HOW TO HELP YOUR DOG DEAL WITH SEASONAL ALLERGIES
Tumblr media
For some people, seasonal allergies are a real pain. Whether you’re bothered by a runny nose, itchy eyes, or endless sneezing, it can be a tough time of year to endure.
Just like their human parents, some dogs suffer from the aggravating effects of seasonal allergies as well. Besides chemicals such as those found in household cleaning products, cigarette smoke and certain perfumes, dogs can also be allergic to natural, seasonal substances. This can include plant and tree pollens, mold spores, dust, feathers and fleas.
A dog’s allergy symptoms are generally similar to those experienced by humans: the immune system overreacts to one or more offending substances, leading to itchiness and irritation. Your dog may lick or scratch themselves, develop irritated eyes, or sneeze repeatedly. Some dogs experience itchy, swollen skin, while others suffer from diarrhea and vomiting. In certain cases, a secondary infection may develop.
Here are a few things you should do to help control any discomfort your dog may be dealing with due to seasonal allergies and reduce the risk of more serious problems.
Tumblr media
ADAPT YOUR DAILY WALK ROUTINE
If possible, avoid walking your dog in the early morning or late afternoon, when pollen levels are typically highest. Steer clear of fields and parks where offending plants are common.
When you return home, wipe your dog’s body and paws with a moist cloth or a hypoallergenic, fragrance-free grooming wipe from your local pet store. This will remove excess pollen and other allergens from your dog’s fur and skin without the hassle of a full bath. Pay special attention to the paws, as the sensitive skin here is often affected by allergens.
Some pet parents soak their dog’s paws in apple cider vinegar to remove pollen and other substances. If using this method, mix 2 parts water with 1 part apple cider vinegar.  Another solution is to put boots on your dog’s paws to prevent them from stepping in irritants and then tracking them into your house.
Tumblr media
CLEAR THE AIR… AND OTHER SURFACES
Inside your home, regularly change air filters to cut down on airborne allergens that enter through open doors and windows. Running an air conditioner or a dehumidifier will help remove moisture from interior air, making it harder for mold to grow in your home. Minimize the amount of time your dog spends in damp environments, such as basements, bathrooms, or laundry rooms, as these places are more susceptible to mold growth. Vacuum at least once a week, and remember to clean curtains and rugs that may have picked up dust and pollen.
Protect your dog from backyard dangers. Many popular veggies like onions, garlic, tomatoes, and chives are poisonous to dogs and should be fenced off to prevent your furry friend from getting into them.
Tumblr media
DON’T SLEEP ON IT
It's important to keep the surfaces your dog sleeps on clean, as they can quickly become covered in allergens. To achieve this, wash them in hot water every week. To make the task easier, consider putting towels or blankets on top of beds and chairs, and make sure to keep any offending substances away from the surface underneath. Also, don't forget to wash any soft toys your dog plays with regularly.
Tumblr media
JUMP IN THE BATH
To prevent dry and itchy skin in dogs, it is recommended to bathe them more often with the advice of a veterinarian. While washing their fur, use a gentle, hypoallergenic anti-itch shampoo that contains a soothing ingredient like oatmeal, aloe, or evening primrose oil. Some dog owners prefer to give their pets a 10-minute soak in a bath mixed with a gentle moisturizing oil.
Tumblr media
SUPPLEMENT YOUR DOG’S DIET
Consider giving your furry friend a natural dietary supplement like fish oil or a fatty acid such as omega-3 or omega-6 oil to alleviate itchiness and promote healthy skin. Coconut oil has also been shown to be effective in suppressing allergic reactions and improving skin health. To ensure your dog's overall well-being, it is essential to keep their drinking water and bowl clean and free of any contaminants.
Tumblr media
FURTHER TREATMENTS
If your dog is constantly licking, scratching, or chewing, and has red, irritated skin or hair loss, it's best to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Depending on the severity of the problem, a professional can provide more aggressive treatments such as antihistamines, steroids, or allergy shots, which are also known as immunotherapy.

Insane Theory—Spoilers.
Now that Chapter 6 is over let's discuss Chapter 7 of Twisted Wonderland. Specifically how Idia and Ace will play into the Chapter.
Ace and Deuce were out like lights for Chapter 6 so I know for a fact Chapter 7 is starting with them recapping what happened. Grim is not safe from this because he's theorized to be part demon from an ancient species about 1000 years ago who could be based off Cath Palug/Jabberwocky/Chernabog.
Turning your attention to the fact that Ace is the last one who hasn't got his UM revealed out of the first year's means it is big. An Ace in the Hole if you will.
Not to mention that his last name means "Trap" in Italian, which is a 16th century game where the Ace is placed above the king. It's essentially about winning the last trick with the lowest card (Ace, Yuu, or Grim). I'll assume Ace's UM is reactionary/accumulative like Deuce's instead of like Vil's where certain requirements must be met before he can react/clear the magic.
Unless he already has his UM and waiting till the last moment... or it imbues Yuu with magic (last trick, lowest card)...
Anyways! Idia!
I theorized that Idia's mom has a UM that cleanses minor blot (which is paradoxical) and how magic is passed from the mother and heavily influenced by the mother while the father is the one who bears the curse because in stories, specifically revenge stories, "Sins of the Father" is heavily prevalent and I def believe a world that is Based on stories would make something like that possible.
Idia is heavily associated with death and he shut himself out from the world because of the guilt he felt at playing a hand in Ortho's death....
I already said that Ortho is more like Hades in his motivations to destroy the world in an effort to free his brother from the curse so...
Thanatos and Hypnos are often considered twins because death and sleep go hand in hand. It's why Ereshkigal's domain is titled "Night Relief" and also "the Great Earth" great meaning vast not exceptional.
