Chloe made her grand return 3 weeks after Lila and Adrien’s big dating announcement. The bossy blonde had been away in New York with her mother and it was only in retrospect that Marinette briefly wondered if the entire timing of her and Adriens break up and Lila and Adriens announcement had been planned. After all Chloe had not taken well to Marinette dating Adrien and the class president was positive she would not take the news that Lila had swooped in right after their big breakup any better.
As it turns out Marinette had been right at least about Chloe not taking the news well. She’d walked into class early (for her) only to be met with chaos as Chloe and Lila stood opposed and yelling filled the classroom. Despite the fact that Marinette KNEW Chloe would hate whoever dated Adrien the sight was still enough to leave her mildly stunned after all Lila and Chloe had been tag team harassing Marinette since the second she and Adrien had started dating so to see the once allies now locked in a vicious match each using their unique brand of awful against each other… Well it was something.
Luckily Marinette knew she would not have to lift a finger to fix things. Because this? This was Adrien’s problem. And Marinette had no intention of helping or playing mediator. After all Adrien had let Lila and Chloe stomp all over their relationship when they’d still been dating, heck he’d even asked Marinette to simply deal with it so now he could deal with it and Marinette severely doubted that Lila would be even half as accepting or accommodating as she had been.
So while the two wannabe queens duked it out Lila with fake tears and Chloe with vicious mockery Marinette simply glided past the drama and up to her seat where she pulled out her sketchbook and started adding the finishing touches to a sketch of a brand new rock and roll suit for Uncle Jagged. Now that she wasn’t chasing after Adrien 24/7 and making him gifts and worrying about him or Lila or Chloe not to mention trying to keep up with her school work and grades all while also being Ladybug well Marinette had time on her hands and she’d been using it to study, track down Hawkmoth with Alya’s help, spend time with friends but most of all she’d been using that time on her career.
As she wrote in what materials she would need to get a certain sheen effect on the outfit, Marinette noticed the green eyes looking up at her desperately from the front of the class. Marinette glanced up noting how Adrien seemed to be trying to plead with her to help as he tried to reign in his dramatic new girlfriend and attack dog childhood friend; she only cocked her head to the side, smiled and offered him a little wave before continuing with her work. Yeah no way was she willingly throwing herself into THAT.
Sure enough before class could start Adrien managed to drag Lila out of the room and into the hallway no doubt to give her the same speech he had given Marinette when THEY were dating Lila bursting back into the classroom a few minutes later looking like she’d just swallowed a whole lemon only confirmed Marinette’s suspicions.
What Marinette had not expected was Lila openly complaining about ADRIEN at lunch, hours after the incidents of that morning. Marinette ate her steamed bun as she watched with mild surprise as the Italian wailed and threw a veritable tantrum as she told the girls all about how Adrien had put Chloe first and had asked Lila to simply deal with it. It was so painfully ironic that Marinette struggled not to roll her eyes. Honestly after the breakup Marinette had for a brief time contemplated revenge because truthfully. She was hurt and mad but Tikki had talked her out of it claiming that karma would have its way Marinette hadn’t believed the little god at the time too lost in her grief and her ice cream but now? Well now Marinette was starting to understand what Tikki meant. Because Lila wanted to be Adrien Agreste’s girlfriend no matter what it took, and she was only now starting to see what that really meant.
Sure enough in the weeks that followed Lila and Chloe kept each other busy allowing Marinette to for the first time in years relax at school. Of course Lila tried to redirect Chloe’s hatred back at Marinette by telling the blonde about how it had been Marinette who initiated the break up. But Marinette had easily overcome Chloe’s rage with honesty after all she had only broken up with Adrien because she knew they were incompatible and that Adrien would be happier with someone else, something Chloe agreed with though the way in which the blonde agreed made Marinette’s eye twitch just a little.
And then of course there was Adrien who was still trying to get Marinette to step in and help him handle his childhood friend and girlfriend but Marinette had been able to dodge him for weeks until they were having a class meetup at the park. Chloe was not attending due to wanting to avoid the ‘peasants’ as she so called them and Lila claimed she would be late due to an important meeting with some famous person. Honestly Marinette had not even bothered to pay attention. Adrien had noted the lack of ‘problem people’ and had decided to make a bold move calling Marinette out as they all hung out together to ‘talk to her in private’ yeah like THAT was going to happen.
Marinette knew Adrien’s modus operandi very well. He’d call you out, ask to talk to you privately and then lay on the guilt trip. No way was she doing that anymore she’d endured enough of them while they were dating to last a lifetime.
“Actually I would prefer not to talk to you alone, Adrien. You're publicly dating someone and we never know when your fans or the paparazzi might be around. Besides anything you can say to me in private you can say in front of OUR friends.”
Adrien looked like a kicked puppy at her words. But as their classmates quickly took her side and insisted he tell Marinette whatever he needed with them around the blonde was backed into a corner.
“Well the thing is… I was wondering if you could help? With the whole Lila, Chloe situation?”
Marinette wasn’t even given a chance to respond. The second the words left Adrien’s mouth the entire class bristled, many giving Adrien looks of confusion and shock as if he’d just spoken pure nonsense and honestly in a way he had. Nathaniel however was the one who said it best.
“Wait I’m sorry are you seriously asking Marinette to mediate between her long time bully and the girl you started dating not even an hour after your break up with her? Are you serious?!”
 “W-Well I just thought-”
“Thought what Agreste? That Marinette should put herself in the worlds worst situation completely ignoring her own feelings just to make your life easier?”
Oof Kim going straight for the throat.
 “B-But shes the class president!”
“So?! That doesn’t make her a genie! She can't just clap her hands and fix everything nor should she have to!”
Marinette had never heard Rose sound so upset in her life, which is when the young fashion designer knew it was her turn to say her piece and get things back under control.
“Adrien.” She ignored the hopeful look he shot her. “Not only do I not want to get involved but I don’t think it would help. Chloe doesn’t like me and Lila’s ‘disease’-” she said the word with barely concealed sarcasm “acts up when I’m around. So I’m sorry but no I will not help you with this.”
“But I’m sure if you just-”
The look the class shot him was enough to end the conversation and Marinette let out a relieved sigh as her heart filled with warmth she really loved her friends.
A month after the conversation in the park Lila Rossi got her second harsh wake up call to the ‘true joys’ of being Adrien Agreste’s girlfriend and it was a two for one deal.
Lila had seemingly been under the assumption that once she was dating Adrien her own popularity would rise to meet his but she was starting to learn that wasn’t the case. Adrien still got plenty more photo-shoots then she did and most were still solo and since they were fast approaching the spring fashion season Adrien was plenty busy with more and more shoots while Lila was left waiting for her turn in the spotlight.
Perhaps it was the frustration at not immediately sky rocketing her way up in fame or maybe it was the snide comments from Adrien Fangirls talking about the lack of couples shoots but Lila seemingly came up with the brilliant plan to force the spotlight onto herself by demanding, manipulating and forcing Adrien to take her on big flashy fancy dates where the paparazzi always conveniently found them Marinette had no doubt Lila was the one tipping them off but she kept her mouth shut. It wasn’t her problem.
However while Lila was enjoying her tabloid paparazzi fueled fame the class and more surprisingly Gabriel Agreste himself were beginning to notice the way it was wearing Adrien down. Between his photo-shoots and busy schedule all of Adrien’s precious free time was being filled up by Lila and her many needy antics and it was starting to show in the way Adrien carried himself and how exhausted he seemed.
Nino was the one who led the charge just as he had when Lila manipulated the class into thinking her ‘clingy’ but where Marinette had gotten some hurtful but well meaning lectures about her Adrien obsession which in retrospect DID help her realize her love was unhealthy. Lila was not given such a kind well meaning speech instead Nino got mad, something he rarely let himself become.
As it turns out Lila had worn Adrien down to the point where the blonde was too exhausted to function and he’d nearly passed out while standing and talking to Nino and that mixed with the fact that it had previously been Lila who painted the faux picture of Marinette as the clingy evil girlfriend isolating the boy from his friends was enough for Nino to harshly call her out. The liar did do her best to wriggle out of the situation trying to claim she only wanted ‘some’ private time with her oh so busy boyfriend but Nino was not having it and the class was too happy to back him up.
The more Lila tried to defend and excuse her actions the angrier Nino got and much to the liars annoyance the young musician had proof and plenty of it. Between his text correspondence with Adrien that revealed the model was constantly being forced to cancel relaxing friend days to take Lila out on flashy dates that always ended with paparazzi and fans swarming the location and forcing Adrien into high stress situations, and an extremely detailed schedule planner that Nino had made to keep track of his best buds work life balance (potential evidence to blackmail Gabriel Agreste if he ever threatened to pull Adrien out of school again apparently). The facts didn’t lie and they were showing that Lila was the real ‘clingy’ girlfriend.
Things eventually got so heated between Nino and Lila arguing that an akuma appeared to try and take advantage of the situation. Luckily for everyone Ladybug had been patrolling and stopped the naughty little butterfly from making things worse. In the end Lila was forced to grit her teeth and apologize to her darling boyfriend. Though perhaps what upset her more was the way the class proceeded to apologize to Marinette after the fact for ever accusing her of being clingy and taking up too much of Adrien’s free time.
However Lila still thought she had one last ace up her sleeve, and so after the class luncheon ended the liar proceeded to contact Gabriel hoping to get her new boyfriends dad to reign him in and do her bidding. Unluckily for Lila however Gabriel had been paying attention to the situation and that fact that it had ALMOST led to an akuma made him look even closer into things.
And he was not happy with what he found. The paparazzi pictures and articles that resulted from Lila and Adrien’s flashy dates had started positively enough with headlines and puff pieces about how cute the couple looked together, how it was nice to see the young Agreste in more casual settings with his girlfriend. But as the dates became more and more frequent and Lila’s constant demands and needs grew the articles slowly began to change soon they were discussing the concerning amount of money Adrien must be spending on his girlfriend, how exhausted and stressed the young Agreste heir looked under his strained smiles and was he eating and sleeping enough?
The akuma he’d sent had only further confirmed Gabriel’s negative feelings toward Lila though it did make him re-evaluate the young Lahiffe boy. Gabriel had originally thought the wannabe musician might just be interested in Adrien for money but seeing the lengths he went to defend his friend had the designer impressed and even a little grateful. So when Lila phoned to try and throw the boy under the bus and get Gabriel to side with her, well she had another thing coming.
Marinette heard later from Alya and the rest of the girls that Lila was ‘devastated’ how she’d wailed sobbed and thrown the tantrum of the century as she ranted and raved about Gabriel putting a 1 date a month maximum limit on Adrien and Lila. The two lovebirds could still hang out of course but it would be in the company of the rest of the class or other friends, or if they really wanted some privacy it would be strictly at the Agreste mansion for studying. Lila had told the girls that it was unfair and unjust that Gabriel was trying to get in the way of their love! Alya had relayed to Marinette that while the girls agreed that 1 date a month was a bit rough they all thought Lila’s tantrum was a bit childish especially when they all remembered how Marinette had rarely if ever got to enjoy 1 private date a month with Adrien and never in public.
Of course just because Lila had been told ‘no’ didn’t mean the liar was going to listen. And so she began trying to find ways to manipulate Adrien into ‘accidental’ dates, bugging the blonde to take her out instead of settling for lunch at school or trying to conveniently separate the two of them from the rest of the group during weekend and after school hang outs. But each time Lila tried Nino thwarted her eventually the Italian had gotten so angry at his meddling that she phoned Gabriel again this time to try and get the musician removed or banned or ANYTHING so that he’d back off, so when she instead learned that Nino had been asked by Gabriel to keep an eye out on for his son and that Adrien knew about it well the liar was furious.
Marinette learned later this time from Rose and Juleka that the Italian had tried to go on another tantrum tirade only to be stopped by Alya who would not tolerate anyone badmouthing her lovely boyfriend. Needless to say, Marinette was quick to notice the following Monday how Lila pouted and avoided the Ladyblogger like the plague. Luckily Marinette made sure Alya didn’t dwell on it too much by inviting the girl over to help her brainstorm some new ideas.
Because while Lila was focusing on leeching the fame and fortune off her boyfriend and being met with endless failures and a very hostile guard dog called Chloe. Marinette had been THRIVING. The suit she’d designed for Jagged had gone viral online and soon Jagged was passing on her contact information to a small selection of celebrities Marinette felt comfortable designing for. The fact that her identity was a secret and she had a very exclusive client list had only caused MDC to soar even higher in popularity with the public making it clear that they too wanted access to MDC fashion. And so Marinette had done her research and with the help of Uncle Jagged and Aunt Penny she’d set up an online store where she would sell ready made clothes.
Of course just because Marinette was seeing success didn’t mean she had forgotten about her friends. In fact the entire class minus Lila, Adrien and Chloe knew very well the true identity of the elusive MDC and that was because while Marinette was taking big steps toward her dreams she was helping her friends do just the same.
After all it didn’t take long for the internet to learn that the mysterious MDC designed Kitty Sections outfits causing the band to have a surge of free publicity that led to many people discovering their music and falling in love with the band.
Then there was Nathanial, Marc and Alya who Marinette or should she say MDC collaborated with while designing her ‘hero hoodie’ fashion collection all of them saw a boost in views with Marc and Nathanial’s comic picking up new readers though it was there brand new all original idea that had really flown off the shelves earning them an online cult following. Alya meanwhile got her blog spotted by Lois Lane herself who was impressed with the young future journalist and contacted Alya for a summer internship the scream Alya had made almost gave Marinette a heart attack.
And it didn’t end there. When Nino made a short film with Mylene and Kim of all people as his lead actors and uploaded it for free to YouTube MDC who was well known for supporting smaller creatives and signal boosting them on her social media was more than happy to make a tweet linking to the short film. Nino’s short film had been impactful and powerful despite being a comedy satire on Hawkmoth and it had quickly blown up earning Nino a summer internship at a film studio and Mylene and Kim several job offers. Kim had never been particularly interested in acting but after seeing the outpouring of love and support not to mention with the encouragement he got from his lovely girlfriend Ondine he decided to accept a few offers surprising everyone as he developed a new passion that he and Mylene bonded over.
Max, and Alix were also boosted in a similar way to Nino, Kim and Mylene when MDC retweeted some of their creative endeavors. Alix a video where she had used spray paint to recreate a few classical paintings though that had only acted as a signal boost that allowed the skater to be noticed for her real passion Extreme Sports! When a very exclusive extreme sports training summer camp contacted Alix about her attending she’d squealed almost as loud as Alya had. Max meanwhile had his demo for his work in progress video games retweeted by MDC and saw a huge surge in interest and a few interested investors and publishers even arrived with offers, though before he could agree to anything his popularity ballooned even further when a video of him showing off Markov surfaced. He had later joked to Marinette that while he appreciated the support he wasn’t sure how he felt about suddenly gaining a ‘nerd cult’ as Kim called it.
Of course all of Marinette’s friends knew she was largely responsible for their sudden surge of fame and good fortune and many of them tried to dismiss their own talents and give all the credit to Marinette. But the young designer simply threw it back at them. Yes she had signal boosted them and given them a helping hand but at the end of the day the only reason they had gotten so popular and stayed so popular after the brief burst from her influence passed and the internet moved on to the next big thing was because they were talented and amazing without Marinette.
The only problem with the classes' new found fame. Was that sooner or later Lila was bound to take notice. And take notice she did when Mylene appeared as an extra in one of Lila’s favorite daytime soaps. The liar had been so focused on Adrien and trying to leech her fame off him while beating Chloe back with a stick that she had somehow missed all the major developments. And she was livid.
She was supposed to be the most popular girl in school! She was meant to be the star, the one people admired and aspired to be like! The one they envied but loved too much to truly hate! And when she’d finally gotten Marinette and Adrien to break up she thought for sure that all her dreams would come true. But somehow while she’d been busy trying to reign in the pesky little blonde her classmates had all gone and gotten famous without her. Most of them wouldn’t even BE in Paris in the fast approaching summer since many of them either had internships, specialized camps, acting gigs, or in Kitty Sections case a whole music tour with Jagged Stone that for some reason Marinette was also a part of?!?
None of it made any sense and when Lila had gone looking for how exactly everything had happened she kept finding herself looking at MDC’s social media. The elusive and private designer was apparently a super sucker or something as every week they would highlight some small time random creator. Honestly it disgusted Lila who just handed out fame like that? Fame and popularity was meant to be exclusive! Earned! Something for only the most beautiful and talented of society. Not for chubby little idiots like Mylene or nerdy freaks like Max.
Of course Lila was nothing if not an opportunist. Sure in her opinion none of her talentless, average, classmates actually deserved their new found fame and popularity but the good thing was they were also a bunch of gullible idiots. And if she played her cards right they would surely carry her to the top. She already had the perfect lie, she would simply claim to be best friends with MDC and tell the class that she had been the one to recommend that the designer boost her classmates.
