Dc x Dp Prompt #4: Ghost Selkie
Disclaimer: references and facts about Selkies are based on Selkie folklore, true facts about seals, and stuff I just made up because it works well with the story
~~~~
Okay so Urban Fantasy inspired au where turns out there is some Selkie blood mixed up somewhere in the Fenton bloodline. As such Jazz and Danny exhibit a few Selkie-like traits but nothing too serious: a playful nature, a certain grace and agility, attraction to shiny things (stars and microscopes), a decent singing voice, being strong swimmers, and seeing in the dark better than the average person. After The Accident™️ and being more involved with the super natural world some of those aspects get a bit stronger for Danny but he just chalks it up to being a Halfa. That is until Skulker catches him on an off-day and manages to capture him by snagging the back of his jumpsuit. Phantom, in a moment of panic and desperation, decides to try and rip off his bodysuit to escape. The suit comes of alright but out tumbles Danny Fenton rather than a de-clothed Phantom. Skulker, in a moment of shock, drops the suit and Danny catches cradling it to his chest while every fiber of his being screams “MY COAT. MY PELT. MINE, DONT STEAL IT.” Skulked realizes what’s happened before Danny does and nopes out of there bc “ This is not what I meant when a said I would have your pelt whelp!” Danny is left sitting there feeling stunned. A quick round of experimentation leads him to figure out that he is now able to take off the suit in Phantom form, but it will de-transform him into Danny. Furthermore, the regular "going ghost" transition still works both with and without him physically holding the suit.
A quick consultation with Clockwork and Frostbite reveals the Fenton Selkie heritage and he goes back to report to Jazz and his friends. Due to Jazz’s instance the siblings get a crash course in Selkies through a community of Selkies and Part-Selkies in the Infinite Realms as well as having a younger ghost show them where to find the modern underground Selkie-Community. Which leads to them getting emotionally adopted by their (dead and alive) Selkie mentors. They learn about eating habits, behavior, culture and customs (including the in and outs of courtship and mating), and camflouge/blending into society.
Jazz learns to tap into her vocal magic/manipulation. Her voice has a deeply calming effect on others and they feel more compelled to listen to her. This comes in handy with some of her more rowdy patients at her internships and stuff. She’s also to taps into the physical aspects of her Selkie blood and gains enhanced dexterity, agility, balance and reflexes. She’s also working towards improving her strength and stamina. Needless to say her aim has definitely improved. Nothing too wild but as she gains more liminality, those aspects become stronger so she’s definitely a cut above the average human though not as crazy as Danny.
Danny on the other hand gets the ability to “shed his pelt” by being able to physically take of his suit and de-transform as well as how to disguise the suit as a jacket or something (maybe a romper or a cardigan?) so that he he can keep it on him for quick, more discreet transformations if he wants to. His ghostly form takes on more Selkie traits like fangs for a powerful bite and more muscle mass and fat in certain areas to improve his endurance and cold resistance. He also learns to manipulate his ectoplasm to be able to shapeshift into the seal version of a Selkie. He is able to practice and manipulate his Ghostly Wail and hone it into a Siren Song and Sonic Singing too.
So basically both the Fenton siblings get cool Selkie power-ups (and unbeknownst to the two, admittedly already quite attractive siblings, their looks take on an otherworldly allure too). As well as a new community eager to take them in and provide them with support. That's why when Danny decides he wants to get away from Amity for college (the ghosts have agreed to a truce as long as Danny pops in for a spar and some shenanigans every now and then. He acquiesces because playing and roughhousing is a part of building social relations for both ghosts and selkies) some of their Selkie contacts help him apply for the Wayne Scholarship at Gotham University and get him set up in Gotham.
Let’s switch gears for a moment here. Gotham has always been a weird place full of weirdos, magic, and cursed energy. Basically, overall chaotic, edgy, and somewhat rancid vibes. It also is entwined with the supernatural. Lady Gotham, the spirit of the city, has allowed many a supernatural community to remain well hidden in her realm including but not limited to fae, witches, gargoyles, vampires, and of course, selkies. There is a huge underground supernatural community in Gotham, part of which is the Selkie community. Most of the Selkies moved out of the harbor and onto land due to pollution. The luckier ones who managed to gain some quick wealth settled in the Upper East Side or Coventry while others ended up in Burnley, the Bowery, and Crime Alley. However, family is very important to Selkies, so there is little resentment between the areas. They try to help out each other and the other members of the supernatural community in Gotham whenever possible. The overall magical community is spread out over Gotham with a few hot spots like Old Gotham, Robinson Park, Crime Alley and the Bowery, and Chinatown.
Now enter: Jason Todd (or a different member of the batfam of your choosing but you’re on your own to figure out how that’ll change the story). Jason grew up around a large portion of Gotham’s supernatural community. There were plenty of fae, selkies, sirens, vamps, and various other magical beings within Crime Alley. He discovered the community early on when he found out that the abuela who used to feed him tamales was in fact a Bruja (witch). Her name was Señora Mariana Soliña and she swore him to secrecy and taught him some basic knowledge on how to recognize and avoid being screwed over by the supernatural.
When his mother died Señora Soliña revealed her surprisingly large amount of wealth to him. She chose to live in Crime Alley to be closer to magical friends and people who would seek out her services as a witch doctor (her cover bc the best lies have a hint of truth). She offered him a hot meal and some spare cash when she could but they weren’t able to run into each other as often as they liked. After getting adopted and becoming Robin Jason made periodic visits to her before his death.
Jason’s resurrection didn’t happen in a Lazarus pit but when he crawled out of his grave. It was due to the magical energy(read also high ecto-concentration) in Gotham he had been exposed to that he became a Revenant. He was able to develop a core through the latent energy and become a spirit/reanimated corpse that sought to avenge both his death and countless others at the hands of The Joker. His dip in the Pits (polluted ectoplasm) brought him out of his catatonic state but triggered his obsession and left him with Pit Rage. Yada yada yada, trains with the League of Assassins, yada yada yada, trains with All-Caste and gets the ability to wield the magical All-Blades, yada yada yada, returns to Gotham for revenge becomes a crime lord, etc., etc., you know the drill.
Fast forward to when he’s made up with the BatFam and is now an antihero. His pit rage has gotten more controllable as the natural ectoplasm and magic in Gotham is slowly filtering out the polluted ectoplasm in his system but it’s still a long process. The supernatural community, however, is happy to have him there. You see Red Hood is actually quite a popular vigilante within the supernatural community. Among his many monikers, they were the ones who gave him the nickname “Avenger of the Unavenged”, and nod to his nature as a Revenant, as well as the aura of the All-Blades (which are meant to defeat absolute evil) that most magical beings recognize.
Jason is fully aware of the presence of the supernatural community in Gotham, as well as members of it who live within his haunt. Once things reach a new “normal” for him he tracks down Señora Soliña only somewhat surprised to see her alive and kicking. He asks for her guidance in the supernatural past the basic knowledge she gave him as a kid. Señora Soliña recognizes his magical aura and status as a Revenant and agrees. (Note: Jason is aware that he has some magic in him, but he attributes it to the All-Blades. He is not fully aware of his status as a Revenant. Señora Soliña assumes he knows and thus does not inform him.) She teaches him and helps him start getting integrated into Gotham’s supernatural community. She offers to “adopt” him as her grandson "Jason “Pedro” Todd Soliña" so that he can take on a civilian identity and attend college. He agrees, eager to resume his education and take on a semi-"normal" life.
And thus we've reached the part of our story where two worlds collide. Jason and Danny first meet peripherally during orientation at Gotham U. They don't really have a direct interaction, just learning each other's names during the icebreakers and some eye contact during the tour. Danny is dorming and Jason commutes so the don't see each other much past running into each other on campus or in the dining hall. That is until they spot each other at an underground, supernatural beings-only, cafe called Xenia a few blocks away Robinson Park.
The two realize the other must have a supernatural connection and start up a conversation. The conversation is illuminating as they learn they're both fairly new to the supernatural community and mostly ghostly. Danny reveals himself as a halfa and of selkie descent and Jason uses his cover to introduce himself as the grandson of a bruja with magic, a brujo-in-training if you will. Upon being asked what a halfa is Danny realizes Jason doesn't know a ton about ghost culture and gives him a quick crash course leading them both to figure out that a) Jason is a Revenant and b) Danny could probably help the Pit Rage by giving him some ecto-supplements. Due to this newfound information Jason conveniently forgets that his new friend mentioned having Selkie blood.
The two meet up more after that, intentionally this time so that Danny can continue teaching Jason about ghost culture and just to hang out. (Note: Danny isn't teaching Jason about selkie culture as he assumes the grandson of a bruja would know that stuff already. Jason has been taught a bit about selkies but they haven't thoroughly covered the topic of courtship yet). As they hang out and develop a friendship with each other the seeds of romance are planted.
