He’s a chaotic mess and he’s just full of so basically a background story is demigods in general are supposed to have ADHD and dyslexia, but even for a demigod, Leo is off the ADHD charts, you get the idea. (He built a freaking flying ship and used a Nintendo switch controller to control it) he’s also a bit of a dork and awkward at first or at times so I think you have that covered and he’s a son of a Hephaestus (the builder/forging God from Greek mythology) and he literally has fire powers so if you like fire, he’s your guy. I think he would totally sit down and write goofy things with you or sketch little doodles with you as he’s often sketching and his own notebook not drawings as much but more outlines for building things but good luck trying to bake with him because it’s just going to end up being a huge flour fight.

Normally, the Marauder is what you would consider somewhat quiet. Other than the sound of the ship's life support systems and engines humming, Wrecker snoring, Tech rolling around in his bunk; Or Omega fiddling with something when she should be asleep. Usually Hunter scolds her once he hears, but now she's asleep for real this time.

You and Hunter had swapped spots not a long while ago, him taking watch in the cockpit while you travel through hyperspace. You've been drifting close to sleep ever since, head smushed into the pillow as you listen to the Marauder's unique lullaby. Sometimes it's ungodly annoying, other times you can't sleep without it.

Something does end up waking you up fully however, at least enough so to notice the soft 'creakkkk' of metal adjusting, and the rustling of fabric somewhere close by the bunk you're in.

You rise up into a sitting position and look around, trying to see if the source is easily visible. By doing so you notice that Echo is awake; Sitting on the edge of his bunk slouched over. His elbows are pressed into his thighs, and he seems to be just looking off into space at nothing in particular.

At first you assume he's just letting his legs stretch, or perhaps he's going to get up and take a walk around as he does sometimes; Maybe get something to drink. So satisfied you figured it out you lay back down and close your eyes, attempting to get a small bit more shuteye. But you don't fall asleep right away, and when you open your eyes again, you notice he's still sitting in the same spot.

Sitting up again you throw your legs over the side and quietly put them to the floor, taking a few steps forward before you're standing partly in front of Echo.

"Hey," You quietly say, watching as he looks up at you seeming almost surprised. Was he really so deep in thought that he hadn't heard you?

"Hey yourself. Shouldn't you be asleep?" The smile you give him is small, but there none the less.

"I could say the same to you. Something up?" Your eyebrows raise before you glance down towards his thighs. "Legs hurt?" You know he has trouble with them sometimes- the aches or sharp pains, phantom limbs- even if he tries to be quiet about it.

"No, it's not that." He rubs the spot just underneath the back of his jaw.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." He shakes his head, removing the hand from his neck.

"No, it's not that I don't want to tell you." The lights in the Marauder are dimmed down, leaving some of the lit controls and the safety lights lining the floor the main source of light. They shine against his features, lighting his soft amber eyes just enough that you can see them glance away from you for a moment.

"It's just-" He stops, trying to figure out a way to word his thoughts.

"I can't sleep. Anytime I close my eyes I'm, back there."

Oh. He's been having nightmares. You know enough about Skako Minor to be completely understanding of the fact. It's just to hear that they're still plaguing him...

You take a seat on the edge of the bunk beside him, a small amount of space between both of your arms. You don't want to push yourself onto him, and make if feel like he has to accept your help or else you'll be upset, but you also just want him to know you're here- if he needs it. That you'll always be here for him.

Echo is... It's very clear that you two are more than friends. You don't know when the feelings between the two of you changed, but they have- and you two have just gone with the flow ever since. So you want to help him, in any way you can. Seeing him like this makes your heart ache.

"Would me staying here with you help? So you're not alone?" Echo contemplates for a moment.

"I," It seems like he wants to refuse, but his actual need overrides his want to not be obtrusive. "Yes, please." His voice is raspy and tired. He's probably not gotten any sleep in a few days now, if it's this obvious.

You wait for him to lay back down first, before doing the same right in front of him. Echo now has his back against the wall, with his chest pressing against your own back, but only just barely. When he feels your leg bump into one of his own and move it slightly, he shifts it away.

He's laying down technically, but he feels stiff as a board. Like he doesn't want to pass some sort of boundary. There is no way he's going to sleep comfortably like this. Flipping over to be chest to chest with him he looks at you confused, but before he can say anything, you shuffle upward until his head is about level with your collarbone, pulling him closer so you can wrap an arm around his shoulders.

It's an almost instant difference; As he slips an arm over your waist to hold you closer. Your legs tangle together, and Echo absolutely melts in the feeling of just being held. He feels your hand on the back of his neck, and within a few minutes, he's finally asleep.

It's after a few hours of the lights being dimmed in the ship, in an attempt to make sleep even just that little bit easier, that Hunter decides to wake everyone up. He's been watching the ship for the past hour or two, so he'd gotten his needed rest not too long ago.

Getting up from the pilot's seat with a quiet grunt he rubs the back of his head, walking towards the back of the ship. Tech is technically awake, though still sitting in his bunk working on something he can't quite see from this angle. Tech often refuses to move location once he starts something and so he ends up rooted in weird places for long portions of time. Wrecker and Omega are still asleep, however.

Hunter takes one look around and notices that you're still asleep as well, but Echo isn't in anywhere to be seen.

Or at least he thinks- until he looks a little closer and just barely sees the top of his head poking out from the edge of the thin blanket, his face at level with your chest. The two of you are still out cold, and knowing Echo has trouble with such things, he decides to not wake you both up for the time being.

Walking over to Wrecker he jostles him away, only to get told off.

"Hey! What's the big-" Hunter shushes him near instantly.

"Quiet," He points over to the both of you. "They're still sleeping." Wrecker gets up and curiously peers his head at the two of you, barely noticing Echo in the same way Hunter had. Wrecker however is significantly more happy about it, trying not to laugh.

