DP x DC Prompt #48
Phantom's been a part of the Justice League for a while now. He's pretty sure he can trust them. But the one time he's away with Justice League: Dark the rest of the time decide to make the dumbest decision ever.
How does he explain how moronic it was to have the G.I.W. start working with the Justice League without insulting everyone?

@puppetmaster13u You called Danny a space whale in the tags of one of this post.
Now what if that was literal?
Hear me out, Danny outlives his friends, parents, sister. Danny becomes a literal whale.
Well, not a literal one because he's a ghost, but he takes the shape one of at the very least. He's just a giant, glowing white whale that looks pretty divine not going to lie.
Danny leaves earth. It wasn't safe for him anymore, what with the GIW and all that as even the ghosts found it not even worth anymore to visit the mortal world.
Except for Desiree and Spectra, but that's besides the point.
But Danny doesn't retreat to the zone, he's always longed for space, but because of his new half humanness he doesn't get believe he could've ever gone because, well. Yea.
But Danny goes fuck it and goes anyway. His form shifts from human to that of a giant whale, and he swims out into the vastness of space.
Years pass, and Danny does start getting bigger as he aged. He explored the vastness of space, marveling at many things, the different planets, the stars, the formations of rock and other things.
Then he encounters someone he never though he would've.
Vlad.
Well, he knew Vlad was left behind in space by his father but he didn't think he would find him again and Vlad seemed... different, from what he remembered.
For one thing, he didn't even know where Vlad began and space ended. He got only see those red eyes that even hinted at it being the man. His body was void black and filled with stars upon stars, all glittering from his body and Vlad barely even seemed to notice him, or if he did, he didn't seem to care at all.
So, Danny took him.
He was both curious and felt a bit bad about what happened to Vlad, even if he didn't know exactly what happened, and he couldn't just leave him there either.
So on his back Vlad went, and his travels continued.
It seemed to be the correct decision, really, because slowly overtime Vlad seemed to be regaining his awareness. Then slowly, tentatively, started to speak with him through ghost speak.
Vlad only seemed to vaguely remember what he was before space. He remembered hating a man, loving a woman, wanting a son, loneliness and a boy with white hair and toxic green eyes.
Even though Vlad was his former enemy, his nemesis, and someone who took the world hostage.
He couldn't help but feel pity for him.
Then their travels continued.
Years pass unnoticed, when in space, with Danny slowly getting bigger and bigger as the two travel throughout. They've come into contact with various civilizations, some hostile, some peaceful, some neutral.
The hostile ones never lasted long, even if Danny never lifted a flipper to do anything most of the time, Vlad made sure of it.
They came at went as they pleased, and Danny believes that they've gained a bit of a reputations over their adventures, but neither he nor Vlad knew exactly what they said. It did prove useful in some cases, however.
A few more years, and Danny feels that this system is vaguely familiar. Which happens sometimes, considering he's been travelling for so long. He then finds out why it was so familiar.
He came across Earth and, oh. When was the Earth so small?
Well, not small really, but when was he just only a bit smaller than it?
Did it shrink when he was away? Or did he just grow?
That doesn't matter though. What does, is the fact that currently seemed to be an invasion going on, on his home planet thank you very much. He did not like the fact that there was a massive fleet parked right outside his home.
So he spoke to Vlad, expressed his displeasure, Vlad responded back knowingly and went off to make the source of his displeasure disappear. That doesn't Danny was idle either, the fleet was big and, well.
It's been a while since he's stretched himself in a fight.

Danny Punches a Clown Part 6
Masterpost
Danny, after many promises and assurances, lets Red Robin take him to the batcave. They travel by car, and as fancy as it was, Danny was almost scared to touch anything inside it. Red was a much better driver than his father though, so he just closed his eyes and focused on trying to keep his healing up.
The Batcave turned out to be an actual cave, underground, with actual bats in it. He was whisked to a medical area too quickly to see much of anything else besides some other vehicles and a giant computer set up.
Someone was waiting in the medical space with a tray of tools and bandages ready next to the bed, Red introduced him as Agent A. They were quick to lie him down on a cot and set him up to a heart monitor and that had Red and the A frowning immediately.
“It’s a medical condition.” Danny blurted, and both pairs of eyes shot to him. “My heartrate is naturally very slow, temperature runs cold, pale skin, slow circulation so I can't have a lot of different medications." Not that any medications would really work, but better safe than sorry. Them not working would be suspicious, and Danny does not have the energy or focus for trying to keep straight any real explanations right now.  "It’s fine, I promise.”
Agent A nodded slowly. “Is there anything else we should know before we start treatment?”
“Just can't give me any medicines, I think that's the only relevant bit.”
“Alright, I will keep that in mind. Please lift your shirt so I can see the wound.”
Danny does, and they manage their expressions quite well on seeing it. Agent A goes immediately for creams and bandages.
“What burned you like that?” Red asked.
“Gun.” Danny was starting to slur. He did not want to sleep right now, with these people here.
“A gun? What kind of gun causes burns?”
“New blaster, parents made it special.”
“Your parents make guns?”
Danny shrugs, turning his head to look at Red instead of the far off ceiling of the cave. “My parents make lots of things. They're scientists, inventors." Danny waves his arm around vaguely. "The gun was new though, hadn’t been shot with that one before. The earlier versions were much less powerful.”
“Are you saying that your parents are the ones that shot you?” Red asked gently, taking a seat in the chair next to the bed. “It wasn’t just their gun that was used?”
Danny frowns. “Well yeah.”
Tim is very concerned at the tone he just used, like getting shot at by your parents was normal. “Do they shoot at you a lot?”
“Fair amount I suppose.” Red could see Danny thinking really hard about something. Dany’s head was really starting to hurt. His brain was fuzzy and he knew he should be concerned about something, but couldn’t figure out what. His parents shooting at him was nothing new, considering. “Like, they did it more than Vlad but I don’t see him as often, and they’ve done it longer than the GIW, but since the GIW has started they’ve been about equal I guess. I mean, sometimes all the defense systems in the house target me but that wasn’t technically intentional. Took forever for us to figure out how to get them to stop that.”
“Danny, when was the last time you slept?” Red asked gently.
Danny wasn’t sure if his blip earlier this morning counted. He didn’t think it lasted more than an hour, but the last time he slept before that was before his fight in Amity, escaping through the ghost zone and running around in this dimension.
“It’s been awhile.” Danny landed on. True enough for medical history he supposed.
“Right.” A finished the last of the bandages and tugged Danny’s shirt back down. “Well, why don’t you do that now, while we go and find you something to eat.”
“I’m too tired to fight food right now.”
Tim shared a look with Alfred before turning back to Danny. “Okay then. Maybe sleep first and then eat?”
“I will go start making something now that you’re all set up here Mister Danny.” Agent A states, walking past the medical curtains and shutting them behind him. Red pulled out a tablet and started tapping on it. He noticed Danny’s eyes on him after a moment.
“You going to sleep?”
“Strange place, strange people. Not sure that’s the best decision here.”
Red looked up from his tablet.
“You trusted me enough to come here. Trust me enough to sleep. I will make sure no one but me or A comes in before you’re ready.”

Dp x DC AU: Danny didn't want to rely on his rogues, but Tucker's computer skills only got them so far and if the media black out continues... Danny knows it's not going to be pretty for them. Nightmares begin to plague the Justice League.
---
Danny gets back from a shitty conversation with Clockwork and in his frustration, accidentally sets off one of the new GIW sensors that his parents allowed to be installed in the lab. Their collaboration seemed to be going no where but when Danny had new holes blasted through him... it must be going somewhere. Damn it.
The commotion is loud enough that Jazz hears it from her room above the lab (he knows she listens to more than just the lab... it's cause she cares, even if it is a bit invasive.) and rushes in to play the distraction while Danny gets away. This time it works- the Drs. Fenton might have the worst aim in the city but they demand all shots cease if a civilian is nearby- Next time his mom might be aiming her gun at him and not the ground. Danny decides he'll buy Jazz a coffee on his way home.
But first, new holes. Yikes. That like, needs medical attention- He heads to Tucker's place and he's pretty sure Sam is already there.
"Danny! What the fuck, did Clockwork-" She starts, her meticulous cat eyeliner making her glare all the deeper.
"Nah, it's the stupid GIW sensor, the stupid one I told you guys about that has a spring lose in the back?"
"I thought we decided those weren't a concern?" Tucker looks him over, face covered in undisguised and very blatant concern.
"Yeah well, Clocky pissed me off so I forgot about them when I came back in through the lab portal-"
"you were supposed to be practicing making your own." Sam interrupts.
"-And when I did, the thing got knocked and I was swatted like immediately. Jazz launched herself into the lab so Mom made them stop shooting and it gave me enough time to get out." Danny continued to explain, ignoring his friend's 'i told you so' faces.
"Dude. We're pushing it close this week. Sam already had a confrontation with the lab guys and I already got blacklisted on my new persona accounts. We're like seriously threading the needle for getting caught." Tucker, pulls his glasses down to pinch the bridge of his nose and Danny and Sam both get what he's really saying. They need to lie low.
"What did CW say to piss you off?" Sam asks after a silent moment.
"He said nothing really, just like he always does, but insinuated I should try getting a rogue to help." Danny sighs.
"What, Like getting Ember to announce the GIW invasion on her tour? We already agreed that-" Sam is getting angry as she speaks so Tuck cuts her off- "It's a bad Idea. She is- They are all just as likely to get captured and hurt as you are if you go out of town." He comes to the same conclusion they've agreed on for weeks. No rogue involvement.
"Maybe we just need to sleep on it... Hey... wait." Danny sighs, but then his gears start to turn.
"Nocturn. We need Nocturn to help us. He can get the message out through dreams." Danny comes to the new conclusion and his friends look hesitant but at least like they're considering it.
"Isn't he an ancient? He's not going to help us for free." Tucker, ever the Egyptian god in these moments.
"Most people don't take their dreams literally." Sam, ever the skeptic in these moments.
"Yeah but, if they dream it enough times, and they're the right people to do something... they can look it up and then at least see that there is a problem?" Danny sounds hopeful and its the first time he's sounded that way in months.
"What, you're gunna give Batman nightmares?" Tucker snickers but Sam looks inspired.
"That's exactly what he's going to do. We need to haunt the Justice League. They'll see past the fake facade the GIW put up online and they'll be able to get the right legislation passed." Sam is practically buzzing.
"Okay, so lets get scheming- What do you get the primordial beast of the unconscious? Should I google 'what to get someone who has everything'? " Danny laughs.
_____
Bruce and his children rarely do feelings when they have breakfast in the morning after a night of separate patrols, but it seems as though the room is plagued with unease. Tim looks about as tired as ever, so his unease is probably attributable to WE board meetings, but its unlike the rest of his children to be so... disturbed. For some reason, after Alfred has excused them all from eating more than a few nibbles, they make it to the cave. Bruce is glad for the noise his children bring.
The nightmare's he's been having are following a dark plot. A town, a boy who looks like he was kin, and so, so much death. Bruce has had vivid dreams before in life, but this nightmare is... unreal. He tries to remind himself that it's just a nightmare.
When his JL emergency communicator goes off at the computer desk, he's not expecting it to be Dinah Lance. She and her Birds are typically wary of him in Gotham, even if they work well together in the League. He answers it like he would any Batman call, with silence.
"Bats, we have a problem. Any chance you've been having weird dreams about a kid getting experimented on or a town being burned down? Ghosts? Lazarus portals?" Dinah sounds exhausted, but Bruce snaps to her voice with rapt attention. As do all of his children.
"I-" Bruce takes a look around the room, everyone's heads except for Tim's nodding up and down with distress," We all have."
"Something tells me that they whole JL is. Everyone I've talked to this week has had a variation of the same dream. We either have a telepath trying to tell us something, or something even worse than that."
"I'll call emergency meeting, we need to collect details and try to determine the complete message."
"I'll send you what I've noted down so far, sans personal details of course, it's definitely in a town called Amity Park though. My client this morning saw the sign."
Batman grunts and the call ends. It's time to get to work.
----
When the Justice League finally arrives, the town is glowing, and everything feels like... sleep. smothering. snoring. smoking. smoldering.
And then, despite the exhaustion that echos within them, the trudge onwards. The noise of laser guns certainly wakes them up a bit.

So! Giving my reblogs to this amazing art by @providencehq their own post so I can keep adding on to this fic at my own leisure.
Please don't ask to be tagged. I'm relegated to mobile and simply cannot keep up with a taglist. All additions will be going in the reblogs on this post, though. So feel free to come back here periodically to see if I've added more.
I'm currently up to 3 chunks with 1 more in planning.
So, without further ado:
Caught and Content
Daniel James Fenton had died at 14.
And every day since then he has counted as a blessing. Especially the good ones, but even the bad ones. The terrible ones. The days so horrid that Danny wouldn’t wish them on the worst beings in the universe. Danny treasured them still. Because every breath, every too slow heart beat, even the ones that pulsed with terror and exhaustion and agony, every one was a miracle. A moment of life that Daniel James Fenton wasn’t meant to have any more.
Borrowed time.
That’s what it was.
Danny had been living on borrowed time since he was 14. And he had long since made peace with the fact that his borrowed time would some day run out.
He’s 20 now. 6 whole years he wasn’t meant to live but did anyway.
A few more months and Danny would be 21, old enough to buy his first alcoholic drink. But even if he lived that long now, he wouldn’t get the chance. The GIW would ensure that. Tuck had celebrated his 21st a couple months ago, and Sam a few months before him. Danny would never get to celebrate his with them.
But that was okay. As said, Danny had long since made peace with the uncertain nature of his borrowed time. He didn’t need to go out to a bar with his friends and celebrate that he had survived 21 whole years. It would have been a lie anyway.
Daniel James Fenton had died when he was 14.
He was in the Watchtower now. Power suppression cuffs and collar making his already battered body feel even more weak and achy. Batman was staring at him. Superman and Wonder Woman seemed to be telling him things. Or asking. Interrogating. Danny paid them no mind. No answer he’d given them before seemed to satisfy. And he already knew what would come next.
These were government sanctioned heros. They were bound to the law. And the law said Danny must be turned over to the GIW. And since Danny had already escaped them and his parents once, he doubted they’d be keen to lock him up again. Research be damned, Phantom was too dangerous to be left alive. Or whatever facsimile of alive Danny existed in right now. Daniel James Fenton had died when he was 14.
So Danny ignored the government sanctioned superheros. He didn’t let his mind wander to tomorrows he’d never have. He had made peace with his death. So now he took every moment left of his breathing beating blessing to turn his gaze out the large Watchtower window.