One day after they wrapped up lunch at Xenia, Danny left the cafe, accidentally leaving his pelt/jacket on his chair as he's still getting used to having to keep track of it. Jason not realizing the significance of his actions picks it up and takes it with him. Later that day Danny freaks out realizing he left it behind when he runs into Jason. Jason was actually looking for him to return the jacket. So he's like "Hey man you left this at the cafe so I took it and now you can have it back" assuming the redness on Danny's face is just embarrassment. Danny, while mortified, is also extremely flustered. Selkies typically only let close family and lovers have access to their pelts because it implies a deep and intimate bond built on trust that they'll give it back. For Jason, who should know about such Selkie customs, to not only take his pelt but then also return it so easily is some very straightforward flirting. But hey, Jason is good friend... and easy on the eyes too. He wouldn't mind if there was something more there. So Danny decides that he wouldn't mind courting/being courted by Jason.
Jason on the other hand has in fact caught feelings for his friend but hasn't realized he already initiated courting by doing this. He plans to do it the ghostly way engaging in some bonding through sparing and roughhousing and building up their feelings before asking him out. Unfortunately for him, there is a lot of overlap between Selkie courting and ghostly courting so Danny believes that Jason has been courting him for some time now. There are also some things that are specific to Selkie courting Jason unknowingly does, such as buying Danny a bracelet (shiny rocks as a courting gift), beating up a couple of guys trying to mug Danny (defending/showing off for your mate), and introducing Danny to his family/agreeing to meet Jazz (family is very important to Selkies).
That's why when they go out to dinner, and Jason embarrassedly corrects a waitress who thought they were on a date by saying "Oh we're just friends", Danny is understandably upset. He was under the impression that their courtship was getting rather serious since Jason had met Jazz and Danny had met Jason's family. When he asks Jason why he told the waitress they weren't dating he replies "Umm because we're not?" in an uncertain tone. Danny feeling hurt and upset takes his glass of water splashes it onto Jason's face and storms out of the restaurant. Jason is left there soaking, confused, and wondering what he did wrong.
That night Jason goes to visit Señora Soliña to see if he messed up some ghostly custom for Danny to get so upset. When he arrives one of the first things she asks him is how it's going with Danny. When he recounts what happened at dinner and explains his confusion, the bruja takes a deep sigh before smacking him upside the head. Jason is like “wtf abuela?!” And she just shakes her head at him and calls him an idiot. She then reminds him that Danny is part Selkie and explains all the ways Jason has been courting him during the past few months. Jason, realizing he screwed up grabs one of his leather jackets and goes off to track down Danny.
Danny has returned to his dorm to cry and eat ice cream in his pjs from the comfort of his own room. He’s about to watch some comfort tv when there is a pounding at his door. He gets to find a disheveled looking Jason standing at his door. Danny frowns and questions what he’s doing here. Jason’s like “Look I know you’re upset and understandably so but please let me in and I can explain”. Danny’s care for Jason wins out over his anger as he resigns himself to letting the other in. The first thing Jason does is apologize for hurting Danny, saying it was never his intention to do so. He then goes on to explain how he hadn't realized that he had been courting Danny in Selkie customs. Danny is understanding but still upset and voices his feelings to Jason. Jason allows the other to get his anger out and then continues to say that he was actually trying to court Danny through ghostly bonding, and he would still like to date him if he’s open to it. Jason then takes off the leather jacket that he brought with him and offers it to Danny, saying that he doesn’t have his own pelt to offer, but this is the next best thing. This gesture nearly brings Danny to tears and he throws himself to hug Jason, accepting the jacket. The pull back and look into each other's eyes before sharing a kiss and spending the rest of the night cuddling before Jason has to leave.
From then on Jason ramps up the courting to 12, determined not to mess it up again. He reasearches selkie and ghost courting customs in depth to properly woo Danny and personalizes dates to their personalities. Danny is happy to be lavished with the attention and returns the favor. The two of them also make an effort to make sure the have clear communication to avoid having misunderstandings again. A few months later Jason decides to re-introduce Danny to the batfam as his partner and brings Danny along to Wayne Family Dinner with a ring around his finger. It’s a promise ring not engagement ring, but what Bruce doesn’t know will surely give him a heart attack and Danny is happy to go along with it. Danny and Jason become the longest and most stable relationship in the batfam. Tim and Damian even come to them for advice when they try to romance their own partners.
The story kind of just finishes off with the two of them being happy with each other and leaves an open ending to add in small scenes that happened during a time skip or after the story (e.g gushing to siblings, an actual proposal, identity reaveals, batboys seeking advice, them engaging in pda, interaction with other supernatural beings, gossip surrounding their relationship, ect.)
BSD: An Absurdist Analysis - Ch. 114
My thoughts on "Crime and Punishment"
[BSD Absurdism Masterpost]
Tumblr media
Okay, so! Fyodor probably isn't dead.
And my theory for what his ability is would tie into Asagiri's absurdist storytelling thus far.
In Sigma's flashback, we see Fyodor get impaled in a manner that is eerily similar to how he dies in the helicopter, a way that pratically guarantees his death. Yet, as Sigma observes, he must have escaped the execution in order for him to still be alive.
Tumblr media
My theory, put simply, is that when someone successfully kills Fyodor, he takes their place.
His ability is called Crime and Punishment, right? And if the ultimate crime (sin) is murder, then the punishment would be death. So, then, perhaps when someone is able to kill Fyodor, it causes their death, and somehow Fyodor takes on their lifeforce (for lack of a better term) and is able to keep living.
This would also explain why he has been able to live for such a long time. If he keeps getting killed by people whose lifeforce he assumes, then he can theoretically live forever as long as people keep attempting to murder him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This would explain the end of the chapter where the body is shown to clearly not be Fyodor's. The helicopter pilot would have paid the consequence for Fyodor's murder, and thus been the one to die. For whatever reason, I suppose this means he and Fyodor switched likenesses? This is further supported by the panel in the flashback/memory where something seems to be happening to the man who impaled Fyodor after he does so. This part I cannot explain as well, but I think y'all can understand what I'm getting at with this.
Additionally, this theory of Crime and Punishment explains the purpose of the prison-break game, he's been trying to goad Dazai into killing him all along so he can die in turn, and finally be rid of his rival.
(Edit: the above point is likely rendered invalid because No Longer Human would very likely protect Dazai from death by Fyodor’s ability. That being said, it further explains why Fyodor is so determined to kill Dazai — not only is he his match in wits, but he might be the only one capable of killing him for good.)
Further, it could possibly explain Nikolai's desire to kill Fyodor. Perhaps Nikolai knows the nature of Fyodor's ability, and is the only one who does, which is why he considers them to be so close. He idolizes Fyodor, and so he desires to one day kill him, because he knows it will kill him in turn and Fyodor will get to continue living on. This one's a bit of a reach, but I do think it's a potential explanation if my theory about Crime and Punishment is correct.
And now for how this all fits into absurdism!
Fyodor has been the main antagonist for a really long time, basically for half of the manga's run. Up until this point we've had little to no clues about the nature of his ability and if my theory turns out to be correct, wouldn't that just be the greatest absurdity of all time? A villain that literally cannot die because when someone kills him, they actually die instead of him? How do you even defeat such a person?
I'm fairly confident about this theory, my only question would be why he would reveal this now? Surely, he knows that Dazai would figure it out, both from Sigma and from the corpse clearly not being him, so what benefit does Fyodor gain from revealing not only that he's survived, but what his ability is?
Dream Eaters Part 2
Obey Me! x MC!
Featuring Satan, Asmo, Beel, and Belphie.
~ How they react to a lower-level Demon giving Mc nightmares intentionally.
Warnings: Mentions of blood, torture, and nightmares. Nothing too visually graphic.
Satan~
Satan is very observant when it comes to how you are feeling. He sees the way your eyes fight the urge to sleep at the breakfast table. He also can see the way your knuckles are clenched in a death grip as they dig your nails into your palms so the pain will prevent you from resting. Staying up late is one thing but this is new even for you. There is a look of panic that flashes across your face when you feel that the part of you that wants nothing more than to rest is gaining the upper hand.
But as you get up and try to stumble your way to class he knows that he can't just observe what is going on with you. Rushing forward he sweeps you up into his arms and to the library before you are even aware of where you are.
“Tell me what’s wrong,” he says gently as you sit rigidly on the edge of the plush library chairs that you love to doze off in when he reads aloud to you. With teary eyes, you tell him of how you haven't slept at all the past few days because of these terrible nightmares the play behind your closed eyes.
It doesn't take long for his look of care and concern for you to turn into one of pure unadulterated wrath as he understands what has been happening to you.
There are only a few known Demons in this level of the Devildom that have the ability to feed on the nightmares of Humans and even lesser demons than themselves.
Satan, while prepared to do some angry sleuthing down in Majolish. doesn't have to go far to hear the power drunk boasting of the demon in question from an alley way.
"And the best part about feeding from the human is that they have no idea what's going on." They laugh as the temperature surrounding him drops. Satan's horned shadow approaches ominously behind him as he continues to belittle you and those in charge of protecting you until it is too late.
