self-para \ be with you. where: dae-eun's apartment when: soon after this plot drop, near the beginning of s2. mentions: @brxxksazars @sita-abbrams @deanhadwin (yep even him) @aranyasaeli @jieunparks @selintemel he also mentions all of the deceased again but i’m not tagging you all <3 love you though trigger warnings: mentions of death, murder, blood, & police. really long post.
a cold wind blows in my frozen heart when I lean on a small candle and hold back my tears everything in this world hurts so much by your side.
Selin. The woman he'd loved—still did. Always would. Somewhere, deep down, he'd hoped she had as well. Not that he would ever know that now.
He misses their early days. Lazy mornings with cups of coffee, late-night conversations about anything and everything, playful arguments between two of the most stubborn people he'd ever known—yes, including himself. But that had all vanished the moment she'd gone to her father.
He still remembered the look on his face when she'd handed him the divorce papers: complete confusion. The way he'd felt when he found out she'd left—vanished, actually, gone without a trace. The long nights spent in an empty house, with nothing but the whirring of his laptop fan filling the rooms as he scoured news reports and local conversations for any sign of her, fearing the worst when he could find nothing.
Then he'd found one. By some miracle, he'd stumbled across a tweet from someone in the town about something—he couldn't remember. He didn't even remember who it was at this point—not that it really mattered, Selin had made her fair share of friends and enemies when moving here.
The decision wasn't a hard one: stay in an empty house or relocate temporarily to Nightrest. He'd left that weekend, unable to stay in the house any longer. He'd let his sister stay there instead. (And she could keep it now, for all he cared.)
His shock when finding out how the other woman was acting here. Sure, her attitude made slight sense towards him, but not towards others. His pure horror when she'd outed them in the public group chat—not to mention the feeling of betrayal. Of anyone he'd ever met, he knew that she understood what it felt like to have details you didn't want to be shared given out to the general public. She'd done the same thing that had been done to her to him.
And yet, he still forgave her, because of course, he did—just like he had with so many things. He forgave her for everything. For outing them, for running, for the divorce.
And now, she is gone, and he can never tell her those things in person.
He finds his mind wandering back to their previous conversation, his own words coming back to him: I hope you're happy. She'd been found on the balcony with Dean and Shadae—had they been together at her time of death? His texts after Vivi's death resurfacing in his mind: As long as you're not alone. As long as someone's there. At the time wishing it was him, but willing to accept the fact that it wasn't, and likely would never be again.
He takes a deep breath, blinking as he finally returns to the present. The coffee cup on the counter of the Daily Dose is getting cold and yet he's just staring at it, the barista watching him with a raised eyebrow. His stiff fingers finally wrap around the cup as he turns to leave, taking a sip as he steps out the door.
Bitter. Much more bitter than she used to make it.
Tumblr media
The pain is overwhelming. It's been days, and he still feels like he can't move. Numbly going through the motions of his morning routine, only to go and sit on the couch and stare at the wall for the day again. Guilt stabs through his abdomen once more as he sits on the cushions, eyes unfocused somewhere near the coffee table.
For the first few days after the massacre, he thought his hands would never stop shaking. Part of the issue was likely that he didn't eat much, not until he could see Jieun. Only after he'd laid eyes on her again could he force food down his throat. In a way, it was worse than the night after Rhee's: he knew what the grief and guilt were going to feel like now, and there wasn't much he could do about it but wait for the waves to pass.
Tumblr media
Jieun. So many regrets. Dae-eun was quickly realizing there were a lot of things about his life he regretted, but Jieun accounted for at least half of them.
He remembers long days spent in her room in Nightrest, bickering back and forth like siblings. She was the only one aside from his sister that he would tell things to, that he felt he could talk to, that he would truly consider a friend.
Growing up hurt. He saw her less and less, for various reasons. If he heard about her anymore, it was generally in a negative light: Jieun did this today. I can't believe she's like that. What a brat. His immature brain didn't really understand what was going on, and no one would explain things until much later, so he attached to his sister instead.
But deep down, he always missed her.
She was another reason he chose to go to Nightrest. Too nervous to make contact prior to his visit, he could still remember running into her in the cafe. Her checking up on him—because, in her own way, that was sort of what it was—after Selin put their relationship on blast. Her promising to keep him updated if the other woman went crazy. Her pressing him to carry a weapon around, despite his clear hesitation.
Then, of course, there were the more delicate moments—moments that neither of them would ever bring up again, but that he would never be able to forget. Her quiet question over coffee at the cafe, do you really think I'm next? (His idiotic, babbling answer, scaring her shitless.) Him promising—swearing to her that they would not die here. A promise he'd almost been unable to keep.
Where had he been when she'd been attacked? About halfway through the gala, he remembers realizing that he hadn't seen her in a while, but then something caught his attention—he can't even recall what it was now—and he was torn away again. He kicks himself now for not pushing harder, for growing complacent, but he can't change the past.
And then there was Rhee's. A side of Jieun he hasn't seen since they were young, the younger woman helping him back to her house after witnessing him absolutely fall apart in the parking lot. He'd left early in the morning, the guilt and sorrow still too heavy on his conscience for him to feel comfortable intruding on her space too long. He should've thanked her.
The honk of a horn jolts him from his thoughts and he pushes forward instinctively, car revving under his foot as he glances in the rearview mirror. He's on his way back to the hospital, and the sign comes into view as he pulls into a parking spot. Memories of the night after the gala spill into his head: him going to the hospital, pacing around the waiting room until they let him in to see her, his panic only barely subsiding when he sees her in the bed. (Crying himself to sleep in the nearby armchair, refusing to leave her side for the night. Not until she's awake, or that lunatic is behind bars.)
He shakes his head, putting the car into park and stepping out. He knows what awaits him inside those four walls and heads inside anyway, anxious to make sure she's still alright.
Tumblr media
It's been almost a week, and the pain is just as bad as it was that night. Everything in his apartment reminds him of someone, in one way or another. The framed picture of him and Jieun as kids sitting on the kitchen counter. His phone, messaging and social apps a constant reminder of what he's lost. A small, wilting housewarming plant in the corner from Sita—he never had been good with greenery. The ring necklace from Selin still laying in a small pile on his table, untouched since the day he brought it in. His jacket from the night of the gala, tossed over a kitchen chair, vaguely stiff from where tears have soaked into the fabric.
There's a knock at the door from outside and he ignores it—it's probably just his takeout anyway. Someone yells something unintelligible before setting something down with a thud and walking off, and only after they've left does he dare to slowly pull himself to his feet.
Some days are better than others. Some days, the pain is a numb, dull ache, and he can walk around the house, get small things done. Other days, like today, it's sharp, stabbing—as if he was the one being murdered.
He somehow manages to cross the room and unlock the door, grabbing the delivery and relocking the door before slipping back inside to the couch. His phone is buzzing with notifications, probably from friends checking in—most of them from here in Nightrest that would understand if he didn't reply, and the others from concerned family members finding out as the news spread across the country.
The news. The words hit him somewhere in the back of his mind and he blinks blearily at the takeout in front of him, trying to formulate his thoughts against the throbbing pain of grief knotting his stomach. He isn't very hungry, anyway, and now he has an idea. Without a second thought, he pulls out his laptop from under the coffee table, opening it to a fresh document.
His fingers settle onto the keys in their all too familiar spots he's spent so long in before, and just…start tapping. Stream of consciousness at first, but slowly growing more and more coherent.
After a few hours, he has an article.

Nightrest: What to Take Away from the Small-Town Massacre by Nam Dae-eun - June 1st, 2023
“As a journalist, I know better than most what “money-grab” articles look like—I’ve seen them before they were released to the public. Many of them are even worse than what is eventually published: cold, heartless blocks of text that remove all life from an event to report facts.
This is not that kind of article.
In Nightrest, Salem, Massachusetts, 2023 — a series of gruesome murders sweeps the town, with people dying faster than their families can grieve. In total, there were 18 deaths and 4 severely wounded before the killers were apprehended. Three perpetrators were the source of the sorrow that blanketed the town for months, touching nearly every one of its inhabitants in some way or another.
I traveled to Nightrest in early 2023, initially following an intriguing trail of folklore that I’d noticed. At the time, two bodies had washed up on the town's beaches, but the police weren’t thinking much of it, so it wasn’t publicized. Both Woodrow Hearst, the CFO of Kaplan Inc., and Louis Goodall, the lighthouse keeper, were found dead before my arrival.
Shortly after my arrival, a massive snowstorm blocked all travel in and out of the city for a few days. During this snowstorm, two more people were killed. Vivian Hayes, a sales clerk at the local thrift store The Treasure Trove, was found outside her place of work. Harlow Sotheby, a real estate agent from Salem, was found under a snowbank near the auto shop a few days later. Jacob Oh, a math teacher at Wardwell Academy, was also injured during the storm by what was later revealed to be an attempt on his life.
About a week following the incident during the snowstorm, three fires were set across the town at approximately the same time. Two buildings burnt empty, but the third had someone trapped inside: Amoni Brown, a nurse at Griggs General Hospital, was found in the bathroom after the flames were extinguished. A friend took me down to see the sites after their destruction. The damage was irreparable. It was at this point that I ditched my initial idea, following the murders more seriously. There had been six deaths and one failed attempt, and it was obvious things were more than just a coincidence. Still, the police failed to update people in a timely fashion.
Things had been slow in the town for a couple of days, with no one particularly eager to do much of anything. The deaths of four Nightrest natives had taken their toll. So when the news about the town’s own freshman shooting guard’s team making it to the Final Four in the March Madness tournament, people were desperate for a ray of good hope. A celebration was thrown at one of the restaurants in town, the final two games occurring with the whole town watching.
Five people would die that night. Brooks Azar, a Latin teacher at Wardwell Academy, collapsed at the bar during the end of the final game. Sita Abbrams, a pediatric surgeon at Griggs General Hospital, and Montez Phillips, a literature teacher at Wardwell Academy, were found outside the restaurant. Pierce Walker, an archivist at Wardwell Academy, was discovered in the bathroom. And Kerryn Bilal, a fisherman, was found in the restaurant's backroom with mutilated injuries. Clem Dupont, the host of two popular podcast series online, was also severely injured in the scuffle.
I’ve never seen an entire town go silent as quickly as Nightrest did that night. I myself had lost two close friends in the massacre, and I can tell you the pain was felt throughout the roots of the whole city. The police interrogation in that restaurant was nearly impossible to sit through: everyone just wanted to go home. That was one of the most difficult nights of my life, and I wasn’t even related to anyone attacked. I can only imagine how it felt for those that were closer. My heart goes out to them, for I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
The community decided to try for optimism one last time, and a charity gala was held on April 15th at the Royal Cove Yacht Club. All proceeds from ticket sales would go towards rebuilding the businesses affected by the fires, and attendees could donate extra money if they so wished. Against my better judgment, I went. The majority of the night passed without a problem, but everyone was on edge. I talked to multiple people throughout the night, almost all of whom mentioned being concerned about the murderer in one way or another. In many ways, it felt as if we had gathered for slaughter.
We had. The gala was a massacre. There were eight deaths by the time the suspects were apprehended, two of which were suspects themselves: Kennedy O’Neill, a sales clerk at the local thrift store The Treasure Trove, and Peter Buckley, the general manager at the Royal Cove Yacht Club. Shadae Okoro, the owner of the Royal Cove Yacht Club, was found on the balcony along with Dean Hadwin, the owner of the technology store Wired, and Selin Temel, a horseback riding coach. Not far from them, Malachi Phillips, a basketball coach at Wardwell Academy, and Aranya Saeli, a Twitch streamer and content creator, were discovered dead. Aylin Yilmaz, the owner of Two Dogs Veterinary Hospital and Shelter, was found in the bathroom nearby. Kage Himura, the owner of the local oddities shop The Weeping Glass, and Jieun Park, a popular internet influencer, were also severely wounded in the attack.
