Please don't get me wrong, I like gale well enough, but he turns me off because I get the impression that he wouldn't care much about what I have to say. He's so intelligent and wise and he clearly has years and years of education and study under his belt. So what on earth could I even talk to him about without boring him to death? Because honestly, I like to talk, like, a lot. I'm just as passionate about stuff but not nearly as knowledgeable and I fucking hate that look on people's face when they're blithely listening to stuff that bored them? Im not knowledgeable enough to have anything to offer him
This is ironically how Gale feels about himself. He feels like he has absolutely nothing to offer anyone, which is why he went after the orb in the first place. He felt inadequate for a goddess, and he feels inadequate for Tav. The idea that Tav is attracted to him genuinely shocks him, too, because from his standpoint ... who could possibly love him? He's just a guy who screws everything up. That's why he's so elated when Tav shares their feelings with him.
Tumblr media
He knows magic, but he doesn't know the world. He's clueless in certain areas. Despite being so knowledgeable and passionate about magic, he wants to know Tav. He doesn't care how intelligent or unintelligent you are, he only cares that you're a good person. I haven't finished his romance yet, but I've made some pretty silly decisions (like licking a dead spider) and he's still sticking by me. His desire for Tav isn't transactional at all. In fact, he'd probably find your question "what on earth could I even talk to him about without boring him to death" perplexing. The answer is anything! Gale's passion is learning and sharing knowledge, and if you talk to him about a subject he's already well versed in, he won't shut you down, he'll just match your enthusiasm. I'm playing as a wizard, and every time I've spoken to him about the Weave or books or anything my character knows as a result of her background, he gets excited, not bored.
Tumblr media
Moreover, Gale's hobbies mainly consist of reading. That's it. He likes to sit on his balcony and read. I'm sure many people would consider that boring, and he knows it. That's why he gets agitated when you first meet him. He blatantly tells you his hobbies and everything he loves; reading, writing poetry, his cat, so when you ask him to elaborate or say "tell me the real you" he gets a bit defensive. He dodges the question about his past and anything regarding the orb, but he was also being 100% honest about who he is. He does love reading, he does write poetry, he does worship his cat, but that's all he really has going for him and he knows it's not substantial. At least not from his perspective. He's insecure.
Tumblr media
Mystra was his entire life. He was secluded from childhood by a groomer and only had Tara and tutors on the side. Then he lived alone in his tower for over a year, fearing death, regretting his mistakes, and reevaluating his life. Companionship is literally the best thing you can offer Gale, because it's the only thing he truly wants. Even just a simple friendship means the world to him. Anything else you bring to the table is an absolute bonus. Don't forget, when you reach his maximum affinity he responds to your queries with, "Always a delight to speak with you."

Isaac explained his type to Maya with great details, as Maya asked him to do. Taut model-like physique, hairs on his legs curled up but his upper body smooth with not even a scar, with classic Anglo-Saxon feature that makes the guy can pass as some Victorian era young nobility. His eyes should reflect the depth of his thought and looked like an English pond in the summer, calming and clear. Soft-spoken, matched with his grace and gentle movement that won't ever indicate any sort of danger or threat to anyone that come across him. Isaac wanted his ideal man to be lefty, just because it's unique, and at last, he wanted his man to be fully devoted to him and him only. Maya listened intently while Isaac revealed all that as he's busy typing his work, not even taking a glance to Maya. But once a sultry, manly voice coming out from the bed behind him where Maya supposedly lounged around, Isaac instantly turned around and found himself surprised
Tumblr media
"Maya???"
"Well....yes, but not really, as you can see,"
"H---how? W--why? What the fuck is happening here?"
"I enjoyed your company a bit too much. Like, I'm so tired dating these dudes trying to find my Mr. Right when I have an incredibly smart, kind and attentive best friend like you that beat most of those crusty men I dated. So I said, fuck it, I'll be your man,"
"Have you heard how insane that sounded like, and how is this situation totally not something you encountered everyday? Like.....for starter, how the fuck you--"
"It's actually simple. Turns out my family have this kind of power that skipped generations that reemerged with me right after that last eclipse. The said power bestowed us the capacity to change physical form of ourself and the people that we exchanged bodily fluids with. In other words, not only I can change myself, I can change you too since we fucked that one time when we were still sophomore,"
"That....is wild. And I don't want to be involved in any of this. Please just change back, okay?"
"Oh cmon, you literally are having a boner while talking to me now. You like this, you want me, and I definitely want you to be my man. I mean, just imagine how crazy the sex we can have now that I can mold you into any of your wildest dreams too,"
"Maya, no. You are not thinking clear. What the fuck is this desperation? I cannot be your man, and you cannot throw away your life just like that for me. I'll hate myself for that, it makes me feel selfish,"
"Desperation? This is me being kind to you. I cannot help but notice how you've been dating not a single person since we graduated uni. You are certainly lonely so this is me---"
"What is that insane gaslighting you are doing? Stop all of this madness and for fuck sake, change yourself back. It's so jarring looking at you like that. You will always be Maya for me, whatever form you take,"
"No,"
"Okay, whatever. If you want to continue being a nuisance, please sort yourself out. Just.....walk around the neighborhood and clear your mind or something,"
"No,"
"Maya--"
"No, don't call me that! I'm no Maya. Gosh, I hated to do this, but freeze,"
And just like that, Isaac froze in his place with no way of moving a single muscle whatsoever. Then, Maya grabbed Isaac's head and chanted some intelligible words before letting it go as Maya goes back to the bed while waiting for the spell to unleash its full work. Like a breaking ice, Isaac's frozen body started to be able to get back moving and pulsing. It started from the fingertips, that gets thicker and hairier as his finger and both of his hand turned calloused from heavy workout while his feet stretched his wool socks and enlarged to a decent size 13. As blood started flowing once more, the veins in his arm thickened while his legs bursted with muscle and blond hair in an otherwise lanky former runner legs. This built his physique is turning into clearly doesn't belong to a runner. As the pumped blood causing the arm to swole closer to 19 inches, it also affected the shoulder that becomes rounder and sturdier. The long sleeve he worn earlier of course already tattered to pieces while his pants already ripped due to his now incredibly muscular thighs. As the change spread across his neck and torso from the top, his lower body parts perfected itself into a sick v-taper that leads to a snaking 7 inches perfection stuffed into a tight white briefs that left nothing to the imagination. His tiny waist contrasted heavily with his massive back and shoulder, showcasing an insane dedication to his craft which is clearly bodybuilding. When the whole body parts below his neck completed its transformation, he's now a towering 6'6" muscle beast, clearly looking down on most people including the rendered-in-awe Maya. Is this Isaac's deepest desire? Turning into a massive bodybuilder? The power she used on him is to unearth his deepest desire, so having a boulder cannon for a shoulder is clearly part of his deepest desire then? How is his final look going to be? Babyfaced brutal beast? Matured daddy? All will be revealed in the next couple seconds as the transformation move upward
His jaw hardened but his face turned into more square-like, with dirty blonde facial hair framed the angular jawline. From the way his face remained clear and not much visible wrinkle formed, this is definitely a young guy, probably the same age like Isaac's current age, but he can be wrong though. As the lips turned into a smirk, Maya knows that the change is almost complete and that smirk indicated that he enjoys what he sees so far. As Isaac eventually able to move, he's practically no longer Isaac, but an entirely different person altogether. Maya ensured that this new version of Isaac, Maya named him Rod, would be falling head over heels for Maya's new look
"Theo," Rod said in his gruffy voice
Well, that's a good name....
