🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?
🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…
🍍: I love soulmate AUs/vampire AUs/demon AUs, basically fantasy AUs! The crazier the premise, the better imo 😌 lol. An android who falls for a human because the power of love? Or a house full of vampires who wanna keep you because...the power of love (and because you taste yummy) and then they fight over you because vampires? GREAT I LOVE IT A THOUSAND KISSES. Do I have beef with any AUs? LOL NO but I personally don't enjoy reading divorce and high school and more "realistic" AUs I guess. I've already been to school, I've already been cheated on, I don't need to read about it too 😭😭
🍐: Hmmm I don't think so? I don't think it's that deep lol sometimes I wish more writers embraced Jimin's slytherin side though 😏😏😏

My Heart's Home (m) | pjm | series masterlist
Tumblr media
Hi, and welcome to Bora Ranch!
At Bora Ranch you will rediscover who you are, reconnect with your sister, and your childhood friend, Park Jimin, that will stir old feelings back. There's a lot of ups and downs, a lot of heartbreak, misunderstandings, what ifs, bad timing, but in the end, you will know what truly makes your heart beat, and where your heart's home is.
It's a story that will take you on a heartbreaking journey to find out what love is and the meaning of 'home', coming home and finding love. There's a lot of angst in it, I'd call it HEALING ANGST. Everything will be good in the end! Just have to go through a lot of heartbreak before the sun truly shines. There's a lot of soulmates vibes/undertones in it, and it's a lovestory at it's core. It's very romancey (Why do I suddenly feel like I wrote a YA but with mature language???).
This story is HEAVLY inspired by McLoed's Daughters (both the world/setting/plot), some plot points follow that story, but most of it doesn't.

“It will take some time To find your heart And come back home You could walk for miles Cross every river And find your not alone ‘Cos I'll be there” - From McLeod’s Daughters theme song

🐴 Summary: You’d never thought you’d step foot back at the ranch– a place you used to call home a long time ago. When you are forced to go back, reconcile with your sister and a certain childhood friend that you had long forgotten, will sparks reunite? 🐴 Pairing: jimin x reader (main), jungkook x reader (only happens once in the first chapter)*, jungkook x OC (jessi), namjoon x OC (jessi), yoongi x hoseok, namjoon x oc, seokjin x oc, taehyung x oc *I also want to clarify some things about the tags/pairings! Jungkook x reader only happens once, it is crucial for the sake of the plot, but please don't let that stop you from reading it (I take it you want to read it because of Jimin x reader). Jimin x reader is the main couple! 🐴 Characters: female reader (she’s more like an OC, but isn’t mentioned by name and no “y/n”), Jimin, Jungkook, Namjoon, Yoongi, Hoseok, Seokjin, Taehyung and four female original characters. 🐴 AUs: ranch!au, slice of life!au, childhood friends to lovers!au, cowboy!au, soulmate!au 🐴 Genres: smut, humor, fluff, slow burn and angst (yes, it’s got everything lol!) 🐴 Rating: mature/explicit/R18 – this is mature/explicit content, so minors, please do not interact! 🐴 Word count: 230k (epilogue excluded) 🐴Disclaimer: I do not own BTS or know them personally and this work of fiction is purely fictional and for entertainment purposes only. The actions and personalities described in the story do not reflect those of BTS— it’s just fiction. Also, if you would kindly read the tags/warnings before reading, that would be lovely: and if you don’t like whatever is described in the tags, just hit return and find something else to read. Thank you 🌸 🐴 Warnings/tag: will be tagged for each individual chapter. But it does contain sexual themes, smut and a lot of sexual tension and a hell of a lot of angst! Like series is an emotional rollercoaster ride, it will leave you both happy, sad, frustrated, mad, angry and oh so in love. All through the series. You have been warned, lol. 🐴 Status: completed (the epilogue is in the works!) 🐴 Fancy reading on AO3? It is cross-posted there! 🐴 Do you want to see the book cover (there's a teaser too)? [it's here] 🐴 Author’s note: this series is heavily inspired by the TV show McLeod’s Daughters. Some plot points will feel familiar, while others won’t (because I don’t follow that story structure to a tee). But If you love that show that I do, I’m 100% sure you’ll love this story too! Also, I don’t expect people to really be interested in this… this is more of a story about coming home, finding home, finding love and such… and I don’t know if you want to read that sort of thing? But I fucking love it! ✨

part nine: the plan, the failed plan and the distractionsㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ   ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ   ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ  ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ㅤ   previous. next. masterlist
  xxi. the plan
you supposed it was some sort of karma for your and jungkook’s poor judgement to be put in this position. the two of you confirmed over text that there was a long overdue talk needed between you guys, but it’d been over a week now. every time it seemed like there would be a spare moment, something would always find its way between the two of you.
one random thursday afternoon, you ran into jungkook coming back from the riding trails with leo. you thought this was your chance, until namjoon came trailing behind them. then, at the saloon the next night, jungkook was whisked away by a last minute shift coverage at work. it was growing frustrating, trying to identify an opening in both of your schedules.
“who are you texting? you look troubled,” asked yoongi, trying to look at your phone from over your shoulder.
you instantly put your phone down on the table. “stop being nosy.”
“if it’s jungkook, just say so, so we can all stop stressing about you,” namjoon interjected from across you.
it was now nearing the end of july, which meant the midsummer fair was around the corner. the last of preparations weren’t difficult, but you figured namjoon could need the help. everyone else seemed to be working or, in jungkook’s case, preparing for the show jumping competition at the fair. it was apparent that he was rusty and was training last-minute. meanwhile, you and yoongi were recruited to help namjoon with miscellaneous tasks.
“yeah, he hasn’t had time because he’s been hanging out with you,” yoongi said, as he wrapped some ribbon around a prize basket.
you ignored yoongi, too focused on your current text conversation with jungkook. he and namjoon exchanged looks, then sighed in unison. you raised an eyebrow at the two of them.
“so, you guys are going to the fair together, right?”
taken aback, you replied, “what do you know about that?”
this was the first time it came up and was definitely not something talked about between you and jungkook, especially with the latter’s insistence that you were simply just friends. now, of course, the situation was vastly different. there was no way to shake off the kiss you shared a week ago - though neither of you acknowledged it over text and only implied it was to be talked about in person.
“enough to know that you should just ask him. it’s so obvious that something is going on between the two of you and,” namjoon paused, “you guys took an awfully long time to smoke outside last week at the saloon.”
at this, your face turned cherry red and you threw a roll of tape in namjoon’s direction.
meanwhile, yoongi was chuckling under his breath, as he let out a low whistle when namjoon just barely dodged your attack. “look, y/n, we’re your friends. we’re also jungkook’s friends. if there’s anyone who can help, it’s us.”
this would have been another excellent example of why you needed some female friends. it was difficult to take namjoon and yoongi seriously, looking like they were capable of doing nothing but cause trouble with their matching vexatious smiles. you rolled your eyes, realizing you had no choice.
“fine. fine! i have feelings for jungkook, are you happy?” you admitted through gritted teeth.
even though confiding in these two idiots was the last thing you wanted to do, that was actually the first time you were able to admit it aloud. up until now, you’d endured teasing from some of your friends, who were insistent on your behalf. you mostly just kept your mouth shut, since you’d been toying with the idea in your head without confirmation. after several missteps and mixed signals, you were finally letting yourself speak the truth.
yoongi’s expression remained unfazed. “okay, that was obvious.”
“hey! that took a lot out of me to confess,” you shot back.
little did you know, jungkook was going through the exact same thing as you. unfortunately, it was one of the busiest times of the year. he was the reigning show jumping champion and paid his entrance fees for the competition months in advance, so there was no way he couldn’t show up. it just so happened that life kept getting in the way, but he was trying.
“he got sad when i told him that you’ll be helping me today, since he’s busy with work,” namjoon remarked, giving you a pointed look.
even with the boys rooting for you and on your side, life still proved to be a major obstacle itself. it was growing almost comical, the way the next few days would pan out. like in the months, every time it seemed as though you and jungkook got close to confronting your feelings, something always got in the way.
when the next day rolled around, you thought today would be the day. as jungkook dropped off jiwon at the farmhouse, he promised that the two of you would talk when he came back later that day for her. it was no problem - except for the heavy feeling in your stomach that you carried for the entire day.
“what’s wrong?” jiwon asked, tilting her head slightly at you.
there was a certain determination when it came to being the best babysitter in the world and most of it had to do with impressing jungkook. you loved jiwon and you wanted to show him that you were good with her. you decided that there was nothing kids loved more than sweets, which is how you and jiwon were stationed in your kitchen making homemade ice cream.
to your left, she wore one of your aprons and it came down to her knees. jiwon stood on a step stool, as she helped you whisk ingredients together and you didn’t notice that you’d been frowning at your phone for the last few minutes. you were reviewing your emails related to the farm, as business was picking up the more established you were.
you smiled, shaking your head at her. “nothing, sweetie. just work.”
at that moment, you heard the front door open. you knew it was jungkook, since it was coming up on the end of the day and he never knocked. he announced his presence, voice echoing throughout the big house.
“hey, it’s me,” he called and you could catch a glimpse of him from where you stood.
jungkook approached closer, hands in the pockets of his jeans. you could tell he just finished riding from his helmet hair, flattening out his jet black locks and he still somehow made it look good. he raised his eyebrows at the sight of your kitchen, where various bowls were sprawled out alongside bags of sugar and fresh milk in jugs.
“we’re making ice cream!” exclaimed jiwon, grinning from ear to ear.
“oh, yeah? nice,” he nodded and glanced at you, impressed.
you said, “we’re just about done. jiwon, why don’t you pop the bag into the freezer? it’ll be ready for tomorrow.”
she nodded with enthusiasm, following your exact instructions. it was a pleasure watching over her - despite her antics at the beach, you saw that she was genuinely a good kid.
“you did such a good job with her,” you whispered to jungkook, as the two of you watched jiwon clean up without being asked. “so polite, so bubbly.”
“i know,” jungkook answered, a proud smile stretching across his lips.
this was the most that you and jungkook had been able to talk in person since the kiss. it was hard to ignore the beating of your heart when you stood next to him, as it only consumed you the longer he was there. his eyes flickered back to you and a meaningful gaze was exchanged.
  then, your phone rang.
you furrowed your eyebrows, wondering who could be calling you so late into the afternoon. when you took a look, you saw that it was a vendor from the other part of the country. you sighed, biting your lip.
jungkook noticed. “you have to take that, don’t you?” he sounded disappointed, but he didn’t let it show.
“i do, i’m sorry,” you responded, walking over to where your phone was on the counter.
he waved you off. “don’t be sorry. is it going to take a while?”
“yeah. . .” nothing was for sure, but the business calls you took ranged anywhere from five minutes to an hour and you didn’t want to keep jungkook waiting for you.
you picked up the call, but your focus went elsewhere when you felt a hand at the small of your back. jungkook had taken several steps towards you, chest to your shoulder. your chest buzzed with electricity and you looked up at him through your eyelashes, as the words the person on the other end went in one ear and out the other.
“i’ll see you later,” he whispered into your ear and something about his tone left goosebumps on your arm. it was an immediate flashback to the kiss you shared the week before, where his whispered dare pushed you beyond your limits.
jungkook knew it, too, judging by the satisfied smirk on his lips. the two of you stared at each other momentarily, just standing in each other’s presence and relishing the spark. you cleared your throat, snapping out of the daze when the person on the phone asked you a question.
he then took a step back, as you mouthed the words “i hate you” to him. jungkook chuckled and walked over to where jiwon was, innocently collecting her belongings from the living room. the last thing he mouthed back was “book club.” despite the bad timing of the call, you couldn’t help but smile at him.
  xxii. the failed plan
it was no longer funny. there was nothing to laugh at when it came to your luck this week - though, you caught taehyung and seokjin were secretly fist bumping at being relieved of book club and you had to have a small giggle at that. thankfully, it was just a malfunction of the fire alarm and there was no real danger at the saloon. the only danger was you, about to burst at any second for another stolen opportunity to be alone with jungkook.
like the two of you agreed, book club was intended to be d-day. it was somehow the only block in your schedules where you could be together, since work and training with leo came before and after. it was supposed to be a quick sneak away from the main group during the session, in order for the two of you to have a talk.
you were the last to arrive at the saloon where the meeting was taking place, twenty minutes into the season.
“you’re late,” yoongi scolded, but your eyes were trained on jungkook, who broke out in a wide smile the instant you walked in.
at the same instant, a painful blare attacked your ears. you brought your hands up to shield them from the sharp ache, as the boys and the other patrons got to their feet. confused, you looked around.
  “FIRE!”
the establishment was small and it didn’t take long for everyone to scramble out into the street. hoping to not get trampled, you tried taking your time, but there were too many people at once.
“jesus, are you just going to stand there?” a voice asked and you felt an arm snake around your back, supporting you from teetering over amidst the sudden movements of others around you.
it was jungkook, who rolled his eyes at you and gave you a gentle push forward, encouraging you to move. you followed his lead, as his arm moved from your back to reaching for your free hand. he grabbed it, clasping his grip to keep you steady and he successfully led you out of the building.
you said, “i was trying not to fall.” you were nearly hugging jungkook’s arm, clutching onto it with your whole body like your life depended on it. it wasn’t that serious of a situation, of course, but this was an excuse to hang onto his muscular body.
“yeah, whatever, you would’ve gotten your face stepped on without me,” jungkook quipped, opening the door for you without letting go of your hand.
the two of you found your friends at the back of the crowd, walking over. you realized that you were still holding hands with jungkook and upon reaching the boys, snatched your hand back fast. your hands went cold when you did and you didn’t like it, but it was hard to ignore the way your cheeks went hot when the two of you walked over, holding hands.
if anyone noticed it, it was hoseok, who sounded too happy for someone who just had their fire alarms set off. “there you guys are,” he sang, clapping his hands together and looking between you two.
“uh, why aren’t you worried right now?” you pushed the feeling of jungkook’s hand in yours away, furrowing your eyebrows at hoseok.
he responded, “huh? oh, there’s not actually a fire. the alarms malfunctioned.”
even though he wasn’t the owner or even an employee, you could make out namjoon talking to his dad a few feet away, likely explaining the situation. somehow, it looked like jungkook got roped into that conversation, now also nodding and speaking to mayor kim alongside namjoon. you sighed. there went your chance.
you walked over to where taehyung and seokjin were. “what a waste,” you grumbled under your breath.
“oh, you sound like yoongi. he was also looking forward to book club, too!” seokjin commented.
on the other hand, taehyung took note of your expression and laughed. “yeah, y/n, you seem real disappointed about book club,” he glanced over at jungkook as he spoke and you could tell he knew why you actually came.
“i don’t think the next meeting is until after the fair, what a shame. . .” seokjin mused, tapping a finger on his chin.
“right, the fair,” you said, kicking a pebble. it was difficult to think about the midsummer festival coming up, with all that was on your plate.
without everything on your mind, you should have been looking forward to the fair. it used to be your favourite part of the summer when you were younger and it was always your and jungkook’s place. you wanted to experience the same freeing bliss you associated with the fair and the summer season, nostalgic for simpler times. instead, it was lost in the shuffle with the farm, jungkook and life in general.
“are you going to ask jungkook?” taehyung’s question was sudden and it made your eyes widen.
  “uh, well - “
taehyung smirked. “jungkook’s been telling me since you got here that he wanted to take you, if you didn’t know.”
reflecting on the events of the past two months or so, it was something you definitely did not know. then again, between all the mix-ups and unclear communication, you didn’t know anything until the kiss with jungkook.
“say, taehyung,” you began, pondering deeply. “did jungkook ever say anything else about me?”
“just that he thinks he’s in love with you, nothing much.” it was seokjin who interjected, smacking his forehead. “he says you’re his first love and that he thinks it’s fate that you came back to the valley - i was going to ask you what even happened between the two of you for a falling out to have occurred.”
  your jaw dropped. “what?”
  “nothing.”
“no, i heard what you said!” you argued, in disbelief that seokjin just said that aloud.
he replied, “then, why are you asking?”
because you were shocked. love was a strong word and it stuck to you like invisible tape. this was your childhood best friend you were talking about and although the kiss you shared was otherworldly, you stood frozen when you contemplated the idea of being in love with him. however, the taste wasn’t foreign in your mouth. you thought about how much you cared for each other, how in sync your energies and personalities were, how you could never get rid of the butterflies in your stomach whenever you saw him.
taehyung groaned and shook his head at seokjin, who held his hands up in defense. “i mean, well, yeah. jungkook may have said something like that.”
“wait, what?” you then turned to taehyung.
“that’s really all he’s ever said about you. talks my ear off about you,” he slowly spoke, looking over your shoulder as if jungkook were to pop in at any second and deck him for exposing their conversations.
you were stumped. “that’s really all he’s said about me?” you narrowed your eyes, thinking of the time jungkook suggested that you ask out taehyung. “so, he never mentioned taking me to the fair as your date?”
taehyung’s eyes widened. “me? no, he’s never said such a thing!”
“that little shit,” you spat, squeezing your eyes shut. “he told me to ask you out! it bothered me for so long, i thought he didn’t like me!”
“what?” he asked, fighting back a laugh. “are you serious? no way, he definitely panicked.”
  “yes.”
then, both seokjin and taehyung fell victim to a fit of laughter. there were still others outside of the saloon, gathered and talking about the situation. they looked at you three strangely, including jungkook who gave you a questioning look from afar. you could only glare at him and he cut back to his conversation, as if he knew he was caught. meanwhile, the other two men were still doubled over, clutching their ribs, and you could only swallow your frustrations.
  xxiii. the distractions
at first, you thought it was only coincidence after coincidence that kept you and jungkook apart. by the next week, you were certain there was a greater plot against you that prevented your schedules from lining up. you also had a hunch that your friends were in on this plot.
the midsummer festival was now days away and you were growing anxious that you wouldn’t be able to catch jungkook before. you were really, really hoping that you and him could talk things out and have the day to yourselves. unfortunately, it looked as though you were going to run out of time.
it was getting to the peak of the season that required you to be working longer hours and you rarely had a free moment to yourself. on your first day off in a while, you were determined to finally track down jungkook. except, your friends had other plans.
“oh, good morning guys. what brings you here?”
you realized that you had yet to invite any of your friends over to the farmhouse. they preferred to gather at a community space like the saloon and rarely to anyone’s own house - mostly because none of the boys wanted to partake in the cleaning that inevitably came with hosting people. you had yet to visit any of the boys’ houses, apart from jungkook and taehyung. that’s why you were taken aback to find jimin and hoseok at your front door step.
“hey!” hoseok greeted and you immediately grew suspicious at his high-pitched tone. “are you busy right now?”
you’d just texted jungkook if he had any free time today and he had yet to reply, so you figured that you had time to kill. you noticed that they were both holding. . .paddleboards? you stared at them blankly, but shook your head.
jimin cleared his throat. “we should go to the beach.”
“the beach?” you asked, looking up at the grey skyline. it was definitely going to rain and you’d been prepared for this rainy day all week, adjusting your tasks around the farm for the weather, so you were sure it was not going to be good weather.
hoseok and jimin exchanged looks, before the former spoke again. “yeah! paddleboarding!” hoseok exclaimed, holding up a bright red paddleboard.
“guys, it’s going to rai - “ you started. after feeding the livestock, you were looking forward to spending the day indoors with a book.
“ - great, we’ll meet you in the car!”
and before you could say another word, the two dashed off to where jimin’s mustang was parked in your driveway. thinking back to seokjin’s surprise party, you knew something was up. but, you decided to humour them - a mistake you would pay for the next few hours. regeardless, you had the day off and paddleboarding did seem fun. you sighed and retreated back into your house to change into more appropriate attire before meeting them outside, wondering what they were up to.
to no surprise, the chaos didn’t stop there. for one, today was the day you realized you were horrible at paddleboarding. you spent the majority of the time flailing around. second, it started raining, as you predicted.
“run!” screamed jimin, once it started pouring.
huffing and puffing, you used hoseok’s stupid paddleboard as a shield from the rain, as the three of you ran from the water and back to the car. you opened the door to the passenger seat, thinking you were safe. your heart nearly leaped out of your throat when you glanced at the rearview mirror and found seokjin politely sitting in the backseat.
“jesus fuck!” you yelped, jumping out of your seat. “where did you come from?!”
suspiciously enough, neither hoseok or jimin were shocked to find seokjin randomly sitting in the car.
“hey guys! wanna get lunch?” seokjin was too happy-go-lucky for you to dismiss - or maybe it was the fact that he just gave you a real-life jumpscare.
“jin hyung, buddy! nice to see you!” jimin waved happily, as if seokjin didn’t just break into his car. “what a nice surprise. i’m down for lunch, what about you guys?”
you blurted out, “what’s going on here?” you looked at the three of them.
“how’s pizza?” hoseok ignored you, also smiling too wide for comfort.
you were suddenly too distracted to answer, as you patted down your tote bag for your phone. wide-eyed, you began checking your seat and below your feet for any sign of it. while this was happening, the boys seemed to be in agreement without you and as you were looking, jimin already backed out of the parking space.
without your phone, you couldn’t see if jungkook replied to you. did you even bring it with you in the first place? jimin noticed your panicked expression and asked what was wrong.
“my phone. . .” you mumbled, but figured you would be able to grab it after lunch.
you didn’t have time to question seokjin’s sudden appearance because you were worrying about your phone the entire time you and your friends gathered for pizza. however, it was clear that they were trying to distract you the entire time, seemingly throwing more suggestions left and right for what other activities you could partake in during the day. some of them proved too nonsensical to even consider.
deep in thought, the four of you sat by the window of the local pizza place in the valley, while the others talked away.
“hey, why don’t we go for a hike?” suggested seokjin, despite the fact that it was still pouring outside.
jimin then piped in. “or, we could go see a movie!”
“there’s no movie theatre in town, where did you even get that idea?” you responded to jimin, blinking slowly.
then, a buzzing noise interrupted the conversation. it was hoseok’s and he glanced at the screen, eyebrows raised.
“oh! looks like the theatre is closed - y/n, why don’t we take you home?”
and then, as quick as you were pushed out the door, the boys pushed you back out into jimin’s car. you weren’t sure where the need to rush suddenly came from, considering it was obvious that the boys were trying to keep you in one place for whatever reason.
everytime you tried to speak up with a question about their behaviour, someone shot you down by changing the topic entirely. the group had already talked about aliens, princess diana, baseball, and the mandela effect - this was all just during the short car ride home, nontheless. the amount of other random conversation changers throughout the day was endless. you lost count of the amount of conversation topics that were brought up in order to distract you.
“are you reading off a list?” you questioned hoseok, who seemed to be sneaking a look at his phone every time he wanted to interrupt you. you thought you saw the words ‘list of conversation starters’ at the link of the website.
the car came to an abrupt stop, giving hoseok an opportunity to dodge you once again.
jimin jumped in before hoseok could reply. “look! we’re here! have a nice day, y/n,” he said, rushed in all one breath. you sighed aloud, seeing it as a lost cause.
as the car came to a stop in front of the farmhouse, you unbuckled your seatbelt and promptly whipped around from the passenger seat to face the boys. they all jumped at once at your sudden movement. you narrowed your eyes.
“i don’t know what you guys are up to, but i don’t like it,” were the final words you said, as they all pretended to not hear you and waved you goodbye with smiles plastered on their faces.
you grumbled some profanity under your breath when you exited the vehicle and to your luck, the rain mostly stopped. it was now mid-afternoon now and most of your day was gone. the first thing you did was make a beeline indoors, to the living room, where you remembered leaving your phone.
when you arrived indoors, as if on cue, your phone began ringing. at this point, you were well prepared to tell off either namjoon, yoongi or taehyung. stalking over, you were pleasantly surprised to see jungkook’s name flash on the screen. in fact, you were so taken aback that you froze, forgetting where you were and what was happening for a second.
shoulders tensed, you snapped out of it and slowly picked up your phone. pressing the ‘accept’ button felt as if you were setting off an explosive.
“hello. .?” you said, wincing when your voice cracked ever so slightly.
a soft chuckle on the other end made you bite your lip. “hey, bunny,” jungkook’s voice filled your ears.
“hi. what’s up?” you asked, praying to the heavens above that he was calling you because he wanted to see you. you would have done a full sprint to his house at this point, if he confirmed your suspcions.
  he said, “you’re home now?”
you played with a random lock of hair, having now sat yourself on the counter and swinging your legs like a school girl. “i am,” you tried keeping your voice steady.
  “come out to the back.”
it took everything in you to not scream. he didn’t say more, only hung up the phone after his request. that’s when the panic settled into your stomach.
in a hurry, you speed walked to the bathroom, where you took a full-body scan of yourself. your hair had dried funny after going paddleboarding, salt clumping the strands together. the outfit you wore was a ratty old t-shirt and there was no time for you to run upstairs and change without it being obvious you were changing clothes just to come see jungkook. rapidly, you threw your hair up into a bun and splashed water on your face to snap you out of your anxiety.
then, like nothing, you sauntered casually out the back door. from a distance, you could hear your name being called.
you followed the voice, realizing it was leading to the old tractor garage. confused, you approached closer and were surprised to hear the sound of whirling. as soon as you stood in front of it, you saw that the door was no longer stuck halfway and it slowly raised up, revealing jungkook on the inside.
“surprise,” he smiled, though you could tell he was nervous by the way his hands were shoved into his pockets and he rocked back and forth on his heels.
your jaw dropped. “you fixed it. you fixed the door.”
the tractor garage had been the bane of your existence since moving into the farmhouse, with all the other minor repairs being covered by the man in front of you. you’d attempted to examine it multiple times and figured you didn’t have time for the next little while, despite knowing that you could use the money from selling off the tractor.
like a guardian angel, jungkook stood in front of you, saving you one way or another. this was the first time in over a week that you were able to get a good look at him. he took off his stetson hat once you came closer, revealing his bashful face. dressed in jeans and a flannel rolled up to reveal his tattoos, this was the first time you could admit that he was the source of your racing heart.
“i thought it would make up for all the bullsht i’ve put you through these past two months,” he said, looking down at his feet.
you ignored jungkook and instead, walked right up to him to pull him into a hug. you weren’t sure what overtook you to do such a thing, but he immediately wrapped his arms around you and you melted right into him. jungkook’s addictive scent of sage and leather was unmistakable and you could have indulged in it for forever.
although it was nice to have the garage fixed and have its annoyance wiped off of your to-do list, you were more so touched by jungkook’s gesture to surprise you. like he always did, even when you were kids, he always made it a point to make you smile.
in a low whisper, you said, “you sent those idiots to drive me around town, didn’t you?”
“did they really come up with paddleboarding? i told them to distract you, i didn’t think they would come up with such crazy ideas,” he chuckled into your hair.
it was difficult to pull away, but it was made easier when jungkook grabbed your hand when he did so. locking his fingers around yours, you thought time stopped for a moment.
“i’m sorry about everything,” you said, brushing a loose strand of hair away from his face with your free hand.
his cheeks tinted pink ever so slightly. “it’s been hard to find time to talk - but, would it be too much to ask if you could wait just a little bit longer?”
“sorry?” you responded, confused. the two of you had been going back and forth for nearly two weeks, trying to make time to sit down in-person with one another and he still wanted to delay it? even though you were standing right in front of him, on your day off?
“come to the fair with me. as my date.”
when you were a kid, amber valley meant a lot of things to you. of course, you loved your grandpa more than anything in the world. retreating to the sleepy town away from the city lights also meant two constants: your best friend and the wonders of a festival that celebrated your favourite season. you thought you would never see it again through the years. today, jungkook gifted you both these things once more.

