I also like her name a lot! It's rather extraordinary, heh! Unlike "Glimmer" or "Bow" which are rather on the nose. Normally I dislike the "limitless young genius" trope, but Entrapta at least had some limitations (mostly when they were plot-relevant, though) and she is a princess after all, so a special affinity to something (and if it is machines) beyond a normal person's grasp is believable. Unlike others... (Raph from TFP. "Hacking into the FBI? No problem!" H-How?!) And while she is in regards to anything else rather airheaded (uhm, robots kill people. Well, not on screen, but... I'm sure they killed someone), she at least realizes that later and it got her a connection to Hordak which no usual good guy could have done.
An army of robots for Entrapta!
---
Hordak the missed opportunity. Not enough screentime at all. They gave this cliché evil guy a soul and they did next to nothing with it. All his good scenes are with Entrapta and there are only a few. Later he sheds TEARS when he realizes she never betrayed him! Why can't we get more scenes like that? Him being a failed clone is a good backstory and a scene with the creation of Imp would have complimented that a lot. Imagine the half-dead baby lying there and it's about to be flushed away, but Hordak hesitates. He picks Imp up, looking at him. Discarding him because he is not perfect? Because he will never be what he was supposed to? But who says that he can't accomplish something? Hordak sees himself in the baby and shows fate the metaphorical middle finger. He presses the baby tightly against his chest and murmurs: "We will show them...", accepting the baby and ultimately himself...
In the last season we get Wrong Hordak and while having someone around who is completely pure and naive to a world beyond the hivemind (just like a person escaping a cult) is important to show so we get the clones's perspective, we kinda lose on the real Hordak there. All he does is stare at that one crystal sometimes... until the end when he does the "throw the emperor in the pit Darth Vader style!" thing. Lame. He should have been with the good guys sooner and shown some recovery there.
A baby bottle for Hordak so he can feed his future robot children with Entrapta.
---
Glimmer. For some reason I always saw her as a side character who somehow got cast as a main character. She just constantly slipped out of my mind. Oh yeah, she has mother issues and a whole family and kingdom, but... she just seems so flat! You could put Adora in her position and nothing of value would have been lost. Still the main hero who fights evil. Maybe without fancy glitter magic. When she becomes queen and later almost a tyrant, that's when she gets more interesting, but still... I was just "where is Adora?" whenever she hogged the screentime. Not interested in this character in the slightest. No glitter for Glimmer.
---
Adora. Does the main character things. Even doesn’t hesitate sacrificing herself for the greater good. Is the typical main character. Doesn’t think things through, runs towards the enemy, is immature, gobbles down food. Main character. I don’t like this kind of main character, but I don’t hate her either. Neutrality for Adora.
---
Catra got too much screentime. Yeah. We get it. She has issues. She makes bad decisions. Very bad. She regrets it. Is hurt. But can't be the bigger cat. When she later visits Glimmer constantly in her prison, I was just groaning. Give someone else the screentime! We get it! We get Catra's problems! Sometimes less is more!
I don't know how people viewed her coming together with Adora in the end, but I was glad they were allowed to kiss and say I love you and so on. Not that I shipped it, but hey, be happy. They were all over each other throughout the series. Just let them be happy. Yeah, Catra did horrible things (but what I said about lasting damage in this series. It ain't there.), but if Catra was Starscream, I wouldn't object either and I have to stay fair here. If Starscream is a war criminal and I still simp for him, then I have to give other villains the same treatment without finger pointing and screaming "Abusive! Toxic!". Except I want it to be, but that is another story to tell...
Aside from that, Catra showed regrets and emotional pain. Starscream is entirely different there. I love him the way he is, but... sometimes it's hard to stay on his side. But that's the writers's fault. I also like about Catra that she just laughs into villains's faces. I didn't expect that character to be able to carry a whole army on her shoulders and lead them. With nothing but cat powers, lol. That thing with electrocuting Entrapta and pushing the "planet gets blown apart" button... juuuuust stop. It ain't worth it. That's some serious own grave digging there.
A cat for Catra.
---
The lesser princesses. Why are the elements so weirdly spread? We got magic, plants, water, ice, lightning bolts. And some others who don't have crystals. But the main elements are really weird decisions. From the traditional elements we got only water and it hogs two crystals! Then we got the element of magic which is okay in the context of this world. Then plants and red electricity which is also okay on a greater Pokémon-esque scale. It feels like something is missing there. Especially when they talk about their weaknesses "Fire, fire, fire..." Where is the fire princess? The earth princess? These are two main elements and if you don't want to go the traditional route then make all elements something out of the ordinary. Not water AND ice if you only have five crystals around.
---
Frosta could have been entirely cut. She says nothing of worth and adds nothing of worth. Her gimmick is "Toph" but with heart and soul cut out. When she was introduced I expected her to be the most mature, raised from a young age to act more adult than she actually is, because she needed to grow up fast in these times. Her country is the largest and with great power comes great responsibility. We could have gotten quite political here, how complicated it can be. The hard decisions you have to make and the compromises you have to take. All for the sake of keeping your people safe. Her character arc could have been about that and about finding her childish side again which was denied from her. There. Also her big country is meaningless aside from her introduction episode. Since she always fights with the princesses alone with ZERO bodyguards and all... Where is the power of that country??
A snow-less winter for Frosta.
---
Mermista's gimmick is "snarky". When she shows new parts of her personality like reading novels, it's a one-episode thing. It takes quite a while for her to get actually likable. Not that I disliked her, she just had no presence. When she later leads a mission we get to see more of her, but those are the moments where I feel like we are missing a couple of episodes that should be dedicated to the other princesses alone or with them as the focus. They are just shoved into the background so much by Adora, Bow and Glimmer, that shouldn't be. They are in the opening after all as if they are part of a group that is always together.
Sea Hawk is constantly dancing on the thin line between okay and annoying. Though I like that it is a fabulous guy having a relationship with a girl and not the "boring guy". But the men of She-Ra are mostly beyond the usual men tropes of angry, stoic, boring, stupid dude. So it doesn't even stand out as much as it should, lol. Like I hate this trope that the most beautiful girl/sexy woman of a show comes together with "the average Joe" or "comedic relief who is also often times small in stature". I guess... I know why that is...  Anyway, the main girl/more chaste woman gets together with the main hero. Mr McBoredom but strong! While the fabulous guy... is either evil, has a bad character, is not traditionally manly, is just shallow. No pretty men for the girls. Well. Not anymore!
A dolphin for Sea-Ra and what she could have been if she had more screentime.
---
Perfuma is the hippie princess and I guess my favorite from the lesser princesses (though, there is no real competition.). The way she handles things are in line with her beliefs and sometimes she says some actual intelligent remarks, but isn't listened to because she isn't the brash one, but the harmonious one. Which is sad. Everybody rather calm down and meditate instead of getting in each other's faces. That could work wonders sometimes. So, she actually is the first to see that Scorpia doesn't want to attack them when she left Catra while the others just keep attacking. Her shtick really is taking into consideration when she is written in a situation. However, sometimes it is a bit too much. Power of friendship isn't going to break the mind-control chip and they all saw time and time again that IF the controlled person can get a grasp on themselves again, it's only for mere seconds. So cut the crap, it's not against your beliefs when you stop thoughts-and-prayers-ing for something that won't change without actually doing something against it.  Fun fact: Because she was so insisting of poweroffriendshipping Scorpia out of control, I was almost expecting a digivolut- uhm, a transformation there, lol! Especially because they mentioned before, she could be one of the strongest princesses. Well, of course she wouldn't become more forceful. Except she might get the power to swipe negative thoughts away and disperse fighting will. Now... that didn't happen, but still... (Also a nice episode with her having to admit she doesn’t get cacti. There is actually some character development here!)
A beautiful flower for Perfuma!
---
Spinnerella and Netossa. “The biracial gay couple” hanging around in the background until they became characters in the later seasons. Finally! I found the “biracial gay couple” trope so often in shows, it’s like they want to stuff as much diversity as they can into two characters and then keep everything else conservative. Thankfully She-Ra shows a lot of diversity everywhere.
A net carried by wind for Spinnerella and Netossa.
---
Swift Wind. Back to the sketch block. Nothing of worth was done or said. He is supposed to have this super important magical connection to She-Ra, but she hardly uses him. He is just another fighter... somewhere else. If he is there. And he stands out like a sore thumb as the only talking animal. Maybe you could make it a gimmick for a toyline that every princess can summon a pet to ride. That would have been cool. Or if he stayed mute and acted just like a horse. Then you could have had the cuteness factor. And the animal behavior factor which is also cute... and funny. Think of Pegasus from Disney's Hercules. That's a good horse companion! But Swift Wind? Annoying. Unimportant. Waste of time.
