going Insane thinking about how Hades and Persephone are staged during Chaint I.... how she starts out all disgusted and not letting him touch her but as he keeps telling her about how much he loves her she gradually melts and allows him to take her hand and it seems okay and then BAM THE GOOOOODS HAVE FORGOTTEN THE SONG OF THEIR LOVE!!! and she JERKS AWAY and they are lowkey both shocked and his words become cruel while still singing the same melody he used for his adoration as she gives him that look of queenly disdain..... but then Eurydice appears and both gods focus on her and Persephone’s face falls in genuine worry and she doesn’t take her eyes off Eurydice until the moment she is gone offstage. Insane I’m telling you

Ω PJO DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: ☀ APOLLO: God of Archery, Art, Music, & Poetry, Prophecy, Light & Sun, Healing & Plagues, Truth 🎶
author's note: I had a sudden idea about writing some headcanons Camp Halfblood demigods being claimed and what it's like for each respective god and cabin, followed by a small blurb afterwards. Thank you for reading and please like and reblog! The order is not in order of the cabin numbers. [PJO DEMIGOD HEADCANONS MASTERLIST]
When you get claimed, you're graced with a light haloing over you. It's so bright yet soft. You also feel warm but you somehow feel like its a warm hug and its Apollo secretly giving you a hug.
The Apollo cabin welcomes you happily and they all gather around, singing you a welcome song. Some of them break out into an Acapella, while some whip out their instruments out of thin air. You find yourself at least humming to the song and maybe even singing along, the words just coming to you naturally.
You’re shown the sleeping quarters that are nice and warm, and when you press your nose against them, you can smell the sun on them.
You’re also shown the ropes of the place, but most importantly where they treat the sick and injured. As children of Apollo, your natural gifts are used almost daily. If you’re not that hyped about seeing blood or the like, you’re moved away from the rotation and help out with other things: changing sheets, disinfecting, checking stock and getting stock, and so forth.
You’re still required to learn how to do First Aid though. Even if your godly parent is the god of Healing, you’re still going to have to learn how to do the mundane medical methods. Better learn how to do proper CPR just in case. Sure, you could heal any damages but it's better not let it happen anyway.
You just have candy in your pockets. You might think its odd but when you see a small camper hurt their knee and one of your siblings whip out a lollipop after patching it up, you realise you’re not just there to soothe physical wounds.
Plus, you have candy. What’s not to love?
Though, speaking of Candy, you didn’t know you had to help out in sorting candy and inspecting it. Especially any red candy or specific dyes used in them. You learn immediately that once ago, there was a period of time that the campers acted very intensely, and after an intense lava wall incident and an almost burnt down pegasus stall, it was discovered that some people had consumed certain candies containing Red dye 40 and was affecting the ADHD.
The Apollo cabin is the place to be for entertainment. There’s constantly music and art being produced. There are even beat poetry nights.
So many rap battles.
The Apollo cabin often has collaborative efforts with the Hephatesus Athena,Dionysus cabin. There’s always some big project happening and it’s always a treat.
Hamilition. Cats. Hadestown. Heathers. Highschool Musical- all the broadway shows and musicals you can think of, the Apollo cabin have it down pat. Along with the Dionysus cabin, you just perform and break out in song. Eventually Mr. D and Chiron let you guys perform actual broadway musicals or general theatre because there were too many impromptu moments that broke through the entire camp. No one has recovered from the D's (Mr. D, the Dionysus, and Demeter cabin) and the Giant Strawberry incident.
When you get claimed, light envelops you with a soft mysterious song playing. It was warm and you swore you could imagine arms hugging you lovingly. You’d imagine Apollo used the claim to at least give his children a hug. You hugged back and you felt the faintest squeeze back. Before you could dwell on it later, the light disappears leaving a faint glow on your skin.
The song you had heard had also drifted off as well, but it had spoken to your soul. Like it had been chosen for you. You saw a bunch of other campers stand around and begin going into verse, a choir of campers singing a song before you realized it was the same song from before. More and more people began to join in, singing in acapella, instruments being played, and people clapping along for the beat. You watched in excitement and you felt their music resonate with you, it went through your body, up your throat and before you knew it, you were singing along, leading it.