Yoongi pressed you against the wall beside the front door of the home he shared with his boyfriends.
His lips moved with yours in perfect harmony, your soft moans muffled by his tongue as it met yours. Your hands rest on his shoulders, nails digging into them when he bites your bottom lip before pulling away.
“Are you sure you have to go?” He asks one more time as your fingers lace with his.
“I do. I need to change before tonight, and I have a few errands to run that can’t wait any longer,” you explain.
Yoongi frowns before sighing heavily.
“I wish you’d just move in with us,” he pouts.
You giggle, shaking your head. “We’d never leave the bed, Yoon.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing,” he smirks, dodging the light smack you aimed his way.
“I’m just saying.”
“I’m just saying,” you mock, sticking your tongue out at him before turning to grab your purse off the coat rack. You make sure your phone and wallet are in there before you kiss Yoongi one more time on the lips.
“I’ll see you tonight,” you promise as you head out the door with one last wave.
Hoseok waits for you in his car, ready to drop you off at your apartment.
You didn’t have any errands to run, but you knew Yoongi and your other companions wouldn’t let you leave otherwise. You didn’t mind it though, not really.
You liked being around all of them. You had relationships with each of them just as they did with each other. The eight of you toed the line between couple and kinda, sorta, just friends.
Who were you kidding?
You all were heading to Couple Town but we’re too scared to make the first move. Perhaps if you all sat down and had “The Talk”, you’d feel more at ease but just thinking about it made your tummy flip and not in a good way.
Hoseok wonders what you’re thinking about so hard in the passenger seat. Your brows are furrowed and your bottom lip is caught between your teeth as you stare blankly at the road ahead.
“You’re still coming tonight?” He asks as he comes to a full stop at a red light.
“Of course,” you answer with a smile. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Gonna wear another pair of assless chaps?”
Hoseok cackles, shaking his head as he slowly accelerates when the light turns green.
“Unfortunately that was a one-time thing but our outfits tonight are just as glamourous… or should I say scandalous?”
“Ooh, then I will definitely be there tonight,” you giggle as you look out the window as the familiar homes of your neighborhood appear.
Tonight would probably be just as rowdy as the previous night, if not more due to it being Saturday night.
You better dress to the nines to blow your almost boyfriends away.
Tumblr media
Music pounds in your ears the moment you step inside the building.
Your eyes immediately roam to the bar as you push past the crowd, muttering apologies before curse words.
Psy spots you and waves you over, giving you a side hug before waving at a server to bring you the usual.
“Crowded tonight,” you comment as people squeeze by you and you wonder if you’re within the fire code limit.
“This Western theme is a hit,” Psy nods as he spins around showing you his extravagant getup. This one is a burnt orange with tassels covered in brown glitter that matches his cowboy boots. “Don’t I look marvelous?”
“You do,” you agree with a genuine smile as your drink arrives.
“I’m thinking of doing Halloween costumes for this year. Maybe have the patrons dress up and have a costume contest. What do you think?” Psy asks, genuinely wanting your input.
“Would I get to choose the winner?” You pout and Psy rolls his eyes playfully.
“Of course, who else?” Psy laughs as he raises his drink, clinking it with yours before he’s called away by a staff member.
You sip your drink at the table Psy occupied and you watch as your men get on the bar.
Fuck, you knew their outfits would be hot just like yesterday but you weren’t sure where to look.
Namjoon was clad in a hot pink outfit with the sleeves cut off and a pink cowboy hat on his head. The buckle was sparkly as the lights reflected off it and he shook his ass in those jeans.
Wow!
Beside him, Hoseok is in a silver outfit with the tassels moving with him. The pants cling to his delicious thighs and he uses his hat to hide his eyes, swinging his hips from side to side as the crowd screams his name. Hoseok chuckles, taking the hat off and pressing it to his chest as he and Namjoon shake their ass to the song.
You’re not even sure what the song is about as they smile brightly, flexing their arms and shaking their hips as the song nears its end.
“Got you drooling already, love?” Seokjin asks as he walks up behind you.
“Uh…” you tear your eyes away from Namjoon long enough to acknowledge Seokjin, who chuckles and has you face the bar.
Hoseok bows as the song ends and Namjoon hops off the bar to collect the tips while Hoseok makes a few drinks, flirting with a few customers who are eager to place tips in the pocket of his shirt or the back pocket of his pants.
A little taste for the fans is what he usually says but you don’t care because all those tips are spent on you and your almost boyfriends.
“Jin!” the server calls from the bar, waving him over to help with the growing crowd of parched customers.
“Duty calls, baby,” Seokjin kisses you hastily as he parts the crowd with his wide shoulders. You nearly drool over them, wishing you could take him to the locker room again.
You fix your skirt, adjusting your cowboy hat right after. Jungkook was beaming from behind the bar when he spotted his hat on your head.
The seven men get onto the bar as their dance number begins. You’re not sure who to watch, Yoongi draws your attention when he winks but soon, he, Seokjin, Jungkook, and Taehyung face the liquor bottles on the wall while Hoseok, Jimin, and Namjoon face the crowd as they shake their hips and turn so their boyfriends can do the same.
Boots stomp on the bar as they continue to dance and you’re drawn to Namjoon’s pink outfit, nearly drooling at how his arms shine. He must have oiled them in between performances.
Hoseok garners your attention next as he slowly unbuttons his shirt a few buttons, smirking when he stops and the crowd goes “Awwww!”
The song winds down, everyone gets off the bar except Hoseok and Namjoon. Their boots stomp in sync as they hit their ending pose and rip their shirts open.
Buttons fly into the crowd and the men take the scraps of their shirts off, waving them in the air before they bow.
“Thank y’all!” Namjoon grins as he steps off the bar with Hoseok right behind him.
You chug your drink, using the sticky ice to rub on your neck in poor hopes of it cooling you down.
It doesn’t.
“You look like you’re about to cream your panties,” Yoongi chuckles as he wraps an arm around your shoulders.
“Shut up,” you hiss, elbowing him in the ribs.
“Oh, Darling, I’m hurt,” he places a hand over his chest and you roll your eyes. “But I know I’m right about the panties.”
“Why don’t you find out for yourself?” you tease.
Yoongi’s gaze darkens as his arm moves to wrap around your waist. He leans in close to whisper in your ear, “Don’t fucking tempt me. I’ll have you bent over this table faster than you can blink.”
You moan, turning into his chest to hide your face.
You feel the rumble of his chest as he laughs. “Aw, poor baby is shy?”
“Shut up,” you whine into his shirt.
“Shut up this, shut up that. You’re acting like a damn brat. Is that how you talk to me?”
“No,” you pout, thighs pressing together as Yoongi uses his body to cover you from the side as his fingers dip under your skirt, pushing your thong aside.
“Yoongi!” you gasp, hoping nobody is paying attention to the two of you. Yoongi would never allow a stranger to get a glimpse of what’s his.
“Keep being mouthy, baby, and I’ll have you gushing right where you stand,” Yoongi threatened deliciously as he rubs your clit in slow, tantalizing circles before he put his wet fingers in his mouth.
“Well, fuck,” Seokjin states as he approaches. “Looks like I missed a show.”
“Why don’t you slide your hand under her skirt and find out,” Yoongi smirks as Seokjin laughs.
“I would, but we’re doing our last number. Bodyguard let too many people in and we have to close for the night.” Seokjin explains with a sigh.
“Fuck, really?” Yoongi asks as he goes to Seokjin, your explicit fun is coming to an unfortunate end.
“Yeah,” Seokjin grunts. “The only reason we can finish is because the Chief’s wife begged him.”
You bust out laughing, shaking your head. “She knows a good show when she sees one.”
“Then let’s give her and the Chief a hell of a show,” Yoongi grins as he leaves with Seokjin on his trail.
You watch from your seat as Psy announces their early closing, nodding with the disappointed shouts.
“We’ll be back tomorrow night to conclude our Western show! Thanks for coming!” Psy waves and leaves. There’s no need for him to stick around, he knows one of your boyfriends will close up.
As the men take the stage for the last time tonight, you note Hoseok and Namjoon are shirtless. You gape at them as the crowd notices them as well.
You’re sure Namjoon’s the reason for it. This wasn’t the first time he ripped his shirt off without a backup.
Gyrating, hip thrusting, and every ungodly dance move you can imagine takes place on that sinful bar as the music pumps and the cheers of the drunk, horny crowd fill the building.
It takes almost twenty minutes for the bar to clear out and another forty for your boyfriends to finish cleaning up.
“We’ll catch up with y’all,” Namjoon says as he pours a drink for himself and Hoseok. “Gotta wash these.”
“I’ll help,” you volunteer as the men kiss you goodnight.
“Be a good girl,” Yoongi warns as he kisses your lips. “I’ll turn the cameras off at home.”
“Thank you, baby,” you kiss him one more time before he goes to Namjoon and Hoseok. The three kiss before Yoongi wraps his arm around Jimin to lead him out to the parking lot.
Once they’re gone, you approach Namjoon as he takes his shot. He downs it easily before you kiss him to get a taste.
Hoseok takes Joon’s empty shot glass to wash with his own as your hands roam over Namjoon’s broad, sweaty chest. He’s built like the man of your dreams. So buff, so big, so muscly. It makes you nearly drool all over yourself, which Namjoon seems to enjoy as his tongue weaves with yours.
Soon, you’re placed on the bar with your legs spread open with him slotted in between.
“Damn, Joon. Leave some for me,” Hoseok teases with a smug smile as he approaches Joon’s right.
Four hands are on your thighs and two pairs of lips are on you.
“Fuck,” you can’t think straight as Joon’s hands grip your thighs as he opens your legs further. He tugs your thong down, nearly tearing it into pieces as he removes it from your body.
Hoseok works on your shirt, pulling it over your head with your help. He does quick work of your bra, cursing and licking his lips when your tits bounce freely.
It’s not long before Namjoon is buried between your thighs, his tongue flat as he licks your wet folds. He teases your clit with his tongue, gripping your thighs in his massive hands to keep you still as Hoseok kisses you, gently tugging on your bottom lip with his teeth before kissing down your chest to take a tit in his mouth.
Their names escape your lips, body arching as one hand grips a handful of Hoseok’s hair and the other twines in Namjoon’s thick locks.
“Fuck, please,” you’re unsure of what you’re asking for but the pleasure builds inside you like a flame ready to consume every morsel of your body.
It’s Namjoon who helps you off the bar, lifting your jean skirt over your ass.
“Fuck, look at that ass,” Namjoon murmurs more to himself than Hoseok.
“Fuck, missed having her riding my cock.” Hoseok comments as he spanks you just to watch your cheek jiggle.
Namjoon groans as Hoseok does it again. He wants to sink his teeth into the flesh and leave his mark as a reminder every time you sit.
Hoseok goes around the bar, climbing on. He’s nude, his erection resting heavily in his hand as he strokes himself while Namjoon finger fucks your pretty cunt open.
“Fuck my mouth, Hobi,” you plead, nearly drooling over his cock as he places the tip on your lips.
“You know I can’t deny you, baby girl,” Hoseok groans when your tongue flicks his slit, tasting precum.
Hoseok’s torso glistens with sweat, and you’d gladly lick up every drop. In a different setting, you would kiss every inch of his body until his cock stuffs your mouth.
Namjoon grabs your ass, cursing as he makes it jiggle before his teeth sink into the meaty flesh, just to make you moan around Hoseok’s cock.
Hobi pushes further, his cock heavy on your tongue as he hits the back of your throat. Your eyes widen, filled with tears as you meet his gaze. He knows if it’s too much, you’ll tap his hand and he’ll immediately remove his thick cock from your pretty pouty lips.
This wasn’t your first threesome, much less your first time with them. You loved the thrill of being with them, getting eaten out, fucked, stuffed full of cum to show Yoongi when you crawled in his bed, just for him to fuck his cum inside you, eating you out after just to fuck you full of him again.
The moan that escapes you is obscene. You’re almost embarrassed but it spurs Namjoon on as he spreads your cheeks, his tongue circling your asshole as you melt on the bar.
Fuck, your mind is empty.
All that matters is Namjoon’s tongue fucking your asshole while your pussy drips down your thighs and Hoseok fucks your mouth until you’re hoarse.
You gag, choking on his cock as he hits the back of your throat. You remind yourself to breathe through your nose as Hobi grabs a handful of your hair, his cock hitting the back of your throat repeatedly as you choke on it. You hold on as long as possible before he’s pulling out and you gasp loudly, cumming in response.
“Shit,” Namjoon chuckles. “She fucking came on my face.”
You’re too aroused to be embarrassed as Hoseok grabs you by the hair to kiss you. Namjoon strokes his long, thick cock in one hand before he lines it up at your cunt and pushes in. You gasp, allowing Hoseok to slip his tongue past your lips to deepen the kiss.
You’re on Cloud 9.
You’re not surprised your trip to the bar has ended like this, and you’re not ashamed to admit this isn’t the first or last time you’ll be bent over this bar, fucked until your legs shake.
“Oh fuck!” you exclaim when Namjoon slides home. “So fucking big.”
Namjoon doesn’t need the ego boost, but it makes his length twitch. He aims to please, he knows how to pleasure his partners. He’s experienced beyond belief and he’s willing to prove it with each gyration of his hips.
Namjoon grips your hips tighter, teeth sinking into your shoulder as he fucks you like an animal. He’s rough, groaning and moaning your name as he fucks you full of his fat cock. You nearly fall apart when Hoseok rubs your clit while marking your skin as his.
Pleasure courses through your veins, nearly overwhelming as Namjoon continues the rough thrust of his hips. You feel like you’re being split open in the best way possible as you scream Namjoon’s name repeatedly, creaming his cock as your orgasm hits.
“Fuck, you’re just a little cock-hungry slut for us, huh?” Namjoon smiles as he fucks you through your orgasm and into the next. You milk his cock, making him curse before he cums deep inside your hungry cum-hungry walls.
The fact that you weren’t pregnant yet was thanks to your kryptonite-like birth control, otherwise, you’d be fulfilling Jimin and Seokjin’s impreg kink.
Namjoon grabs your chin as you look at him over your shoulder, kissing you deeply. You nearly cum again as he pulls out of you.
Hoseok isn’t one to waste.
After all, waste none, want none, right?
Hoseok is on his knees before either of you can blink. His tongue slides easily into your cum-filled hole, sucking and slurping as heat rushes to your cheeks.
When Hoseok is done eating you out, he moves to Namjoon. He takes Joon’s cock into his mouth, licking him clean before he rises to his feet.
“Come,” Hoseok takes your hand as he leads you to the couch in the locker room.
Hoseok wastes no time in kissing you, he has you on his lap in an instant.
Namjoon joins in, cock at half-mast as he watches eagerly.
“Ride my cock like the little slut we know you are. Can’t fucking get enough of our cocks, baby girl? Gotta have all seven of us? What a greedy little bitch,” Hoseok says with a hooded gaze.
His words send a tingle down your spine as you nod. There were no lies in his statement.
None at all.
Namjoon shakes his head with a warm smile.
You straddle Hoseok's hips, lining up his cock at your entrance. Your hands grip his shoulders as you sink onto it. Your mouth drops open as he fills you to the brim just like Namjoon had.
“Hobi,” your voice is hoarse as you bounce on his dick. Namjoon watches intently as Hoseok’s hands grab hold of your ass.
Namjoon gets close, kissing Hoseok as you bounce that sweet ass on his lap. Hoseok is a sucker for you and will do anything you ask at a moment’s notice. All his boyfriends would. You’re their queen.
“Shit, ride my cock just like that. You love being a little whore, don’t ya? Yoongi warned us but we didn’t listen. Just a cock-hungry hoe for us.” Hoseok’s words make you clench around him, body hot like a furnace as you slam your lips on his and then Joon’s.
Your cunt throbs with pleasure, tits bouncing as you seek your next orgasm, screaming Hoseok’s name as you cream his fucking cock like the good little whore you are.
“Shit! Shit!” Hoseok gasps as he cums deep inside you, hips lifting off the couch as he shudders with the last of his orgasm.
You collapse on Hoseok, kissing him as you clench around him, milking him for all he’s worth. Hoseok whines, cursing when you rock your hips a few more times.
Namjoon chuckles as he helps you off Hoseok’s lap.
“Come here, baby,” he instructs as he pulls you toward him. He kisses you sweetly, his hands on your thighs, fingers bruising your sensitive skin.
Hoseok tosses him a bottle of lube and Namjoon squirts a generous amount on his fingers. His thumb breaches your ass first, making you cry out. It’s all for show though, you love having every hole fucked and stuffed, which is why Namjoon pays you no mind as he continues.
“Hush, baby,” Namjoon instructs as he fucks your ass with his thumb before adding more lube and a second finger. You mewl, melting into him as he adds a third finger minutes later.
“Joon!” you whine as you feel the fat head of his cock at your opening. Namjoon is careful as he slides his lubed-up cock into your ass, gripping your hips tight as his head lolls back from the pleasure of your warm hole.
Hoseok kisses you as a distraction, his soft lips moving in sync with yours.
Namjoon pulls you on top of him, your back pressed to his chest as Hoseok lines himself up at your wet cunt.
“Fuck, baby. You’re always so fucking wet for us,” Hoseok groans, eyes fluttering shut as he feels the warmth of your soaking wet cunt.
“That’s it, baby. Take our cocks like the good girl you are,” Namjoon grunts as he thrusts upward.
Both holes are stuffed full and Hoseok takes a pert nipple between his teeth, tugging just to make you scream for him.
Pleasure courses throughout your body as your spine tingles and your body quakes with each delicious thrust from both men. Euphoria engulfs you as you cream Hoseok’s cock while clenching around Namjoon’s.
“Shit!” Hoseok cries out, your warm wet cunt bringing him to orgasm. He pants, moaning your name into your neck as he comes undone inside your soaking wet pussy.
Namjoon isn’t too far behind. He curses, cock twitching as he fills your ass with his cum. He’s stuffed both holes generously tonight.
He’s out of breath as he pulls out of you.
Hoseok is a greedy bitch as he flips you onto your stomach, his tongue in your ass as he licks you clean.
Namjoon laughs as he grabs a handful of Hoseok’s hair. “Looks like the cum-hungry slut is you, huh?”
Hoseok moans in response, licking his lips before Namjoon kisses him, tasting himself on Hoseok’s tongue.
It takes ten minutes for all of you to regain your breath and your clothing.
“Let’s go cuddle at home,” Namjoon says before yawning.
“Please,” Hoseok states as he laces his fingers with yours. “Sleep with us, baby girl.”
“I will,” you assure them as your sleepy selves walk out of the bar toward Joon’s car after locking up. He drives the three of you home safely, leading you to the shower in his room where the three of you make out before climbing into bed to cuddle.