Nothing else mattered as Danny beheld, breathed in, drowned in the last he’d ever see of the infinite beauty of the cosmos. He let himself relax, smile, and relish in the miracle of being here, of being allowed to see it one last time. And up so close, too.
And when the heros grew tired of Danny’s distraction. When they led him to a new room without any windows to peer out of. Danny stayed relaxed. Stayed smiling. He closed his eyes and waited for his borrowed time to run out. Even as Batman stared and Superman and Wonder Woman interrogated and the power suppression devices drained him of excess energy and he’s pretty sure the GIW were on their way to arrange his execution; he was contented.
Danny was not afraid. He was happy. At peace. Why would he be scared? After all, Daniel James Fenton had died at 14. Every moment since has been a blessing he has been grateful to have.
Because
Daniel James Fenton had died at 14.

Trust
part 9 of DLM ao3
After the stew was done and Danny got out of the shower they all sat down to eat. They ate in silence for a while neither one of the bats wanting to push Danny into feeling uncomfortable, but Jason had a question he wanted to ask. He probably should have asked earlier, but he’ll blame it on the shock for not thinking of it sooner.
“Hey, Danny?”
“Yeah?” Danny said, setting his spoon down.
“How did you know it was me?”
Danny tilted his head and squinted, “What do you mean?”
Jason gestured with his spoon, off to the side Dick was watching them, his gaze analytical. “I mean, how did you know the guy in a red helmet was me?”
“Oh.” Danny settled and picked up his spoon again, through a mouthful of soup he answered, “It wuz th’ same ectoplasmic signature.”
Jason stared. He glanced at Dick, but he also looked confused.
Across from them Danny paused and glanced between them warily. He stared at Dick for a moment before turning to Jason. “Like I mentioned before, we’ve both been… death touched. And when someone’s been death touched a bit of ectoplasm gets incorporated into their system, the amount of ectoplasm varies depending on the situation. But when ectoplasm binds with a person it develops its own unique chemical signature. You can think of it like DNA. Ghosts and some machines can sense the differences, so when I came across Red Hood, I could sense that it was you.”
“Huh.” Jason said unable to come up with anything else in the face of discovering that he gave of what probably amounted to his own unique radioactive signal.
“And you said some machines can track this?” Dick asked. Jason was thankful that his brother was here because he wasn’t sure if he was up for asking all the necessary questions.
Danny looked hesitant again and looked at jason.
Jason nodded at him and Danny looked a little reassured.
“Yeah. There are a few. That’s how the GIW are tracking me. I don’t think they were around Jason enough to latch onto his ecto-signature so you shouldn’t need to be worried about them tracking you down. Gotham has plenty of low level ghosts so their scanners should be pretty muddled. But that’s also why I should go. My signature is stronger than the shades of Gotham and They know how to track it. I don’t want to give you any more trouble.”  Daanny wasn't looking at either of them, instead he was completely focused on stirring his stew.
Jason and Dick glanced at each other.
“Hey, Danny, look at me.” Jason said.
It took a bit, but eventually Danny looked up.”
Jason smiled slightly, “I told you I’d protect you, didn’t I?”
Danny looked away, biting his lip. “I don’t want to put you in danger.”
Jason reached across the table and placed his hand over one of Danny’s. “I’m Red Hood, kid, I can defend myself. And there are plenty of bats in Gotham who would love to help.”
“The GIW are different. They don’t care who they have to hurt to get what they want. They’ll just keep bringing in more agents until they get me.”
“Well then we’ll bring in the Justice League.” Jason said, Bruce would be okay with it if Jason told him it was to protect a kid.
“I don’t want you to get caught in the crossfire. I won’t let you get hurt.” Danny said, shaking his head.
Jason glanced over at his brother. Dick was always better with the emotional talk.
“We’re vigilantes Danny. We’ve been trained in defending ourselves and others.” Dick said.
“And they wouldn’t be able to take us down without causing people to go after them for attacking vigilantes.” Jason added.
Danny shook his head harder, he was staring at the table, his eyes slightly glossy. “They won’t care, they'll lie and say you were defending dangerous creatures, that you were being manipulated by evil ghosts.” Danny laughed bitterly. “Or they’ll claim you’re also contaminated and capture or exterminate you. They’ll do anything to get what they want.”
There was more to this, Jason knew. Something bad had happened to the kid, apart from the obvious scar, but now wasn’t the time to push for information. Right now, they needed to convince Danny to stay with them, to let them protect him.
Jason got up, walked around the table and crouched by Danny’s chair. “Kid, look at me.” Jason said gently. He waited till Danny did before continuing. “I know you’re scared,” Danny opened his mouth and Jason continued before he could argue, “and I know you’re worried about us getting hurt. But this is what we do. We fight to protect people. And there are a lot of powerful people on our side. And I’m sorry we haven’t been there for you before, I’m sorry we didn’t get to you in time in the past, but we’re here now. Together we can take down the GIW. Let us help you.”
Danny’s eyes started watering, and Jason reached up to give his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
Then Jason was falling back as the kid launched himself at him. Jason held Danny as he started to sob. “I’ve got you, kid. I’ve got you.”
“Thank you.” Danny whispered as he cried. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Lucifer damn! I have gone down a rabbit hole of DP x DC Au's, and no. I'm not mad about this! (OK, that's a tiny lie. I have three docs of TFP fandom that I need to finish) But anyway, I've had this idea, and yes, imma type it out since I have nothin' better to do anyway.
Also, this was loosely inspired by this amazin' writer Space-Dreams-World
And this is the thin' that inspired my dumbass to write Here!
Oh, and before I forget, I don't precisely remember how the comics go, so I'll probably just pull stuff outta my ass and call it a day (But hey, that's what Au's are for), but if it bothers you sorry, there's waaaay too much Batman lore and don't get me started on the Re-boots!
(I hope I didn't butcher your original idea too much, but I did say your writings loosely inspired this!)
___________
Danny, after comin' out to his parents that he's Phantom, didn't go too hot, but hey! he has multiple plans! He just didn't want to use this one...After all, who wants to live in a new dimension? He's also glad that he waited until he turned twenty-one so that he could actually leave.
Thanks to Sam siphonin' money outta her parent's money for him for years and Tucker makin' a new identity for him, a bonus is that if he went to a different dimension, it still worked!
In the end, it's better than bein' on a table in the GIW labs after his Mom turned him to said government, But it's actually not that bad. He met a cool guy named Thomas Wayne, who is really chill (Also not bad-lookin). He's been In this world for probably three years now.
He met Thomas a couple of months after he dropped into this world and set up his new name, Daniel (Danny) Nightingale. He even met his wife, Martha Wayne, And he moved into their place two years ago after he had a break-in. And it's been goin' great at this point. He's probably bein' healed hostage by both Waynes and Alfred. He's cool with it, tho!
They were even cool with him bein' a half-ghost and the King of the infinite realms, and why they found out? It was Skulker's fault. I mean, come on, who comes in at dinner and claims that he wants your pelt on his wall...Oh, wait! Skullker did. Yeah, it wasn't fun explainin' that it's just how he greets Danny after all these years and that he just wanted to have a friendly spar.
Then, one day, the Waynes learned somethin' that broke Danny's heart. Martha and Thomas were havin' a hard time gettin' pregnant they later learned that it was because Thomas was infertile.
One day, Both Martha and Thomas asked him a favor. They asked if he would be okay with helpin' them get pregnant. He's not gonna lie. It was a shocker, but he understands that he does look like Thomas a bit, and people have even called them brothers.
It also helped him out when he told them that he didn't mind helpin' them out, and since they were on the topic, he said to them that he had a little crush on both of them. They both blushed red as a tomato and told him they felt the same. They didn't really understand how it worked.
Yes, he did explain that more than one person could be in a relationship that it was called Polyamory and that he has experience with it. He dated a girl and a guy simultaneously before leaving his universe, and it worked out in the end. He started to date both of the Waynes, and Martha got pregnant with a baby boy!
All three of them were over the moon with that news, and after baby Bruce was born, both Thomas and Martha decided that he was a Wayne now, so officially, he's now Danny Nightingale-Wayne, but to outsiders, he's still just Nightingale.
Even then, the only person who knows is Alfred. When Bruce was learnin' to talk and ended up callin' him Da, he told them he was fine just bein' Bruce's Godfather or uncle. That didn't go well, so Danny is Pa, and Thomas is Dad.
Bruce didn't understand why he couldn't call Danny Pa out in public or around friends until Danny sat him down and explained that it was a secret that he was his Pa and to the world, he was just his Godfather and if anyone knew that he's was his Pa it could be bad for the family.
After the talk, Danny somewhat made a game out of it that Bruce was a super secret spy and that it was his job to protect the family (I haven't really thought of this, but I thought it would be cute) And Bruce did keep it a secret until his Mom and Dad where killed.
Danny was supposed to go with them to the movies until the Observants demanded that he return to the infinite realms for a council meetin'. While Danny was tryin' not to freeze every observant in the room for bein' straight up annoyin', he heard Bruce scream for his Mom and Dad. He then listened to his pained hiccups for his Pa to come and help them.
Danny froze. The room he was in got much colder as his core demanded him to protect his son, and he was also cryin' for his lover's death. Ice shards spread out in the room, makin' the occupants yell out in shock at what their King had done. Danny then stood up, and with a protective/pained growl, he tore open a portal and went to his son, leavin' the room in chaos.
He couldn't stop the pained whimpers from his mouth when he got there. His son, his little Galaxy, was cryin' over his parent's bodies. Danny's brightest Nebulas, his lifeline after he left his old home, was dead. Without a second thought, Danny de-transformed and quickly grabbed Bruce and held him close.
Bruce quickly grabbed onto his Pa and bawled his eyes out, sayin' how he was sorry that he couldn't save them, how he tried to protect them, how his shield failed, and that he couldn't heal them as Danny taught him.
(I think Bruce, while not bein' as ghostly as Danny, still could do more than the average liminal could. He would have a small ghost core. So he could technically make shields, and I like to think that Danny learned how to push his rapid healin' onto others and started to teach Bruce when he started to show signs of bein' a bit ghostly)
Danny shushed him and told him that he tried his best and that was all that mattered while havin' tears drip down his face. That was how the police found the two Danny sittin' on his knees while huggin' the cryin' Bruce into his chest, tryin' to hide the poor boy from the world.
Most people did accuse Danny of killin' the two until Bruce screamed at them, sayin' that his Godfather loved his parents and that he would rather hurt himself than harm his parents. Alfred also spoke up, sayin' that Danny has never tried to harm the Waynes and even pushed them out of the way if anythin' harmful ever came close to the family.
They dropped the accusation a week later after the police did indeed find out that Danny was nowhere near the scene of the crime, that he was at the airport gettin' back from somewhere, and that the only reason why Danny found them was because Thomas sent him an SOS and their location. (He's grateful that Tucker taught him how to hack)
After everythin' calmed down and Danny had full custody of Bruce, he spent most of his time in the manor with Bruce and Alfred, only goin' to the realms if he absolutely had to, and he started to teach Bruce more about his ghostly side per Bruce's request.
Bruce took more to the sneaky part of the ghost side. Danny also suspected that Bruce might have a shadow core or somethin' related to darkness. Bruce did have fun. He Bruce would try and sneak up on his Pa and Alfred. Danny suspected Alfred knew when Bruce was around and tryin' to get a drop on him. It wouldn't surprise Danny if it were true.
Everythin' was as normal as could be...Until Bruce went missin', Danny almost destroyed the manor with ice. Alfred did manage to calm him down after a while. Danny was heartbroken that he couldn't find anythin' for him or Alfred, but he could tell that Bruce was fine.
About a week after Bruce disappeared, he had no choice but to go back to the infinite realms for short to long periods of time as the Obervents demanded since his son disappeared and since Danny knew that he was safe somewhere in the dimension.
Yeah, he wasn't really pleased with that demand, but then again, messin' with those floatin' eyeballs bastards is good, but messin' with them durin' a meetin'? Even better, and hey, at least he got his frustration out.
At this point, it was probably a good couple of years since Bruce disappeared, and he did have a lot of fun pissin' off the Observents durin' one of the Obervent's "informative" meetings when he felt a pull on his core. Oh? A summon? It's been ages since the last.
When he let himself get pulled toward his "summoner" (and probably pissin' off the eyeball bastards even more), he found himself in a room with a summonin' circle under him, one that he noted didn't bind him just summoned him. He looked around the room and noticed that it had windows that showed space.
Before he would let himself delve into one of his obsessions, he looked down and almost groaned out when he saw a blond man with a trench coat. Great...John Constantine, the man who sold his soul to every damn thin' in the infinite realms, has summoned him? Mann, he already has 75% of his soul.
Just as he was about to open his mouth to say somethin' whitty towards the man, he felt somethin'. He felt his core try and pull him towards somethin'. Danny moved his eyes from the blondie and saw somethin' black move more into the shadows.
Danny narrowed his eyes. That action was so familiar to Danny. He then raised his hand and snapped his finger, lightin' up the room he was in with green flames. He heard some alarmed shouts and a curse from the blondie, but he paid no attention to them. His eyes were on the man in the black cowl.
The man noticeably stiffened, and a sheepish smile spread on his face. What? It couldn't be. Danny floated down to the ground and walked over to the man. He could tell that the man was fidgetin' more the closer he got to him until Danny stood before him. The man was a bit shorter than him, but then again, he was 8 feet tall in this form and 7 feet in his human one.
He could feel the emotions comin' off of him: anxiety, family, and happiness. Danny felt his eyes whidden and a lump in his throat form it was! He felt water buildin' up in the corners of his eyes. He then spoke out two words he thought he might never hear again.
"Little Galaxy?" he crocked out. The man stiffened for a second, then relaxed. "Yeah, it's me, Pa," Bruse said with a smile, his voice crackin' a little. Oh, ancients! His son! he found his son, his little Galaxy.
Danny fell to his knees, grabbed Bruce, and hugged him just like he would when Bruce was younger. Bruce quickly wrapped his arms around Danny and curled into his chest.
"Oh, my little Galaxy! Where have you been!? And why in the realms would you just disappear like that! You gave me and Mister A a heart attack!" Danny scolded.
He could feel the guilt off of Bruce in waves. "I'm sorry, Pa, I just-" Danny sighed when Bruce couldn't finish his sentence. Danny understood he wanted to get revenge for his Mom and Dad. He truly understood. After all, he tried to find the person but never could finish findin' them before the council called on him.
Danny was about to speak before a throat clearin' got his attention. He looked over to the sound and saw a woman. By the looks of it, she was an Amazonian, and right next to her was a man with an S on his chest, a Kryptonian? They looked calm, but he could see the subtle way they held themselves. They were goin' to attack if they saw him as a threat.