When the song came to an end, the singers cheered and clapped before you saw a boy with curly blonde hair step up, giving you a beaming smile. You thought he looked like a golden retriever.
“Hi! You definitely have the chords of a child of Apollo” he complimented, holding out his hand. You took his hand as you shook, “My name is Will Solace, and I’m the cabin leader of Cabin 7. Welcome to the Apollo cabin!”

the taste of nectar
— but the heart of a man is a simple one. small and soft, flesh and blood.
— alhaitham x gn!reader
— author's notes: title and the quote are from epic iii from the hadestown live album
Tumblr media
While Sumeru is known for its variety of lush flora and fauna, perhaps it could be better said that Sumeru is known for the Akademiya’s cutthroat academic environment.
In the midst of the unrest after the removal of the sages, Alhaitham has had his fair share of work. Work that he certainly hadn’t signed up for when he accepted the job of Scribe all those years ago.
(I mean the entire point of him accepting that role was to live a cushy life. Who in the world would take being the Acting Grand Sage over that?)
The never-ending stack of papers on his desk somehow seemed to double the past week, though it’s surprisingly less work than when he was the Acting Grand Sage.
But as the sun sets, and the work day is over, he finds himself on a path that leads to the outskirts of Sumeru City.
His footsteps were a concrete rhythm he had grown familiar with over the years. With each step, the hubbub of the city turned into the birds’ chirping, the smell of food and spices from various shops in the marketplace became the smell of wet grass, and the sprawling greens from buildings’ rooftops turned into the greenery of nature.
In the distance, Alhaitham's keen eyes catch sight of the familiar gardens that have become a sanctuary amidst the chaos of the city. Their blooming flowers and lush vegetation beckon to him, offering solace and respite from the demands of the everyday. And there, amidst the vibrant tapestry of colors and textures, he sees you.
He settles beneath the tree where the two of you usually sit, your Dendro Vision aglow while you tend to the plants, the grass curling towards your feet and the Sumeru Roses blooming larger. As one of the city's main suppliers, you've been working yourself to the bone trying to keep up with the demand. With eremite attacks growing more rampant, the demands of the people have pushed you to the limits of your physical and mental endurance. Yet, in the face of this ceaseless task, you remain steadfast, pouring your heart and soul into the care of each precious plant, ensuring that the city's needs are consistently met. You kneel in the grass, inspecting the petals of a nearby Padisarah.
In that moment, your head turns towards him. Alhaitham's breath catches in his chest, his heartbeat quickening imperceptibly. The intensity of your gaze, now locking with his, holds a power that leaves him captivated. And then, like a sunbeam breaking through the clouds after a storm, a smile graces your lips, illuminating your face with a warmth that reaches the depths of his being.
After a few moments of delicately tending to the vibrant blossoms, you gracefully rise from your kneeling position and settle yourself next to Alhaitham beneath the ancient tree. His eyes follow your every movement as you delicately twirl a Sumeru Rose in your hand, its petals brushing against your fingertips like the softest silk. A tender smile graces his lips as you press close to his side, the warmth of your presence radiating against his arm.
Feeling his touch, you lean your head gently on his shoulder, finding solace in his embrace. Alhaitham's hand instinctively finds its place on your side, his fingers intertwining with the fabric of your clothing as if trying to draw you impossibly closer. You adjust your positions together, finding a comfortable nook amidst the lush grass, its gentle blades whispering against your garments, a soft reminder of nature's embrace.
As you settle into this shared space of tranquility, the air filled with the intoxicating scent of blooming flowers, a peaceful silence envelops you both. The world beyond seems to fade away, leaving only the two of you and the earth and the connection that binds you.
No words need to be exchanged between the two of you. It’s in this quiet haven, amidst the beauty of nature, that Alhaitham finds his peace.
Among the flowers’ nectarine embrace, he can let the world fall away.
With you, he is simply Alhaitham.
And that’s all he ever needs to be.

Jack Wolfe as Gabe Goodman
So I've had a few "Tell me everything!" responses to my recent post about the Donmar Warehouse's stunning new production of Next to Normal. Knowing the audience here, I'll narrow my focus to writing about what I know my fellow 'Six of Crows' fans will most want to hear - Jack's role as Gabe. I won't be recapping the show itself, as I assume most folks reading this will have listened to the soundtrack, read the script, or watched a Broadway bootleg. Or at least I hope so, because below you will find MAJOR SPOILERS for Next to Normal and specifically the Donmar's staging of it.