He's happy Echo's found a comfortable place with you, even if in his excitement he almost ruins it. He knows that Echo has troubles sometimes, even if he doesn't always admit them.

"Go get Omega. I'll get some rations out and make sure we're still on track." Wrecker nods, and starts to quietly make his way towards the gun nest, while Hunter turns to walk towards the cockpit.

Before either of them make it too far however, Tech's tools suddenly slip off his lap and clatter all over the floor, waking even the dead themselves. He peers over the edge of the bunk looking at them, current project still in his lap.

"Tech!" Hunter yells, watching him slide off the bunk to pick them up. Meanwhile your eyes are wide, startled awake from the noise. Echo was as well, though he has to push the blanket further down in order to see what's happened over your ribcage and arm.

"There is no need to yell, I am already picking them-" Tech takes a look to his right, and notices Echo's location.

"Oh, there you are. I was wondering where you were. Do you mind helping me calibrate something?" Echo's blurry, sleepy eyes stare at Tech, his mouth slightly agape as he smacks his sleep dried lips.

"What? No..." Tech finishes picking up his things. "Ah, well then." He voices his subtle irritation, while Hunter just rubs his brow.

Echo suddenly grabs the edge of the blanket and tugs it harshly upward, pulling it completely over the two of you and laying back down. He feels your arms wrap around his shoulders again as he presses his face to your sternum, listening to your heartbeat and ignoring Tech's attempts to rope in another helper as he goes right back to sleep.

Summary: Your boyfriend got jealous of your best friend. He decided to do something about it.

Marco the Phoenix:

- Marco was the chill type, he doesn't get jealous so easily. When he watches you chat happily with your best friend, Ace, he doesn't think too much about it.

- But when the crew took out the booze? Oh boy

- You get drunk easily, so you tried to turn down the booze offered to you, but Ace, being Ace, insisted, so you took a gulp. And you started to regret it when the drunk effects started to take a toll on you.

- You giggled, dancing with Ace goofily in the midst of your crewmates' cheering.

- And then, drunk Ace went to lean in, like he's about to kiss you. Luckily, your beloved phoenix pried the drunken idiot away from you.

- And then there's Sanji...

- Everyone knows how much of a ladies' man the cook was, so it was no surprise that he would be all over you.

- Which is a very bad thing since you know how your boyfriend dislikes "Curly Brow"

- And that dislike tripled when he watched as Sanji tried to hug you.

- "Hey, dumbass!"

- "Huh?" And down Sanji went when Zoro hit his head. And of course, you were concerned, calling for Chopper to treat the poor blond.

- You pulled Zoro by his ear to your shared room, ready to scold him but his cute pout made you hesitant.

- "I did it because I don't like him being all over you."

- You decided to spoil him the whole week, reminding him how much you love him.

Blackfoot Sanji:

- Sanji met you when Zoro, your childhood friend, brought you to the ship. Apparently, the grass haired swordsman recruited you to be their new nakama and Luffy agreed wholeheartedly.

- Sanji fell in love at first sight. He never felt anything like he's experiencing now when he met other girls before.

- You warmed up to him the last because of over-the-top and perverted he can get but you started to fall for him because of his gentlemanly manners.

- He would greet you everytime he saw you, giving you compliments and noticing your new outfit you bought from the last island. (Which btw you purposely bought just to impress him.)

- And then Zoro, who's passing by, complimented you. Like wtf? Is the world ending?? Zoro compliments a girl?? Unbelievable!

- You blushed of course, not expecting your usually reserved best friend to appreciate your outfit.

- As for Sanji, well...

- He pulled you with him and went to the kitchen. He made you sit before hastily went to cook something.

- "Sanji, are you okay??" You asked him when he cuts his finger accidentally.

- "Hm? Yeah, I am."

- You were worried. You never saw him getting cuts when cooking before. He's a professional chef, for Pete's sake!

- You asked him about his problem and he answered you shyly.

- "I just don't like it when that stupid swordsman makes you blush. I only want you to do that with me." He frowned, his lips pouting.

- You laughed, turning him to face you and pulled him to a tight hug.

- "Dummy. Zoro's just my friend. And I don't mind if you want me all for yourself."

- Sanji fainted, his lips grinning goofily as you tried to wake him up, calling for the reindeer doctor in distress.

- In the end, Sanji did got you all for himself. Never forgetting to rub that on Zoro's face everyday.

// This is probably more of a personal thing of mine and I get that a lot of people are more introvert but I absolutely love talking with my RP partners OOC.

I love to just gush about our threads/characters or just the franchise in general. ;w;

Especially if I'm going to ship with someone, it's basically a must for me to also build an ooc friendship. I am shipping trash and I ramble a lot about my favorite ships, but when it comes to the actual IC development, I'm all for that slow burn. So in the meantime, I want to get my ship fix through talking ooc and sharing art, headcanons, etc. uwu

I even talked with the mod of @conquerer-of-demons about this today and we're probably gonna take a step back and have a 'soft reset' in the sense that we'll focus some more on their interactions before they started dating because even though I'm the biggest Xiaolumi simp around, but I want some of those awkward moments and ANGST too. >3 I also think that both Xiao and Lumine aren't the type to fall in love very easily or rush into a relationship.

I do talk with a fair amount of my RP partners OOC but there's quite a lot I don't talk with either and sometimes I feel like this is a shame. ;w; Not blaming anyone or pointing fingers btw. I'm in Europe so I understand that my timezone is hard for a lot of my mutuals too.

¡! spoilers for Edelgard's past in the first headcanon and Dimitri's in the last (family stuff), set in canon, headcanons cover both pre-timeskip and after-timeskip

Edelgard

You're like a light of hope to her. After loosing so many of her siblings, being able to still have you there and rely on you is something she values more than you think.