Malleus having an existential crisis during Chapter 6 seems to set the tone for Chapter 7 with Lilia having major death flags. Which means Idia will probably play a major role because he'd understand what it's like to be unable to move on and grieve properly.
Idia not having a UM would be hilarious tho because the generational curse wants to mitigate blot as well as keep the head of the family working so Idia having a pseudo UM would be funny to me (and interesting)... idia being able to resist Malleus' UM due to his generational curse would be hysterical.
Malleus being able to reverse the effects of the River is ..... hmmmmmmmmmmm. Incherestink. Just how powerful would Malleus' UM be? How powerful would his OB be????
Malleus analysis when?

Being Allergic To Allergies
When I complained to my surgeon that I was still having symptoms of sinus problems, he stuck a big metal tube up my nostril and worked it around for half an hour. Then he stuck it up my other nostril.
And now I no longer complain to my sinus surgeon--about anything.
Then he asked me how long it's been since I was allergy tested. It turns out people with allergies should be tested every few years or so, because in some cases allergies come and go, such as when you get older and your body starts to break down. Not that I'm describing me. Nope.
It had been ten years, so the next week they used up their entire supply of needles on me. If something swelled up and turned red, it wasn't a rebellious pimple: It was Mother Nature thumbing her nose.
Tumblr media
Mother Nature has a big nose.
My entire arm, upper and lower, looked like a Braille dictionary. I was allergic to everything on Earth, half of everything on the Moon, and dust from Mars.
Okay, so that wasn't really true. For instance, I'm not allergic to Timothy Grass, who I'm fairly sure is the lead singer for Three Dog Night. Much to my shock, I'm not allergic to ragweed. Also, although I once had an allergic reaction after fighting a fire in a pine woods, I'm not allergic to pine. There must have been some cottonwood, birch, ash, red cedar, walnut, oak or hickory among those burning pines.
My cat allergy was confirmed, but--surprise!--I'm no longer allergic to dogs. We still aren't getting another one, though: We had the perfect dog for a decade, and he's not so easily replaceable.
Tumblr media
Beowulf was very cuddly, and it turns out he never got his dander up.
Otherwise it was all the usual: molds, grasses, dust, politicians, and those dirty, nasty bed mites, which are much like politicians but with higher morals. Plants? Russian Thistle, English Plantain, Bermuda Grass--none a problem as long as I stay here in the good old USA.
Now, all but two of these tested at a "moderate" level. Only two read as severe and one of those was, naturally, Aspergillus, which can cause infections all over the place--including the sinuses.
It's a mold, which is a type of fungus, and (I learned) it can be really, really nasty. Being allergic to Aspergillus is like being especially susceptible to the Black Death.
Then came the real shock, and the second allergy testing at the "severe" level:
Horses.
If you know my wife, you get why hearing that was like being ... well, kicked by a horse.
Tumblr media
An entire horse-sized battlefield, loaded with Mark-seeking guided dander.
Emily is what's known as a "horse person".
Tumblr media
Wait--she's wearing my hat!
And what are we going to do about this? Well ... nothing. I mean, sure, Emily will clean up as soon as she gets home, but it's not like I'm going to demand she gives up horses. It would be like telling me to give up chocolate, something I'm NOT allergic to. You gotta do what you love.
As for me, I have to choose between allergy shots and trying to get rid of mold like Penicillium, Eicoccum, and that wonderful Asperigillus, all of which can be found on ...
Books.
Guess I'll take the shots.

The Winter of Our Discontent
Yep. It is snowing again. Lightly, thirty-four degrees and sometimes it switches to fat raindrops. This has been the longest winter/not spring. We had eighty degree weather, then back to snow, it was too wet to garden, now it is too cold. My tulips are peeking up but at a stalemate. I’m sure if they could retreat back down, they would. The farmers are anxious, the elevators are anxious, the seed…

13 Signs Your Dog Has Pollen Allergies
Tumblr media
Has your dog been itching, scratching, biting, or licking itself more often than usual? Have these symptoms been more obvious since warmer weather came about? Do you see any abnormal signs related to your dogs’ ears or eyes? Like humans, dogs can develop pollen allergies and they can show symptoms any time of the year. Spring, summer, and fall are usually the time of year when pollen allergies cause most discomfort to allergic pets.
Check out these signs of pollen allergies in dogs. If your dog is exhibiting any of these symptoms, be sure to visit your family vet and have them checked out. If the symptoms persist or keep on recurring, consider a visit to a pet skin specialist in order to help identify and treat your dogs’ pollen or other environmental allergies.
1. Scratching
While still outdoors or after coming indoors, do you notice your dog scratching and itching themselves? A mild, persistent itch or furious scratching can both be indicators of an allergy (including a pollen allergy) due to increased exposure from being outdoors. Itchiness is one of the common initial symptoms seen in allergic dogs.
2. Hives
When exposed to allergens, people break out in rashes and hives. This can happen to dogs too. Hives can develop anywhere on the skin, though it is easier to see them on sparsely haired areas such as the belly and armpits. Hives are also commonly seen on the head, face, or sides of the legs. Dogs may have on and off development of bumps (or raised tufts of hair in multiple locations on the body), based on exposure to pollen or other allergens. Some dogs with hives may even have persistent raised bumps for a few days, even weeks!
3. Excessive Licking
The belly, paws, and private parts (around the anus) are areas that dogs may lick excessively when they feel itchiness in these areas. When it comes to excessive or obsessive licking in dogs, the most likely cause is allergies. As mentioned above, itchiness is the initial sign of allergies. Licking is surely a sign of excessive itchiness in dogs.
4. Puffy Eyes
Red, puffy eyes are a common symptom of allergies in humans. While dogs are not as often affected by these symptoms, some dogs will also exhibit these signs. Hair loss around the eyes is another symptom to watch for. One or both eyes may be affected.
