Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore (Newt Scamander x Female!Reader)

Chapter 1: Qilin

Kweilin, China

1932

A lone raft floats along the river in Kweilin, one man steering it. He steers the raft up to this shore and stops once the raft hits the rocks. A little bowtruckle jumped from the raft to the top of the suitcase. He picks up his suitcases and started to walk up on the shore then up the hill.

A loud moan like roar sounds out and Newt Scamander stops in his tracks as he looks around. Pickett, who was now on Newt's shoulder, looks then let's out a squeak as they hear the roar. Newt listened and took notice that the roars didn't sound angry, it sounded like a creature was in pain. "She's ready." He mutters and he heads up the hill.

He makes his way over and found a pregnant Qilin that was making the noise as she laid on her side, she was giving birth. Newt walks up to the creature and, gently, places his hand on her belly. The Qilin let's out one more pained roar then starts to get up, making Newt stumble back. "Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Newt said as the Qilin gets up.

Once she starts walking away, Newt noticed an egg. The egg starts to move, like something inside was getting out, until it burst open, revealing a baby Qilin. The newborn then starts to get up on its legs and starts to walk. "Beautiful." Newt mutters as the mother starts to licks the newborn clean.

"Alright, you two. Now the tricky bit." Newt said as he sets his suitcases down, knocks on it and opens it. As the lid of the case opens, the sounds of footsteps could heard from it. Then (y/n) (l/n) emerges from the suitcase, her head at least pops up, and she stops and stares, in awe, at the Qilin. "Oh my..." she said, in awe and wonder. Then she looks up and over at Newt and the two share a smile.

Little did they know, that there were some people lurking about in the forest, they were also after the Qilin. Before (y/n) could fully climb out of the suitcase, a flash of green hits the mother which made her fall over. Newt and (y/n) were startled by this and Newt turns around and noticed three people behind them. Credence was one of them, which meant that these were Grindelwald's people.

One of them shoots another jet of green light at the creature while Newt puts up a large protective charm around them. "Get back inside." Newt tells (y/n) and she does as she's told, closing the lid behind her. Credence walks up to the protective charm and without any problems, tears a hole into the charm with his wand.

"Accio!" Newt shouts, pointing his wand at the suitcase. The case flies into his hand and he starts to run but falls down the hill, the case flying out of his hand as it tumbles down. He hears the baby Qilin cry out then runs over to it and grabs it and starts to run while Credence and his group fire spells at him as they chase after him.

Newt whistles and a creature's arms and legs come out on the edges of the case and begins to run as Newt runs and dodges the spell, still holding the Qilin. One of Grindelwald's men comes up and starts to grab at Newt but he fires a spell, knocking him back.

Newt kept running as the spells kept firing until he gets to the edge of a cliff. He starts to turn around when a spell hits him, making him fall off the cliff and into the water. Pickett starts swimming and goes over to a rock while the baby Qilin screeches out as it tries to swim and the creature in the case swims it to shore, close to Newt. Newt starts to wake up and sees Credence and his people grabbing the Qilin and take off.

Newt struggles to get up then looks down, realizing that he failed in his mission.

Minutes later, he makes his way back to the mother Qilin, who was still alive but just barely. Newt sets his case down next to him and leans against the Qilin, giving her comfort for her final moments. "I'm so sorry." Newt whispers to her, apologetically. But then he heard another noise.

He turns around and found another baby Qilin, which started to slowly trot over to him. Shocked, Newt felt relieved as the Qilin goes up to him and he holds it in his arms, letting out a small relieved sob. "Twins. You had twins." He said as he looks over at the mother. The mother sighs her last breath as a tear runs down while the baby Qilin snuggles up to Newt.

Pickett goes over to the suitcase and he and Newt open the case, Teddy the Niffler pops out. Seconds later, there was footsteps and the upper half of (y/n) comes out.

"Newt, you okay?" She asked as she gets out of the case. Then she noticed the mother Qilin wasn't moving. "What happened?" She asked. "It was Grindelwald's people. They killed the mother and took the Qilin." Newt explained. "But it turns out she had twins." He said as he gestures to the baby in his arms.

"Can you move?" She asked him, worried. "Little bit." He said and (y/n) frowns then turns to the case. "Jason!" She shouts and a young man, eighteen years old, with dark hair comes out. This is (y/n)'s cousin, Edmund's and Isabella's son, and he had graduated from Hogwarts a year ago and decided to at least help Newt and (y/n) out with the creatures as a side job.