No unicorn for Swift Wind.
---
Shadow Weaver. Didn't like her. Wanted power, got what she wanted, but too much. Ugly now. Her powers are rather weak. I didn't even pay attention to the episode where she haunts Adora. As if that's gonna do something in the long run. Then Catra stole her job. Rightfully so. She got imprisoned, then fled, then became an ally. When she later sacrificed herself and said to Catra that she is proud of her, well, did she say it so Catra would do what she wanted or did taking off the mask symbolize that she finally said the truth? We might never know and we might never care.
No dark magic for Shadow Weaver.

Emperor I have two many eyes. (Badumm-Tss!) "I want to destroy the universe!" What a lame motivation. What can I even say to that? Of course only mind-controlled people would follow this goal and I remember a series where someone carried their own clone and said "It's sad when oneself is the only one you can rely on/trust". Yeah.
Why did Hordak even build an empire when everything was supposed to be destroyed? Why open a portal to the asshole who didn't want you in the first place? So many toxic parental figures in this series. And the children won't stop wanting their approval. When Prime shows Glimmer the last pieces of destroyed worlds or gives her food that is made of things that could only be found in these worlds, one gets a glimpse of the horror he represents. He could be the most horrible gourmet of all time "I only eat things made out of extinct lifeforms". Petty. But oh so scary. When you are so powerful that you can destroy worlds, what do you care about the ants living on them? But nah, he has some pseudo-religious thing going, assimilating people into his hivemind like the borg in Star Trek do. Actually, just assimilating people and growing his army and enriching the collected wisdom of galaxies could be a motivation, too. Then the good guys could make a stand for individualism. But eh, too complicated.
No green juice for Horde Prime.

Prepare for Trouble and make it Double. Double Trouble. I learned something about the incompatibility of neutral pronouns and my native language. Their gimmick is "actor" and it's pretty over the top, it gets annoying fast. Not even the gayest nurse I'm working with talks like that and they would make any gaydar explode in a second. Maybe they could have gone a little deeper with that and give them some meta jokes about how scenes are gonna unfold and give us some surprises there. I don't like the opportunist crap they pull off, why even bother working together with Catra in the first place? Always join the winning team? What a Knock Out. Get out of here, before I make you swallow your own tail! Yes, I’m still salty about that. Fuck you, Predacons Rising! Fuck you!
A mirror for DT because after all they still have a sexy body.

Late to the game, but a Catradora prompt: Catra gets dragged to go rock climbing by Entrapta and Scorpia and is super impressed by the clearly regular climber Adora.
this was a lot of fun! thanks for the prompt, hope i delivered :))) ao3
It was a Sunday, a lazy Sunday, Catra pointed out. All she wanted to do was sleep in until noon, eat, and then go back to sleep again. Maybe kiss Adora a few times, maybe mess with Glimmer a little bit, perhaps take a walk around the castle with Melog. However, she did not want to go out, much less exert any large amount of energy. She’d spent so much of the war using up all her energy, even using it when she had none at all. Now with the fight over, she was determined to have as many lazy days as possible.
So, when Scorpia had bursted into her and Adora’s room in the Bright Moon castle, Catra was not amused. She covered her ears and shielded her eyes, hissing at Scorpia for opening the blinds. Soon after, the sound of beeping technology entered her room.
“By my calculations, the most appropriate time to leave for optimal sunlight without too much heat is in twenty minutes,” Entrapta spoke. “I thought you said you’d be able to wake up Catra.”
Catra huffed, “Scorpia has been more than successful in waking me up, Entrapta.” From her curled up spot in the bed, she glared at Scorpia, “It’s just a matter of why.”
“Come on, Wildcat,” she replied, attempting to pull her out of bed. The feline quickly crawled away from her, trying to get comfortable again at the other end of the bed. “Sunlight is good for you, fresh air is good for you! Plus, a little exercise never hurts.”
Catra replied with a muffled no. She curled up even more, trying to find Adora’s legs to nuzzle against. When she couldn’t, her eyes opened to see where in the bed she was. Instead, she heard Adora’s voice walking in.
“Adora, you can get her out of bed, can’t you?” Scorpia asked.
Catra groaned, tucking her head between her arms. She felt Adora’s hand on her fur, a spark fluttering through her body. She shut her eyes further, she would not be swayed.
Adora’s hand rubbed her softly, she kindly played with her hair, “Hey there sleepy head.” She giggled, Catra always loved the sound of it. “Come on, we’re going rock climbing.”
“We?” Catra crawled up to the pillows, throwing the blanket over herself. “The only we should be us in this bed with the drapes closed.”
Catra felt the bed shift, a quick inhale brought the familiar and comforting scent of Adora. “Please?” The blanket lifted off of her, she found puppy dog eyes and a pouty lip. “It’s gonna be fun.”
“Sixteen minutes now, if we want to exert the most amount of energy with the least amount of residual heat from the sun,” Entrapta said.
Adora smiled, running a hand through Catra’s hair once more. She closed her eyes again, knowing the longer she’d look into Adora’s sky blues, the more inclined she’d be to accept. Adora’s fingers lingered behind her ear, in the exact spot that was her weakness, and she purred.
In her ear, Adora whispered, “Just a few rock walls and then we’ll come back here, just us.”
Catra’s ears perked up, her tail reacting with curiosity. After a few more lazy strokes of fingertips behind her ear, Catra sat up.
“Fine,” she growled. “But I will not have fun.”
Adora kissed her cheek, helping her out of bed. It took no time for her to change and then the group was off. Catra didn’t even know how rock climbing became a subject of interest for her friends, and in the early morning sunlight, she didn’t really care. Entrapta spoke into her recorder, mentioning something about analyzing how Etheria’s magic has since affected the world around them. She could hear Scorpia and Adora chatting, about what she wasn’t sure; Catra was busying herself with looking at the new grown flowers, at the moss green grass covering the stones and logs. She lamely followed the group, huffing every now and then, dreaming about the bed she reluctantly left.
After some uphill walking, they came across their first wall. Entrapta was the first to go up, her hair doing most of the work for her. Once she was at the top, her hair reached down and grabbed Scorpia’s arms, hoisting her up.
“What?” Catra exclaimed. “What kind of exercise is that, Scorpia?”
Adora placed a hand on her shoulder, “She can’t climb with those pincers, Catra.” She wrapped her arm around her, whispering in Catra’s ear, “Bet I can beat you to the top.”
Catra furrowed her eyebrows, examining the wall in front of her before smirking. She pounced onto a nearby collection of tall rocks, then onto a tree branch.
“Hey, that’s cheating!” Adora yelled with a laugh behind her voice.
Catra turned to see her girlfriend easily scaling the wall, dare she say almost too easily. She quickly picked up her pace, trying to find the next surface for her to land on. Adora was nearly there, a wide smile on her face. Catra was stuck at a small ledge not too far away from her, out of options for places to help her up. Pouncing from place to place, Catra could do with ease. Climbing? Not her strong suit.
Determined to win, however, Catra tugged at a few different protruding rocks before choosing one and bringing herself upwards. Looking to her left, Adora was already hoisting herself over the edge. Catra rolled her eyes, continuing to carefully choose her next handle to hold onto. Scorpia was cheering for her, encouraging and rooting for her abilities; Catra rolled her eyes to hide her growing grin. Adora peered over the edge, boasting a smile. Catra shook her head, trying faster now to get to the top.
She was almost there, Adora’s stupid, pretty face becoming clearer and clearer. Catra took the nearest ledge to her and put her weight on it, bringing herself upwards when she felt the rock come out from under her.
A breath caught in her throat. She knew it was a long way down, and while she’d surely land on her feet, pain would not be avoided.
It was too sudden for her to try and grab anything else but just as soon as she felt the rock give out under her, she felt a hand take her’s, Adora’s hand.
“Don’t worry,” she said as she pulled Catra up, “I’ve got you.”
On flat land, Catra let out some heavy huffs. She turned to Adora, “Where did you learn to climb like that?”
She shrugged, “Light Hope made a lot of simulations while I was training to be She-Ra. I’ve climbed enough walls in there to be pretty decent.”
Catra growled, “So, you set me up! That’s not fair.”
Adora smirked, giving her girlfriend a quick kiss, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She began laughing, sticking her tongue out and lamely running away. Catra chased after her with glee, jumping on her and rolling around on the ground. Scorpia and Entrapta were a bit ahead of them, but not too far that they could potentially become lost. Catra straddled Adora, applauding herself for pinning her girlfriend. Adora took her face in her hands and kissed her slowly only to flip her over. The two huffed, staring into each other’s eyes before getting up with smiles.
