Recommending fanfics (I): Complete Fanfics

I've been trying since yesterday to make an entry to recommend fanfics. In general I like to read fanfics x reader (or with the inclusion of reader) because I enjoy imagining that I am inside the story, however, you will see that there are some that I did not take them that way and even so I love them.

I hope you like it!

Part 1: Complete fanfics!

Énoument, by LadysDaze

(My hero academia) AO3

A fanfic about a girl whose gift is to travel through time... after a horrible death that is repeated over and over again.

As you can see, it wasn't a coincidence that I got hooked on TokRev, it was a matter of time, haha

However, despite the fact that the literary quality of this fanfic is unbeatable, what really sets it apart from the others is that it is written as an otome game. How do you hear it! It introduces us to the protagonist, her relationships with other characters, etc. in about fifteen introductory chapters and, from there, the author creates several possible paths for the romantic story that she wants to be born between her and the available boys (well, and girl!). So, as you can see, it's a very special reading in this world (at least I haven't found anything like it finished, at least), and that's why I recommend it.

Costumes and Romances, by Lisa_Lisa

(One Piece) AO3 and Wattpad

In this case, the story IS 100% ROMANTIC and focuses on a young woman with an impossible love for her boss who, in turn, falls in love with a man. A Cyrano-esque masochist, she helps him find true love while she develops, to her surprise, feelings for said boss's brother. A brother with dangerous businesses involved that, at times, colors this story with things more typical of a thriller... However, we also have tons of humor and a quite CANON vision of the One Piece characters within a simple work, but effective. And that's why I recommend it.

the eternal matinee (no more showings), by animepseud (multipurpose room)

This is one of the most recent fanfics I was able to read (because he was a bit plof in that sense) and, what a gem! The romance is present, sure, but not in a way that it could be in the previous work. What is important here is the evolution of both protagonists: on the one hand, Izuku Midoriya, who now that he is the number 1 hero sees that his life has been reduced to that, to be Deku, and cannot abandon his role under almost any circumstances, because people's expectations are at stake along with his own career. And on the other is the protagonist, a girl her age who hates heroes and is being harassed not only by some of them, but by a mysterious criminal who will reunite her with the male protagonist. The author is in charge of dedicating a chapter to each one so that we can see the perspective of both and how they treat their relationship until the end. A fanfic that hooks from the beginning and that, at least, I could not leave until I finished it. Highly recommended!

Sex is a learning, even for shitheads, by Bragi

(My hero academia) AO3 and Wattpad

This fanfic has always been one of my favorites and it couldn't be missing from the recommended list! And it is that we have the great Bakugo debating -as a good teenager- how to have relations for the first time with his girlfriend, a very nice and funny girl, who seems to be the only one capable of putting up with it, haha, and from there we will continue his discovery of sex and sexuality. An incredibly well-handled discovery, strangely realistic within its own context, and quite humorous, knowing how to get serious when it's convenient.

If you like series like Big Mouth, you definitely have to give it a try.

Echoes in the Darkness, by Marguaery

(Haikyuu!!) AO3

And finally within the complete fanfics, we have this marvel. A dark story full of gray characters within gangs and/or mafias that, as always, fight to be above others. Here the protagonist is a contract killer with a traumatic past and present from which she has given up trying to escape... At least until the young Tobio Kageyama crosses her life and things start to get even worse.

If you read "Echoes in the Darkness" rest assured that you will not find a story with fluff. There are activation warnings all over the place and if you're sensitive I really don't recommend it. But, yes, if you go inside, it is rare that you can forget it! Because it's worth every fucking second of your time. And the less you know why, the better it will taste once you finish it.

My username used to be raymiazaki

My blog has no main focus to any fandom, it’s mostly to whatever I am obsessed with at the time.

I mostly reblog and like posts on my blog and scream in the comment sections of people’s works when I have time 🌸💕😂

a/n: hi everyone, I'm sorry for a posting a week late! I’ve been really unmotivated as of late for personal stuff but also because I'm lowkey still a little bummed that my Bokuto fic (definitely totally am not plugging it rn - totally do not click the link, ahaha 🥺) didn’t do as well as I hoped it would. But no matter! Here is the Tendou insert, as promised! It’s not the best, and I definitely have a bit of writers block and am behind schedule. I wish I could write his character and for him better considering how much I love him. Next will up be flattykawa 😌 and I will be posting it hopefully soon to help make up for last week’s missed post. I've also changed up this blog and have given it hopefully a better look - there is a new theme on desktop!

Warnings: part 3 spoilers for jojo’s bizarre adventure that include character death, my bb tori being insecure about him and his body but I love him and his flat a$$ so much, and as always, we clown on flattykawa in this household but all in good favor

It was a rainy day, and Tendou was quiet and content as he sat on your bed, reading the new Weekly Shonen Jump magazine that he had just been mailed. He had let Ushijima read it earlier - but as always, he only read the advertisements. You sat beside him on the floor, his long legs dangled off the edge of your bed, his foot brushing your arm every now and then. You were playing the new otome game you had bought a week ago on your console. On days like this, the two of you often fell into comfortable silences when hanging out with each other - and today was no different. There was nothing to do other than school work and go to practice - but even then, it wasn’t necessary for the third years to attend anymore. Not since they lost in the finals against Karasuno.

He was pulled away from the panel he was reading when he heard you gasp - his crimson eyes flitting to your monitor to see what had happened.

“What happened?” You turned around to look up at him, an excited look on your face.

“Murasame Jinnosuke confessed his love for me! I didn’t expect it to happen so fast into the game.” He looked back at the screen to see a handsome samurai on your screen. Snickering, Tendou ruffled your hair.

