Rereading this and it occurs to me that it really feels like Danny keeps wanting to kiss Jason and is having to use what few brain cells he has still awake to remind himself he can't do that yet. It's adorable.
Didn't write the rest of this scene I've shared bits of or anything.
WC: 913, Masterpost Sometime after Danny meets Red Hood, before he plots.
Jason actually stopped on the stairs when he saw Danny. He was going down and Danny coming up, but the sight made Jason freeze rather than just stepping to the side like he normally would. Danny looked beyond exhausted. His usually perky hair was limp, the bags under his eyes were impressively dark, and he tripped over every step. Jason was half worried that while he had been away, Danny had gotten turned into a zombie.
Considering it was Gotham and the city already had Grundy (and Jason himself), it was a disturbingly valid concern.
“Midterms,” Danny mumbled several long moments after he had caught sight of Jason standing on the next landing up.
Okay, midterms made sense too.
(Nice not to have to clean up a zombie outbreak as soon as he was back in town.)
“Just starting, in the middle of, or over?”
“Over, thank the Ancients. Last paper turned in,” Danny said with a dramatic motion that made him wobble dangerously against the railing. Jason closed the gap between them nervously. “I’m gonna go… go… what’s the word?”
“Eat? Shower? Sleep?”
“That!” Danny snapped his fingers. “All of that. In some order, I guess.”
Jason reached out and gently took Danny’s arm. “Okay, Tuesday, I don’t know if I trust you not to slip in the shower and smash your pretty face in right now.”
“You think my face is pretty?”
Ignoring his blush, Jason moved past that fact quickly. “So how about you come up to my place. You can shower while I make you a snack and then you can lay down for a nap. When you wake up, I’ll have dinner ready.”
“Mm, dinner. I like dinner. I miss dinner,” Danny said dreamily.
Jason decided just to get them moving up the stairs. “When’s the last time you ate something more than granola bars and soup, Danny?”
“What day is it? Wait! I know this. Physics. T-R. Thursday!” Danny said. He was clearly very proud of himself.
“Food, Tuesday.”
“Yes please.”
Holding back a sigh, Jason carefully directed Danny up the stairs to the top floor. His things wouldn’t exactly fit Danny, but he was loathe to let the other out of his sight right then. He’d just make sure to grab sweats that had a drawstring on them. After Danny was asleep, he could make a quick run to the store to get some fresh things for dinner.
It was a bit of a juggle to keep a watchful arm around Danny and get his door unlocked and then relocked, but Jason managed before guiding Danny through the bedroom to the full bathroom.
“Stay.”
“Yes sir,” Danny quipped, words interrupted by the large yawn he took.
Once Jason was sure Danny would stay standing he pulled away to go dig out some clothing and a fresh towel, only to turn around and run into the dresser himself like he was the one sleep deprived. It was just that, well, Danny had started to strip and was already down to his boxers. It was a lot of skin on display and Jason couldn’t help but watch the play of freckles and scars across the shoulder blades.
That was… there were actually a concerning number of scars, for a civilian.
And the type of scars… a lot of those looked like burns and electrical scars. Several puncture wounds too. What was Danny getting into? Jason gripped tightened on the clothing in his hands. They needed to step up training.
“Clothing!” Danny cooed sleepily.
Jason shook himself out of his thoughts and delivered the clothing into Danny’s grabbing hands. “Be careful in the shower. I’ll be outside the door in case you fall.”
“I’m fine,” Danny said. “I’m not even bleeding!”
That really wasn’t reassuring.
“Still, be careful, Tuesday,” Jason said, making a quick exit as Danny started to pull down his boxers. He didn’t want Danny to remember all this after some food and sleep and feel like Jason had invaded his privacy or anything.
While the shower ran, Jason considered just what he could do for the snack. He thought he had some waffles he froze and he had to have some breakfast links in the freezer too, so pigs in blankets would be easy. No fresh fruit, but he had froze so a smoothie for vitamins and fluids. He might add some powdered mix to it also. Then he could tuck Danny in for a nap before he ran a quick trip to the grocery. A soup and some fresh bread would be nice and easy to keep warm for as long as Danny slept.
The shower shut off, Jason tried not to worry about the sounds of bumbling about, and then the door opened with a whoosh.
“Ta-da! I am still mostly alive!” Danny said triumphantly.
“I’m proud of you, Tuesday, a real accomplishment there.”
“Do I get a reward?” Danny asked, a hint of that feral smile that Jason had seen as Red Hood playing across his lips.
Jason cleared his throat. “Sure, you in a blanket, pigs in a blanket, and a smoothie.”
Danny hummed before nodding. “Deal.”
“So glad you agree,” Jason drawled as he deposited Danny on the couch and draped a red throw blanket around his shoulders. Jason leaned in a little to catch Danny’s eyes. “Now, stay.”
Danny wavered for a moment, leaning forward close enough to touch before he just slumped back into the couch with a wide yawn. “’Kay.”