Snow Falls Collaboration
Tumblr media
Three couples. One town named Snow Falls. Too much fun to handle? Only time will tell as you join us for three heartwarming holiday stories. Prepare to laugh, cry and possibly chuck your phone across the room out of happiness (or frustration). This holiday season, enjoy chaos and cheer from @suga-kookiemonster , @underthejoon and @kpopfanfictrash!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
all is bright by @suga-kookiemonster
Pairing⇢ Jeon Jungkook x Reader
Summary⇢ the last year hasn't been the kindest to you, but you're trying really hard not to let that ruin the holidays, since christmas has always been such a Big Deal in your hometown. still, it's difficult to be festive when not too long ago, your high school sweetheart dumped you and turned your world on its head. enter jungkook – the shy, scrawny boy you haven't seen since graduation who is now apparently a lot less shy and way less scrawny man. when a chance encounter throws you back into each other's orbit, it doesn't take long for you to wonder if he's just the person you need to help regain your holiday spirit.
Tumblr media
Not Another Holiday Romance by @kpopfanfictrash
Pairing⇢ Kim Namjoon x Reader
Summary⇢ You, a perpetually alone (and utterly cynical) movie director, are sent to the town of Snow Falls, Middle-of-Nowhere for your latest film assignment. Stuck in holiday hell until the new year, you’re determined to get in and get out with minimal damage to your Grinch reputation. That is, until a ridiculously gorgeous (and young?!) town historian is assigned to help with your film. Suddenly, you find yourself the heroine of one of those corny romances you direct – and are discovering they might not be so corny after all.
Tumblr media
Evergreen Acres by @underthejoon
Pairing⇢ Min Yoongi x Reader
Summary⇢ You've heard the old adage "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" more than a time or two. This time, however, you may just heed it. The town of Snow Falls isn't exactly the first place you'd choose for yourself. But desperate times call for desperate measures and desperate you are, indeed. Starting over is never easy, but with small town hospitality, new friendships and the attentions of a soft-spoken cowboy, this may just be the perfect place to set down roots.
Tumblr media
Happy Holidays, all!