“Good job, now just see if you can get a real guy to confess his undying love for you.” Squinting at him, you slapped his leg playfully.

“You’re supposed to be nice to me, Tori-kun.”

“When am I not?”

Ever since you had taken the place of Shiratorizawa’s volleyball club manager two years ago as a first year, you quickly bonded with the strange amalgamation of players. It had been a running gag between the third year players to find out what type of guys you liked. You could always be found on your phone during breaks playing otome games - and that was the beginning of the years of playful torment from your fellow classmates.

It wasn’t that you weren’t attractive or that you didn’t gain attention - every Valentines Day you always received several confessions and chocolates, but you always rejected them as kindly as possible. For someone who played as many otome games as you did, they were surprised to say the least when you had always declined the advances of many classmates, saying that they just weren’t your type with a kind smile on your face.

It was Tendou’s turn to squint as he turned his attention back to your screen as you continued to play through the game. He scoffed at some of the things the fictional samurai said to you - what was so special about him anyways?

This is my idea of fun

Playing video games

Tendou shut his manga volume, and he noticed your curious eyes looking at the cover. Smirking playfully at you, he poked your forehead.

“Suddenly interested in pirates?” You sat back, rolling your eyes.

“Maybe. Who’s the character on the front?” He stared down at the covered, humming.

“Shanks. Say, I never thought you were one to go for a tough-looking guy.” He held a mischievous grin on his lips.

“Ha! Sure. Keep thinking that, Tendou.” He feigned a gasp.

“You used my last name too? With no honorific? No nickname? The rudeness! I’m so hurt!” You couldn’t help but egg your friend along.

“Hmm, maybe I should start watching One Piece if he’s in it…” But before Tendou could clap back, Yamagata slid into the seat next to you, a teasing smile on his lips.

“Ah, so that’s your type, huh? Tough-looking guys with scars?” You rolled your eyes at the libero. “I’m pretty tough too, aren’t I?”

“As if.” But it didn’t stop them from the teasing.

So what if you maybe did prefer more muscular guys? Tendou didn’t understand why the thought hurt his feelings so much. He may not have the bulging muscles, but he was just as strong. He sighed to himself, watching you from across the table as you shoved Yamagata playfully. Why would you want to like someone like himself anyways?

It's you, it's you, it's all for you

Everything I do

Tendou entered your dorm room unannounced as he always did - but this time he was surprised to see you in tears as you huddled in your blanket, staring at the tv. The first thing you usually did was banter with him about his bad habit of not knocking, but all he could do is stand shocked in your doorway.

Instantly, his gleeful eyes turned blood red. Shutting your door behind him, he quickly made his way over to you, his eyebrows furrowed, a scowl on his lips.

“Who do I have to beat up?” A million thoughts were running through his head - were you made fun of? Did someone reject you? Did you receive a bad score on an exam? He wrapped his arms around you the second your tear-filled eyes looked up at him.

“Who did it? Who hurt your feelings?” His genuine care and questions only made you cry harder into his chest.

“Dio.” You said, but it was too muffled for him to hear. Pulling back, he gave you a quizzical look. You pointed at the scene that was unfolding on your tv.

“Dio killed Kakyoin.” Tendou immediately smacked a hand to his face. His eyes flickered to the screen to see a tall, muscular character slumped against a water tower, a hole in his torso with text on the screen saying “Kakyoin Noriaki has died.” He couldn't help but laugh.

“You want me to beat up the mighty and powerful vampire lord and stand user, Dio Brando? For killing the guy who licks cherries weird?”

Slapping his arm, you pouted at him through your ugly tears. “Don’t make fun of me! I really liked him.” Tendou kept on snickering as he rubbed your back.

“I know, I’m sorry. But it’s just too funny to just not tease you.”

As ridiculous as it sounded, Tendou wondered if you would ever cry for him the way you cried for Kakyoin. He smiled to himself as he stared down at your face that was still buried in his chest - he hoped you wouldn’t notice how fast his heart was beating at the notion of you coming to him for comfort.

Maybe your type was animated men.

I tell you all the time

Tendou put his jump comic down and just watched your gameplay - he was too distracted by his thoughts of you to focus on the new chapter of My Hero Academia.

He couldn’t help but pine over you. You had been so open and kind to him from the first time you met him - he remembered that day with ease. You had looked so confident walking into the volleyball gym, introducing yourself to the players as their new manager.

He was genuinely surprised that you weren’t turned away by his quirks - and he was thankful that above all, you treated him just like you treated everyone else.

It seemed so easy for you to become friends with the other first years at the time. You found commonalities with each of them, and you even managed to break Ushijima out of his shell by the time you all first went to nationals. Tendou remembered the hours upon hours that the two of you spent together - whether it was hanging out in the dorm watching animes, giving him tips and encouragement on the court during timeouts, or quality conversations on long bus rides to and from games. If you had never joined as manager, Tendou would’ve never guessed that the two of you would become as close friends as you were now. And he had always been a good guesser.

As he stared at you, controller in your hand, he remembered why he realized he liked you so much - it wasn’t because you shared a strong love for manga and anime. Okay, well, maybe it was, but it wasn’t the commonality. It was because you understood and even empathized with escaping through these fictional stories.

He knew what it was like to want to escape - to want to find paradise away from everyday life. On the court, Tendou could sneak into the small slice of heaven that he visited when he played volleyball. Off the court, he wanted nothing more than to have you safe in his arms as the two of you escaped into the world of whatever show you had chosen to binge that day.

