The Glory of the LORD Returns to the Temple
1 And he led me to the gate, the gate that faces eastward. 2 And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. And His voice was like the sound of many waters. And the earth shined with His glory. 3 And it looked the same as the vision which I saw, even according to the vision which I saw when I came to destroy the city. And the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar. And I fell on my face. 4 And the glory of the LORD came into the temple by the way of the gate whose view is eastward. 5 And the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner chamber. And behold, the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
6 And I heard Him speaking to me from the temple. And standing by me was a Man. 7 And He said to me, "Son of man, the house of Israel shall no more defile the place of My throne, and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel forever; neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the dead bodies of their kings in their high places. 8 When they set their threshold by My threshold, and their doorpost by My doorpost; and the wall between Me and them, they have even defiled My holy name by their abominations which they have done. And I have consumed them in My anger. 9 Now let them put away their whoredom, and the dead bodies of their kings from Me, and I will dwell in their midst forever.
10 You, son of man, show the house of Israel the temple, so that they may be ashamed of their iniquities. And let them measure its pattern. 11 And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, the form of the house, and its arrangement, and its exits, and its entrances, and all its forms, and all its ordinances, and all its forms, and all its laws, make known to them. And write them before their eyes, so that they may observe all its form, and all its ordinances, and do them. 12 This is the law of the temple. On the top of the mountain is all its border, all around it is most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple.
13 And these are the measures of the altar by the cubit. The cubit is a cubit and a span; even the base shall be a cubit, and the width a cubit, and its border by its edge all around shall be a span. And this is the upper part of the altar. 14 And from the base on the ground even to the lower ledge shall be two cubits, and the width one cubit. And from the smaller ledge even to the greater ledge shall be four cubits, and the width one cubit. 15 And the altar hearth shall be four cubits, and from the altar hearth and upward shall be four horns. 16 And the altar hearth shall be twelve cubits long, twelve wide, square in its four sides. 17 And the ledge shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen wide in its four sides. And the border around it shall be half a cubit, and its base a cubit around. And its steps shall face eastward."
18 And He said to me, "Son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, 'These are the ordinances of the altar in the day of its being made to offer upon it burnt offerings, and to sprinkle blood upon it. 19 And you shall give a young bull for a sin offering to the priests the Levites, who are of the seed of Zadok, who approach Me to minister to Me,' says the Lord GOD. 20 And you shall take of its blood and put it on its four horns, and on the four corners of the ledge, and on the border all around. So you shall cleanse and purge it. 21 You shall also take the bull of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the temple, outside the sanctuary.
22 And on the second day you shall offer a kid of the goats without blemish for a sin offering. And they shall cleanse the altar as they cleansed it with the bull. 23 And when you have finished cleansing it, you shall offer a young bull without blemish and a ram out of the flock without blemish. 24 And you shall offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering to the LORD. 25 Every day for seven days you shall prepare a goat for a sin offering. They also shall prepare a young bull, and a ram out of the flock, without blemish. 26 Seven days they shall purge the altar and purify it; and they shall consecrate themselves. 27 And when these days are expired, it shall be that on the eighth day, and forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings before the altar, and your peace offerings. And I will accept you,' says the Lord GOD." — Ezekiel 43 | A Faithful Version (AFV) Holy Bible, A Faithful Version © 2020 A Faithful Version. All Rights Reserved. EZEKIEL S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 10
Friday, 5/26/23
SCRIPTURE:
Then the glory of the Lord rose from above the cherubim and moved to the threshold of the temple.  The cloud filled the temple, and the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the Lord.  ~ Ezekiel 10:4
OBSERVATION:
The cherubim moved to the threshold of the temple - to give the cloud "room" to fill the temple...
Does He fill my "temple" - my heart and life - as He ought?
Do I give Him enough room to fill my life?
Or just enough room to say He's there...
The radiance - the brightness or light / sending out rays of light / exceptional brightness
...as opposed the shadowy darkness I try to hide in...
The glory - great beauty and splendor / magnificence / the praise
Is my life full of His radiant glory?
Do I "radiate" the "magnificent, great, splendor" of the Lord in my life?
Does my life offer the praise that surrounds Him?
If not...
APPLICATION:
Move to the threshold - the sides - get out of His way...
Allow Him to fill - to overflow - my thoughts, words, actions...
PRAYER:
Magnificent Father God - I ask forgiveness for not stepping to the side - to the door - to allowing You to completely fill my life, and thank You that Your Holy Spirit continues to remind of the ways in which I stand in Your way... May I say as Jesus did, not my will, Father, but Yours... In His Name, and for Your worshipful greatness and praise...
For Him, for y'all, for y'all's...𝒈

Isaiah 60: From Darkness to Light
“Arise, shine, for your light has come,     and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” Isaiah 6:1 (NRSVUE) #Isaiah60 #GloryofGod #UnveiledFaces
Light Has Dawned Imagine you’re sitting on a hill in the dark right before dawn, and then you see the sun rise over the horizon. Imagine that feeling, as the new day begins, and you begin to see the sky take on color, and the details of the landscape around you. That is something of the feeling here. “Arise, shine, for your light has come,    and the glory of the Lord has risen upon…

One of my favorite takes on Frodo, and why I value him so much as a character: unlike so many central characters in fantasy, he was not a Chosen One.
Instead, he was the One who Chose, and that made all the difference.