Danny smiled. It seemed that Bruce got himself some good friends...? that's not the correct term, so he looked a bit closer at the two. He then promptly lost his shit. His laugh startled everyone. When he finally calmed down, he turned to his son, wiggled his eyebrows, and tilted his head towards the two somewhat behind him.
Bruce coughed into his fist, and Danny would bet that he was blushing from the tip of his ears down to his neck. Subtley nodded his head. Danny snorted, then stood up and brought Bruce to his side. Yeah, he's not lettin' his son go any time soon, thank you very much! "Ahem, please forgive my rudeness." Danny tilted his head down a bit towards the two.
Blondie decided to speak up. "What in the blood hell?" Danny snorted at the man. "Ah, again, forgive. I haven't seen this kid in a while," he said to the room.
Bruce coughed into his hand. Everyone turned their heads towards him, "Justice League, If I may, this is Phantom or, as I like to call him, Pa." Danny tried not to laugh. Bruce seemed a little troublemaker even though he was all grown up.
Everyone in the room froze until the Kryptonian spoke up. "Batman, what the hell? I thought that...." he questioned, then trailed off at the end. Danny snorted Batman? Oh, he's totally bringin' that up soon, but first...
Danny put a hand to his core and fanned hurt. "Oh, the pain! My son never told his friends about me? I'm betrayed!" he floated onto his back, playin' hurt.
The woman snorted into her hand, and Bruce groaned quietly. "Oh, this makes so much sense now," Constantine muttered. While still on his back, Danny raised an eyebrow and then looked toward Bruce. The Man subtly tilted his head to show that he also had no clue what the man in the trench coat meant.
"What is the supposed to mean, Constantine?" the Amazonian woman spoke to the man.
Blondie just sighed and took a flask out of his pocket and took a large gulp, then spoke, "I thought that you could tell Bats has more... Supernatural tendencies, so it makes sense if Bats grew up around the King of ghosts." he told the League "I'm just more curious how he met him" Constantine sighed.
"How he/I met him/me? We met when I/he was born!" Danny and Bruse spoke at once.
Constantine spat his drink out. "Wait, what!?... Y'know what, never mind, So KIng Phantom knew Bat's parents then when he was born became a liminal, " Constantine muttered. Danny then righted himself and wrapped his arm around Bruce once more.
"Actually, you're wrong, Galxay here is part ghost!" Danny informed the League with a Smile, Showin' too much inhuman teeth. After some silence, the woman spoke up. "If I may, what does that mean, your Highness?" she spoke calmly.
"Ah, please just call me Phantom! It also means that Galaxy is 3/4 Part ghost? Maybe a bit more? He does feel a bit different than the last time I saw him, but then again, his core was still growin'," he said, trailin’ off at the end.
Constantine threw his hands up in the air and then froze. He slowly looked at the two. "Wait...Bats, does that mean that Phantom is your Birth father?" Constantine asked with his hands twitchin' like they wanted to grab somethin'.
Every head turned towards Batman and Danny, and the two looked at each other and then at the Leauge, "Yes," they spoke as one. "HOW!?" most of the League shouted. Danny shrugged. "Eh, this was before I dated' both his parents. We learned his other Dad was infertile, and that was sort of the openin' that we needed to explain that we three liked each other. Ultimately, it worked out fine, so a win is a win!".
The League turned their heads to Batman and said the man nodded yes, that what came out of the ghost King's mouth was true.
That day, the Justice League was out of order and needed a proper reboot, and yes, Danny did indeed have the time of his un-dead life. Afterward, he even got to meet his son's lovers.
While the four were together, Danny brought up that poly and vigilantism must run in the family or somethin' so off-handedly that it had Clark and Diana laughin'. Bruce just grumbled at his Pa.
After that shit show of a reunion, Bruce took Danny back to the manor. He caught up with Alfred, and they made a plan that would remind Bruce that if he ever disappeared again and scared the shit out of them again, he was goin' to regret it. Bruce havin' no clue as to what they were talkin' about and frankly didn't want to know promised himself never to piss off his two parents again.
(Bruce still sees Alfred as a father figure. Danny did an excellent job bein' home every day, but sometimes the Observents won in their crusade.
They demanded that Danny be present in their meetings at least once a week, and of course, they could and would go on for days about their topic, even if it was a stupid one, just to keep him there.
And if some of them got put on ice just by suggestin' that he left his son to the mortals to be raised, it was no one's business but Danny's.)
__________
Okay, so this was supposed to be a bit longer, and it would have Danny meetin' Dick and then later Jason, but I decided to split it in half-ish, and if the people want to see the rest of my crappy writin', then I might share it.
I also mainly wanted to get this out and see how it went cause I am very happy with how most of this turned out. I am also runnin' out of motivation so~ but hey, I hoped you liked it!
Part 2 to this shit show!

Conner isn't a clone of Luther and Superman, but Danny phantom and Superman.
Phantom looked at the monitor in the med bay dumbstruck. Several other leaguers were in the same situation. How could this have happened? WHEN did it happen? Sure during the early years of crime fighting, Danny hadn’t been the best at keeping his blood in his body but he had grown by leaps and bounds since then. With GIW and his parents trying to figure out how to take him out, it had become instinctual to make sure that he didn’t leave much of a trace wherever he went. Yet, somehow it had been leaked.
And to Lex Luthor no less.
“I don’t understand. Phantom wasn’t even a part of the league when the Cadmus project was in operation. So how could this be?!” Flash stated as his eyes scanned the results over and over but they remained the same.
“I’m… I’m just as confused as you are.” Danny admitted still feeling overwhelmed by this new information. When Cadmus was in operation he had finally appointed as the King of the Infinite Realms at the age of 21. He didn’t join the Justice League until a little over a year later when some idiotic cultists had thought it was a good idea to try and merge the death realm with the living. Now, going into his second year with the League, Danny was finding out he had been cloned.
Again.
Batman grunted as he leaned back in his chair. “The results don’t lie. I’ve run them about ten times and it has all come up the same. The records on Cadmus had stated that Superman and Lex Luthor were the donors in creating Connor. However, Phantom’s DNA is a perfect match.”
The halfa looked to the teenager who was lying on a bed in the other room unconscious. While out on a mission, Superboy had taken several nasty hits and was severely injured. He had needed a blood transfusion and the poor kid had a horrible reaction when Manhunter tried to use an IV of Luthor’s blood which was supposed to have been a match. (Superman donated his blood as needed. It's not that he didn’t want to help but it was really hard for him to give blood with his body the way it was. Most needles just bent out of shape when they tried to pierce the skin.) It was touch and go but it appeared that Danny’s was a perfect match in more ways than one. Phantom pulled out his cell phone and started texting Jazz. She was not going to believe this.
“Phantom, what are you doing?” Batman asked when he saw him pull the device out.
“Texting my sister.”
Flash, finally, peeled his eyes away from the monitor. “Why?”
“Because, apparently, I have a long lost son who I didn’t even know about and she is going to flip that Superboy is her nephew,” Danny responded with a smirk. He wished he could have delivered the news in person. Oh! He also needed to get a hold of his other sister. Dani was going to be so excited to learn that she was no longer the only clone in the family.
Thoughts were swirling inside of his head. Conner currently lived at the base of the Young Justice team. Mainly because he didn’t have anywhere to go. Would the boy mind if he took him home with him? His castle in the Ghost Zone was massive and a lot of the rooms were unoccupied. Conner could pick as many of the rooms as he wanted for all he cared. So long as he was happy. Danny’s apartment was a lot smaller but he could probably upgrade so that Conner could have his own space. Money wasn’t really an issue anymore. It would probably do wonders for the teen’s mindset if he had a proper home to come back to instead of the reminder that the one person who was supposed to care about him didn’t.
“You are taking this awfully well,” Batman said as a statement but Danny could feel the questioning gaze of the bat when he put his phone away. “I would have thought you would be mad.”
“Oh, I’m livid all right.” Phantom replied and what he said was true. “I just found out today that I have a son because the boy was put into the hospital due to the severity of his injuries and he had existed for at least two years in this world without my knowledge. Two years that were filled with an unprecedented amount of physical, emotional, and mental trauma as he tries to figure himself out and separate his identity from the man who is supposed to be his other father and mentor. Only for that man to have treated him as an abomination for existing in the first place.” The room temperature dropped to the point that the breath of the other Leaguers showed. “To be honest, I had already low-key adopted him because of that fact but now that I know I’m related there are going to be some changes.”
Flash and Batman exchanged a look seeing the green eyes of the ghost king flare for a few moments before settling into a soft pulse. Both were thankful that Superman was off-world, at the moment. Clark would have probably said something that would have set the man off if he had been there for the startling revelation. Superman cared about Conner. He did but he was having a hard time overlooking the fact that he was cloned without his consent. So Conner’s life was basically denied by the one person he wanted to be acknowledged the most.
Superman would have to be told before he came back so that he would be prepared for when Phantom was going to come at him. Hopefully, enough time will have passed so that Phantom will have calmed down and had a chance to figure out what he wanted to say. Regardless, it wasn’t going to be a fun conversation. For now, Batman nodded to the halfa and turned back to the monitor. “Why don’t you go check on Conner? He should be waking up soon and this news might be what he needs to hear.”
“Maybe he won’t see himself as a villain anymore because he shared DNA with one.” Danny nodded and flew into the teen’s room trying to think of a good way to tell him. How was he going to react? What was he going to say? Would he accept Danny as a father? It didn’t have to be a father role right away, maybe even a cousin or brother. Whatever the boy felt most comfortable with. After all, it didn’t matter what Conner picked in the end because he was family.
And he would never be fighting through things alone again.

Bad Reveal AU Chapter 2 Part 2
As promised! Here's the compilation of every snippet I've written for the 1000 follower ask game. I added an additional 300 words to the end to round out the scene.
Story Summary: Danny loves the Waynes, loves living with them. After the GIW, after his parents, he never thought he'd be able to have this again. A family, a home.
Then he overhears a conversation.
The Waynes aren't just the Waynes. They're the Bats, part of the Justice League. And the Justice League works with the US Government. The same government that runs the Ghost Investigation Ward.
It was all a lie.

Three days later and they were all ready to tear their hair out. Barbara had found nothing new on the Fenton parents, even after Tim and Bruce joined her in the search. Apparently everything about the Fentons had been hidden behind the best digital security they had ever seen. Everything except the basics. And the firewalls were so good that they were almost invisible which is why no one had noticed them before.
Danny’s room lacked any sort of clue. They opened every drawer and went through everything they could find, only for nothing even slightly unusual to turn up. Definitely nothing like the bizarre energy weapon he’d used.
Jason had asked around as Red Hood to see if he could find any leads on the weapon. But every rumor lead to a dead end.
They could find nothing that might lead them to the people who wanted to hurt Danny. And Danny never came home.
Dick was currently in Danny’s room, again, trying to find anything. He was under the bed searching for hidden compartments in the frame or box spring when sharp footsteps sounded in the hall. A moment later, Alfred cleared his throat from the doorway.
“Master Dick! I believe you were instructed to leave the cave so you could rest.”
Dick pushed himself out from under the bed and sat so he was leaning against the bed frame. He flashed a dazzling smile. “Sorry, Alfred. I just had the idea to check the bed frame for any hidden messages or compartments. Wouldn’t have been able to sleep without doing it.”
Alfred sniffed. “We have already been over every inch of this room. You will not find anything new and you know this.”
Dick sighed, letting the smile drop away, and rubbed his face. He looked down at the carpet as he picked at it. “I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep. I just keep seeing his face. He was certain we were going to hurt him, Alfred. My own brother. How could I have failed him so badly?”
Alfred’s shoes came into view as he walked further into the room and sat next to Dick. “You haven’t failed him, Master Dick. And you know that. His fears were his own; based on experiences from before he ever joined this family. And we did not know there were problems to address. But we do now and I have full faith that you will solve this and bring Master Danny back home.”
“I wish I had your optimism, Alfred.”
“Then I shall just have to have enough for the both of us. Now, if you insist on being useful, Titus could use his afternoon walk. Normally Master Bruce or I take care of it…”
“But with B injured and the house full, you’ve got enough to handle. I’ll take care of it, Alfred.”
“Thank you, my boy. Now, help an old man up.”
Dick laughed; it wasn’t sincere, not truly, but he knew it’d make Alfred feel better. “Don’t even pretend you can’t get up on your own.” But he still did as requested and helped Alfred to his feet.
“When you’re my age, you will know what troubles I face.”
“Sure, Alfred. Now, where is Titus right now?”
Ten minutes later, Dick was outside in the late spring sun throwing a tennis ball for Titus. The dog was delighted with the game.
He rather felt like it should be raining or overcast or something. Not a balmy spring day with birds singing and bees buzzing in the clover. Danny was still missing; it shouldn’t be a nice day.
His next throw went much farther than he planned, and Titus bounded away.
Dick groaned and collapsed to the ground. He threw an arm over his eyes as he bit back his tears. Everyone was relying on him to hold it together. Damian was on a hair trigger and he was the only one who could keep him in line consistently; Tim was sunk deep into his research and barely surfacing for another energy drink every few hours; Jason and Bruce couldn’t be around each other for more than ten minutes without someone starting to yell. Duke was spending more and more time on patrol trying to find any information on the meta angle.
And all of them came to him to complain about the others. His family needed him. He couldn’t fall apart.
When a shadow fell over his face, he cracked open an eye expecting to see a cloud covering the sun. Instead he screamed and jumped to his feet as he came face-to-face with Clark.
“Warn a guy next time!”
Clark, the bastard, just laughed at him. “Hey, Dick. Didn’t expect to find you here.”
Before he could reply, Titus returned, ball clenched proudly in his mouth. “Good boy,” said Dick as he petted him. “Ready to go back inside?” To Clark, he said, “Most of us are staying at the manor right now. What brings you here?”
“We’re worried. Bruce called in saying he had an injury that would prevent field work for a few weeks. At the same time, Tim told Kon hed be unavailable for Young Justice missions until further notice. And Damian canceled a sleepover with Jon with no explanation. So I made two of Ma’s pies and decided to come over for a visit. What’s going on?”
Dick sighed. “Danny’s gone. He discovered who we were.” He let out a hysterical laugh. “And apparently thinks that because we work with the US government it means we were just pretending to like him to gather information so we could turn him over to someone who would hold him against his will and torture him.”
Clark landed and pulled him into a hug. Dick clung on tightly. “Why does he think that?”
Dick shrugged and, reluctantly, pulled away. “Apparently his parents betrayed him once already. I think…” Dick closed his eyes and whistled sharply. “Come, Titus.” He held onto Titus’s collar and began walking away from Clark towards the manor. “We think he already has experience being held and tortured. And that it was his parents fault.”
