Your phone buzzing on your nightstand distracts you get again from cramming for your Chemistry final. The exam happens in two days, yet you feel like it might as well be in two hours with the amount of anxiety you have. It's your second year of college, and boy, it hasn't gotten any easier. Thankfully, your roommate is out for the night so you have your entire dorm to yourself to study.
You lean over and check your phone. Another missed call from your fiancee, Rafe. Beside your phone on your nightstand sits your engagement ring. You stare at it for a moment and swallow your feelings, then move back over to your chemistry textbook. Your phone buzzes again - a voicemail from Rafe this time, which you don't bother to listen to.
Chemistry is your focus tonight. Chemistry is what you need to be studying for, what you need to know inside and out. You throw yourself back into it, shutting off your phone when it buzzes yet again. You need absolutely zero distractions.
About twenty minutes into it, you hear a loud knock on the door. You sigh, figuring your roommate forgot her ID or keys again. You pull open the door and sigh, fully shocked when you find Rafe standing at your door. He's out of breath from running inside from the parking lot, and he looks pissed off.
"Oh, good, you're alive," he snaps, pushing his way into your room before you can even invite him.
"What are you doing here?" you ask him, closing the door so none of your nosy neighbors can listen to yet another argument between the two of you.
Things haven't been good. You're sick of him calling and texting you all the time, him begging you to come home, and constantly asking who you're with when you go out. On top of all of that, your classes this semester are harder than they've ever been, but Rafe never respects when you say you need space and time to study.
"Checking to see if my fucking fiancee is breathing!" he shouts, throwing his hands up in the air, "I mean, shit, Y/N, I called you, like, twenty times."
You glance over to the nightstand at your phone, realizing your ring was over there, too. You know he won't like that.
"I shut my phone off. I really need to study, Rafe," you tell him, but he's not listening.
Instead, he collapses onto your bed and puts his head in his hands, sitting directly on your Chem textbook and notes.
"Oh, my God, what the hell? Get up," you snap at him, walking over and pushing him off so he doesn't ruin your notes or textbook pages.
"It's fucking fine," he replies as he stands, barely glancing at your papers.
"No, it's not. I need this shit to pass my exam-" you hold the wrinkled papers up.
"They're literally fine, Y/N," his voice raises, "Stop being so dramatic."
You take a deep breath before you speak again, knowing whatever comes out will not be very nice. You've really been trying to be patient with him, but it's getting harder and harder.
"I'm not being dramatic, Rafe," you say calmly, "I just really need to study and I need peace and quiet."
He sighs and rubs the back of his neck as he debates what to say next. Neither of you want to start a fight, but you both have a lot of shit to say. His eye catches the shiny object on the nightstand and he looks over, figuring out it's your engagement ring.
"What the fuck?" he gasps, picking it up and holding it out to you, "Since when do you take this off?"
You put your hands on your forehead and sigh, realizing this is going to take up a lot of time that you don't have. And the fact that Rafe drove eight hours on a whim because you didn't pick up his calls all day has made you crazy.
"I cannot do this with you right now," you tell him, stepping toward your Chemistry stuff.
You'll just have to go to the library and study if he's going to be here. There's no way you can get any of your shit done with him bitching about your ring.
"Oh, my bad, when can you do it, then?" he rolls his eyes, "Huh? Can you give me, like, a window of time where you're actually available to talk?"
"Rafe-" you start, but he holds his hand up.
"No, because, I mean, I don't hear from you all day, and I'm fucking worried about you, so I make the long ass drive to come check on my soon-to-be wife, and now I'm the bad guy? Yeah, no, I get it now!" he exclaims.
"Jesus, okay, I have to go," you say, grabbing your backpack from the floor and sliding some slippers on.
"Right, to study," he grumbles.
"Yeah, to study," you snap back, "Just because you didn't go to school doesn't mean you can't at least try to understand!"
You rarely raise your voice at him, so Rafe knows you're mad. He stares at you for a second, deciding if he should acknowledge your comment about him not attending school.
"It's not about whether or not I understand, it's about time management," he lectures, making you roll your eyes, "Don't roll your fucking eyes at me."
"Don't show up at my dorm unannounced!" you yell back.
"I wouldn't have been unannounced if you would answer your goddamn phone!"
You take a deep breath and exhale loudly, then step closer to the door. Rafe walks over to you and grabs your arm, spinning you around. You stare up at him like he's crazy, he's never laid a hand on you like that before.
"Put your ring back on," he demands, holding it out in his hand.
"What the fuck is your problem, Rafe? You think I'm gonna get hit on walking to the damn library? Get a grip," you mutter, trying to yank your arm from his grasp but failing.
"I'm not playing," he tells you, holding the ring up in his other hand.
"Neither am I," you snap, "Let go of me."
He stares at you for another few seconds and then releases you, groaning loudly when he does. He steps away from you and runs his hand through his hair, then sets your ring back down on the nightstand.
"What's going on with us?" he grumbles, sitting down on your bed again.
You start to feel bad as you look at him, so you step closer and set your books down on you desk. You open your mouth to speak, to apologize and return your ring to your finger, when he speaks out again.
"Why didn't you answer the fucking phone when I called?"
You close your mouth quickly, swallowing the words you were about to say. You stare at him for a moment, then you decide that it's just best to tell him the absolute, stone cold truth.
"Because I have shit going on, Rafe. I have a Chem final in two days and I'm not at all prepared, I have other finals and an entire paper due by the end of the week, and I have you up my ass about everything in between and it's just a little overwhelming right now."
He brings his head out of his hands and looks up at you. His expression changes from hurt to angry in about one second, so you brace yourself.
"So what do you want me to do to help you, then?" he asks, his voice agitated. You can tell he's trying to be patient, but he really wants to yell.
"I just need you to give me some space right now," you state.
He nods his head, moving his eyes away from yours and down to the floor.
"Space," he repeats, "You want space."
You nod your head slowly, afraid now to speak. You can't tell what his reaction is about to be, but obviously it isn't going to be a good one.
"So, you ignore my phone calls," he holds up one finger, "You take off your engagement ring," another finger, "And now you want space. Do you think I'm a fucking moron?"
He stands up off the bed, now towering over you. Your hands come up to your face, rubbing your eyes to try and relieve some form of stress.
"God, Rafe, you're making this out to be something it's not-"
"Am I?" he shouts, "Do you want to marry me or not? I mean, I really think that's what this boils down to. Am I what you want, or not?"
His yelling combined with your stress and confusion makes you yell back at him.
"I don't know!"
He steps back, almost like you've hurt him, and stares at you with a look you've never seen before. It's anger, betrayal, confusion, and sadness all rolled into one, heartbroken expression. It makes your stomach turn thinking about the fact that you're hurting him.
"Well, there it is," he says, his voice cracking, "I'll just get out of your way, then."
He leans down and grabs the ring from your nightstand, wrapping his large hand around it and then stepping toward the door.
"Rafe, wait," you say, "Where are you going to go? You can't drive home in the dark."
He doesn't turn around, he can't look at you. Not when you're not sure what you want.
"I'll sleep in the truck," he says, his voice weak and quiet.
"No," you protest, "Rafe, I'm sorry."
He stands there for a few seconds, then turns, and you see the tears in his eyes. One has fallen, and rests on the bottom of his cheek. He wipes it away, but not quick enough.
"Why are you sorry? I'm not what you want anymore," he laughs, but nothing is funny.
Another tear falls and you step forward quickly, reaching up to wipe it away. He closes his eyes under your touch, always loving feeling your skin on his.
"I didn't say that," you say gently, tears welling in your eyes from seeing him like this.
"Just..." he trails off, finally opening his red eyes, "Go ace your Chem final. I'll see you at home in a few days."
He reaches up and grabs your hand, removing it from his cheek. He lays a quick kiss on your knuckles, then closes his eyes again when he lets go of you. Not sure if it's his last time feeling you.
He turns to leave, opening the door up before he turns back to you.
"I love you. I always will."
He doesn't wait for your response, he just closes the door behind him. You turn and look at the nightstand where your ring once sat, wishing to God that it was still there. You want to tun after him, but you know you can't. You two just need some cooling off time, you tell yourself. You'll come back again atfer finals when you get home for Christmas break. He'll hold onto your ring for you, you convince yourself of that.
You can't focus. The next day, you spend all your time in the library, staring at a page in your Chem textbook, and all you can focus on is your empty finger. No pretty ring that reflects every ounce of Rafe's love for you. You check your phone, but all you see is an empty screen. Your wallpaper is a cheesy picture of Rafe holding a wine glass. You took it on your anniversary last year and love everything about it, especially his cheesy grin.
Tears start to form in your eyes, so you do what you have to do. You call him. It rings and rings and rings, then you hear his familiar, raspy voice on his voicemail.
Yo, it's Rafe. Leave a message and I might hit you back.
You close your eyes, those two sentences being the most you've heard from him in almost twenty-four hours.
"Hey," you start your message, "Look, I'm sorry about last night. I really want to talk. Please call me back. Love you, bye."
You sigh and hang up the phone, then look down to your book again. You try and try to focus, but you can't. It just is impossible with everything spinning around your brain. You can still see the look on his face when you said you weren't sure, you can still hear him say 'I love you' right before he left.
And it's all you want to hear again.
You slam your book shut and grab your stuff, then make your way out of the library. Once you get outside, you call Rafe again. You hear the same ringing and the same message from his voicemail, so you leave another.
"Baby, please call me. I'm worried about you. I just want us to talk. Please call. I love you."
You hang up and walk back to your dorm, checking every five seconds to see if he's called you back. You really just want to hear his voice, to apologize, and to be able to focus on Chemistry again. Knowing that Rafe is out there hurting is just too distracting.
You call hm again after you get back to your dorm, giving him about thirty minutes to call back before you try him again. When he doesn't answer, you leave another message.
"Hey," you say, your voice sounding more desperate, "I'm going to call Dad and have him come get me. I'm skipping out on my Chem final. I just want to come home and work things out with you. Call me, please. Love you."
And you mean every word. You sit down on your bed and you remember how Rafe had helped you move in on your first day of freshman year. You remember how he made love to you and how he proposed to you in the parking lot before he left. And you remember all the times he came to visit and you two laid in bed and planned out your whole wedding reception together, laughing and joking about who to invite and who to sit together.
As you sit there and remember it all, remember the kisses and the laughs and the feelings you have when you're with him, you've never been more sure in your life. It's Rafe. It will always be Rafe.
You hear a knock on your dorm room door and hop out of bed, rushing over to it. It's him, you hope. Coming to rescue you, coming to hold you, coming to give you your ring back. You pull open the door with a big smile, only to find your roommate, Alex, standing on the other side.
"Hey," she says, looking confused at why you opened the door like that, "Sorry. I forgot my keys."
You drop your shoulders and nod, moving her out of the way. She leaves the door open as she moves over to her side of the room to search for them. You sit back down on your bed, checking your phone once again. He has to call back eventually.
"You're not ditching your Chemistry final."
You look up and see him, standing in the doorway, staring at you. His eyes are tired, his hair is a mess, and he looks like he's hung over. You don't even want to know where the hell he's been for the past day.
"Rafe," you breathe, hopping up from your bed.
You want to throw your arms around him, hug him, and have you hold him. He stops you when you get close to him, holding out his hand to keep distance between the two of you, which practically breaks your heart in two.
"You're not coming home until you take that test," he repeats, "You've been studying for it and if you don't take it, you fail. So, you're staying. I called your dad."
You frown. This is not how you imagined it. He seems colder somehow.
"Okay," you say, "Fine. But I want us to talk."
Rafe shakes his head, leaning against the doorframe. Alex walks up behind you, whispering she will be back later, and leaves with a quick smile to Rafe.
"I'm giving you your space so you can focus. We'll work on us when you're done with the semester."
He sounds firm, but you know you can win this one. You step forward, so close that he can almost feel your skin on his. Your scent fills the air, and you watch as he swallows his feelings.
"Rafe," you say, your voice soft, "I can't focus on anything knowing that I hurt you. I need to talk about us and figure things out. Please."
"Baby," he sighs, and you know you've won just by the return of your nickname. It's your favorite, which is why he calls you it so often.
"Please," you say, taking his hand. Your fingers wrap through his, pulling him inside.
He groans but enters anyway, both of you knowing that he would do anything for you. The door closes behind him, which you're thankful for. You sit him down on your bed and instantly crawl onto his lap, not caring if that's what he wants or not. That's what you need. Your head buries into his chest and your arms wrap around his neck.
"Baby," he says again, this time with more authority.
You bring your lips up to his neck to soften him up, listening to the small moans that come out of his mouth as you work.
"Rafe," you say against his skin, "I'm so sorry for what I said yesterday."
He hums, so you give him a few more kisses on his neck before you pull back to look at him. He stares at you with soft eyes, and you know you've already won him over. But you still need to say what you need to say.
"Truly, baby. I was wrong. I was angry. You are all I want in this world and I couldn't handle any of this without you. I was acting extremely ungrateful and I'm really, really sorry," you continue, watching him smile sadly at you.
"Well," he smirks, moving his hands from your back down to your butt, "I've always known you're a brat, so."
"Hey," you pretend to pout, but really, you just want a kiss. He gives you a slow, gentle one, one that makes you want to melt into him.
"You are the love of my life," he says, "You could never say anything to make me walk. And I'm sorry for being such a dick yesterday and for not respecting your school. I'm gonna get better. This shit is just hard for me, having you all the way here. I just miss you when I'm home."
You nod, reaching up and brushing his hair away from his eyes with your fingers. Even when he hasn't showered, is in the same clothes as yesterday, hasn't styled his hair or even slept well, he still is the most handsome to you.
"I understand. I'm sorry for being so hard on you," you say, kissing him on the cheek.
He smiles against your lips, bringing his hands up to your face to move you down to his lips.
"Are we okay?" he asks you in between kisses.
You hum against his lips, and he takes that as a yes, so he flips you over and lays down on top of you, kissing you like his life depends on it. He quickly moves down to your neck, his hands going underneath your shirt.
"Oh, my God, I missed you, baby," he tells you as you feel him leaving a hickey on your neck.
"Always marking me up," you laugh at him, feeling him smirk against you, "I missed you, too."
"It killed me not calling you back," he continues against your neck, "But I wanted to do right by you, you know?"
You gasp when he bites you slightly, then laugh when you feel his big grin on your neck.
"That's why I love you the way I do," you say sweetly.
He sits up and looks down at you, smirking widely, "Can you love me like you do right now and then get back to your studying?"
You bite your lip and nod, pulling him back down on top of you.
A little while later, you and Rafe lay naked in your bed, just breathing in the other. Rafe is drawing hearts into the skin on your stomach, leaving little kisses every so often on any inch of skin he could reach with his mouth.
"You need to get back to studying," he says, but doesn't stop with his kisses.
"Can I have my ring back first?"
He looks up at you with wide eyes, wondering if you really mean it. He didn't want to bring up the ring, just in case you had changed your mind about the engagement.
"You sure?" he asks quietly.
You grab his chin and pull him up to you, stroking his hair as you give him a couple quick kisses.
"I've never been more sure of anything," you tell him.
He nods and kisses you again, then hops off the bed and pulls the ring out of the zipped up pocket of his shorts. He grins at you and then jumps back in bed, of course landing on you when he does.
"This is a twin bed, you ogre. You can't be jumping and shit, there's not enough room for you!" you say as you try to free your left side from underneath him.
He moves and lets you get situated, then holds out the ring. You hold up your left hand for him ti put it on you once again.
"Will you marry me?" he asks, and you would've laughed at him if his voice wasn't so gentle and nervous.
"Of course I will, Rafe Cameron," you tell him, smiling.
He slides your ring back on your finger and you somehow feel more complete, more whole, knowing it's there.
"It's never coming off again," you tell him, meaning it.
He kisses you softly, "No, it's not."
Rafe takes a shower and then hangs out on your bed on his phone later on to keep himself occupied while you study for Chem at your desk. You ask him to quiz you and he does, even though he knows nothing about Chemistry.
It gets late, so you tell him you'll study the rest tomorrow and hope to be prepared the following day for the exam. You put your book and notes on your desk, then slide into bed with Rafe, who you made stay with you tonight. Although it didn't take much convincing.
"I can't believe your dad is just letting you take all this time off," you mumble against his chest.
"Hmm," Rafe hums, so you know you're wrong, "I've kinda been dodging his calls."
"He'll be mad," you tell him, and he nods.
"I don't care, though. I got what I came here for."
You spend all day the next day studying in the library for Chem and writing your paper, while Rafe packs your things for you. He figures it's one less thing for you to worry about, and then you can just come with him after you finish your exam. He had told you he wanted to be the one to bring you, his soon-to-be wife, home.
Rafe waits for you outside your building on exam day. One by one, students file out of the building, and he gets even more anxious every time you aren't one of them. Eventually, he stops pacing and sits down on a bench, praying that you do well.
He sees you emerge from the building with only ten minutes to spare, and jumps up to greet you.
"So?" he asks, his voice hopeful.
"I won't know for a few days," you tell him, "But I'm confident. I felt like I had most of it under control."
He smiles, taking your hand in his and kissing it, "I'm so proud of you, baby."
You smile and thank him, then put your head on his chest in hopes that he'll wrap his arms around you. With the amount of stress you've been under the past few days, all you want is just for him to hold you right now.
"I'm so proud of you," he repeats, swallowing you up in his arms.
You breathe in his scent and relax, knowing that even if you fail every class you ever take for the rest of your life, you will always have a place in the arms of this boy.
After a few minutes, you move to look up at him by resting your chin on his sternum, staring up at him. He smiles down at you, running a hand through your hair as an attempt to calm you down.
"Take me home, Rafe," you tell him quietly, and he nods.
He reaches down and takes your hand, leading you away from the building. You two go back and grab the remaining items you need to bring home, the rest Rafe already packed in the truck, and then go out to the parking lot to head home.
You feel relieved, ready to spend some quality time with Rafe and really make sure to work on things so that nothing ever gets bad between the two of you again.
He puts you into the truck and closes your door, then hops into the driver's side. He reaches over and takes your hand, staring at the ring on your finger and smiling softly.
"Let's just elope and get it over with," he looks up at you, already laughing because he knows you'll never agree.
"Yeah, I'm glad our wedding is something you just wanna get over with," you roll your eyes, but can't help your smile.
"You know what I mean," Rafe groans, "We don't need all the bullshit and the drama. I just need you. And a minister."
You laugh at him and nod, understanding what he means. He looks down at your hand in his, at the diamond on your finger, and so do you. You honestly can't remember why you took it off, you just know you never will again.
"A small wedding it is," you whisper.
He leans over and gives you a kiss. Then another. Then another. He pulls away and starts the truck, then looks back over a you.
"Baby, I'll do whatever you want."
That sentence combined with the cheesy smile he gives you afterward is what convinces you that, no matter what, Rafe will always be yours, and you will always be his.