Romans 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! “For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has become His counselor?” “Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?” For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen

I keep thinking about how from all of the Dead Three' Chosen, Gortash is the only one offering an alliance, and why is that.
It stirs from their goals, I believe.
Orin's ultimate goal is Bhaal's goal, i.e. the destruction of the world.
What is Ketheric's ultimate goal I know not, but I suspect his ultimate goal has been achieved already - Isobel is alive, and now all what's left for him is to serve Myrkul for the miracle of bringing his daughter back.
Gortash's goal is world domination. And, as we could see in Control the Elder Brain ending, world domination is a...lonely thing.
In the end there is no one but you and your army of thralls. No one to see you shine, no one to bask in your glory.
And if there's no one to see you rule, then are you even ruling?
I think of Jaheira's comment about what "of course Gortash is genuine, he needs someone to bask in his glory".
And this is why he ultimately seeks an alliance with Tav/Durge, this is why he specifically requires his ally to be his equal.
Because, maybe subconsciously, but he knows what the power he seeks is a lonely business. And he wants, no, needs someone to witness his greatness, someone he can share it with, someone who could GET it.
He genuinely plans to share his rule and power with another person because he needs someone - equal to him - to see and acknowledge his success. That's why, ironically, he can be a legit ally if your actions and goals do not contradict his.
This is why it's "our tyranny".
And that's so fucking sad.

Let’s talk about Mt. Gelmir
Tumblr media
Mt. Gelmir is one of my favorite locations in the game because of its striking environmental storytelling… the minute you start exploring the slopes of the volcano, you can just FEEL that something awful happened here. The imagery is so potent that I wanted to go through every detail of the region and explore how it supports and expands the story we’re told through dialogue and text. Let’s start with the text on the Mt. Gelmir sword monument:
Tumblr media
“The Assault on Volcano Manor
The squalid, the sick, the blasphemous;
A wretched, unending war with no glory”
This dismal description refers to Leyndell’s attack on Praetor Rykard’s forces at Volcano Manor. After the Shattering war broke out, Rykard declared his intention to take up arms against the Erdtree itself: this was not just treason, but blasphemy, marking him as “an enemy, never to be forgiven.” We can conclude that Rykard’s blasphemy was so unacceptable that Leyndell made it a priority to silence him as quickly as possible, sending an army straight to his doorstep. I believe it’s implied that Rykard had the Mt. Gelmir Minor Erdtree burned as his first act of blasphemy; we find the tree destroyed amidst a smoking ruin:
Tumblr media
The assault on Volcano Manor, introduced to us by Gideon Ofnir as “the most appalling battle in the entirety of the Shattering,” was the site of some of the most horrific violence in the entire story. Traveling around Mt. Gelmir, we can observe the gruesome aftermath of the battle and the remnants of the armies continuing to struggle — some scattered groups of Leyndell soldiers remain, while the only troops left to Rykard are his marionettes and iron virgins, since his knights have long since deserted him after his hideous transformation. (Side note: I love the detail that Rykard uses marionettes and avionettes, which were “crafted to serve the sorcerers;” it further cements his identity as a sorcerer and his connection to his Liurnian heritage.) Despite having no real soldiers though, Rykard’s grim constructs seem to tear through the remaining soldiers of Leyndell with ease, which we can observe in real time:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The death toll of this conflict cannot be overstated — the slopes of Mt. Gelmir are literally piled high with bodies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Within a pit of corpses, we can find the spirit of one of Rykard’s men, who says this:
“Lord Rykard… If this putrid field of death is what your blasphemy would bring, then I can no longer abide. No one can.”
Tumblr media
These unspeakable horrors are enough to make Rykard’s followers question if the cost of resistance is too high a price. Leyndell’s armies are just as badly affected — stranded on the mountain with no hope of reinforcements, we can observe several soldiers feasting on the bodies of their fallen comrades:
Tumblr media
These soldiers have long abandoned any hope of achieving glory, and are little more than mindless husks at this point. Furthermore, if we return to the sword monument, something you’ll notice as you make your way over is that there are several Leyndell soldiers who are affected by the frenzied flame. At the same time, the troll soldier guarding the door to the Manor is also affected by the frenzied flame:
Tumblr media
The frenzied flame is affecting soldiers of both sides of the conflict here, which tells me it wasn’t being used as some kind of weapon, but that it took hold independently… I believe that the frenzied flame was embraced by the soldiers here due to the sheer hopelessness of those who have experienced this uniquely horrific battle. The ethos of the Three Fingers is essentially that the world is full of unendurable pain, so it must all be melted away so no one will suffer ever again: “the Greater Will made a mistake. Torment, despair, affliction... every sin, every curse. Every one, born of the mistake. […] Those who gave me grapes howled without words. Saying they wished they were never born. Become their lord. Take their torment, despair. Their affliction. Every sin, every curse. And melt it all away.” (Hyetta)
The soldiers who fought on Mt. Gelmir have experienced untold suffering, the very worst of humanity… it makes perfect sense that such people would be susceptible to the essence of the frenzied flame; to want to burn this tormented world to the ground.