 It was perfect. Genius really.
So then why did it fail immediately?
Lila stood in front of the class, her face frozen in shock as she was stared down by 10 pairs of angry glares. She had expected overwhelming thank you’s and the class bowing at her feet but the second the lie slipped out of her mouth the class instead turned on the liar like a close knit pack of wolves smelling a sheep. Honestly Lila could not understand where she’d gone wrong, and even if she had said something that was an obvious lie wouldn’t the class just normally brush it off as her disease? So why is it that they were acting this way?
It was Alya who broke the silence first.
“You want to run that by us again? Lila.”
The Italian girl swallowed the lump in her throat and ignored the obvious warning sign that was Alya’s sharp tone. Forcing a charming smile Lila brought out her sweetest voice determined that she could salvage whatever THIS was.
“I was just saying that I’m so happy for all of you! I didn’t want to say anything at the time BUT me and MDC are such good friends! So when he-”
“He?” Alix snorted and rolled her eyes. “Yeah that about confirms it.”
The entire class seemed to agree with Alix as they all shook their heads and shot Lila disappointed and annoyed looks before returning to their own conversations and or hobbies freezing her out. Ignoring her.
Oh that? That pissed Lila off like nothing else. Her cheeks grew hot as she stomped her foot angrily, regaining their attention.
“You guys think I’m telling lies again! You all promised that you wouldn’t judge me for my disease but you are!” For added effect she started to sniffle and sob expecting the class to do what they always did and feel guilty about their treatment of her and rush to comfort her.
Instead she was met with even harsher glares.
“Uhh yeah no duh we think you're lying because you ARE. We” Alix gestured to the people currently in class. “Have all met MDC and SHE not ‘he’ is a wonderful person who helped boost our careers because she thinks we're all super cool and talented not because you asked her too.”
Lila felt her face screw up like she’d just sucked a lemon but she quickly worked it to her advantage as she began to loudly sob.
“T-That’s not fair! You know I can't help my disease!”
“Uhh yeah no. I’m stopping you there.” Alya stood up looking down from her perch at Lila with her hands on her hips commanding the room, Lois had been training her well. “We can accept that MAYBE your lying disease makes you claim things when your nervous or scared like how you always accuse Marinette of stuff, and we can MAYBE believe that your disease makes you mix up names and words so you end up giving the wrong information out about charities and celebrities and yes MAYBE we can believe that you sometimes make false claims about yourself when your stressed out like that time with Clara Nightingale stealing your dance moves. Whatever! But Lila that right there? You were not having an ‘oops I lied’ moment you were actively trying to deceive us to make the false claim that YOU are the reason MDC noticed us when we know the truth. And when I gave you a chance to correct yourself you tried to double down. That was intentional. That was malicious.”
Lila felt her mouth fall open, her eyes blinking in shock. Too late she tried to recover. Tried to explain away the situation and make herself out to be innocent. But the class was done with her and they made it clear in how they iced her out. Eventually she had no choice but to suck it up and sit down at her seat. Not long later Marinette rushed into class followed by Chloe who was latched onto Adrien with Sabrina in tow.
Soon enough the school year came to an end and Lila watched bitterly through the all seeing eyes of the internet as her classmates left for their internships, job opportunities, highly specialized summer camps, and more. Meanwhile she was stuck at home. Oh sure she got to go on a few out of country photo-shoots with Adrien but her fame was still nothing compared to her boyfriends, and it was quickly becoming less than nothing as her classmates rose in influence and popularity. Come the new school year Lila would need to find some way to force the class back under her heel.
Marinette was having the best summer of her life! Jagged had taken Kitty Section on tour with him and insisted on Marinette coming with them as their designer. Marinette hadn’t been sure at first worried about the Hawkmoth situation and her own career. But in the end Tikki and her parents had convinced her. Her parents loved the idea of Marinette leaving Paris and going to see the world with her friends for a bit, and Tikki had reminded Marinette that she had the Horse Miraculous and could come home anytime, besides Hawkmoth had been getting lazier and lazier with both his akumas and the amount of them. So in the end Marinette agreed and it had been the BEST decision of her life.
They visited England before eventually traveling overseas to America. The sights and sounds and new foods were filling Marinette with inspiration and she’d never been so busy sketching. Then of course there was the great company. Uncle Jagged and Aunt Penny were wonderful and quickly ‘adopted’ all of Kitty Section + Marinette. They'd act like doting parents one second and then the next they’d be ordering way too much pizza for the teens to share.
Of course everyone missed their friends and family but video call existed and it was only for the summer anyway. Ivan was the one who was probably the worst off pouting over his beloved Mylene but the group was able to cheer him up encouraging him to write a song for his girlfriend, the piece he wrote became a new hit single the second they performed it on stage and Mylene had loved it.
The group stopped by Florida first where Jagged took them all to Disney World and then Universal Park, pictures of the rocker wearing mickey mouse ears and a hufflepuff scarf of all things while being followed by a gaggle of teenagers had soon gone viral, after that it was off to New York, and then Metropolis where they spent a bit of time so Alya could see them and hang out. Her internship with Lois Lane was going well but she’d still been relieved to see her friends and get some down time to just chill. After that they went to Gotham, which was Jagged’s home town. Now most parents might veto a place as dangerous as Gotham but seeing as how Paris was under siege by an emotional butterfly themed terrorist and they were from a class particularly used to dealing with deadly akumas on a regular basis well they were able to convince their parents to let it happen. And to Marinette’s surprise Gotham turned out to be her favorite place of the whole trip.
Sure the city was gloomy but the gothic architecture somehow inspired Marinette, and while the people were not outwardly all smiles and sunshine they were kind in their own way. But the thing Marinette ended up loving most about Gotham was its beautiful parks and famous greenhouses. Thanks to the influence of Poison Ivy and Bruce Wayne the city of Gotham had become the greenest city in all of America and it was a never ending source of inspiration for the young designer. Not to mention it was thanks to all the inspiring greenery that Marinette had met HIM.
She’d been walking through one of Gotham’s older parks admiring the beautiful blooming wisterias that had been shaped into a long hallway arch when she got bowled over by a massive terrifying but very friendly dog. Marinette had been terrified at first until she noticed the fast wagging tail and happy smile on the dog's face. Tikki had warned her that one side effect of holding the Ladybug miraculous would be extra friendly animals a rather ‘tame’ side effect compared to the super strength, increased speed, and occasional urge to hibernate when cold but still the designer had never expected to be attacked with friendly happy dog kisses, not like THIS anyway. As she squirmed and laughed she tried to gently push the dog off. That was when the dogs owner had come to her rescue. Yanking his dog off of her while admonishing it Marinette was finally able to sit up and begin wiping the dog drool off her cheek with a laugh.
“Don’t scold the cutie too much I’m okay I swear he didn’t hurt me.”
“Even if he didn’t hurt you he’s been trained better than that. I’m very sorry, please allow me to help you.”
The boy’s voice was cool, firmly polite and matter of fact leaving no room for argument. To an untrained ear he might even sound annoyed or angry but Marinette could tell that wasn’t the case. As Marinette accepted the hand the boy offered and let herself be pulled up she suddenly came face to face with the most beautiful pair of green eyes she’d ever seen.
Where Adrien’s eyes were bright like a blinding peridot green, these eyes were soft and warm like the green of a pine tree and Marinette could feel herself melt into them. It didn’t help that the rest of the boy's face was also incredibly handsome. The designer quickly shook herself out of her thoughts and glanced away not wanting to stare. Instead she directed her attention to her assailant, the dog was sitting now staring up at her with its tail still wagging wildly. Marinette smiled and reached her hand down letting the dog sniff her before she gave him some soft pets.
“Such a softy for a big guy. What's his name?”
“Titus. And I apologize again. He really is trained better than that. I don’t know what came over him.”
Marinette felt a little bad but she couldn’t exactly say that she was the chosen champion of a god and a side effect of that was very friendly animals so instead she shot the boy a smile.
“Don’t worry I just seem to have that effect on animals. Back home the pigeons and crows have started fighting for dominance of my roof and balcony because they both want my attention.”
The boy gave her a stunned look before he made a sound that Marinette believed might be a covered up laugh. She smiled even brighter and offered the boy her hand to shake.
“By the way my name is Marinette. And it's a pleasure to meet you.”
The boy looked at her hand for a moment before he eventually grabbed it and shook it awkwardly.
“Damian… It's nice to meet you too. Though I can tell by that introduction that you're not from here.”
 Marinette snorted at that.
“Really the introduction was what gave it away but not my accent?”
The boy seemed to blush a little at that before he coughed awkwardly. Marinette took pity on him and giggled.
“You are correct in your deduction mr.detective. I’m visiting from Paris, France with some friends and my uncle.”
If Marinette hadn’t been too embarrassed to look him in the eyes she may have noticed the spark of curiosity when she mentioned Paris. And had she known who Damian truly was at the time she would have known that his curiosity came from the fact that Batman and the other supers had recently learned about the situation in Paris thanks to Lois Lane taking on a new intern who ran the Ladyblog. Mayor Bourgeois had been doing a good job hiding the situation but he’d overlooked the civilian journalist.
“Hm. We don’t get many tourists. What brought you all the way out here. If I may ask.”
Naturally without much thought the pair began to walk through the park together as their conversation flowed. Marinette avoided using Jagged's name not wanting her new very handsome friend to take an interest in her solely for her connections. Instead she told him that Gotham was her uncles hometown and that this was the last stop on what had already been a pretty busy summer vacation. That turned into her telling him a bit about her family in general which got him talking about his family, he complained about his adopted siblings of which there seemed to be many but Marinette could tell he loved them.
Talking about family made him admit he’d come to the park to get away from them for a little while which got Marinette talking about the park and all the beautiful nature in Gotham which got the two of them talking about the best parks in Gotham and then Marinette brought up her sketches and suddenly they were talking about art and other hobbies. Before they had even realized it they were sitting at a bench together hidden away in the trees and wisterias chatting away. Marinette didn’t know why but something about Damian made her feel comfortable. Maybe it was the way he gave her his full undivided attention, maybe it was the way he made sure not to invade her space without consent or how he didn’t interrupt her when she spoke. Either way she felt safe, felt warm, almost like she was home. And judging by the way he seemed to relax the longer they spoke, his stiff body unwinding and his gaze softening, she thought maybe he felt just as comfortable with her as she was with him.
Honestly Marinette could have sat there chatting with Damian all day in fact it had already been several hours when the pair were finally interrupted. Both of their phones began to ring, Marinette’s with the tell-tale alarm of an akuma attack in Paris and Damian’s with an emergency as the Riddler had broken out of Arkham. The teenagers regretfully had to go both citing emergencies before they departed. It wasn’t until later that they realized they had forgotten to exchange phone numbers.
The akuma back in Paris had turned out to be Lila Rossi, it seems that Adrien’s fangirls had never truly warmed up to the liar and they had been trying to dig up dirt on the girl for months before finally finding there evidence. Alya may have privated the videos of Lila’s lies after finding out about the ‘lying disease’ but apparently someone had copied and saved them beforehand. And those videos had finally made their way out into the public. Luckily no one criticized Alya seeing as how she’d already had the common sense to remove the videos from her blog it helped that Alya also made a post explaining the situation in more detail which led to the general public agreeing that it had not been Alya’s fault when she had a teacher and a principle telling her to believe in a fake ‘lying disease’ clearly it was the adults at fault here not the young girl who had believed in them.
Needless to say the public ripped Lila to shreds for being a serial liar with more of her lies coming to light each day now that she had been exposed. And obviously the Italian had not taken it well and gotten akumatized.
Marinette knew that she should be happy that Lila had been exposed. Her classmates certainly were, but instead Marinette could not help but mope. Damian had been SO kind she really had wanted to get to know him better. The fact she’d completely missed out on getting his number gnawed at her. Little did she know that Damian was across the city thinking the same thing as he sat on a Gargoyle statue.
But fate likes to play funny games. A few days later Jagged got a call from Bruce Wayne, a few of his sons namely Tim, Jason and Dick had heard about Jagged being in town and tjat the rocker had brought MDC the famous designer with him. Apparently they were huge fans and had bugged, pleaded, whined, and eventually threatened a hunger strike until Bruce would ask Jagged to pretty please introduce them. So Jagged got the go ahead from Marinette and the gaggle of teenagers plus Jagged and Penny piled into a big van and drove over to the Wayne mansion.
Seeing it from the outside, Marinette felt only intimidation and dread. It was so huge and they were so rich. What if they were unimpressed when they found out MDC was just some teenage girl? Letting Jagged guide her and her friends push her forward Marinette nervously knocked on the door and let herself be led inside by the kind old man who introduced himself as Alfred.
Walking through the halls in wonder Marinette slowly felt her fingers twitch with the urge to design. But she suppressed it and focused not wanting to be rude. As the group turned a corner into a large sitting room Marinette’s blue eyes somehow found a pair of familiar green. She gasped, he blinked wide eyed.
 “Marinette?” - “Damian?”
They blinked again, shocked. Marinette eventually snorted and laughed. Damian found himself smiling as he approached the small girl. And everyone else? Well they were just confused. Except for Damian’s family they were confused and freaked out.
“Is the demon spawn, smiling Dicky bird? Or am I hallucinating?”
“No I see it too Jason. He looks genuinely happy.”
“So it's official.” Tim added “we're all hallucinating.”
After some introductions and explanations things settled down with Marinette happy to take the Wayne’s on as clients. And the Wayne’s in turn being suitably impressed and amazed by the young girls accomplishments though the part they found most amazing was how she interacted with not only them but Damian. She was genuine and kind, no fake smiles or hidden double meanings, nor did she let their money and fame impress or blind her in any way. Jason soon declared her a little sister and Jagged preened and puffed as he gloated about not only Marinette but Kitty Section as well.
The rest of the summer spent in Gotham was tons of fun with Jason teaching Juleka and Marinette how to shoot guns and ride motorcycles, Rose and Marinette learning some of Dick’s gymnastics moves, Ivan meanwhile got along well with the quiet Cass and level headed Duke. Eventually Stephanie and Bab’s returned home as well and they also took to the french teens with ease they organized girl nights where they taught the girls how to break and enter something Marinette had a natural affinity for go figure. The most surprising development however was Luka. The slightly older boy had seemingly set his sights on the awkward coffee addicted Tim and had spent the remainder of the summer wooing him.
But while Luka was wooing Tim there was one other couple slowly forming. Everyone had seen the spark between Damian and Marinette and soon enough everyone was shipping it. The pair were often ‘conveniently’ left alone or were sent on errands that somehow conveniently became accidental dates. Marinette had been guarding her heart after Adrien had shattered it but Damian made her want to take the risk and fall in love. He was charming, polite, kind, sarcastic, and as she’d learned after telling him about the entire Paris situation akuma’s and all he was protective but without going so far as to undermine Marinette’s strength. He trusted her to be fast and smart and strong enough to defend herself (especially after they did a bit of fight training for fun and she laid him flat on the ground) but he did worry and care about her.
But still there was something holding back both teens. Something that shattered near the end of the vacation. Marinette had been caught by a villain. Poison Ivy to be exact. The plant villainess had taken note of the new frequent visitor to her greenhouse but what had really gotten her attention was how the plant life reacted to her. And furthermore how the plant life SPOKE about her. Ivy’s curiosity eventually grew too large and so she snatched up the young designer and brought her home. Luckily Marinette wasn’t particularly scared of Ivy or Harley, sure she didn’t like being knocked out but she felt no real fear, in the end Ivy, Harley and Marinette ended up having an unprompted girls day complete with junk food, ranting, bad American tv and more. Ivy eventually figured that Marinette was some kind of Meta one who had a strong influence over plant and animal life and that was enough for her to adopt the small half Asian girl and inject her with her special blend the same one she’d given to Harley to keep her safe in a town full of crazies.
But while Marinette was perfectly fine hanging out with 2 of the 3 sirens Damian had not taken it so well. He had scoured the city trying to find the sirens newest abode all while he gnawed his lip until it bled. Maybe it was the stress that made him slip up or maybe it was just Marinette being too smart for her own good. But when the young Robin came bursting in through a window yelling Marinette’s name something had immediately clicked and she knew who he was. After she’d calmed the situation down and made sure no one fought anyone else, Marinette thanked Ivy and Harley for the nice day and let Robin carry her away. After talking with Tikki and deciding to be reckless and selfish for once in her life Marinette confronted Damian the next day, revealing her own identity in the process. There was some freaking out and a LOT of talking with Tikki and the rest of the bat clan but in the end it seemed to work out for the best. Ladybug was certainly happy to accept the help anyway even if Chat Noir wasn’t going to be.
A week later Damian finally asked Marinette out. Two days after that they shared their first kiss on the ferris wheel. And come the end of summer Marinette, Kitty Section and surprise guests Damian and Tim Wayne were all boarding a flight back to Paris.

