DP x DC where Bruce Wayne and Vlad Masters are old friends. They met as kids at summer camp and stayed in touch through phone calls and letters.
Their friendship dies down around the time Vlad has his accident and starts secluding himself. They still mail each other letters, but the time between those letters stretches further and further as the years go by.
Bruce decides to reconnect with his old friend after receiving one of these rare letters. It’s been decades since he’s seen Vlad in person, and the man has never met any of his kids-- though he’s heard plenty about them.
Bruce meets Vlad at a restaurant for lunch, with plans for a large family dinner with him in the evening. Vlad has changed a lot over the years, and Bruce tries to ignore the strange energy he feels from the man. He tries to focus on the boy he knew, and all of the pleasant conversations they’ve had over the years. Whatever changes Vlad has gone through, he’s still Bruce’s old friend.
It’s a nice distraction at least, considering the chaos Bruce has had at home over the last couple of weeks.
Vlad is talkative as they catch up over lunch. He gloats about his job as mayor in a small town called Amity Park, and his company, and about a troubled boy he’s essentially adopted as his own. Bruce lets the man talk, genuinely interested (and confused) by some of what Vlad is saying. He has a dreadful, sinking feeling in his stomach as he asks about the boy Vlad’s “essentially adopted”.
The boy is named Daniel and Vlad is more than happy to show Bruce a picture of him.
To Bruce’s amazement-- and horror-- it’s the same boy living in one of the manor’s guest rooms. The boy he found two weeks ago, scared witless and covered in horrific scars, who hasn’t told them more than his first name.

really fucking sick and tired of people who really fucking love the eddie book jumping on people who don't like or are even remotely critical of it's posts and like crusading their opinions around from the top of their high horses and shoving it down our throats.
if you like the book, great! that's awesome! love that for you! i am genuinely glad that you were able to find good in it and enjoy it!!
but not everyone did, and not everyone is going to agree with you. so, instead of going on some grand crusade where you find every single post that includes anything even remotely negative or negative adjacent or even neutrally critical and spending ALL this time and effort trying to provide unwanted rebuttals to every single thing, maybe you should just stay in your lane and find people who DO like the book and chat about it with them.
because i can PROMISE YOU, none of us appreciate it when you come onto our posts and start accusing us of "hating on" the author or "being rude" about her and her work and RIDICULOUS shit like that.
being critical of something and pointing out it's flaws is NOT inherently hating on it. i, frankly, do not know where people got that notion, but it's not fucking true so can we fucking quit assuming it is? and, critiquing something is also NOT the same as saying this is shit and it sucks and the author is a piece of garbage. again, where the fuck that came from is beyond me. you can be critical of something and still enjoy it. as soooo many of you love to point out, it's not perfect, why should it be perfect? so D U H. of course that means criticism can and should arise???
also. hot take (by which i mean ice fucking cold because it's NOT a fucking hot take), but going around toting FALSE facts as part of your "defense" does not make you or your argument look good. you, like the author, should maybe do a basic fact check first. 🙃
tldr, if you like the book, that's genuinely great, but stay in your fucking lane and stop seeking out posts from people who didn't like it to start shit in the notes.

The concept of Chuuya reverting back to enhancing people's abilities is so funny to me, I always wondered what would happen if he and Dazai touched.
Would Dazai nullify his enhancing or would Chuuya enhance his nullifying?
Both powers work through touch, and there are no exceptions to No Longer Human, so it should be nullified instantly and do nothing.
I have been told this is the boring answer. The FUNNY answer is that it causes a split-second reaction between them touching and NLH taking effect, and so when they accidentally brush hands they experience the equivalent of a static shock and both start yelling and complaining
ON THAT NOTE
I wanted to be funny in those comics, but actually, I was thinking about what rules his ability could have. I think it's more interesting if it's always active, because that way he still has somewhat the potential of being a walking disaster with his ability. And if it's always active and works through touch, I want it to work the same way NLH works, which means he'd need to touch the person directly (skin/hair) or maybe the tool they use (Kunikida's notebook) for it to work on them. That's where the gloves come into play :)
I've also seen some people wonder about Corruption (it's gone as long as All Men Are Equal is active) and what it could mean for skk. I know that's it's a common to bring up how NLH is the only thing to stop Corruption, how Chuuya relies on Dazai for it, how Dazai going away took that power away, etc etc etc.
But I really don't think that Corruption was used all that much during their mafia days. I think we're seeing the crunchiest parts of their stories; the amount of times Corruption has been used so far in the story is not representative of the average amount of crises in Yokohama. Otherwise, they would not have survived Dazai going away for two entire years, let's be real.
Their partnership was built on more than a trump card. Dazai is not such a poor strategist and Chuuya isn't that weak without Corruption that they would need to settle for their "last resort" every month or so. All of this to say that Dazai's relationship to Chuuya is not dependant on Corruption. Corruption was never their go-to solution, and while it was its use that landed them their nickname of Double Black during the Dragon's Head Conflict, it's not what made them work as a team to begin with.
edit: why would Chuuya's ability be ability enhancing pre-lab

Really wish everyone wasn’t like “don’t go to college if you aren’t passionate about what you’re majoring in”
Like unfortunately I am not blessed enough to really have a passion, much less one I can major in and get a job about, and I am not privileged enough to just do fuck all until I somehow find that passion
So I’m gonna keep doing what gives me a direction in life, and maybe I’ll never find that passion, maybe I’m not someone who was made to love working, but if I can find a career that doesn’t overwork me while paying me enough that I can take a few days off every week and get vacation time to do hobbies, I’ll consider that the jackpot and it’ll be enough for me

it Happened Again
i swear at this point i need to just make a post explaining why sign language for deep sea animals just Doesn't Work in their given environment. because i keep seeing people trying to do that for inclusivity and it feels worse than just realizing that its probably not the best place for a spec evo species to focus exclusively on that.
or actually maybe i just need to make a post ranting about why the mermaids from Into The Drowning Deep are so bad and made no goddamn sense despite trying so hard to be hard spec evo