To him, you were just as heavenly as the defeated looks on his opponents’ faces that he craved to see - maybe even more.

I heard that you like the bad girls, honey, is that true?

You squealed excitedly as you waved the game in front of Semi’s face after practice had ended.

“Semi-semi! Look what just came in the mail!” He pushed your hand out of his face, scoffing.

“I can’t see it if you’re rubbing in my face like that, idiot.” The setter had a smile on his face nonetheless, making you laugh as he took a look at the game. His eyes widened.

“No way, Castlevania Judgement?!?!” You nodded proudly, smiling at Tendou and Ushijima as they walked over to see what the commotion was about. The middle blocker gawked at the game you held in your hands - the third years had been talking about the release of it for at least a few months now.

“You jealous? If you want, we can play after dinner.” Semi quickly nodded, and you looked at Tendou and Ushijima for their answers.

“What, when have I ever said no to wanting to play video games with you?” To his reply, the captain simply nodded.

“Thank you for your invite. I am happy to attend as well.”

Tendou and Ushijima sat on the edge of your bed as you and Semi sat in front of your tv, switching the controller after every chapter of the game. Ushijima had no interest in actually playing the game - and Tendou knew he would get a chance to play with you later. Semi was more excited for the game than he was anyways.

You couldn’t contain your excitement as you gushed over one of the main characters, Simon Belmont. From the looks of it, he was a powerful fighter - and Tendou sighed once again - he was super muscular and tough-looking too. You were too invested in the gameplay with Semi, that you weren’t paying attention to the conversation Tendou sparked with Ushijima.

“I don’t get what’s so special about him anyways.” The redhead had a pout on his face, his arms crossed. Ushijima was very aware of the middle blocker’s crush on you - his friend often coming to the captain for his advice. While Ushijima had almost no experience and knowledge at all in terms of dating, he was always observant of the people around him, and was very blunt.

“Tendou-kun, if you like them so much, it would just be better to ask. It is pointless to be jealous over every fictional character they like.” He couldn’t help but gawk at the monotonous tone and the serious look on his captain’s face.

“I’ll raise you a better one. It’s pointless to ask because their standards seem to be so high anyways.” Ushijima couldn’t help but stare at his friend.

“And why should that stop you? They’re not real.” Tendou sighed, exacerbated.

“I get it, I get it! I know they’re not just going to pop out from the screen or anything.”

“But?”

“But that doesn’t mean those aren’t their same standards to people they prefer in real life,” Tendou admitted, and Ushijima knew he hit the reason why. Tendou may be tall, but he was lean and lanky. The muscle he had was nowhere near that of any of the fictional guys you crushed on. What could you possibly want from someone way weaker - someone like him?

“They are not the type of person to go completely for the way someone’s body appears. If that were the case, they should’ve confessed their attraction to either myself or Yamagata by now, based on your logic. Besides, they told me they liked you.” Tendou couldn't help but roll his eyes, placing a hand over his heart.

“Wakatoshi-kun, you wound me. Of course they like me - they wouldn’t be my friend if they didn’t. Couldn't you at least sugar coat your advice sometimes?”

It's better than I ever even knew

They say that the world was built for two

Before the prefectural qualifiers in the fall, Shiratorizawa managed to snag a practice match with none other than Aoba Johsai. While there was clear tension throughout the entire time, the teams kept interactions outside the court lines as light-hearted as possible. Seijoh managed to snag victory during the first match, but Shiratorizawa hit back just as hard, winning the second match.

The boys were currently loading their bags into the bus as you supervised them, reminding them to triple check that they had everything. You were almost caught by surprise when a volleyball rolled towards you, hitting the back of your foot gently.

“Sumimasen.” You heard from several meters behind you, making you turn around. It was the Great King himself, Oikawa Tooru, that was slowly jogging towards you - it almost seemed like he was doing it in slow motion. Your fellow teammates heard the setter, their eyes sneakily following him as he got closer to you. They couldn't help but snicker at their so-called sworn enemy - it was obvious by the way that his aura sparkled around him and the smoulder on his face that he had rolled the ball your way to get your attention.

“I’m so sorry, could you get that for me?” You nodded, a polite smile on your face. The great Oikawa was definitely handsome, to say the least - and Tendou couldn't help the childish frown that filled his features. As you picked up the ball and handed it back to the setter, he flashed you a heart-stopping, pearly white smile.

“Thank you,” he said, taking the ball from you, brushing your fingers in the process. “You are the manager for Shiratorizawa, right? I didn’t catch your name earlier.” Oikawa ran a hand through his silky hair as you gave him your name.

“Wow,” he flashed you another smile, “such a beautiful name for someone just as gorgeous.” Semi couldn’t help but let a snort out at Oikawa’s compliment.

“Thank you.” You took the complement in stride, deciding it would be nice to say something back. “You played great today, Oikawa-san.” He laughed jovially.

“Thank you, you’re very kind. And cute. Would you be interested in catching boba with me sometime? I know a cute place that has good milk tea and milk bread.” Tendou rolled his eyes at Oikawa’s words. It probably was his plan all along - to try to bewitch the manager of Shiratorizawa. When Tendou saw a smile grow on your face, he couldn’t help but feel defeated. Were you actually going to say yes to him?

“I’m very flattered Oikawa-san. But I’m sorry, I must decline your offer.” Oikawa’s eyes widened in surprise. The Great King? Being rejected? “You’re not really my type.” You turned around, making your way onto the bus, leaving Oikawa with his jaw on the ground, the ace on Seijoh’s team as well as your teammates laughing their asses off at the scene that had just unfolded in front of their very eyes.

