Just be patient with me (Loki & Gender neutral X reader Drabble)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18+ blog: It is YOUR responsibility, as a reader, to think about the content that you consume at your own discretion.  ~
Summary: Following an argument with Loki you take a long car ride to an unfamiliar location. You should have asked where he was taking you, but you decided against it, not wanting to argue again. However in light of everything he brings you to a spot high up on a hill, a spot where you both gaze up at the stars, and in his own way he apologies to you about everything.
Warnings: None
------------------------------
You and Loki had an argument a few hours ago about where your relationship is going. Your plan about the conversation hadn’t gone as well as you’d hoped it would, especially since you’ve been together for several months now, so it only seemed logical to you to have the conversation. Of course he acted like many men typically do, being reserved from expressing his inner feelings, quick to defend his rights to keep things as they are, while seeing no need to change things as everything had been going well. Despite how visibly upset you’d gotten by what transpired with Loki being his usual stubborn and childish self, things ended in a tiff between the two of you.
This being said it made this current car ride intense and silent, besides the roaring of the engine, as well as the sound of small stones and pieces of gravel crunching beneath the tires, as Loki drove off the main road and down a dirt road instead. As it got darker Loki switched his headlights to full beam. You noticed the change in direction as it wasn’t to anywhere of familiarity, yet you didn’t question his whereabouts either, you should have but you didn’t want to end up in another argument while everything was still sour between you both. Decidedly you kept quiet, keeping your eyes on the dark silhouettes of the passing scenery, whilst enduring however long this would take.
After sometime Loki turned off the dirt road, parking the car quite literally in the middle of nowhere, before shutting off the engine and headlights simultaneously. The silence continued for a few more minutes as you remained parked, until he cleared his throat, before getting out of the car and coming around to your side. Just like always he opened the door for you and helped you out, in that respect things were the same, but the rest of the situation made you wish he would open up more. Only you know he has trouble with it and to fully be able to comprehend it you have to learn to be a little more patient with him.
“I want to show you something.” Those are his first words he’s spoken since leaving the comfort of your apartment you shared together. You are puzzled by his choice in words given there’s nothing that you can see out here and certainly not at night. Although you didn’t object when he took your hand in his, this small gesture showed a glimmer of hope for the pair of you yet.
A shimmer of green suddenly passed along his fingers on his free hand, creating a green sphere to appear before you, it then began to float ahead along a trail through some long grass. The green sphere being your guiding light as Loki began leading you away from the car. As it turned out the walk from the car was quite far, the silence had continued on between you again, although his grip on your hand was tight and protective the entire time.
Eventually after a long walk and a climb up a huge hill the green sphere had stopped at the very top. Loki's hand slipped away from yours, as he used his magic to make a green checkered blanket to appear on the grass at your feet, and with another flick of his wrist the green sphere faded into nothingness. He proceeds to gesture for you to sit down first on the blanket, your curiosity certainly has piqued by this point, then you take a seat comfortably upon the blanket followed by Loki sitting behind you. His knees up high on either side of you, his feet planted on the blanket, while his chest pressed against your back and a protective arm wrapping around your waist.
Loki sighs softly, his breath hitting against the back of your neck, and sending a noticeable shiver down your spine. Not that he mentions it. However as the two of you sit up on top of the hill you both look up at the night sky. Gazing at the beautiful and natural wonders of the world, seeing the changes of the colours between the blues, pinks and violets with an array of stars twinkling like little fireflies that are embedded in the sky. This. This right here is exactly what you realised he wanted to show you, a warm feeling soon began to fill your senses from the realisation too, after all it wasn't a sight you could clearly see from your apartment due to the illumination of the city lights.
"I am not very good with words...at least not the kind of words that come from the heart. The kind of words which matter most..one thing you should always rely on is my actions and my little tokens of affection. They are how I can communicate my feelings for you, my love. Although do not despair about being abandoned, as I never will, I'm not going anywhere. And over time in my own way I will show you my entire heart. Just be patient with me." His voice was loving in that moment, a hint of his vulnerability seeping out too.
Despite him not exactly saying in words that he was sorry about the argument earlier, this turned out to be his way of apologising to you, wanting to show you what you truly mean to him. As you leaned back into his chest and a smile appearing on your lips was enough for him to know you'd forgiven him.

When you arrive at the safe house you nearly drop to the floor with your bag, your entire body sagging.
Bucky shuffles over to the small makeshift kitchen and he searches the cabinets, his shoulders slumping with the small victory of finding a bottle of whiskey. He grabs two glasses and fills them before walking to the couch.
“I’m so fucking tired,” you sigh.
Bucky grunts in agreement and falls onto the couch, taking up half of it with the wide spread of his legs. He passes you the glass before downing half of his. You take a sip and set it on the small table.
“I have a headache,” he grumbles, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“My back is killing me,” you whine as you sit next to him and bump his knee out of the way.
Your head falls back and you close your eyes but you can feel his stare.
“What?” you ask, peeking one eye open.
“I’ll rub your back if ya want doll,” he says with a small smile.
You clear your throat and adjust yourself on the couch, just the thought of his touch setting your skin ablaze.
“Magic metal fingers,” he adds, as he wiggles the shiny digits in front of you.
You drag your teeth over your bottom lip, your eyes glued to his fingers and the way they move.
“I’ll…” you whisper, swallowing hard, “I’ll give you head.”
Bucky’s metal hand stops moving and his flesh hand tightens around his drink, the glass cracking under the pressure.
“What?” he asks, licking his lips.
“What?” you echo as you shake your head with feigned shock.
He continues to stare, the corners of his mouth turning up the longer he does.
“I think you made a mistake doll.”
“Did I?” you squeak. “I’m pretty sure I said I’ll rub your head…you know you said you’d rub my back so I can return the favor…you do have a headache right?”
