Grace on the ice (Christmas Café 2022 submission)

Fandom: Food fantasy

Genre: Can be read as either romantic or platonic, fluff i think

"Master attendant be careful, no one wants you to fall on the ice." Brownie said as you held onto him for support. It was your first time ever ice skating and despite living in a area where it snows and water turns to ice you never had the courage to do it. At the very least not by yourself. The whole reason you're even doing this was because of Ichi and Olivia's insistence, some of your food souls were also curious of what it would be like to ice skate. It was funny, some of the food souls already knew how to iceskate but some of them were falling on their faces. The only ones you were really worried about were the younger ones as you didn't want them to hurt themselves. You sighed, your breath ending up as a cold cloud before you and steadied yourself once again. You felt slightly reassured as brownie was right next too you to catch you if you were to fall, while you haven't ever ice-skated before brownie has. You on the other hand, sadly didn't. "Alright," you paused slightly looking for a place you could try to skate too on the ice. "Let's do this." Brownie nodded as he skated forward, still holding onto you. Though you were filled with anxiety you followed brownies lead, though he wasn't amazing at it he was doing a great job at making sure you don't fall over even on a icy surface. Not even a second later your anxieties vanished as you focused on other things, such as how beautiful the ice looked, or maybe how much fun everyone else was having. You subconsciously let go of brownie and stabilized yourself on the ice and started generally skating around, you smiled knowing that you were starting to get the hang of it. Brownie slightly smiled and skated at your pace, staying by your side just incase he needed to catch you. You giggled and started putting more energy into the ice-skating, "this is actually kinda fun! I don't know why i didn't try this sooner." Brownie nodded not saying anything in response. --

You sighed as you wiped your sweaty forehead with a rag that brownie had on him. Though ice-skating is fun, it's definitely energy draining. You took your ice-skates off and put your snow boots back on, placing your ice-skates on the side of the bench you were sitting on. Remembering brownie was probably still awaiting your next course of action you looked up and were about to say something but you held your tongue as you saw brownie on the ice. You could only look in amazement and awe as you saw brownie gracefully skate around on the ice, doing spins and flips like it was nothing. After awhile the food soul stopped and took a deep breath looking over to your direction. "Brownie.. THAT WAS AMAZING!" you shouted as you ran over, your eyes practically sparkling with admiration. Brownie seemed shocked for a few moments as he came up with a response. "M-Master attendant it isn't anything that special." You shook your head at those words. "What do you mean it isn't anything special?! You skate amazingly! You would definitely make it as a pro figure skater!" Brownies face flushed in embarrassment as he looked away while you giggled at the food souls sudden flusterment. "C'mon, i wanna see more of your awesome skills! I'm sure you can do a lot more with a bigger space to work with. C'mon lets find a bigger pond!" The food soul didn't have time too say anything before he got dragged off by his young and rowdy master attendant to go find a new pond.

Was listening to Goodbye by Bo Burnham, and it kinda gave me B-52 vibes, especially at the lines "So this is how it ends // I promise to never go outside again" Maybe finally agreeing with what everyone says about him being a machine, a device whose only power is to kill. The calm pace continues until "Am I going crazy? // Would I even know? // Am I right back where I started fourteen years ago?" Has he really come nowhere at all? Is he still the monster that he was at the start?

The rushed words and 'excuses' continue to the "I swear to God that all I've ever wanted was // A little bit of everything, all of the time // A bit of everything, all of the time // Apathy's a tragedy, and boredom is a crime" and then, it's extremely interesting at how it doesn't return to 'anything and everything, all of the time' like it does in 'Welcome to the Internet'. Instead the line is "I'm finished playing, and I'm staying inside" So he's given up on trying to be a human. He's realised that he'll only be a monster who will follow orders until he dies, so it'd be safer if he just hides away.

He's comfortable with his decision, tries to lighten the mood, until the line "Oh, shit, you're really joking at a time like this?" This is the point that means the most to him. He's completely lost control, and the chorus from Look Who's Inside Again returns, but this time, something is clearly different. The tone is distorted, almost like it's coming from a MACHINE and not his own voice.

Listen to the change in tone from "Oh, shit, you're really joking at a time like this?" To "Well, well, look who's inside again // Went out to look for a reason to hide again // Well, well, buddy, you found it // Now come out with your hands up // We've got you surrounded..."