"Why are you not spreading your ass in bed already? You know I have to get back to work later at 1, time is tight so I need to breed inside you ASAP before having my lunch and then get back to work,"
Maya is in shock......Isaac's deepest desire is to be an assertive alpha or something? And it dawned upon Maya, or Theo now, that he cannot acted like brats or said no to Theo's order. Is this part of his desire too????
Tumblr media
"You are always one hell of an obedient boy, that's why you're my favorite cum dump. Now say aaaaaa-----

The more I think about it, the more... not exactly sympathetic, but more understanding of the Narrator's frustrations because He is operating under an insane set of restrictions to convince us to slay the Princess without making her enough of a threat that she can fight back. He's not even trying to thread the incredibly tiny needle Himself, He has to guide you into doing it without you even realizing it.
Like, the core problem is that the Player Character's belief (and the Princess's) literally shape reality. To demonstrate how great a change even a small shift in perspective can cause by your own actions alone, taking the knife or not taking the knife results in the Princess having a different personality and skillset from the moment you enter the basement. Taking the knife implies she's a potential threat and even before she sees that you have the knife, she speaks far more threateningly. If you talk rather than killing her right away, which further reinforces all the ways she's a potential threat (she's aloof, somewhat cynical, intelligent, well-spoken, and outright threatens you at one point), there's no way to kill her and also survive. And if you let her kill you after freeing her and the Narrator hijacks your body, she shows herself to be skilled with the blade and unflinching in putting you down.
But if you go down without the knife (signalling you don't see her as a threat, not even a potential one) she's much sweeter when calling to you on the stairs. She sounds harmless, scared, but a little hopeful. And when she kills you after you free her, she doesn't know how to use the knife effectively at all. She kills you while crying and stabbing randomly. She both doesn't want to kill you and is incapable of being an actual threat. You have to hold still and let her kill you.
Unless, of course, you try to kill her anyway, which means she's now fully capable of beating you to death with her bare hands, likely because trying to kill her implies another shift in view (probably due to seeing her try to gnaw off her own arm). She is a potential threat now, and of course attacking someone comes with concerns about them trying to defend themselves--how capable are they of fighting back? And of course she'd fight back, who wouldn't? All the Princesses fight back when attacked except for the Damsel because by that Chapter the idea that she A. can't, and B. wouldn't, is locked in by her inability to put you down efficiently the last loop and the Smitten's unfailing faith in her.
So as early as Chapter 1, from the moment you enter the cabin and even during your interaction with her, your thoughts and beliefs are shaping reality and that ability is incredibly volatile.
And that's part of the Narrator's problem! The Princess needs to be helpless so she can't hurt you or defend herself but in that case, what justification do you have to kill her? So she has to be enough of a threat in the future to justify killing her, but not at the moment, and killing anyone comes with concerns about them fighting back. The Narrator has to walk a very fine line here because even thinking it's possible she might have the ability to fight back or kill you means she absolutely can, but you also have to believe that she could possibly be a big enough threat that you simply can't risk leaving her alive.
So the Narrator has to go "Okay. There is a Princess. She is harmless. She cannot hurt you or escape right now and you have to kill her. Why? Because she will be a great threat in the future. Not right now, she's perfectly harmless right now, but you have to kill her. No, no, you can't talk to her and ask questions because she'll trick you into not killing her. What kind of threat? The world-ending kind so even if you doubt me you can't risk it, there's too much on the line if there's even the smallest chance I'm correct and you must do it right now. How is she capable of ending the world? Don't think about it, please please don't think about it."
(I also think that's probably part of why the Narrator made her a princess of all things. The stereotype around a princess locked away is that they're fairly helpless in a fight, simply waiting for someone to come save them, but also you could justify killing her because she's an oppressive monarch, in title at least. And, indeed, that is a perspective the Narrator pushes and one you can agree with. Not to mention all the story tropes where royalty or a maiden of some kind is infused with a special connection to the world or god--a Princess who can end the world just by the nature of her being is not far removed from those tropes)
I mean, trying to get someone to kill another person without thinking them as an immediate threat or questioning anything too deeply is a monumental task. And everything from the ethical questions you might ask to risk assessment all have the potential to make the Princess quite a threat. No wonder it goes wrong so fast.

Please share all of your Sirius and Bellatrix thoughts ♥️
I have way too many, darling.
The TLDR is it is our choices that show us who we truly are, far more than our abilities. The long version is under the cut.
When reading about them I usually prefer stories where their original 8-9 year gap is preserved (it annoys me to no end when people write the Order and the Death Eaters as entirely made up of people in the same couple of years in Hogwarts —really? Was the conflict exclusively waged by child soldiers? Were Dumbledore and Voldemort just chilling before 1977, when they decided to start recruiting?). With that being said, I can also enjoy fics where - for shipping purposes - their ages are more compatible, to make them share time in Hogwarts or during the First Wizarding War.
I think they are very, very alike personality-wise. The narrative draws some delicious writing parallels between them, both physically and in their expressions, vices and virtues, and choices. Directly between them, might I add. The author underlines the difference between Bella and Narcissa more than once, we're meant to see it, and similarly we're meant to see the similarities between Bella & Sirius.
They are haughty, passionate, powerful, competent, arrogant, bright, much more intelligent than the fandom thinks they are. In general, they suffer from the stigmatization that many characters - but some people in real life do too - that someone who is intense and impulsive cannot possibly be as intelligent as people who are meek, soft-spoken, generally more controlled. Think what the fandom does to Sirius vs Remus and Bella vs her sisters, when every arrow points to the fact that they are actually the cleverest in these pairings.
They are both some shade of mentally ill, and not because of the curse of the Blacks - half the Blacks went mad didn't they? What's the saying? Every time a Black is born the gods flip a coin. god the Targaryen-Black parallels are gold - Sirius is very likely horribly depressed in OOTP, something no one around him seems to understand, infuriatingly. The only one that seems to get it is Harry, who has the literal Dark Lord living in his brain (= bigger problems to deal with). Bella is... I don't know what she is, ask me after my psychiatry module next year, but my money is on PTSD after Azkaban - after all, she didn't have the escape of an Animagus form behind bars. She would also very likely be victim-blamed for these different feelings, which would lend itself to a delicious nobody else in the world understands us but us type of post-Azkaban dark!fic which I would love to read.
They are both skilled at magic, and while they might despise each other for their respective political views, they respect each other because of this. Bella is probably above him in terms of magical power and skill, because she's 9 years older and because of Voldemort's training, but Sirius seemed to be keeping up quite well with her during their fight in the DoM.
Speaking of which, I am sure that Bellatrix's scream of triumph was due to her winning their duel, not because she thought she had killed him and that is probably the single thing I love the most about HBC's interpretation of her in the movies. That look. 10/10.
I am of the opinion that Bella is all bark and no bite when it comes to certain members of her family, especially her sisters. Sure, she might say that she wants to prune her family tree but 30 years later in the beginning of DH, she still calls Andromeda sister. I'm sure she would want nothing more than to put him under lock and key for the rest of his life and never let him escape, not kill him. And, to me, the way Sirius speaks of his family is very interesting. I'm sure he firmly believes that he hates them, but his actual feelings are more complex than that. You can hate someone and still desire their love, their respect. You can hate that they are the only people in the world who understand you - and hate yourself more in turn, for it.
Sirius seems to me like someone haunted by his own darkness. He, much like Harry, would be constantly worried that he's becoming like them. I'm sure it's a weak spot for him and I wish we had heard more bickering, or at least a full interaction between Bella and Sirius (I feel like she would claim him as hers, underline how much he cannot escape his own blood, even just to mock him/unsettle him in battle). But what Dumbledore says to Harry is true: it doesn't matter how alike they are, it's their choices that matter much more. And I feel like this is why the two of them would never reconcile in canon. They stand for different things.
