The only disappointing thing about Hadestown is that "Our Lady of the Underground" is just Persephone singing to the audience with the band and Hermes on stage instead of a fully glorious number of her interacting with the workers and having them be her audience in her own underworld speakeasy.
Wonder if Persephone’s need to have the workers say her name in Our Lady of the Underground has anything to do with the fact that Hades doesn’t say her name once in the whole show
I compared my two audition song options to figure the best one for my voice and the musical we will be doing.
But I'm completely stuck.
I've used one before a few years back and most people thought it was good and advised I use it when I do auditions in the future due to the amout of vocal strength/personality that shines through.
The other has been highly recommended for the role I'm going for and shows off a more polished, streamlined version of my voice that makes me more likely to get better roles, but it is difficult to confidently hit the ending note without accompaniment.
I am more confident in the first, it shows my ability to act while singing, and it portrays more personality then the other. But it is unlikely to get the roles that are usually consistently on stage.
I am less confident about the second, but it makes me sing in a way more looked for in actress at local community theatres, shows off multiple new development in my voice, and is a more familiar song that the director, producer, and sponsors will be able to listen to without getting distracted by the instrumental.
The second sounds better to those who aren't focused on technique and the actual acting, which is the majority of the people that will be watching/choosing who plays who.
The first is more me and shows what I can bring to the table and that I can bring something new and orginal to any character I'm given.
This may seem dramatic but I am a actor so I will be as dramatic as I want DAMN IT.
i saw a lot of pieces of that proshot (and also some gif-images in tumblr). now i saw video down below in official hadestown account on tiktok. i guess there might be a fullscreen video of "our lady of the underground" proshot (because gifs wich i've seen were like,,,, fullscreen :p)