“That’s not what you said doll face.”
He puts down the broken glass of whiskey, his eyes never leaving yours, and inches closer.
“Yes it is,” you counter, tone slightly snarky.
“Are you sure?” he asks, resting his metal arm along the back of the couch.
His fingertips brush against your bare shoulder then travel higher to your neck where he presses lightly to massage your tense muscles.
You tremble from his touch, your eyes squeezing shut as you silently curse your body.
You can’t stop the low moan that leaves the back of your throat before you breathe out, “sure, I’m sure.”
“Ok then,” he smirks.
He removes his hand and you whine but before you can beg him to continue he pulls you between his thighs and places both hands on your shoulders, leaning closer and whispering against the shell of your ear, “but just in case you said what we both know you said, I’m more than happy to return the favor for that.”

Therapy Fit for a God Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Loki/OFC Rated M (may go up to E in future chapters) Trigger Warnings: Angst, talk of suicide, therapy, unhealthy family dynamics
Loki's plans to conquer and rule Midgard have come to a disastrous end. After being captured by the Avengers, he is being held on Earth. Odin has refused to interfere, and the outlook for the God of Mischief appear bleak. His only hope may lie in one mortal woman, a Psychiatric expert brought in to interrogate him.
Dr. Caroline Thorpe is intrigued by Loki and thinks that more lies beneath his actions than is commonly known. Can she find out the truth before he is shipped off to die for crimes against the Earth? And can Loki bring himself to care?

What the Hel were they waiting for?
As he sat in his cell, refusing to give the agents he knew were watching him the satisfaction of seeing him pace, Loki was very well aware he was living on borrowed time. After all, he had just led a murderous alien army against one of their largest cities. He had rolled the dice with the Chitari and lost in humiliating fashion. He knew what his punishment was certain to be, no matter what fantasy Thor tried to peddle. He wished they would just get on with it.
He heard her heels clicking along the tiled floor before she came into view. Plastering a superior sneer onto his face, Loki looked up to see a surprisingly youthful, if not exactly young, woman in a navy skirt suit and pale pink blouse approach his glass cage. With a smile she flashed her badge at the pair of guards flanking the door. He could not hear their words, the prison was soundproofed, but it seemed some sort of disagreement was taking place. Much to his amusement it was the soldiers who finally backed down, punching the code to open his cell into the panel. Weapons drawn they escorted the woman into the enclosure where the God was being held.
As if they needed the weapons. With the inscrolled cuffs binding his wrists, Loki was incapable of accessing his magical powers. Hel, he could not even move his arms far enough to cross them over his chest as habit suggested he do. He supposed he could have used brute strength to muscle his way out, mortals were easy enough to subdue even manacled as he was, but to be honest he didn’t really care enough to try.
The woman flashed him an incongruous smile, only slightly tinged with insecurity, and made her way to the table across from him. Director Fury had been the last person to sit in that seat, and his smile had been very different. It seemed one eyed men of all realms agreed that Loki was beyond redemption. Fury had taken great pleasure in informing Loki that Odin had failed to lift a finger to retrieve his adopted son from the vengeance of Midgard. Thor, that soft hearted oaf, had begged for mercy on his behalf, but when had Loki ever been shown mercy?
“Hello,” the woman greeted him, sitting down and opening a large file folder. “My name is Dr. Caroline Thorpe. I have been contracted by the powers that be to conduct a thorough examination and debriefing of you… I see in my notes that you are listed variously as Prince Loki Odinson, Mr. Loki Laufeyson, Loki God of Mischief… How would you like me to address you?”
“Your Majesty would be acceptable,” Loki drawled, crossing his ankles in front of him as he spread out on the bench indolently. “My King, Your Worship, My God… any of those will work.”
“Prince Odinson it is,” she said with a small smile.
“No!” Loki surprised himself by his vehemence. “Not that. Odin is no father to me, as he has made very clear of late.”
“Very well. Why don’t we just stick with Loki then.”
“And shall I call you Caroline?” he asked, making his voice a purr.
“If you wish,” she shrugged, ignoring his attempt to disconcert her.
“Just what are you a doctor of, may I ask?”
“I have phds in Psychology, Neuro Development, and Trauma Therapy,” she told him.
“And you work for SHIELD.”
“Not officially. They bring me in from time to time. I helped Mr. Stark after his experience in captivity, and have worked profiling other threats, real and perceived, from various individuals. But this is not about me. This is about you.”
“Are you here to determine if I am sane enough to stand trial?” he snarled, leaning forward now and narrowing his eyes. “I assure you I am ready. I find I tire of Midgardian hospitality, and if the only way to end it is via the axe, then for gods’ sake, let them swing it.”
“Is that what you want?” she asked, resting her chin on one hand.
“What?”
“The axe. To die. In short, are you suicidal?”
“Suicide is a coward’s way out,” he snapped.
“Maybe,” she still sounded unphased. “Or it’s a desperate man’s way out. When pain is so intense that living seems the lesser trial. You suggested earlier that I call you your majesty. You served as King of Asgard for a time, did you not?”
“I was the rightful King!”
“And how did that come about? Your father – excuse me, Odin, is still alive.”
“You wouldn’t understand.”
“Try me,” she leaned back in her chair, raising her eyebrows.
“When one lives for thousands of years as we do, rather than the pitiful lifespan of your kind, and one exerts the amount of power that Odin wields, from time to time a rest is required. It is called the Odin Sleep. Pretentious, don’t you think? In any event, he had fallen into it. Thor was banished, and so I became King.”
“Thor was banished? Why?”
“For the good of Asgard! Had he been allowed to remain and to rule, it would have been nothing but genocide and war across the nine realms!”