The Salem Police Department questioned the entire ballroom, taking only one suspect into custody. This is the same police department that denied assumptions of murder for the first two cases and insisted on taking it slow for the next three. In addition, they were not communicative with the public about information regarding the deaths and refused to elaborate when asked what they were doing to apprehend the killers. I reached out to them for a comment on this article, but unsurprisingly, they declined to respond.
The chief of police, Nathan Buckley, was caught destroying evidence relating to his brother, Peter Buckley, one of the deceased and a suspected killer. His punishment has yet to be released as of the time of writing.
I refuse to let this article be just another emotionless recitation of police reports and medical records, so if there’s anything you can take away from this horrendous small-town tragedy, let it be this. People are more than ink on a page; they are more than pixels on a screen. People are real—beautifully, horrifyingly real. The people you’ve been hearing about in the news existed, for however brief a moment: they had family, friends, colleagues, people whose worlds have now ground to a screeching halt. They are worth your time, they are worth your understanding, and they are worth your sympathy.
Life can end in the blink of an eye, no matter where you are. So be thankful for the time you do have."
"DAE-EUN NAM is a journalist based in Salem, MA, and is the author of many current events articles here at—”

Ari. Probably the hardest for him to rationalize. He'd overheard Malachi talking to a friend earlier that night about his girlfriend, and it only took him a few minutes to put two and two together. He'd kept an eye out for her the rest of the night, fearing the worst when the police arrived and he still hadn't seen her.
His gut instinct was correct, and he wasn't sure he would ever be able to get over the pain when he realized. He still couldn't get the image of the sweet, bubbly woman out of his head.
Their commiseration in their lack of understanding of basketball back at Rhee's. Just earlier that fateful night, when the two had shared drinks and laughter under the lights of the ballroom chandeliers. The fact that he had been one of the first she told about Mal, choosing to confide in him—despite the fact that he knew nothing about the other man. He'd done his best, even if he'd come up a bit short: circumstances proved ill-timed, tensions ran high, and everyone suffered for it. He still felt guilt deep down for it.
And now, he's coming home from her funeral, still somewhat in a state of shock. His car pulls into the driveway and he sits in silence for a bit, staring at the steering wheel as thoughts race through his head. Out of all of his friends, he'd miss her something terrible.
Brooks, Sita, Dean. The others he'd known flash through his head, sorrow still piercing him at each of their names. Brooks, one of his closest friends here in Nightrest. Sita, his first friend, who had become so much more by the time she passed. And Dean, who he really couldn't call a friend, and yet somehow he misses the other man all the same.
Nightrest isn't going to be the same for a while.
Tumblr media
That line from his texts with Brooks kept eating at him for the rest of the year, a constant nagging thought at the back of his mind: What am I going to tell the kids? Call him weak, but Dae-eun had always had a soft spot for children—primarily because of his own experience as a kid. He’d never been accepted the way other kids were, for a variety of reasons. He’d also seen how Selin had been treated when she was younger, heard it all through the court cases, whether he wanted to or not, and though she may not have been a kid at the time, the effect was the same. Kids needed protection from things they could not stand up to, and all too often they were pushed to the side.
At the time, he hadn't known how to answer the teacher, brushing it off with a simple oh, what does one say to anyone in this kind of situation? But he understood. More than the other would ever know.
Taking a deep breath, he switched the tabs on his laptop screen, pages flashing in the darkened room of his apartment as he scanned the text once more. Everything seemed to be in order, and he saved the pdf file, closing it without another glance. The blinking cursor of his mouse sat staring up at him from the email he was in the process of drafting. It flickered on and off like the numbers on a clock, taunting him with its contents. Spurred on by a sudden rush of adrenaline, his fingers hit the keyboard with renewed vigor, the email finished in a matter of minutes.
Moments later, his index finger hovered over the return key, inches away from upending his whole life. If Jieun was there, she would either scold him for making a dumb decision or tease him for following his heart—and both options brought a small smile to his face. The image of her helping him home after the event at Rhee’s still lingered in his mind and he blinked.
He'd made up his mind shortly after the attack at the restaurant, but the gala had been too soon after for him to do anything before then. Besides, he realized with a half-smile, Wardwell had lost a fair bit of their staff in the murders, and they would need the extra help.
Click.
The email was sent. Slowly, Dae closed the lid of his laptop, staring at the spot in mid-air where it had been moments prior. It was official. He was staying in Nightrest.
Tumblr media
It's been a week and a half. He's barely left the apartment since the gala, only leaving to get food or sit with Jieun in the hospital. In that time, he's written and edited an entire article, quit his job, and applied for another. The pain in his gut has finally eased to a dull boulder sitting in his stomach, and he takes a deep breath as he pulls on a shirt.
He has things to do. The world won't wait any longer for him to catch up.

April 29th, 2023 from: Nam Dae-eun <@ gmail . com>to: Frank Jones <@ gmail . com>subject: Submission and Resignation
Dear Mr. Jones,
I hope this message finds you well. During my time in Nightrest, I have written an article, per your request; however, you may well find that it is not the article I set out to write. In my opinion, this is a much more important story than some old folklore. I am attaching the article below. Do with it what you wish: either publish it, or throw it away; I do not care.
Regardless, the article will be uploaded. If it has not been published as is, without editing by June 5th, 2023, I will take it as a sign that you are not interested and will upload it myself. If it has been uploaded with edits, I will be uploading it myself in its pure form without further notice as soon as possible.
Furthermore, please accept this email as my formal notice of resignation from my position as a journalist here, effective immediately. While I appreciate all of the opportunities you have given me in the past, in order to grow, I have to move on to my next challenge: and that challenge will take place here, in Nightrest.
I will not be returning to Salem. If you require any further paperwork other than the resignation letter attached below, please contact me here.
Thank you again for all of the opportunities during my tenure. I wish you best of luck in your future endeavors.
Sincerely, Dae-eun Nam

— a look at clem's mobile device & social media ( ft. kage, montez, candy, aranya, finley, dae-eun ).
Tumblr media
THE BASICS:
brand of phone:
apple iphone 14 pro max 1TB²
color:
deep purple.
case:
phone case: plain, matte black. popsocket: a ghostface call me, visual here
locked or unlocked:
locked with both a passcode and face ID. face ID is the preferred method, of course, but her passcode is her mother's birthday in the order of DDMMYR ( so it's 230373 ).
wallpaper:
THIS piece of artwork that she finds very cute ( pastel panting of ghosts sitting on a grassy hill with a crescent moon, clouds, and rainbow in the sky ).
lockscreen:
THIS photo of dao, her cat ( siamese kitten sleeping on its back in her lap with view of adorable toe beans ).
Tumblr media
USAGE:
time spent on device:
it depends. on the days of her uploads, she's probably on it more than usual because of engagement. otherwise, she's only on it whenever she's reaching out to someone, when she's playing her games before trying to sleep, or she's looking up something and doesn't have her ipad or computer handy.
five most used apps:
spotify. kindle. webtoon. classic words. animal restaurant.
web tabs:
none are open. whenever she's done using one, she closes it.
last thing googled:
probably when she was looking for a new story, so something like japanese urban legends.
last text message received:
an update regarding a delivery of something she ordered for monty's upcoming birthday.
last voicemail:
probably a spam call and no, her voicemail is never full. she always cleans them out after listening to them, only saving the ones that are really special.
last thing on camera reel & what image was last saved:
last picture taken: THIS selfie. last image saved: THIS photo that she emailed to herself, which was taken for a previous concept to post on her company's instagram for httpfear. ( tw: fake blood ).
extra tidbits:
this is mainly just a section i wanted to add because these were things that came to me as i was doing this, but there was no real place to put them, so you're getting them here. as is true for her regular life, she keeps her phone very tidy and there is a place & reason for everything: all of her apps are organised in folders---e.g., daily, socials, entertainment, games, shopping, etc.---and she only has four folders on each page so the majority of her background is visible; like with her voicemails, she doesn't keep texts directly on her phone unless they're special and she cleans her call history regularly; if you're in her phone, trust she has you saved under a nickname, even if she doesn't ever address you using said nickname; she always closes both web tabs and apps on her phone the second she's finished using them; she is constantly sanatising it; physically CANNOT STAND having the red notification bubbles on anything and when some apps glitch and those things don't always go away immediately when they should is when you get to see angy clem; and she uses one of those privacy screen protectors so you have to be sitting at the right angle to see what she's doing.

she has the app downloaded, but that's only because she gets sent tiktoks and it's just easier to have it downloaded than not. it's never something she finds herself scrolling on.
facebook:
this is another social media app that she wants no part of. she's never had one, nor will she ever because she has no family to keep in contact with and all her friends are nearby.
others:
has youtube, pinterest, reddit, & tumblr.
youtube is where she posts the videos she creates of her two podcasts.
ADVICE PODCAST. HORROR PODCAST. ( tw: horror images, fake blood, creepy eye drawing?, knife ).
pinterest is mostly a private thing ( as in most of her boards are hidden ) because she pins things for aesthetic purposes regarding different ideas she has and may wish to explore in the future. the only boards that are public are her own personal board ( about herself and things she likes ) and a board she's created for the book series she's already published and within that board, each book has it's own section with things like how she pictures the main characters, their connection, the aesthetic of the location & mystery, etc. reddit is something she uses as a way of connecting with some of her listeners and giving them a place to post their own stories and things they may want her to read/cover because whereas she gets some of her inspiration from r/nosleep sometimes, she also likes involving her listeners and that's a wee bit easier to manage in comparison to emails, especially considering she does everything all on her own save for someone she has help her with the editing of her youtube vids. tumblr is where she posts writings, something like a diary of sorts ( think like inkskinned & sue zhao ), though it's completely anonymous and she'd likely throw herself into the void if anyone found out it was her.

'Red Balloon', 3 types of firepower that viewers can sympathize with
Tumblr media
TV CHOSUN's weekend mini-series 'Red Balloon' is exploding 'empathy firepower' with realistic narration and a vivid reality story.
'Red Balloon' (script Moon Yeong-nam/director Jin Hyung-wook/producer Green Snake Media, Highground) tells the thrilling and thrilling story of relative deprivation, the thirst for stomach-ache, and our struggles to quench that thirst. We looked at three special reasons why 'Red Balloon' was well-received by maximizing viewers' empathy.
◆ The story of the man and the woman in reality
'Red Balloon' is a story of someone who has actually heard of it, and it wraps the home theater with empathy with the development of an extreme reality story with realistic material. Like the gathering place of various word-of-mouth, the episodes of the man and the woman encountered somewhere in the family, work, or neighborhood are contained in detail and naturally. As a result, social issues that have been publicized in actual news have also appeared, earning a reputation as a 'hyperrealism drama'.
In the play, Yang Ban-suk (Lee Bo-hee) received a text message saying that the old-age pension would come out, and as she grew older, she was excited to think it was a separate money. Here, after Jo Dae-bong (Jeong Bo-seok) performs CPR on a passenger in a cardiac arrest in a taxi, goes home and asks his family if they know how to perform CPR, and in the scene, “If you suddenly stop breathing and your pulse stops, you have to do it right away.” The content related to the 'implementation of CPR for the general public', which emerged in conjunction with the accident, raised the sense of reality.
◆ Human nature, psychology, and duality exposed
'Red Balloon' formed a consensus by clearly showing the 'relative sense of deprivation' that we all feel in the present era, but it is coolly revealed on the outside and cannot be said. The relative deprivation felt by Jo Eun-gang (Seo Ji-hye), a clay spoon born in a poor family, to Han Bada (Hong Soo-hyeon), a golden spoon who was born rich and enjoys many things, and the manifestation of suppressed desire that started from this, caused a response that made people nod their heads.
The colorful and wealthy daily life, envy and jealousy of a life superior to one's, betrayal and hypocrisy to take it away, and the pursuit of justification for one's own happiness, 'Red Balloon' is a psychological portrayal of human duality and selfish human It is asking fundamental questions about nature.