5. Eye Discharge
Watery eye discharge is a possible symptom of environmental allergies in dogs. This sign may be the only sign related to eyes or may be seen along with eye puffiness or redness. Sometimes the discharge may turn mucoid (pus like) and have a green or yellow color to it.
6. Face Rubbing
If you notice your dog rubbing their face up against surfaces such as the carpet, couches, or pillows, this is a clear show of their attempt to alleviate the itchiness. You guessed it, face rubbing is also a form of itchiness in dogs. Some dogs will try and rub their entire body across one of these surfaces. Scooting (aka bum scooching) is another sign of itchiness related to rubbing of a body part to alleviate their itch.
7. Hair Loss
As allergies progress or persist, the scratching and inflammation of skin leads to trauma of hair follicles. This leads to hair loss. Some dogs may even nibble and bite at their skin causing hair loss. This is often seen at the belly, legs, and tail area. Some dogs may generally have less hair on the body due to environmental allergies and related skin inflammation.
8. Red, Stinky Ears
Allergens such as pollen not only affect the skin but also cause inflammation in dog ears. This can lead to red, irritated ears that may become infected. This will lead to smelly, stinky ears that are obviously red and inflamed. Some dogs may only have mild discomfort and may not show the dramatic sign of reddened, smelly ears. Instead they may exhibit milder head shaking initially.
9. Head Shaking
Dogs may shake their head because of the irritation in their ears and may not want you to pet them on their head. Head shaking can be a sign of itchiness in the ears, or a sign of discomfort due to swollen ears, an ear infection, etc.
10. Red, Irritated Skin
The skin around the mouth, chin, paws, neck, and belly typically becomes red, inflamed, and itchy in dogs affected by pollen allergies, or due to other allergens in the environment.
11. Hot Spots
Also called moist eczema, hot spots occur generally due to excessive moisture in a local part of the skin. Commonly seen in areas with moist hair from biting at themselves in areas such as the sides of the body or tail base, some breeds such as Labradors are more prone to hot spots. Hot spots can be quite discomforting for the pet, and are often infected too.
12. Sneezing
Achoo! If you see your dog sneezing more than normal, this can be a sign of pollen allergies. Reverse sneezing is another sign of pollen allergies, and may be seen during their outdoor activity, or during indoor time.
13. Sensitive Skin
Dogs can often develop sensitive skin that twitches or crawls upon touching it. As allergies cause discomfort and inflammation of the skin as the primary sign, some hardy dogs may not show many other signs but will exhibit crawling of the skin when petted on their back. Some dogs may love back scratches almost too much! While we can’t blame a dog for loving attention and wanting to get pets and scratches, if your dog shows the above signs along with an increased interest in being scratched, allergies should be considered.
If you notice your dog has any of these symptoms or a combination of the above symptoms, be sure to visit your vet and have them checked out. If signs only occur during the spring and summer, pollen allergies are likely the problem. If your dog shows these symptoms year-round, or at other times of the year, this does not rule out pollen allergy. Rather, a combination of multiple allergies may be affecting your pet with non-seasonal skin or ear problems.
These signs are the general signs of allergies in dogs, thus most environmental allergies can lead to these symptoms. To help diagnose the exact cause of your pets’ allergies, a veterinary dermatologist evaluation may be needed.
Your family veterinarian can help diagnose the cause of your pets’ symptoms or may refer you to a pet dermatologist to help find not only the cause of the allergies, but also desensitize your pet against the pollen allergens or other environmental allergens. This way, your pet can be comfortable and progression of allergies to a more severe condition can be prevented. It is always best to make sure your dog gets a thorough diagnosis and the right treatment that best suits their needs and long-term health.

In Sickness And In Health || Clark Kent x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You're terrified that your boyfriend Clark —the local superhero and most perfect man on the planet— will see you sick, so you forbid him to visit you while you have a cold. However, when he shows up at your door saying he misses you, he proves that your insecurities were unwarranted.
Warnings: fluff, established relationship, reader being a little insecure, hurt/comfort kinda, my shitty titles (I tried my best :c )
English is not my first language
Word count: 2200
Notes: I wrote this for me while I was recovering from a cold that had me in bed feeling miserable for days. I was a mess and I felt ugly so I wrote this silly little thing to cheer me up as I continued to descend into the Henry Cavill filmography rabbit hole lol I decided to share it bc why not? Hope you guys like it c:
Tumblr media
You hated being sick. You hated feeling weak and tired all day, spending hours in bed surrounded by used tissues. You hated that your throat felt scratchy and that your stuffy nose made you have to choose between eating and breathing. You hated having your daily routine interrupted by a stupid cold, but most of all you hated not feeling like yourself.
You were a mess when you got sick, tangled hair tied up in a messy bun and wearing pajamas all day. You usually didn't move from your bed, which resulted in mountains of used tissues piling up on every surface near you. Multiple cups with leftover tea and a packet of crackers decorated the bedside table, being your main source of food for the day. It was an unpleasant sight so you preferred to spend your sick days alone in the quiet of your home where no one could see your red, irritated nose or the filth you were living in.
You had specifically asked Clark not to come by your house for that very reason. You loved him to death, but you weren't prepared to let him see you in that state. You felt ugly when you were sick, almost unworthy to be in the presence of someone as perfect and magnificent as him. Clark was literally the perfect man, he never got sick or had to deal with colds in the winter or allergies in the spring. It was almost impossible to see him disheveled since he was able to stop a building from collapsing with his bare hands without a single hair on his head moving out of place. You knew he loved you and didn't care what you looked like, but you couldn't help but feel self-conscious about it since he was literally perfect. So, to save yourself trouble and to concentrate your energy on recovering, you asked him not to come see you for a few days.