“My goodness! How fortunate for all of us then that Odin saw that.”
“Odin,” Loki sneered, standing up and pacing despite his best intentions. “Odin was a fool,  blinded by a father’s fancy. He never saw Thor for what he was. No one did. They were all ready to give the realm up to him.”
“And yet, he was banished.”
“Ah, I see your game. It is not enough to convict me for my crimes here on Midgard. You want to tar me with my prior acts as well. Very well, I confess. I am not ashamed of it. Thor was a danger to the nine realms. No one else was going to stop him, so I took matters into my own hands. I allowed in a small group of Jotun soldiers to the vault. Not enough to steal anything, mind you. The destroyer was more than a match for them. Just enough to delay the ceremony and give my short tempered brother a match to light the flame of his temper. And what could be more predictable than that he went roaring in, hammer flying, to try and take on an entire race with nothing more than a mere handful of companions. We would be dead if I had not alerted the guard to his intent! But do I receive thanks for that? No. All I got from halting the ill thought assault on the Jotunheim was condemnation, betrayal, and pain.”
He had not meant to reveal so much. The memory still caused pain, in as much as he allowed himself to feel anything. He had saved them, all of them, only to be accused of jealousy and worse by those who were supposed to be his friends. He had needed so much at that time to feel that he was one of them. Loki had always struggled with the knowledge that he was an outsider, only allowed because he was Thor’s brother, held in the blond God’s affections like a beloved pet. With Thor gone and his own true parentage revealed, Loki had been more alone than ever. He longed for one of them, anyone, to reach out to him. Not that he had any delusion of taking Thor’s place in their group, he did not want to. But with his very identity spinning out of his control, any sign that he was part of a group, a welcome member of the band, would have helped him to keep his moorings.
“I am not trying to convict you of anything,” Dr. Thorpe said calmly. “I am simply trying to ascertain what led to your invasion. Surly it was not as simple as envying your brother’s throne.”
“I never wanted the throne!” Loki snapped, automatically. He didn’t know why, no one ever believed him. “No, I see your game. You want to lull me into a false sense of ease. To play the kind, friendly counterpoint to Fury’s righteous anger. You will not convict me, as you say, you will merely draw out confidences until I convict myself.”
“Then you think yourself guilty then?”
“Guilty of trying to improve the miserable lives of the pathetic inhabitants of this world, yes.”
“As long as we obeyed your commands.”
“Well, I am a God.”
“But you don’t want a throne.”
“It is not a matter of want. I was born to it. Told day after day, century after century that it was my destiny to rule.”
“Why was that do you think?” she asked him.
“All part of the AllFather’s glorious plans,” he laughed without humor. “He told both of his ‘sons’ they were meant to rule. He just didn’t tell us the rest of it. Thor was meant to rule over the splendor of Asgard, an adoring people supporting his every jingoistic impulse. Whereas I was destined for a different, colder fate. King of race of monsters who I was indoctrinated to despise. A race, might I add, that would not look with adoration at me despite my parentage, but rather revulsion that such a weak, stunted puppet as I was being forced upon them by the very colonizer who destroyed their home and stole me from my fated death. Oh yes, an equally wonderful destiny for us both.”
“It is true then? Odin stole you from a Jotun temple when you were a baby?”
“Abandoned by my other loving father. Yes. A happy tale, is it not?”
“Better than dying in the cold,” she suggested.
“Is it? The warm embrace of a family? A family where a common theme was the destruction of all the monster Jotuns? One of the first games my brother and I played was of the great battle in which King Thor would lead the mighty army of Asgard. Thor was always the King, even then. He would swoop in, legions behind him, and slay every last Frost Giant, that the evil, bestial race die out forever. And how did Odin react? By tousling his blond head and handing him Mjornir, the weapon with which to obtain his genocidal heart’s desire. Tell me, Dear Doctor, what such an upbringing would instill in a Jotun child. Do you think they would learn to love their people? To see the good in themselves? And when their true nature was revealed, what then?”
“It must have been terrifying.”
“I fear nothing.”
“No? You say your brother dreamed of killing all of the Jotuns. Tell me, Loki, when you found out what you were, did you fear – did you think he might include you in his plans?”
“I fail to see what this has to do with the invasion.”
“Forget the invasion for a moment. It must have crossed your mind. Just that day Thor had led you all to the Jotunheim to slay the Frost Giants. He tried to take on the entire race, wipe out their evil forever, as you said. All of that hate, all of that killing fervor, directed at a group that you were suddenly included in.”
Loki scoffed and looked away, but inside he was in turmoil. The fear had been almost crippling. He had been sorry at first that Thor had been banished. He had meant for his scheme to end in the coronation being delayed, had never thought that it would go as far as Odin casting his brother out of Asgard. He loved Thor, and while their relationship was not without conflict, he could not imagine his life without him.
And then the whisper of a thought had slid like a knife into his brain. His arm and hand had not burned but turned blue where the Frost Giant touched him. What did that mean? Quietly he had made his way into the vault, treading the long familiar halls until he stood before the nook containing the casket of endless winter. It was as if he could hear it singing to him, a song that spoke of sheer cliffs and sparkling snows, crisp days and chilling nights. Compelled, he had reached out and clutched the casket, and his world had ended.
When he felt Odin appear behind him, Loki had known a last glimmer of hope. Surely this was some Jotun trick. His father would deny it, would explain why this was happening to him and make everything alright. Instead, Odin had confirmed in stark, harsh words Loki’s worst fears. He was a monster. No wonder he had been shunned all his life. No wonder he was left to beg for scraps at Thor’s heels. He was the unwanted son of Asgard’s mortal enemy. One of the evil creatures Thor had sworn to eliminate from existence.
