i struggle to read marcilles succubus as a sexual fantasy

i feel that chilchuck is the only one who gets a clear cut sex fantasy presented to him bc hes the only member of the party with the kind of sexual experience that would make him let his guard down that way. hes been married his entire adult life, was sexually active since he was a teenager, hes the only one who makes sex jokes (which dont land, see that extra on tentacles), and we know hes been faithful to the wife he has not seen in years. that is a very long time to be dry

while its certainly possible to read marcilles fantasy as a virgin maidens desired seduction, its also very chaste even for that. her knight is covered head to toe, and looks like an overdesigned fantasy character, with no sexual appeal. hes posed on a horse, but in such a way that specifically covers his groin. there isnt a physicality to him that kui uses often to draw the eyes to a sensual nature--compare that pose to how the winged lion poses (for laios, not marcille, he ALSO is posed less sexually when with marcille, though i could be forgetting a pose here or there) to highlight his seductive nature.

even in swinging down from his horse, theres just no carnality. hes stiff legged, body turned away from the camera.

its all very romantic in a courtly fashion. i.e. the fantasy is a lot more about this decorated man telling her shes a princess who belongs in a castle. its a 12yos dream boyfriend made real.

marcille isnt comfortable enough with herself as a potentially sexual being to get even close to what works on chilchuck--she seems almost afraid of recognizing peer-to-peer relationships, and that deeply impacts her ability to engage with sex. look back at how she engages with falins shows of intimacy in the bath scene and the bed scene after: when falin engages as an equal, as an adult, marcille panics, and pushes her back into a childs role. she starts lecturing falin when she tries to return mana, not listening to her say she has a well of it right now. when falin comments that shes grown tall and strong and may not fit in a single bed with marcille anymore, marcille dismisses her with "you'll always be a kid to me!"

while marcille is not a child, she straight up is not ready for sex yet bc of that resistance to having peer relationships

miscellaneous threshold au halfbaked thoughts bc idk ive been playing sims and frying my brain

had another CAPTAIN philippa arc thought about her becoming a wanted criminal by starfleet, framed for whatever reason,,, its vague in my head but im always looking for an excuse to explore trekverse outside of starfleet haha. her just out in space trying to clear her name. would not have a cringe court scene of people backing her claim. i would die.

was thinking that philippa as a field medic might be more prone to being stationed on PLANETS rather than ships for long periods of time, just helping out in planetary warfare.

with that ^ i was thinking about her helping out during a pandemic and her hyperevolved human blood helps find a cure in some way. was thinking id situate this around the time that shes a commander serving underneath Moidrah, her captain kinda 👀s her after discovering the cure with her DNA.

ALSO was thinking that maybe Liam would have a unique little padd that he carries around that writes out what people are verbally saying when hes younger and doesnt have lip reading down?? idk on that one haha i was trying to think of more “futuristic” ways he could seamlessly exist around so many different alien spoken languages. was wondering about the visuals of mouths moving, how the universal translators are an Audible adjustment, how itd maybe be unable to help with how aliens are Actually talking and moving their mouths speaking their native tongues. my thought was that Ed would help put all these languages in his lil padd device and it translates it all into written english (or whatever humans speak, Standard??? idk i feel like it has a name)

wanna work with amelia and ed during Protectors more,,,, QUITE HONESTLY a lot of the chakotay plot was just them talking,,,,, from what i remember lol its a blur. but i was yearning thinking about the end of that book when theyre on the ark planet with all the Protectors and theyre all helping to grow stuff and Liam (O’Donnell) in particular is playing with the Protectors hehe,,,, anyway thinking about amelia and ed being down there with their papa, particularly Ed being around weird animals. maybe Ed hangs out with ODonnell as hes analyzing the planet’s animals for those few chapters,,,,, i forget what all the other characters are doing during that book tbH,,,,,,,, i just want them to be equally having done stuff during those four months of Protectors yknow;)

i do understand the idea that betty was kind of robbed of more complexities than just "girl who was obsessed with her boyfriend and didnt treat herself well bc of it" & i do understand the idea that the conclusion to simons arc was halfbaked. i genuinely cant really explain it, but i do agree there were a lot of complexities ignored ab both of those things, but also, like, idk. i feel like simon & bettys relationship has not really been explored to the extent of it's complexities... erm... Ever? the closest theyve gotten is temple of mars, and well, the ending of that episode is not especially uplifting. i think this fell within my realm of expectations, not to say people who had higher expectations are wrong of course. which is why i can pretty confidently say i liked the finale. it gave me what i wanted, for the most part, as a long term fan of adventure time. i will always agree though that shows like this deserve more episodes than theyre given, which is hardly the fault of the writers and animators behind the show.