Clark’s sharp inhale proved his horror at such a thought.
“Yeah. So now Danny’s gone and we have no idea how to search for him. Did B tell you he’s a meta? We knew he had some powers, but clearly we missed some because now we suspect invisibility, density shifting, and flight. So we’re trying to find the people who want to hurt him. But we keep hitting walls!” Titus whined when his grip tightened too much. Dick winced and let go immediately to pet the dog. “Sorry, Titus. You’re such a good boy.”
Clark draped an arm around his shoulders. “Well, why don’t you take me to the cave and you can go over everything you know. Maybe a fresh pair of eyes will help.”
Dick shrugged. “Couldn’t hurt. And maybe seeing you will remind Bruce he knows how to do more than grunt when people ask him a question.”
Clark winced. “That bad, huh?”
“Worse, if I’m honest. Danny shot him with an energy weapon before density shifting out of the cave. So now his newest kid is missing and he’s too injured to go out and search for him.”
Clark let out a low whistle. “Yep. That’ll do it.”
Dick pulled out his phone and opened the group chat. A quick text ensured everyone who was around would make their way to the cave. “I’ve told everyone to meet us in the cave. We’ll swing by the kitchen to get some plates and cutlery for the pie. Thanks for that, by the way.”
Clark ruffled his hair. “You know me, I’m too midwestern to show up anywhere unannounced without food.”
Dick gave a half smile, unable to muster up anything warmer.
Clark tried to keep up a stream of small talk as they swung by the kitchens to gather the plates. But Dick just couldn’t keep up with it. His mind was just too far away, on a young boy with blue eyes who loved hugs and had fit into the family so smoothly.
When they got to the cave, Tim didn’t even look up at the sound of the elevator doors opening. Dick followed his lead and ignored him, instead going straight to Bruce.
“You’ve got a visitor, B!”
Bruce only grunted and didn’t look up from his laptop.
Clark hid a smile. “I’m sure Alfred raised you better than that, Bruce.”
“Indeed I did,” declared Alfred with a sniff from where he was making notes in Bruce’s medical chart.
Bruce’s head whipped up at the sound of Clark’s voice and Dick bit his lip to keep from laughing. “Clark? What are you doing here?”
“Been worried about you and the kids, so I made some pie and decided to come on over. Kon and Jon are both waiting for updates as well.”
Apparently the appearance of Clark and Kon’s name was enough to finally drag Tim from the batcomputer for the first time in days. “Is Kon okay?”
Clark gave him a fond smile. “He’s fine, lad. It’s you—all of you—we’re worried about.”
Bruce looked away. “It’s Danny.”
Clark nodded and sat on the foot of the bed. “Dick’s told me a little. Let’s wait for the others to join us and you can all tell me everything.”
Dick checked his phone. “Babs said my text woke her up and don’t start discussions without her.”
Clark looked at him sharply. “Barbara is here, too? You really meant it when you said everyone’s been staying here, didn’t you?”
Dick shrugged. “Yeah, well, it’s Danny.”
Tim laughed mirthlessly. “Yeah, he’s the only one who all of us like pretty much all the time.”
Clark frowned as he looked around at the people gathered, but didn’t say anything.
Alfred bustled in with a chair. “If some of you would help me set up chairs for everyone? We might as well be comfortable as we talk and eat.”
“Of course, Alfred,” said Clark, seeming relieved. “Be happy to help.”
Honestly, with how many people were there, it only took a minute. Jason and Stephanie arrived just as they were finishing up.
“Duke messaged me,” said Jason. “He’s on his way back from patrol.”
“Damian?” asked Dick.
“I am here, Richard,” said the boy as he walked into the medbay. “I apologize for my tardiness. I was with Alfred the cat and didn’t notice your message immediately.”
Dick went to his side and ruffled his hair. He ignored Damian’s glare with years of practice. “Glad you could make it. Come on, let’s get you a slice of pie.”
“I’ll start slicing,” said Clark.
By the time the pie was sliced and everyone had a piece, Barbara had arrived.
“Where is Duke?” asked Bruce.
Tim pulled up the tracking information on his laptop. “Looks like he’s only twenty minutes out.”
“He’d’ve said something if he’d learned anything new,” said Jason. “I say we just start sharing now. He’ll be back before we get through it all.”
“Agreed,” said Bruce.
Clark nodded and looked around the room. Dick just knew he was cataloging how exhausted they all looked. “What can you tell me about what happened?”
“Daniel lost his mind and attacked Father,” said Damian.
“Listen here, Demon Brat,” argued Jason, “you know damn well that’s not what happened.”
And when Tim backed up Jason, it became a shouting match. Dick buried his face in his hands. A headache was forming and he knew if he tried to intervene, he’d just make it worse right now.
“Enough!” said Alfred when it became clear the others wouldn’t calm down on their own. “We will go over it one at a time. Master Richard, you may start.”
So Dick gave all the information he knew. When one of the others indicated they wanted to add more, he let them. Alfred made sure no one overstepped. Duke arrived partway through and described what he saw when Danny disappeared and used his powers.
When everyone was finally satisfied they’d shared everything they knew, Barbara pulled out a tablet to show Clark the footage of the confrontation in the cave.
“And you don’t know where he got that weapon?” asked Clark after he watched it twice.
“No clue,” said Tim. “We’ve searched his room a dozen times since then, but there’s nothing even remotely like it.”
Jason nodded. “And I’ve been asking around. No one I can find has ever heard of one like it.”
Alfred added, “Even I was unaware he was in possession of such an object.”
Clark hummed as he replayed the last few seconds of the video where Danny density shifted through the stone. “He brought it with him when he left.”
“You’ve thought of something,” said Bruce.
“Could he have hidden the weapon inside something? Like a wall or the floor?”
Bruce hummed as he thought. “Is that even possible?”
Dick shrugged. “We know very little about what he can and can’t do.”
“Want me to take a look at his room with my X-ray vision?” asked Clark.
Bruce nodded. “Please.” No one commented on the begging tone in his voice.
And for the first time in days, Dick felt hope rising in his chest.
“And do we have any idea what he meant by Jason being in trouble, too?”
Jason shrugged. “Probably has something to do with how I died. I’m apparently the only one who can sense Danny’s empathy, too. And I mean supernatural empathy, not the normal person kind.”
Bruce agreed. “I found the most information on Amity Park when I found my way to supernatural message boards. Zatana is looking into some things for me as well. But it always leads back to ghosts. Though why Jason alone is of interest when others in the family have also died is uncertain.”
“I see. Well, I suppose we’ll find out when you get him home. Who wants to show me Danny’s room? We might as well start there.”
Of course, no one was willing to sit this one out. The biggest argument arose when Bruce insisted on pushing himself to his feet. He refused the wheelchair Alfred tried to insist he use, but a raised eyebrow and pursed lips did get him to take the crutches.
Dick and Jason exchanged a smirk at the scene. Alfred always got his way.
So, the entire group made their way out of the cave and through the halls of Wayne Manor until Clark stopped in the doorway to Danny’s room.
He let out a low whistle. “Whatever his powers are, he can definitely hide things in other objects. He’s left a lot behind.”
“Can you tell what they are?” asked Bruce.
Clark shrugged. “Some of them. There’s another item that looks like that blaster he had. Some…rope? I think? A tool box in the floor. A case that’s probably lead-lined. And a lot of stuff that I just can’t identify. I mean, a random cylindrical object. Some rectangles, maybe external hard-drives?”
Damian stepped forward, gripping the handle of his katana. “Then we will smash the walls to see what he is hiding.”
Dick rushed forward to put an arm around Damian’s shoulders and stop him from doing anything.
“Indeed not, Master Damian.” Alfred gave the boy a level look. “We want Master Danny to have a home to return to. And what sort of welcome would he feel if he came back to a destroyed room? Master Bruce, Mr. Kent, I am aware you have other collegues who can density shift. Could one of them be prevailed upon to come and remove the items?”
Damian scowled and kicked at the floor. Dick bit back his smile. The kid really did care about their missing brother, whatever he said.
Clark nodded. “I’ll call J’onn, Alfred.”
-----
Several of you guessed this is where I was going to take it the minute I introduced Clark. Didn't see anyone mention J'onn, though. (But that might be because I was sharing such small segments, so fewer people were speculating.) Let me know what you think!
I've finally gotten around to making a Subscription Post for this fic, so follow that if you want notifications!
@hailsatanacab also started a fill for this prompt that I absolutely adore, so check that out here! (It hurts, it hurts so good.)

DP X DC WRITING PROMPT #19
Beware! Not gonna lie, this prompt is creepy. I was feeling some horror vibes and decided to write it down. Whether or not it's actually creepy is for you guys to decide tho. However, just in case...
CW: Mentions of blood/ectoplasm, human experimentation, and descriptions of other unsettling imagery. Mind the tags!! They can give you a summary of what this prompt is about.
(#) = Notes at the end of post. Important context!!
Echoes of the Soul
Danny is captured and taken away by the GIW to be experimented on and despite the combined efforts of his friends, family, and former enemies he's never found. Decades pass, the GIW were shut down at some point and put to trial for all of the atrocities they committed while Danny is recorded as the first superhero know to history. Tragic though his story may be, many modern teenage heroes look up to him.
Danny would only be seen as a memory by the world. Seen as someone who did actually exist at some point, but time and mystery have lessened his impact on other's thoughts and emotions like many other people and instances throughout history. However, it isn't until Jason is on his way back to Gotham since the first time he died(1) that he accidentally/unknowingly takes a detour.
He can't pinpoint why he's taking a longer route back to the city of his birth and death, but something in his chest, his heart, is telling him to follow an unknown path. Though mildly irritated, he follows it regardless. The incessant tug at his ribcage eventually leads him down some back roads into the middle of nowhere, where he finds something.(2)
From the outside, it looks like a regular dilapidated house in the country that was long left abandoned. Something inside Jason screams that the isn't the case at all. He dismounts his motorcycle and circles the property for anything suspicious. He's as cautious and stealthy as a cat stalking a mouse through the grass. Finding nothing, he eventually makes his way to the door, having to break it down to even enter it.
As he steps into the house, all the hair on his body stands on end and he's immediately on edge. Nothing on the ground floor seems suspicious, if a little empty. It was clear nobody had lived here for quite some time, but the feeling in Jason's chest wouldn't leave. If anything, it wrapped itself tighter around his chest, squeezing his lungs and heart to point of almost panicking.
Searching the house and finding nothing in the side rooms, he eventually finds a door to what he can only assume leads to the basement. As soon as his hand even touches the doorknob, his skin is crawling with chills and his teeth are chattering no so much from the cold but from fear he can't locate the source of.
The door creaks when it opens and reveals the stairs leading down into a yawning mouth of darkness. Flashlight in one hand and a pistol in the other, he cautiously begins his dissent. Once at the bottom, he finds another door. Only this time, it's completely out of place. Instead of a rotting, wooden door barely hanging onto it's hinges, this door is made of thick reinforced steel with a lever and a keypad where a doorknob should be. It's not difficult to figure out the code to unlock it. With his history, it might as well of been child's play to crack it.
Once the door was opened, however, he wished he'd left it locked. He wishes he never even set foot in this house or even followed the tugging at his ribs in the first place. On the other side of the door was a lab. All of the equipment and surfaces were left in disarray, some trays full of tool even knocked onto the floor as if whoever owned the lab was in a hurry. Or whatever they were studying was trying to get out.
The fact that he was looking at a destroyed lab, was the least worrisome observation, however. Everywhere he looked there were splatters of glowing green, some duller than others. Just the sight of them had the Pits roiling in upset, tinting the edges of his vision green as well. He steps further into the lab, careful not to step on any of the sharp tools littering the floor as well as any puddles of glowing green.
Eyes constantly scanning for any movement, he eventually makes his way to the center of the room, right next to a large, steel lab stable, complete with wrist, ankle, and neck staps. The surface was littered with deep scratch marks and more splatters of the same glowing green substance that he can only assume is blood. There was even an almost perfectly shaped handprint of the stuff curling around the edge of the table. Morbidly curious, he reached out to touch the handprint, wondering if it was related to the Pits somehow.
He didn't get to wonder for long, however. As soon as his fingertips so much as brushed against the handprint, the feeling he'd been following for the past week suddenly had his chest in a stranglehold followed by a vomit-inducing yank that left him dizzy and off-balance. He didn't have time to gather his wits before his ears were flooded with hair-raising screams and sounds of struggle.
Ignoring the nausea, his head whipped back up to the lab table he was standing in front of. What met his eyes was a young boy with black hair and terrified green-tinted blue eyes as he laid strapped to the table with men in white lab coats surrounding him, with one in particular having his green stained arm elbow deep in the boy's vivisected chest.(3) This one is important! More context below!
Notes:
(1) This takes place before Jason returns to Gotham in Under The Red Hood
(2) What Jason is feeling is his baby halfa core reacting to a distress signal being sent by another halfa.
(3) This isn't a time travel prompt. What happened here is Jason got sucked into a very corporeal memory/imprint that belonged to Danny. What Danny experienced in that lab filled him with such raw emotions that everything that is part of him (i.e.- his blood) trapped every experience into a playable memory when said blood is touched. The memory is, in essence, still very much a part of Danny. What does that say about Danny's current existence? He's trapped. He's trapped in a neverending, disjointed cycle of reliving everything that was done to him and is forced to haunt the very lab he was held captive in. What does this mean for Jason since he got sucked into it? He's trapped too! However, with another person there, they can help Danny break out of the cycle and free himself. What will escaping mean? Will he permanently die? Will he come back a full ghost? Will Jason helping another person through the horrors of their own death help bring closure to his own? What does this mean for the rise of Red Hood? That's all up to you guys!

Danny Fenton has 1 (One) Nerve Left, and it is Almost Fried
WC: 13,865
Ao3
Summary:
“Boss?” Asked FRIDAY. Tony looked up from the hologram he’d been staring at for the last two hours. “Yes?” He replied. He grabbed a smoothie from DUM-E's waiting claw, checked it for motor oil, and took a sip. It wouldn’t be the first time he made that mistake. “Danny Phantom has entered the building.” She informed. Tony grinned. “Let’s get the show on the road then, yeah?” Tony had a personal intern to coerce to and a tour group to stalk. aka; A re-imagining of the "Stark Industries Trip" trope starring a very anxious half-ghost :)
Read the first chapter below the cut!
“I have great news!” Mr Lancer was unusually cheery for a Monday morning. Danny certainly was not feeling the same.
Danny's feet dragged as he stumbled into class, fifteen minutes after the bell. Desiree had decided to go on a wishing spree during lunch and he had to track her down. She was easy enough to defeat- just wish she would go into the thermos- but this time she had taken to wearing earmuffs so she couldn’t hear him, and he had to knock those off first.