Daminette December 2022: 28-Family
The Parisian class stuck together as they were taken hostage by one of Gotham City's rougues. They patiently waited for Batman and the others to rescue them. Lila had told them, for months, how she personally knew him. That she was a civilian aide for the Bats. The whole city knew who she was, but pretended like they didn't to give her a sense of normalcy. The class cheered as Red Hood and Red Robin swing in to rescue them. Many of them looked around, but they couldn't find Batman.
Bruce Wayne sighed as he walked out of the car to the crime scene. He had a board meeting he couldn't get out of and had sent two of his sons to help. Dick and Damian were stuck as civilians with the rogue. It wasn't until Commissioner Gordon called him that he was able to cancel the board meeting for a later date. He quickly explained that he had to pick up his sons' from an attack and the board could see it was an important matter.
Bruce saw Red Hood and Red Robin were talking to some of the officers. Dick and Damian were walking towards him and thankfully, looked unharmed. Bruce noticed a girl not far from them and sighed. He walked passed his two boys and grabbed her arm. He started pulling her towards the car.
Marinette started to struggle and tried to dig her heels into the ground as a stranger pulled her away from the class.
"Let me go!" Marinette shouted, trying harder to get away.
The class watched helplessly as Marinette was once again in a hostage situation. Many people turned to see what was going on. When they saw what was happening, some of them chuckled and went back to what they had been doing. Marinette noticed the car looming closer.
'I hope this works, Maman!'
Marinette quickly turned and grabbed the back of his suit jacket. She kicked the back of one of his knees and when she felt the man's knees buckle, she quickly used her weight as leverage and tossed him to the ground.
"What the fuck do you think you are doing?" Marinette shouted, standing over him.
Bruce laid very still on the floor, confused. He could see the murky clouds and hear the lights from the sirens. It wasn't hard to notice the red and blue lights rotating in the sky. Dick and Damian rushed over to see what was going on.
"This psycho is trying to kidnap me!" Marinette shouted, pointing at the guy on the ground.
The Wayne brothers looked at her and then each other.
'Not again.'
"B, what were you doing?" Dick questioned.
"Trying to take you sister home." Bruce replied, "How hard did I hit my head? Your sister sounds like she's speaking a different language."
The eldest son laughed. The youngest sighed.
"Miss." Damian began.
Marinette glared at him.
"I apologize for my father." Damian spoke, "He is extremely tired. He's had a long couple of nights this past few weeks and early mornings the next day. The man next to me is one of my adopted siblings; they all have dark hair and blue eyes. He thought you one of his adopted children. He thought you were our sister."
Marinette looked at him in shock.
"I-I have parents!" she cried out, "I don't know him! Is that how he got all his other kids, just took them off the streets?"
Damian smirked, " Sometimes. Although, I doubt they minded when Bruce Wayne asked if he could take them home to live in our manor." as Dick picked up their father and dragged him to the car.
Marinette turned red and stammered, "Br-Bruce Wayne?"
Damian gently grabbed her hand and placed a kiss on it, "Damian Wayne."
Mari wasn't sure if she was turning a new shade of red.
"Oh no! I'm going to get out class sent home" She shouted, "We're the class he sponsored from Paris!"
The Wayne heir chuckled, "I can assure you, you have nothing to worry about. Our father will likely be the one apologizing to you. Too many late nights and too many board meeting make for a disastrous combination. We'll be making sure he is well rested. I'm sure we'll meet again, Miss Dupain-Cheng."
Damian strode over to the car and the Waynes took off.
Marinette collapsed on the ground, as her legs gave way.
"Give her some air!" GCPD shouted, escorting people farther away from her.
Gordon chuckled, "Never thought I'd ever see him that tired."
Marinette looked up to the older officer, "Does that happen often?"
"Him claiming kids?" He asked, "I think he has eleven, now, but only a few of them are adopted. My daughter goes to his place, too. She use to date one of his sons; now they're friends."
"Oh." Marinette whispered.
"But, his kid is right." Officer Gordon commented, "Usually the adopted ones have dark hair and blue eyes."
'Weird.'
"I think it's just because they remind him of himself." the commissioner continued, "As you can tell, Damian gets his skin tone and eyes from his mother. Other then that, Kid is the spitting image of his Father at that age. Weird to see him grown up a second time."
Marinette looked at him curiously, "How long have you known Mr. Wayne?"
Gordon frowned, "Almost his whole life. I was one of the officers who responded to his parents' murder. Happened tight in front of his, as a child."
'He's building his own family.'
"If I see him again, I'll make sure to decline his request." Mari smiled, "As nice as it sounds, I have my own parents in Paris."
Commissioner Gordon offered her his hand and helped her up. He decide it was best that he personally took her back to her class. It might also keep the media vultures at bay.
"I apologize about the confusion." Gordon chuckled, "He's just a tired man, who thought he was takign his daughter home. His sons will sort him out and make sure he sleep. I have no doubt about that."
The moment she reached the class, Adiren hugged her.
"Are you okay?" He shouted.
Alix shoved him away, "Forget that! She flipped him!"
"Yeah!" Nino shouted, "How'd you do that?"
"Maman." Mari answered
Her friends winced.
"Makes sense." They all commented.
Marinette saw that the commissioner looked confused, "My mother taught me."
"Ah." he smiled, "Have a good rest of the night."
Adrien, Kim, Alix, Max, Juleka, Nathaniel, Nino, and Chloe quickly checked over her.
"I'm okay." Marinette smiled.
Chloe's smile quickly turned into a frown, "It's ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous for you to get kidnapped!"
"I'm not the one who wanted to come to the most crime ridden city in the United States." Marinette commented.
Her group of friends glared at Lila and the others.
"That's right!" Kim snarled.
"It's their fault Marinette almost got kidnapped!" Ali screamed, pointing fingers at them.
"We said we should read up on the Rouges." Nino claimed.
"I believe many cities were offered up as alternatives." Max stated.
"Metropolis." Nino called out.
"Los Angeles." Nathaniel pouted.
"Star City!" Adrien whined.
"But no." Chloe rolled her eyes, "Liar Rossi knows Batman."
"He saved us!" Alya retaliated.
"No, Red Hood and Red Robin saved us!" Adrien exclaimed.
"Batman wasn't here to assist us." Max announced, "He did not appear before us and he did not speak to Lila in any way or form. He isn't even here at this scene. Surely he would have spoke to his civilian aide, if she is that well known by the city."
"Neither was Nightwing or Robin." huffed Nino.
"Or Black Bat." Juleka declared.
"Or Signal." pouted Kim.
"Or BatGirl!" declared Alix.
The rest of the class shifted uncomfortably as the other group made sense, yet again. It was only by one vote that they had decide upon Gotham and now they were coming to regret it.
Bruce Wayne blinked his eyes open and looked around the room.
'I'm home. I don't remember coming hime. How did I get here? Maybe Alfred or the boys know.'
Bruce got dressed for the day and descended to the dining hall for breakfast.
"Sir, I am going to tell you that you are banned from accessing the batcave and patrol for the next week." Alfred announced, "You require a large amount of rest."
'Am I sick? I don't feel sick.'
Bruce looked around the table to see his eldest boys snickering. Damian on the other hand was glaring at him.
'So not sick.'
"What-" he began to ask.
Damian slammed his phone down in front of his father and pressed play. Bruce watched as he grabbed a young girl's arm and attempted to drag her with him. They appeared to be at a crime scene. When they got close to the car, she grabbed his arm and flipped him onto his back.
'Well, that explains why my head hurts. Not a concussion, but close enough. Also explains why it looks like Damian is about to grab one of his katanas.'
"I don't remember this." Bruce stated.
"You were too tired." Tim chuckled, "You always go on and on about how I need to sleep. Looks like your sleep demon finally caught up with you."
"You claimed you were taking 'our sister' home." Dick smiled, "You claimed you must have hit your head because she wasn't speaking English."
Bruce groaned.
Damian grabbed his phone and sneered, "I had to explain you were nothing more than a sleep deprived buffoon and who you were. She's a foreigner; she's part of the class trip that you sponsored!"
Alfred set down a cup of coffee, a thermos, and some asprin in front of Bruce.
"Do becareful not to adopt anymore children today, Sir." Alfred stated, leaving the room.
As Bruce left the room, Jason called out, "So how are we placing the bet? Two hours until we have a new sister?"
'It's gonna be a long day.'
Bruce gulped as he noticed the class in the lobby of Wayne Enterprise. He took a breath and walked towards them. He could tell some people recognized him from the other night, by their warily glances.
Bruce cleared his throat, "Um, I'm told I tried to take someone home with me?"
Marinette peeked though and smiled. She moved through the class and held a box out in front of her.
"These are for you." She smiled, "Damian and Mr. Gordon explained how hard you work, Mr. Wayne."
The class froze and Lila backed up a bit.
"I often work too hard and the days blur together so I know what that's like." Marinette continued, "These are caramel and pretzel cookies. Damian said they were your favorite, after asking Alfred."
Bruce remained speechless.
"I'm sorry." Marinette frowned, "I do have to turn down your offer. I love my parents and they are in Paris. I'll be returning to them once the trip is over."
Bruce nodded, "Of course. I apologize again Miss Dupain-Cheng. Is there any way to make up this misunderstanding?"
"Just....accept the cookies?" Marinette replied, holding out the box again.
He smiled and took the box, "I hope the rest of your trip is enjoyable."
After Bruce walked away, her friends surrounded her.
"They guy who tried to kidnap you was Bruce Wayne?" Chloe shouted, "Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous!"
Marinette blushed, "Yeah. His son told me he was sleep deprived and the office said his adopted kids had dark hair and blue eyes. I just sorta fit in."
"Yes, it is quite the coincidence, but 100% accurate. The three boys he adopted were all of different nationalities, but the common look they all had was dark hair and blue eyes. His biological son resembles him tremendously, but has green eyes." Max declared.
"My parents probably would have packed my bags and handed me over." Nino chuckled.
Adrien laughed, "So would Father."
"You sure you don't want to change your mind?" Alix asked, "You could run after him."
Mari laughed, "No. I'm good."
Bruce smiled as the elevator dinged, to take him to his office floor.
Bruce took the box to this office and set it on his desk. He opened the box and saw an envelope placed on top of the sweets. He took out the envelope and a cookie. He placed the cookie in his mouth and smiled at the taste.
Hello, Mr. Wayne.
I'm sorry about the trouble for yesterday. I thought you should know that you should look into a student in the class named Layla Rossi. She prefers to go by Lila. She has been claiming to have connections to you and your family, that she knows Batman's identity, and various other claims.
I've already spoken to her and I've tried to get her to see the error of her ways, but she doesn't care. She claims to only be telling people what they want to hear. I'm sure you don't wish to hear about some random girl growing up with you. There should be a USB in the envelope; inside details all the lies and a list of what Lila has done. It will also tell you where to find proof and who you should contact.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng
Bruce inserted the USB into his laptop and brought everything up.
'She was right. It's very detailed. It was as if Tim had found everything for her.'
Bruce thought back to the smile she had given him as she turned down his gratitude.
'Smart and hides behind a smile. Much like how he portrays himself in front of the board and media.'
Bruce quickly picked pup his phone and dialed Damian.
"What?" Damian questioned.
"You are your mother's only child, right?" Bruce asked.
"Yes, why?" Damian asked, concerned, "What has Mother done this time?"
"Nothing." his father answered before hanging up.
'Well, Damian has no knowledge of her. Was this to convince me not to adopt her? If so, it wasn't working. Does she know I'm Batman?'
Bruce brought up the background check on her. Her parents were both alive and well. Her father was French-Italian and her mother was Chinese. Neither of them had contact with Talia or the League.
'Not adoptable, but she would be a good addition to the family or Wayne Enterprise. Damian talked to her the other day. He was even defensive of her at breakfast.'
Bruce picked up the phone and redialed his son.
"What now?" demanded Damian.
"Ask out Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" his father shouted.
Damian remained silent for over a minute, "Father."
"Win her over!" Bruce commanded.
The Wayne heir sighed, "You can't adopt her so you wish for me to persuade her through marriage."
"Yes." Bruce smiled.
Damian hung up the call. Bruce knew it was a long shot, but all his other kids were too old for Ms. Dupain-Cheng. When he got word that the class was leaving, he rushed downstairs to apologize once more. Imagine his surprise when he found Damian, dressed in a suit, speaking to Marinette and kissing her hand. She was even smiling at his son! Bruce watched as Damian led her away and out of the building.
'Damian listened to me!'
He was so letting Damian get another pet!
Marinette sat across from Damian at a small café, nearby.
"I had an interesting conversation with Father during lunch." Damian spoke.
"Oh?" she probed.
Damian smirked, "My father suggested I ask you out on a date because it was illegal to adopt you."
Marinette laughed, "When do you plan on introducing me as your girlfriend? We've been together for two years."
"I'll let him think it was his idea, for now." the Wayne heir answered, making his girlfriend giggle.
"I do wonder what you did to my father." he spoke up.
"Huh?" Marinette asked.
"He questioned if I had a sibling." Damian replied.
Mari smiled, "Oh, I gave him all of my data on the liar and fed him a type of cookie with Dupain-Cheng flair that you told me he liked.
"Smart. Can cook. Wayne looks." Damian began to list off, "We best be careful, Habibiti. I fear Father will push for a proposal, after four months, if I don't scare you away."
"Oh no." Marinette sarcastically declared, "What ever shall we do?"
"Do you think Alfred or Father would faint first, if I introduced you as my fiancée instead of my girlfriend?" Damian questioned.
"Neither." Marinette spoke, "After everything you've told me about them. I'm guessing Todd."
Damian chuckled.