Thank the Norns that Thor was not there! He had been even more dismissive than usual of late, scorning Loki’s advice and belittling him in public these days as well as in private. Loki had hoped that it was merely the stress of the coronation, but what if it was more? What if Thor was beginning to sense that something was wrong with Loki? What if he was preparing himself for the moment when his hatred of the Frost Giants drove him to take the life of one who had been raised as his brother?
“Thor directs a killing fervor at whoever happens to be in his line of vision,” Loki tried for a bored flippancy. “Why should I have expected to be exempt?”
“Because you were his brother,” Dr. Thorpe suggested.
“Ah, but I am not.”
“Aren’t you?”
“If I was, do you think he would have so casually let me fall from the rainbow bridge? Oh, he made a token reach for me out of habit, as did Odin, but do you really think that if the combined might of Thor, God of Thunder, and Odin, AllFather tried to save me I would have fallen into the abyss?”
“Or not even Gods, as you call yourselves, are infallible.”
“Careful, little Doctor, you tread on heresy!”
“Hardly the first time,” she flashed a distracting smile despite his attempt to once more intimidate her, “I’m a diehard agnostic.”
Loki took a closer look at this woman who had been brought in to interrogate him. She was attractive, for a mortal. Bright, intelligent eyes, thick hair, conservatively dressed but not without a certain sense of style he could appreciate. More than that though, she seemed unintimidated by him. All of the other mortals he had come in contact with were obviously terrified of him. Whether they expressed it by hostile attempts at intimidation or shrinking visibly in his presence, he had easily read their fear in presence. This doctor though, she seemed completely unbothered to be locked in a room with a mass murderer. Absurdly, Loki was a bit offended by this. He had worked hard to come across as menacing in his takeover attempt. The least he deserved as a balm to his bruised ego was to see the Midgardians squirm when he growled.
A top on the glass sounded and Loki and the doctor both looked over to see a blond man of older years for a mortal glaring at them through the window. Ah, the alpha approach to fear. Puffing out his chest a bit, Loki broadened his shoulders and sneered at the man who’s name he refused to learn but who had barked at him before. Dr. Thorpe looked no less happy than he to see the bureaucrat, but after a brief grimace only Loki was allowed to see due to his position, she stood up and made her way to the door.
***
Caroline struggled to contain her irritation as she exited the glass cell, working to paste a serene look onto her over expressive face. She had lost count of the number of times her failure to hide her thoughts had gotten her into hot water with authorities at her various posts. It was her Achilles heel; no matter how much training she had in various methods of psychology, she had never mastered the blank stare that so many therapists affected.
“Secretary Pierce,” she greeted the man, trying for a friendly tone and not convincing herself. “What brings you down here?”
“I was about to ask you the same question,” the man did not look pleased.
“Sir? I was just debriefing the detainee, as ordered.”
And she had just begun to make progress! She knew, absolutely knew beyond a doubt that there was more going on with this Asgardian Prince than the world was aware of. Everything about his actions since arriving on Earth had been a jumble of contradictions. He was obviously brilliant but made errors that anyone could have foreseen. He demanded obeisance in grand statements about his Godliness, but Caroline would swear that she saw nothing but self-loathing in his eyes.
Why had he come here? It was obvious to her that he was running from something or towards, she was not yet sure, but her instincts told her it was vital to find out. To do that, she had to get him to trust her, at least a little, and she would not do that with glowering government dignitaries hovering over her shoulder.
“I did not order any such thing,” Pierce said, glaring at her. “The prisoner is dangerous. He is scheduled to be transferred to the Raft tomorrow, where he will be tried, condemned, and executed.”
“Director Fury gave the order, Sir,” she bit back the angry retort that the prisoner had yet to stand trial, and therefore his conviction, much less his death, was a bit premature.
“Fury’s gone soft,” one of the agents who always seemed to flank Pierce muttered.
“I dare you to say that to his face,” Caroline said sweetly. “Sir, if the prisoner is leaving us tomorrow anyway, and will not be around in any capacity much longer after that, then what harm could there be in talking to him? Maybe I will discover something that could be of use to us against future threats.”
“You really think you can get something out of him?”
As one, they all turned to where Loki was lounging indolently on his bench, a mocking gaze taking them all in as if he was holding them prisoner rather than the other way around.
Lord, he was attractive, a small voice remarked inconsequentially in her mind. Caroline tried not to blush as she turned back to the men who all towered over her. The last thing she needed was for Pierce and his goons to suspect she had a soft spot for the alien invader. She would never get near him again.
“I think that if I don’t, I will only have wasted my own time and his,” she replied. “Threats have not worked; he doesn’t fear us in the slightest. Why not let me try a different approach.”
“You have until the pick him up tomorrow,” Pierce agreed begrudgingly. “After that, the Asgardian’s time is up.”
Nodding and letting her smile slip away as she turned her back on the exiting men, she focused on the one sitting behind what she knew was impenetrable glass, wrists shackled together.
One day to decipher the mystery this man represented. She had her work cut out for her.

Ship it/Don't Ship it
Frostiron, WinterFrost, Winteriron, Pepperony. (The last I'm grinning evilly at because I will look forward to the angry discourse. LOL)
FrostIron
Ship It (I SHIP IT HARD.)
What made you ship it?