It was a hassle he had not been looking forward to this early on a Monday.
Lancer sent Danny a scathing look, but it was quickly wiped away and replaced by a smile.
…weird.
Tucker looked concerned as Danny as he took his seat with a slight limp. But Danny waved the concern away. He was fine. Nothing he hadn’t suffered through before. He’d just taken a hard landing. Totally his own fault.
“Well, there is a touch of bad mixed into this news. The senior trip to Washington DC has been canceled.” Lancer announced. A chorus of complaints rang out. Danny was relieved. He hadn’t been looking forward to spending a long weekend away from Amity Park. No, he did not have attachment issues. (Lie.)
“Sh-Shh! That’s not all!” Lancer looked vaguely annoyed. The class barely quieted down at all. He seemed to resign himself to the chaos he’d created.
“It has been replaced.” Oh, no. That couldn’t be good. What, were they gonna go on a field trip to the Ghost Zone or something?
No, no. Danny could see that actually happening. He wiped the thought from his recent memory, pretending it had never existed in the first place. Best not to tempt fate, for it was cruel.
“A wondrous chance has arisen.” Said Lancer, sounding like he’d walked right out of one of Shakespear’s poems. Or wait, was he a poet? Or did he write something else?
Danny had sat through far too many of Lancer’s classes with raging concussions to remember such minute details.
”Instead of Washington DC, we are going to New York!” Lancer grinned. The class broke out into whispers yet again. Though they weren’t really whispering anymore. Lancer seemed to have given up. He collapsed into his desk chair, head cradled in his hands. If he was already this defeated, how would he handle this many teenagers in a whole other state?
‘That might be even worse than the Ghost Zone.’
See, Danny (Phantom) and New York did not mix very well.
New York was the home of superheroes, and well, that was really the most accurate title for Danny and his ‘ghostly protector’ MO. It wasn’t really all that likely he’d stumble upon an Avenger on the street, but he didn’t want to chance it. He had no interest in being a part of that band. Or worse, they might think he’s a criminal like the GIW do. His inner, childhood Iron-Man-fanboy wouldn’t be able to handle that.
Maybe with the change of plans Danny could fake an excuse? His parents had already signed the Washington DC permission slip, but they hadn’t checked off on this one yet. He could still weasel his way out.
Paulina raised her hand.
“You mean, like, New York, New York, right? The city that never sleeps?” She asked. Danny could hear the stars in her eyes. Lancer seemed relieved to actually be being paid attention to.
He nodded vigorously. His widened smile was almost disturbing.
“This school has been giving the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to actually tour Stark Tower! The base of operations for Stark Industries in New York!”
‘Oh Ancients, kill me now.’
~linebreak~
“Moooom! Daaaad!” Danny called down the lab stairs. There was no response, but Danny wasn’t really surprised. The GAV was in the driveway, so his parents had to be home. And he could hear their heartbeats in the lab. They probably just had hearing protection on.
Danny’s footsteps echoed heavily as he descended. (On purpose.)
Sure enough, there were his parents. Dad had on a welding mask and earmuffs, and was loudly yelling. On the other side of him was Mom, who sat on a rolling stool that was pulled up to a workstation. Danny could feel that she was buzzing with annoyance.
The portal glowed dimly from the other side of the room. Danny tried his best to avoid staring at it for too long. The eternal swirling and dance of ectoplasm had a mesmerizing effect. He’d lost hours of his life right after The Accident, fixated on the surface of the portal and yearning just to touch-
“Honey!” Mom exclaimed. She slid past Dad and wrapped Danny up in a hug.
“How was your day?” She asked. Which clued Danny in to the fact that something was definitely up. She never asked him anything like that. Usually they just shooed him out of the lab when he paid them a visit. It had been a hassle to get them to sign the original permission slip.
“...what’s going on?” Danny asked. His suspicion was plain to hear.
Dad finally removed his earmuffs.
“Oh,” He chuckled sheepishly.
“We have good news!” Mom said cheerily. After the day he had, Danny didn’t need any more ‘good news.’ Not to mention that what was ‘good’ for his parents was usually ‘horrifically bad’ for him. Usually it had to do with new inventions. And if they were this happy, it had to be something especially dangerous and/or lethal. (Either worked.)
“We’re chaperoning your trip!” Dad exclaimed. Mom shoved him playfully.
“You weren’t supposed to tell him yet!” She chided. But the smile didn’t leave her face.
Danny’s first thought was, ‘I’m going to die (again) on this trip, aren’t I?’
“The New York trip?” Danny was already traumatized. And they hadn’t even gotten on the bus yet.
Dad nodded his head. His smile was shockingly similar to the one Lancer had been wearing earlier.
“They sent out an email last night, asking parents not to spill the beans. They also asked for any chaperones, since your entire grade is going. So we volunteered!” Mom looked up at Dad and he shared her grin.
Dad wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Danny begged his knees not to give out under the force. Sometimes his Dad forgot his own strength.
“Aren’t you excited?”
Danny tried not to let the terror show on his face. Not too much, at least. He’d never been very good at telling his face what to do.
“Yeah!” His voice shook.
“Sure- sure am. Can’t wait.” For this to be over already.
~linebreak~
Which was how Danny ended up here.
He and his classmates took up a whole two cars on the Subway. Why the school decided to stuff a bunch of teenagers on public transport was beyond him. Mr. Lancer was having a hell of a time trying to navigate. He squinted down at an app on his phone and tried to figure out where they needed to be going. He’d already led them astray twice. They must’ve traveled under half of New York by now.
Oh, and they were officially ten minutes late for their tour of Stark Tower. Would they cancel the tour if they were late enough?
Dad stood behind Danny, taking up the entire width of the doorway. He looked queasy, and was holding onto a pole for dear life. Mom was trying to comfort him, but he looked like he was gonna hurl. They drove the GAV over curbs and took out cones like they were bowling pins, how did this make them sick?
The subway car screeched to a stop and Dad’s face turned a sickly shade of green.
“Next up is our stop, everyone!” Lancer announced suddenly. There was about a… 17% chance of him being right. If Danny had to guess. Just picking a random number.
Classmates around him buzzed into action, collecting their things and themselves. Dannywas surrounded by laughter and smiles. Kids happy to be away from their parents and home, with their friends.
It was a stark (heh) contrast to Danny’s own loneliness.
Tucker was having a big family reunion- the first in years- so he couldn’t come. He would’ve been able to go to DC, but there was a date change and he couldn’t just ask all of his family to cancel. And his parents wanted him there to help out and socialize.
Sam’s mother Pamela had just straight-up refused to let her go- “to that rubbish bin of a city! What could happen to my little Sammykins?! So far away from home!”
It probably didn't help that Pamela wasn't allowed to be a chaperone. Not after what happened last time at the Zoo.
Danny shuddered at the memory. Giraffes could be surprisingly vicious.
Valerie was the only familiar face around, but things were still iffy between them. Danny had finally come clean to her about his identity last fall, but ever since then things had been… stiff. Awkward. When they were both out ghost fighting at the same time they’d work together, but aside from some fight banter they’d barely said a word to each other.
Which was fine with Danny, usually, but he was finding himself wanting someone to talk to that wasn’t his parents.
They weren’t very good conversationalists, unless he asked about ghosts. But he wasn’t in the mood to hear about all the ways they’d tear his ghost half apart ‘molecule by molecule.’
Danny had tried to sneak off at the last moment before they got on the bus out of Amity Park, but it was Sam and Tucker who convinced him to go. They had shown up to see him off. Which he greatly appreciated, seeing as the sun hadn't even risen yet. It was a nice gesture. If a little inconvenient, because Tucker showed up with his new-and-improved ‘Foley Gauntlets’ and physically refused to let him go. It was the most evil hand-holding he’d ever experienced.
His best friends- no, traitors- weren’t about to let him dip. They said he needed a break and some time off from being a ghostly protector. But how was spending half a week in another state with his parents supposed to be a break? If anything, it would be more stressful than staying home. But they seemed to be convinced that this was best for his well-being, and they wouldn’t give up.
Sam and Tuck assured him that things would be fine, and they could handle any ghostly threats. Danny wanted to have faith in their abilities. After all, they’d been at this just as long as he had. But he couldn’t help the worry, the nagging feeling at the back of his head.
Danny weaseled them into promising they’d give him a call if things got out of hand. It was only a two-hour flight! He could probably shave off 15 minutes if he really pushed it. But Danny didn’t really trust them to alert him. His idea of safety and theirs were vastly different. And yes, Danny knew how hypocritical that was. But he couldn't find it himself to care enough to change it.
Danny had already checked the Amity Park News a dozen times since he got on the bus.
All of this to say, Danny was alone. Alone and with his parents, to be exact. Danny took a picture of Dad looking ready to puke and sent it to the group chat titled ‘Loser Trio.’
The doors opened and everyone around Danny hopped into action. Welp, here it went. Danny slipped his phone into his pocket. He hoped nothing disastrous happened on the tour.
He probably just jinxed himself there.
Ugh.

DPxDC one shot
(Jazz has run away with Danny to Gotham, where she meats a kindred spirit. Inspired by the fact that Dick Greyson and Jazz are in very similar situations!!) ao3
Jazz took a deep breath as she stared blankly at the mess of papers in front of her. Who knew kidnapping, her brother would require this much paper work? Usually she'd be able to knock out things like this in thirty minutes or less. Bureaucratic paper work was almost a game for her in that way. But that was before she had to lie. The fact was that even if their parents even noticed they were gone, and wanted Danny back, Jazz didn't want them anywhere near her or her brother. In fact the only people she was comfortable with letting anywhere near them were Tucker and Sam. That was it. Everyone else needed to stay at least a hundred miles away, or else she was going to whack them with the creep stick. But just because they weren't wanted in Amity by more than two people, didn't mean that people wouldn't start looking for them. Vlad and the GIW were only a few names that came to mind. So if she was going to keep Danny safe, then they needed to disappear.
Hence why Jazmine Williams was fighting a migraine at a dingy folding card table, while Daniel Williams was sleeping in a sleeping bag on a sagging outdated couch. She had saved up roughly $10,000 from tutoring, baby sitting, and part time jobs. It was now all in a roll of cash she had hidden in her sleeping bag. It would last them a year if she budgeted, but she needed a job if she was going to send Danny to school. She needed legal custody of Danny, if she was going to send him to school. She was 19, she was allowed to adopt her brother. But she needed a lot of fake documents to even prove that they even existed, much less that she was a proper guardian. Fake documents, that would cost money.
She sighed and leaned back as Danny mumbled in his sleep. Part of her wondered if all of that would even matter. After all, this was Gotham, and Danny was 16, and he was brilliant. He could get his GED, easily. His grades might have been slipping from the pressures of being a super hero ghost, but that only proved that with the proper time and support he would be a genius! They were a family of geniuses, and Danny was no exception. "Bastard geniuses," she muttered, scowling at the thought of their "parents." She pushed the thought, of Danny graduating early out of her mind. She would not pressure him the way their parents had. Besides, Danny needed a strong, supporting social life. He needed friends that were not over a thousand miles away. He needed a community that would not spurn him because of his psychological disposition, and persecute him for his physical condition.
"Well," she thought lazily as she attempted to organize the papers for the fifth time that night, "It's summer, so I won't have to worry about that for a while. What I need to focus on now is getting a job, and where I can find some forged adoption papers. Perhaps--"
Danny's scream ripped through the apartment. The papers flew into the air as Jazz rushed to side. Danny was flickering between intangibility and solidity, as he thrashed and screamed for it to stop. She didn't know what he wanted to stop, but it wouldn't. Jazz screamed his name, grabbing his shoulders when he was tangible. She felt hot tears falling down her face, as she begged for him to wake up. At last, after what seemed to be forever, Danny's eyes flew open. The glowed a toxic green, as he took deep breaths. Jazz took him through the now all too familiar process forcing air into her half-dead brother's lungs, as he slowly returned to the present. Did he know that the exercise was as much for her as it was for him? That she needed to remember to breath, just as much as he did? Did he know the surge of panic and pain that filled her every time his night terrors revealed some new horror he had experience?
If he knew he didn't say anything as he simply followed, Jaz's instructions. She rubbed his arms in time with their breaths. She needed to remember he was there, that he was solid, and present. She needed to remember that even though he had died, he was still alive right in front of her. "It's ok," she whispered. "It's ok Danny. I'm here. You're safe now. It's all going to be ok."
Danny nodded numbly as his eyes bled back to blue. "I know," he muttered, "I know." He looked her in the face, and reached up his hand tentatively. She sat confused for a moment, until he wiped tears from her cheeks. When had she started crying? She took in her own shuddering breath as Danny stared at the tears in confusion, as if he couldn't comprehend anyone crying for him. She pulled him into a bear hug, as tight as she could manage. He needed to feel how much she cared. He needed to know how much she loved him.
She waited until he was hugging her back. She said nothing. He said nothing. Neither of them moved, until Danny started shaking. "I died Jazz. I...I am dead...I'm a walking corpse." She said nothing as she felt the hot tears fall down his face. What could she say to that? None of her psychology books had prepared her for this! So she sat, and she listened, not daring to say a word as he muttered his dream into her shoulder. Her eyes widened as she realized what he was saying. He had just relived his death...in his dream. He had fallen asleep thinking of his ghost dog, and suddenly, he was back there, in the lad, dying and living at the same time, as ectoplasm seeped into his blood, and electricity had ruptured every nerve in his body.  Jazz didn't think she could hold her brother any tighter, but she did. And she let her own silent tears fall as she wept for her brother. He had lived. But he had died.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dick Greyson groaned in confusion and panic as he stared at the wall of books in front of him. "How many parenting books are there?" he muttered as he began perusing, more than a little overwhelmed. There were at least a thousand books dedicated just to infants. There were even more dedicated to toddlers. He scoffed at a book labeled, "Do it like Batman: How to ensure your child survives the streets of Gotham" He took a picture of it, so that he, Jason, and Tim could laugh about it later. Bruce hadn't been the worst parent. He was kind, supportive, and genuinely seemed to care about all of them. But Dick was certain that the Dark Night had never set foot in this section of the book store. And now...he was missing, and Dick was filling the role he never wanted to fill, and stepping into a position he never expected to be in. He was Batman. And to top it all off, he was Damian's legal guardian.
Dick shook his head as he finally found the parenting teenagers section. It was significantly smaller than all of the other sections, and at first dick thought that might be helpful...It wasn't. He wondered if this was how Bruce felt, when he had taken him in. Did he feel this underprepared? This out of his depth? This overwhelmed with the responsibility of the mental, emotional, and physical well being of an angry, traumatized, and potentially deadly teenager? God! he really wish Bruce had any parenting books in the manner. Still, he had turned out ok right? Right?