◆Life history of family members of various ages and generations, couples with different textures
'Red Balloon' is achieving a wide consensus among men and women of all ages as family members and couples of various ages and generations appear. Gomul-sang (Yun Joo-sang) and Na Gong-ju (Yoon Mi-ra), a 70-year-old man who managed to make a living if they made a mate even without love, and Cho Dae-bong and Yang Ban-suk, an elementary school alumnus who want to be a husband and a woman who do not have unfaithful days, but have strong wives in their 60s. to draw
Hanbada and Gochaewon are struggling with the extreme conflict between father and mother that cannot be sealed, causing regret, and Jin-cheol (Lee Seong-jae), who married without dating, is shaken by Jo Eun-san (Jung Yu-min), a love he is trying for the first time. In particular, to the mother, Yang Ban-sook, who wails greatly due to Jo Dae-bong, her two daughters, Jo Eun-gang and Jo Eun-san, said, "Divorce and live your mother's life."
The production team said, "It seems that 'Red Balloon' is gaining more sympathy because it reflects realistic episodes that have been heard at least once and events that have been publicized in real life." I will do my best to create a unique 'red balloon'."
Meanwhile, 'Red Balloon' recorded TOP5 in the drama TV topicality in the 5th week of December announced by Good Data Corporation, a TV topicality analysis agency. In terms of drama search issue keywords (performers), Seo Ji-hye took first place, while Lee Seong-jae, Hong Soo-hyun, Lee Sang-woo, and Seol-hwan took second to fifth place, respectively.

ignoring their messages when you’re mad — all of us are dead
Tumblr media Tumblr media
text you nonstop. spam you with short text, compliment you saying how pretty you looked today, sends you random sticker, text you with a long apologize message ( even if they probably don’t remember what they did ) and will not stop until you talk to them.
gyeong-su, dae-su, cheong-san, eun-ji.
literally get mad. they doesn’t care if they did something bad, if you stop responding to their text, then they will stop to text you, you’ll have to make the first move and probably force you to apologize.
mi-jin, gwi-nam, na-yeon.
wait for you to calm down. then text you a short message saying sorry and asking if you want to meet for talk. if you say yes, you guys will just talk about it and they’ll get clingy after everything, but if you say no, they will normally just wait for you.
joon-yeong, nam-ra, on-jo, su-hyeok, ha-ri, woo-jin.

In Jongdae’s apartment, Jae-Eun lay in his couch. Her head rested in his lap and in silence Jongdae smoothed her hair away from her face. Tears poured quietly, leaving a damp spot in his pants. If it bothered him, he didn’t say a word. Like Jae-Eun knew Jongdae needed comforting words, he knew she didn’t. Jae-Eun needed someone to lean on but encouraging words were of no help. Silent support was all she wanted.
It had been almost two weeks since Jae-Eun had walked in on Kyungsoo and Mi-Sun in his office. Two weeks since Jae realized he didn’t want to let that woman go.
Jae didn’t know if she had been a distraction for Kyungsoo, just something to do until Mi-Sun decided she was ready to play with him again. Or he could be using her to make Mi-Sun jealous. Whatever the reason it was, he had taken Jae-Eun for a fool.
And she had fallen for it whole-heartedly. The sad eyes, pretty promises out of pretty lips, smiles and secret, stolen glances. She had fallen hard for all of it. Jae-Eun believed every word until she saw him knelt at Mi-Sun’s side just like the day they had gotten married. The progress she thought they had made over the last year was a lie. He never intended to move on. Everything she thought she knew was wrong.
The ears fell harder. It hurt, everything hurt. She thought she would eventually get past it. But right now, she needed to grieve.
But she had messed up so much worse than anyone knew. In her grief she neglected herself. Didn’t pay attention to her body. At first there was a lack of appetite, which could be contributed to her emotions. Jae had spent most of that time asleep, so it had been easy to ignore the hunger pain. Then she got sick, unable to keep anything down even when she tried. Her head began to pound uncontrollably, no position, level of darkness, lack of sound or scent would deter the pain.
Jongdae was at work, and Jae-Eun was lucky that his ex-girlfriend Soo-Young had shown up when she did. Jae-Eun had barely made it to open the door before she fainted from the pain. Soo-Young rushed her to the hospital where Dae had met them. She had been so severely dehydrated that any longer and Jae would have gone into shock.
Jae was pissed off at herself for not recognizing the symptoms.
“Eonni,” Soo-Young’s voice brought her out of the thoughts, “You should drink. The tea is still warm, and you don’t want to get sick again.”
Sniffling, Jae-Eun sat up, wiping away her tears and taking the mug of tea.
“Thank you,” she told Soo-Young before bringing the mug to her lips, letting the warm liquid flow down her throat.
The moment it hit her stomach it turned, she heaved and Jongdae produced the trash can he kept close to them. He moved strands of loose hair as she retched into the can, emptying the limited contents of her stomach.
Jae-Eun repeated the process a couple more times before the tea finally settled and she could hold it down. The taste left in her mouth made her feel nauseous, so she excused her self to the bathroom to brush her teeth and rinse. It would likely prompt even more nausea, but she had to try.
When she returned Jongdae pulled her in to his arms.
“Jae-Eun-ah he started as he rubbed circles into her back. “You should call…”
“No…” He was the last person she wanted to see right now. A few weeks ago, she had been secure in her future with or without Kyungsoo. But he had stolen an chance she had at getting past this.
“I said I needed time.”
“Yeah, but you’re sick.”
“I’m not dying, Oppa.”
She was surprised Kyungsoo had given her the space she asked for. Well… kind of anyways. He called Jongdae daily and had texted her almost as often.
           Tuesday, 8:34 pm
                        Soo: Please talk to me…
           Wednesday, 10:30 am
                       Soo: I put in time off for you.
           Wednesday, 10:36 am
                       Soo: Let me explain… please.
           Thursday, 5: 50 pm
                       Soo: Come on baby, call me.
           Saturday, 3:12 pm
                       Soo: please
           Tuesday, 6:45 am
                       Soo: it’s been a week
           Thursday, 11:45 pm
                       Soo: I just want to hear your voice
           Saturday, 2:00 pm
                       Soo: I miss you
As much as she hated it, she missed him too. She missed the days spent quiet in each other’s arms, and the nights up late talking about anything and everything. She missed his eyes peering through his glasses at her as she painted in their office. She missed watching him cook, and the way he hummed when doing menial tasks. She missed the way her hand fit into his and how his lips felt on her skin.
The tears started falling again.
Soo Young sighed, sitting next to Jae and wrapping her in a hug. Jae leaned her head on Soo-Youngs shoulder and let them flow. There was no stopping them anyway.
The building buzzer rang and Jongdae stood to check the display.
“Um, Jae, he’s here.”
Jae-Eun shook her head. She wasn’t ready.
“Sorry little brother, she doesn’t want to see you yet.”
Kyungsoo’s smooth calm voice came back over the comm.
“So help me, Hyung. I will burn this building down to get to her.
She was afraid this was going to happen. The last thing she wanted was to cause a rift between Kyungsoo and Jongdae.
He moved again to protest but Jae stopped him.
“Jongdae, it’s okay.”
He watched as she wiped her tears away and smoothed her hair back into its bun before he hit the button to let Kyungsoo up.
“Do you want us to leave?” Dae asked.
“Please don’t, I’m not ready to do this alone.”
He and Soo-Young agreed and when Kyungsoo walked in they stood like a shield between him and her.
Kyungsoo nodded to the other two but his eyes stayed on her.
“Jae,” his voice was calm but assertive, “I got you point. It’s time to come home.”
“No,” she said simply.
“What do you mean no? I’ve waited for two weeks for you to come home. What do you want me to say? I don’t love her, I love you, now get your things and let’s go.”
Jae stood a little too quickly, but she recovered before Kyungsoo could notice.
“Are you kidding me? The level of her voice was making her nauseous again,” Let’s say for a minute I believe you, and I’m not inclined to, why would I go anywhere with you after a confession like that?”
Kyungsoo sighed, “Is there any way I could confess that would make you believe me?”
She shook her head.
“Then what’s the point. You won’t talk to me or let me explain.” “What’s to explain, you had your tongue down her throat.” Jae shot back.
“I didn’t have my tongue down her throat. I was trying to push her away.”
“Didn’t look like that to me. And let’s not forget the whole ‘you don’t love me like you love her’ confession.”
“Is that all you heard?”
“What more do I need to hear.”
“A lot,” Kyungsoo spat, “There was so much more to that conversation.”
Jongdae and Soo-Young shifted uncomfortably as his voice grew louder.
“It doesn’t matter, she’s obviously thorough jealous and wants you back, so you get what you want.”
“I already told you want I wanted. Damn, Jae, can’t we talk about this at home?”
“You lost the right to choose where we have this conversation.”
“If I wanted her, why am I not with her now? Why and I here begging you to come home? Why am I sleeping in the damn penthouse instead of our home, because the thought of being there without you makes me sick.”
He moved toward her but Jongdae side stepped in Kyungsoo’s way. He gave Dae a slitted look but didn’t push further.
“I won’t fall for your pretty words again.” She mumbled.
“Pretty words? Jae, you know I’m shit at telling you how I really feel. So what? You think this was all a lie?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“If I really wanted her, what reason would I have to lie now?”
“I don’t know, you keep promising the truth, but I have yet to hear it.”
Kyungsoo ran a hand through his hair. “You want the truth? How about I didn’t want my wife to know how big an idiot I was. How about the fact that I got played, from the very damn beginning? I was stupid and naïve, and I gave her everything she wanted and didn’t ask a damn question. Or how about it’s your damn fault I got involved with her in the first place?”
“I didn’t even know you then, that doesn’t make sense.”
“But I knew you,” He didn’t hesitate, “When did your parents tell you it was me they wanted you to marry?”
She sighed, pressing her fingers in the back of her neck to relieve the ache. “I don’t remember, in college maybe. Yeah, they didn’t approve of Nate. I was told I could date if I wanted, but I would be expected to marry you once I came home.”
“Our mothers are best friends. Do you really think they only came up with this when we were in college?”
He had a point, though her mother never gave a name before university, she had always seemed to be talking about a specific person in regard to Jae-Eun marrying.
“I’ve known since I was ten. You went to a different primary school but transferred to our high school. Your bullies didn’t stop messing with you because you hung out with the upperclassmen. Mom told me about you being bullied. They quit because I cornered them and threatened to have their parents fired from my company or call in favors if they didn’t work for my dad. I knew who you were then, and I didn’t mind. I kind of like that my parents had someone picked out for me. You were pretty and likable enough from what I could tell. I would even meet Jongdae after his art class so that I could see you, but I didn’t think it was right to talk to you if you didn’t know who I was.”
“Gee thanks, Kyungsoo-yah. Nice to know our little tradition was because you wanted to see a girl.” Jongdae whined.
Jae-Eun huffed in annoyance, “What does this have to do with her?”
Kyungsoo continued, “One day in third year you didn’t show. Or any day after that. Your parents had sent you to the states, I was pissed. Here is this girl who was supposed to be mine, and I wasn’t even informed when you were sent away.”
“I don’t’ belong to you. Why should you have been told?”
“I know that now. But then I was angry. I could have gone with you so that you weren’t alone. It felt like an ambush. But I mostly blamed myself, if I had said something to you, had we become friends then, maybe you would have stayed. So Jongin and I made a promise to each other not to marry the women our parents arranged for us.” Kyungsoo explained.
Jongdae belted, “That was because of her.”
“This is ridiculous.” Jae-Eun hissed.
“That was caused by Lee Jae-Eun.” He confirmed. “My hope, when I was sent to the states, was to find a woman to bring home so that I could marry who I chose, not someone who was chosen for me. That’s when I met Mi-Sun. She was my choice, and it was the biggest mistake of my life. But I didn’t cheat Jae.”