However, this appreciation for her only sibling shows in some different ways. On the one hand, she feels responsible to make sure history does not repeat itself and that you can live a long and healthy life making your own choices. Maybe you don't even want to stay in the castle— she'll understand and let you go as long as you accept to keep in touch with her by exchanging letters.

On the other hand, you're also her weak point. You're her older sibling after all, and she can't let go of the feeling that you can somehow protect her from the world no matter what she does or happens. The mere idea of it is comforting to her, even if she knows it's kind of unrealistic to think about and might embarrass her a bit.

If you're also in Garreg Mach during her academic years, she would love to meet you in breakfasts and talk about your plans for the day as a way to motivate each other. Just please, don't tell her classmates many anecdotes of when she was little... We all know Ferdinand and you can have some lively conversations on the topic, but sharing two or three memories is more than enough for her, really.

In case you're far away from each other, letters are a must. She writes to you quite frequently, sometimes on a whim after having a nightmare and needing to let her thoughts out, but more often as a way to keep you updated with her life. She'll smile if you send her some words of encouragement and praise because of her role in the recent missions at the monastery.

Does not tend to talk about you to others, but if someone asks about you they'll find an unusual happiness in her eyes as she speaks. You're her family, her rock that has always been there when she needed it, so her words about you are always filled with care.

During times of war, her letters could get less frequent. If the worry made you travel to her side, she would take it as a sign that she's got the support to make things work out. Might tear up after not seeing you for long. Probably will, go hug give her a hug.

She got the habit of getting into your room at night when she was younger. The castle felt dangerous and it was not like you knew much more than her about what was going on, but at least you had each other. That's something you two have always been sure of.

Will still surprise you in your room at night from time to time. Sometimes to talk to you about that book you recommended her, other times to wish you a happy birthday with a drawing of you she had been working on for days.

Dimitri

When you were younger, it wasn't unusual to share bed with him in the coldest days of Faerghus' winter. He would enjoy listening to your stories of training or just your days in the castle as someone who is a bit older than him, and this sometimes made him end up falling asleep in your own room too.

And even if this doesn't go on when you are older, he still finds your words and stories to be very calming and reassuring. Therefore he often thinks about talking with you when a problem or worry arises, even if he doesn't expect advice all the time.

Will refer to you as "sibling" when talking about you, no matter with whom. His words and tone make others easily see you two are in very good terms with each other, although he gets embarrassed when it slips out of his tongue with officials from the army or other nobles he isn't close to.

Likes to train with you and learn from each other. You end up having anecdotes of how many of your trainings have ended in broken weapons you had to turn in because of your brother's strength.

That can also be... a bit of a problem in the kitchen. Not that you really mind, you will love your brother just as he is, but he sure feels hesitant to help when he starts to realise his clumsy mistakes. Everyone agreed to let you on kitchen duty together one day out of curiosity and perhaps that was the kitchen's most chaotic day.

During the timeskip, Dimitri tried to isolate himself. He didn't feel like he deserved to still have you by his side, to possibly drag you into all of that too. You were aware of the situation when his friends came to you for help.

It was a long process, but blood connects you two and you stay hopeful for your brother. He will always remember how you did not leave him even at his darkest moments, and will be willing to do the same for you no matter how far away life puts you from each other.

You know how some families name their first child after their father or things like that? Dimitri would consider doing so, but naming one of his children after you because you are all the family he has. At first, you thought he was joking so you laughed it off, but his confused expression confirmed you otherwise.

this is my first post and maybe my only post here because i usually just lurk, like and comment, but portwells and rinis make these three questions/comments a lot especially with recent events, and i just want to talk about them and answer them for you. hopefully this will answer it and give you a different perspective.

(i don’t mean to come across as rude im just very brutally honest with the way i talk. so if you get easily angry or upset scroll, but im going to tag all ships in the tags because again, im answering questions/comments i see in the tag a lot and im not hating on the ships or characters by any means, im not an anti, im just answering. so if you’re open for an open minded conversation keep reading. i don’t want to hear that you weren’t warned or that i didn’t tag anti * tags because like i said, im not an anti)

one;

“if nini was in season three the season would look very different” *regarding ricky and gina*

the show has established in season two they were no good for each other right now and ricky hated who he was becoming. (which are words that came out of canon ricky’s mouth. a fact.) if you like nini you would also know her arc was about finding herself and doing things for herself. so why would they put her with ricky again in season three? that’s not a second chance that’s their millionth one! jk* i can go on a rant about how the show foreshadowed their downfall since season one from the moment ricky’s mom said “not all couples are meant to be together” but i won’t because that can be biased and im not trying to do that in this post.

ricky’s unresolved feelings for gina were always there. they never had closure. it was only a matter of time until they’d have to circle back to it and address them. the show let rini go in a beautiful way id highly doubt they’d go back to it in season three after they just broke up for a second time. as a nini stan id be pissed if they did. (i love all the characters btw)

tim has said in an interview the rini breakup was planned before “drama” happened. so no, it’s not because of that rini is over. he also said in an interview, when asked about the rina flashback, that it was filmed in season one, so it was planned. also mentioned a comment, that they’re, “seeds being planted for the future” again another fact he said. (like i said, im not here to bash or be petty, just answering your questions with facts. im not pulling these quotes out of thin air.)

i think a lot of you can’t accept that tim federle is obviously going for a girl falls first boy falls harder trope with ricky and gina. which is the oldest teen drama trope in the book. he draws inspiration from old teen dramas, like dawson’s creek (which he has mentioned a lot!) a show where the protagonist ends up with her second love. very familiar situation here, right?

two;

