The main problem I have with coding is remembering whether to use a backslash or a forward slash. "It points left/right" doesn't help because / and \ both point left to me depending on which part of the stick you are looking at. I try to remember that it runs from the bottom to the top, but because I have Reading From Left To Right in my head the backslash \ always looks more correct to me. Also these <> have always looked the same to me. I can do arrows <- -> because the horizontal line helps me know which direction it's pointing but when the whole thing is diagonal I get confused often enough to make weird typos.

dyslexia is like i just came up with 10 new spellings for this word and none of them are even close to the actual spelling plus 5 of them are actually the same but i thought they looked different and spellcheck still has no idea what i’m trying to say

i still can't believe the LA Times article/interview just. openly admits that the show intentionally, from the beginning, fully removed Gabe being abusive and overtly made him just a nosy loser. Percy's relationship with Gabe is so important to how he navigates the world and the themes of the series. Percy's first monster is in his own home. He uses wards against evil against his step-father and they work. He has overt PTSD that colors his interactions with Mr. D and is why he's so antagonistic towards him for like four books. It isn't until Percy is able to move past his trauma and how Mr. D reminds him of Gabe that he sees Mr. D for who he actually is and understand him and begin to empathize with him. Heck, even into HoO we see Percy having visceral reactions to implications of alcohol/drinking because of Gabe. Everything about Percy's home life colors him as a character. His trauma and PTSD informs his perspective and they explicitly removed his PTSD in the show.
They removed Percy's PTSD. They brush over his experiences as a neurodivergent/disabled kid after the first episode and turned Sally into an Autism Speaks mom. Why. On what planet was that a reasonable change to be made.

please stop associating the term neurodivergent with JUST autism and adhd. like please. there are so many ways to be neurodivergent and it’s not fair to assume that it’s just about autism adhd.

Finally decided to make a bit of a ref sheet for the riptide goobers bc I keep changing their designs every time I draw them. These are for post ep 87 btw, designs for before then will come in the near future (maybe).
Back sketches and alternative versions of the designs under cut (contains spoilers up to ep 115)

platonic zonami idea: when they go out drinking together or generally places together on islands and stuff they'll walk with arms linked. this has multiple benefits;
-Zoro dosnt get lost but is lead where he needs to be by someone he actually trusts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(holds these screencaps so close to my heart)
-Nami gets a big 'scary' guard dog that stops rando's from making advances and people from challenging her if a wallet mysteriously disappeares
-same goes for zoro, they beard each other
-they both like physical contact with no underlying motives and are best friends who like hanging out. fight me

Omg idk if you talk Spanish or if it’s just XXC, but with that little and wonderful doodle you gave me the amazing headcanon of XXC being bilingual and just randomly speaking Spanish out of nowhere and nobody understanding him

[TL: XXC says "don't do coke in the bathroom"]
Shout out to the Spanish speaking MXTX fans. I don't think this is remotely what you wanted. (bonus below cut, TW: Drugs)

Since I heard her name I couldn't get the similarities between Galicea (fantasy high) and Galatea (Greek mythology). The myth of Galatea is basically that an incredibly skilled sculptor was incredibly repulsed by the idea that women could speak and express themselves, but he still wanted a girlfriend so he made a marble statue and named her Galatea (Roughly translate to white as milk). But he soon realized that a less comfortable body pillow wasn’t the best option for a fulfilling relationship so he asked Aphrodite for help. The goddess then transformed Galatea into a real woman who, unfortunately, could talk and have emotions and opinions so their whole thing kind of fell apart. All this to say, I think this myth of Galatea where she is only accepted when she follows a very strict set of rules laid out for her by the person who is supposed to love her, has some very intriguing parallels to Galacea the “werewolf moon” goddess, being forced into just “moon” goddess she isn’t by her followers, who only accept her as a restricted version of herself that can’t express the werewolf aspect of her divinity.
I don’t know if this was intentional on Brennan's part, but considering there have been a lot of different parallels with characters with greek myth inspired/adjacent names i wouldnt put it past him. Either way I hope we get to see more interactions between Cassandra and Galicea because I wanna know what their sibling relationship was. Were they on good terms? Was it another Abernant situation? What did Galacea think of Ankarna? How did Galicea react when her sister became the nightmare king? Did she know? I need the rest of the season to drop tomorrow. I swear to god I wanna know everything KNOW!