Crack Prompt: Marc and Nathaniel are busy coming up with a special arc for their superhero comics and wonder about their classmates who have been akumatized except for two which are Adrien and Marinette.
It eventually leads to a discussion of the first arc with an akumatized Adrien fighting against Ladybug and Chat Noir. The second arc was a bit more tricky because the duo knew just how much Marinette has the skills to be the most devastating akumatized villain ever so they had to include the rest of the class except Marinette to flesh out the details.
It all spirals into oblivion like Alya coming over with a conspiracy board of just how much damage an akuma Marinette can do and also doubles as a meeting to come up with ways to make sure Marinette never gets akumatized.

Can I get your take on Bustier leaving all the arrangements for whatever feildtrip up to Marinette. But wait your thinking this has been done to death. But as a minor she cannot book hotels or buses and other feildtrip things. Most hotels will not book to those under 21. Is the class upset with Marinette or Bustier? Do they still have all the money they collected or has it gone missing
Marinette wasn’t sure what to do. The class trip was in a few weeks and she had nothing figured out. Well, that isn’t entirely true, she knew what they wanted to do. She had picked out the hotel, the tours they wanted to do, the restaurants they wanted to eat at, everything. But she had run into a major problem.
She had brought all her plans to Mrs Bustier for final approval and for her to make the final arrangements. All the teacher had to do was make the phone calls. Very simple. But she wouldn’t do it.
She kept saying that was Marinette’s job as class rep, not her’s. “I’m sure you can handle it. I’m too busy and it’s just a few phone calls and you can always figure things out. I expect you to have everything finalized by Monday since we leave Friday.” Before Marinette could protest, Mrs Bustier walked out the door.
Marinette went home, feeling extremely overwhelmed, but sure that she could figure this out quickly. It was just a couple phone calls right? It shouldn’t be that difficult to arrange everything for the trip. She had all the details she needed, she could get this done, right?
Wrong. Marinette had started this endeavor thinking it would be easy, but quickly learned it would be anything but. Every place she called wouldn’t let her make the reservations. She was too young to book the hotel, as they required the person making the reservation be 21. She couldn’t book the tours as Mrs. Bustier hadn’t given her any of the money the class raised and all the tours required deposits or for you to pay for the tour completely right there. Marinette realized, with dawning horror, that she wouldn’t be able to finalize anything herself, and by Monday it may be too late.
Marinette was exhausted as she got to school that Monday. She had spent all weekend trying to figure out what to do. Her parents were furious at Bustier and had tried making the reservations themselves, for the hotel at least, but since they wouldn’t be present on the trip, they weren’t able to either. Marinette had tried reaching out to Mrs. Bustier a number of times over the weekend about the issues, but received no response.
Now she was about to go into class and have nothing to show them for the trip. This was not going to end well. When Mrs. Bustier asked about the trip arrangements, Marinette had to reveal that nothing was set up yet. The class, at first, was angry with Marinette, thinking she had simply forgotten to do it while she worked on something else.
But when Mrs. Bustier started lecturing her, Marinette snapped. She yelled at her, saying that she had tried contacting Mrs. Bustier multiple times over the weekend to no avail. “Why did you think I could do this? I couldn’t make any reservations cause I’m not old enough or didn’t have access to the money we raised! How is that my fault?!”
Mrs Bustier spoke in an extremely condescending tone as the class began to realize that Mrs. Bustier is the reason for all of this. “Now Marinette you shouldn’t yell at me. And I saw your emails, but didn’t think it was urgent so I didn’t read them. I was sure you had everything in hand and were just sending updates. I was busy this weekend anyway, and couldn’t have made the arrangements myself. You should have found a way to work this out on your own. I’m so disappointed in you Marinette, and I’m sure the class is too.”
Mrs. Bustier looked at the class, expecting them to agree with her, but instead all she saw was them glaring at her. Then they all stood up and marched to Mr. Damocles office to complain. Mrs Bustier tried to stop them, but to no avail.
Needless to say, things didn’t end well for Mrs. Bustier. She was suspended, pending an investigation. They wanted to investigate what other job responsibilities she had been pushing off to others before they made any final decisions. The class had to push their trip back a few weeks unfortunately, but they were able to find a new chaperone who made all the final arrangements based on Marinette’s plans and the class got to do everything they had wanted. There were some bumps along the way, but they got the trip they wanted, even without Mrs. Bustier.

Class sugar and Lila salt prompt! One of the classmates becomes their inner wereanimal (painful transformation, non-feral mindset). Lila sees it and lies to everyone that the monster (the transformed classmate) is a danger and must be put down. But the class would rather try to save the person instead (much to Lila’s frustration). Obviously, the classmate is cured and Lila is exposed.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I don't hate any MLB characters, salt drama is just funny, and I want to get my writing enthusiasm back. Don't like, don't read. And any hate comments that are not constructive criticism will be laughed at and then ignored so don't waste your own time.
Thank you for the prompt(s). I'm pretty sure they are from the same person, because they came pretty close together, so I combined these two. If not, well, sorry. This is not my best work, and was kind of rushed, sorry.

Title: 'Were' the Lies were Exposed
Nobody was quite sure what had happened. One moment they were walking down the street as a class, intent on going to the park to surprise Marinette with a party for her latest third place victory in a local fashion contest(against much older and more experienced designers mind you), but also as a ‘Thank You’ for all the hard work she did daily for their class, the next Marinette was shoving Juleka out of the way, getting an akuma absorbed into the pen she had tucked into her ear.
The akuma’s energy bubbled and oozed while Marinette fought, trying desperately to fight the akuma’s hold, but Hawkmoth must have done something to it because she just couldn’t shake its effects completely. The one thing she was thankful for was that she seemed to be keeping her head, and was very much in control of her thoughts and actions. Her bones started popping, and an animalistic whine escaped her throat, her limbs twisting to accommodate the akumatized form while soft fur sprouted across her body. Marinette choked on painful whines as the transformation finally stopped.
The class gaped at their class president’s new form. She was much taller now, matching Ivan’s height, her legs bent like that of an animal’s haunches, with sharp clawed feet and hands. Her face and head were animalistic tiger-like, like the third or fourth picture of an Animorph book cover. Fur took up where had once been skin, but not the usual orange or white fur on a natural tiger, her fur was ladybug red, and the stripes that cascaded down her body we a blue hued black, with dashes of white around her muzzle, chest, and chin. Most noticeable was the now bushy red and blue-black striped tail that sprouted from her tail bone, and her human ears that were larger and rounded, with noticeable white spots on the back.
Marinette opened her mouth to speak, but all that came out was a gargled half growl sound that caused her friends to jump in fright, with her softer classmates taking a few steps away. Hurt flared in Marinette’s chest before she remembered the predicament she was in. Her head bowed, ears twitching like they wanted to fold back while her tail drooped.
“M-Marinette?” Juleka stuttered, trying to gauge if her akumatized friend, and savior, was a threat or not. Whiskered twitching, Marinette turned towards her, blinking slit pupiled yellow eyes at her.
“Girl you in there?” Alya asked, stepping towards her friend and grabbing her claw-hand. In place of a purr, Marinette let out an odd cuff sound, her tail twitching happily. Alya grinned at her. “No way! Hawkmoth transformed you but don’t seem to be under his control at all! I knew my best friend was badass but dang!” She reached up to pet her friend's new furry head, getting a pleased cuff sound in return.
That seemed to break the tension as the class then relaxed, Juleka was quick to hug Marinette, stammering ‘thank you’s and ‘I’m sorry’s. Alix and Nathan were taking selfies with their akumatized friend, her cuffing fondly at them and played along. Mylene was tentatively running her hand over her tail, amazed by the softness, while her boyfriend and Kim were comparing her new height, Kim in particular wanted an arm wrestle seeing as Marinette seemed to get some extra muscle. Nino was quickly writing a new script while Adrien’s back acted as his table, the DJ/Movie Director hopeful getting a flash of inspiration and Adrien not minding since no one was in immediate danger.
“Are you crazy!” Lila simpered, drawing the class attention to herself. “Marinette just turned into a beast! We need to call Animal control!”
“Girl, it's fine.” Alya sighed. “We just have to find Ladybug or Chat Noir so they can dispel the Akuma.”
“How are you so sure she's an akuma?” Lila balled her hands into fists. “Ladybug told me that there was no way a person could shake off an akuma, much less transform but not be under Hawkmoth’s control! As her /best friend/ she tells me everything!”
“We saw the akuma, Lila.” Juleka said softly, glaring at the italian, whom she blamed for the situation. She was the one who upset Juleka in the first place, if Lila hadn't said that Marinette would have won if she had a professional model(ie not Juleka like she had) then the shy model to-be wouldn't have gotten upset enough to summon an Akuma.
“Well she maybe just hasn’t met someone strong enough to do it then.” Adrien chimed in. “I mean, Ladybug is human, she doesn’t know everything about everything, and its wrong to assume she does.”
“Or Marinette just isn’t human.” Lila huffed in frustration.
Alix laughed. “You can’t honestly believe Marinette has been an actual weretiger this whole time and exposed herself to fight an akuma.”
Lila glared at the girl. “Its possible!” She screeched. “Which is why we have to call animal control to come put her down or something!”
“That isn’t funny Lila.” Mylene chided.
“I’m not joking! She’s a danger to all of us!” Lila huffed and grabbed her phone, but Nathan swiped it from her hands before she could dial a single number. “Give me my phone back!”
“No.” Nathan shook his head, handing the phone to Alix to keep safe.
“Sorry to interrupt.” A tiny voice squeaked, drawing everyone’s attention upwards, where a small floating bug kwami floated. “Ladybug is in a every important exam, and since this young lady isn’t a danger she send me out to dispose of the akuma. So if one of you could break that pen.”
“On it!” Kim said, recovering the fastest from seeing Ladybug’s kwami. He snatched the pen from Marinette’s ear and snapped over his knee, wincing at the sharp glare he got from the tiger turned girl. “I will buy you a new one.” He promised.
As Marinette turned back, the transformation just as painful as before, Alya and Juleka pressed against her in comfort, the rest of the class watched at the kwami gulped up the akuma, spitting out a purified one that fluttered away with ease.
“This had been bothering me for a while,” Alix chimed, grabbing the kwami’s attention before she could fly back to Ladybug. “Is Ladybug friends with any civilians.” The pink haired girl glanced at Lila, who stopped stewing in her anger long enough to panic.
A very serious face befell the kwami. “No. Understand that Ladybug befriending a civilian, even privately, is extremely dangerous. It puts them, and herself in grave danger. Even in her private life shes extremely careful with who she befriends. If you know someone saying they are friends with her, please stop them. It’s a lie and it can cause them great harm.” She advised before flying away.
“I wonder what else Lila has been lying about.” Adrien prodded, and the class turned to the Italian, but she had booked it down the street during the kwami’s speech and was nowhere to be seen.
Alya sighed. “We’ll deel her her later. Right now lets go to the party we set up for my best friend!” She smiled at Marinette, who smiled back with a small wince.
“Can we get an Ice pack on the way?” She asked carefully. “Everything hurts.” She admitted, pulling a few laughs from her friends. “I am not kidding.”

Will forever be an avid defender of Alya and Nino, fuck yall.
Felix can be a dick to everyone and give up all the miraculous for whatever reason and will NEVER receive the type of salt Alya and Nino do which is despicable in itself.
Chloe has bullied Marinette since day one and yet yall have her replace Alya ?? (i love Chloe but she and Marinette will never be friends, Marinette does not have to be Chloes friend for her to be redeemed!!!)
Stop treating the only main relevant brown characters like shit then act like the white ones can do no wrong yall aint slick!
Blame the shitty ass writing cuz literally everytime Lilas on screen EVERY CHARACTER makes ridiculous decisions!!