Tumblr media
Gabe is introduced to us as the Goodman's teenage son, who seemingly has a close affectionate relationship with his mother, Diana, but frosty relationships with his father Dan and sister Natalie, neither of whom acknowledge his presence. About thirty minutes in we are shown exactly why. Diana brings out an 18th birthday cake when the family have Nat's boyfriend Henry over for dinner and it is revealed that today would have been Gabe's birthday...if he'd been alive. But Gabe died when he was a baby and Diana has only been imagining him growing up all these years.
Up until this point, Jack has been playing Gabe as a cheeky rebellious teenager, but when he slinks back on stage to blow out the candles on his cake, he becomes a much more ethereal and impish presence. In I Am The One, his expression transforms from sweet and devoted when singing to his mom, to menacing and malevolent when singing to his dad. Gabe manifests as different personas for each member of his family and it's thrilling to watch as Jack shifts between them all. When Natalie comes downstairs to sing Superboy and the Invisible Girl we see Gabe as the cocky conceited older sibling, who seems to revel in being their mother's favorite.
Tumblr media
In her next therapy session, Diana is asked to speak about her son and this is when we get Gabe's showstopping I'm Alive solo. This number really did raise the roof. I'll admit when I saw videos of Jack singing it at Tom Kitt's concert, I was worried he wasn't giving the song the necessary attack. But on stage he goes absolutely full-throttle with it. He starts at the top of the stairs with a mic stand, looking like the frontman of a rock band, then he brings the mic down, roaming all over the floor. At one point in the song, Natalie and Dan have an argument and Gabe comes to stand between them, looking amused as he passes the mic between them. However Gabe starts to lose some of his swagger as Diana's doctor suggests that - as 18 is the age that children typically leave home - maybe Diana should think about her son this way and finally let him go.
In the next scene, Diana is in the kitchen, clearing out Gabe's things. She holds up a baby-grow and then starts playing a music box she used to use to help Gabe to sleep. Gabe comes down the stairs with a rucksack and duffle bag, like he's a kid being kicked out of the house by his parents. Diana can't seem to go through with it as she pulls him into a dance and they end up hugging with Gabe's head tucked under his mother's chin, like a needy child. This leads into There's a World, a hauntingly beautiful song with a very sinister undertone as we learn this is Gabe leading Diana towards a suicide attempt. This song and Catch Me I'm Falling are an excellent display of Jack's high range (he'd make a wonderful Orpheus in Hadestown - the UK production is coming next year, so...please??)
Tumblr media
Following the suicide attempt, Diana is given shock therapy and consequently loses her memories of the last eighteen years. In the early part of Act 2 and for the song Aftershocks, Gabe is up in one of the upstairs rooms, like he's been locked in a cell - not gone, but no longer able to get to Diana. When Diana finds and plays Gabe's music box, there's this very chilling sight of Gabe's silhouette, his hands pressing to the screen, as he sings along to the melody. The lighting here is eerily reminiscent of a sonogram. When Diana regains her memory of her lost son, Gabe breaks free of the room, comes down the stairs to sing his I'm Alive (Reprise) from on top of the kitchen counter. After his wife's relapse, Dan crumbles to the floor, his back pressed to the kitchen counter. Gabe disappears behind the other side of the counter, and (I'm told, I couldn't see from my angle) he sits in the same position as Dan. They both stay like this for about 15mins while scenes with Diana, Nat and Henry take place.
As Diana leaves, Dan finally rises from the floor and begins singing his I am the One (Reprise). In other videos of this song that I have seen, Gabe is played quite aggressively, stalking around Dan, goading his father into acknowledging him. Jack does this scene very differently and effectively. He stays behind the counter, his eyes downcast, his manner meek as if quietly pleading for his father's attention. When Dan yells out "Why didn't you go with her?!" Gabe leaps up onto the counter and throws his arms around Dan, desperately clinging to him. When they get to the chorus, Dan turns round to face Gabe, gripping his arms. Then at the end, Dan staggers back and tearfully says his son's name for the first time. When Gabe responds with his "Hi Dad", Jack's face his full of shocked awe. He plays it like a child realizing the father he thought hated him, loved him all along. It's a devastating moment that had everyone in tears.