Clark respected your wishes at first, but after two days without seeing you he couldn't wait. He missed you and didn't understand your insistence on being alone, it wasn't as if he could catch a cold from you. So when he finished his shift at the Daily Planet he headed to your apartment —stopping on the way just to buy some groceries and a bouquet of flowers for you. He didn't text you that he was going to see you, knowing that if he did you would find some excuse or some way to convince him to go home instead. That's why you were surprised to see him there when you peeked through the peephole in the door before opening it.
"Clark, what are you doing here?" You exclaimed with a mixture of surprise and annoyance. He wasn't supposed to be there. "I thought I told you not to come here!"
"I know, but I missed you." He pouted and you had to look away from the peep hole before he managed to convince you to let him in with those hurt puppy dog eyes of his. You missed him too, but you were in no condition to be around anyone, let alone him.
"I brought food, I thought maybe I could cook for you while you rest." Clark insisted when you didn't respond. You couldn't help but smile at his thoughtfulness, he sounded so genuinely interested in helping you and taking care of you that it almost broke your heart to have to say no to him.
"I'm not hungry," you lied. "You should go home, Clark."
"Why won't you let me take care of you?" he sighed in frustration. You leaned your forehead against the wood door, debating whether you should tell him the truth. You suddenly felt stupid for having such a specific and probably irrelevant insecurity, but it wasn't like you could control it.
Despite the fact that you and Clark had been dating for quite a while, you still had a fair amount of 'first times'. You hadn't yet gone on vacation together for example, and he still hadn't met your family —though not by his own choice, he really wanted to. And, among other things, he had never seen you being sick. It was such a silly thing, but you felt ugly and disgusting and all you wanted to do was disappear under the covers and not come out until the cold was cured so no human being would ever have to see you in that state.
"It's not that I don't want to," you muttered more to yourself than for him to hear, though you knew he could do it because of his powers. You fiddled nervously with the seam of your t-shirt, feeling a little silly for having to talk about this out loud. "It's just that I'm not in the mood to have guests."
"I'm not a guest, I'm your boyfriend."
“Claaark!” You pouted, begging the universe not to make you say out loud what your real problem was. You heard him let out a chuckle from the other side of the door and rolled your eyes, frustrated that he found the situation funny.
"What?" His voice was a perfect mix of confusion and amusement.
"It's just that... I'm not presentable, the house is a mess and I feel ugly. I'd rather you didn't see me like this."
There was a long silence. Your fingers began to tug at the threads of the seam of the hem of your t-shirt while your teeth nervously nibbled at the skin of your lips, waiting for a response from your boyfriend. The tension grew with every second, time seemed to drag on as the uncertainty of silence ate you up inside. And then you heard a laugh.
Clark was laughing.
It wasn't a mocking or evil laugh, more an expression of his own surprise at your revelation. But it still bothered you. "I'm sorry, is this funny to you?"
"Yeah, a little." He replied with a chuckle and you let out a sigh of genuine disbelief. "I mean, you know I can see you through the door, right?" your eyes grew wide at the realization that due to his powers he had been watching you all this time. You turned quickly, facing away from the door as you hid your face in your hands.
"Clark, stop it right now!" You ordered him and he let out another chuckle. "I mean it!"
"I'm sorry, it's just that I find it a little ridiculous. I mean, you have to know I couldn't care less about how you look. All I want to do is be with you and take care of you, baby." It melted your heart to hear the sincerity in her voice. It wasn't like you didn't know that, but it was nice to hear him say it, to reassure you that his love for you was genuine and pure.
A part of you was dying to be pampered by him, to lose yourself in the warmth of Clark's strong arms as he held you against his chest, soothing all your aches and pains with his presence alone. It was tempting to think of him pacing around the apartment, making tea and cooking dinner while you rested between the sheets. But the other part of you —-the part that was usually in control of your decisions— hesitated, afraid of shattering some sort of illusion or image Clark had of you. It was silly and it only got sillier every time you thought about it, but you still couldn't bring yourself to open the door for him.
"I know, but still... I'm not ready for you to see me like this. I look hideous."
"You could never look hideous, baby." Clark sighed. His voice sounded closer and clearer, an indicator that he had moved closer to the door.
"You're just saying that because you love me and love has made you stupid and blind."
"Well, yeah, of course I love you. But also, you truly are the most beautiful woman in the world." You smiled to yourself, feeling your insides filling with that comforting warm feeling that you could only describe as the flame of love. Clark always knew just what to say to make all your problems go away. It was one of his best abilities, even if it was under-appreciated when compared to the rest of his powers.
"Flattery will get you nowhere." You lied, knowing full well that his sweet words were slowly softening the hard protective shield you had raised around your heart.
"C'mon, sweetheart! I'm gonna have to see you while you're sick eventually. Or what, once we live together you plan to lock yourself in the bedroom for a week and make me sleep on the couch so I don't see you with a cold? Or maybe I'll have to rent a room in a hotel until you get better? Is that what you want?"
You were silent for a moment as your brain tried to process what he had said, not his ridiculous options for staying apart when you were sick, but the part where he mentioned a future together. You'd be lying if you said you hadn't already imagined what your life together would be like for the next forty years. You wanted to wake up next to Clark every morning, share your free time with him and grow old by his side. He was the love of your life, you were sure of that. But what you didn't know was that he was also thinking about your future together.
"Once we live together?" you repeated in an excited whisper, the smile on your face widening. "You think about that stuff?"
"Of course I do!" he assured you, sounding slightly offended that you thought otherwise. It hadn't been his intention to make it obvious that every night before bed he imagined his life with you, but he wasn't hiding it either. He was shamelessly in love with you so why bother disguising it. "I want everything with you, sweetheart. I love you."