I also think there might be some - and I know Freud is controversial nowadays, but bear with me - penis envy, on her part. Because Sirius was born the heir - something she would have given her left hand to be: to be born and die a Black instead of being expected to marry into another family - and he squandered it all away by consorting with werewolves and mudbloods. But no. He got everything and pissed on it, and it's just not fair. And by choosing not to come back, even in the two years after Regulus' death, he made sure that the Black Family name will die with him- and I think that is just something she can never ever forgive him.
Now. Everybody knows I don't like TCC and my preferred view of Bella is someone with fertility issues, even to the point of being sterile.
[I read an amazing fanfic once and a line from it stuck in my brain - "If I can't be life, then I'll be death"]
But. If we do see it as canon. This is also the reason why - despite being overjoyed at Delphi's birth - I am convinced that she wished for a boy when she was pregnant. If she had a boy with the Dark Lord, who couldn't possibly give them his name, the House of Black would have an heir. This is also the reason why I don't thing she was necessarily opposed to having children with Rodolphus - the "spare" would have been her heir.
Bellatrix would say that Regulus was her favourite cousin, but truth be told, it was really Sirius whom she respected more - at her core, in my opinion, Bellatrix is really only someone who respects power. Sirius is like her that way.
But Bellatrix is clearly a cruel person, which Sirius is not (or at least, he tries not to be: Kreacher and Snape are two very particular cases of people who are mean to him back). Also, Sirius' view of the world is much more egalitarian - If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. Bellatrix is clearly someone who sees the world in terms of hierarchies, and lives within them (see: how she acts around Voldemort and what is implied of her treatment of house-elves who obey their masters: there is a scale and some serve others, and as long as they do so well they have certain rights; disobey, you get punished).
(Bellatrix is somewhat a feminist character but let's be real- she's not a revolutionary. She went to the Dark Lord and showed him just how powerful she was - aka my wand is bigger than all these male DEs' - and he said "okay, fair, I'll give you the Mark", thereby freeing herself. She is not a "equal representation for women inside terrorist organizations!!" type of girlie)
I also love how her death parallels Sirius'. It's thematically beautiful and it excuses her death coming at the hands of one Molly Weasley (who could never ever in a million years have beaten her on skill alone). She dies because she is arrogant. It's one of her traits. Overconfidence. She was always meant to die like that.
[coincidentally one of the reasons why she would not be a hufflepuff like some suggest: this woman is not humble]
I could go on, but I think I've rambled enough.
P.S. Let's not sleep on the fact that the two of them together would be hot.

cod characters as detroit become human characters
soap as connor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- extremely skilled at what he does
- makes sarcastic/snarky comments towards people he doesn’t particularly like/trust, but can be very serious and sharp when doing a job/interrogation
- dedicated to his work, hence why he’s so good at it
- gets along with essentially everybody, but people end up letting him down/turning on him ): graves
- soap was the youngest to pass the sas selection, and connor was the first android to be created for police work :p
- very smart and knowledgeable, literally know SO much about everything, especially their jobs
- both rays of sunshines
ghost as luther
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- it was hard picking who ghost would be, and at first i said hank. they’re both lieutenants, have lots of trauma ): and liked working alone until their partners came along
- but i also think he’s a lot like luther
- first off, big boys
- reserved personalities that make them appear off putting and cold at first, but once you realize that’s not all they are, they’re very kind people who just happen to be intimidating
- luther is very protective of his ‘family’, ghost is protective of 141, he’d very much die for them and kill for them
- history of abuse and mistreatment, they come from bad backgrounds that created who they are today
- gentle giants. i don’t like the trope that ghost is scary and mean, because he’s not outside of missions. in dbh, luther was made out to be the same way when all he wanted to do was protect kara and do his duty of being a guardian, and i feel ghost is very similar
gaz as markus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- natural born leader
- gaz is very selfless and wants better for the world, the same as markus
- well spoken and executes their voices very well
- extremely strong willed while also knowing how to keep their temper in check, they know how to do their job and do it well
- does what they have to do in order to guarantee the best outcome, even if it’s not always what they want to do
- they’re also very pretty to look at lmao
price as hank
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- at first this didn’t really fit in my mind, but after some thinking, i think they’re pretty similar!
- both of ranking in their respective jobs
- experts at what they do, have been doing it for a long time and know how to lead their men in the ways they know best
- hank is a bit more of a grump than price is, but when they’re both angry (ex. price literally any time shepherd is around), they bring hell to whoever they’re angry at and don’t have the nicest things to say
- the world on their shoulders, they just need a nap man
- hank doesn’t show it as much, but they both have a lot of care in their hearts, especially for the people they work with and they’d do anything for them
- love their liquor after a job lmao
farah as kara
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- selfless women who have been through so much
- both deserve better
- but because they’ve been through a lot, they’ve become strong both physically and mentally and use that trauma to their advantage
- will do anything to protect the ones they love, even if it means hurting themselves in the process
- farah is such a soft spoken person with high maturity and intelligence in the way she conveys her words, just like kara
- i literally love them to death, best characters in their respective games ):
graves as elijah
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- can be manipulative as fuck lmao
- when they have an end goal for themselves, they do anything to achieve it, even if it means taking others down with them
- both can be perceived as complex characters that have good intentions and good moments, but also know that the reality is they’re rather selfish people who make decisions for themselves
- even the way they talk is similar at times !!
- many people who don’t truly know elijah trust him, just like graves, but only the people who they’ve hurt know the real side of them
- many people like them, while many people don’t, that’s how conflicting their characters are and its hard to pick a side
shepherd as amanda
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- literally hate them both
- but really, they’re great characters that bring so much to the story and the way it progresses
- has lots of impact on the way the characters navigate themselves. amanda controls connor, while shepherd controls graves. it’s a very similar concept imo
- lots of knowledge and wisdom but uses it to manipulate things the way they want
- betray the very people they’re working with and supposed to guide, for their own selfish reasons
- both dead, technically lmao
replaying dbh for the sixth time and i was like !!! this might be a fun concept. to some it may not be entirely accurate, but i thought it was fun to dissect all the characters and see who fits who the most, and this is the way i see everybody 🙏🏻

During early 3rd season, Smokescreen finally lets it slip what actually happend after the base got blown up and that he almost became a prime. Bonus points if he also offhandly mentions how young he actually is (I always headcannoned that he was just a sparkling at the beginning of the war, but had his frame ubgraded cause cybertron needed soldiers).
Cue most (if not all) of team prime being geniuenly horrified that one of their teammates was by all means, both human and cybertronian, a child all this time(and maybe the older bots blaming themselves for not realising just *how* young Smokey was).
Maybe some Dad!OP becoming protective of him? And Ratchet slowly developing a soft spot for the (literal) kid.
Sorry for any typos
What a lovely little request! I do love me some fluff with ever so slight angst involved! (No worries on the typos front, I have seen far worse in my requests)
Child Soldier
During the height of the war there were a great many things that slipped past Optimus's notice for one reason or another. There were also a solid handful of amendments and rules he was forced to make in order to preserve the lives of as many of his Autobots as possible. One such order he gave and forgot about due to its relative irrelevance in regards to the overall war effort was the treaty he made in regards to sparklings and younglings.
After the last wave of sparklings emerged and were nearly wiped out, Optimus took as many as he could and to save them from being damaged further, issued the order to have them trained and put into larger frames. It was not a decision he made lightly, but it would be best for the sparklings as it would help them blend in among the regular foot-soldiers and keep them safe from targeting. Not to mention he could safely put them in secure guard positions in strongholds to give off the appearance of strength while fully grown bots went off the war.