After the song, Dan reaches out a hand towards Gabe, but he stops as Natalie comes downstairs. Dan tells Nat her mother has left and Nat asks him - "So it's just me and you for now?" and there's a hesitation where Dan glances at Gabe, who is still sitting on the counter. When Dan finally answers yes, it's just the two of them, Gabe's expression is accepting, not resentful like earlier in the show. As he leaves to go upstairs, Gabe gently touches Nat's hand, almost like an apology. Natalie gives the slightest reaction, as if she is sensing something. It's a beautiful resolve to Gabe's role, and when he appears for the last time for his verse in Light, he no longer feels like a malevolent spirit, but more like this serene angel watching over his family as they all try to heal and go on with lives.
This is honestly a star-making performance from Jack as a young musical theatre actor. And as much as I want Jack and the other Crows actors to be off filming their spinoff show once the strikes are resolved, I also feel strongly that Jack belongs on the stage. Between his acting, his presence and his vocals, he's sure to be a performer in demand in the West End. Here's hoping there's award nominations to come. He's deserving of them.

Last night I went to see hadestown during the previews in London
Before Hermes starts to sing road to hell 1 she looked at the time on pocket watched attached to her waistcoat and again before she sings road to hell 2 she checked the time.
During road to hell 1 when Hades is introduced he holds up a tea cup not a glass like in the Broadway show or the US tour.
During way down hadestown when the fates sing ‘’Better go and get your suitcase packed guess it’s time to go’’ one of them mimicked packing and holding up a suitcase.
There is a new verse in epic 3! this comes between the last two verse I can’t remember the full things just three of the lines- Orpheus and Hades are the same they have both lost the woman they love, Hades has a hole in his heart, his war will not be won.
The press pictures of the cast in costume are not the same they wore the same as the Broadway show.
Orpheus dose not play the guitar during we raise our cups the guitar player in band dose this.
After Orpheus has finished writing the song realises Eurydice is gone he comes to find Hermes says ‘’excuse me Hermes’’.
Orpheus comes in from a side door and climes on the stage after flowers has ended.

Imagine you found a new musical, a new tune to sing as you do chores in your apartment or wondering the Dreaming
Hadestown
You were captivated by the retelling of an old Greek story, you were enthralled by the music and devotions of love, and you were brought to your knees by the tragedy. And you were utterly oblivious, and were not explicitly told yet, that Orpheus was Dream’s child.
So, one day, you were in the Dreaming with earbuds in, mindlessly doing a random hobby - crocheting, doodling, knitting, just anything to keep your hands busy - in your shared bedroom. You started to sing under your breath, singing about a love who is saying to wait for them, they will find them again.
Dream then strolled into the bedroom, seeking you out.
Your voice was soft, and a low mumbling in hopes of matching the beautifully music. Under your breath, you sang, “Wait for me, I’m coming/ Wait, I’m coming with you -“
Dream froze.
He knew that song. He knew all of it. He heard the first note constructed so long ago in a dream. And just like then, his heart ached.
Feeling a presence, you glanced over and smiled. “Hi, Dream.”
However, your eyes quickly noticed a crack in his statuesque features. A frown weighed on the corners of his lips, his eyes were distant and gazed ahead locked on somewhere you could not see. He was thrown back into time, trapped in old painful memories.
You stood up, dropping your things on the couch. Your earbuds jammed into your pockets, pausing the heartbreakingly sweet music. “Dream?”
His eyes swiveled, locking back onto you - you who was directly in front of him. He said nothing. His throat constricted, betraying him.
“Are you okay?” You asked, concerned.
Pushing down his emotions, he spoke calmly, “I am.”
Your lips thinned, unconvinced.
“Can -“ His request was on the tip of his tongue. He hadn’t thought of Orpheus in so long, and his heart broke all over again as if he heard the devastating news for the first time. “- can I listen to your music?”
“Oh? Uh, sure.”
