Be he fan or mutual, be he foul or clean,
brood of Morgoth or bright Vala, Elda or Maia or Aftercomer, Man yet unborn upon Middle-earth, neither law, nor love, nor league of swords, dread nor danger, not Doom itself, shall defend him from Fëanor, and Fëanor's kin, whoso hideth or hoardeth, or in hate watcheth, watching keepeth or afar streameth The Tolkien LOTR Amazon show. This swear we all: death we will deal him ere Day's ending, woe unto world's end! Our word hear thou, Eru Allfather! To the everlasting Darkness doom us if our deed faileth. On the holy mountain hear in witness
and our vow remember, Manwë and Varda!

Continuing to have a deep and truly violent hatred of Rings of Power that only gets worse the more I see of it. Genuinely I am so sick of people pretending that the show did anything interesting with the material given how apparent it is that they cared very little for the quality of just about everything but some of scene pieces. I can’t get over how awful the costuming is and how deeply I despise so much how they interpreted the Second Age.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK 2,5
Short this time.
Ahahahahahahhahaha. O Sun above, burn my eyes away from this sin. Are those really supposed to be Hobbits?

So glad its just a fanfiction and even now I already imagine how tremendously this will backfire and oh, the backlash. Can't wait for it.
Seeing this, I'm just going to join Melkor over there. Not that creators of this abomination even know who Melkor is, of course.
But it is in Second Age, so good guy Sauron it is.

Holy shit, some people are still ardently defending amazon’s stinking shitheap that is ‘rings of power’ as being ‘true to tolkien’ and... ugh.  It usually takes nothing but a casual browse through their opinions to see the glaring idiot-takes that go into informing such a viewpoint and it’s always invariably the same old takes.  No amount of contrived bullshit, fucking stupid plot point stacked upon fucking stupid plot point along with a frankly cringeworthy script all justified by *checks* misquoting J.R.R. Tolkien and shitting on Christopher Tolkien can obfuscate the fact that it’s just shit television.   A shoddy, cringeworthy story that could have been generated via machine learning trained on online trends.  It doesn’t matter if you literally spend a billion USD polishing a turd, it still remains a turd.   And where does their loathing for Christopher Tolkien come from?  Is it just because he respected his father’s clearly stated intentions and wishes regarding adaptions until the day of his death and these people don’t like that? It can’t be that simple can it?    *shakes head*  I mean, feel free to enjoy it if you like, but you’ll eventually have to admit quality isn’t subjective and if that’s the flavour of shite you enjoy, then who am I to stop you?  Just don’t go around telling others that it smells of roses.  It would have been fine (not good, fine) if it were just generic fantasy, might even be watchable, but if you’re going to adapt Tolkien certain standards are important and missing them so egregiously fully warrants it being labelled for the beforementioned polished turd it is.

Do you ever think about how Tolkien’s vision of the greatest evil in the universe was something he referred to as “The Machine” which was his way of talking about accelerated industrialism and mass surveillance and he wrote multiple books where the main villains were a dragon who sits on a huge pile of treasure that he never intends to use but incinerates anyone who comes near it, a man in a giant tower who’s wrecking the environment with his factories, and an evil being who uses what’s essentially a listening device to control the citizens of middle earth. And now Amazon is making a Tolkien show. Do you ever think about that.

You know... I really thought I was crazy about how ROP's costumes look so shitty until I came across pic below of this character and saw she's actually wearing a long-sleeved shirt underneath her chestplate with the exact same gold scale design printed on.

Remember folks, the budget of this show is half a billion dollars compared to Peter's Jackson Lord of the Rings 250 million budget released twenty years ago and still looking beautiful.