All worries faded from your mind, banished by the echo of Clark's sweet words. Your hands worked quickly over the locks on the door, removing the latch before turning the key to unlock it. He had won, there was no way you could tell him to leave after such a confession of love. All you wanted to do was hug him and lose yourself in the warmth of his body until you melted into one, show him how much you loved him and how important his words were to you. It was more than the expression of a wish or a projection of the future. It was a promise. The promise of love and commitment. He wanted to be with you in sickness and in health, in good times and in hard times. Clark loved you as much as you loved him and that was all you needed to know to feel better.
"You cheated." You joked as you opened the door, stepping aside to let your boyfriend in. He smiled in amusement at your childish pout, letting out a slight chuckle as he set the shopping bag aside to close the door behind him
"I was just being honest." Clark looked at you with such adoration in his eyes —his blue orbs glowing with the spark of love— that you couldn't help but feel self-conscious. Blood rushed to your cheeks, making you feel warm for the first time since you'd caught a cold.
"Stop it!" you whined, hiding your face in his chest as a defense mechanism to cope with how vulnerable you felt.
You'd never been good at receiving compliments and always felt awkward when someone said something nice about you, unsure how to respond other than with a shy smile. And even though Clark seemed to make it his favorite pastime to give you compliments, it hadn't gotten any better. You still felt silly every time he complimented your outfit before going out to dinner or when he told you how beautiful you looked the next morning when you woke up in his arms. But just because you didn't know how to respond to his beautiful words other than with smiles and incoherent sounds of happiness didn't mean you didn't appreciate them. On the contrary, you loved the comforting warmth that flooded your insides every time he smiled at you, looking at you with pure love in his eyes. It made you feel special in a way that no one ever had before. It reassured you that you were on the correct path to happiness.
"I love you." You mumbled against Clark's chest and felt him tighten his grip on you, trapping you in his strong arms. You let the warmth of his body envelop you, slowly dissipating all your troubles. His simple presence was more powerful than any drug or medicine you could take, effectively making you forget all your problems in a matter of seconds. His hug alone was able to lift your spirits, restoring color and joy to your tired expression. That was the effect he had on you.
"I love you too, sweetheart." Clark whispered against your hair, placing a delicate kiss on the top of your head. "Now, will you let me take care of you?"

It would be a disastrously great story to tell your grandkids (if you had grandkids). Quite embarrassing really, telling someone about how naive and oblivious you were (still are.)
It was spring. The flowers in full bloom. Allergies spreading like wildfire due to pollen. Thankfully, it was raining cats and dogs, so no stuffy noses tonight. You decided to come back from your hometown two days before spring break ended. As much as you were homesick after spending so long at college, your family made you feel homesick for college.
It was torturous. Questions and questions about your college life were thrown at you left and right. From potentially having a significant other to your major that you were taking to who you were friends with to being disappointed in your college major to asking about your grades to being disappointed you party to just being disappointed.
All in all, truly you loved your family. Really, you do. Your aunt made great pastries. Your dad a great cook. Your uncle made really funny (bad.) jokes. Yet, they found some way to critic your every decision and move you make. You hated it.
Your shoes squeaked on tiled stairs. Lugging up your suitcase, you just prayed you didn’t fall. The tiles were wet because people’s shoes were wet. You did not want to pay a hospital bill after barely paying for college.
By the time you got to your dorm, you were already half asleep, running on an overpriced yogurt parfait from the airport. The soft comforter of your bed calling out to you like a siren’s song.
You were lulling off to dreamscape when a loud ominous creak filled the silence. “C’mon. You gotta be better than that. Lock your doors.” Luke’s “charming” voice replaced your peace. “Some creep could waltz in and kidnap you in your sleep.”
“Supposed you’re that creep?”
Luke has been attached to your hip since highschool, freshman year. Both of you have suffered through each other’s numerous cringy phases (only to bring them up for the annual birthday post on instagram).
He was one of the friends your parents despise. They always ranted about how they’ve been a bad influence to you since highschool.
“Depends.” The bed dipped under his weight. “Do you think you look okay enough to go out?”
“I guess, but I feel disgusting.” You answered. Confusion swimming through your mind. Where was Luke going with this?
“Are you upset because of a recent event?”
“Kinda.”
“Upset enough to stay holed up the whole evening?” Luke rephrased.
“No.”
“Okay.” Decision.
You heard his windbreaker swish as his arms wrapped around your waist. “Luke!” Like a bag of potatoes you were tossed over his shoulder. “You fucking—!”
He grabbed what he was originally came in your dorm for and exited. Silena, Chris and Clarisse were waiting for Luke and now, you. “Welcome back!” Silena said, masking her shock.
No one knew you were coming back home early and Luke wasn’t surprised. As much as you wanted to stay in your dorm and sleep, you were glad to be with your friends.
The restaurant was loud and lively. The rain ceasing. College students were celebrating their final few days before classes started up again. The occasional drunks here to watch the multiple football games going on. Your friend group chose to celebrate.
The dim lighting was a stark contrast to the bright TVs that played various football and soccer games. Drinks slid down the bar into the awaiting consumer’s hand. Alcohol got everyone in a better mood during the night (though the same cannot be said the morning after).
A waiter placed down the five shots Luke had ordered, in toast of your unexpected return and the final days of spring break. The shot glasses made a tiny clink before the liquid burned your throat. It left a warm feeling in your chest.
Silena and Clarisse went to take photos via Chris the cameraman. The three went out to the porch of the restaurant bar. You opted out and Luke stayed with you. You weren’t exactly in the nicest clothes.
Another round of shots were placed on the table. Luke ran his fingers through his curls and checked his phone. “What’s bothering you?” He asked.
“What?” You tore your gaze from the two girls and looked at Luke.
“You said you were upset about something, but not too upset to not go out.” Luke explained. “Better to get it off your shoulders than to bottle it up.”