Marvelous Miracles (Please Disregard the Ghosts)
Pt. 1.
Next
× Not specials or seasons 4-5 compliant on the MLB side.
× Lots of lore littered throughout.
× Adrien and Marinette were 13 and 12 when Hawkmoth started and it has now been three years. Fu passing on guardianship happened their first year and the akumas got more violent as time wore on.
× Platonic Lovesquare
Ladybug paced the roof she stood on anxiously. She rung her hands. When she finally stopped pacing, she started to rock back and forth on the balls of her feet, a habit the came from a friend of hers. Ladybug groaned; she couldn't believe this was happening because of a rumor.
°•°•°•°•°•°•Earlier that week°•°•°•°•°•°•
It had been a dull morning in Paris. The night before had been interupted by yet another nightmare akuma. Madame Bustier's class was no exception to the exhaustion that plauged the City of Lights. Her students were running on caffeine from various sources and a mountain of spite directed towards a certain butterfly-themed supervillain. The teens barely spoke as they all filed into the dim classroom. Even Chloe Bourgeois sat silent, which was something most had thought impossible.
One girl entered the classroom without a care in the world. She looked around the room with olive-green eyes that were equal parts sly and greedy. The girl's presence demanded attention, whether it was the good or bad kind, most didn't know. Oh, and one of the most important things about her? She lies like most people breathe. This girl's name is Lila Rossi
"G-guys! I just heard that Marinette is Mayura!" Lila cried out. People all around the room wearily rose their heads to look at the girl. Silence filled the room. You could hear a pin drop. Just as Lila started to think she'd gone too far, a sharp laugh rang through the room. That laugh broke the dam and suddenly most of the class was laughing their heads off.
After some time, a short girl with pink hair cleared her throat and tried to contain the wild grin that spread across her face.
"Nice one Lila! Pfft- Marinette is Mayura," Alix said with a chuckle. A new wave of laughs filled the room at that.
"Y'know, the only times Nett has come close to looking like a supervillain was to protect her friends. Li-like-" Nino wheezed. "Like the Halloween Incident."
Most of the class didn't know what that meant, but Kim started to giggle like a maniac. Chloe paled and shook her head. Juleka mumbled something and those around her turned to look at her. With no small amount of shyness, Juleka cleared her throat and spoke up
"I think she was scarier during the Fork Fiasco."
Kim was practically on the floor with laughter at this point and Nino nodded at Juleka's assessment. Lila sat there dumbfounded as the class swapped stories about Marinette losing her temper on their behalf. It was Rose who brought up the the rumor Lila claimed to hear.
"Marinette would only help a villain if they threatened to hurt her loved ones otherwise! She's scary when she's angry, but it comes from a place of concern and love!"
The class hummed their agreements and Lila watched in confusion as nobody voiced any doubt.
"Umm...Guys? I don't think everybody is as sure of Marinette's innocence as we are," Alya said. She stared intently at her phone. Everyone stopped and turned to Alya. "There is an entire article dedicated to this rumor!"
"What!?" Someone shouted. Several of the teens vaulted over their desks to see the article. They made noises of outrage as they read. Lila stared at the group as they started to argue about whether to tell Marinette.
"Marinette should know about this, she'll want to do damage control," Max suggested as he adjusted his glasses.
"We can't tell Marinette about this! She's already so stressed!" Nathaniel argued.
"Tell me what?" Everyone turned towards the doorway. Marinette's eyebrows were furrowed and she eyed Lila with suspicion. Adrien stood beside Marinette and looked around the room hesitantly.
"Well-" Alya began before being cut off by Mylene.
"There's a rumor going around that you're Mayura, and there's an article dedicated to proving it!"
"W-what!?" Marinette rushed towards the group in horror. Adrien right behind her. Marinette grabbed the phone from her friend's hand.
The class had devolved into arguments. Lila was dragged into it at some point, but wasn't doing much. Juleka discussed the ethics of lighting the article author on fire with Marc, who had snuck in to bring Nathaniel a comic script. Rose advocated for talking to the writer instead. Adrien tried his hardest to get everyone to calm down, which didn't work all that well.
It had all gone down hill from there. Marinette had been brought home by a local officer before the rumor became worse. Her parents had to shut down the bakery for the rest of the day. The plan was to release an official statement that stated that there was no proof for the claim, but the universe has always loved messing with Marinette. She couldn't leave the bakery without being harassed by the news or people who demanded she be arrested. Her number and social media blew up with threats. Akumas and akuma victims had both come after her multiple times.
Everyone she knew suggested she leave Paris.
Jagged suggested an old friend to take her in. Seeing no other option, her parents caved.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•The Present°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
Ladybug was brought out of her head by the sound of two people joining her on the roof. She looked up to see Chat Noir and Wonder Woman. She straightened and let her Ladybug persona wash over her fully.
"Ladybug, it is unlike you to summon us so short notice," Wonder Woman started, "what is it that you need?"
"I'm being forced out of Paris." Chat Noir dropped his baton as his hands went slack. Wonder Woman was unreadable, but the unease on Chat Noir's face was as clear as day.
"B-but how will you fight akuma victims? Or purify the akumas?"
"Then it is a good thing Fu gave you the miracle box." Wonder Woman declared, which cut off Ladybug's reply. Both miraculous holders stared at her as if she'd grown a second head. She had been quite vocal about her displeasure with Fu for leaving the miracle box to a child, and her frustration with herself for letting her childhood admiration for the guardians slip into blind trust. She smiled at her young apprentices. "You can use the horse miraculous to teleport over during akumas."
The tension in Ladybug eased as she smacked her face in exasperation.
"Of course! Why didn't I think of that?" She grumbled. Chat Noir looked less panicked now, but there was still a small issue. "But what am I supposed to do if I can't get away to transform? I'm a terrible liar."
"Then don't lie, just stay you watch Paris news to know what's going on with your friends and that your worried about them." Chat Noir suggested. Ladybug weighed the excuse in her head before she nodded.
"Good thinking, little warrior!" Wonder Woman cheered. Both women chattered on and ignored how he was turning as red as Ladybug's suit. Their teasing stopped abruptly as Ladybug noticed that he had zoned out.
"Kitty?" Chat Noir's tail twitched slightly.
"Will you teleport over for patrols and training?" Ladybug grunted in offense.
"Try keeping me away!" Wonder Woman smiled at the young heroes. Nobody in the trio bothered to point out that patrol was more of an excuse to hangout.
"Have you already told your other teacher?" Wonder Woman asked. At Ladybug's nod, she let out a satisfied hum. "Are you still sure that you don't want us to train you at the same time?"
The two teens smirked. Wonder Woman had been making feeble attempts to figure out who the other hero training the duo was for months now. Wonder Woman wasn't worried, she knew the duo was careful, but she wanted to make sure their mystery mentor wasn't being too harsh and maybe she wanted to gush about her babies to someone who knew of their existence.
"Not a chance." Chat Noir said gleefully. Wonder Woman sighed in disappointment. She smiled as the two laughed. They talked on their secluded roof for a long while.
Three days later, Marinette Dupain-Cheng stepped on a plane heading to Gotham city with one last wave to the city she grew up in.

Representative Duties
Slight Lila salt. AU.
Marinette took her duties as class president very seriously. So when Lila starts making all kinds of claims about her health conditions, she has to set aside her own jealousy and irritation to do her job, whether the girl liked it or not.
Notes:
This oneshot contains medical conditions that the characters may or may not have.
Marinette heaved an irritated sigh as she collapsed onto her chaise lounge, groaning loudly.
Tikki flittered around her, chewing on her bottom lip in worry for her Chosen. “Marinette?”
“Hmm?” The girl grumbled.
“Are you... are you okay? Do you want to talk about it?”
“What else is there to talk about?” Her voice was slightly muffled by the furniture, but the frustration bleeding into her tone was no less missed even as she pushed herself up onto her elbows, resting her forehead on the backrest. Her eyelids were clenched shut as she added, “I’m just going to keep making myself angrier and angrier. I don’t want to be angry anymore.”
Tikki said nothing in reply, merely coming down to rest atop her shoulder. She nuzzled her head into the girl’s cheek affectionately.
The two lay there in silence for several long moments.
“I just... don’t understand,” the teenager quietly murmured. “I don’t understand how anyone could just... fall for a bunch of lies.”
The little god hummed to herself. “Humans are complicated, Marinette. After thousands of years I still don’t understand everything about them, myself.”
“I mean, come on! She’s contradicted herself so many times already!” She turned to grimace at Tikki. “Does nobody else see what I do?”
Tikki patiently smiled. “The Miraculous changes people, Marinette - for better or for worse. You being Ladybug has opened your eyes to more than what’s on the surface.”
The girl closed her eyes again as she nuzzled her cheek. “Your soul is greater than most. The Ladybug Miraculous is drawn to those pure of heart and innocent of intention - in order to create, you must willingly devote yourself. Not very many people would want the responsibility.” She paused, trailing a paw along the girl’s cheekbone. “I don’t blame them.”
Responsibility.
Marinette’s eyes opened, then narrowed. She sat up, making the little god make a noise of surprise - and as the Kwami lifted into the air once more, she inquired, “Tikki... would you call me crazy if I said I had an idea?”
The red god beamed at her Chosen.

It had taken a long night of work - several texts back and forth to her classmates, an email to Dupont staff - but when the next morning arrived, Marinette felt exhausted, yet satisfied.
“Hey, girl!” Alya greeted cheerfully, bumping shoulders good-naturedly as they walked up the front steps. “What’s the occasion?”
“What occasion?”
“Well, you aren’t fashionably late for once.” The redhead pointed out. Then she winked. “Is it about Adrien?”
Marinette chuckled, shaking her head slowly. “No, no... I just realized something important. Is Lila going to be in today?”
“Yeah, she should be.”
“Great.” With a comforting nudge at her hip from Tikki, she raised her head high. “Because I have an apology to make.”

At the first bell, nearly everyone was in the classroom. Alya squeezed her shoulder warmly before heading to her seat, leaning on Nino for a moment before getting out her things.
True to form, not long afterward Lila strolled in with a peaceful expression. It dimmed a bit when she noticed Marinette standing near the front, but at the radiant grin the girl gave her in greeting, she gave a wary smile back.
“Seats, everyone!” Bustier called, and when the second bell rang she stood from her desk with a smile as she clapped her hands. “Good morning, students.”
“Good morning, Miss Bustier,” the class responded in varying tones of boredom or cheerfulness.
“Marinette has informed me ahead of time that she has something to say to you all before class starts.” She gestured to the representative encouragingly. “Marinette?”
The noirette nodded before turning to everyone. Lila was looking her way with a scrutinizing stare, but Alya and Adrien gave her smiles.
“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry for my behavior yesterday,” she began. “I admit that I was not in the best headspace and I shouldn’t have let my emotions dictate my actions. Lila,” she turned to the Italian, “I shouldn’t have let myself treat you unfairly. I understand that having medical conditions is incredibly hard and I want to let you know that everyone here is supportive of you and is willing to help you however they can.”
At this, Lila’s smile twitched, and she could see a puzzled, calculating look in her eye.
“Will you forgive me?” She implored, clasping her hands together.
Hook.
The rest of the class had softened towards her, and everyone turned to the transfer student with eager anticipation.
The girl opened her mouth.
Marinette tried to contain her grin.
Line.
“Of course, Marinette,” she gushed, and a syrupy-sweet expression filled her face. “I know you can be... protective of your friends. I wasn’t trying to make things harder for you in any way. I accept your apology, and I hope we can be good friends from now on!”
“I hope so too,” she found herself saying back as she plastered an identical smile on her face. “Starting now, I’ll be taking my duties as class rep more seriously. That’s why I’ve compiled a full list of your ailments to make things easier. You don’t have to worry about getting sicker from now on.”
Sinker.
Lila’s smile wavered, and she could see her lip twitch. “Oh, you didn’t have to--”
“But I wanted to,” she implored, using her best innocent ‘I want what’s best for you’ voice. “I have detailed records of everyone’s allergies and medical conditions so that, say, if we go on a class picnic, we can include them.”
“Yeah,” Kim spoke up. “I’m lactose intolerant, and Mari always makes sure we have dairy-free options on outings.”
“Not like that stops you,” Alix snarked.
“It’s the thought that counts!” The jock huffed a laugh. “Besides, my gut doesn’t suffer. Too much. Don’t use the restrooms after me during lunch period.”
“Don’t be gross, Kim,” someone else muttered.
“And I have a gluten allergy,” Nathaniel quietly added. “Marinette always makes sure to include gluten-free pastries for me.”
“Chloe is on a diet,” Sabrina chimed in nervously. “So we always make sure to have options that she can eat.”
“Speaking of, Adrien’s on a diet too, right?” Alya lightly poked the model.
“Yeah,” he nodded, then he smiled up at Marinette. “Those new croissants were delicious.”
“Oh,” she squeaked, face turning red. “Th- thanks!”
“My bestie would never leave someone out on purpose,” Alya continued, winking at Lila. “We’ll all do our part to make sure you’re included, too!”
“If anything new crops up that I wasn’t aware of, please make sure to let me know,” the noirette finished. “I’ll make a note of it and add it to the file.”
“Thank you for stepping up, Marinette,” Bustier complimented, resting a hand on her student’s back. “You are a shining example for the rest of the class.”
She just beamed. For once, the title didn’t hurt as much. It was only made sweeter by the covert scowl Lila sent her once everyone broke into their own chattering groups.

The rest of the week went by much smoother than she thought it would. It was almost like a dream compared to the disastrous first day she had.
Lila got all the attention she wanted - even if not all of it was to her liking. Bustier’s students would speak up for her in every class she had, warning the teacher of this condition or that ailment - and as puzzled as the teachers would be, they reluctantly made a note of it for the future. With every class, Lila looked more and more tense when nobody else was looking... and it filled Marinette with a sick sense of pride that she quickly dismissed, feeling guilty over her happiness in seeing the girl so angry.
At lunch, one of her new friends would go through the line with her, informing the cafeteria staff of her allergies. As confused as they were (they hadn’t gotten proper warnings from the other staff, not until the health file was updated), they graciously tried to make their way around her intolerances. Every day Lila found herself with a plain salad with no dressing, chicken, and a small cup of fruit.
At PE, Kim and Alix personally informed Mr. d’Argencourt of Lila’s injuries, and so she was sent to the library to study with Mylene, who had hurt her knee.
Lila got the attention she wanted. And Marinette didn’t even have to lift another finger.
Thanks to her announcement on Tuesday, she’d managed to rope Ms. Bustier into compiling an official document to send to the nurse on Lila’s behalf during lunch period. Mysteriously, there was nothing of note in her file other than a clean bill of health.
The nurse was nothing if not thorough, and as soon as she was handed in the updated health file her brow furrowed in confusion. She resolved to get to the bottom of the issue, realizing how many conditions Lila had claimed to have would have been manifested before the school year began.
Ms. Bustier was just as confused. Why hadn’t Mrs. Rossi made note of anything herself?
On Wednesday, the nurse went to Principal Damocles with her concerns. The principal was just as confused when he read over the files, and when he tried to phone home the number went straight to voicemail.
Even stranger, when they attempted to email Mrs. Rossi, they immediately got a reply back - one that read, “I’m terribly sorry for the mix-up, perhaps some things were lost in translation.”