Jae-Eun felt the tears well in her eyes.
“When we went on that first date, Mi-Sun had just told be she was pregnant. So, I had given up on everything. But you walked into that coffee shop with this confidence. You were still the same girl I liked in high school, but it was like the air around you changed. It was hard to take my eyes off you. You were professional and poised, and you had this plan to make this marriage work and for the first time in years I was actually interested in something other than Mi-sun. But I wasn’t ready to let her go. I wanted to I just wasn’t ready and I took that out on you.”
She wanted to believe him, she wanted it to be the truth. Jae just didn’t know if she could trust what he said ever again.
Her emotions mixed with hormones made her stomach churn uncontrollably. A hard sob sent it over the edge and Jae-Eun dropped to her knees, dry heaving into the can.
“Jae!” She heard his voice in the distance.
Soo-Young came to her side, holding back her hair, rubbing circles into her back.
“What’s wrong with her?” Kyungsoo demanded, “why do you keep acting like you have to protect her from me?”
“I’m not trying to, but you need to back off. She’s sick.”
“Kim Jongdae.” Jae managed a warning before her stomach finally emptied.
“I’m sorry, Jae-Eun-ah,” Dae said when she managed to stop retching. “He’s my brother, I can’t lie to him anymore.”
“You promised.” She cried.
“But I didn’t,” Soo-Young came to her feet and stood beside Jongdae. “Your wife just got out of the hospital last night. She was extremely dehydrated, and close to going into shock.”
He moved forward again, but Jae-Eun held her had up for him to stop.
“Why wasn’t I told. She’s my wife damnit.”
Jongdae placed a hand on his shoulder, “I was there as her guardian. We didn’t have to inform you and she asked me not to.”
“She has a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum.” Soo-Young explained. “It’s a very severe form of morning sickness.”
There was silence from him at first. Jae-Eun slid off her knees and rested back against the couch. She sniffled as she wiped the tears (some from crying, some from the stain of vomiting).
Kyungsoo was hidden from her sight by Dae and Soo-Young, her hand in his.
“Are you saying…” He couldn’t finish the sentence.
“Yes, she’s pregnant.”
Jae heard a shuffle and a loud bang as Kyungsoo backed into the wall and slid down to the floor. Jongdae knelt at his side as Soo-Young turned back to check on Jae-Eun.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered to Jae-Eun, “I couldn’t let Dae do it.”
Jae-Eun nodded in understanding. Jongdae was doing much better, but who knew what could send him spiraling. She brushed more tears again. With his head between his knees, Kyungsoo’s shoulders bounced. She would have thought he was crying, but the sound he emitted was nowhere near a cry.
He was laughing.
When he raised his head, his face was contorted into a half-smile-half-sneer.
“You’re having my baby, and we can’t even be happy about it. I told you I would fuck this up. You should have run when my mom gave you the chance.”
His voice broke and the smile disappeared. Kyungsoo breathed heavily and Jae thought she saw moisture in his eyes.
With Jongdae’s help, Kyungsoo rose to his feet.
“Baby, please come home. Let me take care of you. We can work this out… please.” He begged.
“I’m not leaving you. I made a promise and I intend to keep it.” Jae assured him. “But, I’m not ready to go home with you. I still need more time.”
There was something in his face that looked like hopelessness to Jae. It almost had her changing her mind, but then she remembered just good at acting Kyungsoo really was.
He nodded his head, turning away, but he thought better of it. Shoving his hand in the pocket of his jeans, he produced a USB drive.
“The time that Mi-Sun walked in on us in my office, she didn’t know that Secretary Yoon told me she always asked if I was alone before she came in. So she would have had to know that you were in there with me. I didn’t trust her after that, so I have audio and video installed and Secretary Yoon would turn it on every time Mi-Sun showed up.”
He knelt next to her, taking her hand and slipping the drive into her palm.
“If you want to know what really happened it’s on this drive,” Kyungsoo closed her fingers around the box. Then he placed a kiss to the back of her hand, pressing it against his cheek.
Jae-Eun closed her eyes for a second and allowed herself to feel, to take in the sensation of his skin against hers.
Then he released it and stood.
“I’ll give you whatever time and space you need. You know where I’ll be and how to get a hold of me when you are ready.”
He turned to the door but Jae-Eun needed to know something before he left.
“Kyungsoo,” she called after him. “How can I ever trust you when you keep her by your side.”
“Yoo Mi-Sun no longer works for Ganghan.” He said simply. “Monday is the last day of her notice.”
“Why?”
“She tried to wreck our marriage. Let’s just say when given the option between a new position in Busan and a sexual harassment lawsuit, she chose the former.”
Jae-Eun remained silent, unsure of how to respond to that. She knew there was no guarantee she would go through with it. Jae-Eun had learned that hoping, when it came to Kyungsoo, was futile.
“I love you.” Kyungsoo’s voice was solid and confident. “I know it may not matter to you now, but you deserve to hear it. I love you more than anything.”
He turned to Jongdae, “Take care of her for me, Hyung.”
Then he walked out the door.
Jae tossed the USB on the table like it was toxic. She didn’t want to hear his confession again, or to see their passionate exchange. But more than anything she didn’t want to watch as he rushed to her side protectively.
Jae climbed to her feet slowly so she wouldn’t agitate the nausea and dizziness. With out a word to Jongdae and Soo-Young, she walked out of the room. The taste of bile lingered, so she brushed her teeth. It would be important for her to maintain this if the sickness were to be a regular occurrence. From what the doctor told her, anything could set it off and it could last anywhere from a few months to the entire pregnancy.
Pregnancy!
Jae-Eun hadn’t’ let herself believe it yet. But Kyungsoo knew, she couldn’t avoid it anymore. She couldn’t continue to wallow in self-pity any more because she was having Kyungsoo’s baby, and she was happy about it. No matter what their baby was a good thing. She could focus her time raising their child, the next heir to the Ganghan empire, and not waste her time caring about who her husband did or didn’t love.
When she came out of the bathroom, Jae-Eun had renewed strength.
Jongdae and Soo-Young sat on the couch with a laptop, the drive slotted on the right side.
“I know you don’t trust him.” Jongdae spoke over the back of the couch. “But I think he is telling the truth. You should watch the video.”
He was right, of course. Jae-Eun needed to know. Seeing the whole picture would be important if she were ever going to find a way past this.
So, the nodded and joined them on the couch. “I will watch it if you stay with me.”
Jongdae sighed, “okay, which one is it?”
“There,” she pointed, “that was the date.”
Jongdae’s fingers moved over the touchpad, selection the video and hitting play.
Kyungsoo and Jae-Eun stood together as Mi-Sun stepped into his office.
“CEO, Director Lee.” Mi-Sun bowed.
“Director Yoo.”
“Early as always, Director.” Kyungsoo’s voice was clipped.
“Yes, sir.”
Jae-Eun turned back to Kyungsoo, “I’ll see you at home.”
She placed a kiss to his cheek then whispered something that was inaudible. As she turned away Kyungsoo grabbed her hand, pressing it to his chest.
“Be safe,” he released her and Jae-Eun walked out of the office, leaving Kyungsoo and Mi-Sun alone together.
Mi-Sun stepped forward, tossing the binger on the table where Kyungsoo took his in-office meetings.
“The others are running a bit late, but they will be here soon.” She told him.
Je leaned back against his desk, crossing his arms and acknowledged her.
“You look happy.” She noted.
“I am,” he responded.
“It’s a complete one-eighty from what I saw at your wedding.”
Kyungsoo pulled his glasses off and tossed them back on his desk.
“We had a rough start. Jae-Eun and I … we figured things out. Everything is good. It’s really good.”
Mi-Sun came up next to him, “You’re in love with her?”
A smile formed on Kyungsoo’s face that was visible across the distance from the camera.
“Yeah, I’m in love with her.”
“But you don’t love her like you love me.”
Kyungsoo’s smile faded and he stepped out of Mi-Suns touch.
“You’re right. I don’t.”
Jae-Eun felt the daggers in her chest again. It was worse than the first time. Kyungsoo told Mi-Sun he was he was in love with Jae-Eun only to turn right around and contradict himself. To say it wasn’t enough.
She wanted to be done, but his voice caught her attention again.
“Loving you had be twisted and broken. I felt like I was drowning all the time. With Jae, it’s like I can breathe again. She’s my air. She doesn’t try to control me or stand on my coat tails. She stands beside me. Jae-Eun is my partner. I never loved you the way I love her.”
Mi-Sun approached him again. “How could you say that after everything we have been through. I messed up, I know I did. But I still love you and I still want to be with you.”
Kyungsoo backed away again, “Why are you telling me this now? After I said I’m in love and happy.”
Kyungsoo made quick eye contact with the camera.
“Because I’m not happy and I miss you. It kills me that I sent you into someone else’s arms.”
He huffed, “You van stop how. I don’t believe a word you say. All you know how to do is lie.”
Mi-Sun threw herself at him then, grabbing onto his lapels, pulling him down, plastering her lips to his.
Kyungsoo pushed her back, “Yoo Mi-Sun!”
But she flung her arms around his neck pulling him back down keeping him locked there.
His hands grabbed her hips and pushed against her. Then the door slammed.
Jae-Eun watched herself step out of her heels, stalk over to them and plant her fist in Mi-Suns face.
Jongdae released a loud, “ooohhh,” as M-Sun fell to the ground.
But Jae kept her eyes on Kyungsoo as she grabbed her around the waist and stopped her from attacking. His focus seemed to be more on her than the bleeding woman on the floor of his office. Then he jerked a few tissues from the box and knelt down, presenting the tissue to Mi-Sun between two fingers, turning away as soon as she took it.
Jae-Eun had been wrong. It wasn’t like their wedding day when he had run to Mi-Sun’s side worried for her wellbeing. He seemed annoyed to have had to help her. Kyungsoo was curt and called her director instead of by her name. But it could just be that he was at work and was trying to be professional given the situation.
Then he told Jae-Eun to go home.
The door slammed a second time.
Kyungsoo picked up the black binder and walked behind his desk.
Taking he seat he spoke. “You should go to the hospital and have that checked out. I’ll go over your numbers and conduct the meeting without you.”
He slid his glasses back on to look over the papers.
“Not until you call the authorities, Kyungsoo. That woman is crazy.”
“You expect me to call the police on my own wife. Are you out of your mind?”
“You saw her attack me. She’s out of control. I’m sure my nose is broken.” She pushed him as she stood up.
“And tell them what exactly? She walked in on you sexually harassing her husband. Are you planning on explaining that to the police?”
“It was just a kiss, Kyungsoo.”
“One that was unwanted and unsolicited.” He fumed, “Your nose is still bleeding, you should really focus on taking care of that.”
He skimmed through the binder, not showing her much attention. He sounded disinterested in anything Mi-Sun was saying.
“Kyungsoo…”
“I’m not calling the police on Jae-Eun. If you decide to pursue this further then I’m just going to have to file a complaint of my own.”
“Kyungsoo, if you love me you will…”
“I don’t love you,” Kyungsoo’s voice boomed across his office. “And I’m done feeling responsible for you and your son.”
Mi-Sun gawked.
“Now go get yourself checked out, send the bill to Secretary Yoon, and leave me and my wife alone.”
“Kyungsoo…” She pushed again.
He dropped the binder and picked up his phone. “Secretary Yoon, could you call a driver for Director Yoo. She needs to make a trip to the hospital. Thank you.”
He replaced the receiver and looked back at Mi-Sun.
“They are expecting you Director.” Kyungsoo spoke to Mi-Sun with the same disdain he had shown Jae-Eun when they were first together.
Mi-Sun huffed, but she turned and stomped out of his office.
Kyungsoo picked the binder back up just before the video cut off.
Jae-Eun sat in silence. Her brain didn’t seem to be working. The information didn’t want to process correctly.