You roll your eyes at his last sentence and sat up in the cushioned restaurant chair. “Family.” Luke laughed a little at that. He’s known how perfect your family wants you to be.
You shove your face into your hands as if you were reliving the reunion all over again. “I didn’t even do anything bad or get in serious trouble this time!”
Luke nodded along slowly, taking in your every word. You can’t tell what he’s thinking as you continue on your little rant. Yet his face shifts as you rant.
“Why are your grades like that?”
“I saw your Instagram post. Drinking? Really?”
You parrot some of the questions your family said to you, with their fake smiles and judgmental eyes. You were old enough to drink! “And then they started talking my ear off about you all. Clarisse! Thalia, you—Silena and Chris” The list goes on. Luke knows it. You know it.
“Why are you friends with that temperamental girl? Lord knows the trouble you’ll be roped into with her.” You mocked your parents, aunts and uncles’ words. “I don’t like how that Thalia girl. Too rebellious, disrespectful too!”
“That one girl is an airhead. Head in the clouds.”
“Don’t get me started on that Luke boy again.”
“Get better friends.”
“Maybe you hang out with a different group.”
“They piss me off! And well maybe they’re concerned about my wellbeing, but—they keep harping me about everything little thing I do.” You groaned and rubbed your eyes exhausted. “Which is why I came back early.”
“So piss them off.” Like that was the hardest thing you do. You unintentionally trigger their judgmental side without even trying.
“What?”
“It’s what I do to my dad. I piss him off most of the time when he tries to come back.” Luke shrugged. “If they hate all of us so much. Date one of us, shit—date me, you’ve known me the longest. I think they’d be pretty pissed about you dating a bad influence.”
“That’s so childish.” You commented, but it was good, but it could work. Rebellion never hurt anyone that bad. Well, maybe your aunt will have a “heart attack”, but it should be fine.
And you were out of options to try and get your family off your back.
So the next afternoon, when Clarisse was out, Luke and you sat on your bed and conjured up a contract for this temporary relationship; a day before break was over.
“I don’t see why we need a contract.” Luke sipped on a juicebox. The sunlight providing a nice atmosphere in your dorm room.
“I saw it work on a show I watched kinda.” You whispered the word “kinda” under your breath. It was a long time since you’ve seen the show.
Luke raised an eyebrow and set the empty juice box on your desk. “So…uh—terms and conditions.” You typed out on a Google doc in big bolded letters. How do you start this?
“We could “date” from now until the start of summer? I think that is a long enough rebellion.” You suggested and looked at Luke. “I have to go back home for Easter and my little sister’s birthday, but then I have that family trip in summer…”
“Sure.” Luke agreed.
You looked at him silently asking him to elaborate. “From now until that family trip is over. I’ll go to Easter, the birthday and the trip.”
“You aren’t trying to mooch off me for the trip are you?”
Luke slid the computer to him and typed out the first terms and conditions. He ignored your question with a smile and a shake of his head. “You have to come with me when it’s Mother’s Day though.”
You agreed to that relatively quickly. Your mom and dad were always out of town that day. “I’m fine with kissing on the cheek and forehead and holding hands, if you are?”
“What? No lips?” Luke teased with a grin.
“I haven’t had my first kiss yet.” You muttered in embarrassment.
“Fine, no lips.” You were slightly surprised Luke didn’t tease you for not having your first kiss yet. He typed it on the computer. “And no sex.”
“No sex.” You agreed. “And we cannot let the others know. They’ll start talking and then it’ll get to my family somehow—”
“Okay…no sex and no talking about the fake relationship.” Luke chucked and typed it on the computer. “This seems good enough for a contract right?” He still thinks the contract is stupid.
You smack his shoulder. “This is serious, Luke! If I wanna piss of my parents I have to do it right.”
“Okay, sweetie.” He spoke sarcastically and typed his name at the end of the document. You did the same. “But there is no right way to piss off someone. You just do.”
After signing the temporary dating contract, Luke and you talked about the story of how you got together.
Luke and you supposedly have had some unrequited feelings during highschool. Both of you began talking over spring break after a drunk conversation and decided to give dating a shot.
Then, there was the fact that Luke and you had to announce the relationship. So, social media it was. Which prompted you to grab his hand. “Where are we going?” Luke asked as he was dragged off your bed.
“A cafe.” You held his hand, fingers lacing together. “I’m hungry after all that and it would be great publicity if we went out holding hands.”
“Whatever you say.” Luke rolled his eyes, though he didn’t mean it. “Then I guess I’ll be the good boyfriend and pay.”
“Really?” You asked and looked back at him.
He shrugged. “Why not.”
Luke and you held hands and talked about whatever came to mind. Like you usually did as bestfriends. He opened the cafe door for you and paid for your food and drink.
Maybe “dating” Luke won’t be the worst thing ever. Rebelling doesn’t seem to be all that bad now. Maybe everything will turn out fine. You rebel against your perfect family and Luke will get a free trip as a reward. Yeah, you’re sure things will turn out okay. Maybe.

Red Haired Pirates Incorrect quotes
Just pure chaos
Tumblr media
Shanks: When do you go to sleep?
You: Whenever I collapse is entirely up to the gods
Shanks: Hey, Kid! Do you wanna go celebrate with me? You: Shanks, you know I can't be seen in public with you. Shanks: Okay, a simple "no" would be fine.
Benn: I have a bad feeling about this... Shanks: What do you mean? Benn: Don't you ever get that little voice in your head that tells you if you're going to get into trouble? Shanks: No? You: That actually explains so much.
You: This is a judgement free zone. *Pulls out a knife the size of their forearm* You: And I mean it.
You: Shanks, you look deep in thought. What’s wrong? Shanks: Did you know you can look at any object and know what it’s like to lick it? Even if you’ve never touched it before? You: I’m never asking you anything ever again.