Danny wakes up from his nap and Ellie immediately teaches him the whole 2 words she learned. Danny isn't quite as ready as Ellie to start talking yet, but he'll quietly repeat after her just a couple times to make her giggle.
Also, while they share many powers, there should be at least some that are individual. For example, at some point after the duplication fiasco, Roy gets new grey hairs watching Ellie melt into goop like the duplicates did. She reforms shortly after, giggling away at having escaped the custom made phase-proof play pen while Danny is still pouting inside of it. But that doesn't make the initial moment of watching it happen any less terrifying.
Danny gets deaged to a baby. Dani gets deaged to a baby. They look like identical twins.
They're alone in a weird offshoot GIW lab, and don't have a 100% grasp on their powers. When they get rescued, this does nothing to make them feel safe or calm, and they express it in the only way a baby can.
They scream and cry nonstop, sometimes dipping into ghostly wails.
Insert Roy Harper, a new-ish dad to a two year old who happens to be acquainted with someone who can also use her voice as a weapon.
Now Roy has Lian, a set of super-powered twin babies, and a government agency that wants to dissect them breathing down his neck.
So he turns to Oliver, who was...definitely not expecting a sleep deprived Roy with a trio of sleeping kids sitting on his bed, wild eyed and bleeding stress.

I'm imagining in this scenario, Danny eating the Pit Rage is a bit like a kid eating a cookie they found under the couch that has been there for who knows how long. It's old, stale, dirty, maybe even moldy; and if Danny were 14 he never would have even considered putting it in his mouth. But alas Danny is not 14 here. He's 5. The black stuff (the metaphorical dirt, dust, and pathogens) contaminating the ecto doesn't even register. All he's seeing is the tasty ecto (the metaphorical cookie).
Obviously everyone immediately tries to get him to "Spit it out, spit it out, please Danny, that stuff cannot possibly be good for you!" Even if Tim at this point knows about ectoplasm, he probably realizes that if the Lazarus Waters are ecto, it's not clean ecto. Not good. Not healthy. So he's just as fervored as everyone else trying to stop what's happening. But too late.
Jason, as helpful and cooperative as ever, has decided to pass out on the floor instead of doing anything to stop this. Tim hopes he landed on a lego. (That's vicious and petty and not at all fair to Jason in this situation, but FUCK, Tim thought he was finally past Danny just casually giving him heart attacks from all this inter-dimensional baby weirdness crap.)
No one expected Tim to be the first of rhe batkids to adopt a child. Especially Tim Drake-Wayne himself. But what else was he supposed to do when the strange glowing ferret-worm thing eating his Death wish coffee grounds turned into a confused, and now hyper, five year old boy?
Well he did after he was done freaking out over a meta child eating Death Wish Coffee grounds.

I'm not saying it wouldn't take ages and I'm not saying there wouldn't be casualties, but as long as the Pokémon can hit hard and fast and then fall back to recoup, they can absolutely slowly but surely whittle down the lions.
Just think about it. What is a hoard of lions feasibly gonna do to fuckin Ho-oh or Mewtwo or even just Charizard?
Who would win
- 1 billion lions
- 1 of every pokémon
- okay, listen, there's nuance here (other)

Desiree dropped Danny into Batman's body and made it so that Danny can't leave.
Is Bruce is there and unconscious like normal overshadowing?
Is he there and conscious but not in control? So now Danny has Batman in his ear with a running commentary and interrogation and intimidation tactics and Danny has to try to convince Batman to help him find Desiree to undo this, and not get caught at least until he can fix this and also, 'Please, Ancients, Batman help me not fuck something up. Please, I don't want anyone to get hurt because I don't know what I'm doing.'
Or perhaps Desiree went for a full Body Swap a la Pointdexter. So while Danny is stumbling around as Batman trying to hunt down Desiree and not get caught and also not get anyone hurt or killed because he's suddenly been thrust into a position he does not know how to fill; Bruce is in Danny's body learning an awful lot of not good things and trying very hard to get a handle on everything and figure out how to undo whatever has happened without getting this young hero caught or exposed.
Danny made a wish. A stupid wish really. One that he'll undo the minute he tracks down Desiree. Until then though, he's the leader of the Justice League.