In the end Optimus and most of high command forgot about the issued order once the stress of the war took more of their attention. The order fell by the wayside and all Autobot high command remembered about it was that there were hundreds of young recruits unfit for battle stationed at secure locations for their own safety. And once Cybertron was abandoned, the order was forgotten altogether as every bot was required to be mature or die.
As such when Smokescreen turned up originally, Optimus and Ratchet were the only ones who became vaguely interested in his behavior. It was like searching through a fog in their memories, but somehow they had this never ending feeling that Smokescreen was... young, very young. His abilities in battle were not exemplary and spoke of excitableness and rashness reserved for the young, but his skills were sufficient enough for it to be overlooked. His personality also seemed to fluctuate slightly in the manner of sparklings, shifting between serious and childish depending on the overall mood in the room. He was intelligent and showed great potential to apply it, but his attention was diverted too easily and his focus quick to be shaken. It was... off-putting. But nevertheless, the elder members of the team shook it off and chalked Smokescreen's oddities up to their own paranoia and Smokescreen's inexperience.
Of course then there was the destruction of the base and the subsequent battle that followed once Optimus was repaired. What happened between Optimus and Smokescreen was never spoken of aloud after the matter. On Optimus's end it was because it no longer mattered, the issue was resolved and he was restored. And for Smokescreen he simply never mentioned it because there were other things to worry about at the time, including but not limited to getting used to the new base and adjusting to all that had changed. However after things had settled down and the team were well acquainted with their new accommodations, Smokescreen brought the event up rather casually, not realizing the implications of his words until it was too late.
Bulkhead: It sure must be nice to fly, right Prime?
Optimus: It is a new experience to say the least, one I would not have had without the forge of Solus Prime.
Smokescreen: And to think I could have gotten wings if I'd become Prime that day.
Ratchet: *choking on his drink* You could have been wHAT?!
The team collectively dropped what they were doing to stare at the Prime and Smokescreen as they both just shrugged like it was no big deal. The team had been aware of the fact that Optimus nearly died that day. Bumblebee very nearly losing control of himself in response to his rapidly weakening bond to Optimus confirmed that. But they had never considered the fact that Optimus would have had no one other than Smokescreen to be his successor. It was startling to imagine the rookie being named Prime in any circumstance.
Upon being questioned Optimus pointed out that it was simply logical. At the time he was dying and there was no one else to take on the mantle of Prime. It made perfect sense for Smokescreen to be offered the title since he was there, worthy, mostly willing, and old enough to reasonably handle the Matrix (to his knowledge anyway). Also it would have been foolish for Optimus's body and the Matrix to be abandoned for any extended period of time for a plethora of reasons. And with darkmount and Megatron looming at the time... there was not other viable option but to have Smokescreen take the Matrix.
Upon hearing the comment about how Optimus's saw him as being old enough to be Prime, Smokescreen chuckled nervously and quietly added that he was in fact, not even five hundred years of age. Cue the entire team, Optimus included, pausing to stare at him in mixed confusion, shock, and awe.
Bumblebee: How old are you?!
Smokescreen: Uh, I think around three hundred and eight?
Arcee: You don't know how old you are?!
Smokescreen: Well it didn't exactly matter back on Cybertron. We were all cadets and our age wasn't important since we all had grown frames.
Optimus & Ratchet internally: Frag, the sparkling protection order...
It all came rushing back to the two eldest members of the team with the force of meteor. Smokescreen was part of the sparkling protection order and they hadn't even realized it. Suddenly all his quirks and behaviors made perfect sense. He hadn't been given the chance to develop normally and therefore had matured in body and mind, but not in spark or code.
Guilt hit them both right after, both because they had forgotten about the order they helped issue, and had failed to notice that Smokescreen was a victim/recipient of said order. There was nothing to be done to change Smokescreen's frame or give him back his sparklinghood now, but they could explain and try to treat him better. And so that is exactly what they did.
Optimus: Smokescreen, do you know why you received a frame upgrade so young?
Smokescreen: Hm, no, not really? We all got our upgrades as soon as we reached half a vorn of age. It was normal proceedure.
Ratchet: We issued that order Smokescreen, me, Optimus, and Autobot high command.
Smokescreen: Really? But... why?
Optimus: You were of the last wave of sparklings. It wasn't safe for you or the others. You needed to be protected and blend in, so we did what we had to.
The team were shocked, that is save for Ultra Magnus who had not forgotten about the order and had assumed Optimus recalled as well. Smokescreen wasn't upset at the reveal and accepted the reasoning without any pushback. He understood the logic and was just happy to be alive and well, even if he hadn't had a sparklinghood. And so before the explanation was even finished, Smokescreen wandered off not at all bothered by it.
In the end, whether he liked it or not, the team's interactions with him shifted, especially with Ratchet and Optimus.
Bumblebee began talking on a more brotherly role for Smokescreen. It wasn't really intentional, he just felt the need to be more mature and take the time to get to know Smokescreen better in light of his age. In fact, Bumblebee began taking every opportunity available to him to drag Smokescreen into a game and teach him the things that he should have been able to learn if he had been allowed to grow normally. Before long Smokescreen found himself playing games every time he wasn't on duty for at least a half hour. Often times he didn't even realize he was playing as Bumblebee tended to disguise it under the ruse of work. The scout also began quietly teaching Smokescreen, generally by poking fun at him in the manner of all siblings and helping him to adjust whatever he was doing wrong.
The team found their interactions cute.
Arcee, Bulkhead, and Wheeljack took to giving Smokescreen more leeway in his work. Arcee stopped being so strict and quick to snap, Bulkhead ceased any and all hostility, and Wheeljack silently gave Smokescreen a Cybertronian puzzle cube as his way of being nice. Smokescreen was baffled by the sudden kindness and overall leisurely manner in which he was treated, but he did not object to the lack of yelling or the puzzle cube which he spent long hours messing around with.
Ultra Magnus for his part didn't treat Smokescreen any differently, at least not openly. But behind closed doors he and Optimus worked together to keep any possibly dangerous missions out of the rookie's servos. Not to mention more than once the commander quietly took an extra patrol or two when Smokescreen was obviously too exhausted to work any harder or going through a bad day. It wasn't much, but it did show that Ultra Magnus cared, if only out of sheer obligation and a desire to adhere to his moral code.
Ratchet didn't mean to, in fact he kept trying to tell himself that he shouldn't, but in the end he couldn't stop himself from fussing over Smokescreen the same way he did with Bumblebee. The first mecha he checked when they came back from patrol were the youngest members of the team. Whenever he noticed Smokescreen struggling he would slip the rookie some energon goodies that he kept in a stash for special occasions. If Smokescreen appeared exhausted or out of sorts, Ratchet would come by and do his best to help the sparkling-turned-soldier without trying to make a big deal out of it. Smokescreen for his part was confused as pit when Ratchet started giving him extra attention, even going to far as to patch him up first and give him little treats on bad days. He didn't understand at all, but still rapidly found himself going to the medic on instinct after a while.
And then there was Optimus who seemed to take it as a personal challenge when Smokescreen shrugged off his age like it was nothing. Before Smokescreen could even comprehend it, his idol and Prime swiftly began fussing over him as a Caretaker would. If he was injured Optimus wouldn't quit bothering him until he went to Ratchet. If he showed signs of distress, Optimus was one of the first to turn up and try to offer his services, be it a listening ear or whatever else Smokescreen might require. The Prime also took to scruffing him whenever he thought about doing something Optimus's considered dangerous. It was embarrassing, but Smokescreen always found himself going limp whenever the Prime grabbed him by the neck guard and pulled him back from whatever he was attempting to do.