They caught up with their friends; Scorpia was collecting flowers that reminded her of Perfuma, meanwhile Entrapta was collecting samples for her research back at the castle. They scaled a few more walls, Catra was always the last to go up. (Mostly to admire Adora’s back muscles at work, but also because she just wanted to go back to bed and didn’t feel like climbing anything.) (Well, except maybe one thing.)
Once Entrapta couldn’t hold any more data, the group began their descent. Going down was far scarier to Catra, her foot placements always seemed to find the unstable rocks first. However, Scorpia was once again cheering for her friend and Catra enjoyed the encouragement. (She wouldn’t say it out loud, but it definitely helped her feel better about her mediocre climbing.)
Finally back at the castle, Catra took Adora’s hand and gave a curt goodbye to their friends. She walked the halls to their bedroom, barely acknowledging any of their other friends they passed. She threw open the door, taking Adora in with her, and kissing the girl fiercely.
Adora chuckled into her lips, “I’m guessing someone liked rock climbing?”
She rolled her eyes and muttered, “It was kinda, pretty cool to watch you go up.”
“Hm, huh, what was that?”
Catra pushed her shoulder, “Ugh, shut up, Adora.”
“Make me.”
So Catra did.

18 and 14 :3 for all the babies!
oh Char, my dude, these are some good ones....I’m gonna answer 18 first actually because it impacts 14.
18.) Which parent do they call out to whenever they have a bad dream?
Willow - I  don’t think she has a preference. She might just call out and whoever comes is the one who comforts her. However, knowing Scorpia, I bet she’s always the one to volunteer. I’ll bet she still has her own nightmares ;-; I really love the idea of Willow being comforted by Scorpia’s big strong soft presence. She’s covered in natural armor. She’s so tall! She’s undefeatable!! But Scorpia also probably calms her down by telling her stories or singing to her, since we know Scorpia canonically loves to sing. She just rocks her in big strong mom pincer arms and that’s all it takes to put her back to sleep.
Ash - Ash has one mom and I think he reacts to nightmares in the same way Catra does. Ash’s real family was killed and if anything, that’s what his bad dreams are about. I’m sure Catra has no issues relating to Traumatic PTSD dreams. I don’t think he’d immediately call out to her for help, especially not after she first takes him in. But if Catra noticed him squirming in his sleep, or crying or what not, I think she and Melog would just curl around the little guy and purr him back to sleep. A cozy warm fur pile is all he needs to feel like he’s not alone anymore.
Luna - Adora, undoubtedly. I mean, if she were to wake up from a bad dream and call out “mama” it would be unclear, but it’s definitely Adora she wants. Because Adora is She-Ra. Adora is a hero. Adora is a protector. I think, even at a young age, that fact is not lost on Luna. She senses it through baby powers. I also don’t think Adora would be shy about transforming into She-Ra around her. Mostly for games or piggyback rides or whatever, but it sticks with Luna as “wow this glowing giant mom is so cool and can protect me from anything”. I also think Adora would be the one to come running whether Luna wanted her or not. She’s all too familiar with awful dreams and it would probably physically hurt her to see her own child suffering from them. I imagine there have been plenty of nights Adora just crawls into bed with her to calm her down and then never returns to her own room. Glimmer finds them the next morning cramped together in a crib, Luna laying halfway across her face or something.
14.) How were they like as small children? Did their personalities change drastically as they grew older?
Willow - Sweet, sweet, soft hearted kid. Quick to cry from ANY emotion. Clumsy, kind, adorable. She’s perfect, look at her moms. I think she only continued to grow further into these traits as she got older. She follows her moms around, and they teach her good lessons about kindness and caring and responsibility and friendship and she just absorbs it like a spiky little sponge. She takes her duty as a good friend and good daughter and good princess very seriously. But she’s also an unintentional goofball like Scorpia and wants to help everyone she can. Soft baby.
Ash - Quiet and observant baby. I think he grows more vocal and sassy and spunky as he gets older, taking lessons from Catra -- who unintentionally teaches him to be somewhat of a brat. But like... in a way that’s cute, because he’s clever and witty and like... that insult was scathing but also “damn it if it wasn’t a good one”. I think he’s a lot more open than Catra though. He’s close with his friends and not afraid to be vulnerable around them. He definitely wants to protect them as much as they do him. He’s also always one of the first to remind Luna of her worth as a person when she’s grumping about lacking powers. Supportive good dude. Kinda like Bow with an attitude.
Luna - Whoooo boy.... Luna was a sweet baby. Attached to her moms, always smiling and laughing and throwing herself off of things because she was a ball of boundless energy. She feels her emotions really big like her moms do. I think her temper tantrums were rough, but her highs were VERY high. She doesn’t sparkle, but she could light up a room ;-; She was definitely one of those kids that crawled into her parents bed to sleep between them just because she wanted to snuggle for far longer than she should have. But they let her, because they’re soft moms.
She definitely changes the most out of the three as she gets older. Luna’s lack of powers has been a source of insecurity for her from the moment she realized she didn’t have them. And it only continued to grow and fester and change and when she reached teenager hood (around 13) it turned into full blown angst. She argued with her parents more, became a bit broody and angsty, less laughter more frowns. She pushes herself to train, becomes frustrated when no one takes her seriously or seems to understand why she’s so upset. For about 3 more years this continues and she and Adora start to really break apart. Which completely shatters Adora, but she hides it behind the facade of being a strict mother (who just doesn’t know what to do to help). I think Glimmer would still be a bit more understanding (still at a loss) but Luna doesn’t feel as much personal resentment towards her as she does Adora. Adora is very saddened by the fact that as time goes by, she is no longer her daughter’s hero. And Luna is equally saddened by the fact that her hero doesn’t seem to believe in her.
Annnd... I’ll leave it at that. :-) bless u char

My Thoughts On: She Ra Season Finale ( With Spoilers)
Oh man oh man oh MAN, that’s what you call a Season Finale!! The whole time I was expectin Adora to save Catra’s ass in the end after being chipped by Sybok from Star Trek V Horde Prime. Yeah let’s get that shit outta the way, Horde Prime is basically Albino Jamaican Jimmy Swaggart, who thinks Rock N Roll is the devil’s music and people needs to cleanse there soul with Sha Ka Ree or Amy Grant or whatever. Also he’s one hell of a host, he brought Glimmer and Catra over for dinner, even provided five star meals when Glimmer’s inprisoned, showed off his collection of stuff from planets he destroyed, and very well mannered to his guests. Swell guy when he’s not trying to drain the Heart Of Etheria and turning the people there into the Borgs.
Now the chemistry with everyone was fantastic, I like that after all the shit Glimmer pulled off in the tail end of Season 4 Bow wasn’t too keen with her for good episode or two. It’s great to see Catra and Adora together and not throwing shit at each other too. I was kinda surprised in retrospect how early on they got Catra back and joining the Rebellion. Also a bitter sweet closure between the two and Shadow Weaver. The hair cut she got looked similar to the hair cut I gave to Entrapta. Speaking of which, Entrapta grew a lot in this season, realizing that some action she makes have consequences and there are more important things to worry about other than tech stuff.Movin on to Scorpia, nothing too much but she and Perfuma had great chemistry together, and she sang a James Bond tune fro good measures. Also my fuckin artwork predicted that shit, except she wasn’t singing “Still Loving You” by Scorpions. Hordak... He showed up time to time with mood swings whenever he thinks about Entrapta. I kinda wish he showed up a little more so I could give a shit (I’ll get to my opinions about the two later). On the other hand I think I prefer Wrong Hordak better. Fuckin, he’s a gem to look at I’d much prefer him over the real one. I’m glad he made it through. We also get to see more of Netossa and Spinnerella this season and good LORD this woman and her wife should’ve showed up more often. Netossa might be the Lonnie of the Rebellion cause she’s the only one who sprayed water on Catra’s face when discussing people’s weaknesses. Smaller rolled from some minor characters are great too. George and Lance comes back safe (thank Dio) and Double Trouble’s bit were a joy to watch.