JIN - jin strikes me as pretty even-tempered, so if you were to make him angry it would be more on the serious side so thoughts of flipping it would be less likely. arguing with him, though?? shit would be heated as fuck and before either of you know it, you’d forget what you’re mad about. more interested in undressing each other as an apology.

TAEHYUNG - most of the times when i’ve seen bits of taehyung getting upset, he sort of just becomes quite and doesn’t really express it. but you can still see it on his face, so there’s that to work with. but above all, if you were to do something that would get to him, he’d most likely distance himself for a while. but once he was back the makeup sex (with hints of leftover anger) would be 10/10.

YOONGI - dude, i think if you were to piss yoongi off he just wouldn’t?? want to fuck with you after that. and you’d just have to wait for him to work it out on his own before he was coming and talking to you. so like, you wouldn’t ever really see him angry, but just know that he was... but when he came back?? top tier makeup sex, no doubt.

im constructing a halfbaked idea about a fake dating au where, for contrived reasons, lewis has to pretend to date both arthur and vivi, at the same time

it goes something like

arthur’s Shitty Family is coming to tempo for some like holidays or some shit. this sucks and there is indication that they will continue showing up no matter how passive aggressive he and lance are to make them miserable. however arthur has determined for some? reason? (maybe some “well he’s a lost cause” bullshit) that they will Fuck Off if they think he has an actual boyfriend.

so out of pure fuck-my-family desperation he summons up all his courage and asks lewis, who a) he sorta-kinda knows already, even if they don’t really talk after an Exceptionally Shitty group project they were on together, b) seems nice enough to maybe be convinced to go along with this for like a week, and c) he does actually have a huge crush on so when asked “who do you want to pretend to date” he was the first and basically only name that popped into his head.

lewis a) is in fact, very nice and b) maybe also does have a crush on this shitty group project acquaintance, so he’s like ok i’ll play along for a week

MEANWHILE

vivi, lewis’s longtime friend, gets asked to idk a dance or something by just, a real asshole classmate. after a bit of back-and-forth and just, really desperate to get him to fuck off, blurts out “i already have a boyfriend ok!” asshole classmate says oh yeah? prove it. so vivi goes to lewis and says hey can you do me a huge favor and prove this asshole wrong with me?

lewis says of course, vivi, you are my best friend and i would do anything for you. there is a slight problem though. i may already be fake dating someone else.

hurty lil halfbaked head canon: Mary Campbell and John Winchester don’t even really love each other. (this got REALLY long so i cut it) (tldr: they were together for Extreme Plot Reasons, and the writers did such a bad job SHOWING us that they loved each other, that TELLING us made their Epic Love Story ring hollow)

He was just this guy she was sneaking around her parents to see, and then they get murdered by Old Yeller Eyes, and then BAM! so does John, until she makes The Demon Deal (why didn’t she bring back her parents? she was sick of the Hunting life. why did she bring back John? she thought she could get away from the Hunting life by being with him).

so they’re teenagers infatuated with each other to start, but then after the Demon Deal, John doesn’t know anything about it, and Mary’s keeping that bit tucked away forever, thank you very much, and she KNOWS that part of the deal is “I’m gonna bleed on your baby in a couple years lol”, but she doesn’t say anything. I wonder if she even wanted to have kids? And then when she had Baby Dean, did she sit in his bedroom all night every night when he was 6 months old? And when OYE didn’t show up, did she breathe the first sigh of relief she’s breathed in YEARS?

see, i don’t think they loved each other, bc A Real Big Theme in early seasons was “Free Will, Motherfucker! Do You Have It?!” and that one episode where we meet both the lil Cupid AND we meet Famine... those two lovers who literally eat each other to death (squick), we find have been PRE ORDAINED TO MEET (and fuck), and THEN we find out that the Campbell (Mary) line has literally been BRED BY THE ANGELS LIKE LIVESTOCK to produce Perfect Hunters, and the Winchester (John) line has ALSO BEEN BRED LIKE LIVESTOCK BY THE ANGELS to be the Perfect Nerds (there’s some retconning from the Men of Letters season) and again, THE ANGELS HAVE BEEN PLAYING “THE SIMS” WITH ENTIRE BLOODLINES AND GENERATIONS OF PEOPLE in order to produce Perfect Vessels. Zachariah flat out tells Dean that the Winchesters and Campbells HAD to fuck and produce Dean and Sam in order to produce Michael’s and Lucifer’s True Vessels.

swinging on back to “Mary and John probably didn’t even love each other”: so they’re drawn to each other (literally, there’s marks on their hearts), but their Grand Romance starts with the demonic murder of Mary’s parents and boyfriend, whom she resurrects via Demon Deal. I know (I KNOW) John reminisces about the Zepp Traxx he gives to Mary etc, but they were already tied together by like, what? Their third date? And since Mary knows the Demon Deal is “baby ooohh”, would she NOT be extremely reluctant to have children? Would she not surreptitiously be on some kind of birth control in order to prevent a pregnancy? And if the angels are playing The Sims here, wouldn’t they make that birth control fail? They NEED those Vessels born, dang it.