In my mind, I'm thinking of a moment where he's with Brownie, where Brownie is trying to convince him that everything is fine, that he's not some monster, only for B-52 to make one comment about himself, whether it being that he's evil, or that he'll hurt Brownie, and in that moment of weakness, something takes over him. Maybe someone orders him to kill Brownie, or they do it simply by overriding his systems. The moment his voice goes from sad and defeated to empty and corrupted, only for the mechanical smile to fade, for him to come back to himself as soon as he sees the light leave Brownie's eyes, the soft whisper of 'It's not your fault...' being the last thing he'll ever say again.

As much as I would love to talk about the newer food souls—I know nothing about them. I stopped playing the game after Pizza, Cheese, and Cassata came out. So while I learn about them take some sweet thoughts;

Food Souls helping humans that they don’t get summoned by; I.e.;

Pastel de Nata helping a struggling bakery in turn for learning a bunch of recipes lost to time

Coffee never opened Satans and helps a young coffee shop owner make their dreams come true

Red Wine helping a human studying the supernatural with his weird vampire-ness in return of helping him handle it.

Steak meeting a young human that helps him with something very mundane—then realizes “oh shit this dumb human might die if I leave their side” and acting as some sort of body guard.

Brownie meeting someone that needs his help, and they make a deal. Brownie gets to be a butler, and the human gets a load off for the first time in forever.

I could go on and some of these are dumb and vague but hhh… like think about Chocolate helping a gardener that owns their own shop deal with emotions and trying to give their person of interest flowers??

I’ll learn about these newer Souls and maybe become attached to them at one point but for now I am stuck in the past wanting nothing but happiness for the ones I’m familiar with

Brownie as a Caregiver

🟤 Brownie does everything for his Regressor making sure they’re fed, bathed, dressed, and clean at all times.

🟤 While new to AgeRe he learns almost everyday about his Regressor and learn what they need or want especially if his Regressor doesn’t speak

🟤 He makes a communication chart and has even learned simple sign language to communicate with his Regressor

🟤 Makes the best food even making it look like cute animals and flowers to make it more enjoyable for his little ones to eat

🟤 It doesn’t happen a lot but Brownie gives the best hugs and would use a comforting tone to calm his Regressor down especially if they went through something emotionally and mentally. He will always assure them that everything will be alright

🟤 Enjoys reading to his Regressor a story before a nap or bedtime

Beer as a Caregiver

🍺 While he knows about mostly everything, but AgeRe? It was a whole new experience for him especially when he learns that either his MA or a fellow Food Soul is a Regressor

🍺 He fully embraces them with open arms and likes the concept

🍺 He’s a happy Caregiver always there to make his Regressor laugh and smile, but there are times when he can be serious even comforting when he learns what his Regressor has gone through in their lives so would give them a comforting hug assuring them that he’ll always be there for them always

🍺 Is a great storyteller whether he reads from a storybook or tells one of his own life stories

🍺 To make the experience even more enjoyable he would dress up as certain characters and even doing the voices

🍺 He would write new lullabies for his Regressor to help them sleep or calm down when fussy

🍺 Beer will make sure that his Regressor will lovingly cared for and protected

He communicates with some babbling and cooing

Brownie is more than happy to take care of him

He plays with Bifty and helps him with his needs

Bifty will get upset if Brownie is not nearby

To prevent this Brownie gave him a kitty stuffie that is dressed like him and has his scent which he loves dearly

Likes to play with soft blocks the most

Brownie has a special nightlight dome for Bifty that spins and projects a galaxy on the ceiling that soothes the sleepy Soul

When I read fanfic centered around a gacha game, my favorite thing to do is try to find the self-insert whose friends/team are based on who the writer has in-game.

How do they view this character and their backstory and lore? If I have the same character, do we view this character the same way or is their interpretation wildly different from mine? If I don't have this character, does their view of them seem similar to the way they're portrayed in the lore I know about the character, or does the lore you only get from having the character change how the character is portrayed (like motives behind their actions)?

Plus, you get to see which of the characters they've got are really their faves based on how they write them. Who do they have a soft spot for? Who do they have that they wish they kinda didn't?

This applies to any gacha game, too. Genshin Impact, Food Fantasy, mahoyaku, Twisted Wonderland, Obey Me!, A3!, enstars... The list goes on.