“That’s what you get, Crappykawa! You should’ve gone to Shiratorizawa!”

“Iwa-chan, that's not funny! I feel like my heart has been broken into thousands of pieces!”

“Well, if they’re gonna hit it, they better hit it til it breaks!”

“Pfft, I’m actually not surprised they didn’t say yes to him.” Semi commented, placing his duffle bag into the storage compartment. Tendou’s head quirked at the statement.

“Why’s that?” Reon asked, storing his things as well, making Semi and Yamagata snicker.

“Did you see how flat his ass was? I’m 100% sure their type is thicker guys. Like their ace, or something.” The three of them burst into laughter, Tendou only slightly laughing along as well. Ushijima only grunted in disagreement as he shut the compartment’s door.

“I believe their type is actually redheads.” All of the third years looked at their captain with wide eyes and dead silence - before laughing even harder. Semi slapped Ushijima’s bicep lightly, bending over. Tendou’s eyes widened - Ushijima was not the type to joke around, right?

“I didn’t think you actually knew how to crack jokes, Ushijima-kun!” The olive-haired man only looked down at his fellow third years in confusion.

“I am not joking. I simply just decided to ask them earlier, and I am only relaying the answer they gave me.” They couldn’t help but bend over, Yamagata even wiping tears from all the laughing.

“Stop! Your bluntness is only making it worse!” By the way the rest of his teammates reacted, Tendou believed Ushijima really must have been joking - in his own way. He had just picked a hair color different from Oikawa’s, right?

“Good one, Wakatoshi-kun.” Tendou let out a chuckle, giving his friend a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

Only worth living if somebody is loving you

And baby, now you do

Tendou’s eyes widened as he relieved all the memories. Was Ushijima actually serious? He had never asked his friend about it - but perhaps it was because he was too scared to actually know the truth. Quickly, Tendou pulled out his phone and googled each of the characters - Shanks, Kakyoin, and Simon. The samurai was still on your screen, and he flipped through the tabs on his internet browser, trying to find the similarities.

Obviously, they were all built rather strong - but Tendou couldn’t get what Ushijima said out of his head. They were all redheads, after all. Why hadn’t he noticed this before? He looked back at you, your attention still on the otome game. Should he ask you? Would it be weird? Tendou thought about texting Ushijima, but he quickly decided not to. He already knew what his friend would say. Right after he called your name gently, you set down the controller and turned to look up at him.

“What’s up, Tori-kun?” He had never felt this nervous before - it wasn’t even like he was going to confess to you or anything either.

“Uh - what’s your type? Like, in guys? I promise I won’t tease you this time, I just want to know.” Surprisingly, you smirked at him. What were you thinking?

“You gonna brag to Eita and Yato that you finally found out after all these years?” The apparent blush on Tendou’s cheeks only spread further.

“What? No, I wouldn’t do that… Unless I had to,” he said, trying his best to come off as his usual teasing self. This only made you snicker at him.

“I’m surprised you guys haven’t beat it out of Toshi-kun yet. I already told him a few months ago.” Tendou’s eyes widened at what you said.

“Huh?” You rolled your eyes at him.

“Yeah.” He couldn’t believe how casual you were about it. You were always so hellbent on keeping it from them - but perhaps it was because they made such a big deal out of it in the first place. Tendou didn’t exactly know how to respond to you - he was still trying to process the realization. So he had guessed wrong this whole time?

After sitting in silence for a couple of seconds, you gave him a playful smile. “Redheads,” you said, turning around and picking up your controller. Ushijima’s words echoed with yours in his brain.

Besides, they told me they liked you. Tendou let out a choked noise.

“I’ve made a mistake!”

You burst out laughing at Tendou’s exclamation. Setting your controller down once more, you stood up and turned, leaning your elbows against your bed. “You guys really are that oblivious, huh? Even Toshi-kun saw that I liked you. He went so far as to ask me about it too.” You propped up your head with your hand, staring at him. Getting past his initial shock, Tendou settled back down.

“How shallow of you,” he teased, leaning his head closer to yours. “I can’t believe the only reason why you like me is because my hair is red, yanno?” In return, you inched your face up closer to his as if you were challenging him.

“I know,” you said smugly, your eyes flickering down to his lips, “I’m such an awful friend. I’ll only break your heart once I replace you with another redhead.” He smirked as he noticed where your eyes had glanced. Tendou may have been oblivious, but he wasn’t called the Guess Monster for nothing.

“I’m guessing that you want to kiss me right now, hmm?” He asked quietly, dangerously moving closer to you - your faces now only mere inches apart. A blush crept onto both of your cheeks. You answered back, your voice nearly a whisper.

“Why don’t you find out for yourself, Guess Monster?”

Immediately, Tendou closed the distance between the two of you. Your lips were warm and soft, making him wish he had at least put on chapstick earlier. His heart was beating so hard inside of his chest that he was afraid you’d hear it, but you said nothing as the two of you pulled away. Saying nothing, he only smiled as he traced his fingers up your neck, cupping your jaw. Pulling you into a deeper kiss, he sighed contentedly as he felt your hands trail up his torso.

Kissing you felt like paradise.

The following day, Tendou met you at your door to walk with you to lunch. With your hand in his, the two of you took your sweet time making your way to the cafeteria to meet up with the other third years. Today, Coach Washijo had asked for them to play a practice match against the Miyagi first years he was holding a training camp for. You decided to tag along since you had nothing planned to do for the weekend.