Jondae spoke up, “And now I remember why we never liked her.”
Jae-Eun came to her feet. Her mind wasn’t working but her body propelled her forward.
“Where are you going?” Jongdae asked as she pulled her keys out of the dish by the door and changed from her slippers to her shoes.
“I was wrong. I have to go. I need to go home.”
She didn’t wait for a response before she was out the door and in the elevator. The ride down took centuries, time for her head to catch up with her heart.
Jae had only seen and heard what she had expected to, hot what really happened. She hadn’t noticed the blandness of his voice when he spoke to Mi-Sun, the disinterest. She didn’t notice his body language. The way his hands were pushing at her hips not pulling her to him. Hw he’d knelt just to pass along the tissue, not to make sure she was okay.
Kyungsoo had been right those months ago when he told her she had one foot out the door. Jae thought her insecurities were fading, but the moment Mi-Sun posed any kind of threat, Jae had been prepared to flee. God how could she ever make up for what she put him through for the past two weeks.
When the elevator opened, she burst through the doors taking the lobby at a jog. It was a risk with her stomach on overdrive, but she didn’t care.
Jae kept her speed outside to find her car, only she noticed the one in the building looked like Kyungsoo’s.
Jae-Eun slowed her pace as she recognized the figure in the driver seat. Hands gripping tow and ten, his forehead pressed against the steering wheel, Kyungsoo’s shoulders heaved. He hadn’t even made it out of the parking lot yet.
She laughed, tears pouring in torrents. Her idiot husband, the love of the life, was crying in his car.
She came around to his door and knocked on his window. He jumped, lifting his head, his eyes widened when he saw her.
Jae-Eun stepped back as he jumped out of the car.
“Is everything okay? What’s wrong? Do you need to go back to the hospital?” he bombarded her with questions.
She laughed through a sob as he brought her hands up to wipe the tears away from Kyungsoo’s cheeks. A red spot lined his forehead from where it had rested on the steering wheel.
“Are you really going to make your pregnant wife pack her bags by herself?” She cried.
Kyungsoo stammered, “you… You’re coming home?”
She nodded her head and Kyungsoo wrapped her up in his arms.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t believe you.”
“No, I’m sorry,” he inserted, “I will never do anything to make you doubt me again. I love you so much and I should have told you.”
“You were right, I was so insecure, I thought you would leave me for her, and I didn’t see what was really happening.”
Kyungsoo laughed. “You are stuck with me now. I have my wonderful wife and a baby on the way. I will never leave you. Not for anything.”
He peppered her face with kisses, and Jae-Eun giggled at the gesture.
“Can we just be happy now. Madam Do?”
Jae-Eun agreed, “at least until I have to throw up again.”
His smile faded in concern, “Is it that bad?”
Kyungsoo draped his arm around her shoulder as he turned them back to the building.
“Oh my God, it’s so bad.” She replied as they started back to the building. “So you liked me in high school.”
“I did. And I have a feeling you’re not going to let me live that down.”
“Nope, it’s forever ammo.”
  It was warm, familiar, and safe when she woke, surrounded by objects and smells she was accustomed to. Kyungsoo lay, still sleeping, next to her, his face obscured in a tangle of her hair, his hand splayed out protectively over her belly.
The happy feeling lasted all of ten seconds before her stomach had her making a run for the bathroom. Jae-Eun barely made it to the toilet before emptying her stomach, then dry heaving for a solid five minutes. At some point her hair was pulled away from her face and a toasty hand rubbed comfort into her back.
When she was finally done, she crawled over, propping herself up against the wall. Kyungsoo wet down a wash cloth and handed it to her as she took the floor in front of her.
“Good morning, beautiful.” He smiled lightly at her.
Jae wiped her face and neck down.
“This is not exactly how you pictured you saying that to me.” She told him.
“How exactly did you picture it?”
“I don’t know, wrapped up in each other’s arms in bed when we first wake up in the morning. Definitely not while I’m covered in sweat, tears, and vomit on the bathroom floor.”
Kyungsoo took the cloth back patting it around her face.
“Well you are growing my baby. You look beautiful even on the floor covered in sweat, tears and vomit.”
“Now you’re just kissing my ass.” She teased.
“And I will continue to do so. At least for the next eight or so months.” He explained, helping her to her feet slowly, “Are you sure you want to go to work today. You can take a leave of absence or work from home.”
She shook her head lightly, “I want to keep things as normal as possible for as long as possible.”
Kyungsoo didn’t like it, but he agreed.
Getting breakfast to stay down was challenging. Nari hovered over her, jumping at every move. Kyungsoo wasn’t any better.
They both thought it was better to wait a while to announce the news to the company, so Kyungsoo had a member of the cleaning staff assigned solely to her office. One under instructions to keep her condition a secret.
Jae-Eun felt bad for the woman. The biggest part of the time she only dry heaved, but she had to force fluids or be at risk of dehydration again. So, the woman was kept busy.
Jae-Eun mostly stayed to her work and was able to keep control while she spoke with her staff, but half way through the day she knew it would be difficult to do this for very long.
She was scanning through the slide prints for the new ad pitch when her phone rang.
“Lee Jae-Eun.” She rattled off, her head still in the slides.
“Have you been able to keep any thing down?” Kyungsoo’s voice came across the receiver.
“Yes dear.” She teased.
"I'm going to bring lunch up down in a bit. We can eat together so I can be there if you get sick." He asked.
"Mmm" she agreed.
"I thought I should let you know, she is here today. I didn’t think she would show, but she clocked in." Kyungsoo warned her. Again, the disdain he had shown Jae-Eun when they were first married was thick in his throat as he spoke about Mi-Sun.
Jae-Eun smiled. She never though he would speak to her with such love while referring to Mi-Sun with distaste and annoyance.
"Are you okay baby?" His smooth baritone sang to her across the line.
"Absolutely," she said with the confidence of a woman who knew where her man stood. "I'm not worried. She will likely keep her head down and finish her last day. I'm looking forward to lunch. Well kind of anyways."
She wanted to have lunch with Kyungsoo, but was not looking forward to the eventual, barf session.
He showed up some time later with a bowl of broth and crackers.
" I figured we could start off simple and see what will be easier on your stomach. Also, it said if you eat smaller more frequent meals and snack, it may help control the sickness some." He explained.
"Look at you, doing your research." She doted.
"You are already going to go through so much, I want to make things as easy as possible. Secretary Yoon was able to get a hold of everyone. So we have the weekend with all the guy and the family to tell them the news.”
They had plan to tell their immediate family, only that also extended to Kyungsoo’s brothers... all eight of them.
Broth and crackers were not easy.
She had to send him back to his office. Kyungsoo had an important meeting after lunch, but he didn’t want to leave with her feeling sick.
The remainder of the day was quiet. So far, the first day back had been relatively easy. Her staff were competent enough that she didn’t have to hover or micromanage.
Everyone else had left for the day and Jae had finished editing slides, when she decided to head home. She grabbed her bag out of her desk and when she stood, a figure at the door had her jumping.
Mi-Sun stood just inside her office.
“Mrs. Yoo, it’s not polite to lurk in some one’s doorway.” Jae-Eun chastised.
She stood with her keys and pushed her chair into her desk.
“You think you won.” Mi-Sun murmured.
“Won what exactly? I’m not playing a game Mi-Sun. This is my life. I don’t have time for games.”
Mi-Sun snickered. “He may think he loves you now. But he will come back to me. He always comes back to me.”
Jae-Eun didn’t falter. She shrugged. “I don’t think so. But if he does then I hope the two of you are happy together.”
“You are a smug little bitch, turning your nose up at everyone. You don’t want to admit that you can’t control him.”
“I don’t want to control him. I like him just the way he is. If he wants to be controlled, I’m sure he’ll go find you again. And I don’t turn my nose up at anyone, I just don’t have to patience to deal with immaturity and drama. I never have and he knows it.” Jae-Eun remarked.
“He only wants you for your money.”
“No, Mi-Sun that’s you.”
The woman huffed.
Jae recognized Mi-Sun’s last-ditch effort to get between her and Kyungsoo. It wouldn’t work this time. Kyungsoo’s feelings were clear in his behavior. If he still had feelings for Mi-Sun he wouldn’t have sent her away. No, Kyungsoo was done with her. And Jae-Eun wouldn’t fall for her tricks.
“You can believe what you want, but he won’t ever forget me.”
“Probably not, and most likely not in a good light. But there is something I want to send you away with.” Jae-Eun shortened the distance between them.
Mi-Sun raised an eyebrow.
“Before you, before your lies, before he loved you, there was me. For longer than you could even imagine. He was mine first.”
Mi-Sun seethed. The look in her eyes were dangerous, but Jae-Eun wasn’t intimidated.
“What’s going on here.” Kyungsoo’s voice came from behind Mi-Sun.
“Oh, Kyungsoo, I was just apolo…” Mi-Sun started.
She trailed off as Kyungsoo passed her without a look and came to Jae-Eun’s side.
“Mi-Sun was saying her goodbyes.” Jae-Eun told him.
The woman was flustered. Especially when Kyungsoo wrapped his arm around Jae-Eun’s shoulders, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
“Are you okay.” His hand came to her belly.
“We’re okay.” Jae-Eun whispered, covering his hand with hers.
“So, your pregnant.” Mi-Sun demanded.
At this point, Jae-Eun was finished with this woman.
“That is none of your business.” She snapped. “Now get the hell out of our building. You no longer work here.”
Mi-Sun whined, “Kyungsoo.”
“You heard her.” He remarked.
Mi-Sun huffed as she turned and stomped to the elevators.
Kyungsoo and Jae-Eun watched as she disappeared.
He turned wrapping his other arm around her, his lips brushed against hers gently.
“She will be in Busan tomorrow. And completely out of our lives.”
Jae shook her head, “Not completely. She will always be a part of our story. But it’s a chapter we can close now.”
“And keep closed… forever.”
“Sounds good to me.”
Kyungsoo released her shoulders, he took her hand in his.
“I have something for you.”
He wrapped his fingers around her wedding band, pulled it from her finger and held it up.
“This is the ring I gave to a woman who was arranged to marry me.” He tossed the ring on her desk and pulled a box out of his jacket. He produced another ring from the box and held it up to her. It was a simple band just like she preferred, silver and rose gold with a row of small diamonds inlayed across the middle.
“This is the ring I had made for the woman I choose the spend the rest of my life with.” He slid the ring on. “I love you, so no more arrangement. Just be my wife.”
Jae-Eun held her hand up and studied the ring.
“I kind of miss my quiet husband who, wasn’t so sappy and emotional.”
Kyungsoo pursed his lips and narrowed her eyes. “It’s all your fault. You opened the flood gates.”
“That I did,” she smiled, “I love you too, real husband.”
She wrapped her arms around his neck taking his lips with complete abandon. He followed, even though her office door was open.
Once they were both breathless, Kyungsoo pressed his forehead against hers.
“Let’s go home.” He whispered.
“Home it is.”
  authors note: It’s been a long ride with this fic. I want to thank everyone that stuck with me though the droughts and all of the love and support I received while writing it. The Arrangement may be over but the Chaebols series is not and Jae and Soo will show up again.

Fireball (M)
Tumblr media
Hoseok smut (one shot)
Both the demise and blessing of your night, with fireball coursing through your veins you find it hard to resist those eyes staring at you from across the room.
Warning: Smut, public sex, drinking, oral (both receiving)
Word Count: 6,281
This idea has been in the back of my mind for a while, but a lot of inspiration came from the feelings I got from watching this
“Oh come on _____ you gotta let loose in some way… PLUS it’s not like you have any other plans for tonight do you?” Actually, you did. Although some might not call the half finished bottle of Chardonnay and Step Up DVD Rental much in regards to importance, for you however, it certainly takes the cake when compared to being surrounded by intoxicated sweaty limbs that tend to wander to places you’d rather not have them go. This tends to be most cases of course, every now and then you actually enjoyed the night but of course you were always in the mood then... unlike now.