It was all little things, a bit odd for Smokescreen but not strange enough to make him feel like a sparkling. At first he wasn't fond of the babying, but he found himself growing to enjoy the little touches the team gave him and the attention he found being given to him. It was nice... and something he didn't know he needed.

I REMEMBER SEEING ART WITH THIS A FEW MONTHS BACK BUT I WANT TO EXPLAIN (still crediting @wetcatschwartzy for the idea/inspiration though. also hi i'm aware we've never spoken sorry for tagging you in my unhinged fic idea post) BUT ANYWAY uhhhhhh. 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. But make it the main cast of NPMD. An au that appeals to ???? people ?? it definitely appeals to me
And now the cast I'd so and my justifications, idc
Steph Lauter as Olive Ostrovsky
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thought process: We know Olive's dad works a lot, is emotionally distant, and Olive implies that he can be downright cold or abusive during the I Love You song, which lines up pretty well with Steph and Solomon's relationship. Olive's mom ran off, and we never get any mention of Steph's (picture Steph being introduced by the hosts mentioning her mom won Honey Queen or something). Both know their strengths and weaknesses but have serious self-doubts about their own intelligence (Steph being convinced she's dumber than she realizes, Olive never answering until she whispers the word to herself). Also I thought about Mariah singing TILY Song and sobbed.
Pete Spankoffski as William Morris Barfée
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starting off strong, they both have very stupid names that they KNOW are stupid and try to defend the moment they can ("It's Polish" / "There's an accent aigu"). Both of them have grumpy/cold exteriors, but when you get down to it, they're both just socially awkward and autistic coded but very intelligent kids that are really just at the Bee to try to make something of themselves (Barfée dropping out because of an allergic reaction at the previous Bee could totally translate to Pete having a diabetic emergency). Both develop crushes on Steph/Olive by the end of act 1 of their respective shows too, so. There's that I guess.
Grace Chasity as Logainne Schartzandgrubinierre
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"But Ember, wouldn't she match better with the Catholic--" GRACE DOES NOT LIKE CATHOLICS. Also I have thought this through. Logainne is politically aware, cutthroat, and automatically assumes herself to be the most important person in the room. She takes up every project and social issue that she can to appease her dads, determined to be as perfect as they want her to be. She loses the Bee because she gets overconfident, taking a serious blow because of her pride. Grace takes up every project and social issue that she can (anti-hocoming posters and the prank on Max for example), can be cutthroat (canonically has murdered at least two men), and thanks to her holier-than-thou nature, assumes herself the most important person in the room. She takes up cancelling HOCO and is always early for school and is extremely devout because that's the perfect little girl her parents expect from her. And she'd probably get so into it she'd fall from pride, too.
Max Jagerman as Marcy Park
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HEAR ME OUT! Marcy has been the top of her class all her life, to the point she was moved one grade ahead. She's popular, she's intelligent, she's multitalented, and she's peaking at age 12 and aware of it. "I Speak Six Languages" is literally her having a breakdown realizing she's been the "best" for too long and it's stressing her out. Max, meanwhile, says he knows he's peaked in high school, and therefore is making the most out of his popularity and status while he can. Like, I can picture him mentioning he's done every sport available to him and being the best athlete is only going to do so much for him in his life in a "I'm so sick and tired / of always being the best and brightest" type monologue. So when he drops out on purpose, who would he daydream about instead of Jesus? Maybe some NFL star idk. Everything I know about football is about the Chiefs (Missouri represent) and also learned against my will.
Ruth Fleming as Chip Tolentino
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're both horny, both proud of their own nerdiness, and would both ABSOLUTELY catch feelings for a competitor's sibling and immediately forget what word they had to spell. And would both make jokes about the especially dirty sounding words (to be fair all his words are kinda funny. And I DID learn the word "tittup" from this show) (look it up I dare y'all). Ruth singing Chip's Lament? Funny to me.
Richie Lipschitz as Leaf Coneybear
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AuDHD coded, tendency to have the wrong takeaways, generally socially awkward even among the other nerds. Tbh that's all I got, they're matched up because they're the last ones. Still kinda fits though.
And I have less justification for the adults but here's my takes anyway
Miss Mulberry as Rona - sweet but stern ladies who've been taking care of after school functions for years
Tom Houston as Douglas Panch - he doesn't want to be there, he's as confused as everyone else (but without the hitting on Mulberry stuff he's never do Becky wrong like that <3)
Dan Reynolds as Mitch Mahoney - he's a volunteer counselor!

first time JO girlie here. how would you "tl;dr"/describe the guys' personalities and stuff and their dynamics? (also jance kinda 👀🌈❓
A LITTLE NECESSARY DISCLAIMER, THIS IS A PERSONAL OPINION, I DON'T KNOW THEM AND I AM NOT ASSUMING ANYTHING.
Joker Out as a band offers a lot interesting dynamics.
Singularly, Bojan is extrovert and easy going, Kris is very practical and well organised, Jan is clever and living in his own little world, Jure is a crazy Golden Retriever and practical as well (Kris abt organising, Jure abt doing working stuff I'd say) and Nace is calm and gentle.
The most interesting bonds for me are the ones Kris/Nace, Nace/Jan and Bojan/Kris.
- Kris and Nace reminds me the typical "older and younger brother" relationship. You can see how all of them count on Nace. He's the oldest, the calmest and despite Kris having proved many times he's extremely mature and better organised than the others, we all need someone to look up to and to lean on;
-Bojan and Kris, they are two faces of a medal. Completely opposite from each other and yet so complementary. Maybe Bojan sometimes can be so annoying Kris would kill him, but he also would definitely kill for him;
-Jan and Nace: well well well. That's complex. Jan is extremely clever and like many intelligent ppl he's also extremely shy and introvert. No wonder he was sus when Nace joined. So is mesmerising how Jan nowadays leans on him. We are so used to see them on stage but what do we really know about them behind the scenes? Very few info and this actually make a little mysterious. Also I know their astp performances are spoken in advance but if you think about it, it's mainly when Jan has his guitar with him he becomes more open, somehow braver;
-Jan and Jure; the craziest. Lock them in a room and you will hear an explosion. I love them so much, they are literally the opposite of Nace and Kris friendship.
Jance space: Well, I think the majority of us see Jan to be queer coded and I think he's sincerely fascinated by Nace (SAME BRO) and and and... Bojan surprised face in Tampere was genuine during whatever the fuck they were doing so let's say if something will ever happen... I won't be that surprised.

Hey, I get I've been raving about Astarion a lot but, like, are there ACTUALLY people out here who hate Gale and are calling him an incel? Is this a thing? Thank God I apparently curate well bc holy fucking shit I would be having heart palpitations DAILY out of SHEER ANGER.
So, like, we're always going to make fun of our faves and whatnot bc lbr "bro, you were banging Mystra and fucked up that bad?" THOUGH TO BE FAIR, if you're a wizard it isn't that hard to bang Mystra. It's kind of her thing. P sure her banging Elminster as many times as she has is the main reason he's still kicking and out being the Faerûnian Gandalf that he is in-game. Mystra's bodycount aside (especially since that has ZERO bearing on ANYTHING least of all her portfolio and purpose), like, Gale is a very intelligent man. He is also what we would consider as an objectively good person. Save the kids, help the tieflings, be kind and compassionate to those the average "good" aligned folks would consider "worthy" and yeah. He is literally the Alistair Theirin of BG3 if you Fusion Danced him together with Awakening Anders.
That being said, he is also very deeply flawed in that he KNOWS he is brilliant and in that brilliance, knowing his own talent, he thinks he knows better than even his own goddess BUT-! But, but, but, he is mortal, is young enough and in an age to not be able to wrack up the accomplishments of, say, Elminster whom he clearly knows on a fairly personal level so, like anyone who knows they are capable of doing great things, he feels INFERIOR bc he hasn't, in his mind, PROVEN that he is as great as he knows he is. And that's the hubris of mortality.