“that’s his third choice”

ricky didn’t choose nini over gina because gina was not there to be chosen. SHE MOVED. she ignored his texts, told him to never call her again. so tell me how he was going to “choose” gina? especially when the show runner has said he was “clinging to his past with nini.” (another fact he said in an interview)

they took gina away for ricky to acknowledge nini again. missed a whole episode without her.

when you choose both options need to be available to you and gina was not.

lily wasn’t even a choice because by then gina was not even speaking to him! she ignored his attempt to partner in 206 and he gave her space. lily was a rebound, he disliked her and the canon show made that clear.

at the end of the day being around someone you have unresolved feelings for will resurface them. ricky liking gina is nothing new. we knew they mutually liked each other in season one.

he never made “choices” their timing was just never right.

this perception you all have with being first, second or third choice is very weird? because by that logic isn’t ej gina’s “second choice” because she couldn’t have ricky? yeah okay.

you’re all confusing bad timing for “second options”

second love ≠ second choice

three;

“what about all this ej and gina development” is simply answered with, that was clearly a plot device ship. you didn’t see their first kiss, didn’t get pay off when they were together only five seconds at the beginning of summer and so much more, it was very evident where it was going…

gina NEEDED relationship experience before she ever got with ricky. she needed to move on so ricky could be the one pining, because that’s how the trope works and they’re filling out all the boxes for it.

you all hate ricky and gina because you see their season two angst as this unforgivable thing when ricky never hurt her intentionally. she was sad because he was in a relationship and she couldn’t be with him the way she wanted to. the same thing ricky is going through now.

this fandom can’t understand good angst because you expect everything to be sunshine and rainbows and that’s not how teen dramas work. they’re teenagers! they make mistakes! ricky made his but guess what? he’s paying for it now 10X worse.

now ej is making his mistakes, which is actually what season two did to ricky. he was the “villain” and you all hated him (when he was just going through a lot) and then, here comes ej being put in a more positive light and being the “prince in shining armor” to gina’s story. (i can go on a rant about this and the writing and the double standards you all have for those two characters, but i won’t…)

at the end of the day they all “deserve” love. and im sorry but we can all see where the writing for this show is going towards and a lot of you are being bitter about it, which understandable, (i understand not liking seeing ej’s character be the one used for this development for the main character’s benefit) but missing the point completely to fit your narrative. calling rina a “third, second, etc choice” or “wouldn’t happen if nini didn’t leave” or “fan service” is just false and extremely petty. you can say you hate the ship, but making up false statements is ???

especially when i can pull different scenes from season one and two that debunks those arguments that “ricky never cared for gina” he was glancing at her in new years, basically told gina they were each others confidants in 203 “we do that for each other” etc. obviously they weren’t strong because he was in a relationship just like gina’s feelings aren’t strong now because she’s ALSO in a relationship. however, that doesn’t take away the fact they were always left unresolved, for the both of them.

and this is all i have to say on that!

we all have our opinions but some of you think and believe your opinion is a fact when it’s not. i just debunked these comments/arguments for you with facts and you don’t have to agree with me or like the ship (you can ship whatever. you can hate rina, it doesn’t matter.) but a lot of your opinions aren’t a fact when it’s not what the canon show is telling you.

ANON IM SO FUCKING SORRY THEY DELETED YOU OH MY GOD. anyways here's the answer under the cut that i had to rewrite in its entirety<3

so um. this must feel very weird because it was just announced that the prequel was cancelled by the CW so i rlly don't think me airing my problems with it remains fruitful but STILL. as a marygirl and johncrit/john-understander AND frequent participant of toxic tragic maryjohn """"shipping"""" i have to say (as someone who has not watched this show keep that in mind pls this is just from what i have seen on the dash). it's very weird that the writers and producers decided to focus on how dean's feelings must be hurt and on dean's need for a hashtag apple pie normal happy domestic home life and dean's closure and ignored basically everything about the actual mary and john.

i thought it was very disrespectful to mary in particular, who had to marry a man she despised (and vice-versa on his part) because of divine manipulation from heaven. one thing about mary's story was that she did not want to be a hunter in the end and that she craved safety for her and her loved ones instead of the dangers for hunting. despite this she could never get out of the hunting life because her destiny was to be used as a pawn in the celestial game leading upto the apocalypse and the end of the world which like! fucking sucks! and she loved her children and probably also her husband (how much of the latter was genuine and not the aforementioned celestial fuckery we'll never know) but that doesn't mean her life and marriage were happy or normal.

john as well. he was forced to fall in love with a person he "couldn't stand" due to higher forces orchestrating it since the beginning of humankind apparently. but unlike mary he didn't stop believing in his destiny. before her death we know that mary was considering divorce but we don't know if john felt the same. what we do know is that immediately after her death he spiralled so hard that he decided to risk him and his children's lives to seek revenge against her murderers, which unfortunately led to him discovering hunting and raising his kids up to be hunters, which is the only thing mary didn't want. infact, ending this cycle of hunting was the main reason she made sure he remained ignorant of hunting and her past life as a hunter. and we know that instead of doing any of this, john could've easily talked with mary's ghost (see 1x09) and consulted with her on how to parent their kids, or heck, even just straight up ASKED her who her killer was, but he didn't. because talking with mary would mean having to talk about their cringefail marriage and life together. he held up an ideal of her as the perfect wife and their relationship as the perfect marriage, and he sacrificed his life and his sons' lives at this fake altar. (keep in mind, it is very IMPORTANT to his character that he does not know shit about hunting before mary's death)

mary also does this, in a way, when after being brainwashed by the bmol (boooo!) she retreats into a mental fantasy where she's younger, dean is a toddler and sammy's an infant and refuses to "look at" the older dean who repeatedly asks her to see him and hear him. tellingly, john isn't a part of this fantasy.