Hungry (For Your Love) | KNJ
Tumblr media
Pairing: Namjoon x Vampire!Reader
Genre: supernatural, slight fluff, strangers to lovers, Vamp!AU
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: swearing, kissing, mentions of blood, mentions of feeding, allusions to slaughter, Namjoon is a big buff cutie pie and honestly almost as deadly as reader
Word Count: 2.8K
Disclaimers: None, other than obviously I don’t own BTS - they just inspire me
Summary: After a century of slumber, you wake ravenous for your next meal. The first human you stumble across, Namjoon, is a fine choice. You just weren't expecting him to be so cute.
A/N: This was written for the BTS Writing Cafe's Welcome to Horrorwood event! Happy Halloween, @lokidow-strange-army! Crimson, I had a lot of fun being your ghostly friend. I hope you like this little story I've written for you. 🧛‍♀️
Thanks to @herecomesjoon and @reliablemitten for taking a look at this one! 💜
Part 2 - Fledgling
Tumblr media
The first thing you feel upon waking is pain. Decades of slumber have left you stiff as a corpse, which you are, in a manner of speaking. Every muscle, every bone, every joint aches. Slowly, you stir within your coffin, stretching your body awake.
The second thing you feel is hunger.
It’s been nearly a century since you gorged yourself on the blood of the innocent, preparing yourself for your torpor. To sleep for such a long time requires a feast, to provide you with enough energy to sustain you for decades.
But the last of that fête has long since faded, leaving you beyond ravenous. You must feed, and soon.
Once the feeling returns to your fingers and toes, you rise. The heavy wooden door to your crypt uses up the last vestiges of your ungodly strength as you carefully push it open, peeking to see if it is safe for you to leave.
The sky above you darkens as night begins to fall. Excellent. Without the sun to stop you, you are free to roam the town in search of food.
The graveyard where your crypt resides has grown during your rest. To think that there are so many humans lying under your feet as you stagger between the headstones - so many bodies so close to you, and yet completely useless. You need fresh blood. So you push on, reaching the forest at the border of the burial grounds. Or what is left of it, anyway. For while you slept your dreamless sleep, your little town became a bustling metropolis.
In a slight daze, you wander the paved streets, staring at the tall edifices towering over you like brick and mortar mountains. Automobiles zip past you, their alien forms a barely-recognizable offspring of the vehicles you recall. Despite the fact that your home has become a booming city, there are no humans to be found on the sidewalks. The intense thirst raging inside you makes you desperate. Another block away sits a small house on the corner of the road. Moving swiftly, you climb the steps to the front door, and knock.
This should be easy. No matter who answers the door, you’ll simply hypnotize them into letting you in, then take your fill. With your considerable charm and your incredible speed, you’ll be sinking your fangs into your meal in no time.
And yet, when the door opens, you find yourself frozen, staring at the human who answers. He’s tall, with dark hair that brushes the edge of his broad shoulders. The fashion of the time is much less formal that you are used to - he appears to be wearing a simple undershirt made of cotton and what looks like denim pants, like those you’ve seen on railway workers or cowboys, and the clothing appears to be melted onto his frame, tight enough to reveal the bulging muscles beneath. Hooded dragon eyes sweep over you as you gaze at him, and plush lips open in surprise.
“Oh! Are you here for the party? Um, you’re a little early.” He lifts an arm, the thin material of his shirt straining to contain his biceps, to glance at a wristwatch. “Jin probably forgot to tell you we changed the time, didn’t he? He’s a great roommate, but he can be a little absentminded sometimes.”
The wind stirs, and you catch his scent. He smells absolutely delicious. Inhaling deeply, your head spins, saliva flooding your mouth. You long to taste him, but until he invites you in, you can’t touch him.
He gives you another appraising look, taking in your appearance. The ankle-length black flapper-like gown you slept in hugs you tightly, cap sleeves and sweetheart bodice revealing smooth skin and ample curves that catch his eye. Your lips are stained crimson from centuries of feeding. There’s a golden tint to your iris that shimmers as you meet his gaze.
You can hear the blood rushing to his face as he flushes.
“What are you supposed to be, a vampire?”
His question shocks you, and you answer without thinking. “Yes, I am.” How can he tell?
“Great costume. Love the contacts, they really make you look otherworldly.” He blushes harder, not noticing your confusion at his words, although you gather from ‘costume’ that he does not know your true nature. “I gotta put my costume on soon, but I’m just finishing up a few things first. Jin had to run to the store, but you’re welcome to hang out here with me until the party starts.” Raising his arm again, he gestures for you to come inside.
The unseen barrier preventing you from entering his home dissipates and you step forward. His musk hits you again as you brush past him. Delectable. You’re going to enjoy every moment of this.
Turning, you ready yourself to attack, only to be greeted with a blinding smile and two very deep dimples. The roaring beast inside you is instantly quelled by the sight. He’s absolutely beautiful. And rather big. When did humans get so… thick?
“I’m sorry, I’m afraid I don’t recognize you. But I haven’t met a lot of Jin’s coworkers. What’s your name?”
You murmur your name and he repeats it in his low timbre. “That’s lovely. Kinda old fashioned.”
With a coy smile, you nod.
“And I’m Namjoon. Um, but you probably knew that.” Namjoon runs his fingers through his shaggy locks, grinning at you shyly. You could eat that smile off his face. Maybe you will. “My friends call me Joon, though.”
“Joon,” you whisper, the slightest touch of enchantment drifting into your tone, and you nearly laugh at the blissful expression that steals over him for a few seconds, before the mesmer wears off. Oh, you could have such fun with this one. “Thank you for inviting me in.”
“O-of course.” He huffs a breath, trying to steady himself. Again, you hear his blood thrumming, and your fangs begin to slip forth as you imagine the first splash hitting your tongue.
An incredibly jarring buzzing rattles through the room, and Namjoon startles. “Oh shit, the cookies!” And he runs from the room. Curious, you follow him into what appears to be a kitchen. Although there are many foreign objects in the room, modern wonders that you’ll have to learn at some point, you easily identify the oven, observing as he produces a tray of baked goods from its heated belly.
“What do you think? Cute, huh?” He beams as he holds the tray out for your inspection. The cookies are in the shape of little gourds, covered in tiny orange nonpareils. Pumpkins, you remember. They’re called pumpkins. “I just need to let them cool and then I’ll add their faces. Like these!”
He places the tray on the table behind him and grabs a plate full of more pumpkins, these with garish green eyes and mouths drawn on in thick frosting. As he tips the plate towards you, he loses his grip, eyes widening as the plate tumbles and the cookies begin to plummet one by one to the ground.
With a burst of inhuman speed, you easily snatch the plate from midair, catching each of the falling cookies before setting it back on the table. All within a blink of Namjoon’s wide eyes.
“Whoa! How - how did you do that?”
“Good reflexes,” you purr, one shoulder lightly lifting in a shrug.
He shakes his head. “That was like some Twilight shit. You’re really committed to your costume, huh?” Again he laughs while you pretend to understand his meaning. You’ve got quite a lot to catch up on.
But that’s not important right now. What is important is the sweet nectar rushing just below the surface of that supple skin. You swear it’s getting louder and louder.
“I’ve got one more tray to go in while I wait for these to cool - oh, shit, I’m sorry, do you want a drink? I’m such a bad host.” He gestures to a counter where dozens of bottles of various libations stand. “Jin had to go get some ice, but I think we have a little in the freezer if you want a mixed drink. Or we also have soju, beer, or wine?”
“I would love a drink,” you inform him, lips quirking in a secretive smile as you eye his neck. His pulse point seems to thump under your gaze.
“What’s your poison?”
Humans. Weak, stupid, vile little humans. That’s what you prefer to slake your thirst. It’s not that you always hated them. You were once one of them. But that was eons ago. Over the millennia, you’d grown tired of their foolish ways. That was why you’d chosen to slumber for so long, in the hopes of waking to find a new age filled with more enlightened beings instead of the senseless masses hellbent on driving the world to ruin with their greed and hatred.
Caught up in your thoughts, it takes you a minute to realize that Namjoon is waiting for your response. His warm smile is so endearing. And he seems so kind. Maybe you’ve awoken at the right time? “Wine, please.”
“Red or white?”
“Red. Such a beautiful color,” you sigh.
The vintage he pours you is sweet, if a bit cloying. Still, the scarlet liquid momentarily quenches you as you take a seat on the kitchen stool he pulls out for you. The sugar provides a much-needed surge of energy.
You’re still planning on draining him dry, but… perhaps it wouldn’t be so awful to talk to him a little first. Maybe try to find out more about this new world before you attempt to traverse it.
Also, he’s incredibly handsome, so why not enjoy the view a bit longer?
Once he determines that you’re settled, Namjoon turns his attention to the pile of dirty dishes in his sink. “Like I said, I haven’t met too many of Jin’s coworkers. Are you also in mergers and acquisitions?”
“Yes, I am.” It’s always best to go along with whatever your victims believe. Makes for fewer questions.
He pauses, glancing at you over his shoulder. “Wait, you’re not the one they call ‘the Shark,’ are you? He told me that’s someone’s nickname, someone with a knack for using a company’s weaknesses against them. You know, like a shark sniffing out blood.”
You nearly choke on your wine but manage to swallow it down smoothly. “Yes, that’s me. You could say I have an… instinct for that type of thing.”
Namjoon raises an eyebrow as a faint smirk crosses his face. “Then I guess I’ll have to be on my guard around you.”
If only he knew. “What about you, Joon? What do you do?”
Drying his hands, he returns to the cookies. “Perfect, they’re cool enough that the frosting won’t melt. Um, I’m an historian for a local art conservancy.”
“Oh really? That sounds fascinating.”
He laughs, head bent over the pumpkin he’s decorating. “It’s okay, you don’t have to pretend. I know it doesn’t sound very interesting. Most peoples’ eyes tend to glaze over when I tell them what I do.”
“I am not most people, Joon.”
The regal tone in your voice makes him look up. He’s silent for a moment as he gazes at you before he returns to his work. “No, I would say you’re not,” he murmurs under his breath, an aside that your keen ears catch.
Now that your wine glass is empty, you feel the stirrings of your hunger starting to grow again. It sharpens your tongue. “I have no patience for useless conversation, so believe me when I say that I’m interested. What drew you to your work?”
Those dragon eyes observe you closely again. “Do you really want to know?”
“Did I not say to believe me?”
Namjoon’s cheeks flame briefly. Oh, how his blood sings. “I’ve always had a love for art and history, and this combines the two. But to be completely honest… to me, these ancient artifacts are the voices of those who came before us. The least we can do is preserve them, so future generations can listen.” He keeps his head ducked, chuckling at himself. “That probably sounds incredibly lame, right?”
“Not at all.” A human after your own unbeating heart. How marvelous. “I understand exactly what you mean. It’s important to listen to the past so we can learn from it. Or so I’ve always believed.”
“Exactly.” Relief washes over his face. He finishes the last of his cookies, sliding the plate towards you. “I just realized I haven’t even offered you a cookie yet. Would you like one?”
Human food is largely unappealing to you. And you can’t say you find the bright orange and green coloring very appetizing. The obnoxious timer buzzes again, alerting Namjoon that the last batch of cookies are done, and as he strolls past you to the oven, his scent shrouds you like a heavenly cloud, wrapping your mind in a complete haze.
With his back to you, he can’t see the way your eyes glow, golden irises expanding until no white remains. He doesn’t note how your canines lengthen, slipping past your lips. No one bears witness to the way you quiver as that intoxicating smell hits your nostrils again. He’s going to taste so sweet, you just know it.
“All right, just need to let these cool and I’m done! Thanks for keeping me company. I hope I haven’t been boring you.”
You merely hum, lost in the rapture of his mouthwatering aroma. Finally, you can’t take it anymore, overwhelmed by the consuming need to plunge your fangs deep into his veins and suck out the lifeforce pulsing inside, and you creep up behind him, hands curling into talons, ready to grab and bite, when he suddenly yelps.
“Ah, hot! Shit!”
Having grabbed the still hot tray without an oven mitt, he quickly retracts his burnt hand, whirling around, and his flailing limb smacks into you. Temporarily stunned, weakened after so long without feeding, you immediately drop towards the ground, only to find yourself hovering inches above the tiles, caught in Namjoon’s strong arms.
Namjoon looks almost as surprised as you are to find himself in this position. To anyone else looking in, the two of you would appear to be locked in a lover’s embrace.
Maybe it’s the pose. Maybe it’s the way he gazes at you, eyes filled with a desire that matches the hunger roiling within you. Maybe it’s the thirst driving you mad, but as you stare up at him, you think, what a divine creature he is, and resolve in that moment to let him live.
And maybe keep him.
“I’m sorry,” he rumbles. The hand on your back shifts, warmth spreading across your chilled skin as he slowly brings you back to your feet. His other hand cups the nape of your neck and stays there, even once you’re standing on your own. “I’m just a big clumsy oaf sometimes.”
“I think you’re lovely,” you declare, choosing honesty over bewitchment, pleased when it has the same result. His mouth gapes slightly, eyebrows disappearing under his bangs, before a soft smile settles over his features.
There’s no mistaking the way his eyes keep dropping to your lips, even before he begins to whisper, “Can I kiss you?”
You give the briefest of nods before his mouth meets yours. At first, his lips move lightly, treating you as if you’re delicate. That won’t do at all, so you lean into him, threading your fingers through his silky hair to urge him closer. Flicking your tongue across the seam of his mouth, you grin as he groans, and slip into the opening his reaction provides. There’s an undercurrent of something in his kiss, something wild and untamed churning just under the surface, yearning to break free. It calls to you as forcefully as his blood does.
You’re definitely keeping this one.
His face is red as he pulls away, a slight pant to his breathing. “That was nice. I, uh, don’t usually kiss someone I’ve just met like that.”
That shaky sentence tells you that he feels the same strange connection you do. With cool fingers, you tenderly cup his cheek. “I’m pleased you made an exception for me.”
With that kiss, you decide on a change of plans. Tonight, you’ll stay for the party. Pick a random guest, sneak them away and drink your fill, and then return to this curious little human’s side. There’s so much you’ve yet to learn about him.
Thank the old gods you have an eternity to do it.

Hi bestie 🤭 if you had to pick one favorite thing about each hybrid what would it be?
Also this is me formally begging for more cowboy jimin 😩
GUYS THIS IS MY BESTIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (IRL!)
OMG . LETS GO.
Seokjin - how he's constantly worried that Y/N is cold and likes to bundle her up, his quiet sort of watchfulness over her
Yoongi - house husband. also totally whipped for her in a biblical way, the way he waited for her for a year and yearned
Hoseok - always breaking the tension and works hard to build a genuine friendship with Y/N. Has a secret side to him that has been hinted to as well 👹
Namjoon - he's hot his growth tbh, he was a real asshat in the beginning but he's done a lot of maturing, also the way he has softened for her, the gift givinggggggs
Jimin - HES WHIMSICAL! also dream man who can build whatever you want or need. I love that he's also easily flustered by her
Taehyung - his air of mystery I really love, he's a complicated character so constantly guessing about his thoughts and motives is my fave. Also when he bends low to get in her face and talk to her
Jeongguk - uhhhhh everything about him I love oops. I like his wisecracks, and how he's confident in himself, and the way he doesn't "submit" to the others due to age or species. I also gothified him so .
I LOVE UUUU BESTIE!

Bangtan Sonyeondan: Butter, Permission to Dance & PROOF
Tumblr media
BUTTER, MY UNIVERSE & PERMISSION TO DANCE (2021 - 2022)
The group soon added Butter & Permission to Dance to their English song line up, once again with Grace taking the helm of translations and being the first one to sing the songs in full for the boys to then add in their own voices.
Butter, Grace’s all time favourite, soared through the charts. It also earned them their second Grammy nomination. The music video was also another one of Grace’s favourites to film, as she loved the simplicity of the concept - letting the song and the dance do all the talking. Permission to Dance was another easy one for Grace, who revealed on a V-LIVE that the outfits weren’t her favourite to wear and she hated the whole ‘cowboy’ theme but loved the concept behind the song.
Tumblr media
(outfit by hobiverse)
She also got to meet her mother’s favourite band, Coldplay. Acting as a translator to the group, she got on extraordinarily well with Chris Martin who signed a couple of pieces for her mother. It also brought Grace a lot of joy when she saw how shy Seokjin acted around Chris Martin, resulting in an endless amount of teasing.
It was an era of busy times but also uncertain times as behind the scenes there were talks of a hiatus, military and other issues. It was also during this time the group left their dorm and moved into their own apartments, which had been bought previously. An unsettling time for Grace who felt like she had finally settled into her role of who she was, who she should be but now there were changes to come.
Permission to Dance on Stage in Seoul allowed Grace to finally be the performer she was.
Tumblr media
PROOF (2022 - present)
An anthology album with three new singles - Yet to Come, Run BTS and For Youth. However, this was not a happy time for Grace - it had been announced on 5th December 2021 that the group would be devoting more time to their solo projects and at the end of the final concert for Permission to Dance on Stage in Las Vegas, Proof had been announced.
RUN BTS was by far Grace’s favourite song to perform and one she looked forward to, but the FESTA dinner had put a dampener on things for her. She had sat between Seokjin and Yoongi, mostly quiet for the whole entire thing - she didn’t say much, didn’t even react much to the boys crying and picking at her food. Fans were starting to worry that maybe, just maybe, this might be the end of BTS as an eight-member group as they confirmed they were now living apart, they were now focusing on their solo projects.
Grace’s long-awaited mixtape had been put on the shelves again and meetings with the boys in private as they worked out their plans of who was bringing an album out at what time, who was doing what, etc. made Grace put everything on hold. She was completely in a rut and one she didn’t fully know how to come out of.
Tumblr media
After the concert in Busan, when the military enlistment was announced by Seokjin, Grace went into quiet mode. She continued working behind the scenes, did a V-LIVE every now and then but kept quiet on all social media including the Instagram she had opened with the boys. She was there to see Seokjin off on December 13, the two sharing a quiet yet knowing look between them and then the news came that J-Hope was enlisting.
During this entire period, with Namjoon, J-Hope, Yoongi and Jimin releasing their own albums, Grace quietly supported them with ARMY not knowing until the BANGTAN BOMBS were uploaded onto YouTube - Grace even accompanied Jungkook for the World Cup but no mention was made at Grace’s request. She also sent flowers and best wishes to Taehyung while he was in Mexico, once again all kept quiet.
BigHit kept releasing statements that their artist was fine and would be releasing her own album soon, with Grace’s schedule already planned for all the way up to 2025 when her boys would return and they would be eight again.