Objectively, LOGICALLY, he knows that he's more than proven himself capable. Mystra wouldn't have started a relationship with him otherwise, and she never asked him to prove himself. It was his own desperation to prove that he was worthy of her and thinking he knew EVERYTHING that lead to his terrible situation. Is he very clinical and logical about it? Yes. Is he squirrelly about it in the beginning? Very much, yes. Hell, I would be. No one wants to be friends with a literal ticking time bomb and the man is VERY lonely. Hell, that's the name of the game baybee! Baldur's Gate 3: These Bitches Need a Hug; YES EVEN LAE'ZEL, I WILL FIGHT Y'ALL!
Back to Gale, your friendship with him is something he very much treasures and when he starts all his finger wiggling and magic talk he's like any nerd sharing the thing he is most passionate about. He is also the first to admit he fucked up. HOWEVER, that does not (imo) warrant him needing to sacrifice himself all for Mystra's forgiveness, and even Elminster isn't on board with that. And, like, when he talks about Mystra it's never in an accusatory manner towards her. He clearly still loves her, likely always will, but that never negates his love for the PC who chooses to romance him. He is also very much prone to falling into the same pitfall of hubris that got him before and very clearly needs guidance that, yes, Mystra clearly did neglect in giving him. But he never outright blames her, at least he's not in my playthroughs thus far even after having spoken with her in the temple. He's just a sad, lonely nerd and that does not automatically make him an incel; y'all just don't know how to read, listen, or understand nuance. Apparently.
tl;dr
Gale deserves as much love as Astarion but bc he isn't evil "babygirl" material that's "fixable" he's just called an incel when he can be a very genuine friend, but what are those nowadays I guess?

Rant 01: Madara wasn't an evil soul as one would think.
Madara Uchiha.
A man who was misunderstood and viewed as a power-hungry villain over the decades. He was a truer man than most in the anime and spoke what he thought and felt on a profound level of intelligence. As a Capricorn, he doesn't sugar-coat. He is a leader, a bit rude but you can understand his perspective once u get to know his upbringing and background.
He wasn't an evil person.
Tumblr media
Yes, he was a gentle and kind-hearted man in the Warring Era in his younger years but the light of his heart was chipped away little by little the more he lost what he held dear. His brothers, his friends, children amongst his generation, his baby brother, the clan, and lastly his hope which was betrayed by the one he trusted most. Hashirama.
Can you imagine trying to stay positive after everything you give your slivers of chance to are snatched from your very eyes? How can he be viewed as evil? What, because of his idea of total control of the shinobi world? If it were you, could you still view the world as "peaceful, thriving, and harmonious"?
Just like any other human species, he experienced a number of emotions he masked very well for the sake of battle and his clan. As strong as he is and the image he was portrayed to be is the ego from these emotions: neglect, loss, depression, isolation, dissociation, paranoia, hatred, agony, and betrayal. Could you have gone through all those psychological shifts and remain sane?
Hm, definitely not. I think most of us would become mental after a couple of losses. He lost MANY things.
Tumblr media
Just like in the anime, he is viewed as someone for control, dominance, and power. (This behavior is rooted in parental alienation of childhood where his father found it mandatory for Madara to be a "weapon instead of a child at a young age which is what he was raised upon the teachings of his father). Those very goals are manifested from a life-changing loss and deep-seated hatred.
Remember when Hashirama was speaking to him in the Uchiha Shrine and he began to go into a spiral while articulating his "true dream"? Ideally, some would say he is crazy or not listening to reason.
Ask yourself this though: How can someone CHOOSE to lose their sanity after experiencing a MYRIAD of mental and physiological spikes and dives?
Then after his first "death" he was LITERALLY a wandering ghost. As the namesake, The Ghost of the Uchiha. Over the decades his name was spoken with an energy of power and intimation even in his death. A soul with malice and all negative forces and karma attached to its name.
So yeah... He did what he thought was right with good intentions but his wired mind from his era drove him into doing maddening things to achieve what he couldnt before. His worldview was distorted, guys...
His actual evolving death and conversation with Edo Hashirama at the end proves this.
And that's it for this rant.

Who do you think is more protective: Lotor or Kylo?
*rubs hands eagerly* At last, my time has come! Hehe.
As a hardcore lotura and reylo shipper, I want to add a disclaimer that I will be mentioning those relationships, so just a heads up!
Tumblr media
^^^^ also how GOOD do they look here??! I couldn't resist 😆
When you look at the two of them side by side, Lotor and Kylo Ren share a lot of similarities. Both experienced trauma and tragedy during their younger years that shaped them into who they are, both became ultimate powerful leaders of intergalactic empires, both can be snarky and sarcastic, both wear literal and metaphorical masks in order to hide their true selves, and both have complicated relationships with their fathers, etc.
But as much as Lotor and Kylo share in common, they also share their differences. A couple of those differences that I think are worth getting into in order to answer your question are: 1) their temperament, and 2) how they react to dangerous situations.
With Kylo, he is more physical, right? He doesn't talk much, and when he does he's usually snarky and callous. He is quick to anger, he destroys things when he gets upset, and he will react with violence towards those who get on his bad side. He uses his physicality and potential for harm in order to assert dominance. He intimidates others with his knowledge of the Dark Side of the Force, often using his power to threaten people's lives, like how he did with Poe and Hux. When he's calm he is remarkably soft spoken, but when he's angry he is big and loud and makes his presence known.
Tumblr media
With Lotor, the man is absolutely capable of violence and anger, but only when provoked. He uses his words first, and like Kylo can be sardonic and unfeeling at times. He will talk his way around things in order to get what he wants, and is very successful at it, too. It's why he was able to turn the Galra to his side after his duel with Throk, and it is why he was able to convince the paladins to trust him. That is not to say he doesn't prove himself through his actions, of course, nor does he shy away from inflicting harm upon those who cross him, such as when he sent Throk away to the Ulippa System, and later when he let Throk be tortured by Haggar, as well as when he killed General Raht when Haggar sent the man to spy on him.
Tumblr media
Needless to say, both Kylo and Lotor have their breaking points and triggers. So how do they act when they're being protective? Honestly, at first it might seem a little hard to imagine them being protective towards anyone, because everything they have worked so hard for, everything they have used their strength and intelligence for, was to their own advantage, as misguided and manipulated as they may have been. Neither of them had many chances to get close to other people and form positive relationships, so sadly there aren't a whole lot of examples to draw from when it comes to them being protective.
However that doesn't mean those examples don't exist! They may be few and far in between, but they are there. For Ben, we have at least two instances. The first time he feels protective of Rey is during the throne room scene, both when Snoke was torturing her and when they fought the Praetorian guards together. And then on the planet Exegol, Ben risked his life in order to get to Rey, and in the end he literally gave his life to bring her back, all for one person. True to his character, he never said a word, but showed his protectiveness through his actions.
Tumblr media
For Lotor, we also have at least two instances, but what we've seen from him is that he feels protective towards the people as a whole rather than the one. When Zarkon threatened to destroy the planet he put his son in charge of, and then much later when he was about to fire on the Lions, what did Lotor do? True to his character, he tried to talk down the situation, to have the blame or attention placed on him instead of letting others suffer because of his father's cruelty. Sadly, he was unable to do anything the first time, and having learned his lesson, ended up killing Zarkon the second time.