so obviously all of this affected dean. knowing that your father would rather choose a life of danger and uncertainty over a healthy and safe childhood for you and your brother, knowing that him and your mother never "truly" loved each other, knowing that their marriage was on the verge of ending before your mother's death all fucking sucks. knowing that because you turned out leading the life you mother did not want for you to have, having your mother come back after so many years but she's about a decade younger than you and would rather go back to what's known and comforting to her (i.e. hunting) over parenting your adult ass and confronting her new reality has also got to suck. after being traumatised and put in harm's way his entire childhood and early adulthood by his father, who was acting in the interest of protecting the perfect made-up ideal of his angelic mother and their perfect life before her death, he was even denied the closure of having a mother and regaining that type of life when she was actually present for it.

this absolutely does not mean we should write and produce shows where dean's form of "closure" is travelling the multiverse (you will NEVER be spiderverse etc etc), finding a perfect reality that exists where we retcon his parents as better people who DID love each other, actually, and they ALSO had brown and queer friends and they were like, totally cool with that, and the impala is a time travelling car now. maryjohn is not a love story. it is a tragedy. it is a horror story. it can even be a fucking comedy if you think about how absurd it all is, but it is NEVER a normal happy romance.

they fundamentally cannot end up together and be happy about it. and you cannot ask me to be happy about such a story! i would've even been ok with the show if they presented us with dean who is dead in heaven, refusing to meet his similarly dead-and-in-heaven parents, completely dissatisfied with how his life was and instead of finally resting, choosing to time travel across multiverses to find a reality where his life had the potential to be happier, where his parents stayed together willingly and resolved all their conflicts, where he had a better childhood. and presented us with all of this as the insanely tragic, terrifying thing that it is instead of some nostalgic, forever 21 wardrobed, 70s scooby-doo-esque, retro funfest.

i don't fault people (especially dean fans) for liking this show. i understand how seeing dean again, and seeing him happy, seeing him finally "save" his mother, could be cathartic or even just plain enjoyable for a lot of people. but im unhealthily obsessed with a lot of the source material this show plays so fast and loose with and it's so unacceptable to me lol.

YESSS OFC I WILL LOVE!!! and aaaa yes 80k im so proud of myself!!!! out of order is my first ever fic (still a work in progress but she's grown quite long lately heheh!!) so it has a very special place in my heart<33 i definitely do feel like i've improved a lot since i started writing it, but i think that progress is a good thing yk<3

it's wolfstar- and jily centered, or at least it started out that way, but Pandora and Barty lowkey started taking over the story as i got progressively more and more invested in their characters. The plot itself is still about wolfstar and jily, and they're still the MCs, but half the chapters are just pandora and barty being icons at this point😭 then barty and lily started flirting and i was like, WOW, HOLD ON, WE'RE GETTING WAYY OFF TRACK HERE so i invented ✨east of eden✨ to let my inner demons unfold (and east of eden has now become my favourite to write, unsurprisingly). this is also essentially how i got into shipping bartylily lol<3

oh and look at that, i've already gotten off track in my own rambling again... let me tell you about out of order!!

it's a boarding school AU, and a muggle AU with a modern setting. the concept is that sirius and james are your standard it-boy roommates and have been for the past several years (peter erasure:( didn't much like his character when i started writing it and it's too late to change it now), but the story starts off with remus transferring to their school and being assigned to their dorm, which starts a bunch of drama, because remus is a rather famous influencer. The Thing is, though, that wolfstar used to be very close, but a Big ThingTM happened two years ago which sparked a HUGE conflict between the two of them that no one else knows about, and which would be a huge scandal for Remus' career if it ever got out. the whole thing's very dramatic and tense, and there's a bunch of drama happening on the side lines while the story unfolds. i'm adding a little snippet below that's really not that little because i just can't shut the fuck up. it's set at mary's birthday party, narrated by an ecstasy-tripping remus lol<3

As Remus trips through the tightly packed dance floor, even the familiar of faces distort and disfigure, napes growing fingers that stretch through tinsel-decorated locks of hair and eyes that are too wide, or too round, or just misplaced in general. Mostly, they're brown, or green, or blue. Some are heavy-lidded, some are red around the edges, some have dilated pupils. Pandora's eyes have a sort of reddish purple shade. They're the type of eyes that are round and sort of puppy-like, with a little space of white that droops below her irises as if she's always looking up. She's traced them with eyeliner that stands out against the pale surface of her skin, and when she smiles, gentle creases form under her platinum bottom lashes. "Remus." Her voice sounds like she's speaking through a shallow body of water. Her eyes look like little purple suns. Remus sees them rise and fall over the horizon and imagines how his lifespan shortens by another day every time they move. He imagines how ancient she must be. This is why you shouldn't do ecstasy in the bathroom, he supposes. He blinks. She's looking at him still. He blinks again. "Aren't you supposed to hate me?" "Hate you?" Her head tilts to the side. There's something faintly unsettling about the way her features bend with her emotions, not a cold and motionless face like Regulus' or a vivid display of dramatics like Sirius', but some third and different option entirely. "I don't do that much. Why do you think I should hate you?" Remus shrugs. He's sort of forgotten. "I don't know. Aren't you Regulus' girlfriend?" "Certainly not," she laughs. "Regulus is family. Sure if you'd hurt him, I'd hurt you, but I wouldn't have to hate you to do that." She says it easily, not the trace of a threat in her tone. She's quite a small girl, smaller than both Lily and Regulus - still, Remus' intuition tells him that he'd be in deep trouble if she ever decided she wanted him to be. Remus sways slightly. The song changes and more people press onto the dance floor; he feels the pulse of the wood under his feet. It beats in sync with his own pounding head. Pandora smiles, and Remus watches her eyes crease. She says, "But Regulus isn't the one you damaged, at the end of the day, so I hold nothing against you." She's got a pretty voice, softspoken and a little deep for a girl, with a posh finality to the details of her words. She pronounces them properly, pierced lips moving around each syllable like she's blowing bubbles through a piece of gum: Certainly. Pop. Regulus. Pop. Sure. Pop. "Oh," Remus says. He feels like a tree in the wind. "That's good." Pandora laughs. She reaches out a small hand, fingers heavy with silver rings. There's one on her middle finger, shaped like a snake. It hisses at Remus. "Come, let's go to the others," it says. Pandora's hand is sort of warm, but also sort of cold, like when you put your hand into water so cold it seems to ignite your skin.