Doom: To Hell And Back
Chapter 1: Leave is Canceled
Hi everyone! I've been thinking about this for some time and I finally decided to do it. This is my first fanfiction in years and my very first reader insert. I hope this does Doom justice I truly do.
“In the year 2026 archaeologists working in the Nevada desert discovered a portal to an ancient city on Mars. They called this portal the Ark. 20 years later we’re still struggling to understand why it was built and what happened to the civilization that built it. “
A shrill beeping broke the silence of the room. Groaning you swatted at your night side table looking for the object of your extreme annoyance. Which you undoubtedly flung to the floor; hissing you peeled your eyes open and rolled half your body off the bed to look for your damn phone. Picking it up you jabbed the green button and put the device to your ear.
“H’lo” you cringed slightly at the sound of your own voice. You immediately stiffened at the sound of your commanding officer's voice.  “ Yes sir, no sir. I’ll be at the strip in an hour sir.”
You sat up and hissed at the sudden altitude, sighing you look at the time and flipped your blankets up. Moving around your room in the semi-dark was almost routine by now. The only light was a red blinking open sign from the dive bar below you; it seeped through your blinds like a bad omen. Dressing quickly you scanned the room and grabbed your phone and keys.
Rushing out the door you passed by the bar owner. You gave him a courteous wave before hopping on your bike. The man grunted at you and examined your ass; as he always does. Sighing and rolling your eyes you revved the engine and were off to base. You were in RRTS unit 4, which is based in Washington State.
It took very little time to drive up the coast; slowing down to a stop at the heavily guarded gated entrance you balanced your bike and gave a smile to the guard. “Hey Mike,” you said lifting your helmet visor.  “Hey (Y/N), I thought you were on leave?” came the voice of a kind rotund man. You gave a sad sigh, “Oh you know; I love my job so much I just couldn’t stay away.” you said with a laugh.
Mike snorted and shook his head; he pulled a retinal scanner from his belt and held it up to your eye. After a moment the little machine whirled and gave a happy beep of approval. The gate to the bridge slid open and you flicked your visor down again. “Tell Mina I said hello! Oh and that I hope she aced that Chem exam!” you called out over your bike’s engine. Mike grinned and gave a slight wave in response. You then sped across the three-mile-long bridge to the man-made island that housed your unit. Parking close to your barracks, you hop off your bike and take the stairs two at a time. Pulling off your helmet, you tug the door open and walk straight into your commanding officer.
Gunnery Sergeant Edward Cayden call sign Hunter. “Oof, Jesus Hunt. Hi.” you said rubbing your nose. “(Y/N), my girl, right on time! Come on I have a debrief for you.” he said with a lopsided smile. The man turned and you followed him relaxed as can be. “What’s going on Hunt?” you asked closing his office door.  Hunter sat down at his desk and plugged in a data chip.
“Union Aerospace has requested assistance to contain a Level 5 breach at their Olduvai facility.”
“This is Dr. Carmack, Classified Research, Olduvai, ID 6627. We’ve had a level 5 breach. Implement quarantine procedures immediately. I repeat. This is Dr. Carmack, Classified Research. Olduvai, ID 6627. We’ve had a level 5 breach. Implement quarantine procedures now.”
“Gunnery Sergeant Mahonin requested a specialist medic. One who has been in the shit and one who can handle their weapon. He requested you by name (Y/N); and I guess it helps you have experience in quarantine situations. And all those fancy medals." Hunter said with a proud smile. You roll your eyes but return the smile. “Careful your face is gonna split in two, old man.”
Hunted scowled, “I’m not old.”
You snorted and moved toward the door, “(Y/N)” you looked over your shoulder with a raised eyebrow. Hunter frowned, “Be careful kid. I got a bad feeling about this one.”  he said and you give him a grin. “When am I not careful?”
The man sighs and shakes his head as she leaves his office to grab her gear. Tapping his desk with his knuckle, Hunter calls up Mahonin. “She’s on her way.”
“Good. We’ll rendezvous in Nevada; thanks again Ed for lending her out.” came a terse reply. “She better come back in the same-” Hunter was cut off by a laugh. “If she is as you described’ there won’t be a problem. Mahonin out.” the line went dead. The feeling in the pit of his stomach became more pronounced.
It took a solid hour for the transport to land at area 51. You checked and double-checked your gear. Medkits, ammo, testing kits, knife, belt knife, boot knife, rifle, handgun. You shifted in your seat, your vest perfectly tight around your ribs. You pressed your thumb into the scanner of your rifle,
“ RRTS Special Ops clearance Verified. Handle ID: Crow”
Smirking you glance down at the black tattoo on your wrist. “Pray for war,” you whisper as the transport touched down. Sliding the door open you look over to see another transport dropping down. Grabbing your pack you head toward the facility entrance to wait. Eight men exited the chopper and jogged toward you. You were already getting some looks; moving forward a few steps to meet a rather large man in the center. He held out a hand towards you, “ Sergeant (Y/L/N), good to finally meet you. I’m Gunnery Sergeant Mahonin. Call me Sarge.” you nod and shake the man’s hand. Sarge turned toward his men and waved a hand toward each one “ We’ve got Mac, Goat, Destroyer, Portman, Duke, Reaper, and the Kid.”
You nod at them all and waited as Sarge continued, “Men this is Crow our borrowed Medic and quarantine expert. She comes from RRTS Unit 4.”
Portman leered at you and licked his lips. You rolled your eyes and glanced over your shoulder as the elevator began to rise from the sand. “Move in,” Sarge commanded and all nine of you crammed into the elevator. “Hey, Sarge I thought Reaper was our medic? Not that I’m complaining.” Duke asked sending you a charming smile.
“Just because I have an understanding of first aid, doesn’t make me a medic.” Reaper said lowly. That’s when you suddenly feel fingers dance across your ass, gritting your teeth you expertly grab the hand and twist it so it was at an odd angle. Portman cried out in pain. “Listen, Portman was it? I’m only going to say this once. Touch me again, and I’ll make it look like natural causes. Am I clear?”
Portman yelped when he didn’t answer as you brought a finger to a pressure point in his wrist. “Am. I. Clear?” you asked again slowly. The elevator was quiet and watching with amusement. “Crystal.” Portman gasped and you let him go. Portman held his hand to his chest and glared at you.  Sarge gave you a once over and nodded his approval; he didn't have the time or patience to hold hands. He seemed happy that you could take care of yourself.
“I think I’m in love,” Duke said with a grin, you rolled your eyes and faced front again with a smirk. Destroyer’s laugh boomed in the small space and Reaper’s lip twitched upwards into a ghost of a smile. The elevator slowed and came to a stop, the Ark was dead ahead. Hunter’s bad feeling fluttered in your own stomach now.