“Sung Hee I am just not feeling it right now. I’m going to take a rain check and we can go next Saturday instead yeah?” You look up at the brunette seated across from you, now exhibiting a glint in her eye… uh-oh, you sigh and slouch your head in defeat. You wait for the next thing to leave her mouth, knowing that whatever it was would leave you with no choice but to follow her throughout whatever she had planned tonight.
“Awww, but I already told my dad that we were going to go! He said he wanted me to get along with my seniors, I guess I will just have to tell him that you weren’t up to-”
“Alright fine” you groan, flattening out your pencil skirt while getting out of your chair. She gets up and follows you as you empty out your tray in the trash bin.
“Fine what? If you really aren’t up to it I can just explain-” , “Fine let’s go to whatever place you had in mind” you say through gritted teeth. Sung Hee’s face breaks into a smile and she does a little dance causing you to roll your eyes. You continue to walk towards your office, cursing at your luck. If only it wasn’t you who she had chosen to entertain her power with. With her dad being one of the higher ups in your company it was no surprise that everyone else sucked up to her, being nice enough as to even do some of her job for her. Everyone else except you, whom had decided to stay as far away from her as possible. It was this exact reason however, that she fixed herself to your side and tested her limits so as to keep herself amused.
“Well you see there is this place called Eclipse that just opened on-”
“Cool, I will meet you there” you interrupt, not wanting to waste more time than had already been given. “What time did you want to meet up?” you turn around and face her head on suddenly causing her to stumble backwards. A brief flash of fear flashes in her eyes and at this you lean backwards awaiting her response.
“How about you pick me up at 9 pm, I will text you the address. Bye ____, thanks for having lunch with me, see you later!” Sung Hee quips and turns around, walking down the hall.
You glare in annoyance at the oversway of her hips as she passes her male coworkers. She isn’t exactly the most celibate individual, in fact you had overheard several times from the male coworkers about how good she was at this or that. You never really cared for this information knowing that it could all be talk. You realized soon after that at least some of it had to be true since you had caught her having sex at least four times in the conference room. Each time it was with someone different and you have yet to hear from someone at the company who has not “had their way with her” to put it in their words. Even with all of that, she still managed to seem a little fearful of you. You turn around and smirk, if only she feared you enough to leave you alone. Shaking your head you open your door and enter your office.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Getting home later that day, you groan and throw yourself back onto your bed. Lifting your wrist to your eye level, you find your watch notifying you that you roughly had an hour and forty five minutes until your impending doom. You get up and begin undressing, getting into the shower after you put on your playlist. You calm almost instantly as the music blends with the falling water. Running your fingers through your hair you begin to massage your scalp and sigh as your body relaxes. You wash away the feeling of filth that has collected throughout the day, feeling fully refreshed at the end. You exit the shower while grabbing a towel and begin to dry your body. You open the door allowing the steam that has accumulated in the bathroom to spill out towards your room before making your way to your clothes.
Looking through your closet you find that you don’t even have the slightest idea as to what to wear. It’s not like you knew whether or not she had selected somewhere fancy or more casual. As if almost on cue, your phone dings from the other side of the room. You open it and roll your eyes at what Sung Hee has sent you.
Sent from: Sung Hee             8:03 PM
Here is my address! Make sure to wear something that shows some skin, I still have a reputation to uphold.
Delivered to: Sung Hee          8:04 PM
K, see you soon
You respond and throw your phone onto the foot of your bed before turning around to face your closet. You approach the end where you keep your favorite black dress, pulling it out to admire it in the mirror. You grab your red pumps and make your way to your bathroom. Proceeding to get ready, it doesn’t take long until you find yourself glancing at the clock and find it time to leave. Grabbing your things, you leave your apartment and call the first cab you see. After giving them Sung Hee’s address you notify her that you have left. Staring out the window you find yourself lost in thought as you stare at the stars. You almost don’t even notice the cab stop until a sudden chill gets sent throughout the cab with the opening of the door.
“It took you long enough ____” Sung Hee states, shutting the door behind her. She turns and takes in your appearance “well at least you dressed nicely.” At this you scoff and take in her appearance. She’s wearing a white cocktail dress that rises up so high you see the black lace adorning her hip. Her attention is fixed on the reflection in her mirror as she fixes her makeup, gasping when the cab reaches a speed bump almost causing her to ruin her entire look. A chuckle makes its way out of your mouth and you quickly turn it into a coughing fit when her eyes begin to shoot daggers at you.
“______ have you ever hooked up with anyone at the office?” she asks, beginning to apply her lipstick. At this you shift uncomfortably in your seat, unsure as to where to begin so that the conversation ends quickly.
“Uh-uhm no, why?” you fiddle with your fingers as she turns to look at you in almost shock.
“Really? Like you haven’t thought about it at all?” she pushes, leaning towards you with a almost piercing gaze, searching for any indication that you were lying. You proceed to shake your head, meeting her gaze straight on. She shrugs, fixated back to her mirror and proceeds to clean any overlap she has created with her application.
“Well maybe you should consider it, I mean some of those guys really know what their doing.” she blows a kiss to her pocket mirror before closing it and placing it back into her bag.
“Yeah?” You raise one of your brows at her. “Like who?” you question, curious as to who could possibly be that good that she was recommending that you sleep with them.
“Well for one there’s Dae Hee, Eun Soo, oh, even Sung Ki! well... I guess they are all good, but maybe you should try with Tae Song first since he’d probably be the best first lay” She taps her fingers against her puckered lips in thought, tilting her head slightly as she stares at the roof of the cab. Seeing your opportunity, you take the chance to ask the one question that had made its way to the back of your mind, itching to make its appearance in the conversation.
“Um, not that it is really any of my business and I don’t mean this with any condescending manner... but you used protection when hooking up with them right?” you take in her reaction and turn your attention out the window when she tilts her head questioningly. Oh god, she knew what protection was right? She had to...
“Protection? What do you mean, like mace or pepper spray? Haha you’re silly _____ why would I use that?” At this you shake your head and face palm. You massage your temple before starting to open your mouth, ready to begin your speech on safe sex practices and their importance. Before you can even start however, she begins speaking once again.
“Oh you mean like protection like condoms and stuff?” she chuckles and places her hand on your shoulder as if you were held out on some big secret that would change your life.
“Oh _____, as long as they pull out in time that’s all that matters” your brow furrows in concern as you pull her hand away from your shoulder. You realize that she is only thinking about pregnancy.
“That’s not it-” you begin only to be cut off by the cab driver.
“Here we are” the car slows down, indicating for you to gather your stuff and pay him what’s due. Sung Hee gets out almost immediately after he stops and you throw the fare in his hand before racing after her.
You catch up to her right as she is about to enter, the bouncer giving you a onceover and nodding his head in approval. You grab onto her arm as she twines her way through the crowd of people that have accumulated in the hallway entrance. You step into a big room and instantly let go of Sung Hee, jaw dropping in amazement at the interior of what seemed to be a small building. You certainly had not expected there to be enough room for a balcony, let alone the huge stage they had towards the back of the venue. You spin around, taking in the supporting Tuscan style columns. Pretty classy for a club setting you think, and even then the flashing lights don’t seem out of place. The slight discoloration is doing wonders when placed against the mass of sweaty bodies located on the dancefloor. It almost seems inviting to you and that’s saying a lot.
You spot the bar and walk towards it, finding a stool with no one sitting beside it. You might have found this strange, but after seeing the amounts of booths located upstairs you find it hard to believe that groups of people would rather sit at the bar. You call the bartender over and ask for a shot of tequila, downing it quickly before turning to see if you can spot Sung Hee. Scanning through the crowd you curse at the amount of people that decided to go out in white attire. You almost give up, ready to order another shot before your eyes fixate on someone across the room.
What catches your eye first is not the bright red blazer that adorns his black and white striped button up, but the red colored hair that he runs his fingers through. Although dull in comparison to his blazer, his red hair is flattering against his glowing skin. His sharp features are very attractive and you find yourself shifting in your chair as he brushes his hair back. Your eyes trail down, eyeing the slits that trail dangerously high towards his hip. The tight material does little to mask the tight muscle that flexes as he adjusts his position against the wall. With the sudden movement, your eyes flash back up to his face and you freeze. His gaze pierces yours causing your eyes widen, turning back to face the bar and asking the bartender for three shots of fireball. It’s not like you particularly liked cinnamon flavored whisky, you just wanted to prepare yourself for the slow burn of the night ahead of you.
The first shot burns your throat, depraved from the pleasuring tingles that normally ensue after it makes its way down. You still end up smiling as the warm feeling stays in your chest instead. Glancing around again, you choke on air the moment you find him still staring at you. He licks his lips wickedly and at this you sit up straight, quickly becoming distracted by the glow of your phone. You frown as you notice it’s not anything of importance. Clearing your throat you check your other notifications before placing it back in front of you. The hairs on your arms raise as you sense someone standing behind you. Smirking slightly, you think that maybe he couldn’t stay away after all.
“Jiho’s the name, going home with you tonight is the game” You turn, expecting to see the red head but frown at the sight of tall, built individual with several tattoos adorning his biceps. With the amount of muscle protruding against his polo, you find it hard to believe that he isn’t flexing right now as a means to impress you. When you meet his eyes he smirks and eyes you up and down prompting you to scoff and once again face the bar. This night could not possibly get any worse. “Alright alright, even I admit that that one was a bit too much,” he muses adjusting his pants, “I’m sorry babe but I saw you from across the room and wanted to hear what your voice sounded like. You look absolutely gorgeous by the way, did you come here alone?” Rolling your eyes you massage your forehead before responding.
“Listen boy, if you’re going to talk so much you might as well go chat up that pole over there, I’m sure that it’s tired of only listening to the music.” You nod towards the column that currently supports not only the building structure but a pair of individuals that hold no concern for any wandering eyes that stumble upon their groping forms. At this he chuckles and takes the seat at the bar next to you.
“Alright listen, I don’t really care if you end up going home with me or not but I really just want to dance with you at least once before you end up leaving tonight. How does that sound babe?” You eye him from the corner of your eye as you down your second shot of fireball, grimacing at the burn that makes its way down your throat. You go to grab your third shot and scowl when you find it in his hand, gasping as he quickly downs it and turns to the dancefloor. He quickly faces you again before getting off the stool. “Well if you change your mind I’ll be over there” he signifies by jabbing the air behind him with his thumb.
You shoot a glare and turn back towards the bar signaling the bartender over once again. “Fucking prick” you mutter under your breath, waiting for your turn. As he makes his way towards you, you catch a blur of red out of the corner of your eye and as you open your mouth to order another shot another voice makes its way across the counter to the bartenders ears first.
“Two more shots of what she was drinking please” at this the bartender nods and grabs two shots, serving them quickly before turning his attention elsewhere. Your mouth opens slightly at the sight of the redhead beside you. Your eyes follow his hand as he grabs one of the shots, placing it in front of you.
“What kind of dick takes someone else’s drink? I mean even if you’re friends you still gotta ask don’t you?” You meet his eyes finding them amused with your expression. You giggle and shake your head. Taking your shot glass into your hand you offer to clink it against his. He raises his and the clink of your glasses seems to echo in your ears as you lock eyes. You both bring the glasses up to your lips and knock back the liquor in record time. You find yourself entranced by his gaze and follow the trail of liquor that makes its way down the side of the shot glass and onto his thumb. He brings it up to his mouth and sucks the liquid softly into his mouth while observing your reactions. He smirks at you and only then do you break eye contact, choosing instead to stare at the wall of alcohol before you as your face flushes. You find heat pooling in places that leave you cursing at how good he smells at this proximity. Clearing your throat you face him once again, glancing at his lips briefly before meeting his eyes once again “and what’s your name?”