Around the time the first Avengers movie came out, I was just dipping my toe into Tumblr and Twitter fandom. I found and started following a ton of RP accounts on Twitter. And since RDJr is my favorite ever since Weird Science, there was a lot of Iron Man fanart on both of my dashboards. Shippy fanart started to slip in -- and while Stony was very prominent, so was FrostIron. My love for Loki had already started to bloom (plus, I was fascinated that IRL British Ginger Dork could, with a little hair dye, become My New Favorite Villain), and seeing him constantly paired with My Favorite New Hero -- and there was A LOT of very cool art --made me go Ooh. Plus, I befriended this awesome Tony RP writer who had an awesome RP thread with a Loki, and that, plus all the fics I started to read, just plunged me, heart eyes first, into SHIPPING IT HARD. I watched the movie 10x in the theatre, started watching all the interviews with RDJr and Hiddles, and eventually, I read a college au (that I loved) and decided I could totally write them even tho I hadn't written anything in a couple years. Thus, Dark Side.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Besides the whole enemies-to-lovers thing? And besides the fact the ship was comprised of two of my favorite actors (at the time)? I mean, their whole dynamic is not so secretly my ideal relationship. The sarcastic barbs lobbied back and forth that rests comfortably atop the sexual tension the ability to keep up with each other is flamed on by. The intelligence that kind of quipping and humor requires -- and let's face it: someone is always hotter when they can stimulate your mind and your body. Add in the bonding that can happen over the shared Terrible Paternal Relationship and The Trauma That Makes Our Humor So Great and how they can heal each other, the debate between science vs. magic, and how they're much more alike than one would think. The fics that explore how discovering how much they have in common and how they learn to see each other in a different light (whether superhero and supervillain or not) are some of my faves and an element I often insert in my own fics. IDK, I just love them.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Not really? Any gripes I have are more with authors' characterizations of them. I don't go telling anybody they can't write them the way they choose, tho. I just nope out of fics that have anything I don't want to read. And then I write my own. :D
WinterFrost
Ship It
What made you ship it?
Similar to FrostIron, I discovered WinterFrost through mostly RP. But probably what made me fall head over heels for this pair was dipping my toe into RP myself. The friend whose Tony Stark I loved mentioned in convos that they wanted to start RPing a Bucky but wanted him paired with a Loki. They asked me if I wanted to try my hand at RP, so I did. This was about 6-7 months before CA:TWS was released, so there wasn't much if any, WinterFrost content yet -- and it was actually still called Lucky at the time. Anyway, Bucky was post-CATFA, and my Loki was post-Avengers (we mutually decided to start there instead of post-The Dark World). They randomly met and organically began to fall in love. The truth is, this ship is special to me bc, as we wrote Bucky and Loki falling in love, we were falling in love. So, it's all kind of woven together with my own love story. Kind of bittersweet now.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
There is a bit of a dark element to WinterFrost that I'm kind of drawn to. The RP was the only place I ever really explored that (kind of) -- although I did have an idea to turn my PWP WinterFrost into a serial killer AU. I eventually abandoned that idea. For a lot of reasons. By dark element, I mean the darkness in both characters potentially being compatible and flourishing. Bucky as the Winter Soldier was almost devoid of emotion (except when he saw Steve, in the movie at least); Loki, in contrast, was highly motivated by his emotions but kind of let himself get battered and embittered by them. At least the way I wrote my Loki. Beyond that, there is a great capability for them to bond over their trauma (again, similar to FrostIron). There is no bigger troll than Bucky (c'mon, he grew up with Steve Rogers, ffs), and Loki would relish in the chaos Bucky would cause with his commentary. I feel like there's a mutual mending they can do for each other. Loki can help Bucky battle his demons -- as a demon slayer himself -- and Bucky can show Loki a love like he's never known.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Nah. Similar to FrostIron, it's down to characterizations. I'll literally read anything about these two.
WinterIron
Ship It
What made you ship it?
I was already into FrostIron and WinterFrost -- and RPing both. So it was kind of like, "I ship Tony and Loki and Bucky and Loki, why not Tony and Bucky?" I RPd that for a bit, too. I haven't read or written a lot of this ship, so I'm not sure what I like beyond it being two actors I love, two characters I love, and liking that they could both find a little bit of happy with each other. Also, it's interesting to think about the internal crisis Tony would endure for falling in love with the man responsible for his parents' deaths.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
I honestly have no idea. Like I said, I haven't really dug deep into this one yet, like I have FrostIron and WinterFrost. It's definitely one of my smaller ships.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
No, but I wish people would leave WinterIron shippers alone. Way too much hate flung at this ship and the people who write it. It's annoying.
Pepperony
Don’t Ship It
Why don’t you ship it?
Honestly? It's because of Gwyneth Paltrow. I don't like her, as an actress, as a personality, as a hawker of vag candles -- whatever. I never liked her portrayal of Pepper. And don't come for me, y'all, bc believe me, I know how this sounds -- but I thought she looked too old to play Pepper. Yes, she was only 34, and RDJr was 43, and that's an age gap in itself (and coincidentally, Leslie Bibb was 35, which btw she does not look older than GP and...yeah). I think I felt the way they were portraying Tony Stark's womanizing ways it didn't make sense (to me!) that he'd go for someone closer to his age and stick to younger women. (Blame my brother. He's been dating girls my age and younger since high school. His first son's mother is my age. She was 4mo along when we graduated from hs. He dated a slew of girls near or around my age well into his 30s. His second son's mother was 6yrs younger than me. He's gross, I know. I tell him all the time.) Anyway, I love Tony and Pepper's dynamic in the comics (the few I've read), and when I RPd a Pepper (I did not use GP; I used my idea of a perfect Pepper: Jessica Chastain), I was told the way I wrote her was closer to comic!Pepper than MCU!Pepper, which I gathered was a good thing. People often misunderstand that my distaste for Pepper has nothing to do with the character herself. I LOVE the character. I think she's a badass, and I think she's the best working partner Tony could have -- which is why probably why I always writer her as Tony's closest confidant. But I also think they did Pepper a disservice by casting GP.
What would have made you like it?
A different actress, lol.