On Thursday, Lila was called to the office. Nobody knew why, not even the girl herself - though Marinette caught her throwing her a calculating stare as she left the classroom. Ms. Bustier had already been called in before, and when she came back to class, she looked visibly upset and almost shaken by whatever had been discussed. Several students asked her, but she waved off their concerns with a tight-lipped smile and a half-hearted reassurance.
By lunch, Alya was frantically tugging at her hand. “Mari, girl, you’ve gotta see this.”
“What’s happening? What? Akuma?” She instantly tensed, eyes darting around.
“No, it’s Lila.” Alya shoved her phone forward, and Marinette blinked as she focused on a video from Juleka. “Her mom’s here, and she is not happy.”
Shouting could faintly be heard from the speakers, and Juleka’s bewildered face filled the screen for a split-second before she turned the camera towards the principal’s office.
“...making a mockery of the family name!” Mrs. Rossi was yelling. “I can’t believe...”
Juleka’s face came into view again, mouthing an ‘uh-oh’ before the video ended.
The noirette looked up, shocked. “How many people have seen this?”
“It was in the group chat, ‘Nette,” Alya said slowly as she lowered the phone. “Didn’t you see?”
“I was busy helping Aurore with student council stuff,” she admitted with a long exhale that drooped her shoulders. “Wow.”
“Wow is right.” The redhead sighed. “I can’t believe Lila lied about that. I was so ready to help her out and everything. I mean... I’m really angry. Furious, even. But... I just feel so exhausted.”
She gave the other girl a grimacing frown. “I’m sorry I didn’t believe you. I feel like such an idiot.”
“No, no, it’s not your fault, Alya.” Marinette was quick to soothe her friend, pulling her in for a tight hug. “I admit, I didn’t exactly put my best foot forward on Monday. I don’t blame you for not believing me at first. I must have looked really jealous and petty.”
Alya hesitated, but squeezed back and pulled away. “I’m gonna be honest here, girl... you kinda did. It really felt like you were just dogpiling on her for no reason. I mean, none of us even knew her that well to begin with. And you’ve done more for less...”
“I know, and I’m really sorry.” She sighed, disappointed in herself as she remembered Kagami. “I’m gonna try harder to keep my feelings in check, but I can’t promise I won’t make my case when I know somebody’s being dishonest and exploiting you.”
“That’s totally fine. I’m trusting you to call me on it, too.” Alya’s mouth curved into a wry half-smile. “Guess that means I’ve gotta scrub my blog. I don’t want my viewers to realize she was lying and lose their trust in me.”

On Friday, Ms. Bustier began the class with an announcement.
“Marinette, please come to the front,” she called.
The girl in question froze, anxious and unsure, until Alya nudged her with an encouraging nod towards the podium.
Swallowing, she slowly got up from her seat and approached the teacher.
Instead of the pinched expression of disappointment Ms. Bustier wore when she was about to scold a student, however, she smiled warmly as she approached and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“I believe some of your classmates have something to say to you.”
Almost immediately, someone piped up. “Sorry, Marinette.”
“Yeah, we’re sorry,” Alix chimed in, a guilty look on her face.
One by one, the others apologized. Chloe remained silent, but Bustier sighed out of her nose and passed her by with a shake of her head.
“We should’ve done more to listen to your concerns,” Sabrina added, wringing her hands together. “Instead we just accused you of being jealous.”
“Nobody is more sorry than I am, Marinette,” Ms. Bustier nodded in agreement. “I should have spoken with you before the seat change in case you were uncomfortable. I should have taken your feelings into account as well as Lila’s. Can you accept my - our - apology?”
Warmth bloomed in her chest and she nodded, a smile spreading across her face as Bustier’s hand squeezed her shoulder in comfort. “Y- yeah. I’m sorry too. I should’ve properly confided in you about my concerns instead of jumping to attacking her. I’ll try harder to communicate from now on.”
“And we’ll try harder to listen.”

I’ve seen a few re blogs being class sugar. Are you a class sugar person?
Of course! I hate it when people oversalt and/or bash the classmates and Adrien with a metaphorical sledgehammer! They are flawed teenagers, and it’s like these people expect perfection!
And to think all this class salt and Adrien salt started because of the 1st episode of Season 3? Uggh….
On a positive note, in reality, they are all good friends to each other even in the most dire situations. Please let it continue.

Handy
Lila glared at Marinette as she complained to Alya about something boring; she was sure of it. She could see the frustration radiating off the baker's daughter. Marinette put her head in her hands from something Alya voiced. The daughter of the bakers lifted her hand and shook them in front of her, as she continued to complain.
'How dare she!'
"Are you mocking me?" Lila questioned, walking up towards them.
"Huh?" Marinette asked, confused, turning to Lila.
"You were doing this" the Italian girl lifted her hands, towards her and shook them, "when you talk."
Marinette giggled, "Really? I never noticed."
"You totally do." Alya commented and then winced, "Mostly when you get frustrated and trying to get your point across."
"Marinette, it's really insensitive of you to make fun of me and my heritage." Lila whined.
"What are you-" Mari began.
"It's an Italian thing." the model explained.
Marinette shrugged, "I probably get it from my Nona then."
"Your what?" Lila demanded.
"My Nona." Marinette repeated.
"You're not Italian!" Lila shouted.
Adrien quickly situated himself besides Marinette, "Technically, she's a quarter Italian. We've all met her Nona at her birthday, last year. You'd like her a lot, Lila. You have so many things in common."
Marinette smiled, "My Nona travels all year long. She goes to exotic places and lives with the natives. Usually, she sends me gifts from her travels."
"When is she coming back?" Adrien questioned.
"She's been coming back for my birthdays, now. Last time, she thought I was still three years old and wasn't sure how to deal with me being grown up. Most of the time we just talk on the phone." Mari answered.
"This one time, I went to the Sahara Desert and-"began Lila.
"That's nice, Lila." Adrien interrupted, "Marinette, where did your Nona go this time?"
Marinette chewed her lower lip for a moment, "I think the Amazon. She likes to go there a lot. Surprising, really; she usually has her bike with her."
"I've been to the Amazon Jungle." Lila smiled, "There's plenty of room for bicycles."
"Bike as in motorcycle." Adrien stated, making the liar falter and then turned back to Marinette, "I've seen you on your Nona's. Do you know how to ride a motor-"
"I do!" Lila chimed in.
"No one asked you!" Adrien declared, "I'm trying to talk to Marinette, but you keep interrupting us! This is an A and B conversation. C your way out of it!"
Adrien grabbed Marinette's hand and pulled her out of the classroom. Before Lila could complain, the class began to cheer.
"It was so great of you to pretend to be jealous!"
"You actually made Adrien take Marinette somewhere alone!"
"I never thought you would annoy him in the best way possible!"
"We should have kept them apart sooner!"
"Yeah!"
"Who knew Adrien was the jealous type."
"Great thinking, Lila."
Lila could only smile, as everyone praised her. Meanwhile, she was screaming internally. She had come out looking like a person who was helping Adrien and Marinette get together. That was the last thing she wanted to happen!

The Illusion Of Disguises
AN: This was inspired by this thread. Hope you enjoy this short crack fic I wrote on a whim!
Lila smirked, she had truly perfected her disguise and was ready to go back to Collège Françoise Dupont. Her new identity is Cerise and has transferred from another school that she will not get into details about.
Cerise enters the classroom and is about to say her greeting but stopped when everyone stared at her with scrutiny in their eyes.
“Oh, look who decided to show up.” Alya hissed. “Never thought I’d see you again, Lila the liar.”
Cerise’s jaw dropped. “I’m sure you’re mistaken, I’m Cerise and I’m new—“
“Oh cut the bullshit, we all know it’s you, Lila!” Alix slammed her hands down on the desk. “You had the gall to disappear after your lies got exposed and now you came back after everything you’ve done.”
Everyone continued to jeer at her and then they started throwing stuff at her which caused her to leave the room. How the heck did this happen? She spent so much time with her disguise that she was sure she’d never be recognized.
“Cht! At least it’s only this class who recognizes me.” Cerise muttered.
Then, two random students gaped and pointed at her, “Oh, it’s you Lila! Like the new look, trying out for the school play?”
“I’m sorry but I think you got the wrong person.” Cerise chuckled and for once, her voice held a tinge of nervousness.
“No way, I recognize that face and I think you’ll definitely get a part in the school play.” The student smiled. “Gotta go, bye.”
Word spread quickly and soon enough, everyone in school is aware that Lila Rossi is back and she isn’t amused at this kind of attention because it seems like her every move is being monitored.
Hiding behind a hallway, Lila took a deep breath and muttered. “Nooroo, dark—“
“What are you doing here?” A voice she recognized caused her to yelp and jump away.
“Ah, nothing!” Lila hastily replied. She inwardly groaned as she recognized the familiar face of Marinette Dupain-Cheng. “I’m sure we haven’t met but I’m-“
“Lila Rossi, didn’t expect to see your face again.” Marinette interrupted, her eyes glinted with suspicion.
“Ugh, why does everyone recognize me?!” Lila shrieked, giving up the illusion of pretending. “I worked for weeks on this disguise and it’s all for nothing!”
Marinette rolled her eyes. “Whatever, I’m leaving.” She walked away before Lila could react.
Then, she proceeded to throw a goddamn tantrum because how did her carefully arranged disguise fall apart on her?
Some time later:
Lila was busy walking through Paris and having an overall bad day considering she hadn’t transformed since everyone kept recognizing her and asking for pictures which she’d refused.
Then, she saw that the Grand hotel is hosting a party and she’d sneak past security just because she managed to catch a glimpse of Adrien.
Smirking, she walked towards him but didn’t get the chance as someone knocked into her and she fell into the table that had food which ruined her clothes.
“Ugh, look at what you did!” Lila screeched.
“I’m s-sorry Mademoiselle, I’m a very clumsy waiter, are you hurt?” The waiter said, in a very exaggerated french accent.
Lila blinked as she realized who she’s looking at. “Marinette?!”
“What? No! I’m Marino and I work here!” Marino replied, sweat dripping from her forehead.
“Uh-huh, you're just Marinette with a fake mustache and I’m gonna expose you!” Lila reached over to grab the fake mustache but her wrist was caught by none other than Adrien.
“Lila, it’s rude to try and grab someone’s mustache. And this isn’t Marinette but Marino, I’ve met him before.” Adrien says.
“What are you saying, that’s Marinette!” Lila exclaimed, pointing an accusatory finger at her. “She shouldn’t be here and she’s not a waiter!”
“Lila, you may be a liar but I will not tolerate you making false accusations like that.” Adrien grumbled, his eyes glinted dangerously. “Marino is a very professional waiter and has done his job for years and you should leave before security comes here and escorts you out.”
Lila managed to hear the other guests murmuring to themselves and they were not in favor of this crazy girl who showed up out of nowhere to harass the waiter.
Lila felt her eyes twitch at the situation and she didn’t have time to expose Marinette as Gorilla, who she remembers was Adrien's bodyguard, dragged her out of the party while she kept screaming bloody murder at Marino.
Adrien reached his hand towards Marino, “Sorry about that. Lila is a real piece of work.”
“It’s no problem, I’ve had my fair share of people like her!” Marino replied. “I think I’ve gotta leave because my shift is almost finished.”
“That’s cool, you know. My girlfriend actually cosplayed as you once during a party my friends held. It’s nice to meet the real deal.” Adrien smiled. “I can’t wait to see her later.”
“Right, I’m Marino and no one else!” Marino chuckled nervously.
Meanwhile, Alya and Tikki who had been listening to the whole convo just facepalmed and wondered about the world’s sense of irony.

A few months into your relationship, Shouto catches on to your weird behavior around his apartment.
“I don’t want to ruin anything,” you finally admit when he notes his observation—about how you tiptoe around his living room of designer furnishings, how you never seem to settle comfortably into his couch, how you carry his glassware with all the pomp and ceremony of an Olympic torch.
“They are just things. This is a home,” Shouto says, like that at all negates the fact that you could break a single one of his salad bowls and spend the rest of your life repaying the debt.
“Hella expensive things in a very nice home,” you reply. “I am not falling asleep and accidentally drooling onto your ten bajillion dollar couch, Shouto.”
Only the tiniest of creases between his brows tell you he’s displeased. “I would like you to be comfortable here. I do mean that they are just things.”
You shake your head. Shouto can be as unfussed as he wants, on his pro hero salary with his fat inheritance slapped on top like a dollop of cream on life’s richest slice of pie. But you were raised in a hand-me-down home, furniture and housewares either inherited or thrifted from generations past, and you are not about to play any kind of game that would leave his couch as worn down as your family’s ancient, squashy sofa with the tears hidden on the undersides of the cushions.
“I’m good, Sho,” you say reassuringly. “I’m just going to take my best care of your things.” You pat his couch ever so lightly for emphasis, so gently it almost doesn’t make a sound.
Shouto watches you for a long moment. His eyes pick over you carefully, and he says nothing, until finally his expression shifts.
You watch with suspicion as his face suddenly goes meticulously blank, and you realize you know that look. It’s the perfectly unreadable poker face that almost always precedes peak little shit behavior.
“Whatever thought you are having is a million percent no from me,” you say quickly, but Shouto’s hand is already closing over your thigh, tugging you closer to him across the luxurious fabric of the very couch you have tried never to crease.
“Shouto, do not fuck with this couch,” you tell him as the material of your pants makes a fwip across the sofa fabric. Shouto arches a perfect brow at you.
“If you will not believe me that I do not care about the state of this couch,” he pronounces evenly, “then I will just have to show you.”
Before you can even demand an explanation, he’s rearranging you to his liking, stretching out over you and pressing you down into the sofa with intent.
Then it dawns on you exactly what he’s about to do.
“Wait, Sho—the bedroom—” you garble out, as your heart rate picks up into double time under his anchoring weight.
Shouto lowers his face to yours, mismatched eyes glittering like gemstones in the low light. “We’ll get there love,” he says, his low, soft tone shivering right up your spine. “But first, we’ll start here.”
His gaze grows heavier with promise, and a long-fingered hand skims up the side of your shirt. Your breathing stills.
“I’m going to have you over every single surface in this apartment,” he says. “Again and again, love. Until you understand that there is only one thing in this house that I consider priceless.”
His mouth presses to yours, softly, as he shifts into the cradle of your thighs.
“And that,” he says against your mouth, sounding satisfied at the little shivery exhale this draws out of you, “that one, single priceless thing...is you.”

You see Lila couldve been super interesting if she had a reason to do what she does or if othr characters werent drastically made dumb in her presence without any explanation on why that is.
Like Lilas appearance bought forth the most ANNOYING fucking salty tropes in this fandom. The marinette x literally everyone in the universe trope, the racist ass trope of Alya being an aggressive attack dog, Chloe replacing Alya as Marinette best friend, destroying the batfamily tag with this batfam x marinette shit, Saltinette in general, Adrien and the class being demonized for daring to have a different opinion/way of approach than Marinette.
And Lila only played a major role in like..three episodes before immediately becoming an after thought. For all this annoying and boring salt fics youd think she was a LOT more threatening and important than she is but no.
Lila couldve been interesting, couldve been a rival to Alya or Adrien, maybe have her show some emotion besides trying to make a 14 year old seem more evil than a literal terrorist whos trying to harm children cuz his wife croaked. Show Lila actually being friends with people, give them a reason to actually like her, give her a motivation besides just strictly being needlessly petty cuz Ladybug was mean to her like..once.
Or if she doesnt like Ladybug maybe just play it as a goof like she hates Ladybug because shes childish but no one takes it serious and she isnt trying to harm people cuz theres no WAY a child is more evil than a whole ass man whos fully aware of the consequences (this show likes to demonize the kids a lot more than the wicked ass adults but anyways.)
Just..lord Lila irks me cuz she let loose a whole issue and shes barely in most episodes and no one seems to be effected by her existence besides Marinette and Adrien its weird. At least with Chloe every character acknowledges her when shes on screen, talks about her, engages with her every so often.

