— Into the forest
Cover illustration I did for fun. It mixes a lot of things that fascinate me, like the fairy world, the mysterious and strange part of the forest, and creatures that look like they came out of a fairy tale.
I had a lot of fun doing this illustration, although it also gave me some trouble until I managed to get the idea I wanted out of my mind. It's inspired by a story I've been working on for a while, although I don't know if when I decide to work on it, it will have something to do with this illustration or not.
But here it is!

There was a girl whose body was thrown into the ocean when she was still alive. Her father did it with a tearful smile, going out on a boat because she wasn't the person he decided she was, and threw her away for reasons only humans have.
And as she fell, and as the water filled her lungs, the ducks saw her, but they had no pitty on her, saying to eachother: "this girl was killed under the laws of humanity, and we cannot interfere with the law. It is sad what happened, but it was her father's right."
And as she went further down, and closer to death, the schools of fish saw her, but they had no pitty on her, saying to eachother: "this girl is reacting far too violently. If only she was more calm when they thrust her down, then mabye we would spare her. She's too old too, and too masculine, and not even a virgin. We must find a better looking victim to spare."
And she fell so far down that the rays could see her, but the rays didn't spare her, and told eachother: "this girl is weak. Can she not swim, not pull herself up, is water in her lungs enough to hurt her? If she was just a child perhaps we would spare her, but she's old enough to be able to swim out of this herself, even if ropes bind her hands. We cannot spare her."
And eventually she floated down to the sea with no sun, where only the sharks could see her, and the sharks said to one another: "this being has tasted blood in her mouth, yet has no fins to swim with, we must help her."
And the sharks took her, and swarmed her body yet did not eat her. And her skin became grey and rough, and her bones became as soft as the tip of her nose, and her teeth became sharp and plentiful, and her eyes became white and cold. And she could breath as gills grew on her sides. And she could swim, as fins grew on her arms and legs, and a tail grew on her back.
And she lives now as the queen of the sharks, half human half animal, and she finds those who reject and harm their own children, and she takes them to the sea with no sun, where the sharks will be there to judge them.

Just watched the last unicorn
And it made me remember when I was small and just starting to read "the adventures of xisto" and "the water of life", wich had beautiful art that made me dream of riding horses in vast green hills looking at a world of wonders
Now I looked for the last story that I know I have and it starts "long ago, before me or you were born, in kingdom far away a king had three sons"
And gotta be honest. This movie is certain a fary tale, it's been long since I have felt like I was reading/watching one old fary tale with symbolism that make me fell it rather than just comprehend it

If I decide to reincarnate, I’m going to be royalty in the 1810s of Great Britain. Maybe I will be a duke’s daughter or be Queen Charlotte herself.

Me seeing people say that in the film I am dragon there is no coherence because it is winter in the girl's village and borderline tropical weather on the dragon island. The distance between the village and the island is not specified. And how does this delirium work ? Only love can allow man to reach the island, since both must love each other to find each other ! Why ?! And how could Arman know that ? And then it comes out where fog comes from ? And then Amran was born at the time of Igor's grandfather ! That does not make any sense ! This movie is stupid ! How can I put it...
These pseudo-intellectuals are getting to me. But with strength. This movie is a fucking fairy tale inspired by Beauty and the Beast ! Are you looking for realism without magic in a fairy tale ?!
Is the climate different between the village and the island ? Like in Beauty and the Beast where it's winter at the Beast's house and not in the village, or in the French version in black and white where it's night at the Beast's house when it's daylight in Belle's village. How far away is the island that the climate is so different ? The island is a fucking magical place, hence the different climate, and we don't care exactly how far it is from the village ! Oh it makes no sense that the power of love can reach the island. Once again FAIRY TALE ! How does Arman know this story ? Well it's simply a legend that one of his ancestors must have learned at one time or another through humans ?! And seeing that once transformed into a dragon Amran had access to the memories of these ancestors he knew it ?! I don't know, a little imagination ! It’s a fucking fairy tale ! If no one can find the island, why is there an animal ?! It's a fucking magical island with a visibly magical creature that also looks like one of the toys the heroine made at the beginning of the film... A bit as if this animal was only a symbolism of transposition of the young girl's dreams of Mira, exactly like the dragon that she also made at the beginning of the film... My god... and it seems intelligent to make this kind of remark ?! And then, the "oh it doesn't make any sense that Amran was still a young man when he was a child when Igor's grandfather swooped in to kill his father" well maybe he's just aging way too much different than humans ?! He's a fucking magical being ! Either he is potentially immortal, or he ages more slowly ! You know... the two versions we often see when we see individuals alternating between a dragon form and a human form in fiction ?
Besides, I choose to think that Amran simply ages more slowly. No, because thinking he's immortal would be depressing. And I doubt that if a dragon was immortal, Amran's ancestors would have taken such care to always have descendants.
Anyway, it's depressing to see this kind of pseudo-intellectual bullshit criticizing a fucking fairy tale. Something designed to be literally unrealistic and magical !

There once were two sisters.
Sympathy and cyanide.
Sympathy was nice and kind and beautiful.
But soon she died from cyanide.
Because cyanide is toxic.
Don't be a cyanide.

Atropa Belladonna, the deadly nightshade.
Inspired by both the poetic name of the plant, and the gruesome tals of its toxicity, i came up with this illustration. (Also, my detailed inking skills and decorating skills needed some polishing, so don't ask me how much time was sunk into this)