Be Not Afraid
Danny's forms were pretty stable in the Infinite Realms, and well, his own dimension. The problem was when he had to run certain errands elsewhere (Clockwork's fault) and the universes didn't know where to put him.
Despite having two defined forms in his original dimension. The other dimensions seemed to decide that Danny didn't need that, and his humanity had to go, or something. The halfa couldn't understand it.
So of course, he ended up looking very amorphous and strange when he traveled to other dimensions. Sometimes with multiple eyes, at other times his body was made of pieces of ice, there were times when he was just a toxic green eye that glowed and blinded whoever saw it. The only thing that remained constant was that he didn't look human. Which made most of his tasks difficult. People feared the unknown after all.
When he arrived in the DC universe he didn't expect a welcoming committee. He even told them "Be not afraid" the moment he landed on a crowded street, but apparently that was counterproductive, since they classified him as some kind of avenging angel.
With a sigh, Danny kept exploring and the strangest things happened to him: Two glowing rings chased him everywhere (One was black and the other was white, but he had a feeling that taking them wouldn't be the smartest move, the ring and the crown were very jealous since he was crowned after all)
And a British magician... flirted with him? Danny was pretty sure the hellbazer was seeing him as eyes and ice floating but that didn't seem to stop him from trying. The halfa didn't know if he was flattered or worried.
Anyway, he couldn't find Dr. Fate, nor "Justice League Dark", whatever it was. But the wizard, Constantine, was willing to take him on a date. The rings continued to follow him while some people with green rings looked in the background (they looked strangely scared) and a new religion had been created for "The Great One" which reminded him of Frostbite.
Traveling was hard.

Like, listen. Listen, okay. The moment I learned they were making Galadriel's character revolve around needless revenge over a man (her brother who is currently happily traipsing across Valinor because that's how death works for elves) I was already mad enough to never touch RoP with a ten foot pole
But this? Taking one of her most iconic lines and attributing it to Sauron? I am livid.
The real Galadriel, the book Galadriel, was always an ambitious woman. She left Valinor to rule a realm of her own, to shape a land the way she thought right. She watched her male relatives do shit and was like "I can do better" and that's what she did
She was driven, intelligent and gifted, she was one of the greatest things that ever happened to the elves, and it all came from herself.
But now they changed her story. This Galadriel isn't traveling Middle-earth to find a place for herself, she's traveling it to avenge a man who doesn't need avenging. And then Sauron pops up and tells her she could be a queen "stronger than the foundations of the earth"? The line she originally said about herself?
The way this is all set up makes it look like a man planted the idea in her that she could be a queen, a man tempted her into becoming a queen, and then continued to tempt her until she refused the ring.
Her whole thing in the books was overcoming the temptation of power and choosing what was right and good. But it wasn't the ring that she needed to beat, she needed to overcome the desires and ambitions inside herself that the ring was using against her
She was her own greatest enemy and she won.
But now they made it all revolve around a man. A man gave her the idea, a man tried to tempt her, a man is who she quotes when she's overcoming temptation...
Do I really need to spell out why the story of a woman whose biggest enemy is herself being changed to so heavily focus on a man's effect is bad? Do I really??

Watching people seriously ship romantically Sauron/Galadriel in the Rings of power knowing full well that he is the ORIGINAL Mansplain, Manipulate, Manslaughter and that he is manipulating the whole audience too into believing he has actual feelings and not just a thirst for power and corruption of pure souls:

Recovering from the psychic damage after trying to watch that polished turd that is amazon’s rings of power.  It baffles me people think this is good, but then again, some people liked the Hobbit movies which just proves that discernment is something that’s developed and those who’ve never read the books/somehow missed their meaning and core concepts can probably never understand just how bad this is.  It’s just so *basic* on a creative level and I can’t help but remember that Tolkien, throughout his life, spent a LOT of effort trying everything he could to ensure shitty adaptions that don’t come near understanding the source material don’t happen.  Adaption entropy is an issue with even the best example of such and this is so far from that that it makes me physically nauseous.  Like wtf is this shit? =/.   And today, with the anniversary of his death merely a day before, its especially relevant.