Now I got some minor nitpicks which range from “Oh Yeah” to “Who Give’s A Flying Fuck”. My question is what happen to the three who joined Adora and the gang in the USS Darla? Like did they forget to take them back home when rescuing Catra off of Horde Prime’s Ship? Was Catra like “You’re on your own BITCH!!” and scuddled the fuck off? That’s the biggest problem I have, btut the next problem I have are negligible. Lonnie, Kyle, and Rogelio only have a cameo, and I really wish they did something. Yeah I get it, this season was suppposed to only focus more about Adora and Catra, but a little reunion would’ve been kewl. Like Lonnie gives Catra a thumbs up or something. Also The P is finally comfirmed. Going back with Hordak, my only problem is that I kinda wish we get to see a tad bit more, only because I completely forgotten about him til the end where he Palpatined Horde Prime. Should’ve fuckin did this to him:
Tumblr media
Small Rant Warning
“HEY FUCKIN ENTRAPDAK IS A CANON SO SUCK IT” Yeah it happened. As I expected and accepted back in Season 3. I’ve kinda grew into to it, but still probably not enough to actually draw the ship in a romatic sense. The two being casual together I’m more willing to draw that, and have Hordak kinda being in denial that he’s in love but every one’s like “Pfft yeah, right. You TOTALLYT don’t love her”. Them doing something stupid together, OH HELL YAH I’ll draw that shit, cause it makes me laugh. “SO ARE YAH GONNA STOP DRAWIN YOUR SHIP WITH ENTRAPTA AND KYLE!!!!?” Nope, cause 1) you guys keep throwing fuel to the fire, and 2) I still like drawing the two together, amd it’s only an AU ship and never my Canon ship. Ok maybe it was before Season 3, but I’ve wrote it off as an AU ship now. Also The P has been confirmed canon. I don’t fully dig Entrapdak, but at least it was written off well.
Uhhh any other ships I have in mind... Oh I can dig shipping Perfuma and Scorpia. In fact I’m debating whether or not have my fankid, Petunia, have two moms and a Scorpian sister. Also I might draw Rogelio and Kyle’s kid just for good measures cause The P has been confirmed canon. Ok it’s not but Scorpia said Kyle has crush on Rogelio, and being a good parent taking care of Imp. I have several idea’s to draw, and I’m currently workin on a two page spread. In the end Season 5 is a fantasic way to end the series. Even though we all want more, where else is there to go? An epilogue season akin to Steven Universe Future would be nice. I have my ideas but it heavily involves my OC being a main villian. Anyways I enjoyed it.

She-ra Season 4 review!
So ya girl binged season 4 because I had to and here is my review! There’s spoilers, so beware of you haven’t watched it!
- I really loved how Glimmer expressed her feelings of anger to her friends during her coronation. The fact that her friends were dodging around the subject about her mother being gone was frustrating and even though they had good intentions, I’d feel angry too.
- DOUBLE TROUBLE IS THE BEST AND I LOVE THEM. THEY ARE SO BAD IN THE BEST WAY. THEY ARE SO OVERLY DRAMATIC BUT FUCK I’D LOVE TO SEE MORE OF THEM IN THE NEXT SEASON. Plus it was really really nice to hear they/them pronouns used so effortlessly.
-Mermista being into Murder Mysteries and being a detective? Hell freaking YES. Seriously, she is so cute. First Sea-ra now this? Gold.
- Mermista coping with her depression in a bubble bath with ice cream? Mood.
-Perfuma admitting that she hates cacti. It was funny but at the same time, endearing because we got to see more of her weak points. I also loved her bonding session with Huntara.
- Highkey sad we didn’t get to see more of Huntara but at least she didn’t just disappear.
-GLIMMER HOW THE FUCK DO YOU TRUST SHADOW WEAVER??? I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND THIS. LIKE I UNDERSTAND YOU WANT TO BE STRONGER BUT THERE’S OTHER SORCERERS LIKE YOUR FUCKING AUNT.
-Glimmer wanting to be a good queen is normal and I respect her for wanting the best for her kingdom but I disliked her so much in this season. How can you take lessons from the same person that mentally and emotionally abused Adora as well as tortured you?
- Adora crying when Glimmer said that it was her fault that Angella was gone? Bruh I was ready to cry too (and throw hands with Glimmer because what she said was completely unreasonable).
-Bow, Swiftwind and Seahawk bonding and Bow saying how tired he is of constantly being positive was amazing. I really love that the writers acknowledged that he’s always the one keeping the peace and that it is draining to do.
-Watching Scorpia get ready for a day in the Horde is what I aspire to be in the morning.
- Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio bonding during that spore storm? My heart was living.
- Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio witnessing Catra get angry and seeing her hair poof out of her head piece made her look so much like Shadow Weaver I was genuinely scared.
-Not to be dramatic but seeing Catra without her head piece and in pajamas literally made me scream.
- aLSO SCORPIA CALLING CATRA OUT ON HER BULLSHIT?? “You’re not a good friend.” Had me deaddddd. The look on Catra’s face said a thousand words.
- Also Catra slowly losing having mental break downs in the Horde was so sad to watch. She’s so alone and doesn’t know how to engage with other people. Whenever she tried to talk to Lonnie, Kyle or Rogelio, she snapped at them and pushed them away.
- When she started to miss Scorpia and look for her my heart broke.
-MARA IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND COMPASSIONATE I LOVE HER!
-Perfuma getting along with Scorpia almost immediately and adding that flower to the back of the vines?? I SHIP SCORFUMA/PERFPIA
- MICAH IS BACK AND OH...HE EATS BUGS.
- Lighthope being the villain-thing all along was kinda sad. You could see that she loved Mara but her programming made it difficult.
- Catra feeling hopeless at the end of fighting Hordak and DT calling her out for not wanting to be bad was poetic cinema. Catra you fucked up and you know it.
- OH SHIT Horde Prime. Oh damn he’s reprogramming Hordak now? And Catra lowkey saving Glimmer was quite the move to protect someone she doesn’t like.
All in all, I really liked this season. Was a little sad that there wasn’t much interaction with Catra and Adora (not just because I ship them) but because after the hectic season 3 finale, we could all tell Adora was done with Catra’s shit. I was hoping we’d see a fight between them but if that was in exchange for character development for other characters like Perfuma and Scorpia then I couldn’t be more happy. I’m happy that everyone is getting their own type of development. It makes the characters richer and the story overall enjoyable.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power S01E10 - The Beacon
Tumblr media
My first thought after reading that title is "oh, the distress beacon Entrapta had in her castle." Maybe that's how they are going to find out she's alive? If it's even something that'll be dealt with this season. If it isn't that... hmm, I'm not sure what else it could be. Maybe something related to Glimmer's blocked powers? Or something related to She-Ra's powers?
I have no idea so let's do this!
Tumblr media
I'm not sure what to think here. While in a practical sense she's right (why group the most important/powerful people in the world in one strike team instead of y'know using actual warfare and soldiers as a distraction), I doubt the show agrees with her.
I'm guessing there's some context that I'm missing, maybe whatever happened to the previous Princess Alliance was in part because they were together?
Tumblr media
Well, this is a cheery way to start the episode.
Tumblr media
Welp, everything they achieved during the season has been completely destroyed. I doubt Glimmer and Adora are going to blame each other but there's definitely going to be some self-blaming. Adora because of her plan, Glimmer for being captured.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oof. Just oof.
Tumblr media
lol at the mood whiplash between heavy emotions and defeat and this op
Tumblr media
Ah, a precious new glimmer face that doesn't involve torture.
Tumblr media
"nevermind, please carry me and let's not talk until next year"
Tumblr media
That hesitance before saying loss is them reading through their Netflix contract figuring out if they can say death or not.
Tumblr media
It's weird how they are both treating Entrapta's loss as serious business but also kinda lightly? I guess it makes sense if we consider no one really knew Entrapta so she's more like a long lost cousin than anything else. I'd still expect more... insistence from Angella though, Entrapta _did_ die saving her daughter.
Tumblr media
Sure.
Tumblr media
This is another one of those cases where I'm both thinking "this is really dumb" but also "it makes a ton of sense." From outside, this is the worst possible decision Glimmer could make right now, Angella has a lot more resources than they have to help her.
But, I completely understand _why_ Glimmer is being like that. It's one more excuse for her mom to keep overprotecting her and trying to escape that has been Glimmer's major motivation this season.
Tumblr media
I have the feeling that recharging is going to make it worse since it means more energy to glitch out.
Tumblr media
Can't believe Undyne Undertale works for the horde.
Tumblr media
secret giggling Catra in the back
Tumblr media
I'm glad that they went this way, with the flip-side of "takes all your credit" being "takes all the blame"
Tumblr media
heeello there entrapta. Wow your death didn't last much at all.
Tumblr media
nice callback to "Didn't you do something like this to relax in the horde?" "Uh, no. We hit things."
This is probably the one way Adora has to manage her stress.
Tumblr media
welp
Tumblr media
Can't believe this show is going to make me feel bad about angella.
Tumblr media
Scorpia is an absolute treasure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now Catra meeting Entrapta in the Princess Ball has a reason. Because she already knows who she is, her first reaction is not to try and attack her but rather just a sigh because well, dealing with entrapta is worth a sigh.