Time for me to ramble about The Wingfeather Saga to try and distract myself from my depression and the fact that I’m sick and miserable!

~*Spoilers*~ for all the books

Okie so in the 3rd Wingfeather show episode Tink calls Peet old and I just. I just wanna address that for a second because it’s been poking around in my mind ever since. xD

So here’s what I think the ages of the adults in the Wingfeather Saga are as based on the kid’s ages, how long it’s been since Anniera fell and logic:

Let’s start with Esben and Nia. Since their kiddos were very little when Anniera fell (Janner was only three) it follows that they were also quite young, I’m gonna say mid-20′s, around 24-25. Nine years later that’d make them 33-34 years old, which seems logical.

I headcanon that Artham and Esben have the same age gap as Janner and Kal, so assuming Artham is only a year older than his brother that’d put him at about 25-26 (my age ;-;) when Anniera fell and 34-35 during the events of the series. That’s. That’s not old. Even if you headcanon him as several years older than Esben (say 3 or so) he’d still be in his 30′s.

(I’m not knocking Tink btw, he’s 11 and everyone’s old when you’re a little kid, especially weird guys with whitish gray hair that you don’t know are related to you.)

I don’t have any concrete idea of how old Podo is and it bothers me, Leeli in book 4 keeps saying he’s like, really old, but she’s also 9 so that’s probably not reliable. Assuming Nia’s in her 30′s during the books Podo is probably(?) in his mid-late 60′s. (Especially since we know he did a LOT when he was young, he ran with the Stranders, he was a pirate, and when he came to the Hollows he said he never sailed again until he traveled to Anniera for Nia’s wedding). I feel like Wendolyn was younger than him by maybe 5-6 years since she isn’t married when they meet, despite being an attractive and well-to-do young woman.

Mentioning grandparents, has anyone else ever wondered where the HECK Artham and Esben’s parents are? Like, they’re barely even mentioned in the books, I think we actually learn their names from a genealogy Janner gets from Oskar/the Great Library. And this is especially weird when you consider that Podo and Wendolyn are actively helping Nia and the kids escape when Anniera falls. That, and Esben is king already when Anniera falls and unless their parents had kids when they were older (which is possible) they won’t be that old and Idk why his dad wouldn’t still be ruling. Like, why pass the throne off to your 20-something son if you don’t have to? Why not train him more?

So here’s what I think happened to Jru and Nala Wingfeather: I think Bonifer killed them. Not Bonifer himself, of course, but I think he arranged their deaths in some way. It would be pretty easy, tbh, to have an “accident” where they died. All you’d need to do would be hire some pirates to attack a ship they’re sailing on, or sabotage the ship so that it sank once it set sail.

Bonifer would have several good motives for this, I think. First and foremost, it’s going to be much easier for him to trick Esben, a brand-new, very young, king into believing his lies than an older, more experienced, king and queen. Not that I think Esben (or Artham) was an idiot, but Bonifer has had a really long time to learn how to lie and be a terrible person, and the younger you are the more likely you are to fall for stuff like that (generally speaking, there are always exceptions. like, I don’t think Maraly would have been easily tricked by Bonifer’s shenanigans because she grew up with the Stranders who are a bunch of lying tricksters. Meanwhile, Janner was tricked because he grew up among trustworthy and loving adults. Same thing with Esben and Artham).

Second, it’s possible that Jru and/or Nala had learned something that made them suspicious of Bonifer or were close to finding something about Gnag/the Fangs that would have ruined their plans, so Bonifer had them killed. Again, it’s really easy to set up an “accident”, especially when sailing is involved.

And finally, Bonifer just. really hates the Wingfeathers. Because he’s got issues. So of course he’d try to cause them all the suffering he could.

So, yeah, that’s why I think Esben and Artham’s parents aren’t around/aren’t mentioned in the books. Also my headcanons about ages.

Following your whole Meta HP essays (love them btw. Disagree with some pieces, but that doesn't mean they're not SO MUCH FUN to read) What is your opinion on time-travel fics? They seem incredibly pervasive in this fandom. And, what about time-travel shipping? (Ik it's a fucked up power-dynamic, as well as usually accompanying a similarly fucked up age gap, but i'd love to hear your thoughts!)

In General

And hm, big genre that. I suppose it's like most tropes in fic, I've seen it done very well and I've seen it done poorly. I do see that a lot of times fic authors fall into a trap of not straying enough from canon but also wanting things easily fixed.

We get things like all the canon events happening over again, the Triwizard tournament, the stone, etc. but somehow nothing really changes even though our time traveler swears to change anything.

So the fic feels as if the time travel is almost superfluous, as whoever is reliving their life is just doing the same thing over again.

But that's not every fic and there are a lot that do a great exploration of character as they have to live through events of their past and gain insight into themselves and the world because of it.

And I think that's one of the best potential things about time travel fics: the ability to really play with characters and their understanding of the world and themeslves.

Time Travel Shipping

Well, there's lots of types here. There's where like aged characters go to the past and meet up with like aged characters. Then there's also the character A raises character B and then they get married somehow.