The last thing the pitiful Demon sees are the blazing green eyes of the Avatar of Wrath before he is thrown against the pavement and dragged back to Satan's personal Torture chamber to spend the rest of his days in agony.
Asmodeus~
He thinks its so cute when you come and visit him in his room, the shy shuffles you make towards his vanity when you want to borrow one of his thousands of products. You know you never have to ask but he appreciates the gesture. He knows that no one really needs make up, but feeling beautiful is a big part of looking beautiful.
What strikes him as odd however is that you ask if you could borrow some undereye from him to cover your circles but your eye makeup is already so thick on your skin.
"MC Darling, you know you're supposed to get your beauty sleep." he teases as your eyes fight the tiredness that makes your brain feel fuzzy, you make the excuse that you haven't been sleeping well the last couple of nights he of course offers a night in his bed. You give a half hearted laugh as you turn to leave the Avatar of Lust alone in his bedroom only to have him affectionately wrap his arms from you as he peppers your face with kisses.
What also catches him off guard is the absolutely pungent odor that clings to you as he wraps his arms around you. It's definitely not your scent, there is no sweetness to it that you normally have wafting around you. It almost smells like…
Asmo has gotten with enough lesser demons to recognize the reek of one of his scorned lovers. It all clicks at once. The dark circles under your eyes, the smell, and your sluggish movements. You are being fed on by a Dream Eater. His beautiful face is marred with concern as he tries to figure out what he can do to help you.
It's almost pathetic how quickly the Demon picked up their DDD when Asmo called. His power reaching through the line and entrancing the demon into meeting him in some kind of secluded area. He doubts he even need to use his charm, but when it comes to you, he wont take any chances.
Beezelbub-
Food coma’s with Beel are almost unavoidable during your late night hangout sessions. As a human, your appetite Pales in comparison to be avatar of gluttony.
He thinks it’s so cute how your eyelids droop and you curl up into his larger frame.
But just as he is about to carefully brush a few stray hairs out of your face you begin to thrash violently and scream in your sleep.
Panic grips in his chest as he shakes you awake. But nothing makes him feel worse than the look of sadness in your eyes when you realize that it’s happened again.
Beel truly has no leads with what is going on with you until he hears some idiot posting in the locker room at RAD about how he is the only demon in the entire Devildom who has been able to feed on the human exchange student.
Seeing red, Beezelbub rushes towards the demon grabbing him by the throat and lifting him up against the locker.
“ are you the one hurting MC?“ he growls as the demon trembles in his hold.
“Y-yes, but it’s not what you think.” they plead “ they taste so delicious, you would like it too.”
“ I would never ever think of eating MY human.” He says dropping the demon to the cold ground so Diavolo can fully question it.
Belphegor~
Being the Avatar of Sloth, Belphie pulls you into his naps often. He is just so comfortable it’s easy to drift off.
He amusedly watches your eyes get heavier and heavier with drowsiness as he decides to watch you just a bit before he drifts off himself. Your peaceful face twists into one of discomfort as your brow furrows and you begin to whimper.
He’s never seen you this way before. Carefully he runs the pads of his fingers down the side of your face to catch a glimpse of the nightmare you are having. Only to see nothing but dark wisps of smoke in your psyche meaning the nightmares are purposely being given to you from somewhere else.
His eyes go wide in alarm as he realizes that someone is purposely hurting you to feed themselves. He is able to pick up the scent of the demon responsible and carefully swaddles you in his fluffy blankets as he leaves you with a soft kiss in the forehead and his pillow for comfort.
He wanders the streets following the scent of the demon who is lounging on a bench enjoying the taste of your nightmares unaware of the monster behind him.
With a cruel laugh Belphegor sends a wave of sleep toward the demon who falls limp against the stone. He picks up the Lesser Demon by the scruff of it’s neck and drags it into the shadows and back to the dungeons of the house of Lamination to spend the rest of it’s days trapped inside or own head while nightmares play on loop.
Despite knowing next to nothing about Persona I am super interested in your Persona AU, is there any more information on it or is it just those two posts?
so far those two posts only! but because i sort of wandered into fic-writing territory, the basic premise, for those unfamiliar with persona:
this is an original plot, not the plot of any of the existing persona games, but it is meant to mimic what persona plots are like. as mentioned at the start, people are mysteriously vanishing in incidents that are making the national news (including in ways that affect our lead characters' lives). like any of the mysterious bad things that drive persona plots, these are being caused in some way by the existence of otherworldly creatures called Shadows, which are monsters made from humanity's collective unconsciousness.
joel, our protagonist, has recently moved to a new town, new hermiton, and is starting at a new school. (this is also Persona Protagonist Standard; hilarious side effect of it being a persona au is that it's technically kind of a high school au). in this storyline, it's because the people in charge of the dam protecting his town Vanished, and as a result, the dam's flood gates weren't opened when they needed to be, the dam collapsed, and joel's hometown was destroyed. yikes, i'm sure that backstory isn't affecting him at all. he was invited to new hermiton academy to finish his schooling.
however, on arriving, he quickly stumbles into the world of Shadows. for my story, it involves following a butterfly to an unpredictable location, where the border between the real and unreal is thin, and then using that to go into the world of Shadows. (i think i might call it the unreal world? i don't know, workshopping that.) there, he discovers he's a persona-user; that is to say, he's one of the lucky few capable of summoning a persona and fighting shadows. a persona is a representation of a person's soul (i am thou, thou art i), as well as a representation of a mythological or legendary figure of some kind. it grants supernatural powers to the user.
for the record: joel's starter persona is pygmalion, and his starting element is wind. also, in this au, summoning a persona requires stabbing yourself with a special knife, and then using that scar to summon the persona afterwards. this is Middling on the scale of 'edgy ways to summon your persona' in the series, lol. however, joel is special: he's a wild card, which means he will actually throughout the story gain the ability to use other personas and swap them at will. this is a special power only he will possess.
it turns out that he's not the only persona-user in town. grian, one of his classmates, has been attempting to fight shadows mostly on his own, with the help of his teacher, joe hills. joe can't summon a persona, but knows enough about the other world to help grian and now joel out. (although, that's... kind of weird, right...?)
joel now must balance his school life with, you know, fighting shadows to save people from Vanishing and, eventually, to save the world. to figure out WHY the shadows have started Vanishing people, too. and, unfortunately, he can't skimp on the "balancing his school life" aspect, because you see, to a wild card, the bonds he makes with other people are vital. joel will collect social links, each represented by a tarot card. each of these social links are his relationship with another person or group of people, and raising those social links makes him more powerful.
he'll also collect more party members, them represented as one of his social links each as well, and he'll bother his velvet room attendant--jimmy, who's supposed to help him fuse personas and give him cryptic guidance, but like, it's jimmy--and manage to fight his way through the trials and tribulations of being a mildly unwilling video game protagonist in a game where half of the story is having to kind of be everything for everyone at once, and also constant weird things you have to do for the plot.
and that's what i have so far of the au! i am sort of just. making it up as we speak,
Theory: Alastor plans to defeat Lucifer by stealing his angelic grace
Tumblr media
In the TV show Supernatural, which also features Heaven, Hell, angels, and demons, angels have something called "angelic grace", or just "grace", for short (right image). In Supernatural, all angels and Nephilim, or angel-human hybrids, are born with "angelic grace", a divine essence which gives them a great array of powers and abilities, including shapeshifting, immense strength, pyrokinesis, etc.
However, if an angel is captured or killed, their "grace" can also be forcibly taken or harvested, and is one of the rarest and most valuable substances due to this. Angelic and holy weapons may also be infused with "grace". It is unknown whether or not humans or sinners (deceased humans in Hell) can consume "angelic grace", with there being two dominant theories as to to the potential outcome(s):
A human is too weak and mortal to handle "grace", and the human dies as a result; or, assuming that a sinner or demon attempts to imbibe "grace", they are also incompatible. Assuming that angelic weapons in Hazbin Hotel are infused with "angelic grace" - for example, Adam's guitar - this is supported by the fact that sinners can be grievously harmed and killed by angelic weapons.
Humans, sinners, and demons can imbibe "grace", and grow much stronger as a result. In Supernatural, a human drinking demon blood also grants them powers, abilities, and strength. One theory is that a human that ingests enough "angelic grace" becomes an angel (Adam). Another theory is that while stolen "angelic grace" may cause death for the imbiber, "grace" freely given does not. Hence, Alastor's deal with Charlie of her free will.
In Supernatural, that show's version of Lucifer ends up having his "angelic grace" taken in order to trap and imprison him in the "Cage" in Hell. This allows Crowley, a dead human-turned-demon who died in the 1700s, to take the throne as the new "King of Hell" in his stead.
Tumblr media
In Hazbin Hotel, we also know that Alastor, another dead human-turned-demon who died in 1933 (?), also wants to somehow imprison or incapacitate Lucifer, presumably to also take the throne as the new "King of Hell". This also involves getting Charlie out of the way as well.
Tumblr media
Both Crowley from Supernatural and Alastor from Hazbin Hotel are named for Aleister Crowley, a British occultist who died in 1947.