Tumblr media
Huh, that's an interesting tidbit to drop just like that. So Angella is immortal, is _Glimmer_ immortal too? How long has Angella lived? Long enough to have met the first ones?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adora really needs to visit a therapist.
Tumblr media
...ripe? What are they?
Tumblr media
I bet this episode was the one reason they had to make it so high.
Tumblr media
Of course she'd say that, it's a chance to see She-Ra in action _and_ to get healed. Win-win.
Tumblr media
My brain is breaking while trying to figure out how Entrapta's hair works. Wouldn't making that second "tentacle" be enough to make the hair thin enough to escape? If she can make that second tentacle wouldn't it be incredibly easy to just move all her hair out of the shackles?
Tumblr media
It's always refreshing to see "villains" that actually care for each other.
Tumblr media
Catra is really good at manipulating people, probably thanks to Shadow Weaver's example, but the way she's using her own experiences makes it even better/worse.
Tumblr media
Also interesting that they are hiding Entrapta's face.
Tumblr media
The thing with Catra is that I can't tell when she's being honest. I _think_ she's genuinely sympathizing with Entrapta while at the same time planning how to use her. Like with Scorpia, she empathized with her but she also had a reason to do it. I wonder if that duality is going to cause her problems later on.
Tumblr media
oh no, you're making me feel bad about Entrapta now.
Tumblr media
my heart
I'm still thinking about that one picture with her and some robots that seemed to be taking the place of her parents. How many times has she been "left behind"?
Tumblr media
Catra thinks she's being all evil and manipulative while Scorpia in the back is just going "yeah, that sounds right, worked for me"
Tumblr media
I doubt Catra _wants_ to be protected but Scorpia is _such_ a good friend.
Tumblr media
For some reason I don't really mind Entrapta joining the horde, I'm just hoping that they don't take advantage of her. That sounds weird but Scorpia _is_ happy there, why not Entrapta? There's always time for a heel-face turn later on.
Tumblr media
She-Ra being a dork with super powers is one of the best parts of her entire character.
Tumblr media
Can't wait to see Glimmer turned into a rainbow.
Tumblr media
I'm never going to get sick of this joke.
Tumblr media
Interesting. So the Horde doesn't know about the first ones? That seems wrong. I'm guessing they are actively blocking info about it and they actually want to destroy it.
Tumblr media
Oh, the tower. With three episodes left maybe the finale is going to be there?
Tumblr media
Yeah, I love this joke.
Tumblr media
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. Even if it's true, that still gets an "ugh" from me, especially after that "I won't apologize" line.
Tumblr media
Wait, what? Protect Bow? Oooooh, is Bow supposed to be her bodyguard?
Tumblr media
I didn't expect the self-blame party to include Bow.
Tumblr media
What with princesses liking arson. First RWBY and now She-Ra.
Tumblr media
She's trying so hard to reconnect. I'm not a parent myself (thankfully) but I think everyone can at least understand the struggle to understand and connect with someone who seems to be pulling away.
Glimmer has some valid reasons to be doing it (teenager + being overprotected is a pretty bad combination) but I can't fault Angella too much for trying to do everything she can.
Of course, like most problems, it could get solved by talking, maybe this dinner is a chance?
Tumblr media
Oof.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow.
I knew Glimmer had some issues with her self-esteem but damn, I didn't expect _this_. I guess this is the disadvantage of having an immortal parent who's also a queen. High expectations to live up to, self-imposed or not.
Tumblr media
Daaaaaaaamn. Was it in battle or did Micah die rescuing her? It'd be an interesting parallel to Glimmer's kidnapping.
And, I hadn't really thought about this but, Micah being dead is a pretty good reason for Angella's "helicopter mom" tendencies.
Tumblr media
Oooooooh, that's worse than I thought. And it explains why she's been mostly reactive in the war with Glimmer being the one who wants to take a more active role.
Tumblr media
I'm still curious about what exactly happened in that battle and afterward. Have we heard how long was the first alliance? I can't remember, but it has to be less than 20 years ago considering Glimmer's age (unless she's also immortal and 300 years old)
Are Netossa and Spinerella also immortal? That'd explain why they look the same in the mural.
Tumblr media
Aw, that got me teary-eyed a bit. It's probably not the end of their problems but they've at least started talking.
Tumblr media
Lots of guilt all around
Tumblr media
I was going to say "WHY DID YOU THROW AWAY THE SWORD" but there it is.
Tumblr media
Vulnerability seems to be the theme of this episode. Or rather, choosing to be vulnerable or not.
The alliance is gone, Entrapta’s death is too much to bear and the princesses choose to all return to their own respective kingdoms, literally closing themselves off the world in the case of Frosta and Mermista.
We don’t see what happens with them afterward but everything that follows is about how that seems to be the worst choice to make.
Entrapta decides to help Catra not because she’s evil or wants revenge but because she finally feels understood. Would she have turned so easily if she _really_ believed in her new friends? How long has she lived alone in that castle? How many times has she been left behind or branded a problem because of her behavior? Sure, she usually acts like she doesn‘t care but that doesn‘t mean it‘s true.
Catra’s intentions are definitely not pure but she’s speaking from her own experiences and that’s enough to make the princess relate to her.
The opposite happens with Shadow Weaver. She refuses to be vulnerable and apologize, choosing to feed Catra a line with how it was all to prepare her. All this achieves is to alienate her further.
On the other side of the war, Glimmer spends the entire episode trying to avoid her mom, but it’s only after her insecurities explode and Angella opens up with her own that they can start mending their relationship and fix Glimmer’s glitching.
Adora is the clearest example, it takes dropping her defenses and revealing her self-doubt to herself and the world before the forest lets her through to the Beacon.
The best thing about all of this is that the episode didn’t beat me over the head with the “moral” of the episode. Besides Perfuma’s words, it’s all in how the characters act and the consequences. It has faith in the viewer to get it and that’s pretty neat.
Some jumbled thoughts:
* I’m not a big fan of diagnosing characters of real-life stuff but I wonder if Entrapta was written to be neurodivergent on purpose instead of just being an excuse to make her funny/frustrating.
* Bow seems to be the only one handling things more or less okay (even before they talk things out) but who knows, maybe he’s bottling it all up to explode in the future.
* I’m trying to guess what will happen next. They have to heal Glimmer and fix up the Alliance but neither of those things seems finale worthy. Maybe Angella is going to attack the Horde? There’s also the question of what’s going to happen with Adora and Catra, maybe another vision revealing more of what it all means?
* How long before the Princesses find out that Entrapta is alive? It’s probably going to be pretty sad, twice. First, when they find out they abandoned her in enemy territory and second when they realize she doesn’t want to go back with them.
I think that’s all for now, until next time!

Coffeeshop Au
She-Ra coffeeshop au because I said so:
Everyone works at one of two shops: Hoard or Princess Alliance
At the very beginning, it shows Adora, a normal human, and her friend Catra (everyone looks the same, has the same powers) in the breakroom chatting, and then they switch shifts with Kyle, Rogilio and whatever her name is- I can’t remember-
Yay! You get to meet Shadow Weaver, who is being very rude to the girls because her coffee was too hot (and also because Catra made it and no one is allowed to make her coffee except Adora)
Adora ends up missing a day and gets fired, which is immediately met with distaste from Shadow Weaver
Adora gets a new job at The Princess Alliance
Quickly becomes friends with Glimmer and Bow, but Glimmer’s mom, the owner of the cute shop, is less happy with her, as she looks like a gangster
Catra has mixed feelings about Adora not being at work, as she is now able to get promoted to manager beside Scorpia, but also she doesn’t see Adora like, ever, anymore
Adora’s aunt, Mara, died recently, and LightHope, Mara’s wife, came over to give Adora a charm with the words She-Ra carved in the side.
Adora promises to visit the farm and see LightHope soon
With the knowledge that she has a bit of her mother figure still with her, Adora throws herself into baking, creating her newest pastry: She-Ra
Was named after the charm!
It is the best thing anyone has ever tasted. They sell out quick, and become Adora’s special (All the princess’ have specials, they’re at the bottom of the post)
Aight, so Entrapta misses a couple days, didn’t call in sick, and was fired
Immediately picked up by Hoard and now has a new job! Stuck with Catra and Scorpia until Catra got promoted
Afterwards she met Hordak, and they started talking
and then they started flirting in their cute roundabout way
Hordak had to leave for a few days because Imp needed to go to the hospital, he left Catra in charge (She’s manager anyway, but now she had free reign)
With Double Trouble’s help, Catra made a fake resigning form for Entrapta while firing her
While this is going on, everyone gets word about Prime Restaurant chain wanting to set up in the area. Hordak would like to sell his shop for them, but first he needs to get another place to set up (He only decides this after he comes back, and he needs something to do after learning that someone he thought he had a connection with just left)
Entrapta hasn’t really let it sink in that she’s unemployed. Goes to get a coffee from a starbucks nearby, name and coffee get mixed up with someone named Micah. (Think when she stole his bug)
Start talking, then bow and Adora just speed walk into the shop like, “Hey Entrapta, would you like to be hired for Princess Alliance again?”