I can't say I really have thoughts as even time travel fics, as pervasive as they are, can be very diverse. There's a lot of different tropes within even the time travel HP tropes that I can't think of anything to get into off the top of my head.

uhh im an indian teenage (14-15 though i look younger) girl and she/her presenting. im very easy to tell im indian. i have brown/tan skin and dark brown eyes. i have black curly hair but the tips are dyed a dark red. my face shape is pretty sharp, heart shape i think?? and people say i look like a cartoon? i have bangs that curl and swoop across my face though they fall straight across my forhead when straightened.

I’m giving you two different fandom ships

Your Fandom Ship(s): Tim Drake (Red Robin, DC Universe) and Steve Randle (The Outsiders)

Explanation: starting off of the parents I think that Tim would absolutely find you attractive and he would think that you’re one of the cutest people he saw all day. He would love your heart shaped face and love your curly hair with the red tips at the end and think that it made you stand out from other people, and I feel like his eyes would just be subtly on you as he walked by. he’s also pretty short and I feel like it would be kind of a running joke between the both of you if you weren’t insecure about being short, of course. He’s not super clumsy, but he thinks the fact that you’re kind of a klutz is utterly hilarious and he will laugh at you a bit before helping you up with a smile. I honestly don’t hc him as being very interested in sex, so I think he would totally be fine with you being a sexual and willing to skip over that part of your relationship. He also really loves physical affection too, (to a limit) so I feel like he would be all about cuddling with you and hugging and kissing. But I also feel like he would need a break sometimes from that which you would totally respect. But he would love climbing through your window late at night, laying down in bed with you and just talking and having those deep late night conversations. So Tim is the type of person that doesn’t really use alarms and he doesn’t really get much sleep either. He’s very intelligent and mostly thrives on coffee and very much stays up late and doesn’t get enough sleep so I feel like he wouldn’t be as chaotic as you, but I feel like he would help wake him up a little bit in a way that even coffee can’t I feel like you guys would perfectly balance each other out because he’s definitely a bit more of a tired guy and you’re definitely a bit more oh my gosh, look at that look at this. Watch me do this! Type of person. It also works in vice versa because I feel like he could kind of be your melatonin a bit and help you kind of remember to relax calm down. Take one step at a time not in the way that’s squashing your excitement and chaotic kindness, of course, but more than a way that just kind of grounds you. He’s a bit of a nerd too and comes off a little bit awkward when he’s not in his red Robin superhero persona where he hast to be smooth and he’s just in regular old Tim Drake so I think you guys would kind of be together because you could bond over that a bit and kind of feel like the other person is way smoother or something than you and feel like you guys are really on the same page. I feel like Tim also kind of needs you because he definitely doesn’t take care of himself and it’s kind of funny your relationship because he’s going to tell you oh don’t break the law and you’ll be like well. You take care of yourself you have a broken arm you shouldn’t even be, doing that anyway and then you guys will both stare at each other like “shit. You have a point.” I feel like he kind of makes more nerdy jokes, but he would definitely appreciate your dad joke, humor and you guys have so many freaking inside jokes. It’s not even funny like you guys talk to each other around the rest of the bat family and they’re just so clueless as to what you’re saying because of how many freaking inside jokes you guys have referenced in one minimal conversation. He also loves reading so I feel like that’s something you guys could do together. Just have a little reading and music dates where you sit down and just vibe and then maybe later talk about your books and I feel like he’s the type of person that after reading a book would love to come up with all sorts of theories about it And things like that because he is a better detective than Bruce Wayne himself in canon. I feel like Tim would love film theory (the YouTube channel). Anyway, I feel like you guys could also go on hikes together and that’s something that he would enjoy.

Explanation: starting off with physical attraction I think that Steve would be very attracted to you and think you’re extremely beautiful. He would love your heart shaped face and the way you look like some sort of animated character just popped right out of television and in front of him and he would think that your hair is super cool, but he would never tell that to you until you were way further in the relationship. He is a lot taller than you and would love picking you up and spending you around and teasing you about being short and because you’re so clumsy, he would probably be jokingly calling you “dummy” a lot while fully knowing that you could definitely beat him in any academic test easy. He’s totally fine with you being as sexual as he doesn’t really care that much about that in the relationship as long as he gets to be with you. He would love physical affection, though it might take him a while to get used to it and you might have to do it later on into the relationship. Once it finally happens I think he would totally be in love with holding hands with you, kissing your cheek and things like that. as for your excitable personality and very ADHD chaotic gremlin vibe I think that you guys would be a great match together because he’s kind of a grumpy vibe and I feel like you would even each other out like you’re one of the only people besides his best friend that can make him smile and he’s one of the only people that can calm me down if you can’t focus because there’s too many things in the rumor something like that. He likes that you take care of him because sometimes he gets injured whenever he’s working on cars and it’s pretty convenient that you always have bandages on and alcohol wipes, and things like that. It also makes him feel cared for whenever you do it. He would laugh really hard at your dad jokes and I feel like you guys would have a decent amount of inside jokes as well. As for your kind of sunshiny side I think you guys would be a great pair because he’s kind of colder and grumpy so I think you guys would even each other out. He doesn’t get reading as much, but he would really love it if you read to him while he was working on cars so he had something other to think about.

shinarei is really really really good i think.

cell of empireo routes EDCB and S+, dlc spoilers (fyi, stuff from a part of the dlc that isn't translated yet, nothing super major though)

just an informal post from me. gets a little embarrassing too. gushing about things is a little painful when you are full of love.

but basically, like, i think there exists to be an argument (hypothetical? idk i don't hang out with any fans) that shinarei could fall into pair the spares territory... which is certainly untrue. i just do not think that it has no basis. it's not particularly deep or anything but i do think it is a fits like a glove situ. anyway, at least i'm not the one pairing up family members. (charged statement? tbh not really, my opinion would not change regardless of whether or not an alternative exists... i just do not fw step-whatever ships and i view them as incest. it is my own preference.)