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
Like I said, I love the character of Pepper. She's a great foil to some of Tony's more grandiose ideas and she has a way of handling him without him realizing he's being handled. Maybe I'd ship it if she didn't start out as his secretary? There's something very creepy about a relationship between a boss and a secretary to me. Idk. As Besties, I love Tony and Pepper. Beyond that? No.
Don't come at me yall. @mischief-and-tea-by-the-sea made me say all these things. LOL (jk ily!)
Thanks for asking!

If you get this let’s spread some positivity 🌈
Link the 4 writers with whom you chatted recently and say what makes their fics special ^D
*cracks knuckles*
@currish-rosewolfe: Where to begin? We've bonded over our in-depth analysis of Hiddles gifs, but she's quickly become one of my favorite writers here (and a dear friend)! If you're craving some healing, comforting, exquisite smut, she's your gal! Seriously, everything she writes is phenomenal and so heart-wrenchingly beautiful. And her insights into Loki's character are always spot-on. (Also, I am incredibly excited for the 12 Months of Killing project.)
@sarahscribbles: Sarah is a master of the craft/queen of smut, and the way she blends softness and intimacy with such delicious, debauched filth never ceases to amaze me. Her sub!Loki fics have slain me more times than I can count, and I am completely infatuated with her soft dom!Loki. Also, her fluff is absolutely divine. And the way she writes banter? OH MY GOD. It's so natural, and the words just flow right off the page screen. I always have such visceral reactions reading her works and she makes me want to be a better writer if that makes sense. (And her ideas for the Sakaar Files? Just bury me already!)
@use-your-telescope: I've gotten quite a few sneak peeks into the world of E's Loki x OC long fic, The Trickster, and let me tell y'all: We are in for a treat! She is such a gifted, poignant writer, and her talent for storytelling blows my mind. The thought and care she's put into this fic is inspiring, and it's nothing short of magic when an author can effortlessly immerse the reader into the world they've created. (I've loved connecting with someone who thinks about Loki's motivations and psyche as much as I do!)
@tripleyeeet: OMG, the sheer talent! From the moment I first read What's the Occasion, I was obsessed and immediately wanted to be their friend. Summer's writing is so sensually poetic and leaves me STUNNED each time. The pacing is brilliant, and I am always fully absorbed in their works. Plus, their explorations into the complexity of Loki's emotions are perfect. (I can't wait to delve into their upcoming Loki x OC long fic, PREY.)
Basically, these are my four whores of the Loki apocalypse and you should follow them if you're not already!

I am once again happy that my favorite FB fan page (Hiddles Magic) is run by someone who’s a huge fan of Zawe’s and has been cheering for this relationship since they were in “Betrayal.” It makes for a much more pleasant social media experience today. 💕
Always nice to come across a Tom blog/account that’s not nasty or passive aggressive towards Zawe

the more i learn about the Loki series the more i fear for s2
why are they STILL at McDonald's? what is that odd dance which ends in hair flipping? if it's magic casting i have so many questions and idk if i want answers. please someone put Tom's Loki in more green clothes; i know why he's wearing what he is but it feels (to me) like a weird mix of the office and the night manager. pleaSE i just want Loki to feel more Loki, and i can't put into words what i mean but i know this is a different Loki i just want him to be more themselves, less Hiddles, if that makes sense to anyone else

Loki’s plans to conquer and rule Midgard have come to a disastrous end.

Caroline sat back with a small smile on her face as she listened to Tony grilling Loki on everything related to the Infinity stones. It was amusing to her how similar their minds worked, despite one being grounded in Earthly science and the other in Asgardian magic. They were both quick, clever, and given to intuitive leaps that very few other people could follow. It didn't take long before she saw the recognition light up in each of their eyes as they took the measure of each other.
Having given up on personally following the ins and outs of galaxy creating and shattering rocks, Caroline allowed her intuition to turn her gaze over to Loki's brother. Thor had been uncharacteristically quiet as the two geniuses prattled on. As she looked at him now, Caroline saw uncertainty and even a touch of hurt in his eyes.
"Gentlemen," she said, getting to her feet, "I think we can all agree that I am not the practical science or magical artifact expert in this group. So, if you will excuse me, I am just going to see to something outside. Thor, do you think you could help me?"
"What is it you need, love?" Loki asked, immediately abandoning his conversation to possessively take her hand. "I would be more than happy to assist you."
"No, you stay and talk shop with Tony," she insisted, insides fluttering at the way he hovered over her.
"Besides, if you think I am letting the two of you out of my sight at the same time, you are in for a rude awakening," Tony added.
"I hardly think you could prevent it," Loki bristled, pulling her close to him.
"Down boys," she sighed, pulling away. "Thor will do nicely. Though Loki, if you would... something warmer would be nice."
She gestured down at her clothing, and a moment later she was covered from head to toe in a warm down parka, snow pants, hat, scarf, and mittens so that only her face was visible. She also noted that instead of the warm, feminine colors he had dressed her in before she was now swathed in green with bright gold accents. Clearly her prince was set on marking his territory, and despite her independence it gave her a giddy sense of excitement that Loki clearly considered her to belong to him.
"Nice," Tony commented as Loki kissed her mouth lingeringly. "Real subtle there, Sigfried. Surprised you didn't just pee on her shoes."
"Play nice, boys," she scolded as Loki glared at Stark. "We will be back soon."
Linking her arm through Thor's, she led him out the back door onto the small porch.
"What is it I may assist you with, Doctor Thorpe?" Thor asked as the door shut behind them.
"Well, to begin with, you could tell me what is troubling you," she suggested, looking up into the stormy blue of his eyes.
"What do you mean?" he sputtered.
"Thor, it doesn't take a therapist to see that something has upset you. You can talk to me about it if you like; I swear it will go no farther."
"I see you are as wise as friend Stark has said," he replied ruefully, running his hand through his long blond hair. After a moment, she saw him reach a decision as he turned to her again. "Is it true? Did Loki really try to end his own life?"