Tumblr media
Unlike Ben, Lotor is not put into any situations where a singular person he cares about is put into danger. There is no trial or test of love for the one person, not like there is for Ben. Rather, it is always a situation where the lives of many are at stake. That is one important thing to note about Voltron, is that the shows tends to focus more on plot and less on individual relationships -- with a few exceptions. So what would happen if Allura's life was in danger? Lotor admires Allura for her many strengths, not just her beauty, so I am certain he knows she's capable of handling herself. However, were she put into a life-threatening predicament like Rey, I can imagine Lotor would first try to talk down the situation like he always does. If that didn't work, then he would resort to violence, but only if absolutely necessary.
Lotor and Ben's protective mindset even carries over to when they are feeling the exact opposite towards the people they have intense hatred for. Ben wanted to destroy Luke and only Luke, and Lotor vowed to destroy everyone. It is yet another way the two differ from each other, though similarly, these scenes both happen during moments of weakness, and it's obvious that neither of them are thinking clearly.
Tumblr media
What they do share in common, however, is that they are both self-sacrificing. Ben, battered and beaten, crawled out of that hole to reach Rey. He was willing to die for her, and gave up his own life to bring her back. Lotor, also very close to death, did not seem to care at all that his father was about to kill him. He seemed rather resigned to it, in fact. Yet he was satisfied with the fact that Zarkon's fleets had been destroyed, and was willing to die for the paladins, taking on Zarkon and giving everyone else a chance to live.
And a little sidebar for Rey and Allura before we wrap things up: there is no doubt in my mind that both women, compared to the men, are far more vocal about their fierce protectiveness over the ones they care about. I mean, just look at these screenshots! I think they speak for themselves.
Tumblr media
So after all of that, would it be a wash to say that I think Lotor and Ben are both equally protective? Probably 😂 But I genuinely think so! I think Ben focuses more on the one, while Lotor focuses more on the many. I don't believe one way of thinking is better than the other, but it does go to show how deeply layered and complex these characters are and why I love them so much, even after all these years.
Thank you for the ask, Anon! I had a lot of fun thinking about your question and coming up with this essay, which is why it took me a while to answer, haha! If you have any counterpoints or insights you'd like to add, please do not hesitate to share! I would be delighted to hear your thoughts 😊
And one more screenshot of our boys looking at the ones they love :')

a little rant this is not targeted at any specific users, i quite literally cannot name users who have done this off the top of my head but, i see it happen a bit too often so here we are.
guys i beg of you… stop making our little demon brat “feral” it is weird he is a passive aggressive well spoken little guy who has murder tendencies when provoked or when he assumes he’s been wronged okay?
Damian’s not some animal they put on a leash and go “aw shucks no biting!!” —absolutely not, he is a sophisticated little brat who takes action when he feels he needs to and he must be respected! Like seriously the lowkey jokes at him bein feral make me wanna start swingin hands
This is not pointing at any specifc fics or posts btw its just… no. its jus disappointing his character has been boiled down to this sometimes hes not even amongst my top fav characters in dc but i still feel so wronged whenever i see him being reduced to that.
Theres a thing about growing up and learning to ignore things you dont like, but i just.. this is like. gross. I wish people viewed characters outside ‘haha mom friend’ ‘haha feral one’ ‘the sad one!!’ because most of the time they start putting characters in these boxes so often they end up entirely misinterpreting them and their whole character w/o even noticin.
Yes Damian tends to be the one shown as the first to throw hands but that doesnt mean he is the ‘feral one’—a brat and a menace sure but he doesnt act without reason, he has a very streamlined thought process and is an intelligent little dude whose figuring this new world out, albeit absolutely not in the best way but thats what makes characters interesting!!
Please dont take characters at their face value and make that their entire personality. Damian is arguably one of the most complex and well written characters in the batfamily—please dont water him down just to make him ‘feral’ for a half-baked joke

@riordanverse-dorphin, tumblr ate your ask. Luckily I get email notifs so did see it. For others, ask was suggesting if the Neptune kids have/are geared towards SzPD, perhaps Percy (and other Poseidon kids) have/are geared towards Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
I did actually consider it when I was like hmmm 🤔 what would Percy be more prone to, but, lol, set those thoughts aside because of brain fog ahaha. The "emotional rollercoaster" that often describes the disorder also fits the idea that Poseidon is the emotional moody ocean, while Neptune is the uncaring emotionless sea, which is one of the reasons I had been thinking abt it tbh.
Anyway, see my thoughts below!
The description and diagnostic criteria of BPD through the DSM-5:
Borderline personality disorder is described as a pervasive pattern of instability in interpersonal relationships self-image and emotion as well as marked impulsivity beginning by early adulthood.
It is indicated by the five or more of the following symptoms:
A pattern of unstable relationships
A fear of abandonment, whether real or imagined
Instability and insecurity in self-image
Impulsive high risk behavior such as excessive spending, promiscuity or substance abuse
Suicidal behavior or self-harm
Intense mood swings
Chronic feelings of emptiness or sadness
Anger management issues
Stress related paranoia or loss of contact with reality (aka general dissociation, depersonalization or derealization)
Additionally! Here is how ADHD and BPD overlap.
Tumblr media
So how would Percy fit? Further explanation(s) of how the symptoms may presentation in BPD.
Unstable, intense relationships: ❌
While I think we could consider Percy's relationship with Annabeth to be intense, I don't think he really has unstable relationships. His top three relationships - Grover, his mom, Annabeth - are all fairly stable, imo.
Fear of abandonment: ❓
I think this one is up for interpretation. I can't fully recall any specific scenes where he's terrified of being left by his loved ones. But I personally a) think Poseidon has a fear of abandonment, due to the clinginess of the ocean, and b) Percy so very much loves his inner circle - his mom, Grover, Annabeth - that he's terrified of them ever leaving him. This is kind of seen in TTC when he's worried that Annabeth will leave for the Hunters, as well as his refusal to let her go and choosing to fall into Tartarus with her. But one could think of that as being more romance-oriented so 🤷‍♂️ That being said, there's also his "no Grover, do not remove the empathy link" thing that you could side-eye as "I need to keep Grover in my life forever and an empathy link is perfect for that". So for me, it's a check. For others, it's up to interpretation.
Poor self-image: ✔
Percy does not think very highly of himself. The earliest obvious display of that I can think of was in TSoM where he was looking at his "perfect" reflection and thinking about how much better that guy looked. Otherwise he does think of himself as a burden to others, or a bad kid. He also thinks of himself as stupid, even when he's noted to be fairly intelligent when it comes to battle. He has a low self-esteem. While he's improved since the start of the series, much of these feelings are still present.
Rapid mood changes: ✔
Percy has been noted for being unpredictable and moody, like his father. Like I said, the intense mood swings symptom was actually the reason I was considering BPD before because where Neptune is the uncaring sea, Poseidon is the emotional one.
Impulsive and dangerous behaviour: ✔
Yes, it's a check, but it also overlaps with other things. The nature of being a demigod is inherently dangerous. ADHD also lends to impulsive behaviours.
Repeated self-harm or suicidal behaviour: ✔
BoO literally has him talking about being suicidal and wanting to die. He also expresses suicidal thoughts in various spots throughout the series. A lot of other people in the fandom have already spoken about this. Additionally, I headcanon him to self-harm frequently.
Persistent feelings of emptiness/sadness: ❓
Question mark because I'm not sure. I think his feelings of emptiness/sadness would more so related to his suicidal feelings or depression. Additionally, what I get from Percy is that his base emotion is anger. And that's something he does his best to repress. Hazel mentions in one of the books that there's a similar sadness between him and Jason though. So, I guess it's up to you. I personally headcanon Percy as struggling with alexithymia, so for me this would be a check. But for others it may be an X.