(Bow is also kinda like “Hey wtf, is that you, Micah?” And Micah’s like, “Hey, Bow, is that you?”)
And Entrapta’s like, “Hired? Oh, uh sorry, I have to- oh.” and its suddenly sinking in that she doesn’t work at Hoard anymore and (excuse me if this isn’t what would actually happen but it happened not to long ago so I’m just giving it to Entrapta rn) she is kinda just moving around and kinda just trying to get away from anything touching her because it all just feels horrible against her skin and shiz
and she just kinda goes “Yes, I’d like to be hired, but please leave me alone right now, I’d like to not be touched,” and so Bow and Adora kind of hesitantly go away and Micah stays walking her through her (I don’t know what this is. Touch aversion? A mild panic attack? A depressive episode?)
Anyway, cut away, and now we see Adora and Bow sitting on the roof of the cafe. Talking, thinking about life, doing a bit of college homework. Adora is playing with her charm, and then she drops it and it shatters. Obviously, she’s freaking out, that’s the only thing she has of Mara and it means so freaking much to her
Bow is trying to help and is gathering up the shards, and finds a little piece of paper among it all. Adora reads it and completely breaks down crying. No one knows what it says but her (which is to say I don’t know what it says)
Takes a break for a couple days, going to LightHope, her aunt, and
(In this time, Entrapta has reluctantly gone back to work, Micah has procrastinated around seeing his ex-wife and daughter, Angela has packed up for a plane trip, Hordak is having trouble finding another place to set up shop, and Prime restaurant chain is moving in)
Adora comes back with a new fire and an upgrade to her She-ra pastry, tastes even better now
Micah finally got the courage to go see his family, only to find out that Angela had just left for a trip that morning. (They get the news that the plane had an accident and Angela didn’t survive later in the evening)
Afterwards, Glimmer moves out of the cafe, finding it to be too empty. This leaves the top floor of the cafe completely open. She’s living with Bow and Adora now!
Scorpia, a panicking second manager of Hoard cafe, is juggling running the cafe, keeping Catra in check and finding a new place
Double Trouble, as is their job for the owner, finally fills out their form on what had happened while Hordak was away. He finally learns that Entrapta didnt leave him.
Scorpia goes to the Princess Alliance and tells them that she heard their top floor was open. She’s desperate
It takes a few times to get them to agree, but the Princess Alliance realize that there’s no point in fighting like this. After a few more hours of haggling with the cost, Scorpia turns to leave
She comes back after a couple seconds. “Um, actually, is Entrapta here?”
Scorpia and Entrapta come back into Hoard cafe, chatting. Hordak walks out of the back, holding Imp. Entrapta looks over and sees him. She just jumps him, helping both of them stay up and holding Imp with her hair.
“Did you hear the news?” She laughs
Scorpia jumps in, telling Hordak how they found a place for the shop to go; right above the Princess Alliance. Entrapta is really helping Scorpia sell it, but Catra is getting upset.
“No! We’re enemies or whatever, right? We shouldn’t be sharing space with them!”
Hordak has already given his okay. “I’m sure we’ll be able to become closer, Catra, it should be alright.”
Catra is extremely reluctant about all of this, but while they’re setting up in the top area, she’s beginning to rekindle her friendship with Adora. (And also maybe feeling like at some point her feelings had stopped being just platonic. She has no clue when this happened.)
Scorpia is doing pretty well with taking boxes of stuff up, and after a while they figure out that the dark aesthetic won’t be working well side by side with the pastel fluff that is the Princess Alliance. So Scorpia says they change it up a bit. So she goes downstairs and, “Is anyone free right now?”
It’s Perfuma that looks over. “Oh! Yes, I am!”
Scorpia gives a little smile. “Great! We need some design help and we were wondering..”
With a happy gasp, Perfuma hangs up her apron and walks upstairs. Perfuma is made for this. After being told that they’d like to keep the general dark aesthetic, she says that giving it that certain quiet feel, very unlike the loud chatter that comes from downstairs, students will likely want to come by to study
It’s a hit. A few plants with calming aromas, gifted by Perfuma herself, and some teas that help with stress made by Scorpia, students are running in. It’s generally very quiet here, and it’s really helping the stress that the employees go under too!
Scorpia and Perfuma may or may not have gotten closer in a romantic sense because of this-
Catra and Adora are also getting closer, friends first, then girlfriends. It’s quite the trip for everyone else in the shop.
Entrapta and Hordak are basically just parents to Imp now, and Imp’s only job at this point is to make fun of Hordak for having a crush. It is a romantic relationship, yes
At some point the the Hoard and Princess Alliance become one place with two names. Menu is the same on both floors and anyone can be a waiter at whichever floor they like.
Just a few things that exist but aren’t really plot relevant:
Hordak has anger issues and trouble understanding his feelings
Hordak has weak bones in his arms specifically
Imp is Hordak’s nephew who he ended up adopting after Imp’s parents died
Hordak and Entrapta both like working with robotics
Entrapta is making a project to support Hordak’s weak arms in order to help him do things. Talking with his doctor to figure out what’s safe and such
Frosta is Glimmer’s cousin who has been given the okay to volunteer at the cafe. She comes and goes as she pleases and whether or not you get a Frosta special depends on whether she’s in or not
Time for the specials!
Entrapta’s: Donut holes. Her special is a pack of donut holes that are literally the best you’ve ever tasted. Your pack has one of each flavor and they are made with such care- just- No special drink for her though
Perfuma: Mango hibiscus clementine cold tea. I have had it before. It tastes really freaking good. She always grows a little flower for you to eat and puts it on top. The texture of the flower is nice, and the petals are sweet. The food portion is a fruit salad with flower petals sprinkled on top!
Frosta: Icecream sunday! And slushie! No one knows what exactly goes into the flavoring on top, but it tastes really good and Frosta promises it’s safe for all allergies she knows of. Makes sure to ask about any allergies though, just in case!
Mermista: It’s a small cake. Has this general water/beach vibe! Drink changes from day to day. Always an iced coffee though!
Glimmer: Cupcakes!! The inside of the cupcake has a small portion of sprinkles. Very sweet, too sweet for some. Pastel smoothie too! Family recipe, shared between Angela and Glimmer. Has sprinkles littered on top of a nice helping of whipped cream! Very glittery
Angela: Called the heart of Etheria. Not one single person knows what it’s classified as, and only Glimmer and Angela know how to make it. It’s heavenly
No more specials (Scorpia doesn’t work at Princess Alliance)
Micah and Angela had a divorce when Glimmer was young. It wasn’t because they disliked each other or anything, just, Micah learned that he was aromantic and felt a little bit uncomfortable with the marriage. They broke it off as friends and lived under the same house- like, it was all exactly the same, except they didn’t have the title of husband and wife
Then Micah had to go away because he found a job somewhere else and they ended up loosing contact
Swiftwind lives on the farm with LightHope
Catra and Adora are childhood friends who had the same Preschool teacher: Shadow Weaver
Angela lives on the second floor of the cafe with Glimmer
Entrapta has a roomba and she’s taken to it the way tumblr has
Entrapta has a tiny Emily that she made with Hordak’s help at a robotics workshop
Adora lived with Catra and moved to share an apartment with Bow afterwards
Shadow Weaver may or may not have died shoving Catra and Adora out of the way of a car that was driving on the sidewalk
There are fricking huge windows looking out on the street for both floors and on the other side of the street is a grassy park, so it’s really nice.

She-Ra season 2 episodes, ranked
All right, I have a lot of feelings about She-Ra season 2 and what was good and not so good. I’ve been doing a lot of shitposting but this is legit analysis/meta, or at least it wants to be.
To be fair, though I’m trying to rank these as objectively as possible, it will be influenced by what I care most about and find most interesting in the series. I stan Catra and the Superpal Trio and think Adora is a loveable mess, and I really can’t stand Swift Wind. So, take this with a grain of salt. Needless to say, SPOILERS AHEAD.