He groaned as he began reading the titles of the books in front of him. What even was Gotham? So your teen idolizes a Rouge: On a scale from Catwoman to Joker how worried should you be about your teenager's rebellion? Right beside, So your teen idolizes Batman: Should you be worried about them becoming the next Robin? And of course there was, Gangs and Teens: How to keep your rebellious teen out of a gang. Also right beside, Teens and Gangs: How to direct your rebellious teen to right kind of gang. "Ok, but what about when your traumatized, emotionally stunted little brother swings a sword at everything that moves?" Dick muttered.
A soft chuckle drew his attention to the person standing next to him. She was tall, with long vibrant red hair that could rival Barbra's. The young woman seemed to be around his age and had a soft smile as she glanced at him with pale blue eyes. But there was a sadness in those eyes, and an exhaustion in that smile that Dick was only far to familiar with. The exhaustion of being to little prepared for a responsibility that you were just to young for. The young woman seemed to share his sense of familiarity, because her smile brightened a touch when she said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to eaves drop."
"No, it's alright," Dick said cheerfully. "I have a feeling you get it."
"Brother, check," the young said, "Traumatized, check. Emotionally stunted, probably, but he's getting better. Sword, no. But expressing his rage through wanton violence, check!"
Dick laughed, "Maybe we should start a club. A...'We only have our brothers but their little shits who can't stay out of danger club?'"
The young woman laughed so brightly, it made Dick's growing smile feel just a touch more genuine. "That's my Danny! I'm Jazz by the way."
"Dick, and yes I know, it's a childhood nickname."
"Short for Richard," Jazz nodded her understanding, "Well try having the nickname 'Jazz!'"
Dick thought about it and unbidden a thousand corny jokes popped into his mind. "Oh yeah, I can see where that could get annoying. Would you prefer me to call you..."
"Jasmine, and no. I only go by Jasmine in professional settings."
"Fair enough," Dick said turning back to the bookshelf, "So, any idea which of these we should get."
"Hm," Jazz hummed, as she selected one with a raised eyebrow. "I doubt, Your Rebellious Teen: What to do when your teen goes to Crime Alley for "Supplies" applies to either of us."
Dick laughed, "I think the only reason, Damian would go to Crime Alley is to kill some one...you know maybe I should take that one."
"I wouldn't," Jazz said reading the back, completely unfazed by his brother potentially killing someone, "It looks like this book uses outdated stereotypes to categorize healthy teenage angst into wanton criminal behavior, and suggests strenuous disciplinary action that would only reinforce our brothers' negative behavior and exacerbate their psychological trauma, rather than laying out strategies that will promote healthy living, and an emotionally safe environment in which they can express themselves in a healthy, stable, and safe manner until they come to terms with the true emotional source of their destructive behaviors." She looked up, and saw Dick blink at her, opened mouth in awe. "What?"
"Are you sure you shouldn't be writing these books instead of reading them?"
Jazz laughed and blushed, "I've always had a fascination with psychology. Mainly because my parents are certifiably insane, but it's always good to get an experts opinion, no matter how much you've studied. Besides my studies in psychology have always been focused on the development of the brain, and mental illnesses, not trauma." Here she sighed and stared at the wall of books wistfully, "If only I knew."
"Yeah," Dick said taking in the overwhelming selection declaring everything that could he could do wrong with dubious advice. "Me too."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Jazz said softly. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, and Dick felt her study him. She was demure, and unobtrusive, but sincere with a tough core.
He grinned at her brightly, "You are going to make a great therapist. No, don't deny it. I can already tell. And yes I would love to talk about it. I love talking about my brother, all of them. But not here...uh...coffee?"
Jazz smiled brightly again and his heart skipped a little. "Coffee sounds great! Let me get you my number."
"Right," said Dick pulling out his phone, "And uh, if you want to talk about it..."
He let the question go unasked, as she froze. And Dick understood. She was like Alfred. Always kind, always willing to help. Always ready to listen and support, but never allowing others to help and support her. He briefly wondered if this was the first time anyone had asked her if she needed to talk things through. After all, if her brother was traumatized, chances were, so was she. In the end, Dick was glad he had asked, because she looked up at him with the brightest smile, and said, "Yeah, that would be nice! Thank you, Dick!"
They exchanged numbers, and continued to talk about nothing and everything. And when Dick finally said good-bye with three books that Jazz deemed worthy of their attention, he felt a lot lighter than he had in a long while.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damian stood scowling beside Greyson as they looked over the city. He refused to call Greyson Batman in his head, because he was just so bad at it. Yes, his brother was an acceptable warrior, leader, and he had Damian's utmost respect for a great many things. But he smiled. Batman does not smile. And he joked, and ruffled his hair. Batman was a terror to the hearts of the guilty! He did not joke! Still, there was no one else, mainly because everyone else refused. Damian didn't know if they just refused to work with him, or if they just didn't want the moniker. Whatever their qualms, Greyson didn't have them. So Damian was forced to put up with a smiling, joking, affectionate Batman, when he needed to be cold, serious, and intimidating. At least until he was older. Then he could claim the moniker and Greyson could go back to...whatever it was that Greyson did.
Damian huffed, and Greyson took that as a request to speak, "You alright kiddo?"
"I am fine," Damian scowled trying not to reach up and scratch his mask.
"Well, it seems to be a quiet night. We can always, head in early and watch a movie..."
"Tt, crime never sleeps, Batman, and is rarely distracted by such frivolity. One would think that after all this time, you would have learned at least that much."
He watched Greyson stiffen, sigh, and then relax. He smiled at the younger boy gently and said, "You're right Robin, we have a responsibility to uphold. And I apologize if my suggestion was crossing a personal boundary. In the future, I will suggest a more appropriate time in advance, so that neither of us are uncomfortable or unprepared."
Robin narrowed his eyes suspiciously before saying, "Have you been reading those useless parenting books again?"
"What? No!"
"You have haven't you?"
"I just want to do this right."
"You're not my father!"
"No, I am not, but I am your guardian. Which means it is my responsibility to take care of you."
"I don't need you to take care of me! I do fine on my own!"
"I'm not denying that Robin. You are the most capable young man I know. And your ablitites are impressive, but I still have a duty of care, not only as your guardian, but as your brother--"
"And you're still talking to that useless psychologist."
"She's not useless, and she's a friend."
"She's a meddling---" CRUNCH.
Batman and Robin spun to see a teenaged boy, in what appeared to be a formfitting black and white hazmat suite with a flaming D imprinted on the chest, floating in midair. But he wasn't just floating, he was lounging as if he was on a couch, and...he was eating popcorn? He stared at them with unblinking, glowing toxic green eyes under shaggy white hair with no expression. Slowly, deliberately and without making a sound, the boy reached down and took a handful of popcorn and crunched it in the most obnoxious way imaginable. The two vigilantes stared at the boy in stunned shock, until the boy cleared his throat and said, "Oh, don't mind me. You can keep talking. This is very interesting!"
"Who are you?" Greyson demanded, and Damian had to admit, when he actually tried, his brother made a pretty convincing Batman. Unfortunately the strange floating boy had just seen him out of character and was therefore not intimidated in the slightest. A fact that was increasingly evident when he straightened and said,
"Oh, I'm just your average superhero ghost kid! Nothing to worry about, please go back to your conversation, it sounded really important, please don't let me interrupt." He then twisted, so that it seemed like he was laying on his stomach, feet in the air. He then gave them both a Cheshire grin, as he took another mouthful of popcorn.
Damian felt his face flush with anger as he marched up to the boy gripping his sword. "We are not your entertainment vermin! Now be gone!"
"Are you sure?" the boy said smirking, "Cause you sure are entertaining! Short stack."
Damian growled, but stopped as Greyson lay a hand on his shoulder. "Robin, stand down. And you, who are you and what do you want?"
The boy cleared his throat and twisted so that he was standing. "We'll get to who I am in a minute. But I just wanted to come and introduce myself. You see, I'm just a simple ghost boy trying to make my way in the world..."
"Ghost?" Batman asked concerned, but the glowing teen ignored him.
"And I floated into Gotham and thought, you know this would be a great place to haunt. The aesthetic is perfect, and the amount of ecto-energy you got here is incredible. The walls between the realms must be pretty thin, huh!"
Batman and Robin exchanged confused looks, but neither dropped their guard. "Are you saying you're dead?" Batman said, sightly horrified.
"Yep!" the Ghost Boy said casually, "And I'm going to be sticking around for awhile, so you guys better get used to me. And maybe a few of my ghost friends who like to spar from time to time."
Damian scowled. He didn't understand half of the words this "Ghost" was saying, but everything about him had his muscles tensed, and his hairs standing on end. He didn't look dead, or translucent, like Boston, but there was something very clearly other worldly about him. He glowed the same toxic green as his eyes. His features were just a little too angular, even his ears. His teeth were just a little too jagged. And his hair...it was pure snowy with that shone and floated around him in him as if her were under water. It was as if gravity didn't apply to him...as if this world didn't apply to him. Damian's hand gripped his sword ready to fight this creature when he growled, "What's your name?"
The Ghost smiled, but before he could say anything, someone yelled "DANNY!"
"Uh oh," the ghost said in terror and flew to hide behind Batman. Suddenly a tall young woman marched onto the roof. Damian recognized her immediately as Greyson's "friend" who he had coffee with once a week. Except in all of the security videos he had watched, she appeared calm, kind, and harmless. Now she was raging with a furry that made even Damian step back as she stalked up them.
"Danny!" she barked, "Stop hiding behind Batman, now! You are in so much trouble young man!"
The Ghost Boy, Danny, came out sheepishly rubbing his neck and he said, "Uh, hey Jazz."
"Don't 'hey Jazz' me, you are in so much trouble! How many times have I told you not to go out at night?! Huh! What if the GIW learns where you are? Or Vlad? Or worse, our parents?! And what did I say about bothering the Bats?!"
"Don't bother the Bats," Danny said glumly.
"Don't bother the Bats!" Jazz exclaimed. "Yet here you are!"
"But Jazz--" Danny whined. "I'm so board! I still haven't mastered portals yet, so I can't go to the Ghost Zone without Clock Work, but all he wants to do is have me study! And I can't fly around during the day, and you won't let me fly at night, and I like flying! And I just want to have some fun!"
Jazz sighed, as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Danny," she said, "I love you, and I know it's hard. This whole thing is," she waved her hand in the air to express just how crazy, whatever this "thing" was. She was holding what appeared to be a high tech boomerang, that had Damian squinting, before she continued, "But Danny, we have to be carful! And there is a better way to introduce yourself to the vigilantes than...I'm sorry how did he introduce himself?"
Greyson opened his mouth, but it was Damian who said, "He was spying on our private conversation while ingesting popcorn."
"Snitch!" Danny yelled, and the same time Jazz exclaimed with a gasp,
"Danny! You know better! I am so sorry Batman, my brother is...well I love him, but he tends to get carried away sometimes. I'm sure you understand."
"I do actually," Greyson said, and Damian scowled. He had dropped the Batman persona in the presence of his "friend," the careless idiot. "But I have some questions. Danny here said he is a ghost doesn't that mean...?"
Jazz sighed as pained exhaustion crossed over her face, "It's rather complicated, but in essence, yes, my brother is dead. And he enjoys using his ghost powers to drive me insane when he should be in the Ghost Zone with Clock Work, and/or Frost Bite."
"But Jazz!"
"You have a responsibility Danny! And Clock Work has been more than patient. Now apologize to Batman and Robin for spying and get your ass to the Ghost Zone, unless you want to help me do taxes then..."
"Fine," Danny groaned, "I apologize for spying and bothering you...And also for my pain in the ass sister who can't take a joke! Bye!"
And with that, Danny vanished, prompting an angry shriek from the redhead. She then began fiddling with her boomerang muttering things Damian wasn't sure he wanted to hear. Finally Greyson cleared his throat and said, "Um excuse me Miss. but I have a great many questions about...this and---"
"Hm," Jazz said looking up at him. "Yes of course, here's my card. I know the old Batman had a no-metas policy, but I'm hoping you and I can come to an arangment."
"What makes you think there's an old Batman?'
Damian scoffed, and Jazz shot him an amused look. "You're body language, and physicality are both very different. But setting that aside, that I really hope we can come to an understanding. We don't have many places to go, and my brother needs friends who are like him...or at least friends who can grasp his situation...I can explain better later, for now I have to track him down and make sure, he's not causing too much trouble. It was nice to meet both of you!"
And with that she disappeared down the fire escape, leaving the two vigilantes in confused and stunned silence as they attempted to process what had just happened. Finally Damian spoke, "I am not befriending that hooligan."
"Yes, you are."
"Just because you are sexually attracted to his sister---"
"Excuse me?"
"Does not mean that I will in any way get along with that ruffian."
"Just introduce him to the others, I'm sure Bart will like him."
Damian's eye's widened in horror, "I am not introducing him to Allen!"
"We'll see," Dick grinned, as he grappled over to the next building.
Three weeks later, in Teen Titan's Tower, Danny Phantom, Impulse, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Super Boy, and Robin could be seen cleaning up copious amounts of glitter and ectoplasm, as Starfire banned all prank wars for all of eternity. Robin didn't know how he got roped in to being involved in the nonsense, but he was sure that it was Danny's fault. He was also sure that their team had thoroughly defeated Allen's team, and since prank wars were now banned, their victory would be eternal.

DP/DC Week Day one - Lazarus Pit/Worst Case Scenarios Only
I have a feeling that the ficlet thing I wrote below the cut could qualify as a “worst case scenario.” Basically, the Pits are meant to heal people right? And in some cases, it can even bring the dead back to life. That’s only half of the premise for the ficlet :)
Danny was on the run. No one would look for him in Gotham, right? He wouldn’t stay long, just long enough to come up with a plan.
He couldn’t stay out on the streets, and anything seemingly abandoned, like a warehouse, would surely have a villain creeping inside there.
He sensed something…strange. He went to source, it was definitely underground, and went down from there.
The cave was vast, the ceiling high, with gadgets and objects all indicating that this was a superhero’s base. Batman’s base.
But no one was in it at the moment, and Danny was dying to know more about he sensed was. Good thing that he was invisible-and being a literal phantom sure helped.
He found a pit filled with an odd liquid. Green like ectoplasm, swirling in unnatural ways.
No one could blame him for being curious, certainly not. And yet, maybe they could blame him for choosing to lay down in the solution.
He didn’t know why he laid there in green pit. It looked so much like ectoplasm, and yet it flowed like water over his hands, crashing into him like a gentle wave.
It wasn’t ectoplasm. It didn’t burn him or give him energy, or stick to him at all.