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION

When they learn that you love receiving words of affirmation, they get a little shy. On days when things aren't as good as you'd thought they'd be, or when times get so hard you don't feel like doing anything, something in their gut tells them to talk to you. It starts small, but it slowly becomes something they say often: "You're smarter than you give yourself credit for", "I think you've done well and deserve a break", "Actually, I thought you did pretty good". They'll leave little comments for you every so often to let you know how much they care, even when showing it can be difficult when it's a form of affection they're not used to conveying.

They often give you compliments because they know it makes you feel good. Not only that, but because you deserve it. They'll tell you how much they love you on a daily basis, applaud you when you succeed, comfort you when you don't. Sometimes they're a little shy to explain further, how much they love you in words. Maybe they don't consider themselves articulate enough to express how much you mean to them, or maybe they're just afraid of saying something wrong. No matter what though, they let you know with simpler phrasing, something that they know won't get lost in translation.

You appreciate how much they sing your praises, but honestly? Sometimes it's a little... Let's just put it this way: sometimes it really baffles you with how loud they can be with your affirmations. They love seeing your expression at the sight of their antics, too. Doesn't make it any less embarrassing for you—in fact, they might be loud and embarrassing on purpose. They can be really creative with their compliments, like comparing you to things you wouldn't typically think of right away when you want to compliment someone. Sometimes they might pull a more "classic" line, something akin to calling you as beautiful as a mid-summer day or something? But seriously, they love you so much, why would they ever hold their tongue about it?

Sequel to my "Best (human) boy for periods" ranking; here comes the worsties (Affectionate)

Ace - Ultimate teenage boy(tm), is gonna make a big stink and fuss over how he doesn't wanna hear about you being on or think about it. "No poops, no farts, no periods"! kinda guy. He'll get better when he's older but in your first year as friends? He's gonna tease and antagonise you. If you're the emotional type when you'er on, you can turn the tables on him by crying and getting the whole class to go "Wow, what an asshole" at him for the rest of the week tho.

Vil - This guy holes everyone to the same standards as him, fully believing everyone can give 110% at all times. He's gonna come at you about how just because you're on the rag doesn't mean you can start snacking on chocolate bars all the time (or any comfort food). He WILL critique your skincare routine if your skin breaks out. One day he'll look back at how he treated you and thank Rook for literally carrying him away from you before you killed him.

Epel - Not really his fault, but considering his "old fashioned" upbringing, things like periods were just Not Discussed, even between the women in his family, so Epel's first reaction to learning that you're on is just a sound "I didn't hear that" slowly evolving into a "Why tf are you telling me this?" (Because I bled through my trousers and can't get up from this chair Epel, jeez). Just will not engage with the subject at hand.

Deuce - More of an inbetween than actually the worst(tm), he earns a lot of brownie points for wanting to help you and is the type to panic buy every item on the shelf. BUT! if you're the type to get moody or aggressive when you're on, he's instinctively gonna meet aggression with aggression and you two will have to be seperated for a while.

Idia - Just straight up wont deal with it, he'll send Ortho to help you. Best you're gonna get from this guy is a "RIP LMAO" when you text him that you're on :(

Honorable mention: Silver. Not his fault either, but being raised in a predominantly fairy based family unit, periods are an alien concept to him. Won't really understand what's going on when you try to explain it to him, and with Lilia as his main guide, is gonna make a LOT of mistakes before he gets things right but he get's a lot of points for trying to help. Might even use his UM to see into your dreams/memories to get a feel for what it's like, just so he can better know how to help you.

Aww, see I get that it would be realistic for some of the boys to be immature and get grossed out, but it's a fantasy world! Maybe my fantasy is that the boys are semi-educated on the human body and are gonna support me during my periods 😭

I really think both Vil and Deuce should be given more credit, though. Vil is very in touch with his femininity, and doesn't really disrespect others unless they disrespect him or cause trouble, based on his interactions with others at least. I think he'd be excellent because he can make the best pain potions for your cramps, and might be willing to give you tips on how to care for your skin during your hormonal periods. But only if he likes you.

Deuce was raised only by his mama, and based on what I know of her from the JP event, she def gives off the vibes of "I'm teaching my son how to care and respect women." He'd probably understand that you're not being aggressive with him for the sake of it, you emotions are being messed with due to all the hormones fluctuating in your body. But I do agree that he is the type to panic buy one of everything to help you out.