“Hoseok, and yours?” he leans forward creating a fluttering feeling. “It, it’s ___” you manage to stutter before signaling the bartender to get you some water.
“Well ____, if I didn’t know any better I would guess that not only did you not want to be here to begin with, but that asshole didn’t do much to make your night any better did he?” he nods his head towards the dancefloor where you spot the guy from earlier now dancing with another girl.
“What makes you say that?” you glance downwards, sipping on the water that is placed in front of you.
“The friend you came with left you almost immediately, and for the past hour you have been glancing at your phone non stop” you almost choke on your water. Looking into his eyes you search for any indication that he’s lying but you find nothing but a hint of teasing.
“Haha quiet the creeper aren’t you?” you chuckle, raising your brow at him expecting him to shift uncomfortably in his seat.
Instead, he leans forward, voice dropping an octave lower.
“Ehh, I’d call it more so observant,” he leans forward more, whispering in your ear “then again only in what I want to be.” A shiver is sent down your spine and you squeeze your thighs together. This only minimally soothes the ache that has formed between your legs. Only growing with the almost sinful way he sits back in his chair and gazes at you. Not at your figure, but you yourself as if he already knows what you look like underneath your clothes. As if he has already had his way with you before and he’s hungry for more.
“and what would that be?” you whisper, suddenly feeling as if the air is too thick to breathe. Biting your lip you find that his gaze follows this action causing your breath to get caught in your throat. He opens his mouth and you find yourself slightly leaning forward, eyes attentive on his lips as he licks them before using them to form words.
“Well-”
“____ there you are! Why aren’t you out there dancing? There’s this hot guy and… oh, who’s this?”  Sung Hee’s voice rings behind you. Whatever held you so close to Hoseok snaps and you turn immediately to find the brunette eyeing Hoseok with fluttering eyes while twirling a piece of her hair around her finger. Sung Hee then brushes her hair back bringing a scoff from your mouth as you see just how much cleavage she shows, how typical.
“Hoseok” he says shifting in his seat, sitting up straight. “You must be here with ____ right?” he glances between the both of you as she comes closer to his proximity.
“Well we came here together… but it doesn’t mean we have to go home together either” she says trailing her finger down the broad expanse of his chest. You roll your eyes and call for the bartender, lifting up two fingers to indicate two more shots.
“How about you come dance with me Hoseok, it doesn’t look like ____ is planning to leave that bar stool of hers any time soon” At this you glance at him from the corner of your eyes before downing the amber liquid. He stares at you for what feels like minutes but is probably just a solid couple of seconds before he is pulled away towards the dance floor. You turn, following them with your eyes as they bore holes at the back of Sung Hee’s head. Clenching your jaw you take out your phone and try to distract yourself by looking through your social media. To no avail you find yourself stealing looks at where Sung Hee presses her back into Hoseok as he holds her hips.
Not even noticing when it happens, you find yourself staring at their forms, cursing Sung Hee for deciding to take the one enjoyment of the night you had thus far. You get lost your thoughts as you imagine how things might have ended had she not came back to find you. Had she not just left with someone else you would have gladly allowed yourself to be put at his mercy. Your stomach churns in anticipation as you imagine the way he’d kiss you, the way he’d take off your dress, at the way he would start to kiss his way down your neck making his way to where you wanted him most. You break out of your thoughts as he turns back to find you staring. At this he smirks and turns. Finding yourself no longer facing his back you instead stare at their sides as he tightens his grip on her hips. Sung Hee raises her arms, wrapping them around his neck as she becomes more engrossed in their dancing. Hoseok holds your gaze and then just slightly he begins to move his hips into her, her head falling back against his shoulder as she smiles. If you hadn’t already been staring you wouldn’t have noticed the action, but you cursed your own fate. You bet she feels so ecstatic right now, she must be feeling so lucky to be dancing with someone who moves his hips so sinfully. He begins to run his fingers down her hips, trailing them across her thighs before inching them back up, wrapping them across her middle.
Breaking the gaze, you take your last shot before making your way towards the dancefloor making sure to sway your hips as you do so. Spotting the guy from earlier, you show no hesitance in tapping his shoulder. He turns from the girl he is currently dancing with and smirks eyeing you up and down once again. You cross your arms and turn annoyed as he dismisses the girl, pushing her towards the bar with some cash. She huffs and stalks off  but not before giving you a dirty look.
“Joowon right? I think that it’s time for that dance you wanted” you walk towards him, wrapping your arms around his neck as you push your body flush against him. You begin to sway your hips against his and glance around, only stopping when you lock eyes with Hoseok. You smirk as he eyes the way you begin to roll your body. A grimace makes its way onto your face at the feeling of this guys hands making their way to your ass. At this you turn around, pushing your back against his chest as he places his hands on your hips. You sway your hips in a circular motion, paying specific attention to the way you push them back towards his crotch. At this he groans and you glance up at Hoseok who is now eyeing your temporary partner with venomous eyes. You raise your brow at him when you lock eyes and then proceed to close your eyes when you feel lips tracing your neck. You pretend that instead of this prick, its Hoseok. That it’s his fingers wrapping themselves against your hips just how they would while taking you from behind. You open your eyes, glancing to where Hoseok and Sung Hee are now locking lips. This cracks the facade you find yourself in and you break away from Joowon or whatever his name is, muttering an apology as you fix your dress back in place.
Walking towards them you catch Hoseok’s eye as he pulls away briefly. “Hey Sung Hee, can I borrow Hoseok for a second?” you tap on her shoulder. She turns and looks at you confused “Oh _____, what do you want?”
“Hoseok” you repeat, sneaking a glance at him as he eyes you curiously. Apparently only Sung Hee remains oblivious to the double meaning of your confession because she is not reluctant in her dismissal. She heads towards the direction of the bar stating that she needed another drink anyways. Knowing her she probably thinks that you aren’t a threat, that you stand no chance with the redhead who now currently stands attentive to you.
Grabbing his hand, you pull him behind you as you make your way towards the bathroom. Opening the door you make sure no one else is inside before pulling him in and locking it behind you. Facing the mirror, you bring your eyes to meet his gaze.
“Are you going to take her home?” you spit out, slowing down your words as you continue “she’s not what you think she is, and I wanted to warn you that you’ll probably end up catching some sort of disease from sleeping with her.” A chuckle is released as exchanges looks with you.
“Why do you care?” he questions, brows raising in expectation.
“I don’t” you reply almost immediately, turning to face him head on. He walks forward, hands reaching towards your hips only to brush against them slightly as he places them on the sink behind you. Your body tingles where he touched you, a whimper escaping your lips as he smiles smugly at your response. You glower at him, cursing the heat that begins to pool at his proximity.
“Is that so? It didn’t seem that way when you started to dance with asshat over there” he hisses, pulling your body towards his. You gasp, hands placed against his chest you begin to fist the fabric of his button up as he firmly grabs your hips. You smirk at him, feeling his bulge through his pants.
“I don’t know what you are talking about” you whisper pulling him down by his blazer and meeting his lips with yours. A fire ignites its way throughout your body as he growls, pulling you closer before beginning to tangle his tongue with yours. You moan as he palms at your ass, massaging it with his hands before pulling you up to sit on the sink counter. You whimper as he leaves open kisses down your neck, pushing the sleeves of your dress down so as to have better access to your cleavage. Hoseok hikes your dress up, exposing the fact that you had decided to not wear underwear that night. Noticing this Hoseok chuckles and nudges your legs apart with his knees. You gasp at the sudden rush of cold air against your throbbing cunt. He pecks your lips one, two more times before getting on his knees before you. His eyes lock against your center as he removes his blazer, tossing it to the side.
“Holy shit, you’re this wet already?” he asks, dragging his finger through your slickness. You watch as he places it into his mouth, swirling his tongue around it before releasing it with a pop that seems to send an electric current throughout your nerves. His gaze darkens, looking hungrily at the mess that has accumulated between your legs.
“I’ve been wet since you- fuck!” you gasp out against the feeling of him licking a stripe up your center. He chuckles and pulls back waiting for you to continue, your arousal coating his lips in a sleek shine. “Sin-since before we were interrupted by my shitty coworker” you finish, closing your eyes at the feeling of his mouth against your core once again. He proceeds to tongue at your center and then moves up, circling your clit as he begins to massage your thighs. You cry out as he sucks on your clit the same time he enters a finger. He begins to pump in and out of you while he makes his way back up to your mouth. You grab at your zipper, pulling it down and allowing your dress to pool at your hips. You bite his lip softly, letting it go as he pulls back. His eyes trail down, a groan leaving his throat at the sight of the barely there white lace being the only thing shielding your hardened nipples from the cold. Leaning forwards, he mouths over one of your nipples and you arch into his hold, crying out as he massages your other breast in his hand. He quickly becomes impatient and pulls down the straps, placing open mouthed kisses across your chest. He proceeds to leave love bites, causing you to whimper as his thumb begins to circle your clit. You moan, wrapping your arms around his head, keeping him in place as you struggle to hold onto your sanity. Just when you start to feel your stomach tighten, he adds another finger causing you to gasp out, cursing at the sensation of him reaching new depth. You feel as though you are about to combust, body shaking as you sense yourself reaching your peak.
“Ho-Hoseok, please” you whisper in his ear, pushing him away desperately. He whines softly, pulling away from your neck as he catches his breathe. You step down from the sink counter and slip your dress off, allowing it to fall onto the ground.
Falling to your knees, you begin to undo his belt as he runs his hand through his hair. You unzip his pants and he grabs your hand, leading it to palm against his hardness. You whimper softly at the feeling of him, precum seeping through his briefs. He leans his head backwards as you continue to palm him. You glance up and proceed to pull down his briefs. His cock springs out and your mouth emits a gasp, the length of his cock making your mouth water. You reach forward and take him into your hand, stroking him twice in order to take in his reaction. He bites his lip and you lick a stripe up his length, stopping at the head before bringing it into your mouth. You moan at the heavy feeling of it against your tongue, swirling around the head of his cock before pulling back. You kitten lick the tip and motion for him to remove his shirt. He begins unbuttoning right as you sink your mouth down his length. He curses, hand moving and twining itself in your hair. You chuckle and his cock twitches at the vibrations. Pulling back you allow him to finish taking of his shirt while you softly mouth the side. You sink your mouth down his length once more, bobbing your head up and down at a steady pace as your hands travel across his abdomen. When your eyes meet his hooded gaze he groans “Fuck ___ you’re unreal you know that? You’re driving me crazy”
Your fingers begin to trail the outlines of his abs as his breathing stutters. You pull back, stroking him at a slower pace as you lean up, licking along his abs before standing up and meeting his lips with yours. Pulling back, you tug at his length a little harder. “I know, now why don’t you get on with it and fuck me already?” you whisper provoking him even further. He growls, lifting you back onto the counter before pulling out a condom from the front pocket of his blazer. Rolling it on, he positions himself at your entrance as you grip his shoulders preparing yourself to the best of your ability.
“Are you ready?” He pants, observing your expression and searching for any indication that you didn’t want this anymore. You nod, pulling him into a deep kiss as he begins to move his hips forward. He inches his way slowly, pushing all the way in until he bottoms out. You moan at the filling sensation that temporarily satisfies the ache in your core. Catching your breath you begin to roll your hips causing him to pull back and begin thrusting into you at a steady pace. Gasps begin to fall from your mouth as he grips your hips in place. Swallowing the small whimpers that leave your lips, Hoseok entangles his lips with yours groaning at the feeling of your bare chests against each other. He begins to thrust into you at a faster pace as you feel the coil in your core start to tighten. “Fuck fuck Hoseok, Hoseok ah, I can’t… fu-fuck” you cry out, scratching his back as you graze your fingers down.
“No, you don’t get to come just yet” he grunts and pulls out, turning you so that you face the mirror before you. You wince at the cold feeling of the marble as he pushes your chest down flat against it. Lifting your chin, he leads you to meet his eyes through the reflection.
