Self-Love Mini Spell

You will need:

Mirror

Rose quartz

Pink candle

Self-love doesn’t come very easily to some of us. But loving yourself is the stepping stone to a successful relationship. It motivates us to practice positive behavior. Self-love is not falling into self-hatred or shame when we mess up. If you are doubting yourself and need a little self-love boost, try this little spell daily until you truly love yourself inside and out.

Light your pink candle and hold the rose quartz in your dominant hand. Say out loud while looking in the mirror:

“I love myself fully and unconditionally. I treat myself with love and respect. I make positive choices for myself. As I will it so mote it be.”

Focus on how you feel and will feel when you obtain self-love. Imagine all the positive choices that lie ahead and picture yourself choosing happiness and positivity. When you are done, blow out your candle.

Spell For Home Stability

You’ll Need:

One stone to represent each member of the household

A brown candle

A blue marker

Home life can be a challenge, especially if you're raising a family, working, going to school, and so on. Throw in big changes, like the birth of a new baby, a loose, or a shift in your relationship status, and things get disrupted in a hurry. Do this spell to bring a bit of stability back into your life.

Light the candle, and say “The world turns onward, on the sun rises and sets. Changes happen, and light becomes unsettled.”

Write the name of each family member on his or her stone, and place the stones in front of the candle. Say “We are family and we are strong. Our love will see us through. Stability and permanence will come into our lives. We will make it through, and we will persevere through the storm.”

Extinguish the candle, and place the stones in the room and was the most time together.

An important thing for modern readers just now following Dracula and his pals... back when the novel was written, hypnosis was a brand new, state of the art medical treatment. It was considered to be an amazing new thing that would revolutionize all fields of medicine once we learnt all about it. It's not apparent to us today, specially since we associate hypnosis more with grifters and stage magicians, but this is another instance of using high tech to combat supernatural evils.

An interesting thing is how the modern treatments shown in the novel kind of mirror the supernatural powers... Dracula's evil bloodsucking removes the life energy of a young lady, but our blood transfusions move it right back in. Dracula can force anyone to become subservient to his mind, but hypnosis allows Mina, who should be his thrall, to peer into his senses.

Anyway I also think it's funny that he ran away shouting 'you'll regret this, you whippersnappers!' then proceeded to skeedaddle out of the country

Daily Spell: August 13th

Home Stability Spell

You’ll Need:

Sea salt

Dried lavender, basil, and sage

A broom, a bucket of water, and a mop

Ask summer begins to wind down, it's a good time to start thinking about matters of protection magic and of the stability of the home. Do this working as part of your routine cleaning, if there's been disharmony lately, or if you feel like your home needs an added layer of metaphysical security.

Sprinkle the salt on the floor where you're about to clean, and then sweep it out the door, as you do say “Sweep away unhappiness, purify this home, sweep away the negativity, protect this happy home.”

Add the herbs to the bucket of water, and use it to mop the floors, saying “Wash away unhappiness, purified this home, wash away the negative, protect this happy home.” Once you're done take the dirty mop water outside, to the edge of your property, and pour it into a ditch or a storm so it can be carried away.

There are times for righteous anger, but sometimes anger is unfounded or its time has passed. Lingering anger can be banished with this spell, which requires :

A bowl

A glass of water

Ten matches.

Pour half the water into the bowl before you, then hold a match.

Get in touch with your anger. Remember what stoked this emotion. When you really feel the anger, strike the match and watch it burn, bright and hot.

Drop it into the bowl before it burns your fingers. Repeat this with the other nine matches, calling your anger to the surface and dropping the match.

When you're done, look at the spent matches before you. See how much energy was spent on this anger and what a waste it was. Those matches could have been used for other projects like lighting ritual candles or celebratory bonfires.

Drink the water in the glass. Visualizing it instilling peace and love where anger once resided.

One little detail that sends Jonathan reeling but is easy to overlook is how Dracula opens the front door without a key. Jonathan’s been taking potentially fatal risks to try to get through those locked doors, and it’s the only thing keeping him from just fleeing into the forest and taking his chances there.

Then lo and behold! All he has to do is ask, and the door was never locked at all! Why would I need to lock you in, friend Jonathan? I’d never dream of keeping you here against your will, you could have left at any time!

Of course, Jonathan had examined the doors before and knew they were locked. It’s a massive gutpunch of gaslighting that seems to hit harder than all of Dracula’s other manipulations. Meanwhile, I’m pretty sure that Dracula just unlocked the door at a touch, just so he could twist the knife deeper.