GUYS NOT TO GATEKEEP BUT IF YOU'RE FROM TIKTOK PLEASE DON'T BASE WHETHER OR NOT YOU'RE NEURODIVERGENT (literal different BRAIN) OFF ONE QUESTION ??? 😭😭
my parents use tiktok and according to them, something that's viral right now is the question "what does 7 and 2 have in common??" (which i noticed instantly ! i was asked that when i was assessed for autism) & i haven't seen the tiktoks myself, but based on how they acted, they made it seem like if you answer anything other than "they're numbers," you're autistic ????????
so now my mom thinks she's neurodivergent — which could be very possible! i am NOT trying to discredit that possibility knowing the underdiagnosis of autism & it IS suspicious that i'm the only one in my immediate family with diagnosed autism when it's a genetic thing
however, she called my sister neurotypical (Like Her Dad™) for not answering in a 💕neurodivergent way💕, which is harmful when we really can't know for sure (and she suspects she has adhd too 😭)
and said sumn like "but that's okay i'm just neurodivergent and that's okay! everyone thinks differently"
YOU CAN BE NEUROTYPICAL AND STILL HAVE DIFFERENT THOUGHT PROCESSES FROM OTHER HUMANS THAT'S STILL POSSIBLE !! EVERYONE'S NOT EXACTLY THE SAME !!!! ONE question without any further research on neurodivergence & reflection is NOT gonna be a reliable way of telling whether or not you're neurodivergent !!!!
thank you psa over

yknow i was gonna make a post about how happy I was to see the show acknowledge adhd/dyslexia/learning disability stuff and the way they handled and showed Percy's experience with that system, and how it influenced his reactions to things. But i'm honestly glad I didn't because WOW the show completely ditched all of that immediately. There was set-up for a really interesting arc about the demigods = neurodivergence metaphor and "You are singular" (pun off of "half-blood"/"demigod" and a very direct rejection of the "puzzle" metaphor for things like autism) and a very quick acknowledgement in like episode 2 of an off-hand "oh yeah all demigods are like that (adhd/dyslexic)" and then. nothing. absolutely nothing.
heck, they even changed the design of the zoo van (in the books very explicitly a black van with white text, which Percy notes specifically because white-on-black text is more dyslexia-friendly) which is a personal affront to me because That's My Dyslexia-Friendly Van, How Dare You.
i know some people have argued that maybe Annabeth pausing in the store was supposed to be her having a dyslexia moment, but if it was then we would have gotten the Dyslexia Effect™ on the text (and dont tell me they didn't have the budget for it cause HAVE YOU SEEN THEIR BUDGET FOR THE SHOW? They clearly haven't been using all of that). It's almost definitely supposed to show that Annabeth hasn't been in mortal spaces in a very long time and is, yknow, a kid, being indecisive of which snacks to buy.
i have said it before and i'll say it again: the core of PJO is disability. You can never remove that, or else it is no longer PJO. The heart of the series will always be a story made for an ADHD/dyslexic kid to help them learn about and be interested in mythology, and if you stray from that it's going to be very noticeable very fast. Almost every character in PJO has a learning disability. The entire series is framed as a way to introduce kids to mythology in a fun way and emphasize those themes of mythology being important even in modern day with how it still affects our lives, to ask you to look at what lessons we can still learn from these myths and how they apply to modern lives, and that you can be a hero not despite your disability, but alongside it. That is the core of PJO, always and forever. And the show failed that.