"I was not there," she began carefully, "but it certainly seems that way to me. Your brother was in the midst of a psychological crisis. The entire fabric of his life had just been revealed to be a lie."
"I didn't know about any of that," Thor told her, voice earnest. "Loki was always different, but I never imagined that he was adopted, much less of a different race! Had I known, I would have done more to make sure that he felt welcome and at home on Asgard."
"Perhaps you should have done that anyway," she gently reproved him. "Being different is difficult enough for children or even adults."
"You did not know Loki," Thor shook his head. "He was not an easy person to assist. His pride is prickly and his wit biting. Sometimes it seemed that he was daring the others to torment him. Still, I could have done more, you are correct. And I should have sensed something was wrong. But I was away! Father had exiled me, you see."
"I am aware," she nodded.
"Loki tried to speak up for me when I was exiled, but he was silenced. No one tried to speak against Odin a second time, unless they were a fool, and that he has never been. When he came to visit me here on Earth and told me that Father was dead and Mother refused to see me, that was the lowest I have ever felt in my life."
"It was a cruel thing to do," Caroline sighed, feeling for them both. "I cannot excuse it, but perhaps I can offer some explanation."
"Please."
"He was afraid," she said simply.
"Of what?" Thor looked baffled.
"Of you, Thor. You hated Frost Giants. You had just been banished for trying to exterminate them. If you returned, how could he be sure that you would not continue that plan down to the last Jotun living in your family's home?"
"I would never kill Loki!"
"I know that," she said, sensing it was true. "But think of how he must have been feeling. His world upside down, Odin falling asleep before he could ease the knowledge, Frigga consumed with caring for her husband. There was no one he could talk to. His secret was shameful in his eyes, and it came just at the same time ultimate power was thrust into his hands. Who could possibly handle all of that gracefully? Loki lashed out because he was in pain himself."
"I was so angry when I returned," Thor's face was screwed up with the memory. "He had tried to kill me, to kill our friends. And then, when I arrived, he was about to commit genocide!"
"He was about to do the very thing you attempted just days before."
"True, but it was Loki who counselled against it!"
"That was before he knew what he really was."
"Why would he do it?" Thor asked. "He knew it was against Father's wishes."
"I think it is three-fold," she explained slowly. "One, he wanted to vanquish the enemy to prove to Asgard that he was a worthy successor to Odin, making the realm safe as you had wanted to do. Two, it would prove to those who knew his shame, as he saw it, that his loyalty was to the world that raised him rather than the one in which he was born."
"And three?" Thor asked as she hesitated.
"And three, I believe that subconsciously he wanted to kill them in hopes that it would kill the Jotun within himself. It is not a rational motive, but surely you can see how one might seek to blot out what they saw as their secret shame in this way?"
"It makes some sense, what you say," Thor concurred at last. "I thought, when he let go, that he was merely seeking the easy way out. He had pretended before, during our battle. Hanging on to the edge of the rainbow bridge, he had called out to me as a brother, only to dissolve into an illusion when I tried to help him. I thought the plunge into the abyss to be some trick of this sort, that he was hiding away to make us suffer. It was the type of thing he might have done, only to reappear a day or two later. When he didn't emerge, I was distraught, thinking his prank had gone awry and that he was dead indeed."
"It may have been easier if was," she said sadly. "Your brother faced some horrible months, Thor. I will not betray his confidences and tell you of them, and in truth I do not know the whole, but you might ask him, some time, what he suffered after his fall."
"You have given me much to think on," Thor said. "I am glad to know that Loki is not the villain I had feared he had become, but at the same time I find I may not be the hero I had hoped to be."
"It is not that simple, Thor. No one is completely a villain or hero, or at least very few. We all have shadings in us. Sometimes it just takes others believing in us to make us choose the right path."
"I am glad that my brother has you to believe in him," Thor told her, taking her hand between his two large ones. "There is a lightness to Loki's countenance that I have not seen in some time. It is not hard to discern that you are the reason for that change. I will forever be in your debt for that. You are a good doctor."
"It has been my pleasure to help your brother see the light within himself," she blushed at the complement. "Though, to be honest, I stopped being his doctor some time ago. Our relationship is a bit more complicated now."
"I inferred as much from your position when we arrived," he said with a twinkle. "Once I realized that you were there willingly, of course."
"Of course," her blush deepened. "Quite willingly."
"I am doubly glad. You have my full support and blessing."
"Thank you, but I do not know if it is anything that serious," she added, not wanting to give a false impression.
"I know my brother, Dr. Thorpe - Caroline, if I may?" he asked and she nodded. "Loki's feelings for you are quite serious. That is writ plain all over his face, and your clothing. In fact, if I keep you out here any longer, he may just try to end my life again."
"Well, we wouldn't want that," she laughed, heart soaring. "Shall we go inside?"
"Yes, and thank you, for helping me to understand."
***
Loki's jaw clenched as he watched Thor escorting Caroline outside. It wasn't that he didn't trust his brother with her, or that he thought her eye might wander, he merely preferred to have her attention focused on him. He had only just found her; he was not ready to share her with the wider world.
"You and the doc, huh? Didn't see that one coming."
Loki looked over to where Stark was helping himself to a glass of the brown liquor. He was developing a grudging respect for the man - he was quick for a mortal - but that didn't mean he was willing to let him get away with disrespect.
"You will watch what you say about Caroline," he made his voice regal and impressive, but the irksome man just grinned in response.
"So, it's not just convenience then? I had to say, I was wondering. After all, she did come with the shiny blue teleporter. Gotta say you have good taste though. Much better than your taste in scotch, by the way. This is sorely lacking."