Imagine that while Tim and Dick are clocking Sam and Danny as at the least adjacent to the life (sidekicks maybe?), Sam is drawing similar conclusions about the Wayne boys. Danny may (or may not - dealer's choice) be too Fenton to realize it, but Sam at least has picked up on the fact that the Wayne's are definitely above civilian skill levels. Especially for rich socialite nepo babies. Even for Gotham, there's no way this level of stealth skill and situational awareness is normal. Maybe there's actually something to Wes's 'Bruce Wayne is Batman' theory.
Danny, at a gala as Sam’s plus one to fuck with her parents: *on the phone* Where are you Sam?! This place is fancy and I don’t know which fork to kill myself with!
Tim, also at the buffet table and was chugging coffee he snuck in from home like water:

The Drunken Haunting of Wayne Manor
Or Danny accidentally gets drunk/high and haunts the cute boy from school
Maybe it’s some kind of ghostly plant, some weird substance, maybe he decided to filter out some Lazarus juice from Jason, maybe he got bitten by a snakelike ghost the the venom is doing weird things to him
The result is Danny is fucked uuuup and decides visiting the cute boy from School is a good idea
Tim “cute boy from school” Drake is stuck at the Manor hobbling around in a knee brace after a bad landing. He’s supposed to be resting but there’s work to be done, but then he notices it. Things moved when he isn’t looking, the sound of giggling somewhere in the Manor. Dark shadows in the corner of his vision despite nothing showing up on the cameras. He’d think it was one of his siblings but he and Alfred are the only ones home and Alfred is in the cave. None of the alarms have been set off and it’s driving him crazy trying to find the source
So Danny accidentally haunts Tim for the night and wakes up the next day wondering why he’s cuddling a cow

now under the assumption that he’s a full ghost, he wanders the streets and meets gotham’s vigilantes. they get closer and eventually danny getting moved into the manor to get him off the streets is brought up.
they explain that they don’t want to see him dead on the streets from some rogue attack.
danny is forced to face his inner turmoil about hanging out with the vigilantes, because they see him as family, someone worth protecting even.
how is he supposed to tell them that they’ve never seen him alive in the first place?

…. More dp x dc because brain rot
So Danny ends up homeless in Gotham after a revival to his parents gone wrong and is trying his best to stay out of the bats way. Unfortunately the kid has the worst luck and an even worst hero complex so when he stumbles across a mugging he can’t help but jump in.
It’s only after he K.O.ed the mugger that he looking up and saw the civilian he saved looking at him and in a split second of panic just faded from visibility. I mean who’s gonna believe the guy if he says his rescuer just fu/king upped and vanished.
It worked out tho. So much in fact that when Danny once again found himself jumping in to trouble before he can think he just decides to disappear after.
This happens so much that people start to take notice and the conclusion they come to? A ghost. More specifically a 13-14 y/o ghost with black hair and blue eyes. More specifically the ghost of the black haired, blue eyed, Wayne kid that died when he was 13.
Yep! Gotham comes to the conclusion that Jason Todd has come back as a ghost to protect the streets of Gotham!!
Now obviously this gets to Bruce who knows this isn’t the case because Jason is over in crime alleys right now hopefully not going on a murder spree again so he’s gotta find out who this is and preferably before Jason hears about this.

DPxDC Prompt where the Fentons make national headlines following a… particularly bad accident with the GAV.
No one was hurt, thankfully, but, well… Jack did run over the gate leading up to Wayne Manor, before barreling the vehicle straight into the foyer of the mansion.
No one is particularly happy about this, least of all considering that their two kids were in the vehicle.

Seems to be the give and take in the fandom DPxDC has built, where prompts and Round Robins are the norm so we sometimes forget that not every piece of writing is an open invitation to add more.
Gonna have to start sticking "this is part of an ongoing fic, sub thread is here" on the end of everything again, eh?