It was an odd request, but you wouldn’t deny him. You had shared your music before countless times. However, you knew there was something else, some other reasoning. One you would not pry right now. You pulled out one earbud and passed it over. Once you both had a bud in, you pressed play on your phone.
The music cut back to life.
Dream closed his eyes, listening to the story he knew well.
“Dream?”
He opened his eyes.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You just seem … off,” you pointed out.
“I am.” He repeated his answer from earlier. You nodded in defeat. So instead, you fell back into the music until Dream spoke up. “Could you sing for me?”
You stared at him dumbfounded. You laughed once, “Why? I’m not even half as good as the actual singers.”
“You are good enough for me.”
You blinked, and soon your surprise melted into adoration. You shocking your head, smiling, “You really want me to sing?”
“Just for a bit.”
His eyes begged.
“Ok, only for you.”
You began to hum under your breath, and slowly but quietly sing along with the music.
Dream smiled to himself. A sorrowful one. His boy, his little Orpheus, was alive, just for this small moment. He was beside his father, inspiring just like his mother.
Dream would later tell you everything. He would spill into every childhood story about Orpheus, to all of his hobbies and interests. And you would be there hanging onto each of his words, and comforting Dream when he asked.

it’s a sad song (but we sing it anyway) — ethan landry
Tumblr media
Description: “Someone has to leave first. This is a very old story. There is no other version of this story.” (Richard Siken)
Or, Ethan tells you his true identity.
Pairing: Ethan Landry x GN!Reader
Warnings/Tags: angst, no happy ending sorry guys (but i dont think it’s that bad tbf), canon typical violence, mentions of death, extra warning for those who have watched psych s7 ep7, unedited but i might edit soon
Word Count: 1.4k
Author’s Note: someone should hold me back from using hadestown lyrics as fic titles .
Ethan is going to hell.
He had never believed in the idea of righteousness or salvation, not even in karma or the rule of reciprocity. But you’ve broken down the walls he has worked years to put up, leaving him vulnerable and wondering how you managed to destroy his years of work in mere seconds. Now he doesn’t know what to believe.
There is no version of this story that goes well for him, he realizes. He has turned it over in his head a million times, and it ends with you—or him—leaving.
He hesitantly steps onto the crime scene. Though nervousness is part of his act, he can’t help but think it’s also because he’s afraid to face you. He ducks under the yellow tape and his eyes flit to your figure sitting at the edge of the curb a few feet away from the others, a blanket around your shoulders. You pull it taut, looking at the ground, shivering, no doubt in shock.
He blinks and then he’s pushed up against a van, his angry roommate demanding answers. Ethan gives his alibi mindlessly. He had practiced it, he doesn’t need to think. It’s not like he can think, because once his gaze lands on you, your eyes widened at Chad’s outburst, his mind clouds with you. Only you.
What’s worse is that once Chad is off him and Ethan is squatting in front of you, you look into his eyes without a hint of fear. Not even betrayal. Because you don’t suspect him. That’s what shakes Ethan—he lies to you, and you believe him without so much as a thought. Isn’t this what he wanted?
Then why doesn’t it feel right?
He reaches out to you, hand hovering over your shoulder, silently asking for permission. You nod.
You’re cold to the touch, even through the blanket he can feel the chill radiating off you. He ends up rubbing your back to help you get warm, and there is a split second where you’re searching his face.
You jump into his arms, and he stumbles onto the ground as you cling to him, not even minding the stares you’re getting.
He relishes in your trust, knowing you won’t be safe with him for much longer. Hell, you were never safe with him. The difference will be that you’ll know.
Shortly after getting checked out by the medics and exploring the abandoned theatre with the rest of the group, Ethan is surprised to hear you ask if you can go to his place for a bit.
Obviously, he says yes. He can’t possibly turn you down. But he has a bad feeling, maybe it’s intuition or something else.
The view is familiar. You’re laying on him, a hand over his heart, feeling its steady beat while he squeezes your side for comfort. If the comfort is for him or you, he doesn’t know.
You’re both supposed to leave in a few hours to meet up with Kirby and the others to hopefully track down ghostface through a phone call.
“You can’t leave my side,” You finally say after a long stretch of silence, palm still smoothed over his chest. If you feel the sudden change in his heartbeat, you don’t mention it.