As you talked about a weird dream you had, Tendou couldn’t help but gaze adoringly at you - he couldn’t believe that you liked him, or that you were actually dating him now even if it had only been about twelve hours. The two of you waited in the lunch line, his chin resting on top of your head as he held both of your hands from behind you - it felt so natural to touch you. He could tell that people were staring - but none of it mattered when all he needed was the sound of your excited voice and the blatant look of love in your eyes.

Stepping away from your back slightly, he moved forward to gently place a kiss on your cheek - and that's when he heard the yells. The both of you turned to find your fellow third and second years staring at the two of you with wide eyes and mouths catching flies. Goshiki accompanied the team as well, his face beat red. Ushijima was behind the flustered first year, a rare half-smile on his face.

“Afternoon guys!” You had said it so casually as you leaned back into Tendou’s arms, allowing him to place a cheeky kiss on your temple - making Semi gag and Yamagata nearly tear up.

“I did tell you all that they preferred redheads.”

boxer au. bakugou is a young pro boxer climbing his way to the top of the charts. one day, his friends kirishima and ashido invite you to a match. unbeknownst to you, you end up accidentally distracting katsuki during a fight and he gets a punch landed on his face.

you ask bakugou out on a picnic date to the park, but he thinks you’re challenging him to a fight. you can’t tell who is more confused when the day finally comes.

What’s been going on

You know how when you cook macaroni and you put the water on and it gets to a rolling boil and then you throw the macaroni's in and they sorta swirl around like they're trying to reinvent New Wave dancing? That's basically what my mind has been feeling like lately. So it's time for another round of 'Help a writer out'. Please?

Context:

In two weeks, I have an honest to god vacation. Three weeks that are going to be filled with adulting, and Netflix and a stack of unfinished video games and, because I am a masochist: writing.

My brain, excitable little puppy that it is, has been bombarding me with Ideas in anticipation.

So.

Knowing from experience that I do some of my best fanfic work when I'm not permanently exhausted (an unpleasant side effect of my job), what I'm looking for is guidance. What do you want me to focus on? Which one of these would you like to read? (please note that many of these will get written eventually, tho I can’t promise they’ll all happen. I did something similar last year and ended up finishing 4 out of 6. That’s about where we’re at)

So, tell me what to write. (yes I know there's two Shinsous here. Shush. Boy needs love)

BNHA - The fluffy Shinsou: A super indulgent reader insert featuring !hero Shinsou and the owner of a cat café. Lots of shenanigans, tons of cats and a fairly mild crime plot. Post-canon. Ungendered reader. T-rating.

BNHA - The 90's Shinsou: Basically, make me work on Deliverance. This is an episodic urban fantasy AU set in the 90's, with an overarching character development arc. In short: Shinsou starts out as a broke AF, super sad student and gradually gains friends and confidence (and moneys) as he takes a job as a delivery boy for a shipping company with some very specialized cargo.Pretty angsty? Rated M for Tokoyami x Shinsou and possible future Midoriya x Shinsou.

Haikyuu - The DaiSuga: Another one that already exists but needs a lot more work. Suga gets pulled into a plot to break a deadly curse and instead ends up with Daichi, who is mildly confused by the modern world. Fish out of water, slice of life romance with a side order of urban fantasy because I can't friggin write normal stuff. Also a continuation of the Godbook series.

Natsume Yuujinchou - The Otome: My big challenge for this year. A miniature choose-your-own-adventure written in the style of reader insert dating games. Routes range from innocent over romantic to, uh, very kinky. The idea comes from wanting to write an otome where the reader really gets control over how far they wish to go (so choices will get clear NSFW tags when applicable). Think more Cybird and Cute Demon Crashers, and less Mystic Messenger or Amnesia: Memories (shudder). Romance options (currently) for Natori Shuuichi and Matoba Seiji (yes, we’re going there)

My personal list of anime to watch, I need to lower the number of simulcasts I watch each season because otherwise I get completely off track and end up never finishing series due to my wanting to prioritize others. “Hinata, is that you?!”

The owner of the familiar mop of orange hair screeched to a stop on his bicycle. Turning around, Hinata’s chocolate eyes widened in pleasant surprise when they landed upon your approaching figure. He hopped off his bike with a smile, walked it onto the sidewalk, and nudged its kickstand with his foot.

“Y/n! I haven’t seen you for a week!” he replied enthusiastically as he outstretched his arms, ready to envelope you in an inviting hug. You offered him a warm smile as you gently pressed into his chest instead, unable to wrap your arms around him because of the books occupying them.

Separating, you asked, “Where are you headed? I just finished class for the day!”

“You did? Great! I’m heading out to see a friend and grab some lunch! Do you like steamed buns?”

“Um, yeah, they’re pretty good! Why?”

“You should come along. I’ll introduce you!”

Feeling a sudden rush of bashfulness, you unconsciously rubbed your toes into the pavement. “I’d love to, but are you sure they won’t mind? I don’t want to intrude or anything--”

A short squeak from your throat cut you off as Hinata shoved a helmet onto your head and fastened its strap under your chin. “Nah, of course not! And you’ll need this helmet; safety first! Here, let me take your books,” he spoke animatedly, taking your books and putting them in his own pack. He slung it back onto his shoulders and mounted his bike, then looked at you expectantly.

Shifting the lopsided helmet on your head, you met his gaze with a confused look. “Um, is something wrong? And why am I wearing your helmet?”

Chuckling, he rolled his eyes and shook his head. “Nah, nothing’s wrong. C’mon, I’m late already and my friend’s impatient! We’re going to lunch!”

“Y-You want me to get on?”

“Yeah! Like, stand on the thingy that juts out of the wheel and hold onto my shoulders.”

“Isn’t that, uh, dangerous? Especially on the street?” You wanted to trust him. You really did.