Midnight Cuddles
Summary: You can’t sleep, so you go to your friend Bakugou for help, though it’s a bit more than what you were expecting.
Word Count: 1,571
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None
A/N: Hey ya’ll! I haven’t posted in a really, really, really long time, but here ya go! Let me know what you think! (Also, I’ve been meaning to write this for a very long time, but never got around to it. Super happy I finally did!)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
As much as you loved it here at UA, it had officially screwed you up.
Within a few days, you have somehow managed to go from great eating habits and sleep schedule to living off Bang, Monster energy drinks, and black coffee while getting somewhere around 2 and a half hours of sleep.
With midterms starting in a few days, for both normal and hero classes, your sense of self-preservation seemed to have taken a nice long vacation. Between studying and training, self-care was pretty much one of the last things you were worried about at this point.
As of now, you were looking aimlessly between your computer and your notes, debating how many questions you could miss on this test without absolutely failing. Hearing a sudden knock at your door jolted you back to reality, though it took you a minute to register what was going on.
“(Y/N)! I know you’re still awake in there! Let me in for a minute!”
Usually it wasn’t weird for your best friend Mina to want to have random midnight talks, so this wasn’t too out of the ordinary. Pushing yourself out of your chair and taking a swig of your coffee, you walked to the door, careful not to run into anything on your way over, since you had forgotten to turn on the light even after the sun went down.
“Hey Mina,” you said tiredly.
“Hey girl, I-” Mina paused, glancing behind you at your room, which was currently being illuminated solely by your computer screen, as well as the mess that was currently occupying your desk.
“Uh, is everything okay?” she asked.
“Hm? Oh, yeah it’s all-” you stop, having to yawn, before plopping yourself down on the bed- “It’s all good. Just a bit of studying.”
“Okay, girl, what cup number is that?” Mina asked, gesturing to the coffee cup sitting amongst the many other empty cans.
“Honestly, I’ve stopped counting,” you replied, laughing tiredly.
Mina rolled her eyes, walking over and grabbing the cup of coffee, despite your objections, “Look, you’re going to sleep. This can wait until tomorrow. Besides, Aizawa’s not gonna be too happy if you pass out in the middle of his class.”
“Ughh fine, I’ll go to bed,” you said, accepting that that was probably the most you were going to be able to cram for tonight.
“Good. Well, good night (y/n)!” Mina half shouted from down the hall, in somewhat of an attempt to not wake up everyone else.
“Night!” you yelled back, forcing yourself up from off the bed to get ready to go to sleep.
~time skip~
Despite being unbelievably tired, it had been about 30 minutes since you had finished getting ready for tomorrow morning and laid down, yet you had been completely unable to fall asleep.
‘Stupid caffeinated drinks’
You cursed yourself internally for drinking so much coffee. Frustrated, you thought about your options:
You could sneak out downstairs to the common area, but if Aizawa-Sensei happened to be down there, you’d definitely be in trouble.
You could try to cram some more, but you had a feeling if you looked at your Chem. notes one more time you would actually die.
Lastly, you contemplated doing something completely and utterly stupid and irrational: Asking to crash in one of your classmates’ rooms.
You didn’t know why, but for whatever reason, you found it a lot easier to fall asleep with others near by. Usually this wouldn’t be a problem, since none of the girls really ever minded having an unplanned sleepover. However, considering the fact that it was just over one in the morning, and class started in five hours, you guessed they were all probably asleep.
You thought about asking one of your guy friends, but Kiri slept like, well, a rock, and wouldn’t wake up without a blaring alarm. You would ask Kaminari, but he was probably still gaming, and it’s not too easy to fall asleep with him yelling at his console in the background. Sero would be a good choice, but he was at a family gathering, and wouldn’t be back until next week. Considering you didn’t really feel comfortable asking the other guys in your class, that left you with one other choice: Bakugou.
While yes, usually Katsuki did go to bed earlier than everyone else, like you, midterms had screwed that up. Even though he was still doing well in class, you had actually bumped into him during a 2am snack run a few days ago, so you guessed it wasn’t too far off to say there’s a chance he might still be awake. Even if he did end up telling you to screw off, it was at least worth trying.
Walking through the boy’s dorm hall, you noticed that you were indeed correct, as even while passing his dorm you could hear Kaminari shouting. What intrigued you though, was seeing the light peeking out from the doorframe of Katsuki’s room.
Knocking, you called for him, “Katsuki, I know you’re at least awake, can you open up?”
After about a minute of silence, the door to his room swung open, and you had a rather irritated looking Bakugou staring you down, the draft flowing from his room making you shiver.
He was wearing a black hoodie with sweats, and had a pair of glasses on, which made you notice the pile of notes, costume redesigns, and other sheets of paper scattered across his desk.
“What do you want dumbass, it’s late, and I’m busy,” he said.
“Uh- Oh right! Um, so, I was uh-” you stuttered out, trying to figure out how to word your sentence, which was proving difficult with the combination of his glare and your tiredness.
“Get to the point extra-” he warned.
“Look, can I sleep in your room tonight?” you asked.
His eyes widened, before regaining his irritated composure.
“How come? You got a room, don’t you?”
“Well, I can’t sleep,” you admitted, though that part was obvious.
“And what makes you think sleeping in my room is gonna change that?” he asked.
You looked away, before answering in a quieter voice, “It’s just, well, it’s just easier for me to sleep when other people are around.”
“Can’t you ask one of your other friends?”
“No, they’re all sleeping, and I don’t want to wake them up,” you replied.
After a moment, he sighed, before opening the door all the way and stepping aside to let you in.
“Fine. But you owe me,” he said.
To that, you lit up, nearly knocking him over with a hug, “Oh my gosh thank you so much! And yeah, that’s fair.”
Katsuki froze, before pushing away from you, averting your gaze.
“Whatever, just don’t bother me,” he said.
“Okay, that’s fine. Do you have any extra pillow’s I can borrow? I’d sleep directly on the ground, but it is hardwood, so I don’t think my skull would particularly like that,” you asked, taking in the rest of his room, which was really just a bed, dresser, and some more miscellaneous papers scattered across the room.
“Why the hell would I have extras, I’m not Mina. And don’t sleep on the floor dumbass, you’re going to wake up with bad back and neck pain, and you’re not going to be able to be at your best for when I beat your ass tomorrow,” he said.
Realizing what he had said, you felt the heat rise to your cheeks.
‘Just use his bed? But then, is he meaning he wants us to share?’
The more you thought about it, the more you blushed, so you put the thought away, and made your way into the bed. Thankfully, he only had his desk light on, so you faced the wall to deciding you should be able to sleep just fine like this.
“Oi, scoot over. You’re hogging the bed,” you hear after a few minutes.
‘Wait, what?’
You turned around to face him, confused, but he only gestured for you to move.
Blushing slightly, and glad he had turned the light off, you comply, giving him room to slip into the bed.
“Um, I uh, I thought you were working?” you ask, glad that the two of you were currently facing opposite directions, though it didn’t really help with your nerves.
“I was working. But it’s two in the morning, and I guess your dumbass reminded me to go to bed,” he said, chuckling lightly at the end.
“Oh.”
After a few minutes of silence between the two of you, you felt the draft of his room again, even with the covers. You had known he kept his room cold, but this was just stupidly cold.
“Hey Katsuki?” you called weakly, in case he had already fallen asleep.
“Hm,”
“It’s really cold, do you have any extra blankets, or could you like, change the AC settings?” you ask.
After a moment, you felt him shifting behind you, before feeling him put his arm around you, his body pressed against yours, and sending warmth back towards you.
You couldn’t do anything other than sit there, a blushing mess, and yet again unbelievably grateful that he couldn’t see your face.
“Better?” he asked.
“I-um, uh, yeah,” you stutter out, covering your face with one of your hands, making him laugh.
“Good,” he said, sounding a bit proud of himself for his job well done.
That night, despite everything, you two slept better than you had in a very long time.

“I hope she makes you happy.”
Pairing: Kiri X Reader
Genre: Angst
Warnings: Cheating (for like .3 seconds)
Word Count: 1.3k
A/N: Writer's block is kicking my ass but I’m BACK. Kinda. Also, this is my first time writing for Kiri so this is new territory.
P.S. I love yall
P.P.S This was inspired by this poem <3 http://jessk-borrowed-wisdom.blogspot.com/2011/12/sierra-demulder-unrequited-love-poem.html
You laughed along with your friends as you ate dinner. Everyone was gossiping and catching up on each other's lives. Everything was fine until you heard Tsu pipe up.
“I heard that Eijirou is dating someone now.”
Immediately after saying it, you watched as regret painted her face, and she gave you a remorseful glance. She probably didn’t want you to find out. Not like this, anyway.
Everyone at the table tried to play it off and laugh, but for the rest of the night, all you could do was sit back into your chair and think.
How could he have moved on so quickly?
You continued to think about it even after dinner. Laying in bed you stared up at the ceiling, tears flowing freely. A few ragged sobs leaving your lips.
He didn’t even tell me.
The two of you had broken up about two months ago for reasons that seemed so insignificant now. Though you were separated you kept in contact, remaining best friends. You decided that it would be better that way, or at least that’s what you tried to tell yourself.
Suddenly you felt your phone buzz beside you. You extended your arm to pat the mattress, trying to find your phone in the darkness. Once you’d located it you pressed the power button, squinting at the bright screen.
Kiri: chem test on Wednesday. Study cram session tomorrow night? 💀
Your lip twitched as you typed your reply.
Y/N: You suck. At least make food.
It took a few moments for him to respond.
Kiri: deal. See you tomorrow.
You dropped your phone beside you and clutched your chest. This is what you hated about staying friends. The two of you were so close, yet so far. And it made your stomach churn. Suddenly, you thought back to what Tsu had said and your stomach churned again.
This couldn’t end well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next evening you trudged from your dorm building and over to Kirishima's. Your backpack was heavier than you remembered, and you sighed in relief as you reached his door. You hummed happily as you smelled the food that he was cooking on the other side of the door.
Seconds later the door swung open and you were greeted by the redhead.
“Hey y/n. I was just finishing up.”
You smiled and made your way into the dorm, kicking your shoes off at the door.
From the smell, you could tell that he was making your favorite, but there was another fragrance that you couldn’t quite put your finger on. A sweet floral smell radiated in the dorm room, and it became even more apparent when you sat on the couch. The smell nearly engulfed you.
You pushed the thought aside as Kirishima came over to join you, placing his chemistry textbook onto the coffee table in front of you.
“Please help.” He said jokingly as he plopped down onto the couch. “I don’t think I’m gonna pass.”
You laughed and sat back onto the couch.
“What do you need help with?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About 10 minutes later you had made it through his study guide, and you stood from the couch.
He stretched dramatically and looked over to you with a smug smile on his face. “It’s like I’m a genius or something.”
After giving him an annoyed look you sat back onto the couch and began to relax. Your eyes followed him as he walked back into the kitchen, and hovered over the stove.
“Food is almost done.”
You inhaled again indulging in the smell of the food, but you couldn’t get rid of the floral smell. It quickly dawned on you that it was perfume. Another girl's perfume. Once you put the pieces together in your head, the smell became intoxicating.
“I need to go to the bathroom,” you stood abruptly.
Quickly, you walked into the bathroom and stared at your face in the mirror. Never had you felt so dejected.
The bathroom smelled even more like the sickening floral scent, and it made your stomach turn. All suspicions were confirmed when you spotted a bottle of bath and body works perfume, innocently placed on the sink.
She must stay here often, huh?
Your eyes met a few stray bobby pins, and a pair of earrings before your breath hitched in your throat.
Those must be hers too.
Instantly your mouth became dry, and you felt as if you would throw up. This terrible aching feeling was more than you thought you could handle. Slowly, you brought your shaky hand to the doorknob and twisted reluctantly, going back out to face him.
When you saw his face in the kitchen you gave a half-hearted smile.
“Eji... I really...” your voice hitched in your throat, attempting not to cry. “I really need to go.”
Confusion spread across his face as he quirked his brow, setting down the wooden spoon he was stirring with.
“What why?” His face was twisted with worry as he neared you, studying your face. “Are you okay.”
You broke a bit, making a sound that could’ve been mistaken for a laugh, but instead was a stifled sob.
“No.” Your hand reached for your backpack, and you slid it on swiftly. “I just. I can’t be here. With you. Doing this.”
You spoke in fragments. Not being able to collect your thoughts made you feel even more uneasy.
He had made his decision. He’d chosen her after all. What purpose did you even serve now?
“Please talk to me.” He said softly
“Kiri. There’s nothing to say. Just... please.” You attempted to push past him, not wanting to see his face anymore. If you looked for any longer you were sure you’d cry.
“I can’t pretend like this doesn’t hurt me. Pretending that everything is normal. It hurts me so fucking bad. And you’re so fucking blind you can’t even see it.”
He stared at you sadly but said nothing.
“I love you so fucking much, and I know that you don’t love me and I’m trying. I’m really try-“
Your words were cut short as he closed the gap between the two of you. His lips pressed softly against yours, and he snaked an arm around your waist swiftly.
When he pulled away his eyes were full of tears as well. “I’m so sorry.”
He thumbed your tears away before his hands began to rub your hair gently, slowly running his fingers through it.
At that moment you nearly melted into his arms, loving the way that it felt to be close to him again. Memories of every good time, every laugh, every kiss came rushing back to you. It made you feel like he was yours again.
But this was wrong.
He wasn’t yours.
Not anymore.
You brought your hands to his forearms and pushed him away gently before squeezing his arms gently, almost reluctantly.
“I hope she makes you happy.” Your voice was soft, but in that one sentence, you expressed every emotion you’ve been dying to express. His facial expression was enough to let you know it hit him hard.
Slowly, you moved to gather your things. Hunching your back as you pulled your backpack on. Fighting back tears was the only thing on your mind as you scrambled to put on your shoes.
Kirishima stayed put, watching you with somber eyes.
“Y/n...” his voice was nearly a whisper.
Reluctantly you let your eyes meet his. A choice that you quickly regretted.
“I’m so fucking sorry.”
His face was becoming red and his eyes welled with tears that seemed to never fall. You wished that you could hold him.
A huff of air left your nose as you walked past him and placed your hand loosely on the doorknob. An eternity seemed to pass before you twisted it and opened the door fully.
You gave him a final glance over your shoulder, scanning his face sadly.
“No. I’m sorry.”
As you closed the door behind you the tears began to fall from your eyes freely. Quickly you swiped them away with the palms of your hands, as you trudged back to your apartment.
“I’m so so sorry.”

