those poorly written tacked-on het crushes are sooo much nicer when you read them in a dykebreaking/acebreaking perspective.
oh, that girl had so much chemistry with the other female lead, but got a cookie-cutter boyfriend at the last minute to enforce heteronormative standards? noo, don't worry! that boyfriend just taught her the joys of Men, and fixed her silly delusions <3
that girl could be easily read as aro/ace and the presence of a male love interest only seems to invalidate her whole arc and make her seem kind of bland? don't be silly! he just taught her that she needs a Man to survive, and helped her overcome her fear of real love.
that girl who loses all her personality and development to become the male lead's side piece should be a role model! who needs representation when you can have inspiration like this?

Ok but can we talk about the absolute horror of being watched and monitored 24/7 that the ancients must have had. The citizenship drones being like an Alexa that's constantly following and listening to you (except it's five pebbles and not Alexa lmao). The fucking OVERSEERS. THEY'RE CALLED THAT FOR A REASON. BECAUSE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE WATCHING THEIR CITIZENS AS WELL AS THE ENVIRONMENT ALL THE TIME. (I would talk about the fact that they all show arti fucking ads as well but honestly idk what else to say about that. Capitalism got yet another society 😔). That's some fucking nightmare fuel dystopian society settings we are being hinted at. You know the Big Brother Is Watching You thing. The book. Yeah that's what it reminds me of.
The Iterator Is Watching You.
#imagine not being able to escape being watched any second of your life#imagine being one of the first ancients who saw an iterator come into being#imagine being one of the first ancients who had to go live on top of them#imagine being one of the first amcients to be constantly scrutinized by the overseers#i bet they knew this wasn't really a good thing#no matter how religious they were. by the time of pebbles though they were far too religiously indoctrinated to realize this was bad#(as a society i mean. theres always some who disagree and figure out what's going on)#disclaimer i have never read the book i am talking about and only know it through references and pop culture. still tho yk what i mean#rain world#rainworld#rain world iterator#rw iterator#iterator#rw five pebbles#five pebbles#im tagging him too even tho hes only mentioned i wanna reach more ppl with this#pls i may not have said everything i wanted to say cause i cant get my thoughts straight rn but i want to hear what yall think about this#agh the whole situation is so fucked imagine being the Big Brother in this and not even having a choice in it.#imagine that everyone with critical thinking knows this and cant do anything about it.#not even mentioning the cataclysmic level rain the iterators brought. like dude who thought this was a good idea.#imagine all this + the end of the world and its ecosystem as you know it happening right before your eyes#and you cant even blame the person at fault that much bc they were literally fucking born into this#rw overseer#forgot this one#rw ancients

i really love when you're reading something from sqq's perspective and you can see exactly why every man he meets is the way that they are, and then the perspective switches to one of the poor helpless saps who has been wifebeamed and you realize all of these men are actually incredibly well-adjusted and normal because no matter how much of an alluring vixen sqq seems to be from his perspective, he is always somehow sluttier in actuality.

i think my biggest gripe with the comparison between zuko and john smith and zutara as a whole to pocahontas is that john smith was an active colonizer. he was a grown man who chose and was proud of what he was doing. he didnt even believe the act of colonization was wrong. yes, he tried to end the violence in the movie, but he still lived with the belief that his people deserved to and were entitled to co exist on that land with the indigenous people.
zuko was an active participant in dismantling a hundred years of colonialism and colonization and genuinely wanted to fix the problems that his ancestors had left for him. it wasn’t easy and he wasn’t a perfect leader, but he was genuinely trying to make decisions that would be for the better of all the people, not just himself or his people. where john smith thought that indigenous ppl needed the white people’s help to become “more civilized” because he viewed them as inferior, zuko sought to give those that the fire nation had hurt their autonomy back.
that’s not to say that it isn’t a valid reason to dislike zutara, and if the idea makes you uncomfortable that’s fine and i respect it. i realize that the ship doesn’t appeal to everyone and that’s okay, but i just hate the comparisons because john smith was genuinely just an awful person who never should’ve been glorified in a disney movie.

#trying out a new thing#ffxiv screenshots#ajisaijar#pastjar#gposers#ffxiv gpose#im not happy with the dialogue; not 100% sure why but i just wanted to try this out#i want to explore ajisai's relationships in her decuria; especially with her decurion and her medicus veteranus#right now i'm thinking ajisai got assigned to a decuria much sooner than normal because healers are always needed and she has an aptitude#for it. officially she would've been a field medic so she would be 'jen' and she certainly would've taken an cognomen to make herself as#imperial as possible#ANYWAY#marcus pyr calidus is a piece of shit; he manipulated her into a corner where she couldn't understand conflicting messages#of praise and abuse; i'm still working out the details of what he does but for sure he was handsome and charming and maybe Ajisai was lowke#in love with him and would've done anything he asked ; and he totally took advantage of that#wanna know why ajisai has problems with authority? marcus pyr calidus bby#he's a big reason why ajisai tried to ditch haurchefant post one night stand and why she has a wall between herself and aymeric#is it love or is it the indoctrinated desire to please her betters/worship authority ?? is aymeric nice or is he working an angle#to make her more beholden to Ishgard? does she like him or is she just falling into line like a good little soldier?#who knoooowwwss?#i'm 100% just writing this shit in here so i can copy it down in the lil Ajisai binder I am apparently making because I'm obsessed