Idea for you class salt after the class is out of school and in the real world.
Marinette's phone gets broken so badly she needs a new number. She only tells a few her new number no one from her old class has it.
Some of her old class goes to bakery to ask why she hasn't called them back when they called her. They get told her phone got broken and all that.
The class member goes okay tell her to call me when it gets fixed or replaced it is important.
Only her parents forget and when said class member comes back later is told that but is also told Marinette has a new phone now. But not a new number.
Classmate rushes out to call her so she can fix their problems like always only it goes to voicemail as the person whom has her old number is like I don't know this person calling me. It goes on and on till it gets bad and the person with the new number goes to the police with worry over the threats they are getting.
Should I be worried for myself or the person they are trying to reach
It comes to a head when alya talks max into hacking the location of the phone and they go to have a talk with Marinette only it's not her
Thank you so much for the request! It's my first one so I went a bit overboard and wrote a lot! So sorry it took me so long to get to this! I'm taking organic chemistry over the winter so that has been kicking my ass. The first draft was deleted, so hopefully, this is a better version! Thank you for your patience with me!
TW: swearing, minor threats of violence
~~~~~~
"Well shit," Marinette's day was already bad, but this was just throwing salt into the wound. She had started her day with her phone blowing up with requests from her (former) classmates and friends. Ever since she returned from College they had gotten right back to their usual B.S. "Mari I need a new dress for a meeting with Prince Ali," "Marinette! I told my team you'd design some sick jackets for us and you'd have them done by our next swim meet!" "Girl! I need three new outfits! Adrien and Lila are taking me with them to a fashion show and this is my chance to interview some top designers! Oh sorry, you're not invited." She was up to her neck in demands and requests, to the point she was seriously considering closing her commissions, not like her former friends paid her anyways. THEN Hawkmoth decided that she hadn't suffered enough, she had to deal with Volpina, Frozer, AND Prime Queen and it was not even lunchtime. Volpina was easy enough to take down, why Lila was akumatized is anyone's guess. Frozer was a bit trickier, and since Chat had no plans of showing up she had to bring in Ryuko and Viperion. The trio ended up fighting Prime Queen, who was convinced that LadyNoir would still happen and the Cat Hero's absence was due to a lover's quarrel. Marinette was finally able to return to the alleyway she had transformed in... only to find her shattered phone. It must've fallen out of her suit's pocket (she had redesigned her costume since returning to Paris, she wanted a more mature, fashionable look) when she was rushing to get to the battle.
"Great! Just Perfect! This is just what I need now!" She sighed picking up the shattered phone. There was no way this was salvageable, the impact of hitting the ground had practically broken the thing in half. Tikki knew her chosen was stressed, between being Ladybug, being the Guardian of the Miraculous, building a blossoming fashion empire from scratch, and having to deal with her former friends' constant demands it was only a matter of time before she lost Marinette to Hawkmoth's akumatization. The goddess recognized that this was just the opportunity she needed to help her chosen, and she would start by helping Marinette cut off the people hurting her most. "Marinette! I have an idea! Why don't you get two phones? One can be your work phone, and the other can be your personal one. That way you won't have to worry about your work stuff getting lost in your personal stuff. You can get new numbers for both too!" Marinette looked at the Kwamii with some confusion, "Why would I need to change my number?" Tikki sighed, "Marinette, they haven't been very good friends to you, they haven't even been your friends for a while now. Think about it, your former classmates don't talk to you unless they want something, they expect you to use your connections to benefit them but won't return the favor, and they promise you and your time to other people without your consent.  That isn't right babybug, friends don't treat friends like that. They don't even pay you for your time, effort, and the cost of materials!" Marinette knew that Tikki was right, but she was still hesitant, "But..." "Would Kagami text you expecting you to make her something and refuse to pay? Would Luka text you telling you that he promised another musician you'd make their wardrobe by their next concert? Would Kagami and Luka use your work to get ahead, and then refuse to extend the favor? No, they wouldn't! Those are healthy friends babybug, you can give them your new number, I know they'll understand!" Marinette thought about it for a moment and decided that Tikki was right. With a renewed conviction she made her way to the nearest tech store to begin to take control of her life again.
Adrien was frustrated, he had been texting and calling Marinette all afternoon but she wasn't answering! That wasn't like his princess, so something had to be going on, but there wasn't an Akuma on the news, Ladybug, Viperion, and Ryuko defeated the three earlier today. He did feel a little guilty that he didn't go to help, but he was busy! He had modeling shoots all morning and then joined Lila and Alya for lunch discussing their upcoming trip. The topic eventually turned to the Wayne Gala that was approaching as well, with both models confirming they had been invited. Well, Lila had only been invited because she was an official Gabriel representative, but she didn't need to know that. The brunette was currently making a big show of bringing Alya as her plus one, which brings Adrien back to his current predicament. When he arrived home, his father told him that he had to invite Marinette Dupain-cheng as his plus one no matter what. Both Agrestes had been shocked when she had rejected Gabriel's offer to join his company, but her answer had been reassuring, "I greatly appreciate your offer but cannot accept it in good conscious. Adrien has been my friend for years and I would hate to potentially harm his, the company's, and my reputation by accepting. I am worried it could be misconstrued as me gaining the position, not by my own talent, skill, or merit but because I had a connection to someone with considerable sway." His father didn't seem to pick up that the last bit was about Lila, but seemed content. In fact, Gabriel had complimented Marinette's business savvy and remarked how good it would be if she followed in his footsteps by building a fashion house from scratch. He had mused that it would be even better to have the two great fashion houses merging together instead of just taking Marinette in as a designer. Now that Miracle Design Clothing (MDC) has risen to compete with the likes of Gabriel and Style Queen, his father had decided now was the time to begin winning Marinette over.
Adrien would never admit it to his father, but he had his own motivations for being so on board with the plan to invite Marinette to the Wayne Gala. They were now in their mid-20s, and everyone in Paris wanted to know everything about the Agreste Heir's love life. Lila had hinted multiple times that Adrien was dating her, so much so that the media was beginning to spin her narrative. However, Adrien wasn't entirely out of the running yet. He knew that the Wayne Galas were always a media frenzy so if he, a fashion empire heir, showed up to the Gala with Marinette, a rising star in the fashion world, on his arm the media would quickly assume they were dating. It was a brilliant plan, Marinette was charming, beautiful, intelligent, and incredibly talented. His father held her in high regard, and he knew that if Gabriel approved of him dating anyone, it would be Marinette. Besides Adrien had a trick up his sleeve, he knew Marinette was in love with him, or at least that was what Alya had told him. She told him about Marinette's crush right before the ravenette left for college, hoping to embarrass her former best friend. Their old class still believed what Lila had said about Marinette being a bully. In their get-togethers they would often mock the designer's success, reassuring Lila that the only reason they talked to her was to get stuff from Marinette. While it upset him a little to know Marinette was being taken advantage of, a larger part of him felt like she deserved it since she didn't listen to his advice about Lila. Oh well, it was her own fault. Adrien was brought out of his thoughts by Alya's shriek.
"OH MY GOSH! The Waynes just announced the Designer they got their Gala outfits from, and it's Marinette!" Adrien choked down a laugh at the sour expression Lila wore, as Alya continued to read, "The article says that Marinette and Timothy Drake Wayne met while they were in college, and he thought her designs were so incredible that he referred her to Bruce Wayne himself! She's considered a family friend and received their order along with an invitation to the Gala! Why didn't she tell me any of this??" 'Maybe because you only talk to her when you want something' Adrien thought as their former classmates began to text. Alya was trying to call Marinette, most likely to scream at her for not letting Alya in on such a big story, but she couldn't get through. "Ugh! Marinette is ignoring me! Who does that stupid bitch think she is?" Lila's eyes sparkled as she saw a chance to jump in and control the narrative, "I know right? You'd think she'd be more grateful after I introduced her to Timmy- oh I've said too much," She batted her eyelashes and made a show of covering her mouth. "YOU introduced Marinette to the Waynes? Girl you've gotta give me the details!" "Well, Marinette was going to college in Milan, and I happened to be there for a modeling shoot," That part was actually true, Adrien was sick and couldn't make that shoot, "We happened to bump into each other at a cafè, and Marinette apologized to me for how awful she was to me in our youth. She told me that the only reason she did what she did was that she was jealous and felt threatened by me, you were right Alya." That was how Lila worked, she mixed a little bit of the truth with what someone wanted to hear, which caused the lies she told to pass by noticed. "Anyways we had lunch and caught up, she was showing me some of her amazing designs," as much as it pained Lila to admit it, Marinette was truly talented. In fact one thing she regretted was not working harder to deceive Marinette back when they were still in school, if she had known Marinette would be so successful she would've fought like hell to take the spot of Marinette's Best Friend away from Alya. She would've been MDC's top model, instead of having a stagnating career as just another practically nameless model for Gabriel. "I remembered my dear friend Timmy, we met when my mother was stationed in Gotham, he had told me that the Wayne family needed suits and dresses for their upcoming Gala and that Gabriel was too busy." Another partial truth, Lila didn't know any Wayne, but she knew Gabriel was too busy being Hawkmoth to make their outfits. "I gave him Marinette's number as an olive branch because I had thought she changed, but I guess she was lying. Oh and Alya? Adrien? Please don't mention my friendship with the Waynes, I don't want people thinking they can get to them through me." Lila smirked as both Adrien and Alya promised her they wouldn't say anything.
When Marinette told them she was cutting off her former friends for good, Tom and Sabine were over the moon. They knew about the Lila situation and all its complexities after the faux fox tried to infiltrate the bakery and convince them their daughter had stolen her necklace. They almost fell for it, until Tom remembered that Marinette had been helping him in the bakery during the time Lila said their daughter took the necklace. He had sternly told Lila that there was no way Marinette could have done it, and even offered to show her security footage that proved Marinette was not the thief. Instead, the brunette stormed out of the bakery, and Tom and Sabine knew they had to talk to their daughter. After a bit of gentle prodding, Marinette broke down and told them everything. She told them about Lila, her classmates, and Adrien, and she told them about everything they were putting her through. They were horrified, and that feeling was solidified after Lila got Marinette expelled. After their daughter's name was cleared, that useless principal was trying to dodge removing it from her record, until Sabine threatened to contact the school board about how their daughter was expelled without an investigation. They did everything they could, but it seemed Lila had everyone else in her pocket, and it seemed to stay that way once Marinette returned from college. She had swung by the bakery and explained that her phone had been shattered while she avoided the akumas, and she was taking this opportunity to change her number and cut those leeches off. Sabine and Tom promised that they would say nothing because it was only a matter of time before her former friends wound up at the bakery because of the radio silence from Marinette.
The chiming of the doorbell confirmed their fears. In stormed Marinette's old class, with her former friend Alya leading the pack. They could see Lila hiding in the back, and decided it would be better to say nothing. "Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng! We have a problem and thought you could help us. We've been trying to get in contact with Marinette all day, but we can't reach her and we wanted to make sure she was okay." Sabine smiled as she tried to hold in her rage. They weren't here because they were concerned, those brats wanted something. It would appear that Alya and co didn't know that Marinette's parents knew Lila was lying or what they did, so Tom decided to answer in a way Lila couldn't twist. "Oh, she came by earlier today and let us know that her phone was broken. She dropped it during one of the Akuma attacks, and it was pretty smashed up. She told us to let you know if you came by since she would be off the grid until it was fixed. It might be a while though, it was almost as bad as the time it got caught in the bread mixer!" His answer seemed to calm the group down, typical clumsy Marinette strikes again. "Ok, well can you please let her know to reach out to us once her phone's fixed?" The two nodded and promised they would, and watched as the group of adults left. Sabine turned to the freezer, "They're gone! You can come out now!" The two chuckled as their daughter slowly poked her head out of the walk-in freezer, ready to dash back in at a moment's notice. Yeah, they're glad Marinette was finally cutting those people off and the bright glow in their girl's eyes confirmed it.
The Gala was in a few weeks, and Marinette was STILL radio silent. Adrien was pacing back and forth in his room, trying to figure out what to do. Her social media was most likely controlled by an assistant like his was so he couldn't message her there, he couldn't get into her studio without an invitation or employee badge, and he realized he had no idea where she lived so he couldn't even pay her a visit or send a letter! "I don't know what to do! No one has heard from Marinette and her parents promised they'd talk to her about it!" "Maybe she finally got tired of your bullshit and decided to cut you and the rest of those users off," Plagg snapped from somewhere in his room. After The Paint Incident, Plagg's attitude towards him seemed to change. He snapped at Adrien more, called Adrien out on his behavior, and started giving Adrien harsh (and desperately needed) advice. Other than that, Plagg was getting on his case about slacking off on his duties as Chat Noir, claiming that his behavior was a disgrace to the legacy of the Cat Miraculous. Adrien was getting fed up with him, hadn't the stupid cat heard the saying 'if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all?' "Marinette wouldn't do that! We're her friends!" "Some friends. And some friend YOU are. You knew Lila was lying and let her wreck Marinette's school life, get her expelled, and continue to lie to everyone. You told Marinette to shut up and take it, news flash kid, the high road does not mean stay quite and let people hurt you! YOU currently know that YOUR friends only care about what they can get from her and that Lila is planning to pull some bullshit at the Gala, but all you're concerned about is making sure karma doesn't bite you in the ass!" Plagg roared. It was hard to argue with the little god without sounding like a hypocrite, but Adrien was going to try. "Well... When Marinette agrees to go to the Gala with me I can fix everything! She likes me, so we can get together, and I can get Lila to apologize! Once everyone knows they're on good terms things will go back to how they should be!" Plagg was paying more attention to the cheese he was juggling, but he did glance back at Adrien, "One, IF she decides to go with you. Two, she may not even feel that way it's been years. Three, How are you going to get a narcissist to admit to wrongdoing? Four, How does Lila apologizing change how your ex-class treat Mari when that's how they treated her before Lila showed up?" Adrien chose to ignore Plagg and tried calling Marinette again.