bts as hot fuzz characters
this is inspired by the belly-aching conversation i just had with @ugh-yoongi
Tumblr media
Seokjin - Simon Skinner
loves a joke, particularly wordplay. chaotic neutral. gets away with anything because he's dripping in charisma. great legs. athletic. has minions (yoonkook) to do his bidding at any given moment. everyone who knows him loves him despite frankly absurd levels of obnoxiousness (we know it's all a front but do genpop?). would k word people if necessary (ie a bad performance in a play). baddie attitude at every single social event.
Tumblr media
Yoongi - Arthur Webley keeps to himself, minds his business, will chop down that hedge if it obstructs a lovely view. values comfort over style. man of few words who sometimes murmurs so much even the translators have a hard time understanding him. good with a gun (yoonji i'm lookin at u, girl). bit pasty. nice hat. prob has a weird enormous collection hidden in the basement. constantly pulling a wtf expression. pretty much done with everything. bit grouchy sometimes, bless him, could do with a nap
Tumblr media
Hoseok - The Living Statue golden child, always smiling, sadly not surprising he's one of the first to be killed off because he's got no survival skills, ie way too trusting. man of many talents. a performer through and through - right until the end. never said a bad word about anyone. always impeccably dressed. nobody knows what he’s really thinking. love him. slay king 💅🏻
Tumblr media

🐴Now playing 💿 “Take the Rain Away” by Rebecca Lavelle. [Wanna listen to the serie’s playlist?] 🐴Author’s note: can you tell I wrote this chapter while severely depressed (as I did the previous)? 🥲 But, it was very easy to channel all my feelings into it, so I wrote it in like a day while crying most of the time. But here it is! Also, again I’m sorry. I’m really going through it and dealing with my depression, so I’m sorry if I take longer to reply… I do look at your messages though! I don’t know, life is hard and I’m waiting to get a referral from my doctor… all that shit takes such a freaking long time! But yeah, I’m still struggling, but I’m doing my best to hang in there; bad days and a few good days finally. Thank you all so much for reading and for sticking with the story, tbh there were a few times in the latest chapters where I just wanted to delete it all and stop posting.. But yeah, thank fuck🫂 Also… I really hope you’ll love the next chapter and please don’t hesitate to let me know your thoughts in either a comment or a reblog ☀️💦 🐴Author’s note #2: I'm sorry… today I'm feeling extremely emotional and anxious. It’s making me cry and my head is so heavy with a lot of thoughts… I hope you still like the chapter, right now I’m afraid it’s crap, so I’ll go hide (don't mind me, this is 50% my anxiety speaking). See ya on Thursday lovelies!
It’s been cross posted to AO3 if you prefer to read there. Wanna see the book cover?

“Take the rain away Take the rain away Give me hope Give me love Make it sweet from above Take the rain away Oh take the rain away Give me praise Give me heart Take the rain away”- ‘Take the Rain Away’ by Rebecca Lavelle
Tumblr media
The rain pelts on your windows, a rhythmic symphony against the glass that serves as the melodic backdrop to your dance with the paintbrush. Each stroke elicits a clench in your heart, a poignant harmony with the emotions that escape onto the canvas. Despite a tear finding its way down your cheek, you persist. The canvas becomes a vibrant tapestry, weaving through an array of red hues, from the delicate blush of pink to the profound richness of vermillion. In this intimate dance, you surrender to the guidance of the brush, allowing the strokes to tell a story only your heart understands.
The paintbrush becomes the voice of your unspoken thoughts, an ethereal extension of your mind that guides you through an escape. It whisks you away to an alternate reality, a place where joy and serenity prevail. Yet, as you gaze upon your canvas, the illusion shatters – a mosaic of red tones, a stark reflection of your inner turmoil. You’re aware of the truth it conceals, reluctant to acknowledge the lingering ache for a man who remains silent, a man whose choices have been clear and that choice wasn’t you. But why the heck would he decide to date someone that looks like you?
The baffling revelation still eludes you, a persistent enigma that has gnawed at your thoughts for days since the girls disclosed it. The meaning behind it remains a puzzle, and you find yourself grappling with the uncertainty. There’s an urge to confront Jimin, to seek answers, but the apprehension holds you back.
Instead, you retreat to the solace of your bedroom, losing yourself in the strokes of your paintbrush. Each canvas becomes a testament to your emotional turmoil, saturated in shades of red that echo anger and sadness. The thought of whether anyone would buy these artworks fades into insignificance; the therapeutic process takes precedence, offering a semblance of peace in the midst of your inner storm.
For a solid week, the relentless rain has played its melancholic symphony, a constant companion to your shifting moods. While you don’t inherently despise the rain, its prolonged presence begins to cast a subtle veil of gloom. The weather, once a neutral backdrop, now becomes a weight on your shoulders, a persistent force tugging at the edges of your mind, leaving a trace of subtle melancholy in its wake.
Perhaps a twinge of bitterness creeps in, accompanied by an admission of jealousy as you observe Jungkook becoming a frequent overnight guest. Their shared moments are anything but discreet, the resonance of their love making echoing through the walls. You’ve mastered the art of drowning out those sounds, resorting to nocturnal strolls when needed. In the depths of your heart, you yearn for the same intimacy, but with Jimin.
You sigh, feeling utterly deflated. Life never goes the way to want it to. Why can’t you just have something good happening for once?
In the dead of night, raindrops patter on your skin as you venture out once more for a solitary walk. The rhythmic percussion of raindrops becomes a welcome reprieve, drowning out the less-than-subtle sounds emanating from your sister’s room. Ugh. it’s just great— now you can’t stand people in love anymore! Despite your genuine happiness for your sister and Jungkook, witnessing their affectionate gestures becomes a bitter pill to swallow. The kisses, the embraces, the whispered words—all of it, a poignant reminder of what you yearn for with Jimin.
If only you could have that.
You know that jealousy is a nasty feeling and it leaves you feeling bitter inside.
The rain penetrates your jacket, seeping through to your skin—a subtle reminder of your lack of preparation. Cursing under your breath, you navigate through the yard, each step burdened with the weight of your drenched attire. As you reach one of the paddocks, darkness envelops you, the atmosphere dense and humid, mirroring the warmth and heaviness echoing in your chest. Yet, you yearn for this feeling to dissipate, much like the wishful thought that the rain will cease, allowing the sun to once again cast its hopeful rays upon you.
Lifting your gaze to the sky, the night sky unfolds above you, a vast canvas adorned with innumerable stars shimmering in their cosmic dance. A sigh escapes your lips, a blend of appreciation and melancholy. The celestial display, though undeniably beautiful, carries a bittersweet weight tonight, stirring emotions that twirl like distant constellations in the vast expanse above.
With the rain as your shield, you ponder whether it’s safe to return inside again or not. Opting to let the rhythmic dance of raindrops cloak you further, you choose the soothing drumbeat of rain over the potential moans echoing through the walls. It’s better to give them more time to finish whatever they are doing, instead of going back and having to listen to it.
As the rain clings to your clothes and skin, an uncomfortable yet strangely welcomed sensation, you yearn for more than just the soothing touch of the downpour. Hoping against hope, you wish the rain could wash away the turmoil in your chest, or perhaps, deliver to you the one thing you crave and need the most—love.
Jimin.
In the recesses of your heart, the truth echoes loudly— he is the one meant for you, and the regret gnaws at your soul for not confessing your feelings earlier. The fear of disrupting and jeopardizing his current relationship hangs heavy, a bitter pill you swallow. His decision is made, and you must bear the weight of it.
Frustration clenches your hands as you yearn for a conversation, a connection—anything to breach the walls he’s created, leaving you to wonder why he’s avoiding you or won’t acknowledge you at all.
As your breath quickens, tears intertwine with the raindrops on your cheeks, a blurred fusion where your own sorrows become indistinguishable from the weeping sky.
Your clothes cling to you, saturated by the persistent rain, and you decide it’s time to retreat from the star-studded night. With a silent farewell to the celestial display, you make your way back into the house, yearning for the solace of a quiet room, and silently hoping your sister and Jungkook have concluded their love making.
As you open the door and traverse the hallway, the muffled exchange of hushed voices reaches your ears, causing your heart to sink. Determined, you press on and step into your bedroom, conveniently situated next to your sister’s. Lately, you’ve cursed this proximity, contemplating the idea of seeking refuge downstairs in the guestroom.
The rhythmic creaking of the bed and muted moans persist, making you release a weary sigh, hastily snatching your pillow to shield your ears from the intimate sounds infiltrating the air.
Morning arrives, and you’re weary, having fallen asleep with the pillow cocooned around your head. Your once-neat hair now resembles a bird’s nest, and your body, feeling rigid and sore, yearns for the elusive embrace of a restful night’s sleep.
Fatigue clinging to every step, you drag your weary body to the bathroom, performing the mundane rituals of brushing teeth and washing your face. The mirror mercilessly reflects the under-eye bags, taunting reminders of restless nights. A scoff escapes your lips as you splash water on your face, a futile attempt to shake off the lingering exhaustion and rouse yourself from the morning haze.
When you finally emerge from the bathroom, Jungkook steps out of your sister’s room, wearing a sheepish yet gentle smile. Weariness etched on your features, you respond with a weary nod, acknowledging his presence.
Apology etched in his expression, he inquires, “Did we disturb your sleep?”
Concern lines his face, yet beneath the surface, a subtle smirk plays on his lips as his eyes sweep over your tired form.
“It’s fine,” you sigh, the weight of exhaustion evident in your voice, though deep down, you acknowledge that ’fine’ is a distant echo from the truth.
“We’ll keep it down,” he assures, a warm smile gracing his features as he absentmindedly scratches his head. A soft chuckle escapes you, an acknowledgment of the genuine sweetness and kindness that radiate from him.
“Jungkook, really, you don’t have to worry. I’ll grab some earplugs or whatever,” you laugh, the sound devoid of true joy. Despite your attempts at humor, each forced smile or chuckle only serves as a reminder of the hollowness and sorrow settling in your chest.
Jungkook gives you a reluctant nod, a silent acknowledgment of your weariness and the deflated emotions you carry. With a heavy heart, you retreat into your room to get dressed, the weight of the morning and the unresolved thoughts lingering in the air.
As you descend and enter the kitchen, the comforting aroma of Ha-rin’s nearly finished breakfast fills the air. Offering a hand, you assist her in setting up the table in the cozy dining room. The rarity of having everyone gather for a meal is not lost on you; usually, you’re consumed by solitary, hurried bites as the demands of the ranch beckon. However, today unfolds differently, marked by an unusual slowness in the rhythm of ranch life.
“You look tired,” she observes with a gentle concern in her voice as the two of you collaborate in setting the table. A soft chuckle escapes you, a mixture of acknowledgment and self-deprecating humor. It’s as if they’ve pointed out the obvious—yes, you’re aware you don’t look your best, but must they bring attention to it?
“Thanks. Jungkook and Jessi kept me up again,” you respond with a weariness that seeps into both your voice and posture, a tiredness underscored by a stifled yawn.
As you turn your head, Jungkook and Jessi stand in the doorframe, wearing apologetic expressions that mirror the remorse evident in their eyes.
“We’re sorry,” your sister offers a sincere smile as she pulls out a chair, settling down. Jungkook follows suit, immediately diving into the meal with an eagerness that hints at his hunger.
“It’s fine,” you brush off their apologies with weary eyes and a nonchalant wave. “At least you’re getting some,” you jest, but an awkward hush descends upon the room. The atmosphere turns dense, and their uncertain expressions reveal they’re unsure how to react. “Don’t mind me; I’m just... frustrated. Not at you, though!” you quickly reassure them, taking a seat and joining in the meal.
For a few minutes, an uncomfortable silence descends, wrapping around the room like an unwelcome guest. It’s the kind of awkward stillness that feels stifling and peculiar, and you find yourself yearning for someone to break it, to utter anything to shatter the tension lingering in the air.
“We actually have something to tell you,” your sister begins, and as you meet her eyes, you notice a sparkle of excitement, maybe even love, dancing in them. Her happiness is contagious; a radiant smile graces her lips, and a delicate pink hue adorns her cheeks, complementing her beautifully. It’s a sight that warms your heart, pulling a genuine smile from you in return.
Jungkook gently moves his hand over Jessi’s, giving it a tender squeeze, and his eyes gleam with a radiant light, an unmistakable shimmer of affection, you presume. Their laughter dances in the air, and their shared smiles are like a silent declaration of the love that binds them.
“We’ve been meaning to share something with you,” your sister begins, her voice laced with a mix of excitement and apprehension. “Jungkook and I are dating,” she announces, and you can’t help but feel your smile broaden. You observe the subtle exchange of glances between them, a blend of happiness and nervousness, as if unsure of how you’ll react to this newfound chapter in their relationship.
Your eyes glisten with unshed tears, and you can’t help but beam, your emotions laid bare. “That makes me so happy to hear!” A single tear escapes, and you playfully scold yourself, but deep down, you’re overwhelmed with joy for your sister and Jungkook.
Your sister’s concern deepens as she leans in, her eyes reflecting worry. “Are you okay with this? You seem a bit sad…”
With tear-streaked cheeks, you point to your clearly emotional face, chuckling through the joyful tears. “This? I’m just thrilled for you. I just... wish I had that too. But I’m genuinely happy for you.” Sniffling, you manage a smile, though your plate is nearly obscured by your overwhelming emotions.
Jungkook, your sister, and Ha-rin exchange concerned glances, but wisely refrain from prying further. You believe they’ve caught on; your weeks of moping and the emotional rollercoaster have left little room for secrets. It’s ridiculous, you scold yourself internally, navigating the intricate maze of your own emotions. The irony of grieving a relationship that never truly existed weighs heavy on your chest, and you can’t help but feel a pang of sorrow for what could have been.
Genuine happiness radiates within you for their newfound relationship, and you don’t perceive it as strange. Sure, there was a fleeting encounter with Jungkook, as Jessi pointed out, but it was just that—a passing moment. You never harbored romantic feelings for him; your joy stems from seeing them genuinely happy together. Yet, an undeniable pang echoes in your heart, a yearning for that elusive connection you witness in them, to have that special someone— and that someone is Jimin.
Caught in the whirlwind of conflicting emotions, you grapple with the uncertainty of your feelings for Jimin. Every attempt to navigate this emotional maze has hit a dead end – avoiding him, attempting conversations that fall on deaf ears, and even embracing silence only to be met with his intense gaze.
The enigma that is Jimin remains beyond your comprehension. Your desire for him lingers, leaving you in a perplexing predicament with no clear path forward.