But he was tired. So very tired.
He closed his eyes, just for a moment as he sank just a bit.
He opened his eyes.
He looked as what he did the moment he died, black and white suit turned to white and black. His skin was pale, his hair was black.
He gasped and crawled out. Looking at himself, in a form he almost didn’t recognize.
He was human again. And no matter how hard he’d tried, he couldn’t turn back.
He was fully human.
But, he didn’t feel the same as before he got his powers. No, something was still off, still ghostly about him.
Danny could definitely see a streak of white in his hair.
He heard the click of a gun. Looking up, he saw the barrel of it pointed right at him. The one and only Red Hood was the one holding it.
“Who the hell are you?” Red Hood questioned, his voice menacing and low.
In all his stupor, Danny did one of the dumbest things he could. Deflect. Now, the reason why this was dumb is because he couldn’t think straight and he’s a terrible lair, making whatever he says sounds like an obvious lie. Even if he isn’t lying.
“I’m definitely not a clone?” Danny breathily mumbled, sounding far too unsure.
A pause.
“No fucking way,” Red Hood shook his head in disbelief. He lowered his gun and holstered it. Then, he took of his helmet. A domino mask was still on his face, but Danny had a gut feeling that his eyes were blue.
Danny couldn’t believe his doppelgänger was the Red Hood. Worse yet, he also had a white streak in his hair.
Worse still, is that the Red Hood thinks that Danny is his clone.
And all Danny wanted was to run from the GIW.

Life's Great Lie 11
No beta we die like Coulson will not in this chapter.
AO3
.
“I can’t believe we left Tucker.  I can’t believe you left Tucker.  With nazis.”
“Sam, in case you didn’t notice, the nazis had a spaceship,” said Jazz, her voice shaking with stressed control.  “I don’t think Tucker would appreciate us getting killed by nazis with spaceships.  Nazis with spaceships that can become invisible, oh my gosh.”
“Can’t we become invisible?”
“Not really!”  Jazz’s hands flew over the control.  “We really just need to be somewhere else right now.”
The prisoner cleared his throat behind them.  “It’s not a spaceship, actually.  It’s a helicarrier.”
Sam and Jazz turned to glare at arrow boy.
“What does that mean?” asked Sam as Jazz went back to the controls.
“It’s like a aircraft carrier, but it flies.”
“Oh, yes, that’s a much less terrifying thing for nazis to have!  What a relief!”  Sam spread her hands wide.
“SHIELD also isn’t nazis.  Maybe if you told me why you think we’re, uh.”  He blinked hard and rolled his neck.  “Nazis.  As far as I know, SHIELD’s never even talked to you guys.”
“We know about your links to HYDRA,” said Sam.
“HYDRA?  HYDRA doesn’t exist anymore.”
“Groups like that never really go away,” said Sam.  “We haven’t even managed to get rid of people who openly call themselves nazis.”
“Seriously, they were wiped out by Captain America and the Howling Commandos.  Any of them that survived them were swept up and died ages ago.”
“Right,” said Jazz, slowly, tone at odds with what she was still doing with the controls.  “Captain America.”
“Yes, Captain America.”
“You ever meet him?”
“No,” said arrow boy.  “Does it matter?”
Jazz didn’t say anything.
“Does it mean anything?” asked Sam.
“Maybe,” said Jazz, “but I have to fly this thing right now.”
.
Tucker woke up with a groan and scrubbed vigorously at his face, as though that would help the combined headache and rubbed-raw-with-sandpaper feeling he was currently experiencing.  Rather, he tried.  His hands appeared to be strapped down.
He lay still, wracking his brain for which of Danny's enemies would bother knocking him out, kidnapping him, and tying him up.  Spectra, maybe?  Walker?  He had to have a sentence by now, even if he never stuck around long enough for Walker to read him his charges.
“Mr. Foley.”
That voice had not belonged to a ghost.  Tucker pried his eyes open.  “Wuh?” he managed to say.  A black-brown blur moved subtly against a grayish background.  Probably a person.
“Mr. Foley,” repeated a voice that emanated from the vicinity of the blur.  “I’m going to have to ask you how you moved several tons of Egyptian sand to a street in a small American town and turned several nearby buildings into sphinxes.”
“Don’t forget the lasers, sir,” said a second, paler, blur.  This blur sounded vaguely familiar, but Tucker couldn’t place it.
“Thank you, Agent Coulson.  We are also interested in the lasers.”
Tucker blinked several times.  Who was this clown?
Clown.  Wait.
Oh, no.  Oh, he didn’t.  He wouldn’t.
He did.  He’d used that stupid scepter and then lost it.
At least it explained why he felt like he’d been sandpapered.
Hold up – ‘agent?’  There was only one group that habitually operated in Amity Park and that was the GIW.  But the GIW wouldn’t be bothering with questions.  They’d jump straight to the painful experiments.
“Are you SHIELD?” asked Tucker, angry.  “I’m not telling you anything.”
The pale blob cleared its throat.  “According to our research, you haven’t had any prior interactions with SHIELD.  Why are you so hostile?”
Tucker’s eye twitched and he tugged his wrist against whatever was holding it down.  “Maybe it has something to do with you tying me up.”
“You did try to bite Mr. Stark the first time you woke up,” pointed out the pale blur.
“A common desire.  We won’t hold it against you.  So long as you explain why.”
He’d tried to bite Tony Stark?  Iron Man?  He bit his tongue before he could ask if he did it while Tony Stark was still wearing his suit.
“I’m not explaining anything to nazis who kidnapped my best friend!”  Okay, that last bit was maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but nazis didn’t deserve any grace, either.
(And the leftovers of whatever had knocked him out might be screwing with his judgment.  Or maybe it was the scepter!  Who knew!)
(Was this what taking drugs was like?  Was the scepter a drug?  Could he get addicted to it?)
“We aren’t nazis,” said the pale blur in a somewhat pained tone.
“And we didn’t kidnap your friend.  We had hired him as a consultant.”
“You were giving him money?” asked Tucker, skeptical.
The pause spoke volumes.
“Why do you think we’re nazis?”
“Uh, because you are.  I’m not an idiot.  I know what HYDRA is.  They’re talking to the Guys in White, and they’re talking to you, so you can’t be all that much better.”
(Something told Tucker that maybe he shouldn’t be saying quite as much as he was and he should just shut up, but the idea of being interrogated by nazis was terrifying.)
(He may have picked up some coping mechanisms from Danny.)
“That’s the second time I’ve heard the GIW mentioned today,” said the pale blur.  “The other time, it was from Miss Gray.”
“Government-backed ghost hunters, if I remember correctly.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Interesting.  And you say they’re talking about HYDRA?”
“As if you don’t know,” scoffed Tucker.
The pale blur took a couple of steps closer to Tucker.  “You’re a bit of a hacker, aren’t you?  Is that how you found this… supposed connection?”
Tucker turned his head away.
“Agent Coulson.”
The blurs moved to one side, and out a door that disappeared from Tucker’s sight as soon as it was closed.  Great.  Cool.  This was awesome.
He pulled against whatever was holding him down again.  There was some way to get out of stuff like this, right?
.
“I don’t like that we didn’t know about this GIW,” said Fury.
“Neither do I.  Sir, can I suggest we get Stark on this to confirm Foley’s claims?”
“We need him to track Loki.”
“I don’t believe it will take Stark that long to follow a trail a teenager laid.”
“I’ll remind you that this teenager was able to fight Loki head-on, and we don’t need another loose cannon.”
“Another reason to have him on side, although I’m not sure that translates to computer skills.  In any case, sir, given that he’s already finding the time to look into our other projects on his own time…”
Fury clasped his hands behind his back, thinking.
“Miss Gray and the Fentons have contributed to our tracking efforts as well.”
“Alright,” said Fury.  “Notify Stark and I’ll talk to Red Huntress about the GIW.  We need more detail.”
Coulson nodded.  “I’m sure Tony will be happy to meet a fan.  Well.”  He tilted his head.  “Re-meet them.”
.
Tony was not, in fact, happy.
“You know,” he said to Natasha, who had let him into the ‘observation room,’ “I get that the kid is scary, but did you have to tie him down?”
“He tried to bite you,” said Natasha.
Tony raised a finger.  “In his defense, I did knock him out.”  He sat down in front of the one-way mirror.  The room wasn’t very big.  Space was probably at a premium in this bucket.  It was huge, but it was also flying.  Airplane bathrooms were tiny for a reason.  The cell on the other side wasn’t all that large either.  Just big enough for the bed and a couple people to loom.
“Microphone?” he asked, pointing at a button.  That’s the one he’d use for that function, but, as evidenced by the whole situation, the people here were nuts.  And with Tony saying that, it meant something.  The button could release sleeping gas or fire missiles.
“Yes,” said Natasha.  “You don’t have to look so surprised.  It isn’t as if we’re going to put missile launchers in a holding cell.”
“And this makes it so he can see us?”
“It brings the lights up in the other room, yes.”
“Old fashioned for you guys, isn’t it?”
“Don’t fix what isn’t broken.”
“Hilarious,” said Tony.  “You can go, now.  Do your spy stuff.”
Natasha raised an eyebrow.  “You’re joking.”
“It was worth a shot.”  Tony shrugged.  He pressed the buttons.  “Hey, Tucker, right?”
“I’m not telling you people anything!”
“I can understand not being eager to talk to the goon squad, but it’s not like I work with them, either.  Between the two of us – don’t worry about the Russian in the corner – I was looking into them, too, but I haven’t found out much yet.”
“Yeah, that’s why I’m still tied up.  You’re so against SHIELD you’re okay with a babysitter.”
“Unfortunately, there’s more of them than there are of me, and we do have a crazy kidnapping alien to deal with.  But, hey, one tech wiz to one tech wizard, we can find out if HYDRA is really involved before too long.”
“Or you could be on their payroll.”
“Oh, come on.  I don’t need SHIELD’s money.”
“Oh yeah?” said Tucker, voice cracking.  “And who are you?”
“Wh—I’m Tony Stark.  You know, genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist?”
“I don’t know you’re Tony Stark.  You could be any white guy.”
“Any white guy?  I thought you were a fan, that’s what your—” Tony thought back to when he’d first seen Tucker Foley, on the ground in Amity Park.  Compared to the Egyptian stuff and the magic, it wasn’t so noticeable, but he’d been wearing glasses.  “You’re nearsighted, aren’t you?”
“Wow, it’s almost like your super awesome nazi information network isn’t as good as you think it is.”
Tony turned to look at Natasha.  “I don’t suppose you guys have some spare glasses?”
She sighed heavily, but pushed herself off the wall she was leaning on and left.  Which meant it was prime time to break into the holding cell.
It wasn’t hard.
“Okay, kid, I’m going to untie you, but you have to promise not to try to bite me.”
“No promises,” said Tucker.
“Fair enough.”  Tony started in on the straps.  They were simple, too.  Low tech.  Just padded leather and buckles.  Probably to keep people from hacking in and springing whoever was in them.
Tucker was sitting up in a moment, rubbing at his wrists.  “Okay, possibly Tony Stark, mind getting me out of this room for an encore?”
“Yeah, that wouldn’t help you much.”
“Why not?”
“We’re a few hundred feet up.”
“What?”
“Yeah, feel that low pressure?  Pop your ears?  Kinda dry air?  Inertia’s a bit weird?”
“Oh gosh, we’re on another airship.  No, wait.  We’re on that—That aircraft carrier thing?”
Tony raised his eyebrows.  “You know about it?”
“Glanced at plans for it while I was looking for Danny.”
“You really did hack SHIELD, huh?” said Tony.  “What kind of machine did you use?”
“Just my home computer.”
“Built it yourself?”
“With whatever I could scrounge up.  I don’t get much allowance.”
Impressive, if true; but he wouldn’t tell him if there was anything special if he was in Tucker’s position.  So.  He didn’t exactly believe it.
“No crazy ghost stuff?”
Tucker glared at him.
There was the sound of a speaker crackling to life.  “Stark.”
“Romanov.”
“What are you doing in the cell?”
.
As soon as she entered the room, Valerie Gray crossed her arms and planted her feet.  The red material of her suit flexed easily, reflecting circuit-board-like patterns where it caught the light.
“Miss Gray,” he said.  “I understand you’ve had contact with an organization called the GIW.”
“The Guys in White, yeah.”  She glanced around, the motion small, but not unnoticeable, although her face mask hid exactly what she was looking at.  “I mean, their official name is the Ghost Investigation Ward, but everyone calls them the Guys in White.  Easier than the acronym.”
“And what, exactly, do they do?”
“Mostly?  Cause property damage and threaten to audit people’s taxes.”
“But they’re ghost hunters.”
“Yeah.  I don’t think they’ve ever caught one, though.  They’re worse than the Fentons.  They almost killed this one kid, Elliot, because they thought he was a ghost.”
“Have they ever shown any evidence that they are part of the government, or government sanctioned?”
“I never looked into it,” said Gray.  “I had other things to deal with.  You guys have really never heard of them?”
“We have not, which is, as you might imagine, troubling.”
“I get that,” said Gray.  “But is this really the best time?  I mean… they’ll still be there when you get done with the aliens, right?”
If Fury was to answer honestly, the answer would be no.  If he were their leader, he’d be pulling them out of Amity Park, going to ground now that SHIELD’s attention had been drawn to the town they were… occupying?  Harassing?  Deceiving?
Exactly what they were doing didn’t matter so much as them having been able to do it without SHIELD noticing.  Especially given Foley’s assertion regarding HYDRA.
“There are a limited number of actions I can take until we manage to track down Loki.”
Gray twitched.  “Danny doesn’t always show up on ghost scanners.”
Which was truly unfortunate.  “I’m aware.  What kinds of resources have you seen the GIW using?”
.
Despite Natasha deciding to take forever to give the kid his glasses, which then stalled things further as he really hadn’t believed that Tony was Tony, and he was a fan.  Like, to an embarrassing degree.  Don’t get him wrong!  Tony loved having fans.  But there was a time and a place to ask for autographs.
Tony really wasn’t happy about him being up here.  Let alone the other kid.  The girl.  Speaking of which he really needed to talk to her about her tech, beyond the tracker, see if any of it could be incorporated in one of his suits on the fly.  But as good as he was at multitasking, Coulson had whisked Gray away to talk to Fury at the same time he sent Tony down here with his babysitter.
Anyway.
“So, show us the nazis,” said Tony, pushing a tablet at him.
It was immediately snatched away by Natasha.  “You are not giving the teenage hacker direct access to our systems.”
“You’re going to have to if you want me to show you.”
“Or you can just tell him.  It is my understanding that he’s passable at programming.”