You: How is spring not everyone’s favorite season? The trees are PINK, guys! Benn: Allergies are also a problem, y'know. You: But pink. Shanks: And it's hot. You: PINK!
Shanks: I like to think of myself as a semi responsible adult here. Benn: The kid is 70% of your impulse control and you know this Shanks. You: I feel like Shanks is the more responsible one of us two though. Shanks: We are both 70% of each others' impulse control. You: Just two lil beasts in pinwheel hats spinning on the merry-go-round at dangerous velocities, holding each other’s hands so the other doesn’t fall off.
Shanks: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, that’s fucked up. Like c'mon, you know I’m dumb as hell!
*Shanks is reading a Clifford The Big Red Dog book* You, watching: How did he get to be so big? Do they ever explain that? Shanks: Well, Emily’s love for him grew, and so did he. You: Well, your dog is pretty small. Guess that says something about you, huh? Shanks, angrily shutting his book: YOU’RE SMALL! WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT YOUR PARENTS?!?!

"Hey, where's your cattleman?" Spencer asked as you sat down in your usual seat.
"I er, I need to find a new one."
"Did you lose it? We've probably got time to find it before we take off-" Spencer said, already starting to stand up.
"Nah, I didn't lose it. I gave it to Mia," You said. "I'll go lookin' for a new one tomorrow,"
"Isn't that your favourite one?" JJ asked, turning to you.
"Yes ma'am," You answered,
“Wait, is this the one you wouldn’t let any of us try on?” Derek asked, looking up from his ipod.
“That would be the one,” You said with a small nod.
“Oh man, you must be getting withdrawal,”
“A little,” You joked. "She's a special kid. Plus, I think she might’ve tried to steal it off me anyway. Y’know she called me old? Three times? Imma spring chicken,"
"I don't know about that," Emily teased, "You're nearly thirty,"
"'Scuse me ma'am, Imma spring chicken."
When the conversation dialled down, you sighed slightly, sliding your hands into your pocket out of boredom. You furrowed your eyebrows when your fingers brushed against a small chain. You gently removed it from your pocket.
"Where'd you get that chain?" You asked, seeing Mia fiddle with it, running her fingers along the links.
She shrugged, "I found it on the floor a few years ago,"
"'s pretty," You commented, she looked at you in disbelief. "What?"
"I wore it once, it turned my skin green,"
"Maybe you're just a zombie." You said with a shrug
"Rich coming from you old man."
"Hey, you okay?" You look up at JJ in confusion and she motioned to your eyes, red and brimmed with tears.
"Oh, yeah," You clear your throat wiping your eyes slightly, "Allergies."
She has a knowing look on her face, but goes along with it. "Allergies are the worst,"
"Tell me about it." You muttered.
"But," She whispered, despite the team chatting amongst themselves, "If you are… upset or concerned about anything, I'm always here if you want to talk about it."
You pause for a moment, brushing your thumb against the chain as you frowned. "I-" You paused, "I dunno," You stuff the chain into your pocket as you looked at JJ, giving her a small smile. "'M fine," You gave her a nod, "Just missing ma cattleman, is all,"
"Uh-huh," JJ said with a raised eyebrow before she gave you a small smile, dropping the subject (not wanting to push you). "Alright, well, I believe we are all going for drinks, you should join us."
You look unsure for a moment before nodding, "A'right," You said, "Just don't tell my Mama I'm getting drunk,"
“Ooo cowboy’s finally gonna get drunk?” Derek asked with a grin, “How about you sing some good ol’ country music for us?”
“It’s gonna take a lotta shots to get to that point,”
“Well, we have tomorrow off,” Rossi smirked.
God damnit.
“Y’all do know I don’t just listen to country, right?”
“Yeah, okay,” Emily grinned, “What else do you listen to?”
“I started listenin’ to er, what’s her name?... Arianna Grande, she’s a’right,” You said with a nod, furrowing your eyebrows as the team all let out a laugh (minus Spencer, who was just a bit confused). “What?”
“You listen to Arianna Grande?”
“She’s good!” You argue, “N’ she hits the whistle tones well. I listen to Dua Lipa ‘n’ Selena Gomez sometimes too,”
“Oh my god…”
“What?”
“You have the music taste of a teenage girl!” Derek snorted loudly.
“JJ, defend me here,” You said, turning to JJ.
“Sorry cowboy,” She teased, “They’re right…” You groaned, letting your head fall to the back of your seat.
“God damnit.”

Let. Me. In. (RoosterxF!Reader)
Tumblr media
Prompt: Hi, I would like to request for a sickfic for Bradley, reader is stubborn as a bull and refuses to admit she’s sick and she gets sicker until Bradley slowly gets her be vulnerable. And in the end the reader is nursed back to health by Bradley.
A/N: Sorry this took me a week to write, I was super tired after work all week, but I hope you like this!  Let me know if I should start also posting these to Ao3!
Rating: T for brief swearing by Bradley
Word Count: 1,239
You weren’t sick.  It was probably just allergies.  It was the middle of April and things were blooming, so your throat was sore.  Of course you ignored the nagging voice in the back of your head that sounded suspiciously like Bradley’s reminding you that you didn’t have allergies, at least to pollen.  Dogs, sure, but not pollen.
It was allergy season.  Sure, there was a spring cold going around the elementary school you taught at, but you wanted to think that you taught your kiddos enough about hand washing technique at the beginning of the year that they shouldn’t get too sick.
Then, two kids were absent from your class for a fever last week.  Two kids wasn’t enough for you to worry too much though, so you decided not to mention it to your boyfriend Bradley.  You knew he would’ve checked you over for signs of sickness immediately. because he was a bit of a mother-hen when it came to any aspect of your well-being.