“Relax your shoulders,” Yoongi’s voice cuts through the rhythmic sounds of hooves against the earth, offering guidance as a fiery-red mare gracefully circles you in the pen. Perched atop the fence, Yoongi, accompanied by Hoseok, shares his insights. Lately, with the challenging task of taming wild horses, Hoseok has become an invaluable ally, contributing his skill and energy to the shared pursuit.
His involvement extends beyond mere assistance; he actively contributes to the preparations, occasionally joining your rides and, on other occasions, simply sharing moments as you engage in the day’s tasks. Today, he observes with keen interest, his presence an unspoken support in the rhythm of your work.
You attempt to find your focus, and you let your shoulders sag, reminding yourself of the importance of a calm and clear mind in handling the unpredictable nature of the horses. Despite your efforts, stress and frustration linger, making the task more challenging. Today seems particularly difficult. Your gaze repeatedly drifts toward Yoongi and Hoseok, seated closely. The air between them carries a subtle tension, Yoongi fidgeting with his shirt, an uncharacteristic unease marking his demeanor. It’s funny how being around someone you like can change the way you behave.
You let out a soft chuckle, finding Yoongi’s crush on Hoseok endearing. The uncertainty of whether Hoseok reciprocates, or even what his preferences are— if he’s into men, women or both. You have no clue, but you genuinely hope that Hoseok shares Yoongi’s feelings; knowing that Yoongi could use a guy like Hoseok in his life.
The red mare’s whinny echoes through the air as it breaks into a wild gallop, gracefully navigating the pen with powerful bucks. This one, a recent addition, demands more patience than its counterparts. However, you embrace the challenge, recognizing that each horse is unique, and you’re willing to invest the time needed to build trust and understanding.
You let the spirited mare run around the pen, attempting to divert your attention from its antics. Instead, your gaze returns to the two men on the fence. They’re engaged in casual conversation, possibly about work, but the genuine smile on Yoongi’s face has an inexplicable effect on your heart. Hoseok’s eyes light up at every word from Yoongi, and it feels as if your heart could burst into a garden of blossoming flowers. In that moment, you yearn for a connection as beautiful and captivating as the one unfolding before you.
As your gaze drifts, it travels up to the yard, settling on the house that holds the thoughts of the man who occupies your every waking moment—Jimin. The silence between you two persists, leaving you in a state of anticipation. Every now and then, you catch glimpses of him with Deiji, their laughter echoing through the air. Despite the small flower in your chest withering at the sight, you remind yourself it’s okay, even though anger still lingers.
“Watch out!” Hoseok shouts, leaping down from the fence with Yoongi in tow. Before you can react, you find yourself sprawled on the ground with a thud. A frustrated groan escapes your lips as you rub your back, rolling over to your side.
You spot Yoongi approaching the red mare, hands raised in the air, skillfully redirecting its attention away from you. Meanwhile, Hoseok is already down on his knees beside you. As your eyes flutter open, a wave of confusion washes over you.
Concern fills Hoseok’s voice as he asks, “Are you okay?”
Your gaze meets his, lingering confusion evident. Meanwhile, Yoongi persists in his attempt to soothe the red mare, now employing a gentler approach, his words whispered in a hushed tone.
Your eyes lock with Hoseok’s as you ask, “What happened?”
His outstretched hand becomes your anchor, pulling you up into a sitting position, your fingers instinctively rubbing your sore back again.
His words hit you, “The horse ran you over,” accompanied by a subtle chuckle. Yet, his eyes reveal a deeper concern as he carefully scans you, ensuring that you’re genuinely okay.
You glance around in confusion at the sandy expanse of the pen.
“It did?” you inquire, perplexed, your gaze shifting down to the ground where you find yourself. You must have blacked out or something. You assess your body, feeling a general lack of pain, at least not as much as you expected.
“I think I’m fine,” you assure Hoseok, allowing him to help you up as you stand. You dust off the sand from your pants and shirt, trying to regain a sense of composure.
Yoongi, having calmed the mare, walks over to you. “Are you sure you’re fine?” he asks, raising a brow as he looks you up and down. You chuckle, dismissing any concern with a wave of your hand. There’s no need for a fuss over a simple fall.
“I’m fine. I was just pushed. No biggie!” you declare, gesturing with your hands to reassure them that everything is under control.
“Maybe we should take a look at you at the house?” Hoseok suggests, and you instantly flinch, a wave of apprehension washing over you.
“Oh god no. I’m fine, and I really don’t want to go in there,” you state firmly, a pressed smile on your face. The last thing you need is to see Jimin with Deiji again; better to stay clear of them, as you’ve been doing recently. Both Yoongi and Hoseok laugh, and you notice the way they look at each other, as if there’s something you’ve missed. For a split second, you feel left out before joining in the laughter yourself.
You ask Yoongi to finish working on the red mare while you and Hoseok take a seat on top of the fence. From there, you observe him letting the horse run about, much like you did earlier. Yoongi always appears so relaxed when he’s working. His ability to keep his mind sealed off and clear during tasks is incredible. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for you or Hoseok. The dynamic between the three of you is unique, each with your own way of approaching the work at hand.
The happy-go-lucky man next to you appears captivated by watching Yoongi work; his eyes shine as bright as the sun. The way he holds his breath, as if the air is too thick with something, sparks a glimmer of hope within you. Perhaps it’s because he might harbor feelings for Yoongi.

You meticulously apply eyeliner and mascara, ensuring you look flawless. Returning to your room, your eyes fall upon the elegant purple satin gown laid out on your bed. The floor-length attire boasts a sweetheart neckline, perfectly complemented by a pair of carefully chosen low heels that you gracefully slip into.
Before stepping out, you steal a moment to gaze at your reflection in the mirror, and what stares back at you is nothing short of captivating.
As you step outside your door, you encounter your sister, adorned in a floor-length gown of deep blue that borders on the verge of velvety blackness.
“Wow, you look stunning,” you compliment your sister, and she responds with a soft smile, her fingers nervously dancing with the edges of her purse.
“Thanks, you look incredible too,” she smiles warmly, and together you descend the stairs to join the other girls.
Ara, Soo-ah, and Ha-rin await you downstairs, adorned in stunning gowns for the night’s gala in town. The charity event, featuring an auction, aims to raise funds for the local hospital’s children’s ward. Ara stuns in a radiant red dress, Soo-ah elegantly dons baby blue, prompting you to ponder if it’s her favorite color, and Ha-rin exudes sophistication in a black gown. The quartet, a vision of beauty, gathers in the kitchen, the air buzzing with excitement for the glamorous night ahead.
“Ready for an enchanting evening, everyone?” you inquire, casting a smile across the group, your eyes dancing with anticipation.
“Yeah!” Soo-ah cheers with infectious joy, and without a second thought, you all rush to the door, hitch up your dresses, and dash into the yard, the relentless rain already kissing your gowns with its playful touch.
You hastily hop into the car, and Jessi swiftly ignites the engine, reversing out of the yard. The rain’s symphony dances on the windshield, while the sun gracefully sets, painting the sky in captivating shades of gold and pink.
Jessi navigates the road with precision, and the group settles into a comfortable ease. Casual conversations and light-hearted jokes fill the air, yet your mind strays elsewhere, tethered to thoughts of Jimin. Anticipating his presence at the gala, you resolve to keep a careful distance, aware that the crowd might offer a shield for the avoidance you seek.
Navigating the rain-drenched roads adds extra time to your journey into town, but finally, you pull up in front of City Hall. The building itself seems to have donned its best attire for the occasion, adorned with banners and a vibrant red carpet that unfurls invitingly through the grand entrance.
As Jessi skillfully parks the car, you hastily step out, seeking refuge under the overhang of the building to escape the relentless rain. A quick scan of the parking lot reveals the presence of Jimin and Jungkook’s trucks, instantly causing a pang in your chest. The prospect of encountering Jimin tonight tightens your heart, and you brace yourself for the emotional storm that might follow.
“Ugh I fucking hate the rain,” Soo-ah groans beside you, her disdain for the downpour resonating with your own sentiments. Your chuckle, a small escape from the damp reality, lingers in the misty air.
Ensuring everyone is prepared, you lead the way into the grand hall. The opulence hits you instantly – a symphony of golds and reds creating a lavish spectacle. The vast space is adorned with small, round tables draped in rich red cloth, each topped with flickering candles. Towards the front, a podium commands attention, surrounded by carefully curated art pieces. Among them, proudly displayed, are a couple of your own paintings, awaiting their moment in tonight’s charitable auction.
Approaching the guys, you’re met with a sight to behold—Jungkook impeccably clad in a black tux adorned with subtle stripes, while Yoongi and Hoseok exude charm in their tuxedos, each strand of hair meticulously styled. Embracing them warmly, your attention shifts to Jimin, not far off, accompanied by his stunning girlfriend. The duo radiates elegance, and you can’t help but curse Jimin silently for his undeniable allure— his ass looks so good in those pants. His tux drapes his frame flawlessly, accentuating every curve, and you catch yourself practically drooling before quickly averting your eyes.
Spotting his gaze directed your way, you respond with a silent nod. Despite your desire to keep your distance, you choose the path of politeness, offering this small acknowledgment in the crowded elegance of the gala.
The room swells with a mix of familiar faces and strangers. Across the expanse, you catch sight of Namjoon and Seokjin at a neighboring table. With a warm smile, you extend a friendly wave in their direction.
As the auction commences, you navigate through the crowd toward a table, silently grateful for opting for low heels to spare your feet. A glass of champagne in hand, you join Yoongi, Hoseok, Soo-ah, and Ara at a table. Meanwhile, Ha-rin has engaged in a lively conversation with Namjoon and Seokjin across the room, their friendship evident even from a distance.
Jessi and Jungkook are stationed at a table alongside Jimin and Deiji, and a scoff escapes you when your gaze lands on Jimin. The silence between you two remains, a lack of surprise settling in as a familiar companion at this point.
He appears incredibly alluring, like a full-course meal, and something stirs within your veins—a concoction of anger and jealousy, perhaps. The desire to speak to him, to feel his touch, clashes with the urge to tear him apart. Later, the thought of dancing with him lingers, but the awkwardness stemming from his radio silence and the undeniable truth that he isn’t yours keeps you at a wary distance.
The auctioneer’s voice becomes a distant murmur, his words lost in the whirl of paintings and various items on the stand. Your attention, however, is not tethered to the auction; instead, it’s ensnared by the intensity in Jimin’s gaze. The way his eyes lock onto yours mirrors a familiarity, reminiscent of the look he gave you weeks ago during Jessi’s cast celebration dinner. The unspoken depth in his eyes unsettles you, inducing a subtle sweat, nervous energy, and an involuntary gulp.
With no refuge in sight, you attempt to anchor yourself in the rhythm of your heartbeat, a desperate bid to quell the storm of emotions swirling within you.
Indeed— sin personified gazes your way, but what does it matter? His silence, his refusal to engage, grates on your last nerves. You know you’re at an auction right now, and it would be weird to talk at this event, but dammit, he could just come over and ask you for a talk, pull you off to another room. Anything, really.
A sly smile graces your lips as Yoongi playfully nudges your shoulder, and you, in turn, lean into the comfort of his presence. A subtle shift in Jimin’s gaze doesn’t go unnoticed, the intensity of his eyes deepening as the unspoken tension weaves through the air.
Hoseok playfully nudges you as your vibrant red painting graces the auction stage. Surprisingly, an elegant elderly lady becomes enamored with it, bidding generously and claiming it as her own. Gratitude swells within you, knowing that the proceeds will contribute to a worthy cause.
Jimin’s unwavering gaze continues to linger on you, an irritation bubbling within. You question why he can’t redirect his attention to his girlfriend or, at the very least, the ongoing auction.
The auction unfolds in the background, but your focus remains unyielding to the bidding, stolen by the persistent gaze of the blonde man. His intense gaze feels like he’s stripping you down with his eyes. Yet you remain nonchalant, indifferent to his silent advances.
During a brief respite, as delectable appetizers circulate the room, you discreetly savor the miniature delights, determinedly diverting your attention from Jimin as per your original strategy.
Abruptly, you interject into the group’s conversation, “Is there something on my face?” Their perplexed gazes pivot towards you, uncertain of the sudden inquiry.
As you munch on a bite of food, you nonchalantly toss in, “Jimin keeps giving me these intense stares, and I just don’t get it.”
Yoongi and Hoseok share a knowing chuckle, their eyes reflecting a camaraderie that Soo-ah and Ara immediately catch onto, shooting you looks of playful understanding.
“No, there’s nothing on your face,” Soo-ah says with a teasing smile, her words dripping with a playful undertone.
“Maybe you should talk to him?” Ara suggests, her voice carrying a gentle note of encouragement, like a flicker of a candle in the dim room of uncertainty.
“He doesn’t want to talk, and I hardly think this is the place for it…” you say, the words hanging in the air like a fleeting sigh, drowned out by the buzz of conversations around you as you take a thoughtful sip of your champagne.
You redirect your attention to the auctioneer, a black vase taking center stage this time. As the bidding unfolds, you indulge in another sip of champagne, feeling the effervescent bubbles dance teasingly across your tongue, a subtle distraction from the tension in the room.
As the final gavel falls, signaling the end of the auction, a wave of relief washes over you. The speakers come alive with soulful melodies, casting a warm ambiance over the room. To your surprise, the atmosphere becomes infectious, and you observe couples from other tables swaying to the rhythmic tunes. A chuckle escapes you, realizing you’ve never been one to dance at such formal events. Nevertheless, the music’s allure beckons, and you find yourself succumbing to the rhythm, ready to embrace the unexpected joy of the night.
Yoongi seizes your hands, whisking you onto the dance floor in a whirl of laughter and joy. The dance is a delightful blend of fun and friendship, his every move resonating with an infectious rhythm. As you twirl under the dazzling lights, you catch Hoseok’s gaze fixed on Yoongi. Leaning in, you share a whispered observation, “Hoseok’s eyes are practically glued to you, you know?”
His laughter reverberates through the air, a melody that resonates with a warmth you find comforting. “I know,” he chuckles, the sound a harmonious note in the symphony of the evening.
As he smirks, a playful glint in his eyes, you can’t help but reciprocate with a grateful smile. He twirls you around, a dance of understanding, letting you sway out of his embrace only to draw you back in. Oh, the dance you share with him is a temporary refuge, a wishful escape from the reality you yearn to change. However, your joy falters as you catch Jimin’s gaze; his eyes, far from angelic, hold a mysterious intensity that pierces through the rhythm of the music.
With a chuckle, Yoongi leans in, “Jimin’s got his eyes on you too.”
“I’ve felt his eyes on me since we walked through that door,” you admit with a sigh, your gaze wandering over the dance floor where your sister twirls with Jungkook, and Ha-rin gracefully dances with Seokjin.
“You should consider talking to him,” he suggests again, but you dismiss the idea with a subtle shake of your head.
“I doubt it would make any difference, honestly,” you laugh, pressing your body into Yoongi’s. His warmth envelops you, and for a brief moment, in his embrace, everything feels like it might just be okay.
Taking a step back from Yoongi, you express the need for a break. As you make your way back to the table to sip on more champagne, you observe Yoongi inviting Hoseok to dance, a proposal met with a willing agreement. Soo-ah joins you at the table, casting a gentle gaze in your direction.
“You danced with Hoseok?” You inquire, your gaze softened with curiosity.
“I did,” she admits with a smile. “He’s a really nice guy.” You nod, acknowledging her words. However, you can’t shake the understanding that someone in your circle might end up with a bruised heart, considering both Yoongi and Soo-ah have affections for Hoseok.
As you watch Hoseok and Yoongi gracefully moving on the dance floor, impressed by Hoseok’s skilled control over his body, a genuine smile plays on your lips. However, that fleeting moment of joy is interrupted as you sense the weight of brown eyes piercing into your back. Turning around, you find Jimin dancing intimately with Deiji, the intensity of his gaze making your smile fade.
You observe Jimin and Deiji dancing cheek to cheek, their bodies pressed tightly together, making you scoff and redirect your attention to Soo-ah. Just as you try to shake off the unsettling sight, a tap on your shoulder interrupts your thoughts. You turn around to find Hoseok, his bright smile inviting, “Do you want to dance?”
You seize his hand, allowing him to whisk you onto the dance floor, reminiscent of how Yoongi did earlier. Hoseok effortlessly twirls you around, evoking laughter that bubbles up from deep within. Knowing you’re not the most adept dancer, you surrender to his guidance, and he proves to be exceptionally skilled at leading you through the dance.
Amid the enjoyment, a surge of audacity overcomes you, prompting an uncharacteristic move. “What do you think about Yoongi?” The words spill out unexpectedly, catching Hoseok off guard, a reaction vividly displayed on his face. A chuckle escapes you as you revel in the spontaneity of the moment.
“What do you mean?” he asks, catching off guard.
Unable to contain your mischievous grin, you lean in and tease, “You know he likes you, right?” As the words escape your lips, you’re conscious of the trust you might be breaking but convinced that mingling is the key to any potential connection. Hoseok, though initially shocked, isn’t repulsed as you feared. Instead, his eyes widen, and a subtle pink tint adorns his cheeks, leaving you wondering how he’ll respond.
“He does?” Hoseok stammers, caught off guard and missing a beat. Your chuckle only intensifies as you nod in confirmation. The revelation lingers in the air, and you sense that you might not have to do much more to set things in motion.
As you continue to dance, a comfortable silence envelops you both before Hoseok breaks it, his words hanging in the air, “You know Jimin likes you too.”
You roll your eyes, well aware of the situation. “Yeah, not much to do about it when he has a girlfriend,” you admit with a wry smile. Despite Hoseok’s good intentions, you’ve firmly decided not to act on your feelings while Jimin is still in a relationship. It’s a line you won’t cross.
You dance a little longer until Yoongi is at your side again, grabbing your arm and pulling you into his embrace. He wears a curious smile as he asks, “What were you talking about with Hoseok?”
You chuckle softly, “I told him.”
He glances at you, a puzzled expression on his face, “Told him what?”
“That you’ve got a crush on him,” you declare, matter-of-factly, in a hushed tone meant just for the two of you. However, with the rain tapping on the roof and the music playing, it’s a challenge to catch every word.
Yoongi’s expression doesn’t exactly radiate joy, but there’s a subtle softness to his features, an almost-relaxed demeanor. He releases a frustrated sigh, raking a hand through his hair in apparent exasperation.
“I’m sorry. I know it isn’t my place to say anything. But he actually seemed intrigued!” You share, your words riding the rhythm of the music as you sway with Yoongi. His tension eases, and he responds with a soft expression, a subtle acknowledgment of the revelation.
“It’s okay,” he breathes out, “it wasn’t your place, but it’s fine.”
You lean into him, embracing him gently and offering a reassuring pat on the back. In that moment, you catch Jimin’s gaze fixed on you once again. The repetitive stares leave you puzzled. Why is he focused on you instead of his girlfriend?
You feel your heart quicken, your nostrils flare, and your hands clench around Yoongi’s back. He pulls you away, confusion etched on his face, questioning what’s wrong. But you see red. It’s reached a boiling point. The anger simmers inside you, consuming every inch of your being, and with determination, you let go of Yoongi and stride purposefully over to Jimin and Deiji.
Standing before them, you take a deep inhale, a turbulent storm of emotions brewing beneath your skin. “Why the hell are you staring at me like that?” Your voice slices through the ambient sounds, a piercing question that fractures the comfortable cocoon around Jimin and Deiji. Jimin slowly turns to face you, his expression shifting from surprise to a somber acknowledgment, as if he’s been caught in the act of something he’d rather keep hidden.
“Shouldn’t your eyes be on your girlfriend, huh? Why the fuck do you keep gazing at me? Look at your damn girlfriend!” you hiss, your hands tightly clenched at your sides, radiating with anger.
“And while you’re at it, why the fuck can’t you talk to me like a normal human being?” you raise your voice, the anger boiling so fiercely within you that you feel breathless as you unleash your words.
“You’re a damn coward, aren’t you? You shouldn’t be casting your eyes my way when you have a girlfriend right there!” You jab your finger accusingly at her, and she flinches, uncertain about how to react. Jimin simply gazes at you, as though you’ve lost your marbles—and maybe you have, because the words keep pouring out.
“You fucking jerk. If you had the decency to communicate, to use your damn voice instead of making baseless assumptions, we wouldn’t be in this ridiculous situation!” You huff, the waves of anger radiating from your body. The sudden realization hits you that the entire room is now fixated on the spectacle, and an eerie silence envelops the space, punctuated only by the intensity of your heated words.
Yoongi steps up beside you, a silent force attempting to ground you, but you refuse to yield. The torrent of anger surges within you, and with an accusatory finger, you unleash your fury on Jimin.
“I fucking hate you! You’re stupid. I hate you. I fucking hate you. I love you. I fucking hate you. I hate you so fucking much!” Your words, laden with venom, spill from your lips in a torrent of conflicting emotions. You seethe, feeling strangely lighter, though the room spins around you. Yoongi releases your arm, his face a mix of shock, and confusion mirrors the peculiar glances from those around you, leaving you wondering why everyone is now looking at you even more strangely than before.
“You fucking bastard. Stop looking at me like that,” you hiss at Jimin, catching him off guard. Deiji wears a displeased expression, and Jimin’s features soften in a way that leaves you utterly bewildered.
Deiji appears visibly irritated, and you’re left wondering if her frustration is directed at you or if she shares your exasperation for Jimin. As the tension simmers, Jimin unexpectedly breaks into laughter, his audacity fueling the fire of your anger. The laughter grates on your nerves, aggravating you further. Why on earth is he finding amusement in this situation? There’s nothing remotely funny about it, intensifying the blaze of your already fiery emotions.
You jab your accusatory finger at him once more, your voice cutting through the tension, “Stop laughing. This isn’t funny!”
Your voice may carry the tone of an angered child denied its desires, but you couldn’t care less. In this moment, you’re finally confronting Jimin, even if the conversation seems to be one-sided.
You observe as he parts his lips, ready to utter words that you don’t wish to hear.
“I don’t want to hear it! You know what? I’m done!” You hiss in frustration, ready to pivot away from the awkward situation, aware of the collective gaze of all the guests upon you. As you start to turn, Jimin’s firm grip on your wrist stops you, compelling you to face him again.
“You can stick your dick where the sun doesn’t shine!” You shriek, wrenching your arm free, and storming out of the building. The erratic thumping of your heart resonates like a dissonant ringing in your ears, mirroring the chaos within.
Gasping frantically for air, your breath catching in turbulent spasms, you step outside, feeling as if your body is unraveling at the seams. Collapsing on the stairs, you surrender to the tremors of anger pulsating through you. Attempting to regain composure, you strive to slow your breath, but the task proves as challenging as holding back a tempest.
Regret floods your senses, a torrent of remorse for every word unleashed in the heat of anger, half of them lost to the haze of fury. The weight of all eyes fixed upon you, their gaze searing into your soul, amplifies the desire for the ground to open up and engulf you whole.
What transpired in that room, and how did it all spiral into such chaos?