“I won’t leave you. You know that,” And he means it. He hates that he means it. It’s not him. It’s not who he’s supposed to be. “We’ll get him.” He whispers, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head, relieved from the comfortable sigh that you let out. It’s a promise he knows he will break. Kirby’s plan is bound to fail—it’s a heavy stone in his heart, and he keeps it there because he knows he deserves the burden of carrying it.
You get up to take a quick shower, he heads to the kitchen for a drink. His throat is dry.
For the first time in his life, Ethan is clueless.
About ten minutes later, he hears the shower shut off, and you exit the bathroom after a moment, wearing his clothes. He almost smiles, but you’ve got something in your hand. He doesn’t process it just yet.
He never saw it going like this. Not in a million years, not even in the scenarios he ran through in his head.
Your face is devoid of any emotion. Numb, as you throw the dagger at Ethan’s feet.
He stares at the weapon on the floor, a speck of blood on the otherwise shiny surface, a spot he missed. He recalls haphazardly throwing the knife under the sink to move for later, but it is that moment he realizes he’d forgotten.
His head snaps toward you, and it’s then he figures out you’re shaking. But you’re still emotionless—maybe that’s what scares him the most—you’re the easiest to read. He can’t possibly read you now.
“Explain this,” Your voice doesn’t falter, and there’s a brief staring contest between the two of you before Ethan picks up the knife.
His body carries him. He no longer controls himself. You step back, much to his dismay.
You watch while he runs it under the water, unable to look in your eyes.
“Ethan,” you call sternly. “Ethan, are you listening to me?” When your voice breaks—
He breaks, too.
There’s a loud clank that sounds when Ethan slams the weapon into the sink. It makes you flinch.
His jaw clenches upon seeing the tears in your eyes. “Falling in love with you was never part of the plan, okay?”
It’s the confirmation you were looking for. The actual name to his secret is not even uttered, the word never said. It hangs in the air.
“This all started because my brother died,” The venom rolls off his tongue. “But—but then I met you. You’re—you were—” As he struggles to find the right words, he expresses his anger through a shout. “You fucking broke me!”
“What are you talking about?” You stand your ground, to his surprise. “Are you telling me this is all a lie?”
“Please don’t make me answer that,” He whispers.
This whole time, he has carried the guilt of being the reason for the torment you’d experienced. He carried it, thinking it would be worth it, long as you never found out. The goodbye never mattered—long as the image you had of him wasn’t tainted.
But now it is.
Marching toward him, what hurts is that there’s no anger on your face. “Yeah,” you nod, voice finally tapering. “You broke me, too.”
He doesn’t register the slam of the door until seconds later.
This was originally going to be longer, but since I don’t think I’ll write the rest this is how it goes:
Ethan doesn’t tell his dad about you knowing he’s ghostface, he just shows up to the park like everything is normal, half expecting that there’s police waiting for him there but since he’s practically given up he goes anyway
He’s surprised to find that things are normal, you’re just avoiding him. You haven’t turned him in.
You take Mindy’s place on the train, you get stabbed by Quinn and get rushed to the hospital.
Ethan is forced to make the decision of staying at the hospital or going through with the plan. He picks the latter.
It could have gone one of two ways (I didn’t decide):
The plan is successful, the family manages to kill the sisters and the twins and Kirby.
Ethan knows what this means. The mission ends with you. Ethan and Bailey have this standoff where they exchange silent looks, Bailey is practically saying, If you don’t do it, then I will. ‘It’ referring to killing you.
Ethan chooses to kill you at the hospital, not wanting for his father to do it. It reminds him of his first kill—his mother. He lives with it for the rest of his life.
Or, alternatively:
It goes according to canon, Ethan dies. You’re still at the hospital, unconscious, unaware that Ethan died. When you wake up, your friends are at your side, and you’re conflicted on if you’re relieved—then flashbacks ensue of how real your relationship with Ethan felt. You’re alive but you’ll never be the same again.

Also if you're looking for Christmas angst, I've been thinking about Gift For an Angel (Also the Hadestown Christmas album) with Kanera.... and crying a lot 😅
Oh the FEELINGS this one gave me are extensive
Also when you see this and go "WHY THE KARK DID SHE POST THIS SO EARLY???" the answer is as a favor to @laughingphoenixleader. Long story lol, enjoy nonetheless!