“You’re so brilliant!”
Rose was still in shock even as James swept her into a crushing hug in the middle of the lecture hall. He’d pinned her arms to her sides, so she couldn’t really reciprocate the embrace. But even if she could, her brain was too wrapped up in the memory of the little red 89%—Great improvement! Well done! that was scribbled at the top of her exam.
“I’m so proud of you,” he crowed into her ear, a little too loudly but she didn’t mind.
Still not completely convinced she wasn’t dreaming, Rose pulled back from his embrace to glance at her exam again. The same 89% was staring back at her.
“How…?”
“Because you’re brilliant,” James said with a decisive nod. “You, Rose Tyler, are a genius.”
“Well, I wouldn’t go that far,” she said, even as a grin stole across her face. “But I am pretty good.”
James rolled his eyes at her and held out his hand for hers.
“This is cause for a celebration. Let me buy you breakfast?”
Rose followed James to the dining hall. When they were settled in one of the few empty tables, James pulled out his iPad and tapped at the screen for a few minutes before his face lit up.
“With this newest exam score, you now only need a fifty-nine percent on your final exam to get a passing grade in the class.”
Fifty-nine percent. That was doable, she hoped.
“What’s your exam schedule like?” Rose asked. “I’ve asked my boss to have off until my finals were over, and she graciously agreed. Hopefully that’ll make it easier for us to find days to meet up, but I don’t want to take away from the time you need to study for your other classes.”
“Chem is my first final,” James replied.
“Mine too,” Rose said.
“The exam is Tuesday morning, so let’s meet up both days this weekend? And then we can use Monday to take practice exams.”
Rose blinked. “How do you have practice exams?”
“Remember, Professor Young said the final is standardized. That means it’s a national exam that the ACS—the American Chemical Society—puts out for colleges and universities across the country. It’s done this for decades, so there are loads of past exams and practice exams on the internet.”
“Oh. That’s helpful.”
“Indeed. Almost every science class uses an ACS exam as their final,” James said. “Hopefully this will help you get the feel for how the exam will go. It’s all multiple-choice, and designed to fit within two hours, so the problems aren’t all that complicated.”
“Maybe for you, they’re not,” she muttered.
His eyes widened when he realized how that came out.
“No, no,” he said hastily. “I merely meant that they problems are designed to take a couple mathematical calculations, is all.”
Rose nodded and continued tucking into her omelet.
oOoOo
During the last week of classes, James and Rose didn’t see much of each other. Rose had a final project in lieu of a final exam in two of her classes, and she was swamped with work as she frantically finished everything that was due on the last day of classes.
But finally, she turned in a painting project and final report, leaving her free to meet up with James to study for their chemistry exam.
Finding a place to study was trickier than normal, as the entire student population was on the hunt for a quiet, secluded room. James, however, knew that the science buildings were fairly empty during exam week, and so they took over a small room tucked away in the basement of the physics building.
“I’ve brought snacks,” James proudly proclaimed when he and Rose met up on Saturday morning to begin their first study session.
To call it ‘snacks’ was an understatement; he’d brought a huge tote bag filled with not only pretzels, crisps, trail mix, and granola bars, but microwaveable meals so that they wouldn’t need to abandon the room for a lunch break. He’d also brought a cooler filled with drinks, as well as his electric kettle and all the makings for tea and instant coffee.
“You’re such a mother hen,” Rose teased, even though she was grateful for all of the food he’d brought.
He stuck his tongue out at her and said, “If you’re gonna be rude to me, I’m not gonna share my food.”
She rolled her eyes. “My humblest apologies. I am forever in your debt and am grateful for the bounteous meal you have scavenged for us. I grovel at your feet and beg your mercy and pray that you share your wealth of sustenance.”
James broke out into peals of giggles that had Rose laughing too. She loved the way her chest warmed at the sight and sound of his happiness.
“I suppose you’re forgiven,” he said after a minute.
“Brilliant!” Rose immediately reached for a tea bag and began to make them both a cuppa.
They saw very little of the outside world for the next couple of days. Rose had never worked so hard at anything in her life, and by the time Tuesday morning rolled around, she was utterly exhausted but determined to get that fifty-nine percent she needed. She refused to let one stupid class get in the way of the rest of her time at uni, or between her and James.
Their friendship was the most important thing to her, and they were right on the cusp of becoming something more. Ever since Thanksgiving, they’d both been aware of the electricity between them, but, true to his promise, James kept their friendship strictly platonic.
But Rose was impatient to get finals out of the way and hopefully go on a date with James. If he still wanted to.
They sat in their usual seats in the lecture hall as they waited for their professor to arrive with their exams. All around them, students were frantically cramming and flipping hastily through their notes in a last-minute study session.
“How are you feeling?” James asked as he twirled his pencil end over end across the table top.
“Okay,” she replied. “I just want this to be over. I never should’ve taken this class in the first place, but this nightmare is almost done.”
James nodded silently but didn’t say anything else. He instead faced the front of the room. Before Rose could ask what was wrong, their professor stepped into the lecture hall and began speaking, telling them to put everything away except for a pencil and calculator.
Minutes later, the exam booklet was passed out, and Rose began filling in her student information. When she was finished with that, she waited impatiently for the professor to tell them they could start.
She watched James out of the corner of her eye. He was on his phone, copying down his student ID number. A moment later, he tucked his phone into the front pocket of his jeans and continued playing with his pencil.
Rose reached over and rested her hand on his thigh. He let out a muffled squeak and flinched.
“Good luck, James,” she whispered, giving his leg a squeeze. “Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me this term. No matter what happens with this exam, meeting you was the best thing to come from this class.”
His face softened and a small smile tugged at his lips.
“For me, too,” he replied, and he reached down and covered her fingers right as the professor told them to begin.
The exam passed in a blur of words and numbers and bubbling in her answer sheet. She was so focused on taking her test that by the time the professor told them time was up and to turn in their exams, she realized James had already left. With a slight headache building behind her eyes, Rose turned in her exam and walked out into the lobby, where she assumed James would be waiting for her.
He was, and when he saw her, he beamed and held out his hand for hers.
Despite the fact that their chemistry exam was over, she and James continued to meet up for the rest of the week to study for the rest of their classes. While they didn’t speak very much, Rose was glad to have his quiet company as she prepared as best she could for her other exams.
The week passed relatively quickly and uneventfully. James’s last exam had been Thursday evening, while Rose’s wasn’t until Saturday. Because there would be nothing for him to do and he would undoubtedly get bored watching her pour over her books, Rose stayed home all of Friday to prepare for her Shakespeare final the following morning.
A few minutes before eight o’clock, Rose stumbled groggily into the classroom along with the rest of her classmates. She wasn’t at all nervous for this exam; it was the class she was doing the best in and one she genuinely liked.
But that didn’t mean she enjoyed taking the test. It was all essay-writing, and Rose’s hand was sore by the time she turned in her test booklet. She flexed it and her shoulders as she walked out of the room, taking care to not let the door slam behind her. She’d made it a step into the hallway when a tall, lean body invaded her personal space.
Before she could reel backward, the familiar scent of soap and laundry detergent pervaded her senses.
“You’re done!” James crowed loudly. He then winced, realizing there were still people trying to take an exam. His voice was much more muted when he said, “Congratulations.”
“Thanks!”
She skipped up to him and wrapped her arms around one of his, hugging it to her chest.
“So. Are you hungry?” James asked.
“Starved,” she said. She hadn’t had time to eat breakfast that morning.
“The university is serving free breakfast until noon to anyone still here. Want to go take advantage?”
“Absolutely!”
Arm in arm, they made their way across campus to the dining hall. It was utterly dead inside; there were two other students milling around the food court and three more sitting at their own tables.
James and Rose each grabbed a tray and loaded it with food. Waffles, eggs, potatoes, sausages, fried tomatoes, flaky croissants. Rose wasn’t sure whether she’d be able to eat everything, but it all smelled incredible, and her stomach was growling nonstop.
Rose found James at the coffee station, filling up his travel thermos. She opted for tea instead. When they were each satisfied with their platters of food, they walked past the cashier with a friendly smile.
“Got any more finals to take?” she asked.
“Nope,” James said, as Rose answered, “Just finished my last one.”
“Congrats to you both. Enjoy the break.”
Rose followed James to a table by the back wall of windows very near to the table they’d sat at the first time James had treated her to breakfast earlier in the semester.
For a few minutes, silence enveloped them as they wolfed down their breakfast. It was all delicious and sated Rose’s hunger quickly.
But even as they both slowed down their eating, James still wasn’t saying much. Instead, he was fidgeting with his thermos, flipping the lid on and off repeatedly.
“You all right?” Rose asked.
“Fine,” he said a little too quickly. He stopped playing with the lid, as though realizing what he was doing. “Have you been on the grade book portal yet?”
“I took a final at eight,” Rose reminded him. “Why?”
“Well…” James’s eyes darted back to the table as he murmured, “The chem final is up.”
Rose’s ears rang and she thought she might throw up everything she just ate.
“Oh,” she whispered faintly.
“Do you want to check it?” he asked quietly.
“I dunno…” Rose kneaded the heel of her hand into her forehead. Did she want to know how she did, or did she want to live in blissful ignorance until her final transcript was released? But surely she’d achieved at least the fifty-nine she needed, hadn’t she? “Can you look and tell me how I did?”
“I could,” he said. “As long as you don’t mind me seeing the rest of your grades.”
Rose snorted. “You literally have a spreadsheet of all of my grades.”
He stuck his tongue out at her. She took her phone out of her pocket and tapped through it to get to her online student portal. She entered her login information and handed the phone to James.
Her heart thudded against her ribs as she watched James flick his finger up the screen. Rose folded her arms on the table and rested her forehead on them.
What was she going to do if she hadn’t gotten a high enough grade? What was she going to do if they revoked her scholarship? Could she plead her case to the university? Tell them she’d made a horrible mistake in trying to take chemistry and that they should put her on probation until she could prove she could keep her grades up?
“Rose!” James’s excited voice was in her ear and his hands were roughly shaking her. “Rose, look! Look! You did it! Look!”
Rose lifted her head cautiously, not quite believing what he was saying. He thrust the phone under her nose, and she blinked rapidly to try and focus on the blur of black letters on the screen.
Final Exam: 72%.
“You did it!”
Rose’s jaw slackened and she grabbed her phone from him.
“Impossible,” she muttered, and she refreshed the page—twice, for good measure. But the little 72% was still there.
“That’s thirteen whole points above what you needed!” he exclaimed, grinning like a loon at her.
He jumped to his feet, then grabbed her biceps and tugged, urging her to stand too. She followed, feeling weak to her knees, but that didn’t matter, because soon she was enveloped in his arms. His comforting scent filled her lungs and she buried her face into his shoulder as he held her fiercely.
“I’m proud of you,” he said, squeezing her. “So proud.”
“I passed,” she rasped, shaking slightly. All that hard work had finally, finally paid off.
“Yes you did! You’re brilliant, you are!”
Rose pulled back to look up into his face. It was bright with joy, and her stomach did a little somersault. She would never have been able to do any of this on her own. And through some sheer luck and James’s unending patience, kindness, and intelligence, she met all of the requirements to keep her scholarship. She could stay at the university.
She didn’t have to leave James, her best friend. She’d never met anyone like him, and nobody had ever made her feel as good about herself as he did. She felt like she was the very best version of herself whenever he was around, and she loved him more than she’d ever loved anyone.
Standing there, with his hands resting at the small of her back, his eyes bright, his mouth curved in a smile, and their bodies invading each other’s space, Rose’s control snapped. Between her promise to herself—that if she passed, she would try to make something with James work—and her almost certainty that James was interested in a relationship with her, it was inevitable.
Their hips were pressed flush together as their arms remained around each other’s waists. As though realizing how intimately they were standing, James’s face flamed red and he pulled his hips back a fraction of an inch. But his eyes were dark as they darted from her lips, to her eyes, then back again.
“Rose…” he croaked.
His voice was breathy and made a thrill of heat shoot from her heart into her belly. He licked his lips, making them shine invitingly. Rose sucked in a trembling breath and, with her heart beating through her entire body, she rocked up onto her tiptoes, settled one of her hands around the nape of his neck, and pressed her lips to his.
He let out a muffled sigh as his muscles relaxed and he melted into her arms. He clutched at the fabric of her jumper, pulling her impossibly closer as he angled his head to the side to deepen the kiss.
Of all the times she’d imagined this—and she’d imagined it embarrassingly frequently—none of it came close to the real thing. His lips were soft, warm, and full against hers, moving in time with her as though they were already familiar with kissing each other.
Their lips danced together, tugging and releasing, chasing and yielding. Nothing had ever felt this good, and Rose never wanted it to stop. Heat sparked down her spine as he let out a helpless whimper when her tongue tentatively probed his bottom lip. She echoed the sound when his fingers tangled into her hair, massaging her scalp as he held her tenderly, reverently.
Oh, God, how am I ever going to stop?
She felt like laughing and sobbing all at once, because this was the most perfect moment in her entire life. The weight of the world flew off her shoulders and it seemed as though it would never settle on her again. Being in his arms was the only place she ever wanted to be and she prayed he felt the same way.
She caressed her hand up his jaw, gliding along the smooth skin before landing in his hair. It was even softer than it looked. She grabbed a handful of it, her nails scraping across his scalp, and he let out a wrenching groan as his entire body shuddered in her arms. Her core ached and throbbed with desire.
Oh, God.
Half a second before she was going to hitch her leg obscenely around his hip, James broke their kiss that was actually probably more of a snog now. Her chest heaved as she struggled to catch her breath; little black dots were swirling in her vision, and she wanted nothing more than to wrap him into a tight hug. And possibly another kiss.
He was deliciously rumpled. His hair was sticking out at all angles and a happy, dazed glint had entered his eyes.
Rose licked her swollen lips and breathed, “All right?”
He nodded quickly, and he reached out to cup her cheek in his palm. His thumb brushed across her bottom lip, and she had to restrain herself not to suck the pad of his thumb into her mouth. Instead, she settled for pressing a quick kiss to it before he dropped his hand to his side.
“Yeah,” he whispered, his voice cracking. He cleared his throat and tried again. “Yeah. I just… I wanted… did you… did you want to do that?”
Rose furrowed her brow as her heart sank a little. “What d’you mean?”
His cheeks were bright red and his eyes darted across her face, then to her lips, then to a far-off point behind her shoulder. They traversed this path several times. He looked terrified and helpless, and something in her chest cracked at the sight.
She reached out and took his hand, hoping to offer him some bit of comfort until he could tell her what he was thinking.
“It’s just… did you want to kiss me like that? Or were you just happy about your grade?”
Rose frowned at him. Did he seriously not know? He had to know. He had to realize she’d been wanting to kiss him for weeks. That she was irrevocably in love with him. That she wanted to spend the rest of her life kissing him and being with him.
“Both,” she said firmly, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. “I’m overjoyed I passed the class, but I also wanted to kiss you. I’ve wanted to kiss you for a while now.”
His face morphed into an expression of utter delight, and she debated her next words for many long seconds. She was tempted to leave it at that, then return to kissing him in the middle of the dining hall, but she swallowed her nerves and said, “You’re my best friend, James. And I know we’ve only known each other for a few months, but I… I’ve fallen in love with you.”
His jaw slackened in surprise and his hand went limp in hers. Her cheeks burned, but she forced himself to keep his stare as she tried to parse through the emotions flitting on his face while trying not to vomit with nerves.
“You… you love me?” he squeaked.
She nodded, and his face slowly bloomed into the widest, most beautiful smile she’d ever seen on his face. The sight of it sent her blood thrumming as hope swelled though her.
“Oh, Rose. I…I…” He reached forward and cupped her cheeks in his palms. His thumb idly stroked her cheeks as he tilted his head down until his forehead was flush with hers. His breath puffed against her lips, and the closeness of him made her eyes flutter shut. “I… I’ve fallen in love with you, too.”
He shifted and hugged her closer, burying his face into her shoulder. Her heart raced at his words, aching with love for him as she held him just as tightly.
“I’d thought maybe you fancied me,” he whispered into her ear. “But I hadn’t been sure if you were just a really affection person who hugged and held hands with her friends all the time. And I’ve tried asking you out on dates, but I would either chicken out or you would stop me. I barely dared to believe… to hope…”
“Believe it, mister,” she teased, taking one of her arms from around his waist to poke his belly. He squirmed and giggled, then pulled back to look at her. His fringe had fallen onto his forehead, and she reached up to brush it back. “I wasn’t sure if you felt the same way, either. Then I worried that if I said something and you didn’t like me like that, it would make studying awkward and uncomfortable. So I’d decided to wait ‘til the end of term, just in case you weren’t attracted to me, I could run away and avoid you for the rest of my time here.”
He rolled his eyes.
“And then I was terrified I wouldn’t pass chemistry. I didn’t want to fall in love with you only to have to move back to London a month later. It would break my heart.”
His face softened, and he leaned down to brush a kiss to her forehead.
“I love you,” he murmured. “So much. I don’t care if we’ve only known each other for three months. You’re my best mate, and I always want you to be my best mate. Even if you’d had to move home again, I wouldn’t have let you go without a fight. Or at least without making sure we would stay in contact.”
“Sap,” she teased, but she couldn’t help the grin that split her face.
He blew a raspberry at her, but then his face went solemn.
“I, er, I should probably tell you. I haven’t really, er, done this before,” he said in a rush, his face flushed pink.
After her initial confusion faded, a lump settled in her stomach. “Was that your first kiss?”
She was mortified. If she’d known that, she would’ve made it gentler, sweeter. The kind of first kiss he deserved to have. And she would’ve asked if it was okay that she kissed him, rather than yanking his face into hers. But for his first time kissing, he was sure good at it…
“No, no, ‘course not,” he said quickly. “I’ve had a few girlfriends, and we’ve kissed. But… but that’s it. None of them were ever serious enough that I wanted to do anything more with. Y’know… anything physical. Never been in love like this before.”
His cheeks had somehow turned redder and he looked uncomfortable and vulnerable.
“I… I’m not really sure how this works,” he mumbled, embarrassed. “Because I want everything with you, Rose. Everything. But I don’t want to muck anything up.”
“It works however we want it to work,” she said simply. “I want to do everything with you, too, but I only if you want it and are ready for it. We can go as slow or fast as we’re both comfortable with.”
His shoulders straightened a bit. “Yeah?”
“Yes,” she said firmly. “That’s what it means to be in a relationship. We’re in this together, James. Together.”
He smiled, his body relaxing. “I like the sound of together.”
She beamed. “Me too.”
“So… d’you think maybe we could get back to the kissing thing?” He towered over her and leaned down far enough that the tip of his nose brushed hers.
“It was rather marvelous, wasn’t it?”
“The best kiss I’ve ever had,” James said honestly.
“Me too,” Rose admitted.
James’s eyes widened, but he looked pleased and slightly smug. Rose rolled her eyes, then pressed herself closer to him until their lips slotted together.
This kiss was gentler than their frenzied first kiss, but the knowledge that he wanted to kiss her—that he loved her!—made shivers rocket down her spine. She trembled in his arms as she looped her hands over his shoulders, scrabbling for any purchase to pull him closer.
He moaned against her mouth as his hands dropped to the small of her back. His fingers clenched and loosened repeatedly into her jumper as they made slow passes up and down her spine. It was as though he didn’t know what to do with his hands. For that matter, neither did she. They ran through his hair, then went to his jaw, then cupped the back of his neck. Anything to keep him close. Anything to keep him kissing her.
His lips moved gracefully with hers. The only evidence that they were new kissing partners was the occasional bump of their noses and missteps when they each went to adjust the angle of the kiss. But it was still perfect, and they each automatically corrected any errors they made.
Rose’s mind was empty of anything except the man in her arms. Her body fizzed with pleasure and endorphins, leaving little room for anything else except for the unending mantra of I love you, I love you, I love you looping through her head.
The words were bursting to escape her mental filter, and she eased them out of the kiss. James’s breath came in choppy pants against her lips; hers wasn’t much better. Her lips felt deliciously swollen, and she licked them, still able to taste him on her tongue.
“I love you,” she said softly, reaching out to rest her palm on his chest. His heart thudded steadily beneath her palm. “I love you, James.”
His breath caught in his throat and he lifted his hand to cover hers. He wrapped his long fingers around hers and squeezed them, then brought her hand to his lips to place a delicate kiss to each knuckle.
“I love you, too,” he croaked. “I’ve never felt this way about anyone.”
“Neither have I,” she admitted.
Something flashed behind his eyes. “Not… not even Jimmy?”
Rose shook her head. “No. I thought I loved him. And maybe I did, as much as my teenaged self could. But you… my God, James. It’s like my body is way too small to contain this. I’m overwhelmed in the best way possible.”
“That’s how I feel.” He ran another line of kisses along the ridge of her knuckles. “I’ve felt like this for so long. I’ve been terrified you might not feel the same.”
Rose couldn’t help but chuckle. “I was worried about the same thing.” Then her brain caught up with what he said. “When did you realize you were in love with me?”
James tilted his head to the side. As he thought, his tongue pressed to the backs of his teeth.
“I think I’d known for a while,” he said at last. “Or I suspected. I don’t entirely know when the transition from ‘friend’ to ‘more’ happened officially; I just know that I loved our study dates and mate dates and wished they were real dates.
“But the point of no return for me was the night you stayed with me on the anniversary of my parents’ death. You stayed with me even though I was miserable company. And you spent the night. When I woke up and saw you asleep on the recliner… I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. I wanted to wake up every day and see you first thing.”
She smiled softly at him.
“Your turn,” he said, pinching her waist lightly. “When did you fall in love with me? It was immediate, wasn’t it? You just couldn’t resist this foxy body and suave, sexy charm, eh?”
He winked roguishly, and Rose burst out laughing. He pouted, but the effect was ruined with the smile creeping across his face.
“After our trip to Philly,” she said when her giggles subsided. “I was looking through the photos we took together and I realized that was the most fun I’d had out with someone in a very long time. And I wanted to spend a lot more time with you outside of studying.
“And then on election night, when I told you about Jimmy, you didn’t judge me for anything.” His brows furrowed, and he opened his mouth to argue. But she placed her finger over his lips. “You’d be surprised how many people wanted to give me a lecture about how I should’ve left sooner than I did. But you… you just listened. And you gave me a hug and didn’t make me feel stupid for anything that happened.”
“I think you ought to rethink your friend choices, if you fell in love with me for common decency,” James huffed, talking through her finger. “Er. Not to be rude or anything.”
“Though that is a teensy bit rude,” she teased.
He stuck his tongue out at her, then licked her finger. She pulled it back with a shriek, wiping the wetness off on her jeans.
“You’re disgusting!” But she was laughing, which softened the reprimand.
After a beat of silence, James asked, “So… since it’s the end of finals and we’ve cleared the air about our feelings, could I take you out somewhere? A date-date. No more mate-dates. Not that you’re not my mate. You’re my best mate. But you’re more than just my mate now and…”
Rose’s chest warmed with affection for the man babbling in front of her. She rocked onto her tiptoes and brushed a kiss to his cheek.
“A date-date would be wonderful,” she said, then she pressed her lips to his once more.