Assuming that Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel also has "angelic grace", and that his inherent "grace" is the source of his power and strength ("pure angelic power"), all Alastor would need to do to achieve his goal would be to figure out how to take, or steal, Lucifer's "grace", which would render Lucifer powerless, while Alastor gains power through Charlie.
However, there is another aspect: In Supernatural, the Nephilim, or angel-human hybrids, also have "angelic grace". Charlie, being half-angel and half-human, is also a Nephilim, which means that she, too, would have "angelic grace" (ex. series creator Vivienne Medrano saying that Charlie also has wings, as well as other angelic abilities).
In theory, the favor that Alastor asks of Charlie could be to lend him some of her "angelic grace", thereby transferring her "angelic power" to Alastor. This would make Alastor much stronger than he is.
Tumblr media
If we go by the logic of Supernatural, Charlie's entire existence could also endanger and upset the balance between Heaven and Hell, as in Biblical lore, the Nephilim were a chaotic force of destruction.
"A Nephilim is a hybrid creature conceived by an angel and a human. The offspring contains a mixture of human soul and angelic grace as a source of power, inherited from both parents.  Whenever a Nephilim grew into their power, entire worlds died, the Nephilim is destinated to became more powerful than the angel that [begat] them.  As a result, conceiving a Nephilim is strictly forbidden by laws of Heaven, and the punishment is death for the celestial parent, along with the child...as a result, they are considered as unholy beings and abominations. [...] Theoretically, removing a Nephilim's grace will turn them into a normal human, as removing the grace of an angel would turn them, effectively, human. It is unknown if the procedure is effective. Though Jack Kline had his grace extracted and absorbed by Lucifer, despite being powerless afterwards, [the angel] Castiel revealed that his grace would recharge in time, throwing whether or not they become human into question. It's later revealed that the Nephilim's grace is what holds their human and angel halves in balance; and, when they lose their grace, their two halves come in conflict with each other, causing the Nephilim's body to shut down progressively. The only way to revert that is for the Nephilim to recharge their grace."
Additionally, the heart of a Nephilim can also be used in rituals against Heaven itself. Charlie is shown holding her heart in Hazbin Hotel:
Agency informant Izaya
During the Decay of Angels arc, Izaya becomes a vampire.
While Ranpo's bailing out the Agency, Izaya is doing damage control to their reputation.
Using facts and logic to dispell the allegations against them in the public eye.
He's been reunited with Atsushi and Kyouka and is helping them, Lucy and Ango with things on the Sky Casino.
And gets captured by Teruko and Tachihara after stalling for time to let the others escape.
Izaya figures out that Tachihara has changed alligances and hands him a drive thst doubles as a recording device. (It's a suprise tool that will help him later.)
Given Izaya is not technically not a member of the Agency, he's bought to Fukuchi for questioning.
Izaya has his own device like Tachihara's and uses it to record everything Fukuchi says during the meeting.
Fukuchi is intrigued by him, because he knows Izaya isn't just your run of the mill informant.
"It's werid, unlike the rest of the Agency we couldn't find anything on you. It's like you don't even exist."
"Funny, I could find everything on you."
Fukuchi chuckles and tells him while I couldn't find anything online, I've heard rumours out in the wild. About a man who uses humanity like puppets.
Izaya, caught off guard but counters that "werid, because the only puppeteer I see is the man before me."
Fukuchi does the classic we're not so different you and I.
"I'm trying to make humanity better than it ever could be, erase all war with just a price. You understand that, you will join me."
Izaya, laughs his arse off because no we ain't. *That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard you can't sacrifice lives for peace. There's not a toll to pay."
Fukuchi takes this... Not so well.
And they end up fighting.
Now Izaya can hold his own in a fight. But as the fight goes on, Fukuchi outmatches and overpowers him.
There's only so much you can dodge a sword that can't bend space and time. And Fukuchi is a soilder with countless surgeries to turn him into the peak of human condition.
Izaya is strong but he's not that strong. He got the information he required and that's what counts.
But he does still have an exist strategy... That's thwarted. And in a last ditch effort, Izaya uses his ability on Fukuchi.
Hoping to use the sudden flashback of memories to catch him off guard and give him an opening to escape.
It doesn't work. Instead Izaya's overwhelmed by the things he sees, the people Fukuchi's tortured, the sheer destruction and suffering.
Fukuchi doesn't bat an eye and stabs him, in multiple futures in multiple areas to keep Izaya from being able to look away or deactivite his ability.
"Funnily enough, I wasn't asking when I said you'd join me."
Izaya, even with all of this manages to press the send button to deliver it all to the Agency just before Bram bites him.
The outfit change is basically Izaya losing his current short coat and ending up with a trench coat (like he does in the Durarara Manga).
His skins grey, his eyes are black and red like the rest of the vampire. Theres also the fact Izaya can walk now, given the reason he couldn't was psychosomatic.
And he's currently mind controlled. With any atrophy from not walking for a very long time being fixed by vampire healing.
With Bram, Fukuchi found out Izaya's ability and decides to use him to gain information.
As he has complete control over Izaya's ability, Fukuchi is able to view the memories he sees.
Fyodor totally gloats over Izaya being turned to Dazai. And he's lucky Dazai and Chuuya are so good at being composed.
Because that's their friend and big brother... You'll pay for that.
The Agency take the news horribly too, Fukuchi is livid. Atsushi takes it the worst because Izaya got captured saving him and the others.
None of them want to fight him but they do end up having too.
When the ability wears off, Izaya collapses but Atsushi is there to catch him. He carries him and helps him back into his wheelchair.
And Izaya hugs him, comforts him that it's not Atsushi's fault but his own. He took a risk but it paid off.
"Were you scared?"
"Nope, you know why? Because I knew you were all gonna save me. And you did."
I’m literally soo devoted to krulu idk what it is he just draws me. i think i would be part of a cult for him if he was real. anyways what are some of the traits admin gains from being his vessel? do they get physical marks or is it just special powers like enhanced strength for example?
Krulu's manifestation in you isn't fixed, it can be something as simple as an "off vibe" to visible mutations and disfigurement. But, listing off some general factors-
Physical mutations
Physically speaking, Krulu can and oftentimes override the left side of your face, his two slitted eyes remaining where your left one was. He does it to study things more closely, or to let someone know he's present;
In a similar vein, your mouth can also be altered to resemble his more closely, facilitating direct speech through your body;
The more you're physically mutated for the higher's convenience, the more black veined protrusions will appear along your body, protruding with varying degrees of intensity, to the point where your feet and hands may become darker, digits elongating;
Both you and Krulu can manifest, from your figure, pairs of his arms. For whatever purpose really. As Admin, you likely use only two at once, as it quickly becomes too many limbs for your brain to coherently pilote at once. But Krulu can use all six of his arms on you, or even more;
Similarly, his tail can also be manifested for a variety of purposes, though it's quite long and disproportionate on you, usually;
On a number of occasions, you've been given the privilege of sporting a manifestation of Krulu's male anatomy on your pelvis. Though this isn't something you can summon at will, permission is required first.
"Abilities"
It's no wonder you have increased strength, is it? You're also noticeably heavier than you should be, but that fluctuates. Generally, this increase in strength is something easy to control, activated in choice moments;
Since your body has been tinkered with very thoroughly, you're also extremely durable for a human. Meaning a stab to the stomach isn't going to do you in, nor will being set on fire or tossed into the bottom of an ocean to drown. Of course, you still feel a lot of pain, but you're not dying anytime soon, not even if a bullet flies right between your eyes;
Inflicting fear and pressure upon others is something extremely easy for you to do, given Krulu's aura always shines a little through you, no matter how well either one of you attempts to mask it. People will simply be intimidated by you, inexplicably afraid, which, in turn, makes them a lot more cooperative;
The sexual rejection response. Whenever Krulu doesn't want anyone touching what's his, he makes it so whoever attempts to penetrate your orifices is met with rows of jagged teeth ready to snap and tear at any offending intruders. Your insides will also clench to nearly impenetrable states, though thankfully painlessly;
In a complete 180, you've been modified to welcome partners who are much bigger than humans. This was done entirely for his pleasure, but that doesn't mean it doesn't come in handy when the two of you pursue someone else.
Less amazing aspects
You go through his ruts. Enough said;
You may still occasionally experience the side-effects of trauma inflicted upon Krulu, due to all the time they spent in the Null. This means that you may have fits on unquenchable hunger as if you've been starving for ages and your stomach is a bottomless pit, usually ending in you bent over, puking your guts out. Alternatively, it can also manifest as hyper-aggressive states and a desire to hide somewhere utterly quiet and suffocatingly dark;
Mental tangling. Sometimes, when either one of you or both are having overactive episodes, your individual thoughts may "leak" onto the other's conscious and begin gradually taking over more and more space, making one element "recess". These episodes are bothersome and can escalate to a point where some time is required to stabilize them.
I'm sure I'm missing some things, but this is what jumps to mind.
