I like how the first god to legit be in the kids's corner is Hephaestus.

Because, if you look at the myths, despite not being blameless of treating other gods badly himself, he's most often the other olympians's punching bag. As much as he's included in Olympus, it always feels like the other gods include him reluctantly and with disdain simply because of him being disabled and ugly (even though in the show he's just disabled, the actor they got is actually good-looking but let's forget that).

Neglected by his own mother, married to someone who doesn't love him and openly cheats on him (with other gods no less!), always treated like an inconvenience unless he's being useful by providing other gods with weapons, etc.

Of course he's the first god to recognize the children's pain because he's felt it himself. Of course he's gonna agree when Annabeth says "this isn't how things should be!". And in the end he lets them go without asking for anything in return, something Ares would never have done.

I just think that's what they were trying to say especially with the inclusion of Hephaestus's backstory in the tunnel (which I wish we could've seen more of)

I LOVE the way that the PJO show went with Hephaestus’s character. I headcanon that he was always frustrated with the way the gods and their conditional love worked. How could he not be? He was a victim of it from the very beginning. But now, after thousands of years of dealing with their bs and their children’s bs, he’s resigned to it. Of course all demigods value glory above all else. That’s just the way it is. So he plays along because that’s all he can do, that’s what’s expected of him, and if he doesn’t give demigods a chance at glory, it might hurt his and/or the demigod’s images in the eyes of the other gods.

When Annabeth goes to work trying to free Percy from the chair instead of picking up the shield, it confuses Hephaestus. She’s got a chance at glory right there in front of her. Maybe she’s confused, so he explains it to her.

When she corrects him, tells him that he’s wrong, that’s the first time ever that someone from the godly world has said that to him. The first time that someone has echoed his own beliefs back at him. So of course he rewards her by freeing Percy, and of course he’s going to put in a good word with Athena (if nothing else, to make up for Annabeth turning down the chance at glory that would have won her back Athena’s favor).

I really hope we see more of him. I can speculate all I want based on one episode but I want to see more of how his mind works.

why is cabin 9 specifically so cursed. what's up with Hephaestus and curses. Beckendorf dies and they get cursed. Fire-power Hephaestus kids are bad luck. Their dad owns the Junkyard of the Gods (everything in it is SUPER cursed). There's random cursed items just left abandoned in Bunker 9. Apparently Hephaestus/Aphrodite/Ares relationships are inherently cursed. who hurt them.

sometimes i wonder how demigods are treated because of their parentage (in the riordanverse):

children of the big three feeling outcasted in a camp for outcasts simply because of their power

(another note: what if other demigods feel resentful because children of the big three get better treatment)

people being wary of children of hermes ever since luke’s situation

(hc: after luke admitted to being a traitor nobody would look any of the children of hermes in the eye for a month)

children of ares feeling like they have to fit the stereotype of being the brute/bully to be acknowledged or even seen as a bit powerful

children of aphrodite being seen as “weak” even though those who have charmspeaking could literally bend people to their will

people avoiding children of athena because hubris is their main fatal flaw and they often come off as “know-it-alls”

children of apollo (who are healers like will solace) that are seen as inferior because they heal and not fight

children of minor gods having to deal with practically being insivible/ignored (if they hear “who?” one more time while introducing their godly parent)

children of demeter being boiled down to “plant lovers”

children of hephaestus whos stereotype is literally “fire and machines”

children of dionysus who have to deal with people constantly mocking their father behind his back because he’s “the weakest olympian”

i mean CHB is a place full of kids-teenagers,there’s no way that there isn’t gossip and drama there

Medusa cabin headcanons

The aphrodite cabin are jealous of Medusa's children because they inherited their mother's beauty.

They dislike Poseidon and Athena cabin, but oddly enough, they tolerate the Pegasai.

They don't like being touched without their permission, so if you touch them out of nowhere without their consent, it won't end well

They have great manners, are respectful, and believe in consent. If the new members of their cabin dont have any mannerism, then the members of Medusa's cabin will teach them (Some people see that as old fashioned, but they don't care)

Both the girls and the boys of Medusa cabin are respectful to one another and respect each other's boundaries. But they still act like typical siblings.

Self defense is a must in Medusa cabin considering the curse on them due to Zeus (F u Zeus 🖕)

The Medusa cabin doesn't trust so easily except when it's their siblings. So if they trust you, it's considered a HUGE honor. Same thing when they're in love.

When it comes to romantic relationships, they fall hard, they give their heart and soul into it. So you better cherish that.

They are incredibly devoted and loyal. They would never leave you and they would stick by you through thick and thin.

They can't swim due to their fear of water.

They would be able to recognize when someone is trying to push them away.

Best friends with Hades cabin, maybe Hephaestus and Apollo cabin

Since their mother was considered a monster for a time, the kids sometimes make friends with some of the monsters from their mythology similar to Hephaestus

They sense people who have their mother's tattoo

They may look scary on the inside but they are actually very nice

They like animals more than actual people

Hate animal abuse with a strong passion

Can detect when someone is lying to them

Their hair snakes talk to them.....a lot

Hates bullies, and people who disrespect their mother or those that are different.

Hates Zeus, Athena, and Poseidon with a strong passion

They prefer to hear two sides of the story before making assumptions

They don't like people who make false claims about assault of any kind. (It's not a joke and it's not funny.)

They respect loyal partners whether it's in a team, friendship or a relationship of any kind.

Like their mother, they are defiant and will always look for another way in a life and death situation.