“I want you to watch, watch just how well your pretty little cunt takes my cock” he snarls, pulling back just until his tip his left inside of you before slamming back into you. You cry out, reaching to hold on anything, whimpering when you find nothing to help you keep you stable. You watch, eyes locking onto his as the slapping of his thighs meeting your ass echoes around you. You struggle to catch your breath, taking each thrust one at a time. He trails his hand down your front, stopping at your clit before beginning to send you over the edge. You fist your hands feeling at your wits end, fingernails indenting little moons into your palm. At the feeling of the coil snapping you scream out his name. He slows down, riding you through your orgasm as you pulse around his length. Your body begins to shudder in overstimulation and you sob as he continues his relentless attack on your mound. Grabbing his hand, you pull it up to your breast encouraging him to grasp it into his hand. He plays with it as you begin to push your hips back into his at a faster rate. You squeeze around him as his hips begin to stutter. “Shit ___, fuck” he groans spilling his load into the condom. He thrusts into you shallowly and you collapse against the counter while trying to gather your breath. Hoseok pulls out and disposes of the condom before pulling up his briefs. Moving your hair out of your face he leans forward and places a gentle kiss against your cheek.
“You were so good babe” he says sincerely, moving back to finish fixing his pants. He grabs a couple of paper towels and wets them in the sink beside you. He reaches for your hip and gently taps your thigh so that you open your legs. You smile tiredly and allow him to clean you up, gasping at the sudden coldness and wincing at the sensitivity that ensues from his actions. “Sorry babe, I think that’s as good as it’s going to be for now” he muses, tossing them into the trash. He grabs your dress and hands it to you, checking to make sure that you are able to dress yourself. Your legs almost give out from under you but you manage to place it back on. Turning to the mirror you begin to fix your disheveled hair and sigh at the sight of your now faded lipstick.
“Well what now babe?” he asks, buttoning his shirt up. You eye him questioningly through the mirror and chuckle, shaking your head in disbelief. He wanted more? Well it’s not like you had any problems with that, if only Sung Hee could see you now. You turn to face him “The club is going to close soon isn’t it?” You both know that there were still about 2 hours until closing time but that didn’t stop you from wanting to leave. At this he only smirks, leaning in towards you to whisper into the shell of your ear.
“Well… who says the night has to end here? Why don’t we head back to mine? It’s not like your shitty coworker is going to notice that you left.”
You nod before leaning up to peck his lips. He smiles in satisfaction as he grabs his blazer before unlocking the door.
Leaving the bathroom, Hoseok grabs your hand and leads you through the crowd. You don’t know what you just signed yourself up for, but boy you could not be more anxious to find out.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you enjoy this. There will not be a sequel.
Chapter 1:
Perhaps one of the most important transitions you would ever have to make, your first day at Sudoxe Academy was undoubtedly nerve racking. You had said your goodbyes to your friends at your previous school, promising to text your two best friends Ha-eun and Yong-hwa as soon as you settled into your new life. Despite this promise, somewhere you knew that being able to travel between social circles would be next to impossible. Still you had to try, right?
           As you walked up to the front of the school you could see all of the other heirs being dropped off in their luxury foreign cars by butlers and maids. You continued to make your way in through the front gate, determined to start off your new life with your head held high.
           This was the plan until you felt a strong force below your feet knock you off balance.
           “Ouch!” You had landed flat on your butt. Thinking that it was one of the heirs trying to test your temper you had settled your mind in that second to only ask that they stop testing out their gifts in the school’s plaza. But when you turned around to face the aggressor what you saw was more than just a prank on you.
           Behind you laid the remnants of the gateway and plaza, and by the street you saw a boy at the center of the destruction. He seemed a bit taller than you but his eyes seemed downcast and angry. It was just then that he began to back away as others began yelling at him.
           “This school doesn’t need your kind! Get out, Freak!” one heir yelled as another grabbed the boy by his collar.
           “The only reason you are even here is because our parents donated too much and the academy decided to use the extra funds for a PR stunt. So don’t go thinking that you are on the same level as us, got it?!” With that the heir threw the boy to the ground and stormed off, the other students following after him.
           Without thinking you walked up to the boy as he sat on the ground almost in tears.
           “Are you alright?” You asked as you extended a hand to him
           For a moment, he looked at your hand as if it were a joke. That was until he saw your concerned look.
           “I’ve been beaten up worse.” He said as he gathered himself, ignoring your support. “I should have knocked that good for nothing heir into last week.” He grunted dusting off his pants.
           “Well I’m glad you didn’t.” You said cheerfully.
           The boy was taken aback.
           “What do you mean?! Are you taking his side? Are you another filthy heir?!” The boy started to raise his voice.
           “I’m glad you didn’t because that would make you the same as him.” As soon as those words escaped your lips the boy became dead silent. “The world is already filled with hate and violence. It’s easier to be mad at someone and lash out, harder to forgive and move on. So, I am very happy you did what you did.” With that you turned on your heels and began toward your classroom until the boy caught your wrist.
           “I’m Do Kyung-soo, one of the new scholarship students here at Sudoxe.” Kyung-soo averted his gaze from yours but kept a strong grip on your wrist.
           “(l/n)(f/n). It’s nice to meet you Kyung-soo! I guess us scholarship students should stick together then right?” You said with a giggle.
           “I’m sorry I made you fall. It was an accident I promise!” Kyung-soo pleaded with you, almost begging for your forgiveness.
           “I’ll admit I was about to give you a piece of my mind but I’ll forgive you this time on one condition.” You said cleverly.
           “Anything!” Kyung-soo replied.
           “From today on we’re friends, okay?” You said with a smile.
           Before you could do anything Kyung-soo began blushing like a girl who was just asked out.
           “…Okay…” he replied. “I think I can do that.”
           “Great!” you exclaimed. “But I think we should hurry to our meeting, though, otherwise we’ll be late”
           Realizing that you had both still been outside the two of your sprinted inside, barely making it to your meeting with your advisors.
           While the other heirs in the halls seemed to give Kyung-soo, and you through association, some pretty dirty looks all you could focus on was getting to know your new friend better.
           You soon found out that he liked to cook, although he was still very new at it, and that he loved foreign films. As the lunch bell rang you and Kyung-soo had finally finished your tour of the grounds and reached the awkward end of a conversation about what powers you both had.
           “I have strength which I can project around me. Like earlier when I made the ground shake.” He said as he looked away, almost ashamed. “But my power has always been unpredictable… I thought being given the chance to come to this academy might show me how to control my gift. Though at this point it seems more like a curse.” Kyung-soo said defeated.
           “I think you just need some encouragement in the right direction.” You said reassuringly. “My powers used to run wild as well until I just learned to control them. I’m sure we can do that for you as well.” With that you gave Kyung-soo a reassuring pat on the back
           “Thanks (f/n). What about you? What are your powers” Kyung-soo said with curiosity.
           “Me?” you asked playfully. “Record is the little name I’ve given it. It’s the ability to recreate powers I see and make them my own. The drawback is that it has backfire effect that gets stronger the longer I use it.” You said. “The backfire doesn’t happen when I use my power for small things but then again I haven’t been in too many situations where I’ve had to use my power all out.” You explained.
           “So… does that mean you can copy skills you see on TV? Or what about my strength?” Kyung-soo asked with curiousity.
           “I have to recall the memory of when I saw the power, so the only power I can really remember from TV is when I saw someone save a victim of a building collapse on the News. I can mimic that Healing power as a result.” You demonstrated as you walked over to the wilted flowers in your new classroom.
           As your hand began to glow, almost immediately the flowers were brought back to life.
           “Woah.” Kyung-soo stared in awe. “What about mine?” He asked.
           “Unfortunately, I wasn’t watching when you wrecked the plaza this morning” you said shrugging your shoulders.
           Kyung-soo looked down at the ground, still clearly apologetic about this morning’s incident. Reading the mood you stood up grabbing his hand.
“Want to go eat?” you asked happily.            As you both walked out into the hall, amongst the gossiping around you (obviously about the two new non-heirs in the class), you two found yourselves in the middle of a blizzard.
           “Why is it so cold in here?” You wondered until you saw ahead of you a student wielding daggers of ice and another student with fists of fire.
           Before you could even think you locked eyes with the fire wielding student ahead of you. Knowing the smirk he gave as he locked eyes with you, you stood stuck in place as he hurled a fireball past the ice wielding boy, straight towards you.
           Your hands began to glow and streaks of ice emerged from your feet until the ice wielding boy dove in front of you knocking the fireball back at the other student. Immediately your hands stopped glowing and you almost fell backwards until the mysterious man of ice caught you.
           “Thank you.” You said shyly
           Just as you were about to get the mystery man’s name, the fight was broken up by a teacher. While the students received a light scolding, the teacher authority seemed to reflect the power each of the heirs held over the school and its rules.
Fire boy across the way gave you a dirty look and marched off with his crew in tow and you redirected your attention toward the man who had shielded you.
“(f/n)! Are you alright?!” Kyung-soo asked worriedly as he forced himself between you and the mystery man.
“I’m fine thanks to you” You said as your gaze caught your savior. “May I ask your name?”
“It’s Min-seok. Kim Min-seok.” He said. “But I should be apologizing to you not accepting your thanks. It’s my fault you got caught in that mess.”
“It’s alright I’m not hurt at least so don’t worry!” You said trying to change the topic.” But still thank you anyway I didn’t think anyone would jump in front of me like that.
Kyung-soo hit your arm, signaling his offense.
Laughing off Kyung-soo hit you refocused on Min-seok. “Why were you two fighting though? And who was that other student?” you asked curiously.
“That jerk was Park Chan-yeol. Sudoxe’s very own resident D-bag. His parents are prominent figures in the government and thusly he himself a prominent heir at the school. He was picking on some of the non-legacy students in the other class and I couldn’t just stand by and watch anymore.” Min-seok explained. “He probably sent that fireball at you because he knows you’re a scholarship student, or more specifically a non-legacy student” Min-seok said in softer voice. “Not that non-legacy students deserve that.” Min-seok caught himself, worried that you and Kyung-soo might take offense.
“Hahaha.” You laughed as you looked at Min-seok. “I’m glad to know that there are people like you left in the world.” You said with a loving smile.
Min-seok immediately turned beet red with blush.
“Uhhh…. Err. Yeah…. So… T-thab You..” Unable to get his words straight Min-seok struggled to keep eye contact with you.
Before Min-seok could finish Kyung-soo butted his way into the conversation.
“Thanks for your help Kim Min-seok, but we should get our lunch before they run out.” With that Kyung-soo began to pull you away.
As you were pulled away by Kyung-soo you waved back to Min-seok who was still beet red.
“Thanks again” you mouthed as you were dragged to lunch by Kyung-soo.
           “Yo Min-seok!” Jong-dae said as he ran up to Min-seok, still waving at (f/n). “You okay man? I heard from Sehun what happened. I can’t believe you really picked a fight with Chan-yeol.” Jong-dae exclaimed.
           Unable to utter a word Min-seok just stared as (f/n) disappeared among the crowd. Still star struck by her smile and attitude Min-seok grabbed Jong-dae’s shoulder.
           “Jong-dae, do you know what class someone named (f/n) is in?” he asked hastily.
           “Well if she’s like the rumor says and is one of the new scholarship students then she’d be in 2-A with us… and Chan-yeol.” Jong-dae said nervously.
           Not seeming to hear the last part Min-seok immediately went into your classroom and saw that the two empty desks in front of and beside Jong-dae’s seat were now filled with books with a bag that had the names Do and (l/n) written on them.
           Running his hand over your desk, the beet red blush returned to his face along with a newfound smile upon his lips.
           “(l/n)(f/n) huh…” Min-seok, unable to contain his excitement, turned back to Jong-dae who seemed confused at Min-seok smile. “Jong-dae switch seats with me.”
Hope you enjoyed this chapter! (Sorry it was really bad but I tried)