Title: Merch woes
Summary: In which Prowl has to deal with abhorrent (in his opinion) merch of himself. Among other things.
Characters: Prowl, Jazz
Warnings: None.
Note: Thought I post one of my fics here. You can find also find it on my Archive of our own and Fanfiction accounts.
---
If there had ever been a time Prowl wished he had laser vision, now would have been great. Perhaps if he glared hard enough, he'd develop the ability through sheer force of will and disintegrate the object that sat ever so innocently on his desk. He hopes so. Logic can go hang itself.
"Not gonna lie," Jazz said, gazing curiously at the thing that managed to earn Prowl's full ire. "I'm kind of surprised they even thought you were marketable. Out of all the mechs here, Bumblebee seems to be the most fit for it." He then smiled. "They got the doorwings right. I'll give them that."
"That is beside the point," Prowl growled. Jazz raised a brow in surprise. Even at his angriest, Prowl wore a mask of restraint, allowing only slivers of his emotions to show in the twitch of his doorwings or the glow of his optics. This was a new development.
"It is completely undignifying and frankly exploitive." He made a vague motion towards it in digest. "I have not, in any shape or form, consented for this...thing, to wear my face."
To describe the said thing, it was ball-shaped and covered in a soft, fluffy white material that resembled a cotton ball having a bad hair day. It was what was attached to it that riled Prowl up. On the front was a head molded to his likeness. Red-horned and scowling. In the back were familiar black and white doorwings, and on the bottom were black flat pads that were supposed to be feet, keeping the fluffy nightmare upright.
"They definitely got the expression down," Jazz laughed.
Cold optics slowly turned to glare at him, hoping to freeze him with their stare alone.
Jazz held up his hands in defense. "I'm just making an observation," he said smoothly.
With a huff, the optics turned their sights back to the accursed pom-pom.
"So, how did you get a hold of one?" Jazz asked.
"I didn't. I opened my door to leave, and there it was, standing there with a note that said, 'They got the look right.' I was then I looked it up and found that some human companies came up with the idea to make stuff with our image, mostly Bumblebee's for some reason." 'Mostly' was an understatement. Mugs, t-shirts, toys for human sparklings, and, for some reason, pillows that were long in length with Bumblebee printed on them in various laying positions. Try as he might, Prowl could not figure out the last one.
Jazz knew. But he wasn't going to say anything, thank you.
"You know," Jazz said. "This could benefit us if you happen to think about it."
In spite of himself, Prowl looked at him with curiosity gleaming through the rock-hard ice in his optics. "What do you mean?"
"Well, you said no one asked you, or to your knowledge, any Autobot to be merchandised, right?"
Prowl nodded in affirmation.
"So, we sue them. But we don't demand that they stop production; we demand a share of the profits that they get. You catch my drift?"
Prowl did catch it, rather reluctantly. "Gain some currency for our use. Financial independence." He sighed, doorwings sagging in defeat. Curse logic. "Fair point. But I am going to firmly insist that all merchandise with my image cease all productions." With that, he started scheduling a meeting with Optimus and the other high rankings to discuss the matter further while simultaneously looking up the best lawyers to hire for the upcoming court battles.
"Great. See you around then," Jazz said, walking towards the door. "Let me know when the meeting is."
"Alright," Prowl said. He had turned away from his desk for a minute, but when he looked back, the scowling puff ball was gone.
"Jazz."
Jazz quickened his pace.
"Jazz!"
"Oh my, would you look at the time? Gotta go." Through the power of cartoon physics, Jazz became a streak of black and white and bolted out of the office, away from the red-horned bull bellowing colorful threats as he charged after Jazz through the halls.
Did Jazz have a death wish? Maybe. But he was going to be scraped before he gave up Little Poofy Prowler anytime soon.
@transford-pines woe, au be upon ye (under cut)
warnings for talk of death and (lethal) injury
context for anyone who doesn’t already have it: this is a gravity falls/fnaf au where none of the books nor anything past sister location happen. also, the nightmares have nothing to do with the illusion disks
i’m more tired than my usual as of writing this, so some bits may be a tad incoherent. my apologies for that. anyway, au explanation time:
this au focuses on the stan twins. stan and michael become the same character, ford and cc become the same character. shermie owns the sister location (and some other things) but is unaware of the fact that the robots are uh. sentient. shermie is the older brother here
that should place filbrick in the role of the william afton, but he’s not. because him murdering random kids for no reason feels like it undermines him being an abusive prick to his own kids in a way. he doesn’t need to be a killer to be terrible, y’know? so the murderer is someone else
seeing as ford is cc in this au, i’m sure you know where this is going. stan doesn’t do the deed himself, but he does watch as it happens (there is a reason/s for this. that i won’t get into right now. we’ll make an addendum later if we remember)
here, the theory about fnaf 4 being an actual nightmare cc is having as they die is true. i’ve always taken it as a ‘facing your trauma/coming to terms with your death’ type deal, and i feel like that fits here. stan promises to put ford back together before the latter dies
this is where we start getting into artistic liberties
stan thinks ‘okay. there’s this college that’s relatively easy to get into and it has courses i can take to learn more about supernatural shit. and that’s the kind of stuff ford was wanting to research anyway, so even if i don’t figure something out, i’ll just do that’. this is how stan meets fiddleford. he will come up again later
stan still needs to get a job, so he goes to shermie for help and ends up working as a technician in the sister location. this way, he gets paid to poke around at stuff that could potentially help him make progress in his studies. it goes pretty great, except for the part where the robots rip his intestines out
are you ready for weird ass ghost shit cause we’re getting into weird ass ghost shit now
stan has the realization that ford has actually been haunting him since he died. he just couldn’t do anything before. but, now that stan is more than well on his way to exiting this mortal plane, ford is finally able to talk to him (which really just consists of stan barely existing and ford going ‘well, you tried. my turn’)
in other words, stan is forgiven (kind of) and ford uses his ghostly abilities (really just possession-ish) to keep stan alive so he can try and…do something about that whole situation. ford rushes stan out of there (‘big sharp metal thing is going to use you as a meat suit if you don’t get out of here’ is pretty good incentive turns out) and he manages to make it to a phone so he can call fiddleford for help
does fiddleford have any experience in engineering entire functioning organs for people? not at all. is he gonna try and figure it out anyway? you bet he is
stan ends up healing okay. ford sticks around (he’s afraid if he lets go of stan, he’ll just immediately keel over). stan introduces fiddleford to his dead brother. fiddleford gains an interest in also studying human anatomy (he needs to be prepared in case stan almost dies again). ford and fiddleford dance at one point. stan confronts shermie about the incident. shermie offers him a position as a night guard in a different location (still plenty of robots there, but no giant death claws. which was the actual problem, as far as he knew. no, he did not know about the extent of the wound). stan takes it because now he wants to know how the hell the animatronics in the sister location got possessed
stan begins investigating any deaths that could be causing the hauntings, which leads him into trying to figure out who (and/or what) is causing the deaths. ford and fiddleford kind of help, though ford is working with the same information as stan (and also keeps scaring the other ghosts away) and fiddleford just offers ideas and advice whenever stan gets back to the dorm. this is essentially where the au starts getting into ‘ooh what’s gonna happen next’ territory.
some things up on the radar: shermie somehow doesn’t believe the twins about the hauntings (despite knowing about the murders), stan witnesses another bite and has a very bad time, and ford and fiddleford talk about hydraulics for a while
do you see what i meant. when i said there were a lot of changes. and to proceed with caution
anyway, that’s all for now. woe, au is no longer upon ye
I finished the game for the first last night (up til 2:30 am lol) and there was some real hurt when the Emperor just up and joined the Netherbrain as soon as PC put her foot down. Like I played my PC as genuinely giving him a chance to be the person he claimed to be. And he does that "don't you trust me uwu" thing as if the issue is trust and honesty. Like no dude, the issue is that what you are planning is unconscionable, not that you lied about your species. Need to write an essay on it tbh
That's actually where me and my bf started to suspect something. We did it just to see what would happen, and him immediately turning on his heel and joining the netherbrain made us go "What?" because it made no sense.
We questioned whether it was poor writing so that you had to choose, but the game is so well written that it didn't make sense. We couldn't figure out why he would just say 'fuck this' and give up everything and doom the world he claimed to care for just because we decided to liberate the Gith. Why why why--
Unless his true goals that he was obscuring from you would be ruined by the actual defeat of the mindflayer Grand Design.
He claims to want to be a member of society, and just to be treated like a normal person. He claims to want to save the world. That is the lie he tells you to gain your aid. I call it a lie, because it is one. If what he said was true, he would encourage you to release the Gith Prince to truly defeat the Grand Design once and for all, because the Gith Prince has the secret to doing so. If he truly wanted to actually save the world, he would want that security against the other mindflayers.
You know why he wouldn't want the release of the Gith Prince? Because the Gith Prince could foil his Grand Design too.