(studyblr ask game) 15, 24, 34, 46
I cAnNoT find the post for these on my blog so I went to find the original and I tHinK i found it so i’m sorry if these aren’t the answers you were expecting, thank you for asking x
15. Class that you’ve always wanted to take but never had the chance?
I’m pretty okay with the classes I’ve chosen up to this point. There are parts of me that regret not taking chem or bio at A-Level but I’m not sure I would have faired well and I’m glad I was able to learn about rocks instead. Besides, turns out they’re not essential for a STEM subject at uni, just have to make up for it with a foundation year.
24. Describe your perfect study environment.
You’d think at this point in my life, I’d know what the answer is. I think it’s one of those things that changes as I learn more about learning and how I do it best.
Right now, though, I’d say somewhere I’m comfortable and alone and it’s quiet inside and outside and not too hot and there’s no distraction besides some instrumental music or lOfi HiPpiTy hOppiTy beAtS tO rElaX/sTudY tO
34. Have you ever thought about becoming a teacher/professor?
Sort of? My general disposition would likely not suit that of a teacher and I lack sufficient ‘people skills’ to realistically consider it, but it’s something that has crossed my mind. I just really like learning, and it has come up in a ‘how can I apply my love of learning to, like, real-life’. So yes, but also no.
46. Do you have pre-test rituals and what are they?
I have to admit, it’s been a while since I have taken a test. There’s a couple of rituals I have, but like they’re not exclusive to exams it’s just like checking where my exam is and then checking again and then making sure and then going early and having everything and checking lots.
I’ve realised in the last few years that cramming makes me feel terrible and more anxious and pretty much has 0 effect whatsoever on my performance so I would just skim read notes/summaries/whatever and go for a walk outside and try not to think about it, even if I’m super unprepared. If I’m super unprepared, it’s the result of weeks/months and a morning before a test isn’t gonna change it y’know.
I can be anxious and outside or I can be anxious inside hopelessly trying to remember information and surrounded by people doing the same. I choose the former.
These answers are long, I’m so sorry. Thank you again for asking.