Anger issues: ✔
I mean do I even need to explain this one?
Temporary paranoid thoughts and/or dissociation: ❌
Doubtful with this one. I think any paranoid thoughts Percy displays in the series are valid within the context of the going-ons in his life. I mostly relate dissociative behaviours with Jason or Frank too. Dissociative behaviours, such as depersonalization or derealization, may occur when I write him but it's really in relation to him being depressed versus a general "out of body" sense as with the other two.
Also, in researching SzPD, quiet BPD came up a bit. Quiet BPD is not separate from classic BPD. The traits are just noted to be directed inwardly rather than outwardly. They will still experience the intense emotional rollercoaster that distinguishes BPD, but they tend to shut their emotions down or push them aside. More so, their sense of self is marked by shame and/or self-hatred.
So, I think where his outbursts of anger and impulsivity are expressed outwardly, the other traits are kept inwards. He doesn't talk much about his emotions to people. Even in BoO, talking to Jason about being suicidal can appear like an intentional choice, because Jason is not someone he is close with. Also they talk about it in the middle of a fucking battle. It might've been something he needed to verbalize without actually talking about.
Also "Favourite Person" is something that notably occurs in BPD, where a person with BPD becomes heavily reliant on a specific person for emotional support, attention, and validation from. They are often highly idealized and tend to be the center of a person with BPD's focus. Percy's clinginess with Annabeth can kind of come across as this.
Hope that helps! And fingers crossed Tumblr doesn't eat anymore of my asks :)

LOV's romantic type
obvious disclaimer: This is just my opinion and it's only based on assumptions!!!
Tomura Shigaraki: Okay, I don't think that Shigaraki physically has a type per se, but personality-wise, I think he really values independence in his partners. Loyalty is also an obvious dealbreaker. I don't think he would like a push-over or someone who lets people toss them around easily.
Dabi: Physically speaking, I think Dabi really likes girls with piercings/tattoos. I can imagine him being the type of guy to go for an e-girl or a punk girl. Personality-wise, I think he is looking for someone who's down-to-earth, likes to have fun and doesn't stress things much, preferably a fling. He isn't really attracted to strict or authoritative people who boss others around.
Toga: She's literally up to anything, however, I'd say she has a preference for girls. I can imagine her dating a shy, not very out-spoken person. I know a lot of people stereotype Toga as "freaky", but I think she's really more of experimental or active, so it depends on the other person.
Kurogiri: Well, I don't really see him having a physical preference. He is very thoughtful and he and lust are technically contradictory terms. But I think he heavily values intelligence in relationships. He wants someone who's mature, calm and witty. He's kind of retired when it comes to the wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am and even if he was younger, I still think he'd be looking for more stable connections.
Mr. Compress: While I think Mr. Compress had a type when he was younger, I think the way we know him, he doesn't have any physical type, just like Kurogiri. Unlike Kurogiri though, I do think that Mr. Compress is still open to the idea of having a one-night stand, even though he is also looking for meaningful relations. He probably really loves someone who is charming and elegant, matching his energy. He loves someone who enjoys his tricks.

[9:02] . . .
you were avoiding kuroo tetsurō.
and you were sure he'd noticed. he's not stupid, after all. he's the smartest person you know. maybe not the most intuitive—because that would be kenma—but he was the most intelligent. he's probably picked up on it already. whenever he tries to talk to you, you give him a nonchalant or an uninterested response. you avoid him in the hallways. and you don't wait for him after your club so you can walk home together. you've stopped interacting with him outside of school entirely.
oh yeah, he's definitely noticed. currently, you're sitting next to him in geography. the teacher's blabbering about some sort of religious impact on economy and agriculture. you couldn't care less. this was an elective, anyway. all you had to do was get more than seventy-percent in the final exam and your report card wouldn't even have a dent.
"oi, chibi," kuroo nudges you in the slightest way. you roll your eyes, pretending to read the textbook, "you know, you're five pages behind, right?"
your cheeks heat up almost instantaneously. you flip the pages, and scribble something on your notebook as you continue paying "attention". the volleyball captain only snickers next to you, "who are you fooling, chibi? you're not listening to the class at all."
"maybe if you'd shut your trap, i could focus better," you grit your teeth. he laughs breathily, hiding it with his palm so the teacher doesn't see, "tell me, chibi-"
"that is not my name. and stop talking, please. this is important for the exam."
he shuts up after that. you feel bad, but you only tell yourself it's better for the long run. if you were being truthful to yourself, it was hurting you just as much as it hurt him. you were kind of, sort of in love with him, after all. avoiding him was your first thought when you came to the conclusion. you've been doing so for weeks.
the day passes smoothly. and you being you, leave the school grounds as soon as your club finished its course for today. you check your wristwatch as you're leaving the library—the volleyball team doesn't dismiss for another half hour. you still have time.
"hello there, chibi."
well, shit.
you stop in your tracks, turning to see kuroo tetsurō standing there by the gate of the school. you're definitely taken aback. why is he not in the gymnasium? what about practice?
"i think you forgot that i'm the captain of the team," he smugly says, walking towards you, "i can cancel practice whenever i want if i have a reasonable excuse."
"you're a shit captain, then," you scoff, beginning to walk away. he follows you though, catching up to you as he exclaims, "oh come on, what did i do wrong?"
"what?" you ask, "you didn't do anything."
"then why are you ignoring me?" he questions, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. you halt too, looking up at him as you wrack your brain for some sort of excuse, "for the past month, you haven't even spoken to me properly. we stopped hanging out after school entirely because one day, you decided to up and leave my life."
"i was busy," you meekly mumble, "sorry."
"bullshit," he laughs dryly, "do you really think i can't tell when people are mad at me?"
you sigh in a defeated tone, "i'm not... mad at you."
"of course you deny it," he rolls his eyes, "you know what, screw it. be that way. i'm sorry i bothered you."
he turns to walk away. you can't really blame him. he's been there whenever you needed him since middle school, and you quite literally just dropped him when you realized you were in love with him. it wasn't his fault—he always overreacted like this or blamed himself for things that weren't even his fault. you'd seen it happen firsthand. whenever kenma got sick, kuroo would end up blaming himself. he would say he isn't a good friend, and would go over to kenma's place to take care of him. it was sort of adorable to you, but also bittersweet. you bite your lip as you see his retreating figure. he's getting farther and farther away, and you can only imagine what must be going through his head.
you let out a deep breath before running after him.
"tetsurō!" you yell. he stops walking immediately, slightly turning his head. his eyes widen when he sees you running at him in full speed, and you stop when you're inches away from him. you pant, hands on your thighs as you try to regain your normal breath.
"i'm sorry," you let out an exasperated sigh, "i'm sorry, okay? something happened and i got a little insecure and i avoided you because i didn't want to share it with you. you would've found out eventually because you can read me like a book, and i didn't want that to happen."
"you avoided me because you didn't want me to find out what's going on in your life?" he mumbles, trying to make sense of what you said, "do you realize how dumb that sounds?"
you blush, "yes, i know how dumb that sounds."
"are you sure you're not mad at me? did i do something stupid or say something hurtful?" he asks. you shake your head.
he nods. an awkward sort of tension fills up the area surrounding the two of you, and he asks, "can you tell me why you were avoiding me now? i-is that why you're talking to me again?"
"uh," you pause, "i-i don't think that's a good idea."
"i won't push it, don't worry," he says, ruffling your hair. you groan, pushing his hand off as he laughs. there’s a sort of bitter feeling snipping away at your chest when you look at his face. he hides himself, though, turning away as he begins to walk again. your voice gets stuck in your throat, but you start walking too.
you'd tell him one day. you just weren't ready yet.
