I have several learning disabilities. My official diagnosis is literally just “learning disability” not even kidding.
I have dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. Each of which have impacted my life severely. On top of all of these, I also have ID, which affects my ability to learn. Overall, my brains a mess.
I wasn’t able to read chapter books until 8th grade, and even though I can now, they’re very overwhelming for me and I read pretty slow. My handwriting is also very terrible, like it’s barley readable to most. My dyscalculia is what I feel like impacts me one of the most. I can do very basic things with a calculator, like multiplication. Algebra is a hard no, and I can read an Analog Clock but they can’t be fancy and it takes me awhile to figure out.
Learning disabilities are a big struggle of mine, and it’s very demeaning and frustrating to have them.
Please be kind to your people with learning disabilities, we’re trying our best. I have so much more to say, and I’ll make some more posts on my experience with learning disabilities later.

Okay, I have a question for all the neurodivergents out there. A few mins ago, I was interacting publicly (reblogs, comments, etc.) with someone on another one of my sideblogs. And it occurred to me that, even though it's somewhat to a lesser degree, I'm still masking while on Tumblr dot com (a.k.a., Neurodivergent Central).

Rewatching the first 3 Kung Fu Panda movies in preparation for seeing the 4th one today and bruh Po going from thinking that he was an idiot and being treated as an idiot by others including his teacher, to Po’s teacher and Po realising that he just learns in a different way, to Po then using that same method to help others who also learn the way he does, healed something in me as a person with learning disabilities and a lot of trauma from the education system

As someone who often misunderstands written text, and the person closest to me in the world is dyslexic it really bothers me how often on this site I see posts about “bad reading comprehension” and other literacy related difficulties as a criticism for bad faith interpretations. So I want to put it out there that:
1- This needs to change! Stop using ableism (and other prejudices) to criticize people for their decisions and/or behaviour (that they controlled!)
2- cognitive, emotional, intellectual, physical, and learning disabilities are not what make you a “good or bad” person, no part of who you are is a thing that makes you “bad”.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to this if you have, and I hope you have a great day!

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY I just had an epiphany this morning about a dyslexia accessibility software I've been thinking about/tinkering with for the past two years, and I just want to say
if I ever end up finishing and publishing this software for everyone to use
NO ONE is allowed to mention how a crucial breakthrough in development was inspired by something Hannah Alyeah said during the ILTV charity livestream on twitch.

Introduction post I guess?
Hii! I’m Skullz/Rain! I use He/Him pronouns and prefer primarily masc terms! I am trans (ftm), asexual, biromantic, and autigender! I am also emo (with some scene elements)! X3
I am neurodivergent, in ways that include but probably aren’t limited to: Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, some form of trauma idk the word, and Synesthesia
My current hyperfixations are: Garfield, US Acres, Blue’s Clues, and Rocko’s Modern Life My special interests are: Cartoons/animating, rhythm games, and cats
On my blog, you can expect to see: - ND stuff - Drawings maybe? - Random nonsensical jokes that come to my mind at ungodly hours - Stimboards potentially - Cartoon-related stuff, especially 90s or 2000s cartoons I am not personally an age regressor, however, I entirely support age regression! DNI if you are: Anti-AgeRe, Queerphobic/LGBT-Exclusionist (Anything else mentioned in my DNI falling under the same category is just a specification of what counts), Pedophile, Zoophile, TERF, NSFW/Porn blog, Ableist, One of my ex-friends (I cut you off for a reason), Vividly Trump-supporting, Racist, Misogynistic, or are gonna just generally be rude to me for no good reason
And if anyone is gonna be like "Oh you can't be dyslexic! You didn't misspell anything here!" I USE SPELLCHECK!!!!!!!!!!! AS ANYONE WOULD!!!!!!!! SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY IF PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND MY POSTS!!!!!!!!!! Also, I don't care if you think I'm cringe, cringe culture is dead anyway XDD

Dyslexia culture is being told "to remember your left side by extending your thumbs at a right angle to your index fingers, and the left side looks like the letter L”. Only thing is that both sides look like the letter 』

On this fine day of Disability Pride Month, this is your reminder that I'm dyslexic!
It took a while for me to be diagnosed because I was a "good reader" -- which is to say, I physically learned how to read very young, and I was good at picking up new words. Most of my issues actually come from writing.
I have "rapid naming" issues, which is to say that I have I have trouble coming up with the right word on the spot and often substitute similar looking or sounding words. Sometimes Corroded Coffin becomes Corrupted, for instance. I have problems with sentences and paragraphs moreso than individual words.
Sometimes this latter part becomes a problem when I DM and a monster has a complicated move. Let's look at the weretiger:
Pounce (Tiger or Hybrid Form Only). If the weretiger moves at least 15 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the weretiger can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.
There's a lot going on in this move that can be hard on my dyslexia! Words are repeated, and there are conditional moves. Sometimes I have to make flow charts that break down moves like this. A Pounce move flow chart might look like:
Tumblr media
It's not a perfect solution, but it's helped me! And I wanted to talk about my dyslexia because it, like so many things, affects my writing. When I don't sleep much, writing is harder because I struggle with finding the right words, but when I say I have trouble with words, it's literal. I can't think of the color "maroon."