He says fuck you and runs off to join the netherbrain if you release the prince because he's defeated the netherbrain once, and he could likely do it again. It would be a huge inconvenience and it would knock centuries off his plan, and he would prefer not do, but he would do it. He could break free and end up dominating it somehow. He has proven he has the ability more than once.
The Gith Prince though? The prince knows how to truly defeat mindflayers once and for all, supposedly. He can't plan for it because he doesn't know how. It would well and truly foil his plans forever.
If he wasn't planning his own domination, he would want the prince freed to ensure the safety of all of humanity and the realms from the 'other' mindflayers.
That's the only way that makes sense.
Remember when I said all independent mindflayers are still mindflayers and seek to become the brain versus being a servant of it? Well it's a lot easier to do that if you have a band of gullible humans there to help you defeat the netherbrain and think you are their ally. That opens the way clear up for you to become the netherbrain instead and take over their dominion. Especially when the humans think you are their friend and trust you and don't tend to look into your business.
Withers tries to warn you of this. Many people try to warn you. Even Vlaakith, while mainly concerned for her own power, understands that the mindflayer locked in the prism is dangerous. There are books scattered throughout the world that say without a shadow of a doubt that mindflayers are manipulative bastards that are incapable of human emotions and thoughts. They lie to meet their own ends. At first, I thought it was because maybe he was the first... but really, what are the chances of that? Back that knowledge with my other knowledge on mindflayers and also the fact that you are conveniently ridding the world of the netherbrain for him, creating a power vacuum he plans to fill?
He's evil, dude. He's just using you. He will even admit it if you always choose negative options and don't fall for his ruse.
TLDR; The Emperor is a bastard filled with foreshadowing and you should not trust him.
Hi! I love your works and I’m absolutely in love with your Underground Visitor series!!
If you don’t mind me asking, I was wondering who Dren and Morgan would react if the human that came to their world was wholly capable of protecting themselves? Like they came from a different world than the current protagonist, making them a cyborg or something. Basically a reversal of the dynamic, where the human turns out to be even bigger and scarier than the drider haha
This ask mainly comes from the want to protect Dren and his eggies!! Morgan, too, even though they’re such a red flag, I just can’t help but feel like I want to dote on them and protect them XD
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy! <3
Well, that's certainly one way to turn things around! Reader who can and will give an efficient knuckle sandwich >:)
I think if they were a cyborg or something both of them would be hesitant to approach, unsure if they could still fulfill their role, or if their abilities would even affect them. Depends on how far cyborg..y? they are, I guess. Dren would approach them much the same as normal, casually talking to figure if they're a match or not. Putting out some feelers, so to speak. Morgan would wanna watch from a distance a bit longer to figure out if it's worth the risk.
If they get along and start a relation, Dren would probably be a lot calmer, I think? Knowing that they would be 100% capable of breaking someone's arm from looking at his eggs funny would bring him a lot of peace of mind, lmao. He'd appreciate the advantage that you can shift who's looking after them if necessary - that he doesn't necessarily always have to pick up the fight if they can hold their own just as easily. He'd be hesitant to leave them to it, though. He's still got that overly protective instinct, even if it's not needed. He'd probably be a little worried he's not holding his end of the bargain - that's he's supposed to be defending them- and will want to check in now and then so that's he's not gaining more than he's giving. Other than that, he's pretty much the same, and will want to build a strong and healthy relation with them. Also, please do a sparring session with him. He'd love it as a way of bonding, you'll both benefit from the exercise and it's been a loooooong time since he's had a fun fight.
If they figure they can still affect them, Morgan wouldn't know what to do at first. Being feared and seeming more powerful is one of their main strategies in life to get to their goals. In the beginning they'd up the ante, they're not gonna back down just because the sentry seems to know their way around a fight too. Depending in their behavior, they might actually get in a fight with them. Hell, they might even come to enjoy it. They'll use their abilities to make sure the sentry can't purposely kill them while it's going on, getting close enough to make that effect permanent. If they're stubborn, Morgan might leave them alone for a bit, remaining close but out of sight. They'll patiently wait until the pain of loneliness sets in. They'll probably try and spin the story so that they won't like other common-folk, and vice versa. It's Morgan or no one. Or, if they have those rose tinted glasses and wanna defend Morgan of their own accord, well. They'll be happy to be your partner in crime. Conjoined bloodshed can be a great bonding activity <3
So uh-
Assassin Creed x Stanley parable swap?
Tumblr media
More likely than you think!
I truly can't help but find quite a few similarities with Stanley and Desmond- as well as a certain overlooked employee turned timekeeper and Clay(subject 16). I couldn't just NOT doodle a swap.
Also enjoy a silly comic of Desmond after being isekaid into the parable as Stanley. (And a few little headcanons afterwards)
Tumblr media
So bonus little headcanons/ideas for this very very silly crossover/switch.
Desmond and Clay are thrown into the parable during the events of Revelations (most likely by some shenanigans involving the black room and code leftover from the original Isu device they based the animus upon... but instead of being *transported* there as themselves, they end up swapping identities with two certain employees... as such, everyone in their universes see them *as* those characters.
- the parable in this Au would most likely be some isu prototype to see if they could create an ai that was all powerful but also very human (possibly simulate what may happen if humans gained free will?). Going by this, the Narrator would be the sentient Ai meant to run the parable over and over again.. but before the Isu could end it, they were all near completely wiped out and leaving the Narrator to constantly run his parable again...and again...and again.
The Nareator is no longer aware that was his original purpose- having been so long ago. As such he is fully sentient even *if* he doesn't actually have a form(a headcanon I have for my actual Narrator).
Stanley, as well as all the other employees, were humans whose minds were uploaded to the parable.
Desmond has a hard time getting used to the Narrator - and unlike Stanley, he isn't afraid to call him out on it (also freak him out with 'Stanley's' sudden Parkour abilities)... but will often just follow alone until he and Clay cam figure out how to get back to their 'real' world...
Clay however... well, let's just say he absolutely *enjoys* messing with the narrator as the new timekeeper. In his life he was a hacker, and months in the blackroom made that even *easier*. So imagine a man with too much time on his hands finally able to something in retaliation for all the shit he went through.
Poor Narrator is the punching bag given he is a creation of the Isu and reminds Clay way too much of Juno sometimes.
(I'm planning on doing one for Stanley and employee 432 as well- but I need to work on my Stanley design and actually make one for 432)
For the 🦖Dino Squad🦕 AU, the teens are certainly going to have a wild time. Who wouldn't, if they suddenly gained the ability to turn into a dinosaur? And then have only four other teenagers like that, plus one adult raptor who likes them and is their science teacher, and one adult raptor who is an evil doctor/geneticist who hates humans, who they can confide in? Yep, babies are gonna need weekly therapy.
And it's not that Logan and Victor are awful towards them, NO. It's just a lot to put up with, having to fight mutated plants and animals from some crazy guy, and then only have insight into their abilities by your teacher who, thankfully, isn't evil. Those two also have their own ways of handling the teens/dinosaurs. Logan knows they are both, while Victor only knows they're dinosaurs. They will both try to nurture what dinosaur instincts pops up in the teens, but they go about it in different (and some similar) ways.
Logan, on the one hand, wants them to be safe, and cares about their human and dinosaur selves. He tries his best, explaining what he remembers about their species, and making sure they feel comfortable in both forms. Of course, doing that for five teenagers is a Herculean task. He does his best to be firm and gentle, and is careful to let the kids know that he understands they are young, and they want to have fun. But safety and keeping their secret secure is also important, especially with Victor involved. He mah take the kids on food hunting/foraging trips, especially if they have a predatory instinct. Snacks are available in the lighthouse, where the kids can reach them, and labeled so they know what it is and who it's for. Teaching them how to not hurt themselves by accident in Dino form is one of the many things he teaches them, alongside what is good for their diet, how to properly rest in their dinosaur forms, and what they are able to do as that dinosaur.
Victor, on the other hand, cares for the dinosaurs, but isn't aware they are actually teenagers as well. He knows they're juvenile dinosaurs, and he's aware of their species' needs and wants. He has different biomes set up in his base, suited for each dinosaur, and upkeep them. A nesting/resting ground, available water sources, trees, and an optimal climate, tailored to what he remembers was enjoyed by their dinosaur species. Food is provided, but he either sets it in there beforehand, or brings it in while the teens are asleep (assuming they were knocked out and then brought to his base). This gives him a chance to study them up close, looking over them and feeling a sense of relief and pride. He would possibly show his dinosaur form to them, if only to show he is like them, someone to be trusted.
If Victor ever found out Logan was alive, he'd be rather pleased. And possibly angry. His brother would be soon in his grasp, once he can get a hold of him. But his brother likely knew he was alive, and didn't come back on his own. He can't figure out if he's more pleased than he is upset, but he would focus on the fact he had proof his baby brother was alive and well, and he had plans to see him very soon... If only he could convince him to join him...