A symphony of hooves shatters the tranquility of your peaceful slumber, jerking you awake. Rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you hurry to the window to witness the commotion outside. In the distance, a captivating spectacle unfolds — a wild herd of horses, led by the majestic brown stallion, thundering across the landscape. These creatures have become frequent visitors, drawing nearer to the ranch with each passing day. Curiosity grips you; what secrets do these untamed spirits carry, and why do they venture closer to your haven?
With a contented sigh, you wearily make your way back to your bed, sinking into its welcoming embrace. A spontaneous yawn escapes, accompanied by a luxurious stretch that sends waves of relaxation through your well-rested body. The simple joy of a peaceful night’s sleep settles over you, like a comforting blanket enveloping your weary soul.
Entering the bathroom, you brace yourself for the day ahead. Under the rejuvenating spray of a quick shower, you allow the cascading water to serve as a cleansing force, washing away not only yesterday’s mistakes but also the lingering regret that clings to your every thought. The steam clouds your reflection, a metaphorical veil between the past and the potential for a better today.
The bracing cold water jolts you into wakefulness, a refreshing prelude to the day ahead. As rivulets of water cascade down, you ensure every trace of sleep is banished, emerging invigorated and ready for the rigors of another day on the ranch. Donning a weathered shirt, worn-in pants, and your trusty boots, you complete the ensemble with the signature hat that shields your face from the sun’s relentless gaze. Descending the stairs, you find Ara in the kitchen, skillfully crafting a sandwich for her morning appetite.
“Hey there!” you chirp, a grin lighting up your face, buoyed by the rare joy of a restful night’s sleep. A subtle acknowledgment forms in your mind—thankful for your sister and Jungkook opting for a night at his place, granting you the serenity that fueled the upbeat mood.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” Ara inquires, her attention focused on putting away the butter, as if carefully choosing the moment to meet your eyes.
“Actually, leave it out. I could use one too,” you interject, and Ara obligingly retrieves the butter, finally meeting your gaze. “As for how I’m doing—just fine.”
She hands you the butter and a knife, a wry smile playing on her lips, “Some party, huh?”
She chuckles, and you roll your eyes. The weight of her laughter only intensifies your embarrassment, a vivid reminder of the scene you created at the gala. You find yourself wishing for the ground to open up and spare you from the aftermath of your emotional outburst. Why did you have to make such a spectacle?
Damn you and your relentless emotions. Now the whole world, or at least everyone at the gala, knows the depth of your disdain for Jimin, you assume. You bury your face in your hands, releasing a frustrated grunt. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to create such a spectacle.”
Ara’s laughter rings out, much to your dismay, intensifying the furrow in your brow. You don’t see the humor; you’ve practically made a fool of yourself in front of everyone.
“Well, we all had a blast,” she laughs, a beautiful smile playing on her lips, “I’m sure Jimin is having a good laugh about it too.”
You roll your eyes once more, highly skeptical. After all, you called him so many terrible names, didn’t allow him a word in, and basically told him to stick it in his ass.
Wonderful. Great. Peachy. Words that utterly fail to capture the chaotic storm of emotions swirling within you at this very moment. The vivid memories of your passionate outburst yesterday haunt you, casting a shadow over any semblance of composure. There’s a lingering wish to escape the possibility of encountering Jimin and his girlfriend again, but deep down, you acknowledge that luck doesn’t favor you so generously.
You hastily slather butter onto your bread, devouring it in its pure simplicity. The imminent need to depart gnaws at you; the day awaits, beckoning you to gallop over to the Bell ranch, where the untamed spirits of the wild horses entwine with the shared endeavors of you and Yoongi.
“I have to go,” you declare, snatching the bread in your mouth, and dash outdoors toward the barn. The sun, now radiantly shining, bestows a sense of hope upon your day, propelling you forward with anticipation.
As you saddle up Marshmallow and guide him outdoors, a faint sound begins to patter on the roof—a soft, rhythmic reminder of the rain.
Out in the open, the rain embraces you in seconds, a relentless downpour that draws a scoff. Undeterred, you plant your foot in the stirrup and swing the other leg over, urging Marshmallow into a full gallop. The rain pelts your face, but you ride on, indifferent to the weather’s challenge.
As you ride, thoughts of Jimin’s expression at the gala linger in your mind. Despite his initial composure, his face betrayed offense and anger, as if restraining the urge to shout back. He stood there, his girlfriend by his side, absorbing every word you hurled at him. Regret tugs at you, but the words are irreversible, a turbulent exchange you can’t undo, even if you wished otherwise.
A yearning lingers within you, hoping that Jimin would have retorted, engaged in a verbal sparring, or at least defended himself. However, his silence echoes louder than any words, leaving you to ponder the significance of his unspoken response.
You sense that words were poised on the tip of Jimin’s tongue, ready to spill out, but a conscious decision to shield yourself from his potential revelations compelled you to shut down any communication before it began.
The peculiar weather paints a contradictory scene: raindrops cascade, yet the sun defiantly radiates its warmth, creating a surreal ambiance. In the midst of this meteorological paradox, a double rainbow graces the distant horizon. The sight, both enchanting and whimsical, elicits a genuine smile, urging you to spur Marshmallow into an even faster gallop. Each rhythmic beat of his hooves seems to synchronize with the cadence of your heart, a determined attempt to outride the persistent thoughts of Jimin that linger in your mind.
As the ranch emerges on the horizon, a welcoming sight after the turbulent events, you guide Marshmallow down to the pen where Yoongi and Hoseok eagerly await your arrival. Skillfully securing Marshmallow to the fence, you exchange greetings with the two men, the atmosphere pregnant with anticipation for the day’s tasks on the ranch.
Hoseok’s laughter greets you even before you utter a single word, prompting an eye roll from you in response.
As Yoongi dedicates himself to the fiery-red mare once more, you find your way to the fence, settling in next to Hoseok with a sense of camaraderie.
“Nice gala, huh?” Hoseok teases, raising his eyebrows in a way that suggests he’s well aware of the evening’s drama. You respond with a loud groan, wondering why people find the need to rub your failures in your face.
“Shit. I regret how I behaved. It’s so embarrassing,” you confess, closing your eyes as if wishing to erase yesterday from existence.
“I understand. But it was fun to watch,” he laughs heartily, his entire being pulsating with mirth.
You shift your gaze downward to Yoongi in the pen, “Have you noticed the herd of wild horses getting closer?”
Yoongi nods knowingly, “Yeah.”
You observe the mare’s lively movements before turning your attention back to Yoongi, “What do you think it means?”
Yoongi looks up from the mare, his expression serious, “Nothing good.”