It’s not like you minded Bradley fussing over you.  You were just used to taking care of yourself and not relying on anyone, so old habits die hard.
You started to regret not telling him this week though when your throat started get scratchy and you were going to bed earlier than normal, at 8:30 or 9 instead of your typical 10 o’clock bedtime.
Bradley was busy with work, and tried chalking up your exhaustion to just being close to the end of the school year.  But there was part of him that suspected it was something more.
Kicking your shoes off when you got home at 4:30 on Friday afternoon, you grabbed a pair of Bradley’s sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt before going to the bathroom for a hot shower.
Your head had been hurting since lunch, and you were shivering.  Despite it being an 82 degree day in California with the sun shining brightly.  Maybe you were actually sick, but you were sure it was nothing a shower and nap couldn’t fix.  Bradley wasn’t supposed to be home until 6, so you figured that was plenty of time to get clean and a quick nap in.
Taking your time in the shower, you let the warm water run over your skin, soothing your muscles as you took a deep breath of the steamy air.
And promptly started to cough.
You were too busy coughing up a lung in the shower that you didn’t hear Bradley enter the apartment and make his way towards the bathroom.  Frowning, Bradley crossed his arms and leaned against the doorway.
“Y/N?  You okay?”
Jumping at the sound of your boyfriend’s voice, you tried to catch your breath, calling back a quick “yeah, I’m fine.”  You hoped that would be enough to satisfy Bradley’s concern until you got out.
Finishing showering in ten minutes, you turned off the water before reaching around the curtain for your towel where it usually hung on the bar next to the shower.  But it wasn’t there.
Pulling back the curtain, you blinked in confusion before noticing Bradley near the sink, holding open a towel for you.  A tired smiled graced your lips before you stepped out of the shower and into your boyfriends arms as he wrapped the towel around your rapidly cooling body.  The very soft and warm towel.
You let your eyelids drift shut, your exhaustion from the last week finally taking over you as Bradley held you close, gently squeezing you in the hug before he dropped a kiss to your wet hair.
“What’s going on beautiful?  You’ve been going to bed early all week, and your voice has sounded scratchy all week.  Is something going around at work?” Bradley asked, rubbing his hand firmly over your back as he held you close to his chest, not caring if his shirt got wet since he was going to change soon anyways.
“Yeah, but I’m not sick.”
He could see straight through your lie.  So, instead of just letting you continue with it, Bradley decided to call you out on it.  Tilting your chin up so you were eye to eye, he leveled you with an intense look.
“That’s bullshit and you and I both know it.  You’ve been going to bed early, and you sound like shit.  We’ve been together for over a year and we live together. Let. Me. In,” he said, reaching up to brush a tear from your cheek that you didn’t realize had fallen.
“You don’t have to do everything yourself.  I know you’re used to it, but I want to take care of you.  I know your last boyfriend complained whenever you asked him to give you the slightest bit of affection and that’s why you’re hyper independent.  But you don’t have to be like that with me.  Just let your guard down, even if its just for tonight,” Bradley said, his voice dropping to almost a whisper as he pressed a kiss to your forehead, his words finally shattering the glass wall you had carefully and meticulously built over the last few years.
You were scared, because letting someone in to care about you also left you open to get hurt.  Logically, you knew Bradley wouldn’t break your heart, but there was still that sliver of fear in the back of your mind that you knew wasn’t going away anytime soon.
Letting your tears finally fall down your cheeks, you sniffled miserably against your boyfriend’s chest.
“I might have caught something at work.  I didn’t want to bother you though, it’s probably just a cold.  Nothing for you to worry about,” you said between sniffles before shivering closer to Bradley.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s just a cold or not, I still want you to tell me if you don’t feel well.  Let’s get you dressed though and onto the couch.  Then, I’ll grab you a blanket and make you some chamomile tea.  Sound good?” Bradley asked as he rubbed your back before pulling back to finish drying you off with the towel.  Having you step into the sweatpants and hoodie, he then patted your hair dry with the towel before grabbing your brush to detangle your hair.
Once your hair was brushed, you turned to kiss Bradley’s cheek before shuffling off to the couch, curling up on your right side with an exhausted yawn, smiling as a blanket was placed over you.
Moving to get a quick shower himself, Bradley made quick work of it before emerging in a t-shirt and sweatpants, then making his way into the kitchen to make some tea.  He heated up the water in the electric kettle you insisted on using for it, even though he didn’t think it made any difference than just microwaving a mug of water.
Despite his own thoughts on it, he knew you would appreciate the extra sentiment of the kettle.  Peeking his head out to check on you, he smiled when he saw you finally asleep on the couch, one arm tucked underneath your head as you snored softly.
Bradley turned the kettle off for the time being, deciding to let you get the sleep you so clearly needed.  Leaving the empty mugs on the counter, he moved to gently pick your upper body up before sitting on the couch and placing your head in his lap before re-tucking the blanket around you to keep you warm as you napped.

It's a little known canon fact that Sonic suffers from hay fever, a.k.a. seasonal allergies. It's my headcanon that he struggles when taking pills; he's got a mental block around choking that makes swallowing something he hasn't chewed nigh impossible. So usually, he suffers through every spring, unmedicated.
One year, Tails has an idea. He crushes up some antihistamines and mixes them into the chili on a chili dog. Sonic eats the chili dog, and within an hour feels WORLDS better.
"You made me lunch and my allergies are gone," Sonic says. "You've got a magic touch."
"No, I have antihistamines I put in the chili," Tails says, and gives the box of pills a little shake. "You're welcome, though."
Sonic can't even be mad. Yeah, Tails tricked him . . . but he did so to help him be able to breathe freely again and no longer have an itchy mouth and throat. And now Sonic has a way to take medicine in the future:
The magic (science!) of hiding pills in food.