7. 2x03 “Signals”
I would rank this episode higher, except the A plot was so meh. It felt like it should have been a Halloween special, and if it was I’d give it a pass, but I found it so thoroughly disinteresting I all but tuned out. Of course, people who stan the Best Friend Squad might have still loved it, but their dynamic isn’t as interesting for me anymore because we’ve seen so much of it, and this episode didn’t do much to change it other than add Swift Wind in (and he really, really annoys me). The only real thing it did to move the plot forward was introduce the subplot about the mysterious transmissions, and it didn’t do anything characterization wise. Ultimately, it’s a set up episode, and to be fair it might be more interesting in retrospect once we get some payoff and see where that whole thing is going. But I dunno, I kinda doubt it.
It’s mostly a set up episode in the other subplots too, but I enjoyed watching the political machinations in the Horde because there were real, tangible stakes and important power shifts. Catra learning that having power and authority is not all it’s cracked up to be was a crucial bit of character development. That bit of her getting the air sucked out of her lungs was more genuinely scary than the creepy ghost holograms by far. You felt her desperation trying to save face with Hordak and regain her sense of power and safety after that terrifying threat, and watching Shadow Weaver tune in to and play with her insecurities was a good bit of development for and insight into their relationship. It also foreshadows how easily Shadow Weaver is able to manipulate Catra later in the season.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Entrapta’s excursions and work with Hordak supplied some comic relief (which I think the A plot also tried and failed to do) and also made the Horde plot take an interesting turn. This is the episode where Catra really starts to lose power, and meanwhile Entrapta gains a lot without even meaning to. She just wanted to fix the problem with Hordak’s experiment, dear girl. On that note, I did not expect to enjoy watching Hordak and Entrapta so much, but one thing this show does really well is throw together unexpected combinations of characters and make an amazing dynamic (e.g. the Superpal Trio, Scorpia and Seahawk, Catra and Glimmer and Bow).
The Entrapta subplot was the most interesting of the episode and unfortunately it was relegated to the C plot. This episode would have been way better if they’d put more focus on the Horde side of things and/or given the “Best Friend Quad” something with more substance.
6. 2x01 “The Frozen Forest”
This episode was fine, but it didn’t do much to stand out. It was important, of course, to follow up on the end of season 1, and if they had skipped this episode entirely it would have left a huge gap. But with the two main groups of characters not interacting at all in person, there was little reason to be emotionally invested in the fight scenes. We don’t really care if Horde bots get destroyed. It would have been more interesting to see the Superpal Trio directly fighting the Princess Alliance, but on the other hand it did set up just how big a role Entrapta’s tech knowledge was going to play this season. The stuff with the princess alliance was cute, I always enjoy seeing more of Mermista, and they did some character work (which I can always appreciate) with Glimmer and Frosta. But since we only see the princesses once more this season, it hasn’t had much of a chance to pay off yet.
Tumblr media
The highlight of this episode was Adora fighting Catra in the simulation and her ensuing conversation with Light Hope. (“There. There.” and “I also have buttons” were two of my favorite one-liners of the season.) The simulated fight was very cute, and I definitely screamed when Catra grabbed Adora’s hand while delivering her customary “Hey Adora,” right before taking her down. And look, the fact that Catra was flirting so hard with Adora in that simulation means that an AI with very poor social awareness has picked up on their sexual/romantic tension, and that’s hilarious.
The Horde side of things gave us more time with the Superpal Trio, who are always delightful, but not a ton happened over there either. This episode established that Entrapta has fully moved in to the Fright Zone and Catra is comfortably leading the Horde’s advances and has respect from Hordak and the Horde’s soldiers. It also foreshadows how impressed Hordak is going to become with Entrapta’s work (and unimpressed with Catra’s) when her EKS bots steal the show in that meeting. Finally, the episode introduced the shifted dynamic between Catra and Shadow Weaver now that the power position has flipped. That ongoing subplot was possibly the saddest part of the season, and this one scene did a good job of setting that up.
Overall, this was a good and necessary setup episode, but because it had all that exposition and setup to do we didn’t get a ton of good character/relationship moments (Frosta/Glimmer and Catra/Shadow Weaver being the notable exceptions). So yeah, it was fine. But there were definitely stronger episodes, which we will now get into...
5. 2x04 “Roll With It”
This was a very cute episode, a fun one to watch. The reason I ranked it fifth is because there are three very strong episodes this season and 2x07 had higher stakes, being the season (mid-season, lbr) finale. On the Horde side of things, I loved seeing more of Lonnie, Kyle, and Rogelio. Lonnie really shined this episode and I keep waiting for someone to realize how smart and capable she is and promote her. And of course, Scorpia. Darling oblivious Scorpia who just wants to impress her crush. She’s not very smart but she’s earnest af and can pack a punch, and this is the first episode where she really stands out.
The planning session in the rebellion camp was really fun to watch, though I’m sure I missed a ton of jokes because I’ve never played D&D. The chaotic way the princesses all play off each other was more evident here than in 2x01, which made for some great gags. The different approaches they each take and the different aninmation styles used to portray them were a lot of fun. Glimmer’s noir hero fantasies were my favorite, personally. (And apparently she sees Catra as a very sexy villain? I need more on this, please.)
Tumblr media
Adora’s monologue about the worst possible secenario revealed all her insecurities, and it was one of the highlights of the season. Her anxiety issues and messiah complex have been touched on before many times, but this is the first time they’ve really come bubbling to the surface this season. It was really nice to see the whole group reassure her that she isn’t in this alone, much like Bow and Glimmer did before the Battle of Bright Moon. And while it’s been hinted at before, this episode really solidified her obsession with Catra. And Scorpia’s too, as I mentioned above.
It’s easy to forget that Catra wasn’t actually in this episode (AJ Michalka was, but her character was not, not for real) because you felt her presence everywhere. The bit with all the princesses’ different renditions of her was hilarious. But you know, it was nice to see the show put together such a strong episode without Catra. Having the emotional focus on Adora again was a nice change of pace.
4. 2x07 “Reunion”
This episode gave us what 2x03 lacked: it made the Best Friend Squad interesting again. That group is most compelling to watch when there’s conflict among them, like in the stretches of 1x01-1x02 and 1x08-1x10. They weren’t in an actual fight this time, but Glimmer and Adora being so thrown by Bow’s secret family life meant that things didn’t feel “as usual.” Glimmer’s insecurity about not meaning that much to Bow resurfaced, and Bow’s “coming out” scene was extremely moving. But thankfully there was comic relief, too. Adora mispronouncing words to try and sound scholarly was a great ongoing gag, and the eventual fight between the Best Friend Squad and the elemental was really fun because it was so chaotic with Bow’s dads being extremely confused.
Tumblr media
Okay and look, Bow’s dads. Finally we get to see why Bow is the most well-adjusted person in the group. His parents aren’t perfect, but they did way less to fill their kids with insecurities than Angella or Shadow Weaver. Angella’s not a bad mom but it’s easy to see why Glimmer feels so inadequate. And Shadow Weaver is, well, Shadow Weaver.
This episode was sort of oddly structured for what is essentially a mid-season finale in the sense that the A plot was about relationships more than the overarching plot, but that’s not necessarily bad. And they tied the plot back in at the end with the reveal about the Crimson Waste, setting us up to finally move forward in this transmissions subplot in season 3.
Tumblr media
There wasn’t a lot of time for Horde stuff this episode, but Scorpia forcibly loving Catra and turning her into a burrito was one of my favorite scenes of the season (maybe I will do a Top 10 later on). Catra opening up to Scorpia about her problems for the second episode in a row was huge, especially after experiencing a heart-shattering betrayal in the previous episode. Catra’s final scene where she gets exposed as a liar and choked out felt a bit truncated to me... like after they set that up as this terrifying threat in 2x03, they lingered a lot less in the terror of that moment in this episode. So that was kind of disappointing, but it still worked well as half of the cliffhanger (the weaker half, imo, but it was still extremely nerve-wracking).
It was hard to pick between #4 and 5 on this list, but ultimately the amazing cliffhanger was what put this one over the top. Both our protagonists are in danger, at the mercy of our two worst villains, and even though I knew what was coming as soon as I saw Adora sleeping, the shot of Shadow Weaver standing over her bed made me scream. I hate this show for leaving me hanging here, so they did it right.
3. 2x02 “Ties That Bind”
Ranking this one so high may be an unpopular opinion, but I personally loved this episode. I didn’t care much for the B plot except it was good insight into Adora, but the A plot was so delightful it made up for it. Mixing members of the Superpal Trio and Best Friend Squad almost always results in something good... maybe not for the characters, but for the audience. Watching Catra and Glimmer play off each other’s insecurites was great, and it was sweet watching Bow attempting to befriend Catra, just like he did with Adora. The conflict between him and Glimmer about how to treat their hostage felt very in-character, a good callback to the beginning of season 1.