“y/n, have you considered purchasing glasses?”
ironically, the question made you narrow your eyes at namjoon, who was mindlessly passing out glasses for the table. some of the boys stifled laughs and you wondered what that was about. you were catching them up on how jungkook has been helping you around the farm - albeit, not recently. every time things seemed to be all right, there was an almost kiss that was followed by someone taking distance. the first time, it was jungkook. now, it was you.
“what are you talking about?” you asked, just as jungkook walked through the front doors of the saloon.
it was a holiday, so everyone decided to take the day off and hoseok closed up the pub from the public. that left you and your friends to claim the saloon as your hangout spot for the night. unlike everyone else, you still had things to take care of, having got up early and tended to the livestock. even though you did cut your day short, finishing up by lunch-time, you were tired from the preceding seven day work week. it was about time you had a drink.
jungkook gave a small wave to everyone and sat himself in between seokjin and jimin, across from you. “sorry, i’m late. i was dropping jiwon at mrs. oh’s and she forgot her ipad,” he said.
“we haven’t sat down and drank in a while with all of us, it’s nice that we’re all here,” remarked namjoon, apparently brushing off your previous question.
some time had passed since the everyone in the group was able to hang out together, the last time being movie night at taehyung’s house. therefore, some time had passed since things got weird between you and jungkook. you wouldn’t call the first incident during breakfast-dinner an “almost kiss,” since you weren’t even sure if jungkook wanted to kiss you or it was all in your head. as for the night of jiwon’s disappearance, that was definitely more of a kiss than the other, but you dismissed it as something done in the heat of a vulnerable moment. given the conflicting suggestions from those around you, you had decided to take it easy and let him have his distance.
apparently, jungkook did not like that and you were about to learn this.
you crinkled your nose at the shots being poured. “i haven’t played a drinking game in so long.”
hoseok, who was doing the honours, shook his head. “it’s okay, you definitely won’t lose. jimin is a lightweight,” he grinned, but jimin didn’t look the slightest bit fazed.
“i’m not embarrassed. getting drunk faster means i spend less money,” jimin countered, which you thought was actually a good point.
beside you, taehyung slid over a shot glass closer to you, since hoseok was at the other end of the table. you thanked him casually, but you swore you noticed jungkook’s eyes trained on the interaction. you wanted to scoff, since this was exactly what he was encouraging with taehyung, despite the fact that he was the individual in your friend group that you talked the least to. that was the most baffling part.
“y/n can definitely drink. you had, like, four bottles to yourself last week,” seokjin commented.
that immediately got jungkook’s attention. “last week?” he asked, voice an octave too high to be dismissed as a casual question.
“yeah,” answered taehyung. “a few of us got dinner last week. i think you said no one could watch jiwon.”
“why, would you have changed your mind if you knew y/n was going to be th - “ yoongi started, but was cut off by two sharp elbow jabs from both sides, courtesy of namjoon and seokjin.
on the other hand, you only accepted the invite because they mentioned jungkook couldn’t make it. it was to the same tune of you leaving book club early when jungkook made the meeting thirty minutes late or you helping namjoon with preparations for the midsummer fair only during jungkook’s working hours. you also avoided the general store for any errands, leaving you with a broken mop that couldn’t be replaced because of you staying away from him.
when jungkook got up to take a phone call, jimin poked you. “jungkook told me he thinks you’re avoiding him.” his voice was low, leaving the conversation to only be heard between the two of you.
  “huh? oh, yeah, i am.”
the way his mouth dropped made you want to laugh. “what? why?”
“i need to sort myself out. he should also,” you answered, shrugging. it looked like jimin wanted to ask more, but jungkook returned and the talk ceased.
yoongi brought playing cards and the eight of you began a random game, which he explained the rules for. although the bar was empty, save for your group, voices filled the establishment to the brim. music flowed in the background amidst the way conversation did and it only grew with the more soju being poured. you did make a mental note to find some female friends in town, though, having to chastise some of the boys for jokes that they could have been cancelled for.
eventually, you had quite a few drinks, despite never being on the losing end for any of the games, which would usually call for the player to do so. at some point, a glass of water magically appeared in front of you. you turned to see that it was who jungkook had gotten up from his seat, now putting the pitcher of water back behind the bar.
the conversation moved to talking about the midsummer festival, which only grew rowdy once drinks were poured.
“i bet you fifty bucks that you won’t find a date.” it was yoongi who sung the dare to jimin, who immediately accepted the challenge.
namjoon sighed, as he dealt cards across the table. “or you guys can be productive members of society and help me out by running a booth.”
“oh! what booth do you need help with?” seokjin asked, slowly and a little too rehearsed. you looked at him oddly, wondering why he was talking like that and why he was side-eying namjoon the whole time.
namjoon sighed deeply at seokjin, eyes wide like he was about to slap him. “the kissing booth,” he answered, through gritted teeth, and you could catch the boys snickering at the scene.
again, with a mischievous glint in his eye, yoongi spoke up. “oh? y/n, you should do it. everyone in town thinks you’re a beauty.”
you opened your mouth to respond, but was interrupted.
“yeah, if you want to get sick,” jungkook instantly cut in, out of nowhere. “do you know how many germs a kissing booth will spread? hyung, don’t you think it’s a bit irresponsible to hold one?” it was like he couldn’t stop talking, despite the fact that he’d been silent for the last little while and suddenly had a burst of passion about kissing booths.
the debate continued on, as hoseok poured yet another round of shots for the eight of you. you only really listened on, mostly confused because this was the first you heard of this idea. while helping namjoon and mayor kim with the festival preparations, there was not a single mention of a kissing booth in the plans. you narrowed your eyes at namjoon, who gave you a random thumbs up under the table.
meanwhile, jungkook had yet to directly interact with you since the night started. you could understand why and the more you had to drink, the more you wanted to clear the air without holding back. there had yet to be an opportunity, though.
“i’m going out for a smoke,” announced jungkook after just under three hours passed.
the alcohol in your system spoke for you before you even realized. “i’ll come.”
“no, it’s bad for you,” jungkook shot back in a heartbeat, eyebrows raised at your response. “you don’t smoke.” he waved something cylindrical in his hand, shiny and metallic. you made it out to be a grinder.
to your side, seokjin pouted. “but, we were winning the game!” the two of you claimed victory for the past three rounds in a row, partaking in a game for partners and the eight of you evening things out for teams.
your competitive side definitely came out during the drinking, even despite being under the influence. it maybe had something to do with the fact that jungkook immediately claimed taehyung as his partner earlier, nearly jumping out of his seat when he did so. when you asked him why he was so hasty, jungkook replied that it was because he was ready to beat you and taehyung was the best at the game after himself.
“are you guys going to talk now? i’m tired of the tension,” yoongi pleaded, but was hushed by taehyung and wasn’t heard by either you or jungkook.
taehyung cleared his throat. “it’s okay, i’ll be your partner, jin hyung.” he rubbed his temples, looking at you and jungkook. “you guys can join in the next round.”
“i smoke,” you insisted to jungkook. this wasn’t entirely false, as it was something you gravitated towards in social settings only. with a few drinks in your system, this was a likely time for you to accept a joint, whether it was with jungkook or not.
jungkook cocked an eyebrow at you. “fine. you can roll then,” he said, as if testing you.
evidently, you ended up failing the test and jungkook finally found the one thing you weren’t good at.
outside and through the back door of the saloon, you and jungkook were propped up on some large boulders. like it always was, the stars were out and twinkling in a mesmerizing fashion. in your tipsy state, they were way too bright. meanwhile, across from where you sat, jungkook was watching you struggle with the rolling papers in between your fingers. he snickered to himself, taking a sip of the beer that he brought with him.
the blistering and sweltering of the summer air called for clothing that didn’t suffocate you, but you felt naked under jungkook’s gaze. you wore a mustard yellow tube top and men’s basketball shorts, a pair that you stole from your ex, while your hair was pulled back into a high ponytail. your legs swung back and forth, your feet not even close to touching the ground while sitting on the boulder, and you were wearing flip flops from the general store.
“when i met you at the funeral again, you were wearing high heels and satin,” jungkook randomly commented, the alcohol failing to conceal his once over of your appearance. “even on your first day, you were wearing platforms.”
you were certainly blushing from his stare, but the nightfall concealed the red of your bashfulness. “i guess the last two months changed me already.” you didn’t realize that jungkook remembered such details long after the fact.
he took a swig from his bottle. “don’t get me wrong. i like you both ways,” jungkook offered and the redness on your cheeks spread to the rest of your face.
you didn’t want to push him and ask what he meant by that. he was certainly right, though, your time in amber valley was already drastically affecting you. yet, it was easy to miss, especially after you finally found the right tune to your routine. though your new life was hard work, you’d never felt so easygoing and waking up never felt like a chore. when your backyard was beautiful fields, sunflowers grew in front of your house and your best friends were your stubborn chickens, life was no longer one of stressful hustle.
jungkook made you break away from your thoughts, speaking up again to cut the silence. “you know, anytime before i turn forty would be nice.”
you furrowed your eyebrows and then realized he was gesturing to the papers and his grinder in your lap, remembering the task you had at hand. “oh, sorry. forgot what i was doing,” you responded.
he chuckled and you nearly trembled when he hopped off his boulder, strolling towards you. before you knew it, jungkook stood right in front of you, so close you could bump head. he swiped the materials from your lap - just barely brushing his hands on your legs. this time, unlike the moment you shared at dinner, something told you that jungkook knew what he was doing because he looked immediately up at you when he did so.
when jungkook didn’t move, it was your turn to break the silence and admittedly, it took all your strength. “you’ve had a couple drinks. you want to smoke later?” you suggested, finding the bravery to look right back at him through your eyelashes.
he stuck out his bottom lip and shook his head, as if to say it was no big deal. instead of going back to his previous sitting space, jungkook leaned on the tree just a few feet away from you and set his bottle on your side.
“we have the day off, relax a bit,” he said breezily, raising the papers to his mouth and applied the tiniest bit of moisture from his lips. you recalled the way they looked in your recurring dreams and suddenly found the ground the most interesting thing in the world.
you replied, “i am relaxed,” and took his bottle from beside you, taking a gulp.
you felt his eyes burning into you and as the alcohol went down your throat, the sensation felt less and less hot. instead, you were inclined to meet his eyes again and when you did, you saw that your suspicions were correct. jungkook was still looking right at you.
the distraction pulled your attention away with what jungkook was fumbling around with in his hands and before your very eyes, he held up perfectly neat joint between his thumb and index. it took a grand total over less than two minutes.
“done,” jungkook announced, as he began feeling his pockets for a lighter.
you gaped. “that was insanely fast.”
he snorted. “i shouldn’t have asked you. pretty girls have men rolling for them all the time, why am i surprised that you couldn’t do it?” it sounded like jungkook was teasing you, but his expression remained serious.
“jeon jungkook, you’ve been talking a lot tonight,” you voiced, mindlessly playing with your hair.
you weren’t sure if your words were ones of warning or encouragement, since the only thing you could focus on was how jungkook just called you pretty. meanwhile, it was hard to resist taking another sip of jungkook’s drink, hoping it would ease your heart rate. you did so, taking a larger gulp than before, and you noticed the way he frowned when watching you.
“have i?” jungkook questioned, putting the joint between his lips and clicked his lighter, bringing it close to his face and letting the tip turn a deep orange. sterling smoke filled your surroundings, but he was clear as day.
you nodded slowly. “more than usual. and that’s with that big mouth of yours,” you added, hoping that cracking a joke would make you at ease.
it didn’t. jungkook’s lips did tug into a smile, but you were more distracted with the way that he looked blowing out clouds of smoke - honestly, he was pretty. his lips were pretty and his heavy lids were pretty. the way he voice grew raspy as the night went on and more so when he smoked was pretty.
you realized that you were staring now too and only realized when jungkook gently took his bottle away from your grip. he sighed, placing it on the ground to pick up later.
“and you haven’t talked much. that means you shouldn’t have more of this,” he asserted, even despite your whines of objection. “when your big mouth is quiet, that’s trouble. you have something on your mind?”
“then pass the joint,” you said, folding your arms across your chest.
jungkook immediately burst out laughing, which annoyed you. “absolutely not. you’re drunk and you couldn’t roll, so that means you don’t need to get high.”
you pouted, which was extremely out of character for you and made jungkook laugh even more. “what? no.”
“i’m the one who’s going to be walking you home safe, so i’d like to do it with a peace of mind, thanks,” he said, tilting his head slightly as he examined the state you were in.
it never occurred to you to ask any of the boys to make sure that you could get home safely and no one offered. you were confident that you could make it home just fine, but didn’t realize that jungkook had already made it his responsibility to look after you.
“you know,” you began, “you used to always throw a fit when your mom asked you to walk me home.”
that was one of your most vivid memories from your childhood in amber valley. even though jungkook was technically younger than you, it was his job to be by your side. it was one of the things that you got teased about back then, mostly by jimin in his devilish phase.
“you used to get pissed off, but you walked me home every time. i feel like when i look back, i can remember so much of us just walking or riding our horses as kids. i don’t really remember where we were going or what we were up to - only you were always by my side.”
jungkook looked down, kicking a rock. “safe to say i’ve never had a friend like you?” he hesitated.
it seemed like every time someone uttered the “f” word, the tension thickened like molasses. it was like a rapid game of table tennis, the way the two of you bounced the word back and forth at each other, hoping the other person would finally give up. at this moment, you and jungkook both looked like you were ready to wave the white flag.
but, of course, you were both too competitive to lose.
shoving your feelings away, you hopped off the boulder and made steps towards jungkook. he instinctively straightened, no longer leaning on the tree when he watched you approach. instead, he peered down at you, a questioning look glimmering in his eyes.
“let me have some,” you demanded, pointing at his hand. “i didn’t come outside just to chat with you.”
“oh, you didn’t?” jungkook countered, as if you were lying through your teeth and he knew it. “you didn’t come outside to be with me?”
the words he spoke were sharp and challenged you. you weren’t even sure how to grasp them and by jungkook’s silence, neither did he. he paused for a moment, as if pondering his choices. your feet were planted in the ground, as it was your turn to stand inches away from him and used this to show you weren’t afraid of his challenge.
eventually, jungkook chuckled in disbelief. without moving, he brought the lighter to the joint once more, ensuring it was lit. he leaned back into the tree and you were about to object, thinking he was going to refuse your request again. then, instead of handing the joint to you, jungkook turned it around and used his other hand to pull you closer by the arm. you stumbled ahead, nearly chest to chest with jungkook.
“here,” jungkook said and you were confused.
he held the joint up, licking his lips and didn’t move. you realized he was holding it for you. jungkook even moved strands of hair from the front of your face and you knew he saw you shiver. as soon as you saw what he waa doing, without missing a beat, you leaned in ever so slightly and looked right up at him when you did. you closed your lips around the tip, the sensation filling your lungs, and he watched you intently. as you inhaled, you found yourself leaning even further into his touch, legs now touching.
nobody moved when you finished and you coughed gently in the other direction after exhaling. he playfully patted your back, as you let it out. you took one more inhale and then, he brought it back to his own lips.
“good girl,” he murmured and your mouth went dry, which was definitely not a result of the weed.
when you composed yourself, you were aware of how close you two were now standing to each other. it felt like another challenge, to see who would move first. neither of you lost, unlike last time.
“you’ve been avoiding me,” you finally blurted out, but jungkook didn’t seem to mind. in fact, his expression remained blank and unreadable, which was driving you crazy.
jungkook responded, “you mean you’ve been avoiding me?” his voice was lower and neared a whisper of a volume.
  “i don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“and i don’t know what you’re talking about,” he shot back, before sighing and looking down at his feet. “maybe i have been talking too much tonight, bunny.” his voice dialed back on intensity.
you raised an eyebrow at jungkook. “why, are you holding something back?” the substances in your body were directing you like a puppet, but it was all thoughts and feelings that you’d held captive in your mind for weeks, being released at once.
“you’re making this so difficult,” jungkook grunted, gently pushing you away now, but you didn’t move. “i’m not doing this while you’re drunk.”
“doing what?” you pressed his statements further and stepped closer again. “i’m drunk, but i know what i’m doing.”
jungkook gritted his teeth and instead of responding, he slowly bent down and picked the beer bottle up from the ground. swishing it around slightly, he finished the rest of the liquid in one gulp. you didn’t miss the way he didn’t step back, still at the same proximity and refused to be the first one to move. you also refused, for once.
though you didn't have much to smoke, the high was settling into your muscles and you felt heavier than usual. jungkook gave you a once over again and observed this. he pressed his lips together and came even closer, wrapping his large hand around your wrist.
he carefully tugged you towards the back door. “come on. time to go.”
  “no.”
jungkook pretended to not hear you. “let’s go, you need to sit down.” yet somehow, his tone was unconvincing and his grip lacked intention. it was as if really was he was holding something back.
“why did you tell me to ask taehyung out? are you a child?” you were relentless, commanding questions left and right. you even stared right at him, as the alcohol and weed washed away any anxiety pooling in your stomach.
his jaw visibly clenched. “you’re always so stubborn, you know?” jungkook didn’t sound angry or exasperated, but more so amazed at the attitude you kept up like a brick wall. even he had trouble in your opposition.
“and don’t start with me about avoiding you, i was just taking a page out of the jeon jungkook handbook of communication,” you snapped, letting his question through in one ear and out the other.
  “oh, give me a break - “
“no, now would be a great time to explain yourself,” you demanded.
jungkook clenched his jaw, before taking another drag of his joint and promptly put it out against the tree. even though you felt nothing but frustration run through your veins, it was damning that he looked so good. you were used to his cheery attitude and playfulness, but something about seeing him so serious made your heart jump in different ways.
he finally spoke, “i was trying to give you space at first because you have a lot going on. you’re running the farm all by yourself, you live alone - “
“i’m a grown adult, jungkook! we aren’t kids anymore, you don’t have to protect me!” you cried, voice cracking slightly and when he didn’t answer, you continued. “why are you creating distance between us? do you know how happy i was to have you back in my life after so long?”
quietly, he replied, “i was, too.”
“why are we ignoring what happened at the farmhouse? twice, actually?” you asked, exasperated. “is it because you have jiwon? or, am i imagining things and this is all in my head?”
“stop asking a million questions a minute.”
when jungkook’s voice dropped below a whisper, it snapped you back into the reality in front of you, where his face was inches away from yours.
dreams of you kissing jungkook then flashed before your eyes. the haunting, yet sacchrine images that had been following you around for days clutched onto the confusing emotions that had been following you for the past month and a half. it was clearer now that the gap between the two of you drew smaller and smaller as the conversation went on. it was now at the point where your noses were nearly touching.
“i tried to fight it, every time it got too close. but, last time - “
“last time, you were vulnerable. it would have felt wrong if i. . . “ you trailed off, not daring to finish the sentence. the both of you knew what would have happened if you didn’t pull away during your last night together.
when no one said anything or moved even an inch, jungkook spoke once more. his eyes fell to your lips and this time, he didn’t hide it. they remained fixated until he opened his mouth.
“i dare you,” was all jungkook said.
in your twenty five years of living, you never, ever, not once lost a dare to jeon jungkook. the dare in question needed no verbalization for the two of you to understand. the understanding was crystal clear - it was in the way jungkook’s grip on your wrist somehow turned into a gentle hold of your hand, in the way that he counted the amount of times you bit your lip and it was in the way that nobody wanted to move. the dare sounded playful aloud, but was sharp and impatient.
today was not the day you were going to lose for the first time.
closing the distance between your lips and jungkook’s felt like a slow motion reel, like the entire world braked its rotation just for the two of you. it was as if you could hear each flap of a butterfly’s wings and each leaf on the branches above you rustling in the sticky, summer breeze. there was very little space left between you and jungkook at this point, but the leap to meet his lips you took felt centuries long.
jungkook’s lips were as soft as they looked and his clasp in your hand never loosened, only accompanied by his other arm locking around your waist. you could’ve sworn you heard the clatter of the beer bottle drop against the dirt beneath your feet, but your ears were ringing too loud to be sure. he took you by the waist, enveloping you and pulling you as close as he could, deepening the kiss.
instantly, like being shocked by electricity, you brought your arms around jungkook’s neck and balanced yourself as high as you could on your tippy toes. you swiped your tongue against his lip piercing. the kiss was hungry and lacked any sense of patience. he moaned softly and his other arm finally dropped your hand, only to bring it around your waist to join the other. he lifted you slightly in your kiss, noticing that you struggled to meet his height, and you giggled into the kiss.
jungkook also laughed against your lips and you thought it was finally breaking the tension of the moment. you were proven wrong by yourself, your own body betraying you when you began running your fingers through the hair on the back of his head without even realizing it. jungkook moaned again, louder, at the sensation of you pulling at the strands and bit your bottom lip in response.
“shit, you sure you want to do that?” he warned against your lips, but you were distracted by the way his raspy voice lit all your sensations on fire and you slipped your tongue into the kiss.
the two of you could have been lost in each other’s lips for hours - you wouldn’t be able to tell, completely lost. you stumbled briefly when jungkook led you to turn around and switch with your back against the tree, but he steadied you immediately and held most of your weight without breaking the kiss. he pressed you closer against the tree, now slowing down.
jungkook still had his arms around your body, protecting your bare back from the bark and from tripping before anything. now, though, the kiss was no longer hungry, but still intense as if the two of you continued to drown yourselves in each other’s touch. your lips moved against him slowly, savouring each second. this is when you truly lost track of time.
nobody was going to pull away, even though you could hear jungkook’s phone going off with texts. the only thing that worked was the pattering of raindrops on your head. you ignored it at first and they lessened when jungkook put a hand above your head to protect you. except, the rain only intensified and the two of you needed to catch your breath.
you swore your lips were tingling when you pulled away. jungkook barely moved, forehead to forehead to you. you met his eyes and despite the cold of the rain, his gaze warmed you. the two of you panted in unison, no words needed to say.
“we keep finding ourselves in the rain,” jungkook managed to whisper in between breaths.
you jumped at the aggressive clap of thunder in the distance, the sky flashing for a moment. this was what snapped you out of your daze, unable to shake off the feeling of jungkook’s lips and body against your own. when you jumped, he wrapped his arms tighter against you, protectively. before you let him pull you away back indoors, there was one more thing you had to say.
  “i win.”
the kiss you shared with jungkook was ingrained in your memory and there was no chance of you wiping it away, even if you had a few drinks that night. the kiss jolted you cold sober, more alert than you could ever be. the kiss was stretching your muscles after a long drive. it was what both of you had been holding back for the longest time and you didn’t even know it, until your fingers were tangled in his hair and his strong arms gripped your waist like his life depended on it.