"Feel free to not drink it," Loki snarled as Stark tipped back the drink despite its inadequacies.
"Needs must," Tony shrugged. "How did you convince her to spring you? I've been working with her for years now and she always played by the rules before."
"I did not attempt to convince her," Loki answered honestly, enjoying the truth. "In fact, she was quite insistent on helping me. It appears as though I have a draw you are clearly lacking."
"Huh. Maybe it's the horns. You know... symbolism and all. Tell me, is the length indicative, or are you overcompensating?"
"I do not care to discuss my relationship with Caroline with you, Stark," he ground out, but could not resist adding, "as for my physical endowments, suffice to say that the lady had no complaints."
"Well, here's to that!" Stark poured himself another glass and downed it with a toast. "How do you drink this swill?"
"I don't," Loki informed him. "I rarely bother with your Midgardian liquors. Only a child would feel any affect from them."
"Really? What do you drink then?"
With a twist of his hand Loki produced a decanter full of his favorite Asgardian brandy. The deep reddish brown caught the light of the fireplace as he poured it into two snifters that had materialized on table. Stark picked up a glass, swirling it to bring out the flavors before taking sip.
"Now that is what I'm talking about!" he said, savoring the taste.
"Careful, Stark," Loki warned. "This is not a drink for children."
"Good thing I'm all grown up then. Damn, that's good!"
Loki chuckled, relaxing a bit as he sipped his beverage. Really, the man was not all bad. As long as he kept his tongue in check about Caroline, Loki could almost like him. They polished off the first glasses rather quickly, and Loki refilled for them both. He was feeling a familiar rosy glow spread through his limbs. It had been some time since he had relaxed in this fashion. While not as desiresome and intimate as his time spent with Caroline, there was nonetheless something pleasing about sharing a drink with a person in comradery. Before he knew it, they were exchanging stories and laughing like old friends. Only a small part of his brain remained nagging him about Thor and Caroline outside colluding.
"You mean to tell me, if I had simply tapped you an inch in any direction, the scepter would have worked?" he asked in horror as Stark finished explaining the mechanism that kept him alive.
"Swear on Jarvis' life," Tony replied, lifting up his t-shirt to reveal the glowing circle implanted in his chest. "Good thing you're not persistent."
"Good thing you're obnoxious, more like," Loki countered, reaching over to poke at the reactor.
"Um... are we interrupting something?"
Loki turned around to smile at Caroline as she and Thor walked back into the room. She looked so beautiful with the way the cold brought additional color to her cheeks. With a gesture that was a bit more elaborate than it strictly needed to be, he removed the winter wear he had dressed her in, leaving her once more in the t-shirt and shorts that he preferred.
"Does he do that all the time?" Tony demanded as Caroline shrieked in surprise.
"It can be convenient," she allowed, smiling as she walked over to stand near the fire. "A bit high handed, but useful. I see you two are getting along."
"I was just telling Houdini here how close he came to winning his idiotic war against humanity."
"I would not have enjoyed that," Loki said, having had time to consider the idea. "It was much more enjoyable to throw you out the window."
"Why do I feel like I should be offended?" Tony asked, not sounding offended in the least.
"Oh, come on Tony," Caroline laughed as Loki drew her down onto his lap and nuzzled against her neck. "I highly doubt he's the first person to want to defenestrate you. I can personally recall a couple of occasions when the thought might have run through my mind."
"You mean that, Loki?" Thor asked, his voice serious amongst the lighthearted tone in the room. "You are glad you did not win against us?"
"I certainly was doing my best to fail," he confessed candidly. "I all but wrote you a dissertation describing my strategy, brother. Do you really think I could lead no better assault than that?"
Wordlessly, Thor crossed the room and embraced him, an awkward feat since Caroline was perched on his knee. Loki was taken aback for a moment, but slowly he felt his eyes growing suspiciously moist. Blinking away the proof of the sentiment, he raised his arm to return Thor's hug, cautiously allowing the hard knot that had lodged in his heart to loosen ever so slightly.
"I should not have doubted you," Thor told him, holding the side of his face in a gesture Loki had experienced a thousand times. "Forgive me, brother."
"Yeah, the guy did still throw me out a window," Tony chimed in.
"I forgive you," Loki said, ignoring the mortal now lying on his sofa. "And for my part, I am sorry for what I said to you in your cell. About Odin and Frigga. You know Mother would never turn her back on you."
"I should have remembered that. As I should have asked you what had happened when you fell from the Bifrost."
Loki had to be careful or the swelling in his chest would overcome him. He knew how rare it was for Thor to apologize, not that he was in the habit of doing it himself. Wordlessly he looked at the beautiful woman in his arms.
She had done this for him. Not only had she freed him physically from his cell, but she had opened the cell in which he had imprisoned his emotions. Now, thanks to her, he had his brother back, he was closer than he had been in ages to making a friend, and he was hopelessly, dazzlingly in love.
He was happy, he realized. Happier than he had been for as long as he could remember. Which was surely why deep down he was also terrified.

Not only was Hiddles not at the BAFTAS, Joe was! Lol the hiddlegrannies were so pissed. And to top it all off, he confirmed his engagement to Zawe. They had held the tiniest slimmer of hope. On top of that, The Essex Serpent has gotten some shitty reviews. It’s been a bad week for the poor hiddlegrannies.
You know I just looked up The Essex Serpent reviews and Hiddles and Joe are in the same boat with HUGELY divisive shows coming out around the same time.
I’ve genuinely never read a person hate anything as much as this person hated The Essex Serpent:
Like Joel ROASTED this show.
But then this person at Empire absolutely fucking loved it like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread according to them:
So actually Joe and Hiddles and their shows absolutely are in competition with one another yet again 😉😉😉😉😉
A rematch of 2016, the workplace edition.