Idk, that’s where it becomes half-baked. we know that Jimmy Novak and Amelia were Soul Mates, destined for each other, and that when Jimmy dies, Amelia cannot cope and eventually dies a pathetic and horrible death bc she literally can’t live without that midwest twunk. And then when she DOES die, she opens her own front door (in Heaven), and she is REUNITED with Jimmy-- they literally share the same afterlife. (But Mary like... never went to Heaven?? Where even was she? Was this addressed and I forgot it?)

Further to the Interesting Parallels That Totally Got Dropped: when Jimmy dies at the hands of the Supernatural, Amelia crisscrosses America to *find Jimmy*. When Mary dies at the hands of the Supernatural, John crisscrosses America to *kill the shit out of stuff*. Idk, that feels like an interesting kind of litmus test: if your soulmate gets murdered by A Creature, do you find a way to get your soulmate back... or do you just start killing Creatures?

Part of it (a lot of it) is Bad Writing Where They TOLD Us So Many Times But Didn’t SHOW Us Even Once, and part of it really is “The angels were playing The Sims and that’s why these ppl hooked up, even if they weren’t actually very compatible”. I mean, how do you build a real life and relationship with a woman who won’t let you meet her parents, tells you NOTHING about her past, and is REALLY eager to just say “Let’s get in your car and drive away and never come back!”?

On the other hand, John is ALSO untethered? We learn in the Men of Letters season (so, wayyyy past what was originally plotted) that Henry Winchester is a Man of Letters, and he dies while John is like, 10. Okay, so he grew up without knowing his father, doesn’t know wtf his father did all day, etc etc (where’s his mom tho). Anecdata: a friend’s father was in WW2 (my friend was born in the 1960s), and for the rest of his miserable shit life, he reminisced fondly about The Boys he was on a platoon with. This was a man with very little emotional connection to his wife, zero emotional connection to his 3 children (all born post-war!), but would drop everything for One Of The Boys. Now, John Winchester, having grown up without parents (we literally never hear about his mom?), and then heading off to Vietnam? Probably gonna follow a similar trajectory to A Lot Of Dudes Throughout History Who Have Gone To War: their Army Buddies mean more to them than literally anyone else in their lives. So even though he’s married now, I suspect John Winchester is going to be more open and emotionally honest with his Buddies than his Little Woman. And sure, he’ll be proud of having a son, it’s something to drink about with The Guys!

idk, it just seems like John Winchester is the kind of guy who has a wife bc she’s beautiful and he likes her and he’s straight and it’s What You Do. You leave the army, you settle down. But you go on fishing trips with The Guys a couple times a month or so. Idk, like I said, half-baked.

I just think that Mary was always waiting for The Other Shoe To Drop, and that John suffered the same kind of stunted socialization that a LOT of American guys historically have suffered from, in that their only Real Emotional Connections are with their Army Buddies and NOT their wives. I think they got together because the Angels/Plot forced them to be together, and they fulfilled something in each other, but I think they weren’t IN LOVE with each other, and their marriage was more Love Due To Obligations.

And I know there’s been retcons left and right! I know! And Forgive Me Padre For I Have Sinned but I bailed on Supernatural during the British Men of Letters arc, so I haven’t seen very many episodes with Resurrected!Mary, but I’m sure they’ve retconned even more!

In my TMNT fanfic WIP - CHAIN REACTION, TCRI has been experimenting with the ooze and on animals since the original ninja-turtle-making canister went missing. These large-scale mutant experiments are how I introduce the female turtles* that form the North American Indigenous Reptile Cluster 3 Control Group.

Let me introduce you to one of them.

Meet Dinah.

Dinah and her female cohorts were Trachemys scripta scripta, yellow-bellied slider turtles, before their exposure to the ooze in 1976. In the (picrew-generated) concept art above, Dinah has been bundled up against the winter weather during her first stay at the farmhouse. Splinter covered her head initially for warmth, but as she settled in, she added a scarf over her knit cap. She feels safest and most comfortable when covered. This is no religious or modesty-based habit. Rather, blankets, covers, and towels were the best way to guarantee a small amount of privacy when growing up under surveillance. In the winter cold, her tendency to loop quilts, comforters, afghans, and scarves over herself seems rational. As the seasons change, the nervous habit will stand out more starkly.

So much of what makes Dinah act like Dinah has roots in the lab. Limited close-contact with humans, strictly regimented living, and an unyielding authority structure have molded a young woman whose goal in life is to BE A GOOD GIRL. She listens. She does what she's told. She follows the rules, and she's overly eager to please. Being GOOD keeps you and your sisters safe. Being GOOD means any punishments are mild. Being REALLY GOOD means special treats! Maybe half a banana. Maybe an extra hour in the enrichment room. Maybe even being allowed to file some paperwork.