In this post, I’m going to talk about the study methods that have worked for me and that I learned during my time at UCLA!
(see another post like this about being healthy here)
Short Term Productivity
Use a stickynote/index card and write a couple goals for today only. Don’t write too many or you will feel overwhelmed! Stick it on your laptop or planner or notebook (somewhere you will see it)
Have a whiteboard at your desk and write down things you need to remember (like a simple equation or some vocab)
While waiting for something (the bus, your coffee, the shower to warm up) have something to recite in your head (probably something you already know, but would like to reALLY KNOW)
When you read, try to tie big concepts to things you would remember easily (like acronyms or symbols) like for example i remember gen chem oxidation as OIL RIG: Oxidation is Loss (of electrons) and Reduction is Gain (of electrons) and I remember the first four unordinary hydrocarbons from Me Eat Peanut Butter (lmao): Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane
Longer Term Productivity
Plan out your weeks!!! Plan when you will study on each day of the week and keep track of due dates
Make it a habit to do homework/assignments AS SOON AS YOU CAN (like right after you snack or something after classes)
Try not to think about how long you will study and rather think about the number of topics you will study
Don’t stop until you feel confident in your knowledge OTHERWISE YOULL JUST LOSE IT IT ALL
Keep your notes organized because you never know when something is gonna bite you in the butt again in the future
Review everyday. Like, Serioouslyyyy. It helps a lot.
Read before going to bed instead of being on your phone for 400 hours :C I THINK ITS TRUE THAT THE STUFF YOU READ BEFORE BED STAYS WITH YOU BETTER BC YOU GET TO SLEEP ON IT
Try to keep your area quiet or have only white background noise because if someone is talking about the weather and you’re studying math, best believe you’ll only remember the weather
Reading a Textbook
Most of the time, you don’t need to read the introduction paragraphs.
Read the bolded titles to see what you will be getting into
Before class you can skim lightly!! It will help you not feel lost in class
AFTER CLASS you will now FOCUS YOUR READING ON WHAT WAS SAID IN CLASS because most of the time, class-covered topics ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT! save yoself some time!!
When reading after class, do NOT just read. If you go over something that makes you go ??? in even the slightest way, read it again to understand. Look it up. Do it in THAT moment because you’re gonna forget to do it later.
If you don’t wanna read the whole darn book because ur lazy (like me) or you are cramming, READ!! THE!! SUMMARY!!!
The back of the book might have some seriously useful appendixes
Try not to skip the diagrams and pictures lol they’re there for a reason
Taking Notes in Class
dont be on your phone or whatever during class time Like actually PAy attention because if you learn it now, you won’t have to try to learn it again later (you can be on your phone later)
Take down everything written on the boards FOR SURE because if the professor/teacher thinks it’s important to write it, you better think it’s important too
Be an engaged listener! Don’t let it slide straight thru ur head
Try not to scribble your notes so you can read it later
Make CLEAR HEADERS for the topics so you can find those notes quickly
Def make friends in class in case you miss something on the notes ://
Doing Practice Problems and Homework
Get yoUR HOMEWORK DONE FIRST OF ALL
Homework is seriously a great study tool because your instructor assigned that FOR A REASON (aka it’s prob gonna be tested on)
Try to know what you are doing before you start the homework so that you don’t feel lost as heck doing it
When doing practice problems, if you have the answers, don’t be afraid to look at the answer the first time around if you don’t know how to do it. IVE SELF TAUGHT MYSELF SOOOOO MUCH by just looking at the answer to a question.
DONT RELY ON THE ANSWERS THO
Don’t memorize how to do the practice problems, you should memorize the method of solving the problem and understand each step clearly (and understand WHY you do that step!!!) just in case the test pulls some funky stuff on you
The more you can do, the better. But don’t be sleepy and do them because you won’t really retain anything
Other Random Things
My organic chem professor actually did a funny study on sleep and test scores. He said on his final exam he asked “How many hours of sleep did you get last night?”
and like obviously the more hours of sleep reported, generally the higher the student scored on the exam
SLEEEEPING IS GOOD FOR YOUR LEARNING
WHEN YOU SLEEP AND HIT THE REM CYCLE, YOUR BRAIN PROCESSES THE INFORMATION BETTER and it will really stay with you. So yall need to sleep. Don’t do the all nighters. You won’t remember anything
anyways like nike you should Just Do It
I hope you guys find this useful!! Remember that everyone has different needs and preferences, so take these tips as just tips and not rules!! Experiment with things, see what you like best, see what gives you the best scores.
Good luck with everything~ thank you for reading!

Salutatory Speech.
So as Salutatorian, I was told I would have to write a speech focused on the history... I find that a bit challenging, but here it goes.
A very long time ago, the universe did not exist. There was infinite mass and density, and said universe couldn’t take it, so there was a boom. A big bang of sorts…
Then in the late 90’s and early 2000’s we were born. One of us, in fact, was born on this very day. I want to wish Alicia Hernandez a happy birthday. (sing alicia happy birthday)
So we were born. Our worries were few, but substantial. Two of my personal struggles included catching the next spongebob episode and drinking chocolate milk too fast.
We started pre-school. My only memory from there is getting sick on one too many pigs in a blanket. We met some of our first friends here. Simple times.
2004 - Facebook was created.
2005 - Youtube was created.
Then we started Elementary school. I was at east ridge. Our worries here included getting the last breakfast pizza that was left over because “adam wasn’t here and he would want me to have it.” They included  obsessively cramming for spelling tests, memorizing multiplication facts,  and taking our first TAKS test. TAKS test. Feel old yet?
2006 - Twitter was created
We moved onto 4th grade at SIS… The turf wars began. And for the folks that don’t know, there were two different elementary schools that brought up Kindergarten through 3rd grade. And then these two schools would feed into SIS, Sweetwater Intermediate School. This was our world now. Where we came from defined a person… were you from east ridge, or were you from south east? And I’m ending the beef now, East Ridge was the better of the two. Only kidding! It didn’t matter. There were good things from both schools. I’m just glad that hating and judging people from where they’re from is only something 4th and 5th graders do.
I digress. We’d rack up AR Points ca ching! We’d party like the year we were born… Flamingo fling. Not many worries, but we were still in a hurry, learning about history and Martin Luther King. And those days remained romanticized because again, our biggest concerns only included passing a TAKS test and… our first puberty class.
2010 - Instagram was created
Speaking of puberty, here came middle school. Oh my God. Puberty was like Everyone telling you to look both ways before crossing the street to watch for cars and then a falcon swoops down from the sky and attacks you. Folks I thought that was it for us. As soon as coach Huskey said “Let’s go hit that creek” I recall thinking to myself “yeah I’m going to die in the next few hours.” I found my passion: Band. I also found what I thought was my passion: Football. I remember one day Kiante hit me and I was like “I don’t think I like this very much.” Life got real. Technology took off. We all got phones, social media, iPads. Remember how cool we thought we looked with all of our decent selfies  camwow retro logo in the bottom left? Instagram, Snapchat, facebook, tumblr (lowkey though), Jokebox, iFunny, Youtube, and for the first time, We stopped going to older people for help and we got online and googled it. We were the pioneer generation that was raised by technology. Surrounded by information in the times of our lives when we needed it the most. We began to comprehend the different weights of life. As a middle schooler I pulled a few all-nighters to finish projects and homework… I may or may not have procrastinated on. Our priority list was fine tuned. School and extracurricular were up there now. But memes, relationships, and social media were among them as well.
2012 - Vine was created
Then came High School. lots of smells in high school have you noticed that? The big room smells like shredded tires and hard work and dedication with a hint of Trent tears scattered here and there. You could always tell when bunsen burners were on because the science hall always smelled unpleasant. And Mrs. Melendez’s room when she would burn those Orange Buttercream Scenses that smell like fruity pebbles oh my god.
Smells like the big room, bunsen burners, teen spirit, and those scense’s are the things I think I’ll remember the most.
I learned a few important things in my time in High school that I’d like to share with you.
Freshman year I learned that if you’re unhappy in your situation, you have the ability to change it. Whether it be relationships, extracurricular, or any aspect of life, you can change it. I also learned that social media can be a cruel blackhole, that can distort views, reputations, and relationships. Even more so today. Tread carefully.
Sophomore year, I learned the true value of hard work thanks to Mrs. Judith Brentz. She taught us many valuable lessons, the most important being “how to use our heads for something more than keeping your ears apart.” I also got my first B… Thanks Mrs. Mac. I also got my second B… Thanks Mrs. Brentz. I also learned how to rid my life of toxic people, and for the first time I began to see the world for what it really was. All the variables, and the factors that can play into what, when, why, and how we think the things we think.
Junior year was the toughest for me. Between band, Round 2 of Brentz for chem 2, Coach Mayes, Work, and family…. It taught me that you can’t do everything you want to, and at the same time get enough sleep. I also learned that it’s healthy to rock the boat every now and then. You’ll either get humbled, humble someone else, or if conditions are just right, a healthy mix of the two.
I also learned probably the most important lesson I’ve learned thus far. This applies to everyone listening, Teachers, families, current students, etc. If you don’t get anything about my longwinded speech, please hear this.
My junior year, I stopped worrying about grades, and I started doing the best I could to learn and retain everything that was being taught to me. Numbers are just Numbers. But what we should understand is that we have the world’s most powerful computer between our ears, and once we start using it, we become unstoppable. There are people that will disagree with what I’m about to say, but stop trying ace tests. Stop trying to do the bare minimum to get by. Learn and retain the information, and those good grades will come. I guarantee it. And class of 2018, it’s not too late to apply to your lives. Whether you’re going to college or not, this is a fundamental principle that can be applied across the board, and I encourage you to do so.
Alright back to jokes.
My senior year I learned lots. Like how you can overcook a TV Dinner and still get food poisoning, ruining your chance for perfect attendance that year. Once I started seeing colleges I started learning how a world that I thought was so big is about a whole lot bigger. I learned that if you fall asleep exactly 47 minutes before the first bell, you’ll wake up and be in a sour mood the entire day. I learned that once people figure out that you’re doing a speech at graduation, everyone wants a shout out. I also learned that you can market shoutouts and get a headstart on paying tuition by selling them for a dollar a piece. I also learned that I should've thought of that sooner and not just the night before I gave the speech. Nobody bought shoutouts. (this was what was originally written, but nick gomez bought a shoutout lol)
But our priority list is strict now. When we have to be where and with who? Some of us are paying bills, we have to worry about finances, college tuition, student loans, our next meal, car payments, gas money, textbooks, toothpaste, medical, dental, water, electrical, internet, phone bills. Oh my God I thought I wanted to be an adult but this isn’t what I meant. Of course, those are all things we should be concerned about.
I for one have my priorities just a little bit different
My biggest worries are still catching the latest episode of spongebob and drinking chocolate milk at the right speed.
So welcome. I hope you enjoy tonight's ceremonies. I’m going to wrap this up with a few thank yous, and we’ll get on with it.
Thank you God, for the many blessings you’ve laid upon my life as well as the blessings you’ve given my friends and family. I know I tick you off sometimes, so, I just ask that you’ll bear with me. I’m still learning
Thank you to my dad. You’ve taught me a lot. The most memorable being the wisdom you passed on from my grandmother in heaven… To never take life too seriously.
Thanks momma. You make me laugh like no one else can. And you get me the way no one else can. You can bet everything you say I’m gonna steal and make it my own. I love you.
Marlee, you’re the only one that gets me emotional anymore. I’m so proud of you. I once described you to a friend as a little packet of sunshine that grew arms, legs, and a face, and now you just walk around spreading happiness and joy. I’m glad you made your own path and didn’t follow in my footsteps. I know you’ll continue to make me proud with everything that you do.
Band - Thank you for giving me a place I belong. I’m odd, and yall were okay with it. Without you, I wouldn’t be standing up here.
Directors - Thanks for making me feel at home. I still cant wait to call yall by yall’s first names here in about an hour.
Teachers and Administrators - Thank you for bearing with me. I know I was a thorn in yall’s side from time to time with scandalous assignments and requests. And Mrs. Reyes and Mrs. Little… I made it.
(With the exception of what’s bolded, the other shoutouts made were ad-libbed and did not have a concrete order. I recall thanking other teachers, friends, and family, and shouting out nick gomez, lauren rodriguez, and trini and bell.)
And last but not least, I’d like to thank Jeff Stein and Richard Ferguson for keeping me on their staff after numerous hiccups on 96.7 FM, 1240 AM, KXOX. Good times, great country. For the job opportunity you’ve given me, you helped ease the financial stress that comes from being a poor high schooler, and a soon to be college student. I cant thank you enough.
And in closing. Heed this warning, everyone listening.
We are strong.
We are persistent.
We are mustangs.
We will go on.
We will succeed.
We will prosper.
We are coming.
We are graduating
We are the Class of 2018.
Thank you, and God Bless.
“Salutations” //Trent(on) Hicks. May 25, 2018