on the relationship between shinano and atou in coe

since the game kind of flip flops on when the rakusou park rabies case happened (though the second half of the game seems to consistently date it around march 2015 so i'll begrudgingly consider that despite it being a very small timeframe), i think that regardless of how long shinano was under atou's care, it is an important relationship in the long run with respects to this post. while shinano was heavily influenced by origin beta seeking origin alpha out it IS a huge point for shinano that one cannot seperate their old and current and future selves so easily so, even as an existence that straddled the line between origin beta and shinano, i think shinano->atou is a highly valid interpretation. i think tina's instinct "to protect", pochi's instinct "to seek out the origin" and shinano's instinct of "atou-san, atou-san" getting all muddled up created some kind of insane peak yandere. i think the main point here is that for most of the game— reiji had gone off so is missing for a good chunk of the game, shinano is present until chapter 5 then disappears, so the two essentially have no real knowledge of each other. atou tells shinano about reiji in the past tense. he tells reiji about shinano being missing in action but there isn't really the gravity in the current situation to elaborate (ironically because origin beta is still running around). also i think it's really funny that atou immediately discounts that shinano could be beta when ibuki brings it up... anyway this is all preamble really.

starting off on the wrong, no, perhaps the worst foot (paw?) possible

so reiji goes yeah imma kidnap you, atou haruki, and be done with it. honestly, who knows how the plot could have gone if shinano had not appeared in this moment... really, whether it was beta pulling him towards alpha or shinano just happened to come across them at the worst moment, it's still an amazing fucking scene. like, one may wring their hands over whether or not this is yandere, but people have called other characters yandere over literal nothing. SO WHATEVER. my post my interpretation. honestly, it's really fucking good. the way shinano is laser focused on atou, atou-san come here, atou-san, atou-san while reiji is on the other side making quips in lieu of atou who is on shock, it's a tense scene that i can't criticize at all really. SHINANO MY GOAT!!!! literally my favorite line in the entire game btw:

at this point shinano and reiji could not be more diametrically opposed in terms of goal, reiji's being to retrieve atou for sanemitsu and shinano's being an open ended one of "protecting", and who knows how that could even end when at least half of the instinct is coming from what is essentially stem cell rabies and chronic dog brain. it doesn't help they lack context on said stances... in S, this is the end of their adversarial relationship, but if you miss enough flags you basically guarantee that reiji is getting killed by shinano. i think this is actually a really important aspect of shinarei. because..... i really like all the cannibalism fanart... shinano is cute so if he wants to take a chunk out of reiji he is free to do so. i don't have to argue about how cannibalism is inherently homoerotic. IT'S NOT JUST ME! if you see any artists on twitter who dabble in this shit they have definitely drawn it at least once. really, it's becoming rare to have an excuse to draw something like this without going full AU, so fukao... thank you. shinarei is mostly a diabetes ship, but the fact that there is also this macabre side to it is part of the appeal imo. also fulfills the game's "earn your happy ending" element. it's so good~~~~

how INCREDIBLY dorky!!! i almost didn't pick up on it. you first see it when sanemitsu picks up a note from reiji about atou and shinano visiting— for some reason i assumed it was the formal usage, which was pretty dumb of me to be honest, i genuinely questioned why it'd be like that after three years before i realized it wasn't a stuffy "-shi" but more like how otakus address each other with the nuance of "comrade". to be honest, i've seen the examples of otaku using "-dono" way more often so i didn't realize right away. it's cute not only because it follows the thoroughline of "since S+, shinano and reiji have continued to get along" but also because i feel like this kind of otaku slang has LONG fallen out of favor, it is a stereotype among stereotypes, but reiji is not a normal person at all and i would not be surprised if he just heard it somewhere and picked it up on a whim. i mean, when your dad writes in occult magazines he is probably bumping elbows with some very strange people.

there's not much to discuss in terms of reiji engaging with shinano's hobbies and actively getting into ditasword, but it is cute, cute cute cute. sickeningly cute. how cute can it get?!?!!! this cute:

i guess one thing there would be hand wringing over is the age difference— usually depending on the context, how things shake out is based on your own interpretation... though i think between adults it's kinda "who cares" for me. at any rate, it's not like they're breaching into a relationship right off the bat, imo there is a strong preference for onesided reiji->shinano on my end and there's a good three years until the dlc/interlude/com deadline. just straight up having a massive crush but not being sure of what it means. i like how sanemitsu said that it's nice that reiji made a friend his age after so long, atou is like "he's not though", but they shrug it off and go "well shinano's childish anyway". though i think there is a certain coolness factor in shinano that reiji sees that the others don't see!!!! do you understand!!!! also how is it any different from the classic "crushing on an older girl"!!!!! anyway, shinano's happy to have someone he can talk to about his hobbies aside from akane. anyway 25 vs 29 is a pretty nice diff actually. its kinda who cares.

on the contrast

for all intents on purposes despite being a private detective and getting wrapped up with empyrean, of all of rakuen, i think shinano has the strongest image of a civilian. perhaps even among the entire cast in coe. reiji... is very much not a civilian!!! he lives with mercs and does insane paranormal investigations as a lifestyle!!! there is nothing civilian or normal about that...!!! i think the gap in daily life is very good, and despite everything shinano's suspension of disbelief is probably top tier. he will fit in right away if reiji introduced him to LDL. theodore on suicide watch

shinano moves back to tokyo after coe is over (as opposed to him treking to nagoya to seek atou out) and reiji is living in italy. i'm sure reiji is probably going to japan a lot anyway but likeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!like!!!!!!!!