Dinah's the best at filing. She's very proud of how fast she can be. She remembers everything very well. Everything. Ab-so-lute-ly. Ever-y-thing. Sometimes that's bad. There's so many things Dinah doesn't want to remember. But! Sometimes it's good. Her test scores are excellent and her filing is brilliant. Dr. Perry said so. She remembers that. Remembering when he said she was brilliant is definitely a good thing. Dr. Weston never said she was brilliant, but she did say Dinah did very good work many times. Dr. Nomikos? Well, no point in thinking about him. He rarely spoke to Dinah. Dr. Weston said that was a good thing...

The lab turtles' world is small and their isolation will distort their expectations and reactions to life outside. The girls in Cluster 3 Control will have relied upon each other for much of their socialization. It built a unique 'turtle culture' in the group; everything from a human-excluding hidden language to a quasi-spiritual belief about turtle afterlife. To say there will be culture-shock between the two groups of turtles is an understatement.

*((SIDE NOTE - MY INSECURITY RAMBLE:: I feel foolish for how embarrassed I get talking about these characters. Perhaps it is a hold over from being too ashamed as a kid to admit to my daydreamer's habit of conjuring up 4 matching turtle gals and giving them shorthand personalities that match the TMNT. I have doodles from approximately a million years ago of the OCs I made in middle school: the smart one, the funny one, the angry one, the leader. (I feel like we all do/did this? IDK, springtime of a youngster's heart: give the TMNT matching significant others. now kiss!) Anyways, as much as I enjoyed it at the time, I think I knew even then that my earliest OCs were halfbaked. So, if I have any motivating factor for writing these original characters well, it's the desperate need to present OCs that I'm proud of, with an origin story and characterization that makes readers love them as much as I do. I know I'm going out on a limb to say, "I've got girl turtles from a lab. Trust me! It'll be good!," but there is an anxious need in me for this fic to be incredible. I have a beta reader who's never steered me wrong and I promise I won't post on AO3 until my narrative and my characters pass muster! /END MY INSECURITY RAMBLE))

nimona opinion (spoilers btw and also this is a halfbaked opinion so if you want me to go more in depth im not going to)

its a very solid movie and i enjoyed it overall, but it rly doesnt have the Political Commentary i wanted it to. you know. (and i only say this because it teeters on the edge of real political commentary. i dont expect topics like that in kids movies lmao but they were the ones who wrote it in at several points) Basically, the movie goes out of it's way to criticize "the institute" & the powers it holds & the corruption within it and the oppression it creates. HOWEVER it really only does this in reference to Nimona as a character and to an extent Ballister. First of all, it's never really gone into depth how fucked up it is to have a class of elite descendants that are to be appointed knights and that "commoners" are NOT to be allowed or trusted with that task. the director literally plays on this distrust and classist bias, but the movie does not go into it AT ALL? it doesn't even address it after a certain part post Queen Death. Second, we have Nimona ranting and raving about the corruption of The Institute, but it doesn't go into how this institute affects anyone other than her. The Institute punishes those who are different, she says, but who else falls into the category of "different" to her? "Commoners", I guess. But again, really doesn't go into that at all after the first section of the movie! Secondly, several of the characters go on to realize the corruption and faults of "The Institute", but by the end of the movie.... Nothing changes? Presumably? The futuristic capitalistic society they live in is unchanged, for the most part. Knights still exist, maybe not in the absolute Absurd Way they used to, but they still exist. The massive political powers like the Queen and the Director have both died by the end of this film, but what does their society go onto do? If there is no Institute worshiping Gloreth, I guess there is no need for a new Director, but Queen is a completely different topic. You're telling me this societies beloved queen died, and their monarchal rule came to an end? Because, like, what? That's not really how that works. Not really brought up or discussed or insinuated. Queen died so no more monarchy. If only that was real life.... Finally, the society they live in seems very much unchanged. The ideals of The Institute (eg: the Knights appointed) are still existent in this society. However, now this society loves Nimona and doesn't think of her as a monster! So Institute good now, I guess. Institute Bad until the oppressed get treated equally, and there's no more problems that could arise or happen. I Guess. idk man. im not like the most politically literate person or whatever. but this shit is so half assed its like why even put it in in the first place. and yeah kids movie blahjblahblah, but there are ways to fix this that arent in your face saying COMMUNISM GOOD or whatever & that could easily be digestible for children.

anyway this is the biggest issue i had because its just a blind spot for a movie that seems to WANT to talk about politics in some way, its so half assed about it, i really dont get why they included it in the first place.

rest of the movie is cool though. have fun you guys. whatever