Hera sat on the ramp of the Ghost, watching the snow drifting down on the prairies of Lothal. Cold weather had never been her favorite, being from a desert planet. Even now, she had a mug of caf clutched in her hands, trying to let the warmth soak into her from the cooling mug.
But Kanan loved the snow. If Hera closed her eyes, she could imagine him next to her, shoulder pressed against her, trying to keep her warm. His blue-green eyes would be sparkling as he teased her or flirted, and they’d be happy.
Hera closed her eyes against tears. Oh, Kanan. I miss you. She hoped that he was at peace. Even if she wished he was here.
Letting a hand rest on her growing belly, she thought, If you were here this year, I would have had the perfect gift for you. She could picture his excitement at the prospect of being a father so clearly.
She let out a long, shaky sigh. Lifting the mug of caf, she said, “Here’s to you, love. Happy Life Day.”

So I went to see the Mexican production of Anastasia and I have a lot of feelings and thoughts:
Like the tour and international productions, there's a cut from Learn to Do It, and Crossing a Bridge is replaced with Paris Holds the Key (Reprise)- which is a damn shame because if there ever was an Anya that could do justice to Crossing a Bridge that's Mariana Dávila (apparently, she has an almost three octave range? The fuck?!)
Javier Manente (Dmitry) is 1.86m (6'2'') and Mariana Dávila (Anya) is 1.56m (5'2'') which is just insane.
And so Javi honors the ancient Dima tradition of being more of a mover than a dancer, way too tall, handsome and with the voice of an angel 🥰
Mariana is a powerhouse - her voice is stunning and her rendition of In My Dreams will haunt me for months.
Christy and Derek's dynamic was very confrontational for Act 1, very movie Dimya, while Mariana and Javi are more of a hopeful/cynic vibe which also works very well.
Manuel Corta's Vlad is more of a tenor than a baritone so that makes some of the harmonies sound a little hollow but that's me nitpicking because his voice is lovely.
He is short, taller than Anya but shorter than Lily - which makes for a few comedic beats to hit harder, mainly choreography and the line "from the first moment I saw you, I knew I was beneath you".
Carlos Quezada's Gleb is probably the slimiest I've seen yet (Ramin, Max and Constantine). In the scene in his office, instead of grabbing Anya by the arm to stop her from leaving, he grabs her by the waist and talks into her hair?!?! It doesn't help that the translation of Still emphasizes how childlike and innocent Anya is (yikes 😬). The vibes are fatal attraction and the last confrontation feels very much like Anya would rather die than be Gleb's which is a different take for sure.
Even if I didn't love his take on the character, his voice was incredible, he played up the growl at the end of Still into an almost metal/rock thing that I loved
(I just found out that he previously played Scar in The Lion King and Javert in Les Mis which makes so much sense in retrospect)
All song translations are the same as the Madrid production, except for Journey to the Past where they use the translation from the movie (God I wish they had done that for Once Upon a December too)
In the almost kiss for In a Crowd of Thousands they got so close 👀 Christy and Derek left a little room for Jesus between them and usually grabbed each other by the forearms. My boy Javi went straight to cup Mariana's face and touch her hair while she touched his hands and tugged at his shirt!!! Real romantic stuff
Their voices sound so nice together (if you haven't heard their cover of Hadestown you should)
Lily was fucking incredible. The dance scenes! I always thought it was crazy that she had two consecutive dance heavy numbers and she delivered!!! Her singing was superb at all times.
The ballet number was so good!!! All the dancers got a big ovation
Experiencing Stay I Pray You live? I felt it inside my chest, I was so close to tears! (I missed Constantine's voice though 😩)
Irasema Terrazas as The Dowager was amazing, she has that old timey, 1940s starlet quality to her voice that is just mesmerizing.
The costumes are very pretty, lovely quality, and almost the same as Broadway's. If I remember correctly, the ones that were markedly different in terms of fabric were Lily's Neva dress and press dress, and Gleb's coat. The silhouettes are pretty much the same (though The Paris Holds the Key dress was very much a maxi skirt on Mariana 🤭)