Love how people are SHOCKED when they come on a Pro Jedi blog and criticize the Jedi for particularly heinous bullshit and the Pro Jedi person gets defensive and upset in response.
Wow, no one could have seen that coming.

Sorry guys, rant incoming. I considered deleting this but I put too much effort in.
"girlboss" "girl dinner" "girl math" "boy math" "gen z are making fun of us for wearing x" "here's how to dress like gen z:" "girlies" "girl's night" "boy's night" "me and the boys" "90s kid"
"I don't feel like an adult" "I'm 34 and I can tell you, I still don't feel like an adult either." "My parents seemed like real adults when they were my age." "I still feel like a teenager."
Maybe you'd feel more like an adult if you started calling yourself one. Maybe you'd feel more like an adult if you stopped trying to dress like a teenager. Maybe you should move your bed out from the wall and get a wallet. Maybe find a calendar app that works for you.
You are an adult. Even if you live with your parents. Even if you do part-time shift work at minimum wage. Even if you haven't graduated college. Even if you are single. These are adult things to do. Because you are doing them. And you are an adult. Start treating yourself like an adult. Fake it 'till you make it if you have to.
In other, writing-related, news:
That trend on TikTok of 20-40 something women authors (and writers yet to be published) promoting their books like,
"Omg! I can't believe I've sold X number of copies!! I never thought I would!" "Ahhhh imagine publishing your book and all your dreams come true and now you get to meet famous authors and work with big names in the industry!!" "Would you read a book where [proceeds to list a bunch of oversaturated tropes that tell me nothing about the actual plot]?"
It reeks of infantilization. If you didn't believe anyone would want to read your book, why should I? You made it on the NYT bestseller list! Stop acting like a mega-fan who got to meet a celebrity. You are their peer! "Would you read a book--" What if I wouldn't? Why does it matter to you what I think of your book? And for the love of god stop hiding behind tropes you know are already popular. "Here is my book: This is what it is about." Have some goddamn confidence.
It is fine to mention in passing "this idea was really far-fetched so I didn't know if it would appeal" or "I was struggling with self-esteem when I wrote this". It's fine to fan a little bit. It's fine to discuss the tropes in your book. But why are you building your brand as an author off of your inferiority complex? You are using your poor self-esteem as a marketing tactic to seem "humble" and "relatable" but it's coming across as unprofessional and desperate for reassurance. You are an adult. You are competent. The more you act like it the more you will believe it.
And of course, I haven't seen a man promote his book this way...
On another note, do any of the 20-40 something women writers who do "write with me" videos on TikTok actually enjoy writing or are they just doing it for the aesthetic?
They all have gorgeous minimalism writing spaces full of white and pink and a macbook beneath a window. Their makeup is done and they are conventionally pretty to start with. But their entire video is just them talking about how little progress they made, how many pages they deleted, how often they got distracted, how frustrated they are. And like, yeah. We all have those days. But what about the good lines you can't wait to share? The days when the words just flow? The cool stuff you learned while researching? Why don't you ever make videos about that?
Is this some other attempt to seem "relatable" by only talking about the "bad" side of writing? Because again, it's coming across as lacking confidence at best and, at worst, that you don't actually know how to write. And that is not the brand you want as an author.
Again, its always women. Why must women market their self-esteem issues in order to sell their art? Why must we be perpetually awestruck children (girlies, book girls) in over our heads?

I was forced to write a paper on the US flag code in second grade because I stuck my tongue out at someone during the Pledge Of Allegiance and now I am actively weaponizing what was supposed to be indoctrinating propaganda against the people who tried to indoctrinate me by repeatedly pointing out every time a "Patriotic" conservative violates US Flag Code.
My current favorite is insisting that thin blue line flags are actively unpatriotic desecrations of the flag. They get especially riled when you call it a bastardization too.
And violating the flag code isn't just that! If they have the flag on a single item of clothing they are wearing that is not a US military uniform, it counts as a violation of the flag code. If they don't dispose of any depiction of the of the flag properly by folding it properly and burning it? That's a violation baby! Lay a flag on the ground to take a picture on it? You just desecrated that flag and it has to be burnt now.
And I will point out every little violation that these people do to them and lecture them at great length about it and make them realize just how out of depth they are in something that they thought they knew just to rub in their face how insane and unrealistically draconian the codes they worship are 😈