With a hand over his heart, he vowed, “I, Shoyo Hinata, promise to keep y/n safe on our journey to The Bao House.”

Despite your uneasiness, you found yourself perched on the rear end of his bicycle. It took another few moments for you to balance yourself and secure your grip around his shoulders. “Are you sure about this?” you asked him hesitantly, looking down again at your feet to make sure they were positioned well.

He glanced back at you, smiling. “Of course! I do this all the time. You ready?”

Sighing, you shrugged. This wasn’t the worst decision you’ve made in your life before. “As I’ll ever be. Let’s go!”

At your cue, he trudged forward slowly, the bike wobbling slightly as he adjusted to pedaling with an additional passenger in the back.

“W-Woah, Hinata, c-careful..!” you yelped, leaning down to fasten your hold on your friend.

“Don’t worry, I got you!” he exclaimed. Laughing, he began to speed down the bike lane. Despite the close calls from nearby cars and the occasional jostle from a small bump in the road, you remained relatively surprisingly steady. You risked raising your head up, taking in the sights you rushed past.

“That’s where I practice volleyball!” he called out as a large, grey building passed on your right side. “They’ve got big courts and all sorts of other sports arenas inside! We’ve got a game starting in two weeks, actually!”

When you were finally able to get off the bike, your feet hurt from the pressure of the metal bars. You were relieved to be back on the ground, though, alive and uninjured. Taking off the helmet, you examined its unicorn and fairy stickers with amusement.

“Nice stickers,” you teased. He snatched the pink helmet from you, blushing, then fastened it to his bicycle.

“It’s supposed to be my little sister’s but it’s too big for her,” he grumbled. Waiting for Hinata to lock up his bike on a nearby rack, you then followed him inside the small restaurant. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the setting.

“There!” he pointed. Your gaze followed his finger, settling on a person sitting at a booth in the corner. They were holding up a menu, leaving only their dark hair visible behind menu pictures of white, fluffy baos. Hinata eagerly bounded over to his friend, yelling “BAKAGEYAMAAA!” and causing the figure to jolt up in their seat. Angry at the surprise outburst, the dark haired boy stood up and whacked Hinata with the menu, and the two began to bicker. Only when he noticed you standing awkwardly in front of the two, as well as the weird looks from the other customers, did he stop, clear his throat, and slide back into his seat.

"Stop being an idiot and making me act out,” he snapped at Hinata, who looked at him in shock as he defended himself.

“Your actions are your own doing!” Hinata retaliated. With a huff, he turned away from his friend and focused his attention back on you. Scratching the back of his head, he apologized. “I’m sorry about my friend.” He took a second to stick out his tongue at the boy. “This is Tobio Kageyama, but you can call him Bakageyama, or Yamayama, or--”

Blushing, Kageyama cut him off with a jab of his elbow. “They get it,” he muttered, warning Hinata with a piercing glare. Then his eyes flickered towards you. Judging by the look he was giving you, you expected him to say something; yet only silence accompanied his intense blue gaze. Then, his lips started to twitch and his left eye crinkled slightly.

You were about to introduce yourself and save this boy from further embarrassment when Hinata began to snicker, poking Kageyama in the side. “Why’re you so awkward huh are you tryna smile just introduce yourself--”

‘So that twitching... Was him trying to smile?’

His blush deepened at Hinata’s taunts. Before he could lash back, however, you extended a hand and flashed him an upward curl of your lips. “I’m y/n, Hinata’s friend. He asked me to come, so I hope you don’t mind me being here. I’d like to get to know you more, Kageyama, it’s nice to meet you!”

He paused to stare at your outstretched hand in surprise, blinking, then quickly shook it after he processed your introduction. “Ah, don’t worry, I don’t mind you being here. It’s nice to meet you, too, y/n.”

“Now we can all be friends~” Hinata rejoiced. “I call sitting next to y/n!”

Throughout lunch, Kageyama seemed to relax more as you joked around with Hinata. Their friendship was cute, you thought, and you were glad to see him look comfortable in your presence. Maybe you were overthinking, but you also couldn’t help but notice the furtive glances he cast your way every so often.

After you each split the bill, Kageyama checked the time on his phone. “I gotta go or else I’ll be late to class. I’ll see you both around.”

Once he gathered his belongings and stood up to leave, a more natural smile formed on his lips as he bid you goodbye. He was out the door in the next few seconds. A high-pitched ding caught your attention, and you looked over at Hinata, who was typing away on his phone with a smirk on his lips.

“What?” you asked him when his brown eyes glittered at you with a hint of mischief. Then, you felt a vibration in the pocket of your jacket. Pulling out your phone, you saw a message from an unknown number.

‘Hey y/n. This is Kageyama. I forgot to ask you before I left so I asked Hinata for your number, yknow, for reference.’

‘Huh. He could’ve come back in real quick to ask. Then again, he was rushing to get to class, so...’

You glanced back up at your friend and raised an eyebrow at him. “Okay, you gave him my number. That’s totally fine, so why are you looking at me like that?”

He shrugged nonchalantly, his eyes avoiding your interrogating look. “Oh, no reason. Say, you want to come to our volleyball game in two weeks? Kageyama and I are actually on the same team! It’s 12PM Saturday at the place we passed by earlier. Be there or be square.”

Smiling, you rolled your eyes. “Oh, I’ll be there.”

On the commute home, you suddenly remembered you haven’t responded to Kageyama. You whipped out your phone and typed out a reply.