It's not like Dick hadn't planned on telling his family. Of course not. Proper precautions and all. He needed a minder tonight in case the case of mild possession turns into something worse.
He just hadn't planned on telling all of them at once and tonight. He didn't want to sic the whole Batclan at once on both himself and the kid. He had hoped to just get one of his siblings to be his minder, feign illness or something and get Jason or Cass to hang with him; then get some answers from the kid in the morning.
And then, if it turned out to be a big deal, get the others involved. After he'd been able to do his own assessment and could confidently curb the worst of the Bat paranoia. This? The sudden scrutiny of all the Bats, that look on Tim's face that said he was already running calculations and forming plans; this was just cruel. Dick was calling betrayal. Betrayal from Duke, his dearest newest brother. Betrayal!
Danny was tired, like 'I feel it in my bones and soul' tired. And he didn't want sleep at home because there's only so many nights, he could spend lying awake making sure his heart was beating in case his parents checked on him.
Currently he was flying aimlessly not really taking in his surroundings, but he could neither sleep while flying or fly forever. Normally he'd sleep over at Sam or Tucker's, but the Mansons had made it clear that he wasn't welcome at their house anymore and Tucker was grounded. Both would sneak him in if he asked, but he didn't want them to get in trouble for him. Which leads him to decide between his two choices, sleeping in a graveyard, or sleeping in a forest.
The graveyard was a little crowded with all the ghosts that called it home but he could probably find a quiet spot to sleep. The forest had a great view of the stars but was filled with traps from both his parents and the GIW after tracking his ecto-signature. Both options weren't appealing, but he wasn't about to chance sleeping on the roof of his house again. There were too many ghost detecting guns attached to it now. Danny sighed, graveyard it was, at least the ecto from all the shades/ghosts would hide him well enough. Decision made, now all he had to do was make his way over there. But first, where the heck was he? Danny looked around at the unfamiliar grey sky and gargoyles littered around and realized he had no clue where he was. He must have flown too far away from Amity without noticing...Again. It was really becoming a bad habit. Danny stared down at the city's inhabitants that were going home or heading to nightshifts or whatever and dreaded the long flight back to his town. And maybe it was ghost instinct, or maybe it was just his exhaustion. But his brain suggested 'What if I just possess someone?' And to him that seemed like a perfectly logical train of thought. He wouldn't control their body or anything, just sleep in their skin...That did not make it sound better at all. Before he could think twice, someone left a general store, arms filled with stuff and somehow projecting an aura of safety. The two thoughts of 'They look comfy' and 'screw it' clashed together in his head as he made the very stupid decision of performing a swan drive right into the someone. "WHAT THE-" "Don't worry, I'll be gone by morning I just need to sleep" Danny cut off the persons freakout-he should really get their name at some point- he would have explained more but the sleep gods had already done their job. This left one very confused, scared, and freaked out Batkid.

Dick was... Well, he wasn't happy about being maybe mildly possessed while picking up snacks for sibling night. But the voice in his mind had sounded so young. Damian's age or maybe even younger. And so so tired. Exhausted even.
And not just sleepy exhausted. That was there too, of course. But underlying the sleepy exhausted was the kind of exhaustion Dick was painfully familiar with. The kind that sleep never cures. That comes from seeing some of the worst the world has to offer. And from giving your all trying to hold the world together as it actively tries to self destruct. The kind of exhaustion that echoed with grief and resignation.
And hearing a voice that young sound that exhausted; supposedly just looking for somewhere to sleep and for some reason inside another person seemed the safest option to them...
Of course, Dick wasn't a fool. He was Nightwing. Robin the First. Trained by the Big Bat himself. Obviously he'd be doing his due diligence to ensure this wasn't some kind of trick. But if it really is just a tired kid looking for a safe night's sleep, Dick isn't going to get all up in arms about it. He'd take all the necessary precautions for the night, which would unfortunately mean cancelling sibling night, and then he'd wait patiently for the kid to wake up so he could get some answers.
.
Future plot point idea I couldn't figure out how to work into the above snippet: If Danny can project thoughts into Dick's conscious mind, who's to say the same won't happen if Danny dreams? Especially if that dream is a nightmare about ghosts and ghost hunters ghost hating parents. And Danny instinctually tries to reach out and seek comfort as it happens, inadvertently giving Dick a front row seat to all his worst fears.
