uh... and it did in the series? What exactly was so different in the series? The umbrella scene AND the library scene were basicaly the same?!? basically Adrien being kind to Marinette, exchanging a few words and walking away getting on with his life. They barely talked.

he didnt though? He just apologeticaly justified his actions in one sentence. Nothing crazy about it, its not like they sat down and had an hour-long conversation about their feelings. Hell. he did the same with Nino in the same day and its not treated as a romantic deal-breaker for them.

In both scenes Marinette didnt fell for Adrien because she "saw his true side" or because "it was fate", but because he was a cute boy that was kinda nice and gave her attention. AND thats okay. Because in real life thats how love happens, not in the great gestures and ultra-romantic scenes but the mundane things that make you attracted to a person, while love grows in the long run.

I hate how modern romantic portrayal in media has made us numb to this kind of thing, and Im all up for starting to normalize this.

I feel, with my post about the finale, I should make it abundantly clear.

While I think the Adrienette relationship is unhealthy due to the circumstances of the finale, secrets being kept the number 1 reason. That's not Marinettes actual fault though.

Marinette not telling Adrien is a character flaw, BUT SHES 14. AND SCARED. AND ALONE. If there's anything I CAN fault her for, genuinely, is the potential she doesn't tell Chat Noir. Otherwise?

Of COURSE Marinette didn't tell Adrien! She's never been good at being honest until she absolutely has to, she's very closed off, it's almost like she's lived in paranoia for what? A year or more? And is a bullied child?

Any complaints I have about the show, or slaty takes, are purely narrative and against the writers. Nathalie, Felix, and so many others should have told Adrien these secrets. They were right there on the front lines and then just. Never did anything! Nathalie not telling Adrien anything means that as much as she wants to pretend, she is NOT actually in Adriens corner.

Felix can say he loves Adrien all he wants, but when he still treats him like crap and doesn't tell him ANYTHING he clearly doesn't. His sympathy is purely sentimonster related.

And Kagami "I can't date you cause of secrets and I got akumatized for being lied to" Tsurugi (much as I love her) has literally 0 excuse not to tell Adrien! Especially after Risk!

So many other characters should be telling Adrien and they aren't.

Marinette is a child put in a terrible situation by terrible adults. Leave her alone man.

You see Lila couldve been super interesting if she had a reason to do what she does or if othr characters werent drastically made dumb in her presence without any explanation on why that is.

Like Lilas appearance bought forth the most ANNOYING fucking salty tropes in this fandom. The marinette x literally everyone in the universe trope, the racist ass trope of Alya being an aggressive attack dog, Chloe replacing Alya as Marinette best friend, destroying the batfamily tag with this batfam x marinette shit, Saltinette in general, Adrien and the class being demonized for daring to have a different opinion/way of approach than Marinette.

And Lila only played a major role in like..three episodes before immediately becoming an after thought. For all this annoying and boring salt fics youd think she was a LOT more threatening and important than she is but no.

Lila couldve been interesting,couldve been a rival to Alya or Adrien, maybe have her show some emotion besides trying to make a 14 year old seem more evil than a literal terrorist whos trying to harm children cuz his wife croaked. Show Lila actually being friends with people, give them a reason to actually like her, give her a motivation besides just strictly being needlessly petty cuz Ladybug was mean to her like..once.

Or if she doesnt like Ladybug maybe just play it as a goof like she hates Ladybug because shes childish but no one takes it serious and she isnt trying to harm people cuz theres no WAY a child is more evil than a whole ass man whos fully aware of the consequences (this show likes to demonize the kids a lot more than the wicked ass adults but anyways.)

Just..lord Lila irks me cuz she let loose a whole issue and shes barely in most episodes and no one seems to be effected by her existence besides Marinette and Adrien its weird. At least with Chloe every character acknowledges her when shes on screen, talks about her, engages with her every so often.

Why do Miraculous fans think that Thomas Astruc hate Chloe?? Because he didn’t have her a redemption arc she didn’t even need?

It’s not hating a character to make them an antagonist, or just a bad person. People love Disney vilains for a reason. And Thomas created Chloe to be a mean girl.

Season 3 showed that her character had more depth, that bad things happened to her when she was little, and that she has a softer side… But that doesn’t mean Chloe should suddenly become a good person. It just means that Chloe’s character is complex.

But the show made it clear until now why Chloe couldn’t get a redemption arc: she doesn’t want to change. She wants to keep her privileges and treat everyone like they were inferior to her. She can’t possibly get a redemption arc now.

Do you think the fanbase gives Adrien too much pity? It’s a wonder why the viewership of the Season 4 episodes involving him didn’t diminish like what happened with the Olicity (Oliver/Felicity) episodes in Arrow.

In some respects, yes.

The thing is that there are aspects of Adrien’s life that you can’t help but feel bad for. The context is how they’re used as a way to constantly get the audience to sympathize with him instead of building him up as a character.

The opposite tends to happen with Chloe, as there are times where it seems like people ignore the crimes she committed even before “Miracle Queen”.

it's always really weird how fanfic authors talk about marinette's body, but how they talk about the food she eats feels even worse.