"Help me get them in." (Y/n) said to Jason as she gestures to Newt and the Qilin. "Right!" Jason said as he gets out of the case and they kneel down to Newt. "Okay, I'll take her. Okay, love?" (Y/n) said as she goes to reach out for the small creature.

Newt nods, slightly, and (y/n) carefully takes the Qilin in her arms then gets inside while Jason goes to Newt and places an arm around him. "Okay, Newt...on three. One...two...three!" Jason said and he helps Newt up on his feet and they slowly make their way down the steps.

(Y/n) walks out the little cabin then whistles at a creature, a Wyvern. It just swallowed a fish then looks over at (y/n) as she made a noise similar to a bird call. The Wyvern flies up and out the suitcase as Jason and Newt get in and they start to walk, well Jason mainly doing the walking as Newt leans against him.

"Put him over here." (Y/n) said as she points to a nearby bed and Jason helps set Newt down while (y/n) sets the Qilin down. "I'll go check on the Wyvern." Jason said and he runs out and up the ladder just as the Wyvern gets out of the case then he lets out call and begins to puff up. Jason smiles as he watches the neck of the creature puff up like a balloon until its tail wraps around the case. Jason gets down as the lid of the case closes.

The creature kept puffing out its neck until it sprouts wings and begins to take off in the rising sun.

Meanwhile, (y/n) goes to sit on the edge of the bed and look Newt over. "Anything hurting?" She asked Newt. "I'm fine, love. Just...a bit dazed is all. They knocked me off a cliff and I fell into the water. I just need rest." Newt assures her and she gives him a concerned look. "You sure?" She asked him and he gives her a small smile. He raises his left hand to her and places it on her right cheek.

"I'm ok." He said and she gives him a small smile back then leans down to kiss him. Then there was a sound of someone clearing their throat and the couple look over and see Jason standing at the doorway. "The Wyvern is getting us home." He said and (y/n) nods at him. "Still don't know why we couldn't Apparate." Jason said. "Because Newt is hurt and I have to watch over him and, as I recall, you haven't pass the Apparition test." (Y/n) said with a cheeky smile.

"Hey, I'm getting better. Supposed to retake it here in a few days." Jason said and (y/n) chuckles. "Well, if you could attend to the Qilin, it would be most appreciated." She said and Jason nods. "Of course. I'll..uh...leave you two alone." He said as he walks off and (y/n) turns her attention to Newt.

"You sure you're okay?" (Y/n) asked him as she pushes back Newt's bangs away from his face. "Yeah...just need rest. Then we'll have to go meet up with Dumbledore." He said and (y/n) nods. "Well, I'll be right here, if you need anything." She said and Newt nods then closes his eyes and starts to fall asleep. The last thing he knew was the feeling of (y/n)'s lips on his forehead before he falls into a deep sleep.

Nurmengard

Meanwhile, Credence and some of Grindelwald's acolytes come up to his palace, the twin Qilin in a bag that Credence was carrying. Isabella was one of the first to walk out of the palace and she walks up to Credence and sees the bag he was carrying while Grindelwald comes up behind her. "Leave us." Grindelwald said to his people and they start to walk away while he looks over at Credence.

"Show me." He said and Credence pulls the Qilin out of the bag and holds it out to Grindelwald. Grindelwald takes the Qilin and starts to carry it as he walks around Credence and Isabella. "The others, they said it was special." Credence said. "Ooh, it's beyond special. "See?" Grindelwald said as he holds up the Qilin to Credence.

"See its eyes? Those eyes see everything." Grindelwald said and Isabella smiles. "When a Qilin is born, a righteous leader will rise to change our world forever." Isabella informs Credence and he looks over at her as he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Her birth brings change, Credence, to everything." She finished as Grindelwald situates the Qilin in his arms as he holds it then turns to Credence with a smile.

"You did well." He said and he places a hand on Credence's cheek. "Go. Rest." He said and Credence walks away. "You should go too, Isabella." Grindelwald said and she nods as she walks away while he sets the Qilin down on the ground.

From the front entrance of the palace, Queenie stands there and watches as the Qilin looks around and squeaks a few times. Grindelwald tries to get the creature to look at him but she doesn't as she keeps looking around and squeaks again.

Grindelwald picks up the Qilin then, with his other hand, slices the Qilin's throat with a small blade. Queenie jumps back, in fright, at this as the Qilin makes one more sound before it dies in his arms. Grindelwald sets the dead body of the Qilin down as a pool of blood forms. Grindelwald noticed that in the reflection of the blood, he could see Dumbledore showing off the blood troth him and Grindelwald made years ago.

He stares at it until the vision goes away and Grindelwald let's out a sigh, knowing that Dumbledore was gonna try and stop him.