First Chem Test...
Hey all! I call myself Skep on here, and this is a place for me to practice science communication and just put my thoughts out there. Speaking of thoughts...
Today I had my first test for my Chem 2 class. And you know what? It was better than I expected! Not as math-heavy as I was led to believe, and I knew the concepts more or less okay. It was on intermolecular forces and solids, with lots of smaller concepts thrown in like vapor pressure, heat of vaporization, packing efficiency, etc. So overall, not bad!
And in the spirit of making this educational, here’s some lessons I took away from the test, having just finished it:
Practice problems are key!
In chemistry, like in pretty much all STEM fields (and even in the social science and humanities to an extent), the key to learning is to constantly test yourself and work on actively recalling the information. That’s the best way to ensure that you’re not gonna get stumped on test day! Practice problems are also awesome in that they help you both practice the math and soldify the concepts. A double win!
No cramming!
Obvious advice, but it bears repeating. If you cram, you rob yourself of the ability to practice recalling the information over a longer period of time, meaning you’re less likely to remember it come finals. Cramming works in the short term (barely) but is not a good long term strategy!
Physical textbooks beat ebooks everyday of the week!
A bit more controversial, but in my experience, physical textbooks have been more convenient and more user-friendly. That’s not to say etextbooks are useless! In reality, use whatever works for you, but I encourage you to look up the deficiencies of your particular textbook format and work with those limitations in mind. Although if you’re interested, the science seems to suggest that physical textbooks are better overall for learning. If people ask, I’ll do a seperate post explaining the science behind it.
Chemistry is not impossible!
Chemistry is one of those subjects that people seem to run in horror from, alongside physics and calculus. Now I don’t know abou the last two, but I promise you that chemistry is not impossible! If you put in the effort, you can and will succeed! You just have to take advantage of all the resources available to you! Science can be really cool if you let it!
That’s enough rambling from me, as Tumblr lags when I type and it is driving me crazy. See you all next time!

hi, cramming right now for my first ever chemistry final- do you have any tips
sorry for the super super late reply anon boo!! i hope you did well on your final, either way here’s my advice for next time or anyone else who’s feeling the chem struggle:
1. redo all your worksheets/practice problems/homework. of course, you need time for this, so if you’re cramming, you’re gonna want to at least go over them quickly and pinpoint any patterns you see, both in the questions and in your answer (so you know where you stumble most frequently)
2. revise your weak spots from this previous analysis. a lot of textbooks have a summary section at the end of each chapter, which is useful for the bits you’re more confident about, but really try to clarify all your doubts before you take the test.
3. scribble as you go along. have a blank sheet of paper besides you to serve as a revision mindmap and jot down any important formulas, concepts or reactions.
4. don’t go to bed too late or pull an all-nighter. i’m saying this because i love y'all and i don’t want your brain to short-circuit after all your efforts. also, be sure to double-check you’ve packed all you need — your (charged) calculator, pens, pencils, etc etc.

for promptis: have you heard of the Hanahaki disease? It's a fictional disease that has the potential for some GREAT angst...
Author’s Notes: I had actually only heard of it in passing, so I had to research a little for this one. I hope I didn’t do it wrong??? orz

Love Blooms
===
It happens the first time on the night of the summer solstice festival, their junior year in high school.
They’re sitting up on top of the parking structure five blocks down from the festival grounds, waiting for the fireworks to start. It won’t be the best view in the city, but it gets them out of the crowds packing the street down below. They’ve done the festival games and the greasy food on sticks already; Prompto’s feet are throbbing with a dull ache from wandering around all day.
It’s nice, being up here above the press of people. There are a couple of other stragglers sharing the concrete overhang with them, but not many. When Prompto turns his head the right way, it’s almost like it’s just him and Noct.
The night’s warm and balmy; the wind is ruffling Noct’s hair. Noct’s face is tipped upward, and his eyes are the same dark blue as the sky, that last gasp before evening fades out into night.
Prompto wishes he could afford that camera he’s been eying. If he had it, he’d snap a shot right now. His whole chest aches, with some indescribable need to preserve this moment.
Noct turns toward him, just a slight angling of his head, and Prompto feels his face flush, like he’s been caught doing something wrong.
“What up with you?” Noct says, with that slanted smile he does so well, and Prompto’s tongue feels heavy, twisted up in knots.
Something’s tickling at the back of his throat.
“Nothing,” says Prompto. “Just want the fireworks to hurry up and start, you know?”
They do hurry up and start. They explode across the sky like someone’s lit the world on fire with magic. The thunder of them blooming covers up the sound of Prompto coughing, and he glances down into his palm, perplexed – wonders how the hell he swallowed a sylleblossom petal without knowing it.
===
Noct finally notices midway through senior year.
It’s the week before midterms, and if Prompto’s going to pass chem, he needs to cram like crazy. So Noct, eighteen now and still enamored of his brand new apartment, says, “Pack a bag and stay a couple days. We’ll buckle down and do some test prep.”
So Prompto packs a bag. His parents aren’t due back for another two weeks yet, so he doesn’t bother leaving a note.
He just slings his duffel over his shoulder and hops a train to Noct’s place. His thoughts are all over on the short ride in the posh elevator, but mostly they keep coming back around to what he’s going to do if Noct wants to share a bed.
Prompto’s figured it out by now; he’s got it bad for his best friend. Even if his waking mind was dumb as bricks, his sleeping mind would have clued him in. His dreams lately have been all Noct, all the time. He’s washed his sheets already three times this week.
That tickle is there in the back of his throat, all the way up the hall to Noct’s apartment. It’s so ever-present he hardly notices it anymore, but he can feel a thick kind of burning in his lungs, now, too. It feels like he’s just run six miles and can’t quite catch his breath.
Prompto reaches out and knocks on the door.
When Noct opens it, the warm light from the living room frames him. He’s smiling, crooked and kind of wry. Behind him, Prompto can see that there’s already snacks set out on the table, waiting for them.
It feels a little like coming home.
Prompto opens his mouth to say something, but suddenly that burning in his lungs is pressure, insistent and smothering. He tries to take a breath, but it wheezes in his throat. He coughs, and once he’s started he can’t stop.
He doubles over, there in the hallway; this time, there’s not just one or two petals. This time it’s dozens, a whole cascade of blue.
Prompto keeps going until he’s dizzy, keeps going until his lungs feel clear and he can gasp for air.
Noct loops an arm around him, holding him steady. He’s asking, voice low with concern, whether Prompto’s all right. His tone is comforting; his body heat feels like a miniature sun, pressed up against Prompto’s side.
Suddenly, Prompto can’t breathe again.
===
“No,” says Noct. “Flowers.”
His voice drifts in from the hallway, through the cracked-open door: one half of a phone call. Whatever this conversation is about, Prompto woke up in the middle of it – so now here he is, lying back in his bed, trying not eavesdrop.
“Yes, I realize how ridiculous that sounds!” Noct snaps. “I’d think it was something out of a kid’s book, if I hadn’t been watching him do it for literal months.”
There’s a pause. Then Noct’s voice comes again – softer, more strained. “I know. I’m sorry.” A pause. “He kept saying he was fine.”
It’s true. Prompto’s been trying to tell himself that for years now. It was second nature to tell Noct, too – grin and suppress the coughing, and try to ignore that his breathing’s been getting worse by the day.
“Because he passed out on the subway this afternoon,” Noct says. “Look, I just – can you come? He doesn’t have insurance, and I can’t get ahold of his parents.”
There’s silence in the hall. Then Noct says, “Thanks, Specs.”
There’s nothing else for a long time. Then, finally, the door creaks open. Noct looks tired. His eyes are red around the edges.
“Hey,” he says. “Welcome back. How are you feeling?”
“Not bad,” says Prompto, but his voice is that breathy whisper that seems to be all he has the air for, these days.
“Yeah,” says Noct. “Well. I talked to Ignis. He’s gonna try and pull some strings to get you in to see the Citadel doctor.”
Before Prompto can even open his mouth to protest, Noct’s holding up a hand. “Just – let me do this, okay? I’m worried about you.”
Noct crosses over to the bed and gives him a weary smile – sets a hand on his. Prompto’s heart kicks into overdrive, and he does his best to offer a smile in return.
“Thanks, dude,” he rasps, and Noct’s fingers squeeze, and gods. Gods, now is the worst time ever for another coughing fit – but he doubles over, hacking and choking, and Noct rubs his back until he’s done.
===
The Citadel doctor doesn’t know what’s wrong with him. Neither does the specialist they bring in from Altissia.
All they know is that there’s honest-to-gods plant matter in his lungs, and it’s screwing with their ability to actually be lungs, and that’s all stuff Prompto could have told them without the hundred and twenty-seven different tests they’ve put him through.
He got to see the x-rays, though, and those were sort of cool. Kinda pretty, like some abstract art piece.
He told his mom that, when they finally got her on the phone. He still feels bad for making her cry.
Prompto’s been sleeping a lot, lately. The cough medicine they’ve got him on is the good stuff, but even with it, he can barely hold it together. When it gets bad, he curls up on his side and presses a pillow against himself, tight as he can. Doctor’s orders, ever since he coughed so hard he cracked a rib.
The only good part of the whole thing is Noct.
They’ve moved Prompto into the Citadel for treatment, so they see each other every day, now. Noct sits by the bedside and holds his hand – rubs his thumb up and down over the knuckles. They watch dumb movies on TV, and sometimes they play video games, and when Noct gets tired of sitting in the chair, he comes and curls up on the bed, right by Prompto.
The doctor won’t give him a number, but there’s probably not much time left.
Prompto can’t think of a better way to spend it.
===
“Hey,” Prompto says, one afternoon, voice barely a whisper.
“Yeah?” says Noct.
Outside the window, the sun’s doing that thing it does just before sunset, when the light’s not quite orangey-gold. Something in Prompto twists at the thought of it. He always kind of wanted to take photos of the view from Noct’s balcony, at this time of day, after he saved up for that camera he wanted.
He guesses he’s never going to get the chance, now.
“I’ve been thinking,” says Prompto, and then he trails off. He doesn’t say anything for a long time.
“Prom?” says Noct.
“I know you’re the prince,” Prompto says at last. “And you can get pretty much whatever you want.”
“What the hell?” Noct starts to say, but Prompto lifts a hand to cut him off, and he falls silent.
“It’s true, dude,” says Prompto. “Just go with it for now, okay?” He stops again. Swallows. “But if you want anything of mine, like – for anything. Just to hold onto. You can have whatever you want.”
Noct’s staring at him, eyes wide and stricken. The look on his face is all naked hurt.
“You’ve still got the spare key, right?” says Prompto. “Just let yourself in. Mom booked passage back from Accordo, but I don’t think – she might not make it in time. So when you’re ready, just, like – just go and take whatever.”
Noct’s hand is clenched around his, so hard it hurts.
Prompto means to add more, but that burning sensation is back in his lungs again. He has to give in – coughs until he’s light-headed and reeling with lack of air.
He’s aware, vaguely, that Noct’s there right beside him. He’s aware of Noct’s fingers, reaching out to thread through his hair – softly, gently, the way you’d soothe a skittish puppy.
It feels nice.
Even after the ache in his lungs eases up, Noct stays there, just petting his hair.
Noct cries, but Prompto doesn’t call him out on it.
===
Noct stays the night.
He’s red-eyed and miserable, face puffy, and when Ignis comes to collect him at the end of the evening, he refuses to be moved.
The bed’s big enough for the both of them – the benefits of being holed up in the Citadel, instead of a hospital – and when the coughing wakes him, Noct’s there to rub his back while he works through it and press a cup of water into his hands when he’s done.
The coughing’s not so bad, though. He feels better than he has in a long time, that night.
In the morning, when he wakes, Noct’s arms are twined around him.
===
The new x-rays come back, and Prompto stares down at them.
He stares up at the doctor.
“What?” he says, dumbly.
“The growth receded sixty-five percent,” says the doctor. “In the past two days. We think it may be a reaction to the new medication you’re on.”
He’s aware of Noct at his side, a warm weight against him. He’s aware of Noct’s fingers twined through his own.
Prompto cries, but Noct doesn’t call him out on it.
===
Within a week, the x-rays show that his lungs are clear. Within two weeks, for the first time in years, he can take a full breath again without any pain.
He can get out of bed again and walk across a room. He goes a full 24 hours without coughing once.
When his mother makes it back from Accordo, he’s well enough to launch himself at her and cling, as hard as he can. She presses kisses into his hair, and promises that his father will be home next week, and rocks him the way she used to do when he was very small.
===
It’s afternoon, and the sun’s doing that thing it does just before sunset, when the light’s not quite orangey-gold.
Prompto’s off bed rest, finally; they’re hanging out at Noct’s place, eating popcorn and playing video games.
The scoreboard in 2 Fast 4 You is still up on the TV, showcasing how he just crashed a sleek red car into hundreds of cheering spectators, but suddenly Prompto’s attention is somewhere else. His gaze wanders from the screen to the window – to the way the light catches the dust motes in the air at just the right angle, turning them to liquid gold.
“Hey,” says Prompto. “C'mere a minute.”
He grabs Noct by the hand – drags him onto the balcony of his apartment. They take seventeen selfies, most with dumb faces, some very few actually decent. Insomnia stretches out behind them, buildings glinting glass and steel, cars no bigger than ants.
When Prompto leans over to show Noct the shots, their shoulders press together. He’s suddenly, painfully aware of how close they’re standing.
Noct’s face is bare inches from his own.
Noct’s lips are parted, just a little.
Noct leans down to kiss him, and in the instant before their lips touch, Prompto just has time to think how lucky he is.