If he ever found out the teens weren't just dinosaurs, but were able to be human, he'd see it as reverse evolution of what happened to him and his brother. He'd find it fascinating. They were the most perfect specimens he'd ever achieved, and from how it happened, it feels almost as though he were a parent to them. If anything, that scenario would make him want to keep them in his clutches, and not let go. If he could convince them his plan was best, them maybe he wouldn't have to keep them under lock and key... but he just can't stand the idea, the possibility, of anyone hunting them or killing them. It would break him.
I guess the point is: The teens have two stressed and happy-to-help raptor dads. It's just one is small and their science teacher, while the other is a large and intimidating villain...
Give us more Haru lore 👀
Tumblr media
GLADLY but I can't reveal too much bc of spoilers since my GF and I are working on a thing together about the foxxo and her dragon husband uwu we hope to release it very soon. For now I can tell you a bit of her background +  about her.
Haru is from the spirit realm and she comes from a very wealthy and highly respected family. She was born around the Heian Period , Kannin Era (year 1021). She was born as a small fox and couldn't shapeshift properly into a human-like form until she was about 7 years old as she wasn't able to control her abilities and powers let alone figure out how (she was just a child after all), thus making her a late bloomer (in her parent's eyes that is, they always put too much pressure on her and have high expectations).
Now having 9 tails, Haru has better control over her powers and has many abilities such as: Multiplying herself - At most she can make 9 clones of herself. She leaves one clone at home to keep watch over the house while she is working with her husband, Norio.
Fox familiars - Haru can hear and see everything through her fox familiars, wherever they are she will hear and see all. She is everywhere, yet nowhere. Her familiars are very useful in the type of work she does at night (assassin). During the day she assists her husband (who is a CEO) with work and often times he likes to steal one of her familiars cuz they are sooo cute and technically her. His wifey is just soooo cute and fluffy you know.
Shapeshifting / Transformation - She can turn into either a small fox, medium fox or an even larger size; larger than a house even. She can also transform into the opposite sex or a small child, usually to trick others. Haru often likes to transform as her husband just for fun. When she transforms as other people the only way you can tell she isn't legit is when you see a sakura birthmark on her forehead.
Illusion Manipulation / Dream Manipulation - Pretty much speaks for itself I think. Haru can make illusions seem so real and trap you within it that you might not ever come to reality. She revels in breaking others' mentality for fun or when one dares cross her. Foxes love to play tricks after all and she is very petty, she will not be the bigger person if someone messes with her. She is the epitome of r/pettyrevenge. Definitely don't do weed before encountering her.
And much more.
Haru may seem scary,,, but ,,well,,, she really is. She is mischievous, cryptic and loves to manipulate others for her own gain. To see one squirm underneath her gaze brings her delight but she is harmless if you show her respect and treat her kindly, she will treat you the same in return. Hell, maybe even give her offerings in food, like strawberry daifuku, fried tofu or even a hamburger and she might give you her protection. But absolutely do not betray her trust.
Around her husband she is just so affectionate and cheerful towards him. She even has a bit of a silly side such as pouncing into the snow when no one is looking and has a habit of snatching her hubby's belongings so she can be chased by him. Those fox instincts you know. Nyoom.
Thank you so much! I'm sorry this got long > < I just love my kon kon girl so much.
Grailfinders #24: Georgios
Tumblr media
today on Grailfinders, we’re finally getting back to work on the OG servants with Georgios! dear ol’ Dragons Georg is a Champion, because what else is a cleric with a sword supposed to be? that being said, we do make some pit stops into the Cavalier archetype for a cool horse that will not eat you, as well as the Game Hunter archetype to ruin dragons’ days even more, and the Knight Vigilant archetype to become a vigilant knight.
and yes, I’m still using the “confused with a nature god” excuse to give him some extra stuff to do. if nasu can create an entire servant based on one niche reading of a mythological figure so can I. I will be vindicated when saber Georgios comes out in LB 8.
check out his build breakdown below the cut, or his character sheet over here!
next up: Teach me, Blackbeard-san!
Ancestry & Background
While we will be spicing it up later, Georgios starts out as a bog-standard Human. that gets him a +2 in Wisdom and Constitution, but not a whole lot else at level 1. that being said, he is pretty Versatile, giving him a free first-level general feat like Ride. with this, you can automatically command animals to move while riding them, and they act at the same time you do. you also get situational protection from mental effects when you Keep Up Appearances as a reaction. this doesn’t make you immune to emotional effects, but it does prevent enemies from capitalizing on them.
at level 5, you can Sense Allies. a good tank always knows what their party is doing, otherwise the healer might run off and get himself killed pulling yet another mob group we weren’t ready for and- ahem. sorry. we’ve been playing a lot of FFXIV lately. the important thing is you can always detect when allies are nearby, and finding them while hidden is a lot easier.
at level 9 you become a Hardy Traveler, making it easier to ride around in heavy armor. turns out dragons don’t wait that long to attack.
at level 13 you gain a Stubborn Persistence that helps keep you from getting fatigued by making a flat check to avoid the effect. you still have to get away from whatever’s causing it though, or you’ll have to remake the check every once in a while.
finally, at level 17 you can Bounce Back once per day, preventing you from being wounded after hitting 0 HP. that’s one more chance to get up from being knocked down, which is practically a guts on its own.
George’s real background was a soldier, but we can pick up soldiering skills from anywhere- getting photography lessons at a later level would feel weird. that’s why we’re starting as a Printer. that gives you a boost in Charisma and Wisdom, as well as training in the Society and Scribing Lore skills. you’re also Multilingual, giving you two more languages now, and even more if you level up in society. George is simultaneously Greek, Palestinian, and English, depending on who you ask. a real globe-trotter!
Starting Proficiencies
yeah this part takes so long I’m making a whole new section for it.
Trained: Perception; Religion; Survival; Athletics; [Diplomacy; Medicine]; Reflex saves; Class DC; unarmed, simple, and martial attacks; unarmored, light, medium, and heavy armor
Expert: Fortitude saves, Will saves
Class Levels
1. your Key Ability is Strength, giving you another boost to help haul that big sword around. you also get an Ability Boost in four more stats, like Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Charisma.
I’ve heard rumors that they’re planning on removing alignment restrictions for Champions in the next Pathfinder update, but to be honest, being a Paladin still works really well for you. with this, you can Lay on Hands using your devotion points, which are usually one per devotion spell per day, and can be recharged by spending ten minutes doing good deeds. touch someone, and they get healed.
you can also make a Retributive Strike against an enemy who attacks another ally. this grants the ally in question some damage resistance, and you get to make an attack if they’re close enough. you also get trained in Nature for some reason.
following the trend of useless features, you can Shield Block. useful if you have one, but Georgios usually doesn’t carry a shield. maybe he should? might help.
one last feature, your Deity’s Domain grains you a second devotion point and spell. I’d rather just get the Might domain’s second spell right away, but we need to get Athletic Rush first. this spell increases your movement speed and your athletics checks, and as part of the action you use to cast the spell you can stride, leap, climb, or swim. it’s really just helping you be a lot more physical in short bursts. given what you’re fighting, every little bit helps.
2. at level two, you can take the oath to become a Dragonslayer! that means you have to fight evil dragons now, and to help with that you get a +4 bonus to damage against evil dragons when using your retributive strike. again, every bit.
you also hold the Eyes of the City, making it easier to track creatures in villages and towns by listening to local’s stories. I’m sure this can also help you find the perfect photo ops too.
we’re also grabbing the Cavalier archetype this level, giving you an animal companion. you can also pledge yourself to a cause now for bonuses in the archetype later, and given how champions are all about pledging themselves you’ve pretty much done that already.
3. at level three you gain a Divine Ally, a steed who is… also an animal companion with the mount ability. huh. you can’t keep both at the same time, so we’re mostly going to focus on the champion companion.
thankfully, other features like Express Rider can work regardless of the companion you’re partnered with, making it easier to increase your travel speed while riding.
you’re also an expert in Religion now. it’s kind of your thing. that and the dragons, obviously.
4. at level four your Divine Health makes it harder for you to get sick- you get a +1 to all saves against diseases, and your successes are always critical.
you’re also an Experienced Professional, so your photography is never bad enough to keep you from making any money off of it. I know as a man of god you’re not into material possessions, but you’re going to need quite a nest egg to afford a dragonslaying sword.
you also pick up a Cavalier’s Banner, giving all allies within 30’ of your mount a +1 bonus to will saves against fear, at the cost of causing them to be frightened when your banner is destroyed. carrying a flag everywhere is a little unwieldy, but hey it’s more mental debuff resistance.
5. at level five you get an Ability Boost in Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Charisma again. more health, more dragonslaying, more spell power. you’re also better at Scribing now, since that’s what we’re using as your photography. everybody needs a hobby.
on top of that, your Weapon Expertise makes you an expert with weapons! everything except advanced weapons are your for the using!
6. at level six you get a Loyal Warhorse, making your champion steed a mature companion, and it can no longer attack you, even if magically compelled to. kind of a specific feature, but given your horse’s unique dietary needs, that’s probably for the best.
you’ve spent enough time studying photography that your Unmistakable Lore makes it easier to recall knowledge about the process, preventing critical failures.
you can also Defend Mount as a reaction, taking the hit for your horse while you’re riding it. that’s kind of the opposite of how this is supposed to go, but you’ll have a lot more defensive buffs by the time this is over to eat damage.