‘Hey Kageyama! That’s totally fine. Btw, I’m coming to your game, I’ll c u there 😁’

You hit send, unable to make sense of the tingle you felt in your chest. You chose to shrug it off. Probably just excited to meet up with your new friends.

However, another ding of your phone and your heart was set aflutter.

‘Oh, cool, I’ll see you then’

‘Glad Hinata made friends with someone who’s not as annoying as him’

You didn’t think you’d be messaging him well after you arrived home, nor did he think he would be texting you throughout his 2-hour lecture. Not that either of you minded, though.

Ok, let’s go by alphabetic order I guess? (I know… picking faves is not my thing. I just have too many)

& - josei/slice of life. this one is just very interesting, and as a young adult I find this very relatable.Again!! - SAME AUTHOR AS YURI ON ICE. And so very good. Please read it. It’s a friggin masterpiece. Gwahhh. It’s unique and it gets better and better and the characters are becoming more and more lovely and the plot tangles and tangles and twists…Akagami no Shirayukihime - shoujo/historical/fantasy. Shirayuki is a very interesting main lead, and the story is not progressing centered around love, but the motivations and ambitions of the main character (also it has Obi.)Akatsuki no Yona - shoujo/historical/fantasy. this one seemed very cliché to me to start, but was a very pleasant surprise. Yona’s character development is A+Ansatsu Kyoushitsu - shounen. A masterpiece.Boku no Hero Academia - shounen/superhero. now with the popularity of the anime, I’m sure I don’t need to introduce this.Bus Hashiru.- and everything else from Sahara Mizu/Yumeka Sumomo. All of them are perfect.Cat Street - shoujo. Not that very special, but the endgame.Chihayafuru - shoujo. DAMN. THIS. I LOVE IT.Doukyuusei - shounen ai. A masterpiece.Ebisu-san to Hotei-san - shoujo ai. Very nice.Endou-kun no Kansatsu Nikki - shounen ai. Perfect. Just sooo… perfect.Fujishiro-san-kei. - shoujo/slice of life. Adorable.Game Over - josei. Adorable age gap romance, short, lovely.Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - comedy/4-koma. Pure golden.Haikyuu!! - shounen. THE sports manga. Perfection.Hajimari no Niina - shoujo. The beginning of this made me cry. It kinda has a one volume story, then a continuation that’s rather… well. Still good.Haru x Kiyo - shoujo. Funny, interesting and original. A much better take on the topic, compared to Lovely complex.Hatsu*Haru - shoujo. This one has the guy as the main lead, and it’s just so funny and dorky and adorable. Sometimes it annoys me though… :/ but mostly good.Hirunaka no Ryuusei - shoujo. It will forever hurt.Horimiya - I don’t even know whether this is a shoujo or not. Cute.Jackass! - yaoi. Scarlet Beriko is my goddess. All of her mangas are gems, but this one, this one is A FUCKIN DIAMOND. Sooo good. Gwahhhhhhh.Kimi wa Pet - josei. I love this.Koe no Katachi - uhhhh. UHHHHH. the feels.Koi wa Ameagari no You ni - seinen. A very good, healthy and heart-warming take on age gap romance. The main characters are very interesting and the plot never feels forced.Kono Oto Tomare! - school club manga. It’s about a traditional music club, very interesting.Kuragehime - josei. SO GOOD. Kuranosuke is the sexiest man I’ve ever seen in manga. And also the prettiest girl.Mizutama Honey Boy - comedy. This is a very funny and delightful take on fuck-the-gender-roles type romance(?) story.My Girl - already said that Sahara Mizu/Yumeka Sumomo is perfection but let me put this here separately because THIS WAS SO GOOD.My Heart Is Beating - this one is more psychological. I liked it a lot.Nickelodeon - this one is wicked.Orange - shoujo. The anime was too… shoujo-esque for me. And honestly? I don’t like the main girl. Or emo boy. But Suwa makes up for it. Suwa makes up for everything. Also the final solution for the time travel / timeline thing is a very interesting and intriguing one from a writer’s point of view. Absolutely loved it.Seishun Otome Banchou! - shoujo. This one is so… pure? I love it.Sensei Kunshu - shoujo. The perfect teacher-student romance manga, it’s absurd and no-nonsense at the same time. Sensei is awesome.Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso - MUCH BETTER THAN THE ANIME. (I just can’t stand the artsy-fartsy)Shishunki Bitter Change - body swap. This one is very interesting, takes the body swap trope to a new level.Slow Starter - shounen ai. UHHH. Such an adorable and lovely story. I’m so weak.Sonna Me de Mitekure - shounen ai/comedy. This made me cry (from laughter). Perfect. That very last extra chapter was uncalled for.Stella to Mille Feuille - shoujo. Cuuute.Strobe Edge - shoujo. Cute. Kind of the starting point for Sakisaka Io.Taiyou no Ie - shoujo. Loved it. ALSO THERE IS TURTLE.Takane to Hana - BEST. SHOUJO. MANGA. EVER. DRAWN. AND. WRITTEN. SO. GOOD. GREAT. CHARACTERS. FUCKIN. TAKANE. HANA. IS. THE. BEST. FEMALE. PROTAG. IN. A. SHOUJO. MANGA. EVER. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.Tokyo Crazy Paradise - this one is old and ugly as fuck and very stupid but I really enjoyed it.Tokyo Tarareba Musume - josei. This one hurts. It kicks you where it hurts the most. BUT IT HURTS SO GOOD. It really gives me with heartache every update.Tomodachi no Hanashi - shoujo. Very nice.Yajirobee - shoujo/slice of life. A masterpiece.Yumemiru Taiyou - shoujo. ZEEEEN. So yeah. It’s the co-habitation trope, very nice and cute, a bit longer than it should be. Zen is so perfect. Also always tired/done police kid owns my heart.So… I might have gone overboard, and I didn’t even include all my shoune ai faves (because I always forget to track them).