Salutatory Speech.
Salutatory Speech.
So as Salutatorian, I was told I would have to write a speech focused on the history… I find that a bit challenging, but here it goes.
I also learned that I should’ve thought of that sooner and not just the night before I gave the speech.
So welcome. I hope you enjoy tonight’s ceremonies.

Easy Stealing From Silver Rush Guns!
When you walk into Silver Rush, a man named Simon should ask to take all your wepons. Respond by doing what he says. After you walk into the store, DO NOT GO PAST THE GAURDS! They will kill you. Wait for the man in the store to die and the other leave. Go up to the lady at the counter and ask for a job. She will put you on gaurd duty outside with Simon. Listen to these next parts. DO NOT LET ANYONE IN WITHOUT PATTING THEM DOWN OR SIMON WILL KILL YOU. After you’ve done that, go back inside for more work. Ask the ladie at the counter about other stuff to. (It dosnt matter what you ask. ) Finally, when it seems like youve been trusten by them (not shown on pip-boy), there should be a back door next to the armored window. Open that door, and there should be two doors on the right. Open both of those. Doe not steal them in front of them. Click the right thumb-stick on any gun or ammo and look up. If you did this right, you should have picked it up (hanging in mid-air). Now go to the back room and go to the first room on the right. Save the game and then steal the wepon or ammo. You do not loose any Karma when you steal from this store. It may take a while unless you played Fallout 3.
Tesla Armor
You can get the Gannon Family Tesla Armor during the personal quest for Arcade Gannon. When doing his quest and gathering all his allies, convince him to stay in Freeside for the entire battle. You need an INCREDIBLY high speech ability — at least 80 speech. As a reward, he gives you the Gannon Family Tesla Armor, including the helmet. To wear it, you’ll need power armor training.

Chem Recipies!!!
I was doing the side quest “Aba Dabba Honeymoon” and learned that you can make certain chems. The requirements are as follows:
Rocket (a form of Jet)- Science 50, 1 Box of Detergent, 1 jet, and 1 Nuka-Cola
Party-Time Mentats (Form of Mentats)- Science 50, 1 Honey Mesquite Pod, 1 Mentats, 1 Whiskey
Slasher (Form of Psycho)- Science 50, 2 Banana yucca fruits, 1 psycho, 2 stimpaks
Hydra- Survival 75, 1 Cave Fungus, 2 Nightstalker blood, 1 radscorpian poison gland
Turbo (Must choose recipie as reward from Aba Daba Honeymoon)- 1 broc flower, 1 cazador poison gland, 1 jet, 1 turpentine
If you have a mentats addiction, Party- Time Mentats will help, Rocket will help with a jet addiction (so will Dixon’s Jet if you’re poor), Slasher will help with a Psycho addiction and makes you take less damage.
Bramhen Tipping
Go to one of the bramhen things crouch BESIDE it and tap the shoot, or (x) button.
The REAL Way To Get Power Armor Training
Alright as I’ve seem from the comments on the other guys way to get the training, some people are a bit confused. First off, the other guy was right bout there bin a way to get it from the BoS but its a lot more work than what he told you. This way is much faster. Now I hate to be a downer, but you’re gonna want to wait till you are level 20 because that’s when you get the explorer perk and its HIGHLY important. Remember my last post in which you had to have confirmed bachelor perk? Well you’ll need it here as well. If you jead to the old mormon fort in freeside, there will a male doctor by the na, e arcade gannon. When you talk to him, you’ll notice he’s not exactly a people person. However, the conf. Bach. Perk will give you a new speech action. I don’t remember it word for word, but follow it through. Once he becomes your companion, you’ll have to take him to the crashed vertibird. Good luck finding ot without explorer perk. Itll b in the lower section of the map. Now I wuld recommend having a stealth boy and some pilse grenades b cuz the place has btween 10-15 robots, majoritu of which are the big dudes. Once you kill them all, walk down to the vertibirs and grab the tesla cannon. Wait there toll gannon comes to you and brings up a conversation. After he does, fast travel somewhere to kill time. He will talk to you again, however this time, the talk will give you a quest in which you re-unite the remnants. DO THIS QUEST! Sometime during the end of the quest, you’ll be asked whether you want the remnants to aid the NCR or caesars legion. If you aid the NCR one of the remnants will talk to you outside the war room. He will attack. Yes ull hav to kill but no worries the go other guys won’t attack. An older lady will offer their “gift” which indeed is combat training.

Easily Get Rich!
When you start a new game and rate your S. P . E . C . I . A . L . Attributes, make luck an 8 or 9. I don’t care what your other attributes are. Complete the quests that lead you to New Vegas. As for all the guns you use on the way there, use the guns you find and get off enemies. By the time you get to Vegas, you find you need 2000 caps to get into the strip. Sell most of the stuff you fond along the way to Vegas. Oh, and by the time you get to Vegas you should be at least level 6. If you are lower, it doesn’t matter though. Once you are in, Victor will talk to you about going to the Lucky 38. Don’t do this yet, as the quests won’t earn you as much money. End the conversation, and head into any casino, such as The Tops, Gommorah, or the Ultra-Luxe. Your high lucks means you can easily win in blackjack, the game I recommend you play. Bet as high as you can, 200 caps, and you can win alot. By the time you get banned from all of the casinos, you will have made around 40000 caps! Except it will still take awhile, and be sure to save after you win every 600 to 800 caps.

First you are going to have to go to hidden valley and find the brotherhoods bunker (it has a tree stump on top of it). They might not let you in so easiest way of getting in is to get Veronica as a companion (she’s at the 188 trading post). Accept her the first time you ask or you can’t do it again then go in the bunker and talk to the elder find the missing paladins (bring a lot of stimpacks when you go near the boomers). After talk to the and talk to the scouts. Finally do the quest still in the dark and go to the vaults and get parts. (requirement: 50 repair and 75 lockpick) also if you go and talk to the boomers and help them in the quest volare! You can get a rebreather which allows you to breath underwater.
Repair ANY Piece Of Armor Or Weaponry For FREE!!!
This cheat works best if you are just starting up a profile or are at least below level 14 due to the fact you require the perk where you are more “liked” by males out of combat and do 10% to males in combat. Also ensure that your “shunned” or higher in your friendship with the NCR or you will be attacked on sight and will not be able to do this.If your a higher lvl, you may want to do the cheat listed on this page involving old ben 4 infin EXP. Now, I would suggest you choose the perk as soon as you can. Next, ull want head to the mojave outpost. (NOTE: if this area is not already on your map marker, you NEED to complete the quests in primm and NCR Correctional facility. Along the way sumbody will reavel the outpost on your map. ) heres where the perk is important. Go through the main gate of the outpost and turn right into the buling. When you get inside, there will be an NCR trooper bhind the desk will sum speech actions. Do whatever actions invoke friendlyness. It will say the name of the perk next to the action. If you see the action that says, “so are you saying you dnt wanna be friends or. ” (*yes the dots are ACTUALLY part of the action. ) after befriending the trooper go to his “repair items” action. Heres the annoying part. If you read his responses in the later part of the conversation, he said that as long as you have the required amount of caps to repair the wepon/armor, the money will be put back into your pocket. In other lets say a piece of armor costs $8, 000 to repair and you have $7550. Ull need to get that $450 or you wont be able to repair the armor. If you do have the rite amount of money, you can just go in the repair menu and click away because no matter how many items you repair you leave that menu with all them caps still jingling in your pockets.

Indiana Jones Reference
There is a fridge south-west of goodsprings. If you have the wild wasteland perk, you will find a skeleton and a fedora that seems to bear extreme resembelence to Indiana Jones’ hat. It is very obviosu that this is a reference to the scene from Indiana Jones in which he survives a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge. The skeleton obviously makes note of the fact that doing so in real life is impossible without nothing short of death. The fedora is a pretty nifty find; not exactly the most common thing to find in a nuclear wasteland. Never forget to pick it up.

So I need advice I'm taking a 5 month long chem class in the fall and the chem that is being taught is (Intro to gen chem, OChem, and Biochem) When I was talking to my counselor about it he seemed worried for me so now i'm scared. Do you have any advice on how to get an A in this class? Study habits? Test Skills? The advice with ANAT helped a lot and I clutched a B (I also forgot to mention I'm trying to be a tutor for Prenursing students so I can help other people out)
Oh geez that is a HEAVY class! You will definitely learn a lot!!
Study habits are gonna sound generic but they really do work: keep up with your studying! DO IT EVERY DAY! You really don’t want to be falling behind because topics build upon one another. Pay attention to details in class, keep up with assignment due dates because the small points for homework and things really do add up for your final grade
Test skills include making sure you study hella early for tests so you aren’t cramming the night before or not getting sleep. In my opinion. when I’m sleep deprived I really can’t function lol so I give myself time to study. I can’t even stress how important this is; just this last week (finals week for us) i had been studying for all my finals since a week before but my friend started studying just one day before and he was so stressed. He didn’t sleep and didn’t do as well as he wanted on the final. I think this is a prime example of how important it is to give yourself time to study for tests D:
Also make sure you understand the goals of the class. In reality we should just be learning content and material, but honestly in order to ace the tests we gotta understand how the class wants you to answer questions. Try to understand the main important points and familiarize yourself with the format of the test. This way, you will be comfortable when taking the test and not surprised by weird formatting!!
Good luck and I hope you do well in the class :)