7. speaking of, your new Armor Expertise does what you’d expect, plus you get the armor specialization effects of medium and heavy armor. you can also Pick up the Pace while traveling to hustle more, and you’re a master of Religion.
on last thing- your Weapon Specialization adds an extra 2 damage to all your attacks, and grows as your weapon training does.
8. at level eight you get the Advanced Deity’s Domain devotion spell, giving you a third devotion point each day which you can use to cast Enduring Might. as a reaction, you get resistance to all damage from one attack or effect. this is Bayard’s one attack nullification effect, and it also grows as you level up and also based on your strength.
speaking of defense, you can pray for some sacred defense as an action once an hour! if you succeed, you’ll get some temporary hp- you can also try a harder check for more of it!
if all this protection is getting you down, lets go on the offense with the game hunter dedication! with this, you can target creatures with the hunt prey action if you can see it, hear it, or you’re tracking it down. this gives you a +2 bonus to seek and track it, as well as a bonus to stealth checks! you can also get an extra bonus- if you hit your prey while its flat-footed, it needs to make a constitution save. on a failure, it gets slowed down for up to a minute.
9. that last bit from level 8 uses your class dc, so it’s a good thing your champion expertise just came around to give you expertise in your class dc and divine spells. your divine smite makes creatures you make a retributive strike against take persistent damage too.
your saves get better when you become a juggernaut with lightning reflexes. that’s mastery in fortitude saves, plus more crit succs, and expert for reflex saves.
you’re also an expert with nature now for better riding!
10. level 10’s another ability boost in strength, constitution, wisdom, and charisma! all the stuff you need to slap up a dragon real good. well, most of it. we’re working on it, it’s a long-term goal! on thing that’ll help is your battle prayer, helping you blast an enemy with good or law damage once a day. the damage even triples once you’re legendary in religion.
on the nonmagic side, your steed is now an imposing destrier, turning it into a savage animal companion, plus it gets an action each turn even if you don’t spend time commanding it, letting it attack or move for free!
speaking of movement, your quick positioning helps you get into the thick of things at the start of battle against your prey, letting you step up to two times for free. you’re the one with all the defense buffs, so make sure you’re between your friends and your dragons.
11. at level 11 your alertness gives you expert perception, and your divine will makes you a master of will saves, with more crits to boot! you’re also a master of nature!
you can also exalt your retributive strike, getting the rest of your party in on the hitting stuff action! everybody within 15’ of you can make a melee attack with a -5 penalty as a reaction. just really julius caesar his ass.
you also get an incredible investiture, letting you attune to more magic items. the bones of saints are relics, so you already have like, 200+ magic items on you! congrats!
12. at level 12 you become a Blade of Justice. you can spend two actions to make a special attack against something you’ve seen hurt an innocent person, dealing extra damage against evil creatures, and letting you turn all the damage into good! you can also use all your retributive strike effects on this attack.
as a master of nature, you have Morphic Manipulation, helping you grow a plant through ten minutes of meditation. doing this more than once a day is possible, but it makes you fatigued, and you can’t do it more than twice a day. told you we were bringing back the nature god stuff.
one last thing- you can spend three actions on a Trampling Charge, moving your mount up to its speed and through enemies, dealing damage to everything it passes through, based on the targets’ reflex saves.
13. at level 13 your Armor Mastery gives you mastery… in armor! shocking, I know. you’re also a master in scribing now! and your Weapon Mastery does exactly what you’d think. easy level!
14. at level fourteen, you’re actually expected to fight dragons! at least I assume so, since that’s the level you can finally emit a Wyrmbane Aura, protecting yourself and nearby allies from elemental damage, with extra protection if that damage is from a dragon’s breath.
you can also Quick Mount now, mounting a creature and giving it an order in the same action! dragons move fast, but so do you.
you can also use Double Prey now to mark two enemies at the same time. FGO has three slots in each wave, but if you’re fighting dragons usually one of them is really big and takes up two of those, so it all works out!
15. level fifteen’s Ability Boost bumps your Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, and Wisdom. at this point brute strength won’t add too much to your fight, it’s all about survivability. you’re also a Caravan Leader, for more hustle in your bustle while traveling.
your Greater Weapon Specialization adds even more damage to every swing, and we’ll also bump your Athletics up to expert so you can stay on your horse easier.
16. at level 16, Bayard becomes an Auspicious Mount, making it a specialized companion that can be an “Auspice” mount. there are other options, but the feat’s named after it, come on. this gives your mount expertise in Religion, the ability to speak celestial, and increased intelligence and wisdom.
you’ve also been a knight long enough at this point to know some Courtly Graces, letting you use your societal training to make impressions on nobles. given that your society is actually worse than your diplomacy, that may not be a good idea. you look the part though.
speaking of knighthood, you’re now a Knight Vigilant. this increases your proficiency in Religion to Legendary status, and you now provide greater cover to your allies as they stand behind you.
17. more skill buffs! your Champion Mastery improves your spells and class DC, while your Legendary Armor makes you legendary with armor. you’re also legendary in Nature now, to be almost superhuman in your ability to ride creatures. because you are. that’s how servants work.
18. you now exude an Aura of Righteousness, giving you and all allies resistance to evil damage. you now resist evil, elemental damage, and specific attacks, so it’s really hard for a dragon to actually fight you and leave a scratch.
you’re so religious, you can receive Divine Guidance by spending 10 minutes reading the bible. you make a religion check of the DM’s choice of DC, and you can get a hint on how to move forward.
you can also Keep up the Good Fight once an hour. if you’d drop to 0 HP without dying, you can react to stay a 1 HP with some temporary HP to boot, and you become wounded. unless you bounce back. now this is a guts. and it’s also like 90% of the reason we grabbed Knight Vigilant anyway.
19. at level 19 we go entirely off script thanks to your Fey Life. we’re about to go through faerie britain, so you’re bound to save at least one fey, right? your nearby surroundings are now super vibrant at all times, which would mostly be flavor if not for your photography hobby. you can also summon fey once a day, but that’s not why we’re here.
the first time you die past this point, you come back to life, becoming part fey. now this is the gutsiest guts we could guts. I mean get. I know Georgios is more know for being used as solo fodder, but all that means is he’s great at dying and coming back!
this is great, but it comes with a cost- the second time you die, and each time after, you become completely fey, and no longer care about the material world, essentially turning you into an NPC. this can be reversed with a three-day ritual, but the third and subsequent times would require something like the wish spell to be fixed.
you also gain the Hero’s Defiance devotion spell, letting you heal yourself as a free action right before you would drop to 0 HP, so hopefully you won’t die that often. plus, you’re better at athletics again.
20. for your final level, you get an Ability Boost for Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, and Wisdom. you also become a Sacred Defender, giving you a further 10 resistance to physical damage caused by evil or dragon creatures, and you’re immune to critical hits.
furthermore, you can now Influence Nature over the course of 10 minutes, trying a nature check to affect the behavior of animals in the area, like setting up natural alarms via songbird, or making hunting for food a lot easier.
finally, you can gain Lead the Way, spending two actions to guide an ally through danger. your movement will still trigger reactions, but theirs won’t. it’s rough, but that’s kind of the job you signed up for.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
you are really, really, really hard to kill. you have resistance to almost anything a dragon can throw at you, which means you have resistances to almost everything. add onto that your solid health pool, high AC, self-healing, and ability to further block up attacks as a reaction, and you won’t go down easily. and then you’ll get right back up with one of your three or four abilities that just lets you ignore being knocked out. and then you’ll get back up with your “say no to death” card.
all that tankitude is great for taking hits for the team. you block up line of sight against enemies, you have some powerful counterattacks to encourage enemies focus on you, and you can help your team move around while only making yourself a valid target.
for a guy in plate mail you’re so goddamn fast it isn’t funny. not in combat, of course, but being able to cut down on travel time is fantastic in games that care about that sort of thing. travel speed can mean the difference between getting ambushed and setting an ambush yourself.
Cons:
you need your reaction ready simultaneously to heal yourself, counterattack, and block damage. obviously, you can’t do all those at once. this means that if anything, you’re thinking more when it’s not your turn than when it is, and that’s a weird playstyle to get used to. guess it’s par for the course for defensive types.
that “no death for me thanks” card from earlier comes with a major drawback in trading one death for a later, very permanent one. while your defenses are fantastic, you also have to take into account how much hate you’re focusing on yourself.
final downside: the horse can’t come with you everywhere. I know I haven’t brought up Bayard too much in terms of combat effectiveness, but Pathfinder is a lot better than D&D when it comes to horse survivability, and both increasing your own movement speed and getting all the horse-exclusive features from Cavalier is a nice bonus. unfortunately, Bayard is both large and an animal, so there’s plenty of spaces you simply can’t take him.