Alya was STRESSED. The Gala was coming up and she needed a new dress that would wow everyone and make her stand out from other reporters. She had already secured her Press Pass, and because she was Lila's plus one she could actually get into the Gala. The only other reporters with that privilege were Clark Kent and Lois Lane, close friends of the Wayne Family. Lila offered to get her a Gabriel Original but she turned it down, both girls shared a sentiment that Gabriel's designs had really been declining. "I think it was the loss of his wife. She was his greatest inspiration, and especially with Hawkmoth on the loose, I can understand not wanting to leave your house. Maybe he's just out of touch," Lila had told her, and Alya agreed. What she needed was a Marinette Original, something to show she was in with both designers. She was thinking of something fox-inspired, to pay homage to her time as Rena Rouge. She'd talked to the other girls about why Marinette had never told her she would be designing for the Waynes, and they reassured her, "Well, maybe she thought you wouldn't be interested or were too busy?" Rose offered. "You didn't really report on fashion until Adrien and Lila took you to that fashion show. Maybe she thought you wouldn't be interested." Juleka suggested. "Als, you're overthinking it! Mari didn't tell you because she couldn't! A family like the Waynes has wicked good lawyers, they probably made her sign an NDA." Alix concluded. They were probably right, Marinette would have told her if she could have, and Alya needed that dress. So there she was at Tom and Sabine's bakery again, asking about Marinette. "Oh, she just called this morning! The damage was too severe, so she had to get a new phone." Sabine told the young reporter, who thanked her lucky stars. As she left the bakery, she sent a text 'Mari's back!'
Adrien nearly dropped his phone when he got the text from Alya, before excusing himself to run upstairs and call Marinette. The phone rang, and rang, and rang, before the call was answered, "Hello? Who is this?" A woman's voice answered, but certainly was not Marinette. Adrien was floored, he was sure he dialed the correct number. "Um hi. I'm looking for Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I'm a friend of hers and was calling to speak to her." "Oh really? Well if you're her friend maybe you can explain to me why the second I had this number activated my phone was bombarded with calls and texts demanding things from dresses, to invitations to some Gala, and all kinds of other demands." Wait, had Marinette changed her number? No, she wouldn't have. "Listen, lady, I don't know if you find this funny but I KNOW Marinette wouldn't change her number. If you're her assistant you better give the phone to Marinette NOW or I'll see to it personally that you're fired!" Marinette should really have taken care to not hire such incompetent people. It was unfitting of an eventually-to-be Agreste. "I don't know who you think you are but I will make one thing clear: I DO NOT KNOW A MARINETTE DUPAIN-CHENG!" The line went dead. Adrien pressed the redial button, and felt his stomach drop as the call didn't go through, he had been blocked. From the way the group chat was blowing up, he could guess the others were getting the same response. Lila was going on and on about how Marinette was abandoning them in their time of need, and adding fuel to the fire. Adrien decided he was going to do damage control. He had thought a bit about what Plagg had said and realized that he needed to show Marinette that he was still on her side, besides it would be tougher to get everyone to make up if they were mad at her for something her crappy assistant did. He sent the chat a message, 'Guys relax. The woman on the phone wasn't Marinette but has her number, so she's probably a new assistant! Miracle Design Clothing has really exploded since the Waynes announced she made their outfits for the Gala so Marinette probably hired some help and the lady didn't know who we were. We can try again later.'
Lea Dubois was having the roughest week in all of her fourty-three years. She had gotten a new phone, since she her old one was stolen, and decided to get a new number with it. Not even a couple of minutes after activating her phone it began blowing up with calls and demands for a Marinette Dupain-Cheng. After a particularly snobby boy threatened to get her fired from a job she didn't even have, Lea decided to do some snooping and figure out who this Marinette Dupain-Cheng was. Googling the girl's name directed her to a Miracle Design Clothing website, and after scrolling through she found a tab labeled, "Founder." Clicking on it, she saw a picture of a smiling young woman with shiny black (almost blue) hair and sapphires for her eyes. She was a truly gorgeous woman, and from what Lea read very talented. That explained the demand for clothing. She decided to check social media next, and quickly found articles about how the rising star had been personally invited to the Wayne Charity Gala! That explained all the calls from people claiming to be Marinette's friends and demanding to be taken to the Gala, to that one girl who demanded an interview and a dress for the Gala. Lea went through the messages that quickly went from demanding to insulting and toxic, and thought to herself, 'I see why that girl changed her number, I hope she knows these people aren't her friends.' She decided to look up the people who had called her, and see what she could find out about them. A girl named Alix and a boy named Kim were both athletes, although both played for the minor leagues of their respective sports, but it did explain the requests for jersey designs. A boy named Ivan and two girls named Juleka and Rose had been calling about outfits for their next concert, apparently they were in a band called Kitty Section. Lea vaguely remembered that it was a popular group, before their lead guitarist was kicked out and went solo. Two girls named Sabrina and Mylene had asked her to create costumes for a production in the Théâtre du Châtelet, a boy named Max called asking for a suit for his new tech reveal, and another boy named Nino asked her to design a couple of album covers!
A few other people called, but they seemed to be genuine friends. One standout was a boy named Nathaniel who had called twice, once to congratulate Marinette on her work with the Waynes and invite her to an event for his comic. The second time was to apologize to Lea when he found out Marinette had changed her number. He had also apologized for the harassment his (and apparently Marinette's) former friends had been throwing at her. He explained that when they were younger, Marinette didn't know how to stand up for herself, and was pressured by her teacher to constantly put her needs on the back burner to help her classmates. Nathaniel told her it had gotten better when Marinette left for college, but now that she was back in Paris, things had gone back to the way they were. Instead of their teacher, the role of pressuring her had fallen to three people, Lila Rossi, Alya Césaire, and Adrien Agreste. That last name caught her attention, could that have been the bratty boy who threatened to fire her? "Sweetie I hate to do this to you, but if you have time could you meet me in person? We have a lot to discuss, and I'm beginning to worry for Marinette." Nathaniel had agreed and had said he was bringing a couple of Marinette's friends, her real friends. "They've been harassing us too, maybe we can look into getting a restraining order or something." And that was how she ended up in a cafe sitting at a table with some of the most impressive people she'd ever met. There were Nathaniel Kurtzberg and Marc Anciel, the power couple of comics. She hadn't read comics since she was a little girl, but her nephews talked nonstop about the Ladybug comic the two had started in collège. Olympian fencer Kagami Tsurugi, and hit rock artist Luka Couffaine. There was academy award winner Zoé Lee and fortune 500 company founder Chloé Bourgeois.
The group exchanged pleasantries and got right to business, "So we heard from Nathaniel that you got Marinette's old number and that your phone has been blowing up with all the shit she used to get," Luka said. Lea nodded, "Yes. They refused to believe that she'd changed her number and one man even threatened to get me fired! I don't know what job he thinks I have that he can influence, but I digress. " "Ugh. That sounds like Adrien alright. I swear it was like a switch flipped in his head during Collége, he's acting like I used to," Chloé had come to terms with the kind of person she was, and had taken the steps to apologize and change for the better. A part of that was she swore never to touch a Miraculous again, she had become aware enough to realize that when given that much power she would be tempted to fall back into her old ways. "It's telling that their first reaction to being cut off is to harass an innocent person instead of reflecting on their actions and what lead them to that point," Kagami said, "I think we owe you an explanation since you have unfortunately been dragged into this." Lea nodded, that sounded good. "They weren't always this bad, well they weren't always this blatant about it. For a long time, Marinette was happy and popular, hell even when I bullied her she didn't seem bothered. Then Lila Rossi transferred. That girl is the type to convince people that two plus two equals five, you know what I mean," Lea nodded, her ex had been like that. "Well anyways, Marinette saw through her bullshit and called her out for it, so Lila declared war. Before anyone could process what happened, Lila had convinced the class that Marinette was the Devil's spawn. She even managed to get Marinette falsely expelled, and while that was reversed, it was the moment Marinette realized she couldn't rely on her classmates. Alya was an up-and-coming journalist and her best friend, but if she couldn't bring herself to fact-check this girl's stories..." Chloé paused to take a sip of her drink, and Lea thought of something, "Maybe Alya did fact-check and knew Lila was lying. I did some research before I came here, and I know that Alya ran the Ladyblog. I also know that her videos featuring Lila are her most viewed videos, but when I looked at the comments I noticed that a ton had been deleted. Maybe she knew but saw how much attention her blog was getting, and chose to ignore Lila's lies, or maybe she believes them, I don't know." The group continued to chat about their situation and were snapped out of it when the door to the cafe was flung open.
Alya was gonna kill Marinette when she found her. How dare she hire someone and not tell them who she was?! How dare she do that to her friends?! Doesn't she realize they need her? It didn't take much to convince the others, specifically Max, to ping the location off of Marinette's number and track it down. If she was going to be bitchy and ignore their calls and messages and hire some dumb assistant to annoy them, they were gonna make her pay! They had tracked her location to a cafe in the fashion district and were waiting for the last of the group to arrive. "I don't understand why she's being so petty," Lila whimpered, fighting back tears, "You all have been nothing but kind to her even when she's been such a nasty person!" "I don't understand it either," Sabrina said, "It's like a switch flipped in collège or something." Well whatever it was, they weren't gonna let her get out of this! Once Kitty Section had arrived, the group stormed into the cafe ready to give Marinette a piece of their minds! To their surprise, Marinette wasn't there. Their old friends turned enemies were there and sitting with them was a middle-aged woman, was she the one who had been answering from Marinette's number. "Where's Marinette?" Alya demanded. Chloé and Kagami lept to their feet. "She isn't here, and unless someone is dying you are not getting in contact with her!" Chloé was a lot less polite about it, "Wow, I'm surprised none of you got the memo. You've been cut off!" The older woman turned to face them, and Adrien snapped at her, "You! Are you Marinette's assistant or something? Get her here now!" Oh, that was it, Lea walked right up to him, ready for war. "I will do no such thing because I am not her assistant! I did not even know who Marinette was until you people began blowing up my phone with demands! I have never met more selfish people! And you," she pointed at Lila, "I've heard all about you and what you've done to that poor girl!" Lila began to sob, wailing about how she didn't do anything, and that she had been trying to mend bridges with Marinette by introducing her to the Waynes.
"Woah, Woah, hold on! You did NOT introduce her to the Wayne Family," Luka stood up and walked over, Lea noticed how Kitty Section seemed to shrink under his gaze. "Marinette met the Waynes at a fashion show in Gotham that Jagged Stone took us to. She met Selina and the two hit it off like a house on fire," Luka pulled out his phone and showed off pictures of a much younger Marinette with a woman who could have passed for her mother. "Notice the date? She was in high school when she met them. Here she is at Selina and Bruce's wedding. Know why she's there? She designed Selina's dress." The dress was a stunning white with elegant black lace. The top resembled the head of a cat, and if you looked close enough you could see little cats and bats hidden within the lace. "Marinette's been the Wayne Family's go-to designer for YEARS. Hell, the Waynes were at her graduation party, and the opening of Miracle Design Clothes Studio, and have been to every major life event she's had since she met them." Luka showed them More photos of Marinette and the Wayne family. "I don't know how you could introduce her to people she's known for years," Luka said, "Not to mention Stephanie tells me they're desperate to either adopt her into the family or have her marry into it," Marc added. All eyes were on Lila now, she had told them all that she'd introduced Marinette to Timothy Drake Wayne and that was how Marinette got the job, but with all this evidence it was clear her lie was dead in the water. Lea turned back to the group, watching as the realization crossed their faces that Lila had lied, and had most likely lied about various other things. Turning back to the people she had met she said, "It was very nice meeting you all. Please pass on my concerns to Marinette, and let her know if she ever needs friendly advice, she knows what number to call,"
The Wayne Gala was very... Awkward for Adrien. After their failed attempt to confront Marinette, Lila got exposed, and in the excitement, it came out that he knew about what she had been doing. Simply put he was excommunicated from the group. They figured that if they cut him, Lila, and Alya (who had doubled down on Marinette being the problem until it came out she knew Lila lied and had said nothing to protect her views) out that they could apologize to Marinette and she'd take them back. Their pleas on social media brought attention to the situation, and Marinette's friends and parents were more than happy to tell the world what happened to their favorite designer. When he, Lila, and Alya walked into the Wayne Gala, they turned heads but not for the reasons any of them had hoped for. People were polite to their faces and when speaking to them, but Adrien could hear them whispering behind his back. He needed to talk to Marinette, if he could smooth things over with her then maybe, just maybe this could be salvaged. However, the Wayne Family seemed to personally take offense to his plan, because whenever he saw Marinette (and she stood out in an absolutely jaw-dropping sparkling red mermaid cut dress) she was whisked away before he could say anything. First, it was Selina, who lead her over to some of his father's former clients and proudly told them the story of how she met the young designer. Then it was Bruce Wayne himself who came to introduce her to the Kents, who much to Alya's dismay didn't even glance her way. Finally, it was the Wayne Kids who were determined to dance with Marinette all night, Adrien swears Jason was smirking at him. Eventually, she broke off from the main party with Tim and the two were chatting on the balcony. This was as close of a chance as he would get.
Marinette was having an amazing night! She met so many amazing people and made so many new contacts! She even set up an interview with Lois Lane! She could feel Alya fuming on the other side of the room, and tried her best not to think about it. She knew Adrien, Lila, and Alya were at the Gala, and she knew what had happened a few weeks before. While she was happy Lila was finally exposed, she had moved on. She got to dance with each of the Wayne siblings, but her favorite dance had to be with Tim. When Selina had introduced her to him, their reaction to each other was to freak out. Tim was over the moon to meet the designer he'd followed for years, and Marinette was ecstatic to meet the young Wayne CEO (whom she may have had a bit of a crush on). The two had exchanged numbers and talked constantly, building up a close friendship. As time went on her crush on him grew as well, but she was too nervous to risk their friendship and say anything. Eventually, when she thought her feet were going to fall off, Tim led her over to the balcony. There they talked quietly about anything and everything when a cough interrupted them. There was Adrien, with a charming smile, but Marinette had learned not to be fooled. "Hello, Adrien. Enjoying the Gala?" Marinette asked, she knew he was up to something, and from the way Tim looked at him, he could sense it too. Marinette decided to take control of the conversation, "I heard what happened. With Lea Dubois and the phone number and everything. To put it lightly that certainly wasn't your best moment." "Well, I... I never thought you would change your number, so it kinda threw me for a loop. Anyways, I wanted to apologize for the part I played in all of this. I really dropped the ball and it lead to you getting hurt I never intended for that to happen," "Yet you continued to let Marinette's former friends use her for free things?" Tim butted in, holding up his phone and showing various text messages between Adrien and his friends. Adrien's face darkened, "How the hell did you get those?!" Tim just threw his head back and laughed. "I'm a tech prodigy. Finding texts is a piece of cake. I started looking after Nathaniel told me about what happened in the cafe. I also found the texts between you and your father, and no I won't let you use my girlfriend as a publicity stunt. We were gonna announce our relationship tonight-" Adrien turned around and stomped off before Tim could finish his sentence. Marinette sighed, he really hadn't changed. Turning back to Tim she asked, "Since when are we in a relationship?" The raven-haired boy blushed a little, "Well Unofficially since your graduation party, but neither of us knew it at the time. Officially now... If you want. If not that's cool and we can just pretend this never happened. Damn Adrien! I had a plan for this but he had to show up and ruin it!" Marinette chuckled and brought Tim's hand up to her cheek, smiling up at him fondly, "Officially now is fine with me."