The others, I can see it, though I would like to this that Epel's case is less of being raised old-fashioned (nothing about him and the way he interacts with others screams old-fashioned to me), and more of being one of the few young people in a town of old people. The folk that can have periods don't because they've probably gone through menopause! It doesn't occur to them that he should probably know about periods!!!

Ace and Idia are just immature and dumb and I love them. Also, rip Silver, he's never interacted with another human outside of Sebek's dad.

Anyways my headcanon for the TWST universe is that they actually teach biology and anatomy so people aren't taught to know nothing about things like periods. Cause that's stupid why do we do that?

I did a list of how long time there were between Charlotte siblings births.

This was made with the idea that Big Mom gave birth each and every year from she was 18 to 60 and never skipped a year. But keep in mind that she apparently gave birth 43 times in 42 years. So there was one year she gave birth two times.

First of Cracker and his sisters are only 5 months younger than Opera and his brothers. I read that children only have a chance of surving being premature birth if its been over 6 months. Because its at 6 months lungs and other organs are fully developed. But this is a show where a woman was pregnant for 22 months so everything goes in this world I guess.

Brûlée and Broyé have two different birthdays, twins being born on different dates arent that uncomman, but Broyé would have been born 9 months after Brûlée, 28 days before Nusstorte. Sounds more like Broyé would be apart of a Quadruplets with Nusstorte and his brothes than a twin of Brûlée. Most likely just a mistake on Odas part.

(46% of her entire life)

Other facts: -When Big mom was 24(?) she joined Rocks Pirates. same year she gave birth to Zuccoto. -Rocks got defeated when Big Mom was 30, the year Mont-d'Or was born. -At 35 Year old Big Mom created her own pirate crew, the year when Melise was born. And as it seems her children become officers in her crew when they turn 15 means Perospero, Compote, Katakuri, Daifuku and Oven all joind the crew as officers at the same time.

I find Big Moms pirates to be very interesting and I want to know more how the development happend. When did tottoland become a candy fantasy land? Did she have to wait untill her children ate devil fruits for that to happen? Or did Streusen turn things into food? Did she leave Rocks pirate to give birth or gave birth at the ship and then left back to tottoland to leave her newborns there? Katakuri and his brothers was apparently born on a ship, but such infomation isnt mentiond for Perospero or Compote. Katakuris flashback showed him and his sibling to grow up in a city, so Big Mom didnt keep them with her.

list of dreamling headcannons i have, some may or may not be me projecting:

Dream likes food that are sweet, soft and small enough that he can hold and nibble on, like fruit pieces, brownie squares, soft cookies, small cakes and pastries

Hob is not myopic but slightly hyperopic and would need reading glasses to grade and do paperwork

Dream dissociates, like a LOT, and it get worse after his imprisonment, most of the time he (and other ppl) doesn’t even realize it but he would space out, go on autopilot and become less responsive until someone (hob) pulls him out of it

Hob would collect random trinkets and then forgets about them, ranges from small jewelry pieces (some really old at this point), toy figurines, smoothed out porcelain shards, corks, or cool rocks, and those would piles up in his flat until Matthew steals them again for his own collection, Hob rarely notices, and when he do he doesn’t mind

Hob keeps up with his memes and slangs but would mix them up bc he literally cannot keep track of their timeline, like these tumblr posts? these are Hob

Hob doesn’t know this but he’s tiktok famous bc of videos of him ranting about Shakespeare or mixing up his slangs or just reveals the craziest of life stories, ppl in the comments like “👀 is he single” and his student reply “no he’s married to a hot goth who visits sometimes”

Hob doesn’t teach history bc they get soo many things wrong and he can’t stand it, he teaches classic literature analysis instead and shares random history or other random facts he learned over the years in class.

Hob has a hard time falling asleep without cuddling something in his arms, usually its a pillow but it’s now replaced by Dream. Dream doesn’t sleep but he appreciates the cuddles and it allows him a couple of hours of peace and quiet to blank out when needed.

Matthew was Hob’s best man (he had a tiny collar and bowtie and everything), Lucienne was Dream’s librarian of honor, Fiddler’s Green officiated the wedding and Death walked Dream down the aisle. Time & Night were not invited but Calliope was

They had their wedding in front of the new inn but held a separate celebration in the dreaming so all the lil dreams and nightmares can be a part of it

They both ADORE Ghibli films, the classic, whimsical fairytale/fantasy is right up Dream’s alley not to mention the artistry and all the dreams they have inspired