It was only the first day of class and already you could feel exhaustion seeping into your muscles. Although you had fun, perhaps touring the city as much as you could in 5 days wasn’t the best idea. After you finished unpacking, which only took up a day thanks to the help of your neighbors, Yamaguchi had offered to show you his and Tsukishima’s favorite city sights. You couldn’t just say no when presented the chance to explore your new home, get closer to your new friends, and maybe see Tsukishima loosen up a little. Apparently there was a lot to see because each night you three came back to the townhouse past midnight, and after parting ways, you had only enough energy to plop into bed, outside clothes still on, and pass out until morning. Then the cycle repeated.

You were lucky that in both your lectures so far, the professor simply introduced themselves, went over the syllabus, and dismissed class early. You took a mental note to be more strategic about exiting unless you wanted to fight your way through a sea of students after every class, but for now you were just relieved to be outside the stuffy classroom.

Still unfamiliar with campus, you wandered until you found yourself seated on a wooden bench within a community garden. Grateful you had found a relaxing space to rest before your final class of the day, you took out last night’s leftover pasta from the Italian restaurant you visited and dipped a fork into your lunch.

Mid-chew, a soft mewl caught your ear. You gulped and took a glance around your surroundings. Eyes narrowing in confusion, you wondered, ‘Maybe I’m just hearing things?’

But then you heard it again, slightly louder. Curious, you set down your tupperware and stood up to investigate. You searched the enclosure, kneeling down to the ground every so often to scan the bushes for any signs of a potential furry friend. Still nothing. With a sigh, you got back onto your feet and brushed the dirt off your pants.‘Maybe they went away.’

However, you noticed a small wooden shed, presumably a garden supply closet, standing right outside the enclosure. You approached it cautiously. If there happened to be an animal nearby, the last thing you wanted to do was scare them away.

You stopped in your tracks when you heard a soft chuckle.

“Hey, there, little guy,” a mysterious voice spoke soothingly. “How’s it going?”

On the other side, a boy with light brown hair sat cross-legged with his back against the wooden toolshed. The back of his outstretched hand gingerly pet a grey tabby, who purred and rubbed its cheeks against his fingers. His chocolate gaze glimmered with amusement when the cat started playfully batting at a red keychain dangling from his backpack.

The cat climbed onto him. Leaping across his lap, its fluffy tail brushed against the male’s slightly open mouth. His face scrunched in disgust, and he sputtered in attempts to spit out stray strands of fur that stuck to his tongue. He wiped an arm across his mouth as an extra measure.

“Ugh, give me a warning next time, okay?” he chided, scratching the cat behind its ears.

You couldn’t stifle a soft snicker. Caught off guard, the boy stiffened and the cat dashed away, disappearing behind the opposite side of the shed.

Embarrassed and guilty for eavesdropping, you raised your hands in front of your face and spoke frantically, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt or scare your friend!”

‘Great, now you just look like a creep!’ you thought self-consciously as you took a sudden step back. A yelp escaped your throat when you felt the heel of your feet stoop lower than expected, and you stumbled back.

Though you braced yourself for impact, a quick tug of your arm catapulted you into the boy’s chest. He stepped back and placed his hands on your shoulders in an effort to regain balance. You stood in front of him, a mixture of shock and mortification evident on your red, open-mouthed face. He breathed out in exasperated relief, releasing the rush adrenaline pent up from the last several seconds. Finally settling his gaze on you, a faint rosy tinge dusted his cheeks and he released your shoulders.

He cleared his throat with a fist to his lips. “Ah, geez, watch where you’re going,” he chastised, pointing at the gaping indent in the grass behind you. “That hole’s a bit too big to go unnoticed.”

Your mind blanked. How humiliating was it to be caught staring then almost fall on your dumb ass if it wasn’t for this person’s mad reflexes.

Unable to think clearly, your words tumbled out. “Oh, hah, I guess you’re right! And, uh, thank you for catching me, by the way! You moved really fast, I was surprised, ahaha but really, I appreciate it! Especially after I was kinda standing here like a creep, you know, but it’s not like that..! I swear I don’t have stalker-ish tendencies, I was just having lunch and I thought I heard a cat and wanted to check it out, so I came here and found you, and uh, yeah!”

Heart racing in the midst of awkward silence, your eyes darted around and sought refuge upon the aging bark of a nearby tree. You would give anything to grab a shovel from the toolshed and dig yourself a hole, saying a friendly goodbye to the boy before you buried yourself alive in the dirt.

“You could’ve just said hi in the beginning, you know,” he responded with an amused, arched brow. Extending his hand, he said, “Morisuke Yaku. I go by Yaku. Nice to meet you, uh...”

“Y/n!” you blurted out, relief overwhelming your senses. “I-I’m y/n, it’s nice to meet you, too,” you shook his hand, hoping he’d ignore the nervous warmth of your palm. “Sorry again for scaring away the cat.”

He shrugged. “Don’t worry about it. Natsu always comes back. I usually come by around this time to give her some food.”

Kneeling down to look inside his pack, he pulled out a can of wet cat food. The mere pop of the can was enough for the grey tabby to come bounding back excitedly. Yaku smiled and set the food on the ground, giving Natsu a gentle stroke along her back. Glancing up at you, he offered, “Do you want to pet her? She’s really friendly.”

Your eyes lit up in pleasant surprise as you nodded. “Sure!”