Of course, Catra is a much more annoying hostage than Adora was. Her being a little shit and doing everything she could to get on their nerves was amazing, and I would have gladly watched a full hour episode just of that. The sassiness and manipulation we see from her in this episode balances nicely with the deep emotional stuff she goes through this season in her fight to win approval and prove her worth. It also produced my favorite joke of the season: “How are you such a nightmare?!?”/”Eh, years of practice.” I felt that in my soul as a youngest child. I also loved all the cat mannerisms they incorporated in this episode, it was very cute.
Tumblr media
There is a bit of emotional meat to that story, with Catra and Glimmer’s confrontation at the end after Glimmer says Adora ran away from Catra, not the Horde (rude, btw). But the real emotional moment comes when Bow and Glimmer find out Entrapta stayed willingly with the Horde. That was heart-breaking. Heart-shattering, even. Especially because Bow and Glimmer feel such guilt for her being left there in the first place. I wish there had been more follow-up on this major emotional beat, but that’s not a weakness of this episode itself. This was my favorite Entrapta scene of the season, even though there were a lot of other great ones.
Like I said, the B plot was... okay, but not amazing? The bits with Light Hope glitching were funny, if a bit creepy. (But she’s always creepy, so.) Swift Wind annoys the hell out of me when he’s being hyper, but seeing his eventual heart-to-heart with Adora gave him some good depth and development. Plus, this episode does a really good job of illustrating not only how uptight Adora is, but why. There’s that messiah complex again (which I don’t blame her for btw, that’s Shadow Weaver’s fault). I like episodes that focus on Adora emotionally, and separating her from Glimmer and Bow meant her storyline got to be a bit more serious and in-depth. I just wish it hadn’t been opposite Swift Wind... not because it wasn’t effective, but because Adora’s arc was good but I have little desire to rewatch it if it means I have to watch more of him. Sorry, I guess I’m an anti.
2. 2x05 “White Out”
As I’ve said before, this episode is the highlight of season 2. Once again, that has a lot to do with the dynamics that occur whenever we mix members of the Best Friend Squad and Superpal Trio, and this time we got all of them in one place! And they added Seahawk to the mix too, which I didn’t expect to like because he tends to get on my nerves, but pairing him with Scorpia was a move of pure brilliance.
Scorpia and Sea Hawk’s little heart-to-heart about feeling unappreciated and Drunk Adora validating and encouraging them was so so cute and heartwarming. All the Drunk Adora and Scorpia stuff was great, actually. It was funny but also made very textual how much Catradora is an insecurity for Scorpia and how she’s afraid she’ll never be able to live up to that and Catra will never open up to her the same way. And Adora actually seems to genuinely like Scorpia when she’s not focused on the evils of the Horde, so that’s good to know moving forward. And yeah, that pairing also brought us “Girls night in!” and the closet joke, another highlight of the season.

In the other mixed grouping, Catra and Glimmer renewed their rivalry, and that’s always fun to watch. Entrapta continued to be her usual chaotic self, and any time we see her interacting with Bow it tends to be a great scene. The reveal at the end that she had the tech all along but didn’t tell Catra because she liked hanging out in this remote place with her friends was really, really cute.
I would be amiss to not mention the Catradora of it all in this episode, because holy shit this is actually the only time they interact in person all season. That is just wrong, by the way, but I did thoroughly enjoy what we got. It’s very clear they still have an emotional hold over each other despite their attempts to “let go,” between Adora’s overly-focused anger and Catra’s expressions whenever she hears or sees Adora. Adora actually kind of hates Catra right now and I think that caught Catra off guard. Catra’s panic when Evil She-Ra almost killed her was a great moment of vulnerability, how she tried to appeal to the Adora inside. She dropped the act for a moment and genuinely tried to connect with Adora, and maybe it made me tear up a little.
Along those same lines, the one thing that pissed me off about this episode was that we didn’t get to see Catra interacting with Drunk Adora. That would have allowed Adora to interact with Catra in a vulnerable state too, and in general it just would have been amazing. And the trailer kinda suggested we would get to see that, so that made it extra disappointing. Can’t these two just talk about their feelings and actually hear each other and communicate properly, please? Ugh. Still, despite these frustrations, I loved the Catradora content.

But the real highlight of the episode was Scorptra. The scene where Scorpia tried to ask Catra out on a date was amazing and so freaking cute. Of course there’s also the stuff I mentioned where her insecurities about Adora came spilling out. And the look on Catra’s face when Scorpia aborted a mission to save her life and then whisked her away despite her protests... that was a huge moment. She doesn’t think of herself as worth saving, but someone else does. And despite the fact that Scorpia disobeyed direct orders, I think this is where Catra really comes to trust her. It’s certainly where she comes to respect her. And then they shared a blanket! God, this was so cute. I expected to enjoy the Catradora stuff more but a) there wasn’t all that much of it and b) this was so incredibly pure and sweet, watching Scorpia finally make some headway and Catra finally open up to someone again, even if it was only a little bit. I am a multi-shipper now, I can’t help it.
1. 2x06 “Light Spinner”
It was hard choosing between this and White Out for top spot, but I’m a slut for villain backstories. This episode was the less entertaining of the two, and I think I’d have to say White Out is my subjective favorite, but objectively I do think this is the better episode. Why? Character development.
Shadow Weaver was a bit too twirly-moustache of a villain at times in season 1, so seeing how she became what she is now did a lot for her character. Seeing how a desire to do good mixing with a thirst for power can drive someone to make mistakes and turn evil was very interesting, and having Micah be part of the backstory made it all the more compelling.
The ways Shadow Weaver tries to mold people with more intrinsic power than her so she can use that power was a crucial new insight, one we’ve never seen before. It explains why she’s so obessed with Adora, which was never really explained in season 1. And it also suggests that part of Shadow Weaver’s dislike for Catra came from Adora’s connection to and therefore influence over her. Shadow Weaver wanted Adora’s loyalty to be to her above all, even above the Horde, and Adora having a close friend (who’s a rebellious loose cannon, to boot) was a danger to that goal.

This episode is essentially about Shadow Weaver and Catra, both separately and together, and it does a great job of drawing parallels between them even before Shadow Weaver outright tells Catra that they are the same. They both go off on a rant about how no matter what they do, no one listens to or respects them. Shadow Weaver seems to have a bit of a self-loathing streak that she took out on Catra, too... kinda like Glimmer being annoyed by all her worst qualities manifesting in Frosta.
As for Catra, it shocked me that she was so upset about Shadow Weaver being sent away to die. Though she obviously still craved Shadow Weaver’s approval, I didn’t expect her to react so badly to this. Clearly Scorpia didn’t either, and her trying to tease Catra’s reasons out of her was sweet. It was nice to see Catra continuing to open up to Scorpia after that moment with the blanket at the end of White Out, but there’s still a lot she’s holding inside. She still genuinely cares about Shadow Weaver despite how she’s been trying to hurt her for revenge and her own satisfaction... that sound familiar?
And unfortunately, Catra’s connection to Shadow Weaver and her need for maternal love and approval was her downfall. After she mocked the rebellion for their bleeding hearts and how easily manipulated they are, mind you. This is where Catra’s tendency to sympathize with Shadow Weaver (which we saw at least twice in season 1) finally came back to bite her in the ass. It was terribly sad because Catra actually has a big heart and Shadow Weaver knew that and took advantage of it.

It’s hard to say how much Shadow Weaver meant of what she said to Catra when they had their big confrontation. It wasn’t clear whether or not she had seen her badge hidden in the food, whether she was only trying to manipulate Catra or if she was being earnest about any of it. Was the physical affection she gave her genuine, her way of making up for things and saying goodbye, or was she just fucking with Catra? I dunno, but either way this betrayal she pulled was awful, and if she was trying to be nice she would’ve been better off holding Catra at a distance than letting her get her hopes up. For real, Catra’s reaction when she realized Shadow Weaver had used and betrayed her was gut-wrenching, one of the rawest moments we’ve seen from her. I might have cried, a lot. She let herself be vulnerable in a way she rarely does, and for that she got absolutely obliterated emotionally. Again.
So yeah, this wasn’t a particularly fun episode, but it was a very strong episode of television and it did a lot to make Shadow Weaver more fleshed out and interesting. It finally brought one of the show’s most fraught relationships into the spotlight and let it combust in front of us, and as painful as it was to watch, I can’t help rewatching the Catra and Shadow Weaver scenes again and again. I never expected Catra to so openly ask Shadow Weaver why she was never good enough for her and what she did to deserve all the abuse. It was an incredibly rewarding scene to watch with great emotional payoff. And for a stan like me, that made it the best episode of the season.