“Passable?  Didn’t you make an AI when you were just—”
“There you go.  No need to butter his ego.  Just get it done.”  She gave the tablet back to Tony.
Tony made a face at her.  He’d wanted to see how Tucker worked.  “Fine.  Kid, give it to me.”
“Well, you’ll want to start with…”
.
“Wait, wait, wait,” said Tucker, half jogging after ‘Romanov’ and Tony Stark.  “You can’t just go tell this guy that there’s nazis everywhere.  This whole place is,” he lowered his voice, “riddled with nazis.  He could be a nazi.  What we need to do is leave.”
“Director Fury is not a nazi,” said Romanov.
“You don’t know that.  You saw some names of people you knew in those files, didn’t you?  But there were code names, too.  Literally anyone could be one of them.”
“Which is why we shouldn’t be having this conversation in the open.”
Romanov had only consented to bringing Tucker with them because Tony had pointed out that what he knew made him an assassination target.  Tucker very much not enthused about that particular factoid, especially the part where it made him feel even worse about leaving Jazz and Sam with arrow boy.
“Hey,” he whispered to Tony, “d’you think that maybe, just maybe, she’s taking us to him because she is also a nazi?”
“She’s not,” said Tony, who was apparently a bit of an idiot once he got away from his area of expertise, in which he was godlike.  “I’m at least eighty percent sure she would have just let me die that one time if she were a nazi, because I am staunchly anti-nazi, and also a superhero.  It’d be pretty dumb of them to save my life, don’t you think?”
“Maybe that’s just what they want you to think.”
“If I can hear you,” snapped Romanov, “so can other people.  Hurry up.”
They turned into a more populated hallway, and Romanov flashed a badge at a group of agents, who let her pass.  She pressed her hand against a palm reader next to the door, which opened, revealing a tall, one-eyed black man and… Valerie?
“What are you doing here?” asked Tucker.  But of course Valerie was here.  She already had a track record of trusting really, incredibly sketchy people.  Why not extend it?
“I’m trying to fix the problem your friend caused,” snapped Valerie.
“You dated him,” said Tucker.
Valerie stiffened.  “And you made the problem worse.  Do you have any idea what Park and Amity look like now?”
“Which Park and which Amity?” Tucker responded automatically.
“Okay,” said Tony, “whatever schoolyard tiff or middle school drama you two have going on right now can wait.  We’ve got a massive problem.”
.
Fury could admit that he’d expected, had wanted, Foley to be wrong about SHIELD being infiltrated by a group calling themselves HYDRA.
But the evidence was extensive and damning.  HYDRA was in SHIELD.  In some places, it practically was SHIELD.  And it was all discovered by a teenager via a built-in backdoor used by an organization Fury had never heard of before today.
They couldn’t afford to act on it now.  Not with an alien invasion breathing down their necks.  They couldn’t afford not to act on it.  Not when Tucker Foley wouldn’t cooperate if they didn’t.  Hell, neither would any of the rest of the heroes he’d recruited.
Something burned in his gut.  SHIELD was supposed to be a shield for the world, not for a bunch of lunatics who were still fighting World War II and committing atrocities that civilized society didn’t even have names for.  This was his life’s work, and it was all a lie.
But he had to put aside his anger and his grief.  There was work to be done.
“Did you really not know?” asked Foley.
“No,” said Fury.
“What are you going to do about it?”
“He’s not going to do anything about it,” said Stark, flat and dry.  “He’s got a potential alien army bearing down.  He’s not going to split focus.  That right?”
“What?” exclaimed Foley, leaning forward.  “But that’s crazy.  These are people doing real damage right now.  You don’t know what the GIW’s been doing to Amity Park, and they’re the incompetent ones!”
“I’m aware.  But at the moment, Loki is an existential threat for humanity as a whole, not just—”
“HYDRA is also an existential threat for humanity.”  Foley clenched his fists.  “Look, just give me back my staff, and I’ll take care of Loki for you.  Then you don’t have to worry about it.”
“You weren’t exactly winning before,” said Natasha.
“I was doing better than you.”
“And your behavior has changed.  The way you speak, the way you hold yourself… it’s different.  That staff doesn’t just give you power, does it?  It changes you somehow.”
Foley fidgeted.  “You’ve got Dr. Bruce Banner with you.  It’s not like you’re against that kind of thing in principle.”
“No, but we need to know we’re not just replacing one threat with another.  Can you honestly say you won’t become one?”
“I can honestly say I will if you ignore the GIW and HYDRA!”
“Mr. Foley.  Without knowing exactly who is and who is not a HYDRA agent, all I would be doing would be starting a bloody civil war that would, potentially, kill everyone on this plane in the crossfire.  Do you want that?”
“No,” said Foley, “but I’m not working with HYDRA.  You can’t expect Captain America to work with HYDRA.”
“No,” agreed Fury.  “Having you directly involved with any but the most vetted of agents would be a mistake.”  Foley would be far too easy to assassinate or disappear.  “That’s why I’m sending you away.  That’s why I’m sending all of you away.”
“I’m sorry, what?” said Stark, rising to his feet.  “You can’t bring us here, say the world’s under attack by aliens, ghosts exist, and, oh, yeah, we have a HYDRA infestation, then tell us to leave.”
“Will you calm down and listen to me?” asked Fury, fixing Stark with a look.  “I’m sending you away.  As a group.  Foley, I’m assuming you have some way to get in touch with whoever is piloting that blimp.”
“Yeah?”
“Fentonworks’ technologies are going to be better at tracking Fenton’s energy signature than whatever you and Dr. Banner jury-rigged out of Miss Gray’s suit, and if not, you can fix it.  You’re bound to be able to adapt the rest of them into something useful for combat.  Captain Rogers has experience leading small groups against covert and secretive operations and fortifications.  Thor, as far as I can tell, has worked almost solely with small-group tactics, and knows his brother and Dr. Selvig.  Natasha knows Barton, and given how competent he is, I’d bet my good eye that Loki has him working as his right hand.”  Much like Fury occasionally did… although he used Coulson for that purpose far more often.
“Hopefully I know Barton better than Thor knows Loki.”
“Unless Loki actually brings his army through, you should, in theory, be a match for him, whoever he has brainwashed, and whatever mercenaries he’s managed to contact.”
“And if he does manage to bring his army through?” asked Stark.  “Just saying, we haven’t done the best job at stopping it so far.”
“Then you call me.”
Foley cleared his throat.  “Uh, about this Barton.  He wouldn’t happen to really have a thing for arrows, would he?”

Cain and Abel Wept 4/?
Prev | Next
Not gonna lie, I'm not too proud of this chapter, but I needed a way to transition. I will say, the repealing of the Anti-ecto laws is going to be more background. I want to mostly focus on the emotional and angst/comfort. So, while the rest of the fic is gonna have the Justice League trying to destroy the GIW, I'm also going to mostly focus on the families getting to know each other. Don't except a quick fix between Damian and Danny. I will say, Jason and Danny being besties is one of my fave tropes so that's gonna happen here
Jason would be the first one to admit he came back wrong.
(As if coming back from the dead was ever right.)
He was more violent, easier to anger, and he swore that sometimes he felt invisible eyes on him even if he couldn’t truly see anything.
(They looked like afterimages, smoke in the wind as it disappeared.)
Jason knew deep down that Danny wasn’t lying.
Lazarus green eyes stared at them; the room chilled enough that, had he not been wearing the helmet, Jason would be able to see his breath. The lights flickered, and he swore Danny’s shadow turned into something monstrous for half a second.
Something deep in Jason’s chest called out to whatever Danny was signaling. Danny looked at Jason with knowing eyes.
“You and I are similar, revenant.”
Every other member of Jason’s family fell to their knees or covered their ears in pain. The Fenton’s had different reactions.
While the two parents flinched, the daughter’s, Jasmine, eyes glowed. She didn’t seem perturbed by the sounds her brother was making. Sounds whose meanings Jason couldn’t understand with his ears but from somewhere deep in his chest.
“Only the dead can understand this language. Or those like us, those who have died and come back. That’s why you can understand me, revenant.”
Jason was never gladder for his helmet than he was now, “he’s telling the truth. He’s dead, or at least he’s like me.”
Batman frowned.
“Akhi, did you die when I—when…?”
Danny shook his head, “No, it was close, but no. Mother always had someone following us, it seemed. He bandaged me up and then called mother. She faked my death and said I could never return to the League as I would be sentenced to death as a traitor.”
Damian took a deep, rattling breath. Jason had never seen the kid cry so much as he had today.
“No, I died in an accident. Only it didn’t kill me the whole way. I’m Schrodinger’s boy. Half dead, half alive. Half human,” a bright light suddenly blinded them, “half ghost.”
“How,” Bruce asked (not Batman, Bruce), “how did you die?”
Impossibly the room got colder. Frost started appearing on the windows, and Jason felt like a predator had targeted him.
“Never ask a ghost how they died,” Danny said in a deadly tone.
Both Fenton parents stepped in front of Danny on the defensive.
“It’s rude to ask how a ghost died,” the mother answered.
“It’s traumatic and can cause a ghost emotional damage. Please refrain from asking that; if Danny brings it up later, that’s up to him,” the father said in a low voice.
The older sister put her arms around her trembling younger brother.
Jason couldn’t help but feel like shit. Jason wanted to go up to the boy and protect him from Bruce, from anyone who would harm him physically or emotionally. Jason felt the familiar twinge of green forming around his vision.
They threaten your King; eliminate them!
“Peace, revenant. Thank you for wanting to defend me, but there’s no danger here yet.”
Jason calmed at the kid’s words (sounds?). He saw his family (minus Bruce and Damian) looking at Jason with worry in their gazes.
He shook his head at Dick’s silent question. Jason didn’t know what had come over him. Jason looked at Danny; he only knew the kid was important to him (to the dead).
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend,” Bruce said, “But why would you think we were going to arrest you?”
Maddie and Jack reluctantly let Danny go in front of them. They kept a hand on each of Danny’s shoulders, and both elder Fenton had the other hand hovering over their suits, no doubt to weapons only they knew about.
“You’re part of the Justice League, aren’t you? Hell, not just a part of it, a founder. And the Justice League upholds the law no matter what,” Danny said bitterly, “My very existence is against the United States of America laws. I’m an ecto-entity. Under the Anti-Ecto Acts, I’m neither sentient nor sapient, which means I have no rights. I can be captured and experimented on without prejudice.”
Danny looked straight at Jason, and Jason felt a chill over him (someone walking over my grave), “So can you, by the way. You’re lucky they haven’t found you. It could be because you’re in Gotham, but,” Danny shrugged.
“We would never do that,” Damian yelled out, his arm waved in a single cutting motion to punctuate his point, “Justice doesn’t always mean abiding by the law. Father was a vigilante before there were laws protecting what he did! Why would you think we would turn you over to be experimented on?”
Danny looked at Damian with sad eyes, “I never thought my younger brother would stab me, yet, that came to be, didn’t it, Dami?”
Damian looked as if someone had stabbed him in the chest.
Jasmine got in front of Danny, “It’s like Danny said earlier: what else were we to think when we saw all of you, who are affiliated with the Justice League, coming after us like you would you’re, what are they called, rogue gallery?”
“I apologize for that,” Bruce said remorsefully, “I saw you were leaving. I had just found out another son had been hidden from me,” Bruce’s voice broke. “I didn’t think; I reacted. We reacted. I didn’t want to risk losing you again. Not when I just found out about your existence.”
Bruce stepped forward; the small family in front of them stepped back. Bruce stilled completely.
“Listen, we all fucked up, not just B,” Dick said, trying to do damage control, “We aren’t going to turn you in to any government branch; you aren’t criminals. We—we just wanted to get to know our newest family member.”
Danny looked straight at Dick, “The Fentons are my family.”
Dick smiled, “You can have more than one family. Besides, the more, the merrier! You don’t have to be buddy-buddy with us right away. But we do want to help. How about we start with these Anti-Ecto Act laws.”
Dick sat down, his body language open, his smile a bit feral, “So tell us. What exactly are they?”
____
Against his parents’ better judgment, Danny decided to trust his bio family, at least with the help of the repeal of the Anti-Ecto Act laws.
As soon as Bruce and the rest of the Batfamily (?) found out about the laws, they set up an emergency meeting with the Justice League to repeal them.
Danny didn’t trust them enough to stay in the same city as them, let alone the same living area.
“Akhi, please, we can protect you in Gotham. We can help you and,” Damian swallowed nervously, “and I missed you,” he confessed.
Danny wanted to tell Damian, ‘no, you don’t get to play that card. You had your chance, and you blew it. You almost killed me…You betrayed me.’
Looking at his brother’s red-rimmed eyes and semi-hopeful stare, Danny couldn’t.
Damian had been a kid.
So was I; it’s not fair!
Danny turned to his small family, “It’s up to you, sport. We’ll do whatever you want.”
“Little brother, it’s about being together and being safe. Whatever you want.”
What did Danny want?
Once upon a time, he wanted to be a normal child. He wanted to play with his little brother without fear. Danny wanted not to have to kill.
Now, he just wanted to survive.
Europe would’ve been the best option. Staying in the US was suicide. Danny knew the GIW wouldn’t go silently even if the Justice League started repealing. He also knew that the best way to make the laws disappear was if he helped Batman and the Justice League however he could.
You can do that from Europe.
Danny bit his lip. He wanted to be safe; he wanted to be selfish.
“We’ll stay in Gotham, but I refuse to go to your place.”
“That’s fine,” Damian quickly assured him, “right, father?”
Batman nodded, “Yes, I have a penthouse in the city you can stay. You can stay in this safehouse if you’d like. I’d have to stock it up. We could even find a way to set you up in school.”
“No!” All the Fentons yelled.
The other family was surprised at the vehement denial.
“We’re sorry,” Maddie apologized, “A government organization is hunting Danny. If we try to enroll him, they’ll find him quickly. It’s best if we lay low.”
“Yes, of course, we will deal with that, I promise.”
Batman turned to Danny, “If there’s anything you need, anything at all,” he took out a card and a cell phone, “call me.”
Danny nodded.
“I think we should stay here,” his mom said, “since we’re staying in Gotham, I’d rather be a bit far away from the city, if possible.”
“Of course. If you want, we can talk while the children get to know each other.”
Danny looked at the merry band of furries; sure, children.
Except for Red Robin and Damian, everyone else seemed to be an adult.
Danny’s eyes went back to the revenant. He really should talk to the guy one on one. Let him know what’s going on and maybe cure that disgusting contaminated ectoplasm.
Danny’s parents’ left with Batman, but Jazz stayed behind with Danny.
Nightwing smiled from where he sat, and Damian fidgeted. The rest of them didn’t seem to know what to do with themselves.
Let the awkwardness begin.
